Okay okay hold on.
Youâre telling me that Derek Hale is living in Beacon Hills owning an auto shop and consulting for the sheriff and having a rebellious teenage son who loves the jeep and in the first twenty seconds of being on screen Derek says to the sheriff âMaybe you should call your son?â Like I literally paused it.
Seriously considering keeping it paused and just writing a fanfic to finish it out because this is a beautiful premise that right now is canon. I accept the first 20 minutes of this movie. The rest we can toss.
#teen wolf spoilers#yes Iâm watching it#might take me a few days#to watch it in small increments#everything else is ridiculously laughably the dumbest#like I laughed#like they just subbed in someone for Kira???#and the âbadassâ camera shots and characters and literally laughable#and they used âwe call him the alphaâ line twice in five minutes like it was not good the first time#I feel like Iâm watching a movie script a teenager wrote with things they thought would sound cool#also why is Derek investigating fires#not cool#derek hale#stiles stilinski#teen wolf#sterek#spoilers#teen wolf movie

When I was fifteen years old, I found out about Star Trek: The Original Series. Back then, Star Trek as I knew was only The Next Generation, and I was apathetic about that. I found out through simple curioaity, but I had nothing to better to do so I looked into it. It sounded kind of interesting, so I found the show on Hulu and decided to give it a shot. I quit midway through the third episode. I saw it as old, cheesy looking, and dumb. Why waste my time on something old? Over the years, the more I got involved in online fandom culture, the more I would see it pop up. The more I would ehar about how having PoC inr egular roles was revolutionary just because it showed that they existed. How the show enrained so many science fiction tropes and ideals into modern Americn media in the vein as Dotor Who has in Britian. Heck a review show I used to watch went over the comic adptations of the films, and came off as so passionate about the franchise that I remembered my previous stance. Remembered how I threw it aside as a relic of the past, despite me even thn seeing the value as I valued classical animaiton and childrenâs media very highly.
IDK what provoked it, but in January of this year, I decided to watch the entirety of Star Trek. Maybe it was quarentine rentine making me snap. Maybe it was me giving in at last to those urges that had been prodding at me for years. Regardless, I made the choice, and it only made sense to begin with the one that started it all. I am now 28 years old. I have grown far more patient and respectful with the things that came before my time. Media holds a great deal of value and whether I understood it or not, Star Trek was vital to popular media. I was ready to give it a second chance. I expected to go in with a greater appreciation, but otherwise not have many strong feelings abou it. I got through those three episodes again with my feelings better than before, but not too different. But I was determined to keep going. So for two months, I watched episode after episode and this weekend I ended it with the original films. Now here we all at the end of the journey. How do I feel?
I felt very regretful for throwing it aside the way that I did.
I greatly enjoyed TOS. Far more than I had ever expected. It is very much a product of the 60âs. There was a limited budget and it showed, though they made the most of it. There were many ridiculous plots, rampant sexism, and hammy acting that is utterly laughable. Some days I could go along with it, other days I just wanted them to get it over with. And yet, none of it kept me away. There were ideals revolutionary for the time like PoC standing equal to others, themes of all kinds such as anti-war and humanity, great science fiction concepts that may be standard today but donât rob them of their enjoyability, and so much fun but also many moments that made you think. But most of ll, it had such lovely characters. For me to care about a show, I have to care about itâs chracters. I knew a few things via pop culture, butt hatâs not the same as understanding them as a viewer and media can frequently exaggerate the reality. And as I found out, there was far more to them than what mdia lead me to believe.
Kirk I only ever knew as a brave captain who made out with a lot of women. While thatâs true, I canât call him a reckless womanizing asshole. He was brave, optimistic, diplomatic, and charming. He could be light-herted, but also very much a devoted Starfleet Captain whose duty is his entire being. I was shocked at how much I grew to care about him. Seeing his triumphs, his failings, his strengths and flaws, even on an off day I cared about him. Even when William Shatner hammed it up too much, I enjoyed seeing him. Spock was who I knew the most about consideirng how popular he was and I wasnât sure what to expect, but I also grew to love him. His logic, his struggle with his dual being as half Vulcan and half Human, his loyalty to Kirk and his dedicaiton to his duty. I could see why he meant so much to people, esecially witht he level of depth and work that Leonard Nimoy put into the character. Thereâs s amny little things that you begint o notce and it makes Spock feel all the more real. But by far the biggest appeciaiton I grew was for McCoy. He was the character I knew the least about aside form him being a doctor and remembering the first episode. But GOD I love his character so much. His crankiness, snarkiness, and his arguments with Spock were entertaining but seieng how compassionate, devoted, and caring that he is especially when I watched The Empath ahead of time and saw his sacrifice... damn. Not to mention DeForest Kelleyâs perormance with him imo being the best peformer aside from Nimoy. He gave it hus all even during the dumbest episodes and that always earns my respect. I didnât think Iâd care about Bones that much, knowing him as that guy whoâs more important than the rest but not even close to as much as Kirk and Spock, and he walked away as my absolute favorite character who I will continue to give the love and appreciate that he deserves.
The others were great too. Scotty was funny, great at his job, and the amount fo times he saved thm all via some miracle is to be admired. Sulu was significant for being an Asian man as a regular and in a high position, and I just loved having his prescence. Uhura being a Black woman treated as an equal by her white male peers and being a dedicated, sassy communicaitons officer as well as her lovely musical talents made her a delight. Chekov when he came along added a nice, youthful prescence without him getitg annoying and having a Russian as a hero at that time was also a big deal. While the show struggled BIG TIME with gender and feminism, it was major at the time for presenting PoC and those of other nationalities as equal to others, and the cast clearly did their best to make them feel like actual people. I respect that a great deal. We all should sot hat we can keep improving from there.
I didnât expect to care. I expected to get the show over with and have something to occupy my time. And yet, I do care. I care about these characters. I care about the shenanigains that they get involed in. I worry when they get into distress even though I know that theyâll be fine. There were plenty of things I knew in advance like Spcokâs deaht in the movies... and I cried anyways. I knew that nothing long-term bad would happen in the series, yet I feared for the cast and their situaton anyways. I grew invested in them. In their relaitonships. The Kirk-Spock-McCoy dynamic was by far my favorite thing and it kept me wanting to keepw atching. Not to occupy my time, but because I genuienly wanted to see what they got into and how they got out of it. To see Kirk and Spockâs mutual respect and trust in each other. To see Spock and McCoy argue over logic and emotion and be wiling to defend the other, to see Kirk and Bones joke and be at ease with each other as the close longitme firends that the are, and just having the three together... it was such a perfect dynamic. Hell I didnât expect to ship anything aside form maybe Spirk due to knowing itâs significance to fandom, slash,a nd the LGBT+ community. And I came away shipping all three dynamics...a nd veering on all three together, but IDK if Iâm quite there yet. But whether shippy or platonic, their relaitonship together is perfect and I loved it.
Now, the journey is over. Oh I plan to go back and do it all over again. I plan to pay even more atteniton. I plan on giving each episode as good of an analysis as I can give. I plan to try and seek out things like the novels and the comics so that I can have more itme with them. I plan to watch the reboot films to see what happes in a different universe. I plan to watch TNG and hope that I enjoy those charactrs that I ignored my entire life just as much as I did these. But for now, itâs over. It is a ride that I am thankful to have taken. I came in indifferen, and am leaving a fan looking forward to whatever else awaits. Thank you Star Trek TOS for this amazing two month journey. Thank you tot he cast and crew who put so much into it despite everything working against them. Thank you to the fans who watched it and kept it alive for all of these decades. And to those who read tot his point and all of my watchthrogh posts, thank you for sitcking with me. It was, without doubt, an experience that Iâm never going to forget.
#star trek#tos#st watchthrough#god i still cant believe its over...#but at least now i ge tto do it all over again#star trek tos

I Want It, I Got It: Chapter 5
Summary: Phil Lester was a worker for the BBC in London. Working in the advertising department, he was content being alongside his friend and fellow coworker PJ during every shift. However, the BBC is temporarily being used as a film set for a new movie staring Hollywood âItâ star, Daniel Howell. Being stuck as an extra on the set, Phil finds itâs hard to ignore the famous star. And maybe, just maybe, Dan finds it hard to ignore Phil as well.
Word Count: Â 2k (this chapter)
Warnings: Occasional swearing

**MASTERLIST | READ ON AO3**
âArenât you the least bit nervous?â PJ commented the next day as they walked with Spike in the local park near Philâs flat.
Dinner the night before had mostly consisted of both Sophie and PJ telling Phil about where he should take Dan around London and so he came up with a comprehensive list saved on his phone. But he still had many worries fueling his brain.
Like what if this was all a mistake? Daniel was a famous celebrities and surely he really didnât want some pleb like Phil taking him around London. But on top of that, wonât people see them? Wonât this cause some big news scene?
He didnât really want to do that.
There was a lot of weight on this line and he had to admit that it made him slightly nervous.
âNo,â Phil answers eventually, âI am. Iâm incredibly nervous.â
âHave you two messaged since last night?â
Phil shook his head. He hadnât even replied to Daniel last night after he had messaged him last night. He probably should have. He internally winced. Did he already fuck this all up because he didnât reply to him? He hoped not.
âYouâre over thinking already.â PJ commented just as Spike tugged at his leash and Phil looked to see what the pup was doing. He just saw a squirrel and was hoping to chase it but he held the little guy back.
âWell, I didnât reply back to him. Do you think I could have messed his up already?â
Pj stopped on the path and turned to him, hands in his coat pocket. âYouâre really asking me this, Phil? Less than a week ago, you were telling Gemma off about fantasizing about the hunky lad and now look at you. Youâre head over heels for the bloke.â
âIâm not head over heels for him.â
Pj cocked his eyebrow. âReally? Youâre really saying that right now?â
Phil blushed and continued moving in the direction Spike was pulling him. âWell, heâs seems not to be a bad guy.â
âSo you take back what you said before about him being pretentious and rude?â
Phil scoffed. âWell no. I donât even know him yet.â
âBut you know heâs not, though? Or else he wouldnât have already slid into your dmâs.â
âHe didnât slide into my dmâs.â Phil laughed. âHe just messaged me asking for a favor.â
âOh, and Iâm sure thatâs what Nick Jonas did with Priyanka Chopra as well.â
âShut up.â Phil laughed, hitting PJ gently on the side. âThis is all a bit ridiculous, isnât it? Like this feels like weâve entered an alternate timelineâa whole new dimension.â
âMaybe we did.â PJ commented with a shrug. âBut Spike over there is doing his business and Iâm sure that we canât launch that into another dimension.â
Phil rolled his eyes and walked over to Spike, pulling the bags out of his pocket.
Maybe they did fall into a wormhole and enter a new timeline. It sure did feel like it.
He, PJ, and Spike all left the park a short time later. PJ said he was heading back to his flat for the afternoon to work on a BBC assignment he was behind on and Phil figured he might as well get a jumpstart on his next one as well. The BBC had made it clear in yet another email this morning that Phil was not off the hook despite having to reappear to the building.
When he got back to his flat, he let Spike off from his leash and allowed for him to run off to his bed to sleep. He then set down with his laptop on his couch and opened up Illustrator to begin his next assignment. He was to create a new promo poster for the BBC radio one show and since he particularly liked that show, he really wanted to put time into it.
He slowly began to piece together shapes and colors when his phone vibrated against his side and he picked it up out of instinct. On his screen, he had a new Instagram message again. Without even unlocking his phone, he knew already they were from Daniel.
danielhowell: hello its me again! My manager gave me the go ahead to go out in London next Tuesday so are you free then? My bodyguard Joshua will be with us but i promise heâs a soft teddy bear.
danielhowell: I know i said this already but i do appreciate it! I like being able to go out and do normal things but its hard, ya know?
amazingphil: Itâs no problem! I donât mind showing you around London. There is a lot we can do.
danielhowell: I hear! I hope you donât mind that weâre probs going to be bombarded by people all day. I feel like I should apologize for that in advance...but it kind of comes with the packageâme.
danielhowell; that last part wasnât as funny as i was expecting it to be. Iâm sorry lol
Phil had to admit that he snickered. But he still was in complete disbelief that he was messaging back and forth with Daniel Howell.
amazingphil: I kind of figured. I saw some of the speculation on Twitter already.
danielhowell: Ugh Iâm sorry. My fans are always speculating about me. It sucks but there is not much i can really do. Iâm glad for them and i appreciate them because i wouldnât be here without them but they can be a pain.
danielhowell: that being said i can tell them to leave you be? I mean, they probably wont listen but it is worth a little bit of a shot?
Phil bit his lip. He couldnât ask that of Daniel already when there is nothing between them. Theyâre just talking about London and about Phil showing him around London. Thatâs all.
amazingphil: I couldnât ask that of you. Theyâre not bothering me directly.
danielhowell: well if they ever do, please let me know!
danielhowell: I really mean it. They can be...a lot.
amazingphil: Iâm sure i can handle them if need be.
danielhowell: okay mate but donât say i didnât warn you
danielhowell: oh, by the way, can we meet somewhere discreet? I want to keep my day as low key as possible and i donât want fans to follow me to meet you. Do you have any suggestions?
Here was the thing. Phil didnât know of many locations where any meeting or any sort was going to be discreet. Everything was pretty much out in the open around London unless you were in one of the back alleys where you could be shanked.
amazingphil: sorry, not really. We could meet at the BBC early on? I have a pass to get in so we can meet in there first?
danielhowell: okay. Fingers crossed I donât get plowed over by fans before then.
amazingphil: #prayfordaniel
#prayfordaniel?? Phil inwardly groaned and covered his face in shame. That was the dumbest thing he could have sent someone like Daniel and now heâd sent it and Danâs already read it.
He covers his eyes when his phone vibrates again for another message.
danielhowell: not sure thatâll work but it might worry the shit out of my fans lol
Phil found himself smiling really wide. This was nice. In a way, it almost felt like he might have a budding friendship with Daniel. Of course that was probably super silly but there was some place deep inside of himself that gave him hope.
Danâs next message widened that place.
danielhowell: can i just say another thank you for treating me like a human? Iâve tried talking to other people before and they all freak out or begin to obsessively fangirl and ngl, it gets tiring. really tiring. So i really appreciate this, Phil. it means a lot.
amazingphil: of course, Dan. Why would i treat you any differently?
danielhowell: :)
They stopped messaging not long after which made Phil feel a tad bit sad but he had a feeling this wasnât going to be the last time he and Dan talk before Tuesday.
He worked on a big portion of the BBC radio one advertisement and then he put his laptop on the charger to take Spike out for the bathroom and then order dinner from the local Dominoâs.
By that evening, Phil had settled into bed in a peaceful food coma and was scrolling through his social media feeds again. Dan had posted some tweets in replies to some fans and he wasnât trending anymore despite trending the entire week for filming and being on set.
But as he went through all of Danâs tweets, he realized that he actually didnât know hardly anything about Dan and he should probably look up some information before he meets him and makes a complete fool of himself.
He googles Danâs name and unsurprisingly, his name comes up automatically with a ton of tabloid reports.
Daniel Howellâs new beau??
Daniel Howell on set in London! Catch the behind the scenes.
Is Daniel Howell filming in London? We have the inside scoop.
Phil found them all laughable and all totally exactly what tabloid magazines do.
He clicked on Danâs Wikipedia page and decided to skim through it.
âDaniel James Howell, formally known as just Daniel âDanâ Howell, is a Hollywood actor, two time Oscar winner, and four time Emmy Award winner. Howell is best known for his portrayal as Romeo in the 2014 remake of the classic Shakespearean play Romeo and Juliet alongside Jennifer Douglas which earned him his two Emmyâs. His career took off after his role was heavily accepted by critics across all boards, some even naming him the newest A-List star in Hollwood. Since 2014, Howell has worked starred in many new movies such as âOne for the Roadâ, a coming of age story about a group of teenagers in America which earned his first Oscar, and âThe Year of Usâ, the star studded adaptation of the widely acclaimed novel by Stephanie Barry, which earned him his second Oscar.â
Phil finished that section and sat back. Wow. So Dan has been a popular celebrity for a while. He knew that. He remember how everyone hyped his role for Romeo and Juliet, calling him the next best Romeo after Leo DiCaprio.
But he honestly never paid any other attention to who Dan was or how he gained his stardom so fast.
âPersonal Life: Daniel Howell was born on June 11th, 1991 in the small town of Wokingham in the United Kingdom to parents Karen and Joseph Howell. He has a younger brother named Adrian who is a popular YouTuber influencer. Howell began his acting career at just the age of five when he was casted in a production of Les Miserables in his community. After his success in acting, over the course of his youth, his family moved to Los Angeles, California, in hopes of him to gain stardom. Howell starred in his first Hollywood film at the age of 16 but would not become known for his roles until the age of 23.â
Phil thought back to what he was doing at twenty three. Definitely not gaining any stardom, thatâs for sure. He was just sitting in Manchester, trying to make ends meet with a crappy job at Starbucks.
âIn June of 2014, one year after gaining his fame, Howell announced his battles with anxiety and depression in hopes to become an ambassador for his younger fans. He is an advocate for mental health and the ability for everyone out there to have access to a health care system that will help anyone who is struggling like he was.
In September of 2017, Howell announced that he was bisexual and dating fellow costar Kellen Queen. After less than a year of dating, Howell and Queen announced on social media that they were no longer together. Howell has not been reported to have dated since but Queen is now dating his fellow âTimelessâ co-star Helen OâReilly.â
Phil sat back and processed the information. If he thought back to it, he could vaguely recall the entire break up happening. He remembers the tabloids and the social media frenzy but he never kept up with celebrity news enough to really know what was going on.
But to see where Daniel had come out as bisexual was a lot. Mostly because Phil himself was gay. He tended to keep his romantic life quiet but for some reason, he kind of hoped that Dan would ask him about his sexual orientation so they can have something to talk about.
There was one thing Phil didnât mind and that was openly talking about his attraction to other men.
He closed out of Wikipedia, deciding he had read enough, and shut off his light. Spike has crawled in beside him sometime while he was reading on wikipedia and now he was curled in his side.
He fell asleep relatively fast, dreaming about Tuesday with Daniel.

Skyscraper review
Do you like Die Hard? Do you like Assault on Precinct 13? Skyscraper is like those just without the humour, brain or soul. Skyscraper is a film about a group of criminals who start a fire in a Skyscraper, so they can steal back a list of names, that threatens to expose their crime syndicate; and of course, Will Sawyer, (Dwayne Johnson), and his family gets caught in the thick of it. Does that sound ridiculous to you? Well, it should because Skyscraper is without a doubt the dumbest film of 2018. Things start off badly and get worse, the first act is a mess of contrived overplayed backstory, and hollow characters. Chief among these is Ben, (Pablo Schreiber), who is not even a character, more a poorly disguised plot device; being laughably underused then killed off. Then, the criminals decide to frame Sawyer, for no real reason, this combined with the fact that they have set the entire Skyscraper on fire to try and steal a USB drive, leaves you groaning and asking why. Those are just a few examples of the stupidest and perhaps even the worst script of 2018. Then you have the blatant product placement throughout the film which is downright offensive, think last years Power Rangers was product placement too far, well let me tell you this is a worse example. The characters, for the most part, are shallow, underdeveloped and ultimately frustrating. Characters such as Sarah Sawyer, (Neve Campbell), make decisions no one else would make in that situation, she leaves the Skyscraper with her son with no mention, not even one, about her daughter. However, the films one positive comes from its leads, Johnson and Campbell both give great performances, though the latter is given very little to work with, they also both have a great deal of chemistry together. Johnson is playing Johnson, just like always, but that isnât a bad thing at least not if you like The Rocks usual work, he sells the right amount of emotion to make the moments feel more than they should do, considering the poor writing. There are other positives too such as some impressive visual effects sequences, the mirror sequences in the pearl itself look beautiful. However, this is offset by some very lacking choreography at times, such as the fight sequence that happens in the back of a police car between Sarah and Xia, (Hannah Quinlivan), in which the action is barely even visible. Overall, this film feels incredibly dated, if it had come out in the 1990âs or early 2000âs it would be right at home, but in 2018 with many other better blockbusters coming out, it comes across as soulless and hollow. Skyscraper chooses spectacle over everything else, and it loses for it. The script issues, laughably weak characters, rip off nature and a whole host of other issues stop me from being able to recommend this one. 1.5/5 Reviewed by Luke  Â
