LINK: If the world was perfect(you would have never invaded my space)
summary: Damian is absolutely done with Jon's shit. Jon...didn't get the memo.
But hey, what says friendship and love more than a punch in the face?
Damian didn’t ask for this, and was currently unsure of why he’d gotten such a punishment. Did he anger some deity? It definitely wasn’t karma, surely he would have remembered doing something so horrible that would warrant being in the attention of Jon Kent.
He was everywhere . And intent on bothering him.
Damian prided himself on his clean record, the A’s that were always neatly lined up in his transcripts, nothing out of the ordinary. He hadn’t had a major offense…well, not anything that he hadn’t slipped his way out of.
That might change soon, however, because it seemed Jon Kent was just itching to get a punch in the face, and Damian would be sure he was the one who delivered it.
Two weeks into tutoring the bane of existence and being constantly probed for his attention was becoming tiresome. Jon demanded his attention and it was exhausting to outsmart this dimwitted oaf on top of his studies on the daily.
Going into the lunchroom, his friends were subjected to yet another lengthy rant about how the teen, this one including some rather colorful insults in Arabic. They took their food out to the courtyard, Damian not stopping once for a breath.
A shadow loomed over the three of them, Maya poking Damian in the shoulder to shut him up, and Colin standing slowly from his spot next to him.
“Wayne.”
Damian squeezed his eyes shut, cursing everything he could possibly think of, before opening them and looking up from where he was sitting.
“Kent.” He gritted out.
“You sound so happy to see me, Angel.” Jon cooed.
“Is there any distinct reason you’ve come to disrupt our lunch, or was it simply to make my day as horrid as you possibly can?”
“Sorry, Teach, just thought you would have wanted a hello from your favorite student.”
Damian could feel his eye twitching and his friends moving away from the scene. Maya nudged Colin to go find a referee for whatever was about to go down and stood, pulling up Damian with her.
“Kent, do you not have anything better to do with your life? Your studies, perhaps? Other idiots, such as yourself?” The shorter boy huffed, crossing his arms and glaring up at Jon.
Said boy was bent slightly at the waist, hands on his hips so he could be level with the angry green eyes.
“They’re not as nearly as fun to play with then you are, Wayne.”
His face flushed in red-hot anger, teeth gritting in obvious frustration. “You have no shame , do you? I don’t pretend to understand what about this is appealing to you, but mark my words, there’s going to be a time where that smartass mouth is going to say something to the wrong person at the worst time and make you regret it.”
A dangerous smirk appeared on Jon’s lips, a tell tale sign of something that would provoke the shorter boy to all hell. Before he could say anything, Damian chuckled lowly, leaning forward till their noses were nearly touching.
“I hope that person is me and that day is soon.“
Jon scoffed. “What’re you gonna do about it, pretty boy? Hit me?”
The resounding sound of a punch to his face echoed in the courtyard, Maya rushing to hold Damian back as Jon held his nose, cursing up a storm.
Damian grinned at him, sticking out a leg from where he was scrabbling in Maya’s hold and sweeping him off his feet.
“Damian!” Maya scolded, as if she were chastening her little brother instead of a friend who’d just punched the school delinquent.
Colin came running, Skylar, another friend, behind him. A teacher was eyeing the scene now, unmoving. The red haired boy snorted at the scene, clapping Damian on the shoulder.
They all tensed as Jon stood, lunging for Damian again, who wrenched out of Maya’s grasp and sent another hit to his face. The whistle from the teacher who was watching them sounded out, not stopping the now brawling boys, other kids during lunch circling around them.
“Break it up!” the teacher hollered, muscling their way through the crowd. Skylar and Maya yanked Damian off Jon, Colin making a path for them.
“Wayne, Kent, the office, now .” Jon wobbled, bruised and bloody, with not even his pride left standing.
The other boy, however, had a grim but smug look to his face, a few scratches, and bleeding cuts along his knuckles. He could hear Damian’s friends clambering over him, and what they said intrigued him.
”Dames, dude, that was badass!” the boy cheered.
”Thank you, Wikes.” Damian sounded pleased, but was quickly smacked on the back of the head by the girl with an iron grip around his arm.
”Colin, don’t encourage him. Damian, you’re a fucking dumbass, what the hell were you thinking?”
”You promised you were done with fights, you’ll be in so much trouble!” Another girl with short mousy hair and a braid through her hair followed behind the boy, Colin apperantly. ”I can’t hold up student council or Art Club by myself if you get grounded!”
”I’ll be fine. I’m not stupid, mind you, I did think about this beforehand.”
”For like five seconds, maybe.” the girl holding onto him muttered, stopping as they were at the office's door. Jon lingered behind, pretending to at least look like he wasn’t eavesdropping.
The girl with the braid patted Damian’s shoulder and whispered, ”Good luck!” , following after as Colin and the other girl pushed past the taller boy, giving him dirty looks on their way. Jon shot similar looks back, rolling his eyes and going through the office door.
Kon was waiting with an annoyed look that quickly turned concerned and mildly amused. There was another man there, somehow familiar in a way Jon knew he should have remembered. He had black hair and blue eyes, and a disappointed face that nearly made him feel bad for Damian.
The principal was there, sitting at his desk with a tired expression on his face. He saw both boys and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Mr. Grayson-Wayne, Mr. Kent, thank you for coming in your parents absence. Jonathan, Damian, sit.”
They did so, Damian being prodded by who Jon assumed was his older brother. The smaller boy scowled and swatted back, sitting.
“Now, I've had various witness recounts. The teacher who saw it says that Jonathan  lunged first, but was already injured. Now, the second time could have just been self defense, and was provoked, clearly. This is a first for you, Damian, and I would have expected this from Jonathan, not from you.”
“With all due respect sir,” he said suddenly. “I was provoked, and I am not kidding when I say that Ke- Jonathan asked for it.”
“How so?”
“I’ve been bothered by him for weeks now, and when I offered some very wise life advice and asked him to please let my friends and I eat in peace, he asked me, and I quote, ‘What are you going to do about it? Hit me?’ So I did.”
Kon snorted, Jon turning to give his brother a very dirty look. He covered his mouth, trying to muffle the noise and failing miserably.
The principal looked fairly amused himself, Damian’s smug look going from grim to mildly pleased.
His brother slapped him upside the head lightly, and Jon quietly applauded him for knocking the look off the shorter boy.
“Well, this is your first offense, and since Jonathan seems to have suffered the brunt of it, I suspect that a dire punishment is mostly unneeded. Two weeks of weekend detention, and your study sessions are to be upheld. Your brothers are to take the both of you home.”
The principal sighed as they left, muttering under his breath. ”Waynes and Kents, Wayne and West, Wayne and Harper. Why do they all insist on coming to my school?”
“So, a Wayne kicked your ass.” Kon grinned at him. “How’d that feel?”
It was kind of hot . Jon choked on his spit as the thought barreled forcefully into the front of his head. “What the fuck ?”
“Knew it.” Kon snickered, dodging the hit sent his way.
“I would have thought you’d had enough punches today.” Damian called out as they went past, ducking away from his older brother’s hand.
“Damian!” He scolded, sounding like Maya had a few hours ago. “Apologize.”
The boy scowled and crossed his arms, spitting out an “I apologize” as if it cost him physical pain.
“Sorry, Kon.” the older man holding onto Damian sighed. “I should have known it would have come to something like this.”
“The little shit asked for it.” Jon’s brother ruffled his hair, much to his annoyance. “I’ll see you this weekend, I think? Tell Wally I say hello.”
“Will do! See you, Kon.” Both men dragged their little brothers out of the office, going separate ways.
Damian avoided his brother’s gaze in the mirror, choosing to hide in the back and look out the window.
“I really thought we’d gotten over this, sweetheart.”
He hated that voice. It was a disappointed dad voice perfected over the years of rowdy siblings, leaving him as the youngest with the flawless model. It made him feel like he’d gone out to kick puppies for fun. And what was worse, was how soft and sad it sounded, like he was comforting him but wrecked at the same time.
“I know,” he whispered.
The drive home was silent, and with his siblings at work or in class, so was their large house. It wasn’t quite a mansion yet, but with their ever-growing family and account balance, it would be soon.
He trudged after his brother as he was led to the restroom, wincing as antiseptic was dabbed on the cuts.
“You promised all of us. You promised me that it was going to be the last time. What really happened, baby bat?”
Damian shielded his eyes from the look on his face, knowing that if he saw it he would cave.
“He was just annoying. There’s something about him, it’s aggravating. He deserved the punch in the face.”
Dick sighed, wrapping the bandages around his hand. “You’re not going back to this are you? You can’t afford this, Damian, you know that this is your last chance. I don’t think this will go on your record, and you got damn lucky for that.”
The younger swallowed the lump in his throat. This was not a crying matter, but the immense shame and worry with all the bubbling emotions caused his throat to close up. He rarely cried, most of the times he had were as a child. The last time he’d cried was the last time he was in a fight, the life he’d left behind.
He had worked too hard to be where he was now, and that was something he wouldn’t waste.
As loath as he was to admit it, he needed to start getting along with Jonathan Kent, and what was a better place to start then detention?

“Fine, woman, have your secrets”
more fallen hero:rebirth fanfic, set pre-Heartbreak. so, chargestep... fluff??
Julia’s pulling at your arm, dragging you after her through the apartment complex. She has this huge shit-eating grin on her face and despite your best efforts it’s hard not to feel it too. “I can’t believe you did that!” You hiss at her.
“I can’t believe I did that!” Julia comes to a stop in front of what you assume is her apartment door and pulls you into a hug.
You squirm in her arms, pushing her off you. “You’re the Marshal! You can’t punch out your boyfriend!”
“I think this technically makes him an ex-boyfriend now.” She sorts through her pockets, looking for keys.
“This isn’t a joke!”You press a hand to your temple, willing yourself to stay mad.
Ortega at last finds her keyring, slipping a finger through the metal loop and flipping the keys through the air with an entirely unneeded flourish before unlocking the door and pushing it open. “Ladies first,” she says, ushering you inside. You hesitate, glancing at her. Julia’s been trying to invite you over for ages now and you’ve always managed to wriggle your way out of it. Was this whole thing really her way of pressing the issue? No, no. Julia can be craftier then you give her credit for sometimes but well… it’s not like she’s you. You return Ortega’s grin with a nervous smile of your own and step inside. Julia follows behind you, pulling the door shut.
Julia’s apartment isn’t terribly extravagant, there’s a living space with a couch, coffee table, and TV, a kitchenette to your immediate left as you walk in. Behind the TV the massive glass window gives a view of the skyscrapers that make up the heart of the city. “Welcome home,” she says, “there’s the fridge over there,” she gestures with her free hand as she locks the door, “help yourself to whatever.”
“Um… sure, thanks.” You answer, feeling a little small. Everything looks so clean, and new, and the difference between the lives of Julia Ortega and Ariadne Becker have never felt quite so stark before.
If Julia notices your cowed reaction, she doesn’t let on. That’s either uncharacteristically polite of her or she legitimately doesn’t notice. You’re not sure which you’d prefer.
“What on earth possessed you to punch that poor man?” You stick to a safe question.
Julia avoids you gaze, walking past the kitchen counter to what you assume is her bedroom. “Don’t you worry about it,” she pauses, then adds “he had it coming anyway.”
“Doesn’t he have like…” you falter for a moment, “many dollars?”
She looks back at you, amused, then gestures at the Ranger uniform she’s wearing. “I’m going to put some normal clothes on, no peeking okay?” She laughs as if this is the funniest thing in the world and shuts the bedroom door.
You roll your eyes and bury your head in her fridge. “Wouldn’t dream of it, you old hag.”
Through the door you hear a muffled “I heard that!”
“Good! I’d hate to think an old woman like you already needs hearing aides!”
You pull a can of cheap bear out of the fridge, and then on second thought, grab another for Ortega, leaving them both out on the counter. Hanging on the wall across from you is a collection of framed photographs. Most of the faces you don’t recognize. Friends? Family? Is this what real– what normal people decorate their homes with? You can’t help but feel a little pang of jealousy. Odd, you don’t find any pictures of her boyfriend, or maybe, that’s not so strange? You don’t really know how this kind of thing works.
Her newest boyfriend is this blue-eyed blond-hair corporate sponsored hero, and like all corp heroes he looks like he came straight off the rack of central casting. The two of them met on the job, because of course, and corp-man had ideas about ways the Rangers could shore up their finances.
You’ve made a pointed effort not to learn or remember the man’s name.
Julia steps out of her bedroom, looking much more at home in a pair of slacks and a tank top. To your surprise her braid is undone, hair looking wild and free as it trails down her back. You toss her one of the beers, “Thanks,” she catches it and cracks it open.
You grab the other can and join her on the couch. “Are you going to tell me why you socked your boyfriend in the face?”
“Damian is a pendejo.”
You give Julia a look. “I’ve been telling you that for weeks. Hell, Steel of all people told you that.”
Julia groans and stares at the ceiling, “Yeah, but… I thought I could put up with it at least until the sponsorship deal was signed. But then tonight right after you left he…”
“He what, Ortega?” You press.
“Oh, you’ll just get mad if I tell you.”
You huff. “Well gee, Ortega, now I’m just mad without knowing why I’m–”
She waves a hand to cut you off. “It doesn’t matter what he said, I’m done with him.”
You sigh, the static hum of Julia’s mind betraying nothing of what went on in the entire minute between you leaving Ranger HQ and Julia bursting out after you, grabbing your arm, and yelling for you to run for it. “Fine, woman, have your secrets.”
“Thank you. I don’t want to think about that jerk right now,” She drains the rest of her beer, dropping the empty can on the coffee table. Julia makes a face like she just drank something foul. “I’m already going to have be kissing asses all week to make up for this.”
“How inconsiderate of him, really.”
“I know!”
With that line of inquiry out of the running, you let the awkward silence fill the air between the two of you. You shift in your seat to stand up, only to find Julia’s hand on your sleeve, trying to pull you back down.
“Hey, don’t go. Not yet.”
Something in her voice makes you stop, frozen in mid-rise. “Are you-“
“Pizza!” Julia pumps a fist in the air, “we should order a pizza and watch a movie!”
You sit back down.
It’s one in the morning when the credits for James Cameron’s Apollo 13 finally roll. Two empty pizza boxes lay open on the floor, and enough empty cans of beer (most of it Julia’s doing) that you don’t want to count them. The Coffee table has been pushed out of the way, against the wall so you can Julia can sit on the floor, backs against the couch like the pair of delinquent teenagers you must definitely are not.
Julia stretches her arms, arcing her back as she raises her fists into the air. “Wow, that was pretty good with the special effects and all.”
You look away from her, suddenly, painfully aware of how you don’t have any right to be here. “I can’t believe they got actual footage.”
From the corner of your eye you can see Julia giving you a strange look. “What do you mean?”
You can feel the heat in your face, instantly aware you’ve said something wrong but helpless to do anything but see it through. “The-the one scene on the moon?”
Julia stares at you for a moment longer than bursts out laughing. “It’s science-fiction you dummy!” She lightly jabs you in the arm as you sink down to the floor, face burning. “No one’s ever actually gone to the moon!” She cackles.
You can feel a knot in your gut, you’ve fucked up. You’ve fucked up and now they’ll all know. They’ll know your fraud and a liar and they’ll turn you back over and you’re going to lose everything and she’ll hate you forever and–
“Hey, hey, Ari? You okay?” Julia’s hand is on your shoulder, shaking you gently. The laughter is gone, replaced with a look of concern, and that almost scares you more.
You rub your eyes, “it’s fine, I’m fine,” you lie. You shrug off Ortega and push yourself back up right. You take the chance to get up and stretch your legs, gather up the garbage, pull your face back into a neutral expression.
Julia stifles a yawn and runs her hands through her hair, trying to gather it into strands, but not quite getting it. “Damn,” Julia giggles, “I’m drunk as hell.”
You put on a concerned frown, eager to let things move to a new topic. “What are you trying to do?”
Julia tries to cross two handfuls of hair, “Gotta - mierda! - gotta braid my hair before I go to bed or it’ll be a mess; tomorrow’s going to be bad enough. Bunch of whiny punk-ass–” Julia descends into a stream of slurred curses in Spanish.
You take a seat on the couch as Julia tries to loop two strands of hair around a third, one slips out of her hands and she has to start over. She hisses.
You watch her struggle. “Do you need to do this right now? This is painful to watch. And maybe a little sad.”
Julia stops fussing with her hair to turn and look at you. She looks like she’s about to say something, but doesn’t. Then a sly smirk spreads across her face and Julia silently scoots on the floor over to you. “Oh yeah? You think you can do better?” She turns her back to you, resting her head on her hands. “Put that master mind of yours to work girl.” He voice is light, slightly slurred.
You stare at the back of her head.
A moment passes.
Then another.
Finally, Julia asks, “Uh… Ari, you still there?”
“I’m working on it!” You snap. Part of you feels like you’ll be struck by lightning if you touch her, a fear that, with the hero Charge is perhaps not entirely unjustified. “I’m just… trying to figure it out–“
“What, didn’t your mom teach you?” Her tone is light, joking, but you can’t read her mind and now with her back to you, you can’t even read your face. You feel like you’ve be stranded in a minefield. You can’t tell her this is the longest your own hair has ever been, and you absolutely can’t tell her you’ve never had a mother. You never learned this at the Farm, why would you? You weren’t playing any women roles.
Julia has this aggravating habit of pushing at the edges of your Ariadne persona without even realizing it. Now Ariadne has a favorite color, hates the rain, has a preferred taco truck, even a sense of style, if barely. All these little details you never imagined being important. You like Anathema, she gets it. Neither of you need to pry about the other in order to enjoy the other’s company.
But unlike the rest of the Rangers, Julia can never take no for answer. Never leave well enough alone. Hell, your morning routine has tripled in length now that you actually care what you face looks like, now that you have a face even. So how does Ariadne handle this? Ariadne wouldn’t be scared of touching someone else’s hair right? She fights monsters on a daily basis.
You must have taken too long to respond because Julia’s right hand reaches back and catches your own. “Look, it’s dead easy, I’ll walk you through it.”
And she does, letting go of your hand as she walks you through it, step by step. She is right, it is dead easy, once you have the hang of it.
You cross the lefthand strand over the middle, then the righthand over both of them.
This is just some… perfectly normal bonding thing, that perfectly normal human women do.
Left over middle, right over middle.
And you’re not some imposter, you’re just… a friend taking care of a friend.
When you finish, Julia grabs an elastic band off the coffee table and slips it on to keep the end of her braid in place. She leads back and you have to quickly shift your legs so her head doesn’t end up between your thighs. “Hey Ari?”
“Yeah?”
“Damian really sucked.”
“You don’t say,” your tone carefully diplomatic.
“And then what he called you-” You go stock still. Oblivious, Julia clenches her hand into a fist. Little blue sparks crawl out of her palm and down her arm. “I just got so mad and,” She punches the air in front of the two of you, electricity discharges from her fist to the metal rim of the coffee table with a faint zap! sound.
Julia tilts her head back up at you, her face more than a little flush. It’s too much, you have to look away. “But you know what I think?” She winks at you.
“You’re drunk, Ortega.” You caution her. Maybe if you were a real woman you would know how to handle this? How does Julia always manage to get you into the most awkward situations? Why you do you keep letting this woman keep do this to you?
Julia reaches a hand up to your face but you bat it away. “I think you’re very pretty,” she says. Something impossible snaps inside your chest.
“You’re drunk, Ortega.” You insist, suddenly feeling very tired.

Special Notes
In my writing, I treat human type bodies as the ultimate fighting form to explain the likeness between mortals and deities.
Additionally, I list the key weakness of human types as time, and should that weakness ever be removed the ability to correspondingly innovate shall be lost.
Gate Guardians are the precursors to Gatekeepers, similarly to how God Breakers come before God Slayers. Thus, they have a higher jurisdiction than Suki. Gate Guardians have the ability to lock away the abilities of a target after witnessing it once.
Since Universe 8 and Universe 9 technically share a goddess, but said goddess only originates from Universe 8 instead of 9, Mirai challenges Universe 9 to avoid the chance they win and can't utilize the wish properly.
Universe 10 is an extremely safe place to live, where not a single cycle governing their universe was broken. This left their power consistent through the ages opposed to fluctuating like the rest. That is why they have a God Candidate and Balance Lords.
Universe 10 also has such incredible intuition and presence manipulation that their true strength went under the radar as they'd fight opposing forces throughout, which is key to how they eliminated most of the other universes without losing a single fighter.
Dienna and Mirai's fusion tapped into the deepest reserves of their potential, then used the raw growth and mystical experience of Mirai to become a rapidly growing warrior. It was necessary to cancel out Universe 2's Hexagon Locket.
The Fearsome Fodder Five was a name given by Mirai to the ungraduates of her universe, rebranding them as the strongest group of weaklings she's even seen.
Daisuke's Burning Soul ability is the side effect of sacrificing his chances into an afterlife for an absolute union between mind, body, and spirit. His literal existence too. He's able to grow faster than anyone else during battle, and recovers well because of this. His flesh proving far more complicated than any other organism. He can only use abilities relating to Burning Soul.
Vira, despite being younger than herself in the Generations Timeline was selected to join Suki's team to simply fill the slots according to Jun. Had Suki known anyone stronger, she wouldn't have brought children to fight.

LINK: but since the world’s obsessed with saying ‘psych’ (pt.2)
summary: Milkshakes, fries, trespassing and mild auto theft :D
Jon bounced on his toes, hands behind his back as he waited for the teacher to poke their head in and allow them both to leave. That was the only way Damian would let them leave would be if they were formally dismissed, and for some unknown reason, he was ready to do anything the other boy said, as long as it meant they’d be going to the diner together.
At first glance, it seemed as if Damian was fully invested in his book, but a bit closer and he was watching the bouncing teen from the corner of his eye, resisting a smile as the earlier characterization of him being a puppy ruled correct. His clothing needed work, and his mannerisms as well, and he’d make that known once he figured out just how long this would actually last.
“Mr. Kent, Mr. Wayne, you are both free to go.” The teacher finally dismissed them, and Jon hovered over Damian’s chair, watching as he arranged his things in his messenger bag.
He slung it over his shoulder, shooting the excited teen a mildly annoyed look. “And you were offended about the puppy comparison.”
“I’m holding onto that, I will turn the gremlin thing onto you eventually.” Jon smirked, looming above him. “Would you look at that, you’ve got the height part down already.”
“Shut up.” He grumbled, holding onto the strap of his bag. “Do you want me to come or not?”
The other only chuckled, holding the door for him. “But of course, Your Highness. Forgive my words.”
He sniffed, nose in the air as he played along. “I suppose you’ve been pardoned. Now, onwards to the feast.”
The face lasted a moment longer before they both dissolved into laughter, moving down the halls of the school at a swift pace.
“We’ll have to walk.” Jon noted, once they were out at the pick up area.
“The sun is up, does not seem like an issue.” Damian brushed it off. “You have directions and I wish to have lunch, so the quicker we’re off, the better.”
“Yes, of course, your very royal highness.” Jon rolled his eyes, beginning to stride away in one direction, longer legs making for quicker strides.
“Hey!” the other boy protested, jogging to keep up. The taller one laughed, speeding up more.
“Asshole.” he heard Damian mutter, smiling to himself. Yeah, so maybe he was, but really, it was all worth it to mess with him.
They ran down the streets of the city, Damian calling out obscenities as Jon cackled, always a few paces ahead. He slowed as they neared their destination, letting the shorter boy catch up and swat at him.
“See if I ever come with you again!” He huffed, holding onto the strap of his messenger bag, tugging at the collar of his green pullover.
“Aw, come on, D ,” he said, nickname coming out mockingly. “If we’re gonna be friends, you gotta keep up with your little gremlin legs.”
He groaned. “Oh my God , fuck off. How many jokes are you going to be making about this? Gets old pretty quick you know, J .”
“A bad word !” Jon gasped, now walking in tandem with him. “Whatever will your family say?”
“They’d wash my mouth out with soap.” Damian deadpanned. “Only there wouldn’t be any left by the time they’d finished with my brother.”
He snorted, before tugging on his sleeve, boldly slipping his hand into the smaller caramel one. “C’mon, we gotta cross the street.”
Damian said nothing, only flushing mildly. Jon looked anywhere but at him, cursing the fact that the paleness of his skin did nothing to hide the growing red creeping up his face.
He let go as they reached the other side, gallantly opening the door for the other boy, bowing slightly as he did so. The other boy made a clicking noise, one that he’d so often associated with negative things, now sounding mildly amused. If he’d looked up, he would have seen the slight shake of his head, lips turning up a tic.
A blond freckled girl with the same piercings as Jon came up as they entered, tying back her apron without looking up.
“Hello, welcome to-” She paused looking up at the two, a grin spreading on her face. “Jonathan Samuel, why haven't you come around and who is this beautiful boy?”
Jon looks sheepish. “Hey Kath. I been busy lately, how’re your folks?”
Damian was almost appalled, flushing from the girl’s words and marveling at how easily Jon slipped into a much more civilized manner, southern accent showing when he spoke to her.
They stopped in their conversation, Jon pulling Damian in front of him. “This is Damian, he’s…a friend.”
Kathy’s eyes sparked at him. “A friend you say, huh?” She eyed him for a minute, before turning to Damian. “What’d he do to you?”
“Kathy!” Jon barked, flushing.
“Ain’t no way he bagged a pretty thing like you, you gotta be here because he did something to ya and now he’s tryna make it up.”
He raised an eyebrow at Jon. “You do this a lot?”
“Taking that as a yes.” Kathy nodded. “You look prep, he knock your books over?”
A devilish smirk came over his face and Jon was hit with the reminder of gremlin-like. “Well, that’s one way to put it, but really, the whole story is a lon-MPFFH!”
His mouth was covered and instinctively he licked the palm, biting at the hand as it was wrenched away from his mouth in disgust. Jon wiped his palm on his jeans while Damian wiped his mouth, both disgusted. Kathy ( The traitor, Jon thought bitterly,) was doubled over laughing, arm propped on the podium holding menus for stability.
“Y’all make such a funny pair, never thought I'd see the day someone corralled Jon.” She giggled as Jon shot her a dirty glare.
“Oh, like you weren’t just as bad! You got a piercing every time I did and you dyed your hair black, and I bet fifty bucks you still wear your eyeliner like I do!”
“Mm, yeah the black hair was not my proudest moment but also, it was like 8th gradebordering freshman year, and i’m attempting to reform.” She put her hand to her heart dramatically. “Of course, I tend to relapse when you drag me into shit.”
“Like you’re complaining.” Jon laughed. “Now, table for two, please.”
They eventually made it to a table, ordering two milkshakes (an almond milk one for Damian) and a side of fries.
The whole thing was oddly date-esqe and it made the both of them desperate for small talk. Damian, ever equipped with manners and experience in polite conversation, started up the questions.
“So, when you said you were raised in a barn, what did you mean?”
Jon seemed to light up, recounting his old life in Kansas, talking about the farm he’d grown up on, his and Kathy’s old adventures, and stopped once he mentioned moving to the city.
“Kath moved here a bit ago, we’d kept in touch but don’t see each other too much anymore. She’s still my best friend and stuff but the city’s weird.”
Their food arrived and they shared the snack, chattering on about things. By the end of it, Jon had learned Damian had six siblings and several brothers-in-laws that hung around their father’s large house, as well as many pets. He liked art and led the art club with his friend Skylar, and had met Maya and Colin in elementary school.
Damian learned that Jon had been raised a well-mannered southern boy, as much as he tried to deny it and undo the teachings now. He saw flecks of homesickness when he talked of the country, sadness when he spoke of his parents who had once been there and were now constantly busy, leaving him with his older brother, even though said brother had his own life.
It was insane to the both of them just how much they’d learned about each other after one civil interaction, how much they were being drawn to one another. It was all getting much too sappy and feelings-like for the both of them, so they split the bill and walked out into the night, afternoon sun shining a bit lower in the sky, not quite yet sunset.
“C’mon, we’ve got some time before it gets dark. Let’s just chill for a bit.” Jon gestured towards the signs pointing to the parks around the city.
They wandered around a bit, going towards the edge of the city where the forests were. “Hey, wanna wander around here a bit?” Damian said, breezing past him through the broken gate.
Jon eyed the sign, hanging off one side of the wire. “I’m pretty sure that says no trespassing, D.”
“The gate’s broken, it isn't as though we’re committing some great offense.” He knocked the gate with a shoulder and the sign fell off. “Oops, there’s no longer a sign to read.”
Jon looked scandalized, what was this, some sort of personality switch? “You’re insane.”
“C’mon, the sun's not down yet.” He went through the brush, raising an eyebrow as Jon refused to follow, bouncing on his toes nervously.
“Scared, farm boy?” He taunted, Jon scowling and taking a step forward.
  Knew that would work.
“Not a chance, darlin’.”  The other boy followed after, pet name slipping from his tongue easily. “I am blaming you though, if we end up being caught doing something as stupid as this.”
Damian scoffed, walking through the thicket. “With your demeanor, I'd assumed you knew the most important thing about doing something mildly illegal.”
“And what is that, exactly?”
He swallowed as the other boy turned, mouth going dry as a mischievous smirk was shot his way. The words that followed, however, were completely unexpected.
“Don’t get caught.”
They made it around, exploring the tangles of greenery and knocking branches into each other’s faces when they heard the beginning of a party. The sun was hanging dangerously low in the sky, still not yet sunset.
“Damian, we’re gonna get in trouble,” Jon hissed. “We should go.”
“Shhh.” the other boy waved at him, creeping closer. It’s been awhile since he’d done something like this, but he felt the once familiar excitement creep up on him, an amazing feeling that he was determined to chase. He was nearly there, when a branch behind him snapped .
The chatter from the place stopped, and Damian squeezed his eyes shut, cursing everything. Slowly he turned to the culprit, mouthing at him to ’Move back, you idiot, you’re going to get us caught.’
Someone from the other side of the brush called out, “Hello?”
”Shit.” Damian backed away, and suddenly footsteps began coming towards them.
“This is private property, you’re trespassing!” The voices were mixing together and the steps getting closer and suddenly he turned, snatching Jon’s hand and bolting, uncaring of how loud it was.
”HEY!” the voices behind them screamed. Jon seemed paler than usual as they burst through the brush out into a clearing with a dirt road leading out.
“There must be a vehicle around here somewhere, they did not walk down here…” He murmured, glancing around the area. He turned, letting go of the other boy’s hand and smacking him lightly on the cheek, frozen blue eyes coming to attention and locking on his green ones.
“Is Houston having a problem up there, Hayseed?”
Jon seemed to come back to life, mouth opening and closing with no sound coming out. Finally, he blinked a few times, blurting out “You’re actually clinically insane.”
“So you’ve said.” The shorter boy deadpanned. “Thought you would have done this kind of shit all the time with your track record.”
Jon attempted to sputter out a response as Damian looked around, finally spotting a few bikes and ATVs hidden behind a small fence.
“Well, when we were gonna get caught, we ran the other fuckin’ way, not towards it!”  He followed Damian, still talking and waving his hands in the air.
“Keep your voice down.” Damian hissed at him, climbing the wiring and swinging a leg over to the other side. “And move your skinny ass, we’re gonna book it out of here.”
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Jon retorted, doing as he said anyways. “You’re the most asshole goody-two-shoes teacher’s pet I’ve ever met and a day into getting to know you and we’re on the run and you’re climbing fucking fences and holy shit are you hot-wiring the fucking bike? ”
Damian had produced some small tools from his messenger bag, prying into the closest vehicle, which happened to be a motorcycle. “Yes, now shut up and go pick the lock on the fence.”
He tossed him a kit and waved him away, Jon smirking as he moved towards the lock. “Bold of you to assume I knew how to do that.”
He snorted. “Please, it would be an embarrassment to yourself and your reputation if you couldn’t at least do that .”
The bike started up, and he swung a leg over it, grinning at the noise of the engine. He guided it over to the entrance, where Jon had successfully opened it. “Get on.”
”What the hell?” a screech came from where they’d come out of the brush. ”Yo, someone’s jacking your Dad’s Harley!”
Jon needed no more prompting, barely getting on as Damian hit the gas, propelling forwards and zooming past the trail in record time.
He had an iron-clad grip around the other’s waist, fear dissipating as they cleared the area.
“Holy shit. ” he whispered. “Holy fucking shit.”
The sun was setting now, painting the sky beautiful colors of orange, pink, yellow, and deep blue. The rush of adrenaline was catching up with him now and the events of what had just happened came crashing down on him. Throwing his head back, he let out a loud laugh, whooping as they shot back into city limits.
“You didn't leave your mind back there, did you, Kent?” Damian called over the roar of the engine. “I’d hate to have to explain that to your brother.”
Jon was still giggling as he leaned forwards, loosening his grip on the boy in front of him. “No, just the rush. Dude, how’d you learn how to do all of that? Like, God, that was so cool , and if we ever get caught we’re in so much trouble , but it was freaking awesome!”
“I’m glad you thought so.” he responded dryly, slowing the bike down. “We can leave this here, and we’ll walk the rest of the way.”
The sky was close to dark as they walked back up to the nicer areas of the city, pausing at the Waynes’ residence.
“Thank you for inviting me today,” Damian told him as they reached the gate, the line perfectly practiced.
Jon stared at him blankly. “This isn't a gala, dude, you don’t have to thank me. You’re a pretty cool guy, not at all what i expected.”
He bumped him on the shoulder gently, the atmosphere softening. “If anything, I should be thanking you, because I haven't had this much fun for a while. I honestly didn’t think you had it in ya, but after this and you kickin’ my ass, i’m pretty sure i misjudged you completely.”
“There’s a lot of things you don’t know about me, Kent.” Damian said after a moment of silence. “But today, you’ve seen more of me than most people have.”
“Friends?”
“I suppose so.”

Omg I'm the anon who came up with the ex-delinquent Damian and yr new fic is WOW!! ^×^ I loved it sm!! loved the friendships Damian has now bc honestly he deserves it and it's canon that he has more friends than Jon 😭😭 now we gotta add Kathy for Jon/lh also the brotherisms of kon and Jon... Hes so in the principals office talking shit to Clark and Lois on the family gc(that does or doesn't include Jon,whichever is funnier)
Another fun idea but u totally don't have to include is Damian going to a rave/party with his friends, decked out in rave or punk fashion, not knowing Jon is ALSO THERE (Jon is convinced he's hallucinating until kathy or someone else throws a drink at him) - Damian and his friends are there rocking out till like 4 am,Jon for once doesn't confront Damian but takes pics/vids "for evidence" (blackmail/looking at yr crush being cool like a weirdo lol) Damian shows up to school completely functional with his partners in crime Colin and Maya who maybe threw themselves into the pit;; Jon is astounded and maybe a little infatuated.. at this point I'm gonna make a fanfic out of yr fanfic 😭😭
Again love yr fic feel free to not use any of these btw!! Can't wait to see what you do with yr fic no matter what route you go!! :po happy writing!!!
IM DEF BRINGING IN KATHY AT SOME POINTTTTTTTTT i might reuse ocs from some other fics bc jon doesn’t have a lot of people???
Dude i love that idea I would be absolute shit at writing it tho LMFAO I’ll probably give it a shot sometime regardless probably in more of like a college setting then high school BUT LIKE JONS R E A C T I O N CAN YOU IMAGINE
Damian’s absolutely pristine and energized but secretly dying inside and then Colin with horrendous bedhead and eye bags next to him bitching about a headache LMFAOOOOO let’s be real maya would just be maya she could totally handle it
Making fanfic out of fanfic and someone will make a fanfic of your fanfic and they’ll be fanfic of fanfic of fanfic
Tysm for sharing ur ideas :D
