CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE ⸺ eutask number one. ➥ click the read more to proceed.
001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react ?
clarisse has always been under the impression that she was not like other children ( albeit, mostly because her brother would tell her that she wasn’t ) but she didn’t know the full extent of it until she was around fifteen years old.
as a child, clarisse was very flippant with her powers as she was never explicitly taught to hide them and she would often use them when she wasn’t supposed to. one of those times was during a field trip to paris. she was in the jardin des tuileries with her class ⸺ a very exposed setting for one so young and powerful ⸺ when she decided to use her cryokinesis to turn the water in one of the fountains to ice. very quickly, she was discovered by the harpy, aello, who wanted to get back at khione for betraying gaea, wife of tartarus. though she managed to scare aello away with her powers, clarisse was left incredibly shaken by the whole ordeal.
upon her arrival back to her home in avignon, her parents decided to inform his daughter of her true heritage. at first, it was a shock to the system ⸺ of course it was. how often does anyone learn that they’re the daughter of a goddess ? ⸺ but slowly it began to make sense to her why she had these unexplainable powers and why she always felt at home in the cold and the knowledge became something of a comfort to her.
002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod ?
it’s a complicated matter. her parents love her dearly and her mother often likes to say that clarisse is her petit miracle when she’s had a good day, but her siblings are somewhat indifferent nowadays. sébastien was incredibly jealous when they were little because her powers often gained a lot of attention from their parents and he frequently wished he could have her abilities for himself. he was something of a bully towards her, especially after she was officially claimed by khione in her teens, but fortunately, he’s mellowed out now. josie, on the other hand, has always been super relaxed about it, and even almost admiring of her sister’s abilities. but she’s always looked up to clarisse in general so it wouldn’t have changed her opinion much either way, and being much younger than both clarisse and sébastien, she doesn’t remember when clarisse was told so she’s always known her sister was a demigod.
003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent ?
in a way, clarisse has always been claimed by khione, but it was never made official until she started attending camp starke. it was a very delayed reaction, with many of the camp members wondering which god could have been her parent since khione isn’t exactly well - known in that region. a lot of people thought she might have been a daughter of apollo or even aphrodite, given her optimistic personality and blatant beauty, and were quite surprised when she was claimed by neither but rather by khione instead.
004. did they attend camp ?
as a summer resident at camp starke in airolo, switzerland for three years, clarisse thrived. she was a very trusted member within the camp and took part in both the organisation and distribution of roles during events. as one of the oldest camp members, it was usually clarisse who was assigned to look after the younger children since she usually had a few hours free throughout the day. she wasn’t the most fond of any sort of weapons training they had since she’s generally not the most combative and doesn’t particularly like handling weapons, but she enjoyed joining in with their games and camp traditions. clarisse had always been very much a city girl and is used to being the only person with powers for miles, so being in the wilderness around dozens of other children like her opened up her eyes a little. ( she still prefers the city, though. that will never change. )
005. was your muse ever sent on any quests ?
there was only ever one quest. during clarisse’s last year at camp stark, there was were rumours that the muses had stopped performing for the gods. about three weeks into her stay, the camp director suggested to clarisse that she may visit the oracle for the first time where she was told this prophecy with the intention of following its instructions :
un enfant de l’hiver et un enfant de la terre, chassera le vent et trouvera leur valeur. bien que ces deux visages familiers se recontrent la fin du voyage n’est peut - être pas douce. car un choix crucial doit - il faire, pour trouver ce qui est perdu ou tout mettre en jeu.
so clarisse and another camp member headed west, following the east wind to the pyrenees where they would through the mountains by car as it would be easier than going through the cities. it had been explained to them prior that the diadem of mnemosyne had been stolen from calliope after a performance in olympus, and that they were expected to retrieve it before zeus found out. not wanting to risk the wrath of the god of skies, they were given a seven - day deadline and were told to return within the week. they returned by day six after having killed a nemean lion and narrowly escaping the grasps of both scylla and charybdis. the diadem had been found in a temple on the pic des spijeoles, where it was revealed that eris had stolen it to get back at calliope who had been caught sneaking around with harmionia’s husband. nevertheless, both clarisse and her companion were rewarded for their troubles ( clarisse with a pair of ballet slippers that never wear down ) and they gained honours from the muses.
006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent ?
khione has been in and out of the prouvaires’ lives since before clarisse was born and has been present throughout her life, whether physically or not. it’s known that khione kept tabs on clarisse and would send her small gifts for her birthdays and achievements. she would often appear to them during their annual ski trip to the swiss alps, where she was always introduced as a family friend. needless to say, clarisse is a little bit biased when it comes to khione and does not like to hear a bad word against her. although she knows that the goddess has done wrong in the past, she often overlooks that in favour of her affections and insists that she has changed. to this day, she still sees khione at least once a year, and she still receives gifts from her, but only on her birthday.
007. your muse’s favourite part about being a demigod ?
i wouldn’t say there’s any one particular thing that clarisse likes above all else, but if she had to choose, it’s probably her siblings. she’s a very big family person at heart and has always made an effort to get along with her siblings, both mortal and demigod. she loves that her family does nothing but grow, and she loves that she gets to share a house with them and there are people who she can look up to and who can look up to her. she never has to feel alone when she lives with the knowledge that there are others like her and that she even shares blood with some of them. she’s also very fond of her cryokinesis. it’s such a large part of her that she truly wouldn’t know what she’d be without it.
008. your muse’s least favourite part about being a demigod ? trigger warning : anxiety.
the constant fear of being hunted down by a monster. albeit, she doesn’t have to worry so much now that she’s at eonia and she knows she is protected and safe, but in the six months between her attack and starting university, she was living in a state of near - constant paranoia that she ( or her family ) would be attacked again and it’s not something she ever wishes to repeat. she has had panic attacks in the past over it and still gets nightmares from time to time, but at this point, it’s a somewhat irrational fear, since she knows that there are demigods who have definitely had it worse than her. regardless, it’s still very real to clarisse and she attends therapy every month just to keep it all in check. she’s also become a little dependent on people ( mainly her friends and loved ones ) ever since the harpies attacked her and doesn’t often like to be left alone. that’s not something a stranger would ever realise about her, but close friends and family members definitely have in the past.
009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency ?
i can confirm that clarisse absolutely does not like to use weapons and isn’t actually very battle proficient. she escaped from the namean lion by the skin of her teeth, and barely got away from aello. even though she used her aerokinesis against the harpy, she still managed to receive some pretty gnarly looking scars over her left shoulder ( they’re very visible and she tends to get self - conscious about them when she’s wearing anything sheer or sleevless ). of course, attending camp starke in her late teens, she was taught the basics in how to fight and use weapons, but she never would unless it absolutely called for it. anything sharp and she typically tends to run in the opposite direction.

TASK 001. CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE.
› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react?
somehow, in some weird way, jax was unsurprised. it felt right. it felt okay. the news he was awaiting finally came, that the isolation and abnormality he felt were only in anticipation for what was to come. he knew he was special; adults in his life showered him with praise since he could mumble words. but to a young boy, beginning to resent his intelligence, it shined a beacon of hope. he wondered if he was destined to become a great hero, a marvel of history, that maybe this was the beginning of his incredible odyssey with great things to come. ( obviously, that turned out great. )
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod?
jax is unsure how his father feels about anything, cloak of emotional cloudiness between the two his whole life. he’s sure his dad feels resentment towards his son, barely mentioning athena past the initial discussion. he wonders if he were normal, born of a mortal mother, if his dad would be more affectionate, more proud. his dad feels as if jax didn’t have to work for anything, like he had to, and that he’s wasting his great mind. jax feels his dad wishes he never kept his son in the first place, maybe even regretting meeting athena, and the relationship between the two is kept formal. a piece of him wondered the day he was told the news why his dad raised him in the first place, if he had resented athena so much, and if he was too different from humans to coexist happily at home. his sister is unaware, as is his step-mother.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent?
when he turned ten, he was claimed by his mother, athena. sent to camp to train, the goddess had high hopes for her intelligent spawn, claiming him so he could coexist in athena cabin with the other demigods. he recalls the owl symbol appearing over his head, her long distance way of saying you’re mine, followed by the arrival of several envelopes. all the interaction occurred over letters and writing, papers jax had to comb out of the trash to keep.
› 004. did they attend a camp?
he attended camp half blood each summer in between his boarding school days, a place he loved since his arrival. never quite popular, a know-it-all of a teenager, he found friends who understood him and his abilities better than anyone before could.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests?
jax traveled on quests mostly at the request of athena, a brain power to get through the stragetic bumps of the quests. they were usually small, ones where small bits of combat were needed, but usually, he was smart enough to prepare protection amulets beforehand, allowing them to travel short distances safely before attracting monsters.
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent?
the relationship between jax and athena is . . . complicated. she expected greatness from him, a great trophy son, but the need for independence and emotional approval led him to instead resent everything she wanted of him. he doesn’t know much of her anymore, not speaking with her for a while, mostly because he haven’t much to share. he secretly wishes she’d check on him more, encourage him, but his pride scorned any relationship they began.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod?
he loves his genius intelligence, how easily he can recite his notes and test answers, memorize schematics and fit pieces together. everything was so simple and straight-forward growing up. even now, he barely opens his textbooks if only to read them aloud to memorize.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod?
the same things he loves he detests. he’s developed an imposter syndrome. the work he’s done is not his own; it’s simply his mother’s, his demigodlyness, his inheritance. he’s not special as a child of athena. in the world of the gods, he is another spawn, but in the mortal world, he is a genius. he only wishes sometimes he was left unclaimed, because then he’d be extraordinary.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency?
jax is without a weapon and without a single ounce of battle knowledge. he learned the basics of archery through his camp days, but since at eonia, he hasn’t touched a sword, bow or knife. violence is unfitting to him.

task one: questionnaire.
& fantasy is hardly an escape from reality; it's a way of understanding it.
001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react?
it is one thing to be told that your mother is a literal goddess, and another to actually believe said words--especially when the speaker of them is not exactly the most trustworthy of sources.
from the very day sage took his first breath he has been told that he’s special; that his mother is the goddess of witchcraft and magic; that he is “ a fucking wizard! ”. his father has never made a point of hiding his mother from him, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that sage has always believed him. if not for the fact that the man was a complete stoner, then there was still a strong possibility that he had been too absorbed in his fantasy books to have a warped perception of reality (at least sage could still partially relate to that much).
of course, there have been a couple of incidents that left him to reconsider the chances of his father telling him the truth. his peculiar love for plants and herbs; the fact that he would generally feel far more energized during the night; but most of all, the time where he accidentally set a classmate’s clothes on fire for spouting nonsense about his father. unexplainably, he then managed to pass it off as though it had been set ablaze by a candle next to him (that had not even been lit, but they somehow believed them anyway. it later occurred to him that it must have been the mist).
yet it wasn’t until hecate finally showed herself to him many years later that he finally accepted his father’s words as the truth.
002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod?
the fact that his father claimed him to be a wizard and even called him sage to take a jab at his heritage.. no more words are needed to describe his sentiment on the matter. eugene (his father) has always held hecate in high regard as well, and was actually the one who tried to convince sage of his powers. perhaps if sage had tried to look past his father’s reputation of being a drug addict who made zero sense, he would have figured it all out a bit sooner. nothing is more poisonous to a child’s mind than the nasty words the kids on the playground feed to you. he might have pretended that their accusations didn’t get through to him; but what was he supposed to do at barely 7 years of age?
even then, after sage had finally accepted the truth of his heritage, his father has always been his biggest supporter. if possible, he was perhaps even more excited about the magic his son was able to cast than sage had ever been himself. whenever eugene was sober enough to pay attention, he’d spend time by his side to look after him and aid him however well he could (and in return, sage would sometimes pretend as if he truly did need the help, just so he could spend more time with his father).
003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent?
barely eleven years of age, his world is turned upside down when he finds his father passed out cold on the kitchen floor. it’s fear that has the adrenaline rushing through his young body at the time; the anxiety that puts him into autopilot. check pulse. call 911. cover him with a blanket. there is nothing on his mind but survival; it’s almost as if he has done this before. but he hasn’t, and the cool exterior is nothing but a facade that he keeps on because he knows that he’ll come crashing when he drops it.
but he doesn’t have to stay strong forever. by the time they allow him inside his father’s hospital room, the emotions finally come pouring out. there’s barely any time for him to catch his breath between sobbing and hiccuping. puffy red eyes and wet sleeves that reveal what he’s been wiping his tears with. it’s the first time he realises the severity of his father’s drug addiction.
it is also the first time hecate ever shows herself to him. without introduction, she simply seats herself next to him on the concrete floor of the building, arms pulling her son in to soothe him and ease his pain. with her motherly presence, but also with a slight touch of magic. there is nothing but comforting words that she whispers to him while she gently brushes his hair. it doesn’t take long before sage finds himself asleep in her arms, his breathing finally evening out again. their first meeting might have been unorthodox, but at least she’d been there when he needed her most.
a week later, she shows herself again. although she non-verbally claimed sage as her son already in the hospital, this time she returns to spend the entire day with him. hecate is sweet and patient; but she is also a mother, and very protective of her children. the goddess tells him all he needs to know about surviving as a demigod, and how to practice his skills best. she tells him to protect himself and to never let his guard down. to look out for himself only. she also tells himself that his father is a brilliant man, but to not count on him to save his life. he’s gotta do that himself.
of course, she says, she will always be there when he needs her. all he needs to do is ask.
004. did they attend a camp?
sage never attended any demigod camp prior to attending eonia. he did, however, recreate his own miniature demigod camp of sorts back in new york city.
way back in 2010, when his father’s drug addiction took a turn for the worst, sage had no other option but to leave him behind and seek shelter for himself. on the down side, the young demigod had a bank account with just about fifty dollars in it; barely enough to provide himself with some food for the weeks to come, and definitely not enough to find a comfortable place to reside in. on the pro side: thanks to hecate, he was able to keep himself warm and grant himself protection from the outside world and monsters. that way, sage managed to live on his own for a while, turning an empty building into a safe haven of sorts.
it didn’t take long until he’d run into other demigods and invite them to stay with him for the time being. not only would it stop him from being so lonely, it also gave them the chance to practice their abilities and grow stronger together. they became almost like a small family, and although it technically was not a demigod camp, it certainly shared some of the same aspects of one.
005. was your muse ever sent on any quests?
because sage has never been to any demigod camp, he has also never been sent on any quests. not that he feels as if he’s been missing out. frankly speaking, quests never seemed like his type of thing. he’d much rather be working behind the scenes; if he did go on quests, he’d most likely be focusing solely on protecting the others.
006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent?
sage has nothing but admiration for his mother, regardless of how little she has been in his life. in troubled times, hecate has always been there for him. perhaps not always in person, but asking was all sage ever needed to do to reach her. in fact, she is also the goddess he prays to when asking for protection or favors.
having a deity for a parent will never be the same as having a mortal parent. it is simply impossible for them to constantly be around in their children’s life. sage understands that much, and so he is at peace with not being able to see his mother as often as regular kids. would he wish to see her more? sure. he’d love to spend more time with her and just have some coffee or talk about anything that is not demigod related. but hecate has still been a constant factor in his life more than most other gods have been to their children, and for that he is ever so grateful.
if anything, hecate has always helped him get a better understanding of his powers. she guided him through the beginning stages of spell casting and helped him get a better understanding of the mist. weren’t it for her, he probably wouldn’t have half the control over his powers as he does now.
007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod?
the magic! truly, if he had been able to choose a demigod parent of his own, it still would have been hecate. when it comes to magic, there are infinite possibilities of utilising it and sage absolutely loves discovering all of them. he could spend his entire life practicing magic and never grow bored of it. what else is to be expected from someone who practically lives in fantasy books? this demigod doesn’t even need drugs to lose touch with reality, all he needs is his books, magic, and sleepless nights.
other than that, the fact that his powers are one of the strongest sources of protecting other demigods is one of his favorite aspects. he’d love to continue doing what he’s done in new york for all those years; provide a safe shelter to other wayward demigods and allow them to learn from one another.
008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod?
there is not much that sage doesn’t like about being a demigod, but if he had to pick something, it would probably be the lack of a parental figure in his life. perhaps with more of a motherly presence in his life, he’d better understand himself as a person. when it comes to all things demigod and magic, sage has a pretty good understanding of it all. when it comes to himself and his feelings, however, he wonders if having a more consistent adult presence in his life would have made things different. maybe he wouldn’t be so insistent to please everyone all the time; maybe he wouldn’t start crying over every little thing; and maybe he wouldn’t walk off every time he clashes with someone rather than facing them (or sometimes even use the mist to control their thoughts and feelings).
009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency?
battlefield related skills? what are those? sage is practically clueless when it comes to physical combat, and so he prefers not to engage in it. however, throughout the years he’s spent looking after younger demigods, it’s been stressing him out that he has no ways of defending himself should it ever come down to it. unfair as it is, his powers do not work as well during the day, and dismissing physical combat and/or defense entirely is a luxury that he cannot afford.
his weapon of choice would always be his wand; engraved with latin enchantments all over. he doesn’t necessarily need it when casting protective spells, but if he were to go on the offense and attack monsters, he’d still use it for maximum effect. he usually opts to make use of a knife during his battle classes, however. it feels less like a weapon to directly attack an opponent, and more somewhat of a defensive attribute. and, to be fair, if he were to wield a sword.. only the gods would know of the catastrophes that could follow.

𝐓𝐀𝐒𝐊 𝐎𝐍𝐄 › 𝘊𝘏𝘈𝘙𝘈𝘊𝘛𝘌𝘙 𝘘𝘜𝘌𝘚𝘛𝘐𝘖𝘕𝘕𝘈𝘐𝘙𝘌.
› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react?
on her way home from a three AM adventure, noor ran into what she thought someone messing with her in the alley. walking home was never anything that made her tread carefully, if anything it was relaxing to her. noor often itched to test her tazor on an actual human pursuer, but when she came to face with a snarling creature it was her knives she was missing. her mother had someone looking after her ( so gracious of the goddess * eye roll emoji * ) who had interfered and from there she finally met her mother.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod?
the knowledge gave noor new peace, one where she finally felt like she wasn’t questioning herself too often or not enough. her father never wanted her to know, he isn’t the kindest man and chose many selfish paths, even outside of being a father. he felt as if noor was owed to him, the man would be bitter forever that the goddess didn’t stay with him. on the other hand, noor has an aunt who likes to tell her that she knew from the beginning, that she used to whisper in noor’s baby ear that she was a tiny piece of the moon given to her father as a gift.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent?
it had been right after her findings of the camp. pretty sure it was noor’s absolute rage that forced aphrodite to have to confront her daughter, and once she did, she regretted it. noor let her mother have it, there was no shock that she had to process through or universal questions. just rage. sadness. confusion. and aphrodite reacted exactly as expected.
› 004. did they attend a camp?
only for a few years before college, merely because she didn’t want to go home and she didn’t want to feel the eyes of her mother now that she had the knowledge of who she was. noor was quiet at first, she didn’t want to risk using her powers to weave relationships and at this point she felt like she couldn’t trust anyone. but it didn’t take her long. noor found her warmth again attending camp.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests?
a few. only one given to her but she sought out any companionship she could if she heard another had been sent on one she would be quick to offer help. this didn’t always benefit her, since more than a few had almost took her life. still, it never stopped her from going on more.
ii › 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent?
noor and her mother do not have a good relationship. she thinks aphrodite’s selfish, arrogant, and more of a child than the many that she had. usually the goddess only shows her presence when the girl is in danger.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod?
the other demigods, to be honest. noor is super interested in their relationships with their parents and their powers, she often asks too many questions and eavesdrops just to know things. the lore, the fact that she’s a piece of greek history amazes her every time.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod? — has it hindered your muse at all in the past? effected their relationships at all?
she’s lost every relationship she had back home, really. noor feels like she’s used her powers on accident, especially when she was younger, too many times to count. she has really conflicting feelings about this.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency? — you can mention other weapons your muse is proficient in, as well as any battlefield related skills, but be sure to highlight what they’re the most skillful with.
noor specializes in dual daggers, she was trained in hand to hand combat since she was nine. using her size to her advantage, she stays up close — she’s fast, and finds her opponents pressure points as a debilitating defense.

maddy desai’s task one
TASK ONE › CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE.
› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react? — did their mortal parent tell them, were they attacked by a monster, or did someone seek them out to join a demigod camp? how did they react?
Maddy found out she was more than who she thought she was early on, specifically when she accidentally prevented a fight between her parents as a young girl. It was actually her older brother, Suraj, who helped her make sense of it all, her powers, the fact that she was born despite her parents already having difficulties staying in one room together. A week or two after Maddy brought her parents back into each other's arms, however, their house was attacked by a rogue harpy. While her parents were quickly incapacitated, Suraj protected Maddy despite being a mere mortal. He at least bought them time until one of Hestia's virgins, who was posing as their neighbor all that time, interfered and chased the harpy away. The same woman then discussed Maddy with her parents and suggested that she join a demigod camp when she comes of age, which she did. Although scared during the attack, Maddy was pretty much impressed at her savior and decided then and there to one day repay her in kind. She never did meet her again, though.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod? — were they supportive and proud of your muse? or did they reject your muse, ignore them, or try to hide it? or did they have a change of heart over time?
Their parents, mostly their mother, simply believed it was a miracle that Maddy was born, all things considered, while their father grew suspicious of the birth, always watching Maddy and her mother until she unintentionally used her powers on them, turning them both very contented with their life together and forgetful of past ills, seemingly erasing years of anguish. Her older brother Suraj took it upon himself to protect Maddy out of a combination of believing it was his duty as her brother and hoping that there was a greater reason for her existence and its proximity to his own.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent? — did their godly parent claim them when they found out when they were a demigod, or was it a delayed reaction?
One of Hestia's virgins, who had been posing as their neighbor when Maddy was just a little girl, was the first to reach out to her. It wasn't after she came of age and attend a demigod camp that Hestia herself reached out and expressed pride at her kind heart. Maddy had always been thankful of her own existence, a miracle according to her mortal mother, so she was thankful to her godly mother for bringing her to life. Although Maddy did ask about meeting the virgin that watched over her as a little girl, as a means to thank her for all those years, it was with deep sadness that Hestia could not bring them together again, as that same woman was already lost. Maddy didn't press further, even if she wanted to, believing the reason for that loss may be of divine matter and Hestia sounded like she was in pain just letting her know about it.
› 004. did they attend a camp? — if so, talk about their experiences here.
Maddy did attend a demigod camp where she made a few demigod friends and experienced demigod things. She didn't really excel in anything during that time, however, and basically just flew under the radar, only really having forgettable interactions with others. She did attempt to help everyone and be the kindest person in the camp but, well, it was a demigod camp and everyone was showing off while she was just contented with watching and supporting them all.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests? — if your muse attended a demigod camp, were they ever sent on a quest? more than one? what did the quests entail, and did they fall or succeed?
If memory serves her correctly, and it does, Maddy has only been in three quests so far: (a) helping feed a starving village of satyrs that were mysteriously cut off from the rest of the world, (b) restoring an abandoned mansion and its hearth before it could be demolished, and (c) reuniting a lost child, blinded in an accident, with her parents in a populated city. Maddy was successful with all three quests but she also had help with other Hestia children, some even of other godly parents.
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent? — is it positive, negative, ambivalent? how much contact do they have? does your muse wish it was more or less?
Maddy's relationship with Hestia is a very positive one. Every now and then, Hestia checks in to make sure Maddy is okay, and Maddy definitely appreciates the warmth she receives from her godly parent. It's neither very suffocating nor absent, just the right balance of contact. She does often find herself wondering about that virgin from when she was a child and would like to know more but feels that it would be a line crossed if she asked any further. In the end, she's a demigod, not a god, so she believes she probably has no right to go further than what she is told.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod? — has it benefited your muse in any particular way? if so, in what way?
Maddy has a bittersweet relationship with herself being a demigod. On one hand, she's met all these cool people, made all these cool friends, experienced these cool things. On the other? She often finds it difficult to weigh the use of her abilities, almost always burdened by the uncertainty that they may not be as ethical as she hopes they'd be. Still, she enjoys the practicality of being able to summon food as easy as 1-2-3, being able to heat them up whenever she can and whenever she needs to, and of course the immunities that go with being a demigod.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod? — has it hindered your muse at all in the past? effected their relationships at all?
The ethical and moral dilemma about her using her abilities of serenity inducement and bond manipulation have always weighed heavy on her shoulders. When she was a young girl, she accidentally used her powers to induce serenity between her parents who have been fighting for years, just snapping her fingers and washing all those petty arguments and rational anguish off of them without much effort. When she got older, she realized it was most likely a terrible thing to have done, and she's been debating with herself ever since. To this day, she tries to keep her own use of her abilities at bay, and even then, she often finds herself second-guessing her own relationships, past and present.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency? — you can mention other weapons your muse is proficient in, as well as any battlefield related skills, but be sure to highlight what they’re the most skillful with.
Maddy's weapon is her heart and her battle proficiency revolves around staying away from the actual frontline and sticking to the back where she can help others heal and recuperate. Maddy is not someone anyone would consider to fight beside them in direct combat. She's more the kind of support that should be relegated to keeping the soldiers fed and somewhat healthy, which she's more than happy to be. She is, however, really nifty with kitchen tools and has a pretty good aim with a rolling pin and even a frying pan.

TASK ONE: CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE
› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react?
while athena claimed anya when she was born, she only had a relationship with the goddess for the first two years of her life, so she was never fully aware that she was a demigod. when anya was twelve, athena came back into her life. one night, she walked into her bedroom and there she was. there was something familiar about her even if anya had no recollection of meeting her, and while she could have freaked out that there was a stranger in her bedroom, she felt at ease. that is because anya and athena did know each other, for years anya had simply thought she had been a product of her imagination. however, athena was always there and while she didn’t show up, she was always taking care of her.
athena explained everything to her. it made no sense at first but the more she found out about being a demigod and godly parents, the more her life made sense. she was shocked to find out but eventually she accepted going to summer camp. convincing her mother was a different story, vika didn’t want to believe it despite that her ex-husband (and anya’s biological father) had told her. slowly but surely, vika understood that if she wanted to protect her daughter she would have to let her go.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod?
liudvika vilkienė: vika is anya’s adoptive mother, although to anya she’s just mom. when vika found out she refused to believe that her daughter was athena’s child. given that she could never conceive children, anya’s arrival became her biggest blessing and the thought of sharing her daughter’s love with another woman was hard, let alone share it with a goddess. however, athena explained vika that anya had to go to summer camps and possibly go to eonia as well for her own safety. after anya encountered her first monster, vika finally accepted that anya had to leave for her own safeguard. she still doesn’t understand what it means to have a demigod for a child but she is very supportive and talks to anya almost every day.
nicholas hughes: anya’s biological father whom she doesn’t really know. athena gave anya to nicholas as a gift but he was married to vika at the time. the two agreed to take care of anya but before her first birthday he left and moved to the united states. she doesn’t know much about him except that he’s a famous cartographer and honestly anya doesn’t care about him. when athena told him that anya was his gift, he was shocked but he was so in love with athena that decided to keep anya, however, he wasn’t ready for fatherhood, especially raising a demigod.
tomas navickas: anya’s stepfather and her fatherly figure. he married her mother when she was six years old. tomas was the last one to find out about anya’s demigod status but surprisingly was the one that wasn’t shocked. he always knew that there was something special about anya, and this just confirmed his theories. he knows more about demigods than anya’s mom, and he tries his best to understand what anya is going through. overall, a supportive father.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent?
anya was claimed at birth but she didn’t find she was a demigod until she was twelve.
› 004. did they attend a camp?
yes, anya attended summer camp since she was twelve. her first camp was in spain, she chose this camp because at the time she was learning spanish. there, she met iker bizcay who became her best friend. her experiences at camp were fun, but she often felt homesickness. she had never been away from her mother for more than a weekend, so the first summers it was very hard but having a close group of friends helped her. she mostly did camps in spain and france, but she also attended one in russia but she only stayed there one week before asking to transfer to her usual camp.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests?
while she is athena’s daughter, anya has never been sent on a quest. it has taken a bit of time for her to realize that she should take combat classes more seriously but she still has no interest in fighting.
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent?
she doesn’t get to see athena very often, but the two share a strong bond. anya knows that athena is always looking over her and that’s very comforting. when they get together, they usually talk about anya’s interests for athena is a very involved mother. she loves to talk about architecture with her and overall, athena is a supportive mother.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod?
honestly? the friends she’s made. however, she also likes having powers and she appreciates the skills she has. she loves learning languages and they come very easily to her, so she is happy about that. also she loves having half-siblings, she grew up as an only child but she always dreamed of having a sibling and now she has, so she tries to have a good relationship with all of them. having them makes her feel like she has a home here.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod?
the thing she hates the most is the pressure that comes with being athena’s daughter. everyone expects her to always be perfect, or that’s the way she sees it. the fact that she is not into war is strange to people and she is tired of pretending that she likes to fight. also, anya is a perfectionist and that brings a lot of anxiety. she was diagnosed with ocd when she was fourteen and while she’s been in treatment, she still gets panic attacks very often, but this is something she tries to keep as a secret which only makes it harder to deal with.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency?
while she is not into combat, she is very gifted which obviously comes from her being athena’s daughter. her favorite weapon is the crossbow, and she’s rather good at it but she wouldn’t like to use it on a real battle, although she knows that it could happen. anya also knows a ton about other guns but she lacks practice.

Ved Singh’s Task One
TASK ONE › CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE.
(under the cut: ved’s rambling replies)
› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react? — did their mortal parent tell them, were they attacked by a monster, or did someone seek them out to join a demigod camp? how did they react?
it’s a funny story, actually. my parents already knew i was a demigod because hephaestus, for some reason, went up to them and just told them he was trying something out and made me, i guess? i only found out on the week they decided to ship me out to demigod camp. (laughter) i was, like, mom, dad, if you just don’t want me around anymore, you could just tell me! but then centaurs and satyrs and nymphs and i just went with it. i haven’t met hephaestus, though, so i can’t confirm whether my parents were exaggerating things, but then again, centaurs and satyrs and nymphs, so they were most likely telling the truth. i mean, that explained how fast the microwave always heated up my food and stuff. also how i was so good at fixing my dad’s car as a kid. that one got me a lot of fans in the neighborhood. it was technically child labor but they always gave me applauses and praises, so, yeah...
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod? — were they supportive and proud of your muse? or did they reject your muse, ignore them, or try to hide it? or did they have a change of heart over time?
oh, my parents loved it. they were too doting, to be honest, because all they ever wanted was their son to be an engineer, and there i was, fixing cars and building stuff from scratch at such a young age. my sister hated it, which i completely agreed with, but we always had each other’s backs, so it wasn’t a thing. the rest of the family, and by that, i mean my aunts and uncles and the entire neighborhood just thought i was really, really, really good at machines and stuff, but of course not as good as their favorite niece or nephew.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent? — did their godly parent claim them when they found out when they were a demigod, or was it a delayed reaction?
i guess hephaestus always kept tabs on me, his experiment, so once my powers got good enough for him, we received a letter directing me to attend a camp and later to join eonia. i never met him but my parents said he actually arrived that day to personally deliver the letter (they had drinks, apparently). i had my own thing, unfortunately, so i missed his visit. i was playing video games with my two friends.
› 004. did they attend a camp? — if so, talk about their experiences here.
oh, yeah, i attended a camp. it was very, very, very interesting. i remember going on this hike and one of the routes was down a slippery hill and i slipped and fell and almost broke my tailbone but didn’t? i mean, i guess i should have but that was probably a demigod thing. oh, and i also got yelled at for making a phone out of scratch to watch videos online when we were told that we couldn’t use phones that time. they even confiscated my vedphone. it’s all good, though, because i made three more.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests? — if your muse attended a demigod camp, were they ever sent on a quest? more than one? what did the quests entail, and did they fall or succeed?
i was sent on three, actually, but they all felt like i was just being sent by my dad to get groceries. there was that quest where i was supposed to help procure precious iron ore for this master smith but the ore was in a mine supposedly infested by monsters. when we got there, though, the monsters got spooked by my drone when it exploded. (laughter) i, uhh, meant to make it explode. i think they were just sleeping in that mine and thought some sort of godly power was trying to bomb them out or something. we didn’t even see the monsters, just heard a lot of scratching and clawing and yelping.
the other quest, i was supposed to retrieve a sacred or godly weapon hephaestus made that fell into the hands of minotaurs. well, turns out, that weapon? it was a spare hammer and the minotaurs didn’t even want it. it just fell straight into their home, so we just waited the night, and when they finally left, we just grabbed the hammer and i turned it in to our camp leader and that was that. it was pretty uneventful.
the last quest was just a (clears throat) “contest of crafting” to honor hephaestus, and i won it when my drone played music and didn’t explode this time. i beat a satyr who made a “centaur chair”. yeah.
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent? — is it positive, negative, ambivalent? how much contact do they have? does your muse wish it was more or less?
to be honest, it’s really hard to have a really good relationship with hephaestus when we don’t really have that much contact. i haven’t met him physically and most conversations we have are through my phone or my laptop. the only reason i’m not assuming someone’s just catfishing me is that the messages always knows things that someone who’s just playing with me wouldn’t even bother to know. i’d like to think it’s a positive relationship, though, because he does check up on me every now and then, and he did congratulate me on those quests, but sometimes, i’d really like it if we met physically. it would probably be pretty awkward but it might be nice. i don’t know.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod? — has it benefited your muse in any particular way? if so, in what way?
i mean, i don’t have to call plumbers or electricians when something goes wrong. i can fix my own stuff, so that saves money. i can also fix people’s stuff, which gets me more money. the practicality of it all... that, i like.
oh, and also i can heat up my own burrito without needing to use a microwave. pretty nifty.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod? — has it hindered your muse at all in the past? effected their relationships at all?
hmm. that’s a hard question. i haven’t really had any problems so far about who i am. maybe on the more ethical level, or philosophical level, that kind of thing. like, being a demigod gives me certain advantages over other normal, ordinary humans, so is it really fair that i make money off my abilities or have an easier life than others? most of the time, i don’t really think about it. not at all. my brain’s more into making and fixing stuff, so things like that rarely bother me. when they do, though, oof. also, if i made out with a non-demigod, would that actually be a good thing for them or a worse thing? really deep stuff, you know?
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency? — you can mention other weapons your muse is proficient in, as well as any battlefield related skills, but be sure to highlight what they’re the most skillful with.
robodog. definitely robodog.

TASK O N E / CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE
› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react?
— SHE WAS AT HER LOWEST when she found out. it had been about three months since she reintroduced herself to the world as monica. and, even though her father welcomed her, most kids at school didn’t seem to have as equal of an open mind. for those weeks, she felt more alone and helpless than ever before. it was her mother, iris, who reached out to her. a rather dramatic rainstorm had hit her hometown, and, not one to waste an opportunity, she decided to run onto the lawn and splay herself out on the grass. the rain was cold, yet exhilerating. her eyes were shut tight, embracing the feeling of freedom. momo still can’t say for certain how long she remained out there. the next time she opened her eyes, the most beautiful woman in the world was standing above her, a fond smile on her face as a rainbow began to appear behind the woman. ‘it was like something out of a fucking movie’ momo will tell anyone excitedly.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod?
— HER FATHER WAS NEVER NOT SUPPORTIVE. he always knew the day would come where momo would find out the truth. richard was ready to play his part of cheering his daughter on from the sidelines, because that’s what fathers did, in his book. momo doesn’t have any other family to speak of aside from her now deceased father.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent?
— it was immediate. the moment their eyes locked that first day, monica was claimed. iris felt like a home that she didn’t realize her body had been aching for. a mother.
› 004. did they attend a camp?
— MONICA IS A PROUD ALUMNI of camp half-blood! sometimes, the woman wears her old shirt as pajamas. she attended for seven years in a row, taking part in most activities. even though she isn’t much for battling, archery was one of her favorite pasttimes, along with arts and crafts. if you were her friend at chb, it’s almost a 100% guarantee that she made you a bunch of friendship bracelets.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests?
— NEVER. LITERALLY NEVER. monica’s happy for that. though, she might have gone on a quest with a friend, if she was asked (possible connection??)
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent?
— SHE HAD GOTTEN COMFORTABLE with her mother almost immediately. monica fondly refers to iris as her mama. she always wishes she could talk to her more, but doesn’t want to appear too clingy. after her dad’s death, momo grew a bit distant, anyways. it’s uncertain whether or not she meant to do that.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod?
— BEING PART OF A COLLECTIVE is something monica’s never not dreamed about. belonging somewhere so she didn’t feel so alone anymore.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod?
— IT’S FOR SURE HINDERED any sort of normalcy of a social life. momo’s grown to be confident, but in the same breath she’s been blocked from mortal society. at least, that’s how she feels.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency?
— MONICA ISN’T THE BATTLING TYPE, if she is out on the field, she plays defense, protecting anyone she is fighting with. you can usually see her with a shield. if not, she’s also very nimble on her feet, and makes for both a good distraction or any sort of stealth one may need.

› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react? — did their mortal parent tell them, were they attacked by a monster, or did someone seek them out to join a demigod camp? how did they react?
they’ve always known to some degree? she grew up with her dad telling her she was special but she didn’t really understand it until her powers came in, and when her dad found out about the powers, he came clean about her being a demigod, about the note that was pinned to her when he found her. how she’s always been the kind of kid who can make others feel calm.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod? — were they supportive and proud of your muse? or did they reject your muse, ignore them, or try to hide it? or did they have a change of heart over time?
her father is fully supportive, if not a little clueless. he does his best, really, everything for the sake of his child. and when he found out she has a destructive power, his only instinct was to make sure she’s protective. he took the responsibility of a kid with the full knowledge that she’s a little different. and maybe he’s not entirely prepared, but he wouldn’t trade anaïs for the world.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent? — did their godly parent claim them when they found out when they were a demigod, or was it a delayed reaction?
it’s weird, because she’s technically been claimed since she was a baby. there’s some level of knowing she isn’t technically meant to exist, because she’s a hestia kid. and the mystery of her birth, creation, whatever, simply adds to the fact sometimes she feels a little out of place. she was claimed again when she got to camp, a glowing hearth above her head.
› 004. did they attend a camp? — if so, talk about their experiences here.
she went to camp half blood, which was daunting as hell because one, it’s an entirely new country and english is NOT her first language, nor was she particularly skilled in learning it before she was immersed in the american camp. but it did not deter her from trying to befriend as many people as possible. she was absolutely that annoying kid who came up and spoke to you when you were clearly doing something, because she’s just a little ditzy. she quickly became someone to go to to seek advice about friend relationships, and was a shoulder to cry on for anybody homesick. she wasn’t exactly as active as others, but what she lacked in combat and athleticism was made up for in heart.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests? — if your muse attended a demigod camp, were they ever sent on a quest? more than one? what did the quests entail, and did they fall or succeed?
absolutely not! very much a lover, not a fighter. unless you want her to talk a monster to death, she doesn’t really do well as someone combative. good to have for mediations, though.
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent? — is it positive, negative, ambivalent? how much contact do they have? does your muse wish it was more or less?
she’s only met hestia once in her life, and it was at camp half blood. she doesn’t really have much of an opinion of her, just like most people with hestia, but she recalls feeling very loved from the interaction. like she knew her mom was watching over her from wherever the heck she was.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod? — has it benefited your muse in any particular way? if so, in what way?
she likes that there’s other demigods, and how different they all are. she thinks this is an important community, and it makes her feel less alone knowing there are other people like her out there. maybe they didn’t have similar upbringings, but they understand the struggles of being as powerful as they are more than anybody else.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod? — has it hindered your muse at all in the past? effected their relationships at all?
she doesn’t like her pyrokinesis. it’s become more of a love hate thing, now, but at first, she thought she was an absolute monster. it freaked her out. especially because it’s so destructive, and she thinks she’s very much the opposite of that. she wants to build things up, not destroy them.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency? — you can mention other weapons your muse is proficient in, as well as any battlefield related skills, but be sure to highlight what they’re the most skillful with.
she doesn’t have a weapon of her own, but she’s proficient enough in battle. she took combat classes because she had to at camp, but everybody was pretty much on the same page that she is not meant to fight. she has it in her back pocket just in case people need help defending, and some instances, they have, but as for what she fights with, it’s mainly the fire. or any small dagger/knife she can get her hand on before then.

❛ she’s what we’d call, AN OPEN BOOK. ❜
› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react? — did their mortal parent tell them, were they attacked by a monster, or did someone seek them out to join a demigod camp? how did they react?
how often can things happen before it’s no longer a coincidence? for charlotte & her uncle, that number was well over two dozen instances of display of power. there had always been weird creatures that lurked in corners of restaurants, the dimly lit alleyways of downtown's, the teacher that seemed just a little bit too interested in her personal life. but it came a shock, regardless. greek mythology was never really a huge interest in her life, only a small amount of knowledge that had been obtained from passing discussions within her household. needless to say, charlotte had drowned herself in books in information about the culture surrounding greek mythology.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod? — were they supportive and proud of your muse? or did they reject your muse, ignore them, or try to hide it? or did they have a change of heart over time?
charlotte’s uncle had started to push her away more, leaving to an unknowing family staff to take care of her. she hasn’t really talked to her uncle since she moved onto campus & she does not talk to the rest of her family at all.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent? — did their godly parent claim them when they found out when they were a demigod, or was it a delayed reaction?
charlotte was claimed shortly after her uncle told her about her origins. she had quite literally just woken up & looked in the mirror to see a fiery hammer hovering above her head. eyes were roughly rubbed & a hand waved above her head to make sure that she was saying things correctly. she promptly ran out of the bathroom & back to her bed where she hid for the rest of the day.
› 004. did they attend a camp? — if so, talk about their experiences here.
no, she did not.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests? — if your muse attended a demigod camp, were they ever sent on a quest? more than one? what did the quests entail, and did they fall or succeed?
n/a
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent? — is it positive, negative, ambivalent? how much contact do they have? does your muse wish it was more or less?
the contact between charlotte & hephaestus is honestly bare minimum, but she still appreciates it. she deeply wishes that there’d be more contact with her father, but she also realizes that there are demigods that have no contact with their parent. most of the experiences she has are on the positive side, on the rare occasion that they do happen. charlotte does indeed spend a lot of time praying, talking, and making small offerings to both her father and the other gods and deities within greek mythology. she doesn’t entirely know if they listen, but she likes to think that they do.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod? — has it benefited your muse in any particular way? if so, in what way?
charlotte’s favorite part of being a demigod is the extended family & the abilities that she has to help with her hobbies. she greatly thinks that her heritage has influenced a handful of major life choices & has lead her down a better path than one of not having any godly blood. she now has a wide team behind her to support whatever she does.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod? — has it hindered your muse at all in the past? effected their relationships at all?
she is deeply afraid that she’ll end up spending the rest of her life living in constant fear of the monsters around the corner. the idea of living a perfect life to only have it ripped apart because she dares to leave the grounds keeps her up at night & wakes her up in a cold sweat when she falls asleep. any type of relationship - specifically romantic - leaves her deeply anxious. her worst fear is that her girlfriend or wife would die because they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time & charlotte had no way to defeat them in.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency? — you can mention other weapons your muse is proficient in, as well as any battlefield related skills, but be sure to highlight what they’re the most skillful with.
charlotte's preferred weapons will always swords (specifically a curved sword, long swords, & short swords,) any type of shields (but she’ll go for a lighter - weight one most of the time,) & daggers (scottish, trench, & stiletto.) most of her weapons end up being both designed & made for herself to ensure that it’ll fit well with her body type and fighting ability. fighting wise, charlotte chooses to focuse/use more skills centered around the concept of pankration (which, quite frankly, wears her out quickly & is the least intelligent way to fight.) she follows the traditional greek way of battling which uses defensive moves versus offensive moves in an effort to outsmart her opponent. this battle style uses things such as slashing, tumbling, using her shield as a weapon rather than a protective item, etc. etc.

task one: questionnaire.
001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react?
as a child, rory knew there was something different about him. he never made friends easily, other children were afraid of him. he was never invited to play with people on the playground and, at his mother’s insistence, when he tried joining without asking, they just brushed him of and left to do something else. even his teachers found him off putting, though they were better in not showing their prejudice against a child.
his mother promised she would explain everything to him when he was older, that it was okay that he was different and that differences were what made for variety, otherwise life would be boring. her words had made him feel better, she had made him feel better, just with her presence. to rory, there was nothing that couldn’t be solved by spending time with his mom. and like all children, he liked making or giving her stuff that showed his appreciation. macaroni glued to a picture frame? check. drawn pictures in crayon of the two of them hung up on the fridge? check.
but also like all children, he liked sparkly objects and when he saw something red and glittery in the ground, he brought it to his mom because he thought it was beautiful like her. he thought she would like it. being told to put it back where he found it and quickly had almost broken his heart because he thought she didn’t like it. but later that night, she said it was another thing she would explain to him when he was older.
she never got the chance to explain.
finding out his true parentage wasn’t something happened until years down the line. a fury, though he hadn’t known the name of it, attacked him while he walked home from school as a teenager. when he found shelter at a camp in the hills of scotland and finally had everything explained to him, things clicked.
the reaction wasn’t pretty. he spent the majority of his first night at camp, miraculously without a scratch, asking the older kids if they had alcohol, any kid of alcohol, or cigarettes, or weed. a hermes kid two years older had supplied him with tequila and he spent the majority of his night in his cabin (alone, as he always was) getting drunk for the first time.
002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod?
there isn’t a single soul still alive that rory considers part of his family. the twin sister he’d never known had died when they were born (rory blames that on himself as well, after learning that he was the reason, he’d taken all the nutrients and she couldn’t survive). his mother died of a disease that had come on rapidly and taken her life just as fast despite having been on the mend. the foster families were close enough, maybe, but not enough that he feels close.
the rhodes were the closest thing he would get to a family and he has never viewed them as parents. even as a kid, he referred to them by their first names, the entire time he’d been in their care. they were easily the best of the bunch when it came to the foster families he’d been placed into throughout his youth, he lasted three years with the rhodes. there had even been talks of adopting him when he had started to make progress in therapy and he began opening up little by little. that same week he’d been attacked by the fury and had run.
sending them a letter explaining that it wasn’t their fault was one of the hardest things he’d had to do. he didn’t explain even a fraction of the full story, rationalizing to himself that they were safer if they didn’t know the truth about him. they haven’t seen him in eight years but they keep in contact with letters. he always leaves out the details about where he is, about what he is, despite them asking almost every time. he just promises that he’s safe. they always tell him that they love him but he never says it back.
he might not see them as his parents, but they see him as their son.
003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent?
for most demigods, they get claimed by their parent after their true nature comes to light and their godly parent can no longer deny it. even so, it has to be when the child was no older than thirteen. at thirteen, rory was getting attacked by a fury and led to camp by a ghost, the first and one of the few times he’d been able to summon a spirit.
the second he’d found people inside the camp, the director looking him over for scratches, which he was surprisingly without for having a fury on his ass the entire way across the country, was the second a glowing skull and crossbones appeared over his head. rory kinnon, son of hades.
004. did they attend a camp?
camp, like everything else in his life, was a mixed bag for rory. at camp, he had his first kiss, his first drink, his first heartbreak. the bad outshone the good, like always. he was alone in his cabin there, as there weren’t too many children of hades to begin with (rory doubted he strayed as often as other gods and goddess did). he never made any effort to be included, as he had been burned and shunned too many times in his childhood to make that mistake again but sometimes he got included anyway. and despite the protests, the begrugding attitude as he went along with it, he was always thankful to at least feel like he belonged. after all, wasn’t everyone at the camp an outsider at one point in their life.
when he was fourteen, he’d found himself in a relationship with a son of athena, parker. the relationship lasted less than a year but rory still regards him as one of the only people that he’s ever actually cared about and who cared about him.
from that point on, it just solidified the idea that him being around other people was bad luck. he hated himself for interacting with someone who had less than a year before they died. he thought it would be okay and maybe he could change it.
005. was your muse ever sent on any quests?
parker going on a quest was the closest rory had ever come to going on one himself. when he was packing that night, rory had been in the athena cabin, trying to convince him to change his mind. they’d only allowed three demigods to go on the quest, anymore would draw too much attention, and rory had been told that he wasn’t going. the entire night, he was plagued with visions of how parker would die and he thought, maybe if he went with them instead of some vapid daughter of aphrodite, he would die in parker’s place. he was of more use to the world than rory was. people would be upset to lose parker. no one would feel that way about rory.
despite being told to stay at camp, he’d tried shadow traveling for the first time when he started to feel antsy waiting for parker to get back. he wasn’t allowed to go on the quest but what the camp directors didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them.
shadow traveling wasn’t one of the few things he was naturally gifted at. through sheer dumb luck, he’d managed to get himself to the right place but it had exhausted him so much he hadn’t been able to save parker when the moment came. at most, he had parker’s head in his lap as he died and threatened the other demigods on the quest with death if they told anyone he had been there.
006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent?
hades is not dad of the year as far as rory is concerned. everything that has ever gone wrong in rory’s life could be attributed to him in one way or another. the death of his first, and only, boyfriend had plagued him thanks to his gift of sensing death.
he wouldn’t have ever met parker if his father hadn’t sent a fury to chase him, scaring him enough that he summoned a ghost without even realizing it to lead him to camp, where he would be safe.
he wouldn’t have needed to be chased to camp if his mother hadn’t died as a direct result of misfortune falling her after rory gave her one of the gems he found in the ground as part of his ferrokinesis. she would have told him and taken him to camp herself.
he wouldn’t have been born if hades didn’t take an interest in his mother to begin with.
rory refuses to hold his tongue when speaking ill about his father. he regularly curses him out, talks shit, and speaks as if he was speaking directly to him, though the words have never once been spoken with kindness. he doesn’t fear retribution.
what’s the worst that happens? hades sends someone an infernal army to kill him. if there was even a chance of it happening, rory would step foot outside of the safety of eonia and tell him to do it already.
007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod?
there are very, very few things rory considers a perk of being a demigod and the only one he actually enjoys is the means of making money. though taking gems from the ground brings misfortune to others lives, rory cares very little for other people and happily takes all of the gems he brings to the surface. self taught, he cuts them and makes jewelry out of them, selling them on etsy. there’s mail going out from him on any given day, which is more money going into his pocket.
along with that, rory has moments where he enjoys being a son of hades. people have always been put off by him and as a child, it was upsetting. he hadn’t been doing anything wrong as a kid, he just wanted to make friends. as an adult, making friends is the absolute last thing he wants. and while some people aren’t necessarily affected by the air of ... off that comes with being a child of hades, there tends to be a disconnect from him and the rest of the student body.
008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod?
rory can count the amount of people on one hand that he’s close with. (it’s zero.) his relationships are superficial at best and nonexistent at worst. being able to sense death is a curse in and of itself. after being there while two people died, the grief is endless and he knew it was coming. he would rather have it be a surprise, as horrible as it is, when people die. to be able to spend time with them and enjoy it while it lasts, not be counting down the months, weeks, days, minutes, until someone meets their end.
he would give anything to be able to just be without seeing someone’s death ahead of them.
009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency?
his weapon of choice is stygian iron knife. he had summoned the iron from the ground once after hours of concentrating and had promptly taken it to a hephaestus camper who would be able to craft something out of it far better than he ever could. there wasn’t enough there to make a sword so he settled for a knife. a weapon was a weapon and this one was deadly to anyone who pissed him off.
along with that, he is pretty handy with a bow and arrow, though not even close to the children of apollo’s skills. he’s used stygian iron to make arrowheads and treats them with the most care possible. stygian iron goes through the river styx to be made and being able to bring any at all to the surface is a gift he was unwilling to overlook.

› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react ?
samson’s first experience with his demigod powers came when he was eight years old ; an instinctive reaction, he sang what he thought was a lullaby in english learnt from his mother ( but was in fact one from his father in ancient greek ) in an attempt to calm his best friend lila down when she skinned her knee. little did he know that this would become his unofficial claiming, her wound healing almost instantaneously as apollo responded to his healing song.
easy to dismiss as an overactive imagination, the two friends kept it a secret from their parents, and it isn’t until he’s twelve and narrowly escapes an attack from a snake way bigger than average thanks to a man with the legs of a goat ( just when things couldn’t get any weirder ) that the satyr fully explains his demigod heritage to him and his stunned family.
he took it well considering ; the prospect was quite exciting, puzzle pieces slotting into place that he hadn’t realised had been missing ( the absence of a father had never been a huge point of contention in his life thanks to the endless love offered by his mother and grandparents ). going off to camp was an adventure, and he wouldn’t realise the seriousness of the danger he was in as the son of a god until many years later.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod ?
his family have been nothing but supportive. grace always had her suspicions but never fully believed the claims of her golden-haired lover when he boasted he was the god of music — until even she couldn’t deny the presence of something other when the satyr appears in their living room and proclaims samson’s life is in danger.
of course they worry, but samson has a relatively smooth upbringing, summer camp more of an enriching experience than one that teaches children to fight for their lives. it isn’t until the attack at the theatre that it truly hits home, and when grace is seriously injured and lila killed, there’s a growing resentment towards absent father and ‘ the demigod curse ’ that he’s put upon their family. but that resentment would never extend to samson — even if he feels nothing but guilt over his mother’s injuries — and they support him throughout his studies at eonia, visiting annually when they’re able.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent ?
samson’s unofficial claiming came the first time he used his healing powers at eight years old ; his official claiming came the second he stepped upon the island of camp haumana, a golden lyre blazing bright upon his forehead and only solidifying feelings of wholeness at knowing that missing part of his heritage.
› 004. did they attend a camp ?
camp haumana ( mixed meaning ; literal translation is ‘ student ’ in hawaiian, ‘ peaceful spirit ’ in tahitian ) was samson’s home every summer from ages 12 to 17. situated on the equator between hawaii and french polynesia, the uninhabited island was repurposed as a refuge for demigods from all pantheons, especially favoured by those born in the oceania region.
being quite isolated, there were only 23 others at camp during his time there. instead of being split up by god, they were split by pantheon, and samson found himself sharing a cabin with the other greek demigods on the island, making quick friends with twins of poseidon kai and malia. their schedule was based less around war strategy and more around nurturing activities that made use of the natural landscape, incorporating local sports such as outrigger canoe and surfing while being careful to be respectful to the island and the gods once worshipped there.
a haven of peace, samson still carries fond memories of his time at camp ; climbing through treetops on makeshift obstacle courses, firing arrows in a clearing lined with blossoming wildflowers, singing tahitian songs his grandmother taught him around a roaring campfire. in comparison, camp athen’s stricter fighting schedule took him a while to adjust to when he was first on placement there, and he found his edges softening in response for the new demigod arrivals, remembering his own warm welcome and how that impacted his stay.
the people he met at camp haumana became family, and he has plans to visit the permanent residents as soon as the school year is over, wanting to make amends ( there have been opportunities to visit before now, but he always found reasons to avoid going since the funeral ).
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests ?
he was never sent on any quests during his time at camp. there was a request to join on one by the two demigods he was closest to, but he turned it down in favour of performing as fiyero in his school’s production of wicked, the promise of the head of juilliard’s admissions attendance what swayed his decision.
the quest was doomed from that point onwards, samson’s proficiency in healing unmatched by even the resident camp healer who wasn’t of apollo ancestry. by the time kai and malia are found their wounds are too great and the quest is deemed a failure, samson told in person by his father after his own monster attack at the theatre which only exacerbates the guilt he feels over rejecting their request.
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent ?
complicated. he’d be surprised if any demigod didn’t have a similar relationship — over the years since he last saw apollo he’s grown a great deal, having come to terms with his own faults and the part he played in their happenings. the raw resentment he felt for his father at eighteen is now dulled by time, but there’s still a barrier he’s put up between them at the god’s apparent unwillingness to accept responsibility for the monster attacks he and his family are in danger from every time he steps outside eonia’s walls. he’s grateful for him for healing his mother, but his father still leaves much to be desired.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod ?
while he believes he’d still have the same love if he wasn’t the son of apollo, samson loves just how connected he is to music and how easily he picks up anything music related. despite the path of a performer being one he left many years ago, there’s no better place than losing yourself in song, expressing his mana and allowing himself to be free.
he’s also come to truly appreciate his healing powers and how much good he can do with them. he’s always wanted to inspire, to be a beacon of light for people that when he was younger would express through the arts. now he channels that energy into being there for his fellow demigods, kids like him who had no choice in being born into their circumstances. he’s found his true calling, and while there are fleeting times he wishes he could just be normal, he knows this is where he’s meant to be.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod ?
the danger. the feeling of always watching over your shoulder when you step outside protected walls. he hates that people were hurt because of him, and will carry that guilt around as a permanent reminder for as long as he draws breath. he hates that despite demigods dying around the world seemingly every day, their parents are loathe to react, to protect those they’ve helped create. it’s a big subject of contention, and one he will always make known to his closest friends who are aware what he’s campaigning for.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency ?
samson’s primary weapon is a bow and arrow gifted to him by apollo just after his twelfth birthday. after his attack and how he didn’t have it to hand when he needed it, he made a deal with his father to imbue an arrow tattoo he had inked on his forearm with a simple recalling spell, meaning all he has to do is place the three fingers he uses to draw back the bow to his tattoo and the weapon will appear.
he’s proficient enough in hand to hand combat, but prefers long range in a fight ; his archery skills unmatched by those that aren’t apollo’s children, using them to help teach at camp athens whenever he’s there on placement.

in the northern reaches of canada, playful outdoor hockey on frozen lakes known as shinny is as sure of a past time as huddling up by the fireplace. never one to be bothered by the cold, jason spent most of the young childhood skating out on some lake or another, usually with friends or teammates until they eventually called it quits when the sun started to sink lower and the even colder night chill began to roll in. he should’ve left with them, really, his mother was going to worry as she always did — though never as much as the other mothers, not out of any less concern, but perhaps she knew that water would not harm jason. all the times he’d gotten picked out of the frigid saguenay fjord and didn’t get so much as a cold were probably a dead giveaway.
so he’s alone when it happens, probably for the best : it means the mist doesn’t have to work overtime to alter the memories of his friends. winter is just starting to break into the warmer season of spring, the worst time of year if you ask jason. it just signals the end of outdoor hockey, soon to be moved to the confines of a temperature controlled rink. he’s stubborn, intent on getting every hour out of the frozen ice on the lake that he possibly can, even if that means avoiding certain spots of the lake. but he must miscalculate because he hears the telltale cracking of ice beneath his skates — and not the comforting deep cracking sounds that accompanies a freezing lake. this is the bad kind of cracking, the one that proceeds plunging into freezing water and possibly dying of hypothermia. tyler’s mother had showed them all a video of someone falling through thin ice when they were all old enough to want to skate on the lake, probably to shake fear and caution into them ( it’s worked, for the most part ). for the first time out on the lake, jason is terrified.
it’s probably this terror that unlocks what will become his specialty in the years to come. he never plunges into the icy depths of the lake ( even though if he had, he would’ve remained dry and unaffected ), because he freezes the whole thing solid. he then passes out because of it, the volume of water he just changed something he won’t have the stamina to repeat for quite a while. his mother and the father of one of his friends find him on the lake much later, burning up from fever, his eleven year old body trying to cope with the excess energy it just absorbed.
it’s a mystery what happened exactly, to everyone but his mother had known eventually the godly part of his blood would demand to manifest as more than an ease on ice or the way beluga whales always seemed to come to whatever boat he was on. it’s on a boat in the middle of the saint lawrence that she tells him the truth. jason takes it pretty well, for someone just told his father is the lord of the sea. if anything, he knows it to be true the moment his mother tells him, the final piece of a puzzle falling into place.
not long after his twelfth birthday that summer, instead of staying in saguenay, he’s shipped off to camp voreios even further north in canada.
› 𝟎𝟎𝟐: 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘦’𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘰𝘥?
leila goldhirsch never had any doubts of the child she carried for nine months and then loved from the moment he was born. she always knew it was a bit of inevitability that his godly side would present itself, much like the ocean never deigns to be ignored. there was always more to that man she had a brief but momentous relationship with, more than just the kinda captain of the ship she used for that whole summer studying beluga whales in the saint lawrence. she didn’t know whether or not to believe him when he said he was the lord of the sea, but like the ocean, the truth is undeniable. and so she did her best to raise jason normally, worried like any good mother though his father had promised to keep him safe.
( he still doesn’t know this — but one of those fisherman who picked him out of the fjord had been him ).
— and she worried after the attack, wanting to protect her son but having no way of protecting him from the monsters that were inside his head. she’ll always worry, probably, though she’s happy that he seems to have found himself again at eonia.
jason’s stepfather is a whole other story, just for the simple fact that he doesn’t know about poseidon, still believing jason’s biological father was simply the boat captain of a ship many, many years ago. jason and his mother never figured out a way to too tell him and well... it feels a little too late for that now.
› 𝟎𝟎𝟑: 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵?
he’s just arrived at camp voreios, age twelve and fitting in even more easily than most despite his young age — sparking the rumor that he must be a son of hermes. he’d been aware of his godly parentage even for a few months now in an unofficial sense, though still officially “unclaimed,” not that it made a whole lot of difference at camp voreios who roomed attendees by age instead of godly parentage. he remains quiet to the fact though, appreciating the suspense of it all even at a young age.
it’s a few days later after the first campwide game that things get official. jason’s fresh off scoring a game-winning goal when the glowing sea-green trident appears over his head effectively hushing the previously rowdy arena.
camp voreios had never had a child of poseidon before : he was the first.
› 𝟎𝟎𝟒: 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘱?
camp voreios, the northern camp ( grammatically i think it should actually be voreios camp but to stick with pjo naming conventions... ), sits in some of the most remote reaches of quebec, far by pretty much all terms, and it is here that some of the most elite demigods are trained. obscured from mortal eyes as a longterm and extremely competitive program for only the most elite youth hockey players, there’s a bit of truth to that. most who attend that camp are between the ages of twelve and eighteen, the graduates commonly accepted into colleges with impressive hockey programs and a very select few like jason into the canadian hockey league. though almost all in attendance could easily fit in talentwise in the chl, most opt to not go through the additional testing and training into order to determine if they’re fit to go the professional route. their “recruitment” is a smattering of satyr scouts and coaches who scour youth hockey programs for demigods.
the camp sits on the edge of a lake, something jason found incredibly satisfying and it was on this lake this he truly honed his abilities of phase manipulation of water and water sensitivity. he did dabble in the other aspects of hydrokinesis ( specifically, the manipulation of actual water ) at least enough to be respectable at it, but he found it more dull and less useful, preferring to explore control of water in its ice state. you’d never see him try to create a tsunami wave or something.
a hockey centric demigod camp was as exciting as it came. though they would play against mortal teams to learn to exercise control over their abilities in the heat of a game ( and as a result, learn to control themselves in high emotion situations ), there were plenty of demigod hockey games that were almost a free for all. the only thing they didn’t allow jason to do was manipulate the actual ice of the rink, citing that was a bit of an unfair advantage even for them. camp voreios was also the home to the art of swordplay on ice, more for pure fun than any true necessity — though it was argued that the heightened speed of a fight on ice was good for developing reflexes and training the mind to analyze an opponent more quickly. there’s probably some truth to that.
camp voreios, unlike many demigod camps, was not a summer camp. instead it ran around the hockey season, meaning it took students for the duration of the school year and released them to do as they pleased in the summer though many stayed the duration. occupants are schooled with a mixture of online and at local schools. jason was in attendance at camp voreios from ages twelve to sixteen almost year round, save for the month of july when he returned home to saguenay. the intent of camp voreios was to rigorously train their attendees for the real world — practically the epitome of tough love.
at sixteen, jason knew he wanted to try to peruse hockey professionally if he could, the fourth of camp voreios attendees who expressed this intention. the camp only allowed the most elite on the ice and more apt at protecting themselves to enter professional leagues where there was a much higher profile and higher risk. jason passed their aptitude tests and so at sixteen, he was drafted to the rouyn-noranda huskies and left camp voreios, though he’d return in the summer occasionally as well as encounter and maybe help a little bit some on their yearly scavenger hunt.
› 𝟎𝟎𝟓: 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴?
camp voreios didn’t get sent on an awful lot of quests compared to much bigger camps, though the directors of the camp often sent campers out on their own in an unofficial capacity in order to gain “real world experience” tussling with real monsters and getting a taste of real danger — call it that tough love. most common was a massive scavenger hunt that took up nearly three weeks every spring after hockey season ended where the entire camp was split into groups of two or three and sent out across north america to retrieve increasingly rare items.
however, jason was sent on one official god-sanctioned quest at the tender age of thirteen. he’d been at camp for about a year and a half at that point and participated in one scavenger hunt and thus deemed ready. gotta start them young, right ?? besides, it was a quest for one of the missing prongs on the trident of poseidon, and as the only child of poseidon at camp voreios who else was supposed to go ?? he was dispatched with a daughter of aphrodite ( 15 ) and son of hermes ( 16 ), though jason’s leadership skills soon became evident even as young as he was. the quest took them two weeks to complete, and took them everywhere from the stiffling grand canyon ( not jason’s favorite place ) to niagara falls ( marginally better ), culminating with them on the coast of nova scotia, the first time jason had seen the real ocean. he’ll claim he jumped, witnesses claim he fell, but either way, he ended up deep in the atlantic ocean where he finally met his godly father for the first time.
› 𝟎𝟎𝟔: 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘥𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵?
jason met poseidon when he was thirteen and he was nothing like he expected. he wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but much like the sea he supposes it depends. poseidon has never felt different than the sea on a calm day. he’d say his relationship with him is more the positive side of neutral then negative, despite the fact they’ve only spoken face to face a handful of times.
jason never was someone who needed words to know he was cared for and he recognizes the ways poseidon cares for him as his son in ways other than words : in the safe passages he grants him every fall and spring as he sails over the atlantic, the way he feels at home in the ocean, and the way he’d been soothed and in some ways healed by the ocean after the attack. he just takes their contact it as it is, seeing no reason to wish for things to be different than they are.
› 𝟎𝟎𝟕: 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘦’𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘰𝘥?
the day jason learned about his water sensitivity was one of the best in his life. though it’s hardly as flashy as his hydrokinesis, the additional perspective is one his cherishes quite closely. there’s something to be said for feeling like you connect to the world, even in the oddest of ways. he can’t deny he loves freezing water though — there’s nothing like skating under and open sky and with a bit of work, his hydrokinesis ability made that possible.
there is, of course, his prowess on the ice, though he’s not sure if he wants to contribute that to being a demigod. he’d like to believe that even without godly blood in his veins that he still would’ve been good enough to be drafted into the chl.
› 𝟎𝟎𝟖: 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘦’𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘰𝘥?
power comes with a cost, and sometimes jason thinks that price is too high. as much as he knows he can’t wring the godly blood out of him, there are days he wishes he could is only to save what he’d been building in rouyn-noranda. evan had been young, beautiful, talented, and very much mortal. there’s no reason he or any of the others of his team should have had to die because a pack of monsters were intent on slaying the son of poseidon. it’s an endless battle in jason’s head between what he knows to be true and the endless guilt he still feels constricted around his heart. because what’s the point of having power if it still wasn’t enough to protect the people he cared about ??
› 𝟎𝟎𝟗: 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘦’𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺?
it’s rare to see jason without osisko, his celestial bronze sword that also takes the convenient forms of a hockey stick or a bronze bracelet on his left wrist. it was a gift to him when he was drafted into the chl at sixteen ( visuals and more detailed information on osisko HERE ). it is without a doubt his main weapon, and the one he’s most trained at, though if he had to he could fight with a trident pretty well ( thanks dad ). given osisko’s ability to return to him even if lost in battle, he rarely has to default to other weapons, though at even closer hand-to-hand combat with daggers or knives, he’s proficient as well since the concept is quite similar. where he severely lacks is in any long range weapons like archery or spears — sadly his accuracy with a puck does not seem to translate to arrows or anything of the type.
jason isn’t absolute top tier elite at swordplay, though he holds his own quite respectively and probably comes in the top ten percent, aided in part by his sheer athleticism due to the strong, active life he’s lived since he was quite young, training both to be a demigod and a good hockey player. factor in his hydrokinesis when available, and you can probably get him to the top five percent. he can get quite competitive in matchups, which also informs his ability to hold his own out of sheer will. there’s also something to be said that he attended a demigod camp practically year round for four years, allowing him a much longer length of training in his formative years than just the typical three month summer camp.
he has extremely good endurance ( endurance and like... endurance 😉, y’know ?? alsdkfjlsks ) and often fights smarter, not harder, using his opponent’s weaknesses and the environment to his advantage. as a defenseman, he’s quick to analyze offensive players of the fastest paced sport in the world to hinder their plan by the time they get to the blueline — this ability transfers beautifully to battle proficiency and fights. he has to work quite hard to get as good as he has, the observing part he was always quite good at, it was getting his fighting ability up to the level where he could actually do something to hinder the offense he knew was coming. he obviously most easily gains the upper hand when on the beach, a boat, or if someone foolishly decides they do want to face him in one of camp voreios’ created past times : swordplay on ice.
#;; headcanon#euquestionnaire#( ayyy folks#we finally made it alsdkfj )#( there are probably typos in this bc i can't be bothered to read it over )#( questionnaire is such a weird word#why does it have two n's? )

› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react?
Demeter popped back in out of the blue on her eight birthday!! Her father had known Amelia’s mother was actually a goddess but he’d made such an effort in pretending it wasn’t true that Amelia and her stepmom had no clue (she’d even baptized Amelia). That pissed off Demeter and so, she broke the news to the rest of the family: Amelia was in aggressive denial (and also made a little demonstration of her unknown powers: an earthquake that made a crack in between them and herself, her stepmom was successfully freaked and took off forever. Things have really just gone downhill since then.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod?
Amelia’s father has always known, and he really shows no resentment towards her. If anything, it pains them both to have her struggle with the demigod life (powers out of control, monsters lurking around every corner). Her stepmother– not ex-stepmother is an entirely different thing. A woman devoted to the catholic church, she was shocked and scared about the whole thing... it was almost as if her daughter had died right then and there. They haven’t spoken since.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent?
Demeter pretty much claimed her at birth... but on an official account, Amelia was claimed the very same day Demeter showed at her birthday party.
› 004. did they attend a camp?
Amelia attended camp in France for about 10 years... it was torture for her. She didn’t care for her powers and the fighting and the training, all she wanted to do was to go back home and pretend nothing of this whole godly business was real. Unfortunately she couldn’t, because of the monsters and because of her very out-of-control powers. For a summer she was transferred to the Athens camp where a sword was forced into her hand but they couldn’t really do much about her powers. Then, she came to spend a year in Camp Half-Blood where they forced her to train her geokinesis. she went on her first quest and everything, but that one soon proved to be her last as her powers got out of control and she made a vow never to intentionally use them again. Until the age of 18, she spent her days on France’s camp but she really trained the minimum.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests?
( specifics tbd )
She was sent to one quest. A camper asked her to join, thinking it would encourage her training, boy were they wrong. At the climax of the quest, something went wrong and Amelia’s geokinesis got completely out of control. Somebody got hurt because of her and to this day, she hasn’t used her geokinesis on purpose ever again.
›006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent?
Definitely negative. While Demeter definitely has tried to reach out and fix things a bit, Amelia i deadly set on hating her forever. It’s definitely drastic and childish, but that’s just how she likes it. Things went wrong the minute Demeter showed her face once more and Amelia needed not to look any further for an object to place all of the blame on.
›007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod?
She hates it here. If anything, she likes that she can now help plants stay alive, but that came after a whole lot of effort.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod?
Everything else. The woman she called mother left her for it, she was forced to spend half of her life away from her home and her father, she can’t seem to manage living in the mortal world without awful consequences and to make things worse, her powers, the ones that should make her excited about the demigod life, only seem to be tools for death and destruction.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency?
She prefers the sword to everything else, if only because it doesn’t require as much contact as the dagger does. She’s fairly decent with it, probably could be better if she bothered to train more. In combat, speed and strength, Amelia’s fairly decent too– she’s especially fast and light on her feet. Honestly all of this doesn’t really come from natural talent, rather than 10 years worth of training. She’d be a force to be reckoned with if she’d been determined to actually be a good warrior ten years ago.

› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react? — MINNIE was always aware that she was special; all she ever had to do was think of something she wanted to see play out before her on a screen and instinct would possess her; she would code madly, work her fingers sore in sketch and 3D mold, and in a matter of weeks her game would be made. Without any prior schooling in animation or complex code, she’d achieve what she dreamed, and her work spoke for itself in brilliance. She was successful, and she knew it was due to no prodigious bone of her own. Like any demigod, Minerva is a mortal medium for godly power. It is an inhuman, unexplainable self-knowing.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod? — MINERVA was adopted as a baby and raised by a quaint, pious community in high green, united kingdom. she briefly grew up around 2 other foster teens before she began her early career; and in time they moved onto their own lives outside of the church. before he left the oldest boy, colin, told her that when she was his age she would have the right idea like him, name this place a ‘deadend cult.’ and do the same. she never called one particular woman “mother,” albeit there was only one “father.” they all believe she was touched by an angel in her mother’s womb, and brought to them as a ble$$ing. she feels they have the right enough idea to be spared of the polytheist details. she loves her family, they hate her tattoos, and she’s very sensitive about the church. the word ‘cult’ makes her stomach sick. they aren’t bad people, just a little medieval.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent? — AROUND AGE 12, minerva had fallen into a work-driven hysteria. she hadn’t slept in nearly three days, and was obsessed with finishing the last details of a first-person dragon quest for PC by a self-assigned deadline. she test drove the 5th avatars flight, soaring through a flaming hot sky of her own design, eyes glazed with its stars. she spotted an unsightly fold in number 6′s left wing, and began exhausting tears of frustration. the dark room felt sticky with lights, and they swirled above her while the young girl sobbed into her aching hands. the inside of her eyelids were dark with pressure spots, dissipating and rippling while they leaked. minnie cried often, but this time was different. she felt heavy with self understanding and compassion, not her usual self pity. and that feeling alone made her realize she wasn’t the only one in her head at the moment. she opened her eyes, but the world around her resembled the backs of her eyelids; and minerva began panicking, fearing she’d gone blind. but a gust of wind made her skin pucker, a neon rainbow flashed before her like a screen turning on, the grids of color flowed like waves in her direction, and on its horizon appeared her mother. there was a sudden flash of knowing, purpose, clarity, divinity, nirvana, that overwhelmed the tired minerva’s entire soul. for a moment, she knew each truth and godly whim. then, a soft reminder of her mortal form set into her. iris told her to save her progress, and to get some rest. the wonder faded, and she could see again.
she slept into the day after next.
› 004. did they attend a camp? — in the summer of her 13th year, minerva was visited by a cherub of iris, and encouraged in a letter from her mother to attend a camp half-blood stationed in japan. she never went, afraid they’d make her part with her computers and have her go outside in the daylight and exercise and do all the things she’d dread. as an adult, minnie regrets never going for at least one summer. however, she figures her life at eonia so far was everything she would have missed anyways.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests? — non-applicable.
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent? — since her vision of her mother, minnie “dreams” of her mother every full moon. they fly in the night through a neon heaven, dance in the clouds, eat unearthly fruits, talk of her ideas, and all the things she could only simulate in the waking world. she looks forward to their monthly meetings.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod? — MINNIEGAMES would not exist without her demigod abilities, and she knows without them she’d live an ordinary, sheltered life in the church. the fact that being a demigod gave her an alternative from a life of being ordinary and incapable of manifesting ones most elaborate daydreams, is her pulse at this point.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod? — BEFORE arriving at eonia, minerva loved everything about her identity. upon seeing the abilities and proficiencies of other demigods, however, she realized how much her satisfaction with life relied on HER being the big fish in the little pond. she wont admit it because she knows her individuality complex is her most distasteful trait, but her least favorite part about being a demigod is other demigods.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency? — MINERVA is a mental fighter to a major fault. she’s simulated combat countless times for her games, but she’s never been in a proper fight of her own. her dancing skills are decent as hell, but the correlation between dance and combat doesn’t dawn on her easily. she has no weapon of choice, nor any first-hand experience in using one. she assumes she’ll breeze through life without an encounter with danger.
