Callisto, there in the gleam of these lights, is echoing, mirroring the likeness of earth. She would offer compassion, a supply of her patience like the fruit in a grove. She has gifted her alms. She has shared those great valleys of her honey-bled heart. And were she not more mindful, guarding her seasons with a vigilance and care, she will lose herself entirely. She may find herself tilled. Both plundered and wasted and taken for granted... Gale, in a way, might sorely relate.
But he's taking now, isn't he?, no longer a lover to drain of his offerings. His orb croaks in his chest, tempting her over like a hare to a wolf. In truth, she should worry a far less deal about the threat on her mother and ferry her worries more on her.
(Forget it, Gale thinks; he does so all for his sanity. Should ever the time come, you will die with this tempest — alone, not threatening, and far from her.)
"Oh, I must've given you the impression that I'm somewhat charitable—" who'd have thought it! "—but no, I don't simply dole out flattery. Since my coming here this evening, I've offered you only my most forthcoming observations. Were I to start brining you in poetry and all manner of praise," he teases, "believe me—" truly! "—you would know it."
Yet, it seems he's wicked her spirit all the same. Suddenly, her face brightens, and the mood, a little rocky at the start, shifts with an ease to an amiable hum. She's a thing of strange qualities, several parts selfless but several parts mad. She feels to him a talent, all intrigue and fire he could only call daring, and watching, all that hunger to know crackles hotly in her eyes. Perhaps, much the same, that's why she sees him. "Bold? Gosh. And to think I could be so easily read," he jokes, boasting those workings of a smile. "But now thoroughly humbled, perhaps I'm nowhere near as mysterious as I'd originally thought. Of course, there's still every possibility that you've a talent for sleuthing," he adds. "Should you desire a new vocation, you could always go Nancy Drew. I'm sure," as he often is!, "that you'll prove most magical." Funny. Absentmindedly, Gale undoes the first few buttons of his shirt. It's strangely beautiful, that orb, carved in his flesh with all the colors of a battering bruise. It trails all over, veins darkening up toward his neck and left down his arm. He eyes her carefully, vying very much for that air of humor they'd easily brought. Feisty to somber to funny to trusting? Huffing a little, Gale lets her look. "I wasn't sure what I was expecting. Of course you do," he mutters. "It's been, well, quite some time since someone's believed in me so earnestly. I won't soon betray your trust. You have my word."
"As for you, don't let neither my distinguished appearance nor my verbosity fool you. Despite the ironed shirt, I'll have you know that I was -- and still am, depending on you ask -- quite a menace." Why, isn't that a thought? Gale steadies himself, feeling the throbbing of the blight trickle to his nails. Unfortunately, that middling spell achieved abysmally little to smother it mute, but he's abundantly familiar it's knackering by now. Instead, he turns his head so she may follow the veins. "Well, I would never think to detract a devoted young woman, but I'd be remiss were I not to remind you of the option. I could do more than show you, Callisto. I'm a wizard preoccupied with only those marvels that would beggar belief. What I can offer you is a chance to dare possibilities you haven't yet dared to." A chance at things she thought beyond her.
She understands. Oh, she understands.
She has not been young in a long time - the only adult in an apartment where one still resides. He wonders if she is this kind to herself - herself is usually not usually offered any part in the equation. All of her goes to others, and now she's carving out a slice for him. Easy as that, no questions, no reservations.
Callisto is relieved, however, when he confirms that the artefact can't just absorb magics straight out of the air. It wouldn't have stopped her helping him, of course - doing her research or inviting him around for observation. It may have just meant that when she did, Jupiter spent the afternoon elsewhere. And should he need it, she's no shortage of magic artefacts sitting around.
"I don't imagine you'll wear anything down. If not for the fact that you've given me something interesting to think about, then the fact that you keep peppering in compliments you think I don't notice makes me want to keep you right in that seat." Still, she is absolutely flattered by his assessment of her skill. As far as Callisto's concerned, the word of someone of his standing goes a long way.
The comment that he's stoked something dangerous in her is simply met with a waggle of eyebrows. Even as a child, Callisto had always had an unquenched desire to know. It was because of that - that headstrong nature - when mixed with magic and the ability to test those boundaries that she'd been homeschooled for as long as she had. "I think you're bold enough to say what you think." There's another comment, but it disappears when he mentions you and yours, because Callisto certainly hadn't mentioned any and yours. She often didn't, with custom clients, because she didn't know them. It should have occurred to her, though. That if Gale could feel her magic, the magic that permeated the store, that he'd be able to tell there was another source of it upstairs. "I believe you." She says after a moment. "I said before I'm not worried I'm unsafe with you, that's still true. You seem like you're going to worry enough for the both of us." She offers a wry smile - and then, because she thinks she needs to, continues. "No one else here will bother you. You probably won't ever see anyone but me, if you're concerned about that."
And if not, then. At least it's laid out on the table for him.
Callisto is pleased to see him relax, now. The proverbial weight off of his shoulders as he smiles, giddy, into his cup of tea. Is that all it took?
"Oh? You'll what, train me? Or just put on a show?" Not that the latter wouldn't be enjoyable, but the first would be much more interesting to her, especially if he was going to offer it as part of the recompense for this. The comment about academia, though, has her ducking her head. Not anything that had ever been in the cards for her, no matter the aptitude he thought she possessed. And was before everything else happened. "Ha. Then I guess she has to keep suffering. If I were to turn to books, who would be here to do this?" Broad grin is back in place, now, the idea not even allowed the time to root. "No, I've gotta stay here. Besides, I don't much think academics would like how little respect I have for stuffy rules."

honestly, i think one of the reasons i can tolerate julian’s early seasons' behaviour towards jadzia is the way he approaches miles in an almost identical way, being annoyingly persistent, desperate for any chance to spend time alone with them, incredibly uncomfortable moments of trying to get miles to use his first name, etc. etc.
and whether I read that as julian having a similar puppy crush on miles as he does on jadzia or interpret it as a platonic desperation to make friends, either way, it at least tells me that for all julians faults (and boy are there plenty to go around—) he at least… isn’t Like That towards jadzia because she’s a woman, y’know? he’s just Like That with everyone because he’s overenthusiastic and lacking in social graces.
like, his behaviour towards jadzia is super uncomfortable and all, but the fact that he then turns around and acts the exact same way to his middle aged male coworker just… it adds something in context that shifts it from “wow julian is really creepy with women” to “wow julian is an idiot with people” for me.
i mean he is still pretty creepy with women a lot of the time and has obvious issues with toxic masculinity but at least his horrendous ‘wear them down until they say yes’ approach is apparently just the only way he seems to have of getting to know people and making friends.
#star trek#star trek ds9#julian bashir#stella talks#.also something about how sisko is like ‘well i knew dax when he was an old man’.#.and julian is just like ‘… yes? does that not make her more attractive to you? why not???’#.like other characters consistently are like ‘geez knowing dax when she was a he must be so uncomfortable for you sisko’.#.and then julian is just absolutely confused as to why that would possibly be an issue for anyone ever.#.<- we should talk about how people react to dax and gender whenever someone tries to pull the bigotry free utopia line.#.because clearly transmisogyny is alive and well in the federation even if it’s much more understated now.#.anyway i was playing an old farming/romance game on the 3ds and there’s this one guy in it.#.and i hated him when i played as a girl because he’s always talking about how pretty you are and calling you darling.#.even if you’ve like… just met him. and i was just immediately like ugh nope stay away from me.#.and then i played as a guy. and he… does the… exact same thing…#.and suddenly i… didn’t hate him anymore because oh. that’s just how he talks to people. oh my god.#.i mean that character is also definitely bisexual as well but.#.like i thought he was a misogynistic flirt but. nope. he covers for akwardness in social situations by talking that way.#.and once i had the context of it being a completely gender neutral behaviour with no ulterior motives attached. well.#.it made me recontextualise everything about the character and i realised i actually really liked him.#.and yeah realising that julian just doesn’t know how to make friends except via brute force does make me view him differently.

Odysseus: demanding Athena take off whatever enchantment she put on him the second the situation ends.
Odysseus: who constantly reminds Athena that he has great plans to grow old and die with his wife so don't even think about getting any ideas.
Odysseus: side eye diomedes who has started fucking glowing he has so many enchantments on him: bro you should talk to Athena about getting those removed. You're going to end up immortal or some shit
Diomedes: who has been a solider since he was 5 who has intersting thoughts about his own personhood who has a much more traditional relationship with Athena and would rather literally stab his own eye out with a rusted sword than speak out of turn: I don't know what you're talking about
#odysseus#Diomedes#Athena#This is more pulling from my own headcanons than any source material#But I have a lot of feelings about the narritive physically changing a character and how well that works with the idea that#Becoming immortal is a slow process more of a slide than an abrupt change#And I have a lot of feelings about diomedes becoming immortal and how odysseus only ever wanted to be a man#And how diomedes was having a much more mortal experience and odysseus experiencing so much magic and monsters and gods#And how every step of the way diomedes only ever politely thanks Athena never argues only does his duty#And how nearly everything odysseus met tried to change him or keep him and how he fought against that with his whole being#Also a lot of feelings about the traditional reward for heros was immortality#This obviously does not include all the times Athena treated odysseus like a barbie doll because ody was 98% not aware of that#Athena post the whole ajax going insane thing: that was fun#Odysseus: great yah super fucking fun love when my allies go mad with desires to torture me to death BTW#Take off the invisibility spell I want nobody trace of it lingering on me I am remaining mortal if it kills me#Athena: definitely not pouting you're no fun one little spell isn't going to permanently alter you#Odysseus: I am not taking any chances any invisibility I have is going to be my own fucking skill and your excellent training not magic#Diomedes: internally:after getting the ability to see through illusions and see gods#Should I mention this to Pallas Athena? Did she mean for me to keep it? Is it bad if I keep using it?#Is it even more disrespectful to not use it? Surely she is aware that I still have this? Golden Wind/Vento Aureo Spoilers
Video Transcript
Bruno: I'll be forced to cut ties with you. A traitor stands alone on an island of isolation. Your failure will be yours and yours alone.
So recently I've decided I really wanted to rewatch golden wind after reading the rest of the parts, and since this time I wanted to give more focus to the animation, I decided to watch it in dub. As a result, when I got to this part in ep3, I realised the dub had elected to change what exactly Bruno had said, stating the words above instead.
This struck me as a bit of a wierd change until I then realised how much this moment foreshadows Fugos 'betrayal' at San Giorgio Maggiore; by having the only one not betraying the boss being the one who suffers what Bruno predicted.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d6e31975c1128e87f75e15c40d1c6f90/a98a544edb3055f1-29/s540x810/0a56ad4d3a6317bbe2033a0839de7780aa979a6b.jpg)
I feel like this foreshadowing is honestly amazing, and also hits home at how Fugo feels later on in phf when thinking back to his actions as the pier. I feel like he really does think of his lack of movement as a failure towards Bucciarati, one he has to atone for and I think it's really interesting.
On top of that, I find it really fun how accurate Brunos words are to the situation as a whole, and I find it quite ironic that the one who suffers them isn't even betraying the boss like Bruno is describing, but rather Bruno himself.
Overall, I really like how this singular line foreshadows a moment episodes later, and how I can bring up how Fugo's opinions and feelings on the event are reflected in Bucciarati's words.
#pannacotta fugo#jjba fugo#bruno bucciarati#jjba bruno#jjba bucciarati#jjba vento auero#vento aureo#golden wind#jjba#meta post#jjba meta#analysis#i think?#its honestly me rambling about fugo#god i love that guy hes my little blorbo <3#my beautiful princess with a disorder#but also i have many feelings on him and his 'betrayal'#as can prob be guessed from how ive been using apostrophes around it#cos like#bruno did give them the option to stay behind if they wanted to#and yeah everyone else went#but fugo runs too much on logic and survival to even be able to move to join them#and i dont blame him!#especially when remembering this whole thing happened in a singular horrible week#and seriously?? would you betray the boss who could possibly still be ON THE ISLAND W YOU#for a girl you literally only met a week ago#not faulting trish tho#i love her and she genuinely deserves the world so no hate to her#anyway back to prev im just going insane over fugo and i genuinely believe he doesnt deserve the amount of hate he gets from the fandom#hes literally just a kid trying to survive the mafia and its terrifying boss!!

"The kid seems scared.
Tip had always been a little nervous. Or at least that was the reality when the two had met.
It was fairly obvious for everyone that met them that the child had not been treated well by their formar guardian and in a way that Elphaba sadly recognized still seemed to afraid of facing the same pain and rejection again.
Still lately the kid seemed more relaxed and open, treating her with the same easiness and earnest they did Jack. More determined to learn than eager to please. Following her around with questions and vibrating with excitement as she turned wooden sticks into dolls and toy swords alike. It made her think of Nessa in a very bittersweet way.
She failed her sister and she would not allow herself to fail another young person she became responsable for.
That's to say Tip's strange turn to the same scared kid she met soon after leaving her behind and being declared and enemy of Oz scared her.
"Miss Elphaba, I have something very serius to tell you."
Maybe they want to leave. They are not in fact different in the same way Elphaba is. Tip is a normal if deeply magical child who just ended up in the care of a horrible woman. Being her aprenticce is actually the only thing turning them into a dangerous and hated figure.
"I understand."
The kid takes a deep breath. Elphaba tries to think on the best words to explain that of course they can leave if they want to and that they can take as many provisions as they need. Tip will never again be a prisioner.
"I don't think I am a boy? Wait no. I know I'm not a boy. Like the idea of it is still a bit scary because it seems like it will be a big deal but I'm fairly sure I'm a girl actually. I just never though about it before but Jack called me she accidentaly and it just makes sense. I am still the same Tip and please let me keep being your aprentice." She says in a single breath.
"What?"
The girl looked scared. "I'm a girl." She says. Than in a smaller voice. "I can try to be a boy if you want?" It does not appear to be something she wants and the fact she still sugests it breaks Elphaba's heart a little.
"Oh! Oh. No, no, that's fine. Do you want to be called something else?"
Her eyes go huge and she stops deep in thought before answring.
"Uh. I guess so, but I'm still thinking on it. I don't mind Tip for now."
"Okay, tell me when it changes?"
"Will do."
"Anything else?"
Tip looks a bit shy for half a second before a excited smile covers her face. "Could you let me borrow a dress?"
Elphaba laughts.
"You are too tiny for my dresses, kid. But I can help you magic one for yourself. "
Her eyes shine. "Cool!"
[...]
"Morrible says you'll marry some prince soon." Dorothy says making a face.
"I don't see why you are soo distraught, my dear, I'm pretty sure she'll find me a great prince." Glinda says with false cheer.
"I doubt it. Princes are all very dull."
"Met many princes did you?" She jokes lightly, trying to find a way to change the subject. She loves the kid dearly and for all it's bleak consequences will always be glad the tornado ended up bringing the girl into her life but she would preffer not to discuss those subjects. Specially not in her own bedroom in a rare moment of relaxation.
"Well no." The girl pouts. "But most boys are dull and I can't imagine liking to marry even the ones that aren't. I guess I just thought you were the same? I'm sorry."
"No need to apologize. And I sure hope marriage is unimaginable for you, you are way to young for it."
The girl smiles a tiny bit before frowning.
"I can imagine myself marrying a girl one day."
"Oh!" Is all Glinda says.
"I told Aunt Em once she told me to never say it again, she told me I was too young. But I'm ten now and I feel the same. " Dorothy rarely talks about home, sometimes Glinda tricks herself into beliving it is because her the kid just loves Oz better, that she forgot all about it, but she knows deep down that Dorothy will always miss Kansas, always miss her uncle and aunt and Toto, she just accepted home as a place she'll never return to. In the good days Glinda knows Dorothy would also miss Oz, would miss her munchkin friends and mostly would miss being Glinda's apprentice. In the better days she thinks about bringing Dorothy's family here. After all Kansas always seems sad and hungry. "Girls don't marry each other in Kansas." She continues. "But I though maybe they did here. "
"I think they do everywhere, Dorothy, is just some people pretend they don't because the different scares them."
"Like the Wizard and the animals?"
Glinda had only recently convinced Dorothy to only speak her very dangerous beliefs on the Wizard in private and even there she sometimes corrected the kid. But right now it felt too much like liying to Elphaba she couldn't do it, not when she knew Dorothy to be right.
"Yeah. Just like that."
And after a second she adds.
"Between us, I would also like to marry a woman".
Dorothy smiles, just a little bit.
[...]
She knows she should not be here.
But it's fun, she likes the dancing and the food and the small chance of going back home with something that can actually help Elphie. Maybe a magical item or even just some usefull information.
Besides the girl she is talking to is very pretty and fun and smart and she is not open about it but she's definitivaly not the biggest fan of the Wizard either. Oh and a great dancer.
"I'm sorry" the girl says "but I think I did not catch your name?"
Now it's the moment to say something clever like 'i never gave it to you' or maybe just invent some fake name. She can't say her name. It's too easy of a conection to make. But she doesn't need to lie. After all it was never really her name. And she has a name now. Has had it for days and just keept it a secret in some weird form of fear. But it felt like time. She would tell it to Elphie and Jack when she went back.
"Ozma. I'm Ozma. What's yours?"
[...]
Dorothy had never had so much fun at a party before. Her new friend was the most beutifull girl she ever met and the funniest and cleverest and it had never felt so easy to talk to someone before. In fact the only thing Ozma didn't appear to be was a good dancer but Glinda had teached Dorothy well and she found herself leading the other girl steps into the best dance she ever had.
She noticed Ozma did not gave any surname but it was not her place to pry. She just hoped to mert the girl again.
"Dorothy." She says and takes the hand. For a second she considers continuing in the way she was instructed to (Dorothy Upland at your pleasure and a kiss to the hand) but while she loves Glinda that's not really her. And she somehow trusts Ozma enough to be honest. "Dorothy Gale." She shakes the hand just like Uncle Henry used to.
#this is silly#please someone that can actually wrote do something with it for me#wicked au#dorothy gale#ozma of oz#wicked#elphaba thropp#galinda upland#glinda the good witch#elphaba the wicked witch#glephie#ozma sees elphie like an older sister#while Dorothy sees glinda as a mentor#they are not really parents even if sometimes they fill the role#glephie are in their early to mid 20s and they migh want to be parents but they have no skill#in my head when they met Dorothy is ten and Ozma is eleven#and elphaba mets Ozma at eight while Glinda meets Dorothy at seven#so there was 3 years after the end of act one act two would be 5 years after when Dorothy is 12 c#i wrote Ozma based on my own experiences#but i am a trans man so if any trans woman finds Ozma to not be well writen please tell me and I'll try to correct it#the wizard of oz#also i just re read to try to somewhat beta#and this is NOT anti fiyero#i love him#he is not part of the ship dinamic but him acting as dorothys dad is an hc that lives rent free in my head#the princes are dull conversation is not an attack on him#is just how dorothy as a young child from the 30s that had heteronirmativity forced into her sees the world#she didn't even met fiyero at this point cause Glinda tries to avoid contact with her old class as to not think about elphie#jack pumpkinhead

the qiong ding peak disciples 100% have petty beef with lbh for stealing their favourite didi lmao
they're not gonna Actually beat him up (without Reason) but they're very emphatic about how thoroughly they WILL if lbh messes with sy. it's like a shovel talk that never ends
sy isn't actually completely oblivious to whats going on but he doesn't get why they're like this and he thinks theyre being fucking stupid (and he trusts them to not actually bully binghe) so he's elected to ignore their antics entirely
#arts#mottau#next chapter almost done so im letting these loose now#hou jingxing is standing on the Box of Dramatic Height Effect in the first image. she is actually shorter than lbh#bai yunqi does not get in on their antics but he is Watching lbh to make sure he's not Problem#lbh is not scared of these bitches he WILL fight for the right to hang out with sy if he has to#most of this (particularly for hou jingxing + li yanying) is just childish jealousy over how much sy obviously likes spending time with lbh#part of it is that having an interested alpha who they don't know hovering around the omega of their group#does clock as a Potential Threat on a purely instinctual level#but there is also a Not Insignificant portion of this (esp for bai yunqi)#which is that they met sy when he couldnt talk or walk on his own and clung to yqy like his life depended on it#its sort of left an impression on them! esp bc nowadays its very clear he wasn't like that because thats normal for him/his preference/etc#the younger two especially probably wouldnt even be able to put into words that its something that worries them but it does all the same#lbh on the other hand only met sy after he was already growing MUCH more independent#he's never known sy as anything other than how he is now. what he DOES know is that sy was the first person who ever REALLY helped him here#so he's never thought of sy as someone who needs to be sheltered or protected even though sy is a few years younger than him#and that's a HUGE part of why sy spends so much time with him

Jax being 22 while gangle is 25 is so funny to me because girl ur like 4 years older than him. How are you letting him bully you. And 22 and 25 isn’t that big a difference but they’ve been there for a while. If gangle has spent 3 or more years in the circus she met him when he was a teen. Like beat that little twerp up he doesn’t even know about income tax you were a manager.
#tadc#tadc gangle#tadc jax#it would be so funny if she met him when he was like 15-16 and she was just letting this literal child walk all over her#Girl beat him up#I’m not even kidding#Do some Child abuse

Geo and Bonzle's relationship is something so nebulous and not entirely definable but so, so incredibly loving. Less father and daughter and more older brother and teen sister that he feels responsible for. She showed up when he was at his absolute lowest, barely keeping himself alive as day after day after day of agonizing loneliness went by. She knew that loneliness all too well and they found so much comfort in eachother. And even as their family grew their dynamic never really changed. I just. Hrghghhghghghgghgghgghhfjfjfhfjgjghggjjghgh 😭💕💕
#god I can't stop thinking about how Geo must've felt when Cole told him Bonzle was gone#he wasn't there for her. she “died” alone and scared and he was just waiting at home for her to come back#if he'd been there.. if he'd just been able to help.. god if he'd even just gotten to say goodbye#I really do not think Geo was in a good place mentally when he met Bonzle#I mean come on. abandoned and forgotten by the geckles and munce and alone in a junkyard wasteland? it is very telling that average genshin players cannot comprehend seeing an actual mature, qualified leader that is actually good at taking her job seriously after meeting archons who either is still childish, clowning whimsically, or straight up incompetent.
#it's kinda funny that the best God in terms of actually fulfilling their duties to the T is the mortal one#there's absolutely nothing wrong with the other archons their flaws make their characters extremely compelling#but it's kind of insane to call mavuika bland for being good at her job as if she's still not inherently flawed with the martyrdom complex#people keep pointing out to her: aren't you tired? don't you have dreams of your own? isn't your want important too?#she's such a fascinating character yknow#mavuika#that is#she cares so deeply about the humans in natlan and she has abundant love for them and actively doing things to give natlan a better future#and yet she could NOT remotely take her own advice and wisdom for herself#you kinda have to remember not all archons are here because they want to be archon#nahida did not ask to be an archon neither did ei#and don't even get me started on furina#zhongli and venti take archonhood like parenting as expected from them but they're so ancient that they're entering their silly granpa era#focalors is the first instance we see of 'new' god doing something... godly#she is forever the punkest archon for what she did but her plan still equired a great suffering nonetheless#after all when you want to save your nation by going AGAINST the system you cannot do it without sacrificing a soul or two#which leads me to why people think it's irrational to kill off capitano when what he's doing is also punk#focalors dared celestia by returning the hydro authority to the dragon they stole it from and destroyed hydro throne#forever changing the institution that is The Seven#capitano dared ronova by giving his immortality to lord of the night and by that rewriting ronova's curse on him#he changed the rules of the ley lines forever#anyway.#narratively speaking capitano is a great foil for mavuika and I'm just glad it's him we met in natlan#hyv didn't make the short animated for mavuika just for you to call her bland

It's my OCs' first birthday today, yippie!! They're enjoying their birthday with some tiny company and a horribly baked cake. But it's the thought that counts!
These are Pai, Aurelio, and Lizzie. They are a couple and run a diner together in the low suburbs of Halcandra. Their shop also serves as a safe space and shelter for other Star Borns just like them.
They also tend to take in the more little ones of their kind, soon after they've first formed. They look after them and teach them stuff, before letting them go to live independently. But they're always welcome back in their house! Be it for shelter, or a nice cup of coffee.
More about them under the cut. Be warned it gets kinda long.
Pai's ability is Cook. When he was little, he used to use his ability to make food to share with his whole neighborhood as a way of uniting everyone.
Since then he's been steadily building towards a goal, to open his very own Diner. He wanted to create a space for his community to thrive in, though he was severely disadvantaged in such a large city.
He's not one to give up and he always looks on the positive side of things. He tends to spoil the kids they look after with treats, and has a hard time saying no, so he often takes on more than he can handle.
He is the one that looks after the well-being of the kids, and generally, things that require a bit more... Tact. He looks after them when they're sick or injured, which is how he ends up meeting future GSA founders Arthur, Erebus, and Anansi.
Aurelio grew up in a scrapyard with 6 others of their kind, being kept there as guard dogs for the paranoid old man who owned the place. They were encouraged to fight each other for fun, which is how they got the scar across their face.
When they got too big and troublesome, most of them were kicked out of their home and left to fend for themselves.
Aurelio's Spear ability eventually landed them a job as a Knight for Halcandra's elites, where they worked alongside a few of their friends. Their job was to guard the meeting room and defend their assignment from threats.
A few years into this job, they and other soldiers were given a mission. A pair of dragons were nesting at the bottom of the Haldera Volcano, they had to get them out. Dragons are calm if not provoked, so relocation shouldn't be difficult...
As it turns out, the dragons were a mated pair. A male and a female, and they were viciously protecting their egg clutch.
In the battle against the dragons, Aurelio was injured and burned by fire, but their natural fire immunity allowed them to be one of the few survivors. Nevertheless, the Knights were successful in their mission and managed to drive the dragons out.
The 4 eggs that weren't crushed during the battle were passed off to the Ancients for research. They became the Guardian Angel Landia later on.
She was forced to retire from Knighthood at age 31. Due to the lasting effects of their injuries, Aurelio is the one who spends most of the time with the children. For better and for worse.
Because of their childhood, they have very skewed ideas of how to treat children. She'll often put them in dangerous situations unintentionally since she has no frame of reference to tell her that taking kids out to the Gator Pond isn't a very good idea.
Aurelio teaches the rougher life lessons. They've been through quite a bit, so they want the kids to learn how to defend themselves, and to be careful and not have others take advantage of them.
She does most of the disciplining and the one that gives timeouts and other such punishments. She is of the opinion that sometimes rough love is necessary to set someone straight. She's calm and loving, but a bit stuck in the old way of doing things.
Lizzie, real name Angeliz, is a 2-time college dropout who grew up upper class despite her species' disadvantage. She never had many friends growing up, since other kids didn't really like her, and resigned herself to being what her parents wanted her to be.
She tried to study medicine but quit after 2 years. Not wanting to further disappoint her parents, she went into law. Which she also hated but tried to commit to finishing despite how miserable it made her.
Meeting Pai and Aurelio helped her get through the year, but after Aurelio was injured, she quit law and started living with them. She helped Pai balance his business with taking care of Aurelio and eventually used some of the money she still had left to give Pai's Diner the little push forward it needed.
Despite the many etiquette classes she took as a child, Lizzie completely lacks social skills. She's a total disaster, especially when talking to someone she likes. Once she gets comfortable, her true personality starts to shine through.
She's a huge slob and kind of vulgar despite her cute appearance. She's easily angered and does not like to be teased, which makes putting up with bratty kids more difficult for her.
She tends to treat kids as little adults instead, which causes her to not be very mindful of their sensitivities. Even when in a good mood, trying to do her best, she always ends up saying the wrong thing and makes everything worse.
She handles the business aspect of their Diner, crunching numbers and reading over legal documents. She's really smart and knowledgeable, so she's the one who tends to teach kids reading, writing, and math.
Her ability is Bubble. She never used to like it, it was silly and useless to her, so she kept it hidden for years. After meeting her partners and becoming happy, she's started blowing bubbles more frequently. The kids love them.
#kirby#kirby series#kirby oc#oc: lizzie#oc: pai#oc: aurelio#polyorbs#that's just what i call them#their “ship name”#oc: erebus#oc: anansi#god I'm too ashamed to tag him#my art#arthur#<- just what i'll use for now#ANYWAY OC POSTING YAYYY I can't be normal about my ocs#so i yapped for way too long. including on these tags#and even then i still didn't manage to explain everything. or even specify how they met and got together and stuff#i tried my best to keep it brief and failed#i don't want to talk about how badly i fucked up that second drawing oh my godddd#i forgot to size up my sketch... I didn't even notice until i was doing the dialogue and i was like ew why does it look like that#So i apologize for both how tiny it is and its slight crustiness#couple of fun facts. lizzie wears glasses. though right now she wears contacts#she also has a scar on her left foot. and a big heart on her belly and one on her butt#her design is like. a care bear. but if it had the personality of a 52 year old dad#aurelio's injuries are on their arms and back. they put their arms up to protect their face after they lost their helmet#but the dragon crushed their arm plates. when they tried to retreat it slashed at their back#i unfortunately didn't get to finish aurelio's knight design in time. so you'll have to wait to see that

something I do appreciate about red vs blue is its particular brand of “came back wrong”. you were brought back, but you’re just a memory of the person you’re supposed to be. you’re just the expectations of them. you’re just the pieces everyone else saw and remembered. you’re tough like the original, but you’ll always fail no matter how tough you are, because the original failed, too. you’ve got a personality like the original, but it’s not quite right because you didn’t actually live the life they did. there’s this person you love- who you would kill or suffer or die for- but you don’t know why, you just know you’re supposed to be together because that’s what you were made for.
#thinkin abt tex and epsilon at 4am on a thursday#anyway thinkin about the fact that tex and church were never *actually* together outside of blood gulch#she tried to save alpha. she failed. he didn't know who she was and she was forced to leave him.#but realistically? he'd never met her before. because she wasn't allison and he wasn't leonard#they were both just copies that knew who they were supposed to be#and epsilon never met tex. he only had the copy based on alpha's muddled memories.#and then when he brought her back... she was just even more wrong because she was a memory of a memory#and even with all of alpha's memories#epsilon wasn't alpha. he was someone different because he'd been through different things#alpha didn't remember what was done to him. epsilon did. alpha didn't know what he'd lost. epsilon did.#alpha lived his life. had relationships with the reds and blues. epsilon just remembered it.#and with that in mind you have to wonder...#what did tex actually remember? who did she think she was? what did she think the director and alpha were to her?#because epsilon had alpha's memories but beta didn't even have that.#anyway yeah roommate agreed to experience rvb with me and we watched seasons 1-10 together and hooboy#I'm back on my bullshit#red vs blue#rvb#Agent Texas#tex rvb#Leonard Church#church rvb#epsilon rvb#alpha rvb#beta rvb

bobby & david kennedy
“There was some level on which David tapped his father’s sensitivity. You would find him walking with David or with his arm around David. David just seemed to need it.”
— chuck mcdermott.

“If his father’s death hit David harder than the others, it was because there had been a special bond between them—both were the runts of the litter, sandwiched into the middle of a large family. He was the only one in the family who hadn’t been enthusiastic about the run for the presidency. For weeks after his father’s announcement, David had been plagued by recurring nightmares about Bobby’s death. Distraught over episodes that seemed premonitory, and missing the special attention his father had given him, David had gotten in trouble for throwing rocks at cars passing by Hickory Hill. The day of the California primary, he had joined his father in Los Angeles. The two of them had been swimming and he had felt himself being carried out by the undertow when his father grabbed him, scraping his own head on the ocean floor as he reached for David’s slippery arm. With a teenager’s melodrama, David had decided that he owed his father a life and would look for an opportunity to pay him back in the years ahead. That night as he sat in front of the television set in his room in the Ambassador Hotel and watched [his father] bleeding on the floor downstairs, one of the thoughts he had was that the debt would be forever undischarged.”

“As the worst year of their young lives came to a close, they decided to surprise their mother at Christmas with a book comprised of letters about their father. David’s said: ‘Daddy was very funny in church because he would embarrass all of us by singing very loud. Daddy did not have a very good voice. There will be no more football with Daddy, no more swimming with him, no more riding and no more camping with him. But he was the best father there ever was and I would rather have him for a father for the length of time I did than any other father for a million years.”
— the kennedy’s, peter collier & david horowitz.

“David looked at himself in those pictures like they were a strange sort of mirror. He looked at them half a dozen times at least, mesmerized by them, and he kept asking me questions. There was a tremendous desire to know his father, to really know him.”
— john seigenthaler.
“David and Bobby were so close. They were inseparable. David was small, a runt like Bobby had been.” Ethel then explained to Noelle (her secretary) that David had always been a very sensitive youngster, very introverted, "not like the other boys. He and I would go and pick flowers while his brothers were killing each other with their crazy games", Ethel recalled with a smile.
— ethel kennedy.
“I think about death a lot. Time hasn’t erased the death of my father from my mind. My family thinks I’m no good and that I’ll never beat my problem. They’ve written me off. I’m trying to get it together, but it’s so difficult. I’m having a terrible time at it. And the thing I want most in the world is the approval of my family, but they want nothing to do with me. All I want is to be with my father.”
— david kennedy, april 1984.
“Like his family, his friends had all wondered at one time or another if he would kill himself; but when it finally came his death was nonetheless shocking. ‘I keep asking myself why. Why David? Why now? All I can come up with is that maybe his father was looking down from heaven and saw all the hell these people were putting him through and said, ‘Come on, You’ve suffered enough. It’s time you were up here with me.’”
— nancy narleski.

Years after David Kennedy’s death, his cousin, Patrick Kennedy recalled a haunting and heartbreaking recollection he had with his father, Teddy, sitting beside his cousin’s casket: “My father remembered Bobby telling him that, as a father, he needed to spend more time with David. He also recounted a story Uncle Bobby had told him just before his own death. On the day before the California primary, the Robert Kennedys had gone swimming in Malibu, to relax together. David had been knocked over by a wave and got caught in the undertow, and his father had come to his rescue. When Uncle Bobby told my father this story, he talked about ‘the undertow’ in broader terms, how there was an undertow in life and David, who was only then thirteen, already seemed vulnerable to it. And then, just hours later, Uncle Bobby was murdered as David watched the TV coverage in their hotel room upstairs. It was unbelievably poignant to hear my father tell this story. David was in the casket next to us. And I wasn’t that much older than David when his father worried whether he could survive the undertow.”
#the fifth photo where he’s caressing david’s cheek …..#every time i think about bobby & david my heart cracks a little#the way that he was iced out by the kennedy's bc of his drug addiction is so heartbreaking. but is it surprising? not really#ofc i understand that trying to help someone with an addiction is never easy and warrants a whole other conversation#i remember reading ab how kathleen tried to help as she was the oldest but other ppl in the family dissuaded her from it after a while#chris lawford talked ab how eunice once got him out of trouble but was incredibly angry at how the family had neglected their own children#said something about how 'we're so good at taking care of other ppl's problems but absolutely awful at looking after our own'#so i'm moreso side-eyeing ppl like rfk jr who actively benefitted in painting david as the black sheep#or just Didn't Care bc it reflected badly on them.#david was made to feel unimporant in the family when anyone who met him said he was Always the brightest of bobby’s children#which made his downward mental spiral all the more tragic to those sympathetic to him#and it kind of kills me bc he really was so much like Bobby who grew up only ever wanting his family’s love and approval#who as a young man was also so angry at the world & depressed but then was slowly sucked out of its intensity bc of ethel’s love and suppor#and because he found purpose through fatherhood and public service#but david never had the opportunity to have those things or that type of support#not after he lost his father who he felt was the only one who understood & cared for him and gave him that support#david later revealed to peter collier & David Horowitz that his brothers even called him a traitor which had left him in tears#and he was only further ostracized by the family for talking to those biographers and telling them the actual truth#moral of the story: bobby and david kennedy deserved better#rfk#bobby kennedy#david kennedy#kennedy family

the most unbelievable thing about blue exorcist to me is that rin didnt know about shiemi's existence at all. Like not at all?? I get yukio being able to lie and lead a double life but he never mentioned his childhood friend that he tutors like once a week? He was never in a situation where he was like 'oh i heard this from shiemi' not even a slip up??? Not even once??????? I feel like when rin met shiemi he shoulda known OF her at least.
#Like an 'ohhhh you're my brothers friend!' Situation even if he didnt know her name#Cuz yukio was pretty young when they met i don't think he was the lying prodigy he is now#My only explanation is that rin just forgot#But i feel like he wouldnt like if he knew his brother had a friend especially if she was a girl he would remember that#Tho i have had a theory that yukio is lying about being a good liar#He prolly messed up all the time and rin didnt press him cuz it didnt seem like his business#And like yukio was healthy and his father seemed cool with it so it must be fine (it was not)#blue exorcist#ao no exorcist#yukio okumura#rin okumura#shiemi moriyama

I resent getting dragged into the discourse but it's wild to me that there are people out there who read the HP books and laud Harry for being brave and having a big heart and redeeming the wizarding world with his unusually great ability to love, yet can't comprehend how he could learn to appreciate Snape's sacrifice.
I'm very specifically thinking of the fact that Harry watches Snape die. Snape, who is lying on the floor, gripping Harry's robes, and whose eyes Harry is looking into and seeing the life leave. I don't understand how people can humanize some fictional characters and treat them as if they were real and completely dehumanize another. Not even for Snape's sake, but for Harry's sake, do these people not understand what it is to watch someone die? What's the expectation, that the Capacity For Love Posterchild protagonist steps out of character and doesn't care about the guy he watches bleed out and die suffering because you, as a reader, don't like him?
Which is it? Does Harry have a huge capacity to love or not? Pick a lane. Either you value this character trait in Harry or you don't. But you have to take or leave everything it comes with, otherwise you're a hypocrite. Or maybe illiterate.
I just don't GET it.
#Harry watched Dumbledore die and took the locket from his corpse.#Harry held Dobby in his arms as he died.#And then Harry watched Snape die. The kid has seen a lot of death and it has a profound effect on him.#What kind of person expects him to walk away from Snape's death and go 'yeah but he was still an asshole.'#Not to mention that Snape was the only person Harry ever met who told him stories about his mom and showed him what she was like.#Even if you're too emotionally dense to understand the emotional shift that happens when an antagonistic authority figure becomes vulnerabl#with you - let alone to such an extreme degree#How do you not understand that being part of someone's death is an intimate experience that bonds you to some degree?#If I only saw this kind of attitude from people who treat the books and characters as fiction I'd get it maybe.#But I see it from people who will argue on behalf of Harry and/or the Marauders as if they were real people with agency and not characters#created by the same author as Snape and/or whoever else they hate#but their treatment of them as real people either ends at characters they like or they're just the kind of people who dehumanize#anyone they don't like in real life too I guess?#and I see this AGAINST MY WILL because I don't even want to see this discourse AND YET *gestures at my feed*

As per Tumblr recommendation, I started Kevin can fuck himself yesterday. I see people comment on how the sitcom part makes it look the way people see an abuser and how the abuse can be disguised. People think he is just a funny guy and the abuse goes unnoticed. I personally see it otherwise, although it's similar.
People know he is an asshole. He spends a whole episode being mean to the new neighbours just because. He meets a dangerous guy at a bar, in public. He is an alcoholic who throws weird parties with lots of other people at home. Patty's boyfriend tells her twice in the 3 or 4 conversations we see that he is an idiot. People know, and people avoid him.
And his bubble know, but they justify it and excuse it. And that's the sitcom. The sitcom is the theater of excuses Allison has (and then other characters too) about his behaviour.
"Can you believe it? We were in our anniversary, such a fun party, we were both super drunk and I don't know how it ended, that I was face down on the floor and the table was broken! Anniversa-rager we call it lol"
"He is such a clumsy guy that just as I was leaving the house, you won't believe that I don't know how he managed to cover me in chilli sauce! What a silly goose!"
"He is so helpless without me, he couldn't find the printer and he called me all day because he needed me to explain to him how to work it. And he worries too! He called the cops because he didn't know where I was, maybe I forgot to tell him".
The conversations with her coworker about husbands help drive this point. That's what mariage is. You find ways to justify it and to avoid certain fights and that's it. We got lucky.
But he did all these things on purpose. And the unreliable narrator of the sitcom makes the joke of it and makes the audience consider that maybe it isn't *that bad*. Allison needs to believe that's what it is, so it is. It really isn't that bad, she thinks, he is just like that.
And we can actually see the worrying things and the threatening parts from minute one. It's only a joke because we have been trained to dismiss it. To justify it and to move on. He isn't doing any heavy lifting here.
In episode 1, just the fact that he ends up standing on the table (when she doesn't want him to even put glasses on without protection) says a lot. But then the table breaks and he fixes it poorly and visibly. It would be bad enough just like this, but I personally think there is more to it. It's just that Allison doesn't want to speak about it or look at it so it is just the table, but it's the switch that turns on for her, the last drop. But she did end face down on her living room, on top of the broken table. It's a very elegant narrative tool where we don't see, but if we wanted to see, it's there.
And the more she notices, the more off-putting the sitcom is. It's still played as a joke, with the laugh track, but she is more aware now, so we can notice too.
We start the series with her turning point, but if the series started a year before that, it would only be happening in her house, as it is her life, her only frame of reference, and it would only be a sitcom because isn't he such a clumsy but caring guy?
#kevin can fuck himself#I have so many thoughts about this series#I have 2 examples of the top of my head of social situations that reflect on this sitcom idea#1 of them when she finally divorced him everyone in the village congratulated her#nobody liked him. he created trouble wherever he went. he had felony charges all over the place.#there was not much anybody could do. His sisters (not hers. HIS) came years before to tell her to divorce him and still#people knew. he didn't charm anybody. he didn't pretend he was the perfect husband#and another one was much less violent but things had to be as he liked them when he liked them where he liked them#I was in that group of friends for 3 months and left because it was boring but also because there was nothing for me to do#he didn't have a job yet his wife had to cook after work for all his friends in the day we all met#a long time friend of his barely came to his dinners and said that he only hang out with him at bars where he could get drunk#because he couldn't stand him while not drunk#so his wife would be isolated from many people because many of the people who used to hang out with him just didn't want to be there#I don't know if she had her own friends#this is just to say: people know and the victim is still isolated because eventually there is nothing people can do#there is no hollywood solution to it#and: the victim is isolated even when there is people to chat with them and help them out#the victim isolates themself. The abuser isolates them on purpose. and the whole situation is very difficult to handle from the outside.
