Some of y'alls: but these are my comfort headcanons and they give me comfort why do you hate fun so much.

Someone: hey it's kinda misogynistic to make Pearl older than the rest of the group when she's actually the youngest 'cause it's projecting a patriarchal expectation on her character without nuance.

Some of y'alls: BUT BUT IT MAKES SENSE IN MY AU AND GRIAN/JIMMY IS JUST SO BABY TO ME. LIKE JIMMY IS SO BABY. GRIAN'S SO UNHINGED AND YOUNGEST CODED. AND PEARL'S MORE RESPOSIBLE THAN THE BOYS. LIKE SHE JUST FEELS OLDER THAN BDUBS AND JOEL.

Someone: Hey I seriously think people in this fanbase should re-evaluate and examine some of their headcanons and portrayals that have misogynistic undertones as things that they need to unlearn from what they grew up with.

Some of y'alls: why do you have no whimsy? :( You could just ignore these headcanons you know? Some of these are made by kids who are inexperienced.

I'm not calling for any form of harassment who do this btw.

But maybe a bit of self-reflection or awareness in the fanbase? I know this side of the fanbase has a large demographic that skews younger, but that doesn't mean that these thoughts and ideas shouldn't be corrected.

In fact, I think something like that is important so it could be unlearned earlier but what do I know.

At least I'm calling out sexism 'cause one of my previous fanbases had to constantly call out racism 💀 and yes some of those racism do come from younger fans and people who were around my age at that time.

Idk, this fanbase makes me lose my mind sometimes.

Summary:

The problem with Pearl, Grian thinks, is that he never truly knows what she's thinking.

Not to say he doesn't know her, and can't make an educated guess, it's just— Pearl has always kept her cards close to her chest. Despite how long they've known each other, neither of them have ever been keen on sharing secrets; instead, they'd mutually, silently, opted to respect what was left unsaid and live only in shared moments without asking.

They'd almost broken this unspoken rule the day Pearl joined Hermitcraft. Almost— at the last second Pearl had swallowed her fear, her anger, the unmoored grief still swimming inside her, and haltingly told him never to disappear on her like that again. Punched his shoulder. Looked like she was about to cry. Grian had given her a hug and a half-hearted smile in return, told her I'll do my best, and they'd never spoken about it again.

Grian remembers those words like a thorn in his heart. Another lie, another broken promise; he's full of them these days.

Bird Siblings: Old vs New Gods

In the universe of Bird siblings, there are two types of gods. Old gods and New gods.

New gods:

New gods are, as the name suggests, newer. They first appeared around the same time that the first civilizations popped up.

New gods are tied to their believers, fading from existence if people stop believing in them.

New gods outnumber old gods by a good amount, but they are not as powerful.

New gods are often tied to things that old gods are also tied to (ex: Hades and Hel are both gods of death but Phil is the old god of death) when this occurs, the new gods are treated like nobles in a king’s court while the old god is treated as king.

New gods are more ‘human’ than their older counterparts, as they tend to show more personality than old gods.

Old Gods

Old gods are as old as the natural world. They will continue to exist untill their natural world dies.

Old gods are more powerful than new gods

Old gods are only tied to aspects found within nature such as Storms, the sun, and plant life. They are not associated with things made up by mortal societies (wars, marriage, wine, etc.)

Old gods more perfectly embody whatever they reside over, leaving little room for other things such as personality. This often means they conflict with their new god breatheren

Watchers

Watchers are curious beings, seemingly not from this universe.

Nobody knows the true powers of the watchers, but they are indeed powerful.

Not even the old gods know much about the Watchers, instead only stating that one should stay away from them.
