I started reading the severance au and i love it a lot, i love your writing style, but ive never seen severance and i feel like maybe id enjoy a lot more if i actually had the reference so uhm if you have any suggestions of like moments i should look up or smth pls tell me 😓

in short, severance is about a corporation that offers a procedure that splits the consciousness of its employees using a chip in their brain. when they’re in the outside world, they resume life as normal as “outies”, with their memories up to that point. but when they’re at work, the chip switches them over to a different “innie” consciousness that only exists in a specific place. this other consciousness only remembers what happens to it when the chip is activated, and has none of the outside personality’s memories. they’re essentially “born” one day at their workplace and have to learn on the fly how to survive in that context and what’s expected of them.

in my fic, the place where the innies manifest is a subterranean floor underneath the bell center, complete with ice rink and other facilities (don’t think about the logistics too hard). so any time marty goes down the elevator to that level of the building, his consciousness goes dormant for a while and martin (i separate marty from his innie as a character by referring to him only by his full name) takes the wheel. martin does not know anything about marty and has no idea what his motivations are for severing himself. severed players have their outie’s names hidden from them, and go only by their jersey numbers. the only reason they let martin know his name and had him stop going by “26” is because he’s a coach now, and they need for him to have a status symbol over the player innies that he’s supposed to be directing. he’s the only innie with a name besides his jersey number. monty’s innie is named 35, doby’s is named 75, cole’s was 22 before it was changed to 13 without his consent, etc..

to better understand the show references i’m making in the first chapter, i recommend watching these clips:

in this, the characters featured are innies. normally innies are tasked with waking up other innies using an new employee orientation book. the point is to ask them questions including “who are you?”, “name a US state”, “what are is the color of your mother’s eyes” to test that they really don’t remember who they are. because martin was already oriented as a player and this is not his first time waking up, his orientation was done by a lumon employee who skipped the vast majority of the contents when martin proved right off the bat that he did not remember anything other than his memories as an innie with Tampa Bay.

this scene illustrates how the chip turns off and on depending on where the person is located. when inside the severed floor, helly does not remember her memories of outside or why she’s there. when she enters the stairwell, she shifts into her outie, who has all of her usual memories. i show this at the end of the first scene, when 26/martin goes down the elevator screaming and banging his fists. by the time he gets to the top floor he’s marty st. louis again, and has no idea why he was just punching the doors hard enough to make himself bleed.

this scene illustrates how innies are punished by lumon for disobedience. they can’t be injured physically, because their outies can’t be asking questions about where bruises or scars came from, so they’re subjected to psychological torture. this scene also shows how the innies experience every day as a continual loop— the don’t have a clear delineation from day to day besides trips to the elevators, and because they’re at work during the day they never get the chance to sleep. the outies sleep for them. the outies are generally oblivious to how the innies are treated, and are told by lumon that they’re essentially a simple-minded version of themselves that doesn’t mind being forced to do their jobs for them all day. pro hockey players generally elect to sever because they think it’s the only way they’ll ever be allowed into the league— lumon target short guys, marginal talents, and dudes with mental health problems or injuries most heavily. they have a high incentive to not think too hard about what their innies might be going through.

the innies are basically the same people as their outies, but without memory to form an identity around. because of that there are some differences in personality. martin is more depressed than marty obviously, but also more weak-willed and submissive. he feels a lot of contempt with himself for that because it goes against his innate personality, which is to be tenacious, confident, and willful like marty is on the outside. a lot of the fic is going to be about the innies getting back in touch with the parts of themselves that have been suppressed.

sorry this is kind of long, i decided to use this as a springboard to make a primer of sorts for the fic for people who haven’t seen the show, i can see how it would be confusing otherwise lol

Hello hello!! A friend and I were actually just talking somewhat about this the other day! <3 personally I feel like all of the love and attention T.O.P has been getting is absolutely amazing! He’s a sweet amazing guy and it’s easy to love him🥰💕 I feel like with everything he’s had to go through, he deserves all of the love and support he’s been getting towards his acting roles and music 🫶 but I do wish new fans would also notice the others in BigBang as much as they do T.O.P, while I 100% believe top deserves all of the love and support I also feel like the other three boys deserve the same amount especially with all of the hard work they’ve been doing with Home sweet home, their MAMA performance, Ji-Yong getting on Korea’s vogue magazine <3 I don’t think anybody should take any love or support away from T.O.P, but I do wish they’d share the love with Ji-Yong, Dae-Sung, and Tae-Yang 💕 As for the older fans and newer fans situation I’ve noticed going on, I understand it but I also don’t. While I understand their frustration, because from what I’ve seen around TikTok and Tumblr, newer fans have started a lot of rumors and false narratives about T.O.P, and getting the Thanos character and him mixed together with their backstories and personalities, often not even learning T.O.P stage name or real name, just choosing to call him Thanos and only seeing him as the character, not the sweet, funny, caring, shy guy that he is . That and something I don’t really ever like seeing that makes me feel extremely uncomfortable is a lot of people on TikTok have been taking the media clips of T.O.P leaving the hospital for thanos edits which just rubs me the wrong way. It was a dark time in his life, and the media being up his ass like that and the apology, all of it makes me uncomfortable, that man was hurting and desperate for a way out and instead of helping him, the media just made everything worse for him during it all. I don’t know if it’s just my own history with that kind of stuff or what, but it was just wrong that it ever happened in the first place instead of just letting the poor guy process what feelings he had :/ so I know for older fans it’s been upsetting a lot over seeing those clips resurface for silly edits on an app. What I don’t understand is why some older fans on here claim T.O.P would hate his new fans, etc, I don’t believe that he would, would he probably be just as uncomfortable seeing those certain edits of himself and the way some newer fans talk about him? Most likely 100% I know I would be, but who knows? None of us fans are T.O.P. He just wants to live his life the best he can while moving on from his past, so personally I feel like new and old fans need to respect that, new fans need to respect his past is his past and if he wants to move on from and and not talk about it then they shouldn’t be making 100s of disturbing edits including his hospital discharge clips for ‘hot’ edits of him, plus realizing that T.O.P is a human with feelings, not just a person on the internet who they are allowed to sexual 24/7 without ever wanting to learn about who he really is :/ and older fans need to realize, T.O.P is okay, they don’t need to fight day and night to protect him anymore, most new fans have the same love they do for him, even if that love is newer, they need to accept that T.O.P and BigBang will always have new people finding their music for the first time and falling in love with it <3

maybe thats why we barely had any new content for so long. ive been an MCU fan since 2021 and when i tell you ive never felt so emotionally impacted by a movie in awhile, like since gotg vol 3 which is nearing it’s 2 year anniversary, i truly mean it oh my god this movie was beautiful

i feel like they did an amazing job with handling themes of mental heath and how it can really affect someone and how we just need someone to help us with our way to recovery … just so beautiful.

also i LOVE movies that go back into the past with their future self and try to change it knowing they cant… yelena’s moments when she eas going back through her childhood had me in TEARS because not only do we get more detail on what happened in the red room, we also get to see what SHE experienced in the red room specifically, not through natasha. and then the scene with alexi and her?! yelena feeling like she was never good enough but alexi reminding her that it was never her fault UGH I WAS CRYINGGGG

this whole movie felt like a trauma dump in the best way possible. i felt SO good but so bad for all of thw characters, specially bob, as we learn more about them. i also love how this movie is KEY on detail… in the beginning where we saw yelena in the science room thing, you can SEE the shadows on the window that sentry left behind and then towards the end, we see WHY those shadows were there… the scene with yelena and anja is also another example because you can see yelena behind the trees in that first clip, but when we see her get sucked into the shadows, we see WHY she was behind the trees … i love this movie im sick…

however i do wish we got more details on ava/ghost or the red guardian even tho we did already get a backstory ofc in antman but ykwim 💔💔 PLUS MARVEL DID TANKMASTER FUCKING DIRTY ILL NEVER FORGIVE MARVEL! 🙁🙁

my ultimate comfort show is friends. I've seen every episode a billion times, but it still makes me laugh and I still feel like I'm watching it for the first time. it's nostalgic and it just feels like home. I would like if there was more diversity tho..

i love how I met your mother (except for that awful ending). its so comforting and the show discusses real problems that young adults face like unemployment, divorce, infertility, losing a parent etc. characters go through real problems that real people face.

heartstopper obviously. again, I feel like I'm mentioning a lot of comfort shows rather than genuinly good shows but heartstopper is just.. so perfect. it is a bit cringe at times but teenagers are actually like that. everyone in that friend group is so loyal and kind and there's no drama and overall toxicness you'd find in most netflix shows like riverdale, elite etc. and I feel like this is one of the first shows I've seen with good queer representation. the paris squad remind me a lot of my friends and I, and we actually watched the show together. and we're gonna binge all of s3 and then talk about it (it's gotten to be a bit of a tradition)

id like to say that I love the owl house, even though I've never officially seen it. I've watched a lot of clips of it on YouTube and I know what happens and whenever I feel stressed or overwhelmed with school work, I'd watch like a 40 minute video of lumity. and I also relate to luz noceda on a personal level. I found out about this show only last year, when it was on it's final season and I was 16. I wish my 12 year old self watched it, because she would have LOVED the owl house and found comfort in this show. watching the owl house at 16 and 17 for the first time shocked me because I felt like my 11 and 12 year old self had come to life (and btw we even look really similar so there's that..). I just started watching Hilda and it's a lot like the owl house and Hilda reminds me of myself too, so idk. they're both really great shows

and lastly i'd probably have to go with stranger things. I love the gravity falls-dark suburban-fall vibe the first two seasons had. season three was really fun, but I didn't like the fourth that much. I also hate how it takes so long for each season to come out. again, I related to robin a lot and I love to play DND with some of my new friends. I started watching stranger things when I was around 11 with my old friends and I remember collaborating on pinterst boards and stuff, so that was fun. i'm going to watch the last season with them too.

ive seen a bunch of episodes of doctor who and some clips on YouTube and I love that. I need to properly sit down and watch Dr. who

superwholock in general is great, but I don't really feel like mentioning spn and Sherlock because of all the queerbating and homophobia surrounding the shows. (sherlock's amazing though)

i should also probably mention derry girls. this show is literally a love letter to the 90s. I guess anyone who grew up in a middle class housegold in the county could relate to this (my mom definitely does). like heartstopper, it's one of those shows that portray teenagers as they are. Heartstopper deals with mental health and self harming, while derry girls is a lot lighter. the characters are so quirky and loveable. and while I was born in 2007, it feels really nostalgic. and it has one of the best soundtracks I've seen in a show. (the best 90s indie like sixpence none the richer and the cranberries so yay)

i know you asked for five, but one day at a time is SUCH an amazing show too. it's about a latina family (grandma, mom, daughter and son) and it's so funny and really informative and just an overall fun family sitcom, but it doesn't shy away from dealing with important issues like racism, immigrant families, growing up in a three generational household, raising a teenager daughter who's a lesbian, being a military nurse and the trauma you have to deal with afterwards etc. elena is a lesbian and she's so nerdy and I just love her so much <333

lastly, probably gilmore girls. it becomes shit after about season 4 and you'll get annoyed by the characters but the first few seasons are really good. it's really cozy and I feel like all the shows that I've mentioned have a similar theme (cozy, autumnal type stuff) and this list wouldn't be complete without gilmore girls.

Okay so i'm being so fr modern au was a divine revelation recently but here are my delusions before the translations drop because i just. Yeah. I have delusions. I have thrown out almost everything from the official au this is MY delusions only.

Oz: I think no one actually knows why he's famous. He's so deeply ingrained in a particular community that even if he killed a man his chat would be giving him pointers on cleaning up the evidence. He's probably a formerly-faceless souls speedrunner that slowly started speaking on stream and then decide fuck it and took a go pro out into the wilds of fuck all to show chat some cool plants and bugs and now he just does whatever and chat has to put up with. People (me) were really mad that he was hot when he finally revealed his face.

Arthur: Student life vlogger. Unoriginal i know but he got binaural mic and has a really nice sounding keyboard. Very calm streams/vlogs but sometimes he rages on twitter when his classes are kicking his ass. It's kind of an open secret that he lives with oz and arthur's chat begs to see oz just living his life because online presence oz is just weird and people were really confused when they realized oz has to eat. The way all this came to light was arthur brought him food and scolded him for streaming so long while oz was live.

Cain: Someone on the JP side said this happened to him and it totally did. He has to beg chat to stop sending him money. Sometimes it works. Kind of like oz, he got popular for a specific game but then people realized he's literally the perfect man and now he just kind of streams whatever. He still streams his og, probably a battle royale pvp, but he also pours a lot of time into cozy games. He's the male streamer that all the otome games sponsor because he's got a pretty decent sized female fanbase. Clip farms all october with horror games. No one is mad about this his reactions are funny asf.

Riquet: As funny as it would be to assign him theology for lols i genuinely believe that this kid would unironically slay at theology and religious history. Mithra: Gap moe. In my headcanon (delusion) he's a counterculture model but he hops on twitch and streams stardew valley for nine hours. Sometimes he gets forced to play battle royales and he's the guy that ggs in the chat and gets flamed. Is he good at them? Good question. He streams in the middle of the night tho. Bradley: Look i know he's an actor but it would be so fucking funny if he was a pro esports player but in his free time he plays minecraft and talks about heists. Has crashed cameoed in nero Nelly's streams enough that there's a lot of rumors about them but he always brushes it off saying that he just crashes because the food's good. Bradley's tweets are the funniest thing ever, please go look them up

Faust: Longform history and literature videos. No i am not biased what could possibly make you say that. Not just because i will give my beautiful wife my favorite subject but also because it suits him. Responds to people's comments super thoughtfully just all around very sweet and cozy. When a troll shows up a switch goes off and suddenly he is cooking the most devastating insults known to mankind while he publicly executes them on stream.

Heathcliff: Lifestyle and culture!! Frequent collaborator, he organizes trips and tailors itineraries to whoever he's working with. Well-loved. He works with Faust and Arthur a lot because their temperaments and content work well together, but he'll try and make things work for anyone. Pvp sleeper build. No one knows where he acquired these skills.

Shino: Guy with a smartphone camera shows you around nature. That's it. Picks up bugs and things with his bare ass hands and gets the camera reaaaal nice and close. Teases chat when they get squeamish over bugs or snakes or the like.

Nero: Okay cheating with this one but anonymous food content creator nero is literally so perfect. There were some accidental slips ups with reflections and his face, and his hair is pretty distinct but everyone just agrees to pretend they dont notice when they see him in public.

Shylock: No one knows where he finds these fucking restaurants. At some point you'd think he runs out of places, runs out of wines. No. This bitch keeps going down shady ass alleyways and finding new spots. Started off by filming how he keeps his own bar but people begged him long enough to see more about the kinds of places he visits.

Murr: Sporadic uploader. Bro will disappear for literal months on end, and then show up with a documentary about whatever he was doing, fully edited and narrated. These documentary releases will drop with whatever publications he makes. This fucking guy will make multiple scientific breakthroughs, invent entirely new fields, and build an aircraft for funsies while he's at it, film and direct the whole thing and then disappear for the better part of a year again.

Chloe: Fashion influencer !!!! There is literally no other option. Moonights as a nail tech. If he's at an event and one of the girlies pulls up like hey chloe i need a set or whatever he'll fucking do it !!! and he'll slay it !!! Films process videos on his original pieces and likes making both haul videos as well as fashion history stuff.

Rustica: He's a vocaloid producer obviously. Every once in a while, though, he'll drop a classical composition that just blows everyone out of the water. His media presence is kind of like Eve with the other utaite. Kind of seisou and wholesome. Sometimes he'll drop the dirtiest joke or innuendo though, and his entire fanbase just explodes over it and he's just :D like nothing happened.

Figaro: Okay HUGE fan of what the event actually has going on. Guy that is so deeply ingrained in the industry. Any attempts to cancel him are unsuccessful even though he's shady as shit. Fucking sucks at social media. He's kind of a slut.

Rutile: Obviously an artist. umineko ep 1 impressions

i liek never rlly successfully text post on here. but since i keep fan art and vgm on here i thought i might as well track my progress on this million word 100 hour visual novel JOURNEY to look back on later. obv spoilers for the first episode and its tea party and ??? segment.

for the most part, what drew me into umineko was atmosphere and that amazing ost and ive watched little out of context vids on the game just to get a taste cuz im just rlly into it. im so glad i chose Umineko Project over 07th mod for my first pt since just small things like the rain effects and the lip synching add so so much. the Experience of Umineko just has really nice levels to it. Ive listened to goldenslaughterer like a million times just from that one erika furudo clip and it didnt lose a bit of its power when i heard it for the first time in the scene at the garden shed and it made that whole scene just so exciting after literal hours of shifting from light playful scenes with the cousins and tense scenes with the ushiromiya siblings, building upon both heavily only for both sides of the family to just come crashing down in one morning.

speaking of the cousins i feel like theyre by far the most fun characters to hang out with outside of maybe eva and natsuhi reading the fuck out of each other. i have a long history of immediately gravitating to my cousins during family get togethers and its really nice to see they more or less keep their camaraderie through the events of the first episode except for maria but like. lmao. also seeing the cousin's varied reactions to their parents deaths hits kinda close as someone who has a really strained relationship with theirs. how grief manifests differently for each of them based on the trauma and issues they have with their parents is so interesting to see and i feel like a lot of games dont really explore this besides the kids feeling generally sad abt it, and im super excited to see the inner workings of this family laid bare.

that also includes the parents as siblings too cuz even tho theyre all kinda fuckheads in their own way, theres some real truth to how their upbringing kinda ruined all their relationships and potentially their outlooks on life. and even tho krauss is the most outwardly fucked up most of the time, rosa is Super sinister to me just being a character whos at the lower end of a power dynamic but still having responsibilities as a mother. of course we know how she mistreats maria and it would be nice to see rosa like admit that her issues with maria are somewhat her fault, but it would also be nice to see rosa begin the path of redemption and like ive seen clips of her with the rifle in one of the episodes so im sure itll be somewhere hopefully. at the very least i like the inlaws a lot too, hideyoshis nice, kyrie is super cool and the irony of her "flip the chessboard" outlook not being used before krauss could turn the tables on his other siblings earlier, because rudolf wouldnt let her talk, is not lost on me, and i was unsure abt natsuhi at first and she def still has issues but she really grew on me by the end after she had sorta made up with jessica, especially the scene where she accepted the charm from her daughter. again i gravitated toward jessica from the start and her experience feels like the richie rich version of how i was in high school, and her and her mother have a lot to sort out with each other, but the gesture and the fact that they both at least tried starting to make things better was just. so sweet. as for other characters, i rlly like kanon and shannon, the other servants besides like the chef guy are cool and kinzos funny as hell (love that in the UP translation he calls jessica fucking ILLITERATE for being a c student. like damn girl me too). again i cant wait to see how everything pans eventually pans out.

this is just a tentative ranking for the characters ive seen so far. i maybe coulda put george one rank lower idk, even tho ive seen hate for him, i just kinda like him. hes good with kids and the scenes where he lost his loved ones were touching. and like yea his relationship with shannon from a power dynamics perspective isnt great but i feel like it was kinda fraught to being with anyways.

for the plot i admittedly dont have a ton of ideas so far. ive never been one to make crazy predictions on stories as i was experiencing them. and im trying to here which is why im writing everything out. but, with my previous exposure to the game being crazy out of context clips, it makes the main conflict of the first episode being the issue of an 19th person and the reality of magic kinda weird considering. all the shit ive seen. with witches. and is anticipating crazy shit. i rlly didnt know what to think until the tea party and the ??? segment which did elucidate things. guessing that going forward, instead of having to reckon with the presence of magic, battler is gonna keep his strong stance against the "magical/fantastical/etc" and that he and beatrice will be diametrically opposed, considering i also know how they end up in debates later on and stuff like that. bernkastel in the ??? segment also explains how beatrice is more of a metaphor of an abstract concept rather than a person which also makes things kinda simpler in my head. and i know about the metanarrative aspects too (clocking all the detective literature references) so im prob gonna hold off until i see a bit more of it to make any crazy predictions. i mostly just wanna see new perspectives on some of the weirder happenings like the tool shed murders and the chain locked room, why natsuhi shot herself, how the key to the gold was even located so that the first six could be chosen and everything else. super excited to jump back in with episode 2, even tho the previous episode felt like it took eons to get thru, and i cant wait to see how everything changed over the course of this game.

spent about an hour looking for a jrpg i played in my childhood and i think i found it.... im pretty sure its Lunar Dragon Song, which according to the internet, is apparently one of the worst jrpgs ever designed LMFAOOOOO like u cant target enemies in battles, running on the map depletes hp, and to escape battles you have to BLOW INTO THE MICROPHONE... and most importantly (to me, cuz this is the only thing i remember), battles are sooo slow that the game itself gives you an autobattle feature that comes with 2x and 3x speedup options. and while its still possible that this isnt the game from my childhood, bc a lot of the ui designs and maps and stuff isnt really jogging anything in my memory, its the closest game i found that resembles what i remember. my core memory of this game is having a battle (dont remember if it was a boss or not, probably a boss), turning on autobattle as usual, watching it play out with my sibling, our mom calling us to have dinner so we leave the autoplay running under keyboard piano in the living room, we finish having dinner, check on the game, and the battle is still going on wsdfjsdkfljls 😭

and also even tho other elements of the game doesnt look familiar to me, that doesnt necessarily mean this isnt the game i played, cuz my memory of childhood games isnt actually that concise... like i had completely forgotten that i ever played ff4 on the ds as a kid, and only recalled that bc when i played ff7 for the first in 2021, seeing their fleeing animation in battles where theyre running in place triggered my memory and i was.... THE LEAD SINGER OF THE 1975 !!!! they went out for a few weeks and APPARENTLYYYY according to what i’ve seen all the other fans posting, HE MANAGED TO DO THE SAME AMOUNT OF DAMAGE THAT TOOK JOE 6 YEARS. HE DID THAT IN ABT A MONTH OR TWO. (they had a history together BEFORE this andddd they worked on music for midnights sooo it seems he was privy to all the inside details abt her relationship with joe and he might’ve used that to his advantage)

basically all this to say, she was going through a LOT last year and before that. so this album has ALL the feels. losing your sense of self, processing the deepest betrayals, learning to let go of something when all you want to do is hang on as tight as possible, not knowing who cares about you anymore, but eventually finding yourself at the end.

In short malleus is the best person to introduce your mother with given how normal he treats her to which your mother finds nice for a change of pace, yes she may still have to look down a bit to meet his gaze but honestly I think malleus has the capacity to make himself taller if it’ll make your mother more comfortable.

A true gentleman through and through. The only reason he isn’t as fazed as the others is because of how much he’s already seen through his lifetime. But still that is not to say your mother is a norm oh no no no far from it in his book.

Anyways, i watched like a few video comps about mumza, bc i haven't really had time to watch lives, so my only knowledge is from ppl ranting and video comps ive seen, BUT like, mumza and Tommy's relationship?? Like it looks so fun, they both seem chaotic, and idk if it just these videos but I've seen some favouritism from mumza to Tommy, maybe it's just me, but i find it funny

I mean there was one clip where she legit agreed with tommy to use phil's belt against him if he didn't clean his clothes from the floor like-

And i remember someone mentioning how, they do act alike, and all especially for tiktok ideas

And i want that for my fic, desperately, like there isn't enough of this in my opinion-

SO i wanna play with this idea a bit, and i have already, i plan on making it a one shot for the series, cuz even tho they will have a moment on chap6 i don't think is enough so yeah

But basically, as april 1st is usually prank day or whatever, it's the same in this world but our dear mumza decided to make it her own day with her sons, it's a special thing they do instead of pranks...kind of, so like on April 1st mumza has a water gun, and they live on a castles, on top of a mountain, of snow, and she plans on shooting it on her sons, so every time, they wake up earlier to escape their mother's grasp, and not get shot, or they forget and gets shot in the morning, but it isn't just in the morning, it's through out the day and at random moments, and they have to keep an eye out

Now, their mom is good enough as it is and all, but imagine, after Tommy comes in their lives, and when he comes to visit, (or well, spoiler live with them, but that's more in the future lol) and msybe they would have an allay, but no, Tommy joins mumza in her schemes, but wait?! What's this?! Ah yes, dada decids to help out the two poor boys, hut ends up on both mumza and Tommy's wrath lol

It's all in fun and games, and they enjoy it lol, if tehy get sick the next day? Well it's an excuse not to do work i guess :)
