I've seen a little talk about how England leaving America on his own for so long messed him up a little (thank you reddit user who go that talk going). So i wanted to think about some of Englands' other colonies and stuff i guess?

so like we have America. I still stand he's probably like, Jamestown or something and over time he became the main US rep, like how the UK has the four brothers (five? Six with Sealand) but England represents them at meetings. Or Japan reps all of Japan instead of like a couple dozen prefectures showing up. That kind of thing. And like that guy's a little messed up. In earlier parts ofhis story, he's shown to just be really explorative, stil strong tho, but mostly jsut a nice sweet kid who happens to have three teenagers fighting over him. Seriously couldn't they share? Oh wait it's hetalia no they can't XD

anyways, it's only wlater once America is firmly under British rule that he starts growing the yelling and loudness. I think that's like the sign hhat he wants a little attention f rom England- like, he's shown to just be a guy when it's Canada when they're kids but england gets the "SHOVE FOOD IN MY PIEHOLE" treatment. And I think that's just because England keeps leaving and coming back but sometimes he just ignores the kids and does his own thing for a long time. Canada ends up letting America take the lead for them. And then later on once all is said and done America revels in his big parties and whatnot because the attention is on him, and it won't heal the hrut of England just leaving all the time but it sorta helps. (Canada doesn't count they're basically joined at the hip it's not the same).

and if you compare it to like the Italies for example. Austria was still there to watch over Italy North even though he really went for the uh. Less optimal route. But he was till there, in his own way. Prussia definitely wasn't going to leave HRE and later Germany alone unless he absolutely had to. Spain didn't jsut go gallivanting around when Romano was there (no comment onhis other former colonies). Ofc you could make an argument for Iceland, but by the time Norway took over he'd been alone mostly for 300 years, and even if Norway and Denmark didn't exactly visit all the time because i headcanon Iceland stayed happily on his island 90% of the time like Aland and Faroe Islands to avoid the drama called "four nordics pretending they could get along under one roof when they definitely are not good rooommate compatable", I doubt he was entirely without parental guidance. Norway could always sense him (so themoment anything bighappened Norway would be marching right over), and Iceland mentions sending letters out. I'm jsut gonna guess he sent the letters via Mr. Puffin, and I'd guess Mr. Puffin could always deliver some words if needed from overseas. Iceland also apparantly has fairies at his house so there's that too. Not thet he'd admit it.

But if you notice, it's def circumstance that gives some character which is cool when we're talkign about stereotype-based characters. Ameriica becomes loud and "ignores" the room when he's given the stage, because if he outrages everyone then he'll get attention. Italy N.. had everythig taken care of for him and has few worries, and a pretty good work ethic since Austria isn't a slacker. Roomano is a spoiled brat. Iceland....honestly boy just needs to accept the others rubbed off on him and he's just as kooky as the rest of them. I know you're a teen and all but kid c'mon you love them mystical animals and you keep bringing up your weird museums XD (I swear this child got Norway's anti-socialness, Sweden's inability to admit things (in his case, he actually likes hanging out with the others), Finland's oddness, and Denmark's everythign else because we all know Norway probably saw Iceland at last and had a crisis over it, man knows when Iceland appears but can't get around to taking the ruling for how many years????

And then there's New Zeeland, who had to raise Austrailia when NZ was also pretty young. NZ doesn't even have the hope of hep fro manyone- America and Canada i'm pretty sure still had visitors from like France and I think the Netherlands would have popped by a few times, because they did do a bit of um. Trading. with the colonies and stuff. Austrialia used to be on the other hand where they sent English prisoners. New Zealand is not ready for that kind of craziness, and so of course we're gonna get a free range crazy Austrailia and a done with it New Zealand who got no help and probabl ygot even less parental support then America. BTW it's crazy that technically GB still techncialy rules over so many big places like Canada and Austrailia even though they also technicall ydon't like that's just so wild.

so what have we learend from this? England sucks as a dad, and Iceland's teen rebel phase is in full swing. WHat was the poitn of this? I don't know but you read it and i wrote it so.....

Controversial Hetalia Meme Ask

Since I don't get asks I'm just gonna offer my opinion out there lol 

 Do you consider the 2Ps to be insane or no? 

Oh yes definitely. I know some fans are against the idea of insane 2P characters but I've been on board with it since I've first discovered it. When it comes to 2P!, I don't think these Hetalia characters exist in the same world/dimension. That's why when fans ask "oh what does 1P!America think of 2P!America," I don't even think exist in the same verse. 

 Opinions on HRE? 

I was never into chibitalia and HRE but one things certain, I truthfully believe Germany is HRE. 

What do you consider a big no-no in the fandom? 

France is a r*pist and Spain is a p*do really bothered me. Fans don't realize how hard it is for France to be such a passionate, loving nation only to live for so long without having an s/o to grow old with. Spain loves children I believe so I feel he'd be so disheartend to hear fans think of him that way.

Thoughts on Seychelles? 

I'll say this, Seychelles was a way for Hima to embody Hetalia fangirls and in the end she was crucified by the same fans who felt she was a threat to their ships. Think about it, Seychelles is cheerful, and shy which I know very well many fangirls act the same way. She was even the main character of Gauken Hetalia which was Hima's way to put us in her place, like we were part of the hetaliaverse. Maybe this is a western fans perspective but the way she was treated was horrible. She deserves so much better...

Thoughts on any of the Hetalia girls? 

They obviously don't get enough screen time and if there was a movie about them, I would support it. But let's be honest, Hetalia is fan service and Hima isn’t obligated to showcase diversity compared to western creators. I really like Taiwan and Seychelles because I think they're like me! 

Do you think the Nyos are offensive? 

I would be perfectly fine with the Nyos if it wasn't for their skimpy clothes. As soldiers, I thought it'd be cool to see them in proper uniforms but they weren't :( But like I said, fanservice, you've got to cater to the crowd.

Thoughts on controversial ships? (i.e: UsUk, Spamano, Itacest, etc.) 

I've never been a shipper tbh because I'm more of a historical hetalia fan. I've never liked USUK or Spamano because I feel these characters grew up like brothers. Especially Spamano, I don't feel right thinking Spain sees Romano in a romantic way after taking care of him as a young boy. Itacest, Germancest, and AmeCan is a big no no for me. It makes me uncomfortable tbh. 

Do you think the fandom is toxic? 

Every fandom is toxic but Hetalia got so bad at one point and now I think it won't go back to that unless there is a huge revival (ex. new season/movie). Idk if I'm a new side of the fandom but I really like the historical hetalia side because they are all educated, exciting and go past the two-dimensional character personalities.

What do you think makes a "bad ship"? 

I can't really imagine a bad ship because if you love two characters seperately and think they will get along, it's up to you. Like Prussia and South Korea? I would never imagine an interaction between the two but I think they would be fun together. 

Thoughts on cosplays using historical taboo outfits? (i.e: Germany as a Nazi, etc.) 

Ugh, this was such an issue in the fandom and I agree, it's horrible. I honestly don't understand why they would do that in the first place because Hetalia disregards the connection between Germany and the nazi government.

Thoughts on political fanart? 

I think depictions of war are okay but it's a big no no to do recent events or Germany or Prussia in concentration camps.

Thoughts on cosplayers cosplaying as a character of a different nationality/race? 

As long as their not doing blackface, or yellowface it should be fine in my opinion. I don't really care about cosplay. 

How do you feel about younger people in the fandom? 

I joined the fandom when I was like 12? My advice is always be weary about who you interact with in the fandom. Some fans may not realize what they spout... 

Do you think certain ships are canon/will become canon? 

No not at all, I think Hima is good at teasing tho. I think everyone agrees GerIta is mostly canon but Hima won't outright admit it. Example would be Buon San Valentino because he dropped so many hints but it wasn't "exactly" a canon relationship. It'll stay that way unless two countries unite together like AusHun. 

Do you think Hetalia is taken too seriously? 

When people talk about how it's propoganda and racist (pfft) definitely yes. People tend to forget this show is based off of Japanese stereotypes and not every show is westernized. If it was really racist, each character would be horribly called out on a past event or their physcial appearances are exaggerated. Their flaws are something we point out and laugh about because, yes, Americans really are too loud and friendly. See? Harmless. 

Thoughts on headcanons about a character that defies canon? (i.e; changing a character's gender, race, etc.) 

I can't think of an example of this but I always strictly follow canon.

Thoughts on straight ships? 

Again, I'm not a shipper but I do like PruHun to an extent. I wish I had an idiot like Prussia lol 

What ships do you consider abusive? 

Again, I don't pay attention to ships. 

Do you think a blogger should have to Trigger Tag a ship or character? 

That sounds a little ridiculous because I don't consider any ships or characters triggering tbh. If someone did, then I’m sorry i have too many posts to go back and tag everything.

What ships do you consider toxic?

Do you think any characters are/will be canonly LGBT? 

Oh yes definitely! But they have to be picky-choosy with which era they choose to be open about it. You cannot tell me Spain was openly gay for most of the middle ages under the Catholic church. In modern time, it's no big deal so I see them willingly going out and flirting or crushing on all genders. Then, I also see Prussia (who is former Teutonic Knight) who had a promise with God about virginity. I think his mindset and values are the same so he rarely gets involved with anyone. It happens every century or so? 

Do you think Hetalia sugar coats/numbs actual historical events?

If Hetalia didn't sugar coat historical events, it wouldn't be a cutesy anime. They have to sugarcoat as to not offend anyone and because the nature of the show is purely comedy. There have been numb moments in the show like all of Davie but that's to show a deeper perspective that nations face as immortals.

How do you feel about Mafia AUs? 

I used to really like them, but realized it's the same thing as cartels and gangs. If someone did a cartel AU for all the latin countries I would raise hell, so I imagine Italian fans feeling the same way. Idk I'm still deciding on it... 

How do you feel about WWII AUs? 

Being a historical hetalia fan I actually really like it. Of course if it's done in a respectful manner. I like hearing about fighter pilot America and sniper Russia. I like to hear about how Prussia was treated like shit because he wasn't the ideal blonde hair, blue eyes like his brother. I like to hear France and England having to team up despite not liking eachother and how devastated England was when France fell to Germany. I also like to hear about Denmark protecting all the Danish jews and defying against Germany. I like to hear the amounting pressure Japan must've felt having to please his boss while backstabbing China and Korea, the people he loves dearly as family, at the same time. So yes, I do like WWII AUs but I'm happy Hima has strayed away from that topic. It's not everyone's cup of tea...

Fact: Russia was the first country to put a human-made object in space (Sputnik 1), have a man-made-object touch the moon, launch an animal into orbit (the dogs Laika, Belka and Strelka), put a man into space (Vostok 1) and put a space station in orbit (Salyut 1).

Just a note, Russia was not the first country to send an animal into space, that would be the U.S. with their fruit flies and later on a monkey.

The space race ended with American landing on the moon in 1969, but space discovery is still a big thing in Russia. Russian space agency is called ROSKOSMOS, kinda the Russian NASA if you will. They keep sending rockets into space as we speak, often work together with NASA and you can see some of the launchings online!

Headcanons: Russia loves space, has a vast knowledge of the subject, studies astronomy in his free time. Loves watching racket launchings and travels to the launching spot if he can make it. Likes taking Prussia with him, as Gil is also interested in the subject. The GDR took part in USSR’s space race and helped with it. His technical and engineering expertise is precious to Russia even today. They enjoy going to Roskosmos’ bases and spending the day there, talking passionately about the whole thing.

Ivan was (is) the biggest fan of Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, and keeps a poster with him in the bedroom. He also has a very big, well-maintained telescope in the garden and uses it often.

Russia and America don’t always see eye to eye and their space rivalry used to be a source of tension, but today it’s one of the very few things that connects them instead of dividing them. They work together on their space projects and can relax and enjoy each other’s company when they talk about that stuff. Both of them have been to space and consider it one of the best things ever. When they work on a space program together, it’s almost like they are friends again.

Cringy RUSPRUS headcanon: The spacecraft used to send Gagarin into space was called Vostok 1, and was part of the Vostok program, which in Russian means East. I Headcanon that East is Prussia’s nickname, he had it since forever and it comes from the fact that his lands are (were) placed east to other Germanic entities. So calling him East really only makes sense when you speak about him in the context of other German kingdoms and entities, but it for some reason caught on – especially after WWII it made extra sense as there was West Germany and East Germany. So pretty much everyone was using it at that time, but it has a much older history.

My cringy headcanon is that Ivan was the one to name the spacecraft/program Vostok and it was in honor of Gilbert, tho most people just assumed it was because of the general west vs east thing. But for Russia, it was about #Romance (he’s so cheesy, I love it).

EDIT to add: And he totally wanted to let Prussia name it at first, bc #Romance, but Gil is sooo bad at making names! He would be like “Um, let’s call it a... space...ship? Cause you know. It’s a ship. In space” “...Can you try harder,?” “Um, space...flying...capsule?” “That’s it, I will name it myself!”

Hugs? Hugs are the best. Well, maybe second best to cuddling...but that is just a very long version of a hug, so it’s technically still the best.

Because you can convey so much with a hug, and everyone hugs differently!

For example my brother Romano he is not the biggest fan of hugs. But when we do hug he always hugs me with one arm around my waist and the other around the upper back just below my shoulder. We often rest our chin on each other's shoulders. This is often a hug for comfort and it’s a rarity so I treasure it.

Germany on the other hand, I hug a lot, but somehow the beginning always feels a bit awkward, even after all these years. It’s is a sign that he doesn’t hug a lot still. My arms can’t quite reach across his broad frame but his hugs never fail to make me feel warm, safe and loved. And I hope my hugs convey even a fraction of those feelings back at him.

Japan and I  almost never hug. I have learned over the years when it was and was not okay to hug him. The most frequent hug we do is the side hug. Which is sitting next to each other and wrapping an arm around the lower back, this can give the comfort the other needs without touch becoming too much. Tho it’s awesome when he does fully hug me on the rare occasions

Speaking of awesome, there are of course Prussia’s hugs. His could be back-breakingly strong. But that is a reason I enjoy them so much. He really throws his all into a hug. If he is very happy he’ll even spin me around. His hugs always lift me off the ground regardless tho, and they make me laugh.

But if I talk about bone breaking hugs, I, of course, have to talk about America. We don’t hug often, but that boy doesn't know his own power. His hugs always leave me to feel winded and a bit out of breath. It's quite a unique hug.

His brother Canada’s hugs in comparison are really warm and soft. He hugs very carefully, and always invoke a calm kind of warmth. Fitting with the calm soft spoken personality of him and his people. It’s very relaxing to be hugged by him.

Russia looks also soft and warm, but it’s far less than it looks. You do feel he is really trying to convey nice feeling through his hugs tho. But he tries so hard it almost always gets a bit awkward or creepy. Even if I am a bit put off by them, I still enjoy them, because he tries his best. And that makes it sweet and nice in its own special way

England's hugs are nice too. I think he is one of the people I hug least. And the last couple of times I took him by surprise with hugging him. So he was very stiff, but as he melted into it and it became something soft yet protective. Like a father or grandfather hugging his child close.

France's hugs have some of that feeling too. But that can also because I know him for far longer than the others. I think I hug him the most and longest from all the ex Allies. His beard is sometimes a bit scratchy against my skin, which can get a bit uncomfortable at times. But so I always recognize it’s him.

I have to be careful not to hurt China while hugging him. I could hurt his back if I squeeze him to tight. I felt so awful the first time that happened. So now I am super careful when I do hug him, afraid to hurt him again. I think it’s a reason he avoids hugging me

Someone who never avoids my hugs is Miss Hungary. We always hug when I come over to visit. As greeting and as we leave. We hug a LOT when we go looking through old picture albums. Often cuddling up beside each other on the couch, which also ends in her petting my hair.

And when I go see her, I also go see Austria. We don’t really hug, we more sit next to each other and our sides touch. And maybe the occasional shoulder hug. That usually only happens when I impress him, often with music skills. It always makes me feel so proud

Proud. …  … … Would my grandpa be proud if he knew with how many people I have been able to become friends with? I always loved his hugs. They made me feel safe, like nothing in the world could go wrong. And that no matter how bleak things seemed, it would be alright.

I think he would have loved my other self. Luciano. He is very stiff and some might consider him dangerous. And he most certainly is when he is doing his work. But to his family, he is a sweetheart. We cuddle quite often actually. But only when we are sure only family can see us, he has an image to maintain after all. His hugs can bring me great comfort.

His brother, and my brothers other self, Flavio. He has trouble with physical touch, The only one he really touches is his own brother. So we never hug actually. But he is so nice, and always looking out for me. I was allowed to hold his hand the other day tho! So that is a hand hug and that is just as great. I will never push him to hug me, I like him the way he is.

I love every one of my friends and family. And everyone hugs so different, some fitting their personality to a T and the others are so different. But I love every single one of them. I hope I’ll enjoy hugging you too when I meet you

WELL my friends since we are here!! B) let me divulge to u ,,, the evolution of Lud. i could start with him as a child but i admittedly know way less abt that time period n also that would take ten years so that shall be for another ask

ludwig during ww2 was rlly rlly messy in the sense that he wasn’t exactly in his right mind. he’d defo been brainwashed by the propaganda n in general he wasn’t a fun guy to be around. ludwig was arrogant, impetuous, too hyperfocused on exacting revenge n showing everyone wrong. he thought he knew best which rlly caused a rift between him n his brother

his desperation in the time period just before ww2 led him to grasp at literally any promise of smth better, but instead of rising back up he fell down the slippery slope to some place even further from where he’d originally started. ludwig turned a blind eye to many things he shouldn’t have at the prospect of havin smth- anything- better for his ppl n a shot at revenge n power aka proving himself bc he was young n stupid. he ostracized those that truly cared abt him like his brother (who was never rlly for what was going on), rod, eliza, liech n im sure a few others as well, isolating himself to soak in that damn web of lies

ofc disillusionment is never pretty esp when ur the one who made the mistakes n as we’re all aware ludwig had screwed up big time. by the end of the war ludwig’s eyes were opened n his middle name was Regret his first name was Guilt n his last name was Failure. ya boi was not in a good place emotionally not to mention economically, socially n politically but yk thats another story!! 

what i would like to touch upon is where ludwig was maturity wise at this time. i’d like to remind u all that ludwig at the time of ww2 would’ve been hm 130 at most?? less than two centuries thats for sure. in nation years he was a child, he should’ve looked like a gotdamn child but nah lud grew up too fast by the start of ww2 he was already lookin 18-19. ludwig was forced to grow up fast n tho this is applicable for many nations he grew up at a time when many of his “peers” already had centuries beneath their belts. i’d argue this is esp important to note considering how most of the european nations grew up at roughly the same ish time. this explains some of why lud was so eager to stake his claim on the world. he would’ve felt a heckin lot of pressure to show he rlly was on their level

anyways ludwig was young af when he was thrown to the wolves n tho that doesn’t justify his actions it’s smth to keep in mind

alright so before the division of germany ludwig had always had gilbert around for him. gilbert had raised him since the v beginning n even thru his ugly stages aka ww1 n ww2 gilbert had stuck w him. it was only after ww2 that ludwig was truly separated from his brother, forcing him grow up once n for all n shoulder the true burden of a full fledged Adult™. war guilt, recovery n repercussions ensured it. moreover, ludwig felt responsible for the abolition of prussia amongst many other things that had occurred as a result of the war so a big part in his magically doubled maturity was the desire to recompense for his wrongs n become someone his brother might someday be able to forgive

which is ridiculous considering gilbert would die for ludwig get it bc he did

so anyways!! ludwig builds himself back up into a respectable member of society n bam we get all the goodies of present day germany like the EU, etc. germany rn is one of europe’s most influential players n i would say?? a lot of this is bc ludwig wanted to make up for what he did wrong tho this eventually was coupled w a desire to become a nation his ppl could be proud of again n i’d say he’s done a fine job of it! ofc this isn’t to say he’s without his problems but ludwig today is a much more mature n agreeable man than he once was largely due to what the world forced upon him n how he decided to handle it

tldr; ludwig was Messy during ww2. he realized that was bad n felt rlly guilty esp bc of gil gettin demoted from nation status so ya boi worked rlly hard to become someone his bro n his ppl could be proud of n matured n accomplished a lot making him into the gr9 dude he is today

WELL i don’t really have a proper notp for hetalia - i’ve had that level of passionate dislike to the point of like feelings of offense for ships in other fandoms (like asushin from evangelion) but there isn’t really a ship that i feel that strongly about in this fandom. i do have ships that i dislike quite a bit tho. like romantic polhun.

I think that fanfic ultimately has the capacity to make any pairing interesting tbh because it’s a divergence from canon with a completely different personal sensibility of the author!
