O Night
Fandom: MCU Captain America/Avengers
Summary: Facing your loved ones when youâre having a hard time can be hard to deal with, even for someone as strong as Sam Wilson. One Christmas Eve, he takes comfort with you while he builds his strength.
Quick facts: Romance â Sam Wilson/Reader âNondescript Reader
Warnings: Christmas fic, some angst, comfort
Words: 2121
A/N: I got 6k words into a different story and had to scrap it but I still wanted to do something so here we are. Sorry for yet another coffee shop fic but coffee shops are one of my ultimate weaknesses and I miss them. Itâs a great setting if you canât resist the urge to wrap a blanket around your favorite characters. Or at least, give them a warm drink and someone to talk to. This takes place pre-Captain America, some nebulous time after Sam comes home from Afghanistan. Iâm fudging a lot of details because uhhâŚbecause I can =3 Merry Christmas, you filthy animals <3
  ~
Itâs a quiet Christmas Eve. It feels too dark for the cusp of twilight, but the rain has been falling steadily all day and the clouds yet linger even though the sun is leaving. Youâve had an extremely small trickle of customers to your little coffee shop, probably thanks to the rain as much as the holiday, but it has been nice and you expected as much; thatâs why you made sure youâre the only one scheduled.
Normally you wouldnât feel so lonely, but you know your favorite regular wonât be in today as heâs visiting New York to be with his family. The thought makes you smile though. Sam Wilson is a good man and heâs been so excited for this trip, talking about it since Thanksgiving with almost everyone heâs ever encountered in your shop. Youâre happy for him. Within the last week heâs started looking a little more tired, a little more worn down, and youâre hoping the trip lifts him up so that heâs back to his happy and vibrant self. And if he starts flirting with you again, wellâŚthatâs just a nice bonus.
You go through another hour and a half of absolutely no customers before you think you can call it early today. Youâre the boss and you only have another hour scheduled, so you start cleaning up what little you have out, and when thatâs done, you go to flip the sign and lock up.
To your surprise, thatâs when someone appears at the door and tries to pull on itâ and to further your surprise, itâs Sam.
You both freeze for a moment, but when he takes a step back you fumble with the lock.
âSam?â you say as you throw the door open.
âIâm sorry,â he says, taking another step away. âI thought you wereââ
You lean out into the cold, biting rain, grab him by the shirt collar, and drag him in. You shake the water off your arm and wonder the appropriateness of your action, as he looks utterly bewildered, but heâs inside where itâs warm and you donât feel bad about that. Also, he tends to have a sense of humor about these things.
Indeed he blinks a few times and draws his lips out into a smile. But, while nice enough on the surface, it isnât what youâre used to. His normal smile is a slow natural spread that reminds you of a languid sunrise. This one is more like glass breaking, small and jagged. A fracture on his face.
âI havenât been handled like that in a while,â he jokes and pulls at his lapel for emphasis.
âI find that hard to believe,â you say and study him. The fragile smile falters for a moment, but then holds steady. âI thought you were going home for Christmas.â
He shrugs one shoulder and looks away, and the plastered smile finally starts to fade. âI thought you were still open.â
You mirror his shrug. âNo one was coming in. I thought Iâd sneak out early.â
âOh donât let meââ
âSit your ass down Wilson.â
He laughs, but he does go sit his ass down in his regular seat in the back corner. You unwrap the leftover cake slices you were going to take home and start the little coffeemaker in the back that you use for quick fixes first thing in the morning. You keep stealing looks to make sure Sam is still there. Heâs not talking, which isnât normally a cause for concernâ sometimes the two of you just sit together and enjoy each othersâ companyâ but tonight it feelsâŚwrong. His head is facing away and so he doesnât seem to notice that you keep poking your head out to look at him. He fidgets, looks at the door every now and then, and just seems generally lost.
You walk out carefully, holding the handles of two steaming hot mugs in one hand and precariously balancing two cake-filled plates in the other. You make it to the table, and Sam is so preoccupied with his thoughts that he doesnât start to help you until the plates touch the wood surface.
âShitâ sorry,â he says and reaches to help.
âDonât worry about it,â you say and place a mug in front of him before taking the seat across. Sam breathes in the steam and takes a sip, and you sit quietly with your own cup, allowing him to fortify himself.
It takes a few minutes, but he solidifies into something a little less ragged and his smile, when he can manage one, is small and sad and true. âIâm sorry I kept you open,â he says and looks down at his cup.
âI was expecting to be open for another hour anyways. Iâm just five years old at heart and got bored,â you say and get a slight twitch up of his lips before they fall back into place. He still isnât looking at you and you try to be gentle when you say, âItâs Christmas Eve.â
âSo it is.â
âI thought you were going home to Harlem to visit your family,â you say. Heâs silent, and your heart breaks a little at what that might mean. âDid something happen?â
âWha- no, no.â He shakes his head emphatically, looks at you, and then looks away, at the rain hitting the window. Itâs too dark to see much, but he remains resolute. Stubborn. âIâŚtold them something came up. That I wasnât coming.â
Your eyes go wide. Sam is a sharer and you cannot imagine that went over well. âWhy?â When he gives a nonchalant little shrug you frown. âSam.â
âI havenât beenâŚfeeling well,â he says, tripping over âfeelingâ and finishing quietly. âI think itâs better if I just stay home.â
âYou were so looking forward to seeing them though,â you say gently. Itâs all heâs been talking about for weeks. Or at leastâŚhe was. You assumed it was just typical holiday stress but now youâre thinking itâs something else and you feel guilty for not asking, when heâs always been so sweet to you and your employees. âAnd it sounds like they love you.â
âIâll see them again.â
You donât doubt that, but heâs hunched in on himself and he looks so⌠âHave you been sleeping at all?â
âNot much,â he admits but he sits up and rolls his shoulders. âIt comes and goes.â He smiles at you. âSorry, I shouldââ
âIs it that you think you canât handle them or you think they canât handle you?â
You hadnât meant to say that, and the way Sam freezes tells you very clearly how much he didnât expect to hear it, but letting him go like this just isnât right. You see his hand on the table and creep yours a little closerâ not touching, just to be nearby. So he doesnât feel so alone. âI didnât mean to be pushy,â you say. âBut Iâm worried about you.â
He exhales like heâs trying to expel all his air in one burst and shakes his head. âIâm not okay,â he says softly. âAnd I donât want them to see me like this.â
âIs hiding going to make it any better?â you ask, still trying to be gentle. âItâs a bad time of year to be alone, and theyâre probably just as desperate to see you as you are to see them. OrâŚwere.â
âAm,â he corrects, still looking at the table. His hand becomes a fist and he takes a deep breath. âI want to see them, but it doesnât feel right to make them go through this too, you know?â
âLike youâre inflicting yourself on them,â you say and he nods. You sigh. âAren't they already going to be worried? That youâre skipping out on them? At Christmas?â
He opens his hands. âI can fake it better on the phone.â
âSamuelâŚWilson.â
He gives you a brief grin. âHard to scold someone when you donât know their middle name, isnât it?â
âSamuel Whatever Wilson.â
That gets a brief laugh out of him, which ends abruptly when his phone, resting by his elbow, plays a song. You peek and feel a flutter at the caller IDâ but he just stares at it. Youâve never seen a man look so weary and wary at the same time.
âThat seems important,â you say.
The look he gives you is unimpressed, but he slides his hand over, waits one more ring, then snaps it up with a cheerful, âHey Mama!â A second passes and after a brief moment of surprise his expression twists down. âHeyâŚIâm okay, everything isâ âŚohâŚokay?â
You reach out to give his hand a brief squeeze and then stand to give him some privacy. His cup is empty but the plate still has some food on it so you take the empty mugs, your plate, and make yourself scarce for a little bit. You hang out in the back room and try not to eavesdrop, but you donât want him to skip out and be miserable on his own, so you try to just listen for the end of the call.
Fifteen minutes pass and youâre about to exit the back with a full cup of hot coffee to fortify him when you hear, âAll right MamaâŚIâll be there in the morning.â
He keeps talking but youâre suddenly occupied with trying not to splash hot coffee all over yourself in your excitement. You turn back around and quickly pour the coffee in a travel mug, and box up the last piece of cake. You come out with both in time to see Sam rubbing his ear.
âShe must have given you a talking to,â you say. He jolts, like he had forgotten you were there, and his smile comes easier. Itâs not one of his bright onesâ thereâs still a tinge of sadnessâ but the sight of it fills you with relief. Resignation doesnât normally look so good, but in this case itâs the best thing youâve yet seen.
âNobody can do it better than my mama,â he says fondly and looks at the cup and food.
âI tried not to hear anything,â you say apologetically. âBut given I doubt you can get a flight now, it sounds like youâve got a long night of driving ahead of you.â
He stands. âYeah,â he says, right in front of you, just inches away. âI guess I do. How much I owe you?â
You shake your head. Heâs very close and it is very distracting. âMerry Christmas Sam,â you say and smile at him. âGo be with people that love you.â
His smile softens. âI will,â he says like itâs a promise. And then heâŚdips in, and kisses you. Itâs light and chaste and your skin still feels the ghostly pressure of his lips on yours even when he pulls back. He studies you and you make your smile a little bigger. It isnât hard.
âSorry,â he says, still smiling. âSometimes I think I donât want to âinflictâ myself on anybody, and then sometimes I forget.â
âI donât think Iâd mind being inflicted with you.â You scrunch your face. âSorry, that didnât sound so dirty in my head.â
He laughs and you playfully push his shoulder as you step back. âBetter get packing before your mama comes to collect you herself.â
He does shudder at that and he grabs his cupâŚbut he stops and writes a number on a napkin, which he presents to you. âFor some distance inflicting.â
âYou make it sound so romantic.â But you take it, smiling. âHave a safe trip.â
âGuaranteed now.â He holds up the drink thatâll maybe get him through the next hour, but at least itâs something. He wishes you a merry Christmas and you swallow at hearing your name in the softest tone imaginable. And yet he still sounds unsure when he adds, âIâll see you when I get back?â
âYou better,â you say. You both stare at each other for a little while longer, until you finally shoo him out the door so that he can get on the road and you can get home yourself.
Sitting at home with an excellent meal, the rain pattering against your window, and a fire warming your small cozy apartment, you donât envy Sam having to race to New York in the rain on Christmas Eve, but you smile at the thought of the stories heâs going to come back with and settle in to rest so that youâre ready for his return. This next year is going to be interestingâ and pleasant, if that kiss is any indication.
Your lips feel heavy at the memory and they make a smile all their own. Merry Christmas indeed.

Enjoy!
Not married? But Lucifer was my husband, he had to be. He was real. I knew he was real. I knew I couldnât have dreamt what happened last night. It was so vivid.
âMiss, sorry to interrupt your discussion, but you do have a lesson today.â My hand-maiden came in.
âWhat lesson?â
âHistory, miss.â
âFine. Sorry we have to cut this short Maddox. Maybe we can meet later and discuss further. Maybe prove to you what we discussed.â
âMaybe.â
I follow my hand-maiden to the royal library.
âI have brought the princess as you requested sir.â
âGood.â My tutor spoke up.
âGood morning Samuel.â
âItâs just Sam, your highness.â
âSorry. So, what are we learning in history today?â
âYou get to decide for yourself, your highness.â
âI would like to study the history, and current events of the Oslucatish Kingdom.â
âWhy not your own kingdom?â
âBecause I need to know something. I will explain once I find my answer.â
âAlright, I shall grab you those books.â
âCan I start with current events please?â
âI suppose. I will grab the scrolls as well then.â
âThank you.â
Sam brought me the books and scrolls, and I began looking into the current events of their army. I knew they had a little bit of an advantage, but I needed to know how. I then found my answer quickly. It was because of Lucifer they had the upper hand in this war. I knew I had to find him, thinking that maybe if he saw me, he would remember me, and things will fall back into place.
âSam do you know where their army is placed currently?â
âI believe their soldiers are headed home by now. Maybe the southern mountain trail.â
âPerfect. Thank you.â I stand up and grab my stuff.
âHold on just a minute. We arenât done yet.â
âIâve got my answer. I just need him to see me to remember. He has to remember me.â
âWho?â
âYou wouldnât believe me if I told you.â
âTry me.â âIâll take my chances thanks. I must prepare for a long journey.â
âWoah, woah, woah. Iâm going with you then.â
âThis really doesnât concern you Sam.â âIt does if its Lucifer youâre after. My brother and I will escort you. He just returned from the hunt for those bandits.â
His brother must be the new commander then.
âI guess. As long as you both donât try to stop me.â
âWouldnât dream of it.â
âFine then. You both can escort me.â
âIâll go get ready and inform my brother.â
I nod and head back to my room and change into something comfortable for riding a while in. A dress isnât exactly the most comfortable thing to ride a horse in. I finished getting ready and met Sam and his brother at the stables.
âI donât understand why she wants to see him. Heâs going to kill her on sight, no question about it.â
âDean come on, We have to be a little supportive of the princess. No matter how stupid her decision seems.â
âShe does realise sheâs going to get herself killed, and then we have to risk our lives because she is stupid and idiotic.â
âDean you need to keep it down. Sheâll be here any minute, if she hears us talking like this, sheâll run off on her own and then we will have to bring an arm with us to find her.â
âDonât bother. Iâve heard enough.â I say walking inside.
âY-your highness. I-I didnât meanâŚâ
âSave it Sam. I should have just kept my mouth shut. I knew you wouldnât understand.â
âYou didnât give me a reason to understand.â
âI know you probably hate me princess, butâŚâ
âOnly Lucifer is allowed to call me princess. You may only call me highness, or mâlady. Anything else and I shall report you to my father.â
âYes, your highness.âÂ
I knew I caught Dean off guard. I was on a mission and no one was going to stop me. âWe best get going if we want to reach the village in time.â
âWhat village?â Sam asked, thinking we were going to race to the Southern Mountain.
âThere is a village nestled at the top of the mountain. The quicker we get going, the better. Itâll get dark quick, and we want to enjoy the festivities.â
âFestivities?â Dean asked, confused.
âThe celebration of sovereignty is a momentous occasion. The Oslucatish soldiers will probably rest there for the night, and join the celebration. It is in their territory after all.â
âYouâve done your research, your highness.â
âIâve tried.â I said grabbing a horse and mounting it, âwe havenât got all day boys. Try and keep up.â I nudge the horse into a gallop and take off towards the woods.
It didnât take long for the brothers to catch up to me. We rode all day long to make sure we got to the village before nightfall.
We finally arrived, just as the sun began to set.
âIâll secure a place for us to stay tonight, Sam you escort her around town.â
I let Sam follow me as I search the town, but there was no sign of the soldiers anywhere.
âSo why do you want to find Lucifer so bad?â
âI had a dream, one so vivid, I believe it was once real. I woke up this morning to find Lucifer was gone, and that no such adventure had happened. I feel that, since it was so vivid, if Lucifer sees me, heâll remember me.â
âYou have a lot of hope riding on this huh?â
âI do. I feel like I have so much to lose if I donât find him. We almost were torn apart once, and I wonât let that actually happen. I will keep fighting for him. No matter what the cost.â
âI admire your nobility, and your determination, your highness.â
âThank you. I just hope that Iâm right.â
âFor the sake of you, and our kingdom, I hope so too.â
We wander a little longer till the crowd ahead bursts into cheers and praise. This was it. The soldiers must have just arrived. This was my chance to finally show my face to him. I broke my way through the crowd to get a better look, and there he was. A top a majestic steed turning his face away from all the attention from the ladies. I had to get his attention somehow.
Please remember me Luc. Please see my face and run to me. I yearn to feel your string, yet gentle arms embrace me once more.
Now was my chance I had nothing left to lose, âAll hail Prince Lucifer! Second son of Oslucatish!â I shouted at the top of my lungs. I knew he had to hear me. He had to.
The whole parade of soldiers stops, and Lucifer hops off his horse. The crowd suddenly goes silent, as Lucifer looks around. I swear I could see a glimmer of hope behind those cold dark eyes.
âWho said that? Speak now and face minor consequences.â
âI did.â I stepped into the center where the soldiers were.Â
Everyone recognized me, and began to whisper amongst themselves. I didnât care. I was now standing only feet away from the man who held me so tight the night before.
âWho are you?â
âEveryone here can answer that Luc.â I spoke gently to him. If I spoke harshly he may not remember me.
âGuards, escort her to my room. I shall deal with her myself.â
I felt two huge hands grab my arms, but I didnât struggle. No audience was better if I was to help him remember me.
The guards take me to his room and slam the door behind me.
Not exactly friendly are they. At least I get to be alone with him.
The door bursts open and Lucifer walks in looking stearn and angry.
âI donât know who you think you are, but you canât proclaim whatever you feel like, if my brother, or father were to hear you say that, you would be killed on sight. Iâm only a knight now. I gave up my prince duties a long time ago.â
âLuc, look at me. Look into my eyes, and tell me Iâm a force to be reckoned with. Tell me that you donât think I can hold my own when it comes to Michael and your father.â
âNo one knows about Michael except those in our kingdom. You are an outsider.â
âMy name is Princess Y/N of Lucaea.â
âThen you should not be here. If anyone finds out youâre from Lucaea, let alone the princess, you will be killed for game. However you came here, or for whatever you came here for, you need to leave now.â
âIâm not leaving without you. I came this far, and I wonât leave till you agree to come with me.â
âYouâll have to kill me first before I agree to that.â
âI wonât kill you Lucifer. I wonât do it.â
âThen Iâm not leaving with you.â
âAnswer me this then, I called you Luc twice and you didnât tell me to stop, why is that?â
âBecause you donât exist. Youâre just another vision of my imagination that isnât real.â
âIâm not a figment of your imagination. Iâm real.âÂ
I reach out to caress his cheek, but he smacks my hand away. I gave a look of anger at him, shocked that he did that, âI didnât come all this way for you to smack my hand away. I came here to make peace with our people and this is the thanks I get!? Some fucking knight in shining armor you are. I canât believe I just wasted my time on someone who doesnât clear doesnât want me, or peace.â
âSir is everything alright?â A guard walks in.
Suddenly, Lucifer lunges at me and grabs my throat, âeverything is alright. I said I could handle this.â
The guard leaves, but Lucifer doesnât release his grip around my throat.
I just chuckle, âlook at you, youâre no different than your arrogant brother. Maybe I was wrong,â my expression went from angry to sadness, âmaybe I was wrong about you all along.â
He lets go of me, and stands up, âI...shit, what have I done?â
âYou arenât my Lucifer thatâs for sure.â I say standing up and wiping myself off.
âWhy...why did you come here?â
âI came to look for you. Came to see if seeing my face would help you remember.â
âRe-remember what?â
âA dream I had. It was so vivid, i felt like it was one of those dreams that only two people remember, and the rest think theyâre crazy.â
âWhat was your dream about?â
âAbout how we met. I was supposed to marry Michael, he tried to kill me, you saved my life, and we made a pact to marry each other for the sake of our kingdoms. My father disagreed with this and tried to force me to martyr Michael anyways. I snuck out of my chambers and ran to the dungeon, where I found you all bloody, and hurt. We escaped to Taekya because Michael had declared war against them, and the people were furious with us. We got the declaration of war and brought it back to my father. My father then agreed to let us marry, and we did.
âThatâs when I woke up, cold and all alone. I wanted you by my side. I never wanted you to leave. When no one knew about what I was talking about, I knew I had to come find you. I had to see you, even if it was one last time. I fought too hard to get you, just for me to lose you.â
âYou believe that was all a dream?â
âIt has to be. No one else remembers.â
âWhat if it wasnât a dream?â
âThat would be nice, but you would never choke me, or slap me ever. That isnât the Lucifer I married.â
âWell that Lucifer, and this Lucifer have changed. I kill because I feel more alive than I ever have before. That Lucifer was a coward.â
âDonât you dare say that! That Lucifer was nothing but brave! He was my hero!â
âYour hero died with your memory. So, I suggest you go back to whatever worthless hole you crawled out of because you are not my princess. Besides, my princess would be disappointed if she saw the man I turned into for her.â
âPrincess!â Sam and Dean burst through the door wielding their swords. âIf it isnât the two jesters. Youâre the bodyguards for the new princess? I thought that the king would send someone more qualified for the job. It wonât be as rewarding when I finally kill you.â
Lucifer runs at Sam too quickly for him to react in time. I had to do something. I had to stop him. I didnât know how though, he could easily kill me no problem.
âLucifer stop!â
He turns and looks at me, and I knew I had fear written all over my face. I was scared of what he had become.
âY/N get out of here now! We can handle him.â
âIâm the only one giving orders Dean. Not you. Everyone dares to take the one freedom that I truly am free to use. Step out of line again and youâll need to find a new place of work and let me tell you it wonât be as grand as the life you have now.â
I saw something click in Luciferâs head, ây-you said that to a guard who tried to stop you from entering your fatherâs study.â
I started to recall the dream I had, and he was right. He did recognize me.
âWord for word exactly.â
âSo you do remember me?â
âYou proved to me youâre actually real. That you really are Princess Y/N of Lucaea.â
âI am. Come home with me Lucifer. I donât want to spend another hopeless day without you by my side any longer. Itâs been torture not being able to run up and hug you.â
âI-I canât go back with you.â
âWhy not?â
âIâd be dead if your father saw me.â âIâll talk to him and straighten things out. Whatever started this war, we can end it.â
âYou donât understand. I will never be allowed to marry you.â
âWhy not!?â
âBecause Iâm the reason your father declared war against Oslucatish.â

The Generalâs Daughter Chapter 3

Title: The Generalâs Daughter Chapter 3

That was until Margaret Houlihan decided she needed help with the nurses. Now Stevie is heading to the 4077th, and a whole lot of adventure that she never thought she would see in her lifetime.
Series Warnings: Language, violence, war themes, later attempted non-con, sexual themes, later sexual scene, crude humor, and more that might come to mind later on.
AN: Thank you so much to everyone who read chapter 2! I really appreciate it! I would also like to thank @piratewithvigorââ for being my beta and listening to my insane ideas. Also, I want to go ahead and add that I have decided that this verse is âitâs okay to be gayâ. Screw homophobic 1950s.

Henry was sitting at a table in the mess tent with Margaret and Frank when Stevie walked in, feeling more refreshed than she had a few hours ago. She got her food and was about to find herself a place to sit when she was called over to their table. Part of her wanted to be alone, to just go through the motions until she was called back to Seoul, but another part of her really did want to fit in and enjoy her time at the famous 4077th.
âMajors. Colonel,â Stevie greeted the three as she sat down by Henry.
âHow are you liking it so far?â Henry asked, smiling at her.
âItâs a lot different than Seoul,â She returned his smile the best that she could. âBut itâs not bad.â
âNot bad, she says,â Henry laughed loudly. Stevie took a sip of her coffee and coughed when the liquid touched her taste buds.
âWoah, thatâs like tar,â She shuddered. âGather some of this and we could have paved roads all throughout here.â The doors to the mess tent opened and Trapper and Hawkeye made their way in. BJ had gotten fed up listening to Hawkeye not crush on Stevie and kicked him out, sending him to annoy Trapper for a little bit while he got some sleep. Trapper was quick to sit down by Stevie, giving Hawkeye a shit eating grin when he glared at the other surgeon. He was forced to sit on the other side of Margaret, refusing to sit by Frank.
âWhat did we miss?â Trapper asked, making eye contact with Hawkeye as he moved closer to Stevie.
âStevie discovered real Army coffee,â Margaret explained. âEven though I
thought you wouldâve been used to it being from a military family.â
âWell, we were always in fully functioning hospitals and such. They usually had good coffee.â Stevie took a bite of her food and made a disgusted face. âAnd food.â
âOh, your dadâs a doctor too?â Frank asked. Stevie nodded while Margaret smiled. Just like most of the higher brass, she knew Samuel Holsteadâs track record. And he was one she hadnât had the opportunity to have a discussion with.
âDoes that mean heâs the surgeon general?â Hawkeye asked. Margaret turned to glare at the captain and was about to berate him when Stevie started laughing.
âOh my! That was good!â Stevie smiled brightly at Hawkeye. âI seriously have never thought of that one before.â Margaret rolled her eyes as Hawkeye leaned across the table.
âIâm Hawkeye. We met earlier but you were tired.â He told her.
âHawkeye? Like Last of the Mohicans? â Stevie asked. Trapper could see Hawkeyeâs eye light up. He just knew that him and BJ would be subjected to more of his ânot crushingâ on Stevie in the days to come.
âExactly,â He smiled at her and Frank groaned.
âNow, donât you be corrupting her like you did Hunnicutt!â Frank snapped.
âCanât corrupt the corrupted,â Trapper laughed. Â Stevie shook her head and worked on trying to eat the food in front of her. âEven though, I think that the food will kill Ms. Captain here before we have a chance to corrupt her.â
âItâs not the worst food Iâve had,â Stevie explained. âBut Iâve been to so many bases over my lifetime, I couldnât tell you which was the best and worst.â She fiddled with the dog tags around her neck.
âWhere is home then?â Hawkeye asked. âIf youâve been to so many places.â
âI was born in Cicero, Indiana, and lived there until dad got settled in the remodeled Fort Benjamin Harrison.â
âIâm from Fort Wayne!â Frank said excitedly. âWait, whereâs Cicero?â Stevie sighed.
âAnyway, we lived in Indiana until I was about one or two I think. Iâve probably been on at least 50 bases over my lifetime. But my favorite was California. The sun, the beach. But thatâs all a story for another time.â She smiled and Hawkeye was sure that you could see his heart pounding out of his chest like in those Looney Tunes episodes. âAnyway, Major Houlihan, whenever you want to introduce me to the rest of the nursing team, Iâm ready.â
âDonât you want the rest of your oatmeal?â Trapper asked, poking at a white blob on her tray.
âThatâs oatmeal?â Stevie asked. âI thought it was bad powered eggs.â
âWelcome to the 4077th,â Hawkeye laughed. âWhere we have 1 star food and the ambient noise of gunfire to lull you to sleep.â Stevie gave him another smile before her and Margaret headed off to see the other nurses.
****
âIâll have to apologize for Captain Pierce,â Margaret told Stevie as they headed towards the other nurses quarters. âHeâs a good surgeon, but too cynical and a little too much of everything else. Especially for a first meeting.â
âHeâs fine major,â Stevie smiled fondly. âHe reminds me of someone.â
âOh? A boyfriend back home or something?â Margaret quizzed.
âNot quite. He's a friend who's a boy and we flirt and all, but he's like the brother I never had and always wanted . â Stevie sighed. âI still miss him a lot. Even though my dad doesnât like me hanging out with sergeantsâ
âA sergeant?â Margaret asked.
âWell, I just call him a sergeant. Michaelâs actually a sergeant major, but he wants to be a warrant officer so bad,â Margaret watched a sad smile make itâs way on Stevieâs face before she shook her head.
âWell, a sergeant major is almost an officer,â Margaret told her, patting her shoulder. âAnd a warrant officer is a lot of responsibility.â
âYeah...â Stevie shook herself out of her homesickness, returning to her cheerful mood. âCome on. Iâm ready to meet the girls.â Margaret returned her smile and went to get the nurses so Stevie could meet them.
****
âEarth to Hawkeye,â Henry waved his hand in front of Hawkeyeâs face. âHello.â
âWhat?â Hawkeye asked, turning his attention to the table in front of him. Radar, Klinger, BJ, Trapper, Henry, and himself were all gathered around the table for their poker game.
âAre you playing or not?â Trapper asked. âOr are you still daydreaming about Captain Holstead?â
âIâm not daydreaming about Stevie,â Hawkeye told them, throwing a couple chips into the pot.
âI had to kick him out because he kept talking about her goofy cute smile,â BJ told the group, causing Hawkeye to shoot a glare his way.
âOh, itâs just a crush. Once sheâs here for a few days, itâll go away,â Henry told them. âEspecially after he adds her notch to his bedpost.â
âWhat?â Radar asked. Klinger just patted his arm.
âWeâll tell you when youâre older,â Klinger laughed. Radar pulled his arm away.
âI think Iâm old enough!â Radarâs voice squeaked a little, making all the guys smile.
âWhat Henry means is that Hawk will get a roll in the hay with Ms. Captain and then heâll be back on his normal bullshit,â Trapper explained to Radar. âHeâll be drooling over her replacement when Hot Lips scares her so much that she would rather be at a front line aid station than here.â
âOh shut up,â Hawkeye shook his head. âLetâs just play cards.â Radar, Klinger, Henry, BJ, and  Trapper all exchanged looks. âWhat?â
âNothing,â BJ shook his head. âIâm in.â
****
Attention! Incoming wounded! Letâs do this folks!
Stevie stood in the OR with the other nurses. The corpsmen brought in a wounded soldier for each surgeon. Margaret went to stand by Frank, wanting to stand on the sidelines and see how Captain Holstead handled high paced surgery.
âCaptain Holstead, assist Captain McIntyre,â Margaret told her. Stevie nodded and headed over to Trapper.
âHey there sweetheart,â Trapper smiled at her under his mask. âIâm so glad I get to be your partner for your first dance.â
âIâve assisted in several surgeries,â Stevie told him. âBut this is a first at a MASH.â
âThen Iâm glad I can be your first,â Trapper glanced up at Hawkeye, who was glaring.
âYou wish Captain,â Stevie was smirking now. Trapper chuckled.
âCan I get some quiet in here?!â Frank yelled.
âYeah Frank. Quiet,â Hawkeye shot back.
The time in the OR seemed to fly by as Stevie worked with Trapper. She seemed to be channeling her inner Radar, being able to get Trapper what he needed before he even asked her. Eventually, the wounded stopped coming and everyone stripped out of their blood stained scrubs.
âSo, how was she?â Margaret pulled Trapper aside to speak to him about Stevie. Captain Holstead was otherwise preoccupied with BJ.
âShe was magnificent in every sense of the word,â Trapper told her. âI wouldnât mind seeing how she could be as a partner in other areas.â
âOh you pervert!â Frank shook his head.
âI was meaning euchre Frank,â Trapper shook his head. âWe have some very dirty minded people in this camp.â He laughed and headed out.
âIâd love to see pictures of her,â Stevie told BJ. She had gotten him talking about Peg and Erin, and he hadnât been able to stop. âHer and your wife just sound so cute.â
âThey are,â BJ nodded. âIâm going to call it a night, but I have plenty of pictures in the Swamp I can show you.â
âIâd love that,â She smiled at him and ran her fingers through her hair. âWell, Iâll see you later. I want to wash some of this blood off before I have Post OP duty.â
âGot you pulling that already?â BJ laughed. âMust have pissed someone off.â He smiled. âGoodnight Stevie.â
âGoodnight BJ,â She waved goodbye to the doctor before turning to scrub at her hands. Hawkeye threw his dirty laundry in the bag to be sanitised before heading over to where Stevie was. Frank and Margaret looked at each other before making their way over as well.
âYou did well Captain Holstead,â Margaret complimented her, a rare event that most nurses didnât get to see. âI hope you keep it up.â
âYes major. I wonât let you down.â Stevie nodded. âGoodnight.â Margaret smiled before leading Frank out. âSo, how long have those two been tangoing?â Stevie asked Hawkeye, not even looking up at him.
âThat obvious?â Hawkeye asked, leaning up against the wall to watch her.
âReminds me of some of the going ons back in Seoul,â Stevie told him. âIâm guessing one of them is married?â
âFrankâs married to who we assume is a hostage, Margaretâs married to the Army,â Hawkeye laughed. âWhat about you? Partner? Kids?â
âI havenât even had as much of a dog,â Stevie sighed. âDad said they were just too much trouble. And I havenât been in one place for long enough to have any serious relationships.â She tried off her hands and headed towards the Post OP for her evening rounds, surprised to see Hawkeye following her.
âIâm on night duty,â He told her. âDo you want some coffee or anything?â
âIâm okay for right now captain,â Stevie told him, walking through the rows of beds, looking at the wounded and resting servicemen. Part of her was scared that she would look at these faces and see one of the faces of her friends she had made over the years. But Michael was in Seoul the last she knew; Saul had gone to England for his grandmotherâs funeral, and she didnât see him coming back any time soon; Bill, no, his name was Axl, had been sent home and threatened to run to Canada if they ever tried to pull him back; and Izzy had switched to the Air Force with dreams of flying planes the way he raced cars, fast.
âYou can call me Hawkeye,â He told her, taking his seat at the desk in the corner. He put his feet up on it and watched Stevie walk around, checking on the charts. âSo, do you know any of them?â
âWho?â Stevie looked at him.
âThe Rockettes,â Hawkeye laughed. âThe soldiers.â Hawkeye waved a hand to indicate what he meant.
âOh, no,â She shook her head and took a seat at the desk with him. âThankfully, I donât. But I know that wonât last long.â
âWhat makes you say that?â Hawkeye asked.
âSome of these kids canât afford to get sent home. If their injuries arenât bad enough, theyâll let some officer tell them how great Army life is, promise them things that wonât ever come to them, and the cycle repeats itself.â Stevie sighed.
âLots of experience with that?â
âI know four guys that Iâve met at different bases over the years,â Stevie explained. âOnly one of them didnât let himself be convinced by the military to stay. He went back to Indiana, saying heâd rather take his chances with his asshole stepfather than be in the military one more day.â
âYou know, for you to be regular army, you donât have a very high opinion of it,â Hawkeye put his feet on the ground and leaned forward. âLike, I know why I hate it. But why do you?â
âI donât hate it,â Stevie told him. âI just resent it.â
âOh? Do tell?â Hawkeye smiled at her. Stevie laughed a little.
âMaybe some other time,â she got up. âDonât want to give all my secrets away on the first day. Now, if youâll excuse me, I have my rounds to make.â

[KFAM rock intro music]
Sammy Good morning! Youâre listening to King Falls AM, thatâs 660 on the radio dial. Itâs twelve minutes to six and a beautiful 67 degrees out here at Lake Hatchenhaw.
Ben We are mere minutes away from the starter pistol going off signaling the beginning of the 55th annual King Falls Bass Tournament.
Sammy Ben! I couldnât have said that better myself, youâre a natural!
Ben [âaw shucksâ] Whatever, Sammy.
Sammy But you heard it, kids! The tournamentâs about to get under way, but the festivities will be happening all day today. Be sure to swing on by the King Falls AM booth, pick up a bumper sticker, say hi to your favorite personalities, that sort of thing.
Ben And, of course, donât forget to tweet us your pics today @KingFallsAM or Instagram us with the hashtag kingfalls, and we will repost those bad boys.
Sammy Absolutely, Ben. But just because this show is winding down, doesnât mean weâre going to sleep on you! Weâve got a guest!
Ben Weâre here with Ron Begley, of Begleyâs Bait and Tackle. Sponsor of todayâs outing.
[note: Ronâs voice can generally be described as âgruffâ, any descriptors in transcription are more-so]
Ron [gruffly] Watch it, Ben. Outing is a big word. This is a gathering.Â
Sammy Hey, nice to meet ya, Ron!
Ron [sweetly] Nice meetinâ you too, Sammy! And always good to see you, Ben.
Sammy Now, Ron. For all the listeners on the fence about making their way down to the Tourney today, what would you tell âem to change their minds?
Ron Ah hell, if they arenât here now, they ainât coming.
Ben Metaphorically thoughâ
Ron [harshly] Donât use ten dollar words when a five dollar word will suffice, Ben. If the lazy bastards arenât up anâ at em and waiting on Mayor Grisham to fire that pistol, then there ainât no convincing them otherwise.
Sammy Well, you know what- Weâve got quite the turn out here it seems, so uh, maybe everybody made it down?
Ron [aggressively] Iâll give you fifty damn bucks if you show me Shell Snyderâs fat ass at this lake right now!
Ben Uhhh, Iâm sure-
Ron I saw that lazy son of a bitch at the town hidey-hole last night, and I know he hasnât drug his carcass outta bed.
Sammy Hidey-hole?
Ben Donât ask.
Ron You want something thatâll put some asses in the seats? Iâll give you somethinâ and this oneâs for free. Today we got the fishing tournament, we got the bouncy house for the kiddies, we got that weird food truck that nobody ever eats at but it still shows up to all the King Falls events,
Ben Aaand?
Ron [teasing] And you know where Iâm going, Ben. And just last week out by the sunken pontoon boats⌠We had a sighting!
Ben By the BOATS? That is so close.
Sammy Alright guys. You got me. What did we see?
Ben Sammyâ
Ron Why, the Lake Hatchenhaw monster, Sammy!
Sammy Monster.
Ron Why the hell didnât you Wikipedia-Google-book this town before you moved your sweet ass to it?! Everybody in creation knows about the Lake Hatchenhaw monster!
Sammy Alright, *chuckles* Iâm sorry. Uhhh, I donât mean to be rude, Ron, but youâre talking about your own version of the Lochâ
Ron Donât. Say it. Donât even think it! That fake sh[bleep]show of a lake monster has nothinâ on Kingsie.
Ben Youâll have to pardon Sammy. He doesnât believe in the extra-ordinary.
Ron [softly for Ron] What a sad life you must live, Samuel.
Ben So, Ron. This will be the fifth sighting this year, is that correct?
Ron [happy/proud] Fifth this year! Sheâs been a busy one. Since I took over this shop from my dad, I donât know that we ever got Kingsie more than twice a year.
Sammy Well, ya heard it here ladies and gents. Uh, If tournament, the bouncy house, and the weird food truck donât get you downâ Kingsie will.
Ron Thatâs the spirit!
Sammy *chuckles* Okay, about the tournament, Ron. What exactly is on the line here? Wha-Whats the prize today?
Ron Same as every year, Sammy! Brand new bass boat with all the fixinâs and a 500 dollar check from the King Falls Chamber of Commerce.
Sammy That is a hell of a prize! I might just put the mic down and have a go myself, guys!
Ron More than welcome! [gruffly] But you better bring Ben along so you donât end up as a âfictional lake monsterââs din-din.
Ben *sighs* Iâd love to be out on that lake today! Nothing like it!
Sammy Ron Begley, everyone. Uh, Ron, thanks for dropping by and adding some color to the end of our broadcast today!
Ron [quiet and angry] Is that a gay joke, Sammy?
Sammy Uh, I-Iâm sorry, what?
Ben Ron, not. At all.
Ron [threateningly] Iâm not going to come on this show, and have you talkinâ trash. Iâm the only soul brave enough in this town to own my identity and Iâm not going to take any flack about itâ
Sammy Ron. Ron. No harm was intended. I-I didnât even know.
Ron [angry, almost shouting] Well now you do so watch your mouth! I like f[bleep]inâ and I like fightinâ and Iâm completely sure you donât want any part of either!
Sammy I-I Ron. *nervous laugh* I meanâ
Ron [pleasantly] Iâm just jerkinâ your chain, Sammy! Keep up the good work, guys!
Ben *Laughing loudly* Oh, you should see your face!
Sammy Thanks, Ben. Uhâ
Some Guy *Slurred* Heyy Ben! What up duuude?
Ben Heyy, uh, Matt! Uhhh. Weâre-weâre kinda live here, buddy.
Matt Riiight on! ⌠maintain brahâŚ
Ben Sorry.
Sammy Oh, no worries, bro.
Ben Uh, uh- alright folks! Youâll never believe who weâve got heading this way! The man of the hour, the man with all the power⌠Mayor Grisham.
Sammy Mayor Grisham. Thanks so much for taking some time out to talk with us today!
Mayor Grisham Oh, Iâve been wanting to! Believe me. But you boys are on so darn early! I just canât drag myself out of the bed.
Sammy Understandable.
Mayor Grisham However, my assistant, Riley, transcribes every show for me. Seems like youâre doing a great job. The both of you.
Ben Oh! Thanks so much, Mayor Grisham!
Mayor Grisham You got it, Ben! Hey, howâs your mom doing these days?
Ben Great! Sheâll be thrilled that you mentioned her!
Mayor Grisham Least I can do.
Sammy Now, Mayor Grisham, youâre joining us today because in just a few short minutes weâre gonna be kicking off the 55th annual King Falls Bass Tournamentâ
Mayor Grisham Absolutely! Itâs one of the perks of the job that makes it all worthwhile. I mean, who could turn down a beautiful morning on the lake, with all the people of King Falls?
Sammy So, do you ever partake in the tournament yourself?
Mayor Grisham *chuckles* I wouldnât want to put the King Falls residents to shame! Iâm quite an avid outdoorsman.
Sammy Well, itâs nice of you to give everybody a sporting chance.
Mayor Grisham Oh yeah.
Sammy Now, before we let you go- and believe me I hate to break down the mood â
Mayor Grisham Then donât.
Sammy Oh, *chuckles nervously* well I-I was just gonna ask if you had heard any recent news regardingâŚ
Mayor Grisham Sammy. Another time and another place.
Sammy Well, Mayor Grisham. [floundering] We here, weâ
Mayor Grisham Thatâs all at this time. Thanks for having me. Have your people call Riley and weâll schedule something soon, Sam.
Sammy [confused and irritated] Heh⌠Okaay?
Ben What is he- he- canât- weâre supposed to be here for another three minutes, Sammy.
Sammy *unamused laugh* Itâs fine, Ben, uh- itâs not your fault.
Ben Well, no. You ran him off, *scoffs* [growing frantic] buuut he was supposed to stay with us until we went live! with the opening ceremonies!
Sammy Hey, hey. Itâs okay.
Ben [worked up] Iâm going to fix this. Uh- I got it!
Sammy Ben-Be- Well. That was Ben just leaving in a full sprint, kids. Uh, seems itâs just you and me now, uh, and the mayorâs assistant, recording our every word.
Voice in distance Shotgun Sammy!
Sammy *groans* Okay, so weâre about four minutes away from the top of the hour, and the tournament getting started. Uh, weâd like to wish all the participants today the best of luck, break legs, uh, you know catch fish, wh-what have you. Uh, watch out for Kingsie, obviouslâ
Ben I got it! I got it! Iâm back!
Sammy Oh, Benâs back ladies and gents! And he has a friend!
Ben Sammy, King Falls, this is Mr. Herschel Baumgartner. Winner of last yearâs tournament! How you doing today, Mr. Baumgartner?
Herschel Good, Benny. Real good. Just ready to get my spot and giveitago this year. Uh, you know itâs about to start, right boys?
Sammy So, Herschel, you won the actual tournament last year, is that correct?
Herschel Oh, you bet I did! Won it back in â92, and â89 as well. But donât go askinâ for tips now, son. Now if you excuse meâ
Sammy Oh wow! So you are a three time winner of the King Falls Bass Tournament lookinâ for big number four this morning!
Herschel [sarcastic] Huh, Big City can count. Weâre T-minus three minutes here, boys. If you donât have anything pressingâŚ
Ben Uh, for the listeners, Mr. Baumgartner, wha-what would you say is, is, is, the-the most important partâ
Herschel [suspiciously] Who put you up to this? Was it Cecil? [grumbling] Amateur, usurpinâ so-and-so-
Ben No! We-we just needed to fill some time.*nervous laugh*
Herschel Youâre going to pull me out of my boat to fill time? You are a DUMB son of a b[bleep]!
Sammy [warning] Hey now!
Herschel Donât you dad-voice me, son. Iâll put a boot rrright up your ass, just like I did those Krauts[1] back in WWII! [said âdubya-dubya twoâ]
Sammy [harshly] You know what? Great talking to you Herschel.
Herschel [grumbling] New-fangled radio bums, looking for a hand-out. I ainât givinâ ya no tips! No spots, no tricks oâ the trade! How I flick my wrist [fades out as he walks away]
[woman screams in bg]
Ben Was⌠that a scream?
Sammy [laughing dismissively] Iâm sure it was just someone seeing Mr. Baumgartnerâs lovely personality.
Ben I think something might be up, Sammy. Seriously.
Sammy Uh, ladies and gentlemen, as always, we thank you for tuning in with us here at King Falls AM. Weâre about to go live with the opening ceremonies at the 55th annual-
[another, longer scream. Someone in the bg yells âThereâs a body in the lake!â followed by sounds of an agitated crowd and a lot of people screaming]
Sammy Folks, stay with us! It seems that a body has just surfaced here at Lake Hatchenhaw! Come on, Ben!
Ben [incredulously] Weâre going there?
Sammy Cronkite. Brokaw. Ben Arnold.
Ben *huffs* Right.
[Deputy Troy yells incomprehensibly through a megaphone.]
Ben-at-a-distance Tweet us!
[screaming continues]
Sammy Alright, weâre on the dock. [aside] if we could just push pastâ Thereâs the mayor! Right there!
Deputy Troy [through a megaphone] Everybody please stay calm!
Ben [quiet, worried] What if itâs Tim?
Sammy Mayor Grisham! Can you confirm that there is a body hereâ
Deputy Troy [still through the megaphone] Sorry boys. I donât want to, but the Mayorâs going to cutâ
[audio cuts to static]

6 - Colouring Outside the Lines (days gone by - nct)
Days Gone By masterlist | main masterlist
The remainder of August passed like nothing ever happened, school started up again far too quickly and maybe, just maybe, Mark would get his fresh start and life could go back to ânormalâ. But really, what is normal anymore? Between Renjun and Jaemin figuring out where they stand with one another, Hyuck pretending like everythingâs okay and the brother Mark feels like he barely knows anymore, Mark feels too busy to get a second chance to think about anything other than his exams. Autumn always brings about change, for some its for the better â for others, not so much.

They say time slips away when youâre having fun, thatâs why you said letâs change our life to a dull one Donât wanna blink one day and this will all be over, if only time could stop so weâd never grow older
Yet in the same breath I look forward to the day when our skin has aged, Iâll love you just the same Our canvas will have endless hues and shades because of all the vivid colours that we made
Mark always liked Autumn the most out of the seasons, the softer weather, no longer having to deal with the obnoxious sun, trees turning from electric greens to an array of dusky oranges. The air was crisper, a little harsher and with it came the rain but Mark never minded rain, perhaps it was the memories of walking Jisung home from middle school with Johnny, running and laughing as the rain poured over them â having forgotten their umbrellas that morning. Their mum always berating them for being so careless, complaining and nagging that they could make themselves sick. Collapsing through the door, out of breath, changing out of their now soaked through uniforms and curling up with hot chocolates in an attempt to increase their body temperature. They didnât get to do that anymore. Johnny was at university, although only an hour away, but far enough that technically he didnât live here anymore, at least not from September until June, Jisung went to the same school as Mark now and refused to drive in with him, still taking the bus â arguing he liked his âquiet timeâ. Mark remembers the bus, the bus is not in any way, shape or form, quiet. Jisung was fiercely independent, everyone knew this, he kept to himself as much as possible bar the three friends Mark knew heâd had since pre-school, Beomgyu, Samuel and Linlin, who even with their ten-year friendship, Mark knew very little about each of them. Frankly, he didnât know much about his younger brother, not as much as heâd like to at least. Sure, Mark could tell you he has an extremely varied music taste, currently enjoying BTS and Black Pink but also the likes of panic! At the disco and Vinyl Theatre, he seems to be obsessed with HONNE at the minute if the constant playing of crying over you or location unknown was anything to go by, Mark could tell you that he prefers grey or muted tones rather than colour, knew that Jisung hates tomatoes but doesnât mind tomato flavoured things, but Mark didnât learn these things because he was told them, they were just things heâd picked up on. They didnât talk anymore. Mark didnât know what TV show he was currently binging, or what his favourite film at the minute is. Mark didnât know the youngers opinions on his soulmate mark, he couldnât remember the last time he heard Jisung ranting about Johnny and Ten and the damage they do to his innocence.
Jisung felt like a stranger to Mark these days, not someone he once couldnât be separated from. Maybe that was a bit of a stretch but they were close, just how youâd imagine siblings to be. Sure, they fought and squabbled over who really won at Mario Kart but for a long time they really were each otherâs best friend.
It was sad really. Beginning to feel like you lived alongside a stranger, passing each other in the hallway or across the landing but no time for anything more than a quick âhelloâ or a mumbled, half-arsed âgood morningâ from either of the brothers. It would also be much better if Mark wasnât thinking about all of this at four am when he had a chemistry test at nine and while half of his brain is making him feel guilty about how heâs been a shitty brother and too preoccupied with his exams, the other half of his brain is running through Born-Haber cycles and it only made him feel worse. Marks realising that even though its barely October, heâs become exactly who he didnât want to be, he drowns himself in work and when heâs not studying thermodynamics or the freaking nitrogen cycle heâs attempting to get some sleep or sometimes , just sometimes, heâs actually active in the group chat and is able to somewhat keep up with Renjun and Jaeminâs developing relationship but most importantly heâs gotten used to Donghyuck pretending like not a thing had happened back in August. Donghyuck left that morning, within two days he was back to messaging the group chat (also known as âBeyoncĂŠâs bad bitchesâ - yes, it was named by Jaemin, Renjun is still mad he wasnât allowed to call it âa guide to crackheads, volume 101â and Hyuck wanted to call it âhoes madâ. Mark did not agree to any of these names and continues to hide his phone whenever his mum is around - he has never flipped it over so fast than when his mum walks into the room, his friends have a habit of setting their own contact names to inappropriate phrases, i.e. Jaeminâs (again) current contact name is âyour guide to getting that dick 101â, is there not a limit on the number of characters?) like everything was fine, starting out with his fist message about why on earth did he have homework over the summer, the summer. Werenât you supposed to relax and âblow off some steamâ?
Markâs brain was in a state of overflow, uni application due here, maths test next week, chemistry exam today , start spending more time with your brother before you get even busier and he needs someone right now without Johnny around and deal with stupid feelings for Donghyuck knowing full well that they are unrequited tomorrow.
âHey Mark? Can you come pick me up?â
âSure, what time?â
âNow?â Panic, panic, panic.
âYeah sure. Is everything okay? You sound kinda wobbly?â
âIâm fine. Iâm down the backroad behind the park, Iâm waiting at the end of the road.â
âOkay, Iâm grabbing my keys and Iâll be on my way.â
Markâs guide on how not to panic was a short one, it consisted of âbreathe and donât freak other people outâ. He only had a ten-minute car journey to figure out how to calm down. Jisung was in trouble . There is no way he wouldâve called otherwise and considering he couldâve walked home and it would only take an extra five minutes, something was clearly wrong. Hence, Markâs brain has gone into instant panic mode. He wasnât good at dealing with people or emotions, especially when he had no idea why his brother was down this road â none of his friends lived here, at least not as far as he could recall. Mark definitely broke the speed limit more than once (or four) times, his baby brother wasnât okay.
Jisung looked glum. His eyes were read and puffy, visible even though Mark was a few metres away from him, his posture was sluggish and he looked broken . Jisungâs face didnât light up upon seeing Mark, although he did look a little less panicked, instead he practically dragged his body into the car, slouching in his seat and saying âJust go,â before turning up the Twice song currently playing (what is love? Markâs brain supplied).
âAre we going to sit in silence and pretend like everythingâs fine or is this the point where instead of Twice we listen to The Neighbourhood, Chase Atlantic and The 1975 and you tell me whatâs going on so I donât have to call Johnny or mum ?â Yeah, Mark was not good at the whole authority figure thing but he did remember all the things Johnny did for him. Mark remembers his first crush, the boy was not gay and Mark, stupidly, told this boy, Daniel, that he was. Daniel was one of the first people Mark came out to and well, he didnât take it well. Accused him of âtaintingâ him, trying to make him gay. So, Mark, teary-eyed and heartbroken, rang Johnny who came to pick him up. Johnny sat with him in the car at the lookout, blasting Mr Brightside by The Killers until Mark was ready to talk. That was when Johnny taught Mark about how there are some really, really great people who will run around waving pride flags for you and do everything they can to make you comfortable (like Lucas) and there are some people who are stupid and are not-so-great, some people donât like it and thatâs okay, theyâre entitled to their opinion, Johnny had said, theyâre just wrong. Mark was thirteen at the time and quickly learnt that some problems (aka stupid crushes on boys that are tall, have fluffy hair and chocolate-coloured eyes) can be solved with a tub of Ben and Jerryâs cookie dough ice cream and some crying while listening to Taylor Swift, not that Mark would ever admit his secret love for her.
âThereâs a boy,â Jisung mumbled, âI think I like him? I donât know. I ran out of his house after he hugged me and I panicked.â Oh. My. God. This was happening, okay Mark, you can do this.
âDoes he make you happy?â
âSo happy. He smiles at me and I feel a weight lifted off my shoulders. We get along really well, he doesnât find my playlists weird and he already knew every Twice member and most of the artists I was listening to and he thinks Iâm cute and he pinches my cheeks and I donât hate it.â
âYou hate when anyone touches you without permission, usually?â
âI usually do. But, not him. I want to pinch his cheeks too. He has a gummy smile, itâs so cute. He has purple hair too! I really want to try purple, he said Iâd look good with pink though so now I really want to try pink hair because he likes it. What is happening to me Mark?â
âYouâve got a crush Sungie.â
âLike you and Hyuck?â
âYeah, like me and Hyuck. You feel the room brighten a little when he walks in and he makes you a little breathless when he gets too close, right?â
âRight! Iâm gay arenât I. This is the moment I realise Iâm gay, huh, though itâd be a bit more exciting.â
âYouâve got plenty of time to explore what you want to, or not, label yourself as Sungie. But you do have a crush on a boy . Itâs not the end of the world and no, he wonât hate you.â
âBut I donât know if heâs gay? Iâd feel bad if he wasnât and I tried to confess.â
âI honestly have no idea who weâre talking about so I couldnât tell you if I had an inkling or not but youâll figure it out. Talk to him, thatâs the only way to get through these things. You can panic and run away all you like but you canât avoid him forever, trust me, Iâve tried one too many times.â
âOkay. Thank you. Do you think this means Tenâs going to drag me to pride now?â
Mark let out a sigh, âWe both know everyone was going whether they wanted to or not. Come on, letâs get ice cream and watch a movie. If youâve got any questions you can always come to me, unless its sex stuff â Iâm not ready for that, go to Johnny, youâre a baby so there better be no sex stuff for a long, long time.â
âOh my god Mark,â Jisung groaned, âyou do not have to worry about that stuff. Please just drive, I want cookie dough. And, weâre playing Mario Kart! Dibs on Yoshi.â With one last chuckle, Mark turned back to look at the younger, his own smile widening upon seeing a veryembarrassed but grinning Jisung. They would figure this out, together.
- - -
âYou like me and my cold hands,â Jaemin whined, âmaybe, you could warm them up for me. Donât look at me like that, you loveee me.â
âHar-har, have I mentioned how funny you are lately? No? Wonder why that is. Come here you idiot.â Jaemin wrapped his arms around the smaller, allowing Renjun to bury his head into his chest, one of the only places the younger emitted warmth.
âSee, told you that you love me.â I do, not that Iâd tell you that.
âRenjun? Hey, youâre going to get a sore back if we donât move.â
âI donât want to.â
âWhat did you say? Renjun you canât speak into me; I canât hear you.â
âI said, I donât want to go. I like it here, youâre warm.â
âNot even ten minutes ago you were whining that Iâm cold.â
âI said your hands; your hands are always cold but you seem to radiate heat from everywhere else. Wait, aside from your feet too, theyâre always cold, whenever they touch me in bed, I feel like an icicle.â
âYouâre just always cold, you wear hoodies in August .â Now, as much as Renjun likes to dispute most comments made about him, he couldnât argue against this. It may be October now and the cold weather has well and truly set in but, Renjun was always cold â four layers even when the current temperature was reading eighteen degrees, almost hot for an Autumn day. It worked as the perfect excuse to curl up into people (Jaemin) in search of warmth.
âThere is nothing wrong with that,â Renjun huffed, âIâm just naturally colder than like, everyone.â
âI like that youâre cold, it gives me the excuse to cuddle you into oblivion and it makes you squirm when I do this-â
âAAH! STOP!â Icy hands were tickling at Renjunâs sides, making their way under his shirt, Renjun squirming and giggling, breathlessly panting for Jaemin to stop.
âSpeak clearly Injun, I canât hear you.â The grin on Jaeminâs face would make your cheeks hurt, wide with pure joy and his eyes filled with love as he flipped their positions, hovering over Renjun as he continued to tickle him to no end. âWhat was that? Did you say you wanted me to stop?â
âJaeminnie please,â his voice was wheezy, trying to catch his breath whenever Jaeminâs hands paused their movement.
âOkay, okay. I have a better idea anyway,â and with that, his voice dropped an octave, away from his usual singsong tone to darker and husky. He dropped his head into the crook of Renjunâs neck, leaving light, feathery kisses where he could before moving under his ear and up his jaw, planting kiss after kiss on the expanse of Renjunâs face. God, Jaemin gave the best forehead kisses.
âYep,â another sigh left Renjunâs lips, âdefinitely a better idea.â Jaemin finally connected their lips, breath tangling with one anotherâs, lips chasing each other whenever they parted for breath. It was needy but soft, like they were treasuring every moment of it, holding onto it.
A short while later Jaemin, having left Renjun with lips slightly swollen, much pinker than they were before and his neck littered with reddening marks, pulled away.
âWe need to talk.â Renjun wasnât a fan of this tone of voice, it wasnât singsong and melodic like normal, nor was it huskier and darker than when he was breathless. This tone was rigid, void of emotion.
âS-sure?â It made Renjun feel small, like he was vulnerable, almost like whenever he got in trouble with his parents as a child.
Jaemin moved from hovering over him, instead opting to sit next to him. He let out a sigh, running his hand over his face, âI canât keep doing this,â his voice was wobblier now, âwe canât keep going around like this not knowing if weâre soulmates or not. We could be hurting people. I have a soulmate mark and you donât, maybe thatâs how itâs supposed to be â youâre my soulmate but, I am not yours.â Jaemin continued to rant on like this, saying that it wasnât fair, that he didnât want to live like this.
âJesus Jaemin, will you let me speak for one second, please?â
âOh, right, uhm. Yeah, sorry, go ahead.â The way Jaemin could turn from dominant and flirtatious, arrogant and stern to a complete utter mess never ceased to amaze Renjun.
âYouâre an idiot, a complete and utter idiot.â
âNow, I donât think thatâs fair- â
âNo, it is,â Renjun leant down to tug his sock off, his soulmate mark out of hiding, âlook at me, stop burying your face in your hands and look at me.â
âIâm embarrassed Renjun, I think I have every right to not want to look at you.â
âOh my god, I would not put up with you if you werenât my soulmate.â
âWhat?â Jaeminâs head snapped up at that, glassy eyes meeting Renjunâs before darting down to where Renjunâs leg was crossed over into his lap, revealing his soulmate mark in all its super tiny glory. Angel written in a minimalistic print along his ankle. âYouâre kidding, h-how could you not tell me?â A lone tear escaped the corner of his eye and god, Renjun was so damn in love with this boy.
âI didnât know how to tell you, Hyuck said you cried for three hours about how I didnât have a soulmate mark. I couldnât exactly turn around and be like âhey Jaemin, I know weâve been making out at least three times a week since prom night and weâre not together officially or anything but you are actually my soulmate , youâre just a dumbass who didnât take my socks off and Iâm madly in love with youâ. Do you see my issue there?â
âNope, you definitely shouldâve done that. I couldâve been kissing you every day of the week. I liked you before, regardless of whether or not we were soulmates, sure I knew since I met you because wow, youâre you and then I just- â
âShut up and kiss me already.â
âThis means weâre boyfriends, right?â
âNot if you donât kiss me in the next three seconds.â
âJesus, so bossy!â
âYou love it.â
âThat I do.â
âI love you too.â

a (not so) mini astro analysis: kim samuel
*I will only base this on his personal planets (sun-mars) and a couple of aspects I have noticed that are showing / have shown throughout his activities in the industry. Itâll be unlike my other analyses because I want this to be direct to the point but also informative at the same time. Please take this with a grain of salt since I am no expert and everyone might not relate to him if they have the same exact placements.Â
Sun in Capricorn, Moon in Pisces
This part will be quite long.Â
This combination shows that he is truly one of those hardworking individuals who have big dreams, and I mean big. He imagines himself doing so many things for his future and takes every step to get to success. Being a Capricorn himself, he already showed us how much effort he puts in with whatever he does and, in comparison to those who are around his age, he shows himself as quite mature both in thought and action.Â
His moon sign shows that even with all of the qualities of a Capricorn⢠in general, he is a softie deep down. He is affectionate and sensitive to those around him, especially ones close to him. He truly has a big heart and will make any effort to help anyone who asks of his help. Sometimes he might even think of others before himself, which he needs to take care of because if he goes too far heâd end up being too much of a giver and could forget his own needs. He can get quite emotional too, but he restrains himself because he doesnât want to be seen as vulnerable.
Thatâs where his Capricorn sun comes, he disciplines himself and even challenges himself by juggling on things he wants to face while still young. He wants to get ahead on his future because there are so many things he wants to learn and do, even if he fails. Failure is a huge no-no to him. In fact, he sees this as a lesson to himself in case he were to do those things again or switches to another. Even though he might seem quite âcloudyâ for many, heâs got good common sense. Actually, great common sense.Â
However, seeing his chart he has quite a minor aspect that could be a little troubling on the way. He has sun biquintile moon. Biquintile is one of the more minor aspects (major ones are like those conjuncts, squares, etc) and is considered a quite more tense aspect thatâs close to a square. He could have trouble expressing his emotions and what he really wants, which I can see because Capricorn and Pisces have obvious differences in traits itself.Â
Examples of this would be, unfortunately I have to mention this, the fall of 1Punch and the finale of Produce 101 Season 2.Â
Take in mind also that I am only explaining what had possibly happened to him and possibly how he felt, rather than what really did. Iâm no fortune teller.
(what a cutie let me squish???)
Letâs go with the sudden disbandment of 1Punch. Jaewon established himself as a very talented rapper after Show Me The Money and became widely popular. This also led others thinking of what would happen to Sammie whilst 1Punch was indefinitely put to hiatus because of Jaewonâs activities AND move to YG-- Iâm likely sure Sammie knew this was coming. He probably already knew 1Punch wouldnât work out. He probably already knew Jaewon wasnât satisfied with the idea of the duo or even wasnât happy with the music he was making.Â
Because honestly, itâs unfortunate that they had to disband, but they possibly had no other choice. And because of this, many people felt that Jaewon betrayed Sammie to join SMTM and YG. Iâll be honest, itâs slightly possible. It was all sudden, and with the reaction of their fans Iâm pretty sure Samuel may have had thoughts of disappointment to not only the whole outcome, but also to himself. He felt very sad and very hurt from the result, but had no other choice but to move on. Pretty sure Jaewon didnât mean to even leave Samuel and had talked to him beforehand about their plans, even with their company.
My opinion on this is neutral and I am sure Samuel just went on with the plans Brave Brothers had for him even though it took a while. I felt really sad that Samuel had to go through training again, but what can we do. Many people still thought he was too young to take on adult-like challenges when he debuted. So Iâm likely sure Samuel promised himself that he can do many more things to improve when he grows older and learns more. He just strived and strived until he felt like he was it was time (or if Brave Brothers did).
Produce 101 Season 2 was a big step for Samuel. People were already aware of his (unfortunately failed) debut. But they saw him as competition-- he was already exposed to the hardships and struggles in the entertainment industry. So when Samuel was seen, other trainees probably saw how much he had matured both physically and mentally compared to the young child they saw during 1Punch. He had learned so many things whilst out of the spotlight (no pun intended he released a song titled Spotlight before broduce badum tss LISTEN TO IT ITâS FUN sorry silento but no).Â
He wanted to show that he was capable of doing many things even though heâs still young, like I said. So joining the show itself was a very overwhelming thing for him. Weâve seen him grow, weâve seen how competitive he was, weâve seen how hardworking he was, we have even seen how people saw him as competition because he had so many talents up his sleeve, even ones that otherâs canât do. He had the drive, heâs a quick learner, he knows how to build up the atmosphere. All of that, despite his, again, young age.
Letâs get straight to the point-- the disappointment was obviously seen in Samuelâs reaction when he didnât get into the top 11. He felt vulnerable yet he really didnât want to show how hurt he was to many people, especially his fans. Many were so expectant for him to be able to get into the lineup as he had always been consistent with his ranking within the top 11. But the result immensely broke his heart and reminded him of how 1Punch ended. He might have thought he had failed yet again despite all the hard work he had put just to be able to be active in the industry again. This hurt both his pride and ego, but again, he didnât want to show it to everyone. He cried, he obviously did. It broke our hearts.
Now before you think about why I am explaining this, is because Samuelâs sun and moon combination makes him slightly psychic but nervous. He might have had many thoughts ofÂ
âWhat if I canât get in the top 11?â
âNo... I must think positive! I need to show Iâm strong and confident. I got this.â
âBut something inside me still thinks otherwise...â
This is common for those with tense aspects to their sun and moon. The sun shows our ego, how we want to show ourselves to the world. The moon represents emotions, what keeps us on the down low, what he truly feel. In Samuelâs case, he mightâve had trouble trying to express himself fully at times. He wants to show he is strong, but inside he could be slightly much of a worrier than anyone thinks.Â
In his mind itâs like a battle where he gets confused easily on what he needs to show. Heâs determined, but also nervous. Heâs hardworking, but also slightly a pessimist. He can get things done, but he gets all worried right after of the outcome. This is common for everyone, even out of astrology-wise, but to him this could be slightly frequent especially since heâs working in a very harsh industry at a young age.
But actually, this could actually turn into a more positive note for him! He felt that even though he could not get into the top 11, heâd believe he also felt like he had time to do things that he wanted. He maybe also wanted to challenge himself again. To this, he gained even more independence and possibilities of many endeavors may have popped inside his mind.To sum it all up, he saw the outcome of the results as a challenge to a new start. And he loved the idea of it.
Letâs look at the very bright side: he debuted, even had a couple of comebacks right after, gone into variety, did some hosting, even had a concert-- ALL on his own.Â
This is a very positive thing for him and in comparison as to how he was being strained from doing many things and I think he was given even more freedom this time by his company through his hard work and persistence. He showed how capable he was of doing many things along the way after Produce 101 so of course, all the blessings have come to him. I feel like heâs definitely more comfortable now
Some other traits he can get from this combo is that despite all of this, he remains humble. Thatâs what I admire about Samuel-- heâs hardworking and definitely has many things to be proud of especially with his achievements in his age, and yet he remains very humble to anyone and everyone. He doesnât show off, but when he does, itâs really out of his own understanding and achievement. His kindness his pure, he is softhearted himself, and heâs very likeable. He has a sense of knowing things quickly but heâs also innocent. He can definitely adapt easily to environments even though heâs quite shy in the beginning, learning along the way is what makes him feel more comfortable and blend in.Â
I see a very, very bright future ahead of him. This is only the beginning and heâs still young, so Iâm sure heâs gonna take up so many challenges, especially ones that catch his eye. Pretty sure heâs gonna be very successful along the way.
Mercury in Aquarius
Another placement I love from Samuel. Heâs creative, sensible, but also goofy! He probably has a lot in his mind and majority of them are conventional ideas, like future endeavors and always thinks forward. He loves getting new ideas out of the blue and always tries to show it (this depends on his rising sign as well, especially if for example he has an idea for a future concept + wants to explain it to his company). But heâs also likely stubborn (Aquarius is fixed) at times if people donât appreciate his efforts in his ideas, nonetheless he goes on and just embraces new ideas and opinions from others to reformulate the ones he already has. Can also be impatient, sliiightly inconsistent as it is sometimes.
Logical, objective, straightforward thinking. If he has one thing on his mind, heâs likely set to that thing and focuses on it without hindrances. Heâs got sense of loyalty on anything he wants to put focus on. This also shows how he is a quick learner and is able to understand things easily. This is such a good placement for Sammie because he is also open-minded and innovative, people would be very appreciative of his unique and eccentric mindset. Heck, I wouldnât even be surprised if he believed in aliens at some point.
Iâve met a couple people with Aquarius mercury and what Iâve noticed is that they have a very unique sense of humor. They can even be funny without even trying! Sometimes even their actions that seem like their usual self are what makes others find it humorous. Letâs be real, we see him overexaggerate at times (look at that gif up there). Yet we see this as funny or even adorable of him. There can be times where we see him restrict himself from doing so (his Capricorn sun is a square to Aquarius, his mercury sign, but it is not shown in his chart / the orb is not enough for a tight aspect). Nonetheless, I think his progressive mind is very compatible to his straightforward sun sign.
Venus in Capricorn
Heâs got a very good mindset and definitely has determination. He craves to get the best out of everything he does, so heâll put effort on that goal without worries. Heâll strive on getting on that goal, and he will always make sure heâs gonna succeed. Heâs a go-getter, so heâd definitely make sure he can get things right. With his Aquarius mercury that is much of a quick learner, heâs gonna be fast moving on his goals and heâd probably get there faster than anyone else. Even with his ideas, heâd put effort on making them into reality. Heâs also dependable and responsible, very nice traits to have especially in his area of work.
Considering all of this, our Sammie is likely the type to want to wait for a while when it comes to love. No, not by any means heâs got high standards (thatâs definitely personal preference, by the way), but he want to learn ahead first as he doesnât want to be seen as someone âwithout experienceâ when in love. People think that Capricorn venuses are also the type to be all like âwork before loveâ, which is possible. But heâs young, heâs definitely gonna fall here and there often, he just isnât sure of himself yet and may tend to test himself or someone he likes if theyâre willing to commit to him. He doesnât have time to joke around. He doesnât find it attractive, at least to his standards.
Also the best part, heâll always remain loyal. Like I said, he may tend to test the waters first before he can say heâs âreadyâ. Heâs young, heâs got time and lots of it. Heâll fall in love, heâd definitely get crushes, heâll get into relationships later on in life. But once he sees the apple of his eye, chances are heâs gonna befriend them first before he pursues them. However his Pisces moon can definitely show a slight tendency of being shy, which I find absolutely adorable.Â
Itâd be like a fairy tale when Samuel is your boyfriend. Heâs gonna be so loyal but also affectionate. May be slightly traditional, but his Aquarius mercury would definitely spice up the relationship (heâd probably think of very fun dates like going to the arcade, even doing adventurous stuff!). By all means, he can get a little strict but not in a very irritable way, but rather he is protective and wants you to be secured at all times.Â
Heâs gonna be very giving and also considerate. Maybe at times, heâll throw out his own needs for a while and puts yours first. The important thing, though, is proper mutual understanding. You both would need to be accepting of each otherâs positive traits and flaws. He can get emotional in a very subtle way, behind the public eye, so someone just as loving and understanding of him this way would be so benefiting.Â
Also heâs crushing on Blackpinkâs Jisoo. Jisoo is a Capricorn. If this ainât the cutest thing ever.
Mars in Pisces
Aha, another trait that is quite visible. Heâs rather shy especially because of his moon sign, even more with his mars sign. He can get slightly timid, sometimes having a hard time showing how angry he is. In fact, he probably hates the idea of getting angry and wouldnât want to suppress it all, even though he has to at times. Heâs got a lot of patience in him. Similar to Libra mars, he does not like arguing or anything that causes disruption. Heâs all about understanding, definitely the type to talk things out than go all rough housing--Â BIGÂ no no for our Sammie.
Heâs prone to daydreaming often and is quite sensitive, even the smallest judgment on him can slightly hurt him inside. His Capricorn placements make him show he is a strong character at times, but heâs truly and actually a softie inside. Very empathetic, helpful and always at service. Iâm afraid thereâd by times heâd be used for otherâs benefits, may tend to get dominated by others, or slightly shows he can be gullible so he needs to be careful of this.
However, this shows how committed he is to his dreams and aspirations. Along with his Capricorn placements, his drive is much more prominent than to most. He wants to make his dreams a reality and will work hard, even if heâs gonna have to go the long way. This is also how how he is in love.
Mars in Pisces males love the idea of falling in love. He has probably thought or even daydreamed a romance you see in dramas. When he gets in a relationship, chances are heâll put his partnerâs needs first before his own. Heâd be cooperative and willing to help them out all the way. However, this shows hows truly committed he is. This is why I said itâd be like a fairy tale when in a relationship with him.Â
Heâs going to be very loving, understanding, and would work hard for the relationship to grow and be like a learning experience for both of you. Heâs also gonna give endless amounts of support, always thinking that whatever you both want to do, you both should do it with your heart and proper ease of mind. Heâs gonna do his own thing, you can definitely do your own. Supporting each other is definitely a big thing for him.
Some aspects Samuel has that I have short explanations/interpretations of (and noticed):
Moon Square Saturn - may have experienced a bit of loneliness during childhood or was forced to have to be responsible/mature at an early age. (Being a trainee/part of then-Seventeenâs lineup at such a young age, debuting quite early)
Sun Sextile Mars - the honest and direct type, quite the type to be very into exercising, generally very good in health and is quite popular. also gives a very youthful appearance (baby face!! also shows how he is popular/friends with almost every PD101 trainee he communicated with)
Mercury Trine Saturn - persistent, great means of success, ideas and mindset is in harmony with what he truly wants to do in life, dependable, loyal, very much going to be good for business ventures (how he was very persistent on joining PD101 in the first place, likely also how he decided to go forward/debut right after it ended)
Mars Square Jupiter - excitable, innovative, fearless and goes straight to the goal, talent reaches great bounds yet these individuals may have struggled with goals throughout their life (1Punch debut/disbandment, PD101 finale)
alright I think I typed a lot? I suddenly had the urge to write something about him because I saw Leaving the Nest season with him and honestly he was such a fluffball I would make him my baby brother :(((( I hope you guys enjoyed~ I did my best and hopefully this information can be helpful for some. I may not be 100% accurate but I really did my best. Keep supporting our lovely Samuel everyone! Ciao

Destcember Day 8 - #17 Past Days
Samuels walked down the stairs in our new house and found me sitting in front of a photo album. He sat down next to me and asked me why I was looking at old photographs. I didnât know why, I just felt melancholy and needed the reminder of the way things were when I was a little girl. He put his arm around me and asked me to tell him stories about each picture.
I pointed to one of me and my mother dancing barefoot in the backyard with our red hair flying in the summer sun. âThat was one week before she died,â I told him. âMy mother was my biggest fan, but she was always sick. When I went out on dates she would wait up all night for me to get home. Weekend trips with friends made her miss me enough that she would cry as I walked out the door. She was my best friend.â
I paused for a moment, choking back tears. I realized I hadnât seen my mother in ten years. I was only seventeen when she died. âI remember watching her collapse in front of me while I was making dinner the same night after that picture was taken. Sheâd stopped breathing for a moment and the blow to her head from the fall caused internal bleeding, blocking her brain from functioning properly. By the end, she couldnât even see me. But she knew I was there at her side in the hospital up until the moment they pulled the plug.â Samuels hugged me and told me heâd never leave me.
My eyes fogged up with tears, and I found myself back on the battlefield outside Moscow, watching Samuels running toward me in the moment before I got shot. I scream his name as a bullet flies through his brain and he falls limp to the earth.
âSamuels!â I scream over and over until I feel someone shaking me. My eyes shoot open and I realize I was just dreaming. Cayde is leaning over me, and I can tell heâs concerned despite his face being the same no matter what.
âFaerie, are you okay?â he asks, stroking my hair out of my face. âYou were screaming and I was afraid it was something really bad like the Taken popped up or something. But then I realized you were screaming a name⌠Samuels.â
I can feel my face wet with tears, and I try to wipe them away in spite of the fact that theyâre still falling. Cayde sits me up next to him and strokes my hair, holding me softly and whispering, âShh, there, there. Itâll be okay. Iâm here. Youâre safe. Everythingâs fine now.â I calm down until my sobs become small, shuddering breaths. âFaerie? If you donât feel like talking about it, itâs fine, but who was Samuels?â Cayde asks, pulling me in a little tighter.
I take a deep breathe in before responding. âSamuels was my husband. He was a Private in the squad I was over in the military, but more importantly he was my best friend. He helped me with my depression and my fear of losing everyone I held dear. He knew my favorite song to listen to when I was sad was the old 21st century song âStopâ by Dalton Rapattoni. He knew I tried to kill myself multiple times before meeting him, but he never let it change the way he saw me. He knew family was incredibly important to me because they were all I had for a really long time.
âSamuels never met my mom, but when I told him about her, he would pretend like her spirit was in the room and heâd talk to her like she was still alive. He told me heâd never leave me when I told him the story about how I was there for her last moments. And then I made him suffer the same way⌠He was there in Moscow when⌠when I died.â
âIâm so sorry, FaeâŚâ Cayde said softly, leaning his head on mine. âIâm sorry⌠if I could take the pain away, I would in a heartbeat as you humans say. You donât deserve all the pain youâve gone through. But youâre not alone anymore. I know Iâm not always serious, but Iâll always be here even if one day all you need is just a friend.â
I thank my past self for agreeing to stay at Caydeâs apartment while the Iron Banner Tournament is happening. So much violence for sport is why I have been avoiding the Crucible. The attackers in Moscow were a terrorist group known to attack at random just for the fun of it, and Crucible brings back those painful memories.
I hug Cayde tightly, whispering, âThank you,â over and over again until Iâve calmed down completely.
âSince itâs already morning and weâre both awake, would you like some eggs, Faerie?â Cayde asks, making me laugh.
âOnly if you donât make me try every variation again,â I say with a small smile.
âIâll make a deal with you. I will not go overboard with the eggs if, and only if, you wear my cloak like a dress like you did that first morning because it looked really pretty like that.â
âDeal.â

A New Life (Sam Drake)
Hey!Â
Here is my latest Sam X Reader requested by utara-north ! Sorry if this took awhile Iâve been swamped with my classes lately since this semester is almost over. I hope everyone has a happy Friday night! :)Â
Characters: Sam x Reader
Warning: none
Word Count: 2,665
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ-
âIâll have a black coffeeâ
âUh, just water with lemon.â Sam turned to me a look of confusion on his face.
âYou okay?â His eyes were fixed on me as if I was a crazy person.
âYes.â I said adamantly
âWell Iâll have that right out for you two.â Our usual waiter disappeared back into the restaurant.
âWhy no coffee? We come to this place because you love their cappuccinos.â
âIâm just not in the mood today.â I shrugged casting my eyes back down to the menu that I already had memorized. Sam and I came here almost every Sunday for brunch. Other couples had date night but we did brunch on Sundays which then consisted of us going on a walk around town. We would window shop and then he would drag me to some museum or historical sight that had to due with his up and coming job. My favoriteâs were the art museums because Sam didnât usually have as much to say âArt speaks for itselfâ, he would always tell me. The two of us had been together almost 4 years now but we have been married 2. We started out as young lovers until life caught up with us and I was a full time college student and he was off doing what the Drakeâs do. I never thought I would see him again, he was always the one that got away until we stumbled upon each other at an art auction in Venice. To my dismay he dragged me into his heist and from then on I never looked back. Now itâs 4 years later and we are sitting here at our usual cafe, eating our usual food, talking about which stores I wanted to stop into and what historical sight he would be taking me to today. The only difference now is that Iâm pregnant with Samuel Drakeâs child and he had no clue.
âAre you listening?â I quickly looked back at Sam his brow furrowed in annoyance. He turned around looking behind him at the people walking past us and then to the cars passing by. âWhat are you looking at?â He questioned looking around in the warm summer air again as if he missed something.
âNothing, sorry I zoned out.â
âSo this is what it feels like when I donât listen.â Rolling my eyes he smirked that charming smirk of his. This was all to true.
The day was perfect, it was just the right temperature, the sun was out, we had gotten our favorite seat in the outdoor section of the restaurant, our food was better than usual. Everything was perfect, this would be the ideal moment to tell my husband I was pregnant but I just couldnât get myself to do it. I was scared. Sam and I never really talked about having a family, I just assumed it might not happen because he loved to travel and hated the idea of staying in one place for to long. I never pictured myself having kids and I know Sam was the same way, but now this was a reality the two of us had to face. I just had to tell him that his whole life was about to change.
âYou feeling okay today babe?â I turned to my lovely husband who had been complaining about the price of the shoes I had in hand.
âYeah, why?â I asked placing the box back.
âNo, no, no, youâre getting those I saw how your eyes lit up when you saw them.â Sam picked the box back up âItâs like youâve been in a daze all day, I feel like Iâve been talking to a wall.â
âSorry sweetieâ I kissed his cheek feeling his stubble against my lips. His toned arm wrapped around my waist stopping me as I tried to walk away.
âYou know avoiding the question isnât helpful.â
âThese heels are gonna look great with that little black dress of mine.â I mumbled against his neck not wanting to discuss this right now.
âMaybe you can show me when we get home?â I shivered as his voice became low and gravely. âThen after you can tell me what the fuck is wrong.â He stepped back looking at me seriously now.
âSamuelâ I warned. He knew how I was, yet he always pushed when it came to me being upset, almost like he needed to know.
âBabe, I worry.â His vice turned back to its normal tone no longer gruff.
âI know.â A sigh fell from his lips as I ran my fingers through my soft hair.
âCome, lets by the shoes then we can go to home.â
âNo museum?â I called after Sam as he walked to the register.
âIâd much rather see you in these heels and that black dress.â
My body felt limp and hot as I lay in my bed covers covering my naked body. I turned my head looking out the window at the beautiful summer day that was coming to a close. The sky was turning purple, orange peeking through the transparent clouds. It was humid in our small apartment our AC was broken leaving both me and my Sam in a constant sweaty state, even more so right now. This apartment is going to be too small to raise a child in, we are gonna have to move. Fuck, can we even afford to move? Do we have the proper finances to raise a kid, you know give them, it a good life. Am I gonna get fat? Shit, Iâm gonna get fat.
âThat was amazing.â Samâs sleepy voice mumbled against my ear as he pulled me closer to his warmth, our bodies intertwined. âWhat are you thinking about?â His voice was so hushed and loving I just wanted to cry out of frustration. Having a child is not something that can be taken lightly, our lives were going to change dramatically and itâs not like we had the choice to give it back if we didnât want to be parents anymore.
âAbout how much I love you.â I turned to face him seeing a little smile on his lips, his hazel eyes hidden from his drowsiness.
âHm, me too.â I could see the sleep taking over his rugged, handsome, perfect, tan, peaceful face. Wow, I love this man. Maybe having a child with him wonât be a bad thing. Â
âIâm gonna get started on dinner.â I kissed his face slipping out of bed. âYou can stay in here and rest I know youâre tired.â He grunted in response sleep taking over his body.
I couldnât help but admire his toned body along with his handsome face.
âNo stayâ He groaned out.
âSam-â
âFood can wait I want to hold you.â His offer was impossible to refuse. Crawling back into bed I laid there in his warm embrace our sweat soaked skin sticking together as our heart beats synched. He was the love of my life despite, the smoking, grumpiness when stressed, the distance when he was away for work, and the obsession with pirates, I still loved him endlessly. It took a toll but nothing could make this man anything but perfect. Another week went by and I found myself at the same restaurant in our favorite seats outside the summer air humid casing my hair to frizz. The only difference now was I was throwing up in the bathroom from morning sickness. I was walking back from the bathroom when I noticed Sam had ordered my drinks for me.
âYou okay? You look pale.â He didnât wait for a response as he quickly turned his attention to the drinks on the table âThey had mimosaâs as a special today so I got you one.â He smiled at me clearly proud of himself. I couldnât help the wave of guilt that came over my body. Sam was being so thoughtful, he knew I loved mimosaâs, well alcohol in general, but I couldnât drink while pregnant. âMaybe if I get you drunk enough Iâll get laid.â He joked as I took my seat.
âThank you so much sweetie, but Iâm not really feeling alcohol today.â I placed my hand on his but the smile on his face didnât falter.
âI had a feeling youâd say that so I ordered you a cappuccino too.â How did I get so lucky to have a man who thought this far in advance. âIâm really trying to get laid here.â His hand moved so he was now holding mine. His eyes were bright as the sun as he gazed at me making my body run hot.
âI, uh-â I took a breath âIâm not really in the mood for coffee eitherâ I shot him a guilty look as his face fell, all traces of happiness lost.
âAm I doing something wrong babe?â He searched my face for the answer because he knew I would lie.
âNo not at all! Youâre being such a sweetheart I just havenât had the same taste recently.â I squeezed his hand for reassurance.
âOkay good, youâve been worrying me. First you donât want coffee, then you didnât want eggs cuz the smell has been making you nauseous, and now you donât want alcohol. Itâs like your pregnant.â He laughed to himself. Sweat needed on my forehead at his words. I stared at him speechless. My face must have given me away because I watched as Samâs face fell. âWait youâre not pregnant are you?â My eyes began to well with tears as a dead give away.
âI uh-â Then the hot tears started to roll down my flushed cheeks. The summer air stung as my vision became blurry.
âWhoa, whoa, whoa, why are you crying!â Samâs chair scraped against the ground as he moved towards me. âDo you not want kids?â His voice was closer as he was by my side.
âSam I think we are making a scene can we talk about this later.â I pleaded trying to contain my light sobs. The feeling of his hand on my back gave me a slight sense of comfort but I was not ready to come face to face with Sam.
âAm I not suppose to be excited?â My head whipped to my husband who was kneeling beside pure joy radiating off of him.
âYouâre actually happy?â I whispered in disbelief. He laughed standing back up, placing a firm kiss on my forehead.
âOf course Iâm happyâ and with that he took his seat. âWeâve been married for 2 years I kind of assumed you would start wanting kids. I know I use to say that was the last thing on my mind but having a kid or two doesnât seem like an awful idea anymore.â Both of his hands were holding mine as I tried to gain my composure again. âAre you not happy?â His hands squeezed mine as if he was begging me to say I was.
âYes Iâm happy. Iâve just been scared to tell you.â I sighed feeling the weight of the world leave my shoulders.
âHoly shit, Iâm going to be a dad! How long have you known?â
âYou remember that day we went to Nate and Elenaâs and she told you I was crying because we watched a sad movie? Well while you and Nate were setting up the grill I told Elena I was late and she made me take a pregnancy test.â I shrugged not being able to look at Sam but I could feel his fiery eyes on me.
âThat was a month ago.â There was a long pause. âShit we are gonna have to get a bigger place!â He sat back in his chair, running his finger through his chestnut hair our eyes meeting again. âCan we get him a trampoline when heâs old enough. I always wanted one as a kid.â Once again my eyes filled with tears at Samâs words, I donât think realized how cute he was.
âYes of course we can! But he might be a she Sam.â I smiled unable to contain my joy at Samâs reaction.
âWhy are you crying?â concern filled his voice again.
âIâm just happy youâre happy.â
âOf course Iâm happy!â His words rang through my ears as the final confirmation I needed âIf its a boy we should name him Samuel and if itâs a girl then we can name her Samantha.â
âIsnât that just a little vainâ I laughed wiping my tears away. Sam grabbed my mimosa and quickly finished it in one quick swoop. âSlow down there mister if I canât drink you canât either.â His eyes widened in amusement.
âYouâre really gonna make me have the same diet as you while youâre pregnant.â
âYouâre suffering with me! You caused this!â I gestured to my stomach
âOh, cmon-â
âThat also means the smokingâs gotta go.â A smile spread across my lips as Sam reached into his back pocket and handed me his packet of cigarettes.
âItâs done. As of today itâs completely done.â Sam took out his wallet next and dropped a twenty on the table. âCâmon I wanna take you somewhere.â With that he stood up grabbing my hand and whisking me out of the restaurant.
I was still hungry but the curiosity of where Sam was taking me was out weighing the hunger. Wherever he was taking me was clearly not in walking distance because the two of us sat on the train heading towards the center of downtown. He had his arm around me as he told me all the amazing things he was going to do as a dad. We passed the stop that was suppose to be for downtown, now the train was taking us out of the congested part of the city towards the residential neighborhoods. The train pulled to a halt in an area I didnât know too well. Â
âCâmonâ Sam said as he grabbed my hand leading me off the train. We walked for awhile until he stopped us in front of a white rundown house with a for sale sign in the front yard. It had a large red sticker across the white sign that read âSOLDâ in big red letters. I looked from Sam to the two story colonial style house, butterflies filling my stomach. It was small and quaint with a decently sized front yard. The shutters were falling off and the paint was peeling. âI know it doesnât look like much but Nathan said heâd help me fix it up.â Turning to my husband I stared at him in disbelief.
âWhat?â
âI was planning on fixing it up. I wanted to surprise you for our anniversary.â I was speechless.
âYou bought me a house.â I stated deadpan.
âYeah, you said you always wanted a white two story house preferably colonial style with black shutters, a red door, and a yard you could grow flowers in, but you didnât want to leave the city. So here youâre still in the city but the residential part.â He paused staring at me for a reaction. âThereâs a bakery a few blocks away and a park a few blocks that way.â He pointed in the direction of the house âWhen he, or she, is old enough I could be their soccer coach or something dadish like that.â Turning to Sam I could see my future is his eyes. âDo you like it? I know itâs not-â Before he could finish his sentence I had jumped into his arms wrapping my own around his neck.
âThis is beyond enough! this is more than enough! You are perfect!â I pretty much yelled as his arms wrapped around my waist holding me up.
âI canât believe Iâm gonna be a dad!â His excitement boomed through the summer air. Pulling back I saw tears in Samâs eyes for the first time since our wedding day.
âWe are having a babyâ I whispered against his lips.
âWe are gonna be parentsâ his voice cracked

Episode 85 - A Bardâs Lament
i kinda already know a big thing that happens in this episode so iâve not been overly eager to watch
Grog pulling out a piece of paper with a G on it is so cute
âMorpheus is fighting Neo!â - excited for this fight
âits a test already! I hate the SATs!â
âthis is a nightmare, I just wanna hit him!â aww poor Travis looks like heâs breaking inside
âwith gentleness there comes clarityâ âI think you have to fuck him Grogâ
10d10 necrotic damage?!!! OH SHIT
Earthbreaker Groon catches Grogâs attack - âoh god its so awesome!âÂ
Vex asking if she should flash him and Keyleth saying âit couldnât hurt the rest of us either!â nobody on this show is straight, polymachina exists, everything is beautiful
âooo, he learned to be a dick!â
HDYWTDT!!!!!
GROG GOT POWER FROM KORD!
the knuckles are exalted now this is so cool!! enlarged resistance to cold, fire, and lightening? awesome
oh man that was so close! i wonder what would have happened if Grog had lost
its really interesting how the gods seem to be placing their favor on the various members of VM. the Vecna storyline is gonna be, if not next then very soon, a huge thing and having favor with the gods will be important. Iâd love to see more with Kord and Grog and with Melora and Keyleth. I wonder if/when Pelor will make an appearance or more of a presence, given that he is the deity connected with Whitestone
âhe did just take down an old man, so our streak against the elderly continuesâ
âkitten is the baseline hp counter in dungeons and dragonsâ
âif wizardry is Bob Fosse, druidism is Twyla Tharpâ - I just want to thank Marisha so much for this
Oh Scanlan. and Grogâs face when he finds out that Scanlan didnât hear his contribution.
Scanlanâs points are well made in regarding the knowledge of his parents and personal stuff about him from before VM formed, though heâd always deflect questions about his age. I know all these problems were a long time coming; as soon as Kaylie was introduced I figured Scanlan would have to make a decision at some point, and the pacing of the conclave arc kept him from really addressing it, but it really feels that key things have been going wrong for Scanlan the last few weeks. The others, Vaxâs most recently, treatment of him in that period of time did not help at all. When Matt made the point to describe how small Scanlan felt in comparison to the dragons, then Vax picking him up and putting him down I knew that was going to be a defining point. I see where Percy was going with the prank after Scanlan was revived, but that was just one more thing in Scanlanâs eyes.
Scanlanâs hurt for a lot of reasons, but many of them are him lying to himself in some way and then snapping out at the others so they hurt too. Lying about the reasons they were doing things. This argument and division is so painful and real, theyâre worse than friends theyâre family is right.
[watching this again and its just so real. its one of those big family blowups where everyone says exactly what hurts other people the most. also, Sam looks at his notes to make sure of Percyâs parents names I think]
I keep starting and stopping and starting crying. âI need to be a Shorthalt for awhileâ
Scanlan knows Percyâs parents names and Kaylie overheard everything
Grog gave Scanlan his salt lick rock. why is that so sad to me?
Grog going out to talk to Percy, wanting to send spies to keep an eye on the Shorthalts. I mean, obviously what Scanlan is going through, but this is a huge shake to Grog and itâll be interesting to see how he deals with it
âI know we donât always agree, and I know I can be unkind, but...you know youâre family right?â âI donât know much, but I do know thatâ âits nice having an older brother againâ Grogâs little smile at that!
aaaand thereâs the final bout of crying! lay me down and let moss cover me
I always sorta placed Scanlan in the role that Troy had on Community - the connection that held everything together. Since the aftermath of his leaving was really only missing a Norwegian troll doll on fire, I feel justified in my mental comparison
and a darkest timeline joke from Keyleth! Life got dark Vex!
Pike and Vax in fun buns is a cute image. except for the fact that theyâre hungover and miserable, but still
Grog trusting Pike, Scanlan, and Vex the most - and Vex because heâs seen her tits! then Vex asking if seeing them again would cheer Grog up! âits so touching and ridiculous at the same time!â
Keyleth asking the Sun Tree to watch over Scanlan and Kaylie
tree lag
OMG their reactions when they find out its Samâs new character! Laura trying to throw a tissue at him! [I went back and rewatched the Tary section, and as soon as Matt says they see a gold golem Travis quickly leans forward to stare at Sam suspiciously.]
Taryon Darrington. SAM. Sam what is that even. also, this character has a golem scribe ffs SAM.
ânew dadâs wearing old dadâs skinâ âI hate Tary heâs a dickâ; I love that you can tell when Laura is really upset at someone cause sheâll use their full name - âhow DARE you SAMUEL!â
âyou, little elf girl, whatâs your name?â SAM YOU ARE PLAYING WITH FIRE
I keep glancing at Matt cause the faces he is making are just ugh just, Sam and Matt are such little shits this is amazing and horrible and I love it
Tary is a rich prat who hunts for the trophies
âI donât like new people right now as of yesterday!â
âheâs like the worst alter ego version of Percy! heâs a rich kid who just buys all of his cool toys! no offense Percyâ
âDoty only listens to me. If you had some sort of pet youâd understandâ OMG âIâm gonna love Tary so much!â if Sam gets through this character without Laura literally killing him I will be surprised
ok the rod and the invisibility coin are super cool
....is this gonna be the second time they have randomly accidentally killed a normal citizen in AnkâHarel? first the lightening javelin now a crossbow bolt
THE CREW IS REVOLTING WITH NERF GUNS
that was awful and yet perfect. Sam looked way to fucking pleased with himself, Matt too frankly the little shits.

Dear Diary:
Spring 1, Year 586
A newcomer came to town today. Â I didn't see her until much later in the day, had to do some patrolling around the city gates when she arrived. Â When she introduced herself to me, I don't know how I can place it, but it almost was like being introduced to a long lost friend. Â It was strange. Â Her name is Freya. Â She said she was a relative to Samuel, the old timer that ran the farm down the hill ages ago. Â I'm glad someone's lives there down, but by the great Harvest Goddess does she have a fight on her hands. Â The land is such an eye sore with all the logs and boulders that had found their was down there, it would take a miracle in and of itself to see anything grow there. Â Let's hope her thumbs are just as green as her silky looking hair, she's going to need it. Â
Spring 2, Year 586
Patrol was just as boring as it always is. Â I know that I'm needed to keep the peace, but if the townsfolk are always so damn happy with one another, and we haven't seen conflict with the Northern Border in over 200 years, I doubt I'll be needed as the town's guard for much longer at this point. Â Even the monsters seem to keep themselves away from town, which is good. Â I don't think I could bring myself to hurt any of those cute little Fluffies.
Freya stopped by to say hi. Â I was a little shocked to see her, but I was more shock that she happened to have in her hands a piece of chocolate. Â I love chocolate! Â I wonder who told her I did? Â It could have always been that mosey gossip, he loves to spread information around town... and now that I think about it I think that's how the town stays informed with all the goings on. Â It doesn't matter though, I liked the gesture. Â I don't think anyone's ever just gone out of their way to give me chocolate before. Â ...Well, anything before, especially when it isn't my birthday. Â It's nice to feel appreciated for what I do around here, of what little I do anyway.
Spring 9, Year 586
Today was the Fluffy Sheering Festival! Â Oh it felt great to show off my abilities out there. Â We had to use equipment that was dedicated to ONLY sheering the wool off the Fluffies, but that doesn't mean my techniques were hindered in any way. Â If anything they were accented beautifully because I didn't have to spill any blood. Â I hate having to spill blood, if I can avoid it then I'd never have to do it. Â I don't think anyone could match my score of sheering twenty Fluffies in the five minutes we had, that just means I've still got it. Â I even saw Freya make an attempt this year. Â Good gal, I don't think she's ever held even a dagger in her life, but she didn't do half bad.
Speaking of Freya, she stopped by my patrol and offered me chocolate again. Â She's been doing this every day. Â It's strange, but I don't mind. Â She really is cute, and if she wants to keep giving me chocolate then I'm not going to argue.
Spring 29, Year 586
Today was my birthday! Â Everyone in town was so nice to me today, then even told me to not worry about patrolling today and relax. Â How can I say no that? Â But I have to admit it was a little boring, so I did it anyway. Â Everyone brought me gifts, it was really nice. Â Oh, and Freya gave me more chocolate today! Â I know it's really the same thing she has been giving me over the passed 27 days, but getting something you really like, especially on your birthday, is twice as great! Â I wonder what she likes? Â I should see when her birthday is too.
Summer 15, Year 586
Oh I feel like such an idiot. Â It was even a good day too. Â Freya came to see me again and give me some chocolate like she always does, and we got to talking a little more. Â It started out fine, she asked when I became a soldier and I told her. Â It was a rather refreshing conversation at first, but then she asked why I'd want to ever become on in the first place. Â I thought it was a silly question. Â Who wouldn't want to risk their lives to make sure others were okay... but when I think about it now, she did have a point. Â Why risk your life to fight for others when you don't feel comfortable fighting in the first place. Â I'm just being stupid. Â She just made me angry, and it makes me even angrier because I think I like her. Â We'll see what happens tomorrow when she gives me another chocolate, though I think I'll ask for her forgiveness first.
Fall 10, Year 586
I met with Freya tonight. After our daily ritual, I asked to meet her by the waterfall later in the evening, and I think I felt my heart skip when she agreed to. Â I told her everything, of why I became a soldier and why I felt I needed to protect this town to the best of my ability. Â I knew she wouldn't blow off my explanation as just another sad story, she seemed to be interested in me since she moved in, and I could tell right away she was the person to tell. Â She sympathized with me, telling me it was alright that I upheld my family name after my parents died, and that it was an honourable thing to do. Â I asked her if I should continue being a soldier, given what I feel right now about it, and she said I should listen to my heart... well my heart told me to hug her, and she liked it! Â I think I'll need time to think about this, but she is definitely going to be the first person I tell.
Winter 30, Year 586
I spent the night with her, with Freya. Â I was on Lovers Peak with Freya for the Starlight Festival. Â They looked so gorgeous in the crisp midnight sky. Â I couldn't believe she asked me of all people to join her. Â Doesn't she know what it means? Â Maybe she does? Â I feel like we've grown a little closer than we have been before, and maybe that's why she asked me to join her to watch the stars. Â I honestly can't think of anyone else I'd rather be with to be right here with, to wait until the sun comes back up and start a new year for us. Â A year.... Â I can't believe it'll be exactly a year since I've known Freya. Â Time definitely has gone by so fast. Â I know what to tell her, but it will have to wait until sometime after tomorrow, the New Year's Festival will be a busy time for everyone.
Spring 5, Year 587
I told her my decision. Â I'm going to give up being a soldier, and become a monster rancher. Â I know how to properly take care of one, and I'd prove that once again at the Fluffy Sheering Festival this year - if she doesn't beat me that is, she's been getting really great at combat. Â She's really supportive with the idea, and said she'd help me in any way to get the store off the ground. Â I was so elated. Â I knew she was the one I could tell her my decision, and would support it. Â I think she's the best one person I could have ever known. Â I think I love her.
Spring 6, Year 587
I haven't shown or told anyone yet. Â I've been vibrating all day I've been this excited. Â She came up to me today, and I thought she was going to give me a chocolate like she always does before one of our talks. Â But she didn't give me a chocolate, or anything sweet for that matter. Â I can barely write this properly. Â She gave me a Blue Feather! Â She wants to marry me! Â By the Harvest Goddess I can barely contain myself. Â I always had the assumption that she had feelings for me, and this proves it! Â And she wants to marry me! Â It's so hard to believe. Â I never thought I'd meet anyone as great as her, and now here we are! Â I can't wait, I want to be with her now! Â But... Â I have to wait the customary three days, and then... Â I'll be the happiest person in the world.
