Feelings
@wolfstarmicrofic
Sirius sighed.
“Why do you sigh so much?”
He glanced down at the five-year-old perched on the toilet seat, combing his messy hair to get ready for the day. Or rather, combing one strand of his hair over a dozen times and neglecting the rest. Sirius couldn’t blame him; it was a struggle to untangle every morning and he always ended up having to help him.
He looked back at himself in the mirror, where he’d finished shaving and all the while had been judging the size and shape of his nose, and his eyebags that seemed to get darker every day, and those lines that had appeared on his forehead …
He sighed again.
“Because sometimes I don’t feel pretty,” he confessed.
“Moony always says you are.”
He sighed once more and poked his cheek to make it look … different. To no avail, of course.
“Yes, but he’s biased so that doesn’t count.”
“What’s that mean?”
“Biased?” He looked at Harry for confirmation who nodded. “It means someone can’t be objective about something.”
“What’s objecive,” the boy tested the unfamiliar word and ending up slurring it.
“Objective,” Sirius enunciated more clearly. “It’s when …” He searched for a way to explain the word. “You don’t let your feelings get in the way of judging something. Making an opinion about something,” he added to be more precise. “It’s only looking at the facts. So, Moony is biased because, thanks to all of his feelings of love getting in the way, he can’t be objective about me. He’ll still think I’m pretty when I’ve lost all my hair and I’m old and wrinkly.”
Harry made a face at the thought of an old and wrinkly Paddy with no hair. Sirius beckoned him over to look with him in the mirror together.
“But you won’t let your feelings get in the way, will you?” Now, with Harry standing on the toilet seat and leaning against the sink, he took a breath to steady himself and said, “So tell me honestly, do you think I’m pretty? I can take it.”
Harry looked at him for a moment and then shrugged. “Ms. Bruhn thinks you’re sooo haaandsome,” he finally said, mimicking the slow and high-pitched voice of his pre-school teacher from when he’d overheard her talking to a colleague once, and swooningly put his hand to his chest.
“You think you’re so funny,” Sirius replied drily to the giggling five-year-old next to him before taking the brush and holding it like a weapon. “Here, you jokester, let’s untangle that mat.”
What followed was underlined by a lot of squealing, but finally they managed to make the boy look somewhat decent enough so other people won’t think he was being neglected.
“Am I pretty?” he asked Remus later who was standing at the kitchen counter making tea while Sirius was sat on the sofa.
They finally had some peace after the little one had been handed to Ms. Bruhn for safekeeping for the day.
“Very.”
“You’re not even looking.”
Remus briefly glanced up at him before going back to put teabags in the cups.
“I know what you look like, Sirius,” he replied calmly.
“Yes, but today. And be objective. Don’t let your feelings get in the way.”
Remus finally looked up at him and held his gaze with a raised eyebrow.
“You’re beautiful, Sirius. You know that.”
Sirius rolled his eyes and shook his head, unsatisfied with that answer.
“I said don’t let your feelings get in the way.”
“What are you talking about.” He shook his head. “Where’s all this coming from? Sirius Black not satisfied with his good looks?”
Sirius let out another long sigh in a series of many that day, letting his head fall back on the sofa. He didn’t really know what the problem was. Usually he was quite confident in his beauty but lately he just felt bored of his body and the way it looked.
“I don’t know. Maybe I’m getting old,” he finally relented.
There was a moment of silence before big hands cupped his cheeks from behind, leaning his head even further back so he could look at Remus’s face.
“I doubt twenty-five counts as old.” He stroked his thumb along Sirius’s cheek and lips and down to his chin. More gently, he said, “I don’t think I can be objective about you. But if it helps, I’ll still think you’re beautiful when you’re old and wrinkly.”
And he knew that, but somehow, hearing it, he couldn’t keep the smile from creeping up on his face and the warmth from spreading in his chest.
Maybe it didn’t matter that his feelings got in the way.

James and Sirius fluff in case anyone needs it <33
James always goes to Sirius first when he has exciting news and vice versa.
Sirius has his own room at the Potter's house but chooses to crash in James' because they're so used to being together.
They hold hands in the corridor and don't care if anyone else sees it.
Toxic masculinity? Never heard of it.
Sirius will sometimes let James do his eyeliner if his hands are too shaky (and those few times after Sirius broke his hand in a fight)
James will sometimes let Sirius do his eyeliner. (He definitely feels bonita)
AND HE LOOKS SO HOT
Constantly laying on each other. Feet up on the other' legs, heads on shoulders, laying across their lap, literally any manner of flung across the other you can think of.
Always touching in some way, both of them needing to feel the other so they can stay grounded.
They always greet by hugging each other, always, even if they'd only been apart for like ten minutes.
Sirius pretends to hate James waking him up early for morning exercise over the summer but he secretly loves the bonding time between them.
Sirius was the one to dub James 'Prongs' because he accidentally stabbed Sirius with his antler the first time he transformed.
James cooks both of their food and Sirius pours their drinks and sets the table, it's their routine every meal they're home for. They don't know when they started doing it, but neither of them have to speak to know this would be the arrangement.
Every morning after third year James woke up to a pillow to the face.
The only reason James disliked Wolfstar getting together was the fact that Sirius started getting up earlier than him and James now had to suffer through said pillow every morning.
They were actually the first guy either of them had kissed.
They don't talk about it because it doesn't affect their relationship at all, but they experimented a little after they both figured out their sexualities. It was the only person they both felt safe enough with to try.
James once went three hours without talking to Sirius because he was angry.
They both came running to each other to apologise fifteen minutes into the third hour because they couldn't take it anymore.
They've never gone more then twenty minutes without checking in since.
Sirius hates mimes, everything about them freaks him out. So, naturally, James dressed up as a mime for Halloween two years in a row.
When they graduated, they decided to go out and celebrate by breaking into the muggle zoo, transforming into their animagious forms and prancing around in the pens.
Sirius and James have not been allowed to go to a zoo since.
That Remus knows of.
James once helped Sirius make polyjuice potion so they could pretend to be each other.
Five days.
They made enough potion for them to sip on for five days.
The havoc they wreaked that week was unmatched.
James had gotten Sirius into nearly a month's worth of detention.
Sirius kissed Lily.
It was actually how she and James got together.
They never confessed it was actually Sirius because it worked out in the end, but James secretly loathes Sirius for stealing his first kiss with her.
Every once in a while after the others had fallen asleep they would sneak out to the astronomy tower together.
Sirius would point out all of his favorite constellations, explaining their stories and how they found their way into the stars.
James has so far not been able to look at the night sky without searching for the Dog Star near Orion's Belt.
James sings in the shower. Loudly. Sometimes Sirius joins him from the dorm room and they perform an epic duet. Much to the annoyance of Remus and Peter.
They were the bestest friends ever and yes, Remus, bestest is a real word.

YANDERE REMUS LUPIN HEADCANONS
Tumblr media
He's a literal baby and such a cinnamon roll, that my dear friends, is a fact. He's so shy at first he can't even come near you and talk to you but oh, how his heart ACHES and LONGS for being close to you and wanting to be with you and talk to you about stuff
You'll have to approach him on your own lol since he'll never approach you on his own. Bby boi here is far too insecure and his head is filled with insecure and negative thoughts about what if he screws up the first impression with you and does something so bad that you'll hate him forever? He can't have that happening, his fragile little heart won't be able to take it, he'll be really sad. And he definitely doesn't want to accidentally make you think he's some sort of werewolf freak and hate him for the rest of his life for it, that would just crush him. So, he'll resort to keeping his feelings at bay by just watching and observing you quietly and being content with just that
However his dear pals, Sirius, James and Peter would sooner or later come to know about his crush on you and after all the teasing and stuff, they'll help him get close to you. You know your friends try increasing and boosting your confidence and help you get ready whenever you're about to meet your crush but they always do something or the other to 'accidentally' get you closer to together like pushing you closer to them and stuff? Yeah.... that's what these boneheads here will be doing lol
After much pestering and encouraging from his friends, he thinks he's mentally prepared for this and the second you turn around to look at him it's all over for him and James and Sirius would literally be facepalming as he stutters getting lost in your beautiful eyes and drowning in the beauty of your wonderful features. All he can manage after days of preparation for making a first impression with you is a 'Hi'. A faint one that too, with his face red as a tomato and he rushes off somewhere to calm his erratic heartbeat. He thinks now you hate him and you might think he's some sort of weirdo but on the contrary, you actually think he was cute
He has books filled with your likes and dislikes and he knows it's no normal to have information about you like this. And sometimes he also follows you around just to know if you're safe or not, and of course, the other Marauders would be encouraging him with his yandere behavior for you
He knows his feelings for you are completely wrong and irrational and he should get rid of them immediately. After a while he'll start ignoring you to try burying the feelings deep down but he just can't forget the feelings he has for you. Such feelings of deep possessiveness and want for you.... he can't seem to get rid of it and when you feel sad and upset that he's ignoring you, that's when he'll stop since he doesn't want to see you sad ever. Seeing you sad or upset about something is the last thing he ever wants, poor bby boi's heart will get crushed if he sees tears in your eyes
And when you do find out at some point or the other that he's a werewolf, he'll panic and he'll tell you to go somewhere far away from him so he can't hurt you. But you chose to stay with him and even in his werewolf form he won't ever hurt you, he's gained that amount of self control, you're too precious for him. And he won't ever kidnap you for something stupid like talking to other people and not paying him any attention, he'll only kidnap you if he feels you're safety is being threatened. He might be a lot of things but he's also really paranoid about your safety, he can't afford to lose you. So, he'll hide you in the Shrieking Shack till he passes out of Hogwarts and then he'll take you to some other place with him, and of course, the Shrieking Shack will have all sorts of enchantments and advanced hexes you can't break. He'll of course have his friends helping him when it comes down to all this
He understands what he did was really wrong and begs you for forgiveness and that he just wants a chance to prove his love for you. He'll even kill himself for you, he loves you so much please don't leave him. He'll shower you with so much love, never raise his hand or voice at you, treat you with the utmost respect and care you'll eventually fall in love with him on your own. Of course part of him feels guilty that you're falling in love with him in these types of circumstances but there's another selfish part of him telling him that it's okay to be selfish once in a while and just relish and enjoy the moment so in conclusion, one of the BEST yanderes to have :)

Hii how would you describe Sirius's and V's relationship in 'It runs in the blood?' Is it based mostly on manipulations? And how could V ever love Sirius?
I started reading your fic and so far I really enjoy your writing and your ways of characterization especially regarding the Black family and their dynamics. What I'm interested in however is why did you decide to pair the two together and why would someone like V ever became interested in someone like Sirius? No criticism just curious about your thoughts.
Even if there was manipulation involved in the relationship, that doesn't mean the feelings aren't genuine.
I decided to pair them together because I was curious how they'd work, in what way, what circumstances. I like to challenge my writing with rare pairs.
Why would someone like V become interested in Sirius? Well, Sirius is incredibly charismatic, he's handsome, he's intelligent, he comes from a powerful family with an ancient name, he's ruthless but he also has this shred of goodness in him that interests Voldemort, yet Sirius' morals are so lax that he wouldn't care too much about Voldemort's horrible crimes. Sirius is loyal to the bone, willing to fight for those he loves, everything else can go to hell. He's passionate, brave, filled with energy, he has a great sense of humour, he's not bigoted enough to look down on Voldemort for not being a pureblood, yet he is bigoted enough to think muggles are inferior to wizards, so he and Voldemort together can complain about how crazy purebloods can be, while also bitch about how 'backwards' the muggles are. And, of course, he has the unique astral magic that no one else in the world has, and he's willing to confide in Voldemort about it. Also, did I mention how incredibly handsome he is? Voldemort is a dark lord, but man isn't blind. When Sirius walks by, anyone with eyes notices him haha.
At the beginning of the story, Voldemort finds some type of kinship with him, in the way that they both rejected their family, yet they both crave family, even if they don't admit it. Of course, Voldemort is an extreme version of rejecting family for rejecting him (he killed daddy and sent uncle to prison), but he recognises the struggle in Sirius, who wants his family to love him, who sometimes deeply dislikes his family, but he'll forever be tied to them, bonds that can't be broken. For all of Voldemort's rants that he became his own man, we can see that Voldemort is deeply obsessed with is own heritage- with Slytherin side (a source of pride) and with the muggle side (a source of constant self-loathing).
Voldemort was born in poverty, hated and pushed aside from birth, he had to work for everything; Sirius is the opposite of this, and yet they are both defining themselves by their blood, and both are obsessed with names, names that haunt them, put burden on their shoulders. Voldemort will never get rid of 'Riddle' no matter how he pretends he had, no matter how he terrifies people into not saying it, and Sirius will never get rid of Black, no matter if he left home and he's trying so hard to 'be different'.
Also, the most scary villain from all the Harry Potter books was Sirius, for me. Sirius in POA (before we learn he's innocent) managed to scare me more than Voldemort did in all the books lol. So I figured, why not pair them up, see where this goes.

THE BATTLE OF LIONS AND SNAKES - R.A.B
As the first wizarding war draws near, the rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin becomes even more visible. You'd thought that being James's sister and a Slytherin would change things, but it only made things worse. Pairing: Regulus Black x fem!Potter!reader. Genre: fluff, some angst. Warnings: pureblood supremacy, war talk, slightly dark themes? Swearing, Sirius being a dick. YN calls Sirius a cunt.
Tumblr media
The Potters and Blacks were, perhaps, two of the most popular wizarding families at Hogwarts; along with the Malfoys, Prewetts and the Notts. Yes, being pureblood had it's privileges, but it was popularity that put James Potter and Sirius Black on the map.
James and Sirius were the kinds of people that no-one disliked. They were good at sports, funny, daring, and over-all good natured people. They might not have the best grades like Remus Lupin or Lily Evans, but they were damn good at making people laugh, and no-one seemed to mind if they lost any house points.
When the Sorting Hat was sorting you into your house, it had mentioned Gryffindor. Out of all the houses, Gryffindor was the house to be in. Gryffindor made stars, and was home to many famous witches and wizards.
James was a leader. He became Prefect in his fifth year and Head Boy in his sixth year, and was the youngest Quidditch player in a hundred years to be made Captain of the Gryffindor team. He was a good friend - always loyal, always listening to the side of everyone's conversations, always making sure everyone was involved. He was a gentleman - when he had his heart set on someone, he knew exactly what to do and how to treat her right (in the later years, of course). Your mother and father were extremely proud of him.
You yourself were somewhat similar, as his younger sister, but you always envied him for finding most things in life easy. James had every opportunity laid out for him. You, however, had to work hard if you wanted something, sometimes twice as hard as the average student; hence why the hat placed you in Slytherin.
Being in Slytherin and being a Potter caused quite an uproar your first year at Hogwarts. Everyone in Slytherin had a bone to pick with James, based on whatever prank he and his friends had done on the house. Because of this, everyone had some kind of opinion on you, except for the first years, who knew nothing better but to be your friend.
You had met your first ever friend on the Hogwarts Express. James had brought you to sit with his friends, the "Marauders", as they liked to call themselves. You'd spent two Christmases with them before coming to Hogwarts, and honestly, they were pretty stuck-up, especially Remus, who was some sort of care-home yob, and glared at you every time you spoke.
Eventually, you left the carriage, telling James you wanted to make some new friends. He didn't mind, and jokingly told you not to make friends with the "wrong sort", although you didn't really know what that meant.
All of the carriages were full of people who looked older than you and scarier. You walked further down the train, wondering why some students were staring at you. You ignored them, looking through all of the carriages. Finally, after quite some time, you came across a carriage that was almost empty.
A small boy was sitting on the left side of the carriage, reading a book about Ancient Runes. You smiled, he looked so peaceful compared to everyone else; and he was your age. You put your hand to the door and knocked. He looked up, frowning.
The small boy put his book down and got up. He opened the door, "what do you want?" His dark eyebrows furrowing in confusion. You smiled apologetically, "I was just looking for a place to sit. My brother and his friends are a bit annoying." The small boy looked you up and down and stepped aside. "You can sit with me."
"My brother and his friends are a bit stuck up, too. I met them on the platform. My name's Regulus, by the way. Regulus Black."
Your eyes widened. This was Regulus Black? The brother that Sirius Black despised so much? Well, he didn't seem quite so decietful and troll-like after all, but perhaps siblings just disagreed with each other. You wondered why he was all by himself.
"I enjoy my own company, normally, but mother said to make friends. You seem like a respectable enough witch... Would you mind telling me your name?" You tried not to giggle at how Regulus spoke. You'd never heard a ten-year-old speak so posh before. You smiled, "YN Potter, nice to meet you."
Regulus's eyes darkened but he shook his head. "You're not bad for a Potter. Let's be friends." Regulus Black held out his hand, and you shook it, sitting down next to him.
The train continued to move through Scotland. "I'm afraid I'll be put in Slytherin," you said after awhile, putting your head in your hands, "all of my family's been in Gryffindor for thousands of years, but the other day dad joked that I was more cunning than bold."
Regulus looked at you, "I think what you did earlier was pretty bold." You scoffed, "what, asking you if I could sit with you?" He grinned and nodded, "yeah. Do you know how many people avoided me just then before you got here? Even in the Slytherin carriage they think I'm some sort of a freak." You frowned, "I don't think you're a freak. You're just a regular kid to me."
Regulus pulled a face, "I'll have you know I'm the second heir to the Most Noble and Ancient House of Black, an extremely respectable and non-regular young wizard." You let out a snort of a laugh, "what kind of kid has to be respectable?!" Before covering your mouth. Regulus smiled at you, "the ones who don't snort like that." You giggled.
Regulus started to get more comfortable. "All of my family's been in Slytherin for thousands of years, just like how yours is with Gryffindor. When Sirius was put in Gryffindor two years ago mum went absolutely ballistic. Maybe I might be put in Gryffindor too, but I think I'll probably be in Slytherin... I wish I was brave enough to run away."
You snorted again, "I wish I was brave enough to be in Gryffindor." Regulus laughed loudly. You turned to him, "if I am put in Slytherin, it won't be so bad if I'm with you." And he smiled.
And you were right. With Regulus by your side, you found it easy making friends in first year. Everyone in Slytherin was a pureblood, and was either scared of him (which you thought was truly ridiculous) or they respected him.
As the years went by, it was clear to most people that the two of you were as close as two peas in a pod. You were often seen together so much that on the rare occasions where you weren't together, you were asked where the other one was.
It was in your third year where you realised your feelings for the youngest Black brother was not just those of friendship, but something much stronger. As your crush grew and your Slytherin friends teased you about it, you began to worry and think of what would happen if you were to date Regulus, and what would happen when your big brother and his best friend found out that you were dating the little brother that he despised so.
And in fourth year, as if nudging these events into reality even further, you and Regulus began to date. In fifth year, the two of you became prefects and Quidditch Captains, and it was clear that you were a powerful unstoppable couple. Despite this, however, some people still did not agree with the dynamic of your relationship.
It was during lunch in the middle of your fifth year did the rivalry between Slytherin and Gryffindor really take its poll.
The war was almost in full motion, and it was obvious to anyone with brains that Voldemort did not have good intentions. There had been whispers in the Slytherin Common Room of some older students who had joined Voldemort's side through some kind of ritual.
James and Sirius were convinced that Regulus was one of these people, and as usual, had convinced themselves that they were right.
"What exactly are you trying to say, James?" You snapped. Your older brother put his hands up in surrender. "Don't get mad at me, I'm just the messenger. Padfoot thinks you should reconsider your relationship with Regulus, that's all." Merlin, were you glad that Reg was out in the pitch training. Sometimes his mad Quidditch obsession was a good thing.
You turned to Sirius now, "you think that, do you?" And Sirius shrugged. James jumped in quickly, keen to stop an argument from happening.
"Well you know how Padfoot's family are all very... Traditional," James was picking his words carefully, watching your facial expressions, "and he told me the other day that his folks had been talking about some dark lord for a long time, like, ever since second year, and how they were all going to join him and support him, and Padfoot was just saying-"
"Regulus is bound to join up!" Sirius butted in. James turned to him and sighed. You looked at him. "He means well, but he's easily coeerced into things, and he's always trying to impress mother, and they always brainwash him, I mean, just look at Bella."
You scowled. Sirius's parents may have been horrible people, but that didn't mean everyone else in his family was. Okay, perhaps one or two of his cousins had done some nasty things in the past, and Bellatrix was one of them, but you would always remember her as the girl who cursed some older students for boxing your ears. She'd said any friend of Regulus was a friend of hers and that you could count on her.
"Bella is a perfectly kind and respectable witch. She's really nice, actually." Sirius rolled his eyes at this. "Well, whatever, but don't come crying to me when your boyfriend has suddenly run off to join Voldemort. I'm telling you, all of them are like that. You know, at least ninety percent of Slytherin house are evil!" Sirius threw his arms up and you began to fume.
"But you always forget the main thing, don't you, Black?!" Typical Sirius Black to hate something but to leave an exception. "I'm a Slytherin too! You think we're all just so evil, do you? You think all of us want to join Voldemort? Since Regulus apparently will, maybe I will to PROVE YOU WRONG, you righteous, narcissistic cunt!"
Lily and Marlene gasped but you didn't care. Sirius scoffed even louder. "Oh, that's rich, coming from YN "I don't want to be a Slytherin" Potter! But I suppose after snogging my dear brother everything's fine, is it? Suppose the death eaters will just have to snog you to convince you to join up-"
"CONFRINGO!" The Gryffindors shrieked loudly at the sudden spell. Sirius flew backwards, knocking down the students who were sitting next to him and you knew who it was immeadietly. Regulus was always rather powerful with his magic.
Sirius got up and glared at his younger brother, taking out his wand. Regulus held his chin high, "don't you say a word against my girlfriend." And Sirius scoffed. "Is she really your girlfriend, or is she just someone who you lock lips with in your bed? LEVICORPUS!"
You dove infront of Regulus just before you saw Sirius wave his wand, but forgot to take out your own, and now you were hovering in the air. James let out an enraged roar, getting up. "WHAT THE FUCK, PADFOOT! DID YOU JUST CURSE MY FUCKING SISTER?!" You didn't think you'd ever heard him be so mad before.
Sirius glared at him, "I was trying to get Regulus, but the little weasel doged it just like everything else in his life!" You tried to fight the enchantment, "GO FUCK YOURSELF, BLACK!" kicking at the air. The other students laughed.
"Expelliarmus!" Regulus flicked his wand and Sirius's wand flew out of his hand. "You're just as bad as mother," Regulus hissed, "cursing an innocent person." Sirius rolled his eyes, "oh, I'm as bad as mother? Who's the one still grovelling about her knees and begging for her admiration?! Who's the one who-"
"CAN THE TWO OF YOU JUST SHUT UP AND PUT MY SISTER BACK? FINITE INCANTATUM!" James wove his wand angrily, and you fell back down to the ground. The school had stopped laughing now, and were all just watching intently.
Regulus turned to you, "are you okay?" You dusted yourself off and nodded, "I'm good." You turned to Sirius. "Not that it's any of your business, but Regulus is my boyfriend and I love him. So if you can't deal with that you can just get lost."
James looked the two of you up and down before nodding solemnly. He turned to you, "YN, Regulus, I'm sorry. I didn't see it before, but I do now, and I can tell that you're in love. So, what I'm trying to say is, if you want to be together, I don't have a problem with it anymore." James nodded at Regulus, who still looked a bit taken aback that he was being addressed.
Sirius scowled, "I still do."
This time it was Regulus who rolled his eyes. He then turned to you and grinned, "since you've got such a problem with it, Sirius, watch this." You looked at Regulus in confusion before getting the memo and grinning. Regulus smiled too, grabbing your waist and leaning in, kissing you on the lips. Slytherin house cheered as the others stared in shock.
Sirius scoffed in disbelief, "whatever." And you smiled, kissing Regulus again. James made a sound, "you better remove Regulus from my sister, Padfoot, or you won't have a brother anymore." You giggled softly, threading your fingers through Regulus's dark curls before looking up into his green eyes and pulling away.

Hi! what are your thoughts on the ever present fanon idea that James repeatedly asks Lily to date him before she finally concedes (he pesters her tbh)?
I feel like this throws a lot of people off of Jily as it just adds a bit of creepiness to the ship and makes it weirder for Lily to get with James considering this behaviour, after what must’ve been a fair amount of reckoning since he tormented her childhood best friend for years. Like even if Lily hated Snape at this point I don’t think she’d forget how James treated him easily and let James off the hook without a proper reckoning so adding pestering behaviour to that dynamic just makes their relationship more unlikely ya know. Honestly just tryna find reasons why fandom in general dislike Jily more than jegulus atp.
Hi anon
This idea that James repeatedly asked Lily out I think far precedes Jegulus. In my youth, the few fics I engaged with (often because my best friend kindly helped translate them) seemed to position it as a very cute thing - although it always annoyed me even then, because it has no basis in canon. The day and age where James persistently asking Lily out was seen as cute are over, and now this fanon idea is presented in favour of Jegulus or Snily.
Actually, as an aside, in general the marauders' story is one that has aged poorly... You can't really view the marauders without the lens of it being the 70s and during a wizarding world war - but people do and it completely changes everything.
How do I feel about it?
I feel the same way about this as I do with all fanon ideas that get presented as evidence. It drives me up the wall no end. We all get carried away with our own interpretations and that's fine, but if people cannot separate canon from interpretation of canon /headcanon from fanon, how can we have an informed debate?
Canon:
"Why are you so obsessed with them anyway? Why do you care what they’re doing at night?” “I’m just trying to show you they’re not as wonderful as everyone seems to think they are.” ... “I didn’t mean — I just don’t want to see you made a fool of — He fancies you, James Potter fancies you!” The words seemed wrenched from him against his will. “And he’s not ... everyone thinks ... big Quidditch hero — ” Snape’s bitterness and dislike were rendering him incoherent, and Lily’s eyebrows were traveling farther and farther up her forehead.
My interpretation of canon:
The conversation between Snape and Lily to me indicates that it is a relatively new development (which means sometimes not long before/after the whomping willow incident). At this point I think it's hard to argue that James has asked Lily out - why on earth would Snape feel the need to point out that James fancies her if this be the case.
Canon:
“I will if you go out with me, Evans,” said James quickly. “Go on ... Go out with me, and I’ll never lay a wand on old Snivelly again.” ... “I wouldn’t go out with you if it was a choice between you and the giant squid,” said Lily. “Bad luck, Prongs,” said Sirius briskly, turning back to Snape. ... “There you go,” he said, as Snape struggled to his feet again, “you’re lucky Evans was here, Snivellus — ” “I don’t need help from filthy little Mudbloods like her!” Lily blinked. “Fine,” she said coolly. “I won’t bother in future. And I’d wash your pants if I were you, Snivellus.” ... “What is it with her?” said James, trying and failing to look as though this was a throwaway question of no real importance to him. “Reading between the lines, I’d say she thinks you’re a bit conceited, mate,” said Sirius. “Right,” said James, who looked furious now, “right"
Also canon: Lily found James attractive at this point, despite not liking him very much. It was confirmed in an interview, in response to whether or not Lily hated James, but as we know even from the source text:
“How come she married him?” Harry asked miserably. “She hated him!” “Nah, she didn’t,” said Sirius.
My interpretation of canon:
James is being an immature d***. That aside, nothing about this dialogue suggests to me that James has ever asked Lily out before. Why? James looks FURIOUS at the rejection, he does not give off the vibes of someone who has routinely been rejected by Lily.
There's also the small stuff which doesn't by itself mean anything but which adds up, such as Sirius' and Snape's reaction. Sirius doesn't come across as someone who has seen this a hundred times. He's obviously far less affected or surprised by the outcome, but that's not the same thing. Snape completely loses it with Lily - why? It's not the first time James and Sirius has bullied him, but if it's the first time Snape has listened to James ask her out - worse still, use him to ask her out, he might be furious. He told her so, didn't he? James Potter fancied her.
My headcanon:
We know Lily found James attractive, and that James is shocked to be rejected. We also know Snape is nervous that Lily might be falling for James: 'I’m just trying to show you they’re not as wonderful as everyone seems to think they are' Why? Probably because by now Lily and James have flirted a little on and off. If Lily spoke the way she spoke to James by the lake - if James routinely asked Lily out - then the conversation between Severus and Lily makes no sense.
If people want to like Jegulus, they can. Personally, I think Jily holds everything I want from an "enemies" to lovers trope, and if I want another trope it's usually best friends to lovers, and I've got prongsfoot for that. Or if I am feeling like I want both, there's always Jilypad <3

It was annoying how good Remus was with younger kids. When Regulus was forced to tutor with him, he thought he wouldn't be able to bare it. Remus wasn't one of his favorite people. Back when they were kids and he was Rosie, Remus used to be nice with Regulus. Tried to include him in the games and pranks. Tried to explain things to him when all that Sirius did was laugh at him. Tried to tell him his and Sirius’s secrets and inside jokes.
But the dislike Regulus had for him was because Sirius used to prefer him over anyone when they were kids. Perhaps he still did. And although Remus was as kind as his mother, to which Regulus had had an affection in the past, it was easier to hate him. It was easier to blame him for everything Sirius did, for how much Sirius had changed, for the fact that he left and all was on Regulus's shoulders.
Plus, Regulus really sucked at tutoring. He didn't have the patience to teach kids what was easy to learn. Remus, on the other hand, had all the patience in the world. It was really annoying.
"You did great today, Reggie!" Remus said as he patted his arm once the kids finally left.
Only Sirius called him that. And Regulus didn't know why Remus dared to do the same.
"I yelled at Danny like five times..."
"You yelled less... That's what's important" Remus pointed out with a smile.
"I don't know how you have the patience" Regulus closed his eyes "I know why Dumbledore made you do this. You're a natural"
"That man is obsessed with me doing something productive after school. He thinks I would be a good teacher"
Regulus didn't say how much he agreed with the old man.
"You could be a good teacher as well" Remus tried with that annoying patience he had. Regulus gave him a look "Different and stricter... But a good one"
Regulus decided not to say anything else. For the past month since they started this tutoring, Remus had been nothing but nice. But Regulus couldn't like him. He had a duty to fulfill.
Remus smiled even if he expected an answer. Regulus wondered if he had the patience with Sirius. Sirius, that sometimes was a lot.
"I could never be a teacher" Regulus replied under his breath.
"Why not?"
Regulus couldn't tell him that he had to pretend to be the good son, the new Heir. That he had to pretend to be interested in the family's company for the sake of Sirius. So their parents would leave him alone.
"It's not my thing" Regulus shrugged.
Remus opened his mouth to say something else. But he was interrupted by none other than Sirius himself.
"Mooooonyyyyy!!"
When Sirius crossed the door of the classroom, it broke Regulus's heart to see him. It was obvious that he smiled at his boyfriend widely but when he noticed his brother, his smile disappeared from his face.
The relationship between the two brothers had always been complicated. Sirius had thought of Regulus annoying, a crying baby, weak and boring. But he had never hated him like now.
In his mind, Regulus was a traitor. He had no idea what Regulus was doing for him.
"I didn't know certain people would be here still" Sirius commented with disdain.
After giving hateful eyes to Regulus, Sirius turned to kiss his boyfriend.
"Hey" a smile.
"Hey" Remus responded but was giving pitiful glances at Regulus.
"I'm starving, Moons" Sirius added with a moan "Can we go for dinner?"
Regulus rolled his eyes openly.
"Aren't you going to say hello, Sirius?" he spat.
Sirius pursed his lips "I don't see anyone else than my boyfriend"
Regulus tried to swallow the knot on his throat.
"Sirius..." Remus warned.
"Let's just go, Moons"
Remus sighed in disappointment. Regulus knew he wanted to fix things between them. Just like he used to intervene back when they were little. And Regulus hated him for that. He hated how considerate he was.
"Okay, I'm just going to pop into the loo down the hall...." he began "Why don't you wait here?"
"I'll come with you!" Sirius exclaimed desperately.
Regulus wished he could just ran. But his hands trembled as he picked his things.
"Pads, I'm not a kid" Remus said with a chuckle "I don't need company to the bathroom"
"But..."
"It would only take a minute" Remus smiled fondly at Sirius "I'll be right back... See you around, Reg"
Regulus just waved. He didn't look at them. He focused his eyes on his bag.
Then Remus whispered something on Sirius’s ear. And Regulus could have sworn he said: "Be nice".
Regulus thought that as soon as Remus left, Sirius was going to ran outside and wait for Remus at the hall. But Regulus felt his brother's eyes on him. Those penetrating eyes like daggers. Though of course he didn't say a word. When Sirius was angry, it was silence treatment.
"Don't worry, Sirius" Regulus snapped as he finally hang his bag on his shoulder "I'm leaving now so you won't have to see me anymore"
"Good" Sirius said under his breath as he crossed his arms and looked away.
Sometimes he was such a little whinny kid.
Regulus was not an explosive person. He usually swallowed his anger when people did something to him. But lately, he had been feeling an unexplainable irritation inside of him that made him explode.
That irritation made him stop on his tracks and face his brother.
"You know what? It is not my fault that you didn't want this for yourself" Regulus said, raising his voice a little "You had it all and you decided to step away from it... Such a fool, Sirius. If you don't want the spotlight, than I do. I'm not such a baby coward like you!"
Regulus had been playing the part very well. He didn't know how he did it. He didn't understand how he didn't break down and confess everything. He had to be believable. Sirius had to hate him so that Orion could consider him as the New Heir. And Sirius could leave his new life in peace.
And of course, Sirius was explosive. He had to yell and have the last word always. He snorted in disbelief as he turned to face Regulus with hate.
"So I am the coward now, ha?" Sirius said, shaking his head "Who is the one licking father's shoes like a pussy just because he is scared of doing anything else? Who is the one who does everything mother says afraid that she would get angry? Ha?" he buffed "Let's talk about cowards, Regulus!"
"I am not a coward!" Regulus shouted "I am doing what I fucking want for once!"
"You never wanted to be the heir!"
"Because you were in the middle!" Regulus snapped "With you there, I never had a chance. But now that you've proven to be a pussy, I am willing to do everything to fill up your shoes... And actually do so much better than you"
Regulus could see anger filling up on his brother's eyes. He knew he was saying the exact things to make him hate him more.
"Who are you?" Sirius tutted with the ghost of watery eyes on his face. "Where is the sweet Regulus that I used to know? Did they wash your brain so badly that you were left stupid?" he smiled evily "You sound like a parrot, repeating father's words over and over.... Did they leave you a personality somewhere?"
Now it was Regulus's turn to get irritated and angry.
"I have a personality, you twat! Just because I am not a rebel like you, doesn't mean I am not doing what is best"
"Regulus, you have a options..." Sirius took a step closer, trying to get some sense into his younger brother "Just because I didn't... You don't have to... We can..."
Of course, Regulus had never been known to be this aggressive, this active, this mean, this interested in the family. Regulus had been quiet, invisible, seen as weak and a baby by others. It was reasonable that Sirius thought he was being forced by Orion or Walburga. That he was doing all of this because he couldn't say no. Because he was a scared little boy who would do anything to please the authority. And that pissed Regulus off all the time. People taking him for granted.
But right now, anger aside, he had to convince Sirius he was the bad guy. That he should be hated, not rescued.
So he smiled in a mocking way.
"You are just jealous, aren't you?" he asked
Sirius let out a loud chuckle "Jealous? Of you? Ha!"
"You've been used to all the attention on yourself, I get it" Regulus nodded "But right now, you can't stand that I am the one getting attention..."
Sirius clenched his jaw and Regulus knew he had hit a nerve.
"Everyone is looking at me..." Regulus continued "Father, Mother, The Family, The whole school.... I have the attention of the Knights and the girls... I am getting more popular than you and that annoys you, doesn't it?"
Regulus tried to smile in a mean way, looking at Sirius as if he was pathetic. Trying to imitate the humiliating tone and voice their father used on them.
"That's ridiculous" Sirius said under his breath. But Regulus noticed nervousness in his voice. So he carried on.
"You used to be the star for everyone...." he looked at him up side down trying to find the courage to say the next words "Now you are just the pathetic little faggot that nobody wants anymore"
Sirius’s reaction was instant. In a second he had pushed Regulus against the wall and had his hand against his throat. Squeezing and squeezing.
"SAY THAT AGAIN, YOU LITTLE SHIT!" Sirius was spiting rage. His eyes were popped and red. He was like a feral dog.
Obviously, Regulus didn't have air to respond. He was getting choked by his brother.
'I'm sorry' Regulus thought when he saw Sirius’s eyes filling up with tears, not quite believing what they were witnessing 'I'm doing this for you. This is all for you, Sirius. I love you'
He found only hate on the older Black's eyes.
Remus was back, pulling Sirius away, pushing him away.
"What the hell?? I go for two minutes and you already are at each other's throats!!" Remus roared in disbelief.
Regulus was finally able to breathe as he coughed to get air back into his lungs.
Sirius looked like he was trying to contain his anger. Red as a tomato. But also trying to contain his tears.
"I HATE YOU, DO YOU HEAR ME!" Sirius yelled as he tried to get closer and hurt Regulus again presumably. Though Remus was holding him back.
"Sirius..."
"I DON'T EVER WANT TO SEE YOU, AGAIN!!"
And it hurt like hell to listen to those words from Sirius’s mouth. Regulus swallowed his tears as he tried to contain himself from telling the truth. He wanted to cry and hug his brother. He wanted to tell him he was sorry. That he couldn't keep up with this. That he gave up.
But someone had to do this. Someone had to stop Orion from being a dick and save Sirius. Even save Walburga even though she probably didn't deserve it. Like Regulus had told Barty, someone had to do something to break that family and company down. And Regulus had to be the one. Not a coward anymore, ha?
"The feeling is mutual" Regulus managed to stay under his breath.
He noticed how Remus turned to look at him with shock and disappointment. He noticed how Sirius got even more angry.
However he ran. Regulus got out of that classroom before things got worse. And Sirius actually killed him.
He stopped outside the door though, to let out a few sobs he had been containing inside.
And he heard Sirius’s retaliation with the chairs and whatever he had around to break. Remus tried to calm him down.
"Sirius!.... Sirius, stop!... SIRIUS.. Hey... Hey..."
Finally, Regulus heard his brother breaking down crying in his boyfriend's arms. The latter whispering words of consolation.
"I've lost him, Moony.... I've lost him..."
"It's okay... It's okay, love"
Regulus silently cried as well.
Sirius could hate him. But if the plan worked, Sirius was going to be free and he was going to be able to live in peace the life he always wanted. With Remus. With Potter and the rest of his friends. With his new family.
And seeing Sirius happy would make Regulus secretly happy.

Sup bitches im back
currently snowing where I am so thought I'd make a cute lil cozy fluffy fix for ya'll (plus, who doesn't like those)
Hope you all are well, I recently got sick and finally am rid of whatever sort of illness it was. but I'm just gonna get into the swing of things again now that I'm better so what better way to do that than write a fic for ya'll
but anyway, enjoy!
Sirius didn't know what this feeling was. A sort of misplacement.
It happened every few weeks or months, where Sirius would wake up and not feel right in his bones. As if his soul was uncomfortable in his body.
It wasn't like the regular winter or autumnal melancholy, but a deeper feeling than that. It weighed him down for however long it stuck around, dragging within him like some sort of ball and chain.
You could usually tell when it happened, the symptoms were pretty obvious. He was less energetic and wasn't in on any pranks or mischief making, he ate less and dressed more proper instead of his usual mushed up look, and either avoid the others like the plague or follow them around like a helpless puppy.
He rarely ever talked to anyone about it (as far as Remus knew) except for James. He would wordlessly crawl into James' bed when he felt the need to and they would talk (so he presumed, they always put up a silencing spell. He used to wish he could know what they talked about behind those curtains, to be included in their mystery conversatios. It hurt sometimes how Sirius would hide away all of the things he found ugly about himself and only show them to people he truly trusted. Of course, those memories were years ago, before they had even started dating so now he got to see plenty of Sirius' parts. Both the good and bad.)
On days or nights he felt that sense of longing or depression, he would crawl into Remus' bed and they'd talk or not talk. Whatever Sirius needed at the time.
This time was one where he wanted to talk. It was morning before classes and the others had already left. Remus was never a morning person so he stayed and slept in, snoozing his alarm every few minutes.
Sirius walked over and opened his curtains timidly. Remus turned and looked before smiling.
"Can I come in?" Sirius murmured. Remus nodded and rolled over to open the blankets for Sirius to crawl into which he did gladly.
"You wanna talk or jus' 'ere for a cuddle?" Remus slurred, blinking awake.
"Both?" Sirkha shrugged. Remus wrapped his arms around Sirius' shoulders, ducking his face into his shoulder to hug him. They stayed like that before Remus pulled back.
"M'kay, what's up?" Remus asked, resting his head on his pillow but remaining eye contact.
"I don't really know, I just-" Sirius sighed, looking away. "How do you feel upset about something that you don't feel upset about?"
"Like, I feel sad about my body right now but my head knows I'm hot and I have no reason to dislike myself but I do." Sirius explained, looking up at him.
Remus paused, letting the air settle. "Feelings and emotions can be confusing. Sometimes you can't control or rationalize them. They can be wildly incorrect but you still feel them not matter how you much you try to rid of them." Sirius looked away again. "And that's okay." Remus turned his face so that he'd look him in the eye. "Sometimes the best thing you can do is just feel, even if that's all you can do."
"No one's gonna judge you for being human and not loving yourself all the time." Remus smiled.
Sirius gave a small smile back. "What's bothering you this time?" Remus asked.
"Just my scars," Sirius replied, tracing up and down Remus' arm as he spoke. "Memories of how I get them, the pain I experienced as I got them, the house." Sirius shuddered slightly, shaking his head. "God, the house."
"I understand." Sirius knew he did but felt glad to be reassured. "My scars get to me too."
"Yeah, but, your scars are badass!" Sirius said immediately. Remus eyerolled but he was smiling. "Yours are like battle scars, they make you even hotter. Mine are just evidence of where I came from."
"If anything your scars are "battle scars", with all the fighting you and your mother had." That got a chuckle out of Sirius. "Mine are self-induced and you know that." Remus aimed a poke for Sirius' middle. Sirius swatted away his hand.
"Don't be mean."
"Don't be such a grouch." Remus snarked back, poking him again.
"Don't tickle me." Sirius grabbed his hands, or tried to.
"Oh, sorry, was I tickling you?" Sirius grinned and rolled over, hiding his face.
"You know you were, you meanie!" He said into the pillow.
"Can't help it, you're too fun to mess with." Remus leaned in and spoke in Sirius' ear, hands moving to wiggle against his sides.
"Rehemus!" Sirius shouted, arms slamming down to protect his sides.
Remus only grinned and continued. Sirius flipped over to properly defend himself but only succeeded in revealing more spots for Remus to "torture".
"No, wait, don't!" He laughed as Remus pinched along the bottom of his stomach. He threw his head back and cackled, hands weakly hitting Remus in the arms and shoulders.
"Hm? Don't what Padfoot? Honestly you're making no sense right now." Remus tutted, kissing the corner of Sirius' outstretched mouth.
"Tickle me! Don't tihihickle me!" Sirius giggled, yelling when Remus slipped his hands underneath his loose sleep shirt.
"Tickle you? Well if you insist." Remus shook his head and drilled his fingers into the bottom of Sirius' ribs, kissing different places his mouth could find. Sirius was lost in his own mirth, back arching, squeaking all the while squirming like mad.
Remus backed off and just trailed his fingertips across Sirius' sides lightly. He tugged up his shirt to inspect the scar that ran across Sirius' side, three prosice lines cut evenly on his left side, his mother's doing. He traced the lines a few times till Sirius caught his breath.
"You're an awful boyfriend." Sirius scowled, but there was amusement in his eyes. Remus only laughed and kissed him again.
"Better?" Remus raised his eyebrows.
"No, but I'll accept your measly apology for now because we have class in twenty minutes." They both hopped up from the bed.
"But I expect a hundred more later!" Sirius shouted from the bathroom. Remus shook his head in the moment but fulfilled Sirius' request and some.
Hope you liked!

trigerring marauders fans: i despise fanon marauders. this is more like my opinion on the fans rather than the fandom itself but anyways.
i. characters were ruined.
firstly, our main characters: the 4 marauders themselves. why does every single body in this fandom believe they are all gay. remus and james are canonly straight. i despise the fact that people believe regulus & james are true loves and wolfstar is basically canon when in reality the canon thing is jily and remadora. i may not like jily but at least i can accept the fact that it's canon. people go as far as saying you're homophobic when the only thing you said is "i dislike wolfstar" (based on true events). hated how the fanon marauders had zero personality and were treated like gods who only had a small flaw and that is bullying a person that had gone through enough hardship at home and the only reason it started was that snape wished to be in slytherin.
secondly, the not-much-screentime-but-still-important: lily evans. all i have to say is: she is canonly straight and died before taylor swift was even born so she would never get the chance to become a swiftie like yall's "headcanons".
thirdly, the this-was-entirely-made-up: the bunch of barty crouch jr., regulus black, evan rosier (i forgot his name but its that evan guy), pandora lovegood (she was mentioned for half a second in the books), dorcas meadowes, frank & alice longbottom, mary mcdonald. these are the people that were mentioned in the books for half a second and yall made them a whole alternative universe where evan rosier and barty crouch are dating and then theres mary/lily or dorcas/lily or mary/dorcas and all that. sometimes i appreciate yall's creativity.
ii. the fans
here is a list that will automatically get you hatred from 99.9% of the fandom:
being against wolfstar
being against jegulus
being against mary/lily or dorcas/lily or mary/dorcas (idk their ship names)
shipping remadora because rEmUs LoVeS sIrIuS!!!
saying characters such as lily, james, remus were canonly straight.
disliking the swiftie lily headcanon
shipping snily
being a snape fan
i can go on for three years but this is getting long so lets just go to my next point.
iii. the bullying of snape
stfu and stop excusing every single action james & sirius did to snape because "tHeY wErE kIdS!!" did you know snape was also their age? sure they grew up to be more mature but that surely does not mean their past actions should go down the drain and disappear like it was never there. james and sirius literally hung him upside down, was partially the reason why snape lost his only friend, hung snape upside down for their own entertainment, making snape face even more hardships at hogwarts when he was looking forward to escape his abusive household (just because he wanted to be in slytherin).
that is all for today, now thank you for coming to my ted talk.

laurie have you ever pondered on what jarty might look like in your boxer au. i’m just very curious about the dynamic between those versions of them in general (i wuv u 🫶🫶🐛)
SAINTS SWEETHEART HI <333
yes i have!! mostly bc they interact a lot in the fic and also bc of all the foursome talk there was about jeggy + rosekiller a while ago!!
james and barty hate each other with a Passion in the boxer au. it's raw and visceral and personal, even though there's no History between them. they didn't have a fight that made them become enemies or have some sort of diagreement. they just don't like each other, fundamentally
sirius and james also heavily dislike each other in this fic, but it's not as bad. they argue a lot but they can still pretend in front of the cameras, even if it can feel slightly strained occassionally. they're also Respectful when they get on the ring. sure, they taunt each other and fight with all their might, but neither of them plays dirty or breaks any rules. between barty and james is the complete opposite, they can't do interviews together and their matches tend to get cancelled midway through. that, or they both end up straight disqualified
i think they have more in common than they think, but their core traits or like . the strongest parts of their personalities clash very directly, and the personas they wear publicly kind of represent what they both hate the most??? like, james is arrogant to the point it's obnoxious, but he's charming and extroverted and loves having everyone's attention on him. while barty is also arrogant, but doesn't brag as much as james does, he's more reserved and . aggressive, doesn't do well with ppl and he doesn't give a fuck about what other think of him or about curating his image to appeal to the masses. james thinks barty is an asshole and not really a good person and barty thinks james is fake and hollow and a liar. but they don't actually Know each other
i have a hard time seeing them working romantically. i wouldn't say it's impossible, but it'd be . very complicated and frustrating and it wouldn't be healthy at all. they also wouldn't have a conventional relationship i feel like. they're always trying to one up each other and they fight over literally everything and james lets himself be controlled by anger way too easily, while barty, despite being sort of?? comfortable with conflict?? and enjoying chaos is a lot better at keeping his cool and getting the upper hand in that way. there would a lot of imbalance between them and that would drive both of them up the wall. both of them want to be in control at all times
that being said, there is a certain sexual tension between them. they hate each other so bad that it turns into Want sometimes, they just repress it or deny it to themselves, bc that's basically their arch nemesis, they're supposed to want them dead, not bent over a table you know?
if reg or evan weren't in the picture i feel like that sexual tension would remain unresolved for a lot longer, but they'd still fuck at some point. maybe even become some sort of twisted fuck buddies idk. they do have a lot of sexual chemistry, but they're both Proud and Stubborn so it'd be a long, exhausting process to get them to a point in which . they find their footing when it comes to sleeping together
evan and reg being there completely erases the possibility of their dynamic turning romantic, but it makes their possible Fucking more accessible?? surprisingly lmao. bc their respective partners give them the excuse to seek each other out (reg is down for either a foursome or a threesome, simply bc it's barty, and evan isn't actually interested but gets off on barty being turned on + watching him so he'd agree too). and having intermediaries would also help to keep them in check and aid them in finding how they can work while having sex aka barty tops, but they switch it a bit when it comes to dom/sub dynamics, since they're capable of both but have a clear preference to being the dom (that's another thing, until reg doesn't top james for the first time and he finds out he's actually very into it he would've never allowed barty to top him. that, or it would've taken him A While)

Helloo! ok this has nothing to do with the aks game but since you happen to be one of my favourites for Sirius hcs I have to ask you. I can't recall Sirius and Harry ever hugging in the books, though they're really close. What do you think about it? Is it just because Harry isn't so much into physical touch anyway, bc I doubt that Sirius knew. I only remember Molly and Hermine once hugged him to comfort him. But if I am correct Harry not even hugs Sirius when they have to say goodbye or they haven't seen each other for a long while although Harry misses him so much. It only happens in the movies. What do you think says that about their relationship and their characters? What could be the reason and so on?
Hello, dear!!! That was a very interesting question, and I now spent my time rereading the Sirius and Harry moments throughout the books (and having a few very emotional moments because of it).
Hugging, and generally bodily contact is something dealt out rarely in the books, and like you said Mrs Weasley and Hermione are most likely to do so. Both hug Harry on a pretty regular basis, both for comfort and just in greeting and saying goodbye.
My reply is going to be a bit longer, and I haven't looked up everything so, many things are just from my memory, just a fair warning.
Alright, so.
The men in Harry Potter don't typically share a lot of positive physicality. They shake hands, they punch each other, and then theres the Quidditch celebrations, in which everyone hugs and cries. All very acceptable and heterosexual ways for men to share physicality, especially in the 90s, I'd say.
Other moments when people, men in particular, become physical, Harry considers those oversteps, and usually feed into his dislike of them - Rita, Lockhart, Slughorn and Barty Jr (still looking like Moody) come to mind for this. And these moments stand out, because Harry doesn't often touch people, and doesn't often has people touch him, much less people he doesn't know.
Sirius is an outlier. As he ought to be, and always is.
Sirius is first introduced to us, in the Shack, with an extraordinary amount of physicality. He of course mauls Ron - but it doesn't stop there. Harry attacks him with his hands, punching and strangling him, while thinking how much he wants to cause him harm with his hands. This is followed by Crookshanks, who uses Sirius' chest as a couch in his attempt to shield him, and then Remus, who pulls Sirius into a hug. This right there is more physicality than we see ever again between such a small group of people and animals.
Srius also holds onto Harry the entire time that Harry tells Dumbledore about the happenings of the Graveyard, and even when Harry describes the grip as painful, he never expresses discomfort with it. He pats Padfoot as well. They share physicality for comfort at least sometimes. And generally more often than Harry does with anyone else.
Still, their meetings and partings are often very tumultuous - first in the shack, then they barely have time to say goodbye because Sirius has to flee and Harry and Hermione have to get back to the hospital wing. Then, they meet while Sirius is a dog in Hogsmeade, and part when Harry is in the hospital wing. Sirius gets sent into war, basically right there, where all the Weasleys, Snape and Dumbledore surround them. When they meet again in GP12, Sirius is coming from a meeting and quiets his mothers portrait. Also not ideal. What I find interesting here, is that Harry is highly disappointed about this welcome. He had hoped for more, for warmth, had even expected it. So when Sirius is stressed out and depressed, it confuses and disappoints Harry.
I actually think that Sirius realises that in a second, because thereafter he doesn't hold back - where he can. Which is obviously not much because he is in yet another depression prison from hell.
But there are two moments in which they actually do hug. One time at Kings Cross - Padfoot gets on his hindlegs to put his forepaws on Harry's shoulders; and then at the end of the Christmas holidays - in what is described as a quick side-hug.
So that is a small compilations of all the moments of hugs and physicality between them I could find, which might be more than you remember, possibly because they're far more touchy in the movies, but in general I do think they have a pretty positive and touch forward relationship, in comparison to what Harry has with other people...
So, I think there's my answer. I hope this makes sense? <3

i left this on your tellonym as well but why do you think we've babygirled barty and evan but not bellatrix for example i try hard not to use words like misogyny but i cant think of anything else and need your thoughts
p.s congrats on 11k!
okay so i'll give my thoughts BUT i wanna preface by saying that i don't think i've ever read a bella fic so i have no idea how she's portrayed in centric fics
i think the first thing is just,,, she killed sirius 🤷‍♂️
and like yeah, barty attacked the longbottoms but sirius is a BIG part of the fandom, obviously. i think it puts a lot of us off of engaging with her because we'd have to try and emphasise? sympathise? justify? whichever term you prefer! i just think it would be harder if she killed one of our faves.
which also! we know i like pete and i can see the potential double standards there BUT we have evidence that pete was their friend. we know he was a good person at first, we have no idea about bella. we have no idea what she was like pre-DE, we do however know she was a DE and she killed sirius, and that makes it harder to (insert preferred term x)
building upon thattt, @courfee made this next point in a comment of my tt today (sorry, i'm stealing it 😖😖)
we have more canon info about bella than barty and evan !! so we have that grey space to look into motivations or reasons, or even to just explore their characters more. there's more space to play with them but we have a lottt of lore about bella and that restricts us a lot more (esp if we're talking about "babygirling" which btw, i dislike that term but i get it so yeah, if we're talking about "babygirling" it'd be harder with a character we know so much about but don't approve of any of it)
my finalllll point is just,,, sometimes we dislike characters 🤷‍♂️ like i know i do all my yaps and they seem very put together but a lot of the time my opinions are just like "yeah it could be this but also MEHHHH i just like it/dislike it" and i sit and think about it before filming. generally i'm just floating around clueless and engaging with whatever i like with an empty head 😭
no thoughts, head empty, just vibes
bella as a character is just one that i don't like. so i don't engage. head empty. not because she's a woman, i just don't like her character.
i never know how to end yaps on here 😭 yolo. okert. slay.

Sirius' Weird Taste
Sirius has very peculiar taste - which is good and thankfully he doesn't make that a big part of his personality but you can see it just with Remus, who at an early point of their relationship really considered if Sirius wasn't dating him because of his lycanthropy. After all he has a lot of scars and this affected his whole appearance since he got it very young. He isn't attractive by popular standards although he is tall but too lanky for it to look natural and his skin has some dents from the scars even when it heals back to his natural skin colour. He also has too much hair, be it facial or anywhere else, and whether it's natural or not too much wrinkles and eyebags for his age. It has happened that students took him as a new professor if he wasn't wearing his school's robes.
His point is that by all standards Remus would be considering ugly, something he has stopped saying at loud because every single one of his friends would bemoan or scold him and come up with senseless arguments. He will never know if he would have looked any different without the bite so he learnt to deal with it but it still leaves the question on how Sirius Black ever fell for him. Remus isn't stupid or oblivious like he might like to act time to time which is why he is fully aware that Sirius is smitten with him - despite everything; although Remus honestly can't judge him on that because if Sirius is down for him then Remus is so far down he might fall off the earth for Sirius.
Sirius has assured him many times that he doesn't like Remus for his lycantropy - which is a bit of rude question when we just snogged twice Moony - and that even without his fancy scars he would bend over for him. All his friends have helped him make peace with his werewolf counterpart, Sirius particularly, but only because they are the same person with just one side more moody - but you give Moony a fair opponent, Sirius said before kissing him.
Remus has learnt all Sirius' whims and his likes or dislikes - how he dresses up like a bloody deity before bringing the ugliest looking sweater ever as a gift because of how amazingly ugly it is which is why it's pretty? He also noticed how Sirius likes crups or hippogriff, always trying to pet them with compliments, but what really seems to really make him go is the weirdest things. The first time Sirius saw a platypus at the zoo, one of their dates, he couldn't stop laughing and yet didn't want to move on - Who cast a spell on it? What is it supposed to be? Why did you pick that nose and short legs you dimwit? You look silly. Let's get one!
Murtlap? Sirius insults them over their 'haircuts' and 'why are you still naked you twat' as he fed and pet them in their Care of Magical Creatures class. Which is surprisingly not him making fun of them but just his weird way of loving them, with silly insults and teasing.
Remus has realised it is exactly how Sirius and Regulus act with each other so the insults really must be just obscure petnames. So Remus supposes that sometimes that's how Sirius just show his love; it's not like they never insulted each other before and while kissing or cuddling.
So Remus is used to Sirius' surprising taste even if he can't always predict them. Like this weird-shaved cat that he proudly shows him. It looks like it came back from war but not in one piece with how odd its black dark grey fur looks to the touch and some spots almost completely naked. You could easily think that someone did it because the poor cat has no fur around his eyes and mouth.
"What is that supposed to be?"
"It's a werewolf cat."
"What?"
"It looks incredible, doesn't it? I know we are dog people but I love her and she is very sweet," Sirius explains as the cat rubs herself against his chin. "The muggles call them werewolf cats because of how rugged they look so I thought she fits perfectly for us. Also sometimes she will be butt-naked because she moults but we don't want a pervert prancing in our home so I'm going to make her clothes."
So they call her Garou - because we have a theme Moony - and she is very sweet with Remus, rubbing, slow-blinking and all at him - because you are related - even if he almost got a heart attack when he went to the loo in the middle of the night and she stood there like a dead animal ressurected. While Sirius and Garou spend their time badmouthing each other, or at least he supposes because Garou likes to meow whenever Sirius talks about her. What did I tell you about strutting around naked? Oh you don't speak to me like that you bald lady. If you didn't look already homeless I would throw you out.
Sirius tries to teach her to attack Regulus but somehow James becomes her prey. Sirius also goes out with her, walking or shopping, throwing dark looks at anyone who looks at them weirdy.
Remus finds no reason to complain and if anything he is more amazed and amused every time.

(tw bullying) Sometimes I go to the anti-snape tag bc I want some variety in opinions, and I don't really have an issue with people disliking Snape...he's not a nice person.
But then I get a post that's like 'Snape deserved to be bullied' and all the variants and it's just...look, "Snape was and awful person" and "Snape didn't deserve to be bullied" are not mutually exclusive. And just bc Snape was a lousy nasty teacher as an adult doesn't mean he was that way as a kid.
I think it's just a specific minority that thinks this stuff*, and granted, there is a very strong slant in HP that leans towards the Marauders* but it just kills any desire I have to read further, even if I block whoever said it.
*(for the sake of the post and all new readers, I'll give the summarized version: Almost every time we hear about something the Marauders do to Snape, we quickly get the Marauder's 'Snape did something to deserve it' POV. Plus we're inclined to like the nicer Marauders vs the nasty teacher Snape).
*I'm trying not to generalize all marauders fans/anti snape people for a variety of reasons.
I completely agree. Despite how headstrong I seem to be about my opinions (which I am), I genuinely am so interested in hearing other people’s opinions and trying to look at the text from their perspectives and interpretations. 😭 I feel like my followers have no idea how balanced I can be during arguments bc y’all mostly just see me focusing on the negative aspects of the characters I hate (because to me, that overshadows the positive aspects of their character). For each character I hate, there’s almost always a long process of how I came to hate them, watching/reading the entirety of the show/movie(s)/book(s), forming an opinion about the character throughout the series, reading other people’s analyses of said character and how they interpreted certain things the character did, finally concluding whether I love/hate/dislike/get irritated by/etc this character, and then try to build a balanced take on them for later discussions.
Sorry that got long 😭 I just wanted to explain to y’all that I really love meeting people who have different/more neutral opinions than I do so I can learn about them 💀 anyway-
Like I said, I agree with you, I enjoy reading a variety of mixed opinions and seeing other people’s perceptions of a character I feel strongly about (be it positive or negative). But I seriously hate when Snaters always dramatise their hatred (emphasis on always, bc sure I can be dramatic too BUT AT LEAST I ACTUALLY ANALYSE SCENES AND EXPLAIN WHY SAID CHARACTER SUCKS) and over-exaggerate every single thing he does, they always make it hard to be civil and calm when reading their posts 😭 And when they call him Snivellus, make childish and hurtful jokes about his appearance, and try to actually JUSTIFY all the trauma he went through? That’s a no-no. I may hate a lot of characters, but I would never actively try to justify what they went through (throwback to that one Snape fan who tried to say Sirius wasn’t abused and was just mistreated 🤢 so gross and disrespectful) nor would I pretend that it doesn’t play a part in how the character turned out later on. Snaters fail to realise that “this character was abused” and “this character is a shitty person/a bully” can coexist, they hardly even register that his being abused at childhood was most definitely a contributing factor in how he turned out as an adult (which even the simplest of minds can realise).
*I'm trying not to generalize all marauders fans/anti snape people for a variety of reasons.
Lol it’s okay anon, your clarification isn’t necessary. I think we all know that not everyone from the Marauders fandom acts like that. Usually, if one were to look at your ask and think “ok but not all of us!! you’re generalising! *starts attacking us*”, then that would be a pretty tell-tale sign of low intelligence. 💀
Thanks for the ask, love! Have a great day.

unpoular opinion (maybe?)
the marauders fandom sometimes lacks nuance in the way the marauders are portrayed as the "good guys" and snape is completely bad. i hate snape personally but erasing the good in him (and there HAD to be some good for lily to put up with him for that long) just takes the nuance out of it in my opinion. for me, i dislike snape because i think the bad in him heavily outweighs the good and i hate the way he treats people and his overall personality just sucks
but similarly, making james overly perfect does the same thing!!! i think some people equate morality and likability a little too much. but sirius is usually done very well, i love how people don't shy away from his flaws
ooooh INTERESTING anon i think i agree with u!
like. personally i do not like snape and don't think i ever will but i agree that flattening the characters into a black and white "snape evil marauders good" is just. not very compelling storytelling.
i actually think it's really interesting to explore lily's relationship with snape and why she stayed friends w him for so long even tho he was a shitty person. for me personally i relate snape a lot to a certain type of boy i was friends with when i was a teenager, who was disenfranchised in some area of life (for snape it's class + blood status) and yet thanks to patriarchal messaging still felt as though he was entitled to like....more power in the system. and so there was this slowly growing resentment as he grew older that made him susceptible to right-wing ideas. and the thing about this type of boy is that i think for someone who's close with him, it can be very difficult to come to terms with the fact that he's become a shitty person, especially if he's always treated you like you're special and especially if you've seen the way he's struggled with his own disenfranchisement. u start to think "oh no he would never be like that" bc u think ur both on the same side of the line, both oppressed by this larger system, and u don't realize until it's too late that he doesn't want to dismantle the system, he just wants to claw his way up within it. a lot of times u feel like u can save him bc u see the good in him so it has to be there, and u don't realize that the only reason he's "good" to u is that he views u as a special exception to a group of people he actually looks down on, and that when push comes to shove he will reveal his true colors.
i think snape is a much more interesting character when he's written not as someone who was inherently evil but rather someone who was shaped into a bad person by the world around him. i still interpret him as a pretty unequivocally shitty person, but what i find compelling is the fact that he didn't have to end up that way, and bc of that his story mirrors a lot of irl men + boys who get sucked into alt-right pipelines bc they feel beaten down by the world in other areas of life. of course that is just my take on it but! on the whole regardless of how one interprets characters i find it more compelling to acknowledge that the potential for good + bad exists equally within everyone rather than acting like some people are 100% good and others are 100% bad
