OKAY SO
(spoilers for workin’ boys under the cut)
When Hidgens shoots Ted?! And the Hatchet Town motif plays?! losing every marble i’ve ever clutched
Fuckin transcendent
The spooky version of show stoppin number when he is killing? it’s so good hello? they took his ass OUT of swing and things got serious
EVERY TIME RUTH IS THERE JUST FOR ONCE PLAYS UNDER THE DIALOGUE. UNWELL. SHE DID GET TO ACT BUT IT WAS. JUST FOR ONCE
FUCKIN RAISINS CALLBACK WOOHOO!!!
half of the score is just show stoppin number and i am HERE for it-the triumphant version when hidgens dies? spooky piano version of ‘business calls’ in the opening? the title music kinda jazzy thing? i see you
when officer bailey is hiding bc he forgot he has a gun and richie is talking to him show me ur hands plays…top ten hatchetfeild motifs its in all three of the stage shows too
MARY KATE WILES IN HATCHETFEILD REAL?!
WHEN HIDGENS TELLS RUTH TO STICK TO THE SCRIPT I THINK THAT THE OPENING TO INEVITABLE PLAYS OHH MY GOD (not so sure but that was my first thought. only reader response analysis in my house) (it also plays under when they say “chad’s coming” so i think it’s something else im missing)
lah dee dah dah day under when the audience is talking to each other! okay!
NOOO WHEN IT SWITCHES TO RICHIE AND GRACE TALKING THE SCORE GOES TO THE IM NOT A LOSER MOTIF SOBBING
meg…and eve…and sue…and marge…and leah…and chad
the piano intro to the song they play over the credits almost sounds like the beginning of tgwdlm…same tune also shows up in yellow jacket
matt dahan i owe you my life
PLAYBILLS:
ZOEY CHAMBERS (Henrietta) is humbled beyond words to be a part of this groundbreaking production. Zoey has been enchanting audiences for years with her portrayal of badass girl-bosses like Sandy from Grease and Fantine from Les Miserables. Zoey would like to thank her brother, Zack, for giving her the acting bug all the way back in the third grade! It’s ironic that Zack thought he was the actor of the family but Zoey would go on to completely overshadow him in every way. Sucks to suck, doesn’t it, Zachary? Zoey would also like to thank her roommate and fellow cast member Hailey! Hailey is perfectly cast in her very small and inconsequential part. The role of Marge is just so uninteresting and one dimensional that it helps mask Hailey’s limited range as an actress, as well as other flaws, such as not being pretty enough to pull off an ingenue. Enjoy the show and be sure to check out (can’t read due to finger covering it sorry :{) for spicy pics.
RUTH FLEMING (Secretary #4) is so fucking stoked for her acting debut! This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I mean, her. Ruth ran the lights for her school’s shitty production of The Barbeque Monologues and was also the Assistant Stage Manager for The Wizard of Oz…it sucked. She got bullied and excluded by the whole cast even though her job was just as important as theirs. More important actually! Being in the cast is way better. You don’t even have to think of an excuse to barge into the dressing rooms you can just walk right in! Everybody takes off their shirts and lets their titties tumble free! It’s the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen…I mean she’s ever seen. Anyways, Ruth doesn’t want to thank anybody because nobody did anything for her.
CASSANDRA KING (Eve) is elated to be present with you fellow vessels in these fleeting moments. Everything has transpired exactly as the lights in the sky foretold. Cassie had never been a believer in prophecy or the ethereal spaces between…but she’s seen too much to deny the truth now. She no longer fears the visions, or the pain that comes along with their descent. Pain is the price of knowledge. Pain is the language that unites the children of Azathoth, no matter which star they may hail from. Cassie wants to see what lies at the end of the cold hall. She’s ready to see the face of the girl screaming in the dark. How did she find herself aboard? And what is the destination of such a magnificent she? Is tonight the night Cassie departs? The lights give no answer. And so she waits for deliverance. Cassie would also like to thank her boyfriend Chris.
HAILEY DILMORE (Marge) is so lucky to be a part of the best cast in the world! She has no idea how she managed to worm her way into this talented group of ladies! You may recognize Hailey as a Pink Lady from Grease or Disciple #3 from Godspell. Hailey would like to thank her fellow cast member, Zoey Chambers. Zoey has been an inspiration, a mentor, and, above all, a friend. She’d also like to thank her parents and her dog, Walter. Also, she’d like to apologize to the cast once again for blowing up the bathroom every single day during rehearsal. She’s so sorry she made it stink so bad that everybody had to cross the street to use the toilet in Bank of America. She really doesn’t know what’s happening to her bowels. She will be going to the doctor after the show closes and get everything sorted out. Enjoy the show!
okay my main takeaway from these is that zoey’s the worst and there is a Bank of America across the street from the Starlight Theatre which means i have to update my hatchetfeild map
MORE PLAYBILL!!
THE BARBEQUE MONOLOGUES
The Tony-award winning musical serves up a well done tale of one typical American suburb. When folks gather around the grill, they share so much more than a dug out and a cold one. Secrets, obsession(?), dreams and betrayal, these are some of the entrees at the barbeque.
BLINKY’S WATCH PARTY
A musical extravaganza through Drowseytown! It will be oh so wonderful to see you again, Bill! Yes Bill, I’m talking to you. Don’t bother showing this to Ted. No one else will able to see it. But I can see you, Bill. I’ve been watching you, with Nine-Hundred and Ninety Nine Eyes. One short, thanks to your little twist(?). It’s time I get you back, Bill. What’s the old expression? “An eye for an eye” Hahahahahahahahahaha!
MAMMA MIA!
A terrible show about sad women singing ABBA. A truly miserable experience, I can’t stress that enough. This show will make you hate ABBA as well as all musicals. You’ll never want to listen to ABBA’s two good songs ever again. Beware, friend. Beware. Abandon all hope ye who enter here.
SANTA CLAUS IS GOING TO HIGH SCHOOL!
i can’t read it at all sorry :{
JUST GOT THE CHANCE TO WATCH WORKIN BOYS AND AS WITH EVERY HATCHETFEILD PRODUCTION I AM AMAZED BY THE CALLBACKS IN THE SCORE AND DIALOGUE

Happy FFWF! What's your favorite title you've given a fic? Why?
okay so i looked through ALL of my posted fics, including my ~secret identity~ and my it account, and i’m too indecisive to pick a FAVORITE favorite, so here are the ones i can’t choose between, in no particular order
• sea green, see blue
this one isn’t marvel, it’s my ron/harry one shot that i’m still planning to write a sequel for eventually, but this title just HITS me okay?? i love this fic a lot too, like i put say more thought and effort into this bitch than i needed to, and i spent literal HOURS of my time trying to think of a name for it, and then i found this song while listening to a playlist of music that was on how i met your mother, because himym is one of my favorite shows and had so many great songs in it and oftentimes i’ll find such good lines in those songs—case and point being this one, which, while the lyrics don’t FULLY fit how i think of ron/harry, the title of the song fits the fic PERFECTLY, because the entire central point and theme of the fic is the two of them seeing each other—how they think, how they act, how strong and smart the other is. it’s all about their perception of each other and harry, green eyes, seeing ron, blue eyes, who sees harry right back. it’s just. i love it. SO much.
• when healing hurts
this title is kind of self explanatory and not hard to grasp, but i still just love it a lot, especially since it perfectly grasps the main part of why i wanted this fic to be in this series and why i wanted to write it in the first place. peter’s healing factor is incredible and is written about a lot but i just always think about how there are situations where his healing would be agonizing, and i’ve read fics that explore that but i wanted to write my own version of it that fit into the series, and the title gives the two main points of the fic—healing and pain, and how they can go hand in hand. idk i just think it’s nice and suits the fic really well!!
• the portal closed
again, self explanatory title once you read the fic, but that’s kind of the entire point of it! this is a fic about a different version of the mcu, one where everything changed due to a singlilar event going differently—tony not making it out before the portal closed. and this is an exploratorion of everything that follows from that point. it’s simple but it’s exactly the purpose of the title and i get so excited whenever i open the doc to work on it (which i need to do since i haven’t updated in a hot minute) and it’s just v satisfying to me!!
• hold me (like the night sky holds the moon)
lol so ~secret identity~ (even though anyone i’ve been in a marvel discord server with knows this) but this is my other account where i post anything that includes ~spicy~ content just bc i like having it completely separate from my main fics since a majority of my fics don’t actually include explicit content, HOWEVER i love this fic and the title and wanted to include it anyway! this entire one shot was directly inspired by three songs written by anson seabra and i don’t even remember how i got the idea but i rememver listening to those three songs (especially broken, which i still listen to very regularly) on repeat and busting this fic out in like a day or two, and the title comes from one of those songs (this one, specifically) and it just. it captures the point!!! the point of the fic!!! is peter going from “fuck it i ruined my life and i’m still ruining it and now i’m just living what’s left of it and that’s just what it is” and then making it to “this is still hard and i’m scared and i’m sad but you helped me see what i wasn’t seeing before and i’m so grateful for you and i want you to be here and me to be with you even though that scares me even more” and the song is just AAAAA !! the title is so poetically lovely and from the song that CAPTURES THE ENTIRE POINT and just. wow.
anyway.
• butterflies and storms and ooey-gooey feelings
i have no justification for this other than i think it’s a really cute title for a really cute one shot
• fall into your blue
so this is also a lyric from a song (any jon bellion fans? anyone? hello?) that i was so grateful to realize fit this fic because this was also a fic i remember spending HOURS trying to brainstorm a name for, and i just happened to be listening to jon bellion and this song came on and i was like,,,, wait. this fic isn’t complete (but i did recently get back into my it fics a little bit and started rewriting the second part) but the premise behind the fic is these guys, two different separate people, who are in their senior year of high school and who are getting ready to become adults and have their whole futures ahead of them but they can’t do that yet because there is so much behind them that they need to address and deal with, and they meet and they fall into each other and help each other and end up being the people they needed to help them through this last year of really being like a high school student.
they’re both sad—aka blue. they fall into each other. hence, the lyric fall into your blue being literally the PERFECT lyric for this.
• empty world
i’ve mentioned this fic before on this account because it is still my favorite thing that i’ve literally ever written so far in my life, but the title is also very important to me and to the fic. it has a double meaning!! this fic is three parts, right? part one is richie being forced to grow up in a world that is literally empty—he doesn’t know why, but everyone else is just gone, in the blink of an eye, and he’s alone, and it slowly gets more and more apparent that this loneliness gets to him and all he wants is to see his friends again, to see eddie again. part two is eddie growing up in a world where richie is “missing” and they can’t find him no matter how hard they try, and he runs on empty hoping that richie will shownup one day, and bases so much of his life around the fact that he knows a huge part of it is missing, and he may have the rest of the losers and he may go to college and get a job, but he still feels empty because he knows that a vital part of him is just gone. part three is the reunion and the aftermath and how they try to process the fact that all of this happened in the first place and the fight against pennywise and all of that, and then they win and that emptiness is gone because the losers are all together, eddie and richie are together, and they get to have the rest of their lives like this. there’s so much meaning packed into the words empty world that it’s insane!!
plus i wrote a literal song in order to have good names for the chapters, as well. so
part one — “i have not seen your face in so long” aka richie and being alone, doing everything he can to never forget the losers and eddie and trying to picture what they might look like as he gets older since he never got the chance to see them grow up with him
part two — “but i will never forget your name” aka eddie doing what he can to live his life after having to accept there’s nothing else he can do to try and find richie but in every single thing he does he remembers the boy he loved anyway and it constantly weighs him down
part three — “without you, this is an empty world” aka they feel that emptiness in them start to fill up and heal once they’re together again and they get their happy ending
• an old heart, a new home
another one that feels a bit self explanatory once you’ve read the fic, but it’s a reddie fic and this is a marvel blog so i doubt anyone has or will pfjjf, but the title captures the fic! an old heart (eddie, due to being cursed to live forever until blah blah magic magic i can’t remember the specifics—and to an extend, richie, too, since he is a reincarnation of the man eddie originally fell in love with) a new home (the apartment building, each other). plus this is a fic series that i’ve been considering taking down and turning into an original book for a while now, and if i did i’d keep the name the same bc i feel like it fits so well !!
and that’s it :D i listed too many but oh well !!

While I have no time to draw I found that thing from twitter and I don't think it would be bad if I post at least anything till I'll be free to draw?? and let's say that's just one another post before I'll finally add some of It in my blog
I'll just answer all in one post let's go, guys
(Movies & mini series & book mixed)
1. Favorite female character
I don't think there're a lot of 'em lol. But
Patricia Uris
That's right, not Beverly. Patti has one(!) chapter and somehow I fell in love with her character while reading it. She's got her own story before Stan and she's got a very very very beautiful relationships with him.
(I'm so in love with Uris family I mean whyyyy can't I just have some Stan with his pretty wife and a CHILD THANK U VERY MUCH)
2. Favorite male character
RICHIE
I'm just in love with him he's perfect next
3. Worst character
Bill?
OK, let's talk about it. I was kinda neutral to everyone in the Loser club except Richie for a year or more. Then while being in fandom I fell in love with these guys like with everyone of 'em concluding Bill. But when I decided to actually read a book... why is he so stupid and careless and fjligvdsvfuklugxseggh
Moron.
I really tried not to be "of course u let kid go alone what will happen right??" but this.fucking.weather.this.fucking.fact.that.Georgie.told.him.he.was.about.to.go.to.the.closed.area.u.know.closed.bc.it.was.dangerous.to.go.there like BOY, u killed ur brother when he stepped out of the house HAVE U EVEN LOOKED TO THE WINDOW???? Was it ur plan how to get rid of him bc he was clever and better than u and everyone loved him more? Bc if it was, well, congratulations! it worked not like u expected but still worked!
I'm bullying Bill Denbro in my house I wish for the alternative version with George as a main character instead of him-
4. Favorite scene
Richie and Beverly dancing together
I LOVE their friendship they're like BEST BROTP EVER
I love all their interactions and I find it SO ADORABLE they danced together I always think about it ...about 'em
5. Favorite member of the Loser club
Well, again? Fine. RICHIE
6. Original or remake?
I'd say book? But if we're talking only about films when of course remake
I saw mini series some time ago and that was cute and had a lot from the book (and abult Eddie-) but it was so naive and looked kinda stupid (sorry everyone but I'm the new auditory and I can't get that seriously especially after new films) while new films... Weeelll...
Let's be honest, I saw It 2017 only bc of James McAvoy in the second chapter and I found it boring. And then the second part I found more like a comedy than horror. I didn't like films that time but I liked characters (Richie). Some weeks ago I rewathed both It 2017 and It 2019 and second one is still too long and a comedy but first I found interesting
So remake is great at least on the second time watching and that's enough
7. Reddie?
Reddie is always the answer it's never a question cuz the answer is YES all the answers YES
8. Ben of Bill?
Oh that's a question for me and my hate to Bill!
Ben OF COURSE
Not only bc I hate Bill, Ben is awesome himself. In films he was more leader for the Losers that Bill and Mike like together?? And have u seen that he did fo Henry in the book? Damn boy u're way too cool slow down
9. Best ship
Look question 7
10. Worst ship
OK it took a lot time to find the one bc I don't think there's any ship I would actually hate or smth but if thiiink Bill × Beverly
First, bc Bill?? Seriously?? Go and find someone better, my girl
Second, bc Ben and Bev have much more chemistry (god, Richie and Bev have more chemistry and this tells the person who would kill for reddie)
11. Book or movie?
Book
(and if u say the book is too big I swear I-)
12. Tim or Bill as Pennywise
Why do u need to ask such difficult questions?? I mean, I love every version of Pennywise no matter if it's book or 1990 or 2017-2019 they all are great in their own ways
So both Tim and Bill have an extreme charisma, different but equal in power
I like Tim's Penny bc he's simple and warm I mean c'mon I would definetly hug him or anything and die happy, I mean, he just got ur trust??? And I like how bad effects make him seams not like an awful monster who will eat u but like a friendly mischief (listen me up: he makes sink dirty right after Bev cleaned it up like phhhhhhhhahaha really u're a moron u know). Yeah, that's not that Pennywise is meant to be but that's adorable
And I love Bill's version bc he does look scary (in a some way, of course). Yeah yeah new effects are doing their work and the costume is less friendly than Tim's but the most important is Bill's acting. His mimic and expressions are perfect he fits this role way too good. And, damn, he's so funny like... Yeah, I'd spend my last minutes with him he's great, that would be the most hilarious death I could ever get
So... can I just say both??
13. Funniest character
Do u really see this as a question??
Richie. The funniest guy ever. I would go to his stand-up. I would buy his merch. I would buy hi- AHEMAHEM
Seriously, I found him irritating watching 1st movie first time but after 2d started I've changed my mind he's a diamond that makes films better like he's the only reason I didn't fall asleep while watching 2d part
14. Worst character fear
OK, let's say we don't count the book here. Bc, u know, the fears in the book was, well, like actually kid's fears. Like someone just saw a horror film great now they've got a deep emotional trauma that's like kids work.
So saying about movies...
Stan
Does anyone really got what's wrong with that painting?? I mean???? Just an art what's wrong with u, Stan, do u like... hate art???
I do not get it, plz, if u do, just explain me bc I have no fucking idea why should it be a normal fear that's stupid
15. Favorite actor from the film
James McAvoy
Like I said I went to this fandom ONLY bc of him
16. Favorite adult character
Do u think they grew up and anything changed? Hell no!
Richie
Forever Richie
17. Worst encounter with Pennywise
None? I really can't name u anything bc they all are great at leeeeast bc of Pennywise taking part in it. The scene with him can NOT be worst
(but still-
Eddie's such a stupid brave boy like WHY does he always need to go to scary deadly places I mean are u going to die of what????)
(in the book he just decided that was a great idea to actually try to get into the Neibolt house like ????????????????? U FUCKING BRAVE IDIO-)
18. Worst jump scare
I don't pay attention to any jump scares sorry
None
But I can name my fav! Mrs. Kersh. Not bc she's scary but SO FUNNY OMG
(and in mini series she IS scary, yeah...)
19. Favorite quote
Everything Richie says
20. Least favorite ship
Stanbro
This ship is really great: there're reasons why it's existing and the ship dynamic is good but... I hhhaaaateeee Biiilllllly. And that's the whole problem, yes. Blame me but I can't love otp if I don't like one of the characters
21. Favorite fan account
Don't follow any
22. Favorite Pennywise quote
Is he saying anything??
Alright-alright I know how it looks. "U say u love Penny but don't remember any of the words he's saying". Yes! All I remember is that everything he says is cool but, yeah, sorry, I have nothing in my head
23. Best friendship
RICHIE TOZIER
&
BEVERLY MARSH
24. Richie or Bill?
Who the fuck will choose Bill?????? Richie's the best
I mean, u want me to choose between my fav one and the one I hate most? really?
25. Eddie or Ben?
Not lying to u that's a difficult question. I like both of 'em so I needed a list with +s and -s of each one
Eddie:
+ Jack Dilan Grayser's face
+ the thing with hand
+ u can joke about his mom
+ s.h.o.r.t.s
+ he's mean I like ppl like that (I'm person like that)
+ can kill u with the knife just stuck in his cheek
+ healer
+ brave as hell
- he's SO loud
- non human speed of talking
- most of the time he's a wimp, let's be honest
- DEAD
- has scary tendencies of amputation everything
- not Riche's husband somehow
- mindlessly brave as hell
- FIVE
- PARAGRAPHS
- OF
- OBSCURE
- MEDICINE
- STUFF
in his very first chapter
Ben:
+ an architect (i concider all of 'em like gods)
+ punctual. If he said he'll be in ur bar on Saturday when he'll be doesn't matter he's in London right now
+ I tell u he's a hidden leader
+ can drink and stay sober
+ HE
+ PUNCHED
+ HENRY'S
+ BALLS
- wrote a haiku I don't like haiku
- minuses are ended
So Ben has less +s but less -s if u compare to his +s. So, sorry, Eds, but Ben
26. Funniest scene
Every with Richie
27. Least favorite male characters
I can't just say Bill again, right? Or I caaan???
Bill
28. Most underrated character
MIKE
I see ppl love every character even the once that has really small time (STAN) but I haven't seen so much ppl loving Mike. Everyone kinda... forgot about him?? What an irony
29. Favorite edit
Every with Richie
30. Is fack real?
No
Plz don't ship real ppl

Wild Youth: 4, 11, and 13 and Giving up the Ghost: 2, 3, 9? 💖
Thanks so much for the asks @yossariandawn!! I love doing these!! :D
Wild Youth
4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue? Pretty much this little exchange were my favorite bits of dialogue for this story:
“Good to know you’re not just using me for my body then,” he says, feigning annoyance.
“Because you’ve got such a great personality, right?” Kate teases.
I live for Seth being offended!! XD
11: What do you like best about this fic? THAT I FINISHED IT. NO. REALLY. lmfao It’s the first multi chapter fic I’ve ever completed. istg I’m still working on ghost, but completing my stories is still a new concept for me even though I’ve been writing fic off and on for about a decade now... COMPLETING THINGS IS SO IMPORTANT, Y’ALL. THAT’S MY #1 TIP FOR WRITING. FINISH WHAT YOU START.
13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading? I didn’t usually listen to music while I was writing this fic... I find it wayyyyy too distracting. I need ABSOLUTE SILENCE TO WRITE. lol But I posted a playlist for the fic [HERE].
::
Giving up the Ghost
2: What scene did you first put down? Okay so the first scene I wrote isn’t one that’s actually been published yet... but it involved some... *ahem* biting. EEEEEEEEE
Just so y’all don’t lose interest in this story--since it’s actually taking me EONS TO WRITE IT--here’s a lil sneak peek for you!! :P
“You won’t hurt me,” she says with a certainty in her voice that he doesn’t even feel in himself.
It’s there in her heartbeat. She’s not afraid.
She should be.
After all the shit he’s done in his life, she’s been the one thing he hasn’t ruined. But fuck, he doesn’t think he has it in him to resist her now.
And Seth’s never been great at self-restraint.
Oh, he’s a bad, bad man.
He tips her head to the side, further baring that pale skin. The scent of her is everywhere now, so powerful that he can’t stop his fangs from splitting his gums. There’s a birth mark at her jugular, over which he decides would make the perfect place to slot his lips.
In a move faster than either of them anticipates, he latches onto her throat. Kate cries out, tensing as his fangs sink deep into her skin, small whimpers falling from her lips as he begins to suck. But he’s already lost to the taste of her. It’s unlike anything he’s ever experienced, in this life or the one that came before. Every high from a hit or orgasm pales in comparison with the satin elegance of Kate’s blood singing on his tongue. Her innocence is a palatable thing, so sweet, like an explosion of beauty in his mouth. Like being lost in the near perfect splendor of the most expensive wine he’s ever had the pleasure of sampling.
No. Better.
For the first time, he’s not ashamed she’s a virgin.
There’s more to this, obviously. lol I promise I am still working on this story and have no plans to give up on it!! It’s just a pain in the ass to write!! I WANNA GET TO THIS SCENE SOOOO BAD!!
3: What’s your favorite line of narration? haha omg I think it might have to be this bit from chapter 1:
Not for the first time, Seth wonders if Richie had been deprived of oxygen on his way out of the birth canal, because—in spite of that big brain of his—Richard’s got the biggest boner for committing dumbassery of magnitudes the likes of which Seth has never seen.
Runner up might be this one:
Violence had just been another word for love growing up in Ray Gecko’s house.
9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic? Nope!! So far everything I’ve written has been planned down to the very last detail. I’ve written out detailed notes for several chapters. Although, I do feel like there does come a point where this story could take one of two very different roads and I haven’t decided yet which one it will be...
ASK ME: Questions about my fanfic!!

Meet me in the past part 7
A/N: This is part seven to: ‘meet me in the past’. Omg this is the final part! I can’t believe I actually managed to finish it haha! Thank you so much for all the support and for the comments It means so so much to me honestly! But yeah, it’s kinda sad that the story’s over haha! If anyone wants like some one shots based of this then you can request them but yeah this is it! Please let me know what you think!!
Summary: After Stanley Uris takes his own life, his daughter goes to find the recipients of his letters and ends up in Derry. After an encounter with IT, she ends up traveling back into the past, meeting the younger version of her dad and his friends.
warnings: cursing, mentions of suicide
tagging; @artlovingbre @cocastyle @l0ve-0f-my-life
‘Little hummingbird, hey wake up,’ Emily heard someone whisper to her when she finally regained consciousness. She groaned; her head was killing her. She reached her hand up to rub against her head, but a hand intercepted hers. ‘Don’t do that, you’ll just worsen the bruise,’ someone said to her. Emily’s eyes flew open. She recognized that voice.
She was laying on her back, on a chair that had fallen, and it was pressing harshly into her back. She furrowed her eyebrows, looking only at the ceiling, because she was disoriented and very dizzy and couldn’t quite manage to lift her head up. It seemed like she was back in the Chinese restaurant where she met the adult losers, as she recognized the awful wallpaper. She didn’t know what to expect, not after everything that had happened to her, but she could have sworn she heard...
‘Emily are you okay?’ The same voice called out again. Emily’s eyes filled up with tears straight away, her bottom lip trembling. She looked to her left, towards her father who was crouched down next to her, his eyes looking over her worriedly.
‘Dad’, Emily croaked out, the first tears beginning to fall. Stan’s hand dropped from Emily’s forehead to her hand, squeezing to convey the words he didn’t say; are you alright? She wasn’t, not all. It wasn’t young Stan she was seeing, it was her adult dad, the one who had raised her, the one who had helped her with her homework and who taught her how to write and speak properly, this was her dad. Her mouth opened and closed a few times, no words but a broken sob flowing out. At the sound Stan looked even more worried, if that was possible, his words tumbling out in a panic.
‘Are you alright? Does it hurt so much? You’ve taken a lot of tumbles before I thought this was just like other times,’ as he was speaking, he tried to get her upright, ‘but if it hurts that bad maybe we should get you to a hospital,’ her father worried. Emily couldn’t even think of the words to respond to that.
‘Okay, I got ice’, Mike stood in the doorway, raising his arms in a gesture, a loving but worried smile on his face. Emily’s attention was pulled from her father, for about five seconds, but it was enough for her to see that it was not just her and her dad, every other member of the losers club was seated aswell. Richie closest to her, followed by Bev and Eddie, who had placed his hands on Richie’s shoulder, and Bill who alongside Ben, was picking up shards of glasses in the floor next to her father. She quickly looked back at her father, worried that he might have disappeared in the small time she wasn’t looking at him, but he was still there. ‘Here’, Mike said, caustically approaching the both of them, as if he sensed that something was about to go down.
‘Thank you’, Stan said, taking the ice pack from Mike’s hands but not looking away from Emily. He opened his mouth to say something again, but before the first syllable even left his mouth, Emily grabbed onto his jacket, using it to pull herself upright and hug him like it was the last thing she would ever get to do. She sobbed, almost painfully, and she could feel that everyone was looking at her, but she was too busy crying to respond to it.
She buried her head in Stan’s shoulder, who had started to card his hand through Emily’s hair. ‘Hey, hey it’s alright sweetheart, you’re okay’, he mumbled, though he didn’t sound so sure himself. The ice pack was still in his hand, and with the one he wasn’t using to calm Emily down, he held it to the side of her head, trying to get to the wound as best he could. ‘How are you here?’ Emily cried out, shivering when the ice pack was firmly pressed against her. Stan planted a kiss on the top of her head, ‘what do you mean?’ He asked, and he sounded genuinely confused.
‘What day are we, why are we here. No wait why are you here’? Emily was still so confused. Did she do something in the past to change whatever happened in the future?
‘Maybe we should get her to hospital?’ Eddie reasoned, and she heard Ben hum affirmatively. Emily panicked; she did not want to go to the hospital at all.
I’m alright, I’m alright’, she repeated, pulling back from her dad but still keeping his sleeve tucked tight into her fist. Stan would hate that she knew, because it would form a ton of wrinkles, but he didn’t say anything and just looked at Emily.
She sniffled, whipping her tears away. She had never in her life cried so much as the last few weeks, and she was getting kind off tired of it, she just wanted to stop crying.
She shot her dad a hesitant smile, which he dutifully returned, though Emily could see him rub his hands on his pants, a sign he was nervous.
‘I think I remember, just tell me again so I’m sure,’ Emily lied, using her poker face as to not give away the fact that that was bullshit. She still had no idea how she got here.
Stan stared at her probably to gauge if she was lying or not, but he must not have seen anything for he started to explain regardless.
‘Mike called me to have a reunion with my friends, and because you asked me to come I took you with me remember?’ Stan explained. Emily scrunched her nose up, why would her dad take her with him? And what changed with the last time Mike called?
‘Then you fell backwards when Richie over there pretended to see a cockroach.’
‘Yeah, sorry kiddo’, Richie sheepishly said from behind Emily.
‘What about IT,’ Emily asked without thinking. Stan’s entire body froze up, and if it weren’t for the circumstances, Emily would have laughed.
‘What the fuck’, she heard Richie say, and she turned around to him and the other losers. Eddie’s mouth was dropped open, and Mike sunk down in his seat, staring towards Emily. The others were looking at her with varying amounts of shock.
‘How, how do you know about IT?’ Stan stammered. Emily turned back to him, but she did not know how to respond at all. ‘I don’t know never mind’, Emily was quick to counter, she had no idea why she asked that question, as she didn’t know how to answer it.
‘Emily’, her father said, placing his hand on her shoulder. Emily was breathing quite heavily, in a panic of the reaction of her dad and his friends. ‘Emily it’s okay, I’m not mad, just tell me. You’re not in trouble’, Stan said comfortingly.
‘I just know okay, I know about IT.’ Emily replied, her voice still shaking slightly.
‘But you’ve got to know somehow, I didn’t even remember, let alone told you about any of this, so how do you know?’
‘Can you please just answer my question?’ Emily asked, desperate for the attention to be turned off her.
‘IT didn’t wake up again’, Mike answered her, ‘I guess we really did defeat it was kids, because it hasn’t made any killings, nor has any child gone missing.’
Emily breathed out a sigh of relief. Good. That must have been the reason her father was here, alive.
Emily reached for Richie’s glass on the table, filled to the brim with w whatever drink there was, chucking it down. She could feel her dad’s gaze burning the side of her head, but she didn’t realize why until she spit out the drink a few seconds later.
Richie had a devilish smile on his face, shrugging when Emily looked at him betrayed.
‘I’m an adult man, I get to drink vodka’.
Stan wordlessly handed her his drank, which was plain water.
‘Thanks,’ she muttered. She didn’t have a clue why, but she was thirsty.
‘This is just like when Henry gave me a black eye and Richie told me that I should just drink some alcohol to get my mind off the pain.’ She laughed.
‘Richie did what now?’ Bill chocked on his own drink.
‘Henry bowers gave you a black eye,’ Stan yelled out in a questioning tone.
Emily had a lot of explaining to do.
----------------------------------------------------------------
‘Wait’, Ben said, ‘I think I remember that. You were with u defeating IT weren’t you?’
Emily nodded sheepishly, her leg bouncing up and down nervously. She didn’t dare to make eye contact with her dad, something she had not yet done since starting her story.
She tried to look as innocently as possible, but from the looks the losers were casting behind her, she knew she was not succeeding.
‘You’, Stan started off, his tone so devoid of emotion it made Emily shiver.
‘You went back in time, you faced Henry Bowers, got beat up and then fought IT?’ Stan’s voice went up a few octaves the longer he spoke, his voice near hysterics when he finished.
Emily looked at him dubious, she didn’t want her dad to be mad at her, but she was going to stand up for herself.
‘I didn’t really have all that much choice, it’s not like I chose to go to the past. It wasn’t a conscious thought, but what else was I supposed to do when I ended up there?’ Emily asked, trying to sound as confidently as possible.
‘Yeah, what’s up with that,’ Eddie asked, his nose scrunched up as he thought things over. ‘Aren’t you wondering how that happened? Like statistically the odds of something like that happening are like zero.’
‘Can we not ask these questions, I just found out my daughter fought a demon clown that we all had nightmares about. The how is not important.’ Stan was practically yelling, turning a bit red in the face with contained anger.
‘Dad’, Emily tried hesitantly, but she was cut off before being able to say anything else.
‘Don’t Emily not right now’, Stan said, and Emily had never heard him so mad at her before.
He grabbed her shoulders, turning her towards him. His grip was firm but not harsh, because her dad could never be violent with her. Still though, it showed that he meant business.
‘Why would you ever do that’
You put yourself in so much danger do you understand that? Do you have any idea what could’ve happened to you? Do you know how heartbroken me and your mother would have been if you would have ended up hurt, or even worse dead?’ Stan asked her, shaking her a bit, maintaining eye contact for the entire time he spoke.
Richie laughed nervously; ‘Stan, Stan the man, maybe you shouldn’t.’
Stan looked at Richie, taking a deep breath when he did, realizing his hands from Emily shoulders. ‘I’m sorry, I just need you to know that that was so dangerous, and I never ever want you to do that again.’
Emily frowned, this wasn’t her fault, why would her dad blame this on her?
‘No, I didn’t know what could happen to me, cause you didn’t write me a letter to explain it.’ Emily responded.
Stan frowned at her, she had told him everything, covering up the fact that he killed himself by saying that something happened to him but she didn’t want to talk about that yet, and everyone had accepted that. She hadn’t told him about the letters either, but she realized that she really wanted an answer. It had been eating away at her from the moment she found the other letters, and she needed to know before she would ever be able to let go of what she had seen happen to Stan. She would never be able to look at her dad without questioning.
‘You wrote everyone letters except me, why not me? Did I not have a right to know what was happening?’
Despite her annoyance, she could feel the tears creeping up on her again. The fact that Stan still looked mostly bewildered was not helping.
Emily looked around her, she wasn’t sure if she should say something about her father’s suicide to the others, maybe she should just wait until she was alone with him.
When she glanced at her dad again, he smiled at her encouragingly.
‘It’s okay,’ he murmured, ‘you can tell them everything you want to tell me.’
Emily took a deep breath, she knew that she might hurt her father a lot with the knowledge she was about to spread, but’s he also that Stan would want to know, and now that she had given a piece of her information, Stan would not give up until he knew the full story.
‘You wrote letters,’ Emily said slowly, though she wasn’t sure if it was to prepare her dad or herself. ‘Suicide letters.’
She heard collective gasped from the other losers, though the loudest came from Mike, but Stan’s face remained stoic.
Emily let a few tears fall, thinking back to the moment she saw her mother burst through the door, and her scream tearing throughout the entire house, despite her dad still being alive now, she didn’t think she would be able to enter that bathroom for a long time.
Stan pulled her into a hug, and Emily let him, though she didn’t was worried about him, and about his lack of reaction.
‘I thought about it’, Stan confused when Emily couldn’t watch him anymore. ‘When Mike called, before he told me that IT hadn’t come back, but he had missed us and he wanted a reunion. Although I’m sure the bastard also wanted us here right now just in case IT did decide to make an appearance.’ Stan let out a wet laugh, and Emily laughed with him.
‘But then I remember small pieces of my friends, and I thought about your mom and you, and I couldn’t do it. Having Mike tell me IT was dead helped a bit too I suppose.’
‘I don’t know about writing any letters, I didn’t think about that now, but I’m sure that the only reason I didn’t write you a letter then,’ Stan took a big gulp, and now Emily was pressed against him she could feel how bad he was trembling. ‘I’m sure the only reason was because I didn’t want to cause you any more pain. I didn’t want you to go to Derry or be put in danger, I didn’t want you to have the same traumas as I did. I’m sorry.’
Emily shook her head, leaning back as she looked her dad up and down. He was alright, he wasn’t dead, and he was right here with her.
‘It’s alright just, don’t ever do that to me again okay?’
Stan smiled sadly but nodded none the less.
‘Scouts honor’, he joked. The losers all laughed too, Richie coming up and patting Stan on the shoulder. He opened his mouth, but Stan’s; ‘don’t you dare say it Tozier’, was quick to interrupt.
Richie laughed, but listened to Stan for once it seemed, as he kept quiet. The losers broke out in chatter amongst themselves again, their attention now finally away from Stan and his daughter.
‘Hey’, Stan said when he deemed it private enough to speak again. ‘I love you, you know that right? I couldn’t have asked for a better daughter, I’m so proud of you.’ Stan kisses Emily on the forehead, immediately after
Beginning a conversation with Bill who was seated next to him, probably to avoid Emily becoming embarrassed. He was an ‘old man’ after all, as Emily had often joked. She looked around the table, Eddie was already pulling her into the conversation he was having with Bev and Ben. Sweet kind Ben who was already throwing a smile her way without her even doing anything to earn it. Just like when they were kids, the accepted Emily into their group as if she had always belonged there. she could see her dad cast her sideway glances, looking out for her.
Emily’s heart swelled with love for all the people she was seeing, and she knew in that moment, that she would be grateful for every single day she would get to spend with all these amazing people, especially her dad.

Summary: Richie gets his heart broken on a Thursday.
Richie gets his heart broken on a Thursday. He can’t even say he’s surprised. Confused, maybe. Definitely dejected. But not surprised. He's always had a hard time holding on to the good things in his life, so why should Eddie be any different? That doesn't make it hurt any less, though.
He wishes he could say it starts out like any other day, but something like dread makes a home somewhere deep in his chest when he's woken up at noon by two text messages from Eddie.
12:14 - Baby: We need to talk. 12:14 - Baby: Can I come over?
Nobody likes a "we need to talk" text, but cryptic undertones aside, since they started dating all those years ago, Eddie has never once asked for permission to come over.
He tries to brush it off. “It’s probably nothing.” Richie thinks to himself, laughing at his inane ability to jump to the worst possible conclusions, ever. “There’s plenty of shit he could want to talk to me about in person. Maybe he wants a dog, a little Pomeranian or something cute like him, or maybe he wants to move in together, or maybe he’s ready to take our relationship to the next level, or maybe...”
Richie sends back a quick “of course. see u soon” before he forgets, then busies himself with taking a quick shower and making a breakfast smoothie for the two of them.
It's 12:47 when Eddie knocks on his door. Eddie never knocks anymore. Richie gave him a key years ago so that he didn’t have to.
He opens the door warily, stepping back to let Eddie inside. His Eds was wearing a knit cap, and scarf to combat the harsh winds, and Richie was pretty sure that those were mittens on his hands, God his boyfriend was the cutest. “Eds,” Richie greets, going in for a hug and kiss, but Eddie shakes his head, grimacing a little. He steps back to put a little bit of space between himself and Richie.
“Let me start off by saying that I love you.” Eddie mumbles, staring at the carpet.
“Okay?” Richie prompts, confused. His eyes search Eddie’s face. “Eds, come on, my floor isn’t that interesting. Please look at me.”
Eddie does, and his eyes are wet with tears that haven't yet spilled over. ”And I know that you love me,” He continues.
“Yes,” Richie nods emphatically, “more than anything.”
Eddie takes a deep, shuddering breath before soldiering on, “But this isn’t working out anymore. We’re,” He gestures between the two of them “not working out.” He doesn't say much more than that, doesn't try to explain himself. Richie wouldn't have wanted to hear it, anyway. “I’m sorry.”
It's one of the rare occasions that Richie Tozier has nothing to say. He nods slowly, mouth agape, like he wants to speak, but no words will come out.
They spend seconds or minutes, Richie has no idea, just looking at each other. Richie’s eyes were desperate and imploring, Eddie’s, glazed and distant. They're only standing a couple of feet apart but Richie's never felt further away.
Eventually, Richie breaks the silence, gesturing towards his kitchen. “Smoothie?” he offers weakly.
Eddie just looks at him some more. His eyes are sad, but his face is determined. He sighs once, and shakes his head ‘no’ before he turns on his heel and leaves. Richie can only stand there and watch, dumbfounded, as the love of his life walks out of his front door, and out of his life.
”But you love pineapple and spinach.” Richie whispers to the empty room.
He doesn't get a response.
+
Desolation and depression were old friends of Richie’s; in the sense that even if he could find a way to forget about them, ignore them, avoid them all together, all it took was one bad night and they were back in his life with an intensity like they missed him. They were good to him like that.
“ S' good to me. Than' you.” Richie slurs to his empty bedroom. “I missed you guys, too.”
He might’ve had too much to drink. It's been a while since he drank alcohol, and it's just really hard to keep track of how much you've drank when you’re not actually trying to keep track. The only thing Richie knows for sure right now is that he needs a lot more alcohol to make it through the night.
Richie checks his phone for the time, ignoring the unopened text alerts he’s been getting for the last two and a half weeks it’s been since Eddie dumped his ass out of the blue. It reads 1:17am, which means that he has about forty minutes until the dive bar closest to his place starts locking up.
It's a 15 minute walk, but he makes it there in 10.
“Richard.” His bartender (and sorta friend) Monty greets him when he stumbles through the door, limbs awkward and uncoordinated. “This is the fifth time I'm seeing you in as many days... and you look worse every single time I lay eyes on you. Anything you want to talk to me about? I can have this place cleared out in five minutes flat, just say the word.” A couple of people in the bar look up at that, but he pays them no mind.
Richie's touched. If he wasn't so fucking drunk already, he would've sat down and had a heart to heart with Monty about how the man he thought he’d marry someday just up and fucking walked out on him. But alas.
“Monty...Montague...Mont Everest... Mont-pel-er... You know like the capital of Virginia?”
“Vermont, but continue.” Monty corrects playfully, eyebrows raised in amusement.
“You say potato. Anyway, as much as I'd love to wax poetic about the five foot six inch cutie that broke my heart, I'd much rather forget that the last two weeks of my life even happened. What’ve you got for that?”
“Prayers, Richie. Lots and lots of prayers. But in the meantime,” he slides two glasses filled with something brown and strong towards Richie.
+
Had Richie not been such a fuck up, he never would’ve went to the bar that night. Had Richie not been so goddamn stupid, he probably would’ve noticed the group of men lurking in the alleyway across the street early enough to avoid them.
Had the alcohol not effected his judgement and sense of self-preservation, he wouldn’t have felt so tough, he wouldn’t have opened his mouth, he wouldn’t have started that fight.
Had Richie Tozier not been Richie Tozier for once in his life, he wouldn’t be laying on his back in a barely lit alley at 2:30 in the morning with at least a couple of cracked ribs, a possible punctured lung, and a head injury that was bleeding steadily.
Richie doesn't bother calling for help, wouldn’t be able to get the words out anyway.
He can't help thinking that if this is it for him, then there are worse ways to go.
“Worse than bleeding out in alley surrounded by trash and piss and shit and God knows what else? Richie that's disgusting.” a familiar voice in his head reprimands.
“Chill... Edward...Cullen,” Richie rasps, wincing in pain. It’s the last thing he remembers before the darkness overtook him.
+
Eddie makes the biggest mistake of his life on a Thursday. He never should’ve picked up his phone and texted Richie that morning, stressed off his ass, and mad at the world. He shouldn’t have put on his stupid coat, or got in his stupid car, waited in stupid traffic, to show up at boyfriend’s apartment to break up with him. And for what? Because Eddie was feeling insecure about how Richie felt about him? Because Eddie was worried (for whatever fucking reason) that Richie would get tired of him? He feels so fucking stupid.
People always assumed that Richie was the impulsive one in their relationship, acting before reacting. But Eddie knew firsthand that Richie is, and always has been, more calculated and levelheaded than he could ever dream of being. It took a lot to get Richie riled up, especially since he’d stopped drinking, but Eddie was constantly on a short fuse.
“Such a little ball of fury, you are.” Richie would tell him, pinching his cheeks. “Not enough room in your body to hold all your anger, Eds. So cute.”
“I’m not a little ball of fury and I'm not fucking cute, Richie!” He would yell back. And Richie would just smile at him like Eddie had just proved his point.
Eddie misses him the second he walks out of the door.
He decides to call Bill when he gets to his car.
"Hey Eddie, what's up?" His best friend greets, and the words come pouring out before Eddie has a chance to stop them. He talks until he's out of breath, and then he talks some more. He would've kept talking, too, if—
“I’m sorry,” Bill interrupts, “I must’ve misheard. You did what?”
“I broke up with Richie.” Eddie repeats, irritated.
“That son of a bitch—did he hurt you? Do you need me to—” But Eddie nips that one in the bud real quick.
“No, Bill, he didn’t hurt me. He didn’t do anything wrong.”
Bill’s voice sounds confused, “Then why?”
Because I’m a mess with chronic anxiety and self esteem issues and twenty-four years worth of emotional baggage and Richie deserves so much better than me? He thinks but doesn’t say.
“I don’t know, Billy. I really fucked up this time.”
Bill doesn't agree nor disagree with that statement. Instead he says, “It’s okay. You just need to figure yourself out, Eddie. Take some time to think about what you want, that's the most important thing. You have to be your first priority, or you'll never really be happy.”
“How’d you get so smart, huh, Big Bill?” Eddie asks, genuinely grateful that he has such a patient and protective best friend.
“Someone in this group has to be.” He chuckles, and Eddie curses him playfully.
They talk for a little while longer; about school, and work, and Bill’s upcoming date with Stan. After saying their goodbyes, Eddie's surprised to see that he feels a little bit better.
Bill's right; Eddie needs to figure himself out, get his head right. He knows it's gonna take a long time but he owes it to himself (and hopefully, someday again, to Richie) to be the best version of himself.
+
After a couple of days of moping and self-pity, things are starting to look up for Eddie. He isn’t necessarily enjoying “single life” but he's beginning to relish spending time on himself. He even takes a couple of days off from work to focus on his self care. He buys ginger tea and detoxifying face-masks and everything.
It's been two weeks and three days since their break up when a call wakes Eddie up out of a restless sleep.
“What?” he grouses at the unknown heathen who likes to call people at — he squints at his phone screen — 4:16 in the morning.
“Edward Kaspbrak?” A female voice intones.
“Speaking. Who is this?” He asks, immediately more alert.
“Marianne Nelson from Silver Lakes Hospital. There’s been an accident involving a Richard Tozier, and he has you listed as his emergency contact. How soon can you be here?”
+
Gays can’t drive, my ass Eddie thought as he pulls into a parking spot. He makes it to the hospital in record time and barely breaks any traffic laws to get there. No use to Richie if we both end up in the ER, he reminds himself.
Let it be known that Eddie Kaspbrak hates hospitals. Has ever since he was a kid. It's 100% due to the fact that his mother made him spend more time in emergency rooms and clinics than he did at school or with his friends.
That’s all behind him, though, at least for the moment, because the only thing on his mind right now is getting to Richie quick as possible. Marianne wouldn’t tell him anything over the phone, so he's completely in the dark, has no idea what kind of condition Richie is in.
“Edward Kaspbrak.” He announces when he reaches the receptionist's desk. “I’m here to see Richie Tozier. He’s my b—” Eddie cuts himself off. “I’m his emergency contact.” After his identification is verified, the receptionist politely gives him directions to Richie’s room.
Eddie doesn't exactly jog there, but it's a close thing.
He’s seen Richie sleeping in the past, countless times, but he's never looked so small before. And so pale. Richie's hooked up to all types of IVs and machines, he has cuts and bruises littering his face, and part of his head is shaved—but despite it all, he still looks very much like the boy that Eddie fell in love with so many years ago. He'd be reminiscing if he weren't so fucking scared.
“You can go in.” Calls a kind voice from behind him. Eddie nods without even looking to see who the voice belongs to, before he steps into the room and shuts the door softly behind him.
Eddie’s heart was going to beat out of his chest. Is that even possible? He thinks hysterically, then laughs a little, completely on edge. At least I’m in a hospital and they’ll be able to fix me right up. Good as new.
He makes himself as comfortable as possible, folding like a pretzel in the hospital chair. The room has magazines and a TV—for entertainment or distraction, he isn't sure—and there's coffee right outside the door if he needs it, but Eddie isn't planning on leaving any time soon. He stares at Richie’s sleeping face and hopes to God that he's resting well. “I’ll stay with you forever if you’ll let me." Eddie says, barely loud enough to be heard over the ventilators. “I'm so sorry, I won’t ever leave you again.”
He doesn’t get a response.
+
The first time Richie wakes up, he notices the lights. Too much, too bright, he thinks. They make his eyes sting and his head hurt, but he's out again before he can say anything about it.
The second time, Richie's more alert. He hears the steady beeping of machinery, smells the overpowering scent of clean, sterile. He can’t turn his head, though, can’t get his eyes to focus on anything, and before he knows it, they're fluttering shut again without his permission.
The third time Richie wakes up, there are big, brown eyes peering down at him. He recognizes those eyes before he can focus on the face they belong to. Eddie. Those heavenly brown eyes blink in surprise before they disappear from his line of sight. Richie vaguely hears yelling, but he can’t make out the words.
Next thing he knew, there're people all around him, nurses and various hospital personnel writing things down, and poking and prodding at him.
“Richard,” a voice that isn’t Eddie’s calls, “You won’t be able to talk just yet, but blink twice if you can hear me.”
Richie blinks twice, confused.
“Good to have you back with us, Richard. Do you know where you are? Blink once for no, twice for yes.”
Richie blinks once.
“You’re in the hospital. I’m Doctor Hasaan. You got pretty banged up the other night, but we’re going to take care of you. You’ve got some broken ribs, a subsequent punctured lung, and a pretty nasty concussion. Do you remember what happened?”
Richie blinks once.
“There was an accident, Richard. A pedestrian found you in an alleyway downtown, and called 911. I’m not surprised you don’t remember any of it, you hit your head pretty hard and your blood alcohol level was high when you were brought in." And that can't be right, Richie hasn't drank in years.
"Are you in any pain right now?” Dr. Hasaan questions.
It’s almost as if his question brings all of Richie’s sensory neurons back to life, and he's only just began to notice the aching pain in his head, throat, and chest.
Richie blinks twice.
“Alrighty.” The good doctor says, “We’ll give you something to help with that.” One of the nurses puts something in his IV. “Try to rest, Richard. We’ll have that tube out of your throat in no time, and you’ll feel much better once you can breathe properly on your own. Is there anything we can get for you right now? To make you more comfortable?”
Eddie, he thinks, bring him back in.
Richie tries to blink twice but his eyelids are so heavy, and then, in the blink of an eye, he's asleep again.
+
Richie wakes up with a start. His chest is tight and his throat is on fire and he can’t fucking breathe. He feels like he's drowning. Is he dying? Richie weakly struggles for a minute with the IV in his hand before a soft hand on his arm stops him.
“Richie, calm down.” Comes an angelic voice. He knows that voice. He loves that voice. “You’re panicking, it’s okay, baby.” The angel soothes.
Delicate hands hover around Richie’s face like they want to caress him, but are too afraid. God, what he wouldn’t give to have those hands on his face.
It takes him a second, but Richie is eventually able to come back to himself, focus his eyes on the man standing beside him, focus his ears on the steady beeping and mechanical breathing of the machines surrounding him.
He carefully reaches one trembling hand up to his mouth, onto the uncomfortable tube that was forced down his throat. Eddie gently slaps his hand away from his face.
“Don’t touch it, Richie. Relax, okay? Let me see if I can get your doctor in here.”
A couple of minutes pass before Eddie comes back into the room, smiling widely, while Dr. Hasaan follows a few paces behind him.
“Richard,” greets the doctor when he walks in, “Great news. We’re on pace to get you extubated today. I’m sure that thing must be bothering you, huh? The ventilator’s providing minimal support now, so most of that breathing is all you, kiddo."
Richie gives two shaky thumbs-ups, careful not to jostle the I.V. too much, lest he upset Eddie again.
+
It's got to be the most uncomfortable moment of Richie Tozier’s existence. The process doesn't take more than a minute or two, but there's a lot of choking, gagging, and saliva sucking—and not even in the fun way. Once the tube is out, though, Richie only feels relief. And a little sore.
“It’s all done, Richard, you did great.” The doctor praises, as he discards some tools onto the table beside him. “Hold still now, I’m going to insert an intranasal cannula, just to be safe...”
Richie lets the doctor do doctorly things while he lets his eyes roam around the room. They settle on Eddie, who’s been hovering anxiously on the other side of the bed. He's wearing a too big hoodie and a pair of skinny jeans. His hair is curly and unkempt, so unlike Eddie. His face looks relieved, but his eyes are so tired. So sweet staying here with me, Richie thinks.
“Alright. Why don’t you try and say a few words for me? It might be uncomfortable at first, but the more you work at it the easier it’ll get.” Dr. Hassan states reassuringly.
“Just like...the first time...I gave you... sloppy top...right, Eds?” Richie croaks, then he threw a wink in his boyfriend’s direction.
Eddie’s face twists in a strange combination of horrified amusement. He looks like he wants to laugh—or maybe cry—but instead he just purses his lips together and shakes his head. Richie grins back.
The doctor rolls his eyes and asks if Richie felt up to answering a few procedural questions.
"What's your full name?"
"Richard Tozier."
"What year is it?"
"2019."
"Who's the president of the United States?"
"I know...but don't make me say it."
“Excellent, Mr. Tozier," Dr. Hasaan chuckles, "you’re well on your way to health. Your lung and ribs should heal on their own in a couple of weeks, but there's no reason for us to hold you hostage here any longer. Your short term memory should come back to you gradually. You're set to be discharged no later than tomorrow afternoon. Because of the severity of your concussion, however, I'm going to ask that you have another adult at your home to monitor you for 48 hours."
"No problem, doc... I got my... Eddie Spaghetti to take care of me." Richie smiles as wide as he can without his lips cracking due to lack of hydration.
He doesn't notice the way Eddie's eyes shift guiltily to the floor.
+
Eddie might've been driving too cautiously.
"Eds...I know you're worried...but you might actually...be driving in reverse." Richie complains as another car speeds past them.
Eddie ignores him and grips the wheel tighter. I've hurt you enough already, I can't do that to you again Eddie thinks. What he says is, "Yeah, and if I speed up and hit a pothole and your stupid ribs slip and puncture your stupid lung again, then you'll be mad at me."
Richie laughs, but it's bitten off like it hurt him, and Eddie winces. "My Eds...always...so damn dramatic."
They spend the rest of the car ride in relative silence, save for the quiet humming of the radio, and Richie's occasional labored breathing.
"Oh, fuck." Richie voices miserably when they arrive at his complex.
"What?" Eddie asks, worried. "Are you hurt?"
"I'm okay, Eds." Richie reassures, "I just remembered...that I live on the third floor."
Oh, fuck.
"I'm not carrying you up three flights of stairs because your landlord is too cheap to get the elevator fixed." Eddie says, mostly serious.
"You couldn't...carry me up those stairs...to save both of our lives...Spaghetti head." Richie jokes, "Come on...little man...we've got some...climbing to do."
+
Eddie might not've had asthma when he was younger, but it sure as fuck felt like he did now.
Carrying their bags and about 30% of Richie's body weight feels like a workout, but he feels guilty almost instantaneously when he hears Richie struggling to catch his breath.
"I'm sorry, baby." Eddie says, forgetting himself for a moment. He rubs his hands up and down Richie's back soothingly. "You okay?"
"Fine, Eds. Let's keep...going."
They make their way down the hall to Richie's door, where Eddie reaches under the "did you call first?" welcome mat to retrieve the spare key Richie keeps hidden there.
"Where's yours at...Eds? Need me to...get a new one made?" Richie asks, gesturing to the spare key in his hand, and Eddie blanches.
"No? No, I just left mine at my place. I'm an idiot." He lies, and Richie just looks at him kind of odd.
"That you are...Spaghetti Head."
Once they're inside, Eddie helps Richie settle comfortably onto the couch, before going to Richie's bedroom to drop off his bag.
"Bring me...my heating pad, please, Eds?" Richie calls with some difficulty.
"Yeah, sure, Rich!" Eddie calls back, but when he steps into Richie's bedroom, his heart hits the floor.
Now, Richie isn't the tidiest person alive, so Eddie's used to picking up after him a bit; sometimes folding his laundry, but it's never been like this before. There are empty bottles of alcohol littering his floor, half-empty food containers left open, clothes thrown haphazardly over almost every surface. This, Eddie knows, is what depression looks like for Richie. This is what it looks like when he's given up.
"I did this." He gasps quietly to himself, looking around the room in horror. "I did this."
"Eds?" Comes Richie's worried voice from his position on the couch. "You get lost?"
"Just gimme a minute, Richie!" He snaps, way harsher than he intends. Then much softer, "I'm sorry, babe, please just give me a minute, okay?"
Richie doesn't say anything else, and Eddie pulls himself together long enough to go to the supply closet and retrieve Richie's heating pad.
He hands it to Richie wordlessly, and Richie mutters a quiet "thanks". He looks at Eddie like he's a puzzle to be solved, and Eddie can't take it.
"What do you remember from before?' He asks, avoiding Richie's questioning eyes.
"From when?"
"What's the last thing you remember, Rich? Not... not in the hospital, but before that. What's the last memory you have of--of us together?"
There's a pause, and Eddie can see the gears working in Richie's head.
"Oh, I don't...I can't...um...I don't? The movies?" Richie tries. "We went to see that scary movie you wanted to see. The one...with the clowns." He looks so proud of himself, and Eddie's heart just shatters.
+
Richie's used to his boyfriend being weird; and usually he loves it, but there's something about the way Eddie's been acting since they left the hospital that has his hackles raised.
"Am I...missing something, Eds?" Other than the obvious, he doesn't add, "What's the matter?"
Eddie still looks crestfallen when he answers. "That was over three weeks ago, Rich."
"Yeah?" He asks, and Eddie nods miserably. "Holy fuck. I mean...we knew that there were...holes in my memory. Doc said...things'll come back on their own." He tries to sound reassuring, but Eddie's still frowning hard.
"Yeah, I know but...that's not...it's just that, um, I don't really, um, and—"
"Woah, dude, are you...having a stroke?" Richie interrupts, and Eddie puts his head in his hands and sighs.
"God, shut the fuck up, Richie, this is really hard."
Richie bites his tongue. "What's hard, baby? What's got you...so upset? Eds...whatever it is...it's okay. Talk to me."
"It's us, I mean, you and me, we're um," a pause, "we'renottogetheranymore." He finishes quickly.
That's a silly thing to say, Richie thinks. "What do you mean?"
"I mean," Eddie starts, "that you and I aren't together anymore. We're broken up."
The sharp pain in Richie's chest has nothing to do with his broken ribs.
"I broke up with you?" He asks dejectedly, "Eds, I'm—" but Eddie holds up a hand and cuts him off.
"No, Richie, I broke up with you."
And there it is. Richie feels it like a punch to the solar plexus. Thats why Eddie's been acting so strange, keeping something like this from him.
"I don't...why?" He demands, chest aching to keep up with the heavy pounding of his heart.
"It doesn't matter, I should've never done it, I'm sorry—"
"It fucking matters!" Richie explodes. With great difficulty, he stands up off of the couch—wincing in pain during the process—so that he's looming over Eddie. "It matters." He tries again.
Eddie just stares up at him from his spot on the sofa. He shakes his head 'no', like he's resolved on keeping his mouth shut, and the anger is drained from Richie as quickly as it came.
"Why are you...here, Eddie?" He asks, exhaustedly. Just Eddie this time. Not Eds, not baby, just Eddie.
"Because you're hurt, and I need to make sure you're okay, and I—"
"Let me...guess. You feel...guilty?" Richie laughs mirthlessly. "Get out."
"No, Rich, c'mon, I'm here to help you."
"Just, go, Eddie. I'm going to go...take a very careful shower...and by the time...I get out...I want you...out of here."
"Rich—"
"Out, Eddie."
He walks carefully to the bathroom without waiting for a response.
+
Eddie doesn't leave. Fuck that, he thinks. Instead, he takes on the harrowing task of cleaning Richie's bedroom which he's labeled "The Depression Den" in his head. He starts with the clothes: grabbing piles and piles from the floor and Richie's bed and discarding them into their respective hampers. Once he's done with that, he takes care of the disposable trash; putting everything into bags that'll need to be tossed sooner rather than later. Lastly, he works on the beer cans, and liquor pints that are scattered all around the room. God, Richie must've really been on a bender. Eddie swallows his guilt for the time being and gets to working on separating glass from aluminum to recycle.
The shower's still running by the time Richie's room looks presentable. Eddie carefully, quietly places his ear up to the door. He can hear Richie humming softly and takes that as a sign that he's okay in there.
He makes his way to the kitchen to rummage through Richie's cabinets, trying to find something to cook for them, but Richie's cupboards and refrigerator are bare and depressing looking.
Take out doesn't sound so bad, Eddie thinks.
+
He's just getting off the phone with the Thai place when Richie comes into the living room
"You're still here." Richie croaks. His skin is still pink from his shower, and he's wearing an oversized t-shirt and a pair of Spiderman boxers. He's still a head taller than Eddie, but he looks so small, so young.
"Yeah, Rich, I know you're upset, and I understand its a lot, and I'm s—"
"You're still here...you didn't leave." Richie's voice cracks. "You didn't leave me." He takes a hesitant step towards Eddie, expression vulnerable. And oh, fuck, if Richie starts crying its going to set Eddie off too.
"I promised you I wouldn't." At Richie's confused glance, he elaborates. "When I got the call that you were in the hospital, I was so scared. They wouldn't tell me anything and I-I thought the worst. I thought I'd lost you. But then I went to your room, and you were sleeping. You were cut up and bruised," He eyes the healing bruises across Richie's face, desperately wanting to reach out and touch him "but you were alive. And I thought to myself 'I walked away from the best thing in my life, because I was scared.' Truth is, I didn't know what scared was until I saw you lying there, so still...so pale, machines breathing for you. So that night, I promised myself and you that as long as you'll have me, I'll be here. I won't ever leave you again. As long as I'm welcome in your home, and...and in your life, I'll—"
"Stay."
"What?" Eddie asks, eyes wide.
"Please...even if it's just for tonight...just, stay."
So Eddie does.
+
Richie does a lot of healing over the next couple of weeks. None of it is easy, but that's to be expected. He gets short tempered, and emotional as his memory clears, which the doctor tells Eddie is a "completely normal response to being concussed," but Eddie thinks it's more than that. Richie slowly begins to ease himself back into daily activities like driving, and grocery shopping for himself, relying on Eddie less and less with each passing day.
Eddie tries not to let that worry him.
It's a fair question, and one that needed to be asked, but it still makes Eddie choke on his coffee when Richie asks "So, why did you break up with me?" one day when they're sitting on the couch, watching TV with the volume down low.
"Um, Richie, I-" Eddie starts, then stops.
"Yeah?" Richie raises his eyebrows expectantly, the tiniest hint of a smirk on his lips.
Eddie sighs. He owes Richie an explanation, he owes him the truth. "I was scared." Okay...so...baby steps.
"Of...?" Richie prompts, impatient now.
"You leaving me? I know it's so stupid, now, but at the time I thought you would get sick of me, and you didn't l—" he cuts himself off but its too late.
He doesn't miss the way Richie inhales sharply, and flinches like Eddie just slapped him.
"You thought I didn't love you?" Richie sounds so lost.
"No! I mean, yes, but no! I know that you loved me, remember? I told you that, and I knew it, it's just that, with my anxiety and everything, uh, it's like my head...was playing tricks on my heart and I had to leave, because if you left me I wouldn't be able to take it. And I know that's not an excuse, and I don't mean for it to be. I just, I never meant to hurt you, I swear. If I could take every word back, I would. I never- I'm so sorry."
"You're so fucking stupid." Is all Richie says, then louder, "God, you're so fucking stupid!"
That's fair, Eddie thinks.
Richie puts his hands on Eddie's shoulders, lowering his head until they're eye level. "I have never. Ever." He punctuates each word with a gentle shake to Eddie's shoulders, "Loved anyone the way that I love you. Not even close."
"Richie, I'm so-" Wait. "Love?"
"Yes!" Richie cries, exasperated. "Love, dummy. I love you! I never stopped loving you. Even when I was drowning myself in a bottle," It's Eddie's turn to feel like he just got slapped. "All I could think about was you. You, Eds. You're it for me, I think."
Eddie freezes, feels the tears well in his eyes before he can do anything about it. "You called me Eds." He cries, tearfully.
Richie grins in triumph. "I knew you fucking liked my nicknames!"
+
"God, I missed this." Richie moans in between kisses. He's got Eddie pinned down on his bed, breathless and panting beneath him.
"Richie, please." Eddie whimpers.
"Please what, baby?" He teases. "You want something from me, you ask for it."
Eddie squirms underneath him, dick already hard and leaking. "Please fuck me. Need it, need you." And Richie groans, grinding his hips down hard, eliciting a shaky moan from Eddie.
"Mmm, not yet, baby. Gonna take care of you. I'm gonna worship every inch of you."
Richie takes his time taking Eddie apart, finding all the spots that drive him crazy, and playing with them until Eddie's a writhing mess underneath him.
"Alright, Eds. Face down, ass up. C'mon chop, chop."
Eddie opens his mouth like he's about to retort—probably to tell Richie to stop ruining the mood or something—before he thinks better of it. He does as he's told, stripping down completely naked before laying face down on the mattress.
Richie hums in approval, kisses his way down Eddie's shoulders, along his spine, feels the tremors that are coursing through him.
"Please, Richie, I need more" Eddie whines, rocking his hips back.
"I know what you need, Eds. Let me give it to you, okay? Gonna make you come so hard. On my tongue and fingers, then on my dick, okay? You just gotta take it." He says it casually, like he's discussing the weather, and not taking Eddie apart piece by piece.
Eddie just whines again, and Richie smirks before he flattens his tongue, licking over Eddie in broad strokes before pressing his tongue inside. Eddie nearly shouts, hole fluttering around Richie's tongue.
There's nothing particularly romantic about the way Richie eats him out. It's wet, and sloppy, and Richie's got spit dripping down his chin as he licks into Eddie until Eddie's trembling at the intensity of it.
When Eddie's whines start getting high and needy, Richie takes pity on him, adding a finger in alongside his tongue, and Eddie groans appreciatively, fucking himself back onto Richie until he adds another.
When Richie crooks his fingers purposefully, searching out Eddie’s prostate, Eddie whimpers pitifully and tries to shift away. “Richie, please…” he begs, but Richie just pulls his mouth away and shushes him, keeping his fingers deep inside.
Richie knows Eddie simultaneously loves and hates getting his prostate fucked. Hates how vulnerable it makes him feel, how it leaves him shaking and non-verbal, even after he's come. Loves it for the exact same reasons.
“Relax, baby,” Richie soothes, placing a comforting hand on Eddie’s hip. "I got you."
Eddie forces himself to relax, and soon enough, he’s whining and sobbing, fingers twisting the sheets, begging Richie for more.
"Good boy." Richie praises. He’s careful when he does this, not exactly gentle, but he doesn’t want to go too fast or hard and overwhelm Eddie, so he keeps his strokes long and purposeful, fingers brushing expertly over Eddie’s prostate. Eddie's hips keep shifting, like he’s not sure if he wants to get away from the sensation or get more of it, so Richie tightens his hand on Eddie's hip, effectively stilling him.
He keeps up his methodical torture for minutes, or hours, or days, before Eddie's granted any reprieve. Even if it weren’t for the almost hysterical whines Eddie’s emitting, the way that he’s clenching around Richie’s fingers, shaking like a leaf, would be enough to alert Richie that he’s close. He keeps Eddie hanging there on the verge of orgasm for a long time, drawing it out of him slowly, so slowly, with precise fingers pressing rhythmically against Eddie’s prostate. “Touch yourself, baby, you’re doing so good, make yourself come.” Richie urges, using his free hand to massage Eddie’s perineum when Eddie brings a shaking hand to his own leaking dick. It’s over pretty quickly after that.
Eddie’s uncharacteristically quiet when he comes, and Richie would be worried if not for the way Eddie’s muscles had locked up so tight before he started trembling something fierce.
Eddie had stayed like that for a few long moments, could do nothing but shake and gasp as his orgasm worked through him in a way that looked almost painful.
When it's over, Eddie drops like a stone onto the mattress, still trembling. Richie's quick to gather him in his arms, rearranging them as best he could so that Richie was against the headboard and Eddie’s head was resting on his chest. That's when he notices the tears tracks running down Eddie's cheeks as the man in question struggles to catch his breath. He runs soothing fingers through Eddie’s hair, waits for him to come back to himself.
"Oh my God," Eddie whispers, moments later, once his soul is back in his body.
"Okay, baby?" Richie asks, genuinely concerned, as he wipes at the tears staining his boyfriend's face.
"More than," Eddie gasps, "It's just a lot."
"Hmmm." Richie hums in agreement. He gives Eddie a couple more minutes to recover before he rearranges them again. This time, with Eddie on his back, legs spread wide around Richie's hips. "I'm not done with you yet."
Eddie looks up at him, eyes wide, and Richie grins. "Told you I was gonna make you come on my dick tonight. You want that, baby?"
Eddie nods enthusiastically, then gasps in shock when he feels Richie's open palm connect with his cheek.
"Use your words, Eddie. You want my dick, then beg me for it."
"Please, Richie, oh my God, please I want your dick, please give it to me, I need it." Eddie's shameless now, past the point of caring what comes out of his mouth.
"That's good, baby. I'll give it to you." Richie says, reaching into his nightstand for the box of condoms they never use anymore.
"Rich...what? Why?" Eddie asks, dubiously eyeing the box in his hand.
"Eds..I..if there was any-" But Eddie cuts him off, head clearer than it's been since they started.
"There was no one else, Rich, I swear, I didn't. You're it for me, too."
"Yeah?" Richie asks, tossing the box somewhere in the corner of his room, smiling down at Eddie.
"Yeah, stupid." Eddie promises, and Richie just has to kiss the grin off his lips.
-
Richie takes his time pushing in, making sure Eddie feels every inch of him until he bottoms out, hips flush against Eddie.
"Gonna make sure you feel how deep my love goes, baby. Never gonna have to worry again." Richie promises.
"Oh, my God." Eddie whimpers, eyes rolling back as Richie starts to fuck into him slowly.
It's so good, too good, and it's not long before Eddie's hard again. Richie takes notice and doubles his efforts, going from thrusting into Eddie to grinding their hips together, dick a constant pressure against Eddie's prostate. It's too much, too fast, and Eddie damn nears screams.
"Feel good, baby?"
Eddie doesn't respond. Just keeps making these little "ah, ah, ah" sounds like he's about to sneeze. "Oh, fuck, Richie, how are you doing this to me?"
He's crying for real now, taking big, sobbing breaths as his hands frantically grip the pillows, the bedsheets, the headboard, his own hair, anything he can to ground himself against the pleasure that's threatening to overwhelm him completely.
"Don't do that, baby, you'll rip your hair out." Richie chides, dropping to his elbows so that he can detangle Eddie's hands from his hair, and twine their fingers together.
He never once breaks stride, going back to fucking into Eddie deep and slow, each thrust bringing Eddie closer and closer to that point of no return.
And surely Eddie's going to explode. Surely, the human body isn't meant to withstand this kind of pleasure.
"You're so fucking good, Eds." Richie's pace is starting to get falter, tell-tale sign that he's close. "Gonna come for me again?"
Eddie nods senselessly, beyond words. He's pretty sure he's drooling.
"Then do it, Eds. C'mon." And Eddie's right there, so close to the edge, back arching completely off the bed as Richie takes him higher and higher and—
"That's it, baby, you're right there, God, I love you so much, Eddie."
"Say it again." Eddie gasps, fresh tears spilling over.
"I love you." Richie repeats.
"Again."
"I love you."
"Again, again, again!" Eddie shouts as he starts to come, untouched, across his and Richie's bellies.
"I love you, I love you so much, baby." Richie groans, and tumbles over the edge right alongside of him.
+
Eddie's nervous as Richie drives them to the restaurant; some overpriced Italian place that Mike wants them to meet at. It's not like he and Richie were avoiding the Losers; they still talked on the phone a couple of times a week, but in the light of recent events they had, admittedly, been spending a lot more time with each other. It's been the best and happiest weeks of Eddie's life, and that makes his decision ten times easier.
Months ago, Bill told Eddie to take some time to think about what he wanted.
He picked out a ring that very same day.
What he wants is Richie, always and forever. He's known that for most of his life.
He just hopes that Richie feels the same way.
+
The ring is heavy in Richie's back pocket as he and Eddie walk into the restaurant that Mike picked out. The rest of the Losers are already there, talking animatedly amongst each other. The conversation stops when they get to the table.
"Well I'll be damned." Mike says, like he didn't expect them to actually show up, he's grinning though, and Richie smiles back.
"Richie Tozier, back from the dead!" Bev exclaims, jumping out of her seat to hug him. He squeezes her tight, lifting her off her feet as he twirls her around. She laughs brightly, and it hits Richie like a brick to the face how much he loves this group of people. How, since they were kids, their little group of outcasts has been his one constant. Something he could always run to.
Bill and Stan smile at him knowingly, and he winks back.
Richie's always had a hard time holding on to the good things in his life, but as he looks around the table at all of his friends, at the man he hopes says yes tonight, Richie finds himself smiling at the realization that he's there's no way he could ever let this go.

VIXX “Scentist” analysis based on “Perfume”, by P. Suskind PART I - The MV (2/2)
“Scentist” is definitely one of my favorite songs/ music videos/ concepts in kpop so last year, when I got to know it was based on a book, I went after and read it. Since then I’ve been wanting to share an analysis focused on more direct references to Suskind’s story.
* This is the continuation of a two part analysis of Vixx’s “Scentist” MV; you can find the first part here. *
THIRD PART The third part is about the period Grenouille spends in Grasse – pretty much a capital of the aroma’s industry. Going over to the residential area, his attention was for some reason caught by one of the houses. He realizes it was a scent extremely similar to the one he smelled that night in Paris, but not the same. It was even better this time. The girl was a child and he knew that in 2 years she would have completely matured. This time he wished to properly extract and take this scent for himself. He had to expand his knowledge and technique, as he waited for the blossoming.
[Image 26 - 1:37 min] I think by now we can work with the concept of Grenouille’s more sophisticated way of dealing with smell and creating fragrances inside himself. The way I see it, here we can divide the scene in some parts: first, on the right, Hongbin and Hyuk would be in charge of the experimenting; at the center, where N, Ravi and Ken stand, would be the storage for the smells (also previously described as a “beverage cellar”) and on the left side, Leo would be responsible for the “special” creations (the harmonization).
Grenouille is hired at an atelier. He is taught a very efficient process of extraction. He gained more and more experience, and stayed all day long in the laboratory making experiments. He creates more “humane perfumes” for different occasions. Once again, he tries capturing the objects aromas (rock, metal, glass, wood…) and soon begins experimenting with living beings.
[Image 27 - 0:57 sec] [Image 28 - 1:52 min] [Image 29 - 0:54 sec] [Image 30 - 1:56] Grenouille catches some animals to test if he can extract their odors. Here N and Hongbin illustrate those experiments – the book doesn’t specify any lizard or snake, though.
After a year had passed, one night he is taken by the fear of losing the scent; despite some hesitation, he plans to make a base of other aromas to help in conserving hers. This is when the murders start taking place. Every week the citizens would find a girl; all of them followed a similar pattern. Even when taking measures he couldn’t be stopped.
Laure Richis was the girl whose scent Grenouille wants. Even after her father’s attempt of taking her away secretly, he follows their trace. He manages to get inside her room, to kill her and extract the scent.
“He didn’t even once look at the girl’s face; her material existence wasn’t important to him, it was only the Laure in form of scent that existed, as a perfect smell.”
[Image 31 - 0:35 sec] [Image 32 - 2:09 min] The bags containing roses actually represent each one of the girls Grenouille kills when he is in Grasse. Red roses are associated to beauty and perfection and, most popularly, to profound love. In the book, he specifically says he wants to capture the special fragrances from people, those that inspired love.
[Image 33 - 2:49 min] [Image 34 - 3:03 min] In total, he makes 25 victims, considering the last one, Laure, the special scent he had as a goal. As I pointed out in yellow, there are around 20 bags hanging in the MV.
After some investigation the police gets to Grenouille. He is arrested and sentenced to death. He arrived in the police carriage at the square; it was the first time someone to be executed came in such class. He was finely dressed and looked like a free man. By this moment he had already applied the perfume. Suddenly, all those people believed he wasn’t guilty and loved him. They all fell on their knees. An utter state of hysteria took place; everywhere the citizens where filled with admiration and intense desire.
[Image 35 - 2:38 min] [Image 36 - 2:42 min] I associate this other scene involving a car with Grenouille arrival to the execution venue. Grenouille uses of the effect of the perfume to get taken there by carriage. Hongbin's angle to the camera in the first scene also conveys the idea of power over the viewer. In the book he stands by the door for several minutes and also wears a long blue coat.
[Image 37 - 2:11 min] [Image 38 - 2:13 min] This could be a representation of the perfume taking over the crowd like a gas bomb in the same scenario. However Grenouille is immune to it, as Ravi shows by wearing the protection mask.
At first, he thought he had achieved his goal, but he couldn’t feel any joy from that. Again he was disgusted by those people. He understood that love wouldn’t make him blissful. However, the more he hated them, the more they loved him, as they saw him through his divine aromatic mask. Again the mist filled him, like his dream in the cave; but this time the real world was the dream, and there was no place where to escape.
[Image 39 - 1:17 min] I believe this represents the boy’s realization at the square. Now the mist originates from the car that, according to the previous association, is connected to the place where Greouille feels suffocated by it for the second time.
After passing out and being aided by the girl’s father himself, he goes away.
* * * FOURTH PART Grenouille walked at night again. Feeling the bottle in his pocket, he reflects on how he had power enough to dominate the world if he wanted. But he didn’t know who he was if he couldn’t smell himself; everything else was insignificant. In the end, he was the only one able to be fascinated and not controlled by the perfume. He gets to Paris in a day as hot as the day of his birth. At night, near by a fire where some people gathered, he sprays all of his body with the rest of the liquid.
* * * Other commentaries: The MV was a really interesting interpretation of the story. Definitively, it fit Vixx’s dark concepts perfectly, which I’m not sure if it’s that clear by watching it out of context.
I like how throughout the video they work with blue and red, which mixed result in purple – the color Grenouille’s castle is described as. I also thought it was interesting how they introduced music to the story (mainly related to those scenes of Leo by the piano); I feel like the book doesn’t do any kind of comparision to other senses, specially because the important point is exactly the main character’s special way of interacting with the world.
There were also some things that made me confused and I decided to keep them out of the list, such as:
[Image 40 - 0:39 sec] - That tool the boys look through. Although I used a similar scene before, I was really curious to know the real meaning of this.
[Image 41 - 2:02 min]- The boy feeling divided (?). I considered this would be associated to Grenouille’s feelings – hate and the wish to be loved at the same time.
[Image 42 and 43 - 2:55 min] - The gun. I thought that was a representation of the character’s indifference to the fact that he had to kill his victims; the book literally says that didn’t matter to him. The first one would be the younger Grenouille experiencing that for the first time as a way of getting to the scent, and then the older version of himself actively killing the girls to make the perfume.
Concluding… Again, this is a great concept and a great book. Make sure to support Vixx and the author’s work the way you can.
I plan on continuing with this and analyze the other promotions related to “EAU de VIXX”, so please wait for it!

So, no spoiler review of IT chapter 2: I liked it, it was well put together and i feel like it built on and expanded the first movie very well
some of my other thoughts chock full of spoilers are below the cut
– the opening scene with adrien mellon is easily the most brutal one i dig my nails into my skin when i get nervous and i was bleeding pretty bad by the end of those first 10 mins. its probably the worst and most visceral scare of the whole movie, everything after that’s manageable. I’m a little annoyed they included that one like...of all the parts of the book to stay faithful to thats the one you pick??? I was so annoyed when they announced they were makin that
– where was the scene from the trailer when pennydumbass jumped out of that hole that was in the wall like 10 feet up? Did I miss that or something i feel like it was absent
– I really loved the adult losers they were all so good. I really had no trouble beliving they were the grown versions of the kids from chapter 1
– however i feel they could have sassed back at pennywise more
– I appreciated that this one was darker more often than not but that there were still a couple moments of levity. Watching everyone run around screaming while Mike is smashing the table in the chinese restaurant after the scene with the blood (or perhaps that was just miscellaneous sewer ooze?) and screaming infant bugs was really funny to me. I’m also glad this movie didnt go the miniseries route and just put some live ass cockroaches on the table i hated that. The whole scene was very loud though. I feel like I’m too old but every scary scene i’m always just thinking “oh boy here comes some more noise...good :/”
– Mike was easily my favorite character this time around im glad he got more screentime because gotdamn was he robbed last time
– I love!! new kids content!!! I loved those kids so much so i was really glad that they came back
– goddamn the transitions between some of these scenes was fucking stunning i like said very loudly without realizing “Oh wow that transition” somebody nearby laughed at me
– I for no reason really want to draw a pomeranian with pennywise markings now
– How did nobody else ever figure out you can just beat It by pointing and laughing and calling it a sloppy bitch. it really took the people of derry five million years to workshop that one huh?
– I was so worried theyd try and force Bill and Bev together and they did not
– If you thought I was paying attention to anything other than that Michael J Fox poster in the background of the scenes in the fort. You would be INCORRECT I really need to finish that IT/BttF crossover huh?
– so???? one of the last things Richie does before leaving town is go to the lover's bridge and re-make the mark he made as a kid that said E + R (while Stan is saying “be proud of who you are” in a vo) are they saying hes gay??? also some kids call him gay and he doesnt like..adamantly deny it like he does other stuff, he just runs off. so??? kinda got gay vibes. it could just be me reading into it as a gay buuuuuuut idk Also Bill and Mike say “I love you” to each other and theyre like the only ones in either movie that even utter the words i love you that i recall, that and Bill wasn’t wearing a ring at the end???? Honestly was anyone else kinda feeling those 2 the whole movie? i was. is there any ship content for that? i feel like theres untapped potential there. gonna be bummed if theres nothing on AO3 tbh
– I can’t tell if I’m immune to horror or if this movie actually wasnt scary. It feels like Penboy only has one scare tactic and thats shake ur head real quick-like. And i do that when i mess up sentences to get my thoughts back on track u aint special bitch
– while nothing other than adrien mellon’s death really scared me I do think the scare scenes were a lot better this time around. better executed and all that. more thought was put into em
– I noticed a lot of really wonky edits esp in the antique shop scene and it kinda makes me wonder if they didnt get too many takes because stephen king didnt want to be there or what but like...every time they cut from Bill to that wide of stephen at the counter his coffee cup is moved and the book is at a different angle did y’all really only do like 1 fucking take of this shit???? I’d get a gotdamn F if I tried pulling something like that. I would get fuckin fired. And this movie with a billion dollar budget just let that slip on by???? I thought that this was gonna be a scene where oh no something spooky happens and the inconsistancies were supposed to be there to clue u in but no. its just bad editing.
– there was a lot of continuity errors in who was standing where or holding items in the deadlights pit where they did the ritual of chud. ignoring for a second that the losers pulled half their damn tokens out of nowhere when only a couple even had pockets on their person, that lampshade/demon container thing just kinda...appeared. Mike was not carrying that the whole time they were going through Neibolt and down. he also pulls a bag off his shoulder one second when hed never had one previously and then next shot theres no bag. my friend suggested that maybe this was like...to disorient you as the viewer and i think it was just like...somebody who fucked up real bad. It made it hard to track where anyone was in that space. but maybe im going to be the only person who notices that shit since im an editor so i have to always be looking for that, anyways this is why a script sup is so important
– also as a film student who once (and only once, i aint ever doing that shit again) was producer for a short film I was literally screaming at the scene on the movie set. Like???? thats not how movies work!!!!!!!!!!!!!! theyre filming the ending that night!??!?!?! The ending they are still waiting for Bill to write?!??!?!? How did you build a set??? How did you cast for that??? If ur at into a physical location not in the studio how did u get location permits for that day????? WHO STARTS PRODUCTION OF A MOVIE BEFORE ITS WRITTEN WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?!?!?
– When Bill punches Richie in that recap of their chapter 1 fight there was a random red filter on the shot for 2 seconds who allowed that?? there was also this godawful blue food dye ass filter over one shot of the losers walking down the street. that shot was clearly filmed midday idk who they thought they were foolin with that. Just wait until night man. Again, i would be killed if i did that shit in a student film. but the brothers warn just let this happen????? WHY

“Staaaaaaaan,” Richie groaned, sitting on the couch, wrapped in multiple blankets. Richie found a new movie at the Redbox down the street and wanted his curly headed boyfriend to join him. “What, Richie?” Stan yelled from upstairs, sighing in annoyance. Stan was currently rummaging through his closet, trying to find an appropriate outfit for the night. Loud footsteps were heard making their way into Stan’s room. “Come watch a movi- what are you getting dressed for?” Richie asked, cutting himself off mid-sentence. “I’m going out to dinner with Bill and then we’re going to go watch the new Star Wars movie in a little bit,” Stan said, pulling off his shirt and slipping on another one. Richie’s face dropped in disappointment. Why hadn’t he been invited to go out with them? “Hmm, well, thanks sooooo much for the invitation. No, really, I’m SO HAPPY my own boyfriend doesn’t want to hang out with me on a Friday night,” Richie exclaimed sarcastically, flopping down onto Stan’s bed. Stan smirked and fixed the collar of his shirt. “If I didn’t know any better I’d say you’re jealous.” Richie sat up, unamused. “Oh no, of course not. Why would I ever be jealous of Bill Denbrough? With his stupid smile, his stupid soft, brown hair, and his stupid voice of pure angelic goodness.” Stan howled with laughter as he walked downstairs to grab his keys and put on a coat. Richie followed in suit. “Don’t worry, Richie. You have nothing to worry about….Or do you?” Stan said, touching his chin with his index finger, pretending to think. “Don’t fucking start that shit, Uris. Can’t you just stay at home and watch this new movie with me? I already made popcorn and everything,” Richie pouted, giving Stan the puppy-dog eyes. It was true, Richie had set up popcorn, candy, and drinks for the two to have a nice movie night. “Sorry Rich, guess you’ll just have to invite one of the losers over instead,” Stan said, making his way to the door. “WAIT, STAN, DON’T G-“ Richie was cut off by the sound of the door shutting. “That fucking bitch.”
Richie and Eddie were currently watching what felt like the 87th movie of the night. Richie had barely been paying attention to any of the movies they had watched; all he could think about was how to get back at Stan for leaving him tonight. There was always some excuse when it came to Stan hanging out with him. “I’m going birdwatching,” “I have homework,” “My parents hate you,” and blah blah blah. Stan was always too busy for him. “Ya know what, Eds? I’m gonna get revenge. If I can’t have Stan’s attention, nobody and nothing else can either,” Richie said, getting up from the couch. “First of all, if you call me that again you won’t have to worry about Stan not paying attention to you at all. Second, I don’t think that’s a good idea Rich, you know Stan hates being messed with,” Eddie replied, getting up from the couch as well. “Of course I know it’s a bad idea,” Richie said, matter-of-factly. “And you’re still gonna do it, aren’t you?” Eddie sighed. “Absolutely!”
“Richie, hurry the fuck up. It’s cold as shit and I didn’t bring a jacket,” Eddie whisper-yelled from the ground. “And whose fucking fault is that? Huh, dipshit?” Richie yelled back from above. “Well fucking excuse me for misunderstanding that your movie invitation was really just an invitation to play a fucked up version of Robin-hood all damn night,” Eddie shouted. It was 10:34PM. Richie had coerced Eddie into helping him get revenge on Stan by taking everything that could possibly distract him and hiding them all around town, including Stan’s bird-book. Richie laughed as he climbed back down from the tree. “Stop complaining, it’s not even that cold.” “SAYS YOU! YOU HAVE A JACKET YOU FUCKING PRICK! MEANWHILE, MY TOES ARE TURNING 75 SHADES OF PURPLE,” Eddie exclaimed, flailing his arms around. “75 shades of purple huh? That’d make for a pretty kinky version of ‘Fifty Shades of Gray’ wouldn’t it?” Richie said, smirking as he led the two out of the woods. “Fuck you, douchebag. Now what? Stan goes home and sees all his shit missing, then you have to go around town and get it back so he doesn’t flip a table?” Eddie asked, rubbing his hands up and down his arms for warmth. “I’m not a monster, Eddie. I’m gonna make this fun,” Richie said, pulling out his phone and smirking.
Stan was just pulling up at his house when he got a text from Richie. “I’m staying at Eddie’s tonight.” Stan rolled his eyes and put his phone down. Richie could be so dramatic sometimes. Stan hopped out of the car and went inside. Nothing looked too bad besides the mess of popcorn and candy left in the living room. He made his way upstairs and walked into his room, only to find that almost every important thing of his had been taken out. “What the fuck?” Stan said, walking around, looking for some sort of evidence. The house couldn’t have been broken into, could it? Stan walked to his bed and saw multiple pieces of paper tucked under his pillow. Stan, Stan my man, Stanarooni, read closely. Everything that could possibly distract you from spending time with me has been taken and hidden somewhere throughout town. The list of missing items are: - Your weird binoculars - Your damn bird book - Your fucking laptop - Your stupid ass backpack - Your mom and your dad Just kidding about the last one, even though I fucking wish…. Anyways…. Solve the riddles on the next couple of pages if you want your fuckin shit back, and maybe stop goddamn ignoring me all the fuckin time and give me some love and attention once in a while, yeah? GOOD LUCK, BABY! — Richie :) “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” Stan said, dropping the pages on his bed. Stan dialed Richie, but he didn’t pick up. He called and called at least 12 times, but not once did Richie answer. Stan looked over at the time and it read 10:52PM. Is he really about to entertain Richie and this entire situation, and have Richie to hold this against him for the rest of his life just to get his bird book back? Yes. Yes he is.
It was now almost 2AM, and Stan was about to fucking LOSE IT. He had found every single fucking thing on the list except his goddamn bird book, and he just KNEW Richie had done this on purpose. “I swear to fucking Jesus Christ himself if something happened to my book I’m gonna murder Richie with my bare hands,” he mumbled to himself, stumbling around town like he was lost. On the other hand, Stan had started to realize that maybe he wasn’t paying Richie much attention. He kind of felt bad, but at the same time he’s walking around at 2AM because his dumbass boyfriend hid his shit. “I’ve read this dumb fucking riddle 600 times and still have no idea where the fuck my book- wait a minute. In the tree. This motherfucker hid my book in a motherfucking tree,” Stan said, coming to a complete stop on the sidewalk.
It was the next morning and somehow Richie had once again convinced Eddie to help him out. He wanted Eddie to come to his house with him in hopes that Stan wouldn’t yell as much if Eddie were there, and after offering 5 of his best comic books, a slushee from the arcade, and $12, Eddie had agreed. “Stan’s car is here but he isn’t,” Eddie pointed out, looking around the empty house in confusion. “Fuck, dude, do you think something happened to him? Holy shit. Holy fucking shit I killed my boyfriend,” Richie panicked, pacing back and forth in the living room. “EDDIE, WHAT AM I GONNA DO? WHO ELSE IS GONNA PUT UP WITH ME? WHO ELSE IS GONNA WIPE THE CEREAL CRUMBS FROM THE CORNER OF MY MOUTH IN THE MORNINGS? WHO ELSE IS GONNA ROLL THEIR EYES AT ME EVERY TIME I FALL DOWN THE STEPS? WHAT DO I DO, EDDIE, NOBODY IS GONNA BE HERE TO LOVE ME,” Richie yelled, putting his hands on both of Eddie’s shoulders and shaking him back and forth. “RICHIE CALM THE FUCK DOWN, IM SURE HE’S FINE.” “NO, I HAVE TO CALL HIM NOW!”
Last night after climbing 7 different trees and finally finding his bird book, Stan was completely exhausted and decided to rest for a few minutes on the branch he was sitting on before walking back home, but ended up falling asleep. Ring, ring, ring The noise of Stan’s cellphone ringing made him slowly wake up, only to realize he was a good 25 feet from the ground. Ignoring his phone, he decided it was time to go home and get some actual sleep in his bed. He was surprised he didn’t fall from the tree last night. Flashbacks from the previous night started to flood Stan’s memory, and he suddenly remembered why he was in a tree in the first place. Richie. “I can’t fucking believe that shit actually happened and I wasn’t just dreaming,” Stan ranted to himself, packing up his things in his backpack, which he had found hidden behind a dumpster outside of the arcade last night. In Stan’s haste to get home, while trying to stuff his bird book into his bag, it slipped from his grip. He attempted to reach out and grab it before it fell, but reached a bit too far and was sent soaring down from the tree along with his book and his bag. “AGH- AH- AGGH- FUCK,” Stan yelled, in-between hitting every fucking branch on the way down. Stan landed on the last branch before he hit the ground, and had thought it saved him from plummeting to the ground, only for the branch to collapse under the sudden pressure and send him crashing onto the dirt.
“Eddie, I’ve called him 27 times. 27 TIMES AND NOT ONCE HAS HE RESPONDED,” Richie shouted. “Maybe he’s just pissed off, I’d ignore you too if I were him considering you hid his things and made him find them all because he doesn’t have his head shoved up your ass,” Eddie replied, nonchalantly. “Oooooh, I see. You think you’ve got it all figured out, huh, Eds? I think you’re forgetting the fact that you’re just as guilty for helping me, so if I go down, you go down too you little shit,” Richie says, throwing a glare at Eddie, who now met the taller boy’s glare. The two were snapped out of their glaring session when they heard the front door open. In walked a very mad looking Stanley Uris, covered in dirt and cuts from the branches. Richie looked at his boyfriend with wide eyes, mainly out of fear for his life since he was at the butt-end of a murderous glare coming from Stan. Richie laughed nervously. “H-hey baby, how are you? You know, all that blood looks good on you. It brings out your eyes.” Stan walked slowly towards Richie, never once looking away from the boy. Richie started to back up in hopes of running away, only to be pushed against the wall behind him. Eddie took this as an opportunity to hightail it out of the house and escape. “Do you know what I had to go through to get this shit back? I FELL FROM A 25 FOOT TALL TREE, RICHIE. NOT 23, NOT 24, BUT 25 FOOT TALL.” “Ya know, I should be really scared right now considering the fact that you’re yelling at me, but something about the way you just pushed me against a wall is turning me on,” Richie said, smirking at his very pissed and very attractive boyfriend. Stan pushes himself off of Richie and walks upstairs. “Don’t even think about talking to me until tonight because I really can’t deal with you right now, especially not when you’re making sexual advances on me while I’m trying to be mad,” he says, walking into his room and slamming the door. “Sorry, Stanarooni, you’re just so irresistible.”

Eddie Kaspbrak and why he deserved better
Again, it felt pretty standard and easy, story-wise, but still sympathetic, and I absolutely get why they did it like this. It would take so much more time to get into it like the book does. And fingers crossed they might still get more into with Chapter 2. But it’s those details the book brings out that I really started latching onto. First off, you have his mother, Sonia Kaspbrak. Her husband died of cancer when Eddie was just a baby, and it seems right to say it traumatized her. She became terrified for her son – or, rather, for herself and of losing her son. She pulled an Everything, Everything and gaslighted him into thinking he was sick and frail. The world is a dangerous, disgusting place and it’s all working against him. She was the only thing that could keep him safe and he needed her to survive. Where some people can be unknowingly manipulative or forcing their own paranoia on to others without realizing the extent of what they’re doing, that can hardly be argued here. She knows what she’s doing. In the latter part of the book, when Eddie hears Sonia threaten his friends out of the hospital’s waiting room and refuse to let them see him, Eddie does something that legitimately terrifies her – he fights back. He tells her she can’t keep him away from his friends, tells her not to make him choose between them or her because she will not like the answer. So Sonia starts to cry. More than that, she starts wailing. And the entire time we can see her consoling herself in her head, telling herself this is what always works. It always breaks Eddie when she starts crying, because then he starts crying and apologizing and everything will go back to normal. But it doesn’t work; he doesn’t budge. And she’s in genuine shock. Her one foolproof method for breaking her son and bringing him running back to her, and he’s not moving. She’s realizing for the first time that she's not his only anchor anymore. His friends had come right in under her nose and taken him away from her. Something I feel the 1990s version missed in having him still living with his mother by ’84. It’s an incredibly lazy and simple way of showing his regression after The Losers Club breaks apart. It’s fatefully mocking the way he marries Myra, a woman he himself has stated multiple times is just a younger version of his mother. Sonia is dead by the time Pennywise reemerges, but she’s also still very much there. Having Myra in the picture further reinforces how Eddie is going to be haunted by his mother for as long as he lives. No matter where he goes, she’s become such an intrinsic part of his sense of self, he doesn’t know how to exist apart from her. This is something I wish more people would explore in fanfics. There are so many AUs where the Losers Club never breaks apart or forgets each other, and I wish they’d delve further into those alterations between the two universes. When Eddie loses the only other thing that’s holding him together, he becomes the man who just goes stumbled right back to his mother, even if it’s her made manifest in another woman. What would happen if he never lost that other anchor? If he kept his friends and his new sense of self, what would he be in comparison? Who would he become? I’d noticed Eddie was the one who usually found himself inwardly gushing about his friends. He goes on for whole paragraphs about how great Bill is how much he loves him. He loves all of them. And he’s the only one I really remember being singled out in the narrative for this. These brief tangents where he takes a second to fully appreciate them and how lucky he is to have them as friends. I’ve always imagined him thinking about this when he’s dying. His life flashing before his eyes as a series of stills and emotions, everything he’s forgotten finally put into stark perspective against everything that came after, and I can’t help but think he wondered, if only for a second, what his life would’ve been if he’d never forgotten. If that medicine cabinet still would’ve been as full as it was. If he’d still be using an inhaler. This brings me to another of my favorite aspects of the book: Eddie’s talk with Mr. Keene. One of the most poignant moments of the book for me was when they first ran into Ben in The Barrens and Bill had to fucking jet to the pharmacy to get a refill for Eddie’s inhaler. (Can I just take a second to talk about Bill here and the image of him, fucking terrified as he’s watching Eddie have an attack, remembering Georgie and all the feelings triggered there that come flooding back, thinking he’s about to lose someone else and tearing down the street on Silver like the world’s about to end. Holy FUCK.) When Bill’s biking away, Mr. Keene is watching him go, and we get this bit of inner dialogue where Mr. Keene admits that Eddie’s inhaler is filled with nothing but water and a compound that gives it a slightly medicinal taste. It’s the first time you’re blatantly told there’s nothing wrong with Eddie. It’s a small moment in an otherwise big scene where a lot has happened. It’s quiet and subtle and quickly moved away from, and something about that made me so goddamn sad. I think it was the potential for this to be the only time this truth would ever be thrown out into the universe. This was still relatively early in the book, and you could see Eddie in that moment going his entire life never knowing, and the truth of it is just there and gone as the story continues forward. When Mr. Keene finally pulls him aside later on and lays the truth out, Eddie doesn’t believe him. He doesn’t understand why an adult would be lying to him about this. That’s the detail that finally wins him over – why would Mr. Keene be lying about this? But then why would his mother? What could she possibly have to gain from Eddie constantly thinking he’s a breath away from catching the plague? And how could he be having asthma attacks if he didn’t have asthma? He doesn’t believe it; he refuses to believe it. The basis for everything he’s ever known for believed about himself is starting to shake and crack apart, but he doesn’t have anywhere else to stand. He has no other frame of reference for himself as he exists in the world. So he runs. He leaves Mr. Keene’s office and the pharmacy, his world possibly more shaken than it had been from the introduction of an extraterrestrial demon. It’s already been established multiple times that Eddie has a hard time confronting truths and heavy subjects, like when they were all together in the Barrens and he noticed that Bill looked like he had something important to say and was trying to prepare himself for saying it. A sense of overwhelming dread comes over Eddie and all you see is his internal begging for someone to stop this. Someone stop him from talking. I remember him sending out a silent plea to Richie to make some stupid joke or start one of his voices. Anything to keep Bill from saying what he was about to say. And if I remember correctly, I think he does it again when they meet up with each other again in ’84. His reflexive reaction to these kinds of things is stubborn aversion. It takes time for the truth of it to finally sink into him, and it’s that moment in the hospital, when his mother is crying and pleadingly calling for him over and over, that he sees her for what she is and what she’s made him become. Eddie still loves his mother, he finally lets himself fall apart for what he just did to her when she leaves, but she’ll never again be what she was to him. Not in theory, at least. But none of it makes a damn bit of difference in the end. The damage is done. Yeah, he knows the truth of it. His world has been shaken and shifted – and then it settled. And everything was back to as it had been. The truth didn’t erase his compulsive reliance on his inhaler. It didn’t get rid of the reflexive crawling sensation that overcame him when confronted with dirt and disease. It didn’t erase his deeply ingrained phobias. He could just look at them a little differently now. Eddie’s whole story arch is so fucking tragic, it physically hurts me. Two out of the three times I cried while reading the book were over him. And then again just now while remembering the fact that he’s the ONE character the narrative ever explicitly states is willing to die for his friends, and then HE GOES AN DFUKING DIES FOR HIS KFUKCING FRIEND S I HAET HIM A ND I HATE THIS BOOK I was listening to the audiobook while closing at work when he got his fucking arm torn off, and I guess it didn’t really register in my head since I was doing other stuff because all I fucking knew was he went and DIED and I dropped a whipcream cannister. I had to go stand in the back for a few minutes, I was so goddamn upset. I almost didn’t finish the book lmao because like what’s even the point now?? I knew the fucking orgy scene was coming up soon, and I’d been dreading that the entire book. I ended up finishing it out like two days later, pissed as hell that one of the last things we get to experience Eddie doing while alive is this gross, overly detailed, and much too long sex scene between a bunch of kids. I know they loved each other. I KNOW. I knew it before all that happened, and making it happen didn’t change the dynamic of the group in the least. As far as I’m concerned, it didn’t happen. God, now I’m just drained. Long story short, Eddie Kaspbrak deserved so much more. He’s a whirling torrent of conflicting emotions all bundled up into a deceptively small spitfire of a person. Despite what she represented to him, he loved Myra. He even loved his mother up until the very end. He felt things so deeply and loved so goddamn much that he died for it. So, really, if he had to die, I guess this was the best way to do it. That doesn’t mean I’m happy about it. Now if you’ll excuse me, it took me four hours to write this, and I need to go lie down or something.

SO LAST WEEKEND I WENT TO SEE IT AND NOW I’VE FINALLY GOT SOME OF MY THOUGHTS IN ORDER ENOUGH TO YELL ABOUT IT
FIRST OF ALL, HOLY SHIT
I mean, I don’t want to say that this movie kicked the shit out of the old movie in a dark alley, stole its wallet, and then lit it on fire, BUT, this movie kicked the shit out of the old movie in a dark alley, stole its wallet, and then lit it on fire. (The book then immediately ran both of them over in a semi truck, but that’s beside the point.)
Seriously, though, it’s crazy how much of an improvement this was. I think I’ll go through it bit by bit, so I can try and get everything.
- I’ll start off with what everybody’s going nuts about: Pennywise!
As far as comparison goes, though I am hesitant to diss Tim Curry, because he is wonderful, the new movie’s version of the character is not only scarier, it’s much more true to the book. While Curry was clearly having a ball with his performance, Miniseries!Pennywise’s portrayal is severely hurt by lackluster writing, special effects that haven’t really aged well, and basically just looking like a guy in a cheap clown costume and makeup.
Bill Skarsgård, on the other hand, not only knocked it out of the park with his performance (and is tall and skinny as fuck so that helped), but the writing and design definitely up the scare factor a lot more. I love so, so much that they’re putting more focus on what It actually is: not just a creepy clown, but a predatory Eldritch Abomination beyond human comprehension. With the much higher focus on Its shapeshifting, Its unnatural movements (the scene where It comes out of the box all twisted and unraveling Its limbs was so fucking cool, I shouldn’t have been grinning but I was anyway), the way It’s literally drooling over Georgie, how when It feeds, It pulls out all those rows of teeth and Its eyes roll back in Its head like a shark attack and the jaw unhinges like a snake...It’s feral, vicious, animalistic, fantastic.
(Side note: I lost my shit near the end when Its jaws opened past Its fucking forehead and I realized that not only does its mouth look like an unholy fusion of the mouths of a lamprey and a leatherback turtle, but those are the fucking Deadlights at the back! I am just praying to the horror gods that this time we’ll get a take on Its final boss form that actually looks scary.)
- Speaking of which, the movie’s scary parts get special kudos for making the poor girl behind me in the theater jump so hard the seats shook a little on two or three separate occasions. I could hear her like quietly crying for a little bit, she was so scared, I felt so bad! :(
- Now, on the other side of things: The Losers’ Club. Long story short, I LOVE THESE KIDS SO MUCH OH MY GOD THEIR FRIENDSHIP IS THE BEST PART OF THE MOVIE
I will actually die for Beverly Marsh
You go girl, kill that abusive father, you’re doing amazing sweetie, 10/10
EDDIE IS FUCKING PRECIOUS
I actually think I love Movie!Eddie more than Book!Eddie, he is an actual adorable puppy
“they’re GAZEBOS!!!” mY BOY <3
And I definitely love Movie!Richie more than Book!Richie, because they dumped out all his racist jokes from the book and made him brighter and more cheerful than Miniseries!Richie
He goes from friendly sweetheart to pure awesome in a second and he’s honestly one of the best parts of the movie
“Derry started as a beaver-trapping town.” “And it still is, amiright boys?!?”
“wHAT THE FUCK”
“Go blow your dad, you mullet-wearing asshole!” bURN OF THE GODDAMN CENTURY
“Now I have to kill this fucking clown!”
Stan left the Losers first as a kid and 27 years later he’ll leave them first again and I’m going to lose it
All I could think during the lamprey-mouth-sucking-face scene and the ensuing trauma was, “Oh shit, they’re having Stan get hurt the worst here for a reason”
Ben Hanscom is darling and deserves the world
Every time he smiled I just wanted to hug him
SPEAKING OF DESERVING BETTER:
Mike is probably my second favorite Loser (right behind Bill), and while they gave him a nice character arc, I wish to God that he’d gotten more screentime and that they hadn’t given his Thing as the one who researches Derry’s history and figures out It’s pattern to Ben, because, you know, that’s kind of important since he’s the one who stays in Derry to be their lookout up to adulthood
But hey, if they let him keep that role, he’ll probably get more of the spotlight in the second movie, so we’ll see
I did love that he was the one who got to fight Henry and knock him down the well, maybe as a nod to the bad blood between the Bowers and Hanlon families from the book
- Special props go to the beginning scenes (Bill and Georgie at home right up to where Georgie gets it...ah, no pun intended). In my opinion, IT has the best opening that Stephen King ever wrote, and the movie definitely did it justice.
While the miniseries kind of skimmed over their brotherly relationship, here, it’s focused on like it should be, front and center, and was genuinely deep and touching. Maybe this is just me as an older sister talking, but watching the two of them together, clearly loving each other, and knowing that this is the last time Bill will ever see his brother alive seriously got to me
I liked how they had Georgie actually be creeped out by the clown in the sewer, like any normal child, enough that he almost ran off
And unlike the book or miniseries, his actual death here wasn’t just scary, it hurt my heart to see Georgie panicking and crying and trying to get away
“Billyyyyyy!” fucking kill me
And while Book!Bill will always be my favorite (he just seems to have more depth to him there), he’s definitely a lot more compelling here than he is in the miniseries
We actually get to see believable grief and denial, and a seriously heartbreaking speech about how walking into the lair of a murdering monster, with no guarantee he’ll come back out alive, is easier than walking into a home without his little brother
And then at the end, when he gets the undeniable proof that his brother died a horrible death and there was no way he could have saved him (btw, that shot of the raincoat came out of NOWHERE and HIT ME LIKE A BRICK), and finally breaks down crying -- !
Fuck. Me. Running; that all hurts
I don’t care that the online quizzes say I’m most like Ben or Bev, I’ve always identified with Bill the most. I’m not a natural leader, but I’m reserved, usually thinking hard, sometimes have trouble speaking, and if I ever lost my little brother, I don’t know what I’d do without him. His is the story I feel most connected to, and I’m glad it was done so well.
- (One more note on Beverly’s big scene, though: as much as I loved it, I have to say, I’m wondering how it will affect Chapter Two. If I remember correctly, Book!Beverly only ended up with Tom Rogan because she never got over what her father did, much less stood up to him when she was just a kid, let alone friggin killed him. The only reason I don’t have too much of a problem with her being damsel-in-distress captured to rally the boys together is that half the point of that scene is to show that since she’s already physically fought and killed her worst fear, she isn’t affected in the slightest by It. One could make an argument that it would be a result of all the kids’ memories of what they did fading as they grow up and leave Derry -- and Bev’s already leaving by the end of this movie -- but if she isn’t at all intimidated by the literal embodiment of everything humans fear while still a child, I don’t know that I’ll be able to buy that she inexplicably ended up trapped by a run-of-the-mill shitbag like Tom as a grown adult.)
- As for the human villains! Let me just start off by saying PATRICK HOCKSTETTER GOT FUCKING ROBBED.
Okay, to be fair, I’m not invested enough in his character to be actually irritated about it, and if they decided that the underage sewer orgy couldn’t be filmed (a decision I fully approve of, the blood bonding scene alone was a lot cooler and I don’t care what Stephen King says, the damn story didn’t need an underage sewer orgy), then Patrick murdering his baby brother out of solipsistic spite and jerking off Henry in a junkyard wouldn’t fly, either. His scenes add nothing to the plot, anyway; the guy is there purely to be fucked up and creepy. (Though I must admit, it was cool to see what It would do with a victim that could feel neither fear nor pain.)
But on the other hand, if you’re not going to include any of the parts that made him fucked up and creepy, then why even have him in the movie? It just seems pointless.
Seriously, this was my train of thought during that whole scene:
“Wait, Patrick? This whole time, I thought that was Victor...Wait, he’s clearly going to die, they’re not going to kill him off so soon?! They’re not...Oh, nope, yep, there he goes. He’s dead. And not a leech to be seen. Shame.”
Henry’s other friends didn’t leave much of an impression on me, but then again I didn’t care about them in the book or miniseries either. It was pretty much the same with Beverly’s father, except it was a great move to remove Bev’s mom to make it so poor Bev is trapped with just her father, in a much more vulnerable position than the book or the miniseries, with no one to stop him from hurting her
However, I did like how they did Henry; he’s a lot easier to take seriously as just a fucked-up kid now that he doesn’t look like Walmart Danny Zuko
While I feel like I prefer how his father was portrayed in the book, this is an interesting twist on his character: he can play the part of the strict but good cop in public, to make sure his son doesn’t make him look bad in the guise of keeping him on the straight and narrow, but in private, abusing and humiliating him as he pleases, and since he’s a cop, there’s no one Henry could go to for help and so he’s doomed to end up just as vicious and cruel as his father, just more obvious about it
“Ain’t nothing like a little fear to make a paper man crumble;” oh my god what an asshole but what a good line
(Side note, I kept thinking I recognized Henry’s face from somewhere, but I looked up Nicholas Hamilton on IMDB and I haven’t seen anything he was in. Weird.)
Also: since Henry didn’t stay in the picture long enough to be used as the scapegoat for the murders and end up in an asylum, I’m wondering how they’ll bring him back for the second half, since the creators confirmed that yeah, like the book, he isn’t quite dead
Oh God, what if they have it so It was keeping him unnaturally alive in the sewers for 27 years?! That’s some horrible I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream shit but if that’s how they want to go it might work!
Granted, though, having no asylum leaves the filmmakers without the impossible problem of trying to make a dog in a clown suit scary...
- I don’t think there’s any more characters I have any opinion on and it’s the middle of the night and I’m too tired to say much else but yeah, all the kudos to the cast and crew for being so amazing
- AND! MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL!
AFTER OVER A HUNDRED YEARS AND COUNTLESS ATTEMPTS, THIS MOVIE HAS FINALLY GIVEN US THE BEST MOMENT IN ALL OF CINEMA HISTORY:
LIKE, I SAW THIS GIF BEFORE I SAW THE MOVIE AND I WAS CONVINCED, 100% CONVINCED, THAT IT WAS AN EDIT
BUT NOPE, THAT’S THE ACTUAL SCENE. THE ENTIRE THEATER BURST OUT LAUGHING. NOW, AS MY FRIEND WHO WAS WITH ME SAID, “WE AS HUMANS HAVE ASCENDED TO THE HIGHEST FORM OF ART.” THERE’S YET ANOTHER ENDLESS SOURCE OF FUEL FOR MY BAD DECISIONS AT 2:00 AM:
(if you listen very closely, you can hear me and my undone homework sobbing in the distance)
(there’s over 20 parts to that series now, as of the typing of these insane ramblings)
(just in case anyone else would like to make some Bad Choices)
- I’m looking forward to the second half and how they’ll handle the adult Losers’ stories, because I now have 100% faith in all involved to do it just as well as they did the kids’ half
All I’ll say on what my expectations are for Chapter Two is, I will go into it knowing damn well that if they stay faithful up until the end, the ending will break my heart just like the book did and I’ll end up crying shamelessly in the theater like Les Miserables all over again
“I loved you guys, you know. I loved you so much.” fUCK YOU STEPHEN KING, YOU AND YOUR FUCKING ENDINGS, DONT PLAY WITH MY FEELINGS LIKE THIS

Get To Know Chicago Based House and Techno Artist Ōsé | EDM Identity
Ōsé has helped make an impression on the Chicago home as well as techno scene along with his excellent manufacturings and also opening sets before Jauz and also Richie Hawtin.Attendees at Jauz's North Coastline afterparty or even Richie Hawtin's current excursion quit in Chicago might possess left behind inquiring themselves a question: who is Ōsé? The latest grad of Los Angeles-based development school Icon Collective has gone back to Chicago and made a label for themself in the local area scene along with various position slots at Protocol Music Hall. With a creation style that draws inspiration from numerous designs of property and also techno, Ōsé has struck the ground running
in 2019 and also is actually a musician to watch on in 2020 and also beyond. He is actually launched many EPs including 5150, Provider, and also Electrical Power Move, all packed with his darker and danceable manufacturing style. With lots of original popular music out now and a lot more on the technique, Ōsé has taped an exclusive all-original mix for our team all to indulge our ears on. Take a listen closely to his visitor mix below as well as read on to read more about this inspiring promising artist.Stream EDMID Guest Mix 188|| Ōsé on SoundCloud: Greetings Ōsé, many thanks for chatting along with our company today. Allow's boot things off along with a consider you as an artist, when did you first decide to dive right into the planet of dancing songs and
w hat's the tale behind your name?My first visibility to dance music was when dubstep was actually 1st making its own method into the
States. It was actually thus fresh and also unlike everything I had actually listened to previously. I had constantly been actually making popular music and also audio yet I couldn't craft how the hell they were making this weird songs, as well as Iknew I needed to think it out so I believed I 'd open up
up GarageBand as well as be on my means ... child, was I incorrect. After a little even more research I very soon recognized that I was battling a really rigorous uphill war trying to use GarageBand as well as it certainly received my ended up item. I very soon bought Maschine(components & software) along with hopes that it will boost my creation efforts and although it carried out, I was certainly not satisfied with the workflow. With some additional excavating,
I discovered that a bunch of these musicians whose songs I was so surprised by were utilizing Ableton Live so I chose to get a copy. Right now I have all the resources that they were actually making use of ... I only required to place in my 10,000 hours(which I am still focusing on). When it comes to my name: In particular folklores, Ōsé is actually a fallen angel and also some of the presidents of hell. He shows guy the
benevolent scientific researches and provides straightforward response to inquiries of the divine in addition to possessing the power to drive a man crazy. It is actually all cooperative with my advertising that hinges on various kinds of thoughts control. After developing up in the areas of Chicago, you just recently attended Image Collective
Songs Creation College. Tell our team a little bit of bit about your course and just how you found yourself going to there.I was undergoing a definitely rough spot in my life as well as I knew that I must bring in an adjustment or I definitely would not manage to take it much longer. I was actually so nourished up with nearby pubs and the exact same saddening skins every weekend that it was actually driving me outrageous. I had started creating the previous year and
discovered some solace in my personal computer screen however struck a large wall surface in my manufacturing skills and also came across Symbol Collective's web site at an ideal time. After a little research study, I
obtained the hell of it as well as to my unpleasant surprise, I was actually accepted with lower than a week to leave all my things and head to Los Angeles. Being actually the worrier I am I was doubtful if I would certainly have the ability to make it function yet I knew that if I kept in Illinois I will be actually embeded the same gloomy comments loophole without any lighting in the end of the passage. I merely needed something to transform, yet nothing ever before carries out unless you are actually the stimulant, so I stuffed my bags and also rented a U-Haul to move to Los Angeles and start at Icon. What are actually a few of the absolute most beneficial items of understanding that you got during the course of your opportunity at Icon? The very most important item of know-how I acquired from my opportunity at Icon
was actually undoubtedly using the Art of Circulation course. It showed me how to develop with no strands attached as well as simply be myself because that is regularly the very best version of you, as well as a model that no person can easily emulate. You have actually burst onto the Chicago setting in the final month along with opening up slots for Jauz as well as Richie Hawtin at Pact Popular Music Hall. Explain what looked at your scalp thŌsé evenings.
What was that encounter like?I have actually been creating and also executing popular music for pretty much my whole lifestyle yet my shows would certainly
commonly be to an unfilled room or even if I was fortunate, a loaded cellar of one hundred people maximum. To participate in to clŌsé to 1,000 individuals as well as feature all my effort was actually an outright dream, as well as it was a lot more special to share the phase along with a fellow Image grad. I don't bear in mind a lot of being on phaseas I sort of passed out from the adrenaline, yet I do don't forget instantly stepping off the phase and bursting into tears as I provided my dad a huge caress who has actually consistently been my some of my most significant enthusiasts and also advocates together with my mom and also sis.
As for the Richie Hawtin program, which was even harder for me to procedure. He is just one of the major advocates that has enabled electronic songs to be extra largely allowed as well as is a trailblazer for the category of techno and also electronic music generally. Atop the only thing that, he is among my most significant impacts. To share show business along with someone of his quality was only an aspiration happened, and also it was actually the best option to feature the darker edge of Ōsé.What sticks out regarding your music is that it is actually permitted you to open for 2 astonishingly various acts. What sort of atmosphere perform you select in your sets and perform you move toward prep work for them differently?Although a DJ is actually suppŌséd to be actually a crowd-pleaser, I think the absolute most
vital part of DJing is actually participating in popular music that resonates with you on every degree feasible. If you are actually having fun and playing the music you enjoy, I really feel that it is actually fairly challenging for the group to possess a bad opportunity unless they involved the gig along with the inappropriate mindset from the beginning. From a spectator point ofview, the best momentous opportunities at a series are actually always unreleased songs that you have actually never heard, and might certainly never hear again, so I attempt to participate in as a lot of my unreleased songs
as achievable to offer the concert-goers the same feeling of ecstasy that I really feel when I hear a song that I won't have the capacity to listen to once again, or at least for yet another married couple months till released. You have actually possessed no scarcity of brand new songs releases in 2019, with several self-released EPs. Just how have you been actually capable to crank out a great deal in therefore little bit of opportunity and also what's your creation flow like? The finest way to possess a higher outcome, in my viewpoint, is actually to certainly never let your own self cease making. I believe that at times our experts might think that our creativity is actually sieved or even broken when it may really merely be our vanity not being actually felt free to along with what our experts are developing. That being actually claimed, I assume
it is actually always essential to keep in mind why you're developing: certainly not due to the fact that you intend to create a"banger"however due to the passion of developing from the beginning. Thus when your monitor isn't simply what you desire it to become, you can remain based as well as always keep improving. It is actually regularly vital to know your restrictions and when you need to step out of your workshop for a breather, however equally as essential to understand when you need to resolve the problems that you are actuallyexperiencing. When you resolve thŌsé complications you become a much better developer as well as even a far better individual with every hurdle you jump over. You Full Command EP is arranged to find out on November 1.
What can audiences expect on Total Management!.?. !? You can easily count on a little bit of a darker side on this EP. The topic is a little grimmer than my normal tunes as I desire to drop some lighting on a number of the concerns that I experience our company are actually all being actually dealt with at this moment while still being a little bit tongue in cheek. Music has regularly been a technique for me to presume additional as well as grow my mindset and also I wish to attempt as well as aid other individuals discover their ideas and consciousness along with my music.Looking in the direction of the future, what are some traits you wish to obtain both temporary and also long-lasting? I am actually
bewitched due to the wealthy background of electronic popular music as well as rave society so apart from participating in considerable amounts of jobs as well as discharging as much popular music as I can, I am operating on receiving associated with putting on shows for Chicago that showcase the abrasive Do It Yourself attribute of where raving absolutely stemmed from. Nothing at all fancy; Just a grimy stockroom, excellent individuals, and loud songs.
Most definitely keep an eye out for 5150 top quality events around Chicago in 2020 plus whole lots of Ōsé launches on my label 5150. As for the long-lasting,
I would like to start an after college program that offers just about anything a younger kid might need to have or desire to look into in addition to a few of the many things that our learning body seems to fail to remember ... I intend to provide every thing from development & audio lessons, sports, financing, religion, and also mental wellness and also wellness training courses and also every thing in between! I have actually constantly been honored along with a terrific household and also a roof over my head however a whole lot of little ones aren't that blessed as well as I desire to supply thŌsé children a safe house to obtain away from their stress, even though it is actually simply for a couple of hrs a time. Popular music has consistently been my safe house to leave my thoughts so I wish to utilize my personal music to deliver the very same trait for others. Finally, what's your beloved component about the vivid music setting here in Chicago?I assume the best attractive as well as exclusive aspect of Chicago is actually exactly how a lot everyone desires it ... regardless of what that" it"may be. The Midwest hustle is certainly a hustle that may certainly not be actually defeated and also I believe that is actually why our team possess several of the greatest craft and songs the world needs to deliver; without a self-pride fastened many of the time. Everybody puts their
scalp down and functions, and also when it's time to select it up and also observe the fruits of their work, it's very easy to observe how challenging they benefited it. Chicago is absolutely one of the very most special spots in the world.Follow Ōsé on Social Media:

Kevin Cage of @spotlightsaga reviews... Riverdale (S01E05) Chapter 5: Heart of Darkness Airdate: February 23, 2017 @cwnetwork Ratings: 0.975 Million :: 0.34 18-49 Demo Share Score: 8.25/10 **********SPOILERS BELOW********** Maple syrup, huh... According to several different procedurals I watch that's a key ingredient in the ink in counterfeit bills. I'm only suggesting that there's more to the story... As there usually is... And secrets & Riverdale seem to go hand in hand. Madelaine Petsch once again is a scene-stealer throughout the episode, tho Chapter 5 really slows down the barn-burner type pacing that 'Riverdale' has conditioned us to and made sure we understood how over-the-top and wicked The Blossom family is. I had mentioned before that Cheryl was like an archetype as other characters seemed to be much more 3-D, and then in a later episode she remarked that not only was she aware of this, she was proud of it and used it to her advantage. She wears the brevity of her character like an armor... And now, as we get a real inside look into the Blossom household, we see why. The Blossom's are as dark and sinister as their history would suggest... And as well as the framing device of Jughead's poetic narration. In the beginning he claims that The Blossom Estate was like 'Riverdale's very own haunted house' and referred to Cheryl as a 'Gothic Heroine'. A few critics have taken issue with Jughead's narration, but I find that, along with the iconic color scheme, and emotional original score, only helps to add to Riverdale's overall unique aesthetic and furthers the idea that Jughead is the right man for the job of handling the school paper and side-investigation into Jason Blossom's murder. He's talented, naturally curious, and he has a lot of free time on his hands... So when he's not downing burgers at Pops, he's leading the show's narrative and helping the town piece together theirs as well. Cheryl reaches out to Veronica, who ends up with the real grasp of who The Blossom's are... Sitting at Cheryl's self imposed dinner party the night before the funeral and getting an earful of the trademark 'Blossom Bitchiness' as Penelope chastises her daughter every chance she gets, and both Penelope and Clifford use the opportunity to remind Veronica that her father is a crook and in jail. So not exactly the hippest of dinner parties... It's more like a Dark Shadows' version of 'The Real Housewives of Riverdale'. It's campy and dark, but deliciously so. I'm not sure why Penelope doesn't want Cheryl to speak at the service, but to be perfectly frank, there is some serious resentment which makes my mind goes to incestuous places... Maybe Penelope was jealous of Cheryl and Jason's relationship, I have no clue. It's actually perfectly fine that they don't really explain it, I like that The Blossom's are more myth then men... While Archie, Jughead, Veronica, & Betty are allowed full blown nuance to their personalities... And like I said, Madelaine Petsch is nailing this role, she doesn't need a character with many different facets, because she's giving so much life to this almost cartoonish 'Weeping Willow' from 'Bring It On' type chick, so really there's none needed. Meanwhile Archie is going through it, he's having trouble deciding what's more important... Football or music. His new *almost* music mentor that Valerie sent him too, Oscar Castillo (ironically played by Raùl Castillo of HBO's 'Looking' fame) says he cannot give Archie what Ms Grundy gave him. I had a good laugh at that one, as Richie from 'Looking' could totally give Archie all that and more... But let me stay focused. We're almost through this. Archie decides that he can do both, but captain is off the table, and gives Jason's old jersey to Penelope at the service... To which Penelope responds as freakishly as possible... Even adding a little stroke for good measure. Oh it's going to be juicy AF when The Blossom's secrets are put on blast, they've obviously got them in spades. Betty continues on her sleuthing mission with Jughead, creeping around the Blossom mansion and making the most of her visit... The weirdness continues as The Blossom Grandmother wheels from a dark corner of the room and mistakes Betty for her sister Polly. Polly's relationship and it's serious nature comes to light as Grandma Blossom reveals that a family heirloom was handed down to Polly. Jason & Polly were seriously involved and Hal Cooper, Polly & Betty's father, stepped in and either separated the two or... Something even more sinister (but as a long time viewer of PLL, I'm totally ready for a logical explanation that just leads to more questions). They deduce that whoever stole & tore down Sheriff Keller's case files wasn't at the drive-in, because that's when it all went down. All roads are leading back to Betty's father, Hal, who was obviously the one who destroyed the original evidence and murder board. The show isn't ambiguous in letting us know as it cuts to Hal literally holding one of the files. More juicy secrets to mull over for another week! Another great episode in the books for Riverdale, slightly different tonally, and the pace has definitely taken a hit, but it all works... It all still embraces that iconic look, sound, and feel that 'Riverdale' continues to coin as its own.
