every day, i am cursed with the knowledge that only i can understand and appreciate the story of adam and eve in a far superior way to literally everyone else. alas, someone had to carry this burden.

Underrated characters or characters who have little to no information about them always become my favorite characters. Literally, Khameleon, Jerrod, and Harumi are on my favorite characters list.
(Kind of a sidenote). I don't talk about this at all, but I don't like how Nrs made Harumi be just scorpion's wife. As if that's her only purpose. Like, no matter the timeline or who scorpion is, she's just the wife. If you guys understand what Im trying to say. This is just my opinion.

Okay so it actually depends on whether the book is paperback or hardback.
For paperbacks I take a good five or so minutes preparing the spine so that I can open it as wide as I want without it cracking, with Hardcover books it's pretty easy, but I just take the dust jacket off and to keep my spot I either raw dog it (just close the book and try to remember the chapter/page I was on and surprisingly I can usually remember or at least get close) or I use magnetic book marks (I have a black cat collection of book marks and I love them and use them for everything) or a receipt if it's a library book. I use one of the paper flaps as a bookmark if the book is a hardcover simply because it's easiest.
I do annotate but only if I'm reading on an e-reader/my tablet OR this is a reread and I already know I love the book. If I don't enjoy a book I'm very quick to sell it or give it away so I don't want a book I don't like on my shelves but can't do anything about it because I scribbled all over it. For physical annotations I usually pick a pen, marker(s), highlighter(s) and tabs that either match the color scheme of the cover if I annotate for more than one thing or if it's a basic romance that I love and want to just automatically know where all my fav scenes and moments are it's just one color that is also based off of the cover (I hope that makes sense lmao).
wait tell me how you read books (eg. annotate in them, crack it, dogmark, proper bookmark, have a sheet of paper for thoughts, etc.) and i'll assign you a marauder character

Me: I really hate this character of mine, because he's basically a pedophile, but I need to use that childhood trauma to create the second lead's current personality, which leads to the climax at the end of book two. Without the trauma, he'd be a normal, boring person, not worth the role, and I feel so GUILTY for putting an innocent little boy through all this. My baby! 😭
15yo niece: oh, I researched a pedophile once. He was a serial killer.
Me: who was it?
15yo: John Wayne Gacy.
Me: EW. There's a special place in hell for that man. Don't read about him. Why are you reading about him?
15yo: he's the reason I hate clowns.
Me: HE'S THE REASON A LOT OF PEOPLE HATE CLOWNS! STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM! Let's talk about Ted Bundy instead.
15yo: ooh! I LOVE Ted Bundy!
Me: same, girlfriend. Do you know what's really creepy? I look just like his victims.
15yo: 😱😱😱
