they both struggle with art-related physical and mental health issues, and complicated families
#outdrawn#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#sapphic books#I thought this was decent! I liked the concept (even if I got distracted by some art related things…)#and the dynamic between the characters was good. I enjoyed their relationship development broadly speaking#and the emphasis on communication; though it was a quick flip into being together all of a sudden.#The sketchbook doodle flirting was cute. Some interesting exploration of their complicated family situations too.#There’s a lot of exploration of burnout and carpal tunnel and the dangers of artists overworking which I think are important conversations#and are done with some nuance. But it’s pretty much all discussed in the context of the personal pressure they put on themselves#rather than the industry corporate greed and artificial competition created by the comic platform - which are significant in this story!#It felt odd that that connection wasn’t really ever made?#I know that this is a romance and nitpicking the background plot is beside the point and also that I am not a big romance reader#but the premise that the comic hosting site archives everything; wipes the leaderboard; and out of nowhere has a comic competition for#new weekly chapters…I’m sorry but the art world would riot. Even if people enter because they’re desperate for the cash they’d be pissed#People live off the income from their webcomics! if they were erased (temporarily) with no notice…..there would be crimes committed istg#I simply don’t believe that it would be doable to create a new weekly webcomic with no notice while you also have a full-time comic job#(especially as the only stylistic choices mentioned are full-colour) - not to mention what happened to their 8-years-running webcomics#that were archived? they don’t think about them at all after the beginning? surely they’d care about that?#And then with their new comics they make for this competition (after work I guess) we get vague snippets about them but barely anything#- if they’re consuming that much of your time I would expect to feel like they’re thinking about them all the time#rather than the vaguest discussion about genre and cast numbers only.#I guess I just think the whole comic site stunt felt unnecessary for the plot anyway -#it would have worked exactly the same if they were just competing on the normal leaderboard with their normal comics???#anyway - I’m not judging TOO hard about all that because again I know it’s not the point and maybe the industry is like that in some place#Unfortunately it was distracting enough to affect my feelings on the book tho lol.#Lastly: the audiobook………oof. The narrators talk at different speeds; for one.#And Sage’s VA does this deeply weird raspy-anime-teen-boy voice for Noah which is such an odd choice#and doesn’t match her character at all.#unforch my library only had the audiobook (what I usually prefer) so I just had to sort of….translate the narration into a normal voice lol#anyway the romance is good tho

#the sleeping tiger#the sleeping tiger (1954)#2024filmgifs#my gifs#holy moly i was NOT prepared for such psychosexual depravity#even though i should have guessed#cos Dirk Bogarde#that was such a strange precursor to both Victim and The Servant#and also totally different#i was a bit bored at the start#but then my goodness it actually surprised me#with its twists and turns of character development#and motivation#and tho i was totally ready to scoff at the antiquated psychobabble#it actually struck a bit of a nerve#and i couldn't laugh and tried very hard not to react#luckily Dirk's overacting there helped#poor baby Dirk he cannot help himself#the lighting really started to annoy me#with its unnecessary and super obvious spot lights#clumsier than i expect from Brit film#and made me wanna rewatch Pygmalion#which is exquisite of course#i also really wanted Alexis Smith to use her riding crop on Dirk#and step on him with some very wicked heels#and generally domme the fuck out of him#but then the movie distracted me with its actual plot#oh well

I really love hope is a thing with feathers and I also really LOVE the hope as a sewer rat poem too but I wish it was not explicity written as "well actually" against Dickinson asgvsjnk. The imagery is SO GOOD but this whole vibe of "my metaphor is better than your metaphor" kinda sours it for me
#i dont like the patronizing usage of ''Emily'' like theyre explaining something to a child#admittedly dickinson has been dead for over a century so its probably huge deal to talk about her flippantly in terms of poetry#this is just me personally. how i feel about it#i dont like her being namedropped like that#it has this energy of ''haha lemme school this bitch''#when the poem itself was never supposed to see the light of day. she never consented to it being published. girl was 5 years in the grave#it feels like making fun of somebodys diary#i also dont like how it kinda makes fun of dickinson's imagery of hope as something ''beautiful delicate'' thing#i always interpreted as it is told. a little bird. i pictured a fat fluffy thing like the ones i see outside my window#ive known them to be stubborn and mischivious#when we leave out seeds on the lawn the little ones are always bullied away by the crows and magpies#but they keep trying. theyll attempt to sneak over and peck away before the crows notice them#they ARE optimistic and resilient little things. tougher than they look#so i always found the metaphor apt#sewer rat also fits just as well. but i think it depends on the angle from how youre looking at it#so i dont like this vibe of ''it should be more RAW it should be UGLIER'' cuz even tho i love that style of writing#it just feels like unnecessary one-upping here#especially considering dickinson was severely depressed and tons of her poems reflect it#god forbid she dabble around with the occasional light hearted poem about seeing hope as a silly little bird#asgsjsnk sorry im not trying to make a statement or anything. ill delete this later probably

What's your opinion on Ashley and Andrew having babies? I don't think Ashley would want kids at first, or see them as just a way to keep Andrew happy, but I think Andrew would go into heat wanting to get Ashley pregnant as soon as he realized it'd irrevocably connect her to him even further and she'd have a constant reminder of who she belongs to
I think they have twins one girl one boy with pink green heterochromia and also I think we have very different outlooks on Andrew lol
I don't think Ashley would want kids in the sense that she has some sort of maternal instinct but I see Ashley as a pretty not calculating perse person but a person who tries to think a lot
At the end her impulsivity wins but she does try to think first
And I see her just constantly thinking about ways to ensure her own survival Andrew is the only social circle she has any access to without him she's done for, so she can either sacrifice never having any sex with anybody at all if Andrew doesn't want to be with her
(Which I totally believe she wants him to choose to be with her, it would be a tactical sacrifice not to)
But if he does want to, then the pregnancy is a really good way to ensure he stays with her.
A really good way to ensure either his love, or that he's guilty and "Bad" enough to not be able to leave her.
Andrew on the other hand, I don't think he would want the kids at all, and I don't think he would ever fully truly connect with them at all.
He loves her, so he will stand the kids, but he doesn't need any sort of proof, or irrevocable binding towards her, because Ashley is already choosing to stay with him at all times. Being there is what she wants.
Plus, he definitely wouldn't want the kids simply because they would be a liability on their freedom.
But he would think it's really hot to dom the hell out of his bratty little sister and put her in her place make sure she never thinks about getting pregnant from anybody else Not like Ashley ever thinks about that either way

i dont get when ppl say "atsushi would be horrified" at something thats probably just another tuesday for him

Guys, do we really think that the Queen is Ambrosius' mother? Like, I'm sorry, but it makes no sense to me and I don't think that anyone would have come up with this if it hadn't been for this article in PRIDE.
I mean, guys, if someone murdered my mum, I'd kill everyone who's even a little bit suspicious and I don't think that's an overreaction.
Also, we have literally zero evidence that it's true. There's no interaction between Ambrosius and the Queen, when she gets hurt, he doesn't even look her way and sorry, but Ambrosius doesn't look like grieving son, even during his famous anxiety scene he doesn't say a word about his boyfriend killing his mother.
So unless Ambrosius and the Queen had a Game-of-Thrones-y toxic son-mother relationship, I think it's just a mistake of the author of the article. (Imo the thought process was like Gloreth's descendants must rule the Kingdom, not just protect it.)

Funniest win condition for the third novel, protagonist is a woman and BK moon finally can gush about men as he pleases
the mere thought of it upsets something inside of me very deeply. like. if this man finally gives a female main character an arc beyond her being the love interest and then uses her as a way to gush about men of all things i think i should be allowed to commit murder.
i do think it would be funny if he made his next protagonist a woman, had her be an isekai'd korean, kept up the trend of having his two main characters have dark and silver hair... and then made it a romance novel like bdkc. or even if he just made her end up in a romantic relationship with the MC of the story she was isekai'd to.
like. the parallels and conclusions i could get out of that would be very funny and also make me murderous at the same time.

I was late to work so I didn’t eat breakfast and I was picking out granola bars at the gas station by my office and I was trying to find the flavor i wanted and this random ass man walks behind me and goes “careful, that looks like it might be fattening” and turns around like he’s joking and expects me to laugh and I almost fucking blew a gasket
