Euphoria, unpopular opinion and long rant :

Euphoria is accurate, it's just not a show for teenagers but for people who need to come to terms with their messed up teenagehood, or for adults in general to understand it. It is romanticised but it is in fact the way we tend to see things when we're in this cycle, this situation...we think it's so pretty and we're so cool but then we realise it's ugly as fuck. Maybe sometimes the show doesn't romanticise it, but the viewers do. Maybe some shows aren't meant for everyone. I'd love to see a show like euphoria where the last episode the aesthetic veil falls down and you see just all the disgust and despair the aesthetic covered up, as the characters starts to get it.

(Thought I lowkey defend euphoria in this (mostly I don't defend it's just expressing thoughts and opinions) I still think Sam Levinson has troubles with sexualising teenagers (all of Hollywood really) and stealing other artists' style and art)

Euphoria seems unrealistic until you grasp the concept of toxicity in your own teenage self and feel the unreadable depth of your own loneliness and guilt scratching at your back. No really, euphoria (and skins) is about fucked up kids doing fucked up shit cause they have no idea what the fuck they're doing and they're egoist and wrong and bad people but YOU'RE DOOMED TO BE FUCKING BAD WHEN NO ONE TEACHES YOU HOW TO BE GOOD AND ALL THERE IS IS HURT. Everyone hates Cassie but she's just an accurate representation of a girl trying to extermine herself just to fit in to please a boy she likes cause no man ever took care of her and her mother does the best she can but it's not enough cause she suffers too and she just feels abandonned. Attention seeking is often a call for help. Y'all just hate Cassie cause she doesn't fit into your "nice quiet sad girl" fantasy.

Same for most characters actually. Yeah they "act older than they should", especially with sexuality. But this show is about the shit we do as teenagers when we're trying to be independant and we've internalised trauma and patriarchy and so many shit comes out at this time of our lives.

Idk how to express that euphoria characters are flawed and each of them is deeply wrong in so many ways and it is precisely the point, at least in my opinion. For me, it is not a show for teenagers. It is a show for adults to understand what happened to them, or to teenagers in general, and to warn or to help come to terms with what you've been through and the shitty person you used to be in high school, the shit that happens to you, the shit you've done to others, but also to yourself...Not saying everything is forgivable, Nate's a downright abusive prick, but it's also an interesting character because it questions where morals come from : he has no other model growing up than his father. To change you have to have a shock, especially when you come from a wrong place. And school don't teach you morals, ethics, how to treat people right. You may think it's logic, and so do I, but because it has always been for us. But see further, see reality TV, history, the government, toxic masculinity, forcing kids to kiss their grandparents to "be polite"...violence has mechanism, and these mechanisms are intertwined with the way we grow up. Not saying to not blame grown ass men (and women sometimes) doing awful shit, we all got our responsabilities and abuse is not justified in any way. But the intrications of violence, to me, are something to be questioned and thought about if we want to make the world a better place, cause obviously prison and laws don't do shit about this part of society. Nate's a reflection of toxic masculinity.

When I tell people that the world is currently obsessed with TV shows that are downright depressing and that shows like gossip girl, the beneddict society, and others should get renewed over stuff like Ginny and Georgia. Then proceed to argue how Ginny and Cassie are young teens made out to be villains which is incredibly negative for teenage girls to see:

Ah, my robot son!

How I feel about this character: I still wear my Wheatley necklace. I don't think I need to explain any further, haha.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: None! I don't ship any of the Portal cast romantically.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Wheatley & Chell being friends is excellent (like, building up a friendship again post-canon) and Wheatley & Space Core friendship is also excellent.

My unpopular opinion about this character: He was at fault for like 95% of the stuff he did. I don't blame him for getting addicted to the test euphoria because I don't think he realized how addiction works. (Though even knowing how it works doesn't prevent people from succumbing to them! Addiction's a scary thing.) That said, he's still at fault for all the awful stuff he did while dealing with said addiction. He's not some innocent little baby; he was genuinely, inexcusably awful. (And he's one of my favorite characters of all time, so no one come at me for "hating" on him or whatever.)

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: COME BACK FROM SPAAAAAAAACE PLEASE COME BACK FROM SPAAAACE IT'S BEEN SO LONG

I know you said to keep the asks light, but you're the only blog whose opinion that I can trust. The Spiderman 4 news online has been mixed. Some ppl are annoyed that Z is coming back, angry Tom is still doing Spiderman even after promising that he's reading more new scripts. Some fans wish they would break up because it's annoying seeing them as a couple for their career. It's a lot considering this scoop is a rumour, not a definite fact.

I do agree with fans wanting more variety for Tom's career choices as well as with Z's however, it's strange that even though she's coming back for Euphoria, Dune Messiah, but with Spiderman it's time for her to break up with Tom? Like they forgot, she has a new project with Rob next month? Or even doing Challengers this yr? Tom has a play most of us haven't even seen yet😭. An audio snippet isn't enough imo.

In answer to your question, I'm just going to say that I think that I feel like some of these fans do way too much complaining and fear-baiting, instead of just simply going with the flow of their favorite celebrity, and allowing what happens to just....happen?

It's fine to want one of your favorite actors to work with so-and-so director, or so-and-so actor, or to be in such-and-such genre of film, but it's another thing completely to always be complaining about something anytime a new announcement comes out (or doesn't come out) regarding your fave. It just gets exhausting after a while.😓

Some other actors that I'm a fan of don't seem to have such complaints from fans whenever they are announced for a new role. Fans just accept the new news and are happy. There's no fear, or complaining, or negativity. Granted, I know that TZ are waaaay more famous than most of the other actors that I'm a fan of, but still....

I just don't feel like casting news and film roles that are simply for entertainment purposes, are something to get angry over.

I also don't feel like if Z were to date someone else that there would be less focus on her relationship. I think that it's a focus because she is so famous. So I think that no matter who Z dates (especially if it's anyone in Hollywood), it WOULD be a big deal simply because she's so famous.

And with Tom, I don't mind seeing him in other films ,but I also like him in Spiderman, so him doing SM4 isn't a bad thing imo? Did fans think he just wouldn't be doing Spiderman anymore or something lol?😅

Hi! I'm a local activist for LGBTQIA+ in my community, who specializes in trans acceptance. I wanted to say an unpopular opinion. I -intentionally- misgender convicted trans rapists/pedophiles. Prioritizing gender affirmation for people who've proven themselves hardly human (trans rights is -human- rights), tells the world they are accepted in LGTBQ communities and gives gender euphoria to monsters. This actively harms our community and I wish people would see that. Prioritize non-predators.

pedos don't deserve human rights regardless of gender expression but that also opens up the potential for bigots to misgender when they think someone 'doesn't deserve it' for way more petty reasons (or no reason)

Unpopular opinion about Dune Part Two

I wasn’t really feeling Chani in Dune. To me, it seemed like Zendaya was playing the same kind of character she always does. It reminded me too much of Rue from Euphoria and MJ from Spider-Man, especially in the scenes where she was angry.

Maybe that’s why I couldn’t really get into the whole Chani and Paul love story—it just didn’t click for me.

I'm not trashing Zendaya, i actually love her. She’s awesome as Rue and she kill it with her role in Challengers (even if I didn’t like her character there, her acting was amazing). But in Dune, Chani just didn’t work for me. The love story, the anger, the betrayal at Paul's proposal to the princess... nope.

Maybe i just didn't like Chani as a character or i don't know why because i liked her in the first movie (even when she didn't appear that much)

No, I'll elaborate. For my first reason, I'll quote my own post:

Apart from the looks, though, he seems to have a pretty cool life. UFO hunting, investigating the supernatural, cool apartment, great partner, fun basement office, action and adventure...of course, there are downsides (missing sister, constant brushes with danger, frequently hunted by the government, paperwork, etc.), but overall it looks very interesting.

However, we're also already not dissimilar. I may not be quite as much of a conspiracy nut as he is (though of course I believe in aliens 🛸), and I'm certainly not about to join the FBI even if the 'uniform' does look hella cool, but we apparently both have issues with sleeping, eating, trust, fire, and obsession/hyperfixation (e.g. Grotesque and his whole search for the Truth), at least. [Let me know if you think my assessment of his character (and/or mine?!) is unfair or wrong; I can't remember exactly what's in canon and what appears more in fanon.]

The most random similarity is that both of us have used the sound of a light aircraft to locate something. In Mulder's case, during S01E15 'Lazarus', it's a sound caught on a recording that helps him find Scully. For me, I was hiking with a group a few years ago and we were mildly lost. However, when I heard a light aeroplane doing spin training, I knew that it could only being doing that over certain areas in our locality, and from the map we had I could work out our location more accurately, the result being that we made it home that evening.

I can also blame Mulder for my new sunflower seed addiction! Thanks a bunch.

Of course, if I were actually to turn up in a TXF episode, it would probably be as background character #3 who has a couple of lines being questioned by Scully whilst Mulder waits moodily in the background, but hey. I want to believe.

Look, this show may be a new love of mine, but yes, I do already have some potentially unpopular opinions. Buckle in...

I'm not a fan of MSR. You said unpopular! I've really enjoyed the early seasons of the show for the friendship between Mulder and Scully, and I see that as just continuing. Yes, they get closer, how could they not? But I dislike the fact that they (apparently) actually get together in the end and it's canon.

I will add the disclaimer that, yes, I am only up to S05E09 at the moment, and I suppose that the storyline could lead very nicely into it. However, at the moment from what I've seen in content on here like gifsets and edits, I don't think I'll like it, and I prefer the vibe of the show as it now is.

This marries up (!) with my dislike of many of later parts of the mytharc that I'm coming to now. It's probably because I personally prefer monster of the week episodes, but especially the S4 mytharc eps were among my least favourites, and some of them were bordering on a struggle to watch.

Which leads into my general dislike of S4, definitely an unpopular opinion according to the poll that happened recently. I won't go on too much as I've said this in some tags before, but I find it hard to believe that S4 is a favourite season. Yes, there are some good eps! Demons is my favourite of the season and among my top episodes of the show so far, and Tempus Fugit/Max was excellent. But there was also The Field Where I Died, Never Again, Memento Mori, Synchrony, Zero Sum...some of my least favourite episodes so far, that I would probably avoid on a rewatch.
