Independent Senator and Democratic Candidate Bernie Sanders, the self-proclaimed democratic socialist making his second run for the White House, dropped out of the race today for the presidency, after a series of losses to Former Vice President Joe Biden, who now emerges as the presumptive Democratic nominee for the U.S. general election against the Republican incumbent, President Donald Trump. Sen. Sanders rise in popularity came during the 2016 presidential primary election against Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a moderate democrat, whom Sanders painted as out of touch and cozy to the billionaire class. Clinton later lost to President Trump during her run against him. In this 2020 primary, Sanders strongest support came early from young people and Latinos who galvanized behind his candidacy until the very end (though polling numbers showed that in key battle states like Michigan, Florida and Texas his supporters did not come out in larger numbers as was expected for the candidate). — Here are some photos of my coverage of Sanders’ candidacy during some of the stops he made in San Diego, California in 2019. — #berniesanders #berniesanders2020 #uspolitics #politics #archive #photojournalism #fotoperiodismo #documentaryphotography #uselection2020 #latinos #youngpeople #vote2020 #reportagespotlight #everydayeverywhere #sandiego #california #edca #everydaypolitics #everydayusa #everydaysocialjustice (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-ue5DUlALT/?igshid=hkt580xjhhxl

On Thursday, October 3, 2019, Senator and Presidential Democratic Candidate Elizabeth Warren, makes a stop in San Diego, California for a town hall. An estimated 8,500 people attended the event at Waterfront Park. Warren tells the San Diego crowd that she will fight for the middle and working class poor of the United States by taxing the wealthy to help them. As she reiterated her famous chant and “I have a plan for that too” as crowds cheered her on. — #onassignment #everydayusa #everydaypolitics #usa #2020 #presidentialpolitics2020 #politics #photojournalism #fotoperiodismo #downtownsandiego #documentaryphotography #sandiego #california #edca #everydayeverywhere #everydaysocialjustice #myfeatureshoot #reportagespotlight #nightphotography #lightstalker #elizabethwarren (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3NTb4CFI9K/?igshid=50gof8wphvix
