Goat will definitely not a good parent, at least not good at teaching children
They tried to not become a person like their father, they did it, they won't hit their kids, but will use every words they can use and yelled at the children when they made them upset
Redniran have noticed this problem, he had the long conversation everytime they yell at children
#goatverse#“why do you still alive?”#“I'm a failure that raise a child such like you”#“why can't you be like others?”#An Asian Goat...#every kids will afraid them#except zenobia#i have many bad words could use thanks to my mother#probably will only write them down in my language

hi. question. do u think cyrus and rosaire would get along. u talked abt it in another ask but i’m too lazy to look. yea <3
no see i think cyrus/aurelius/rosaire/gabriel would be THE toxic polycule like fr. but i think cyrus and rosaire especially are so similar that they’d stare at each other suspiciously for a week, fuck nasty about it and then fall from grace in a blaze of homoerotic self-destructive glory.
#like. they’d destroy each other but destroy themselves in the process <3#this is assuming that zenobia and aurelius weren’t there for damage control#if those two were involved it would just end in like. yeah polycule except they hate each other.#daily hate sex but hate as in domestic arguments about dumb things like the plural of octopus#yk

So, elaborate for me.. Why Leander? Make me see it? Because I can't.
oh . ohohohoho. OHOHOHO. i have actually been gnawing at the bit for someone to ask this eventually because i could go on and on and on and on and on etc about why i latched on to him specifically!! i'm gonna put a wholeass essay under the cut for whoever cares!
so. why do i love leander so much? there are a few reasons. first of all:
he's a massive loser. i have always loved characters that are pathetic little guys, and the minute i saw him i could just tell he was a stupid dumb idiot who was going to need a defender.
i also, quite frankly, see a lot of myself in him. i was bullied in school, and i often acted a lot like he does. i tried to make myself look better than i was (especially in front of new kids at school), i overcompensated for everything, and generally being kind of annoying? so this all makes me think that he almost certainly gets bullied. i mean, we have the summoner's court kids basically saying he's the biggest loser around, zenobia calling him untalented, and in his first proper interaction with MC he almost gets himself crushed to death by a dragon skull. poor baby.
i always viewed his interactions with MC as him finally seeing the opportunity to make a new friend, but not quite knowing how. he already seems socially awkward to me (and bonus points, i HC he's autistic as well), and MC is THE cool new kid. by the time you properly meet him, MC has survived a dragon attack, single handedly taken down a troll, and depending if you've already started doing side quests, has been running about the highlands solving everyone's problems easily. i imagine he feels quite insecure, and so he tries to make himself look better (i.e. i definitely would have beaten sebastian in that duel, i fight with honour). also, he clearly doesn't think before he speaks, and so i think he just unintentionally comes off as a bit rude? like his comment about slytherins, if your MC is slytherin, then he immediately apologises because he didn't stop for 5 seconds to consider what he was about to say.
this bit from the art book basically confirms all my HCs about him being an insecure dork, which makes him very endearing to me!
i think a lot of these behaviours are just because he's, at the end of the day, a stupid teenage boy who doesn't know where he belongs. also in my HC he's got older siblings that are very accomplished, which on top of him clearly not being very good at magic and having basically no friends except garreth, probably doesn't help :(
obviously, he's not for everyone. but for me personally i just see him as a stupid baby who will eventually grow out of his insecurities and his more childish behaviour. either way i will always adore him and give him all the smoochies<3<3
#moral of the story: leander prewett is a cringefail loser who i must defend with my life.#leander prewett#hogwarts legacy#asks

any suggestions for queer books for a junior high school library? there's a book order coming up in december and i noticed my school is severely lacking in queer books so i need some ones to request. in particular, we're really lacking in books with transgender and/or bisexual main characters. (also, i'm in the south so books that have been targeted by bans may not be available here)
Absolutely yes. The ban-targeting is definitely a challenge (my Cool for the Summer is actually a great fit for this but may be an issue for that reason), but let’s see what we can do!
For trans main characters I think are a good fit for that age, try Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas, Zenobia July by Lisa Bunker, the graphic novel Cheer Up! by Crystal Frasier, Val Wise, and Oscar O. Jupiter, the upcoming graphic novel Girlmode by Magdalene Visaggio and Paulina Ganucheau (upcoming as in 3 weeks from now, so it’ll be out by December), Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller (genderfluid MC), The Heartbreak Bakery by AR Capetta (agender MC, transmasc LI), The Passing Playbook by Isaac Fitzsimons, Spell Bound by FT Lukens (nonbinary MC), Most Ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa, I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver (nonbinary MC), Self Made Boys by Anna-Marie McLemore, and The Borrow a Boyfriend Club by Page Powars. (Those are all YA except Zenobia July, but I felt like that one might work for older tween readers in a way other titles might not, just because the MC’s a hacker, which is cool.)
For bi main characters, some of the above also fit (I Wish You All the Best and The Borrow a Boyfriend Club come to mind immediately), and also try Cool for the Summer, Some Girls Do by Jennifer Dugan, You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson, Wish You Weren’t Here by Erin Baldwin, Running With Lions by Julian Winters, Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli (Imogen is newer and great but not sure if college visits are as interesting to junior high students?), Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales, Hani & Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar, I’ll Be the One by Lyla Lee, The Disasters by MK England, the Emry Merlin series by Robyn Schneider, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee, and They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera.

EVERYONE HAS BROWN EYES!
Except Garreth, Ominis, Cressida and Adelaide!

Long post full of slightly unflattering pictures of eyes and eyebrows incoming:

Or so I found. If you can name any other NPC who doesn't have brown eyes, please do so! Garreth can't be the only one with green eyes! (Among the students at least, haven't checked the adults yet...)
Now, let the brown-eyed-parade commence! (I really am not complaining!)
Starting with: Sebastian, Poppy, unnamed Slytherin boy and Andrew Larson

Continuing with: Grace Pinch-Smedley, Astoria Crickett, Zenobia Noke and Leander

On with: Samantha Dale, Natsai Onai, Amit Thakkar, Lucan Brattleby and Nellie Oggspire

And last and certainly least (sorry): Duncan Hobhouse and Everett Clopton

Concluding: 15 out of these 19 students have brown eyes. The lighting was never 100% perfect for these, but despite my bad eyesight I can at least confirm that Cressida and Adelaide do have blue-ish eyes (or green-ish?! The longer I stare at those, the less sure I am XD), while the rest of the students (except Garreth and Ominis obv) range from all kinds of brown eyes (hazel and darker and whatnot, I'm no expert). Which is, I guess, quite common in Britain/Scotland? (Again, neither expert nor a native - though I just did a very quick google search and apparently brown is rather rare?! At least today, let's just say in 1890 more ppl had brown eyes...)
Also: Adelaide has the longest eyelashes and Ominis and Grace have the best groomed eyebrows! Only Everett's glasses have nose pads and all three of them are round. (Things I noticed while staring at these for hours...)
Oh and I forgot so many! Let's look at them without picture evidence (lemme check the HL wiki real quick ahem):
Nerida Roberts (brown) Imelda Reyes (brown) Violet McDowell (brown)
Lenora Everleigh (brown) Sacharissa Tugwood (green???) Arthur Plummly (brown and glasses) Charlotte Morrison (brown) Evangeline Bardsley (brown)
(so it's now 22 out of 27 for brown eyes!)
Case in point, I'd say, even more ppl with brown eyes! (Have to take pictures of Sacharissa next!)
So, yeah, thanks for coming to my TED talk!
(Brown eyes rules! Though as a green-eyed-person myself I wish there were more of us XD)

I went back to my first truly harrowingly Evil Dark Urge playthrough to grab some screenshots and... got sucked back into playing lol. But the thing is, the most evilest ending has no epilogue and the "reject Bhaal at the last minute instead of at the temple" epilogue is ALSO fascinating and gut-wrenching and harrowing but what I really missed from both runs was getting to see the fruits of her egging everyone on to be their worst possible self, so...
I went back and decided to play it a little differently. I gave Aylin to Ketheric the first time (and then to Larroakan when we defeated him but she was seriously side-eying my evil Durge after, rightfully so, and Durge couldn't leave a powerful threat like that lying around obvs), which sadly loses you Shadowheart so this time I'm going with Dark Justiciar Shadowheart.
I was a little stumped on the RP for it at first, because Zenobia (my Dark Urge) was all about, "Jumping right back into the Dead Three plot from the moment she got even a smidge of memory back," which lent to her siding with Ketheric loyally and basically working with the bad guys at almost every opportunity (except for the very beginning where she was wrong-footed and out of her element so she built up allies by helping the tieflings while she got the lay of the land. She's a big believer in long-term pay off over short-term murderizing. Also, the sadistic pay-off for betrayal is so much greater than that of simply attacking right away.)
But then I decided... heck, let's groundhog day it. Let's go with the time loop or foreknowledge plot, everything I know, my Durge knows now.
Say she had a vision, or was reborn to this moment. She saw all the variations of what's to come. Saw what happens if she sides with her father. Sees what happens if she betrays him at the last moment to destroy the brain, which was a humiliation piled upon humiliation despite her long and faithful years of service.
And she is pissed.
It's starts when she gets chewed out for giving Isobel to Ketheric. She knows she's going to kill the priestess later but for now, this is a valuable tool in showing her trustworthiness to Ketheric, and Bhaal is mad at her?? Because she decided to delay her gratification in pursuit of the larger goal?? And then, then, Bhaal has the audacity to force her to try to kill her friend and former lover, Astarion, as punishment for using her intelligence to pursue the larger goal of the Dead Three plot with some level of cunning and forethought?
She was fucking outraged. Here she's been Bhaal's faithful child, chosen, general, and mortal mastermind for years and her father can't even trust her enough to allow her to exercise the bare minimum of strategy?
And from there, as I see it, Zenobia sees more and more instances of Bhaal just not fucking trusting her with carrying out this plot, which she knows in another lifetime she pulled of spectacularly, but which offered an empty, hollow victory of handing dancing puppets over to Bhaal, ruling in his name instead of her own.
And then, then while confronting Ketheric, Ketheric admits he always planned to betray his allies.
Oh she is seeing red now. Granted, all the Dead Three chosen were planning to betray each other, that's probably a given, except... Gortash wasn't. Gortash was faithful to the end if she was faithful to him. Minthara is faithful to the end. Her companions were.
So it's less that her new chance at life is making her "good" and more that it's showing her the valuable allies she tossed away, the more interesting world she could reside in, in favor of creating a world of mindless murder targets for her equally mindless, idiot father Bhaal. What an imbecile. What an insult that he doesn't give her the barest modicum of trust. What an insult that Ketheric bald-faced tells her that he would throw all of this aside for his own ends, because he's following his own idiot god.
Zenobia is seeing absolute red. Her plan still remains. She will help Gale ascend to godhood and leave the last of his soft-hearted scruples behind. She will help her former lover and friend, perhaps her first true friend, Astarion destroy his master and rise to become a powerful ally. She will deny her lover Minthara the easy win of a kingdom of thralls in favor of the more challenging but satisfying bloody return to the Underdark together. She will aid Shadowheart in becoming a Dark Justiciar. She will tear down each of Lae'zel's gods one by one, from helping to reveal Vlaakith's faithlessness to showing her even Orpheus can become what he despises most, a mindflayer. But now it is not to show them the supremacy of Bhaal but to show them they should cast down all gods. And this time, she will not hold herself separate, no, she will cast Bhaal from her life as well to pursue her own bloody ambitions in a world of true adversaries, not one populated by mindless thralls as he directed her but did not trust her to execute according to her own vision.
#the dark urge#long post#bg3#rambling my own silly story about my own silly character#i've always had a soft spot for video game fics#where the character is in the time loop that out of game is like when the player starts a new save and knows everyone#and it's the character changing their decisions based on new knowledge#it's a silly conceit but I adore it#it works well for games like BG3 and Mass Effect in particular#like how did you know how this puzzle worked Tav?#don't worry about it guys I got this also don't trust that guy over there#like it's just so satisfying to imagine your character also has seen the other possible lifetimes just as you have#and their companions are watching in fearful confusion and awe

Year 5. Once Upon a Breakfast
The morning sun streamed into the black lake. The beams were directed to the Slytherin dormitory through gigantic windows. The sound of giant squid waking Vianka with its gentle warmth. To her delight, she realized she had no classes today. It was the perfect opportunity to complete Zenobia’s favor: finding six hidden Gobstones scattered in hard-to-reach places around the castle. The task promised useful rewards—ink, parchment, and quills—and a chance to familiarize herself with the sprawling Hogwarts grounds. It also wouldn’t hurt to spread a positive image among her friends.
After a quick breakfast, Vianka chatted with Imelda Reyes in the Great Hall. Imelda, with her strong frame and confident demeanor, was already making a name for herself as the best flyer in Slytherin, if not the entire school.
“Hey,” Imelda said, leaning in with a conspiratorial grin. “I’ve got a secret Quidditch practice later. If you’re interested after your first flying class, come find me. But don’t tell anyone—it’s invite-only.”
Vianka smiled. "Err, I don't know whether I'll be able to stick on the broom... but... I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, Imelda.”
Imelda, ever competitive, has too much confidence and brushed a strand of her dark hair out of her face. “Flying’s in my blood. My Nimbus 1910 isn’t just the newest model—it’s a gift from my father. He was a legendary chaser back in the day. No one flies like me, but I’m always up for showing someone the ropes.”
As Vianka was about to leave the hall, she encountered an all-too-familiar sneer from Malfoy and his crony.
Malfoy’s lip curled as he looked her up and down. "I can’t fathom why the Sorting Hat was idiotic enough to put a filthy Mudblood in our noble house.”
Before Vianka could respond, Ominis stepped forward, his voice calm but firm. "Don’t you dare refer to her in such a manner. She possesses more wit and value than the three of you could muster together—even on your most exceptional day."
Crabbe smirked. "Watch it, Gaunt. You wouldn’t want your parents finding out about this little stunt, would you?"
Malfoy’s sneer deepened. "You’re treading on very thin ice, Gaunt. We’ve tolerated your association with Sallow, despite his so-called pure-blood family being riddled with Muggle-lovers and impoverished fools—but aligning yourself with her? It seems your blindness extends far beyond your eyes."
Vianka, who had grown up among Muggles, didn’t feel particularly insulted by the slur. Her pragmatism dictated that wealth mattered far more than bloodline. However, before she could brush it off, Sebastian, already fuming, stepped forward and delivered a hard punch to Malfoy’s nose.
The crack of impact was unmistakable. Blood spurted as Malfoy stumbled back, clutching his face and shrieking. "You dare break my nose?!"
Lestrange quickly joined in Crabbe and Goyle, swinging clumsily at Sebastian, who dodged as best he could while trying to defend himself.
Vianka, caught in the chaos, grabbed a bunch of bananas from a nearby table and hurled them at the attackers, shouting, "Help, somebody, help Sebastian; he was attacked."
Ominis, as calm as ever, stepped into the fray, his voice cutting through the commotion like a blade. "Malfoy, for a family so indebted to mine, you do seem remarkably inclined to run your mouth. A word of caution—don’t forget, the next three full moons mark your repayment deadline."
Malfoy froze, his sneer replaced by fear. He muttered something under his breath, then turned and stormed away, his lackeys trailing behind him.
Ominis turned to Vianka, his tone softer. "Pay no mind to their words, Vianka. Their expressions aren’t the only things twisted with disdain—their dispositions are much the same."
Vianka smiled faintly. “Honestly, I don’t care what they say. But... thanks for standing up for me, Ominis. And Sebastian, let’s get you to the hospital wing.”
Sebastian groaned, clutching his bruised knuckles. “It’s fine, really. I’ve taken worse.”
Vianka raised an eyebrow, examining the cut on his eyebrow that was now bleeding. “Your eyebrow’s torn, and it’s going to scar permanently if we don’t get it fixed.”
“Scar or no scar, it was worth it to see Malfoy’s face when I hit him,” Sebastian quipped, grinning despite his injuries.
The trio made their way to the hospital wing, Vianka and Ominis walking close on either side of Sebastian. As they climbed the stairs, Vianka couldn’t help but feel a growing bond with her two friends, forged in the chaos of their shared adventures.

Monster Never Cry

Been a while, huh? I’m back for another Monster Girl review, I feel this time more than any other I need to introduce what I’m reviewing
Monster Never Cry is a Gacha game whose premise is you are the recently defeated Demon Lord, tasked with rebuilding her army and retaliating against the warriors who got you. There’s also a weird meta aspect to it where the whole thing is an MMO, but it’s a mobile game. Who’s playing this for the story? Nah, like most mobile game players, I’m here for the PNGs. Like actually, I would never have given this game a shot if not for the whole monster thing. We got a lot of monsters to cover this time, I’m reviewing every fem presenting monster available in this game, so I’ll be going through each entry quickly.
Coronis
So she’s like an archer crow lady? Not really a monster is she? That artwork doesn’t really do her favors, but the alt skin looks pretty nice.
Lilith
Not exactly an original idea but it’s executed pretty well here. Rich fancy vampire princess, what else can I say?
Sadora
This design is great, among my favorite in the whole game. It’s a shame it’s stuck on a mid tier monster, in terms of gameplay. Creepy animated dolls are what got me to try out Bloodborne, we don’t see enough of them and this one is among the best I’ve seen.
Undine
I think she’s a water elemental or a minor deity or something. It conveys that idea well enough, and the harp angle is interesting but it’s just not really for me.
This does give me the opportunity to address what I’ve referred to in the past as the “paint her blue” problem. Monsters in this game have a small chance to be shiny like in Pokémon, and in many cases the shiny has a more human skin tone. I previously expressed distaste for this trope but this game’s monsters make me reconsider my opinion.
Sylph
This game has a few plant girls and they all have the same problem, they’re all pretty much just girls with plant bits on them. This one’s pretty good though, and I like the Mario reference in her shiny, intentional or not.
Oul
I think this one’s supposed to be a Djinn? Her title implies she’s some sort of mage and in game she acts like a merchant, so I’m not sure. The design is pretty busy, and I think the shiny should have been the default. Something about Genie girls with purple hair just feels right, couldn’t tell you why.
Unrelated, I’m real excited for Risky Revolution. It’s crazy that it’s actually getting made now.
Arachne
Basic spider girl, and it’s not really trying to be anything else. It’s pretty good for what it is, though I wish they’d committed to giving her extra eyes instead of those weird red patches.
Gurnius
For a mid tier monster her design is very busy. You see a design like this and immediately think it’s gonna be a rare strong monster, that’s not just me right?
Daisy
The one exception to the weak plant girl designs in this game, and it’s on a low tier monster. Cactus cowgirl is way too good an idea to waste on a low tier in my opinion.
Siren
I think she’s a forest nymph? It’s a fun design, if a bit basic. Butterfly-winged forest fairy ladies are kinda a dime a dozen so I don’t have strong opinions.
Why is her name Siren though?
Rabby
“Boxing Champion”.
It’s a good rabbit girl design, though I’m obligated to point out: That’s not a monster, it’s just anthro.
Pania
“Forest Priest” is about as helpful as “Boxing Champion”, though it at least gives us a habitat. My headcanon is she’s a Duende. It’s a passable design, cute little girl stands out in this game.
Sarcophagurl
Another Frankenstein girl has appeared in this series, and honestly? I like this one a lot. The eyeball theme is a bit incongruous.
...“Mech Maiden”? In what way?
Vespa
I think she’s supposed to be a succubus, which is kinda funny as she’s one of the least malegaze-y designs in this game. The alt skin amends this, and considering Succubi are sex demons honestly I think it’s fine. Pretty good design, all things considered.
Zenobia
Dragon Girl with a sleek design. The outfit here is an absolute disaster but if she was wearing full armor or even a t-shirt and khakis she would be completely fine, pretty good even.
The human skintone on the shiny makes me uncomfortable, probably because it accents just how awful that outfit is.
Octasia
I’m not sure what she’s supposed to be. I guess she’s like Ursula from Disney’s The Little Mermaid? So she’s a Mermaid? Mixing vertebrate and invertebrate features is always a risk in my opinion and I don’t think it works here.
Medusa
Like straight up? This game’s also got “Dracula” so I guess so. Another otherwise good design ruined (in my opinion) by a weird outfit. I do really like how this game does animals though, with those Rareware-style googly eyes. It really helps this game’s designs stand out where they show up.
Palaeophis
Another Mermaid, assuming Octasia is, in fact, a mermaid. This one’s name shoulda been Siren. Mostly naked is par for the course for Mermaids so I can’t really fault this design for that, but I will once again complain about it being busy. Weird for a design with almost no clothes.
Kukulkan
That Mesoamerican deity is eating a girl. That’s brutal.
Jokes aside I would like this design drastically more if the girl aspect was removed and it was just the winged serpent part.
Nafisa
This design scratches the same part of my brain as Aigis from Persona. Not really sure what’s up with that floating head but I can’t help but like this one. Creepy doll girls, I’m telling you.
Mischa
Pretty good design for a Beegirl, but once again, that’s not a monster, that’s just anthro. Hold on, why is the Succubus named Vespa and not the literal Vespid?
Venus
It would’ve made more sense if Sylph, the man-eating plant girl, was named Venus, as most man-eating plants are styled after Venus Flytraps. It still works for a thorn girl, but the same issue Sylph had is present here. She’s got thorns and flowers coming out of her but she is essentially just a girl.
Kurarith
Anthro Jellyfish girl. Mixing Vertebrate and Invertebrate features like Octasia. Just like with Kukulkan she’s kinda just a girl attached to a monster, and like Zenobia she’s got a stupid outfit. Really a showcase of every design decision I don’t like this game has made, but interpreted instead as a jellyfish themed outfit it’s actually not bad.
Tarani
This character has not been added to the game yet and I cannot begin to guess what kind of monster she’s even supposed to be. Maybe a Satyr? Angelic Beast? Dragon Girl? This one’s just bad, sorry. I hope they reconsider the direction they’re taking these designs in.
The Demon Lord
Arachne was just A Spider Girl, The Demon Lord is THE Spider Girl. Kinda an interesting choice to make the leader of the Monster Forces a spider. It’s an alright enough design, reminiscent of Kumoko from So I’m A Spider, So What?, specifically in how a girl pops out of the spider’s head eventually. Didn’t like it there and I’m not huge on it here either, though the girl pops out pretty early here and replaces the spider’s head.
I’m overall kinda surprised at the quality of the designs here, even when the designs are weak there’s usually at least a good idea in there. Is it worth putting up with a Gacha game for? Probably not, though I think I’m gonna stick around at least just to see what new characters they add.

So I finished Dynaman!
I got into the last few and instead of wanting to stop and post about it I just wanted to watch the next one. So it goes.
The final arc really balances well the high-concept "we're doing this fun thing this week" older tokusatsu tend to do more of, and the fast-moving plot newer shows lean more towards; and it also brings out something I'd been noticing in general, where this show kinda sneakily characterises everyone way more than you realise, until they do something drastic and you go "huh, actually yeah, that is totally something they would do"
The biggest instance of that is I wasn't really expecting, but totally believed when it came across, just how much the villains care for each other when it comes down to the wire. There's a lot of the fun backstabbing that makes a classic sentai endgame, but tempered by a lot more mutual warmth than usual.
(I mean, I'd mourn General Kar too, he maintained a really imposing presence even while almost never leaving the base until the end. Really portrayed well as the one guy with a professional attitude in the room)
There's a couple things looking back I feel maybe got cut for time--what exactly Megido was doing in gay baby jail that produced such a change, and what the hell was up with the backstory implications in that Zenobia-in-disguise episode--that could have been really cool. But it's hard to tell because this show is also perfectly content to leave things to implication to keep up the explosive (ha) momentum.
But man, absolutely part of the golden zone of shows like this for me. My personal pantheon of favourite toku are basically all sentai and metal hero shows from the mid-80s; they just have all the right ingredients. Lead actors chosen for their stunt skills doing absurd leaps through the wilderness, a delightful mix of practical and hand-drawn laser effects, outlandish fantasy armour and multicoloured space-leotards, bombastic insert songs singing the praises of the little car the robot travels around in, and sometimes girls are Heated Battlefield Rivals. What more do you need?
Speaking of which, ultimate win for me when everyone lines up for the final battle, except for Rei, who instinctively veers off to have one last swordfight with Chimera, because I guess she'll explode if she doesn't do this at every opportunity.
What could be better than this. Gals being [really fixated on whipping/stabbing each other].
Tachibana Rei really coolest girls of all time A-lister. Early on she's just kinda there but you can kinda see them realising how good Hagiwara is in realtime. And thus begins Hirohisa Soda's career of writing shows 80% about the girl rangers. Everyone say thank you, Rei.
But yeah! Dynaman was made specifically for me, but the great thing is, so were like a dozen of these things. I think I've watched most or all of the ones that really hit the sweet spot for me, but I didn't think this one was part of that zone until I watched it either, so, who knows! Check back in a year or two and maybe I'll be yelling about how Fiveman is an underappreciated gem.

alright, so i'm thinking since they bumped up our main vamp boys to their 30s (or maybe 20s for Armand?), that they would also bump up Marius' age to like, his fifties.
so here are my marius fan casts (for this one fic in particular)

look, do i need a reason besides wanting to see the guy that played hannibal lector play a vampire, and i can pretty easily see him playing Marius' intellectual, artistic side. And the man plays the perfect predator.

okay, mostly for jokey reasons, bc that's a guy who played a vampire, a guy best known for playing a monster hunter on teen wolf, that vampire dude from true blood and of course ewan mcgregor, bc who doesn't like ewan mcgregor, i have more proof

like the first one is after he and bianca get back together and she's like, lestat has dogs, i want a dog. and marius is all like, we don't need a dog, you'll just get attached to it and be sad when it dies. but she's like, hey remember that time you literally offered to leave me for pandora and she didn't even want your pathetic ass. and he's like, fine we'll get the dog, but i'm not getting attached to it. except he totally does, and a decade later he's hitting up fareed for that super science to keep their doggy alive.
2nd pic is he is waiting for an vampire court meeting to start and is catching up on the gossip with Zenobia, (bc ofc Avicus brought her), mainly just to piss mael off, bc they haven't hate fucked in awhile and mael is easy to provoke
ok that is all i have to say

What instruments would the HL students play? RAVENCLAW EDITION!!!
Everett Clopton
The kind of Percussionist that is always messing around in the back
Drives any and all group practices into utter bedlam.
Treats the percussion instruments like he treats his brooms
The Timpani is indeed a table…
As is the marimba
And the vibraphone
And the triangle… somehow…
Amit Thakkar
Mans gives big Violin energy
Would also learn something like the Aulos though just to say he could.
The kind of player to cast the imperturbable Charm on his practice area until his piece is perfected.
Only then will he play audibly.
Catch him playing on particularly temperate nights at the top of the Astronomy Tower.
His playing is quite beautiful if he doesn’t know you are listening.
Zenobia Noke
I feel like she plays recorder.
Tends to overblow.
Doesnt understand how her recorder keeps disappearing and reappearing in the rafters of Ravenclaw Tower.
“It’s not my fault that my classmates have no taste in music,”
She has asked MC on many occasions to find and retrieve her recorder.
Lately, upon hearing that Zenobia’s Recorder has been “misplaced”, MC makes themselves particularly scarce for a while before finding/returning it.
It’s a public service on MC’s part… really.
Samantha Dale
Plays clarinet
Mind you she’s great at playing.
But her brother is better
Which he constantly reminds her.
Get her some self confidence and tell her brother to can it.

Analysis, theories, spoilers and a bit of hate (maybe).
Sorry for the long text, I really can't control myself and if you start to hate me after it, well… I'm not sorry, but it's my opinion so I want to make it clear that, because it's my opinion, it's only up to me and if you agree, ok. But if you don't, just ignore it.
Let's go!
I was thinking recently about the way the series used Rashid who was an extremely small character in the book 'Blood and Gold' and then put him there as a name that Armand hides behind and then now, in the second season, we'll really get to know him. But for those who don't know, Rashid is one of Eudoxia's servants who appears in the book 'Blood and Gold' and just like Eudoxia he is extremely young ( circa 14-15 years old). Eudoxia was turned at the same age and then decided to create vampires just like her, she had them turn others because she always wanted to know what was going on in their minds. Marius ends up destroying her. Knowing this, I'm trying to conclude that perhaps the series won't use Eudoxia in the same way as the book did and therefore this part of Marius' story might not exist, or perhaps she'll arrive at a different age, in different circumstances (but I wish it didn't exist because that would automatically eliminate Zenobia and leave Avicus and Mael to live happily :D).
In short, Rashid was adapted differently, but the same. He doesn't have the same age and isn't connected to the same characters (as far as we know), but he continues to serve (this time for Armand).
Which makes me think of other possibilities.
When we think of adaptation, we automatically want the new media to be an exact copy of the original, but that doesn't always work. The story of the books "works" (or should work hahahaha) in the books and bringing it 100% faithfully to the series could be exhausting, especially when we're talking about a universe full of characters (with the vast majority of them being basically useless).
I keep coming back to this thought because I basically prefer the way the story is being told in the series to the way it is told in the books. I've read them all (except the crossover, no thanks) and now I keep creating these scenarios in my head, but let's get directly to the point.
For those of you who have read the 'Prince Lestat' trilogy, you know that the author simply decided to reboot the universe (as if this wasn't already done naturally with the inconsistencies and divergences in the books). And one of the things that made me very angry was what happened to Memnoch…
He first arrives as a demon or demonic creature who seduces Lestat and takes him on an intense and crazy journey through space and time, revealing a LOT of truth about a lot of things and for those who liked the spiritual vibe of the books, I think the book is a real treat, because it adds very much to the mythology of the universe in that respect. And we even find out a bit more about Amel. But then, when the book ends, we simply discover that Memnoch, just like any other malicious creature, has perfectly fooled Lestat (because our rockstar is very dumb). In conclusion, the book becomes a pit of useless information because you can't determine whether everything that has been revealed and contacted is really true…
Time passes and it becomes more and more something that is forgotten, until the author brings it back in the final trilogy, putting it into the mouths of the Replimoids (creatures and characters that nobody asked for) who end up saying, but without being very sure, because nobody in this universe is sure of anything, that perhaps Memnoch was Maxym, a Replimoid from the "Amel Era" in Atalantaya!
And don't worry, because the narrative about it gets so exhausting and big that you can't fix it in your mind, here's the quote:

As the author likes to do, you finish the trilogy and Memnoch has been forgotten again. This Replimoid shit to turn Amel into an innocent, lost and misunderstood child becomes so great that fuck the devil spirit.
Which, returning to the question of adaptation, makes me wonder what they could bring to the series. They bought all the books, right? That included the fucking Replimoid thing, I'm so sorry…
But then… The Replimoids have been on Earth for 12 thousand years… Much longer than any vampire soul, they are immortal, do not age and reproduce in an extremely uncontrolled way… If you have read the final books you know that a Replimoid is a great opponent for a vampire and they are so poorly used in the books, hmm… If we have Maxym who were one of them and became so spiteful and vengeful to the point of doing what he does to Lestat under the name Memnoch, because doesn't it say in the adaptation that they will come (finally and gloriously) as a true opponent against the vampires?
"Oh my god… But Amel was a Replimoid too!" - Wrong!
He's a mutated human, fuck that Replimoid thing with Amel. He has a human body, a human soul and he suffered on earth and in space (at the hands of other creatures) to have the end he did and become what he became (Oh poor thing, let's feed him - fuck him!) The author (IN MY OPINION, WHICH IS WORTH NOTHING, YOU KNOW) doesn't know how to develop villains or creatures that should serve as opponents for vampires, I don't think this is very well constructed in the universe and it makes me think that maybe I don't have patience to watch Akasha be adapted because she is a mediocre villain. Good luck to Rolin and the writers…
But back to Maxym and the Replimoid business… If they've been on Earth for more than 12 years and are immortal, nothing stops them from walking freely under any identity, after all, vampires do that too… Hmmm~ When I read Memnoch I thought: he's very smart, although he doesn't need much to fool Lestat, but it made me seem like a lot of Les's journey had been paved by Memnoch, that a lot of decisions Lestat made were under Memenoch's influence, so look how much power Memenoch has it!
We later discover that Amel also has a certain power of influence because he is what he is, that spirit at the center of the great web, the great brain that drives the vampires' existence.
And here I make a parenthesis because the introduction of this new race serves no purpose, you spend a long chapter reading Kapetria say about them and in the end no useful answer is answered:
How did Amel become such a spiteful spirit?
Because, when, how does he start to feed on blood if previously as a human he didn't need it?
Was it some spiritual influence that transformed him into this terrible being?
WHY IS SUDDENLY EVERYONE BEING GOOD WITH HIM??????? The guy killed several vampires indiscriminately, he was a huge threat and he convinces Rhosh to do what he does and he gets away with it???? Geez…
And if we have Maxym as a Replimoid walking on earth for 12,000 years being as bad as I want him to be, who's to say that he hasn't already crossed the path of another vampire, or that he's going to do so soon? And why do I say that? Because we have Filip playing this Maxim in the second season.
It's written differently, I know, but I don't think a change like that would bring disgrace to such a character, let's be honest…
-> Filip Finkelstejn as Maxim

And this has an almost 100% chance of being totally different when it comes out, I understand that, but if they put Fareed early in season 1, what's stopping them from inserting the Replimoids as well? What's to stop them from summarizing characters and saving space and time like they did with Rashid and still maintaining their purpose? And WHAT IF Maxym will be there to try and pave the way for Louis because the easiest way to get to Lestat is and always will be through Louis?
I'll let you guys think about it…

Making a Regency Soft-Crown Bonnet
April 22, 2021

[Image ID: A blue soft-crown bonnet with white ribbon and a white feather displayed in profile on a foam mannequin head. A blue and white drawstring reticule and a pair of white leather gloves are displayed next to it.]
With the underthings and classic white dress for my Regency wardrobe done, I can focus on expanding my wardrobe with accessories! Several years ago I bought maybe a yard or so of a silk-like polyester in a lovely shade of blue. I've already made an embroidered Regency reticule out of it, so I decided to make a matching bonnet!
I opted to get the Zenobia Regency bonnet pattern and kit from Timely Tresses, since this is my first foray into millinery, and chose brim 1 with the 8-piece crown. The kit comes with everything you need to make the bonnet except for thread, fashion fabric, and trim.
I started by prepping the brim as the instructions say - cutting the brim out of buckram, attaching the millinery wire to the brim, and then covering the edge with crinoline tape. Attaching the wire was a bit of a struggle! The edges of the buckram kept catching on my sleeves and the wire was jumping all over the place. Thankfully that was the hardest part of the whole process.
I decided to interline both sides of the brim with the netting that came with the kit by using a running stitch to attach the net to one side at a time.
Binder clips came in handy on this project! Buckram is stiff and hard to pin into, so I used the clips to "pin" the crinoline tape in place, then the netting, and later the brim fashion fabric, which I'll get to in a moment.
The brim then gets traced onto the brim fabric and cut out with a half-inch seam allowance, which I sort of eyeballed. The outer edge of the brim gets sewn together, then you turn it inside out (and you should probably press it, but I didn't) and put the brim inside. I used the binder clips again to hold the fabric in place securely so I could baste the inner edge of the brim closed tightly.
With the brim prep done, I cut out the crown pieces from my fashion fabric and the linen lining from the kit. I chose the 8-piece crown, so I pinned two pieces together, sewed those four "pairs" together, then sewed two pairs together which left me with halves that could be sewn together. A complicated explanation of a simple process.
Those seams then get pressed open and you can sew in the center circle. That took a bit of fiddling, but I got it done and pressed the seam. Then the seam allowance at the outer edge of the crown (on both the outer and lining fabric) is supposed to be pressed in but I didn't do that. After that you can insert the lining. The instructions say to use a slip stitch but I decided on a whip stitch instead and found that the curved millinery needle included in the kit helped with stitching into the brim fabric without having to warp the buckram and wire in the brim.
I actually added a step before I attached the lining! I had some leftovers of the white cord I used on the embroidered reticule that perfectly well along the seam of the brim and crown, so I attached that before the lining so I could hide my stitches and the ends of the cord. The cord was actually a few inches too long, so I coiled it up at one end and am using it to hold the feather in place and hide the end of the feather.
Once I went back and attached the lining I could finish the decorating. I had two yards of 1" wide white silk ribbon that I had left over from the straps of my 1920s combinations. Based on some fashion plates (like these from May 1800, September 1800, 1801, 1803, 1804, 1808, September 1808) I decided to attach the ribbon toward the back of the bonnet, tack it down at the ends of the brim, and leave the ends loose to tie either below the chin or wrapped back up to tie on top of the head.
And then I was done!
Making a bonnet was way easier than I expected and I'm in love with the results! I do wish the pattern instructions had included more tips (like when to use the curved needle or how best to attach the circle in the crown), but I was able to figure it out. There weren't really any new skills needed for this, any difficulty just came from how fiddly some steps were.
But if you give a girl a matching bonnet and reticule, she might want a bodice to go with it, so stay tuned ;)
Stay warm. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
