not only are you the sunshine child who has to smile constantly and be everyone’s shoulder to lean on but you also feel rotten to your very core. you feel this bone deep tiredness, the weight of your responsibilities that you have created for yourself, standards you cannot possibly live up to. and it is crushing you. you can’t breathe past the weight of it.

everything is too much and the days are too long but time passes too quickly for you to enjoy anything. you love spending time with your friends even though you crave the silence. and then when you have it, the silence is suffocating.

you love food but it tastes like ash, you crave physical touch, love both giving it and receiving it, but some days it makes your skin crawl and you don’t know how to explain this to anyone so you grit your teeth and bare it.

your anger burns but it’s cold. the first emotion you feel in conflict is guilt because that is what you were taught to feel. you become bitter and you push the anger down, swallow it to try and keep it at bay. you know how to make your words hurt because you feel hurt and you don’t know what to do with all this anger, it’s just sitting in your chest, bubbling over, and it’s shameful and wrong in a way you don’t want to feel.

it’s all too much to feel but not enough to ground you in reality. you go through the motions and then everything hits you suddenly. the emotions are feeling, too much and yet not enough.

you’re simultaneously drowning in an ocean of it all but your insides are drying up from the lack of everything.
