These ponies are childhood friends who stayed close through young adulthood, but are going through a bit of a rocky patch as they navigate the world while exploring their special talents.

Thyme Turner

Thyme Turner is one of the most patient ponies in ponyville. She spends her days delivering sweets from her friend's parent's candy shop and setting up a community garden. Thyme is the type of pony to enjoy the slow, subtle changes time brings, like watching a flower bloom in the morning and close at dusk. Conversely, she is very distressed by any sudden changes. Luckily, in ponyville, nothing ever changes, right?

Her parents are Time Turner/Doctor Hooves and Rose/Roseluck. She was also raised by Muffin/Bubbles/Ditzy Doo who is a close friend of her parents and her favorite parent growing up. She is always tired and tends to have bits of Thyme stuck in her hair.

Marshmallow Melody

Marshmallow Melody, or just Mel or Melody by her friends, cannot wait to leave her hometown of Ponyville. She saves up bits every day working at her mothers', Lyra and Bon Bon's, Candy shop. Bon Bon sees great potential in Mel's candy making abilities and wants her to inherit the shop when they retire. What Mel really dreams of is being a singer in Canterlot. As soon as she financially can, Mel plans on moving away with Nightcore Remix as her roommate. Recently, her increasingly romantic relationship with Thyme, who plans on staying in Ponyville for life, has made her question if she really wants to go through with it.

Her parents are Lyra Heartstrings and Bon Bon/Sweetie Drops. Fun fact: her design is based off of those twisted multicolor marshmallows! (all marshmallows in this story are made from agar agar, so don't worry about horse hooves)

Nightcore Remix

I already talked about him here, so I'll make this brief. After a long series of nightmares as a colt, Princess Luna came to comfort him. With her help, he learned to face his fears. After that time, Luna became an inspiration to him. Now, he dreams of leaving Ponyville to live in Canterlot to be closer to his idol and hopefully preform for her. The pony he's closest to in the group is definitely Melody, which is why he's been waiting around for her before moving away.

His parents are Octavia and DJ PON3/Vinyl Scratch. The stars in his mane are actually from a glittery hair spray.

Spoilsport

Spoilsport, often just called Sport, is, you guessed it, a pretty athletic pegasus. Due to a deformity in his left wing, he isn't able to fly in a straight line, making life in Cloudsdale difficult for the colt so he and his parents moved to Ponyville, where he met Thyme, and the rest is history. I'm not exactly sure where he would stand in the whole moving to canterlot thing since I basically jsut came up with this story for them today, but boy is he a character in this story.

*His parents are actually two background characters from Equestria Girls, Curly Winds and Wizkid (in my head they're both pegasi in normal Equestria). His signature tennis move is the tornado smash, where he creates a whirlwind with his wings after serving the ball, making it go in unpredictable directions. The referees are not too fond of this move, so he only gets to use it in casual matches.

If you show interest in tea, he’ll make it a habit to prepare a cup specifically tailored to your taste. Artistic Talent- He’s skilled at calligraphy and enjoys drawing detailed sketches of mushrooms in his journal. Occasionally, he’ll sketch people too, but only if they interest him.

ASMR YouTuber Vibes-His voice is so smooth that if he ever made an ASMR channel, it would be all creepy yet oddly relaxing stuff—like “mushroom foraging in a haunted forest” or “gentle ocean sounds… with distant screaming.”

Pinterest Core Aesthetic-His room is absurdly aesthetic. Dark academia meets “I definitely know how to get away with a crime.” His bookshelves? Immaculately arranged. His handwriting? Looks like it belongs in a spellbook.

Annoyingly Good at Tying Ties-No matter what, his tie is always perfect. If you ask him to help you, he’ll pretend to take his time, just so he can mess with you.

Loves Gossip-He acts all sophisticated, but if you tell him the latest drama, he’s listening intently. Might even casually manipulate the situation for entertainment.

Extreme Horror Game Player-The scarier, the better. He’s completely unfazed by jumpscares and will play with the lights off just to make everyone else uncomfortable.

🏀FLOYD🏀 Loves Drowning People (Playfully)-If you swim with him, be prepared—he WILL grab your leg and pull you under just to see your reaction. He thinks it’s hilarious.

Unironically Loves Kid Shows-This man will sit down and watch Bluey or Dora the Explorer without irony. If you judge him, he will not hesitate to wrestle you.

Petty Level 1000-If you slightly inconvenience him, he WILL remember. Didn’t share your snack with him? Oh no, now your pen is missing. Took his favourite seat? Now your shoelaces are mysteriously tied together.

Unpredictable Sleep Schedule-This guy either sleeps for 14 hours straight or doesn’t sleep at all. There is no in-between.

Probably Eats Whole Lemons-No reaction. Just full sends it like an apple. It freaks people out, and he loves that.

Hates Math But Is Good at It-He despises numbers but can calculate a 25% discount in under two seconds. Capitalism wins again.

Dramatic Coat Flips-Every time he turns, he does that dramatic anime coat swoosh. He does it so much that Jade and Floyd have bets on how many times per day he’ll do it.

honestly this is kinda a hard question to answer since I only really listen to genres like pop and edm (like nightcore) instead of actual artists (only exception being Olivia rodrigo)

for little space it's mostly probably nightcore/remix stuff. I did have a gacha phase (if you know what that is) and it definitely influenced my hyperpop taste...

RISE—a debatable "analysis"

so, league of legends and the word alive just recently released rise (redux) as a celebration of the original rise, and it made me realise just how many versions of rise have been released over the years. and then, i thought, well. why shouldn't i go over all of them? it's not like anyone's stopping me :]

so, enjoy my thoughts on every version of rise that i could find! supposedly there was a nightcore version at some point but i couldn't find anything official so it will have to stay off the list for now. also jackeylove has some opinions to share from when each of these came out.

next year it’s gonna be me in the music video just you wait we’re gonna destroy this thing

nostalgia-wise, this isn’t my favorite worlds song. definitely not my favourite mv, but production-wise, i can’t imagine any worlds song that could top this one. although mako has worked on every worlds song since at least 2017 (i think 2016 too, but i can’t easily verify that) except for 2̷̨̫̫͓͕̀̓0̷̡̠̹̭͉́2̶̳͕̟̜̄̓̀͗́2̶̠͉͆̍, he absolutely popped off with this one in particular. the gravelly effect added to his vocals helps demonstrate the weight of the lyrics, and then when it’s taken off for telle’s RISE, it feels even clearer, like they’re breaking through all the barriers to go higher, to literally rise above it all. the bpm (177!) can be felt right at the start, a frantic pace demonstrating just how quickly you could lose everything, how fast you need to move, and the bridge has some of my favourite lyrics in all of riot’s songs. i love nearly all of the worlds songs, but the storytelling in this one is wonderful even without the mv.

on a lyrical level yeah sure rookie’s right; half of it is product placement. however. sometimes noise is good. i usually don’t like remixes, but here it works, because more going on doesn’t take away from the song; just makes it more hype. i don’t follow bobby or ikon much but his flow here is really clean and it’s just a vibe. i think recently i’ve listened to this version much more than the original just because of how much more energy it has, and while it doesn’t have the same feel, i still really like it

HOWEVER. telle did great. and yk what once bobby came on mako sounded fine.

it’s still obviously. not good. but it could have been worse. my main problem with it isn’t even the performance it’s the fact that riot turned the mics way down for opening ceremonies after 2018 which is a CRIME LET THEM SING LIVE (it was a bit better for rise 2023 but the other songs were still very loud on the backtracks. i get that some singers aren’t great at the whole projecting thing but come on you can’t tell if you can’t even hear them over the backtrack.)

i like this version a lot but out of all the official releases i think i have to put it fourth through no fault of its own but just because it feels like there’s something missing. it’s gritty and it’s definitely a vibe but there aren’t the layers of production that you don’t notice until they’re missing, especially with how flat the RISE feels. of course, this makes sense—it’s riot forge, and production is all attributed to UNSECRET, but it’s a shame that by any other standards it’d be an absolute banger but here it falls just short. fun fact though, this was the version i put on my playlist for when i was writing nmftg (and no i haven't forgotten about the behind the scenes stuff i promised. it's coming soon i swear)

there’s a reason i heap so much praise on mako. these are demo vocals and just the layers here give me chills, not to mention how much of a sucker i am for strings. i would pay so much for a full album of a full version of all of his silly little string arrangements for all the worlds (and other riot songs, let’s be real) songs he worked on. you have no idea. can’t judge it as a full song but if it were it would be very high on my list

look, i’m biased. but seeing mako’s redemption was everything (and if you haven’t seen the clip he posted, absolutely check it out) and the orchestral instrumental slowing it down instead of the more frantic opening and hard beat gave it a more serious weight that felt especially appropriate for the revival of the song and the ongoing themes of 2023 worlds, with the Glory and the previous winners looking for redemption (even though wbg were complete frauds). it’s a perfect rendition for that ceremony and honestly like. thanks for not doing a season start cinematic riot the rise redemption was a banger you can tell just how much being able to do that performance meant to them and the emotions brought me to tears watching it live

i am glad they brought back season start song for this year though :)

telle’s vocals on this track are just so full of emotion that i can’t not love it. add to that my soft spot for rock and you get just a beautiful song. i can’t say whether or not it’s my favourite, just due to how new it is, but it’s undoubtedly great, and you should listen to it :)

I (mostly) love my YouTube recommendations, and most of the time its cute (and very VERY impressive) animatics galore, and some of the music I’ve heard on them just sticks with me and lives rent free in my head. The one on this list has to be Sincerely, Me (from this animatic). Now I don’t know much about the song out of the context of this animatic, however rumour has it that it is rather twisted (again, I have actually no idea where it’s from, I never followed it up) but it’s so insanely catchy I find myself head-playing it on repeat and listen to it to scratch that very specific itch… the animation is absolutely 🌟amazing🌟 too in that video, and I keep coming back! Also I’d like to show you Think U Know by Ikson, found in this animatic by none other than cudlil :P I love her channel, and all the music she uses!

Lucky Hair Bow

Description: an extremely saturated pink hair bow that makes whoever wears it feel prettier. Only a roll higher than 20 on Investigating the Hair Bow will confirm that the Hair Bow is magic, otherwise it looks like a normal Hair Bow.

Functionality: +2 to Charisma score. Every time you have to roll 1 or more d100, you roll 2 more d100s, you can choose the result between the options (you can choose only a number of results equal to the original number of dices to roll).

Example: Astarion rolls 3d100, then rolls 2d100 thanks to his Lucky Hair Bow, the results:

S: - hand created mixes called something like 'Nostalgic Nightcore 2010-2013': hell yeah. ur gonna have a good mix of S3RL & songs from the pseudocanonical Nightcore albums. (mostly thinking dreamworld/21st century. and Nightcore II) which like. yeah. good songs. And then some unlikely choices u probably haven't listened to as much. Good! - tiktok-style titles. 'pov: u had a nightcore phase'. 'pov: u are still a nightcore girl at heart'. 'im a computer; im a girl 1 hour nightcore mix' ok i made most of those up. there IS going to be sweet but a psycho + angel with a shotgun and u can count on it. hell yeah. the comments on these ones r often cute and gay ('im not a girl who listens to nightcore anymore...now im a boy' etc).

A: - Nightcore Mixes Made in 2012. i mean, i've listened to these a million times. but u can absolutely count on these being bitcrunched to hell, which is delicious.

B: - CLuBLioNx, at least partially for the tagline "music for you and your waifu". the music here is generally newer pop or lesser-known remixes, but not NCS. im sure it cant be monetized well if at all, so i appreciate the dedication to the craft for presumably the love of it. Buuut.... the music choice isn't always great imo.

C: - My playlist of all nightcore ive ever enjoyed listening to except the ones i forgot to add, which is most of them. kinda disorganized, doesn't really fit a theme. but i have good taste! - SStarMix, who would be in D tier but heavily pulls from magic records, who make iirc ai(?)-distorted covers of songs to dodge copyright claims? i find them interesting but unpleasant to listen to. Likewise i find the underwater-distorition effect they use to get hair to move and breasts to boobily extremely funny. i suspect they might be the most fully-automated operation and their daily-on-the-hour upload schedule backs that up. in this rat race you do what you gotta to get ahead, and sometimes that's automation and anime feet pics. o7o7.

D: - Aria makes a D+ because i again appreciate the commitment to anime girls breasting boobily, though I think they're soon to be upstaged by SStar's superior technology. - Azusa, Kurumi, etc. Same songs as Aria, These places mostly only upload NCS/Monstercat so they can monetize them, which means if you've listened to one mix you've listened to them all since they only pull from like 30 songs. Sad! At the same time, they're eminently listenable with 0 objectionable songs. Different upload rates. - Tiktok Style Titles that mention Gacha Life. look, i dont have anything against gacha life kids but it was after my time & i dont use tiktok, so i dont have any emotional connection to the gacha life tiktok songs sped up

complicated feelings about youtube user Aria Nightcore. on the one hand i feel like automating a youtube channel to randomly pick 1 hr 30 mins of NCS/monstercat songs, nightcore them, and crossfade them together and then slap them together with an animegirl on top is in some way harmful to garden variety salt-of-the-earth nightcore uploaders, who can't compete with this kind of industrial automation. on the other hand. saying 'this nightcore playlist is too low effort' is. absurdly dumb. like yea its nightcore.

Good news everyone! I have finally got my clear of the 4th extreme trial to come to Endwalker as of patch 6.2!

Boy was that a bitch to achieve.

That said. Having done it in just 4 days is a significant improvement compared to the last 2 extremes I've cleared which took almost double that.

Thoughts on the fight under the cut, beware spoilers

Phase one was tricky initially. But once you get onto the hang of it it's fairly easy to resolve. Very little in the way of co-ordination is required. Its simply know your spot/stack group. Simply watch for your visual tells to know if she's doing a donut aoe or a line followed by either another donut or a wall cleave

The tank swap is easy, the raidwides are fairly well spaced out. All in all not the worst

By the end of yesterday I was already feeling like I was on autopilot through that phase. It just became muscle memory after a few pulls

Phase 2 is where things start to get hectic. Once she's gone into "hair" mode the fight transitions from more methodical mechanic progression to something a hell of a lot more frantic. There is very little downtime here and small mistakes add up quickly. I feel so bad for any black mages playing this part. Rip your leylines

The flare and stack near the end took the longest to nail for me. Those hit like freight trains. Even as a tank they will one-shot you without any mitigation. And the ground pounds before and after are just as nails. Eventually the party I cleared most with just said "fuck it, tank lb3 on the last ground pound" and it made things so much smoother (I finally got to LB ;w;)

Phase 3 is where things calm down a bit. It's mostly a repeat of phase 1 with her going back to "sword" mode. The only addition is what the community calls "playstation" which only boils down to match coloured icon with one of the waymarks and that's about it

Phase 4 was hell incarnate. It took all the worst parts of phase 2 and doubled down on it. There is no stopping here at all for the entire phase. It's the nightcore remix of phase 2. The stack/flare and following groundpound is the true gating mechanic of this fight. If you can survive those back to back then 9/10 you got this fight in the back

Phase 5 is a repeat of 3. Except only half as long. It really is the victory lap. Once you're here with a full party it's over basically. I'd seen this on many failed runs with just half the party left. But honestly it feels like victory now

That said, the first time I cleared the fight the party actually managed to skip phase 5 entirely. Which was awesome

All in all. Barbariccia extreme is a pretty good fight. Definitely a step up in difficulty but not insurmountable. I mean I clear it after all x3

Though with 3 clears under my belt and poopy rng it looks like I'll be getting the weapon with totems -w-
