i just got what was probably the most hurtful "final reflection" paper i've had in 10 years of teaching, telling me that everything in the class was entirely useless. there was a nice little note to say "but it's not personal, you're a great person and professor" at the end, but... i'm just dumbfounded, especially after our last discussion in class had people gushing about how it was their favorite class ever. imagine being offended at being asked to consider things from multiple perspectives...

Sometimes a dog will vibe check a man and the dog will be right and you should listen. but sometimes the dog will vibe check someone for no good reason. sometimes dogs have wack judgement. sometimes dogs have biases influenced by their owners or previous owners. like. there are Racist Dogs. its not the dogs fault, but that doesnt make the bias theyve developed less real, or less potentially hurtful. i dont think we need to like, Cancel Dogs Bc Sometimes Ppl Can Train Them To Be Racist, but we do need to stop perpetuating the idea that a dog's judgement of someone is infallible. theyre not responsible for it and its not their fault its developed, theyre just dogs, they didnt choose it, but that doesnt mean theyre RIGHT lmao. i think its important to stress this for many reasons but in regard to that last post specifically, if youve ever been vibe checked as a gender you arent by a judgy dog its literally not your fault. might not even be the owners fault. not the dogs fault cos like. its a fucking dog. you do kinda have to be the bigger person in that scenario cos the other person is. now, as to why i chose that... couldn't tell you, it must have been in like 2015 i don't remember XD i think at the time slight misspellings of common words was a trend, probably due to a lot of the words themselves being taken as unused urls XD

but the idea of cubist art as a fragmented, avant-garde style with the goal of representing reality through multiple, simultaneous perspectives is something i can get behind :)

if you want to see something cool cubism-related, check out the movie The Mystery of Picasso (by Clouzot). it's a bit hard to track down online. But here's a scene where they basically record Picasso's painting process. I saw it in school and was fascinated by the way he just mercilessly paints over things creating a final product that's wildly different from all the intermediary paintings -- several paintings in one, really, except some are ephemeral, and only persist as ideas underlying the final form.

There's actually a theory about why Rob got Voided! I don't know the source, but someone somewhere heard that Season 1 Rob (who was CGI) had a model that just kept glitching out, so the writers couldn't fit him into many episodes bc he kept "breaking". In Season 2, they just made him 2D to fix it, and then had Gumball and Darwin not know his name as a joke that despite being in the same class, they'd barely seen him and thus not gotten a chance to learn his name (because the audience hadn't gotten that chance).

So Season 3, Rob's in the Void (because he'd barely made an impact on the show, from broken model, and then "well now we made it a core part of his character that G+D don't know him") and he gets disfigured breaking out (as a nod to that early broken 3D model)

Oh hey, I actually have the screenshot of Ben Bocquelet saying that his current design was partially inspired by him glitching in his s1 model!

Makes sense tbh, I did assume he got put there since he didn't really have a role or his wasn't considered interesting enough.

It’s kinda messed up when reading quizzes are just like “who’s this guy” and there are fifteen named characters and in order to succeed you cannot be me because I cannot remember names (I’m neurodivergent. That’s why.) and it’s like huh maybe if I where neurotypical I could pass this easier and I missed the other three questions because the professor didn’t include the afterword in the syllabus (she put it somewhere else) and what am I supposed to do? Check every place she writes to make sure I do everything? How am I supposed to remember names when I try my absolute hardest but I just can’t.

I’m gonna try to ask my profesor to include some context in future but idk I might have to wait until I get my accommodations. It’s frustrating because I’m expected to do so much more to keep up with everyone else like it’s my fault.

it's so funny to me that conservatives think the reason university students become more liberal is because of the actual course material and not like. the fact that universities in the US introduce are oftentimes the first place Americans are introduced to a walkable environment with affordable health care, with community spaces for any affiliation under the sun where they give you free resources and cheap food. with included public transit and opportunities for training in your field of choice. and you realize that for how much you're spending on tuition/taxes, yeah, you do deserve these things, it would be insane not to have those. and then you graduate and go back to having to buy a car to drive 20 minutes to the grocery store.
