What’s your favorite bible stories of god being really shit to people for no good reason? Obviously Job is THE “wait, is god the asshole” story, but personally I’ll never get over god just, y’know, TURNING LOT’S WIFE INTO A PILLAR OF SALT. Taking away what the story is supposed to be telling us symbolically, god did NOT have any good reason to do that. She did what, GLANCE BACK? Jehovah I promise you bro it is not that serious 😭

For anyone who may be curious:
Some years ago I wrote a Jade and Neeta* fanfiction that turned into a novella. I changed the names, Jade to Amber, and Neeta to Nichole, just to cover my ass in case Watchtower came knocking with a cease and desist, and published it.
Nothing really happened to it for a while. I had it up for free on a few eBook sites and forgot about it.
Earlier this year I learned Amazon had been selling and promoting it, without giving me a dime in royalties since I had it as a free eBook. Every single sale of that book went right to Amazon.
I believe it's now off Amazon for good, as I've requested it removed from all eBook platforms to prevent this from happening again. The book is now available, in full and for free, on my website. Anyone can read it regardless of their status as a JW, I know many younger ones without independent bank accounts were concerned with PIMI** parents questioning the purchase of Jehovah's Forbidden Love Story, so I hope anyone who had concerns about that when finding the book on Amazon can now read it here.
Love ya guys ❤️ and happy holidays
*characters from a Jehovah's Witness series on recruiting cult members
**PIMI, meaning Physically In, Mentally In (currently practicing and believes in the religion.) Variations are PIMO, Physically In, Mentally Out (practicing the religion for the sake of maintaining familial relationships or other reasons, but doesn't believe in the religion anymore.) POMI Physically Out, Mentally In ( not practicing either by choice or by force through disfellowshipping, but still believes in the religion.) And POMO, Physically Out, Mentally Out (no longer practicing, has successfully left the cult behind.)

So I have never addressed this publicly, but I grew up as one of Jehovah’s witnesses, I left when I was 19 years old 5 years ago, I have been struggling trying to recondition my brain ever since. I am filming a YouTube video to explain every detail of the cult and every bad thing they do and I need some help, I know I am forgetting details because I can’t remember ages7-12 of my life because of the emotional trauma I experienced and it is my brain’s defense mechanism, I am wanting people to send me as many details they can remember that I can add into the video if I haven’t already mentioned it in my notes.
I am also going to be doing a segment at the end talking about personal stories from people I know that are also jws, if anyone wants to tell me their personal experiences I will add those in at the end, you have the option for me to mention your name or stay anonymous, I am doing both.

Any reason you may have for ditching a religious belief you once held is valid and should be respected by everyone
Sometimes people demand you justify being an atheist with a 200 page well-sourced thesis on biblical scholarship but one of the reasons I am not a Christian anymore is so fucking simple. It made my life worse. It made me unhealthy mentally. I’ve grown one thousand times more as a person without it. If it were really the one true wisdom from an all knowing infinite god, it would make my life better. And that’s enough proof for me. And it’s a valid reason.

So I downloaded JW Library as I’ve always wanted to read through the Bible but audiobooks are the most accessible way for me to do so. What’s fun for me was realizing they implemented this study notes feature and I can leave comments on passages like you can on fanfics on Wattpad…
JWs are a christian fanfiction cult

See, I have in fact performed Listen Obey and Be Blessed in front of my friends, by heart, at their request- and then many more times without any prompting. I am weaponizing my trauma. If I had to sing that shit to Jehovah I’m going to make it everyone else’s problem!
