You never fail to make me feel special
Tumblr media
Summary: Hugh couldn't make it to your concert tonight but there's a surprise
Pairing: Hugh Jackman x Singer!reader (female)
(Some grammar and punctuation mistakes)
(some sexy dances)
(Kinda Long)
(I'm sorry that the lyrics are bad I just threw them together)
Ever since you were young you knew you wanted to be a singer. You dreamt about selling out stadiums on your world tour, being nominated or winning some awards wouldn’t be bad either.
You worked hard to achieve your dream. No matter how many setbacks you had, it didn’t stop you from achieving your goal.
All that hard work paid off, as you are now on a sold-out world tour for your third album, Memory. You were the Pop princess of the year, everyone was talking about you, your tour, and even deciphering some of your songs that your fans believe to be about your boyfriend Hugh Jackman.
Yes, you were dating the Marvel Daddy Hugh Jackman. You two met on the set of Deadpool and Wolverine, you were recording a song when he and Ryan came into the recording studio to see if they liked the song you wrote. You thought he was a cutie, you would’ve asked him out but you remembered that he was in the middle of a divorce and you didn’t know if Hugh would be into dating a 26-year-old. So you backed off.
But Hugh kept liking and commenting on your Instagram.
It was Ryan’s idea to have Hugh invite you to the small wrap party that the crew had. With Ryan as his wingman, you two hit it off and started your relationship. You two kept it a secret from the public, till you two announced your relationship at the Deadpool and Wolverine premiere.
You both are each other's biggest supporters. The day the movie was released to the public you wore a sequin Wolverine suit at your concert to show how your love and support for Hugh. He will take every opportunity to talk about you during those interviews.
It broke Hugh’s heart that he couldn’t attend one of your shows since you got together. Hugh was busy with his press tour for this movie. Of course, you understood this movie is a big deal to him and his fans but he promised that once the press tour was over he would be at every single concert.
You stood in your dressing room at SoFI Stadium, doing vocal warm-ups and practicing your dance moves. Before heading to Canada, Los Angeles was your last show on your United States tour.
Touring across the country was an amazing experience. Seeing your friends, family, and fans coming to your shows always brings a smile to your face, you can’t wait to share it with Hugh.
It was an hour before show time. You started to get ready. The Butterfly necklace was from Hugh as a just-because gift.
Your final touch was drawing your wing eyeliner, you leaned back in your chair. You’ve done this thousands of times and yet your heart still races. The nerves…the excitement. What if you missed your cue, what if the fans hate the concert, what if someone from your crew gets hurt, what if something happens to one of your fans and security is too late to do something?
Ding Ding
You looked at your phone and smiled, always coming to the rescue.
Hugh<3 Break a leg tonight Darling. You’re going to be amazing as always.
You
I wish you were here );
Hugh<3 Me too. I promise after this interview then I’m all yours<3
Knock Knock You looked over your shoulder to see your manager Daisy poking her into the dressing room “You ready?” she asked giving you an encouraging smile, you nodded your head trying to save your voice.
You I have to go! I love you! Good luck with your interview! Remember you are doing this interview to get people to watch your movie not to talk about me!
Not that you mind but You didn’t want another text from Ryan complaining about how his pants were talking Hugh<3 But how else are the people supposed to know that you’re my girl?
Your face heat up You OMG Stoooop!
Daisy knocked on the door once more as a warning. You set your phone back down on the makeup station. Before you left you silently prayed to the poster of your (F/S) for the show to run smoothly.
You stop before stepping onto your platform which brings you to the main stage, Theo from the crew places your mic pack on your dress, your earpiece, and hands you a silver rhinestone microphone. Theo gave you a thumbs up and you stepped on the mini platform.
The platform rose and on cue, your back was to the audience; you thought it was hilarious. Realization hit your face and you turned to face the screaming audience.
The band started to play an energetic beat and you placed the mic close to your lips.
If we weren’t best friends we would strangle each other We get in trouble together She saw me at my worst and she still loves me She’s my ride-or-die
This song was on your first-ever album. It was amazing to see people on TikTok use this song, you were glad people could relate to it. Your best friend always supported you on your journey to fame.
Near the end of the song the band had a solo (they deserve to shine) You were on the runway with your dancers, shimming to the right side of the stage. This was your time to look at the audience, all those smiling faces get you so energetic.
You shimmed to the left, looking at the crowd, and that's when you saw him. Butterflies flew in your stomach, Hugh was here in the VIP tent, singing along. His smile was so big, and his eyes were full of love. Forgetting you were performing, you jumped in your spot while excitedly waving to him. Then you remembered that you were performing. You stopped, covering your face behind your hands, silently laughing along with everyone else.
When you pulled your hands away you saw Hugh wave back with the same amount of enthusiasm and blew a kiss. You blew a kiss before walking to the center of the runway and bringing the mic back near your lips.
She’ll kill for me and I’ll kill for her She’s my ride or die-ie-ie
The music stopped and you smiled as the crowd applauded. You placed your mic on its stand “Hi!” The crowd screamed “Welcome to the Memory tour!” The crowd cheered “Who’s ready to have a good time LA?” The crowd cheered
You took a deep breath trying to prepare for the next song. Your eyes found Hugh, he was cheering and blowing kisses at you, even showing his wrists full of friendship bracelets. You silently laughed.
The band played a slow beat.
You call me up on a Saturday night Asking if I had plans
“And I said bitch not with you”
You called me every name in the book And that’s fine It is just a reminder That I’m happier by myself The beat picked up.
You knew it was ironic that you were singing about how happy you are by yourself while you're in a happy committed relationship.
You ran to the front of the stage and dropped on your knee with your back facing the audience.
You called me an insecure little girl But how could I ever be insecure
You bring your chest down to the floor, arching your back and flashing everyone your underwear. The audience screamed, and the platform lifted you. Your eyes landed back on Hugh who was red as a tomato that he had to fan himself. You grinned, and you sent him a wink.
An hour passed and a wardrobe change later, your show was close to wrapping up. You had to save one of the best songs for last.
You walked back onto the center stage and placed your mic into its matching stand.
“LA are you having fun tonight?!” The crowd cheered
“Can I ask you something, LA?”
The crowd cheered
Your eyes gazed back to Hugh.
“Has anyone here ever been head over heels in love with someone that it drives you…Crazy?”
The crowd screamed their heads off as the acoustic guitar played.
The platform lifted you as your backup dancers grabbed their partners and began to waltz around you.
It drives me crazy How well you read my mind It’s like we share the same one
Some fans near the VIP tent were pointing at Hugh, hyping him up. You wrote this song after the first time you said I love you to each other.
You never fail to make me feel special
Your hand slid from your neck to your lower abdomen.
You gave me an Aussie Kiss And I was under your spell It drives me wild
The fans were losing their minds while Hugh stood there grinning ear to ear not ashamed or embarrassed. He did put your exes to shame.
You took my broken heart You made me believe in love again I never knew a man could have so much love in his heart
You drew a heart in the air.
Waiting for the next chorus you mumbled I love you before blowing a kiss at him. Hugh caught it and sealed it on his lips causing your cheeks to heat up.
Once the show was over, security walked you down the path that led to your dressing room. You walked outside waving to the fans who were still there. You were really happy that this tour was a success and you got to do what you love and share it with the people you love.
You turned a corner and saw Hugh smiling in front of you making your heart skip a beat. Without wasting another second you ran towards him; you could hear the fans screaming.
You wrapped your arms around his neck “I thought you had an interview” you mumbled into his chest. Hugh wrapped his arms around your waist not caring that you were covered in sweat “They had to cancel, so I decided to come and surprise you” Hugh stated. You placed your hand on the back of his neck pulling him into a sweet kiss, Hugh pulled you closer as if you’d slipped away.
You broke the kiss “I’m so glad you did” You smiled, giving him a quick peck on his lips. Hugh tucked a strand of hair behind your ear “I would’ve brought flowers but there wasn’t enough time” Hugh admitted cupping your jaw, this man! You gave a small smile “Next time! I’m just really happy you’re here” you mumbled, this was the best surprise.
Wait until the next show, where you were going to sing Come Alive from The Greatest Showman. Hugh was pulling some confetti out of your hair “You did amazing, Love! I am so proud of you” Hugh praised, you smiled feeling pride and love.
Hugh took your hand lacing them together, you both were about to walk past the fans side by side. They were of course cheering, Hugh let go of your hand and sped a few feet ahead of you, he threw his arms towards you announcing your arrival. You stopped in your tracks trying to look annoyed at him but your small smile gave you away.
Hugh placed a kiss on your knuckles as an apology as you kept walking, “I love you” Hugh mumbled into your ear causing butterflies in your stomach “I love you more” You mumbled before stealing another kiss from him.

Boyfriend!Damian Wayne~
✩。:*•.────── ❁ ❁───────.•*:。✩
Boyfriend!Damian who is loves to admire you from afar. If it’s simply in the backyard of the manor, watching as you play and laugh around with his pets or simply in school watching as you raise your hand to answer a question or to ask questions yourself. You always wave at him when you catch him staring.
Boyfriend!Damian who find himself playing along with your weird shenanigans, without questioning or saying anything. If you ask him to join you in something he’ll join you in a heartbeat.
Boyfriend!Damian who’s always protecting you. If you tend to move he’ll fix his body so that he’s somewhat covering yours so that if something dangerous does come up, he’ll be the one to get hit and you’ll be safe
Boyfriend!Damian has every single song you ever liked mesmerized. Name of the sing, the singer, album, even the lyrics down to the bone.
Speaking of music,Boyfriend!Damian plays your favorite songs in the car while he drives and you sit in the passenger seat. He likes the way your mood changes and the way you jam out and sing along to the lyrics. He doesn’t care if you have a horrible singing voice. He’s just glad your having fun.
Boyfriend!Damian would send you good morning and good night texts. Even if his schedule with school and patrolling at night would get crammed, he would never forget.
Boyfriend!Damian who looks forward to your FaceTime calls and listen carefully as you tell him about your day and puts his input every time you as him too.
Boyfriend!Damian hates how his brothers try to intrude in his love life. Even after he had introduced them to you. He sometimes regrets it.
Boyfriend!Damian loves how you introduce him to things he missed out in his childhood. You’re the main reason why he knows the song lyrics to the little mermaid and Aladdin.
Boyfriend!Damian lets you wear his robin uniform, sometimes laughs when you complain about not being able to see through his mask.
Boyfriend!Damian who teaches you how to defend yourself just in case because he won’t be with you 24/7. That way he can feel relieved when he’s not with you because he now knows you can protect yourself.
Boyfriend!Damian gets dating advice from literally everyone because he doesn’t want to screw up what you two have.
Boyfriend!Damian sneaks into your room sometimes, but he makes sure you’re awake first, and takes you to your special spot so that you two can have your nightly talks with each other.
Boyfriend!Damian lets you borrow his clothes and expects them back, not because he hates it, but because they smell like you afterwards.
Boyfriend!Damian like to hold your hand a lot.
Boyfriend!Damian gets cooking lessons from Alfred so he can surprise you on your first anniversary
Boyfriend!Damian gets embarrassed when he remembers he wasn’t the first person to say I love you.
Boyfriend!Damian is so much happier with you then anyone else and is glad he was able to sweep you off your feet before anyone else could.
I’ll probably make a husband and version but idk yet

DELICATE✰ CHARLES LECLERC.
INTERLUDE: this is why we can't have nice things.
— the one where everybody's waiting to see the fall out.
warnings: this is basically like the INTRO chapter with all media, we're going to pretend publications and broadcast timings are not mistaken or fake, okay? ok. am i myself if i don't mention taylor swift in every chapter? no. foul language.

Vic Presley confirms y/n hasn't reached out to her even after Vic called asked her to in a publication a few days ago.
"I think she has blocked my number by now," Presley said, "I am devastated by this. I didn't think it was like her to discard relationships so easily."
Presley and y/ln have been friends since 2020, when they met at the opening of the SENSE Club in downtown Los Angeles and quickly became inseparable.
"y/n really was— is my best friend. I miss her and I want her to come back to me."
Vic Presley also commented on y/n's split from Aidan Kim in her own way: "I hate that she hurt Aidan. I was not aware they had so many problems, that's definitely the kind of stuff you tell your best friend."
y/n was spotted just a week ago with alleged (and constantly denied) boyfriend, Charles Leclerc on a stroll around Central Park. Victoria Presley couldn't help but speak her mind on this.
"y/n has changed so much since she met that guy. I met him in Miami and Monaco, he's not one of the good ones. He's managing to isolate her from everyone who loves her."
Once again, Victoria urges y/n to contact her so they can rekindle their friendship. "I am not angry at her, disappointed maybe. But I will always have my arms open for her."

Aidan Kim has been in the spotlight since 2012, when he debuted as a member of boyband phenomenon Star-5 with their hit single "End Of The Day". After the band's dissolution in late 2018 due to creative differences between the members and rumored jealousy disputes that included Aidan himself, the Korean-American superstar decided to pursue a career in acting, in aims of expanding his horizons.
'Supercut' in 2019 was the start of a a succesful career followed by '1922' (2021) and 'Conversations with Friends' (2022) plus the series 'Crimes of the Academy' (2022) before Netflix decided to cancel it.
While it is true that 'Supercut' was a box office hit and sent Aidan Kim and co-star—and former partner—into a whole new level of stardom, Aidan Kim might be regretting ever making that movie.
"Supercut holds a special place in my heart," Aidan commented, politely. "It was my first real movie." Of course Aidan doesn't count the "3D Concert Experience" he starred with his other four bandmates as a real movie. "But I carry the consequences of making Supercut with me to this day."
The whole world is aware of such consequences, as y/n y/ln is keen on having the last word when it comes to the breakup from Kim. It wasn't enough to leave him humiliated by turning his marriage proposal down.
"Someone was looking out for me that night, I think," Aidan has tried his best to let go of such bitter memories by turning them into something positive. "At the end of the day, I'm glad y/n said no. I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with her. You're witnessing how unstable she is."
"It's quite shocking honestly," Aidan Kim didn't expect his ex-girlfriend to act like this. "I helped her however I could. Talked to producers, casting agents and journalists to give her a shot. And she says I never did anything for her."
Kim couldn't help but take the chance to refer to his ex's new lover: "But I've moved on. And I hope she does the same soon. If I were Charles Leclerc, I'd be worried my new girlfriend is thinking about her ex-boyfriend so often."
Lastly, Aidan teased his upcoming album, "I've worked very hard on it. I missed making music and I hope you'll like this new sound I'm trying after leaving Star-5's commercial music behind."
"The thing about music, is that it lets you tell your side of the story too. I hope you support a man doing this the same way you root for Taylor Swift, because double-standards are so 'in' right now."

FROM THE DREW BARRYMORE SHOW — JULY 6TH
[Y/N]: ❝(...) What matters to me right now, is that people now I am nothing of what they're calling me. I am not perfect, nobody is. But I have never cheated on a partner or used someone else as a 'toy' and most importantly, I built my own career.❞
[Y/N]: ❝It gets exhausting, you hear things about yourself you never even thought possible. It could be laughable if it wasn't so cruel❞
[Y/N]: ❝My relationship ended in February, but I believe it was over way before that. I acted in a way that was not fair to my ex-partner nor to myself, and I expressed my regrets about it. He had the right to not accept my apology, but not to make stuff up about the whole situation.❞
[Y/N]: ❝He's feeding his ego, he's a man, after all. But doing it at the expense of my work and my reputation is disgusting. I want one producer or casting agent to come forward and say they gave me a role thanks to my ex-boyfriend's input, just one.❞
[Y/N]: ❝I have surrounded myself with different people. They have been a great support system, always motivating me, and holding me back when I'm about to do something stupid. This also means I have left some people out of what's going on with me, and it's for the best.❞
[Y/N]: ❝Taylor Swift, bless her soul, has given me a lot of advice. She's the sweetest person ever and since the same guy that is trying to drag me has gone after her in a few interviews, she wants this to be over as much as I do. I think he made a mistake by messing with Taylor too.❞
[Y/N]: ❝Rumors will keep running, but I am finally at peace with knowing who I am and who I can trust. But those 'sources' should know my patience is running out.❞

Mia Kim and Victoria Presley are the hottest topic right now, but not for the reasons both influencers wish, as they are in trouble!
Both Los Angeles locals have received a 'Cease and Desist' letter from recovering actress y/n y/ln this week, per her team's advice. This was confirmed by both Presley and Kim on Twitter, saying they are 'flabbergasted' that y/n is accusing them of defamation.
While y/n is far from gaining her place back in the public's heart, we are not blind to what Victoria and Mia have done for the past month, riding the wave to get views and followers talking about their shared time with y/n. Who has every right to ask them to stop, as she has done in several interviews throughout the month.
For many people, this makes it more evident that it was either Presley or Kim who contacted tabloids to get their five minutes of fame and sink y/n deeper.
Actions have consequences for everyone, and if y/n decided to pick this fight at this point in her downfall/rerise/wherever it is that we are with her, it's because she knows she can win, right?

It’s been a week now.
It’s been extremely difficult to collect my thoughts and say all of the things I wish to say. I truly never imagined that I’d be writing a post such as this one and every time the realization hits me, it kills me. My heart feels completely shattered and it’s proven to be a very tough week to navigate through. Since my blog started with my love for the GazettE, I had to pay my respects here too.
I discovered the GazettE in 2009. I was only 13 years old. The very first song I ever listened to was Filth in the Beauty. I was hooked instantly and from there, my love for them blossomed. They helped me get through some tough times and accompanied me through the good times. I have so many beautiful memories with the GazettE and I hold them very close. From all of the fantastic music, the funny interviews and backstage videos, the numerous albums and memorabilia, the outstanding music videos on repeat, to all of the amazing friends I’ve met along the way. For that, I am forever grateful to them.
In 2016, I had the opportunity to see the GazettE live and meet them in person. I cried like a baby. It was the best concert I’ve ever been to. They blew me away with their performance and stage presence. They were absolutely amazing as always! ❤️ Hearing Vortex live was a dream come true. Seeing them live and in person was a dream come true.
I remember greeting every single member clearly. All of them were super kind with warm smiles and firm handshakes. I’ll never forget how warm and friendly Reita’s smile was. How welcoming and how full of life it was. How firm his handshake was. I hold it all so close to me. Thank you for an awesome concert. You did so well as you always do ❤️
Reita, I can’t believe it’s been a week already. Time feels like it’s passing slower than ever. Losing you has felt like losing a long-time friend. It’s proving extremely difficult to see a future without you. Amidst all of this sadness, I know you’re here with us and you always will be. We will stay strong for you and we will take care of the other members for you. The GazettE will always be 5. ❤️
To our eternal bassist 🌟✨
Whose love and love for music forever remains infinite, thank you for everything. Thank you for the beautiful memories and being an inspiration to so many.
Shine brightly from the sky, Reita.
You’ll live on eternally in all of our hearts. We will always love you and you will be forever missed. ❤️

Alexxxx!!!
Tell us all about your experience!
I'm stuck at work, so if or when you have time! Let me live vicariously through you! 🖤🔥
-♥︎
HELLO MY DEAR GHOST, sorry for taking my time with it, i needed 37495 hours of sleep 😮‍💨🫂
Where do i even start!! Apart from how glad i am i could experience this with my beautiful friends @a-s-levynn @takemetoasgard and @thevenomousseprent (which was also my host for this trip mwah mwah mwah thank you once again, tell your cat i miss him 💖)
The rest under a cut, bc i am yapping a lot
It might sound silly, but that was my very first actual gig experience with friends who are as dedicated to see a band as me and it's HUGE for me ok. I am still emotional about this, I've never had this before 😭
And boooy. The coldest day of the week in Budapest and we've been by the venue by 9am. It was so so worth it tho, we've got barricade on iii's side, babey!!!!!!!!!! The organisation of the venue was so good too. At some point they came out to us with hot tea, the ticket office was giving people valuable clues, they opened a merch stand inside in warmth for people who were queueing early, the security check was swift etc. etc.
I forgor to check Bilmuri before the show and i was positively surprised by them, what a band!! Their energy was extremely contagious.
And now, the main event. It was a blast, seeing them after almost a year, man. They were so close. The sound was surprisingly good, for where we were standing (not perfect, but still, i could even hear Espera well, which never happened before!!!!!). It felt unreal, i missed seeing them live so much, like. They're here. A few meters away from me!!!! My neck stopped hurting from headbanging only today.
The cloak man's prancing is even more free, it's good he got a bigger enclosure for his shenanigans. The podiums for the girls and ii moving up and down was a nice touch (idk if they did that in the US??), iii was in his element, feeling the music very much. And iv. Well. The screams are scrumptious live. And you probably saw the Neck Photo™
The catwalk was so much fun too!! Let Espera or ii walk down the catwalk next time tho
They're so good live what the fuck man who gave them the right i mean. I knew this, but still. What the fuck, maaaan. With more money for the sound design and light design it's even more ethereal than before. The fucking. Lights. At one point i turned to look at Vessel on the catwalk and the lights shining on the back walls were so good i started taking photos of the lights instead of Vessel. Sorry, Vessel. But look at those lights!!
Tumblr media
The drum solo returned my will to live. iii's moves returned my will to live. Well, the whole gig returned my will to live.
There weren't many bad things happening either! Someone laughed out loud during one calmer part of Atlantic, but it was a coincidence, i think. No stupid yelling, no crowdsurfers (THANK FUCK), well, at least not where we were standing.
Also, the whole time before the show, there was a Vessel cosplayer standing ominously at the top of the section with seats. It was hillarious:
Tumblr media
Kudos to whoever decided to play the whole LP's Reanimation album between doors opening and Bilmuri's gig. And to that one ST crew guy who had to run closer to the stage every single time anyone from the band was going to the catwalk, poor guy. Also, i didn't recognise Adam in the new haircut at first lmao
ii made a mic drop with his drumsticks after one song (don't remember which), it was funny. You go, red bull man!!
Starting with TNDNBTG and finishing with Euclid gave me -374959HP damage. I managed not to cry on Euclid, tho. DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE BEEN WAITING TO HEAR EUCLID LIVE?
Btw. During Euclid i caught iii's pick. I mean, technically it hit me in the chest and landed on my fanny pack, but yeah. Do you know how much it means to me that it was during motherfucking Euclid of all songs??? Especially when it was my first time hearing it live???
Here's a pic with a very done-with-his-owner's-shit model:
Tumblr media
(Dw, he was purring anyway)
I took around 150 bracelets with me to give away to people. Yes, 150. Yes, i am unwell. It's only the half of what i've already done, anyway. People thought i wanna sell them lmao. Nope, i am Just Like That and Yes You Can Take More Than One Bracelet, I Don't Mind. I did get some things in exchange from some people, though!! Behold, exchange gifts and gifts from my friends (love u 🥺):
Tumblr media
Peeled Vessel plush (and fivewholeminutes bracelet) from @thevenomousseprent 🐍✨️💓
Print and Berry Vessel (Bessel, if you'd like) from a very cute person who in the midst of everything i forgot to ask about their name. Thankfully, i have a card with their insta handle!!
I didn't ask the ii sticker person and Euclid/Jericho/Calcutta bracelets about their details too 😔
Atlantic keychain from @taka-chan 💖 (ALSO I REALISED I WASN'T FOLLOWING YOU??? I WILL CHANGE THAT IN A SECOND, I'M SORRY, I AM CHAOTIC)
Hands keychain from @bubacorn 💖 (I LOVED YOUR HAIR AND OUTFIT BTW, BUT I WAS TOO SHY TO TELL YOU, SORRY)
Euclid bracelet and serpent ring from my beloved @takemetoasgard 😘😘😘
And, of course, the army of Tiny Tokens from @a-s-levynn 🔪🍌❤️‍🔥
Overall, amazing experience, 10/10, i love my friends, i love Budapest, i love this stupid fucking band that makes me travel for the whole night in a bus and stay in 2 Celsius degrees for hours.
Ok, that is finally all, sorry it was this long. Thank you for this ask, it was very fun summing it all up, i hope you could at least for a moment live through this experience while reading my ramblings 🥺🫂💖🌸🌸🌸
EDIT: i forgot i also got this banger keychain in exchange!! From a person who came for a few rituals from fucking Canada.

Weekly Tag Wednesday Thursday
Thanks for the game @jrooc and thanks for the tag @blue-disco-lights @deedala @energievie @lingy910y @creepkinginc @crestfallercanyon
Name: Mys
What is the most listened to artist in your music app of choice this month?
The Libertines - They’ve just released a new album
What song do you know all the lyrics to?
Erm… most? Well, at least most songs I regularly listen to. Back in the day when we’d still buy CDs I would get a new album and sit in my bedroom listening to it beginning to end, while reading along to the lyrics in the booklet. And oooooh, I would get so furious when bands had a booklet that did not include song lyrics. Wtf is wrong with you?? SO ANGRY! haha
What song do you pretend to know all the lyrics to and sing along to even though you don't?
It’s the End of the World As We Know It by R.E.M. I get to ‘eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn’ and then I’m lost until we hit the chorus lol But it’s such a fun song to pretend to sing along to, and really just making vaguely appropriate noises at the right time, until the chorus kicks in again… and of course we’re all ready to shout LEONARD BERNSTEIN! Hahaha
If you were to be crowned Queen/King/Royalty of listening to a band or artist, who would that be?
That would have to be Dirty Pretty Things. I fell in love with The Libertines just as they were falling apart and a few weeks away from calling it quits for good, so when Carl Barât announced the first tour of his new band Dirty Pretty Things I wasn’t gonna miss out again. So I flew to Ireland and then to England and attended the first 5 gigs of their first tour. And that pretty much set the tone for the next couple of years of my life. I ended up flying to the UK so much and meeting so many people that in the end it only made sense to move to London. Dirty Pretty Things had a tour booked starting two days after my moving day and we were gonna go to a few of the gigs. Then the day before I got on a plane they announced it would be their farewell tour, so we bought tickets for every single gig, which meant that I moved to the UK and then spent all of October, November, and half of December on tour… I didn’t start job hunting and thinking about real life until January lol
So yeah. Them. They’re my boys. As coined by the NME in their ‘sad to see them go’ article… “They were well fit and nice!”
What band/artist surprises you the most on your frequently listened to artists?
I’m ongoingly surprised by how much I managed to trick myself into liking Taylor Swift
Favourite line from a song (or one you have been thinking about lately?
Fame and Fortune by The Libertines
The deal was done, the trade was rough, Doubloons down for a double bluff, Dip your quill in your bleeding heart, Sign there and there and there
Guilty pleasure band or song?
I don’t believe in guilty pleasures.
Liking what I like don’t make me a bitch.
Okay let's talk fandom music:
Fave band or song you've discovered from a Fan Fic?
The Libertines lol My friend really wanted me to get into this band she liked, and I just wasn’t massively into music at the time, so she sent me a Libertines fanfic, and that, as they say, was that. Oh, she knew me very well… hahah
Fave Fanfic Playlist?
Right now I’m REALLY into The Menagerie playlist!
Fave Gallavich song?
Do you listen to music recommended by the writer or an included playlist?
Almost always, yeah. Though sometimes that can go terribly wrong. When someone’s like OMG THIS SONG!!! and you’re just like ‘eh, I don’t see it’ lol
What song do you think is Gallavich coded?
Well, thanks to @deedala this will never not be Season 5 Gallavich
What’s a bop you want to share with your mutuals today?
Love the original, but I also love Darren Criss
And this, because I’m dying for the next season of The Bear!!!!
Oooookay… I’m late and I’ve been way too busy, so if you’ve already played and I didn’t see please tag me in yours so I can check it out!! If not, and you’d like to do it, I’m tagging @heymacy @heymrspatel @darlingian @too-schoolforcool @palepinkgoat @vintagelacerosette @crossmydna @captainjowl @mikhailoisbaby @rereadanon @the-rat-wins @tsuga-of-mars @loftec @sickness-health-all-that-shit @deathclassic @rutherinahobbit @faejilly (you can skip the Gallavich questions!!! Hahahahah)

BTS & Grace - 25 Weeks
Tumblr media
The practice room was filled with sounds of unreleased music, some heavy breathing, the squeaking of shoes, someone dropping a bottle of water on the wooden flooring and the mutters of the staff. It was the typical chaos expected of BTS and even after their military service, they were still the same lunatics when it came to dance practice. Of course, there were changes to muscles, structure, punctuality and how everything was planned to the finest detail.
Some things, however, could not be planned to the finest detail.
With the boys back all together from the military, their comeback plans were finalised and put in place. A new album was in the making with a single having been released about two months ago and a tour was in the planning stages. It had been thought out, in great detail, with all eight members signed on and ready to go.
Yet, life never listens to plans.
Life finds a way.
Grace had been the sole member to represent the group as the boys completed their military career and her final solo concert coincided with BTS 12th anniversary. The following months allowed her to relax for once while the last members finished their service and she could enjoy having Seokjin home, could enjoy not worrying about music for once.
The plus sign on a pregnancy test threw every plan out of the window.
It wasn’t planned, it never is. It was wanted but later on. However, life found a way as Bang PD jokingly said when he was told the news. And any fear or worry about what was going to happen slowly shifted when the team came together to make adjustments.
The tour would go ahead but without Grace. She would still be there but behind the scenes, dealing with a newborn baby if all went okay. BTS would play as seven members, 6 uncles and 1 Dad.
For now, she was still part of the process and still part of practice. The 25-week baby bump had stopped her fully dancing but she could still sing and she wasn’t going to miss a single practice, interview or the like until B-Day as Jungkook had taken to calling it. B-Day for the day she was meant to give birth.
The boys had been over the moon and beyond with joy at the news. Finally, after many hints and a bit of begging, Seokjin & Grace were going to make them uncles. In Jungkook’s case, he was finally going to be a big brother and big brother had taken to following his mother wherever she went. If Seokjin wasn’t there, Jungkook was.
Jimin and Taehyung were twins of loud support - kings of snacks, blankets, and foot rubs.
Hobi had been a bouncing ball of sunshine and was already buying clothes for a child whose gender nobody knew but they all had a feeling of what it would be. Namjoon immediately started researching and buying pregnancy books, DISPATCH catching him once and sending the media into a flurry of rumours. None of which were denied or talked about.
Yoongi had taken it upon himself to build the nursery and buy the furniture. That was his job and nobody was going to take it from him. He was also secretly making a lullaby album for the future.
And Seokjin - well he was a bit of a worrywort. Constantly worrying about everything, mostly if he would be a good father because he would be on the road most of the time and he was childish yet mature, strong yet weak and every moment was a worry. But he was excited, just like the staff were, just like the families were.
The first Bangtan baby.
And the first Bangtan baby was getting a taste of the song IDOL.
Grace had a microphone in one hand, the other hand on the side of her stomach where her child seemed to be hitting in time with the beat and in front of her on the table was a selection of snacks. The doctor had told her to snack daily on carrots, cheese, yoghurt and some apple wedges with strawberries and tangerines. So it was a constant process of munching on a baby carrot then sing her lines then munch on something else.
It wasn’t too bad. She’d rather be eating than sweating.
“How’s baby Bangtan doing?” Yoongi asked, coming over once the song was done to steal some tangerine segments.
“Baby Bangtan was enjoying IDOL and were dancing up a storm, if the pain in my ribs is any indication,” Grace sighed then frowned when she realised what Yoongi had stolen. Seeing the look on her face, Yoongi quickly sat down and began peeling the other tangerines. If there was one thing he was going to do, it would be not getting on Grace’s bad side. Her mood swings have been a bit unpredictable lately.
“Noona, I’ve got your black tea,” Jimin said as he placed the mug on the table before sitting beside his noona.
Tea - the only drink she could have twice a week. And it had to be black, not her normal drink which she missed.
“Ah here comes Joon with his daily pregnancy fact,” Yoongi muttered with a grin as he finished peeling one tangerine.
Namjoon ignored the smaller man and glared at Jimin for giggling. “25 weeks so 6 months, we’ve got 3 months to go. Baby should start developing blood vessels in their lungs and their nose will start to work as well,” he read off his phone where he had downloaded an app to keep track.
“We? What we? I think it’s Grace and I who have 3 months to go,” Seokjin wandered over as he pressed a towel to his skin to dry it from the sweat.
“No hyung, we all have three months to go until the bangtan baby is here,” Jungkook said while coming up behind the older man to give him a light slap to the neck before settling down beside Grace.
Grace could see Seokjin’s mouth begin to open with his traditional ‘ya!’ but Taehyung beat him to it, shoving his phone in front of his face. “Jin-hyung, what do you think of that t-shirt? I think we should all get one for when the baby comes. It says Team Bangtan Baby.”
“Team Bangtan Baby,” Hobi grinned as he took his place next to Jimin. “That kind of works. Can we use that when we start doing RUN BTS again? We can have baby-themed episodes. Who can change a nappy the quickest?”
“You won’t be able to do that hyung, you can’t stand the sight of sick so how are you going to deal with dirty nappies?” Jimin asked, pushing the mug of tea closer again.
“I can deal with it, I’ve changed since the military you know,” Hobi glared at the younger man while puffing up his chest.
“Hobi-hyung, you screamed and jumped when you bumped into that mannequin the other day,” Jungkook pointed out from where he lay his head against Grace’s stomach, grinning when he felt the light kicks.
“I’m feeling very ganged up on here,” Hobi muttered as he pulled out his phone and distracted himself.
“How are you feeling anyway, Gigi?” Namjoon asked, turning the attention back to the woman in question.
“Hemorrhoids are fun,” Grace said in the most deadpan way she could causing Yoongi to giggle behind his hand and for Namjoon to stutter.
“Boys! As much as it’s fun to torture your female member, we’ve got practice to get to,” Sung-deuk called from the other side of the room.
There was a collective groans and sighs as they all stood up. Grace smugly grinned, holding up her strawberries and leaning back against the chair that had been provided. “Go on boys, I’ve covered you for over a year. Now it’s your turn. I’ve got some baking to do here, only three months to go.”

Favorite Music I Listened to in 2023
Through Census Designated this year and her various Dariacore albums, I discovered Jane Remover in 2023 and I'm really glad I did (thanks for the recommendation, Imogen!). Census Designated has an utterly fantastic vibe that resonates with feelings of nostalgia and melancholy like nothing else for me. It puts me in such a unique headspace and I will treasure it for that.
Tumblr media
The album is supposed to embody dead grass, and it nails it. It makes me recall timeless moments with friends doing nothing together. Of countless nights driving back and forth between Rochester and Minneapolis back when I didn't live in Minneapolis yet but had friends there. It brought me back to some of the feelings I had right after college when I had to leave so many friends behind to join the Real World, and how I was able to hold on to some of those relationships despite distance and change. I didn't even like this album that much on first listen. It's been through repeated listens in different contexts that it's won its way into my heart. In my basement, listening with a friend. Outside, listening with some friends around a bonfire. On lonely drives to and from my various old stomping grounds.
Tumblr media
TLDR: I have imprinted on this album and it's now a core memory and feeling that I can reference back to in the future when I want to revel in the emotions of a certain time period in my life. Good shit. Also, good companion piece to the game, Fallow.
Tumblr media
I listened to some of the songs from Caroline Polachek's new album, Desire, I Want to Turn Into You, for the first time in the car with some friends driving through a small town in Wisconsin. It was on full blast. What a sound! The album has so much energy. It's just absolute banger city.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Say what you want. But I've waited so long for a new Skrillex album and we got 2 in one year. Been a fan ever since listening over and over again to every single track he put out back in middle and high school on my school bus rides from 2011-2014. His work had a huge impact on my musical taste and my own music. Not every track on these albums hit for me. They never have on any of the past albums. But the ones that hit, fucking hit.
Tumblr media
I had listened to some underscores songs a couple years ago and liked them, but never looked much further into the artist's music until a friend brought them up again. Then they released a new album this year and all hell broke loose. Great music. Energy, passion, emotion, all the good stuff.
Tumblr media
Frost Children is great. Saw them live this year. They sound even better live. Listen to Frost Children. Favorite song is COUP.
Tumblr media
Also saw Arooj Aftab play live with Vijay Iyer and Shahzad Ismaily and it was just chill and beautiful sounds with haunting vocals the whole time. Good stuff.
Tumblr media
Dodgr had only really put out the occasional single for so long and each one was an absolute banger with a great and unique vocal style over some good beats. I missed that she put out a whole album last year. It slaps.
Tumblr media
Also, I want to give one final shoutout to a band I forgot to mention, Geese and their album this year 3D Country. It's like neo-Dad Rock or punk country. A blend of country/rock music with punk cowboy vocals. It was the music that was the most out of my wheelhouse out of everything I've listened to this year and I love it now. Saw them live and they were great.
Honorable mentions:
Elise Trouw - Losing Sleep
KNOWER - KNOWER FOREVER
Alexander Panos - Nascent (2022)
Rebecca Black - Let Her Burn

Note
for the music themed ask game, because as i mentioned, i feel the need to expand my taste, can i have 1, 2, 3, 5, 32, 34, 35 please? (take your time to answer properly, i know it's a lot but hey, it could've been the entire post =D)
an album you can’t stop listening to lately
The Rise and Fall of A Midwest Princess - Chappell Roan
I burnt myself a copy of it on disc and it literally lives in my cd player in my room and I will just put it on at least once a day. IT'S SO GOOD. EVERY SONG.
2. an album you wish you could hear again for the first time
American Idiot - Green Day. This was a pivotal part of my life when this album came out (realized I was into girls, started standing up to my bullies, really took in being myself and my own person). And I think that album really fueled me. I was allowed to be angry when I listened to it and sang it (something I was pretty much shunned for - I wasn't allowed to be angry as a kid and even went to therapy for it. Which, you know, didn't make a lot of sense...I was angry AND being bullied every single day but, of course I didn't have the right to be angry, right?) This is also why Green Day is my favorite bands. They got me through a lot of tough shit growing up and even into adulthood. I was supposed to see them in concert but that was literally the first year of the pandemic and of course, their concert was cancelled. 💚
3. a song you really like by an artist you otherwise don’t listen to very much (whether that’s because you usually don’t like their music, or just because you haven’t listened to the rest yet)
I feel like there's a lot of these! But recently, I would say Liar by Jelly Roll? A lot of my answers for this one would be country singers; I'm not a big fan of country music but usually there's just that one song that HITS. I ADORE Whiskey Girl - Toby Keith, Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks, Mud on the Tires - Brad Paisley but I don't listen to them AT ALL other than those songs! 😂
5. name an album you feel is perfect
American Idiot - Green Day.
You HAVE to listen to it in order; literally a story. A rock opera. You have to listen to it all in one sitting; front to back. You gotta sit there hating everything, truly just stewing in grief and anger and rage and then you can really, really enjoy it. Always a very empowering experience for me.
32. what is a band/artist you really wanted to start listening to, but you just really couldn’t get into it?
I feel like I missed it all when it was fresh and happening because I was so invested in Green Day that I really missed out on appreciating Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance. I didn't even bother with them (even though they were played alongside Green Day on MTV) but, I was really hyper-focused on Green Day so, the other two never really got a chance 😂
34. pick one of your favorite bands/artists and choose a song by them that you associate with each season
Green Day (ok you're gonna get more than one because so many songs reminds me of so many seasons in my life and when I would listen to these songs the most)
Spring: Are We The Waiting/Coming Clean
Summer: 86/When I Come Around/Album: Dookie (I think this was the very first cd I ever heard and it was with my Dad in his old green mini van...isn't that funny? Green Day in a green van 💚)
Autumn: Wake Me Up When September Ends/Good Riddance/21 Guns/Album: American Idiot (I remember waiting to go to school and having MTV on and watching music videos from this album; always reminds me of Autumn)
Winter: Basket Case/Dilemma
35. name two musicians who haven’t already collaborated on anything who you think would sound great together
I wanna see Chappell Roan and Orville Peck SO BAD TOGETHER. PUT THEM TOGETHER!!!!

new to me 2024 - the highlights, part 1
I listened to 644 songs that I had never heard before in 2024.
For at least the last 4 or 5 years, I've started getting in the habit of creating a playlist at the beginning of each year where I keep track of songs that are new to me - some of them might be very old, but as long as it's a recording that I'd never heard before, it counts.
Listening to the playlist on shuffle over the last week or so, it was honestly very hard to narrow down which songs stuck with me the most. When it came down to it, I was most interested in what the tracks made me feel - things like joy, melancholy, & heartache.
I did the best I could to choose the 19 most noteworthy tracks that I heard for the first time in 2024. A lot of these were top songs in my Spotify Wrapped. Some of them didn't get much playtime overall, but something about them stuck with me. Tracks are listed like a countdown, but they're more or less just in the order that I first heard them.
check out the whole playlist here! This post is the first of three parts.
#19 - Rainbow Kitten Surprise, "Painkillers"
youtube
This first one falls under the "melancholy" & "heartache" categories. I heard this track pretty early into 2024, sometime in January. The way the driving bass & guitar melody break down into the half-time drag about halfway through the track really sells it for me. And the name of the band itself really threw me for a loop. I'd listened to some of their newest album later in the year, and was blown away by their commitment to bending & blending genres. It's like I can feel every single word.
"very lovely morning try not to kill yourself today think of all that you'd be missing; prescription made painkillers"
#18 - Paramore, "Rose-Colored Boy"
youtube
This was my #2 most played track of the year on Spotify Wrapped. I went on a MASSIVE Paramore binge early into the year - I listened through their entire catalogue, and even started putting together a (very unfinished) Hayley Williams chronology. Back in the myspace days, Paramore was always one of those bands that I was actually sorta into, but were too scene for my edgy Hot Topic wannabe-mall-goth (yes that's a thing, spotify keeps using it to describe my daylists) sensibilities.
Whelp, this year I just went for it. Nope, I don't regret it in the least. I am a Paramore fan. That's all there is to it.
"Rose-colored boy, I hear you making all that noise about the world you want to see and I'm so annoyed, cuz I just killed off what was left of the optimist in me"
#17 - Meet Me @ The Altar, "Hit Like A Girl"
youtube
Speaking of Paramore, here's a band that I almost immediately wrote off as a Paramore knock-off. I think I first heard a track by them on some sort of Spotify current pop punk playlist, though honestly I probably couldn't even pinpoint which song it was. The next time I ran into them was on boygenius' the record Blueprint playlist with the track "Now Or Never". Then I checked out their latest album, and thought it was pretty rad ("Try" and "Kool" were also in my top songs of the year on Wrapped). "Hit Like A Girl" was a single released in 2021, but quickly became my go to Meet Me @ The Altar track. As a dad to two daughters, the message was what stuck to me most.
"I'm tough, I'll save the world and won't even break a sweat; No bluff, I'm witty yeah I know how to use my head. Said I'm too loud, I should sit down; (No) I've got a lot to say. So what? I'm rowdy, yeah I hit like a girl"
#16 - Spiritbox, "Sun Killer"
youtube
I went on a trip to Southern California early in the year and got to see some good friends of mine. The husband is a musician, and I hold his opinions about music in pretty high regard. When I told him that I'd been listening through the entire Paramore catalogue, he put his hand on my shoulder, looked me dead in the eye, and said to me without an ounce of hesitation, "No, you should listen to Spiritbox".
So I listened through Eternal Blue and The Fear of Fear on the plane ride home. "Sun Killer" was the first track of theirs that I had ever heard, and I found the band's formation fascinating. Courtney LaPlante replaced the lead vocalist of iwrestledabearonce, married replacement guitarist Mike Stringer, and then both of them left to start their own band. What in the world. The track itself strikes a nice balance between the metal & electronic elements, with soaring vocals that don't end up feeling too theatrical. The breakdown at the end adds some heavy punctuation.
"Tell me the waves won't rise and monsters will fade with time; to temper the blaze, with a twist of a knife; a sun killer lullaby"
#15 - Land of Talk, "It's Okay"
youtube
This one hurts. The rawness in Elizabeth Powell's voice, the emotion and heartache, are nearly unbearable at times. Again, like I can feel every. single. word. I'd first heard of Land of Talk sometime in high school or into college, with their track "Some Are Lakes"; I'd gotten pretty deep into the Canadian Indie scene with bands like Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, and Broken Social Scene. It wasn't until this past summer that I finally gave the whole album a listen. "It's Okay" was the real standout for me, and ended up being one of those tracks that I came back to during my recap this week.
"Maybe when I die, I get to be a car; Driving in the night - lighting up the dark Something in your voice - it sparks a little hope; I'll wait up for that noise, Your voice becomes my home."
#14 - The Story So Far, "Clairvoyant"
youtube
Another one of those bands that I was too cool to like when they first started getting some attention. This track in particular was off of a split EP with Stick To Your Guns, though for some reason the artists have their own contributions to the EP uploaded separately on Spotify.
I love the guitar work on this track, and the honesty in the lyrics and vocal delivery. The minor drop into the chorus is a nice touch as well.
"I think you'll notice when things become different, the good vibes in our lives won't feel so consistent and less becomes more cuz the weight is too heavy: I swim in the water that's breaking your levee"
#13 - Fall Out Boy, "Thriller" feat. Jay-Z
youtube
I wanted to end part 1 on a high note, though honestly, I was a little hesitant to even include this track considering the allegations made against featured artist Jay-Z. I decided instead to simply acknowledge those accusations, and include a performance of the track without Jay-Z.
Much like Paramore and The Story So Far, Fall Out Boy got their start in a scene that I balked at for most of my teenage years and early adulthood. It hasn't been until recently that I've started embracing the genre for what it is, cheese and all. I didn't give From Under The Cork Tree a proper listen until I was well out of high school, and honestly, wanted nothing to do with Infinity On High. That said, this opening track from the aforementioned record absolutely slaps, and I can't wait to give it a playthrough. The wordplay & lyricism are insanely clever, and the heavier breakdowns are what I loved about tracks like "Sugar, We're Goin Down" and "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued". Maybe Fall Out Boy will be my 2025 scene binge.
"So long live the car crash hearts Cry on the couch, all the poets come to life Fix me in 45"
be on the lookout for parts 2 and 3, coming soon!

My Top 10 Albums of 2024
In this year i'm going to do something new, I'm not gonna rank the albums. This will include honorable mentions and EPs by the end so prepare for a long post
Green Day - Saviors
Tumblr media
The year started with one of my favorite punk rock bands of all time dropping an album that I already consider a classic. It seems like every time the American political landscape is looking grim, Bille Joe, Mike and Tré release something cool to make our life a little bit more bearable. This album however is not perfect, there are some hits and misses here and there but nevertheless it's a really solid Green Day record.
Favorites: The American Dream is Killing Me, Dilemma, Suzie Chapstick, Strange Days are Here to Stay
Twenty One Pilots - Clancy
Tumblr media
As someone who completely missed the SAI era of Twenty One Pilots, I was very pleasantly surprised when I listened to the singles for the first time. I mentally checked out from them after COVID happened but when Overcompensate dropped I felt like I need to check out the rest, and damn right I did. This record is more or less an homage to Trench, their most well-loved album by far. Many lovable singles and non-singles from two lovable dudes.
Favorites: Overcompensate, Next Semester, Routines in the Night, The Craving
Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
Tumblr media
Yeah I know, I used to hate on this band. Or I mean, hate is not the best word, more like I was indifferent when it comes to their music. But this year undoubtedly was one of their best and most successful one. This record is the definition of being pissed off. It's angry, pissed off at society, people, own thoughts, everything. The eery clean guitars, the hardcore breakdowns and the most pissed vocals ever recorded by man are all the reasons why this band is an acquired taste, but I finally found them like I would've found a religion.
Favorites: Don't Reach For Me, Suffocate, Slaughterhouse pt2, Blinding Faith
Imminence - The Black
Tumblr media
The best metalcore record of the year, straight up. It's pissed but it's very artistic and mellow at the same time making this whole album sound like a mix between European death metal and symphonic metal at times and American modern metalcore. The Black is amazing, I can only talk about it in superlatives, it's so good. The range from the sad and melancholic songs to the most heavy blast beats is insane and once again the swedish boys (especially Eddie) proved to be one of the most innovative bands of the scene right now.
Favorites: Come Hell or High Water, Heaven Shall Burn, Desolation, Death by A Thousand Cuts
Sum 41 - Heaven :x: Hell
Tumblr media
This is gonna be probably the most unpopular opinion on this list but I love this record. I love both the Heaven and the Hell side equally, they both sound nostalgic but not too obviously ripping off old songs, Deryck still got it when it comes to the vocal performances, in some songs he still sounds like he did when they recorded All Killer, No Filler. I'm glad they are able to go out on their own terms, without backstabbing and cancellations, after almost 30 years of putting out bangers, they absolutely deserve the retirement.
Favorites: Waiting On A Twist Of Faith, Landmines, Dopamine, How the End Begins
Bring Me The Horizon: POST HUMAN - NeX GEn
Tumblr media
Well, at the start of the year I didn't expect to have it but in May after a surprise drop, we got one of the most anticipated records of the past few years. After the end of the last year when the band announced Jordan's departure I was really bummed out and thought the album will never be ready. Multiple delays, preorder cancellations, and a fuckton of singles later, it was here. Oli clearly had a vision by involving all of the band again just like in the old days and the result was this j-metal inspired concoction that uncovers mental health issues unapologetically uncensored. Probably my favorite record of the year.
Favorites: Top 10 Statues That Cried Blood, n/A, LosT, Dig It
Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
Tumblr media
My go-to chill record of the year. It has immaculate vibes, chill production and the usual soft vocals by Billie. She (and her brother, Finneas) brought the chillest pop album of this year for me. I caught myself turning it up during home office and getting Birds Of A Feather stuck in my head for days. Especially the theremin part at the end that sounds like MGMT's Time To Pretend.
Favorites: Lunch, L'amour de ma vie, Birds Of A Feather, Chihiro
Bilmuri - American Motor Sports (420CC Edition)
Tumblr media
Time to go crank the hog. Bilmuri (Johnny Frank's post-Attack Attack solo band) has put themselves out by mixing metalcore and country the most random yet still fitting ways, It's the catchiest and most fun record I've heard this year and honestly I cannot even bring up any band that do it the same way as Johnny and the boys do (maybe with the exception of Electric Callboy).
Favorites: The End, Better Hell (Thicc Boi), Boutta Cachew, Blindsided
Poppy - Negative Spaces
Tumblr media
I've been loosely following Poppy since her unhinged youtube video days when I thought, maybe she was gonna end up being a basic e-girl and give up this super uncomfortable persona. Well, years later I got what was completely unexpected back then: an album that is completely herself, no persona, no hiding just her and her band making music she likes. Poppy is one of those artists that can do anything from bubblegum girlie pop (crystallized), to borderline black metal blastbeats (they're all around us) and Knocked Loose-like beatdown hardcore (the center's falling out). Amazingly creative work produced by the one and only Jordan Fish, whose work is obvious on the record.
Favorites: they're all around us, the cost of giving up, vital, push go
Linkin Park - From Zero
Tumblr media
If you want a longer review of this record, check it out from one of my latest posts. To make it short: LINKIN PARK ARE BACK. Emily, the new singer is a really talented vocalist who gave new life to the band. The band made conscious decisions to feel like it's still Linkin Park we're talking about and not some Dead Sara-copy. Mike's production on the whole album screams older eras of LP, and proves that you can come back From Zero even after decades of carrier and following a tragedy.
Favorites: Two Faced, Heavy Is The Crown, Good Things Go, Over Each Other
Honorable mentions:

Hi Tech!!! For the music ask game, 1, 9, 10, and/or 23 :D
hello fish!! thank you for the ask!! <3
also i’m doing two for all of these because i’m indecisive, want to talk about more music, and then i can do one pjsk/vocaloid related and one otherwise. and they’re in whack order because that’s the order i answered them in.
(also strap in, this got long lol)
★ 10: A song that makes you sad
▸ one more light - linkin park
just the fact that the whole message of the song seems to be “stay alive. there’s always someone out there that cares for you. *i* care for you.” but knowing the circumstances of chester bennington’s death, this song always hits me particularly hard.
▸ cinema - ayase (YOASOBI) - performed by vivid bad squad
right off the bat had to put cinema. the blorbo feels are real. every time i read the lyrics while listening to it i want to cry (or i do cry). akito shinonome what have you done to me. (told me there’s always hope is what he did. look at him. he gave me bittersweet hope.)
★ 23:A song that you think everybody should listen to
to me there’s two ways to read this prompt. “i think everybody should listen to this because i’m obsessed with it” and then there’s “i think this is a good song for everybody to listen to”
first option ▸ “ÅMARA (the great intelligence)” - sasakure.UK!!!!!!!
i have fallen in love with the otherworldly sound and the sci-fi/post-future visuals of the MV. also miku and kaito just sound beautiful. i do appreciate very realistic vsyth tuning, but i also really like when composers lean in to the inherent electronic sound to produce something that feels incomplete when sung by humans. however i would say the MV calls for a minor body horror warning and an eye contact warning!
second option ▸ “a symptom of being human” - shinedown
shinedown is a solidly “dad rock” band, but because of my dad it’s very special to me. also i am a huge sucker for any song that’s message is “we’re all human. we’re all a little weird, but we’re all still people.“ even if it’s a little cringe i still always love it. i think everyone feels at some point like they’re somehow different than everyone else, an alien, an outsider, broken somehow. so i love any song that says “that’s OK. we have differences. but we are all still humans, and we all deserve to find happiness and peace of mind because of that.”
★ 1: A song you like with a color in the title
▸ white rabbit - egypt central
gonna be honest, i don’t know anything else by this band. think this is kinda their one big hit
▸ close to gray / infinitely grey / kagirinaku haiiro e - surii - performed by nightcord at 25:00 / 25-ji, nightcord de.
shinonome siblings’ comms never miss let me tell you. they’re also literally both me. like i relate to ena in many ways. both shinonomes mean so much to me </3
★ 9: A song that makes you happy
▸ upside down - set it off
this song is like whatever the reverse of personification is for a silly little guy. it’s a little dumb and dorky but the stupidly upbeat protagonist never fails to make me smile because it’s so hilariously optimistic. i know a lot of set it off fans (at least the ones i know irl) prefer their heavier albums (and i’m really happy with the singles they’ve been putting out since they got away from that label) but upside down always feels to me like the band themself wanted to experiment more with making lighter music, rather than them being pushed that direction by the label (which i feel happened somewhat with elsewhere)
▸ wah wah world - giga and mitchie m - performed by hatsune miku, minori hanasato, and azusawa kohane
this song is also very silly and fun. it perfectly fits minori and kohane to me. two cute girls with a lot of determination and a bit of an “edgy” side! it’s also way better than sekai (the song). sorry but it’s true idk how it happened

Louis Tomlinson in New Jersey. Finally.
Alyssa Rasp | August 4, 2023
To any Louis Tomlinson fans, it’s not news that he has phenomenal music taste. Andrew Cushin, a singer-songwriter from across the pond in Newcastle, is no exception. Andrew joined Louis for almost the entirety of the North American leg of the Faith In The Future World Tour – and the fans loved him.
Last Friday, the tour stopped at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, New Jersey. A show that is basically on the beach? Who could complain? Andrew took to the stage in a pair of sunnies with a guitar in hand to the sound of 3,000 screaming fans. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a concert where the crowd shows as much love to the support acts as they do for the headliner, but after hearing Andrew play, I totally get why (and I missed that sound).
His voice is incredible with so much power and a beautiful tone. The narrative he is able to get across in his lyrics are one of the best parts of his music. New fans and old fans agree, because much of the audience knew every single word to his songs, including his latest single, “Wor Flags.”
Despite the 95º heat this night, the energy never dipped. The following act, supporting act Giant Rooks, were up next and brought the sound of Berlin to New Jersey. The alternative rock band were dancing all over the stage throughout their entire set and hyping up the crowd. Frontman Fred Rabe even showed off his percussion skills with a tambourine and floor tom in addition to his usual guitar.
Again, the fans who came out were showing so much love. They knew lyrics, had posters, and were dancing along even in the scorching weather. (It was the perfect set up for the headliner and their own single that dropped just a few days later: “Somebody Like You.”)
When Louis Tomlinson hit the stage, the crowd was electric. Many of his fans have been around since his early days in One Direction, but it was clear that a lot of the crowd were solo Louis fans through-and-through. Following his debut album Walls (which was one of our Top Albums of 2020), the English artist grew further into his own with the release of Faith In The Future. (This sophomore record of his also ranked on our year-end favorite albums, even with its late 2022 release date.) The singer-songwriter has officially found the rock sound that he has been striving for. I love it. We love it. The fans love it.
Full of big guitars and intense drums, his live show is insanely good and so much fun. His touring band is incredibly talented, but it’s no question that he surrounds himself with the best. Listening to the record before this night in Asbury Park and then hearing the songs in person, it’s clear that Louis wrote them for a live setting. Even with a pared down stage setting (this was the smallest stage he played on during this amphitheater run), he still put on an amazing show. It’s so obvious that this Brit-rock star loves performing.
Delivering reimagined rock versions of One Direction classics “Night Changes” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go?” on top of deep cuts of his own beloved originals, he made sure to pay homage to his single era of 2017 with “Back To You,” which featured Bebe Rexha. Those moments prove that his musical instincts are still there and are able to adapt to his current style while also showing love to fan favorites. Louis Tomlinson is truly an artist to keep an eye on if you’re not already. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to from start to finish. Although he’s off to tour the rest of the world after a short break, we are looking forward to the next time he’s back in town.

Most-Listened of June 2024
[last month]
June was a ridiculously exciting month of releases--I'd been so looking forward to the new Sunmi single, plus albums from Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, Kehlani, Raveena, and Red Velvet. And then I got surprised by comebacks from The Japanese House, Bol4, Nayeon, and Epik High! And apparently the Suho album is pretty good? And the cupcakKe one is, too? Naturally, though, I was overwhelmed by the excitement and didn't spend much time with those new releases, so this list consists of... none of the aforementioned comebacks. I'm still quite proud of my top 15, though, especially because I had a chance to catch up with some exciting releases from last month (which will be making an appearance here)!
I also got to see Lucy, an absolutely wonderful k-band I've been following since debut, in concert, and it left me with a post-concert high for like a week. (It made me super sensitive to sensory input for a week, too. Like, I couldn't listen to Repion for that whole week, because their harmonies were too powerful, they made my skin feel like it was exploding. I could also FEEL the collars of my t-shirts like ants on my neck oh my god I've never been like that before it was wild.) So what I'm saying was, it was a fantastic concert & left me with a lot of appreciation for how interesting music can be! (Which is probably why the list of five-star songs is so long this month...)
It doesn't make an appearance here, but if you're curious: my pride anthem this month was George Michael's "Freedom! '90". (This is my pride anthem every year, actually, but it just never gets old to me.) Honorable mention to Hayley Kiyoko + Kehlani's "What I Need", and I hope you had a great pride month!
1. 5D (Fifth Dimension) -- The Byrds
You know that U2 lyric that talks about "a song that made some sense out of the world"? Well, here's a song that made some sense out of my world. Like, is it super exciting? Not really. But it shifted something in my soul. It's a song about having enough, and it feels like having enough--that warm guitar, those high harmonies at the end... And the lyrics make me cry. It's a simple song, but it has the feeling of a warm shower on a snowy day stored somewhere inside it. "5D" is magical, and I don't regret a single one of the many times I replayed it this month. (Also, this completes another item on my music bucket list for 2024, which was to like a new Byrds song!)
2. S.O.S -- Taichu, Lali
Since "Top" and "Noche de Sateo" last year, I've been keeping an eye out for Taichu. They have so much charisma--if there's an 'it' factor to being a star, Taichu has it to the max. All this to say, I don't think I could stay away from "S.O.S" if I tried. I don't love it as much as "Noche de Sateo", but it's still fantastic--the beat is super aespacore, and Taichu's raspy "SOS / save your souls" is one of the most iconic lines of the year. (Spotify says they're saying save our souls, but I like my headcanon better, so...) I've been singing the chorus all month, too. I would 100% recommend checking this one out, if just for the spectacle of Taichu's first verse--they're such a skilled performer.
3. +82 -- Badvillain
I'm so happy to announce that I've finally connected with a fifth-gen group! Though I definitely enjoy "Super Shy" and "Melting Point" and a few other fifth-gen hits, I've been feeling a little like I'm missing out, since I just haven't gotten into any of the new groups everyone's been so excited about. But Badvillain? They're exactly my kind of group. They're a perfect amount of obnoxious, reminiscent of CLC, but with the sleek rapping of XG (another group I've been REALLY getting into lately) added on. I love the weirdness of this debut, the drama of it. (Purplekiss got my attention with "Ponzona", a similarly melodramatic dark-concept debut, and I stan them now, so...) I definitely don't think this debut will be for everyone, but I call it a victory for obnoxious girlpop. CLC may be gone, but Badvillain proves that their spirit is still with us!! "+82", a short b-side attached to Badvillain's debut single, was released with a performance video, and it's such a gem. And yes, it's super short--like, less than 2 minutes long--but it's so packed with explosive brass (think: Demi Lovato's "Confident" or "Tell Me You Love Me") and thundering bass that it feels much fuller than its runtime suggests. It's an instant shot of energy, like all the best girlpop is. Here's to hoping that I'll like their future comebacks, and maybe Badvillain will be the first fifth-gen group I stan!
4. Popper! -- Akrilla, Taichu
Yep, it's Taichu again! "S.O.S" was a little weird, a little industrial, but it definitely felt like a song; in contrast, I can't promise that "Popper!" is actually a song--it's more like ambient noise (ambient, if you live in a sci-fi dystopia) with a chorus that pops up occasionally. People say Itzy & Stray Kids make construction zone music, so I guess "Popper!" is kind of like POV: you're a brick in a building that is currently being destroyed with a wrecking ball. And to be clear, I love it--the layers of sound are absolutely captivating. I can appreciate that even though "Popper!" sounds like the sonic equivalent of throwing paint at the wall, it takes work to get production this pristine. I imagine that every detail had to be sooo carefully placed, all these strange, creative sounds carefully sculpted into a landscape with the appearance of chaos. The more I listen to this one, the more addicted I become--it's surprisingly listenable! (I think we can thank the ever-charismatic Taichu for that, but maybe that's just my bias talking.)
5. Cosmic Love -- Faux Paz
Here we have the sulking song of the month! I've loved this song for forever--it's actually one of the songs that got me into Faux Paz--but I was reminded of it when I heard the name of the new Red Velvet album. When I revisited "Cosmic Love", it kickstarted a craving that lasted well into July. This arrangement is Faux Paz at their strongest--the whole arrangement is dense and cushion-y, and the final chorus, in particular, makes use of the choir's wall of voices just so excellently. The soloist's voice is heart-wrenching, too. I have no idea where Faux Paz finds so many people who can belt the way their soloists do--or is it all one person? I have no idea, but they're fantastic. While we're talking about Faux Paz, I've also been obsessed with their cover of "Chandelier" this month!
6. New Me -- Flo Milli, Anycia
I wish I loved the new Flo Milli album more than I do--as someone who lives for her campy mean-girl aesthetic, I want to love all her music!! But as of now, I haven't really found much to latch onto from Fine Ho, Stay. (It's not bad at all, just nothing I've been obsessing over!) That being said, I have to give "New Me" some credit, because it has a lot going for it: a great beat, a great feature (WOMEN WITH DEEP VOICES APPRECIATION POST), and some great ad-libs (which are exactly as obnoxious as I expect from a Flo Milli song, of course). I can totally see someone else falling head-over-heels for this track, but I think I'll be going back to leaving "Not Friendly" and "Big Steppa" on repeat, instead. I'm definitely inspired to check out Anycia's new album, though--
7. Más Lejos -- Atalhos
The summer heat is really hitting now, so, as per my tradition, I'm bringing out the wistful indie rock. "Más Lejos" was one of my favorite releases last summer, and it's still just as infinitely listenable as it was last year. I was inspired to check out more stuff from Atalhos this month, too, and I'm really impressed! I'm SO hyped to listen to their album Em Busca Do Tempo Perdido, since I'm pretty sure it's a Proust reference?? That's so cool, I was not expecting Proust to show up on my Spotify.
8. you should see me in a crown -- Billie Eilish
My brother and I were talking about albums that we think would be on Best Albums of All Time lists fifty years from now, and I'm confident that a Billie Eilish album will be on there--whether it'll be When We All Fall Asleep or Happier Than Ever, I'm not sure, but definitely one of those! So anyway, that conversation inspired me to revisit When We All Fall Asleep, since I had only paid attention to its ballads before. And oh my GOD, "you should see me in a crown" is fantastic. I remember it being popular, but I don't think I ever gave it a proper listen back in 2019--I was missing out. That bass in the chorus, with those shuddering effects, feels like tectonic plates moving. This song has so much grandeur, and Billie Eilish's performance here makes me believe she's the earth itself, a natural disaster waiting to happen. This is even more impressive than I was expecting.
9. Virtual Angel -- ARTMS
This actually isn't my favorite song from the album, but I'm not surprised it's my most-listened. "Virtual Angel" has all the magic I expect from a Loona(ish) comeback--that fluttering instrumental, for one, doesn't feel like something a human could produce, so I'm quite convinced it's a gift from the angels.
10. Hide & Seek -- Pixy
After watching a video from Planet Minjae on YouTube, I was inspired to revisit some of my favorite fourth-gen discographies, and Pixy is one of those. These ladies have some fantastic b-sides, and the group as a whole is way too underrated. I love the Chosen Karma mini ("Falling" & "Whisper" oh my god oh my god oh my god), but I'd never fully appreciated "Hide & Seek" before this month. Pixy don't have the production budget to make this song as much of a masterpiece as it could be, but I can see the vision here--the tongue-in-cheek intro, the commitment to brass in the instrumental (chorus and verses?!!!?!?!!!), and that fantastic rap section. Everything about this song is ambitious, and it really should be a hit.
11. Ah Yeah -- EXID
I have a whole ramble in my journal about how this is the best girl crush song ever. (Yes, it's like technically the tail end of the sexy concept or whatever, but this is literally EXID doing Blackpink before Blackpink, so I'm calling it one of the mothers of girl crush. And it outdid them ALL. Just saying.) EXID has Mamamoo-level vocals + a 4minute attitude (I love you, LE); they're pure power, and "Ah Yeah" lets them give their all. And the way they control the song--those little moments of commanding the beat to a halt--is such a nice little touch that really elevates the girl power concept. This song isn't new to me, but I fell in love all over again this month!
12. The Killa -- TXT
When this album first came out, I listened to the first minute of "The Killa", was like oh look it's tinnitus again, and then I went and listened to "Tinnitus" instead. But I really underestimated this song! "The Killa" is hazy and distorted in a way that "Tinnitus" isn't--I find those weird, robot-y harmonies in the chorus so captivating. I love how the production here is so layered and creative, and I think this song will continue to age quite well.
13. Te Encontrei em SP -- Atalhos, Delfina Campos
Re: my Atalhos binge! This one isn't my favorite--it's so wispy and laid-back that it becomes kind of monotone--but that saxophone is wonderful. They really give the saxophone room to breathe in the instrumental, instead of relegating it to one short solo, and the fuzzed-out production is really interesting!
14. Armageddon -- Aespa
This chorus has been everywhere all month, and I'm more than happy to get caught up in the hype. Like, I can't stop craving the "imma get it dunnnnnnn" bit, and whenever I can finally get it out of my head, I hear a snippet of it on YouTube Shorts--and there, the craving is back. That crunchy production is exactly what I want in an Aespa song, too! I don't know if the Aespa ladies really do this song justice--their voices are gorgeous, don't get me wrong, I just think I would enjoy "Armageddon" more if their performances leaned more into its moodiness. So it's not my favorite Aespa song, but I'm happy to succumb to its popularity and spend a summer leaving it on repeat!
15. Boom -- Nmixx
Yeah fine I get it now. It's fantastic, whatever. Nmixx's album this year was super exciting and wonderful, whatever. (Look, Nmixx songs have a history of giving me headaches, headaches which I'm still a little bit bitter about. But I'll get over it eventually... the bitterness is hard to maintain, especially after "Passionfruit"...) "Boom" places a lot of pressure on its hooks--it's more like a highlight medley than a song--but that "tick tick tick tick boom boom" hook is surprisingly sturdy. The whole thing ends up feeling coherent in a way that is deeply confusing to me: how does it do that? What a masterpiece. Also, that glossy house section at the end is to die for!!
Five-Star Songs This Month
Butterfly Effect -- ARTMS
And here we have my favorite song from Dall. I've spent the month with the album, and this is the one that really sticks with me. That sonar-sounding vocal hook is just two notes, but it's ridiculously gorgeous.
Chokehold Cherry Python -- Ashnikko
Ashnikko has met her match with the aggressive guitar in this song. The combination of the two? It's like being struck by lightning. Also, their song "Deal With It" (with Kelis) probably isn't a five-star song, but it's SUCH a summer hit!! I've been listening to that one a bunch, too.
De Zombis -- Repion
Check out more of Repion's back catalog, they said. It'll be fun, they said. This song, the first track on Repion's first album, is such a way to debut. Like, it's painful how overwhelmingly beautiful it is. The vocals here are piercing--the front-and-center harmonies I love so much about Repion aren't something they grew into; apparently, this duo's vocals have been sending electric shocks through their music as long as they've been around. The roughness of this song's production brings a completely unique kind of intensity, too, something so different from their recent releases but in the same spirit--Repion knows how to make rock anthems that come straight for my heart.
Drug Free America -- Bleachers
A joke song with surprising longevity. Like, I appreciated the absurdity of this one right from the start, but I didn't expect to actually enjoy it as music. Here we are, though! The snappy comedy of the lyrics balances out the sonic soup of the vocal effects, and "Drug Free America" is full of fun lines that stay fun on repeat listens. Look, I've been obsessed with Bleachers for forever, now--I'm willing to indulge pretty much anything they put out, so this gets five stars and there's nothing you can do about it.
Mine -- Aespa
I think I tend to like Aespa most when they're ice-cold ("Illusion" is my favorite aespa song for a reason), and this song is right up my alley. I defer to @pocima's write-up on this one though, because she does "Mine" more justice than I could! [link]
Popper! -- Akriila, Taichu
S.O.S -- Taichu, Lali
Starburned and Unkissed -- Caroline Polachek
The I Saw the TV Glow soundtrack strikes again! After falling in love with yeule's "Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl" last month, I listened through the whole soundtrack album and zeroed in on this fascinating song. It's a hazy, ghostly scream, it's a ballad left out in the cold too long, iced over and sleeping in the snow and dreaming desperately of a home it may never see again. I don't know, it just hits. Both yeule & Caroline Polachek's contributions to this soundtrack are beautifully warped--I love how these songs find so much soul and emotion and life energy in decidedly unnatural sonic worlds.

Regarding that music reblog can u drop some music recommendations 🙏🙏🙏
ABSOLUTELY I LOVE THIS QUESTION the day has finally come when someone has asked me for music recs 🤞🤞 (i didn't know what to start with so ur gonna get a bunch of random artists i like)
also if anyone wants to ask for recs for anything at all (like books, fics, writers, etc.) pls ask!! i love sharing 🥳
beabadoobee — i love love love her new album this is how tomorrow goes, its 10/10 and every time she makes rock music adjacent she never fails to eat down and devour. my recs for her are beaches, take a bite, cologne, talk and ripples because they all have a sort of nostalgic vibe. like they're somehow so familiar even though you've never heard them before. i love beabadoobee she's so good at what she does.
hozier — okay i know he's lowkey middle aged woman core but his lyricism AND production are literally unmatched i get why the lesbians love him. I'd recommend dinner and diatribes, jackie and wilson, northern attitude (by noah kahan ft hozier), angel of small death and the codeine scene and movement 🙏 his music makes me absolutely ascend to a different plane of existence.
laufey — call me a basic asian all you want but laufey synthesises older jazz/classical sound with modern lyricism and structure and creates something so beautiful i love her so much and i regret missing out on her concert tickets every day. i love love love night light, must be love, let you break my heart again, dreamer and lovesick, all her instrumentals never miss. her songwriting is also top notch and gives young, dumb and in love energy ykwim 😍
taylor swift — HEAR ME OUT her new album specifically the anthology half of ttpd has like no skips and i will die on this hill. her older music is good too but i am here to talk about the anthology. the anthology has 10/10 songwriting and minimal production which makes the lyrics stand out more and i love it. i'd recommend the black dog, the prophecy, how did it end and peter because they make me want to scream and cry tbh. also good inspo for fic writing LOL
billie eilish — i have been a fan of hers since my emo phase in 2018 and i can confirm that finneas' production is genius. honestly i recommend the entirety of hit me hard and soft because it was meant to be listened to continuously with all the melodic motifs and lyrical motifs but yeah. also no time to die was a cultural shift that changed my brains hardwiring.
chase atlantic — okay wild 360 from billie eilish and soft ballads (and this artist has lowkey been ruined for me by a certain someone..) but they do have bangers 🎉 i love heaven and back, right here, die for me and dancer in the dark, their music is really sexual though so uh parental guidance 🤞
the neighbourhood — i love love love the vibe of their discography and even though their music might be counted as "tiktok" music because of some of their popular songs they're still so good. I recommend reflections, compass, devil's advocate and stargazing. introspective kinda vibes with their music yk.
the arctic monkeys — I LOVE THEM AND i regret not going to their tour every single hour. alex turner might be a grandpa but i love his accent in his songs and the production is literally liquid gold. pls listen to stop the world i wanna get off with you, snap out of it, fluorescent adolescent, you're so dark, one for the road, and honestly their entire AM album. It's their most popular for a good reason i fear.
i feel like i've rambled way too much but i do have more if you'd like. can you tell i'm a mainstream music kinda person with a couple less popular artists 😭😭 ANYWAY THANK YOU FOR ASKING I LOVE SHARING MUSIC AND DISCUSSING MUSIC ITS THAT INNER MUSIC NERD WITHIN ME if you'd like classical music recs however i'd be too scared to say anything at fear of invoking the wrath of my other classically trained musicians
