What are your 5 least favorite Legends ships?
What are 3 ships you don't have a strong opinion on?
What are your top 5 ships?
Least fave ships:
1. Zari/John. She deserves a gazillion times better.
2. Astra/Behrad. They do not make any sense to me whatsoever. They are polar opposites and not in a cute way. And Astra stands to lose everything she has, because whose side do you think the Legends are going to take when everything implodes, everybody’s fave little brother or person who tried to kill us a few seasons ago? (Obviously Spooner is the exception.)
3. Zari/Nate. Love them as friends. As a couple they are boring on a good day and actively bad on a bad day.
4. Gideon/Rip. He reprogrammed her against her will, sexualized her, FLEW HER INTO THE SUN, TURNED HER INTO A TRAINING SIMULATOR, MADE HER PLAY VIDEO MESSAGES OF HIS DEAD WIFE WHILE TELLING HER THAT HE LOVED HER…
5. Sara/any man Sara has ever chosen to sleep with. I fully support her bisexuality but my god does she have abysmal taste in men.
Ships I don’t have a strong opinion on:
1. Gideon/Gary. They are really cute together. It defies all logic. I don’t know what to do about that.
2. Ray/Kendra. I’m not mad at this ship, I just don’t get why it happened.
3. Charlie/Behrad. I have 2 strong opinions about this ship that cancel each other out. One is that this is absolutely terrible in every way. The other is that Behrad JUST replaced Zari the day it happened so it proves without a doubt that Zarlie is real.
Top ships:
1. Zari 1.0/Charlie. The chemistry. The sarcasm. The growth. The complexity. The softness. It is everything.
2. Spooner/Astra. Smol and tol. Murdery and murdery. They both let nobody in and yet they trust each other. They made a magic baby together. They don’t think they know how to love and yet they love each other so much. Meant to be.
3. Sara/Ava. They aren’t the most fun but they are the most canon. And they are beautiful.
4. Zari 2.0/Charlie. How to build sexual tension despite never being left together unsupervised 101.
5. Zari 2.0/Gideon. Another thing that exists mostly in my head but would have been fantastic.

watched legends of tomorrow 7.09 “lowest common demoninator” very funny and silly! when they started doing the handheld cameras i was like why is it handheld cameras now is this gonna be a horror episode? but then it turned out to be the cursed camera crew! it was fun seeing everybody acting out their issues in exaggerated ways. the conflict between zari and nate felt most contrived but they were both so funny to watch that i didn’t mind it. i liked that gideon had a moment where she was like ok time to turn off my emotions because it makes sense that that would be a temptation for her and now she has had that experience and knows not to do it again. also it was so funny seeing her cause drama. i enjoyed spooner getting naked and it not being a sexual thing but just purely tactical. she is such a weirdo and i like that this episode reminded us of that. sara was so silly and ridiculous in a way that she really never is so it was fun to see that. ava was less interesting to me because she was far less outlandish than the others, but i liked that it was a way for her and sara to figure out their issues of ava feeling pressured and underappreciated.
i really really loved the behrad stuff. it gives him much-needed depth. it’s a retcon, but a believable one. i liked that he saved the day by just being honest and vulnerable. that’s the best kind of heroic moment. and him deciding to be sober is interesting as well. his reliance on weed always made him seem somewhat immature, like the little brother of the whole team rather than just zari, and since he is putting that away it feels like he is kind of growing up. which is what we love to see on this show. i don’t care for the behrad/astra romance and i never will but i think the angle this show is coming at it from is a good one. it was lovely to see astra back in hell again and be reminded of just how much she has changed. she can still threaten and manipulate people but ultimately she refuses to commit any real violence and it is just nice to see how much more compassionate she is now and how she has grown.
i will say it felt a bit unfortunate to have an episode with this specific gimmick right after the episode about all the androids, because that means it’s 2 episodes in a row where the legends we’re dealing with aren’t the “real” legends. in this case they were obviously more the legends we know and love than in the android episode but still i missed seeing the characters as they actually are rather than when theyre being magically manipulated to act ridiculous. but you know it’s not a huge issue i think i’m just noticing it more because this is the final season however unintentionally and every moment with these characters feels precious to me. i have high hopes for the next episode, i’m sure it’s going to be wild.

AN: In light of recent events this feels like an important story to tell. Everybody's decisions around pregnancy and abortion is different and everybody should be allowed to make a choice that fits them and their situation it is a deeply personal thing to choose to get an abortion it is the right of people everywhere. The only person who should be making this decision is the pregnant person.
The reason I wrote the story is that abortions and being pro-choice are not discussed enough in fandom circles. Whereas I have read numerous stories about an unexpected pregnancy that are blatantly anti-abortion. The writers have chosen to use language such as referring to abortion as an unthinkable act, an act of murder, making the woman a murderer, it being heartless and callous to even consider it, and so on, but the reality is that the decision to have an abortion is a deeply personal one. You can’t judge someone for their decision, you can only make your own decision. Everyone's story and everyone's reaction to an unexpected pregnancy is different, and whether you have chosen to keep it or not is your choice and this is the choice that I have made for these characters.
Takes place in season 4.
……………………………………………………………………
“I feet like shit,” Nora announced as she walked into the lab holding her stomach with a grumpy expression.
Mona and Ava both looked up from their spots on the couch where they were setting up the wine and cheese platters for book club. Ray was out with Nate and Behrad for some bro time, and Nora was looking forward to some girl time of her own. She loved book club, but right now all she wanted was a nap.
“Come here,” Ava said, gesturing to Nora from her spot in the pile of pillows on the carpet.
Nora slowly made her way over and laid down next to her as Ava scooted closer and Nora moved to lay her head on Ava’s chest.
“Cuddle party, I want in,” Mona said, dropping the book she was holding and running over.
“You’d better take Nora’s other side or Sara will be jealous when she and the others get back with the snacks,” Ava added even though Mona had already moved to be Nora's big spoon.
“She can share,” Nora pouted, nuzzling Ava and relaxing as Mona held her.
“What's wrong?” Mona asked as she started to run her fingers through Nora’s hair.
Nora sighed, she wasn’t sure what it was. “I’ve just been so tired and nauseated and my stomach is cramping so I think I'm getting my period, but this has been going on for a couple of days now.”
“Oh my god, what if you're pregnant,” Mona said, sitting up and staring down at them.
“You always go straight to pregnancy. You even thought Sara was pregnant a few weeks ago after she puked while cleaning out Mick’s month old leftovers and she’s dating a cis woman!” Ava said, giving her a look and throwing up her arms while gesturing to herself.
“You never know what could happen and we all got our periods last week except for Nora. You've admitted to occasionally forgetting your birth control and no one else has the flu.”
They both looked at Nora who shrugged, but her mind swirled with the possibility. A pregnancy? A baby? It did make sense and it was all she could think about as she stared off into the distance.
Ava looked like she was about to say something else, but cut herself off when they heard the door to the lab open. Nora buried her face in Ava's chest even though it was just Sara, Charlie, and Zari. As Nora was getting used to expressing her emotions, she always ended up wearing them on her face and she wanted to have time to process this alone.
“Hey, my Ava!” Nora heard Sara shout.
“You can share,” Ava said, taking one hand off of Nora's back, probably to offer it to Sara. “Come here.”
Nora didn't have to look up to know that Sara had an adorable little pout of complaint; it brought a smile to her face knowing how ridiculous her friends were. She didn't hear Sara's response, but did feel it when she laid her head next to Nora’s. Ava moved Sara’s head away so they could each settle on Ava’s chest. Once Sara was settled they all started talking about whether they wanted to read or just talk and watch a movie. Nora secretly hoped that it was the latter. She half listened to the conversation and thought over what Mona had said.
Nora knew two things for sure. She was late and she was sick, and not just a few days late, a whole week late. Even though her period hadn’t always been regular for her, she hadn't skipped it since she had started birth control and usually, it was only a few days late. Nora quickly looked up pregnancy symptoms on her phone and found that she had almost all of them: morning sickness, lightheadedness, frequent urination, abdominal cramps, fatigue, and breast changes.
There was something inside her that just told her that this was a real possibility, she could take a test, but Nora knew there was another way she could know. She closed her eyes and focused on her magic as she explored her own body. Sure enough, she felt something, the tiniest of changes, a little something extra, an extra part of her growing inside her. As soon as she felt it, she knew. Nora set up quickly, which was a mistake as it made her dizzy and nauseous, but she pushed it away and looked over at Mona and Ava.
“I’m pregnant.”
“You’re pregnant?” Charlie asked, sitting up and looking over at her with wide eyes.
“I think so, I just felt something with my magic and...” Nora trailed off hardly believing what was happening.
“Nora.”
Ava’s voice brought her out of her head as Ava put her hand on Nora’s shoulder. Ava sat up and Mona moved behind her and placed her arm around her. “Why don’t we go to the Med-Bay and have Gideon scan you, okay?”
“Okay.”
……………………………………………………………………
All four of the women and Charlie piled into the Med-Bay. Nora sat down in the chair and after a quick scan from Gideon, she confirmed the pregnancy.
“From the date of the last day of your menstruation, Miss. Darhk, you are five weeks and 2 days pregnant.”
“I wanna see it,” Nora said, the process of actually being pregnant was so foreign to her and she wanted to see indisputable proof.
“Would you like a comprehensive full display scan, a 3D scan, or a 2D black and white ultrasound?”
“The black and white is fine, thanks, Gideon.”
Gideon started the scan over her abdomen and displayed a grey image with a black spot in the middle. It was so tiny, Gideon zoomed in a little bit more so they got a better look, but it was just black with the little grey outline of a bubble that was supposed to be the baby, but it wasn't really much of anything. Certainly, not a baby, or at least Nora didn't think so, but Nora didn't really want to think about it being a baby. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to be pregnant at all, but she was.
“I'm pregnant,” Nora said, the words finally sinking in as she sat up and swung her legs around to sit over the side of the chair.
“It's going to be okay,” Mona said, coming over as she and Ava sat down next to her. Each of them put an arm around her, making her feel a little bit better because she knew she didn't have to face this on her own.
“But what am I supposed to do?” Nora asked, looking between them.
“You can do whatever you want to do,” Ava reassured her.
“And how do I know what that is?” Nora asked as she began to freak out.
“I don't know,” Ava said, squeezing her shoulders. “I'll never be in your position, you know I don't have a uterus, so I can't offer much, but I know that you are not taking this lightly and that you'll figure it out.”
“But how?” Nora said, getting up and pacing the length of the room. “This isn't exactly planned and I don’t really want to be in the situation right now.”
“So don't be,” Charlie said, letting the words hang in the room.
“So I could just have an abortion, right now?”
“If you wanted to,” Charlie said, looking around at all of them before continuing. “I was pregnant once. A long, long, time ago, way before I stopped having a uterus in whatever form I chose. I think that was the last time I had a uterus, after that, I just didn't bother with it.”
Charlie gave a little shrug before continuing. “For me it was easy. I just shifted my form into one without a uterus and it all went away, so I continued on with my life. If I would have kept it, it would have been a demigod. I know it was the right decision because I wasn't ready for that responsibility and I don't think I'll ever be ready. I don't want kids and it sucks to be brought into a world and raised by someone who doesn't want you. I wouldn't wish that on anybody, let alone my own offspring.”
Nora thought about what Charlie said, she didn’t want any future children to ever feel unwanted. For now, she felt she could go either way. Nora looked down at her stomach and imagined it ballooned out with a full term baby. “And what if I wanted to keep it? What would that look like?”
“I don't really know,” Zari said, looking over at Nora in a tone that was more serious than she had ever heard from the influencer. “But you could talk to my mom if you wanted to. I was not planned. Both of them were really young at the time and newly married. They hadn't quite figured everything out in their own lives, much less trying to figure out how to raise a child, but they made it work. They were lucky enough to be able to buy a house and they took all sorts of baby related classes and read books and lots of my family members helped out. It wasn't without its sacrifices, my father worked extra hours and my mother put her own career on hold. If it was me, I would keep it. I just don't think I could go through with an abortion. I've always wanted kids and regardless, I'm emotionally and finically ready for them, but that's me, and you have to make your own decision about this.”
Nora looked up at Zari and thought about what she said. She and Ray could make it work, Ray would love to be a dad and he would adore their child, but it wouldn't be without sacrifices.
“We wouldn't be able to stay here on the Waverider and I don’t know if I could continue to be a fairy godmother. We’d have to settle down. I don't know if we could continue to time travel. I know how much Ray loves this life and I’m constantly being pulled away as a fairy godmother to help out other kids. I love working with them and think of them as my own kids temporarily, but it’d be different if we had an older kid. They would be in school and we could do the nine-to-five thing and then come home and have a family. With a baby, you'd have to find care for them and they need you so much. I don't know if I want that.”
Nora looked around at all of them, but none of them looked at her with pity or with sadness. They all nodded and she knew they would support her decision.
“If you want to have an abortion you can have it here. Gideon can provide you with either a medical abortion or with the pills. It's hard either way, you're going to want to take some time off, trust me.” Sara said as she looked over at Ava. Ava reached out for her and Sara took a step towards her. She took Ava’s hand and Ava gave her a little smile before Sara continued. “I know because I had an abortion when I was 23.”
“You did?” Nora asked, looking up at Sara who looked away from Ava, and back at Nora, with a nod. “What was it like? I mean, are you okay sharing?”
Sara nodded again and Ava pulled Sara in to sit in between her legs and wrapped her arms around Sara’s waist. Sara smiled as Ava kissed her shoulder and she relaxed against Ava.
“A few months after being taken in by the League of Assassins, I got pregnant after a one night stand, this was before I was with Nyssa. I didn’t want to be pregnant so I got an abortion. There was no room in my life for a baby and I was in a dark place, but I do sometimes think about what it would have been like to have a child back then. Lord knows the League of Assassins was no place to raise a child, but if I had gone back home and kept it, who knows what my life would have looked like? I knew then, that I wasn't in the best place to raise a child. I knew then that I didn't want to keep it and looking back, I know I made the right decision,” Sara said, looking up from where she was staring at her and Ava’s hands to look at Nora.
Nora nodded, taking in what Sara said. “What was the abortion like?”
“Nyssa and I went to China where I was able to get the abortion. There were two abortion pills, I took the first at the clinic, but I didn’t start bleeding until I took the second medication a few hours later after we got back to the place we were staying. Then I passed the pregnancy. The abortion itself was painful, like a heavy period with a lot of cramping and I was really sick and nauseous. The pregnancy came out in chunks of blood and tissue, it was hard, but it was over in a few hours and then, I just bled like I would have with a normal period. It took me a couple of days to recover and even then, I took it easy because I was still bleeding. I had a follow up appointment to confirm the abortion and to check that I was okay and after that, it was all over…”
Sara trailed off, closing her eyes for a second and relaxing against Ava before looking back over at Nora and continuing. “I just felt so relieved, so relieved that I didn't have to worry or figure out what to do and all those things that come with having a kid. I don't regret it, I know I made the right decision and that’s what you have to decide. What is the right decision for you? The choice to have an abortion is one you have to seriously consider, but so is the decision to have a kid. The kind of changes you would have to make to have a kid, they're big ones, your whole life changes.”
Nora nodded, taking in everything that Sara had said. Just hearing Sara talk about her experience and what the process was, helped Nora understand it. She looked over at Mona, the only person who hadn't said anything yet. Mona was one of her best friends and Nora valued all of her advice. Mona had been the one to help her develop a relationship with Ray and she wouldn't have the wonderful life she did without Mona.
“Mona, do you have anything to add?”
“Not really,” Mona said, with a shrug. “I got diagnosed with infertility when I was 15 so the pregnancy stuff has never been in my future and I've made my peace with that. If it was me and I was pregnant, I would keep it. I would feel like it would be my one chance, but this isn't your one chance Nora, and my decision wouldn’t be yours. You can have an abortion now and choose to have another baby later if that's what you want. I know that whatever decision you make it will be the right one for you, but I think that you should tell Ray. He loves you, and he will support you in whatever decision you make. You're gonna want him by your side throughout the process and you know that he will dote on you, he always has.”
“Mona’s right,” Sara added, putting her hand on Nora’s knee. “This isn't something you should go through on your own and having your partner there with you makes a world of difference.”
Nora knew they were right, she should tell Ray. The two of them were partners and the only thing that Nora wanted was to have him hold her and she knew that he would be there for her unconditionally.
Hearing all the women and Charlie's stories helped her know what would be the best decision for her right now. She had made up her mind. Nora stood up and turned around to look back at them. “Thank you guys for everything, for being here for me, and for helping me know my options. Right now, I think that an abortion is what’s best for me. I'm just not ready for a baby, and you're right I should talk to Ray. I want him by my side and I know he will support me.”
Mona smiled at her and pulled her in for a hug as Nora melted in her arms.
“Group hug!” Charlie shouted and they all pulled in. Nora got a little squished, but it was always worth it. She’d never gotten hugs like this before she stepped on the ship and she treasured every one of them. It was the little things that made her feel loved.
Once they parted Nora looked up at the ceiling, a habit among the crew when they talked to the resident A.I. “Gideon, can you call Ray and tell him to meet me in our bedroom?”
“Of course Miss. Darhk.”
……………………………………………………………………
Nora fidgeted with her hands as she waited for Ray to portal into their room. She had some idea of what she wanted to say to him, but she wasn't sure how to break the news to him without him initially being excited.
They had talked about kids a little bit and he was open to a future with kids after they got married. He talked about how excited he would be for a baby, but he knew Nora wasn't totally sold on the idea yet and they had agreed to keep talking. He respected her boundaries and agreed to wait. When they talked about the future Nora was sure that she wanted to marry Ray Palmer and she was open to the idea of one day starting a family with him. However, they hadn't been dating very long and she didn't want to rush into things because they had to. She wanted to take things slow and give herself and Ray time to plan out their life together.
However, she didn't have time to dwell on that anymore as the portal opened and Ray stepped through. Behind him, She could see the hallway of Constantine's house and hear the other guys laughing and talking, but the portal quickly closed. He had a concerned look on his face as he stepped towards her and the fact that her face mirrored his expression, caused the lines and his forehead to deepen.
“Hey, Gideon called and said that you had something you wanted to tell me?” Ray asked as he walked over to her.
“Um, yeah I do,” Nora said. She couldn't bear to look at him and look down at her hands, fidgeting with her fingers.
Ray put his hands over her, taking her hands and holding them as he gave them a reassuring squeeze. When she looked up, she saw that he had kneeled in front of her. “Nora, is everything okay?”
“No, no, it's not,” Nora said, shaking her head. “I’m... I have.... I'm going to tell you something, but I don't want you to get excited because... because we can't keep it… I don't... I don't want to keep it.”
Nora stopped to take a deep breath and tried to calm her nerves. Ray’s look of confusion only deepened. He tilted his head in a way that meant he was trying to figure something out. “Nora whatever it is, if it's making you feel like this then, of course, I won't be excited. I don’t want anything that makes you this upset.”
Nora just shook her head and decided just to tell him. “I’m pregnant.”
“Oh? Oh!” Was all Ray said as Nora looked down. “So you don't want to keep it, you want to get an abortion?”
“Yes.”
“Okay.”
Nora paused, unsure if she had heard him right. Nora looked up to see him still staring at her, still with a look of deep concern for her. He reached up to hold her face.
“Nora I know we’ve talked about having kids, but if you want to terminate it, then you should,” Ray said, his words were soft and gentle and full of understanding.
“So you’re okay with this?” Nora asked, still unsure. “You’re okay with us not having a baby right now? It’s just that I know that you love your life here on the Waverider and I love my work and we wouldn't be able to have both with a baby. They would need at least one of us 24/7 and we can’t give them that, without some big sacrifices.”
“Of course, I'm okay with this Nora,” Ray said, punctuating his words as he squeezed her hands. “If you aren't ready for this, then it's not something we have to do. Besides, I'm not ready for this either. I mean, our lives are crazy right now. I'm off chasing villains through time and you're constantly being pulled away to help your fairy godchildren. I mean, we don't even have a room for a baby, we haven't read any pregnancy books, let alone any baby books, and we'd have to change everything, we’re just not ready.”
Ray let out a deep breath and Nora could tell that he had gotten worked up just thinking about it. Nora pulled him in close and kissed his lips. She melted into him and let him pull her close and wrap her up in a big bear hug. His hugs always made her feel safe, and warm, and wanted. She felt at home in his arms. They shifted so that he could sit against the headboard and she could curl up in his lap with his big arms around her.
“For now,” Ray said, breaking the silence. “What are we going to do about this pregnancy? You said you wanted to terminate it, when do you want to do that?”
“Now, kind of,” Nora said, taking in a deep breath before letting it out. “I just, I don't want to be pregnant.”
“Okay,” Ray said, kissing her head.
Ray didn't make any signs to move and just kept hugging Nora, holding her close and Nora let herself relax for the first time since this whole thing started. Nora just breathed in Ray’s sweet scent. Eventually, they got up and made their way to the Med-Bay.
“Hello, Mr. Palmer and Miss. Darhk,” Gideon greeted them with her usual cheerful tone. “I'm aware of your decision and have everything set up for you. How would you like to proceed? As you are aware, there are two options for an abortion.”
“Can you do the procedure, Gideon?” Nora asked while staring at the chairs. “I just want it out.”
“Of course, Mrs. Palmer,” Gideon said as a drawer popped open to their left. I'll just have you change into a gown and I'll have everything set up for you in the chair on the left and the door to the Med-Bay has been locked.”
“Thank you, Gideon,” Ray said as he put his hand on Nora's lower back and led her to the drawer.
He pulled out the gown and held it up for her. There was nothing special about it, just an ordinary white and blue polka dot hospital gown with a pair of socks.
Nora quickly got changed and sat down on the chair. Neither of them was sure how this would happen and Nora reached out and grabbed Ray’s hand. He put both of his big hands over hers and gave her a reassuring smile. A door opened in the wall and a machine came out and stopped at the end of the chair which split with stirrups as Nora’s legs dangled in between them.
“Alright Mrs. Palmer, please lay back and put your legs into the stirrups. I'll be giving you a light anesthetic and then we will begin, you will be awake throughout the procedure, and you will have to stay in the Med-Bay for a few hours afterward. It’s just until you're recovered from the anesthetic then you can go back to your room. I'd advise that you take it easy the next 24 hours and only return to physical activity once you feel up to doing so. Captain Lance has already asked Mr. Constantine to cast an anti-magic spell around the ship so you will not be pulled away during your recovery and rest assured Mr. Constantine is unaware of the circumstances.”
“Ready?” Ray asked.
Nora only nodded as he placed the medical cuff over her left hand and the machine buzzed to life at her hips. Ray gave her hand an extra squeeze and Gideon told her that she was staring.
……………………………………………………………………
A few hours later Nora was back in her own bed, cuddled up with Ray, and watching ‘Singing in the Rain’. She was still a little out of it from the sedative, and lazily watched the movie. The girls and Charlie had all stopped by to check in and deliver her favorite meal, a veggie pizza with fresh chocolate chip cookies and milk, all gluten-free of course. The nausea from the anesthetic still hadn't quite passed so she pushed the plate away and turned to roll back and look up at Ray who was spooning her.
“How are you feeling?” Ray asked, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead before she could answer.
Nora took a moment to enjoy his kiss, his touch, and his arms around her. It was the little things like this that she enjoyed most about being with him, how sweet he was with her, how kind and caring, and how he put her needs first. She's never really had someone in her life that did that for her before without expecting something in return, and she was so appreciative of it.
“Good, but tired,” Nora said, looking up at him. “Thanks.”
“Of course,” Ray nodded, pulling the blankets up to tuck her in. “Do you want to shut the movie off and take a nap?”
“Yeah.”
He nodded and reached for the remote, shutting off the TV, and asked Gideon to dim the lights. He took their plates and the leftovers back to the kitchen and then came back to cuddle in her arms. Nora rested her head on his bicep and curled her fingers into his shirt as they settled in.
“How are you feeling emotionally?”
“Honestly, I just feel relieved not to be pregnant anymore,” Nora said, letting out a breath.
“Good, I’m glad you're feeling okay.”
“We did the right thing,” Nora said as she closed her eyes. “Thank you for supporting me in this.”
“I’m always going to support you,” Ray said as if it was nothing. “I love you Nora and I want you to be happy and comfortable. I would never make you do something you didn't want to do or put your body through something you weren't 100% on board with.”
Nora teared up at that and hugged him tighter. “God I love you, Ray Palmer.”
“And I love you too, Nora Darhk,” Ray said, leaning down so he could give her a kiss. It was soft and she lingered on his lips before she settled back into his arms. Happy and content.
……………………………………………………………………
Nora walked up the steps of the parlor with Ray’s hand on her lower back. He had paused on the lower step and when she turned around they were now closer in height. Ray leaned in and kissed her cheek before taking a step back and waving to her. “Text me when you're done and I'll come to walk you back to our room.”
Nora heard some giggles from the others behind her but ignored them. Ray had been doting on her a bit more in the past week and honestly, Nora didn't mind it at all. She still wasn't feeling 100% back to normal and it was nice to know that he was there for her. So she just blushed and waved back to him.
“Sounds good.”
Ray waved one more time before walking away and Nora turned around to face the rest of them waiting for her for book club night. When she turned around all of them greeted her with hi’s and hello’s and rushed in to hug her.
It had only been a week since her abortion and all of them offered to postpone and made it very clear that Nora was under no obligation to attend. However, Nora wanted to get back to her life and was eager to see her friends. Nora was also looking forward to hearing one of Mona’s excited rants as apparently one of her favorite writers just dropped a new book. Mona had spent the last 24 hours reading and rereading it and was now overly excited to talk about it.
“I'm so happy to see you,” Mona said, getting to her first and pulling her in for a hug that was just a little too tight, but Nora wouldn't have it any other way.
As soon as she was done Ava pulled her in for a hug as well and soon all of them piled in for a group hug. When they all settled down Ava made sure to pour her a glass of wine and clinked their glasses together, like she always did. Nora relaxed back into her chair, happy to be around her friends again.
“How are you feeling?” Sara asked, reclaiming her spot on Ava’s lap.
“Good,” Nora said with a smile. “I wanted to thank you all for telling me your stories and helping me through this process. You never once told me what I should or shouldn't do and you encouraged me to do what was best for me and my situation and I want to thank you for it.”
All of them responded, that of course they were happy to help and Nora looked around at all their smiling faces. She had never had so many friends before and felt so lucky to get such great ones.
“Okay, but can we please talk about this new book?” Mona asked, practically vibrating with excitement.
“Yes, Mona, what did you think of it?” Nora asked, taking a sip of her wine.
“Well, first of all, I can't believe the author kept the fact that he was a vampire a secret for the first half of the book. It kinda felt like it just came out of nowhere, but then I looked back and was like, of course, he was a vampire.”
“And it's not like other vampire novels, which was a good relief,” Sara added, leaning forward so much that if not for Ava’s hands around her waist Nora was sure she’d fall onto the floor.
“Yes,” Mona said, jumping up.
“Okay, but if they were vampires then how did he survive the hotel fire in chapter 3. Because later in chapter 11, he said that the only way to kill a vampire was to either stab them or burn them?” Zari asked, gesturing wildly with her hands knowing it was the only way to get their attention.
Nora caught Ava’s smile as she gave Nora a wink as they watched Sara and Mona fuel each other’s excitement. They laughed together at their infectious excitement and drank more wine. Mona and Sara continued to talk over each other and excited voices about the book while Zari and Charlie occasionally chimed in with their own input and Nora let her mind wander.
She hadn't realized that she was still smiling until her cheeks began to ache. She was so happy and Nora knew that no matter what life threw at her, as long as she had Ray and her friends, she would be happy.

The thing about I love about Legends it that every character is very well outlined and three dimentional. We know so much about everybodys relationships, families, hobbies, motivations ect. Having said that I would like to see a bigger storyline for Behrad. This is a character I've liked since he was introduced, but he never was in my top 5 faves and I think partly because he seems to be the most sidelined from all the Legends.
Yeah, you’re right. They manage that surprisingly well considering the huge cast. Back in s5 it was because he wasn’t a main character… In s6 he was the focus of episode 9 which was something at least. Since everyone is supposed to wear the captains hat this season at least once, I have hopes we will get another Behrad focused episode this season. Regardless I love him very much and enjoy every scene he is in. He makes them so much better. Like him casually telling Ava that Sara will be fine cause she is a half-alien ninja last episode? He didn’t even look up from what he was doing. lmao.

John x Zari Drabble
So as I was rewatching that part in “I Am Legends” where everybody was dying, I noticed how John was throwing the zombies off of Zari while she was curled on the floor and I couldn’t help but wonder what their last moments were like from his POV. Bear in mind, I literally wrote this at 1 AM. I’m sorry in advance.
John watched the Legends—his family—fall one by one at the mercy of bloodthirsty zombies right before his eyes. It all happened so fast he barely had time to register what was happening.
As the zombies shoved him aside to go devour his friends, John made a split second decision to not to let Zari Tarazi die. He almost lost her once by his own fault; he was not going to lose her again.
As Charlie made a beeline for the open portal, John threw the zombies trying attack Zari off of her, who was curled in a ball on the floor. He summoned his depleting strength to ignite his hands, burning the undead bastards to a crisp. Quickly, he lifted Zari to her feet and grabbed her arm, dragging her along as he cleared a path with another stream of flames from his hands, heading straight for the backroom he and Zari were in just before all hell broke loose.
Once inside, John barred the double doors shut with the first thing he saw: a broom handle. He knew it wouldn’t hold the zombies for long, but he’d exhausted all his energy required to perform a locking spell.
“You alright, love?” John asked, searching Zari’s torn clothes for zombie bites. She appeared unharmed but it was difficult to tell in the dim light.
Zari doesn’t answer his question. She glanced warily at the shaking doors as the zombies tried to claw their way inside. Her gaze switched to John, eyes wide with terror as she whispered, “What do we do, John?”
John’s eyes softened as he watched Zari’s bottom lip tremble and tears began to escape her eyes. She flinched when the zombies punched through the rectangular glass windows in the doors, shoving their arms through. John could hear the doors beginning to splinter and broom handle straining, knowing it was going to snap at any moment and the zombies would force their way into the room. They didn’t have much time.
There was so much John wanted to tell Zari in that moment. He wanted to apologize for being such an ass towards her, to take back what he said about her being superficial, to tell her how much their passionate encounter in this very room really meant to him. But the words died on his lips. He realized he was afraid, though not for himself.
He was afraid to lose her.
There couldn’t have been a worser time for John to realize the true extent of his feelings for the beautiful influencer, who was so different from him and yet somehow reminded him what it was like to feel something deeply for another human being again.
The chances of John and Zari holding off the zombies by themselves were practically impossible. Admitting this felt like a punch to John’s gut.
Instead of responding to Zari’s question, all John could manage to do was take her trembling body in his arms as she began to cry.
The zombies continued banging on the doors, their efforts intensifying. John shielded Zari’s view as she tried to look, letting her bury face in his shoulder.
“Forgive me, Behrad,” Zari said, the sound muffled by John’s coat. He heard her clearly and his heart nearly shattered.
John held the back of Zari’s head, stroking her hair. “It’s alright, love,” he told her softly, lying through his teeth as he tried comforting her in what was likely her last moments. “It’ll be over soon.”
He would protect her for as long as he could, until he was too weak to do so. He owed her that much.
Seconds later, the broom handle snapped and the doors burst open, allowing the tide of zombies to surround them.

Laurel Sharpe-Lance
((One of my Arrowverse next-gen kids.))
Full name is Laurel Sharpe-Lance.
Superhero name is Nightingale.
She’s the younger twin, but she doesn’t like to talk about it, specifically because RQ does like to talk about it, too much.
The only one Sara was with when she went into labor was Mick.
Though he f r e a k e d out at first, he actually handled it okay and got Sara to a hospital.
He will deny he cried when he was made baby Laurel’s godfather.
Where RQ is a momma’s boy, Laurel is... not as much.
She loves her moms but has a special connection with John. He first figured out she had magic and taught her to use it without hurting anyone.
Magic lessons made her super close with John and Gary and not as much with Ava and Sara.
Still, she never says no to cuddles where Ava and Sara grab both twins after a stressful mission and hold them until all 4 fall asleep.
Besides her moms and Constangreen, Laurel’s favorite growing up is Mick.
She loves Auntie Charlie, Auntie Zari, Uncle Behrad, Uncle Ray, etc., but none of them have the raw nonchalance about her magic that Mick does.
He’s the only one who will just shoot a little stream of flames at her (the heat gun on low power) so she can practice shields or just randomly ask her if she can summon him a snack.
By the time she’s 10, Laurel is tired of everyone treating her like a little kid, like magic is something that should only be used as a last resort, because at this point, magic is like breathing to her.
Mick doesn’t do that. For him, magic is just another part of her and he loves his goddaughter even if she summons Bloody Mary in rear view mirrors just to watch her get hit by a car.
For the record, Sara also finds that hilarious, but moving on.
Laurel is really close with Calliope because Calliope gets it. They have girl talk a lot and do joint spells that neither of them are strong enough to do alone.
Those two, being two magical kids on one timeship, are a special kind of chaos once Laurel discovers her magic at age 6.
When they end up in the past, Sara and Ava don’t really understand why they’re having trouble getting through to Laurel.
It’s because when she was little, Laurel knew she was different but they didn’t believe her until John confirmed it.
To be fair neither of them had experience with kids yet. Their only real experience, in fact, was babysitting baby Arthur once when Nora and Ray couldn’t get anyone else to watch him.
Eventually they talk it through and they promise not to make the same mistake when they raise her in this timeline.
In the future, Laurel has a bit of a *ahem* thing, with Amaya’s great-grandson, Zaire Jiwe. (Kuasa’s (mainly because I know nothing about Mari) son.)
By which I mean they run into each other on missions way too often and flirt A LOT but refuse to have a goddamn normal conversation.
Kuasa was never close with the rest of the heroes so Zaire grew up separately from the others and Laurel doesn’t know who he is beyond ‘the Fox.’
RQ is past being overprotective brother and is now just frustrated with them like oh my god can you talk to each other without flirting but never acting on your feelings ONE TIME?!
Instead, Zaire and Laurel just flirt even more obnoxiously to annoy him while internally freaking out like holy shit does he/she actually like me back???
Sara doesn’t tell Laurel she knows who he is cause she’s an overprotective mom.
And Ava is oblivious and doesn’t even know that Laurel likes him.
Maaaaybe Laurel will find out who he is and maybe she won’t. ;)
Whenever they are around together Laurel Lance and Laurel Sharpe-Lance are called Big Laurel and Little Laurel.
It’s a little awkward as they both know Laurel is named after the aunt who died years before she was born.
But they make it work.
Laurel Sharpe-Lance, everybody.

Goodbyes Suck (Legends of Tomorrow, T)
Fandom: Legends of Tomorrow
Rating: T (there’s the occasional swear, but it’s basically a lovefest.) (In a G way.)
Relationships: Gen, Ray/Nora, Nora & everybody
Words: 2,724
Summary: she’s never had to say goodbye before. she never had anyone to say goodbye to. turns out it’s kinda crappy.
Author: frickinsnowcheetah (impactvelocity)
A/N: I’m probably not done kicking this around, so it’s not up on AO3 yet, but it felt like time to cut it free, let it loose on the world. If you have feedback, I’d love to hear it.
This sucks.
She knew things would be different once she got out of the weird Time Bureau resort hotel prison, but this...caring? It HURTS.
It's not like the entire situation's devoid of joy; staying still obviously has appeal, she wouldn't have agreed and planned and made all the arrangements if she didn't want to try a life with Ray. She might have done all those things and avoided talking about them with Sara and Ava and Mona and John, but she WAS looking forward to it.
Ray had a friend (was Oliver Queen a friend? Ray said so, and she'd seen proof they'd been at more than one gala together, and they'd saved the world from Nazis and...okay, maybe Oliver Queen was a friend) who knew a guy-- a friend who could use a hand.
Well. It was more like all the universes collapsed into just this one and Ray happened to own the farm the other guy had owned on his earth and Ray's too good a guy to leave new people to fend for themselves even though Nora's pretty sure she saw the guy *flying* so she's not quite sure how much help he really needs. Also he's got a wife and kid, and those do take up a lot of time.  She's hoping to do some first hand research on that at some point (Maybe. At least the first step in the process.).
So they're gonna help the new people.
They're going to be...farmers.
Okay, that part holds less appeal. But..Ray? A home? Safety and security and love and a place that's *hers* where she doesn't have to run for her life or fight for it or get twisted up in anyone else's magic or the worst parts of her own? Yeah, that all sounds *good.*
But this right now? Sucks.
She's never had to say goodbye before.
Mick stares at her for a long moment, then nodded. "Let Gideon know where to send the manuscripts," he says, and then leaves the room. He forgets his beer bottle on the table, and when she calls after him, he tells her to finish it for him. He cares, in his Mick way, so she drinks.
That had been the easiest goodbye, actually.  John's a brief staring contest, a kiss on the forehead, and a promise that he'll always be around, pretty straightforward, especially for John. Ray gets a nod, then John's out of the room. Gary isn't too complicated, either; she promises to set up the wifi so they can keep playing D&D, and he seems pretty satisfied with that compromise. He even tries to give her and Ray their figures (they tell him to keep them, keep the party together) before he follows after John.  Zari had been pretty quick, too, though Behrad had pulled Nora into a hug that lasted a while. The siblings Tomaz weren't overly chatty about their emotions, either, so she let the hug do the talking.
Ray's hugs with Charlie and Z DID last a little long, though, even if they were standing in the place of verbal goodbyes--she figures there was something that happened before she was really around -- this ship is full  of history like that, the kind you didn't necessarily talk about, but you didn't ignore the results of, either. When Charlie told her to keep an eye on Ray, she nodded, throat too tight to speak--she'd never found out exactly WHY Charlie's so careful with Ray, but she knows the shifter cares.  It's one of the things she likes most about the Waverider. They all KNOW she was possessed by a demon, but she doesn't get weird looks or stares or endless questions about it all or how she feels about it or what she did, exactly.  It's not that they don't care, it's that who you are and what you're doing is more important than what you did or who you were. She's going to miss that.
Five down, four to go.
She swallows hard around the lump in her throat. Again.
There aren't a LOT of pictures lying around the Waverider, but there are some. She knows who everybody is because Ray's talked about all of them, almost always fondly. She's heard about how Martin died, how Rip died, how Jax got married and had a kid, how Kendra and Carter went to do the immortals-newly-free-of-the-asshole-who'd-been-hunting-them-for-two-thousand-years honeymoon-and-vigilante-ing thing, she's heard about Len. How Wally's finding himself and Amaya's protecting her village and family. It's the circle of Waverider life, apparently.
It still sucks.
She's heard the stories, seen the pictures change, and through all of them, three faces stayed present. They're the foundation upon which this family is built, Nora knows. She's not sure they've really thought about it, but she does know Sara's not keeping her face nearly as emotion free as she probably hopes.
Mick was always the easiest to understand. He was loyal, he trusted his partner. By extension, the team. He was SO different than the man who'd burned around Central City that she's read about in papers. He was the obvious demonstration of how people could--DID--change. If he could do it, so could they. He believed that, and he made sure they all knew it, even if he didn't talk about it much.
Now Ray, *Ray* talked about everything. He was the conviction they all needed. Someone with faith in each of them, no matter how many times they fell or fucked things up, Ray was always there to encourage them to stand back up, try again. It wasn't naivete -- he'd seen the world, been knocked around himself -- but he believed in everybody. In the *goodness* in everybody. No matter what. Whatever it took, Ray was there.
She's seen how the others lean on him, and she knows it's not weight he bears unwillingly, but not easily, either. He's leaned back, too, it's a balance they've worked out, but she worries about what happens when he's not there anymore.
There's a heaviness to Ray these days, though, a sadness and gravity that wasn't there before Neron. He'd been all light and optimism, and now...now there were shadows, too.
She knows what it feels like, like you can't take enough showers can't quite reach every nook and cranny in your brain to scrub out the feeling of the demon making itself at home in you, and if anybody can bounce back from that bullshit, it's Ray. She's doing pretty damn well herself, which is how she knows Ray can do it, too. But--change helped her. More than she's let on. Sure, prison wasn't her first choice, but with it came the chance to reassess, to accept things had happened and finally start to let them go. She'll always carry some of it, he'd been there since she was a *child* after all, but she wasn't scared of her magic any more, she could trust herself around Ray, she could be a friend--there are people who *want* her around, *want* to be her friend. That's still surreal.
She's never actually had friends before, she didn't even know they came like this.
They've all shuffled a bit closer, and Sara's the first to sniff, which makes Nate hold out his hand and Ava reach into her pocket and hand over a ten.
But then Ray hauls Ava over to him in a massive hug, and Sara launches herself at Nora, and she's got an armful of assassin hugging her, tight.
Sara had changed too, that was easy to see. Mick (and Len, she's told) was quietly insistent that she could lead this team, even when Sara was sure she shouldn't. Ray never doubted her, always supported her, and their combined belief kept her trying when giving in to old habits and still-raging instincts would have been easier and faster. They back her every play, and because of them, she can make the shitty, hard choices leaders have to make.
There's always been something dark around the edges of Sara, whether from the Lazarus Pit or Mallus or just herself, Nora doesn't know. But she's pushed it back. To hear Ray tell it, she'd been more than satisfied with her roll on the ship as the killer, the one who "took care of things." She was there to provide Rip the muscle he needed to overthrow the...you know, Nora never really followed it all when Ray got to talking about it. (He's a really distracting guy when he talks. Or stands. Breathes. She'd feel shallow, but she's caught him with the same glazed look on his face when she's been talking magic.)  And Sara was fine with that. For a while. No one *judged* her, especially when all their lives had been saved by her at one point or another. But Ray has very vocal feelings about Doing The Right Thing and...morals in general. It was hard to be around him and not try to be the version of you he saw: the very best you you could be.
It's not that the others are amoral assholes, but his loud strong voice doesn't care if you call him foolish or naive; he believes helping people and loving everyone really will solve problems. His speaking up makes it easier for others to do the same. So she knows the team will survive, but she worries about what voices of their lesser angels they'll listen to without Ray around to keep shouting them down. Hell, they'd been ready to turn Charlie over until Ray had argued not to, even when Ava had called him gullible. Now Charlie comes to book club sometimes.
With a last squeeze, Sara backs up. Her eyes are only darting up for quick glances, and Nora can see her take a deep breath in preparation of actually meeting Ray's eyes.
"Wait, wait, wait! I need a hug!" Mona cries, and bolts forward, stepping straight into Ray's arms. She starts telling Ray something, at a very high speed, and Sara floats over toward Nate, who wraps an arm around her waist when she leans into his side.
"I, uh--I took these before we shut the Bureau down," Ava says. She holds out a time courier out to Nora. "I know you've got the stone and all the magic, but..." she shrugs and stands there looking anguished.
"Oh my god, hug each other!" Sara calls, just as Mona says "Hug now!" She sounds exasperated, and it pulls a laugh from both Ava and Nora; this hug is tight, too.
Nora's never had anyone fighting in her corner before, and Ava believed in her when she was at her lowest, gave her a shot at really helping people, bouncing back from the nightmare of her childhood. Ave *understood* what it was like to have something that huge hanging over your head, informing everything. She never judged Nora (Well. Except about the time crimes. And some of Mallus's shit. There were extenuating circumstances, and once Ava realized she was sounding awfully superior and that she *had* been kinda judgy, she did her best to stop and treat Nora like a regular person, so.) She'd given her a *shot* without having much of a reason to, and Nora would always appreciate that.  That Ava was then willing to become her *friend*? Well, that would always feel as surprising as it did hearing she was a clone (that night had been *weird*).
And none of it would have happened without Mona. So when Ava steps back and Mona just shuffles over to Nora's side, she hugs her friend as tight as she can. Mona's arms are tight around her, too, and she can hear sniffling close to her ear. It's fine, she's crying too.
Her friend reminded her a lot of Ray, that irrepressible hope and faith that just pours out of both of them is hard to miss. But Mona straightens up pretty quickly and smiles. "You know we have a time ship," she says. Then holds up her wrist. "And time couriers. It's not like you're going to be unreachable!" Nora nods. It's not the same, and Mona's eyes say she totally knows that, but is determined not to let it matter.  "And we still have book club!"
"Yeah, that was doable when--"
"When Nora was in time prison, then in a magical coma?" Mona asks, cutting Ava off. "I know! 2,000 miles is cake compared to that!" she grins brightly at both Ava and Nora, and holds up a finger. "I'll be right back, I have your book in my room!" then she's gone.
Ava points at the drinks cart. "You want?" she asks.
Nora gets a good look at Nate and nods. Yes. Alcohol would be nice right about now. Ray's already sniffling in Sara's hair, and Sara's just ignoring the tears at this point as she speaks into his shoulder. Ray nods every so often, mumbles back.
"You can paint my bedroom blue," Nate says, aiming for levity.
It gets Nora to smile, she'll give him that. "What makes you think the house is gonna have any other bedrooms?" He grins, too. Like Ray Palmer would have a house without room for his friends. "I expect to see you over there, you know," she says. "He hated it when you moved off the ship."
"I came back," Nate says. He gestures to her, then Ava. "No one ever seems to get too far once they're family." Well, he's got a point. Ava hated them in the beginning, and now she's moved in. John, too. Maybe it's the ship, but Nora's pretty sure it's the people. She doesn't really want to leave them, either.
Nate looks away from Ray and Sara and swallows hard. Ava's handing Nora her drink, but Nate intercepts it, and tosses the whole thing back in one go. "Sorry," he says, and hands the next one to Nora, lets Ava refill his own. He stares at the liquid for a moment before bracing himself and looking up. "Keep an eye on him?" he asks. "He's not as indestructible as his suit."
She finishes swallowing her drink before she nods, then meets him halfway for a hug. Like she'd let anything happen to Ray; but they both know that, Nate just needs to say it. "Thanks for looking out until I got here," she says. "And then while I was here." The laugh Nate lets out is watery, but he nods all the same. "Ray's right, you do really know how to hug," she says. Her face is pressed to his chest, and she can hear his breath hitch. It's contagious, but they both do their best to pull it together when they see Sara step over toward the drinks. Ava's already handing it to her.
It's not that they're *watching* Nate say goodbye, but they're too busy drinking to find something else to focus on.
Except, it's short.  Nate says "Anytime, bro, anywhere," and Ray nods.
"Just call," he replies, and then they're hugging. Big, both armed hug.
Okay, *that's* not short.
Suddenly, she and Ava and Sara are fascinated by their drinks. Which is when Mona bursts into the room.
"Oh, thank god," Ava mummers while Sara starts pouring again.
"I promised Mick last week that we'd read this one next, he  was...excited about it," she says, foisting it on Ava and Nora.
"*MIck* was *excited*?" Ava asks for both of them.
"I let him have his joy, he helps me not go crazy and tear apart the ship and everyone on it when I get upset," Mona says. The "like this" remains unsaid, but the glance Mona throws Nora still feels like a very pointed, angry (almost--it's Mona, she can only be so harsh, even when upset) glare, and Nora winces a little.
"So glad you've got that handled," Sara says. She looks over Ava's shoulder to read the cover and her eyes light up. "It's got assassins!" she grins.
"Pretty sure they're the bad guys," Nora points out.
"Pretty sure you mean bad*asses*," Sara replies. She hands Mona and Ray their own drinks, and raises hers before Nora can counter.  "To family," she says. "My boomerang crew."
Nate's smiling softly, and so is Ray, so Nora drinks with them all before she asks. "Boomerang crew?"
"Boomerangs," Sara nods, serious but still smiling a little, satisfied she's asked. "They come back to you."

For the Winter Prompts #70, Captain Canary Thank you!
70. “You’re perfectly welcome to kiss whomever you wa–”
Read on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/21672130/chapters/51815305
Sara knew coming to the Time Bureau’s New Year’s party was a bad idea, but apparently she didn’t realize just how bad of an idea.
She and Ava broke up less than a month ago, and ok, the wound is still fresh and she’s sure the rest of the team would’ve understood if she chose to take a rain check on the party. But she and Ava agreed they can still be professional, and that includes not going out of their way to avoid each other.
Good thing it doesn’t involve avoiding the bar.
Of course, she’s even alone here, because her drinking buddy Mick – great, she can’t even think of his name without snarling – in some truly bizarre twist of fate, has started hanging around with one of their previously dead allies which the Crisis managed to return to them. Her sister, to be specific. Her sister who is sober and she doesn’t know if Mick is trying to impress her or what but he hasn’t come near the bar all night and it is infuriating. With Mick around, no one else should ever be the most inhibited person in the room.
She, of course, feels like an awful person for thinking that.
She keeps sipping on her drink; a soda spiked with a fair amount of vodka. She’s looking to numb herself tonight, but tipping back shots of whiskey isn’t exactly the most effective way to convince everybody that you’re fine.
And, as she catches Leonard’s eyes across the room and he very quickly looks away, she is well aware that she is very much not fine.
He’s another one Crisis was able to return. It’s funny, at first she thought she’d lucked out. Two of the people most important to her who she’s lost back from the dead? There had to be a catch.
Turns out there was.
Neither of them has wanted much to do with her since getting back.
Laurel’s been a little better. At first she was the only one her sister would so much as look at. So much has changed since Laurel’s death, including the appearance of Earth-2 Laurel. Sara knows she’s changed too, a lot, but at first Laurel seemed ok with it. She asked all her questions and even boarded the Waverider when Crisis was over, but since then… Laurel seems more interested in the rest of the team than in her.
She knows that’s a good thing, and she isn’t so childish to be jealous. It’s just… she wouldn’t mind having some of her sister’s attention right now.
Especially with Leonard being back.
Unlike Laurel, he’s been avoiding her since the moment he returned. At first she thought he might need space, and he was clinging to Mick in much the same way Laurel was sticking by her, but now this is getting insulting. Mick with her sister more often than not, and instead of coming to her to gossip about it Leonard seems to have taken a shine to everybody but her.
When is an acceptable time to start on whiskey?
Currently he is across the room with Gary, talking about something or other, and she grimaces. She thought Gary would’ve annoyed him.
“Alright everybody!” One of the new Bureau agents – Archie, she’s pretty sure - says as he commanders a microphone Gary was abusing earlier. “It is officially one minute to midnight so we’re going to start the countdown, make sure you’re all near your special someone of the night. If you don’t have a special someone then, hey, I’m still looking for somebody to kiss!”
Great.
He doesn’t actually start counting right then and there, although Sara is sure he’s keeping count of the seconds. Speaking of seconds, she catches Ava’s eye for about half of one but then her ex glances away; a firm no. Fine, it’s better that way anyway.
“Thirty seconds everyone!”
Why is a time traveling organization even having a New Year’s party?
“Twenty seconds!”
She looks over at the bartender, “Can I get a whiskey, please?”
“Fifteen seconds!”
Ok, maybe it wouldn’t kill her to at least do a headcount of her team.
“Ten.”
Ray and Nora are over by a standing table, already wrapped up in each other and counting along with the rest of the crowd.
“Nine.”
Charlie’s got Zari talking over against the back wall.
“Eight.”
Huh, Behrad looks like he’s consoling Nate over something. Wonder what that’s about.
“Seven.”
Well, at least she won’t be the only person not kissing at midnight, but it still hurts that Mona’s over with Ava right now.
“Six.”
She almost face palms, watching John lead Archie into a closet.
“Five.”
Her sister and Mick getting closer, nauseating.
“Four.”
No. Gideon, Rip, do not go into that closet.
“Three!”
Oh poor Gary, he definitely noticed John and Archie’s little vanishing act.
“Two!”
On second thought Gideon, go ahead. Open that door. She wouldn’t mind seeing that particular mess unfold.
“One! Happy New Year!”
The cheer is echoed by everyone in the room, punctuated by whistles, music, and so many kisses. It seems like everyone found someone to kiss, even the most unlikely of candidates. She sees Mona drag Ava in for a quick peck, and it actually serves enough to make her laugh. Of course, the real sight to see is Behrad doing the same to Nate, except his is much more than a peck and might even border a bit on assault were it anybody else. Laurel and Mick, that’s something she isn’t going to think about until morning. Leonard and-
The amused smile vanishes from her face.
Leonard. She had idly entertained some hopes earlier today that he might want to kiss her at midnight, and when those were all tossed out the window rather quickly she at least took solace in the fact that he likely wouldn’t be kissing anyone, the same as her.
Likely, but apparently not definitely.
It isn’t a long kiss. Really, it’s probably only a second or two that their lips are touching, but it feels like it drags on forever.
Leonard and Gary. She never would’ve thought.
She tips back what’s left of her whiskey and leaves the glass on the bar; she’s had enough of this party.
“Ten.”
Great, the New Year’s countdown. Least that means he can leave soon.
“Nine.”
To tell the truth, Leonard isn’t sure why he even agreed to come to this party.
“Eight.”
He tried sticking it out with Mick, but his buddy was clearly genuinely enjoying himself, and he would hate to ruin that.
“Seven.”
Sara’s still over at the bar, nowhere near her ex.
“Six.”
Constantine is bringing the guy who started the countdown into a closet. Classy.
“Five.”
Maybe he could… No. Sara and Ava were together for almost two years. A month is too soon to... well, to make a move.
“Four.”
Lovely, Gideon’s got her eye on the closet too.
“Three!”
“Oh.”
The mutter is so quiet Leonard almost doesn’t hear it, but when he turns that poor love-struck idiot Gary is still standing nearby, eyes locked on the closet.
“Two!”
Ouch, poor guy.
“One! Happy New Year!”
He steps over to Gary, frowning amid all the other happy partygoers. That just isn’t right. He can be disappointed at midnight, but poor Gary who has probably never had a celebratory kiss in his life, doesn’t deserve that.
Gary looks up at him, looking more like a kicked puppy then any actual kicked puppy Leonard has ever seen.
“You want a kiss?”
“Uh…” Gary stammers, his eyes scanning Leonard’s face for any hints of sarcasm.
“One that means nothing.” He clarifies quickly, “Just for midnight.”
“Oh… Uh, sure. Th-Thank you. Uh-”
Oh for crying out loud.
He leans over presses a quick kiss to Gary’s lips. A little more than a peck, but he only lingers it for a second. Gary barely has any time to kiss back before it’s over, and when it is Leonard finds that the view over Gary’s shoulder has a perfect sightline for the bar.
And for Sara storming away.
Needless to say, he leaves Gary spluttering there in the middle of the room, and he’ll feel guilty about it later.
He moves quickly through the crowd, most people are still caught up in their own worlds anyway and too distracted to notice him. He does hear one shout in the distance and look over his shoulder to investigate, and man he wishes he could stick around because Gideon opened the closet door but… more important matters at hand.
Leaving the party room behind puts him out in the main halls of the Time Bureau. He doesn’t know these halls as well as he would like to, having been here only once before. He’s sure Sara knows of more places to hide around here than he does.
Click.
Or maybe not.
He hears the heavy sound up around a corner ahead, a sound that can only be made by a rather large and industrial front door being opened into a gust of wind. He picks up his pace and rounds the corner, and as he draws nearer to the Time Bureau’s main entrance he is able to see Sara through it’s glass windows; walking away.
He doesn’t even try to stop himself.
“Sara!” He calls after her, pushing the front door open. He’s surprised when she stops and turns back, and even more surprised when she stays there.
It’s cold out here. No snow, not in DC, but cold enough that she must be freezing in only that little gold dress with spaghetti straps.
“A little cold out here.” He drawls, and really, that’s all he’s got. He’s coming to the sudden and painful realization that he had no actual plan in chasing her out here. Nothing other than what? Assuring her there is nothing between him and Gary?
She shrugs, her arms crossed, giving him full view of the goose bumps that have appeared on her skin.
He shrugs out of his coat wordlessly, and when he holds it out to her she looks at it for a second, before finally she takes it.
“Thanks.”
They don’t talk while she puts it on and zips it up, her hands going in his pockets and damn, he really likes the sight of her in that jacket.
“So what?” She eventually asks, when they have been standing out here in the cold staring at each other for long enough. “First New Year’s back from the dead and you lose interest after kissing Gary for three seconds?”
Her words come with a certain… a pained venom, he’ll say. It’s a weak shot, and she is well aware of it, to the point where she scuffs her foot against the sidewalk and her eyes follow it instead of looking at his.
“Sara.”
“No, hey, it’s fine.” She insists, in a voice that is anything except for fine. “It’s fine, really. You’re an adult, you’re single. You are perfectly welcome to kiss whomever you wa-”
“Can I?” He interrupts, which he doesn’t exactly mean to do, but he can’t watch this betrayed pain on her face for one second more.
“Can I?” He repeats, stepping closer. “Because, nice of a guy as Gary is, he’s not my type, and I would very much like to kiss you instead.”
With his words his hands move to settle on her hips, and she responds by taking her hands out of his pockets and looping her arms around his neck, pulling herself closer.
“I’d like that too.”
He’s grinning like a cat as he leans into her, his lips pressing against the warmth of hers.
Hands down, best way to start the new year.

As requested, I started my list of fave female/female-presenting Legends. I made it halfway and then I got stuck because it’s literally impossible so maybe I’ll do the second half later.
1. Zari Tomaz
Pros: She is literally everything. EVERYTHING.
Cons: I hate that in the end they basically just made her an extension of Nate. As much as I loved having her come back in seasons 6 and 7, it would have been better to let her go out on her own terms in the season 5 finale after kissing Charlie.
2. Charlie
Pros: Hands down my favorite character to write. The complexity, the layers of trauma, the love she has for all of the other Legends... what a beautiful character.
Cons: Shapeshifted into John Constantine to have an orgy. It is literally criminal to hide Maisie's face like that.
3. Astra Logue
Pros: Also amazing to write. She's the embodiment of one of my favorite tropes, the "I don't know how to human" one, but she's so snarky about it. Unafraid to tell everyone else exactly how dumb they're being, which they need constantly. Incredible amount of character growth in 2.5 seasons.
Cons: Should never have gotten into a relationship with Behrad. They're not compatible. They're not going to make it long term. But Astra is never going to be able to dump Behrad because he is the whole team's little brother and everybody loves him, so she will automatically be the bad guy and lose everything (at least in her slightly skewed assessment of things). One of the very few positives about the show being canceled is that we didn't have to see her get smaller and smaller in service of a male character.
4. Zari Tarazi
Pros: The fact that they got rid of my favorite character and replaced her with someone I love almost as much is insane. Completely insane. I love how much hidden depth she has. She's also one of the funniest characters on the show and, empirically speaking, very hot.
Cons: The absolute worst taste in men of any person ever. I absolutely loathed having to watch her get lied to for an entire season and for what?
5. Gideon
Pros: She's always been a great part of the show, but season 7 was just magnificent. I love her so much. Where would the show be without her? Nowhere, that's where.
Cons: I'm never going to completely forgive her for time looping Zari 1.0. She's been through some shit and you want to just traumatize her more for fun? Nope. Not okay.
6. Amaya Jiwe
Pros: I started watching the show with season 2, so she had to be my original fave. She was also my first time experiencing Maisie Richardson-Sellers and one does not just recover from that. She had hands-down the best powers on the show and was just radiant. And a bitch. And a fucking pirate. And Princess Leia. I rest my case.
Cons: Basically the cons for everyone on this list are annoying heterosexual relationships. Her story was so much bigger than Nate and they should have let that happen.

ok gonna write my post about legends of tomorrow 6.08 “stressed western” SO quick bc i wanna get to sleep early. this episode is a decompression episode which allows the characters to process stuff from the previous episodes while setting up stuff for later episodes. these decompression episodes arent usually my favorites but theyre necessary and since its a legends of tomorrow episode of course its gonna be enjoyable no matter what. this one isnt like a standout episode or anything but i liked it alright and it was cool to see david ramsey in a silly mustache :)
the sara ava stuff felt a little bit um not the best? it’s very sweet how sara blurts out that shes a clone alien hybrid, of course she cant keep anything from ava. but their agreement to not tell the team for now bc they wanna try to be “normal” felt obviously doomed to fail, and this whole “normal” idea is something we’ve already seen before in the episode where they have their first date. so i feel like they should have learned that lesson by now. still it’s very nice to see ava being so supportive and even a little bit nervous about making sara feel welcome bc she cares about her so much. ava’s anxieties over sara being part alien now and therefore different was something that did work for me. it just felt very real. because its one thing to say you’ll love her no matter how she’s changed but it’s another thing to see those changes in action. it’s just very human of ava. i like how it sort of escalates from seeing sara eat too many cherries to seeing sara survive being shot in the head. it was a very badass scene of sara taking all those bullets. i just know keto shimizu or someone in the writers room took inspiration from wolverine weapon x bc not only was sara kidnapped and experimented on to give her new abilities but also now she has a healing factor and can survive all these bullets!!! i liked that ava was so horrified at seeing sara maimed in that way even though sara was fine. again yknow thats something i can emotionally connect with. but then at the end when they were like well i guess we shouldnt have tried to be normal i was like yeah no duh you already knew this!!!!!! i just wish that part had been framed in another way.
i like how nate is like lets do a nice regular classic kind of legends mission to get sara back in the groove and they do a wild west mission. because to us the viewers it does evoke the past wild west episodes and so it does have a classic feeling. i think that’s fun. i also enjoyed how nate expressed his frustration and how he felt like he wasn’t getting enough respect or recognition for keeping the team together when everything had been falling apart. even though it was a ruse to lure the alien it still was how he felt and i had been wondering if the show was ever gonna recognize just how taxing it must have been for nate to be everybody’s rock for that stretch of episodes. so it was nice to see. hes still not my fave but i can appreciate him. i also enjoyed the zari behrad sibling bickering, so cute. i dont really care for this behrad astra flirtation but we’ll see how it goes.
the spooner astra stuff was nice. kind of funny how nate calls out the trope-iness of putting the 2 characters who dont like each other on a mission and by the end they will be friends. since spooner and astra are the 2 newest characters it was a little tricky for me to totally grasp everything that was going on with them, just because i don’t know either of them that well, but i enjoyed their sniping at each other and i really loved when astra finds out spooner lost her mom and her whole demeanor kind of changes. i love when astra is kind of being hard on spooner and judging her because she sees herself in spooner and she’s hard on herself. and spooner reminds astra that shes not in hell anymore and she shouldnt be acting like she is. i like that they bonded, it’s kind of a fun contrast since their personalities and aesthetics are so different. i think they should be besties.
okay thats all last thing i wanna say is i bet sara is one of those girls who can tie a cherry stem in a knot with her tongue

………………………………………………………………………………
Nyssa found that she fit in surprisingly well with the Legends, despite the still strange ship. Although, Nyssa had never felt at home amongst technology. Being surrounded by tech including Gideon, the ships A.I. and the eleventh member of the team, she felt it would be best to jump in with both feet. They all seemed happy that Nyssa made Sara happy, and she made an effort to get to know the people that had become Sara’s family.
Mona with her sweet dispossession and fierce love for everyone. She had encouraged Nyssa to enjoy life's sweet moments and had welcomed her into their book club.
Ray with his constant smile, sunny outlook, and unending love for his friends. He had been the first person to welcome her and was her first friend on the ship.
Nate with his thirst for knowledge had become her study buddy as they frequently read and research together in the library.
Behrad, with his sense of responsibility, but carefree life. He shared his place at Sara's right hand side with her. They spoke Farsi to each other as a familiar and comforting language.
Charlie with their chaotic energy, but they never hesitated to do the right thing, and inspired everyone to look for the good in the most unlikely souls.
Zari with her attitude and wild ways, she used her influence to help those who needed it and patiently taught Nyssa how to use a smartphone.
Nora with her quiet, steady smiles and soft temperament that match Nyssa's own. Nora opened up to her about being new to the Waverider as well. They shared books and drew near to each other, and the more they talked the more Nyssa found a deep friendship that she was glad to have.
Mick with his gruff demeanor, as he eyed Nyssa when she joined the ship. When Sara introduced them, he remained cold to her and later, deliberately cornered her with a warning.
“Don’t hurt Sara,” Mick warned her, as he towered above her, using his stature to intimidate her. A technique Nyssa was quite used to men doing to her, despite her strong stance and 5’8” height.
“I have hurt Sara before,” Nyssa admitted to him. “But I have loved her since I was 24 years old, and I know more now than I did them. I shall make you the same promise I have made her when I stepped onto this ship. I would die before, I would willingly hurt Sara again.”
Mick seemed to accept her promise and nodded, before stepping back and easing his stance.
“Beer?”
Nyssa hated Beer, but for the sake of getting along with all of Sara’s crew, she agreed. The beer that Rory handed her was not half bad. The craft beer had hints of spice and citrus, and she found herself reaching for another as they stood against the galley’s island. As they talked, Nyssa was intrigued by his writing and even more so by his theft.
They were talking about his latest steal of the Fabergé egg that she now examined in her hand. It seemed they both had a good eye for these things and even quicker fingers. Nyssa
“We should contact the buyers directly, no auctions,” Nyssa said, as she placed the egg back in the protective case Ray had given them. She knew that it would be best if they were to avoid the attention of the police and international law enforcement when they sold it. “I know a few people who would be interested and would be willing to pay a fair price.”
Mick nodded and grinned. “You know your way around the black market?”
“You could say that,” Nyssa said with a cheeky smile.
Mick laughed and patted her on the shoulder in a friendly, yet hard manner, that if not for Nyssa stance to keep her steady, would have sent her forward.
“Should I be worried about you too?”
They looked over to see Sara crossing her arms with an eyebrow raised at them.
“Always,” Mick said, leaving the table and depositing his beer in the recycling before going over and patting Sara’s shoulder.
“You got a good one there boss.”
“Don't I know it,” Sara said with a smile and eyes that softened just for Nyssa.
As soon as he left, Sara stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Nyssa’s waist from behind, resting her head between Nyssa’s shoulder blades. Their height difference was accentuated by Sara's flat sneakers and Nyssa’s heeled boots.
“I'm glad you're settling in well. Everybody seems to like you, and I can see that you've made an effort to get to know them. Thank you.”
Nyssa sighed in contempt, knowing that she hadn’t quite settled in as much as she let on, but held Sara’s arms around her waist. “If I am to make this my home, then I should get to know my neighbors, no? I think I have found a home amongst your crew, but I will admit that I am having a harder time adjusting to the ship itself.”
“I know,” Sara said, leaning up to pressing a kiss to the back of Nyssa’s neck.
Nyssa turned around in her arms and leaned down to nuzzle her nose into Sara’s hair, letting herself breathe in Sara's scent. She had to remember that Sara was her home and if Sara's home was the ship, then it could be Nyssa’s home too. Sara moved to kiss her, and Nyssa smiled into her lips. She missed Sara’s kisses the most. It was such a meaningful, yet simple act that meant the world to her. Nyssa could spend the rest of her days kissing Sara Lance.
They heard footsteps coming down the hall, and Sara immediately pulled her lips away and withdrew her arms from around Nyssa's waist. Nyssa reached out to grab a hold of her hand and Sara allowed her that. Nyssa tugged her in for a hug, but Sara stiffened and Nyssa let her wiggle out of her arms just as Nate and Behrad came around the corner.
“Hey so we got my sister settled in, well she stopped screaming at least,” Behrad said, with a shrug.
“That’s great guys,” Sara said, but Nyssa only partially listened in as she looked over at Sara.
Nyssa looked down at their entwined hands and was happy that at least Sara offered her that. She knew that Sara's reluctance for public displays of affection was a product of their time in the League. There they could only hold hands, even as Beloved's. Here Nyssa was free with her affections for Sara, but the latter was still preserved herself from even her family's gaze.
Perhaps Sara just needed time to settle into their new roles. She won't push Sara on this, but she hoped that Sara soon realized Nyssa was ready to be free with her affections. A freedom they could once only dream of.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 2
Well that was incredible.
I stopped being defensive about how much I love Legends of Tomorrow sometime towards the end of the second season. A little before the show stopped being defensive about how much fun it was, now that I think about it. And once that happened, it settled into a nice rhythm of having stupid amounts of fun on screen (and off, probably – a big part of the appeal), moving whatever ridiculous plot the season set up along, and getting us into its characters’ heads and making us love them. There would be the occasional turd, but it would always rebound quickly. The show thrived on parallel tracks: gleefully throwing the craziest plot shit it could at us, and digging down deep into intensely lovable misfits.
But I don’t think they’ve ever put together an episode like this. “Meet the Legends” might be the best hour of television Legends of Tomorrow has ever done.
We left off last season with Astrid, Constantine’s big failure, taking over hell from Neron and cutting loose the worst of the worst demons. The Legends saved the world from Neron’s attempted takeover in an incredibly public way, and they came out of it famous, but possibly broke because of some…issues…with their federal funding. Ava’s solution is to try and reclaim their government funding by letting a documentary crew onto the Waverider. Sara goes off to “the crossover” and comes back a mess, and a timequake rumbles, pointing the crew (and their documentary tails) to 1917 Russia and Rasputin’s return from the dead. Meanwhile, Constantine stays in 2020 NYC to track down the real story on the overarching plot of the season. The team is a mess without her running point, so everybody goes off and tries to solve the Rasputin problem three different ways and fails catastrophically, leaving the film crew behind and turning Rasputin into a real housemage or something. When Sara gets a call from Constantine, she pulls it together and heads off to finish the job without killing Rasputin, who as a recent returnee from hell, can’t be killed until they fix something down there.
The plot is as simple and straightforward as any other episode of the show, but the execution is magnificent. The first 25 minutes or so are funnier than any episode to come before it. It kicks off with a recap of “Legends Mania” – all of the fame and adoration coming the team’s way after their big win – and it has some incredible stuff in there, like chibi Steel or Ava and Sara at a basketball game with Obama and Jill Biden. Zari’s brother, Behrad (who replaced her on the Waverider after her universe-saving paradox subbed him onto the team and out of nonexistence) spends a lot of time baking out the ship, and Mona is “Rebecca Silver” (Mick’s bodice-ripping alter ego)’s agent, wolfing out while negotiating in a metaphor that is so incredibly on the nose that this show couldn’t have avoided using it, and also couldn’t have failed to use it well.
A lot of this is standard Legends comedy, but they scatter in a couple of really sharp lines and absurd sitcom scenarios and pick up the pace A LOT, like to Rick & Morty levels, for much of the first half of the episode. Ava asking Gideon “time sex tourism?” in response to a timequake is not a joke that S2 Legends would have even tried, nevermind squeezing it into a dense, quick scene. Constantine doesn’t get him and his demon friend (who’s possessing a 13 year old boy) thrown out of a strip club in S4.
And the episode is a fun, smart send up of reality TV that only succeeds the way it does if the folks making it understand both the reality and documentary formats, what makes them work and fail, and then sets out to intentionally break the format for fun.
Then the show pivoted to some excellent character work. One of the best things about reading superhero comics, something the Arrowverse does exceptionally well, is use the shared universe to make everything feel bigger, and I’ve never seen a show translate that vibe from page to screen better than Legends. This episode’s heart was crucial to its success, and also made it feel like the first comic issue after a big summer event book, where the main characters processing the event lets the reader get a lot of character time.
White Canary gets the development this time. Caity Lotz does some of her best work of the show, coming off of the death of Ollie and the rest of the batshit miscellanea she’s now carrying with her from “the crossover.” She’s her usual Sara – constantly skating on the edge of exasperated and losing control of the situation, but also still reliable and a deceptively good leader – but there’s a good amount of sadness and loneliness in her in this episode. I took some pretty furious notes through the opening, rewinding a couple of times to make sure I caught all the jokes, but when the focus turned from everyone reacting to Sara’s Crisis scars to Sara working through them, I completely drifted away from my note taking because I was pretty captivated by the screen. I had mostly moved to just smiling at how good the episode was.
Until the part where Ray reverted to normal size from inside Rasputin’s esophagus, at which point I laugh/coughed so loud that I woke my wife and a dog up. I knew it was coming about 10 seconds before it actually happened, just enough time to get my hands over my mouth and whisper “holy shit no way,” and then all of a sudden the documentary director is covered in Russian viscera and I’m about to roll off of my couch laughing. And no sooner can I write down “wow they’re really going to leave several jars of Rasputin lying around the Waverider? That’ll end well” than Constantine barges through the ship and pounds a jar of Czar to head back into Hell to figure out how to fix this.
I’m amazed at Legends hit rate. Even the bad episodes are a ton of fun, but the good ones are some of the best on television, and this post-Crisis kickoff to season five is Legends’ best yet.
