WHO: providencepeakstarters (4/3) CLOSED WHERE: Bonfire Bash
She'd been looking forward to the comfort of her own bed, the soft pillows and fluffy blanket, after spending a week camping in the jungle in Cambodia but it seemed like her hometown had other plans for her. Having completely forgotten about the End of Summer Bonfire, she'd shown up at her parents' house just as they were leaving to join the festivities. Sure, the Cartwrights weren't planning on spending the night but you'd be hard pressed to find a town event that didn't have the two Texas transplants in attendance. Even if it was only for the s'mores. So Austin tagged along, catching up with her mom and dad for a few hours before breaking off to set up her own tent before beginning to search for people she hadn't seen since she'd been home for the holidays.
However, what should have been a simple twenty minute task tops, had Austin cursing out loud as one of the poles for the tent she'd borrowed from her parents house snapped, a piece of flimsy metal going flying. "Heads up!" She called out, standing to her full 5'4" height as she spoke in hopes it made her words more clear, before flopping back onto the ground with a huff. If she wanted to sleep on the ground she'd have stayed in Cambodia. At least there her tent was reliable. "Well looks like I'm taking sleeping under the stars literally tonight." She grumbled, mostly to herself, as she opened a beer and took a long drink from the bottle.
#event: bonfire bash#clearly my starter game is weak#but pls love me y'all#also i used way too many words pls know you don't have to match length

location — the bonfire bash of 2023.
character — @malloryhuitson
The raging fire that many surrounded wasn't the only chance he had of getting burned. He'd spotted the blonde the crowd a few minutes earlier and against his better judgement, he opted to approach. "You lost? Those big buildings you like are that way," he pointed out with a lifted beer bottle and tipsy grin. It was most certainly the beer running through his veins that had him braving the storm, but he wasn't nearly gone enough to tame the pounding of his heart. Had someone talked her into coming? It didn't matter. Even if the thought of one of those watchful goons having convinced her to come struck a nerve of jealousy within. "And here I thought the only thing you owned were heels."

Since running into Asher at the bar, he'd yet to see Sage for longer than a few minutes at a time, always with Maggie in tow. He wasn't angry at her for spilling her dirty laundry onto him, or that Asher had pieced it together and hadn't taken an issue in calling him out for it, but he figured the safest bet was to at least make sure they were all on the same messy page. "Knock, knock," he hummed at the edge of the woman's campsite, the partially open tent showing that she was at least alone this time. "She knows," he started, hands shoved in the front of his pockets to keep himself from fumbling. "I'm guessing you told her? She already knew that you'd told me, by the way. Guess the gigs up. Everyone knows I'm the best friend. You okay with that, or you need a beer to cope?"

"Hey," he called quietly, trying to capture the attention of the male closest to him. While he'd gone camping years ago with one of the families he'd stayed with, he'd never quite gotten the hang of making a quality s'mores. "Everyone keeps burning their marshmallows... is that how you're supposed to do it? I've never been much of a camper, but I can tell you that I've never scorched my marshmallow like everyone else is."

It was Emmy's flannel that she'd tied around her waist before walking out the front door and saying goodbye to her humble abode. She could count on one hand how many times she'd been camping, but no fingers would remain up when counting how many times she'd enjoyed it. Nature was pretty, but she recalled all too well how the last bonfire had gone. Was it guilt bubbling up in her chest once more, or was it the realization that every moment had led to this? "Seems like everyone is excited." Her gaze bounced between Emmy putting up their tent and so many others who were doing the same. "I can... help? Or I could stand and watch. I'm fine with either," she half teased with a small grin. The baker tugged at the arms of the flannel, tightening it around her waist in an attempt at keeping her hands busy.

"Don't tell anyone, but I put a reese's cup and a hershey bar in my s'mores." It was a sugar rush her father had taught her as a kid. He'd made a joke about not telling her mother, but the woman had always beamed a smile in their direction as the two of them made a mess with all the melted chocolate in between. "It's the best and only way to enjoy one if you ask me. And I don't believe in burning the marshmallow to a crisp. I know, I'm just full of unpopular opinions tonight. You want me to make you one? I promise, you won't regret it."

— characters: hana & sophia — setting: bonfire bash in bighorn hills — partner: @sophramirxz
Although her setup was more glamping than a tent, Hana was all setup, and none of it had been done on her own. It felt good and a little less awkward to give Khalil his space back. At least for a while.
Which included the woman across the hall.
It hadn't surprised the former model that her distant (and one of her most damaging) memory had well moved on with his life, not a single look back. Hana wasn't sure she would either if she had a girlfriend as gorgeous as Sophia. Though, the yoga instructor wasn't sure if there was a title, she simple assumed.
"If you two want to take my tent, that's fine," Hana offered, gesturing to the impressive setup. "The least I could do," there was a pause as her dark eyes searched those of Sophia's, "you know?"
Amongst the attendees she stood out like a sore thumb. One thing is not like the others. It didn't help that Hana wasn't at the top of her social game, still feeling jarred by the increase in harassment, with her gaze traveling about the entire scene like someone who felt watched.
Unsure how much Khalil had told Sophia, the words jumped right out of her, "it wasn't my idea, you know? I said no like three times."

— characters: silas & kat — setting: bonfire bash in bighorn hills — partner: @katerinadelarosa
After a dip in the lake and the sun beginning to fall down the horizon, Silas sat by the fire to dry up a bit before he finished getting redressed. It'd been a nice afternoon thus far and evening looked promising, but the fire, like always, seemed to captivate him a little bit.
"It's kinda mesmerizing, ain't it?"
It transported him to a time he much liked to forget and tried his damndest to leave far in the past, and usually he was far deeper into his alcohol than he was at the moment.
A few moments later Silas seemed to snap out of his trance and glanced at the familiar woman. Where had he seen her before? Or who with?
"You been in the water yet? It's pretty refreshing."

closed starter for eli falvey ! ( @elifalvey ) location ; bonfire bash !
The night wasn't winding down so much as Erol needed a break from the riotous festivities, at least for a few minutes. After a rush of kids and their parents crafting smores at the bonfire the area had cleared up to some extent and he'd quietly taken a seat with his guitar in his lap, picking out a song lazily. It was half muscle memory by that point but there was something equally relaxing about it. He'd have to work on spending more time playing— it was the last thought that occurred to him before he noticed someone nearby and smiled warmly. "I doubt it's drowning out this music much at all but I'm not bothering you, right? It seemed like a solid idea to bring my guitar tonight I haven't really been able to breathe until now."

Plopping down into the grass, Austin gave her rescuer her full attention as he explained his three tent pole day, a grin on her features as she did. Honestly, it all sounded like a fiasco she herself would get in to, which only made her laugh. "Okay but wait, the sword. Who was he fighting? Did he at least win?" She asked, eyebrows raised in amusement. "And honestly, I wouldn't feel too bad about the whole not being outdoorsy. Camping is practically part of my job description and you had to come to my rescue. Clearly we're all a little out of our elements or falling into some bad luck tonight." She shrugged with a smile. "But, at least there's alcohol to fix it all. Speaking of..." Reaching behind herself, she grabbed one of the beer bottles from her six pack and offered it out to him. "May I offer you a reward for coming to my rescue?" She mused. ( @tuncaycelik )
"Well," He starts, a breathiness to his tone. "the first one was snapped by my nephew, he was too busy using it as a sword to care that I would need it eventually but he's a toddler so the accountability falls on the adult in charge, happened to be me, therefore my fault. The second time and third times were due to the fact that I haven't been camping in a long time, in fact, when anybody would take me camping, they were always the ones to put up the tent - my ex-wife was the outdoorsy type, I've always been the indoorsy, over-working type so you can see where this goes - inexperience leads to mistakes, two of them." Tuncay grins, laughing along with her.
"The alcohol didn't help either." @austin-cartwright

WHO: @atlaswilliams WHERE: End of Summer Bonfire Bash, Bighorn Hills
After seeing her parents there was only a handful of people Austin felt like she needed to see before she could truly say she was home and Atlas was one of them. In truth, Atlas was probably at the top of the list. So she'd set off into the crowd around the lake to look for him, six pack of beer in one hand and an open bottle in the other, knowing there was no way one of her best friends wasn't attending the festivities.
It only took her fifteen minutes of looking to spot his tall frame among the crowd, a grin forming on her features as she made her way through the crowd towards him, only stopping when she was standing by his side. "You think we can push someone sleeping on an air mattress out into the lake while they're sleeping like in The Parent Trap?" She asked, nudging him with her elbow playfully as she looked out at aforementioned lake and took a sip of her beer. "I think people will be drunk enough to be passed out to the point they don't wake up, don't you?"

"What did you think about the music? Didn't think they'd have a little something for everyone, but guess they know what they're doing. It's my first time at one of these. You ever been before?" He'd fell into stride with a woman he'd yet to meet within the city of Providence Peak, but the beer had him feeling a bit more openly friendly than usual. "Seems like this place always has something going on. It's not a bad thing... just a new thing for me, I guess. Max, by the way," he offered with a chin tilt of acknowledgment down at her.

"If you're comin' over to bust my balls, save your breath. Good vibes only tonight and I didn't make the rules," he teased before a pull from his beer. He'd packed a single six pack for the night, along with a pint of whiskey, but he wasn't sure that the latter would be touched. After all, he was looking to set a record for this being the first bonfire he didn't whip out his six string around the campfire. He'd leave it to someone with far more talent than him. "You want a beer? I've got a whopping five left, but I'll share if you play nice."

location — the bonfire bash of 2023.
character — @hcnayun
With no progress having been made thus far, tensions were high. Somewhere in the world, some asshole was winning the game of cat and mouse. For one night and one night only, it was the last thing he wanted to think about, just as he wanted it to be the last thing on her mind too. They could have their fun without a storm cloud of worry lingering over them. "Look, I don't want to hover, but if you need me, just text me. I've got my phone on me." As much as he wanted to believe that everything would run smoothly for one night, he knew better than to be so confident in such belief. "I've also got a decent collection of liquor in a cooler if you're interested." In the distance, music could be heard, drawing in everyone around like a siren's call. "Your call, but if it were up to me, I'd like to have a drink or two?"

Camping wasn't her favorite, but if it made her wife happy, she was going to give her best attempt and while doing so, she wasn't going to do it alone. She'd all but begged (okay, maybe she'd begged too) for the model turned businesswoman to show up too. It'll be fun, she'd promised. And it would be, minus the fact that this year, she wouldn't be catching an Uber back to her place at the end of the night after all the fun had wrapped up. Instead, she'd be crawling into a tent. One that wasn't nearly as luxurious as she'd liked. "Is that a new outfit? Cute," she complimented, a brow arched as scanned over her own fit. She'd gone with cut off jean shorts, a cropped top, and a flannel tied around her waist that she'd stolen from Emmy earlier in the day. "Did you bring bug spray? I have some extra at the tent if you want? I've also got sweets and a cooler full of cokes and a fifth of rum. All of which I'm willing to share."

location — the bonfire bash of 2023.
character — @emersonhart
It had been a couple of weeks now and no owner had turned up for their feline friend, which meant that she still had a companion bouncing around her cabin. It was all thanks to her mother that she even felt comfortable enough to leave him alone for the night, even as self-sufficient as he seemed, it seemed neglectful to leave him all by himself. "So," she hummed, more to herself as she neared the redhead she'd come to know as Emerson. A gentle shoulder tap was offered and when she turned to face her, Parker beamed a wide smile. "In case you were wondering, no one has claimed him yet, but he's doing well. I just thought you would want to know."
