i remember my teacher teaching me about active and passive voice and whatnot and ever since then i pay so much attention to it and every so often ill just think;
'Huh, I used a passive voice there.'
or
'Passive voice would sound so much better there'
or
'Theyre talking in an active voice, oh shit nvm they switched'

tutoring & loving
genre: enemies to lovers!AU, tutor!reader, popular boy!eunwoo, high school!AU, JEALOUSYYYYYYYY, flooooooof!!! angst but it’s okay because angst is wonderful, basically most of my favorite AU’s combined in one
warnings: jealous eunwoo and this AU is much more in depth than the others ones
words: 2.8k
note: this is an old draft that has been sitting in my notes so i thought i would post!! enjoy and I HOPE  EUNWOO IS CASTED FOR TRUE BEAUTY!!!
Tumblr media
as one of the top students in class, all of your teachers absolutely ADORE YOU
school is pretty smooth for you: you study well, pass tests, socialize with friends....... except for one little threat that makes your life so much more difficult...
Cha Eunwoo.
not only is he one of the most popular boys in your grade, but unfortunately he’s also your seat partner for English and he’s the most annoying person you have ever met
you haven’t given him a reason to disrespect you!! ... okay maybe sometimes when you see him and his group of friends being loud in the hallways you shoot an icy glare....... ok and MAYBE you roll your eyes everytime he says smth dumb in the middle of class
but other than that??? completely innocent you are. but this man doesn’t seem to agree, as he seems to have made his life goal to ANNOY THE SHIT OUT OF YOU.
foe ex. you would be peacefully paying attention in class when suddenly you feel something kick your foot
and when you look up, you see eunwoo “paying attention” to the board and feigning innocence
but you immediately know that he’s just trying to aggravate you because when has this man ever actually paid attention in class??
so you go back to listening when you feel ANOTHER kick and you’re like BITCHoh hell no so you kick him back bc we’re not all perfect human beings let’s be honest
and now y’all are kicking each other back and forth, and everyone can hear the desks shuffling underneath them
he also makes snarky marks constantly when you literally just breathed???
like you would sit down at your seat and he’d be like “Congrats, you’ve somehow managed to choose the ugliest outfit in the world to wear today”
and you respond, “It’s about time i have a turn, you’re wearing the ugliest outfit everyday” and then you just glare at each other until the teacher tells you two to snap out of it
on some days eunwoo will just flat out point out one of your flaws like if your hair is messy or if there’s a stain on your shirt
so one day your English teacher asks to see you after class and you’re like Oh he’s just gonna offer me extra credit ... but instead of doing that he asks right off the bat, “i have another student that needs tutoring, are you willing to take one more?”
for the past month, you’ve already been tutoring a few students your teacher recommends to you. it’s easy money, especially since you’re saving up for college
only this time, you can tell he’s desperate because he’s like “Please (y/n) he’s failing in English and misbehaving in class you’re my only hope!!”
and now you’re like Hawld on..... Why Is He Being So Desperate About This.... like you’re cool with tutoring..... what makes this-
the realization strikes across your face.
who in this school would you would hate teaching??? who is failing in English??? WHO IS THE BANE OF YOUR EXISTENCE. look to: c. e. w.
“ofdjoaaja i’ll give you gummy bears or something” he pleads. and honestly, if you were not so broke, you would’ve spat on his feet and walked out the door. but you need the cash, and you sure do like gummy bears.......
you gracefully relinquish, and your teacher gives you a proud smile. he then goes on to tell you that his mom requested extra help smh why couldn’t she have just hired a tutor i hate rich people.. anyways so yeah pls Help me
so the next day @ school you approach your seat and you see eunwoo sitting on his desk, talking to his friends until he notices you.. and he’s about to open his mouth to probs criticize your untied shoelaces but you interrupt him and are like:
“eunwoo i’m privately tutoring you starting today. Meet at the library after school.”
and he’s just sitting there, jaw dropping to the floor and you’re like :) He’s finally quiet for once...
but little did you know that during class he’d be pestering you with complaints like:“why you??? is there anyone else that can do it???” “i don’t need tutoring.. i’m getting consistent D’s... not a singular F and it ain’t much but it’s honest work”
at a certain point, you get so sick of his complaints and go like “your mom asked for you to be tutored!!! OK i didn’t just ask to tutor you, you dumbfuck.”
and once you mention his mom he just kinda shuts up... and stares at his desk for the rest of the period
ou notice this and recall the teacher telling you that eunwoo’s mom is a tiger mom... you keep this in mind because now you know that making his mom proud might be his motivation
after school, you wait at the library for him inside.. but a couple minutes pass and you’re like ? did he forget ? .
and eventually an hour passes and you’re like nope he’s definitely ditching
and honestly,,, you feel a little betrayed and a little hurt ... but just when you’re about to leave you see him panting and making his way to your table nd you’re like ???????and eunwoo’s like “im so sorry i forgot...”
and you’re like oh? so you didn’t ditch?
and he’s like No!! i just ... forgot.
and you’re like well you little shit don’t forget next time i’ve been sitting here for an hour..but then he reaches something from his pocket and hands it to you and it’s a triangle sushi (it’s super crumbled too...)
and he’s like “i got this to make it up” and you’re like flustered and just weirdly but pleasantly surprised he feels this bad about almost flaking
but you catch yourself slipping and go back to your annoyed tone: “uh-What the fuck are you on?? I-Wh-I’m not hungry. T-thanks tho.”
the first tutoring session is... awful to say the least.
he couldn’t pay attention well and continuously complained and even tried to go off topic
like you’d be asking him what foreshadowing meant and then he’d be like “so.. where’s your family from (y/n)?” 33r*#$&(@$
after an hour of no progress you get frustrated and shut the textbook, about to call it a day
but just when you stand up eunwoo grabs your wrist
and he’s like “where do you think you’re going?” you scoff and reply with “why do you care? it’s not like you want to be tutored right? well i don’t want to tutor anymore”
when you try to budge, you feel his hand still firmly gripping onto your wrist and you’re like “let go of me” until you realize he’s staring at you dead in the eyes
and in a quiet voice he sadly says “please don’t give up on me... i’m trying my best.”
it looks like he’s about to tear up and that’s when you realize that you need to be patient for him... and need to help him because he’s trying to make his mom proud.
when you sit down again, he gets a bit startled that you gave in so easily but regardless, a relieved smile spreads across his face.
instead of going back to teaching, you conclude that you two should “break the ice” first so tutoring wouldn’t be you two just glaring at eachother
“breaking the ice” turns into a two hour conversation about random things or anything that comes into mind.
eunwoo is really good at conversing and he’s good at filling in the awkward pauses and bringing up new topics!!
next thing you know the librarian is trying to shoo you guys outside since the library already closed fodjsoakal
when you get back home, there’s a stupid smile on your face and you’re like SHIT why am i smiling? why can’t i stop smiling???? get yourself together youRe just helping him you still think he’s annoying!!! ..but he has a breathtaking laugh... NO he’s still that annoying guy i hate
the rest of the tutoring sessions aren’t as bad at you thought.. eunwoo is actually pretty smart he just has the attention span of a toddler honestly.
you could be trying to read him an excerpt from The Great Gatsby and when it’s his turn to read.. it’s absolutely silent and when you look up like ???
you see him staring at you and you’re like “eunwoo.. it’s ur turn” and he’d be snapped out of his trance and be like OH! and ask you where you left off
and inside you’d be like.. was he.. staring at me?? (he actually was. you just looked so pretty reading out loud with such emotion)
after a couple of more classes with him, he starts immensely improving in class. he doesn’t really bother you anymore, but he stills throws some playful remarks at times.
tutoring sessions seem to be effective, and you learn that he actually has a really.. really great personality
one day, you’re approaching your seat in English and are about to roast eunwoo as your daily routine when you almost bump into somebody
but thank god you have great reflexes so you managed to stop yourself... and when you look up you see a handsome face and you’re like. Oh.and he’s like smiling sheepishly and is like “sorry! i’m clumsy hehe” and you’re like Oh.. he’s cute
you smile back and insist it’s fine.. and now you’re both still standing there smiling at eachother because he’s like eye candy
he manages to introduce himself as Moonbin and you’re like I’m (y/n)!! and then his face transforms into recognition and he’s like “oh! you’re eunwoo’s tutor aren’t you?”
and you’re like “Oh?? yeah how’d you know?”and he’s like “Ah.. i’m good friends with him. i heard your tutoring sessions are really helpful though. you’re super smart”
and on the outside you’re like :3 m-Me????!??! <3
what you actually say: ah, thank you.
then he’s like “do you mind if you tutor me too?? i’m kind of struggling in English as well” and you’re like “oh sure!” it’s raining money girl
the bell starts ringing and he waves goodbye
you go to your seat with a wide smile, and when you sit down, you don’t notice that eunwoo is glaring at you
so when you look at him with a smile on your face, he gets even more glary.
you quickly wipe the smile off and are like “oh it’s you.”
but instead of insulting you back he’s like “why were you talking to Moobin?” and youre ???? “why CAN’T i talk to Moonbin? he was asking me to tutor him.”
when he hears that, he clenches his fists under the desk and is like.. “did you accept his offer?”
and you’re confusedly like “yes.. why would i reject him?”
not one to handle complicated feelings well, eunwoo just stands up, his chair loudly screeching against the floor.
he wants to tell you that he doesn’t want Moonbin to watch you read lines from poetry so dramatically, smile whenever he makes a joke, text him reminders to study before he goes to sleep.
but when you’re looking at him with such bewilderment in your beautiful eyes, your facial features frozen as you wait for his next move, he feels disgusting for having these feelings towards you. you’d probably be happier with Moonbin, who doesn’t have these nasty problems you’d be burdened with.
but before you can even properly react, he’s leaving the classroom and you look around, grateful that nobody was watching.
and you don’t know how it happens.. but your feet control themselves and now you’re running after him, not caring about class starting already
and as you’re sprinting, so many scattered thoughts run through your mind. eunwoo.. jealous? does he like you? and even though you thought you were interested in eunwoo... there’s something about eunwoo you can’t let go about.and there’s no way you’re going to lose him.
so when you finally catch up to him you grab him by the arm and turn him around so he’s facing you... you hug him tightly.
and the crawling feeling that’s been stirring in eunwoo’s stomach suddenly dissipates
and bc you know that nothing will be the same after this, why don’t you just end it off strong? so you confess
you quietly tell him that you’re new to this... relationships have always been a new territory for you. liking somebody is new for you. “please don’t run off and let go of me either... i’m trying my best, too”
and he wants to push you off of him, tell you what’s best for you, and go back to being the annoying shit he once was. but your hug feels so nice and.. well.. maybe eunwoo can be selfish once in a while.
falling in love with eunwoo is a gradual but addictive progress. when people describe falling in love, they would describe it as fireworks... exciting but risky. you would pretty much say the same but.. it’s so much more than just that.
it’s feeling tingly and funny when he randomly holds your hand or shows affection. it’s feeling enormously upset when you’re not around him or when you see him talking to somebody attractive. it’s feeling empty when he cuddles you because you want this to last forever, but you’re scared because you know it won’t.
you tell him this as you two are nestled on his couch, blankets jumbled across and TV playing some cooking show neither of you care about
he laughs and kisses your forehead which makes you feel that stupid tingly feeling again.
“are you confessing that you’re in love with me (y/n)?” before you can try to smack him, he says “i love you too.”and with that.. you quietly respond “i love you...”
and it feels so refreshing voicing that out loud.
eunwoo as a boyfriend would be the most blood rushing and adrenaline pumping feeling there is. he’s filled with so much energy that it’s never not fun around him
he would sneak you into carnivals, and take you on the ferris wheel where you two would probably makeout in the passenger car scksksoao
he’d also try to win you prizes at the arcade but.. he’s just so bad at playing it and either A) you end up playing and winning him a prize or B) he bribes the arcade owner to give him the prize
lots of PDA. lotssss of them.
sitting next to eunwoo in English is a struggle now.. he’s always distracting you from the teacher.
like you’d be taking notes but then you’d feel his head on your shoulder and now he’s straight up cuddling you in class
eunwoo always encourages you to have more fun
“you’re always locked up in your room, studying.”
thus, he likes to knock on your door and enter the house with your parents’ delightful approval (because your parents love him. so much.) and go in your room and shower you with kisses while telling you that it’s time to stop studying because you’ve been reading the same chapter over and over again
your texts to each other would be littered with emojis that don’t even relate to the message. like you’d text “i stopped studying. are you proud of me 💃👒🐟🥐”and he’d reply with “of course my sunshine 🍣🎧🔑”
you still tutor him but your tutor sessions are a lot more longer now since they take place at either of your houses instead of the library LMAO.
+ after tutoring him, you two would just cuddle and raid your fridges
when you meet moonbin again, eunwoo gets a little jealous again since he thinks that moonbin has a chance of snatching you
but after kissing him and assuring him that you’ll never be “snatched”, he feels so relieved
eunwoo relishes all of the affection you give him. and he always gives you twice as much :’)
one day the same English teacher asks to see you after class and you’re like “is there something you need?”and he’s like “.... ok so tell me how y’all went from kicking eachother to cuddling together in class 🤔🤔”
and you’re like “.. BYE I THINK I HEARD SOMEBODY CALLING ME”
the doors were closed... nobody heard anything...
when you ask eunwoo why he hated you so much in the beginning, he tells you that he was just jealous of you. jealous of how flawless you did in academics and how you’re such a bright student + your glares were “extremely unnecessary”
he also tells you that his older brother is already a doctor and has been so successful in everything so his mom always pressures him and compares them
and you’re like weaving your fingers together while telling him “don’t compare yourself. he is him and you are you.”
and you pause.. and say “and i love you this way. i’m proud of you”
and eunwoo just immediately breaks down right there because nobody ever tells him that.. nobody is ever proud of him
falling in love with one of your enemies was definitely one of the best things that’s ever happened to you :)

Word Count: 4,814
Warnings: unprotected sex, teasing (sexual and nonsexual), kinda fluffy at the end! (take that lightly, i dont write fluff well lmfao)
Tumblr media
You stood in front of your closet, continuously searching through the clothes as if something new was going to appear. You pulled a black skater dress off of the hanger and slipped it over your head, looking in your mirror, only half satisfied with the way it looked.    "You're just trying on the same dress in different colors, it's not that hard to pick one." You jumped when you heard a voice behind you, turning around to see none other than Tate. Your family had moved into the house about seven months ago. Both your mother and father were some kind of twisted horror fanatics, so they purchased the house knowing full well you'd be the owners of "Murder House." It was strange to get adjusted to at first, it's like living with ten other people, but only sometimes. Tate made himself visible the most out of everybody.    "How long have you been sitting there? Fuckin' creep." You scoffed, sitting on the edge of your bed to put on a pair of black boots.
"Long enough." He smirked at you, standing up to walk to your desk, flicking through your notebooks.    You saw Tate most often, but frankly, he was the last person you cared to see. He was obnoxious, arrogant, and overall just kind of a douche. You'd come home from school to see him laying in your bed listening to your music. Or you'd wake up in the middle of the night to things falling off of your bookshelf, furniture moving with no one being there. It was always him though. It's like he got off on just screwing with you; so he did. Quite often. Everybody else in the house was decent. Nora was sweet, she just cried a lot. Which was fair given her situation. Chad and Patrick were both okay individually, but when they were together, they were beyond irritating. Just so incredibly passive aggressive - you couldn't imagine being stuck in a house for eternity with someone you wanted to divorce.    You stood up, smoothing out your dress before grabbing your small bag and slinging it over your shoulder. Your parents had decided everyone was going to go out on a nice lunch today.    "Can you get out? I'm leaving." You pushed past him, opening your door and motioning him to walk out.
"I can never get out, angel." He said, sounding just as conceited as ever, making his way to the door, leaning against the wooden frame. "But I guess I can leave you to your little lunch date with mommy and daddy." He teased you condescendingly. You'd done your best to not let him bother you, but he knew exactly how to get under your skin.
"Thanks for being so kind, Tate." You gave him the sweetest smile you could manage, slamming your bedroom door when the two of you had exited.
ii.    You'd finally gotten home a few hours later. Your parents were very good at starting conversation with every server you'd ever had. They get talking, and then the server gets talking and it seems to last forever. They do always get some kind of discount or something free for being kind though. Your mom had been a server for a decent part of her life, so she was always extra nice to them.        Telling them you had homework to work on, you made your way upstairs to your room, hearing music coming from behind the door. Just as you suspected, Tate was sprawled out on your bed, hands behind his head, eyes closed. You sighed and walked over to your bed, smacking Tate's side.
"Can you get the fuck out? I have homework to do." You hissed. You definitely weren't going to do homework though. You'd probably end up reading, or watching YouTube or something - but Tate didn't need to know that part. His eyes opened slowly, and you felt like you couldn't look away. He looked angelic (ironically.) His blond curls spread messily around his head, face peaceful, and most importantly, he wasn't talking, which made him look amazing. Without a word, he moved over to one side of the bed, making room for you on the other.
"Tate, I mean it, get out. I've got shit to do." You tried to sound strong - however, you weren't very threatening.
"Whatever you've got to do, just do it quietly." He mumbled, eyes closing once again. Looks like you weren't going to be getting him out of your room. With that, you grabbed the book you've been reading and took a seat at your desk chair, kicking your boots off and putting your feet up on the desk. Your dress fell just a bit to reveal part of your upper thigh. Within minutes, you heard quiet snoring coming from the boy in your bed, blankets pulled up to his chin now. How he managed to make himself so comfortable in your room remained a mystery. It was his room first, technically though. You looked up from your book to see him snuggled tightly under the dark purple duvet, lips parted just slightly.
You couldn't take your eyes off of him - he looked so  peaceful and quite beautiful honestly.     No - what the fuck are you thinking? You thought to yourself. You don't like Tate - you haven't since the day you moved into this house. He was rude and condescending and way too overly confident. He might be nice to look at, but that's all he had going for him. You had to shut those thoughts down immediately. You shook your head and picked your book up again, returning to the chapter you were reading. iii.    "Why are you going to school? Wouldn't you rather stay here with me?" Tate teased, leaning against your door frame, blocking you from leaving. He'd been there since you woke up, but he wasn't going to tell you that part. He'd watched you strip out of your pajamas and slide into your hip hugging denim jeans. He enjoyed seeing you - there was something so erotic to him about just watching you go about your normal routine. Not only was it erotic for him, he just liked to watch you. He was fascinated with the way you'd wing your eyeliner, or paint your lips your favorite pink nude. He liked seeing the way you'd quietly sing to yourself in the morning. Most people that moved into that house were terrified of him and everyone else there. You and your family were so different for him. Tate hadn't felt accepted probably ever in his life. Being accepted, and even admired was such a new feeling for him.
"No, Tate I wouldn't. I need to go to class today." You huffed, slinging your bag over your shoulder and crossing your arms. He had that stupid smirk stuck to his face. Today, it was hard to tell him no. He did this every few days, and you always pushed past him without a second thought. Today, you kind of wanted to stay home with him. But you couldn't. You'd always done well in school, and it was something you took pride in. So you did what you always did and pushed past him, looking over your shoulder to see him watching you walk away.
"Your ass looks cute in those jeans!" He called, blowing you a kiss oh-so sweetly. Your heart jumped a bit with his words.    You sat in the cold blue plastic chair, resting your head in the palm of your hand as your English professor babbled on about the assigned reading. The assigned reading that Tate wouldn't let you finish. You were sat in your bed, legs crossed at your ankle trying to finish the chapter. You looked up to see none other than your blond haired nuisance. He was wearing torn up black jeans and Doc Martens. You had the same pair. He crawled over the iron swirls of your bed frame, and laid next to you - uninvited. He tried to talk to you about whatever he could - about your book, about your boots, about himself, about how good he thought you looked in a denim mini skirt. His flirting was always sarcastic. At least it seemed that way. No matter how sarcastic he was though, somehow his words always made your heart flutter. No matter how much you tried to suppress it.    "(Y/N)? Can you tell me what happened to our main character in chapter 7?" Your teacher had her arms crossed over her chest, pulling you from your little fantasy - you just zoned out in class thinking about Tate fucking Langdon? Really?
"I-well Mrs. Sanchez..." You stammered, sucking your bottom lip into your mouth, cheeks turned an almost electric red. How the hell did you get so carried off thinking about a boy you thought you couldn't stand?
"Please pay attention, all of this is important." She said, clearly unhappy with you. You were one of her favorite students, but she had almost ridiculously high expectations of you. Oh well, you thought, she'd forget about it tomorrow.    You closed your front door behind you. It was about 3 o'clock. Your mom and dad would be at work for another couple of hours. But you were sure you'd walk upstairs to find Tate curled up in your bed for his afternoon nap, just like you found him there every day. He was a bit predictable sometimes. You trudged up the stairs, desperately needing some alone time. You'd found yourself day dreaming about Tate more than once. You'd see something that reminded you of him, and you'd feel your heart jump in your chest. You'd thought about the little freckle on his nose, and the way he'd touch all his fingers to his thumb when he got a little nervous. You'd thought about the one time you walked into the bathroom to see him shirtless standing looking in the mirror. His jeans were unbuttoned and hung low on his hips. His muscular shoulders stiffened a bit when he saw your reflection.
"I-I..." You stuttered, unable to look away. "I'm sorry, I didn't know you were in here." Your cheeks were beet red, voice audibly shaking.     "That's okay," He turned around and took a few steps towards you. "You can walk in on me like this whenever you want. It seems like you're liking what you see." He growled, his hand moved to rest against wall next to your head.    You sighed and threw your bag to the floor, kicking your shoes off quickly. That memory ignited something in you and you couldn't deny the wetness forming between your thighs. Swiftly, you unbuttoned your jeans and slid them down your legs, crawling into your bed. You hooked your phone up to your speaker, playing your "Steamyyyyy" playlist, as if you'd ever been with more than one person before. You ran one finger down your chest, to your stomach, finally reaching your black panties, one finger rubbing light circles over your clothed clit. You let out a throaty sigh, gradually picking up speed. Your eyes were closed, head thrown back onto the black silk of your pillow case. You pushed the fabric to the side, your fingertip finally making skin to skin contact with the little bundle of nerves held between your soaking folds. Your lips remained parted, letting out desperate little whimpers every few seconds. Your free hand gripped at the sheets as your finger worked faster, whimpers eventually turning into loud moans. You hadn't been alone to do this in so long - honestly, you'd forgotten what it felt like. As alone as you felt, you logically knew you were never alone in this house. Tate was sat in your desk chair, a distinct protrusion pressing against his light wash jeans. His jaw hung open as he watched you, in shock over how beautiful you looked.Your mind was running with thoughts of none other than him; you thought about his fingers working you like this, his large hands caressing your skin, his full lips pressing kisses into your neck.
"Tate..." You gasped, fully immersed in your fantasy, feeling that familiar tighten in your tummy, your fingers moved harder almost instinctively. Tate sat there, quiet. You'd finally rendered him speechless. His name fell from your lips several more times. His hand clapped over his mouth to hide his whimpers as you made his cock twitch against his boxers. Truthfully, he'd fantasized about you more times than he cared to admit. Seeing you like this was just a happy accident. He'd walked into your room with the intention to scare you, throw some stuff off of your shelves to mess with your head. But he stopped outside the door, hearing muffled moans. He opened the door slowly, eyes widening when he saw what you were doing.     Suddenly, the coil inside of you snapped and your legs started shaking. Your jaw hung agape, nails digging into the soft fabric beneath you.
"Oh- fuck! Tate..." You hissed loudly, guaranteed that someone, somewhere in the house heard you. But, it was just Tate. He now stood at the end of your bed, watching as you soaked your fingers, his hand gently palming himself through his jeans. Once you'd finally ridden out your orgasm, you pulled your fingers from their spot between your legs, sighing deeply, satisfied. Your eyes finally opened and you looked around - still no one. Part of you was surprised Tate wasn't there to make fun of you. It was in that moment that you realized how loudly you'd been saying his name. You literally gotten off to him. He'd invaded your thoughts throughout the day and now he was doing it again in your only alone time. God dammit. You sighed and leaned up in your bed, rubbing your eyes. You couldn't keep playing this game with him - you needed to ask him what the hell his goal was. You needed to see what he felt for you.
You stood up and slid back into your jeans from earlier, making your way to your bathroom down the hall. The closer you got, you could hear a voice coming from inside. Your hand met the coolness of the door knob, but you stopped, feeling your knees weaken when you realized what you were hearing. From the other side of the door came strained grunts. Your heart was racing but you couldn't pull away. You pressed your ear against the door, the voice getting louder and louder.
"(Y/N)," the voice hissed - your suspicions were confirmed, it was Tate. "I-I'm gonna' cum..." He hissed, letting out a loud, relieved moan. Your mind was racing, desperate to see what he looked like in that moment. Moments later, you heard the zipper of his jeans and quicker than you meant to, you began your little run down the hall and down the stairs, no doubt he heard your foot falls. Your heart was going to jump out of your throat, you were sure of it. It was your own fault for thinking you'd ever have any kind of alone time in this house. Tate never left you alone - he saw you. He had to. There was no way that was a coincidence. You opened he fridge, not really looking for anything, just trying to occupy yourself. You jumped when you saw two hands on either side of your head, making contact with the fridge. Speak of the devil.
"Tate! You-you scared me." Whether he saw you or not, it was clear that something had you frazzled.
"Can we talk?" His voice sounded deep, gravelly, almost like when he'd just woken up. You finally turned around and looked up at him. His hair was a bit messy, cheeks tinted a pale pink.
"Yeah, about what?" Your voice shook with your words, hands clasped tightly in front of you. You looked up at him as he pushed his body closer to yours.
"No need to act like you don't know what you heard." He growled, chest pressed tightly to yours. "And I'm not going to act like I didn't see you soaking your sheets thinking about me."
His dark eyes looked bright. He got some kind of thrill out of embarrassing you. You opened your mouth to say something sarcastic back, but no sound came out. Tate being this close to you was making your heart race, you didn't have the overwhelming urge to shove him away like you normally would.
"I think," He whispered, lips ghosting yours, "You like when I tease you." He smirked, one hand moving down your side to your hip. "Why don't you tell me what you were thinking about, hm baby girl?" His lips brushing yours forced an unintentional moan from your throat, cheeks flushing almost instantly.    "I-Tate..." You were mesmerized. He had you in the palm of his hand and it excited him. "I wasn't thinking about you." You tried to lie, realizing just how dumb you sounded after the words came out.
"Oh Tate," He raised his tone to mock you, "Fuck me, Tate." He chuckled down at you. "Nothing to be embarrassed about doll, I know you heard me saying your name just like that too." He gave your hip a firm squeeze.
"After what, nine months in this house, I think it's time you live your fantasies."
He held you tightly in his hands, spinning you two around so you were pressed against the edge of the counter top. You had nothing to say. Honestly, you were unbelievably excited. You'd thought about his hands touching your skin, his lips on yours, you've wanted this longer than you cared to admit. Your hand came up to hold one side of his face, taking a fistful of his hair and kissing him - hard. His lips worked against yours perfectly, feeling as if they were made to fit together. He got rougher, not hesitating to take control of you. He pushed you firmly against the cool marble behind your back, lips moving from yours down your jaw and to the soft skin on your neck. His kisses started gentle, but quickly got aggressive, nipping at the skin, leaving purple marks in his wake.
You tugged at the hem of his t-shirt, feeling him smirk against your skin before he pulled back to tug the gray fabric over his head, showing you his slightly toned torso. Your heart rate picked up once again as you looked him up and down.
"Your turn, angel." He cooed softly, watching as you followed his actions, tossing your tank top to the side. He smirked at you, using both hands to grope at your exposed chest, pressing possessive kisses to your chest.
"I've always loved it when you don't wear a bra." He teased you, his playful, mocking tone returning.
"It's much more obvious than you think." He smirked and tweaked one nipple between his pointer finger and thumb, making you whimper from the slightly satisfying jolt of pain. You leaned your head back, allowing your eyes to shut as his tongue replaced his fingers, flicking over your nipple. Your lips were parted, letting out quiet gasps of pleasure. His now free hands moved down your sides and to your jeans, unbuttoning them with ease and sliding them down your thighs. You kicked them aimlessly to the forming pile of clothes on he floor.
His kisses started moving south, trailing them down your breasts, to your stomach, to your hips, finally reaching the thin cotton fabric that was now soaked between your legs. One of his hands came up to lift your leg over his shoulder, his lips pushing a few light kisses against your clothed pussy. You whimpered, desperate for him. You'd never admitted it to yourself, but Tate has always a central theme in your fantasies. He'd force his way into your thoughts without you even realizing it, and after you were done, you'd push it away and pretend like you'd thought about someone else. You didn't want to be attracted to someone as annoying and immature as Tate, but now he had his head between your thighs and you had no intention of stopping it.
He'd pushed the thin fabric aside, flicking his tongue against your clit just once, to make you moan out in pleasure.
"Stop teasing me, dick head." You half whimpered, half challenged him. You did want him, so badly, but you couldn't let him see just how wrapped around his finger you really were. With your words he roughly pulled your hips forward, forcing a harsh smack to your ass.
"I like you much more when you're just moaning my name." He growled, but he listened to you. His lips attached to your clit and he began sucking lightly, not hesitating to push two fingers into your wet heat, making you squeal in pleasure. It'd been a long time since someone else's fingers had penetrated you, and somehow Tate was fucking amazing at it. He curled his fingers perfectly in rhythm with the way his mouth worked your clit. Your hands gripped the edge of the counter top, knees growing weak. You felt that tight heat rising in your tummy, his fingers and tongue getting you so close to release, much quicker than you ever did by yourself.
"Tate- I'm gonna-" He stood up, smoothly lifting you up onto the counter, keeping your leg slung over his shoulder.
"You're cumming on my cock." He growled dominantly, his eyes looking dark and almost feral. He kicked his jeans and boxers to the side, completing the pile of your clothes. You couldn't help but watch as he stroked his length a few times before lining it up with your entrance, pushing into you painfully slowly. You looked up at him, taking in his features. His jaw hung open a bit, blond curls hanging in his eyes. He looked as perfect as someone possibly could. Once he bottomed out inside of you, he looked up, beginning to thrust into you, starting slow and picking up gradually.
"Fuck-" He hissed through gritted teeth, "You're so fucking tight." His hands rested on the counter on either side of your hips, fingertips turning white from how hard he pressed into the surface. He kept up a steady pace for awhile before you felt his hips stutter - he was close. He brought one hand up and began rubbing fast circles over your clit, making your legs tremble around him.
"Cum with me, angel." He growled, fingers picking up their pace, your lips barely brushing his as you felt that tightness return. Your jaw hung open now as he pushed you closer and closer to the edge. You watched his fingers and hips work in time against you, when all of a sudden you felt him release, covering your walls with his hot cum, forcing the coil in your tummy to snap. You came with him, nails digging into his shoulder, knees feeling weak before it was even over. You watched his face relax once he was finished, chest rising and falling quickly. He looked up at you through his hair, flashing a faint smile. He pulled out of you slowly, pressing a loving kiss into your cheek before bending down to dig through the pile of clothes to find his boxers. He slipped them over his legs, followed by his jeans, but you stayed in your spot on the counter.    "What? Why are you looking at me like that?" He looked at you, jeans resting low on his hips.    "You get on my fucking nerves more than anything, and somehow you managed to have me up on this counter for you." You shook your head, blatantly in shock from what just happened. You didn't want it to end though. There was something about seeing Tate so vulnerable, yet so confident that just left you wanting more. He smirked, pulling his shirt over his head and shrugging.    "Neither of us are complaining." He smirked, tossing you your shirt and helping you down from the counter. You pulled your tank top on, opening your mouth to respond when you heard the key turn in the door - your parents were home.    "This isn't over, Langdon." You hissed, grabbing your clothes before rushing up the stairs, accidentally slamming your door much harder than you intended.    A few weeks had passed since your encounter with Tate, and there had been a repeat of those events every few days. You two started to pick up on what the other one liked. Like how you enjoyed having your hair pulled and Tate enjoyed when you'd kiss his neck. He liked having you in control. For someone as confident and douchey he was, he liked having you dirty talking him, being the more dominant one occasionally. And god damn, that boy was always in the mood. You'd feel his hands on your hips when you'd brush your teeth in the morning, or when you were getting ready for bed, he'd kiss down your shoulders the way he knew you loved. But you didn't mind. If he wanted it, you were happy to drop what you were doing and sleep with him. It was a fun little arrangement.    It was late, probably around 2 A.M., Tate was laid next to you, a blanket covering him from the waist down, his arms behind his head. You looked over at him, feeling your heart race a little faster. The more time you spent with Tate, the more you grew to appreciate him. He was funny, and charismatic. He'd make you giggle but then have you bent over your bed in the same minute. You couldn't help but miss the feeling of him when you slept alone in your bed. He was always warm.    You pulled the blanket tighter around your chest as you leaned up on one elbow, looking over at his sleepy face.        "Tate can I ask you something? It's kind of dumb, but I just need to know." You felt nervous all of a sudden. You weren't even exactly sure what you wanted with him. Could you be in a relationship with someone who died in the 90's? Was that even what he wanted? What if he just wanted to be fuck buddies? Is that okay with you? Your brain was jumbled with all these thoughts, interrupted when he looked over at you, skin almost glowing in the dim light.    "What's up?" He looked up at you, his finger drawing lazy circles on his chest. You took a deep breath and visibly shifted, clearly uncomfortable.    "What are we?" You blurted out, cheeks going red immediately. "Because we- we fuck a lot. You're in my room a lot. You never let me be alone, and I just don't want to say something weird, or continue being in the dark I guess." Your voice trailed off before you collapsed down onto your back again, suddenly unable to look at him. He looked over at you though, you couldn't meet his eyes.    "What do you want to be?"    "No, don't put this on me. Answer my question."    He sighed, and you finally looked over at hi,.    "(Y/N)," He started, looking over your chest before looking back into your eyes. "Honestly, this started as sex." Your heart dropped. "But you're right, we have spent a lot of time together. I like being in here with you, regardless of what we're doing." He moved to cup one side of your face.    "I don't want to tie you down, ever. I can't leave this house, and I don't want you to be stuck here with me." You opened your mouth to cut him off, tell him that you were willing to be here with him, for however long he wanted, but he cut you off, brushing his thumb over your bottom lip.    "How about this - you and me continue what we're doing here. We can be boyfriend and girlfriend here, but I won't be mad if you find someone else, out there." His words almost brought tears to your eyes. You hadn't felt cared for like this in so long, and to be here, this vulnerable and intimate made your eyes well up.    "Please just agree. If I could leave this house, I'd ask you to be mine right now, and I'd parade you around for everybody to see. But I can't do that, so we keep doing what we're doing, and see how things progress naturally." He flashed you a close mouthed smile, but it felt genuine nonetheless. One tear fell down your cheek, and you returned his smile.    "That sounds perfect to me. Boyfriend and girlfriend, kind of." You grinned before he pulled you into a kiss, hands wrapping around you to keep you in his arms - and you'd stay there as long as he wanted you to.

Plance au where it hurt
I warned you . I really warned you .
Also , the ending is rushed . Sorry , my patience is low . I truly am a failure .
Edit : maybe it wont hurt so bad
Plaance god tier au where pidge and lance hooked up in the club and pidge got preggers . Unfortunately , the child died under mysterious circumstances during the third trimester . Lance had been with her the whole time , so he tried his best to comfort her even when she pushed him away .
The next year , lance left to pursue his career in the garrison in hopes to forget his pain . Pidge had left to recooperate , unsucessfully . She ended up avoiding meds and fell into anxiety and depression . They avoided each others interactions because they felt like they were the reason the child died .
The following year , lance and pidge had met in the same club again . This time , they were drunk enough to hook up again for real sad sex . A lot of tears and love , but in the end it was a one night stand . The next morning , lance left the motel without telling her . He didnt want to hurt her any more than he already did .
After realizing she was pregnant after a month , pidge hit the road with little to nothing . All she had was ten thousand dollars from stashing money for her baby , most of which her parents and brother had given. Pidge decided to get a cheap van from the scrapyard , got a liscence for the car , ditched everything she had inside and with her little driving skills , went off to somewhere she didnt know . All she really had was a driving liscence to prove her identity . She hid it away .
In the end , she only had a five thousand left . Yes , this was a time where everything wasnt real . This is a fic . Do not take things too seriously .
She literally disappeared overnight - nobody really knew where she went . All they had was a bought cheap van to go off on . How far couldve she went , people asked . Shes just a child , everyone said , unable to find her within a twenty mile radius the next day .
Pidge had driven for days , trying to get to the rural countryside as fast as possible . She found a little village after being lost for hours on end on a obscure forest path - and decided she was going to stay .
The villagers immediately noticed her van . Soon , a crowd formed and when she stepped out of the van , they crowded around her like scavengers looking for prey . They spoke in french , oddly enough - a mix of it . Italian , french , spanish was what she heard all at once .
A red hair girl put up her fist , silencing the villagers . " Hello , " she spoke in french . " Can i have a house ? " " No , " the red haired girl said . " The only house left are in the fields . It is dilapitated . " " Then can i have it ? " The villagers thought about it , buzzing even louder for a while . " Yes . We can help you fix it , " pidge heard from a few people at the front . It seemed to be agreed .
The villagers buzzed around for a bit , discussing their next move . Eventually , they asked a old lady to take her in while they went to look for items to fix up the house with . The red haired girl , with a thick french accent , told her in english : " We will help you . Come with her , she will feed you . "
And oddly enough , it felt like home . Their hospitality - it mustve come from a lack of visitors and her odd way of entering , their curiousity - but pidge was too tired and hungry to be cautious . It was the best human interaction she had for days . The red haired girl proceeded to bring out her items for two guys to take int othe home of the old woman .
The old woman , she was called " old rosa , " had no name . So she took in the name old rosa . She could speak english fluently , although she tripped over her words a bit . " My dear , come and eat , the villagers will help bring in your items . I suppose theyll make your van a bit more hospitable for you . " " Where are you from ? You speak english quite well , " pidge had asked . " Britain , my dear . Although i dont know where . But i do have a postcard with a picture - me and my parents . Everyone says it is a place in Britain , the english folks did . It was a baby me . But now , i cannot remember for the life of me where i am from , my name , my everything . The villagers , they took me in . Incredibly kind of them , " old rosa told pidge fondly .
" Why have you come ? " she had asked pidge . " Because i am pregnant , and to run away , because my relatives will speak to me unkindly if they knew , and i did not want to disappoint my parents and everyone around me again , " pidge sighed . She crossed her arms , unsure if she made a good decision or not telling her . Old rosa simply smiled , wrinkles becoming even more prominent . " I have a child myself - she has a baby boy . She can help you , if you want . The doctor is her husband . They can help you , but they might get a bit too excited about a new baby , " old rosa laughed . Pidge giggled , despairingly remembering what lance said about her giggles and laughs . How cute and bell-tinkly they were .
Oh , how she wished he was here to help her , but only the crevices of her mind said . She had long pushed him away , for the sake of her sanity . Her eyes welled up a bit nonetheless , and she gently thumbed over her stomach . That day , she had woke up alone and cold - perhaos it was for the best . At least you didnt pay for the motel room , a tiny thought sparked . It didnt help much , but a shimmer of hope tugged at her heart . Maybe she could pull through , with or without lance .
Old rosa present a bowl of rice and two poached eggs inside . " I really couldnt do much - i just wanted to make something quick for you my dear . Besides , the resources man hasnt arrived yet . On sunday he will , and on sunday we can go visit him for food . Yes , we are self-sufficient , but the doctor needs items . The resources man is very kind . He gives us what we need for free . I think the government set aside money for us - very kind of them . "
Pidge quickly came to realize her chatter as she ate . She smiled , breaking the poached egg and deciding to mix it with her rice . Old rosa just kept smiling , talking on and on about everything . It felt so nice - like her brother and mother fussing over every little thing that happened to pidge every day .
Another flicker of sadness - how lonely she was . If only she had her family , her lance - no , not her lance . He was just a little crush . That is all . But homesickness struck - how far away was she from her family ? It was selfish of her to leave .
The red haired girl came back in . She spoke in their mixed language - " The van , we tried to make it more homely , rearranged items but kept in sight . You do not have much , so we gave you some blankets and a mattress and pillows and clothes . "
Yes , this wasnt home , but pidge could deal with it .
As the year went by , pidge quickly upholstered her van-home into a much homier place . She made a few good friends . Connor , the fabrics person , he was incredibly kind and sweet , came over often to check on her and drown her in soft wools and cashmeres of all colours . He felt oddly motherlike , perhaps because of his feminine preferances . Old rosa became increasingly motherlike too , taking more and more care of her . The red haired girl , osara , she made sure pidge had priority to make sire the baby would be safe , along with her .
Old rosas daughter , maybellina [ yes , maybelline the makeup brand however you spelled it played a part in this ] , was very kind and loving , like her mother . Her husband , tom , made sure she had checkups every now and then , sometimes popping over randomly to check on her .
Sometimes she would visit connor - he had a huge old castle as a house , his family hadi t for generations . Although he was lonely as the only one , it was fine by him . They were walking up a whole lot of stairs to his sewing and looming room thing , when he had abruptly asked : " Pidge , i was wondering , do you know someone called katie holt ? You come from somewhere else , right ? I have told you before , i study at the garrison . Someone called katie holt , she had disappeared . I heard her parents , her brother and his boyfriend , they have been searching endlessly . They do not know where to find her anymore , " connor said . Oops , yikers ! Haha , no good . Thats all pidges mind provided before shutting off .
So she just stared at him blankly , before connor being the huge softie he is , started blushing and buried his face into her hair , murmuring something along the lines of " im too soft for this . "
And that , my friends , is how the start of something more than a friendship begin . Perhaps pidges mind shutting off helped .
_______________________________________
Lance had firstly , freaked out after pidge went missing and secondly , spent his weekends trying to find clues of her anywhere . So when connor , the nice guy [ actually nice ] asked him what he was doing in the middle of class , he decided to just spill the beans for the sake of his sanity and his already sad heart . " She used to go by the name of pidge . Pidge gunderson . Shes the fu-ing cutest girl youll ever see , " lance had ended . Yes , he self censored himself . Connor was still pure .
Oddly enough , connors eyes seem to be interest at the name of pidge . And even more weirder , he asked lance to be his teammate for this science project on fabric tendancies . The garrison is weird , dont question it . So connor invited him to his home , which worked out well cause all weekend lance just went pidge mode . And he decided to pry more cause he seemed to know a bit .
So that weekend , he saw a girl with long hair that vaguely looked like katie holt . " This is a pidge i know , " connor said . And oh fuck , it clicked in his head - connor's brain shut off after realizing what he did .
Pidge had changed - her hair became longer , more fluffy . Lighter coloured too , from spending time outside . And the most prominent change - she had a baby . With curly blonde hair . And blue eyes .
In lances mind , he couldnt fathom why he had ever decided to leave the motel room anymore . And neither did pidge .
_________________________________________
In the end , everything ended with a flurry of kisses and love , before night struck , and the next morning lance had left again . He had to go to school , which was logical of him . So she didnt put it against him , just helped him get ready and said bye at the door , albeit sadly .
_________________________________________
The years went by . Her little dilapitated house was finally put together . What little she had , pidge tried to make the best of it . She slept with her two children to keep them warm .
Yep , child uno numbero two . I dont know spanish , sorry . I am trying my best on duolingo , though .
Connor still checked up on her , lance still asked about her . He was like the middleman . Poor guy had a affinity for both of them .
One day , lance showed up randomly with a nice suit and a sexy , sleek black car . " Pidge , your parents . They are trying to pry anything about you from me and connors cold , dead hands . Just go back to them , please . Im sorry i didnt have the heart to come visit . "
For whatever reason , it sounded so halfhearted for both of them . Maybe because lance didnt want to make her leave her home and talk to her about it . And they both knew it .
Pidge , she felt hostile .
So she made sure her children never spoke to him if he came .
The next time , he tried to coax her to leave with him to go home . Not happening .
The third time , lance got hella pissed , and started packing up their things . " Lance , why are you doing this ? I dont want to go back . "
And lance softened . " Because i want to take care of you . I finally found you , finally get to see my children , and i finally have money to take care of my family . "
Pidge dragged him out . " Ill consider it . "
_______________________________________
The next time he visited , pidge was ready to leave . " Ive said my goodbyes , said ill come visit . Dont let me down . "
The first thing they did was pack up her items . Put it in her old refurbished van , and while pidge drove his car , and lance drove her old van .
They went to the village , said one last goodbye , and with heavy hearts left . But something inside of pidge lightened . She was finally going home .
__________________________________________
Osara , old rosa , maybellina , tom , connor , they all came to visit pidge and lance when they got married . Their children - samantha for the older curly blonde and girasol for the younger straight black haired - were the little bridesmaids . How cute .
When matt and shiro got married , everyone came back again to celebrate .
Years went by . The village finally got internet , so lance and pidge got the occasional call , and called here and there . Connor and pidge and lance were still as close and cutesy as ever . They visited the village , watched it grow and expand . Helped pidges old friends out . They dragged connor out of a abusive marriage that firstly , left him with seven children , and secondly , a lot of freedom .
And life was nice . Even though pidges family were heavy pissed , they got over it within minutes and only had love left . Even when times got rough with connor when his family was slowly falling apart because of his wife , he managed to kick her out . Very nice .
And a lot nice things happened that lead them to a nice little marriage again , with a epic threesome . Yay for me wanting fluff ! Yay for connor , poor guy !

READ END NOTES!!!!
•••
There he was, wandering the streets late at night, heading to where he used to live when he was little. The walking was slow, he couldn't even hear the sounds of the city anymore. He didn't remember the last days, couldn't remember waking up at 5 in the morning everyday to go to work. He didn't pay attention to anything he had done.
It had been about two weeks, it was still a fresh memory. He couldn't believe it, he kept thinking it was a nightmare, but a nightmare he couldn't wake up from. He had walked for about two miles, face and neck dripping from the tears he recently had rolling down his cheeks, wetting his clothes and dropping on the ground. It was still a long road ahead, even though he was shaking and his hands freezing because of the cold. He loved the cold. Every time he felt it, it reminded him of the warm and cozy hugs his lover used to give him, and it made him smile.
He simply gave up. It was sad thinking that everyday from now on, it would be the same, over and over again. On his earphones, there was random music playing, on the loudest setting available. The probability of this resulting in health problems didn't even scare him anymore. He didn't care.
He stopped in front of a white colored building, that wasn't even that visible because of the bad lighting. He stood still, frozen, unable to reason for a few minutes. It was his home, back in the school days.
He used to live with his parents, and still remembered their routine, to this day. Oh, school... He missed waking up with a purpose, going out there to acquire knowledge. He loved learning. Having to pack everything before he left, his backpack weighting more and more as the year flew by. He got at school and was welcomed by his friends, not even thinking that one day, this would all be over.
What he didn't know is that he would be in this situation. Everything changed so drastically, in so little time. It seemed like everything would end soon - and he wouldn't be able to enjoy any of his final times. Every second matters, and Namjoon knew this now, better than anyone else.
He walked away from that street, heading directly to the city. But now, with a different destiny. After about twenty minutes, he sat on the grass, still wet from the afternoon rain, and kept looking around that place. The only light source was the moon, hence why he could only read what was well pronounced. Tears kept flowing by, now faster than ever, it was his first time coming back in two whole weeks. Even though he didn't want to, he remembered an episode that happened on that school patio. He wouldn't be able to forget that, ever.
It was one of the coldest mornings of 2014. The boy always went out feeling cold, his fingers cold, even though he was wearing two hoodies and a heavy jacket on top of them. The long period of time he spent in that place was always worth it. It was before class that he saw Seokjin, the one who, besides being two years older than him, never got old. The one who kept him safe when he got scared, warm when he got cold or even for no reason at all, always kept close. Jin was his home, and it seemed that, putting all limits aside, when they were together, was the only one that made everything turn infinite. To him, Jin was, and will always be, the only one. There was no other option besides loving him, and only him.
He never felt like it really was real. Until it was August 5th, and he left his house without feeling cold. He found it weird, but decided to ignore it. After a 15-minute walk, he got to school, and waited for Seokjin, but he wasn't there. Odd, he thought, since they always waited fot he bells to ring there, together. He waited for a few more minutes, hoping someone would come. He felt lonely. Nobody came.
The bell rang, He got to class and stayed there, until the last period ended. Before he got home, he checked the rest of the school to see if they were making a prank on him. They weren't.
He got back home, ran to his room and locked the door. His heart was beating abnormally fast, his breathing failing and then, decided to call Jin. After 5 missed calls, the phone stopped ringing, and he let out a sigh, waiting to hear a "hello" coming from the elder. He didn't hear anything.
"Hyung?"
"Namjoon..." - his voice was shaking, almost like a whisper.
"Hyung, where are you? Why didn't you come to school today?"
"I'm sorry, Namjoon..." as soon as he heard that, his heart skipped a beat - he could hear Seokjin crying on the other side of the line. "But I'm at the hospital, I was in a lot of pain early in the morning today, so I called the boys to keep me company, but my phone was out of service. I'm hospitalized, Namjoon-ah..."
Hearing that was the last thing he did before hanging up and rushing to the car, completely ignoring the fact that he still wasn't allowed to drive"
"Room 138"
These words were enough for him to sprint through the hospital, running over a few nurses, so he could finally open the door and see five people sitting around the bed, staring right back at him. Not even in his wildest dreams, he thought he'd have the image of Seokjin lying on a hospital bed, looking almost lifeless, skin as pale as the walls around him, connected to breathing machines.
The face of fear the youngest made mixed together with his want to cry. Tears already formed on the corners of his eyes. It was Jin who was laying there. His face, once happy and always smiling, now expressed purely the feeling of angst, in a way that was never seen before. He looked terrible. His eyes, that always smiled before his mouth, were now showing sadness. His full lips, that always had a smile on them, looked dry and chapped. Jin never let his feeling out loud. He only let the good and positive ones show through, so that he could make the others happy, lift up everyone's moods, and mask his own bad ones.
It could be any of them: Taehyung, Jeongguk, Yoongi and even Hoseok lying there, and Namjoon wouldn't ever feel as bad as he felt now. He cared too much.
"What... What happened?" He softly asked, frozen at the sight of his love on that bed, hearing one of the boys, probably Jimin, standing up and pulling him inside the room.
"I..." The elder started, already feeling his chest burn and the tears making their way down his face. "I'm sick, Namjoon-ah..." At each word he heard, Namjoon could feel his legs tremble, so much that it got to a point when he couldn't hold himself up any longer. "I have cancer."
Ever since that day, Jin fought at all times. Namjoon, each passing day, got worse and worse at hiding his own pain. His health framework got worse each and every second of the day. Everyone knew that it was coming to an end, even Seokjin himself. What they never knew is that it could happen this soon.
Time was never healing to the youngest. Because of it, he was never able to have his first kiss with the man he always wanted. He wasn't able to travel to his dream place with the one he loved. Nothing occurred the same way Namjoon planned out, it almost seemed that, each passing day, he was getting closer and closer to the end. To him, time went by too quickly, so slowly. Time was like a weapon, but automatic. You start the fire, wait a couple seconds and, soon after, the bullet flies through quickly. Depending on the gun, it damages a little, or ends up destroying it all. This time around, it wasn't the former.
Kim SeokJin, 12.04.1992-08.09.2016
It was then and there that, after everything that happened, the only thing he could do was smile. There was wind blowing on his hair, his body going back and forth, he could feel butterflies on his stomach. Jin really was the only one for Namjoon. He really, really was.
It was two days later, that the turn to read the name was the other ones'. Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung, Jungkook. There they were, for the second time that same year. This time, there was a new name added beside their eldest hyung's.
Kim Namjoon, 09.12.1994-08.23.2016

-----
I’m late, I’m late, I’m late, shit!
You repeatedly mouthed the words to yourself under your breath as you squeezed past the throng of people crowding the hallways, occasionally throwing an apology across your shoulder if you bumped into someone. Opting to not take the front entrance into the lecture hall, you ran up flights of stairs to reach the back entrance. By the time you reached the top, you were gasping for breath, your thighs were burning and you could feel the first beads of sweat roll down your back. Slipping through the crack of the heavy wooden door, you settled into the closest empty seat, trying to steady your breathing as your pants became too loud within the enclosed space.
Deep breaths Y/N, deep breaths...
You internally heaved a sigh of relief when you saw the empty podium in front, glad that your professor for this class will not have a bad impression of you.
But your relief was short-lived as the booming voice right next to you soon commanded for attention.
“Alright let’s get started, now that the last student is here.”
As he walks down the flight of stairs to reach the podium, it gives you enough time to observe the authoritative figure. His black leather jacket and ripped black jeans made him look exceptionally tough, and you swore you saw some male students flinch when he walked past them. His hair, which was the colour of warm chocolate, was too long and brushed against his eyelids.
He looks like a model that has just stepped out of a Harley Davidson advertisement.
But you mentally berated yourself for the inappropriate thought, and proceeded to haul it out of the window.
When he stepped onto the podium, he surveyed the whole room before starting again.
“Good morning. My name is Park Sungjin and I’ll be your TA for this semester and for this class.”
Ah, so this was the legendary Park Sungjin that you had heard so much about during your first semester. He was famous for being the top student of the graduating batch, with an impeccable portfolio to match. Apparently, he’s so good to the point that many companies and graduate schools have offered him a place amongst them. But, he is also notorious for being a tough TA and everyone’s advice was to just stay away from his bad side if you ever had the fortune (or misfortune) of being in his classes.
All you wanted was to pass this class peacefully so you made it your goal to not cross the line.
However, when he opens his mouth to give the next set of instructions, you knew that you were already on the wrong side of the line.
“So now, if you’re ready Ms Y/N, I’ll begin with the introduction on the topic.” Giving you one last hard glance, he turned to face the screen. Everyone else was furiously copying down notes, but not you.
He said my name, he knows who I am. I’ve been singled out.
It felt like someone had just passed you the death sentence.
-
A week passed by uneventfully and you tried your best to not attract attention to yourself in class. You were on time, and you were attentive in class. You never gave Sungjin trouble – or Mr Park, as you know him by now. Yet, such tactics did not work on him. You knew that you had his full attention when he stares at you from the front as he is giving lectures, even if you’re sitting in a last row. He’ll always linger a little longer behind you as write answers to the mini quizzes in class. You made the mistake of looking up at him once, and you nearly combusted under his hard gaze. What’s worse is that you can’t decide if he approves or disapproves of your work. Perhaps that was the most agonising part.
Today was no different. After handing up your papers for the quiz to the front, you attempted to slip away with the crowd but you just couldn’t slip past Park Sungjin’s attention.
“Y/N, could I have a word with you?”
You halted in your steps, his monotone voice sending chills down your spine.
Why me…
Squeezing your eyes shut and taking in a shaky breath, you turned around to face him before walking in his direction. Your steps were a little too hesitant and you were obviously clutching onto your bag too tightly because this was the first thing that Sungjin said when you finally stood in front of him.
“You can loosen your grip on your bag strap, your knuckles are turning white.”
“O-o-oh. It’s a habit, sorry.”
“What time do your lessons end today, Y/N?”
“6pm. My last lesson is Introduction to Psychology.”
“Good. Meet me at Conference Room 2 of the Social Sciences block, 6.30pm sharp.”
“Yes. Anything else…?”
“That’s all. You may go now.”
Giving Sungjin a curt bow, you scurried out of the lecture hall as fast as you could, dreading the time when you had to see him again.
6.30pm came too early for your liking, and you soon found yourself face to face with Sungjin once more. A thick stack of papers were sitting by the corner of the table beside him and you knew immediately.
“I’m here to grade papers?”
“More or less; I’ll be giving the final grade and you can help me critique.”
You simply nodded before assuming the seat in front of him.
The next time you looked up, your neck popped up with a loud crack and the clock read 12am. Sungjin kept you thoroughly occupied for the past few hours, papers being presented to you in a systematic manner. You’ve said more words to him a few hours than you’ve said to all your professors combined last semester. While disguised as ‘extra exposure’ for you, deep down you knew that this was Sungjin’s special torture method – and you finally understood what others meant by getting on his bad side.
But the torture didn’t end there.
“Y/N, don’t forget that we have an assignment due the next day. Oh, and don’t be late. See you tomorrow.”
Everything sounds really innocent but you knew what Sungjin really meant was “Don’t mess up tomorrow Y/N.”
You wanted to let out a sigh of frustration but instead you swallowed it and merely replied with a spritely “Yes” before leaving the office.
 -
And this went on for months. Every single time Sungjin gave your class a quiz, you would find yourself in the conference room with him grading papers; sometimes at the expense of your own work. It gradually extended to grading papers from his other classes, but never once did you complain. You knew better than to argue with teachers, much less Sungjin. Every time he looks at you, your words die in your throat; how on earth were you supposed to hold an argument with him? But, of course, when you were back in the comfort of your dorm, which was when you were cursing and swearing at him. At one point in time, your roommate almost called an exorcist, thoroughly freaked out by the way you were flaying your limbs in the air as you continued screaming in frustration.
Needless to say, the late nights left with less sleep, and little energy to pay attention. You were up till 4am last night (or should you say morning), rushing out assignments due today for 2 different classes. You had burst into Sungjin’s lecture hall a good 20 minutes late but in your state, you didn’t care anymore. As usual, you settled into the closest seat you could find, one hand combing through the tangles in your hair, the other rummaging through your bag for your lesson materials. But you were so thoroughly exhausted that you fell asleep 10 minutes later, you pen stopping midway across your paper.
The next time you regain consciousness was when Sungjin’s voice calling your name rang through the speakers.
“So, Ms Y/N, what do you think of the question I just raised?”
You awoke with a start and you scattered your stationary across the floor in the process. You could hear the whole hall snickering at your blunder; save for the few kids sitting around you that helped you pick up your stray pens.
What was the question even? That was the most urgent question for you to answer. You shot a hard look at Sungjin, one that said, “How dare you call me when I’m in this state because of YOU.”
You were sure that he understood your gaze, but he merely raised an eyebrow, as he always did. It was the one that you recognised as “Go on, I’m waiting for your answer.” You knew that there was no way out of this except to answer his question. Panicking, you stared at the last word you wrote in your notebook before rattling off.
“The most famous poem from the Old English period, widely recognised by most is Beowulf. And for – ”
“Oh Ms Y/N, I didn’t know that Scandinavians spoke Old English in the late 10th century. Clearly, someone needs to keep her eyes and ears open. Also, I asked for your opinion, not of those from the 10th century.”
From beneath his long locks, Sungjin gave you a mischievous glint and smirked at you as the entire hall erupted into raucous laughter. Everyone was laughing, except you. Everyone found this funny, except you. Everyone was in a good mood, but you were livid.
How.fucking.dare.you.Park.fucking.Sungjin. I’m suffering in class now because of all your stupid “extra exposure” work after school. Yet you purposely picked on me to answer your question, knowing full well that I can’t. Why do you like picking on me so much? Why do you like embarrassing me in class so much? WHY PARK SUNGJIN!!!
You might have felt better if you actually said it out loud, but you didn’t. You just kept repeating this thought to yourself like a mantra until the end of the lesson.
It’s ok Y/N, just another 30mins of sitting in this hall and looking at his face. Afterwards you can leave and get yourself some ice cream to make yourself feel better. Yes, that’s right… everything is going to be ok Y/N...
But that day, things were not ok and you left the hall in a foul mood. For the final project of the year, you were paired up with Song Jihyo, the girl in class that was notorious for not doing her work.
Its official, Park Sungjin hates me and wants me to burn in Hell. That day, your whole body ached at the thought of more late nights and instead of eating your ice cream, you remembered hurling it at an innocent, nearby tree.
-
Everything that you thought would happen did happen. It’s as the saying goes, “Everything that can go wrong will go wrong.” And in this case, you were helpless against its happening. The only time that you talked to Jihyo was deciding on the thesis and after that, she was virtually uncontactable. You eventually gave up trying to arrange a time to meet to do up the thesis; you merely assigned her parts – which, to be fair, she did do. But they were of such poor quality you ended up deleting most of it and redoing it yourself. But no matter how hard you tried, nothing seemed fresh and you decided to bite the bullet and ask for help.
Lucky for you, Mr Kim was in class today and you immediately ran to him for help.
“Good morning Mr Kim. I have some questions about the final project thesis, is it alright if I ask a few questions?”
“Ah Y/N aren’t you? I’ve heard so much about you from Sungjin! I’ll be glad to help, let me take a look.”
Eagerly, you showed him what you had done so far and when he smiled, you felt a small smile creep onto your face, silently happy that you had gained his approval. But soon, the smile was wiped off your face.
“First of all, an excellent thesis choice, I must say. I remember Sungjin doing something similar for my class 3 years ago, why don’t you ask him for help? He is in a better position to help than I am.”
“Yes sir, I’ll ask Sung- I mean, Mr Park. Yes, I’ll ask Mr Park for advice. Thank you.”
With a light pat on your shoulder, he left you alone and when you turned, you found Park Sungjin standing right in front of you.
“I heard you need help?”
“Yes...” You hated it; you hated having to admit that you needed help from Park Sungjin.
“Hand it over.”
Reluctantly, you passed him your phone and turned to the side, not wanting to see his face further.
When he finally passed back the phone to you, you didn’t feel any more enlightened.
“You can do better than this.”
“What do you mean? That isn’t helpful!”
“That’s all I have to say. You know what to do, so do it.”
“I don’t! I don’t know what to do, which is why I’m asking for help!”
“Then sit down and figure it out.”
So that’s how it’s going to be – you won’t give me a consultation when I need it the most. Fine.
But that was not what you said. You said this instead, “Ok, I’ll figure it out.”
From then onwards, without help from anyone, you trudged through the group thesis yourself. This was on top of the individual thesis that each of you had to prepare for. You were literally typing so much (or rather, punching) your keyboard so hard that one of the keys fell out and you had to send your laptop for repairs. Not only was school draining your sanity, it was also draining your money. Due to the delay in repairing your laptop, you were left with a week to finish half of your thesis.
The outcome: later nights and heavier eye bags. By now, you were too tired to curse and swear at Sungjin for the terrible grouping since it was already taking insane willpower from you to even show up in class. You merely bottled up your indignation, and kept working to avoid thinking about it. After placing the stack of papers in Sungjin’s letter tray, you went back to your dorm and crashed for 12 hours straight.
This signalled the start of your 1 week break, and one week of not seeing Park Sungjin.
Thank goodness.
-
The next time you saw Park Sungjin, you were glad that it was the last time that you would have to see him. After all the torture he had put you through for the past semester, you were glad that you’ll be done with him now.
Yet, as always, Park Sungjin manages to make your life a living hell till the end.
Group Thesis: C
Individual Thesis: E
Overall: D
Comments for Individual Thesis: Clear presentation of key ideas and mostly factually correct. Choice of thesis could be better.
Signed: Park Sungjin
Choice of thesis could be better. Park Sungjin failed me, just because he didn’t like my topic.
You were brought out from your shock by a large shove from behind. Whipping around, you found a smiley Jihyo in front of you and her next words made you want to punch her in her perfect little teeth.
“Thank you for helping me pass the class Y/N! How much did you get?”
Without your consent, she ripped your papers from your hands before handing them back to you with a frown.
“That’s odd; we had the same choice of individual thesis, why did you do worse?” But Jihyo had no time to contemplate on the answer to her question when she was dragged away by her friends to celebrate their good grades.
I can tolerate everything that Park Sungjin has put me through, but not this.
Running up to Sungjin, you stopped him from leaving before asking to see him.
“Do you have time now?”
“Yes. What is this about?”
“This is about my thesis, can we talk somewhere else?”
“Conference Room 2 of the Social Sciences building in 10 minutes, I need to talk to Mr Kim first.”
“Ok.”
You were going to clear this once and for all.
-
“So, what is it about your thesis, Y/N?”
“You failed me just because you didn’t like my topic, didn’t you?”
You’ve rehearsed this part many times in your head and this wasn’t how it was supposed to sound like. It was supposed to sound polite and less accusatory, but fuck that. You wanted answers, and if you had to demand it from him, you will.
“Yes, I did. What’s the issue with it?”
“It’s not fair.”
“Nothing is fair in this world Y/N; I thought you’d know that by now.”
“Yes, I do know that. But what you’re doing is not only unfair, but also downright discriminatory.”
“How so?”
“Jihyo told me that we both had the same choice of thesis, and I got and E and she got a B. My grades are clearly a personal attack against my character. You never liked me from the start, I get it. But it’s wrong to simply disregard my entire thesis because you didn’t like the topic! What is wrong with this topic? It’s within the list of topics that you’ve given us, I met the word count, I met deadlines. I did everything!”
“And I’m supposed to give you a A for that?”
"I’m not saying you have to give me an A for it. I'm just trying to prove the fact that – " "A fact is already a fact, you don't have to prove it." "God damn it Sungjin! Would you just lay off me for a second? Would it kill for you to not correct my grammar for once? Would it kill you to not pick on me for one second?" "It's Mr Park, for you. It still is. And no, I won't lay off your grammar – you are an English language major that has taken my class, there is no way that I'm allowing you to continue to speak with bad grammar." "I hate you." "That can technically count as swearing at a teacher. Are you testing my patience?" "No. I'm just saying that it's not fair for you to give me a bad grade just because you did not like my choice of thesis. That's just being biased." "I'm not changing your grade." "I can't fail this module Sungjin! I need to pass this module to go for the Advanced English module. Yes, it's not a perfect thesis but I don't deserve to fail for this!" "Welcome to the real world Y/N." "I hate you Sungjin. I really fucking do." You pick up your bag and slam the door on your way out. That night, for the first time, you cried. And you hated the fact that you were crying over stupid Park Sungjin.
-
The next day, you awoke with puffy eyes but nonetheless, you showed up for lessons. You nearly bumped into Sungjin on your way to Psychology but you immediately detoured. You couldn’t get close to him – you might just punch him and be charged for assaulting a teacher.
That evening, you had just ended lessons when your phone buzzed and Sungjin’s name lit up on your screen.
Mr Park: You have another chance to redo your thesis and not fail the class. Deadline is January 20th, 2 weeks from now. Papers in my tray at 6pm sharp; don’t be late for the submission.
You swiped his notification away quickly, but you remembered the words and that night, you began sourcing for more ideas for your individual thesis.
For the next 3 days, Sungjin just wouldn’t leave you alone. Your phone buzzed with his name every now and then, and he was so distracting that you nearly wanted to block his number.
Mr Park: Are you going to resubmit your thesis?
Mr Park: Have you chosen a thesis yet?
Mr Park: What is your choice of thesis? How many words in?
Mr Park: Do you need help? Just drop me a message; I can help you check your thesis.
Help me with my thesis? Is he playing saint now? As if I’m going to accept help from him.
As you turned your attention back to your screen, you found that a shadow has fallen in front of your laptop. You found yourself staring at a pair of familiar, battered, black Converse and looking up only confirmed your suspicions. The man was here in person – Park Sungjin.
“Why aren’t you replying my messages?”
Why must I hold myself accountable to you? Buzz off.
You continued typing, completely ignoring Sungjin. You heard him sigh before inviting himself to sit in front of you.
“Y/N, what is your thesis? Hey, answer me. I came all the way down here to find you.”
“You came here voluntarily, I didn’t ask for your help. You can leave.”
“You’re still angry at me?”
Of course I am, you asshole. You’re just asking the obvious.
With each thought, you punched the keys on your keyboard harder.
“Stop typing so hard, you’ll spoil your keyboard. Working in spite is not going to produce quality work Y/N.”
Without your consent, he lifted your laptop into the air and onto his lap and scrolled through your entire document for 15 minutes. Passing it back to you with a smile, you stared at him in shock for 5 minutes.
Park Sungjin never smiles; did he just smile at me?
“You did it.”
“What did I do?”
“You figured it out. This was the choice of thesis I wanted you to choose in the very first place. Furthermore, you’ve chosen the correct area to focus on.”
“Thank you… I thought…”
“What did you think about?”
“I thought I might not be on the right track. But your words makes me feel a little more reassured now.”
“Well, I’ll leave you alone now.”
Park Sungjin then took his leave, but he was lying when he said he’ll leave you alone. He never did. Till the submission deadline, he visited you every alternate day.
As expected, you got an A for your individual thesis.
-
When you got an email from Mr Kim saying that he wanted to meet you, you thought you were doomed; most likely a disciplinary case on your head after what you said to Sungjin. But turns out, it was an interview for the Advanced English course, and they passed you immediately. When you walked out of the room still stunned that that you had entered the course of your choice, you found Sungjin waiting outside for you, almost like he knew you were going to be there.
“They passed you didn’t they?”
“Huh?”
Hearing his voice reminded you of what Mr.Kim said to you just now:
“We’ve received high commendations of you, Ms Y/N. All the professors pushed for your recommendation into the course, and Sungjin, especially. He was the first one to mention offering you a place in the course. He spoke of your remarkable working attitude.”
“May I ask something?”
“Yes, anything at all.”
“What exactly did Mr Park say about me?”
“He mentioned that you work well even under immense stress and long hours, catching up really fast even if you fell behind. But, most importantly, he spoke of your willingness to try again after failure. That is the most important quality that we are looking out for: tenacity. We have no doubt that you’ll be a suitable candidate to enter this demanding course. We would love to offer you a place, should you choose to accept.”
“I would love to, thank you. Thank you to the faculty and professors for having me.”
Sungjin hates me, why would be recommend me for the course?
“Follow me.”
Taking him by the wrist, you dragged Sungjin all the way to the bridge in the school park before letting him go.
“What’s with the rush, Y/N?”
Hands on your hips, you turned to face Sungjin with wide eyes, your lips set firmly in a thin line.
“I don’t understand you Sungjin. First, you torture me in lessons by making me so many extra work and now you’re putting in good words for me and recommending me for my dream course? Did you suddenly decide that you like me more now overnight?”
“Ah, so they told you everything I said. Mr Kim promised to not tell, I should have known he wouldn’t keep to it.”
“You’re still not answering my questions.”
“I’m getting there. First of all, that extra work was not torture, they were a test. I loaded you with many things to see how much you can handle before you snapped but thankfully and luckily for me, you never did.”
“I did silently curse and swear at you.”
“That is a given. But you didn’t say it out loud, so it doesn’t count. You’ve proven to – ”
“To be able to work well under immense pressure and long hours.”
“Yes. That is an important quality for taking any Advanced courses. I took the same course with the same professors that you’ll be having so I know how intense it was. I had to put you under pressure to see if my bet was correct.”
“I was your bet?”
“Yes, I was betting on you all along. You have great potential.”
“Thank you.”
“Oh? I thought someone hated me before.”
“Like you said, that was before. I don’t anymore. What you put me through was tough, but they did teach me more about myself and my limits. So, thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Now that I’ve managed to help you get a place in your course, I think it’s time to return the favour?”
“What’s your proposal?”
“Come to my graduation ceremony next spring. It’s in April.”
“Ok. That’s all?”
“That’s all for now.”
But when a soft smile lights up Sungjin’s face, you knew there was more in store for the both of you in time to come.
-
April 20th
You had come early to get front row seats and as you watch Sungjin give a speech representing the graduating batch, your heart swells with pride. You’ve seen him work very hard for the past one semester and to see him being handed his graduation certificate made you feel like all his efforts paid off.
You were the last to greet Sungjin because there was simply too many people crowding around him. You watch from afar and you giggle when you see Sungjin frantically asking Kang Younghyun if he’s seen you around. He does this thing where his eyes grow big like saucers, so big that you thought they were going to pop out of their sockets. You could also hear the fear in his voice – he speaks a little faster and slips into the Busan dialect. So when you greet him by gently tapping him on the shoulder, he whips around so fast the wind nearly knocked you over. But when you see his facial expression melt from one of worry into one of happiness, you nearly melt into a puddle there and then. You’d given anything to see those sparkly eyes and sweet smile.
“Ah finally you’re here Y/N! I saw you in the front row just now but then afterwards I didn’t so I was worried that you left but I haven’t got a photo with you yet. I was so sad  because I haven’t asked you my question yet – ”
“Calm down Sungjin! I’m here now right? Also, happy graduation! I got this for you.”
Proudly, you hold up the bear plushie you had custom made for him, decked out in the exact same graduation gown that he had on right now.
“It looks like you, right? I named him Bang!”
“Why Bang?”
“Because you always say goodbye in a very cute manner and Bang seems like a cute name to capture that cuteness. Also, I gave him eyelashes! When you observe the details, he really looks like you right?”
When Sungjin finally notices the eyelashes, he bursts out laughing and you swore your heart nearly stopped. When he finally stopped laughing and took over the bear from you, he finally remembered the question he wanted to ask you.
“Y/N- ah…”
“Yes?”
“If I ask you out…will you say yes?”
Just to tease him a little, you decided to look up at the sky, and contemplate your answer for a little while.
“I don’t know…maybe?”
“You can’t do this to me! I waited so long to ask you this question!”
“Why did you wait so long then?”
“I had to wait till I graduated. It wouldn’t be right for a teacher to ask his student out right?”
“That’s true…but I still don’t know if I’d go out with you. How about we make a bet?”
“With what?”
“With a coin. You flip a coin and I’ll decide. Which side are you confident of getting?”
“Heads, I always flip a head.”
“Ok, go ahead then. Heads for I’ll go out with Park Sungjin and tails for…”
With utmost concentration, Sungjin flips the coin and slams his palm over it when it lands. Opening his palm, his face immediately becomes crestfallen: staring back at him was a tail.
But you haven’t finished your sentence yet.
“Tails for…I’ll still go out with you anyways!” you said, as you gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
“Really? You would?”
“Ask any more questions and I’ll reconsider.”
“Ok, ok I won’t ask any more questions! What do you want to eat?”
“Fried chicken!”
“Oh, I was betting that you’ll say fried chicken!”
“Betting on fried chicken is great Park Sungjin, but I'm betting on something else now.”
Sungjin turns to look at you and he says, "So, what are you betting on now?"
"I'm betting that you'll give me a kiss."
"Really? How are you so sure?"
"I know you Park Sungjin, I know you'll do it. So, am I getting a kiss or not?"
Without another word, Sungjin closes the space between the both of you, so close that if either moved, your lips would touch. You closed your eyes and waited for the impact, but instead you felt something soft press into your forehead and you immediately smiled.
"Not where I was expecting, but ok Sungjin."
"I'm saving the best for the last."
"I'm holding you accountable for that statement."
"You can bet your life on it that I'll fulfill it."
Not only was he your best bet, he was your favourite bet too.

a/n: hii so its my first( and probably the last) time writing something in english or in general so i have no idea how this will turn out anyways so im sorry for this in advance
summary: in which y/n keeps losing her highlighters and someone unexpected finds them
word count: 2.5k
genre: fluff (at a cringy level)
warnings: umm idk low self-esteem? and its kinda rushed im so sorry for that
Tumblr media
I rummaged through my pencil case for the umpteenth time, still not being able to find my pen.
“You’ve got to be kidding me…For god’s sake this the fourth time this week and it isn’t even Friday. I’m going to be broke because of this.”
After my sudden outburst, Heejin lifted her head up from the book she was reading and looked at me. When she saw the pencil case in my hand, she realized what my problem was and started laughing, almost wheezing.
"I'm serious Heejin. My parents are angry at me for spending too much money this month. I don't understand how I seem to lose every pen I've bought. I mean there has to be some logical explanation for this."
She continued laughing, wiping an imaginary tear from her eye and said, “There’s nothing to explain Y/N. It’s just your irresponsibility showing.”
I glared at her and huffed, “This isn’t funny okay!? By the way, I'm not irresponsible; I'm a perfect student."
She gave me look saying she didn’t agree with me but didn’t make a comment. The bell rang, signaling that the class was about to begin so we got off the table and headed to our classes.
Right when I got into the classroom, I was greeted with the sight of Na Jaemin. I began to feel the blood rushing into my cheeks and tried to hide my face by looking down. It has been months since the school started yet I still can't get used to being in the same class as him. One time, I was distributing exam papers, and I began stuttering because he thanked me.
I could feel that I was standing for too long, so I immediately looked around for a seat and just to my luck it was right in front of Jeno and Jaemin. I started cursing to myself under my breath and began to walk towards them. They abruptly stopped their conversation and looked at me when I got closer, just like it has been for the last two months. Whenever I walk or sit next to them, they stop what they're doing and go silent. Heejin told me that it could be because of him having a crush on me, but I shut her down by saying that there were many popular and beautiful girls out there, so why would it be me out of all the people?
Feeling awkward and flustered, I sat down and wished for the class to begin and save me from this situation.
The class went on with me trying to keep my eyes open every 5 minutes and finally ended. I quickly gathered my stuff and exited the room, hurrying to my locker. I opened the locker and began to fill my bag with the books I needed to study from, for tonight. Just as I was about to close the locker, I saw a piece of paper and grabbed it, thinking that it was important. After that, I made my way over to the buses and went home.
Once I got home, after having dinner, I started studying. Half an hour into studying, I got bored and looked around. Suddenly I remembered the paper and began to search my bag, thinking that it had the homework on it. I took the folded paper and opened it.
Bet you’re wondering about your pens. But don’t worry; you don’t have to buy new ones anymore. Tomorrow after lunch, check your locker cutie.
- Your secret admirer
I scowled, thinking that this was a joke from Heejin, and threw the paper into the bin.
“Why am I friends with you?” I thought to myself.
Next morning as soon as I saw Heejin, I told her about the note. I showed her the note, and she said she didn't know what the note was about and that she didn't write it.
“Are you serious? Who else knows about ‘my little issue’ other than you? It has to be you.”
“Well sorry to disappoint but it wasn’t me, so I don't know who wrote it.”
“Someone is pranking me for a reason I don’t even know why. I mean I don’t even talk to anyone other than you.”
“Hun, why are making assumptions? Maybe they like you, but they’re scared of rejection."
I frowned, “Oh come on, I doubt anyone knows who I am. Nothing is interesting about me.”
“Oh don’t be ridiculous; everyone would like you. Have you seen yourself? With those chubby cheeks,” she pinched my cheeks and said, “ even the world’s most cruel man would melt because of you.”
I began blushing, and my frown turned upside. "Okay but kidding aside, who could've written that note?"
“Maybe you can wait during lunch to see the person?”
I nodded thoughtfully and went to my locker.
The day went on pretty fast, and lunchtime came. Just as I was about to leave the class, curious to see the mystery person, my teacher stopped me.
“Miss Y/L/N, where are you going? Did you forget that you are supposed to take the quiz you missed last week?”
My eyes widened, and I froze.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
“Oh right. I’m sorry Mrs. Kim, I forgot that for a moment.” She laughed at me, and I could only smile painfully.
Well, there goes my plan.
“Well, what happened? Did you see who it was?”
“Ugh, no. My stupid ass forgot that I had to take a quiz today.”
Heejin started laughing at me and said, “Don’t worry. I mean it’s not that important anyway. It’s just a paper. Now let’s go, we have to get our books. or else we’ll be late to class.”
I nodded sadly and we went to our lockers. When I opened the locker, I saw a pink highlighter and a note.
You’re so cute when you’re confused you know. Trying to find who I am ha~ I'm sorry, but I can't reveal who I am yet. For now, you have to settle with the highlighters. Expect to see more of these. Have a good day cutie.
-Your secret admirer
I felt myself blushing and quickly looked around to see if anyone was around but saw no one. I grabbed the highlighter and smiled. Heejin saw this and began to make fun of me.
I hit her on the head and said, “Oh shush, we’re going to be late so come on.”
A few days have passed and every day I got a new note and a highlighter. I was beginning to develop feelings towards my admirer, so I started to forget about my crush on Jaemin and became more comfortable around him. I no longer stuttered while talking to him. (Like thanking and congratulating. It’s not like we’re close; we don’t talk a lot.)
Next week on Tuesday, I received a different note.
I've returned every pen I've taken from you, so this is my last note to you cutie. Check your desk.
- Your secret admirer
Feeling hopeful, I hurriedly closed my locker and went to the classroom. But to my luck, no one was in there Feeling a little sad I walked over to my desk and saw a bag. But my sadness immediately faded away when I opened the bag. Inside the box, there was a box filled with cookies. Smiling, I took the box and saw a post-it on it.
Here are some cookies for you my love. You’re getting curious than ever, aren't you? Well, you're getting closer to finding out who I am. Meet me at the gym tomorrow at 1 pm. Have a good day and enjoy eating the cookies beautiful!
-Your secret admirer
I smiled widely and began eating the cookies.
Who are you?
Tomorrow came, and I couldn't be more anxious. I spent the all of the morning worrying.
What if this is a joke? What if they don’t really like me? Should I not go? But what if it’s true?
I couldn’t stop thinking so I didn’t pay attention to any of the classes. Having enough of me dozing off, Heejin kicked me from my back.
“Ouch!” I whisper-yelled.
“What was that for?”
“Stop thinking about irrelevant things and concentrate on what the teachers are saying. You’re going to end up wanting my notes and I’m not going to help you. Don’t cry to me when you fail exams!”
I looked at her with angry eyes but turned to the board since she was right.
Finally,I thought when the lesson ended. I got up from my seat and looked at Heejin.
“You can do this y/n, there’s no point in worrying because everything will be fine. Trust me.”
“But what i- ”
“No buts! I’m going to go to the cafeteria, and you're going to go to the gym. That's it. I'll be in the laboratory, waiting for you after lunch.”
I looked at her wearily, but she only winked at me and left. I quickly went to the bathroom to make myself look presentable and headed to the gym.
Here we go.
When I got to the gym, I immediately searched around for my admirer. However, I couldn't see anyone.
Maybe they’re late, so I should sit and wait.
I went to the bleachers and sat there. But I still couldn’t relax because of the little voice in my head. I began to feel like crying after 10 minutes and got up to leave. Clearly, no one was coming.
What did you even expect you loser? Did you really think this was real?
Just as I was leaving, I heard a voice, shouting my name.
“Y/N!”
I turned around and saw Jaemin. I was shocked as to why he was panting and talking to me.
“Yes? Are you okay? You look like you’ve been running miles.” I said with a little chuckle.
He crouched, trying to catch his breath and tried to say something but couldn’t do it because of his heavy breathing.
"Okay, maybe you should sit and wait for a moment. Come with me.”
I grabbed his arm lead him into the bleachers. After a few seconds, he finally managed to calm down.
“So what’s the matter? And why are you looking for me?”
“I’m so sorry y/n, I was going to come straight here, but the professor didn't let us leave."
I looked at him confused and tried to understand what he was getting at.
“Umm, okay but what does that have to do with me?”
He looked at me funnily and said,
“I thought I told you to meet me here. I thought you read it.”
I sat there looking at him confused and then it hit me.
Na Jaemin, the person I was crushing on since the start of high school, was my admirer.
“Y/n? Did you hear me?”
I was staring at him blankly and trying to convince myself that this was not real. Suddenly I felt someone shaking me and I turned back to reality. Jaemin was staring at me, worry written all over his face. After looking at his face a bit more, I finally opened my mouth.
“You...Note…It was you?” It came out more like a question.
“I’m sorry,” He looked down and,
“, if you were waiting for it to be a different person. I understand if you don't feel the same and I'm sorry for stealing your highlighters."
At the sound of my highlighters, I suddenly turned back to life.
“Wha- How did you even steal them? How did you get the idea anyway?”
"It was Chenle’s idea.”
My ear perked up at the mention of the mischievous junior.
Why am I not surprised?
“But clearly, didn't work. I'm sorry for wasting your time. I'll just go."
He suddenly got up, and I panicked. I got up and took his arm, turning him around.
“Wait you little shit, where do you think you’re going after stealing my precious highlighters?”
“I’m leaving since you don’t return my feelings.” With that, he continued walking.
"Who said I don't like you?" I said a bit loudly. He stopped in his tracks and stayed there like he was glued. Without turning to me, he asked,
“Are you…by chance saying that you like me?”
“Are you kidding me? I have been crushing on you for years. I’m not going to just let you slip through my fingers while I have the chance.”
He turned to me shocked, and suddenly his face broke into a broad smile. He started running towards me and lifted me.
"WOAH!" He twirled us around, and I began to feel dizzy from the whole turning.
“JAEMIN PLEASE STOP I’M HUNGRY AND CLOSE TO THROWING UP!”
He stopped turning and put me onto the ground.
"Sorry, I'm just delighted"
"Yeah, I can see that." I said while trying to collect myself and looked at him. He was staring at me with that big smile of his, and suddenly I felt something on my lips.
He was kissing me. Jaemin was kissing me. And I was standing frozen.
He pulled away and looked at me then grabbed my cheeks and squeezed them tightly.
"You're so cute I can't believe you're mine!”
I stood there my mouth agape, still trying to comprehend the situation.
“Let’s go I’ll buy you something to eat since we’ve been here for 15 minutes now.”
He grabbed my hand and took me to the cafeteria. We sat next to a window and ate silently. However, I was aware that he was staring at me every 10 seconds which made it harder to swallow the food.
“You know, I’m still kind of pissed that you stole my pens.”
“Are you serious? We started dating and that’s all you can think about?”
“Who said we were dating?”
He stopped eating and looked at me crushed.
“What do you me- ”
“I’m kidding Jaemin you can relax but still, do you know how much those coasted me? I had to buy new ones every week.”
"I'm sorry, but it got us together in the end huh?"
“Yeah but you still have to make up for them.”
He suddenly took his wallet out. But I stopped him.
“By taking me out to a proper date.”
He smiled at me and leaned across the table and then cupped my face between his hands. He looked into my eyes deeply and leaned in for a short yet sweet kiss. Just as the kiss began, I heard the voice of my best friend.
“OH MY GOD Y/N WHAT THE HECK?”
I stared at her startled and then looked at Jaemin apologetically.
“Meet me at the end of the school in front of my locker okay?”
He nodded and hugged me and then left.
I looked after him smiling lightly but jumped when a hand hit my arm. I turned to Heejin in surprise.
“You got some explaining to do honey.”
a/n: yOOO this was shit im so sorry

The Little Things - Part 3
Summary: When Gaston asks for your help, you are not happy about it. Because he is an idiot and you are invisible to him. But sooner or later you realize that maybe he isn’t that bad. (Gaston x reader)
Warnings: bullying (not much, but it is there)
Words: 3024
Author note: This started as an idea for a scene in this and turned out in a 10000+ words thing. Well…it just happened.
Highschool!AU and some of the Beauty and the Beast characters have an appearance.
A word about the reader: I tried to keep it as general as possible. At some point I needed details, so if something is not fitting for you, I’m sorry and ask you to change it in your mind.
Feedback is always welcome!
English isn’t my first language and I have no beta at the moment, so please excuse mistakes.
Part 1
Part 2
The worst part was not the horrible, horrible headache the next day or the fact that you could remember everything and you called Belle to ask her, if that really had happened or if it was just a bad dream. No, the worst part was going back to school at Monday. Because everyone else could remember too.
There was a lot of whispering and gossiping, some guys whistled after you or started to sing the song, dancing next to you and laughing, when you entered the school and walked to your locker.
“Can’t you be dumb somewhere else?!”, Belle hissed at them and they disappeared with a laugh.
“This is a nightmare.”, you said and leaned against your locker.
“I know, sweetie. I know. But the prom is going to be soon or there will be another scandal. They will forget it really soon, you will see.”
She hugged you and you felt a bit better.
“Come on, we have to go to class.”
You grabbed your back and walked with Belle to your room. The moment you two entered it, everyone looked at you and started to whisper or talk, some made jokes and laughed at you.
“Oh look, the slut is here! All hail the slut queen!”, one of the Bimbettes screamed and laughed.
In that second, Gaston entered the class room too. He looked at them and at you. You never felt more ashamed and horrible. You tried to fight back the tears while you walked to your desk.
“We can go…”, Belle suggested, but you shook your head and sat down.
“You know what they say. The silent ones are the biggest sluts!”, one of the other Bimbettes shouted and you felt the tears on your cheeks.
“I think, there even is a video, so just in case someone wants to see the performance from our beloved class slut…”, Bimbette 2 said and laughed about her own words.
Before someone could stop you, you grabbed your bag and stormed out of the room.
You went to the library and stayed there the whole day. Belle would excuse you and she would give you the stuff you would miss.
It was already pretty late, when your phone started to buzz like crazy. You stopped reading and picked it up. Belle had sent you several messages.
“Where are you???????”
“WHERE ARE YOU?????”
“We need to talk!”
“ASAP!!!!!”
“(Y/N)!!!!! IM NOT JOKING!”
“PICK UP YOUR PHONE!”
“SOS”
Confused, you looked at your phone. Another message appeared.
“Need to meet! ASAP!!!!!”
You wrote back: “Library. What happened?”
“On my way. You’re not going to believe what just happened.”, Belle answered and you put your phone bag in your pocket.
“No phones!”, the librarian reminded you.
You smiled apologetically, took your bag and walked outside. While you waited, you wondered, what just happened. Class was already over and there was only a big soccer match and Belle had promised to go there with Adam, but you didn’t mind and wanted to wait in the library. But obviously something had happened.
“You bitch!”
Out of the nowhere the Bimbettes appeared and one of them tried to slap you, but at the same moment Belle and Adam appeared and Adam grabbed her, holding her back.
“What did you do?! Did you bewitched him or something! You slut! You destroyed everything! Everything! Go to hell!”, the Bimbette screamed.
“That’s enough!”, Adam tried to stop, still holding her back.
“Oh go to hell too, Prince! You and your little loser friends are all horrible! I knew, it was a bad idea when he started to pay attention to you! But you!”, she screamed and suddenly pointed at you. “You destroyed everything! But you know what?! Fine! You can have him! I don’t want such a loser and idiot! He is a loser, just like you!”
With that, she pushed Adam away and stormed off, her sisters behind her.
You looked after her.
“What…the fuck…just happened?”, you asked confused and looked at Belle.
“Something happened.”
“Obviously.”
“Gaston fought with Tom and Dick.”
You looked at Belle and tried to understand the words she just said.
“He…what?”
“He fought with Tom and Dick. Punched them and stuff.”
“Why?!”
“Because of you.”
“Me?”
“You.”, Belle said and Adam nodded.
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“Look, we don’t know much. All we know is, that Gaston and Tom and Dick had a pretty loud argument and then they started to fight. And everyone was there, because they were fighting on the field. In front of everyone. And after the teachers separated them, Gaston told everyone everything.”
“What is everything?”
“Just everything. That he is hanging out with you and how awesome you are and pretty and nice and that he is smart and likes all the stuff you like and…everything. And he told the idiots and the Bimbettes what he really thinks about them. It was glorious. I’m sure he had a meltdown, but it was amazing! You should have seen it! And he talked about you in such a sweet way!”
You could just look at Belle, because you completely forget how to form words. Adam only nodded.
“He…said all this in front of everyone?”
“Yeah.”
“You should go to him.”, Adam added and you looked at him. “He was hurt and because of his behaviour the trainer took him out of the team. All the talent scouts were here today. He was supposed to play in front of them…”
Before Adam could finish his sentence, you started to run.
“The hospital room!”, Belle screamed and you waved at her.
When you bursted into the room, Lefou and Stanley were there too and Gaston was sitting at one of the beds. He looked horrible.
“(Y/N)?! What are you doing here?”
“I think, we should go.”, LeFou mumbled and nodded to Gaston, walking to the door. “You’re coming, Stanley?”
“Why? I thought, we stay here and…”
“Now, Stanley!”, Lefou said empathically and Stanley quickly followed him outside.
“What happened?”, you asked and sat down at the bed.
“Oh, um…huge fight. I did pretty well. Just a typical, manly thing and…”
“Belle told me, what you did.”
“Oh.”
Gaston looked down at his hands, you looked at him. He had several bruises and one of his eyes looked swollen. There was also a laceration at his head.
“Are you seriously injured?”, you asked concerned and Gaston looked up.
“No. It’s alright.”
“You don’t look alright. Where is the nurse?”
“Making a call. I’m fine, really.”, he tried to smile but one of his cheeks was swollen, so it looked a bit skew.
“Why did you do this, Gaston? The talent scouts were there! You probably lost the chance to get the scholarship!”
“I don’t care.”
“And what about your reputation? Why did you fight with them? And told everyone?”
Gaston was silent for a while, looking out of the window.
“You remember, when you asked me about my reputation? Why it’s so important to me?”
“Yeah.”
“My parents have…think that success is pretty important. And to be successful, you need a reputation. You don’t get anything when you are nice. That’s basically, what they have told me. So…I did, what my parents had told me. I started to get a reputation. I joined the soccer team, I bought my friends. I did everything to be cool and popular. And it worked. In the beginning, I hated it, because it felt wrong, but I had power and power felt nice, so…I became the superstar…and a jerk. I tried to be a real man and made sure, people were talking about me. You probably heard about the rumour that I have a new girl every week. Yeah…things like that were good. And then you walked into this school and you are nice and sweet and not a loser and you get stuff done and you are nice at the same time. And my parents didn’t notice me, at all. Most of time it’s like, I’m not existing. So, I had the idea with the scholarship. Because getting a scholarship is incredible, right?! And I asked my parents to come to my game today, so they could see all the talent scouts who want me and I thought they would be proud of me. They are not here, because when I told them, they were confused, why I was thinking about college because they forgot, I graduate this year. So, they decided, they need a vacation and don’t come to my game. So…yeah. That’s why, my reputation was so important to me. And I realized, that I was a completely idiot, because my parents still don’t notice me and I have no friends and I’m a horrible person. And I fought with Tom and Dick, because Tom had a video of your dance and wanted to upload it to Youtube, to humiliate you and I told him to not do it and delete it. He said no and I…punched him. And my parents were also the reason I didn’t want you at my house.”
There was silence, after Gaston finished.
“You punched him, because of me?”
“Yes.”
“But…why?! I mean, why do you care, if I get humiliated or not?”
“Because I care about you.”
Gaston looked into your eyes.
“Because you are a kind, funny, good person and you don’t deserve this. Because…”, he stopped and took a deep sigh. “…there is…I mean…I maybe…probably…love you.”
Dumbstruck, you looked at him and tried to understand his words.
“You…what? Gaston, that’s crazy.”
“No, it’s not. It’s what I feel and…”, he started and reached for your hands.
You stood up and looked at him.
“It is crazy! You never noticed me! I was air to you, almost a year ago! You can’t just…walk into my life, pretend to be a nice guy, do this stuff and tell me, you love me, when you ignored me all these years! And how can you fell in love with me?! You know nothing about me, Gaston!”
“Your favourite colour is red.”
You looked at him startled.
“What?”
“Your favourite colour is red. You like chocolate chip ice cream or strawberry. Strawberries are also your favourite fruit. You love Italian food and a lot of cheese on your pizza. Speaking of, you always eat the crust first. You don’t like Asian food. You love dogs and cats. Your favourite song is ‘Born this Way’ by Lady Gaga. You can’t sing, but you don’t care, because you love to sing. Your favourite movie Forrest Gump and everything from Disney. You love ‘Hakuna Matata’ the most. You love sports. You can dance and you go to ballet since you are 6 years old. You also do swimming and you play badminton. You hate it, when your hands are cold. You love tea, especially in winter. You also love hot chocolate, made with milk and not water. But you don’t like cream on it. Your favourite chocolate it nougat. You have the first edition of the Harry Potter books and you like the smell of old books. You love to read, but you absolutely hate it, when someone uses a book site as dog-ear. You have a nice handwriting, but you tend to scrawl, when you are in a rush. You like dresses a lot, but you don’t wear them to school that much. You play with one of your strands of hair, when you are deep in thoughts or really concentrated, especially when you are reading. You also bite your lip on the left side, whenever something is difficult and you have to think about it. You also frown a bit and you’re curling your nose, when you can’t find the answer and you are frustrated and you smile, when you finally find them. You smile a lot and that smile lights up the world and is the most beautiful one, I have ever seen. You also put your hair in one of these messy buns, whenever you work really hard, because you don’t to get distracted. Your eyes have the colour (Y/Eye colour) and are the most beautiful ones I have ever seen. And your lips are really soft and since you kissed me, I have to think about it all the time and I really want to kiss you again.”
There was silence and Gaston looked at you.
“How…”, you started after some minutes looking at each other. “…how do you know all this about me?”
“Because I noticed you. I always saw you. I noticed every little thing about you.”
Before you could say anything, the nurse entered the room.
“Oh, we have a guest. Could you go outside, for just a second? I have to take a look at our patient.”
You grabbed your bag and basically stormed outside, closing the door behind you and leaning against the wall. It was hard to believe, what Gaston just had told you.
“You are okay?”
You looked down the corridor and LeFou was leaning against one of the walls.
“You are still here?”
“Yeah. I’m going to drive Gaston to the hospital. The lacernation doesn’t look good.”
“Oh. Yeah. That’s…a good idea.”, you said, still confused about what happened.
You felt LeFou looking at you, but avoided his stare.
“He told you.”
It wasn’t a question.
“You knew?”
“Sure. I’m his best friend.”
You laughed.
“Yeah. You are. Of course you know. And he is joking, right?”
“Why should he?”
“Because there is no way, that Gaston is loving me!”
“Did you ever wonder, why he needed help with Literatur?”
“What?”, you asked confused about the sudden topic change.
“The private tutoring. You ever wondered, why he needed help and asked you?”
“He didn’t ask me. Agathe did.”
“And Gaston asked her, if she could ask you for help.”
You said nothing and just looked at LeFou.
“Look, (Y/N), the first morning you walked into that school, Gaston saw you. And I’m pretty sure it was love at first sight. He had always an eye on you. And he stopped a lot of times the girls or Tom and Dick. There is a reason the girls hate you. Because you are pretty and smart and nice and everything they are not and you are competition. At some point, I asked him. He denied it in the beginning, but then admitted it and he wouldn’t stop talking about you. About your eyes and smile and your kindness and all that stuff. So I told him, to find an excuse to spend time with you. And he did. He’s not bad in Literature. He always helped me with my homework.”
“But…he had bad grades in it?!”
“He did that on purpose, so Agathe would help him. And he suggested, you could help him. That’s why she asked you. And he made sure, to get in trouble, so they would think, he may benefit from this. You should have seen him, when he returned from your learning sessions. He talked about you, always! He was like a lovesick puppy.”
You started to feel bad, because you never had noticed something.
“Oh, and…don’t worry about your dance performance. He only had eyes for you. Yes, he thought, you looked and moved hot, but couldn’t even remember the colour of your underwear later. And he could tell me second for second when you smiled or bit your lip or stuff. And he didn’t know Tom and Dick kept their phones and filmed everything. When they told him, he got really angry. By the way: The deleted the video, so, don’t worry. And they look much worse. He also called you ‘his girl’.”
“Why…now? Why not sooner?”
“Because, sometimes, he is an idiot, who tends to make wrong decisions and to have a horrible timing.”
You smiled at LeFou, who smiled too.
“Look, maybe I’m totally wrong here, but…you like him too, do you?!”
Before you could answer, the door opened and Gaston walked out. He stopped, when he saw his best friend and you.
“And you are going to the hospital with him?”, the nurse asked LeFou and he nodded. “Good. Get well!”, she said and went into her room again, closing the door.
“I’ll wait at the car.”, LeFou said and quickly walked away.
Bashful, Gaston stood there and looked at you.
“So…um…if I overstepped any boundaries, I am sorry.”
“You are wrong.”, you started, stepping closer to Gaston and he looked apprehensive at you. “Strawberries are not my favourites. I like them, but peaches are my favourite fruits.”
“Oh.”, Gaston said, realizing how close you were.
You slowly took his hands into yours. He looked down at them and then back at you. You smiled and felt a pleasant warmth in your body, when your hands touched and he looked at you.
“And I thought about the kiss too. And I am sorry, I just kissed you.”
“Don’t be.”
“Alright.”
You cupped his cheek with one of your hands and Gaston leaned into that touch. His eyes really are beautiful, you realized again.
“If you act like a jerk again, I will punch you myself. Also, don’t lie to me every again or make things up, just to spend time with me.”
He smiled.
“Alright. I’m going to behave.”
“And stop fighting with other people. I don’t want to be worried about you getting hurt.”
“I can do this too. Or…not do.”
You two laughed and looked again at each other.
“You still want to kiss me again?”
“Just if this means…”
“Let’s keep it slow and see what happens.”
Gaston nodded and pulled you a bit closer. He moved his lips slowly closer and when you finally kissed, it felt so good. He was sensitive and almost shy, so you deepened the kiss, putting your arms around his neck. You could feel Gaston smiling into the kiss and your heart jumped, making you feel very happy. Because in that moment you realized that you had started to like Gaston a long time ago and you probably, maybe, absolutely had fallen in love with him too. With him and all the little things.

The Battle Against Boredom
My senior year of high school I️ was almost certain that I would not be coming to college. I️ applied where my parents let me but quietly planned my travels ahead. I️t scared the living shit out of my parents when I️ told them. My rational; I️ knew I didn’t have to come to college to be successful, I️t never really made sense to come. How can you sit in a business 101 class with 100 others kids learning the same shit and still be any different. My definition of success was a little different from the average scholar anyways. College in some ways is like a drone creator for big corporations..to make wages cheaper, if you don’t like I️t…get lost they’ll hire the next guy down the pipeline of accountant majors. The trick is study what you’re genuinely passionate about. I️ come from a long lineage of doctors, lawyers, and engineers. When I️ was like 10 years old my mom used to tell me, “you’re gonna work for 3M and invent amazing things,” and in my head I️ always refuted that. But then my parents divorced, and they didn’t have time to control my rebellion. So I️ drank up all the inspiration I️ could. I️ like to think that I️ am some sort of anomaly. A strange blossom of creativity and Art in my family tree. Of course everyone is creative, but it’s like a muscle, if you don’t work it out, it’ll weaken. Anyways, I️ scared the shit out of my parents, they couldn’t bare to have a kid in the family not go to college. What a shame that would be. I’d be a bum! They would constantly tell me. So I️ finally decided to go. I got sold, like a soldier. I️t was convincing, I️ don’t have to pay for it, and I️ can sort of study what I’d like, as long as it’s at a, “highly ranked school.” But then something weird happened. I️ got here with ultimate freedom. And I️ didn’t know what the fuck to do with myself. What do I️ want to study, who do I️ want to hang with? How can I️ possibly pick a major based on a single paragraph summary and some shitty intro classes. Why do I️ even have to pick a major? So many kids that I️ talk to have their lives planned out for them by their parents. I️ sat at lunch one day with 4 of my friends. They said it’s like a right of way for them to become doctors in their families, and they’ve convinced themselves that true passions are merely hobbies. Some of them don’t even have passions or know what they’re passionate about because they’ve spent too much time doing what there’re told. But the benefits are nice for doctors, and they don’t want to let their parents down. This is heavy doc..
These cats are actually convinced at 18 years old that they want to be doctors, to go to school for 12 more years and possibly spend the rest of their lives paying I️t off. I believe there are people who are passionate about medicine, but how can you know so soon? It’s so insane to me. But I️ can’t really blame them, I️ don’t really know what I️ want. I am so used to being told what to think. I️ got sold along time ago, to be a soldier in a war for money and material. But now I’m free from the shackles and my thoughts are scurrying around my brain like a headless chicken. PTSD… maybe not quite as bad. The thought of not going to college was scary for me too, to go the other way you’re told. To jump ship without knowing whats in the water. Society tells us that if we jump ship (college), the water is full with things like zero opportunities, jail, flipping burgers, ending up dead, or just being a bum. Is that really all that there is besides college? If thats whats churning in those murky waters below, walking the plank seems like suicide. But I know it’s not true.  Directions/work life balance/safety/comfort is all we know, it’s our oxygen. So when I️ got here, boy was I lost. I️ still am, a little bit less lost, but still. Maybe its okay to be lost. I️ think that’s why the battle against boredom is real. Thats why Netflix is so popular, what else would we do with our time? How many kids are addicted to video games? Or drugs? Juul? Or the grove? Everyone has their poison. Everyone has their entertainment.  It’s weird how we are always trying to escape reality. Why is reality so bad. The amount of time I️ sit on instagram or Snapchat, its absurd. Then I wonder how the hell did Alexander the Great conquer multiple lands when he was 18?? Or how about Joan of Arc who beat the English forces in the Hundred Years’ War at the tender age of 17. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote his first symphony at age 8…. I’ve had the same amount of time! It’s so crazy to think about. Its crazy to even think about time and how it shapes our existence. Maybe all of these G.O.A.T’s just had really well planning parents. But now that Im forced to think for myself, I️m at a loss for words. Sometimes I️ feel I️’m wasting my time if I️m not doing something productive. What am I️ doing with my life? Why can’t I️ do nothing and be satisfied, why do I️ have to be doing something? Being busy was such a huge part of my upbringing, it kept me dialed in, distracted, entertained. But now I’m lonely, in the sense that I️ am the only one who doesn’t seem to be busy all the time. Does anyone else feel like this? it’s not all that bad. I’ve found amazing ways to spend my time, cycling, rock climbing, scuba diving, gym, writing, surf, etc. But I️ still find hours to have absolutely nothing to do at all. Is that good or bad? And how can I️ harness the power of doing nothing? So that I️t doesn’t drain me and make me feel bored. Sometimes I️t’s amazing to do nothing, but sometimes I️t sucks. That’s why Netflix is so popular, I️t keeps us busy. Maybe free time is something that shouldn’t even exist. Everyone is constantly dialed in. Just on a walk to class, 9 out of 10 kids are dialed in. Us teens all do this, It’s either headphones in or staring down at the phone. If I️ ever forget my headphones before a long car ride or plane ride… I️t sucks. But sometimes I️ meet somebody.
“The gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again.” — Homer, The Iliad. This quote makes me think. A sunset is beautiful, because it will be gone soon. A fleeting moment of natures most incredible hues. Just like a surfer knows he can’t ride the wave forever, so he dances and carves, enjoys it while he can. That is what the gods envy, if these things were infinite they’d lose the energy that surrounds them. Life is beautiful because it will end soon. Maybe I can enjoy a moment of doing nothing at all just because I know that it will end soon.

What 8 successful ADHDers want you to know about how they get stuff done.
Whenever I’m working with my family, friends, or colleagues, they always ask me how I’m able to get so much done.
My answer: “I have ADHD.”
That might sound confusing, but realistically, people with ADHD don’t always have problems with attention at least, not when we’re working on something that excites us. In fact, ADHD often means that we can hyperfocus on awesome things for hours on end, although sometimes that comes at the expense of all the less-thrilling things were supposed to be doing. (Why wash the dishes when you can build a rocket ship out of a cardboard box and a disassembled vacuum cleaner?)
Most people with ADHD have to work 10 times harder to achieve seemingly basic organizational and time management skills skills that other people develop naturally over time. While medication can certainly help, it doesn’t do all the work by itself. As a result, we pay more conscious attention to life hacks, memory tricks, productivity shortcuts and other mental managerial systems … because we have to.

Some say that people with ADHD are much more likely to start their own businesses, perhaps because were built to tackle creative and entrepreneurial challenges.
While other people dont need to learn the same tricks that we do, they can benefit from them. In fact, Id argue that ADHDers have some of the best advice and practices for getting stuff done even if we dont always listen to that advice ourselves.
GIF from “Bruce Almighty.”
Here are 21 productivity tips from people with ADHD that even non-ADHDers can learn from:
1. Habits are things you get for free. So get into ’em.
Even though Im not a natural creature of habit, I always start my day with meds, then a shower, then pants, then breakfast otherwise I know that Im going to forget one of those steps. Habits are essentially self-automation, which means less brainpower spent on the little things.
2. Always have a backup (or two, or three) and know where to find it.
I keep extra cables, chargers, adapters, medicine, and other things in my bag at all times. That way, whether Im going to the grocery store or on vacation, I dont have to worry about keeping my phone charged.
3. Reminders and alerts: love them and use them.
I even have a recurring 2 p.m. notification on my phone that says EAT SOME LUNCH, YOU IDIOT because, erm, I need the reminder more than Id like to admit. (Also: IFTTT triggers to automate actions and sync between apps and accounts make life way easier.)
GIF from “Despicable Me 2.”
4. Keep a calendar, and schedule in the time it takes for you to do things.
If it takes you extra time to keep a calendar or get into the headspace for a meeting? Factor that in when youre planning your day too.
5. Pay attention to the your day’s ups and downs, and use them to your advantage.
Do you get sleepy right after lunch? Then maybe dont dive into that intense project at 1 p.m. Are you better when you answer emails in the morning and get active tasks done later? Then do that. Figure out what works for you, and follow that schedule.
6. Find your rhythm and stick with it.
Even if youre not the slow and steady type, a regular pattern of sprint and rest can still help you reach the finish line. “Sometimes I’ll start counting beats in my head to create a rhythm,” says TV writer/director Hadley Klein. “It sounds crazy but for whatever reason, it helps me think through things in a different way.”
GIF via HIKAKIN/YouTube.
7. Make a list. Check it twice. Then make another list. And another.
Graphic novelist Tyler Page says, I keep one main to-do list on my computer in a Sticky or TextEdit file. Bigger projects get their own lists where they get broken down into smaller and smaller components. The lists also help with prioritizing something that needs to be done right away goes on the daily to-do list.”
GIF from “Monsters University.”
8. Prioritize action over accomplishment. Doing the thing.
This one comes from Patty Carnevale, head of revenue at Man Repeller. Measuring your progress in a tangible way can help you feel even more successful, which will then give you the drive to keep going.
9. Reward yourself for your accomplishments no matter how small.
If you’re someone who needs frequent feedback to get the necessary dopamine boost, then you can fake it by sticking a carrot in front of yourself to keep you going. Alysa Auriemma, an English instructor, gives an example: I can read that awesome online fanfic IF I get three papers graded!
GIF from “Parks and Recreation.”
10. Turn the boring parts into a game.
I use a fitness watch which monitors how many steps I take in a day and how many flights of stairs I climb. Its fun to make the numbers go up, says Nalo Hopkinson, an award-winning author. She also reports her daily word count on Twitter, so that people can cheerlead her along.
11. Don’t dread the boring stuff. Just get it done. It’s faster that way.
Focus on the satisfaction that youre going to feel once youve finished the task, instead of on the time itll take to get it done which, lets be honest, is probably less time than you think. (Of course, even though I know this works for me, it’s still easier said than done.)
12. The more you let things pile up, the easier it gets to ignore them.
Find a way to keep it fresh. Im a compulsive inbox zeroer because the longer that little red notification bubble sits there on my phone, the more inclined I am to ignore it. So I mark all my emails as “read,” then use an IFTTT trigger to remind me later of things that actually require a follow-up or my attention.
GIF from “Community.”
13. If things slip your mind, visual cues can help.
You know that mantra, “Out of sight, out of mind?” For people with ADHD, that’s pretty literal to a fault. So it helps to stick things right in our own faces so that we can’t miss them. When I was in college, I taped a postcard to my apartment door with the times I needed to leave by to make it to morning classes on time, says Rebecca Eisenberg, Upworthys senior editor.
14. Work with your brain, not against it.
Do you tend to lose your keys in the bathroom? Then make a new home for them in the bathroom, where youre already inclined to leave them. That way, theyre always there. Don’t fight your instincts. Use their momentum to your advantage. And on that note
15. Embrace your idiosyncrasies and find a way to make them work for you.
Everyones brain is different. A lot of ADHDers need to figure out on our own what works for us, rather than having someone tell us whats the right way to do things. For example: If someone else leaves me a list of instructions or things to do that’s organized by their mind, it only makes me frustrated and confused. I have to create my own to-do lists in my own way even if it does take more time.
GIF from “Adventure Time.”
16. Take a break. Move around. Do a little dance.
Movement helps your brain work better. As tempting as it is to put the emphasis on measurable actions, its just as important to not do things and give yourself a chance to breathe. Sometimes a little distance can give you a lot of new perspective.
I use a portable adjustable standing desk and a pair of bluetooth headphones so that I can basically dance in place and write at the same time. My wife thinks I’m weird, but it works.
17. Know when to call it a day.
Its important to accept when youve reached the point of diminishing returns. Don’t be afraid to give your brain a rest, and come back to it fresh the next day. This’ll save you time in the long run too because the more you power through your exhaustion, the longer it’ll take to recover.
GIF via ilvbunnies/YouTube.
18. Identity your flaws and strengths, and communicate them to others.
“My colleagues know that in exchange for tolerating all the things I do that make me less reliable, they get a guy who can think outside the box, that can create on the fly, that can wear many hats at once,” says Upworthy’s fearless editor-at-large, Adam Mordecai.
“They also know that if they want something from me, I’m far likelier to get it done if they ping me immediately on chat rather than on email. Let your peeps know how to get the most out of you.”
19. Keep your eye on the prize, but forgive yourself and others.
Everyones fighting their own uphill battles, and you’re not going to get anything done if you’re too busy beating yourself up. (Youre not going to help anyone else be more productive if you externalize it and pick on them either.)
GIF from the SAG Awards.
20. Set your goals, but stay flexible.
Maybe you didnt get as much done today as you had hoped, but thats OK. Regroup, come up with a new strategy, and try to figure out what went wrong so you can do it better next time. Which brings me to the last, and perhaps most important, lesson:
21. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
This is actually a quote from Samuel Beckett, but it also makes for an excellent productivity mantra. The bad parts and failures are inevitable, and youll never overcome them all. But thats OK. Accept it, learn from it, and keep going anyway.
But you do have a brain. So use it. GIF from “The Wizard of Oz.”
ADHDers understand one thing better than most people: Success is not a stationary target.
There’s no “one weird trick” that will actually bring you any closer to success.
Instead, the best we can hope for is to embrace ourselves for all our strengths and weaknesses, and keep finding things to work toward. Perhaps that’s a new business endeavor, 15 simultaneous hobbies, or simply remembering to put your underwear on before your pants.
If that last part is a measurable indication, then for me, today was an extraordinary success.
