Escape The Night: Overall Thoughts On All Seasons So Far!!!
Now that Season 4 is over, I think it’s about time I compare all four seasons!
Please note that this is all my own opinion. If yours differs from mine, that is completely fine. Throwing it all below the cut due to it being a very long post!
Best Era Overall: Season 3.
Season 3 really went all 1970s with the clothing, the town’s aesthetic, etc. I also think the villains really fit in with the Era, too (combining a carnival with 1970s town really worked for them), and I’ll elaborate on that in the best minor villains section.
Best Location Overall: Season 3.
I do think Season 3 was a really nice change from Seasons 1 and 2 which were giant mansions (they were both very different giant mansions, but still giant mansions) because Season 3 had a whole town. Season 4′s Museum idea is also very creative, and I love the uniqueness of each exhibit, but I still think Season 3 overall had the best edge.
However, size of the location is not the sole reason why it won this category. I also just think they used the location to its full advantage the best in Season 3. Not only did they use all the different buildings, but they even utilized places like churches and graveyards, and even the sketchy warehouses and carnival attractions like the Ferris Wheel (and I loved that Ferris Wheel!). They worked with the two mansions of Seasons 1 and 2 very well (Season 2 did better here), and though Season 4′s museum was creative, I felt like the whole layout could have been used more than in just the season finale.
Best Main Music Theme Overall: Season 3.
The version of “Sympathy For The Devil” that Season 3 used went perfectly with that season’s edginess, the era, and was absolutely chilling. It went so, so well with Season 3 that I had to give this one the best theme, hands-down. I do think all the other seasons have decent themes for each of their seasons, but none of them fit as seamlessly well as Season 3 did.
Best Music in General Overall: Seasons 2 and 3!
Yup, they get a tie here. The music for both seasons fit very thematically well with their respective seasons and what was going within those seasons. Seasons 1 and 4 were also decent, but not as good as 2 and 3 for me.
Best Guests Overall: Seasons 2 and 3.
Season 2 had a lot more comedy and the alliances were awesome, but I also loved the drama of Season 3 and the tight-knit friendships (especially Matpat and Rosanna). For this reason, I give these two a tie.
Best Outfits Overall: Seasons 2 and 3!
The outfits in Seasons 2 and 3 were phenomenal! I think all the outfits from every season were really good, but I just think Seasons 2 and 3 had the best ones out of the lot.
Best Major Villain (The Season’s Big Bad) Overall: The Sorceress, from Season 2.
I think this is because she was a villain that had a lot of direct communication with the guests. Not that Arthur of Season 1 didn’t (he also doubled as the Helper in the same season), but he also simultaneously concealed the fact that he was the villain up until Season 1 and many of us saw the twist of him being a villain far before then so it wasn’t as effective. Out of all the main villains, the Sorceress is the one villain that directly communicates with the guests the most during their debut season where she’s featured as the big bad (Season 4 was different due to her mostly being a Helper); Episodes 3, 5, and of course 10 (every main villain confronts the guests in Episode 10).
Comparing the Sorceress with the other Big Bads across the seasons, even the Collector of Season 4 only had some direct interaction with the guests in Episodes 9 and 10 of her season (not counting Episode 1 because that was with Liza, who wasn’t competing this season but had a featured guest role), while the Carnival Master also only had two episodes (Episodes 9 and 10) where he directly addresses the guests in Season 3.
Also note that the Sorceress also successfully killed Joey during her debut season—she’s literally the only villain that succeeded in killing him, which is a surprise given how Joey usually is a survivor every season otherwise. I’m really glad they brought her back for Season 4 as a Helper of sorts, because the new dynamics she shares with the guests, as a former villain, is pretty fun to watch (other than the way-too-obvious betrayal that I ranted about in my Season 4, Episode 9 reaction post).
Best Minor Villains (Lieutenants/Artifact Guardians/Key Keepers) Overall: Season 3.
Season 1 had a good concept of all the backstory of how the Cursed Artifacts got hidden away, as well as the owners of the house, but in terms of actual LIeutenants/Artifact Guardians/Key Keepers, I think Season 3 had the most riveting, interesting ones. Season 2 was very fantastical, and I loved that aspect, but Season 3′s minor villains felt more thematically connected with its era. It helps that most of the Artifact Guardians were connected to Everlock in some form initially, before the Carnival Master went and corrupted them all to do his bidding and wreak havoc on the town. Season 4′s Key Keepers and Minor Villains were pretty good, too, but I think Season 3 did a bit better here overall.
Best Helper(s) Overall: Calliope and Mortimer from Season 3.
Calliope and Mortimer win for me because 1. They had a good developing storyline together that fed into the main plot more and 2. The banter and chemistry they had together just worked really, really well. Also, 3. They had more time spent together overall, which probably helped with 1 and 2 to begin with. Extra points to Calliope for attempting to beat up Lucy at the beginning of Episode 9!
The Sorceress and Mortimer as a pair from Season 4 had a good chance of winning this, but that pair got broken up pretty soon by Episode 6 of their Season, as opposed to Calliope and Mortimer both dying in Episode 9 of Season 3. Also, they didn’t have the same sort of acting chemistry like Calliope and Mortimer had that meshed them so well as partners.
Best Deaths Overall: Season 3.
Season 2 was very close to having the best deaths (with hearts ripped out and betrayals going on), but Season 3 was a bit more creative overall (especially from Episode 5 onwards) in my opinion, which gave it the win. Season 1 was fine, but it wasn’t as creative as Seasons 2 and 3 for me (though Season 1 does have more realistic deaths, I’ll give it that), and Season 4′s actual deaths, though shocking at the beginning, felt a bit lackluster for me from Episode 5 onwards.
Best Storyline Within A Season Overall: Seasons 1 and 3.
I know we have the overarching storyline that connects all the Seasons, but if we look at the individual storylines per season, I argue that Seasons 1 and 3 had the best individual storylines. Season 1 could easily be a standalone story as is. Season 3 was also pretty good standing on its own because the only thing you really need to know is Joey dying from Season 2, and they touch on that immediately in the Season 3 premiere to connect it with Season 3′s main story. Season 4′s storyline relies on knowing the past three seasons well due to it being an All-Stars Season, and Season 2, though also fine as is, wasn’t as strong as Season 1 and 3 for me except for the finale.
Most Shocking Death Per Season  (because an overall is impossible for me):
Season 1: Sierra. I didn’t think she was going to go out the way she did, and it was purely by unfortunate circumstance that Matt didn’t read the note all the way through. I believe he genuinely regretted her death, and so I actually felt bad for him during the episode after her, even if it led to him not helping much and hence his death.
Season 2: Liza. Yes, she lost the death challenge, but I really thought they were going for a no-death that episode when I watched it. I was very wrong.
Season 3: SAFIYA NYGAARD, THE MOST SHOCKING DEATH OF ALL DEATHS I’VE WATCHED SO FAR. I admit I’m still slightly salty over that Plot Twist. Had it been a fair challenge, I’m almost sure that she wouldn’t be dead until Episode 8 or 9 at earliest, or end up surviving the season.
Season 4: DeStorm. I didn’t expect him to die in Episode 4 of Season 4, especially given how he already died in Episode 4 of Season 2. It did lead to some interesting development on his part, though, becoming more of a team player by topping it with a Heroic Sacrifice.
Favourite Episode Per Season (because an overall is impossible for me):
Season 1: Episode 9, Wicked Hallucinations. For those that read my Escape The Night fanfics, you all know I love Vincent Wells. Also, his reveal to the group that Arthur is the big bad AND the fact that Vincent was the one that warned them back in Episode 2 with the note (it was an inkblot card!) was pretty clever. (Okay, maybe the reveal that the staff was evil was obvious to a lot of viewers at the time, but I still loved how that part of the episode was filmed).
Season 2: Episode 5, The Gingerbread Woman. Not only did we have all the sweets and the rescuing of children, but there were some good comedic highlights in this episode and the twist of Liza’s death actually happening was pretty shocking (despite the initial thought that maybe it would be a no-death episode when Sampson helped Tyler and Liza defeat the Gingerbread Woman).
Season 3: A tie between Episode 6, Twin Dolls, and Episode 7, Funhouse. Though I do think Episode 5 is the funniest out of all the episodes that season, I think the most entertaining overall were Episodes 6 and 7. Episode 6 really brought on the horror (as well as the drama of Colleen’s death), and Episode 7 was very twisty with Matpat’s revival and what most of the fandom calls the Stupid Plot Twist (a.k.a. Safiya’s death). Yes, it was probably an unfair plot twist, but it definitely added an effect to that episode to be entertaining and kept me on my toes.
Season 4: Episode 2, The Museum of Death: Part 2. It’s odd that I think this is the most entertaining episode of the season (as you can see from the previous examples, I often liked the mid-season or later ones), but I think it’s just the fact that we have all the guests from past seasons together here, as well as the twist of the death challenge, that helped push this into the most favourite episode of this season for me. Also, props to Tana for trying to save Justine and refusing to command the Mummy to kill her when she lost!
Least Favourite Episode Per Season:
Season 1: Episode 7, Mermaid Tails. It wasn’t absolutely horrible, but though Matt didn’t contribute much this episode given his accidentally-causing Sierra’s death in Episode 6, I still felt bad that everyone instantly ganged-up on him.
Season 2: Episode 4, A Nation Divided. I liked the team challenge, but DeStorm and Alex’s drama kind of overshadowed it for me.
Season 3: Episode 3, Venomous Affections. I felt that the Snake Woman could have been utilized more than just poisoning two people prior to the death challenge. That’s the main reason I didn’t enjoy it so much.
Season 4: Episode 9, Prehistoric Evil. This is easily my least favourite episode out of the entire show so far, due to the plot-twist of the Sorceress betraying the group being way too obvious, as well as how the lead-up to Rosanna Pansino’s death developed. I ranted about it enough in my reaction post to Episode 9, so read there for more details if you’d like.
Best Finale Overall: Season 3.
Season 4 felt a bit lackluster despite having the giant throwback to many of the monsters from the first three seasons (though it does help set up for Season 5), and though Season 2 was close to winning this category due to the shock of Joey’s death happening, Season 3 gave me a bit of an edge overall because who wouldn’t be shocked by Liza randomly showing up in the Crystal and asking for help!?
Best Season Overall: Season 3!!!!!
Just looking through all the other categories before this one, I think it’s fair to say I enjoyed Season 3 the most. The change of location as well as how they utilized it, the amazing cast and minor villains, the music, etc. just really helped me enjoy watching that season overall. It’s the one season I find myself wanting to watch all over again out of all of them, too.
Which season did you enjoy the best, and why? Feel free to let me know!

Honestly, I adore that Tana tried to save Justine. I wish she would’ve succeeded and we could have seen the effects of it.

Escape the Night - Season 4 Predictions, I guess
We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to give you some Escape the Night theorizing! This is based on the season 4 trailer and the trailer-snippet at the end of episode 1, season 4.
First off, if there are 3 survivors at the end like there usually are, and there are 7 survivors now, it will take 4 episodes for the last people to die.
Remaining survivors:
Joey Graceffa
Bretman Rock
Alex Wassabi
Colleen Ballinger
Rosanna Pansino
Tana Mongeau
Gabbie Hanna
So, there are going to be 4 more exhibits. We already have some information about what they could be.
It sounds like the next episode (Episode 5) will be some sort of old, knight-era exhibit. I’ll dub it the “Medieval” exhibit.
I associate it with the scenes from the forest, like the backstory shots where a knight seems to be drawing his sword, and a king is kneeling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s also the scenes where it looks like Gabbie is being captured, and where Tana and Gabbie are hugging each other.
Not much information about the scene where Gabbie is being captured. You can briefly see Colleen’s hat in the shot.
Tumblr media
If this is just a capture, it could mean Gabbie’s name is going in the voting pile. If this is a death challenge, it looks like Gabbie and Colleen are voted in, and Gabbie is temporarily delayed.
Tumblr media
Tana and Gabbie are hugging each other and saying “I love you.” It sounds like maybe they’re both voted into a challenge.
It isn’t clear which exhibit these next shots are from, but they both have swords, so I’m putting them under the Medieval exhibit for now.
Joey is holding a glowing sword in one shot, and Colleen is stabbing something with a sword in another.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If these are in the same episode, it could be a sign of Joey and Colleen’s growing reconciliation— Joey finds the sword and gives it to Colleen for something. It could be the end of a death challenge where Colleen wins. Who knows.
There’s an exhibit that seems to be centered around Greek mythology, which I’ll call the Greek exhibit. There are monsters that look like Medusa and the Minotaur.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are shots where Bretman and Nikita are holding lanterns and look like they’re in a maze– or a labyrinth. This would mirror the Greek myth about the Minotaur.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is this part of a puzzle they solve earlier in the episode, or a death challenge? We still don’t know if Nikita and MatPat will be vulnerable to the death challenges.
Next is Medusa. It doesn’t seem like there’s much about her at first, but it makes sense that she would be in the same episode as the Minotaur.
So take a look at this shot of Alex hiding.
Tumblr media
It kind of looks like he’s holding a mirror. This would reference the Greek myth where the hero Perseus was given a reflective shield so he didn’t look directly at Medusa. Knowing this, you can see the shapes of statues around him.
It’s not clear which episode this shot is from, but since we saw Bretman and Nikita together in the labyrinth, I’m going to put it here.
Tumblr media
Bret is saying “I’m dying Nikita.” They both look nervous. On the table, there is a pitcher and two cups. It’s probable that either one or both of them drank something. Unclear if it’s deadly or not.
The next exhibit looks like it’s gonna be pirates. The main two shots show a pirate hat on a table, windows, and a wooden background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you look at the second shot of the Youtubers, you can clearly see Joey, Alex, Bretman, and Ro. But if you look closely, you can see the feathers of Colleen’s hat.
Tumblr media
If it had just been the aforementioned Youtubers, I would have guessed this was part of a challenge where they split up into groups. But seeing Colleen’s hat makes me think that’s the entire group, which means Tana and Gabbie might die.
It already looks like either Tana or Gabbie will die in the Medieval episode, episode 5. If the other dies in episode 6, that would make the pirate exhibit episode 7.
The 4th exhibit is unclear. The only hints we have involve “backstory” shots, and no Youtubers. So far we’ve only seen this guy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not sure what exhibit he would be part of- the only thing I can think of that they might be referencing is the genie from Aladdin, but I really have no idea about this episode.
Concluding predictions:
Gabbie and Tana are going to die in Episodes 5 and 6. Episode 5 will be the “Medieval” exhibit episode, as shown by the shot of the knight on the horse drawing a sword at the end of Episode 4. Episode 7 will be a pirates exhibit. Episodes 6 and 8 will involve a Greek mythology exhibit and one we don’t know much about. It might make sense that the episode we have the least info about would be last.
Alright, that’s it.
...I was kind of in a hurry when putting this together? I think Episode 5 came out as I was writing this. Pls forgive any typos.

ETN S2 fanfic.
This is for @hessonite-angel-art and the awesome drawing they did for Rosanna in S2. I would like to say that I’m so so so so so so sorry that it took me so long to reply! I spent an 1 hour and a half writing a fic about this, and then when I went to post it, my stupid internet started messing about and I wasn’t able to save this! And then I had problems posting it.
I’m gonna try again with this fic, here we go. (Warning contains a mention of stab wounds, blood, and a slit throat)

Everyone felt like they were going to collapse once they got back into the Lounge. They had just ran away from The Sorceress... again. As they entered and blocked the door behind them, they all dramatically collapsed onto various pieces of furniture.
Although there was one question on everyone’s mind, which was asked by Joey.
“Why do you have a knife? And where the hell did you get a knife from, Ro?” He exclaimed in slight fear of The Baker, he was the reason Liza went into the challenge after all.
“Like I said, ‘Liza and I will not be dying tonight’ and I swiped it from the Gingerbread Woman’s kitchen, the first time we were there.” Ro answered.
“Did you steal anymore weapons from anywhere? And are you willing to share with me?” Gabbie asked in a comedic tone.
Ro didn’t answer this time, instead she started to fiddle with the skirt of her dress. After a minute, she began to remove several small knives, a few metal quill pens, 3 letter openers, and 2 syringes with a large needles on the ends?
“Damn! I didn’t actually expect you to have anything else in there!” Gabbie exclaimed in shock.
“Where did you even get this stuff?” Liza asked, while fiddling with a letter opener.
“I’ve been swiping anything remotely sharp, or anything that can be used as a weapon all night, in case, we get into more trouble.” She replied.
“Seriously? Are you sure you didn’t just bring this stuff from your house? Because I haven’t seen any of this stuff at all.” Questioned Alex, from his place laying diagonally across one of the sofas, with one leg dangling over the back and one arm splayed out across the floor.
“Yeah, I got the knives from the Gingerbread Woman’s Kitchen. The letter openers and some of the metal quills from the Study, where Jorogumo webbed you up after she kidnapped you. And I found the syringes in the Foyer, while we all thought that the ‘helm of obedience’ was going to make Joey shoot us. I think someone must of dropped them.” Ro listed.
“And I meant what I said Liza and I will not be dying tonight. In fact, none of us are going to die tonight.” Ro stated, whilst holding up one of the knives from the table.
Judging by some of the looks the guests gave her as she help up the blade, Ro guessed that she had just gained lots of allies, and cemented herself as a team player. As well as, scaring the hell out of everyone in the room, including Alison.
*
No one else died that night...
That is, nobody else died, from among the guests ranks... Some of The Sorceress’ lieutenants were not so lucky.
The Ice Guardian very quickly found itself on the wrong end of a blade after it attempted to corner Tana.
It turns out that The Promethian Men weren’t so strong, once they were littered with stab wounds. Cedric was very happy to give the guests his gem... after they promised to let him live.
The werewolves may have been a pack, but even they weren’t a match for 7 angry youtubers, armed to the teeth with make shift weapons, picked up on their way across the various rooms of the Mansion.
The Guardian Of The Dark Dimension did not expect to become the sacrifice that was required to open a portal back to the Mansion, but he could only watch as the guests ran through and his vision began to go black.
*
The Sorceress was outraged, all her meticulously crafted plans were turning to ash before her eyes, all because ‘The Baker’ had chosen to fight back against her lieutenants and save her friends.
‘Just wait until I get my hands on her!’ She thought, while slowly clawing her way up the stairs. ‘I’ll make her wish that she was never born!’
It wasn’t long before The Sorceress’ arms gave out from under her, having no energy left in them. Lying on the stairs was uncomfortable but she just couldn’t move yet. Though she could hear voices approaching, one of which she recognised as ‘the Savant’.
‘Well, if I have to go down, I’ll take one of them with me!’ She thought bitterly, waiting for her time to strike.
“There’s the crown! Damn it! it’s by The Sorceress.” The Vaudevillian yelled in frustration. “Who is gonna get it?”
There was a sudden rush of noise. Each guest was trying to decide who should risk themselves for her crown.
“I’ll do it.” Said a quiet voice, that The Sorceress recognised immediately. ‘The Savant, perfect’ she thought.
There was a chorus of voices saying ‘be careful, Joey’ and she heard his footsteps walking up the stairs and waited for him to get closer.
The noise of the crown being picked up was her signal. With a scream The Sorceress jumped up whilst pulling her knife out of its holster and got ready to stab anyone within arms reach.
Frantic shouts filled the air, overlapping each other, as the guests reacted to her sudden attack.
“Oh my go-“. “What the he-“. “She has a kn-“.
“Joey! Loo-“. “How is she still al-“. “I thought she was de-“
The good news for the guests was that Joey was able to manoeuvre himself out of the daggers path, which was heading towards his chest.
The bad news for the guests was that the dagger was now stuck in his arm instead.
The Sorceress tackled Joey to the floor and pulled her dagger from his arm, raised it above her head to bring it down in a fatal blow to Joey’s heart and...
She felt a hand wrestle the dagger from her clenched fist, while another hand anchored it’s fingers into her hair and sharply yanked her head backwards, before the feeling of cold metal dragged itself across her throat. She had just enough time to turn and see who had slit her throat, before the world went dark.
The Baker.
*
The guests were in shock.
In the span of about a minute or maybe even a minute and a half, Joey had been stabbed in the arm, The Sorceress had proceeded to tackle Joey, attempted to stab him, only for Rosanna to snatch the blade and use it to kill The Sorceress herself, and now Ro was standing with the bloody dagger in hand weeping that she “didn’t mean to kill her.”
Liza quickly walked to Ro to comfort her, while the rest of the group helped Joey sort out his wound.
“It’s okay. Ro, you saved everyone’s lives by doing that. I know that doesn’t make it any better but everyone in this room is alive because of what you just did. Who knows maybe if you hadn’t done it, The Sorceress would be back in a years time with 10 more people to chase around and use for her spell. You saved our lives.” She reassured while pulling the small woman in for a hug.
“Thanks Liza. At least she can’t hurt anyone anymore.” Ro mumbled into her shoulder.
By now the group had finished tying a piece of fabric, that Alex had ripped off of the bottom of The Sorceress’ skirts, around Joey’s stab wound to act as a bandage and stem the flow of blood.
Everyone walked over and joined in on the hug to comfort The Baker, whilst offering her words of thanks and reassurance. After a few minutes in the large group hug The Savant spoke “Shall we get out of here and back home?” There was a chorus of ‘yes’ from around the room.
Joey walked to the front doors that most of the guests had walked through only a few hours ago, when they believed that they were attending a ball and not a dangerous quest against an evil Sorceress, who was hell bent on invading the modern world and ruling over it.
The guests smiled as soon as they saw the sunlight beginning to creep up over the horizon. Ro looked around and walked to the spot where Alison was standing.
“Are you going to come with us?” She asked.
“I’m sorry but no, I’m going to stay and help Riley, Jetpack, and the people still here figure out what to do and where to go. As I said ‘there are other people who want to leave, I’m doing this for them.’ But maybe I’ll come visit you all in the future.” The vampire replied with a small smile.
“Well you’re always welcome to come and visit me any time you like.” Ro said returning the smile, before she walked back to Liza.
“Are we all ready to go?” Alex asked, wanting to leave before anymore tears could start to fall at the thought of leaving the Mansion without Lauren by his side. Everyone said their goodbyes to Alison and welcomed her to come visit them as well. Just like that they were ready to leave this house of nightmares and return to their homes for a well earned rest.
Ro said a quiet goodbye to Lauren, Jesse, and Destorm, promising to never forget them and telling them that she hopes that they are at peace. Linking arms with Liza, they walked to the front doors at the back of the group and sighed at the feeling of the sun on their faces.
Alex, Tyler, and Tana climbed into the first carriage, while Joey, Gabbie, Ro, and Liza sat together in the second. The carriages started to move, beginning the journey home and that’s when it hit Ro...
They had escaped the night.

This is my first time writing an ETN fanfic and it ended up so much longer than I expected it too. Again, I’m so so sorry that it took me so long to reply to you, but I hoped you liked this story. (I apologise for any incorrect grammar or an abuse of commas.)
Have a nice day :D

Escape The Night, Season 4, Episode 10 Reactions!
IT’S THE FINALE OF SEASON 4! Will be throwing all reactions and Overall Thoughts under the cut!
We have a box. The box is never good.
THE COLLECTOR LIVES. SHE SURVIVED!?
AND THEY BROUGHT BACK LITERALLY EVERYONE FROM THE PAST THREE SEASONS (or at least most of them)!!!!!
They even brought back the Guardian from Season 1!!!
Ok, so if they get caught they have...two minutes to save each other or else the Carnival Master kills them? Oof. This is even rougher than Seasons 2 and 3 (because they had 5 miunutes)
AND COLLEEN IS CAPTURED
AND SHE’S RESCUED
That can’t be fun to hide under one tiny table.
The Sorceress and Collector’s fight doesn’t look too good..
Bretman is the most extra, and therefore he’s the distraction? Nice.
Bretman has a good reason to close all the doors: TO STOP THE MONSTERS CHASING THEM
Yay! Rhythm games!
OMG THEY TRAPPED ALL THE VILLAINS INTO GLASS CASES LIKE HOW ALL THE YOUTUBERS WERE TRAPPED IN THE FIRST EPISODE
Everyone keeps screwing up the chant, and I love it!!!!
THEY HAVE THE SWORD OF LEGENDS
Andddddd the Sorceress is DEAD
AND THE COLLECTOR IS A STONE STATUE NOW
Omg it’s the evil box from the flashback. THAT CANNOT BE GOOD.
TAKE THE SPHERE AND GO! FORGET THE BOX
AND THE SOULS ARE FREEEEE
JOEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
NO HE’S IN PANDORA’S BOX NOW
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
MY OVERALL THOUGHTS ON  SEASON 4:
Favourite Episode: Episode 2, “The Museum of Death Part Two!” It’s rare that I find a favourite episode to be the early one, but it’s partially because we had so many alumni from the past seasons all together, we were seeing new bonds being made between guests and so on. Episode 8, “Cursed Treasure,” is also pretty close to the top of the list here, given all the funny shenanigans that ensued in that episode.
Least Favourite Episode: Episode 9, “Prehistoric Evil.” Mainly because of the lead-up to Ro’s death and also because of the too-obvious plot-twist of the Sorceress betraying the group.
Funniest Episode: Episode 8, “Cursed Treasure!” There were some aspects of it that were funnier than I expected, hence why it wins this category! Episode 6, “The Maze of Terror”  is also pretty close (even if I didn’t like how the episode’s death challenge went). Matpat and Nikita being around added some pretty funny commentary.
Scariest Episode: Episode 5, “Dark Magic And A Twisted Fate!” Mainly because of the double-death that ensued, but also because some of the challenges beforehand (finishing a certain task before the whole room goes up in flames) were pretty scary to think of happening.
Saddest Episode: Episode 8, “Cursed Treasure.”  (Yes, it’s both the funniest and saddest for me.) Alex’s death was what made it sad, actually. I was looking forward to seeing more of him as a ‘good guy’ in the season, given how he started changing towards what I knew of him in Season 2 starting from Episode 5 of this season onwards, so I was felt bad for him when he died. Had he survived, I think he had a chance of surviving the season as a whole.
Scariest Death: Colleen’s death in Episode 6, “The Maze of Terror.” Imagine getting grabbed by a large Minotaur and then feeling all your bones being crushed at once, and you feel nothing but absolute pain until you die. It can’t be fun.
Saddest Death: Rosanna’s death in Episode 9, “Prehistoric Evil.” SHE DID NOT DESERVE TO GO INTO THAT DEATH CHALLENGE.
Most Shocking Death(s): DeStorm Power’s death in Episode 4. I WAS NOT EXPECTING HIM TO DIE IN THE FOURTH EPISODE AGAIN. Special mention to Gabbie and Tana’s double death in Episode 5 as well!
Favourite Competitor(s): Tana Mongeau, Gabbie Hanna, DeStorm Power and Rosanna Pansino.
Least Favourite Competitor(s): None, actually.
Closing thoughts on this season:
1. JOEY, WHY DID YOU TOUCH THAT BOX!?
WHY JOEY. WHYYYYYYY!?
I feel like this may be a call-back to Season 1 where he ended up taking the deed and then the evil seeped into it, but maybe it’s going into full circle. First he picked up the evil, and now the evil picked him up.
2. Not the strongest season in my opinion, but it was still fun to watch.
I think the risk of having an All-Stars is that the cast isn’t new, and we would’ve already went through so many deaths and remember their OWN deaths already so they really had to change it up. The double-death was an interesting touch, and I’m glad they brought back a no-death episode (they had none in Season 3, probably due to the revival and having no double-death on top of that), but it somewhat defeats the purpose to try to bring back All-Stars and then only ONE survives at the end.
I also think a risk of this season was the fact that many of the guests had their own new developments, and they were so different from what they had in their past seasons (such as ‘nice guy’ Alex trying to turn dark in the first half of the season, DeStorm basically getting a redemption arc in Season 4 as opposed to how he acted in Season 2 (but I actually really enjoyed him a lot this season), Colleen being incredibly salty over her first death (though justified, given how betrayed she must’ve felt by all her friends voting to kill her at the time), etc.). It was a lot for me to get a hold on, and there were some developments I enjoyed watching as opposed to others, but it was still interesting and intricate.
A third thought on this matter was that though it was an All-Stars Season, it was rather Season 2-heavy in terms of contestants, as well as one of the Helpers being the Big Bad from Season 2 on top of that. They did bring in a lot of Season 3 elements in time for the finale, but I was hoping to see more Season 1 elements than just the cursed artifacts, having only two guests (yes, I’m aware they tried to get Lele into the season but it didn’t end up happening), and having ONE minor villain from Season 1 (what about Arthur!? or Sarah or Marvin!? I guess they weren’t available?).
Also: CONGRATS TO BRETMAN AND COLLEEN FOR SURVIVING!
3. What happens next?
Clearly, if we have a Season 5, it won’t be another All-Stars. Having two in a row wouldn’t have the same emotional punch for us as viewers or for the creators, I think (though I’d like one a couple seasons later if the show lasts long enough).
But...clearly, we’re going somewhere with the Pandora’s Box storyline, given how Joey was trapped in it after he was ‘drawn to it’ and couldn’t take his attention off it. I think it’ll be interesting to see what happens with that...
Thank you all for liking and reblogging these reaction posts! I hope to come back to them when Season 5 comes out (assuming it happens of course)!
What did you think of this season? Favourite episode? Competitors? Let me know what you think!
