Okay Danny Phantom phandom y'all have to stick with me here because yes I know I'm a filthy newcomer who has barely been around here at all BUT I ship a really good ship and I see all of y'all SLEEPING on it.
What is this wonderful ship in question? I'm SOOOO glad you asked.
Mr. Lance x Vlad Masters
WAIT WAIT WAIT DONT SCROLL JUST YET PLEASE LET ME EXPLAIN
I have multiple reasons. First one being... honestly it would fuck with Danny SOOOO much. It would be torture. It would be worse if Vlad had managed to date either Maddie or Jack sure but his *English teacher*? Yeah that's high up on the list. Imagine looking your English teacher in his eyes and *knowing* his type and his type is Vlad-fucking-Masters, your arch enemy. Danny, a young bisexual trans boy genuinely debates becoming homophobic because of this.
Imagine how FUNNY the fics and/or comics/drawings would be for that. Just Danny dead-eyed staring trying not to die a second death and wondering if he should fatally electrocute himself again.
Okay okay second reason: Honestly? Mr. Lancer fucking DESERVES a billionaire bf to shower him in gifts and money. I say he's an English teacher but I think he's canonically the only fucking teacher in that school except for the coach. Give this man a break. Let him vacation in the Bahamas and do drag performances of Shakespeare plays at night. Please I'm begging you he cares so much for his students and school and he's always treated like shit.
Third reason? I think Lancer would be good for Vlad. Lancer himself is a very down-to-Earth and reasonable man. Sure he has his moments but you can usually see the logic in his actions. Quite frankly Vlad needs someone to look at him and go "bonkers behavior actually. drink some tea with me and do yoga." <- not actually something Lancer would say but you get my point. Sure ClockWork could also do that (and frankly I say polyamory fixes everything) but like. I think the fact that Lancer is a human who is completely (sorta) normal would help Vlad even more in the long run. Also having someone else to feed his family obsession would have him calm down from trying to fuck a married woman
Fourth reason? I think the characters would mesh nicely. Like Vlad's special interest is the Packers and Lancer WAS a cheerleader in highschool. Those two could very well talk football and cheer for the packers together. Both of them also try to be very "hip with the kids" and yes it's for different reasons but imagine them practicing slang on each other and nodding like they did something good. (Their slang gets even worse after dating). Also? Vlad is canonically very smart, building his own portal and a lot of ghost weapon shit. I could also seeing him being very well read and I think Lancer would be relieved to have an intelligent and adult conversation with someone who actually gets what he is saying half the time.
Anyway so I expect fanfic and fanart to made of this ship ASAP, I will contribute with my own of course, and if anyone wants to tag me in it........ 👀 just saying
#sascha says shit#danny phantom#vlad masters#mr. lancer#i hc lancers first name as leslie#vlad masters x mr. lancer

Merry Christmas everyone!! In honor of the holidays, here is one of my more extensive headcanons about the Sonic 3 Movie. SPOILERS ahead so be warned! 🎄
—————————
At the end of the Sonic three movie, Shadow gets nerfed to hell and dies in an explosion. Except we never see his death on screen and we know the movie is based on Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog. In those games Shadow managed to eject himself from the ARK and escape alive. However he suffers from amnesia and now has a fragmented memory. He can only remember his name and Maria’s death. So you know I’m about to write some angsty hc off of this.
Shadow would wander around aimlessly, trying to find remnants of who he was and what his life was before he lost his memory. The problem is that there’s barely anything left. Even if he manages to return to the site of the lab, he had set off the mini black hole in there. Any evidence of what happened, any evidence of Maria, was destroyed in that blast.
The only person who would know about Maria and what Shadow did afterward would be sonic. Sonic was in that lab, he heard the story and saw what happened. He was also the one to spend the most time with Shadow and hear about his pain and loss before teaming up.
Except I have a few ideas regarding this. What if something did survive the explosion of the black hole? The picture of Shadow and Maria. While exploring the lab Sonic found Maria’s room and saw the fort and picture. It was a family portrait, and to him it felt too special, too important, to be left behind in an abandoned lab. It reminded him of the drawing he made of him and Longclaw in the cave. It was all he had left of a family member he lost… just like Shadow. So what if he took the photo with him? Sonic intended to give the photo back to Shadow after they made up, but never got the chance. So now he keeps it as a way to honor and remember both Shadow and Maria.
Now keeping Shadow’s most likely survival in mind, what if after Sonic and Shadow see eachother again, Sonic shows him the photo to convince Shadow to at least hear him out. It leads into Sonic getting slammed into a wall by a very paranoid personification of Hot Topic who demands answers. I think even after hearing the story, Shadow would be confused and apprehensive. So Sonic hands him the photo and tells him that he knows what it’s like to be lost, and that Shadow has a friend if he needs it.
With the amnesia, Shadow would have almost a constant source of anger and guilt and sadness for things he doesn’t even remember. It drives him crazy that he feels so much and doesn’t even know why. When Shadow gets too caught up in his own head, Sonic asks him to tell him about Maria. It’s the one thing he can reliably talk about and it’s some of the only good memories he has.
Shadow chooses to trust Sonic not just because of Maria’s photo or the kind words, but because he can feel that Sonic is a good person. Sitting on that moon with Sonic and watching the stars was the beginning of closure and resolution to all of Shadow’s pain and trauma. And then immediately after that he shared the power of the chaos emerald in harmony with Sonic. That connection remains to be something familiar. However, in a way, that feeling of comfortability and kindness is foreign. He hadn’t felt that since Maria and look how that turned out. Part of it scares Shadow and he doesn’t know how to handle not being constantly alert.
Even if Shadow does permanently join up with the team I don’t see him living with them. He doesn’t have that family dynamic with Tom and Maddie like the others, and I’m not sure he wants to yet. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles had lost their families a while before they met Tom and Maddie, they had time to grieve and find that desire to want and accept a family again. Shadow doesn’t have that, not yet. With that being said, there isn’t really anywhere else for him to go, both the lab and the ship were destroyed.
So what if he lives in Sonic’s old home? Just until they can find somewhere better for him. It’s secluded and private but not so far away that they wouldn’t be able to go see him. Shadow doesn’t have anywhere else to go so why not. Sonic decks it out for him and even finds a picture frame for Maria’s photo.

Friday Evenings
Evan Buckley x Reader (Not Gender Specified)
Plot: It’s another Friday evening at the library, but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring.
Genre: PG-13
A/N: Kinda like a comfort piece for myself. Also, I need to start writing again so I guess this is the way to go. Enjoy!
“Knock, knock!”
I look up from my laptop to find Evan holding a bag of takeout. “Uh, I know there's strictly no food in the library, but I was hoping you could make an exception.”
“Well, perks of being the library assistant. Come on over.” I invite him behind the circulation desk and draw the blinders. “Your timing is immaculate, I was just about to finish up the last bit of cataloging.”
“Cool, no rush.” Evan sets the bag down. “Can I take a look?” Curious Evan, always eager to learn more about everything around him. That was also what made him so attractive.
“Nah, I’m pretty sure it’ll just bore you.”
“Hey, how do you know what bores me?” His eyes twinkle and set himself beside me. My fingers quickly fly across the keyboard, entering the right value and category into each empty box. I scan the barcode of each book, registering it into the database before sticking the respective stickers on the book.
“Finished!” Despite the seemingly small task, it was still a task completed.
“That was amazing.”
“Says my boyfriend that fights fires for a living.” I dismiss him casually.
“Don’t do that.” Evan admonishes. “Did you know that in the past, people had to flip through thousands of cards to find the book that they wanted?” He gives me another fun fact to which I am amazed by once again. “You guys are like the keeper of books. Without you guys, there’s no knowledge and the whole world would burn to the ground.”
“And that’s why you’re my biggest hype man.” I say, giving him a kiss. “On behalf of all library staff, I would like to thank you for acknowledging our tireless efforts.” Fishing out a box of chow mein, I find my mouth salivating as I dive into the springy noodles.
Night falls as Evan and I talk about our week. From crazy rescues to patrons of different personalities, there was no dull moment.
“Lisa was so sweet. I always love to see when a child is so enthusiastic about reading. You hardly ever see that these days.” You gush.
“Tell me about it. Maddy and Chim are really trying their best to build that habit in Jee.” Evan agrees.
A clacking of shoes could be heard from behind the entrance. A stray strand of noodle hangs limply from Evan’s mouth. My eyes widen at the noise as I put a finger to my lips.
“Shit! I thought Marianne left! She’s gonna kill me if she finds out.” I hissed, eyes darting around wildly for a solution. Evan’s a step ahead of me as he swiftly removes all the damning evidence and packed it into the takeaway bag before ducking down under the circulation desk.
Not a second later, Marianne enters, completely unaware of the chaos that just happened.
“Hey! I left something behind. I need it for tomorrow’s class.” She comes closer and I can feel the sweat trickling down my back. I quickly push my chair to block her way, earning a curious stare from her.
“No worries! I can get it for you. Just stay right there.”
Before she can say anything else, I grab the cursed notebook belonging to Marianne, making back to my seat in top speed.
“Er… thanks!” Marianne slightly cocks her head in confusion. “You sure you okay? You seem a little jumpy.”
“Totally! Just can’t wait to get out of here. It’s a Public Holiday tomorrow after all.” I laughed. Somehow, I knew that Evan groaned from under the table at my poor attempt.
Marianne shrugs, taking her notebook. “Well, don’t stay long!”
She leaves, shutting the door behind her.
"Ouch..." Evan barely manages to get himself back on the chair. He grins at me. "Some dinner that was huh?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't want to give Marianne an opportunity for me to become office gossip. You know how older ladies are."
"Trust me. Have you seen Eddie's Aunt?"
The two of us burst into laughter, quickly piping down just in case Marianne was still within the vicinity.
"Anything I can help with?" Evan asks as we pack away the containers. "I need to fight the food coma."
"Hm... well I do need to shelve back today's returns." You tell him. "If we split up, it should be done in no time and we're out of here."
"Sounds like a plan."
I grab a trolley for Evan and assign him to a row. The two of us worked seamlessly, the rolling of the wheels on the carpet was the only sound that filled the library.
"Y/N?"
"Hm?"
"I'm happy for you." He says sincerely. It doesn't take me long to piece together what he was referring to.
"You know, it still hurts sometimes." I tell him as I shelve a couple more books before going down the aisle. "But it hurts less."
The memories of not living up to the expectations of those who depended on me float around in my mind. The disappointment on people's faces when I told them I couldn't continue. The anger and self-hatred that I experienced because I essentially threw all that hard work and effort into the drain.
"Don't go there." Evan says sharply. "Don't beat yourself up for things that you couldn't control."
I give a weak smile. Evan had enough confidence for the two of us.
"You did what was the best in that moment. You just didn't know that it wasn't the right thing for you. That's okay. I mean look at me! I was wandering around aimlessly before I found the 118. It seems you may have found your place."
"What if it doesn't work out again?" My inner voice wins the battle to be let out into the open.
"Then you try again." Evan says it, as if it's so simple. "We're not going to put ourselves in a box for the rest of our lives. We got to try new things when we can. And that's exactly what you're doing."
The both of us reach the end of our respective aisles, cart empty. Evan comes close and hugs me. "Maddie says that hugs can really help to improve a person's mood."
Did I save an entire country in my past life for Evan to be by my side?
"You always know the right words to say."
"That's because they're the truth." Evan helps with the paper bags. "Now, as much as I really enjoyed secretly flouting the library rules, we should head for desert." His eyes twinkle. "I'm thinking of that gelato place down the street."
He knew the right words to say and the way to my stomach? Scratch that, he saved an entire continent with his selfless behavior.
"You took the words right out of my mouth."
Evan smiles widely and gets up from his chair.
“Come on. We’re not going to waste a perfectly good evening.”
Like I said, I didn’t know what I did to deserve Evan Buckley.

Do they keep a diary/a journal?
Mal - yes, actually. But no gross feelings stuff, ew. Just drawings. ...Of various levels of "disturbing". (Peak being begining of D2, of course)
Jay - nah. Better stuff to do. Also lowkey paranoid it'll be stolen.
Evie - yes, technically, multiple. She keeps one journal to jot down what was when done to any potions she's brewing (the correct scientific procedure), her fashion one, of course, for whatever designs she dreams of, and lastly, one to note down orders and payments for her shop.
Carlos - nah. He's got a collection of loose papers with important and "important" info on them. His cousins still keep finding them in Hell Hall. Jay has to move them from his parts of the room regularly. Mal found papers stuck in between her journal.
Uma - no. WAY more important shit to do, and she finds it way too sentimental. She keeps records of stuff important for the running of her crew, but doesn't consider it a journal, rather a public record.
Harry - yes. To the surprise if absolutely no one, the thing he writes most about is Uma. There are several original songs and poems for her as well. He wouldn't mind if she found it.
Gil - I wanna say yes, he tries. He's not very consistent though. The only thing he writes about is his friends and crewmates – he accidentally puts it down in the common space of the ship often, and most of the crewmates picked it up once. Cos, y'know. You see, you take. If they read it, they began blushing furiously under the excited "My friends are SO cool" Gil wrote and gave it back to him without a word.
Claudine - once she stops living with her father, yes, though it took some convincing. She doesn't write regularly, though, because she just doesn't know what to write, and is afraid of putting her thoughts on the paper. Later, she writes poems in letters so small it's illegible, since poetry masks the true self a bit.
Harriet - yes. She writes regularly, though not a lot of feelings stuff. She writes poems and vague stories draws whatever comes to her mind (mostly abstract stuff) and keeps it tightly locked up in her cabin, since that shit is DARK. Smee twins accidentally found it once and Sammy kept complaining they were afraid of her drawings for two weeks straight.
CJ - ...she tries to. It never lasts more than two days in row. But she adds new disjointed entry every time she's reminded that her older siblings do so. It's actually extremely disturbing in different way than Harriet's since she has ZERO ability to self-censor.
Freddie - two. One for music and one for dreams and card readings.
Celia - one. Dreams and Cards and Friends on the other side. Though, technically, both sisters share another one, written in cryptic code and abbreviations and moved from place to place with regularity but without a set schedule. This one is about secrets of the Isle residents, the ones they bother or dare to write down.
Dizzy - I wanna say yes, actual diary, feelings and all. To utter exasperation of all her older relatives.
Anthony - no, keeping tabs on the salon is enough, thank you.
Dulcia - look, my girl deserves a Burn Book.
Ginny - not really. If she absolutely NEEDS something noted down, she tells Anthony. Exception being medical notes at the Escape but she delegates paperwork away any time she can. Also, I feel like her handwriting is borderline illegible to anyone but her and the three people she shares mental disturbances with (Maddy, Anthony, Harriet)
Maddy - she keeps tabs on the Apothecary and like Evie, writes down the shit she's synthetising. It's only correct to do.
Ivy - Yeah she gets a burn book too. She deserves it <3. It's in one notebook with scraps from fashion magasines and and some kaligrams. (Again, that's a form of self-censure. Can't read it, so it isn't there.)
I think I ran out of Isle kids, so AKs (all regarding a diary):
Audrey - canonically she does, I have nothing else to add.
Ben - he tries to, but he doesn't manage to write regularly, what with being a CHILD KING and all. It's healthy for him tho. Took the habit from his mother.
Chad - I refuse to believe this boy has a diary. He views it as "useless" and "too feminine".
Jane - yes, actual diary full of feelings. Starting each entry with "dear diary". She locks it religiously though, since her mother can and will read it if give an oppurtunity to.
Ally - yes and frankly it should be studied and/or published (with different names for the sake of privacy, but i'd pay a lot to read a diary of Ally Liddel of Wonderland)
Lonnie - ...no. she tried to, few times, but never quite managed more than few entries in a row. She doesn't particularly like sitting still, and fancies the thought of someone actually reading what she thinks about certain stuff even less.
Jordan - ...she uses her blogs and vlogs as a diary. The more private ones. Not her Drama Channel.

Chapter 21: A Series of Disappointments
As Halloween draws closer, work continues as normal, life having stabilized. Work is fun and with Carla, they have fallen in a healthier work-life balance that allows them good quality time with Chris when they do have off work.
With Carla also comes a better school for Chris. He’s been going to public school the past year and it is not the worst, but they both know he has a harder time keeping up and making friends there has been hard for him, even if he does have a few.
So when Carla suggests Durand School they want to check it out. Him going there will mean an extra strain on their finances, but with their two incomes it should be possible.
The only available time to take a tour is during one of their shifts. Both try to trade their shift, but since Eddie is the only one who can give Chris as a reason and Buck is a horrible liar and terrible with excuses, only Eddie gets the time off.
Buck can privately admit he’s crushed about it, though he tries not to show it to Eddie. He loves learning and loves getting to help Chris with his homework and his projects. He does the back to school shopping, since both he and Chris agree Eddie has horrible folder taste. So, getting to see the potential school is something he would have loved to do.
Except he can’t get the time off, because no one knows. This isn’t something in the realm of possibilities for others when they look at him. They don’t look at him and think; a father. That can hurt more than he wants to face sometimes.
Eddie is also unhappy with Buck not being able to get the time off. He is terrified of having to go there by himself, of having the responsibility of making the decision about Chris by himself. It adds this pressure that makes his chest feel tight.
Before it had been Shannon, who picked the doctors Chris went to, which he stayed with until Buck switched Chris’s PT. When it came to picking a school for Chris, Buck had already been in the picture and his parents had tried to have a massive say. He’s never decided this stuff and suddenly being put on the spot feels like a lot.
When Carla offers to come with him after hearing Buck can’t make it, because two remember more than one, he feels like getting on his knees and thanking her.
He doesn’t.
Instead, he and Buck spend a whole evening coming up with questions to ask and things to take notice off. They write them down in lists and Eddie doesn’t go to till bed late, wanting to memorize them all, because showing up with a piece of paper seems like he isn’t adult enough – a fear he’s carried since first holding Chris in his arms at nineteen years old – and he wants to come across right. This is a private school. He’s never been to one of those before.
On the day of the meeting, he has to do breakfast by himself, because Buck is already working. It doesn’t make him feel much better to watch Chris eat cereal, though he comforts himself with the thought that getting to pour it himself is great for independence and practicing motor skills.
With Chris dropped off at school, he rips through his closet to find something presentable. The only thing he has is the suit he got for his courthouse shotgun wedding, because they needed it to be somewhat believable and they reused the suits for court when Buck adopted Chris.
Still, he feels a bit idiotic with it on and sends a photo to Buck with the caption: Is this too much?
Buck meanwhile is dying on his shift, continuously checking his phone in case Eddie texts him about the meeting. The others have been bullying about not being able to function without his best friend, which he has been taking with a lot of pouting, spluttering and blushing. Getting a random text from Eddie in his wedding suit, is not conducive to that.
Of course Hen must notice, leaning in as she asks: “What are you looking at?”
“Eddie send me a pic of the outfit he’s planning to that school viewing thing. Wants to know if it’s too much,” Buck answers.
“Why is he asking you?” Hen raises a brow. “As a parent, I have so much experience doing school viewings. Karen can be very terrifying. There was an excel sheet.”
“They’re Buck and Eddie,” Chimney rolls his eyes, as if that is an explanation.
A part of Buck wants to grouch that he is a parent too and his opinion should be the most valid, because he is the parent of the kid this is about, specifically. However, he can’t and he also isn’t too experienced with this and he wants Eddie to do well. So he shows Hen the pic and asks: “What do you think? Too much?”
Hen inspects Eddie closely, before commenting: “That is a very nice suit. It’s a private school?” Buck nods. “Then that’s good.”
Buck texts Eddie that the outfit is good, even parent approved by Hen, getting a thumbs up back from Eddie, before he goes radio silent. Likely at his appointment, thus off his phone.
At first, Eddie isn’t too sure of the school. It’s a nice school, definitely a good one, but it feels high end. As if Eddie could have never gotten here without help from someone like his parents. That brings some connotations that make him apprehensive.
But after a bit of walking around, those worries get soothed and instead he finds himself asking the questions he practiced with Buck. The principal leading them around seems impressed with his preparedness and guilt overtakes him again.
Buck should be here too. He’s always making Eddie look like a better dad than he is, never getting full credit for all he does. Eddie wishes he can make it up to him somehow.
As if she heard him, the principal says: “In your application you mentioned you were married. We’d like to talk to both parents before accepting a child. Is your wife available?”
“Uhm, Christopher’s mother hasn’t been in the picture since he was four, me and my husband have full custody of him,” Eddie answers, a little awkward. It always feels weird – not unpleasant, just weird – to mention Buck as his husband. He doesn’t explain the whole platonic marriage thing, that’ll only make it complicated. They’re married for the school for the same reasons they aren’t married at work.
“Oh, of course, one should never assume. I’m sorry. This school does focus on diversity and inclusivity, though it has been a learning curve for everyone,” she says with embarrassment.
“It’s alright,” Eddie assures her, not wanting to drag out the conversation. It makes him feel like he is taking something from actual queer people when that happens, like he shouldn’t have that conversation, like he’s not allowed. So he speeds by it as fast as he can.
She gives a nod. “Okay, in this case, I think that talking to Christopher’s other father will be more than enough. It’s to get a fuller picture of the child and their family.”
“Of course. Buck – uhm, Evan Buckley, we didn’t take each other’s last names – will be available for most of next week. We’re working a 48 hour and then have four days off. We’re both firefighters, so the schedule can be hectic. He wanted to be here, but couldn’t get off work,” he explains, wanting to excuse Buck’s absence and leave the principal with the best possible impression of him. It is the least he can do after all Buck did for him.
“Well, I hope we’ll see at least one of you for career day then, that is very exciting,” she smiles. “Is it possible to schedule something with you, or should we contact your husband ourselves?”
“We can schedule something no problem, I’ll put it on the calender and he’ll be there,” Eddie assures her.
As expected, Buck is thrilled by the news that he also gets to tour the school a bit, shown in a truly impressive mix of emojis Eddie gets send when he texts Buck the details. It’s so silly and so Buck, he can’t help but smile slightly and huff out a laugh before pocketing his phone. If he drives quick, he can change out of this stupid suit before pick up.
By the time he has Chris at home with him, the excitement Buck felt has turned to anxiety. There is only so much he can do over text, so he tells Buck to step out so he can call him.
“Buck, it’s an interview, because they want to know the family and check if the other parent isn’t an unreliable whack job, you’re going to be fine,” he tells him.
“But I’ve already proven myself to be unreliable,” Buck stresses. “I couldn’t get today off, what if I can never get off and I miss every PTA meeting and the parent teacher conferences and everyone judges us?”
“First off, that is highly unlikely. Second off, they’re not going to judge you, they understood completely that being a firefighter means having a difficult schedule to work around. And third off, I will personally ensure that you can make it to some of those things, even if I have to take your shift myself. Now take a breath.”
“Okay, okay. Okay,” Buck says, taking a deep breath.
“Good.”
Then right as Eddie thinks Buck has calmed down, he asks: “But what if I say something weird?”
“You’re not going to say something weird!” Eddie exclaims. “You literally helped me prep, they were already very impressed with the things you thought off. It’s going to be fine. You are the most likable person to walk on the planet.”
“You think so?” Buck’s voice is tinged with insecurity, but also something that Eddie can never place, but always makes him feel soft, makes him want to reach out to Buck.
Unsure of how he feels about that, he pushes it all down and into the box of things he doesn’t think about and replies: “Yeah, man. You’re like a gentle giant.”
“Thanks.” He can hear the smile.
“Think you’re okay for the rest of your shift now?”
“Probably. Uh, thank you. For calming me down.”
“Always. Just text if you start driving yourself crazy again, I think Hen would murder me if I let you irritate her with your pacing.”
“Rude.”
“Have a good shift,” Eddie grins.
“You’re a dick, give Chris a hug from me.”
Buck ends up texting Eddie two more times and they have another prep night like they had for Eddie the night before Buck has to go.
Like Eddie, Buck pulls out his wedding suit the day of the interview. It sends an odd swooping sensation through his stomach to see him in that suit again, Eddie supposes it’s some sort of nostalgia. It’s been years already. It seems so short ago, but it’s been quite long already, that must throw him off. It was supposed to be a short thing, but they just never stopped.
When Buck stays away quite a bit, Eddie gets nervous. He wants to text, maybe call, but he doesn’t want to seem overbearing or like he doesn’t trust Buck. Because he does. Trust Buck, that is. He trusts Buck more than himself some days. He just knows how worried Buck was and taking more time seems foreboding, what if they’re not as inclusive as they claimed and this is another PT situation. What if Buck can never be Chris’s dad somewhere again?
With those anxious thoughts running through his head, he jumps up when he hears the lock jingle as it’s opened.
He is there before Buck is even entirely inside, nervously asking: “How did it go? Did it go well?”
Before he even answers, Eddie can see the big grin on Buck’s face and Eddie’s shoulders release the tension as Buck says: “It went great. I stayed later, because they showed me the science labs and possible accommodations. Since Chris has been on that science kick lately, I wanted to be sure he could safely participate.”
Warmth threatens to overtake Eddie. Of course Buck stayed later, because he wanted to make sure Chris could do the thing he loves safely. Sometimes he wonders what he had done in a past life to deserve running into Buck. He’s the best friend Eddie has ever had.
“And then I kind of got sidetracked talking to the science teacher. She’s really cool,” Buck continues talking. He ended up getting caught up in a conversation about fire. It’s very Buck and a little endearing if Eddie lets himself think that.
As he talks, Buck toes off his shoes and moves to the kitchen, Eddie trailing after him. He is about ten minutes into his rant as he starts up dinner when he realizes what he’s doing and trails off with a blush. “Ah, sorry, I’m babbling.”
“I don’t mind your babbling,” Eddie tells him honestly. “Just give me some of those vegetables to chop and babble away.”
Buck gives him a look he can’t decipher, which is unusual, but it seems to be a positive emotion, so he can let it go for now. Softly Buck asks: “You really don’t mind?”
“Nah, it’s pretty interesting,” Eddie answers honestly.
The undecipherable look morphs into a beaming smile and Eddie feels that warmth again. He pushes it away and takes the cutting board and knife and half of the eggplants, as Buck starts up again.
However, the settled domestic feeling can’t last. Halloween is another disappointing pill to swallow for Buck. Bobby has tried to schedule as many of the parents off as he can, which means Buck is working and Eddie isn’t.
Eddie tries to switch their shifts, but Bobby won’t let him, stating that Buck will survive missing his frat party for this one year. He was off last Halloween, Eddie should enjoy trick or treating with Christopher.
In turn, Eddie wants to explain that he hates trick or treating and it will be hell for him, so it’ll be much better for Chris to go with Buck, if only Bobby would let them swap. Sadly, he cannot do that and Bobby isn’t convinced Buck isn’t trying to manipulate Eddie into it.
So, Buck takes many photos of him and Chris in costume, before he has to leave for work, obviously attempting to hide his disappointment and Eddie suffers through too much small talk and Chris on a sugar high.
Eddie vows that next year, Buck will get to do Halloween.
The thought takes him aback for a moment. The surprise of having the stability to plan a year into the future is not something he’s used to. And he shouldn’t get too used to it. He forcefully reminds himself that this won’t last forever.
At some point he’ll feel the need to get out there, find a girl and Buck likely feels the same. And yeah, he’ll be there for Chris and Eddie can mentally plan Halloween, but he shouldn’t let himself slip like that.
With Halloween behind them, it is a slow march towards Thanksgiving and Christmas. They’ve never really been a Thanksgiving kind of family and both of them have to work on the day anyway, so Chris is going to stay with tía Pepa, but they are going to do something for Christmas, luckily not go to Texas or have his parents come here. His mom is disappointed, but air fair is expensive.
For now the plan to have a small elaborate dinner with just the three of them and Pepa, but Buck is thinking about inviting Maddie. However, before they can invite Maddie, they have to loop her into their scheme.
“Would you be okay with me telling her?” he asks.
“It was you who didn’t want to tell her, I was always fine with it,” Eddie reminds him.
“I wanted to ease her into it,” Buck pouts. “She had just run from her abusive marriage, I didn’t want to drop ‘oh I’m married, but not like that, however, you are an aunt’ on her.” And he didn’t want it to come back to his parents, or Doug, if the running didn’t turn out to be permanent, but he doesn’t want to rehash that.
“Yeah, yeah, you said so back then,” Eddie waves him off. “But you want to tell her now? That’s cool. Want me to come with?”
Buck seriously considers it for a second, because having back up to face Maddie’s inevitable wrath when she finds out he’s been keeping this from her will be lovely. But after the whole getting drugged debacle where she learned about his crush on Eddie, he’d prefer to be able to set the record straight, before she can assume and reveal it to Eddie. “Nah, I’ll be okay on my own, but thanks.”
“Alright.”
Come Friday, Eddie watches Buck stress out, pulling out multiple outfits and changing a hundred times, before he has to settle on what he’s wearing if he doesn’t want to be late. It’s a little amusing, Eddie must admit. It’s kind of like watching Buck get ready for a date. Somehow that thought sours the moment.
Once Buck is hustled out the door, the feeling lingers, though it has turned into anxiety. How will Maddie react to the news? And what will she think of Eddie?
She has been nothing but kind to him thus far, but she doesn’t know that Eddie dragged her little brother into his teen dad, struggling to provide life. Buck has always described her as protective, he doesn’t want to imagine what she might do to him when she learns Eddie prevented Buck from having his early twenties. How he trapped him in a marriage…
God, this is all going to go horrible.
He distracts himself by ordering pizza with Chris and watching a plethora of animated movies as they cuddle up on the couch. He knows most men of his age are out drinking with friends or hooking up, but that was never really his scene and he missed out on so many nights like these that he’ll never tire of playing catch up.
At some point Chris does fall asleep, head pillowed against Eddie’s side. It makes him feel emotions he can’t verbalize and he finishes the entire movie by himself with as little movement as possible, just soaking in the warmth of his son.
When the credits roll, he carefully shifts so he can lift Chris and carry him to his room. They held movie night in their pajamas, so he doesn’t have to worry about that as he tucks him in, smoothing down his hair, before giving him one fond look and softly closing the door.
In the kitchen he checks his phone. No word from Buck. It’s already late, but not absurdly late, still the hour and the radio silence pave the way for the anxiety to return.
A telenovella doesn’t work as well as a distraction as Chris did, no matter how invested he’s been in this storyline (though he will deny that if asked). So, he marinates in his own nerves until the door unlocks and Buck comes in.
He looks… confused? Eddie doesn’t know what to do with that, doesn’t know what that says about his talk with Maddie. He is also quiet. Which is worrying. After watching him just standing there for a few seconds, he tentatively asks: “So, how did she take the news?”
“I didn’t tell her.” Buck’s voice is vacant as he says it.
“What?”
“I didn’t tell her,” Buck repeats, more present this time.
“You were there for hours?” Eddie says. Now he is confused.
“Yeah and so was Chimney.”
“Chimney?”
“Yes, Chimney!” Buck exclaims as he sits down on the couch, gesturing as he continues: “It’s like I looked away for two seconds and he has infiltrated her life everywhere! Apparently it is buff-friday which is a tradition, because they eat take out together often enough for Chimney to have picked up on her indecisiveness. And they do karaoke. Karaoke! I didn’t even know Maddie liked karaoke! It is a Chimney thing, not a Maddie thing, but now it’s a them together thing. They’re dating in every sense except officially.”
Okay, so he got stuck hanging out with both of them and couldn’t tell her, makes sense. The confusion is also explained, since Chimney’s presence had clearly been a surprise to Buck. “Did you plan something new with her without Chimney so you can tell her?”
“No!” Buck says vehemently, taking Eddie by surprise.
“No?”
“She can never know now,” Buck says wide eyed. “I know she is good at secrets, she kept so much from everyone, probably still keeps a bunch of stuff from me, but she doesn’t like keeping secrets. I can’t make her keep this from Chim and then she’ll tell him and we’re done for. Chimney can’t keep shit to himself.”
“He’s not that bad, is he?”
“I once watched Hen tell him not to tell Bobby she forgot the coffee at the grocery store only for him to come up the stairs and for Chimney to tell him immediately. He barely lasted three seconds. Three!”
“Okay, that is pretty bad,” Eddie winces. “But you can still tell Maddie. She’ll get keeping this, just like tía Pepa and Abuela do. What about Christmas?”
“I guess Christmas is going to have to suck,” Buck sighs, collapsing further into the couch. “She was still running when she got here, she was too scared to live her life. Now she’s finally putting herself out there again, I don’t want to mess with that. It’ll make it more complicated anyway.”
Guilt churns in Eddie’s gut at that. He’s made Buck’s life complicated, he pulled him into this and took the job at the 118 despite it all. And now here Buck is, not only missing out on things with Chris, but also missing out on things with Maddie. He missed her getting close to Chimney and now he’ll also miss a Christmas with her, all because of Eddie.
“Are you sure?” he checks again just to make sure. He’ll respect what Buck wants, since it’s his sister, but that same selfish part of him hopes that Buck will change his mind, even if it were only to soothe his own guilt.
“Yeah,” Buck says with a tired smile that doesn’t feel like a smile. Then he gets up from the couch with a groan, before stretching and saying: “I’m gonna turn in early. ‘Night, Eddie.”
“Goodnight,” Eddie replies, watching him go with a heavy feeling in his stomach.
He sits on the couch by himself until he hears the door to Buck’s bedroom close, then he gets up and quietly goes through his own routine. It’s less fun than it is when Buck is there, flossing way too diligently, because he once went on a dental hygiene research spree and now has some medical anxiety around it. He wonders when something so menial as brushing teeth became fun.
Probably around the same time he and Buck started living with each together instead of alongside each other and he was there when Eddie brushed his teeth. Buck makes everything more fun, more bearable.
Buck does so much for Eddie, from helping him prep for a school interview to make him feel ready and look better, to helping him organize child care when Abuela broke her hip, to caring for Chris for a year while he was on tour, to making sure Chris got the care when the PT place was shit. He does so much and what does Eddie do in turn? Nothing. He just saddles Buck with more problems and more worries.
It’s not fair on Buck. Instead of worrying over an outfit for a date, he’s worrying about looking good to maybe upset his sister. Instead of celebrating Christmas with family, he’ll have a complicated balance to make up between not upsetting Chris or Maddie. Not to mention all the trouble Eddie brings him at work.
Eddie is a horrible friend, who only takes and takes. He can’t do it on his own, he is too weak to provide and he’s making it Buck’s problem. He shouldn’t keep doing this.
They spend the next day with Chris at the aquarium and Buck seems fine enough, even throughout his shift on Sunday there is no sign of him being upset. But Eddie knows Buck is good at hiding, he’s sure it must be worse than it seems.
So when they’re off on Monday and have taken their naps after their 24 hour shift, Eddie comes up to him while he’s in the kitchen doing the dishes. Eddie picks up a towel and starts drying, hyping himself up to start the conversation.
“Are you okay?” Buck asks, because of course he does. Of course he notices Eddie is being weird and tries to do something about it. Tries to help.
The question only strengthens his resolve and even though it hurts for reasons he can’t explain, he rips off the band aid. “I think we should get divorced.”

A/N:
I am quite sad to be cutting Shannon’s return, because it would be quite interesting to explore, but it doesn’t fit with the story I wanna tell, so she is going to live! Good for her honestly xp (if you are very saddened by Shannon’s absence keep your eye on the AUAU this Friday!)

Jee-Yuns' Playtime
Jee-Yun centric cause she needs love! She's adorable😭, also I'm basing her personality off Lily from Modern Family and the stories of her going to daycare/pre-school and meeting kids whilst getting into mischief. No coherent storyline, just funny tidbits I think would happen when she ultimately goes to school.
After Jee-Yun turned four, Maddie and Chim decided she was ready for preschool(Hen convinced them too). The first few days had been great. The teachers and caretakers were super helpful and reported that she was on her best behavior. Wouldn't fuss when told no and wouldn't throw a tantrum when naptime was supposed to happen.
Everything was great. Till it wasn't. Which, okay, Maddie and Chim were dramatic, but to be fair they didn't expect her to be an imp this early. At least in front of others.
"She what?"
"She put a kid in time out." Mrs.Niamh answered smiling humorously.
"How?/Why?" The Buckley-Han parents wondered. Smiling brighter, trying not to laugh, Mrs.Niamh replied.
"He tried putting glitter on the floor and she caught him. Walked opposite of the room, yanked the glitter bottle out of his hands, and said, 'You'll get it back when you stop trying to sparkle the room! Go in the book corner!'." Makes sense. Jee-Yun hated glitter. It offended her to the core. One time Maddie tried putting some glitter in her fair for a small party with the firehouse crew and Jee ran to the garden hose and sprayed the glitter out of her hair.
Other parents would be mad, obviously, but Maddie couldn't help but be impressed that she efficiently undid her tight hair and didn't get her clothes wet. Gotta recognize the tenacity I guess.
-------------------------------------------
"Mason was crying today."
"Oh no, how come?"
"Someone put sand in his hair." The dead tone in her voice was surprisingly enjoyable for the adults. Especially with something random or just outright sad. She was like Lily from Modern Family. Except, not a little bitch. No shade to her though, she's iconic.
"Awh, poor Mason. Did you help him get it out?" The silence was the only answer Maddie received. Raising a brow, Maddie turned slightly to her kid in the living room. Who was sitting on the floor drawing random things on the coffee table. "Jee?"
"I might have, been the one to put it in his hair." Not looking up but slowly coloring the mini poodle she drew. Pursing her lips, Maddie huffed through her nose trying not to break. She needed to set an example.
"Oh. Why?"
"He was in the way." Maddie has a few weaknesses. This was one of them.
-------------------------------------------
Dropping off Jee-Yun and Nia along with the boys at Athena and Bobby's was an idea. Whether it was a good idea was still up to debate between Chim and Buck. Anyway, Christmas was three weeks away and Athena liked to decorate early so they wouldn't stress about it later. So she got Harry, Christopher, Denny, and the girls to help out.
While the Denny worked on the garlands, Chris and Harry helped the girls put the ornaments on the lower part of the tree. Athena was working on the taller bits. Nia was being organized, moving some around if it didn't look proportional in her brain. Jee-Yun on the other hand couldn't care less for symmetry.
Looking down Athena laughed at the scene beneath her. Chris was handing Jee ornaments while she placed them where she wanted. And what she wanted was 9 ornaments on the same branch. Taking a quick picture, Athena sent it to the family group chat and was bombarded with 'awes'.
-------------------------------------------
During Spring the kids were able to go outside and enjoy nature in the backyard of their daycare. Jee-Yun was playing with ladybugs she found in the grass in the corner while the other kids were running around near the jungle gym and swings.
When she felt something hit her head, she rubbed the top of it and looked around. A branch had fallen from the tree in front of her. Looking up at it, Jee-Yun wondered what it would be like to be that high up. So she set out to find out.
Gripping the crevices of the tree as best she could she climbed up without letting any of her teachers notice. Once up to the top she looked around and saw the city buildings in the distance. Yawning, she realized she was tired and leaned backward on the tree closing her eyes. A small nap couldn't hurt, right?
It could be if your dad was a firefighter and your mom was a first responder. When the teacher noticed that the girl with purple shoes wasn't in her favorite corner of the classroom, she immediately informed someone. And that someone called 911. And the person who answered was May.
Who glanced over at Maddie enjoying her lunch peacefully. Yeah no, keep quiet for now till they get someone on it. And that they did, the 118 that is. Chim getting shot was less stressful than this. He was the one who convinced Maddie to leave his little girl at the daycare to relieve the stress on them and the team.
"Chim you gotta focus or you're staying near the truck," Bobby said firmly despite his worries building.
When arriving parents were already picking up their kids. Ignoring the children awing them, they walked over to the teacher who initially reported the missing girl.
"I only noticed till the last 30 minutes, how she slipped my view I don't know. She's always very outspoken!"
This was true. Jee-Yun was a force of nature that the world wasn't ready for.
"The last time I saw her was outside in the back near the jungle gym. I got distracted with other students." Chim didn't blame her, he didn't, but his dad mode was kicking up and he didn't want to be near her right now. Instead, he veered off with Ravi following him to look around the fence to ensure none of it was clipped or open.
As the others called out, Hen looked up at the rustle in the leaves. Getting directly underneath she looked up and saw little feet dangling.
"Jee!" She yelled out multiple times gathering the attention of her team.
"No sarang, ireona!" Chim yelled in Korean waking up the girl successfully. Rubbing her eyes, she looked down and saw her family beneath her.
"Hi, Daddy!"
Breathing out a sigh of relief, the team got the ladder and got her down.
"Wanna explain why you gave your teacher a heart attack by climbing a tree?"
"I wanted to know what it would be like to be a branch. And I was sleepy."
Laughing at her explanation, the teacher thanked them, farewelled the 2/3 Buckley-Han duo, and left. Putting Jee-Yun in the fire truck was a fun car ride back to the station.
When they told the story to Maddie back home, they all laughed while watching Turning Red. Chim couldn't help but compare the girl in overalls to his passionate and blunt daughter.

Hi, I loved your headcanons with Billy! Could you do some of him with a reader who is more like Maddy from euphoria (very confident, feisty, stylish, etc.)? Thank you!
Billy Loomis x Confident!Reader Headcanons
- Credit to the gifs owner - Please be specific about characters in requests -
Masterlist Navigation
This was hard as I absolutely hate every character in Euphoria, but I tried lol
• Billy's first reaction to your confidence would be pretty positive. He likes people who stand out and are different to the basic people who constantly surround him. He wants someone who he doesn't need to conform to standards around and your confidence seems to allow him to do that.
• Getting to know you would be pretty easy. Billy isn't exactly shy around the people who get his attention, and he's encouraged by your confidence to get to know you better (and eventually feel much more comfortable around you) in the long run.
• Your confidence does sometimes threaten him, in the sense that you could easily leave him and find someone "better" whenever you want. Even if this doesn't happen, Billy would feel much more secure with someone who he could control and be dominant for in social situations.
• If your confidence is constantly drawing you attention from other people, then Billy will get jealous and may even act out depending on how often someone approaches you and wonders whether you're single. He especially hates this when people claim you could do better than Billy, when he knows that they're mainly saying that because he isn't as outgoing as you.
• He does like to show you off every now and then when he wants to prove himself to others and give himself a burst of his own confidence too. He'll keep you by his side and smirks at any onlookers the two of you may get.
• If your confidence makes you feisty then the two of you will clash terribly, and it may even become toxic on both sides. You know that Billy wouldn't come to you and apologise genuinely, and if you're both escalating a situation then you just know that one of you will end up acting out or retaliating (especially Billy) in a very serious way.
• How you dress wouldn't be too much of a problem, except if you're constantly wearing revealing clothing. He's fine with your confidence but he doesn't like the thought of you putting yourself on display for others to see - including any revealing clothing you may want to wear in public that seems to be over the top or clearly attention seeking. He almost feels betrayed that you don't want to keep yourself just for him, and his paranoia causes suspicion for situations that aren't even there, including the possibility of anyone thinking about you.

I have decided to also start posting some of my head canons here as well, because I’m already posting drawings of my Incorrect Quotes that I’ve posted to Ao3 here, so might as well throw these ones out here as well
These ones are about the kids. I love thinking about these funky little aquanauts and pirates, and their funky little childhoods
Ant
- He’s afraid of heights(this one’s kinda Canon)
- Ant is ambidextrous, but primarily uses his left hand
- He’s really into parkour and gymnastics
- He has ADHD
- Has terrible social skills when talking to ‘normal’ people
Fontaine
- Fontaine is a terrible cook, she can only bake (I think this one is Canon, based off of Ant and Wills reactions to Fontaine baking him a cake for his birthday)
- She’s bisexual, but prefers boys over girls
- She seems like a cat person, but really wants a dog
- Has a whole drawer of hair dye beyond pink
- Can sprint in heels despite almost never wearing them (sea life balance is a lifesaver)
Finn
- Secretly watches rom-coms at night
- Wants to get a tongue piercing cause he thinks it’d look cool on him
- Likes to paint his nails
- Wants to be a school counselor
- Finn is a huge fan of pirate movies despite hating being a pirate, if only to make fun of how bad they are. The only exception was Pirates of the Caribbean, in which he laughed about Captain Jack Sparrow, and cried over Will, Elizabeth, and the soundtrack
Maddie
- The only thing she takes care of is her hair
- Maddie thinks Ant is the same age as her
- Wants a dress, but won’t admit it
- Has a secret collection of rings and necklaces she stole from her dad
- Gets excited every time she sees the Aronnax, knowing it’s going to be a fun day
Fontaine and Ant
- Fontaine and Ant have a sibling language: a weird combination of their first two languages, which were their parents first languages. They haven’t spoken it in years, but can still speak it at the drop of a hat
- Fontaine has an easier time than Ant convincing people she’s mixed. Ant has to carry a photo of their family everywhere to convince people
- Ant loves pineapple on pizza; Fontaine hates it
Finn and Maddie
- Finn and Maddie have secret plans to put Hammerhead in a pirate nursing home as soon as they can
- Finn and Maddie both have something of their moms to remember her
- They both think Hammerhead needs to upgrade the Dark Orca to be more clean
#ant nekton#antaeus nekton#fontaine nekton#smiling finn#mad madeline#the deep cartoon#the deep 2015#headcanon#i have so many WIPs to finish#ninety percent of them related to The Deep#but in the meantime I’m just posting incorrect quotes and headcannons#why can’t I ever finish something substantial?

Rating a few of my (fictional) childhood crushes:
Dark Heart - Care Bears 2:
3/10 - He seemed a lot cooler when I was a kid, I was deeply upset when I googled a picture of him for this list, I mean, an evil trickster immortal being (from what I remember) should actually look cool, he’s just… ginger 😭 (nothing against people with ginger hair but you can understand the disappointment).
Kovu - Lion King 2:
0/10 I’m sorry, but… this is a LION 😭. What on earth was I on and why was I a card-carrying member of this emo lion’s fan club? 😭
Dick Turpin - Horrible Histories (I know he was a real person but this is just a portrayal of him):
9.5/10 - Horrible Histories tried to make kid me believe that Dick Turpin wasn’t a romantic rebel, then put this man in guy-liner and called it a day… safe to say that this message didn’t quite sink in…
Discord - My Little Pony:
0/10 - Look, I’m sorry… I don’t even know how to justify or explain this one. Vibes? Yeah, let’s say that kid me liked his vibes, because I have no other reasons for him to be on this list except for my childhood adoration of him 😭.
Liv Rooney - Liv and Maddie:
8/10 - Looking back this was definitely just a crush on Dove Cameron and I’m not mad about it.
Brett - KC Undercover:
7/10 - Brett’s meant to be a bad guy but I was drawn in by his charm and honestly? I loved him and was sad when he turned out to not be entirely heroic.
KC Cooper - KC Undercover:
9/10 - Just like with Dove Cameron, this was absolutely just a crush on Zendaya but this show is where I first learnt to admire strong, confident women - she was a real role model for me as well as a childhood crush.
Donald Peterson - Nativity 2:
♾️/10 - I didn’t know how, I didn’t know why, but little child me felt an inexplicable draw to this man and I just found him utterly captivating every Christmas when we watched Nativity 2, but not as much as…
Roderick Peterson - Nativity 2:
♾️/10 - I choose to blame the turtleneck or the charisma, but do I really need to explain?
Ed Petrie - Various CBBC Shows (not really fictional but he was on loads of shows I watched so like… he sort of counts?):
5/10 - Okay, this is a little embarrassing, because I actually met this man in 2017 as part of some event, and I literally couldn’t speak 😭. I have no clue what it was about this man that drew me in but like… he was super nice, and he always seemed so friendly and upbeat on tv, I guess I just formed a connection to him since he was on every second show that I watched as a child.

Miscellaneous doodles
Now most times people tell you, open the images to get better quality.
I'm telling you now nothing will make these look better, I already tried.
So here's a warning, none of them make sense and none actually look good (camera quality wise). View at your own risk and don't stare at them too long, I don't recommend, you will see every tiny mistake
Anyway HERE WE GO!

DP episode, Tales of Ba Sing Se style
For the first half of season 1 of DP, no one besides a small hand full of people know/believe that ghosts exists. Then suddenly the whole town is thrust into danger via a ghost invasion and everyone has to deal with it.
I purpose an episode that is just an anthology of short stories about side characters and how things have changed for them after the existence of ghosts is proven to the world.
The A listers Everyone tries to act like they’re unaffected. They each accuse each other of being scared little babies and deny it. This comes to a head when they decide to have a truth or dare night to try and prove they’re brave/out each other as cowards. They happen to run right into a ghost attack and are all like deer in the headlights until Phantom comes to save them and fight the ghost off. After that all they can talk about is how cool their new local superhero is.
Mr Lancer He has spent the last few years of his career coasting by, “This student’s failing? He’s probably just lazy.” “That student’s getting bullied? Ugh, It’s just going to turn into a complicated mess of he said/she said. Investigating is such a chore.” Except now that ghosts are real and his students could potentially get hurt it comes crashing down on him that he is the adult in the room and it really is his responsibility to take care of them. He never thought about that too hard before but now he feels the weight. He expresses all this to a coworker one day when suddenly the school is attacked. He rushes out into the hall and sees a few students cornered by a ghost. With only a moment’s hesitation, he runs out to hit the ghost with a chair. It goes through the creature and turns its sights on Lancer. Thankfully Phantom shows up in the nick of time to drag the ghost away. Lancer goes to his students and puts serious care into finding out what they need.
The Fenton family This is a funny one, Jack and Maddie can’t help but get big headed at their new attention, once upon a time they were scoffed at for believing in ghosts and now everyone wants to come to them for their expertise. They hold a press conference for the whole town to explain to the people how to be safe in these dangerous times. Jack can’t help but gloat on stage over what a genius he is. All the while, in clear view in the sky right behind him, Phantom is fighting off a ghost. Jack doesn’t notice in the slightest during his speech as he details what he knows about ghosts while the two specters behind him demonstrate the exact opposite of everything he’s saying during their battle.
Valerie Before the entire town knew that ghosts were real, and after she decided to take up ghost hunting, Star found out that Val was reading up on Ghost hunting. She made fun of Val for it. Cut to after the reveal of ghosts’ existence Star comes up to Val asking her if she knows anything about staying safe from ghosts. Val mocks her meek asking for help, “I thought I was a Loser for believing in ghosts?” Star doesn’t appreciate being made fun of and replies that Val probably doesn’t know anything anyway. Just as she as about to walk away, a ghost pops up right in front of her face. She screams as Val quick draws an ecto gun out of her locker and blasts the ghost away. Star turns back to Valerie and begs her to be her friend again. Val smirks as she closes her locker replying “I’ll think about it.”

Flufftober Day 20
AO3 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/50489362/chapters/128831713
Summary: Tom and Maddie take Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles out to pick up some pumpkins to carve.
Pairing: None
Warnings: None
Word Count: ~500 words
@flufftober
"Alright you three. Go ahead and pick out a pumpkin you like." Tom gestured to the pumpkin patch he and Maddie had brought Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to. "Just try not to cause any trouble."
"Us cause trouble? Never." Sonic pat him on the leg. "Don't worry Donut Lord. We'll be on our best behavior." Sonic turned to Tails and Knuckles. "Alright let's go pick out the best pumpkins."
"How do we know which is best? They all look similar to me." Knuckles cast a glance over the patch.
"Don't worry I'll show you two how to spot a good pumpkin." Sonic waved for his brother's to follow him and after a moment they did.
"How likely is it that they'll get into some sort of trouble?" Tom turned to Maddie.
His wife pat him on the back and rubbed his shoulder. "I'd give it about 15 minutes."
As it turned out Maddie's prediction was spot on. Their boys came running back to them, pumpkins held aloft over their heads and guilty smiles on their faces. Well except Knuckles, he looked rather proud. "Hey so we're good now!" Sonic spoke fast. "Absolutely nothing went wrong or anything. All good."
"What did you do?" Maddie rose a brow.
Tails folded his ears down. "We… might have gotten a bit competitive and smashed some of the other pumpkins."
"We were victorious over the others who wished to get the best pumpkins." Knuckles puffed out his chest before realizing the general mood of the group. He slumped slightly and frowned. "I see this is not a thing to celebrate."
"I'll go talk to the owner." Tom sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Hopefully we can work something out." As he walked away he heard Maddie calmly, yet firmly reprimand their boys.
"Alright you three be careful with these." Maddie handed out the pumpkin carving knives to the three of them.
"Careful is my middle name." Sonic grinned as he took the offered knife. He grabbed a sharpie and started to draw his design onto his pumpkin.
"What are we meant to do with this?" Knuckles regarded the knife with a curious expression.
"You use it to carve a face or something into the pumpkin." Tom shrugged as Maddie pulled out her phone.
"Like this honey." She slid the phone over. It showed several pictures of typical jack-o-lanterns.
"I see." Knuckles nodded, a serious look on his face.
"It helps to draw what you want on it first." Sonic smiled and held out the sharpie he'd been using.
Knuckles nodded and took the offered pen. "Thank you. I will bring honor with my carving of the pumpkin."
"What are you doing with yours Sonic?" Tails peeked over at what the hedgehog was doing.
Sonic playfully pushed him back into his seat. "Uh uh. You can see it when my masterpiece is done. Not a moment before." Tails giggled but didn't try to steal a glance again.
The three quietly worked on their pumpkins under the watchful eyes of Tom Maddie. Once the three were done they excitedly showed each other. Tom leaned his head on Maddie's shoulder and smiled. No words needed to be exchanged to get across that the two were happy and glad to have their boys in their lives.

I never knew just how much I needed perspective flips from the rewrite series until I just read them lol. These characters are so…perfectly messy and human the way you write them and I absolutely love it. Just like Maddie alone. The way I wanted to just go uggg in the her pov for the Eddie asking about Daniel moment. But then wanted to high five and cheer for her in the other one where she told Bobby not to dare try and mess up buddies relationships after the bombing. Brilliant.
Anywho, while I can’t stand her in it, Can I ask for a perspective flip for Shannon in chapter 2 of collision please? 🥹
Gosh! This was a complicated one lmao. Let it be known that, for the canon of the series, I will probably never be going into Shannon’s POV again 😅 (not that I'm frustrated or anything about it. She was just TOUGH to write).
As for your words up top: omg pls you're so sweet 😭 I try so hard to write characters that are flawed but so deserving of love - I hope as the story goes on you gain some sympathy for a Maddie that's learning and trying to be better now.
collision chapter two
Eddie’s house was… quaint. It wasn’t what Shannon would have chosen for their family, if he had ever bothered to ask her, but it was what he had chosen. She supposed she shouldn’t have been surprised, Eddie had always been fond of the smaller things in life. He didn’t enjoy extravagant, he had fought her tooth and nail over getting a new car when they were still together, citing medical bills and a future fund that he’d rather be putting his pension into. He had to have been making enough in his career as a public servant (and with his retirement from the Army), so Shannon didn’t really understand why he was still living in his small, two bedroom, one story house. But it wasn’t her concern how Eddie spent his money anymore.
At least, not when it came to this.
“Good morning, sweetheart.” Harvey kissed her cheek like he always did, like she was a work of art, and gently tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. She preened - Eddie had never touched her like that, he had never spoiled her the way Harvey did, with pride and reverence. Harvey was better, everyone in her life told her that (Shannon had known that when they had first slept together - Harvey was perfect, safe… dispassionate.).
Shannon hated Eddie’s little house.
It was too clean, too lived in, too decorated. He had a calendar on the refrigerator that didn’t have his handwriting on it, stuffed behind Christopher’s messy color pencil drawings and report card boasting all A’s. He had a list of emergency phone numbers taped on the counter next to a landline and Shannon’s name wasn’t even on it - the list went: Buck, Carla, Bisabuela, Tia Pepa, Maddie, Captain Nash, Athena Grant, Karen Wilson, Tia Adriana. The list was obviously for Christopher, just like the shower chair and the rails in the bathroom she had spotted earlier. It was a good thing he already had those in place, Shannon had noted with a derisive snort, considering his boyfriend needed them just as much lately (if the way he was slowly moving the night before said anything).
Shannon glanced over her shoulder and towards the locked door at the end of it - Christopher was still in the bathroom, he had paused briefly outside of the door that clearly belonged to his father’s bedroom but Shannon had waved him along. I’ll make breakfast, she had said with a smile.
Christopher always liked waffles. She was sure Eddie had the ingredients to toss those together, although she didn’t see a waffle maker anywhere. Maybe she should interrupt the two of them, like she had thought of doing the night before just for the laugh of it all (imagine, Shannon scoffed. Helena would have had Eddie’s head, and Shannon’s, if she had ever caught them doing what Shannon had caught him doing the night before.). She could imagine it, really. She didn’t know what they were doing behind that door, really, except she knew, from her own wealth of experience, just how good at bedroom activities Eddie was. They’d probably be lost in each other, like Shannon had noticed they so often were. Her knocking on the door, sharp and loud, would have them springing apart. If she laughed loud enough, she could picture the perfect bright red Eddie’s cheeks would turn - it used to mean that they would be having a very entertaining romp in the sheets themselves, but Shannon had long ago grown to enjoy the lead up to the main event just as much. Eddie was easy to rile up, fun to do too, and ever since he had served her those divorce papers? Shannon thought he deserved a bit of embarrassment every now and then. “Can I have cereal?” Christopher interrupted her thoughts with a blink of innocence.
Shannon flinched. “I’m going to make waffles.”
Christopher frowned. “Okay,” he shrugged. “Can I have cereal still?”
“Your mother,” Harvey intervened when Shannon merely bristled in her spot. “Is going to make waffles.”
“I don’t want waffles.” Christopher argued petulantly. He had always done that - it had driven Shannon insane when he was little. Clearly, Eddie had picked up where his parents had left off when it came to catering to Christopher’s every want and need. “Dad says I can have cereal so long as I have fruit too.”
“Well, dad’s not up.” Shannon said in a forced light tone. Dad said, dad said, dad said. It was all she had heard the day before until they had gotten back home and then Christopher had sat himself next to Buck on the floor all night until it was time for bed. Shannon had offered him the side of the couch closest to her, Christopher had always been a cuddler and Shannon had, genuinely, missed having his small body pressed tightly against hers. Christopher had declined, though, but she hadn’t missed the way he had cuddled up next to Buck’s side instead. Perhaps she should have offered him her seat, the man had just gotten out of his full leg cast not too long ago, but there had been a bit of vindictive joy in watching him wince as he straightened out his leg to rest on the rug. “What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.” She winked over her shoulder at Christopher’s little, tired face, and turned back to the cabinets with a frown.
“Dad -.” It was like Christopher had summoned him.
The door opened and shut on the other end of the hallway and Shannon… she had always been attuned to Eddie. She knew the cadence of his footsteps, the way he breathed, the way he would first look for Christopher and then look for her. Only it took longer than Shannon remembered it ever taking for Eddie to look in her direction - the door clicked shut behind him and his hair was a mess (and he had a small bruise, sucked into the skin of his collarbone that Shannon couldn’t help staring at when his shirt slipped down enough for her to see it. It wasn’t jealousy so much as rage. Eddie had belonged to her for the longest time, she had been the only person he had ever slept with, his first and only for so long. Any mark he had on his skin used to be because she put it there. And now she was competing. With a man who made Eddie laugh and, and… she was mostly ambivalent towards Eddie’s boyfriend, except that she wasn’t. She couldn’t help but think of how different things would have been if he hadn’t been around, if she hadn’t waited so long. Eddie’s face would have flashed with that anger again at something she said and it would have ended the way it always did, Shannon’s nails leaving a trail down his back and her mouth sucking a bruise into his skin). “Morning, Eddie.” Harvey greeted kindly.
Shannon shook herself. She was happy, she was going to marry the most wonderful man, she had her son back (on Eddie’s terms, though. Shannon didn’t have Christopher so much as have time with him). “Morning.” Eddie waved, though, cordial and polite as always. Shannon could remember the way he used to touch her, soft hands on her hips as he walked by. He used to wrap himself around her, duck his nose into her shoulder and hold on while he woke up.
He bypassed her completely and instead lingered over Christopher, pressing a kiss to the crown of his head and breathing in against his curls.
What happened to the man she had married, she wondered. Where had she lost him? “Buenos días, bud.” Shannon gripped his cabinet handle tighter.
She had always been jealous of the relationship Eddie had with Christopher. It was always so easy, so second nature with the two of them. Shannon had to work every second of every day to be a mother, to remember what it was she was supposed to be doing to keep Christopher happy and healthy and Eddie… Eddie just knew how to do it. And it didn’t make any sense to her, really! Eddie hadn’t had parents the way Shannon had - Ramon had been gone most of his childhood and Helena had thrust him into the role of man of the house much too early. He had always been good at it, though. Surprisingly tender even when Shannon had wanted him at his hardest. It only got worse one Christopher was born - Eddie was careful not to yell, he had cried the first time he had held him, Shannon had caught him singing Christopher to sleep, once, when he was on leave. He loved being a father and Christopher, obviously, adored having him as one.
Christopher tipped his head back to rest it on Eddie’s chest, staring up at him like he always had - like Eddie was the hero in every story he ever made up. He beamed and leaned up, pressing his own kiss to the corner of Eddie’s scratchy, unshaven jaw (Shannon had always hated it when he looked like this. Unshaven, just rolled out of bed, face unwashed and hair still a mess. She preferred Eddie put together.). “Buenos días, dad!”
That was another thing. Shannon hated the whole… Spanish thing. It was like they were trying to shove her out. When they were in Texas, Eddie and sisters would go on a whole rant in Spanish back and forth and Shannon would be left just trying to pick up on context clues. Helena had tried to translate what she could, and Sophia had always explained it after the matter. You could try to learn, Adriana had said with her nose in the air like always. Eddie had apologized, though, when Shannon had pointed out feeling left out of family conversations.
Clearly, though, he was still insisting on teaching Christopher the language. She wondered if it bothered Eddie’s new partner too, or if Buck was perfect with that too. Shannon rolled her eyes at the thought, the man probably spoke Spanish himself. It was like Eddie had created him in a lab - young, tall, handsome, strong, stupid and yet, somehow, smart. She had noticed Eddie staring at certain kinds of men over the years, Buck certainly fit Eddie’s preference better than Shannon ever could. Eddie hugged Christopher from behind, smiled at him in a way that made a portion of her anger with him disappear, and rested his chin on Christopher’s bony shoulder. “¿Cómo era antes de que empezara a llover?”
She scowled again.
Of course.
Eddie clearly wanted to ask Christopher something that she wouldn’t understand in order to keep their secrets. It was like he was plotting against her - Christopher fought her at every corner, he didn’t seem all that interested in doing anything but argue with Harvey, and if she had to hear one more time about just how great Eddie’s boyfriend was she was going to wring her own neck. “It was okay. We didn’t get smores, though.” Christopher explained.
Eddie frowned and clocked Christopher’s disappointment immediately. “We can make some with bisabuela?”
“In the backyard?”
“Or we can make them in the oven here.” Christopher smiled excitedly and hummed, his little body shaking with excitement.
Shannon closed the cabinet a little too hard and opened the next one - full of plates and ceramic bowls that were all mismatched and clearly second hand (but a good brand of second hand, she noted. The kind that could be microwaved and put in the oven if needed without even chipping the paint. Eddie’s family didn’t use those.). “Shannon,” Eddie called to her with that edge to her voice that told her that he was starting to get frustrated with her. She frowned at it - frustrated at her? She hadn’t even done anything yet but try and feed their child. “I’ll make breakfast.”
Shannon almost laughed. “You can’t cook.” She smirked over her shoulder at him.
The last time Eddie had tried to cook he had managed to undercook chicken after leaving it in the oven for half an hour. Eddie rolled his eyes at her and something like a sharp satisfaction spiked in her belly. He was annoyed, good. “Dad makes eggs!” Christopher defended with a strong frown. “And… and crepes with bisabuela.”
Bisabuela. Isabel Diaz had always been Eddie’s biggest enabler. She called him pet names and kissed his cheeks and pulled him into tight, long hugs. Isabel had told Shannon, very seriously, that Eddie was special. That he had a special heart that deserved to be taken care of. That he was soft, and that softness was his strength. Shannon had always been… uneasy around the woman. It was like she could see right through her and was just waiting for Shannon to make a mistake. “You can always have cereal.” Eddie said dryly, standing up and nudging her out of the way and towards the table.
Her skin burned where his arm had touched hers. It had been… a long time since Eddie had touched her and things between them had always felt like a raging fire. It was an addictive feeling, even if Harvey’s hand on her wrist felt calm and cooling. “I thought you would have bought more.” Because his cabinets had been nearly empty, his refrigerator had been full of health food and pineapple juice, his freezer with meats and meatless substitutions.
“It’s not like we expected company.” Eddie countered and grabbed the eggs out of the refrigerator, scowling at the milk like they had personally insulted him.
Shannon could feel it, the fire growing between them, threatening to come to a head. She wondered how it would blow up, now that the bedroom wasn’t an option for them. “Harvey doesn’t like eggs.” She stuck her chin in the air and said.
“Then he can have cereal.” Dismissive.
Shannon bristled in frustration. Eddie had gotten so boring over the years. He had stopped arguing with her a week before she had left, but when she had shown back up he had shown her that he still had that passion inside of him.
She wanted to taste it again. All of him was hers, he had vowed that a long time ago. It didn’t matter what a piece of paper said, anymore. He had belonged to her since they were twelve. He could have his fun, but he’d be back. He would always come back. “He -.” Harvey’s hand covered over Shannon’s shoulder.
“It’s okay, Shannon.” He said with a bright, cordial smile. “I don’t mind cereal.”
Shannon’s building excitement faded when Eddie turned back around, his face carefully expressionless. “Cereal’s on the fridge.” He said with a nod and turned towards the oven.
Something in her stirred. Anger, annoyance, arousal.
Eddie was always so much more fun when he decided to play petty.
Shannon carefully sat down beside Harvey with a small smirk. Oh, if he wanted to play, they could play.

SaL anon here friend, thinking about how not only (as pointed out) that this season of OG is mediocre but LS has also been pretty Meh and remarkably for similar reasons. So because I have too much time on my hands today and too little willpower to be productive, here I give you my vaguely thought out character parallels between the two shows this season, and how they've made the season frustrating.
Eddie and Nancy: Both of these characters have had no plot or arc all season. Basically they're moral support and comedic relief.
Maddie and TK: Both have had a sort of half plot to themselves but ultimately are there to be supportive, be sad when their loved ones are in danger, and generally remind us Madney and Tarlos exist.
Bobby and Mateo: Both had exactly one plotline to themselves, both those plots came out of nowhere, and both were centered around another character that was mentioned maybe once before.
Athena and Paul: Both had a single plot centered on their past that was actually interesting and believably important for the character (though in LS at least it didn't require its own episode away from the group). The problem was that there was little to no follow up or any sense of closure, we're just kinds left to assume some sort of conversation happened.
Chim and Tommy: Both have been fairly visible this season (definitely Tommy more so than Chim except for the last few OG episodes) and had some pretty good best friend moments. But both had had incredibly frustrating plots that just didn't make sense or serve a purpose (Chim forgiving his parents and Tommy - a Mom - trying to one up an actual child).
Hen+Karen and Judd+Grace: Both were strong points for the their shows season (I'm firmly of the belief Tomorrow was the best episode of either show this season). Only a relatively minor complaint for both, namely the WTF did this come from of the Denny plot and that Grace's recent storyline has the 5th crime investigation on what's supposed to be a weewoo show.
The 911 Guest Cast and Owen: Basically these always seem to drag the show out of the firehouse and into some bullshit no one asked for. The exception is Ravi, who is the equivalent of Owen when the focus is on him being a captain to his team.
Buck and Carlos: Frankly both their plotlines have been a mess (though Buck has twice as many as Carlos), didn't go anywhere, and are full of missed opportunities for character development, especially in the realm of having an honest conversation with their parents.
If you've been keeping score I have left out of the list Marjan. This is because between the shows I feel like Marjan's character has been handled the best, even almost perfectly. We got backstory, character building, and even a cute dating plot.
Anyway hope you enjoy my afternoon musings!! This is also in part me trying to pretend this season is over (for OG at least) and I can draw these parallels instead of facing the fact we have 2 more episodes to slog through.
Bestie, were is the lie????
This is so spot on though and I laughed so hard when I read this! I've been...not necessarily avoiding but certainly not reading any LS spec because I'm just to tired to do that and OG but whooo boy am I side eying some of the stuff I've seen floating around. LS pulling the old RNM line of Tarlos having to "earn" their wedding like 🙄🙄🙄 Plus there was something about "tragedy" striking and WHY would they need more new drama when they had a whole unexpected WIFE that got sort of brushed off and the resolution for that happened off screen, and Carlos DIED and then it was just like, never mentioned again, and TK is going into his wedding without his mom. There's already so much there, why on earth would they need to invent something else?!
And don't get me started on OG doing the same thing but also packing the guest cast with a thousand people to wrap up Buck's 700 arcs he's got started that they just did nothing with until the last couple episodes apparently. I am...so tired.
Agreed though that the Marjan stuff has been good this season when she had stuff going on! I honestly don't know WHO was in charge of OG seasons 1-3 and the arc planning and pacing because Timmy is over on LS and it's having the same messy issues as OG in that regard when OG had like, the PERFECT formula those first few seasons. What was going on over there?! And more importantly, how do we get it BACK?!

🎲 + I'm not giving you a number. just click the button like you're hitting skip on an ipod shuffle until you see a character that you REALLY wanna make content for. And maybe make a moodboard or a ficlet for them?
WELL YOU SEE MY FRIEND, our amiable spinning wheel of fate declared I should make something for little Cedar Booth, the AU daughter of our most beloved blorbo; however, since she's fairly new compared to the other kids, I didn't really want to pick, so you get a moodboard AND a tiny experimental thing as well. Enjoy...?
Send me 🎲 + a number and I will put ALL my OCs into a randomizer and choose the first OC after the number of randomizations to make something for.
The Rulebook of Being Cedar Booth, Age Almost Six, Storybrooke, Maine
Cedar is her father's favorite child.
Wrong already. Scratch that and start from the top. Paint over it, the way she is so good at doing when she makes a mistake midway through a drawing.
Ahem.
Cedar is her father's only child. That doesn't mean he loves her any less, but saying she's the favorite would be misleading, a lie. There is no one else he could choose.
Cedar's father never planned to have her in the first place. That doesn't mean he loves her any less, either.
Cedar has a father, a grandfather, and several aunts and uncles, because Daddy and Grandpa have lots of friends that care for her even though they're not really family. She doesn't have a mother, but that's okay. She doesn't need one. She's fine the way she is.
Cedar's best friends are Maddie, Raven and Cerise. Raven does have a mum, and Cerise has two, which should balance things out, except Maddie doesn't have one either, just like Cedar. Cedar feels guilty for being a bit happy about this, because Maddie's mum is dead, but sometimes she can't help thinking it all the same. She doesn't like being the odd one out, ever.
Cedar is the odd one out now. That's okay, too. Most of the townspeople are odd, or magic. Cerise and her sister Ramona are werewolves, as is their mama. Daddy was like her once, when he was small. It doesn't matter that she's turning into wood.
Lie.
6. It does matter that she's turning into wood, but Grandpa says that the right people won't care at all, and that means him and Daddy and Jiminy, and her friends and Auntie Emma, so Cedar guesses she's doing well enough. They will figure it out together. Daddy promised they would figure it out together, and Daddy doesn't lie anymore, especially not to her.
7. Cedar's not hurting anywhere.
Lie.
7a. Fine, Cedar's hurting a bit. In the legs. They're stiff and sore when she goes to bed sometimes, even if Daddy sweeps her off her feet and carries her off to her room when it happens, makes a game out of it for her. Cedar loves her father very much for that, and she's being a good girl for his sake, she really is.
8. No, she did not throw mud at Apple Nolan when Apple said something about Cedar's legs. That was Sparrow, Raven's brother. Sparrow likes throwing things and making noise, and he doesn't boss Cedar around ever, only picks on her like he does to his sister.
9. What Apple said doesn't make her a bad person. She's Snow White's daughter, and more importantly, Auntie Emma's sister. She can't be a bad person. She just doesn't notice she's hurting other people sometimes, Maddie said.
10. It's Cedar's own fault that this is happening to her.
Lie.
10a. It's Daddy's fault that this is happening to her, because of what he used to be.
LIE.
10b. It's Grandpa's fault that this is happening to her, for making his son like that in the first place.
lielielielielielie
?. She's lost count. She can't say whose fault it actually is. It wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be safe. She doesn't want her family to be unsafe because of what she says, even if it's the truth. She shouldn't tell the truth if it hurts someone else, like Apple's words did. She should lie.
Could she lie?
She can still lie, right?
Lie.
