i wish prsk had a more media literate fanbase that was willing to read, analyse characters and process complex topics; even if the official writing itself isn't all that good

mizuki's latest event (road of thorns) was handled amazingly and i wish they would've done the same with light up the fire / an4. but that's another story.

on to the main point: mizuki's trans writing. it's always 'that's a crossdresser' 'mizuki is gender nonconforming' 'you're reinforcing stereotypes',... every excuse under the sun to deny good representation. mizuki's story is such an obvious trans narrative and has been for years, denying it either means that you don't want to comprehend the stories or just indirectly transphobic.

mizu5 was a double-edged sword. it gave people the chance to actually read a story out of love for such a well-written, lovable trans character and the writers poured their all into such a nuanced topic that deserves to be handled with care. it had such a big impact that even those who knew nothing about prsk prior to this event would be able to understand and sympathise with mizuki's trans journey.

on the other hand, there were still people unable to accept her identity and going to lengths to prove mizuki isn't trans even when the writing shoves it in your face over the course of 4 entire years. it's not even subtext at this point.

it's also pretty obvious this would be the first time majority of the fanbase has read a story, because there were definitely questionable takes. but all in all, i could only hope people were more willing to give the stories a chance (although prsk writing isn't stellar) and be able to set out their own interpretations, analyses,... for the characters/

someone could write pages and pages and pages and pages on elu thingol's life. he could be the protagonist of like five book trilogies each with 600 words per book. he was born in cuivienen where the first non-divine life awakened; he lived through morgoth's earlier attempts to corrupt the elves and very likely lost people he cared about to them; he witnessed the war of the powers; he was among the first of his people to see valinor, having visited it under the invitation of the deities who helped originate the universe; he was the sole flesh-and-blood being in all!! of!!! history!!!! who met, fell in love with, and married a goddess that was there before creation even existed; he and said goddess were the progenitors of a unique bloodline that produced some of the legendarium's most famous figures; he separated from his brother for a very very long time; he was so loved by his people that they refused paradise if he wasn't there with them; he fought battles against morgoth's forces and saw loss as well as triumph during those battles; he was one of the oldest beings and longest-reigning kings in all of beleriand, not to mention he ruled its most ancient and most mystical, otherworldly kingdom; he was the father of two of the most famous heroes in-verse, whose deeds and stories continued to be told millennia after their deaths; he was again the first!! and!!! only!!!! elf-king in all of history to adopt a human as his own son. and throughout it all, he has a cohesive character arc. he grows to respect a people whom he once distrusted and looked down on; he comes to accept the choices of those he cares about even if he doesn't agree with said choices; he has to learn to let go of his loved ones no matter how much it grieves him. if those five trilogies existed i would be reading and rereading every single one obsessively

MILITECH MEDS/STIMS THYJS TOOK DURING SERVICE:

Not so long ago I sat down and thought about which drugs/stims Thyjs had to make use of during his career and service at Militech EU/Benelux Union/KCT, researching the CP lore about said stuff and thought I should make a post with it here as well since I've only posted it in discord. Maybe some of you are intersted in it as well.

Beware it's a lot of text (as always).

FYI: I headcanon that Militech EU/Benelux Union in 2077 has developed forward in topics of developing combat drugs for their soldiers. In the past to benefit in operations/wars the military gave their soldiers experimental drugs that made the soldiers highly psychologically addictive to them, often resulting in them getting cyberpsychosis. I also headcanon it might still be common in the NUSA but for EU Militech is a bit different: so Thyjs was being watched and cared for as Militech and especially Netherland’s Royal Army/KCT saw a huge value in their special force soldiers so they did everything to prevent especially cyberpsychosis. That being said, Thyjs received high treatment after each operation, depending on how nerve wracking and physically draining it has been for him and how often he had to make use of said drugs of the following list:

Militech Combat Drugs

These drugs are highly illegal on the market and only restricted quantities are available to the NUSA military (and Militech Mercs). It’s known that Militech has made these combat drugs available to any military force in the world that can meet their price. It would be extremely difficult for any normal (non-military) person to obtain these drugs legally. A near impossible streetwise check or a very difficult streetdeal check could be made to obtain a single dose of one of these drugs at triple the cost.

///Prime¹

This drug narrows the user’s concentration down to a highly focused point and eliminates extraneous emotion, making the user extremely cold and rational. An average testing of the user’s vitals should be made when the drug wears off. Failure indicates that the user has not made a successful transition to an unprimed state. The user is distracted and finds it difficult to concentrate. Increases; enhanced perception Benefits; better awareness/notic Duration; up to 24h Side Effects; possible lack of Concentration after wearing off ———

This is the drug I imagine Thyjs must have taken the most if not almost daily during active service (does not include off duty), so it explains why he lost emotions. He might have experienced a need/mild addiction for taking them each day due to the lack of concentration setting in when having time off his duty. He is more or less forced to discontinue taking them when he runs out of his packages/doses left he took with him on the NUSA job. Without them he will experience a huge loss of concentration in the first weeks, which is why he will get distracted by daily life noises in Nighty City when he doesn’t use them anymore. His medtech will prescribe him something else for lack of concentration, that does not result in addictiveness as Thyjs does not have access to Militech drugs anymore since he’s officially announced as deceased. They will help him with his concentration while he tries to get used to daily life. Chance is high he has to take them life long.

///Timewarp¹

Timewarp sharpens the reflexes of the user and enhances reaction time to an inhuman level. After a dose of Timewarp wears off, the user should make a difficult entire body and cyberware check. Failure indicates that the character takes damage from body overstress. Increases; reaction time and stamina, (headcanon; increases Thyjs’ fastness with Sandevistan as in he can ‘warp’ more times than usual) Benefits; inhuman reflexes Duration; 2-3h Side Effects; no feel of hunger and thirst, possible internal bleeding after wearing off ———

This is the drug I imagine Thyjs did made use of when he needed his Sandevistan to be active more than usual. It’s not recommended to take it often as it causes internal bleeding as he overstresses his entire body with it due to making him super fast (why you experience he’s warping). He was carefully instructed with the usage of it and is aware of the side effects. He had to make frequent use of it in the past though, so after that he was strictly ordered to rest for weeks including difficult check ups in nearby Militech hospitals to be sure he didn’t take any damage from it, while they also especially checked and repaired his Sandevistan cyberware as it also took damage by being overused. He experienced numbness in his extremities while his Sandevistan took damage as it replaced his entire spine (yes it’s not just placed over and connected to his spine, it’s a 100% cyberware replacement).

Trauma Drugs

Manufactured and distributed by Trauma Team International, these trauma drugs are designed to meet the needs of any field medic. No good medtech would be caught without them. Available in liquid form for use in air hypos or as a single dose slap patch. These drugs are legally available to licensed medical personnel. They can also be obtained illegally with an average streetdeal check or a difficult streetwise check. If obtained illegally, prices are doubled

///Surge¹

This drug acts like endorphins. The patient receives a burst of energy and can ignore the need for food and sleep and receives endurance and more strength. The patient's stats will be halved after the drug wears off until he receives at least five hours of sleep. Increases; endurance, allowing the user to stay alert for longer periods Benefits; potent painkiller; wound level is treated as if less Duration; 3-4h Side Effects; feeling weak/powered out, chance of mental delusions ——

///Trauma¹

This drug is administered when the patient is in a mortal wound state. For the duration of the drug, death saves are three times easier. This drug is usually applied by non-medical personnel or even the patient himself since stabilization is always a better course of action. Benefits; potent painkiller; less loss of blood Duration; 6-8h Side Effects; loss of consciousness, mental delusions ———

Thyjs is not a field medic but he was of course educated in first aid and constantly took lessons to refresh his knowledge and the utilization in case the medic would not be near so he could help either himself or a mate until the medic of his platoon arrived. Therefore every soldier was given some Trauma drugs in their kit they had to carry on their belt.

Lazarus Combat Drugs

Officially, Lazarus will neither confirm nor deny the use of combat drugs by its troops. It is, however, widely rumored to be a common practice among mercenary corporations. Two drugs in particular have been associated with Lazarus troops: The first is Dialacopamine (also known as Spotlight). The other is a 'dorph and aggressiveness booster made by Sturm-Schaller SA in Germany, called Lapazole LM (known on the streets as HappyKill), which is a lethal combat drug, dangerous and addictive (Thyjs didn’t get this). HappyKill was tested on Lazarus troops for a while, then discarded as too dangerous. There is a black market among the troops, and it still pops up from time to time.

///Dialacopamine a.k.a. Spotlight²

A fairly benign awareness heightening drug, produced by Biotechnica, known on the streets as Spotlight. It is popular with special ops troops on infiltration and ambush missions. Increases; wareness skills Duration; 5h Side Effects; repeated use includes a 50% chance of psychological addiction and a 10% chance of nerve degeneration per dose after the 5th usage. ———

Now this is not exactly a Militech drug, yet it is a combat drug used by special ops troops, so I can imagine Thyjs may have used a similar one at least one time (maybe even twice) during high risk spec op missions executed by KCT. I read the ‘per dose after the 5th usage’ as in: you take it a fifth time it definitely causes addiction. So I conclude Thyjs’ entire squad was instructed about the risk of taking this drug so none of them would be allowed to take it more than three times during their service and if they took it they needed to report it including what they experienced. This was a safety measurement to prevent addiction and up for debating if the soldier could continue or not (ofc there have been cases in the past where soldiers fell into addiction). I also do headcanon once you are in KCT, the chance is high you quit after a few operations — either because you make it out barely alive or because it fucks with you ptsd-wise and in general KCT only accepts the fittest and youngest soldiers in their ranks, both mentally and bodily, so Thyjs would have also only have been in service for a bunch of years (at the time he’s in NUSA he was still an active member, already having served since 2074 which would make it about 4 years in 2078 and that would probably have been his last year).

Also a reason I’m a big fan of ruikasa being in the same class is that like. You have a guy who gets along with everyone & has a reputation for putting a lot of effort into everything he does + a literal genius so I’d like to think that:

A) people will ask tsukasa to join them for group projects & he will either be like “I’m with rui sorry” (hasn’t even asked rui yet) if it’s groups of two or he’ll be like “oh you can join me and rui :)” if it’s a larger group

B) At the start of the year people tried to join them for group projects assuming they could just slack off only to realize they’re trapped third wheeling two insane people & the blond one insists that everyone is involved in the project

Tommy has a realisation as he lays down the tarp, taping it down and covering the skirting boards.

Did Wanda and Vis do this? Decades ago, did his parents prepare the walls of this house to be painted?

He could easily believe it, a picture of extreme domestic bliss, newly wed, thinking of the future. Maybe his mother wore her most messed up shirt and pants too, maybe his father balanced the paint lid on his fingers too, getting a glob of paint to lay down a colour sample. Did they ache over the paint finish like he did? How long did it take them to choose the shade?

They clearly went with a rich burgundy, he was still picking out the paint chips to prove it. He was half tempted to just replicate their choices when he started.

But that would feel wrong.

It had felt wrong when he just arranged the kitchen in an order he vaguely remembered, half memory half relying on what was left of the previously decrepit space.

An imitation of the past, just what he wanted, but it rung hollow.

Maybe he’d done it wrong. Maybe it wasn’t meant to be the same ever again.

But that didn’t mean it couldn’t be made his.

Up the Hill

A flyer.

Some poor quality photocopies of a hand scribbled address and time. A garage sale, just a few blocks down from him and Martin.

It could be worth a visit, even just for bed sheets and Tupperware.

A slightly hot early summer day is when he goes, cash in his bag and shoes tied tight. There’s only two other people on the grass out front, only one has the classic fanny pack slung on her hip, she smiles wide at him, waving him over near a tall vanity, a beautiful on at that.

“Hey.”

“Hello, you’re not a familiar face, hear about this through Facebook or something?” Her accent is so New Jersey that he can’t help but smile.

“Nope, got a flyer. Can I ask, is the sale only the stuff outside?”

“Oh goodness no, we’ve got so much to get rid of, we’ve got the garage set up, and just the first two rooms, anything with a sticker is for sale. Green is five, pink is ten, orange is fifteen, red is twenty, gold star stickers are anything above. You follow?”

“I follow.” She turns off to right some yard toys, so Tommy goes to jog up the stairs, not much on the lawn interested him. Maybe the long twin dressers and the vanity. Time would tell. There’s more people inside, and it’s only a few seconds until he sees what he’s really after.

Linens.

He didn’t know how passionately he would feel about bedding until he had a house to furnish and maintain, but life was funny like that. They were all in their original packaging, most of them stickered green, some pink, the only things he needed to know was the sizes and if the pillow cases were included. Next to the piles was a large crib, three gold stars stuck over a piece of painters tape.

Admittedly it was beautiful.

“My grandfather hand carved that.” The sale runner was next to him, her hand resting on the frame.

“Why sell it?”

“Got another one on the way, this’ll just take up too much room. Plus, sometimes grandfathers aren’t the nicest. Best to get rid of it.” Tommy had piled five sheet sets into the ones he wanted when he realised the woman’s eyes were burning into the side of his skull. Lifting his eyes brought a tighter look to her.

“We only put up flyers in the neighbourhood. I don’t think I’ve seen you… you do look halfway familiar. What street do you live in?” Tommy got the sense she wouldn’t leave him alone, he could just ignore her.

“Sherwood, up the hill, why do you ask? And can I buy these?” She went over them, telling him the cost, which he handed over.

“Not a lot of houses in Sherwood, not one of them’s been up for sale in decades.” She’s on a hunt for something, it’s obvious.

“2800 Sherwood, there, happy?” He’s intent on zipping out the door when she catches his attention.

“The Maximoff house? You’re sure? The one with the missing boys?” Missing? He and Billy were missing? Was that the story spun after they were taken from their mom?

“Missing boys?”

“Thomas and William, I knew them, they disappeared one day and their parents left soon after. 2800 Sherwood, you’re absolutely sure that’s the one you’re living in?”

“Yes, why?” She’s even closer now, so he backs up. She stares into his eyes, until some sort of realisation dawns on her, but her face scrunches like she can’t be sure.

“Tom? Is that you?”

He’s out the door before she can blink a second time.

Mandolin

Back and forth, back and forth.

The onions fly through the mandolin as he slices them, tub after tub of prepped vegetables are zipped to the front counter, his coworker busy with slotting bread loaves into the ovens, filling the cup towers and prepping the register.

Manual work had been the easiest Tommy could get into, something methodic and simple was a breeze. A quick and clean cut, like the mandolin.

Opening shift was the easiest. Martin usually woke up at ten, so opening at six to leave at nine thirty was convenient, a nice bargain his new employers struck with him. Anyone would trip over themselves to have a speedster on their payroll, no matter the job. His coworker, Ash, got to do any online work and just wait for customers while Tommy used the job as a way to zone out, expel energy and get money.

Back and forth, back and forth.

Back and forth his knife went through the tomatoes, the smells of the cooking meat to his side filling his nose.

Five minutes after Ash flipped the open sign, the bell jingled.

Red Carpet

It’s one at night when he gets woken up, a shout echoing in his ears. He’s all but flung himself out of bed, hopping over dirty laundry and his bag to burst into the hallway, already knocking where to go. Just a few doors down is Martin’s room.

“Master P?” There’s a lamp just by his door for this reason, it goes on and Tommy can see him, breathing heavy, halfway out of bed, a crazed look in his old eyes.

“Hey, P, hey man it’s okay, you’re safe.” He’s in front of the old guy, only slightly wincing at the iron grip that settles on his forearms. The orange lighting from the lamp casts his eyes in a strange shadow as Martin practically glares up at him, but Tommy has done this enough to know it’s not Tommy he’s seeing in his dream. It’s twenty seconds until the man’s face smooths, utter confusion following.

“A bad dream, Martin, you had a bad dream.”

“Nightmare.” The man corrects, softly, looking around his room warily, probably expecting his demons to jump out at him.

It’s late, if he doesn’t get Martin back down for sleep he’ll stay awake for hours, confused and tired. But when he does try to coax him into the sheets, he refuses, nearly growing belligerent so he relents.

He offers him a drink, some sleeping pills, music? And book?

But what comes out in a soft voice is;

“A walk, please.” It’s the middle of the night, he’s got a class to go to, getting active would make it even harder for Tommy to go to sleep, he shouldn’t agree-

“Okay, we’ll go for a walk.”

Less than thirty seconds later, Tommy has shoes and a coat on, Martin the same.

“The carpet should be red.” They’re walking down the hall, the stairs just a ways ahead.

“Why should it be red?”

“A red carpet always made me so happy.”

Is there a list out there of what I like to call mixed/main events? Like how Resounding Twilight Parade is considered a Leo/need event despite being mixed, same thing with Exciting Picnic being a N25 event.

Leo/need currently has the most key story mixed events, with 3. Those being Resounding Twilight Parade (which develops the plot with STANDOUT that was started in Honami's event prior), Singing With You In A World Where Sakura Dance (which develops Ichika's side of that plot leading up to Resonate With You), and In the Corner of A Resonant Town (which covers Shiho's feelings before L/n's one-man show in Get Over It.).

MORE MORE JUMP! has none, but have had some in the past. Beyond Prayers, the Tomorrow We Wish For (where MMJ volunteer as shrine maidens featuring a brief segment covering some of Haruka's past) and Operation♡Secret Valentine! (where Airi helps Saki and Emu make Valentine's treats) were marked as key stories for a few months before having their tags removed, while the recent Airi-centric event, Slapstick cafe ●REC!! (which is about MMJ filming a TV spot at a local cafe), had its tag removed after a few weeks because apparently it was added by mistake. Honestly none of them contribute a huge amount to MMJ's overall plot so removing them is fair. Slapstick cafe probably is most plot relevant despite being the one that was marked as key story by mistake, but the tag being removed probably means it's not very important.

Vivid BAD SQUAD only has one: Ringing Sounds at the Summer Festival. This wasn't marked as a key story until long after it was released, and EN still hasn't received the update which adds the tag. The reason it was retroactively tagged is probably due to covering parts of Akito's backstory, specifically how he got into music, that aren't covered in a unit event.

WonderlandsxShowtime also has one: A Brand New Year! Lion Dance Robot's New Year's Show!. Tsukasa decides to take up acting opportunities outside PXL/WxS at the end of the event, which leads directly into Amidst a Dream, Towards the Shining Stars.

25-Ji, Nightcord de. has 2 mixed event key stories currently, those being Tell Me Your Problems! Exciting Picnic and At This Festival Colored By Twilight. The first one carries on from the end of Secret Distance, developing Mizuki and Ena's relationship before My Footprints, Your Destination, and the latter is where Mafuyu starts to rediscover more of her real self when she gets put on first aid duty at Shibuya festival, which is brought up in later events. Intersecting Melodies, Glowing Warmth used to be tagged as key story, but it was later removed, probably because it was more important to Mafuyu's individual character arc than it was to N25 collectively.
