Platonic relationships, I feel like, are so underutilized in fiction and even more so in fan spaces. They're always put on the wayside in fan works, more commonly as a "last resort" when it comes to shipping. Like, romantic/sexual relationships always take first priority. Which isn't a bad thing, not at all! I just feel like they can be used more when it comes to talking about complex characters or ships that have a lot of discourse.

The whole concept of "this is someone I love and means the world to me" without the need for it to romantic is such a beautiful thing. Hell, platonic soulmates is sometimes done even better then just plain soulmates because it requires more build up. More understanding of one another beyond just attraction. You can love someone with all of your heart without having to be attracted to them. It's the companionship, the sustainability the "if I've got no one at least I have them" that makes them so special.

No characters pussyfooting around each other out of fear that they'll lose the other. They don't have to be around each other because the plot demands it or they're already dating. they just simply...enjoy it. They're there because they want to be. They fulfill a role in each other's life other than partner/husband/or wife.

In every lifetime they'll find each other. Because that's just what they do. They annoy each other, they always find each other first in a room full of people, they make their existence so much more important and their universe so much brighter. Why?

Because they're best friends. And they love each other.

Idk there's just so much you could do with that and I wish it was explored more. Like please! Write about them being buddies, write about one taking on a parental or sibling role in the others life, write about them annoying the absolute shit out of each other! Sometimes the lines blur on what is and what isn't romantic/platonic, but that's what makes it interesting! Depending on who they are, they can be comfortable with touch and still just be friends, or the opposite and still be friends. You know?

This isn't to discredit romantic/sexual ships in the slightest. It's just me wanting there to be more than just that. Cus don't get me wrong, I love them just as much as everyone else. I just thing it's a sweet dynamic to write about and check out. And for me, it simply fits better depending on the character and their relationship :3

I had this issue w Spotify for a while where it kept pausing my music if I repeated a song more than 3-5 times. Like even if it was a playlist it wouldn't do continuous play. So I contacted them. Customer service said someone else got access to my account and was interfering with it, but I never saw any suspicious activity on the account. It was all my own stuff going on. I think they blacklisted my ability to repeat songs because ngl my listening habits look extremely suspicious in general. Like what man alive needs to be doing this shit:

No but I think it also definitely relates to how "straight male culture" IRL is so... homoerotic in many aspects, often because of the same reasons (i.e. they're obsessed with how other men perceive them, and women are just kind of seen as objects to obtain in order to please other men) ANYWAY I obviously don't want to go too deep into that or else I might start getting weird ppl crawling all over my blog HAHA!

Also there's something to be said for the fact that "we" as a queer audience are doing a LOT of heavy lifting in these cases. Often because it's a genuinely more interesting interpretation, or just more fun lmfao. I don't have a lot of faith in most shonen authors to do any of that shit intentionally, because, well, they're shonen authors. 😭

Ahkjdfasfd Scourge would be furious and outraged. Sonic how can you let Rosy into this dimension!!!! Aren't you worried she'll be a bad influence on Super? Do you want him to turn murderous again, because that's what Rosy will do.

Sonic, of course, would find this fucking hilarious (once he realises Scourge was not the one to let her into his dimension, just because he let Scourge in doesn't mean he's chill with lookalikes of all his friends running around in his dimension) and do absolutely nothing to help. If she posed a genuine threat to Scourge he'd probably step in, but until then, he's gonna sit back and watch the show. He is questioning how the fuck she got in this dimension, though

The good news for Scourge is Super will probably keep her away from him, because the further away she is from Scourge, the further away Super is from Sonic, and he is not exactly eager to be around Sonic at all if he can help it

Gonna write down my Fairy Tail ship headcanons to organize it:

NaLucy = I'd die for them. Natsu's a flavour of arromantic, though; I feel like he doesn't differentiate platonic from romantic attraction. He'd be in a queerplatonic relationship with Lucy.

Lucy/Cana/Flair = my femmeslash OT3 option. Lucy would make them go well, because she's Cana's bestie and she's the reason Flair got a 2nd chance... there's enough conflict in it. It could work out as Cana and Flair dating Lucy, or them beginning like that and ending up all three dating each other ☝️🤓

I know Lucy's great friends with Levy and Erza (and Juvia, and Brandish), but I'd rather they keep at it than read a fic where they're dating. Same with GrayLu and GratSu. I get the appeal! It makes sense! Doesn't thrill me, though. They're besties 🫵
