Park Chanyeol was the most powerful vampire the world had ever seen. He was a pureblood from the Park clan, the oldest vampires known to man. In the vampire world, the Parks were basically royalty. They lived in a beautiful Gothic mansion that dated back to the 1700s, said to have once been the property of an ancient ruler. It now served as the residence of the vampire lord and his four lovers: Park Suho, Park Minseok, Park Jong-dae, and the youngest and most recent mate, Park Baekhyun.

Chanyeol met each of them at different times: Suho in Europe in 1351, when he neared death from the plague; Jong-dae in the early 1900s, as he suffered from the depression that swept the United States; and Minseok, Chanyeol's most recent find, saved from death as he lived with AIDS in the late 1980s. Minseok had been the most compliant of the three, as the concept of vampires wasn't foreign to him. He struggled with his loss of humanity, having been a vet in his past life, but life with Chanyeol entailed more than he could ever imagine.

Last was Baekhyun, a victim of a hate crime in 2010. Chanyeol happened to be passing by when he saw the young boy left for dead. The century-old vampire was no stranger to death and often wouldn't care when he saw murder, as it was a part of life. Yet when he saw the young man's face, he couldn't help but feel empathetic.

The blood of a pureblood was something to treasure. Many vampires would give themselves as slaves just to have a taste. Purebloods were the only ones capable of turning a human into a vampire. While most vampires were descendants of purebloods, they did not have the same power. For a time, it was heavily recommended that purebloods breed with one another to grow the vampire race. However, after a few centuries, vampires began to procreate with humans and other species. Now, 90% of the vampire population were low-level beings created by unions of vampires. Only 5% were still purebloods, and vampires like the Parks, created by purebloods, were known as aristocrats.

Ironically, the very night Baekhyun was turned happened to be a full moon. While not much could harm a pureblood vampire, werewolves had been their enemies for centuries. As Chanyeol held the boy in his arms and fed him blood to awaken him, a pack of wolves charged at him from behind. This attack would have sent any normal vampire to the ground, but Chanyeol came from a special lineage.

The attack left him badly injured, requiring him to slumber for years until his body fully healed. He had yet to meet his new mate, and his older companions were forced to explain to the fledgling what had happened.

Cut to 2024, fourteen years later, Chanyeol was waking up from his slumber. The house remained unchanged, courtesy of Suho, who struggled with change. Chanyeol could detect a sweet, unfamiliar smell in the air.

The first person to see Chanyeol since he woke up was Xiumin, who had chosen to spend the decade beside him, finding solace in the quiet of Chanyeol's room. As Chanyeol lifted the lid and emerged, Xiumin couldn't contain the tears that slipped down his cheeks at the sight of his beloved awake once more. Chanyeol stepped out slowly, stretching stiff limbs as he adjusted to the world beyond his slumber.

Approaching Xiumin, Chanyeol embraced him tightly, pressing a tender kiss atop his lips and brushing away the tears that adorned Xiumin's cheeks. "I'm sorry I made you wait, my love," Chanyeol whispered softly, his voice a soothing balm after years of silence. "Where are the others?" he asked gently, his hands still resting on Xiumin's shoulders.

"Awaiting your return, Lord," Xiumin replied , feeling the warmth of Chanyeol's touch. Chanyeol tightened his grip around Xiumin's waist, a familiar gesture that spoke of years spent together. "After forty years, I'd think you'd be more comfortable dropping the honorifics with your husband," he teased gently, a smile tugging at his lips.

Minseok's cheeks flushed, his gaze dropping to the floor as he fiddled nervously with his hands. "I'm sorry, Chanyeol, it's just..." he began, his voice hesitant. "While you were away, the others made it clear how fortunate we are to have been turned by you. I don't want to be disrespectful. I am truly thankful to you," he confessed, sincerity lacing his words.

Chanyeol's smile softened, his thumb gently brushing across Minseok's cheek. "Well, I'll have a talk with them," he assured, his voice carrying the weight of authority tempered by affection. As they walked through the grand halls of their home, Chanyeol couldn't shake the feeling of displacement. It had been only a decade since he last roamed these corridors, yet it felt as though a century had passed. Familiar shadows danced upon the walls, memories etched into every corner of the mansion they called home.

Spotting his love, Chanyeol used his speed to tackle Jongdae. They crashed to the floor, the wind knocked out of Jongdae as his century-old lover lay on top of him. "I thought you'd be weaker after your slumber," Jongdae managed to say, chuckling despite the weight on his chest.

Chanyeol laughed softly. "Always be alert." He quickly helped Jongdae up, brushing the dust off both of them. "You've grown your hair out," Chanyeol observed, noting the stark contrast from the buzz cut he remembered.

Jongdae smiled, tucking a loose strand behind his ear. "Yeah, it just felt right, Yeol. It's more accepting now, so I thought..." He trailed off, studying Chanyeol's face, trying to read his expression.

Chanyeol met Jongdae's gaze warmly. "No, it's just... you look beautiful," he said sincerely.

Jongdae's smile widened. His second husband had been an army veteran, serving in the early years of World War II. Even then, Jongdae had known he was gay, coming to terms with his identity had been a struggle, even after being reborn as a vampire. Expression and identity had always been significant challenges for him. Chanyeol knew Jongdae was perhaps the most outwardly feminine among them, loving to paint his nails and finding joy in baking and housework.

Even when deciding who would carry their offspring, Jongdae had made it clear he would be the one to bear Chanyeol's children. This arrangement didn't sit well with the others, but Jongdae managed to give Chanyeol twins—more children than the other boys had.

"Where are the others?" Chanyeol asked. "Suho and Baekhyun are starting their lessons," Jongdae replied, guiding Chanyeol down the hallway and pointing towards the room where their children were completing their studies. "And Baekhyun..." Chanyeol's voice trailed off. "Has he been informed of the rules?"

Jongdae paused for a moment, confused, then realized Chanyeol hadn't had the chance to explain to Baekhyun before he was attacked. "Yes, Lord, he's completely untouched. I made sure of it," Jongdae assured him, but he couldn't meet Chanyeol's gaze as he continued, "We have all remained abstinent since your slumber."

Chanyeol smirked slightly, pride evident in his eyes at the loyalty he had built over the years. "Well, I'll have to address that later," he said casually. "But you and Minseok will have to drop the 'Lord' title. We'll discuss this."

Why shouldn't they address you correctly?" a voice spoke from inside a nearby room. Chanyeol walked forward, spotting Suho holding a book with their son in his arms, reading him a story. "Chanyeol, you've forgotten who you are. It's only right we remind you," Suho said calmly.

With his perfect hearing, Chanyeol realized he should have anticipated that Suho would be aware of his presence. As the oldest among his mates, Suho possessed powers that surpassed the others by light years. "So you're the one I should blame for this," Chanyeol remarked, walking into the room. Maybe you could have worded things better, but luckily Kyungsoo had been by your side to help you explain things to the guys. You stopped by your room to pick out a change of clothes along with your essentials. The noise in the living room got louder by the time you made it to the bathroom. Though you were a little self-conscious about it, you bit your lip and nodded. “Yeah, sure. Though, I planned to wash my hair so I might hog the water for a bit.”

He shrugged and began undressing. “It’s fine with me.”

You took a deep breath and forced yourself not to think about it. He didn’t care. He wasn’t looking at you like that. You turned the shower on then continued yanking off clothes. The second you were completely bare, you stepped in. The warm spray of water felt amazing on your tense neck and shoulders. You rolled your head slowly as you massaged every muscle you could reach.

Kyungsoo stepped in behind you. “Want me to try?”

You nodded, low-key grateful for the offer. He poured some of your shower gel into his hand and lathered up. His touch was nothing short of magical. You had to lean against the wall to keep your balance once you closed your eyes and just let him take over. You jerked when you felt yourself leaning too far and his hands flew to your hips to steady you. “Shit. Sorry.”

“Let’s wash up and get out.” He touched your cheek when you looked over your shoulder at him. You started with your hair, wetting it then adding shampoo while he grabbed a loofah. He washed his body while you gave your scalp a good scrub then rinsed the suds out. The silence between you while you washed was comforting, reassuring even. You wouldn’t mind showering with him in the future. Once you were sure the shampoo was out, you reached for the conditioner, but Kyungsoo gently pried it out of your hand. “Can I? Please, _____?”

Admittedly you were a little apprehensive about it. You hadn’t let anyone touch your hair in years, convinced no one would give it the same care and patience you did. You took great pride in your hair and to allow anyone else near it like that meant you trusted him. Did you trust Kyungsoo? You bit your lip then sighed. Of course you did. Despite your apprehension, the process went smoothly. He was patient and attentive to your instructions and even asked questions for clarity. It was a level of intimacy you’d never had with another person before. He leaned over you with a frown. “How would that be taking advantage? I was the one that offered.”

“One sec,” he whispered reaching somewhere behind you. A warm, weighted blanket covered your body and he settled down again. “I’ve always wanted to do this.” His little smile was everything to you. As he continued the story, you adjusted your position and ended up resting a hand on his chest, just over his heart. Your ear was pressed against his chest and you heard his heartbeat clearly. It was a steady rhythm that was both soothing and reassuring. He pressed a kiss to your forehead just as your eyes closed for the night.

When Kyungsoo felt your body sag against him, he marked the page with his bookmark and closed it with a contented sigh. He’d never be able to fully express how relieved he was everything worked out. As he reached over and cut off the bedside lamp, he recalled the conversation they’d had about you before coming home. The conference call had been a pain to work into their schedule on top of securing privacy for everyone in their different locations.

Yet they’d made it work, just like they were sure to make this work with you.

From there, they were on the same page, a team working together to come up with ways to make sure you wouldn’t have so much to overthink your pretty little head about. Etched Hearts and Broken Parts

Chapter 4

You watched as the thin man paced back and forth in the corridor of the apartment complex. His tan skin illuminated every time he passed by a ray of light coming through the concrete breezeway.

Is this considered “normal, everyday,” celebrity clothes? You wondered as you looked him up and down. Donned in a tropical shirt that obviously looked expensive and name brand, black chokers around his neck, tight white jeans and loafers that looked at the very least limited edition. His mask, dad hat and sunglasses did nothing to hide his celebrity status. He was about as “incognito” as a neon sign in Vegas.

Whether it was looking down at your old converses, rolling and unrolling the sleeves of your striped shirt, or playing with the straps of your overalls, you tried to distract yourself from everything except looking at him.

He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. It looked so soft you wanted to just reach up and touch it.

WAIT. Get it together. You cannot get attached. Cut it out!

As he paced down to the end of the corridor, he turned around and stared you down. “Who are they to you?” he asked.

“I’m sorry?”

“I said, what are they to you?”

You were both facing each other on opposite sides of the hallway. His gaze was strong. Not so strong that you felt fearful or intimidated, but a strength you couldn’t quite place. You weren’t afraid of him, that much was certain. The other one you were much more afraid of, the one who didn’t want you. Either way, you knew you couldn’t get attached. It wouldn’t work, you were the flaw in the system. The accidental soulmate to an already mated couple.

You looked up and you didn’t know when, but he was right in front of you. You almost had to strain to look up at him. “Please, just… who are they? Why do you live with them? What’s your relationship?” He asked again, “Are you…”

Before he could finish, a couple passed in between causing him to break off and go back to his “side” of the hall.

“I- I-,” you began as the couple walked in their apartment down the hall.

Kill this. NOW. Do not let yourself get any kind of hope. You are NOT made for them, for this. You are a fault and nothing more.

You sighed then looked up with determination. “Mr. Park I do not think that’s any of your business.”

“And it’s not any of his business,” Yixing said from the door. He walked up to you and put a hand at your back, “Please leave.” He said as he led you back to your apartment and slammed the door behind you.

The next day you had quite a few words for your boss. You stormed in the studio and yelled, “Jongdae, get your ass in here!”

The guy from the other day was there. He averted his head when your eyes met, obviously feeling a little awkward seeing you again. Jongdae made him sign a waver after the incident so word wouldn’t get out. It had worked, no one who was there that day said a word. 

“Please, _______, don’t kill me,” He whispered as he peeked from the side of a prop he was setting up.

“I will if I want to! How DARE you give out my address! That’s against the law!” 

“Actually, it’s technically “not” against the law seeing as we’re actually, “technically” part - OUCH!” 

His speaking was cut short by your swift pinch to his arm. Partially as payback for giving Park Jongin your address, and partially for almost revealing the secret you had been keeping since the start of the company.

Yes, your boss was not technically your “boss”. You and Jongdae had started the filming company from the ground up. But the thing was, you absolutely hated the business end of it. Paperwork made you gag and the thought of trying to sell why your company was the best made you want to do anything else but the sort. Though you did have to admit, you would defend your company any day, it was one of the top in Korea at this point, all due to the fact that you and Jongdae kept to your positions in the company. 

There was also a perk to working behind the scenes in the company. You had one of the highest employee satisfaction ratings almost solely due to the fact that you were behind the scenes. You were friendly with all of the workers, as the saw you as just a co-worker, so when they complained about something in the company to you, you and Jongdae did your best to correct the situation.

Yes, people were suspicious of you and “the boss” and your quirks, but they just chalked it up to you and him being best friends, and you keeping him in his place.

They trusted you and it was better this way. It was best when no one knew, a permanent “undercover” boss situation.

As Jongdae stopped whining, he looked at you as smiled so mischievously you had the urge to give him another good pinch. “What else did you do?”

“A movie deal,” Jongdae said as he wriggled his eyebrows.

“Wait... what did you just say?”

“A M.O.V.I.E. DEAL!!!” he emphasized again, “And not just any movie deal, THE movie deal. It’s going to put us to the TOP!” 

You were hesitant, it wasn’t like you hadn’t done movies before but they were mostly indie movies, the kinds you send to film festivals, not the big screen.

“How much?” you asked hesitantly.

Jongdae got out his phone and typed the number on his calculator. As you saw zero after zero entered in you began to get giddy. This was it, your chance to prove yourself, to prove your company, to prove your workers, everything. 

you screeched as you both hugged and jumped up and down.

The other guy cleared his throat from behind you. “I’m sorry, but what does this mean?”

You put your hand on his shoulder, “It means the big screen buddy. We are going to the BIG SCREEN.”

You turned back at Jongdae, and he had this guilty look on his face. His excitement vanished.

“... what’s the catch Jongdae?” 

He looked up at you as he shuffled his feet, “Yeah, about that...”

"That's her," Taemin points down into the sea of inebriated people. He hovers over the balcony railing and stares at you with hawk eye vision. He's seen you around the city at night. He's had his eye on you for a while, and you have been the topic of conversation with his long-time bestie, Kai.

You walk in smoothly across the glossy hardwood floor of the late-night bar. The energy in the room is electric.

You’ve been begging your best friend to bring you here, but every time she says you’re not ready.

Your eyes peek around, and the room is covered with people, supernatural creatures, and everything in between. You follow closely behind your best friend, Fatou.

"Damn, that's her?" Kai's dark brown eyes light up when he connects with you. The dark red dress hugs your curvaceous frame in the best way possible.

The short dress comes just above your knees to highlight your legs. But, he's not looking at your legs. Something else has his attention.

Kai admires the sparkle of excitement in your dark brown eyes. You're captivating to him, and he knows you've never been to Step Up Bar before, and now he wants to get closer to you.

He closes his eyes shut and breaths deeply to focus on your energy. He feels your nervous energy ripple through his body.

All the other sounds of chatter, and random thoughts of other cease. Your thoughts now quickly become his.

A tiny smirk appears on his face, and he can hear how you aren't sure if you made the right choice by coming tonight. He also hears that you need a drink to handle the night.

Taemin places his hands on Kai's shoulder and shakes him out of your thoughts. Kai's eyes snap back open, and he catches his breath. He gasps for air, but it's not like he needs it.

"I didn't tell you to get inside of her head," Taemin's voice is laced with ice. His aggression doesn't bother Kai because he's used to his bestie.

"My bad. You know it's a habit," Kai shrugs and returns to the railing.

His eyes still trail after you as you float over to the bar. He thinks about how he can get closer to you, from your kinky curly honey blonde hair with red tips at the bottom.

"I'm sorry. My fault. You know it's a habit," Kai still follows you, and you head over to the bar. He thinks about how he can get closer to you. Your brown skin has a certain glow to it that he admires.

"So, how are we going to make this move?" Taemin inquires. He's a bit calculated, but he wants to see where Kai's head is.

"We should invite her up," Kai eagerly suggests. His eyes dart over to Taemin, and a wicked smile appears on his face.

"In a vamp bar? She's going to think we want to drain her."

"We just want to taste her," Kai says.

"You know Fatou's bougie ass isn't going to let that happen."

"Let's try," Kai says.

He heads over to the security and points you out of the crowd. He also points to Fatou, because he knows you wouldn't feel comfortable being invited to VIP without your bestie.

Security pulls out their walkie-talkie and gives specific instructions.

Kai heads over to his signature table and sits in the middle. Taemin sits next to him. "Listen, let me do the talking. I got this," Taemin insists.

"It's an equal playing field. No charming either. We don't have to use our powers for it anyways," Kai said.

"Ugh," Taemin groans. He's not sure how you will react to both of them.

Sure, Fatou might throw some salt in their game, but they have a backup plan for that. He gives a half-smile.

Kai spots Fatou coming up the stairs, with her arms folded across her chest and an expensive Gucci chain purse hanging off her shoulder. He remembers that Mark got her that purse when they started messing around.

Fatou stands at the table. "Gentleman, good evening," Fatou scans from Taemin to Kai. "I was informed that you invited my friend, Y/N, and me to your VIP section?" Fatou gives a lopsided grin and sneers.

"Yes, it's good to see you again, Fatou," Taemin stands up and walks over to hug Fatou.

"Yeah, yeah, Taemin," Fatou whines, pushing him away from her. She moves into the booth and you are standing there.

"Hi, Y/N, I'm Taemin," Taemin extends his hand to you, and connects his eyes with yours. He's beautiful to you.

His hair is jet black with silver highlights that peek past his shoulder. His eyes are a honey brown, and his nose is so cute. But, you find his full lips the most attractive thing on his face. You are a sucker for beautiful lips on a man.

He has a silky blue blouse that is slightly open, and you can see his chest. The muscular build tells a story, and you assume he takes care of his body. He has a nice dancer figure, and his black pants hug his lower half perfectly.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Y/N," you affectionally coo. You told yourself before you left you would flirt with anyone who showed interest.

You are tired of being a homebody, and you want to live a more adventurous life like your bestie, Fatou.

"It's so good to meet you, too," You beam at the attractive vampire as he leans down to kiss your hand.

But, a small wave of panic overcomes you. You snatch your hand away, and fear ripples your body.

"I'm not going to bite you," Taemin looks up into your eyes, and his eyes quickly glow crimson red. "I'm a complete gentleman, and so is my best friend, Kai," Taemin points in Kai's direction.

"Sorry, it's my first time here," You say. The ripple of fear instantly leaves your body even though his eyes are still glowing.

"No worries. Let's sit you over here by Kai," Taemin grabs your hand and leads you into the booth.

You sit down next to Kai, and he flashes a quick smile at you. You see his fangs, but you catch yourself before you can jump back.

"Boys, you better not charm my bestie, or I'll make sure Mark has your heads on a platter," Fatou casually threatens Kai and Taemin.

"We aren't like that. We don't need to charm anyone. She's a grown woman and can make any choice she wants," Taemin insists.

"So, what do you do for a living?" Kai asks you.

"Fashion designer. I own a boutique over on Hope St," you proudly say.

"Yes, my bitch has the best clothes in town. She designed the dress she's wearing," Fatou backs you up and hypes you as a best friend should.

"Damn, it looks good on you," Kai said.

"I bet it looks even better off," Taemin adds.

"Watch your mouth, Taemin," Fatou says.

"It's harmless. I meant it looks good on mannequins, too," Taemin tries to save face, but you weren't offended by his comment.

You were slightly flattered. Hell, you feel good being sandwiched in between two hot vampires.

A man approaches the table with a shirt similar to Taemin's, but it's black. He stands at the head of the table, and you see he has two wine glasses in his hand.

"Fatou!" He cheerfully speaks to your best friend in almost a melodic cadence. "It's good to see you, baby," he hands her a glass of wine. She places it before her.

"Thank you for the wine. How'd you know I was here?" Fatou asks. She likes to sneak up on Mark, and not tell him. You find her a little bit too controlling, but at the same time, you get it.

"I always sense your presence when you are near me, Darling," Mark winks at her.

"You didn't even speak to my friend."

"I'm sorry, bae. I was so caught up by your beauty," Marks flirts with Fatou even more. She's eating it up because she's smiled more in the last two minutes than the whole night you've been with her.

"Here you go, Y/N. I'm glad you could make it," Mark hands you a drink.

"Thank you," you reply and take a sip. You instantly feel a smooth sense of relaxation take over your body. "This is really good."

"It's from Taemin's vineyard. He makes it himself," Mark compliments Taemin.

"Wow, that's too cool," you say. You place the drink down on the table. Kai picks it up and puts a napkin underneath it for you.

"Fatou, let's hit the dance floor, baby. I want that body all over me. Let's make everyone jealous," Marks extends his hand, and Fatou gets up to go over to him.

"Y'all be good to my girl. Text me if you need me, sis," Fatou mentions to you and heads off with Mark.

For a moment, the silence between the three of you is noticeable. The presence of your best friend is missed, but you are curious about these two guys.

"So, what brings you here to Step Up Bar?" Kai asks.

His eye contact on you is captivating. He doesn't look down at your chest, but keeps his eyes on your face. His smile feels warm, and like you can trust him.

Your bestie, Fatou, who you also call, Tootie, wouldn't leave you alone with them if she didn't trust them.

"I just want to let go and experience life for one night," you say, but leave it open to the imagination of what that truly means.

You thought about it the whole car ride to the club, but you couldn't figure out what you were looking for.

Are you even looking for anything at all? You know that you can have sex without any consequences of an STD or a baby, because of the lack of DNA vampires carry.

But, you aren't sure if you want to have a one-night stand.

"What kind of experience are you looking for?" Taemin asks.

You looked back at Chanyeol and suho to find that both men looked like they were comfortably resting and you couldn’t help but let out another tired sigh.

“whats wrong?” suho whispered

You looked over to Suho once more to find him staring at you with concern. You frowned to him and wiped the beads of sweat that lined your forehead.

“its way too hot in here” you whispered back

Suho rolled onto his side and leaned against an arm so he could raise up to look at you comfortably. You only then noticed that he had also taken off his shirt. You looked at his chest and then back up to his face to see that he was smirking at you for staring.

“you like what you see?” he said playfully, wiggling his eyebrows

You smiled at him and smacked his chest lightly. “shut up”

Suho smiled back at you before he looked down at your sweat stained shirt. “why don’t you take off your shirt?” he asked

You looked up at him like he had lost his mind before you had actually considered it. But the longer that you thought about actually removing it the more it sounded like a decent idea. But you weren’t too sure that you be able to go back to sleep naked next to the two men…and then that would be the next reason why you couldn’t sleep.

“I cant do that” you say shyly under your breath

“why cant you?” he askes you back confused

You stare at him for a moment embarrassed to say that you’re too shy to take off your shirt in front of them despite having already having sex with both men. Even though you had already done something so intimate and personal you were still shy to show off your body.

“your shirt is already covered in sweat” he said explaining “its only going to make you more uncomfortable as it sticks to you”

“don’t be shy.” He said calmly “are you scared to show yourself to me?” he asked

You blinked back to him and his smile began to fade away. You were starting to feel like a fool for not doing such an easy thing. After all it would solve all of your problems. And now suho was feeling like you didn’t want to open up to him.

“I’m not scared.” You said quietly “I know its stupid…. But I’m nervous”

“why are you nervous?” he asked

“I don’t know.” You answered honestly, just above a whisper

Suho reached out and stroked the side of your head in comfort, hoping to calm you down. You stared up at him and gave him a small smile in appreciation. There was no reason not to trust him, but for some reason you were still scared to show yourself to him.

Suho gently reached down for the hem of your shirt and paused to look you in your eyes. You could see the uncertainty in them and you looked down at his hand that held onto your shirt gently for a few moments. When you looked back up at him suho took it as the green light to continue and he began to slowly raise the hem of the shirt.

As it rose past your belly button he stopped pulling it up and ran his hand across your exposed flesh. You looked away and up at the celiling, unable to look him in the eyes. But suho took that as an opportunity to make you feel even more loved since you were so nervous.

He rolled over and lowered himself on the bed so he would be face to face with your stomach and placed loving kisses across your stomach. Only then were you able to look down at him and watch as he showed you love and appreciation.

He used both hands to glide the fabric up over your ribs and across the span of your chest until it was gathered around your throat. And suho slowly took his time to place soft and gentle kisses across your ribs and your breasts.

He tossed the shirt off the side of the bed and place his hands on your back where he messaged small circles into your soft skin. You had watched his face as he smiled at you lovingly, making you feel like you were cherished and appreciated.

“don’t be scared of me okay?” suho asked you softly and you nodded your head in response “lets go back to sleep okay?” he asked and once more you nodded your head

Suho kept your wrapped in his arms on top of his long frame but he pulled the comforter down so the cool breeze of the fan would sweep across your exposed back. You wrapped your arms around suho and relaxed against his chest, feeling comfortable and relaxed for the first time all night and soon sleep had taken over you completely.

The next morning when you had woken up you were surprised to find that Chanyeol was long gone but you were still sleeping on top of suho’s body.

You could feel the rise and fall of suho’s chest as he breathed deeply in his sleep. Likely from the amount of pressure that you were placing on top of his chest and stomach. Gently, you tried to raise your legs to straddle suho so you could roll away from him and leave for breakfast. But as your legs settled on either side of him and you planted your hands on the side of his body to support your weight suho looked up at you.

“good morning” he whispered reaching out to tuck your hair behind your ear.

“morning” you whispered back with a smile “did I wake you up?”

“no I was already awake. I just wanted you to rest a little longer” suho replied

“no, don’t.” he said with a cocky smile “what’s the point of being the boss if I don’t play hooky every once in a while”

You gave him a playful glare with a smile and suho’s smile grew into a bright one. You looked over suho’s shoulder and around the room to find any sort of clock or phone to check the time, but you couldn’t find anything.

“do you know what time it is?” you asked suho hoping that he’d have an idea.

He slid his right hand down from your hip and dug into his sweats pocket and pulled out his cell phone. He unlocked his phone and checked the time before he slid it back into his pants. He took a moment to replace his hand back at your hip and he messaged small circles into your skin.

“it’s almost nine” he said softly as he glanced down at your exposed chest

You noticed his change of focus and smiled down at him. If he wanted to be sexy and cocky with you all day and night then you could play that game too. You slightly arched your back so your breasts were closer to his face and looked down at his seductively.

actually, that’s how you could describe the maknae’s personality in general. his quiet and reserved demeanor often lead people to deem him as shy, but those who really knew him all understood how snarky he could be - and it was showing all too evidently as he laid teasing nips upon your needy lips.

you were perched up in the tall idol’s lap as he sat in his designated chair in front of an inkigayo vanity in the dressing room. the light bulbs were still on and it’s counter was scrambled with different makeup pallets and brushes. you were already helping manage exo in so many ways, so it was no shock that you were also assigned to be their personal makeup artist. you were “pretty talented for a guy”, as baekhyun would tease.

your hands ran through his once perfectly gelled jet black hair before they roamed his chest, which seemed extra broad in his tight fit grey shirt. sehun’s tongue felt like it had a mind of its own as it traced shapes into the roof of your warm mouth. he even tasted like the sweet americano that sat half drank at his feet. you hummed and grabbed his face, kissing into him harder and forcing his head to crane backwards. you didn’t even care that you were probably smearing away the work on his face that took you a solid half hour to complete - you simply couldn’t get enough of him... not that it surprised you. you were weak for all of the exo members, them each being able to pleasure you in their own unique ways, but something about sehun just made you melt with so little effort.

“geez y/n, you’re gonna swallow me whole.” sehun spoke with a daunting smirk after removing his mouth from yours to catch a breath.

you rolled your eyes, trying to appear unbothered in order to hide how turned on you were.

“it’s your fault,” you rebutted, “i was actually trying to be diligent but you were the one with other plans.”

you weren’t lying, since you really did attempt to keep yourself under control. however, sehun had managed to start yet another one of your light banters, and despite your efforts, all it took from there were his sassy comments turning into suggestive remarks in order to have you straddling the older male’s thighs in seconds, kissing the nude lip balm right back off.

“yaah, seriously, y/n is so needy today.” a certain rapper fussed.

chanyeol was laid out on one of the dressing room’s couches - d.o and baekhyun beside him. they were all fully styled in the outfits they would wear for that day’s stage, and looked quite handsome themselves. their faces all held slight annoyance, however their body language was depicting jealousy. the boys rarely got jealous, as you did a pretty good job showing them equal amounts of attention (both emotionally and in the other department), but something must have been in the air as the other members clearly just wanted to get their hands on you themselves.

you and the boys had a fair system in place, the members all agreeing to respect each other whenever they would have their time with you. unless consented in the moment, there were never any interruptions or distractions that occurred out of spite. the exo boys had a strong enough bond and respect for one another to keep that agreement in tact. besides, they frankly seemed to all be on their own different schedules of horny - rarely did more than one of them fiend for you at a time.

so, they wouldn’t have been so bothered with you and sehun if the latter didn’t find so much satisfaction in showing you off any time that you two would engage in a steamy session. whether it be in a dressing room like today, or the dorm’s living room, the kitchen, the van, or even the dance studio - the obnoxious moans and sounds of lips and skin smacking so that the others could hear was something sehun always got off on like the mischievous jerk that he was. and being the youngest member, his drive was pretty high, causing him to always be seeking you out more than the other members.

“he can’t help it, he just likes me most.” sehun taunted in response with a low tone, not breaking eye contact with the slowly forming red marks he was leaving on your collarbone. he then leaned in to the left side of your neck. “don’t ya?”

you smacked his shoulder and went to interject, but your words quickly got replaced with an instant moan when he flattened his tongue on your neck, licking a slow stripe up to your earlobe. with a shaky breath, you looked back up to see the members rolling their eyes and grumbling witty insults at their maknae. xiumin even crossed his arms sporting a dramatic pout, which you usually always caved for. 

you did feel shameful, and were actually shocked at yourself for once again giving into sehun in a public setting. shit, right outside the dressing room door you could even hear the scrambling from other groups and their managers going to-and-fro the stage for their performances. thankfully, suho being the most attentive leader that he was, had your back and had locked the door right when he sensed you were going to act up. there was also the fact that he was discreetly palming himself to your sounds, so it was comical that there was a chance he was doing it for his own benefit as well.

“ha, sure he does.” kai himself chimed in from the corner of the room. he was practicing the song’s choreography in an unbothered manner the whole time, but had to scoff at sehun’s comment. “have your fun now, but when we get back home we all know whose room y/n is going to sleep in tonight.”

sehun was moving in to kiss you once more, but turned his head after hearing kai’s comment. you had to catch yourself from releasing a pathetic whine at the loss of his lips. this was the least perfect time for bickering - you just really wanted to get this neediness out of your system so that you could finish the members preparations with a clear mind and send them on their way to the stage. you needed to wrap it up soon, anyways, since you didn’t doubt that their primary manager would come by asking what’s taking so long in the first place.

“as if, hyung.” sehun shot back, “i’d hate to break it to you, but y/n’s gonna have to be mine for the rest of the day.” he cooed, turning back to look you in the eyes as he cockily said that last part.

“i don’t know...” you teased, drawing out your words. “jongin really does know how to make m-“

you were cut off by sehun grabbing the back of your head. as if to shut you up, he started sloppily making out with the base of your neck. you groaned and ground your bulge down into his, the friction making your eyes roll back. this caused an uproar of snickers and giggles among the other members. you couldn’t believe they were finding amusement in your inability to compose yourself, but despite their laughs you did feel bad at how bothersome this might be to them. however, you forced yourself to drop your conscious and made a mental note to just make it up to each of them later.

overwhelmed by how solid his and your own lengths were becoming, and by how hard his ministrations were on your throat, you grabbed his hair to pull him back up to your mouth. your pink muscles wrestled for dominance as you heavily made out. you both moaned as his tongue continued to press up against yours even when your lips departed momentarily - sehun easily pushing the back of your head to reconnect them. you started grinding against each other fast and sensually, like two needy animals. your whimpers only increased and it was making you regret your actions as you started to need more, maybe you really were gonna contemplate staying with him tonight.

the members around him looked on with curiosity as he fiercely typed, and pressed ‘play’ before setting his phone on the table. immediately, the speaker that kai was using to practice DFTF started blaring HMPH by WJSN Chocome. chanyeol started flailing his long limbs everywhere, flamboyantly dancing the choreo to the high pitched song. kai was caught off guard, but it didn’t take long for him to start giggling and dancing along to the song as well, followed shortly by the rest of the members.

you and sehun’s lips slowly came to pause from their ferocious assaults, and you both turned your heads to see the baffling scene before you. the members started inching closer and closer to you and their youngest member, deranged smiles on their faces. you were confused but couldn’t help bursting into laughter. the maknae huffed out a breath of annoyance, but when baekhyun shoved his face into the small space between you and sehun to squeal the lyrics, even he couldn’t hold back his chuckles.

“alright alright, we get the message!!” you giggle, getting off of sehuns long legs and standing to your feet, dodging d.o and xiumin’s attempts to ambush you with tickles.

there was then a loud knock on the dressing room door, followed by the booming authoritative voice of the groups head manager.

“BOYS, T-MINUS 5 MINUTES UNTIL YOU’RE ON STAGE, WHY IS THE DOOR LOCKED?” she calls.

you all immediately scramble to turn off the music and collect yourselves, kai running to open the door. sehun cursed and quickly tossed you his spare jacket that was draped over his chair, silently motioning to your crotch area. you look down and almost shriek from embarrassment, noticing a small wet patch of arousal that leaked through your boxers to your jeans. how was that even possible?!

you look back up to sehun who adorned an arrogant grin that was way bigger than it should’ve been. you wrap the jacket around just in time for when the door opens, exo’s manager peering into the room suspiciously.

she immediately notices sehun’s clothes wrinkled, hair disheveled and slight makeup smears around his face. you curse internally.

“we’re on deck for our recording! why does he look like a hot mess??” she remarks to all of you.

“s-sorry! i was trying different looks on ‘hun and i just couldn’t come to a decision, and the guys were just loosening up before the stage.” you jump in, praying that you sounded confident enough to be believed. you were left in charge of them, after all. 

their manager pinched the bridge of her nose while squeezing her eyes shut. she clicks her tongue and looks at her clipboard. 

“i can buy you 10 extra minutes. fix him.” she finally said, turning on her heels and leaving the room swiftly.

you all exhale a deep sigh of relief, before collecting yourselves at once. thankful to have been spared, you pick up your makeup pallet and brush, quickly getting restarted on fixing the mess you made on sehun’s face.

“oh.. if only noona knew i already got my fix.” the boy spoke just above a whisper, causing you to blush and all of the members to grumble loudly once again.

You didn’t have the slightest idea what to cook for dinner. Usually, you just went with a meal plan, but you forgot to make one. In between your errands and making sure the dorm was fit to house all nine of them, meal planning somehow slipped between the cracks. Literally everything else had been taken care of, yet there you stood without the foggiest idea of what they should eat.

The front door beeped, signaling the use of a key card, then clicked. Kyungsoo stepped in, rolling his luggage behind him. His eyes swept the room before landing on you. A small smile formed on his lips. “_____, I’m home.”

You stepped out from behind the counter and made your way over to him. “Welcome home, Soo. Here, I’ll take your things for you.”

He shook his head. “No need. I can get it. But thank you.”

Your shoulders slumped. “If you change your mind—”

“I promise to call you.” His eyes met yours and held your gaze. “Jagi, you don’t have to push yourself so much for us.” He turned away, leaving you standing there at a loss for words.

You returned to the kitchen and flipped through the recipe book for the third time. It wouldn’t be long before the rest showed up, trickling in like a stream in a forest. It should have made you more anxious about cooking, but oddly enough, you found comfort. Life was flat-out boring without them around. Sure, they were chaotic and did no favors for your poor heart, but you wouldn’t trade them for anyone else in the world.

By the time you reached the rice and noodle section of the book, Kyungsoo came out of his room and made a beeline for the kitchen. You figured he was thirsty, but he didn’t stop in front of the fridge. Instead, he came to your side and put an arm around your shoulders.

He pressed his lips to your temple. “What are we looking at?” He asked, looking over the pages.

“Dinner ideas. I dunno what I want to cook.” You looked up at him. “Any requests? Please say yes.”

He frowned and bit his lip for a second, then his face lit up. “I do, actually.” He put his hands on your shoulders and gently guided you away from the book, around the island to one of the two barstools. “You sit and relax. I’ll cook.”

“What? No!” you protested, immediately jumping down before he could completely turn away. “It’s my job to feed you guys.”

He shrugged and guided you back up onto the chair. “Don’t care. I don’t get to cook often enough. I’ll do something quick and simple and you can supervise while keeping me company.” He stuck out his hand. “Deal?”

You eyed his hand with a pout, disgruntled yet unable to resist his puppy dog eyes. When it was clear he wasn’t about to change his mind, you placed your hand in his. “Deal.”

With that, he got to work pulling out utensils, pots and pans, and ingredients from the fridge and pantry. He chopped and diced, measured liquids, and sifted powders. Whatever he was making was from scratch. You were so captivated by his finesse that you didn’t notice neither of you was speaking to each other until he broke the silence. “If you don’t mind me asking, have you spent more time thinking about our situation?”

“Huh? What?” You sat up straight.

He bit his bottom lip and looked away for a second. “It’s my understanding that Jun talked to you about our intentions. Made it clear what we—all of us—want from you.” His chopping slowed to a stop. “You’re still up for that, right?”

“Oh!” You looked down at your hands and twirled your thumbs. “I…Yeah. I think about it all the time, actually. Still a little unsure about it.”

Kyungsoo nodded. “I understand.” He put down the knife and wiped his hands on a dishcloth. “Alright, let’s talk about it.”

You huffed with a shrug. “I don’t know where to start. I never do when I try to sort through it on my own, you know? Like…it’s so much all at once.”

He pulled out a saucepan and skillet from under the counter. “Overwhelming, huh? I can imagine suddenly having the affection and attention of nine men being more than you’re prepared to deal with.” The skillet went to the stove with care while he placed the saucepan in the sink. “You know you can tell us to chill out whenever you need a break. The last thing we want is to push you too far so soon into this. It’s new for everyone involved, but it doesn’t exist without you.”

You nodded and gnawed on your bottom lip. Silence settled between you two as he filled the pot with water. Your thoughts were all over the place. Where should you start? What should you say? The more you struggled to put your thoughts and feelings into words, the more frustrated you got. Without a word, Kyungsoo placed a water bottle between your hands.

“Thank you,” you whispered.

“Stress and dehydration don’t mix.” He went back to cooking, adding spices in with the vegetables. A heavenly aroma filled the air and your stomach growled in response.

“No shit,” you mumbled, uncapping the bottle and drinking half of it right away. When you put the bottle down, you resigned yourself to word vomiting until you couldn’t think of anything else to say. “I feel like a slut for wanting two guys, much less nine. Even more so since I technically work for them. Then there’s the whole ‘don’t shit where you eat’ thing. If things go bad because of this, I’m potentially out of a job. I don’t think it would be so bad if I didn’t also live here, so there’s that too.”

The front door opened and a jolly voice called out, “Honey, I’m home!” Baekhyun appeared in the hallway dragging his suitcase. “Soo! You’re cooking?” He crossed the kitchen with a little skip, throwing his arms around your neck and crushing your face to his chest. “And how is my favorite brat doing?”

You fought against his hold, struggling until he released you with a kiss on the top of your head. “I am not a brat.”

“Three out of nine experts agree you can get mouthy when you’re not getting your way.” He dodged your swing and stuck out his tongue. “Anyway. Gonna shower and take a nap. Wake me when dinner’s ready, though.”

Kyungsoo agreed to Baekhyun’s request, then waited until he heard a door close. “Okay, so that’s a lot to unpack.” He paused to drink from his own water bottle. “Honestly, you’ll feel bad about it for as long as you care about what others think of you. I know, it’s easier to talk about not caring than actually doing it. It’s something we could help you work on. Personally, I see it as a testament to how desirable you are. The people who’d say things like that about you likely could never find themselves in the same situation.”

“If you’re about to say something about sticks and stones--”

He smirked. “No, but I’m glad you know the saying.” He stirred the food in the skillet. “I don’t know if this will mean much to you, but none of us think that way of you. You know that, right? You do so much for us with the brightest smiles we’ve ever seen.” Noodles went into the pot of boiling water. “You’re as important to us as we are to each other.”

You shook your head. “Am not.”

“Without you, we wouldn’t look forward to coming home as much. I mean, yeah it’s nice to relax, but really, we look forward to sharing our experiences with you. We want to take you with us on trips and tours so badly, but we can’t. Not without putting you in danger. So we can’t wait to come home and share our stories and give you souvenirs…” He turned to look at you. “Home isn’t home without you. No one else could ever make this place our home the way you do.” He turned back to the stove. “So, for us, it isn’t about sex. Our main motive is making sure you’re taken care of the same way you take care of us. You do a lot of giving and make a lot of sacrifices. We want to make it clear that we appreciate you by giving you the most precious thing we have to give: our feelings.”

You balked at the words. “I don’t need thanks for doing my job!”

The front door opened again, this time followed by loud talking and laughter. Junmyeon came in with Sehun, followed by Jongdae and Minseok. They each stopped to give you hugs and forehead or cheek kisses before continuing on to their rooms. You caught the pointed look Junmyeon gave Kyungsoo before he disappeared. Kyungsoo turned off the stove and pulled down plates. You scrambled off the stool to help him get out the things needed to set the table.

“_____,” he murmured when you were close enough. “Is this really just a job to you?”

“Huh?” You looked at him. The question made little sense. You never said it was just a job, did you? Did you give the impression—

“There are things you do that other maids for other groups don’t do.” He sighed softly, “Things that even friends don’t do. You remember little details we mention one time in passing. Like the name of the body wash Sehun got from a hotel that he really liked. Or hunting down discontinued things we like. Or putting up new pictures of our family and pets for us to see when we get home.”

“Am I not supposed to do those things?” You asked, becoming increasingly unsure of your duties.

He gave you a long look, then shook his head, putting down the plates. “How can I put this?” He closed his eyes for a second. “Those actions are very intimate and are, if I’m being honest, things we’d like our girlfriend or wife to do. Things like that aren’t done for an employer unless asked for. We never ask for the incredibly thoughtful things you do.”

“Then, should I stop?”

“No. No.” He grabbed your hands and held them to his lips. “Let me ask you this. Why haven’t you gone on dates or even had casual hookups since you started working here?”

“Because I haven’t had time. That and there’s not much privacy when you’re all here.”

“And when we’re overseas? Do you go out and date when we’re not even in the country?”

How could you tell him you’re usually too exhausted from trying to keep up with them to think about your love life without sounding pathetic? “I…do not. I like to stay on top of my chores and prepare for your return. I love my job and take it seriously!”

He let go of your hands to cup your face. “Jagi, listen to me. Do you love your job, or do you love us?” The question floored you. “Because we have the impression that you’d still do all that you do for us even if you weren’t paid to do it.”

You couldn’t even tell him he was wrong. They were more than a paycheck to you. They were dear friends, pushing their way to becoming more. Something that you’d always been afraid of and avoided like the plague. Yet, somehow, you blurred the line between you over a cup of orange juice.

Someone lightly touched your back as they opened the fridge next to you. “He’s right.” Junmyeon leaned into view and smiled. “Oh, love. You should see your face. Remember that whole honest expressions talk?” He touched your nose. “This is one of those moments where it really shines.”

“Dinner’s ready, by the way,” Kyungsoo said without looking away from you.

“Good. The others will be home in a minute.” Junmyeon patted Kyungsoo’s shoulder, then disappeared.

You looked at Kyungsoo, searching his eyes for some sort of reassurance as he searched yours for confirmation. You licked your lips and whispered, “I’m scared, Soo.” His thumbs caressed your cheeks. “What if it doesn’t work out? And I don’t want to lose you guys’ respect either. Hell, I don’t want to lose respect for myself. And I love this job. I can’t imagine losing everything just because I got greedy.”

“You’re not being greedy, jagi. You have needs we want to satisfy.” He rubbed his nose against yours, then gave you a soft, lingering peck on the lips. “Don’t you deserve to be taken care of, too?”

“Well, ideally, yes, but not by my employer.” You closed your eyes, aware of how ridiculous you sounded, but still unable to let it go. “I can’t help but feel like the sex is tied to my paycheck, and it makes me feel…cheap. Kinda worthless. I want nothing more than to throw caution to the wind, but I know how easy it is to be tossed aside and left to fend for myself. It was hard to get this job and I know I’ll have a hard time finding work if I get fired for having sex with one guy, much less what amounts to a basketball team. The culture here isn’t too forgiving on women.”

“I get that.” He pressed his forehead to yours and looked into your eyes. “But, and hear me out first, would you rather keep the job and things remain professional or lose it to have us without all this guilt?”

The front door opened again, but you didn’t pay attention to who came through it. “What do you mean ‘lose it?’ If I lose this job, there won’t be another job for me. Not one with the benefits this one has. A-and if I lose it, fuck, I lose you all. There wouldn’t be any having you. And the guilt would eat me alive, regardless.” You tried to pull away, but he turned you so that your back was against the fridge and held you against it. “How-how can you even say it so calmly like that? Like losing me wouldn’t hurt you at all. I…I don’t get it.”

“God, does your brain do this with everything? Over-think and jump to conclusions, then get yourself all worked up over what’s ultimately nothing.” He wiped your cheeks with his thumbs, bringing your attention to the way unshed tears lined your eyes. “No wonder you’re blindsided by this. You spend too much time in this beautiful mind of yours, baby.” He wrapped his arms around your waist and held you against his chest. “I was just suggesting you quit. Then you can get another job with none of the issues you’re worried about, like something flexible that allows for travel.”

Your stomach dropped to your toes as your heart stuttered. “You want me to quit?”

“It’s just an idea I had.”

You looked away and blinked back a fresh wave of tears. “But then, where will I go when you hire someone to replace me?” You swallowed hard. The thought of someone new moving into your room and getting to know them the way you had tore you apart. Maybe you were wrong, and this was all a lie. By giving into the lust—that’s what it had been, right?—you’d obviously disgusted them enough to come up with this clever way of cutting you off and kicking you out. The thought settled around your heart with an icy vice-grip.

“You’re literally doing the over-thinking thing again, right here in my face.” He exhaled loudly and moved his hands to your shoulders with a squeeze. “How many ways can we possibly put it? We need you. We want you. We’ll always want you, ____. There is no ‘replacing’ you for us. If you quit, we will not be hiring anyone else.”

“Then who’s gonna do the chores and run errands? Who’ll check in on the fur babies--”

He cut you off with a kiss. “You, love. You can still do those things, if you want, except we’re gonna help you. We’ll keep the house in order together. All of us. You’ll keep your room. Everything will stay the way it is now, except you’ll be free to travel with us. No more leaving you behind. We’ll figure out your job situation because it’s clear you want to be independent. It’ll take some time, but we’ll respect that…as best we can.” He looked to the side and pulled you away from the fridge and turned you. You got a glimpse of someone’s chest before Kyungsoo let go and you were pulled into a warm embrace. “Hey, Nini.”

Jongin pressed a chaste kiss to the side of your head and followed it with a soft rumbling reply. “Hello. I missed you guys.” You waited for him to let go and were pleasantly surprised when he continued to cuddle you, breathing in your scent as he reveled in your warmth. His lips moved to your ear as he murmured, “Did you miss me like l missed you, sweetheart?”

Your cheeks caught fire as you did your best to hide a smile, bringing your arms up to hold him close. “I…Yes, I did. I always do.”

Jongin’s arms tightened around you. “I’m glad to hear that.” He pulled back with a wide grin. “I brought you some stuff back from the fashion show.”

“Like what? It can’t be clothes.” You shook your head. “You don’t know my sizes.”

He laughed and kissed you. “Not off the top of my head. It’s in the group chat history, though.”

“You’re kidding, right?” You looked at him, completely serious. Jongin walked you backward until your back hit a counter, then lifted you up onto it. “I don’t need clothes, Nini.”

He shrugged, paying no attention to the sudden flurry of movement around you. Plates, cups, and silverware clattered as they moved the food to the dining room. Jongin turned your attention back to him with his finger. “I don’t see the point of all the money and fancy things if I don’t have someone to share it with.” He leaned in and lowered his voice. “And I saw the picture of you with Junnie at the party. That dress…” He bit his lip and let it go slowly. “I admit I was jealous, but it also inspired me to have you at my side like that.”

“So you’re finally coming around to the appeal of role play?” Jongdae snickered as he pulled a bottle out of the wine fridge.

Jongin rolled his eyes as his cheeks flushed. “I’m getting there.”

Jongdae patted his shoulder and smiled at you. “Hello, beautiful.” He leaned over and kissed your cheek.

“Table’s set!” Chanyeol hollered from the dining room. Jongin stepped back and allowed you to hop down. Kyungsoo appeared at your side, taking your hand and leading the way to the table. You were surprised to see all of them taking their seats, including Yixing and Chanyeol, who you didn’t even see come in.

“Hi, _____.” Yixing batted his eyelashes at you, taking your hand and brushing a kiss to the back of it once you were within reach.

“Welcome home.” You squeezed his hand.

He pulled out the empty chair beside him and gestured for you to sit. In no time, everyone was seated and began pouring drinks and loading their plates with meats and noodles. It wasn’t long before the conversation in the kitchen slipped to the back of your mind. You got swept up in their travel stories. Jongdae’s flight somehow got mixed up and he ended up in Siberia for a weekend, something Minseok and Baekhyun found utterly delightful. Yixing’s staff pulled a prank on him, resulting in him cross-dressing as Little Red Riding Hood. Sehun and Chanyeol got to see an elephant perform tricks, then ride it. Best of all, the last performance of Junmyeon’s play had sold out.

Throughout each tale told to a backdrop of silverware scraping plates and various degrees of giggles, you couldn’t imagine not being there. It made you realize Kyungsoo had a point. Would you listen this intently to anyone else? Would you bother to go all out with little touches and gifts that might be overlooked for another group? Would you enjoy the work as much if you weren’t doing it for them?

“We should revise the chore chart and make a menu!” Baekhyun volunteered, receiving a shout of agreement from the group along with pats on the back.

“While we’re at it,” Minseok smiled, the light in his eyes dancing with mischievous mirth. “She needs a bigger bed.”

Junmyeon snapped. “You have the nerve to bring that up?! I’m still mad at you for that stunt.” He put down his fork as if he knew it’d become a weapon in a minute. 

“If she had a bigger bed, we wouldn’t have ended up on the floor. I needed more surface area to work with.”

“You’re the oldest! You’re supposed to be leading by example.”

Minseok nodded. “You’re right.” He looked down the table at the others. “Guys, listen up.
