Danny!!! I just binged Season 2 of Case 63 last night! I'd love to hear your thoughts on it (if you're willing to share them)! 💕

You want to hear my thoughts on case 63? Oh dear sweet lovely anon, please buckle up because I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS

I listened to season one probably 4 times in the past year and season 2 twice already (I have a lot of down time this week) and i took notes on the timelines because i thought i was going crazy and it honestly turned me into Charlie Day a little bit with the red string and notes and maps on the wall, “And i march down to Eliza’s office and say “Beatrix!! Beatrix!!’”

Anyway, spoilers below the cut.

I kind of want to start with season 2 episode 9, that thing that Vincent says to Eliza “peter didn’t send you here to save the world, if you’re his wife in one of the timelines and if peter lost his wife in 2060 when she was 38 because of Pegasus, his wife has to be born in 2022. And if you were, or will be, Peter Roiter’s wife, for her to be born in 2022, then you Beatrix should have died in 2022, but you didn’t. He knew you had to die, but he couldn’t lose you. Think about it, why did he need YOU to do the injection? He needed to get you to the extraction point. He tried to hide you and protect you from your death. He sacrificed millions to send you to the past to delay your death.”

That part reminded me so much of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen that movie, but the protagonist, Joel, is running through his memories with his ex girlfriend Clementine and trying to hide her away in places she doesn’t belong, just so she can live in his brain for a tiny bit longer. It’s just so romantic and it makes sense why then Peter didn’t sound upset when Eliza told him that she couldn’t inject Marie, he doesn’t even give a shit about the timeline anymore. He just wants her to be able to LIVE and be happy adfdskjas;defsdfk

But i can’t talk about this without talking about the inconsistencies…. **play Serial theme** One of which here is Helen Vince, Peter Roiter’s wife From the future, is supposedly born in 2022 in one of these timelines, yet in the 2012 timeline she’s born in 2012? Did i miss something here? The only theory i have on that is related to that thing Peter says about “time protects us” and that’s why travelers can’t KILL Marie. I think it works in reverse as well, that you can’t escape your time coming, things will shift and bounce to fit your time clock. Which is super tragic when you think about how that’s Peter’s only goal, to give Eliza more time.

That bit IS confusing, but ALSO so is the inconsistencies with Peter’s age at some points. Like when he talks about the Egregor and being 9 years old and people dying by their own hand because of it, yet the math says he was 6 when the Berlin Purge happened and he says it was 2030 at one point and 3035 when Eliza asks for clarification.

And some other things too, he gives two separate dates for “the end of the world” (unspecified event!) and despite the Great Deletion happening, he claims that the Garnier Malet effect is “taught in all schools” since 2034, but the great deletion happened in 2033, and at another time he said it was actually in 2053???

and there are several more inconsistencies but what I’m trying to SAY is that he’s obviously not lying…. Right? Because the time travel is real, we have seen that. So the thing that he MIGHT be lying about is that “a traveler can only travel once” rule. I have a feeling this Peter Roiter has been alllll over the damn place. Probably unsanctioned missions? In order to hide Beatrix in one time or another to avoid her death.

And let’s TALK ABOUT THE NAMES OK. So we are introduced to an “Eliza Beatrix” and Peter straight up calls her Beatrix, so I THINK HE’S MET HER BEFORE and I’m not Fukin talm bout Helen Vince here. Roll with me, because when Eliza goes to Vincent’s timeline and meets herself, she tells her ten years younger self that SHE should start going by Beatrix! THAT’S PETERS BEATRIX. And that 10 year shift? Would explain a lot of the TIME INCONSISTENCIES ARE YOU WITH ME??

Let’s also not forget that i suspect that Beatrix is the Beatrix from the recording at the end of season 2, the one that Oliver Collins gives to Marie Caldwell. ALSO A STRANGE HAPPENING for him to be giving that to her because he was hysterically telling Eliza to discredit herself to Marie… very interesting.

Also super weird of Vincent to be acting the way that he was after Eliza DIED. Odd. Hmmm. Yes lets talk about Vincent Caldwell. The photo on the wall that made the bedroom look like Rome! To close the loop on the Garnier Malet! Such a cool twist in that. And when Eliza says, “By sending me here, he ensured the continuity of the dream” GUTPUNCH. There is one thing that bugs me about closing the loop and that would be the “take a flight to Rome on December 31st. Platform 23 at 4pm” thing that Peter said. Because BRO KNOWS THAT HELEN VINCE IS GOING TO BE BORN DECEMBER 12 so really and truly what the fuck was that about?? He knew that shit wasn’t ever going to happen, right? IT BUGS ME.

Also, bonus heartbreaking tidbit:: in the recording that he gives Eliza he makes it sound like “I’ll have 40 years to contact the organization to get this information to you” but bro knows that little baby Peter Roiter is going to be born sometime in 2023 (or 2024 depending on the inconsistencies) so he’s got 2 years max to live. And he doesn’t want Eliza to know.

Interesting tidbits, in the 2022 timeline, she’s in a bathroom in jfk terminal 4, but when she wakes up in 2012 she’s in terminal 8, so it’s not the “exact same spot” like she was telling herself. (Truly don’t know if that’s relevant.) And just a fun fact, when Peter is talking about his wife Helen he mentions that he did most of the cooking in their relationship and when Vincent talks about his late wife he says he did most of the cooking as well. So Peter is canonically skilled in the kitchen in every universe lmao.

I loved the tidbits about our sci-fi movies being influenced by The Project ever since 1948, i thought that was a thought provoking parallel to our current time.

I really love Marie so much. She hears and accepts all this stuff from Eliza and then she says you know what? I’m going to prevent covid from ever happening. And she does! I mean, she couldn’t prevent the nuclear war, but i thought that was pretty badass of her to change the world like that, way to go, Marie!

Biggest mystery i can’t wait to have solved: how is it she’s able to co-exist alongside herself and have a conversation with herself when “one entity must die in order for the other to be born”? Hmmm? And I’d like to add, Peter cautioned her against interacting with herself saying “meeting yourself WILL create a vortex” MEANWHILE daddy Vincent says it’s okay. In FACT Vincent just drops his own little “oh btw i had a Garnier Malet that you needed to talk to yourself, byeeee” i love him— such a goober. But it all seems very key.

I’m very struck by Peter’s repetition of the phrases about broken timelines and having to travel all alone and be invisible, it sounds very personal. Idk maybe I’m projecting. But i think there’s a lot to his story that he maybe couldn’t share with Eliza.

I loooove the way Peter explains time travel, “to go into the future, the key is speed. To go into the past, the key is gravity.” I love everything about that and the “circular beams of light” I WANT TO EAT HIS WORDS and lets not forget “They call it entanglement which is a way of saying I’ve always loved you.” NOT TO MENTION the infamous, “I don’t CARE about 7 billion people” monologue. It’s like what Vincent said, this is at its heart— a love story.

Me talking a lot

Episode 1, School Day Dilemmas, introduces the roster of characters from the local high school and whether or not they should join a school club for nerds. Other members are called Rodney, Jaybird, Aaron and James. They decide against it and the club is shut down. We get introduced to bit characters like some genuinely affable cheerleaders, a toxic club about celebrity gossip, some nerds, some jocks, some teachers, artsy goths.

Episode 2, No Spoilers! is about Jane spoiling a comic issue for Jerry and how everyone accidentally spoils information to each other through increasingly convoluted means.

Episode 3, The "Thing" From Another Fandom, is about James trying to join the group and failing after having a one day trial. He is promptly kicked out.

Episode 4, Escape From Joe's Fantasy World, is about Bill, Josh and Pete breaking into Joe's Fantasy World to rob it and getting themselves trapped inside. Jane and her girl gang are outside and will only let them out if they do what the girls want. Pete sings the theme song to The Hair Bear Club. Jerry is babysitting his baby cousins and shows off his paternal insticts he shockingly has.

Episode 5, One Man's Trash Is Another Geek's Treasure is about Pete leading the group to go dumpster diving behind Burger Moat to get collectable Fantastic Four trading cards that they will never trade.

Episode 6, The Marathon Men, is an adaption of the comic The Marathon Men.

Episode 7, Unstable Molecules, is an episode about a school science project about molecules where people work in pairs. Josh and Pete work on stealing supplies for a model while Bill and Jerry examine an unstable molecule under a microscope and achieve nothing because they think they're irradiated and are either going to become superheroes or die.

Episode 8, Project 101, is about Bill and Jerry having to go to detention after school on Friday to work on their uncompleted assignment surrounded by normies. Josh and Pete try to host a club meeting at Josh's house and we learn all about Naomi Levy and her odd ways.

Episode 9, Slumber Party Blowout, is about three sleepovers at the Dickey household. The newly divorced mother of Bill and Jane is bringing a man home for dinner...and maybe more. Jane has her girl gang over for a sleepover. Bill has the club over for a marathon of the Creepshow movies (and the Tales From The Darkside movie at Pete's insistence) for his birthday that his mother forgot. It goes horribly wrong for all three parties.

Episode 10, Fatal Attractions, is about Jerry befriending and having the tiniest of crushes on a girl named Agnes. Pete tries to convince her Jerry's horrible, Josh threatens her and Bill spreads rumours about her. She stops talking to Jerry and he is upset.

Episode 11, Nerds vs Geeks, is about a group of nerdy backgrounds characters who've been around all season calling themselves geeks in the leadup to homecoming. Jerry is on bad terms with the three after Agnes still. Pete, Josh and Bill use underhanded tactics to make the nerds as unappealing as possible. They eventually confront the nerds who say they did this to get dates. The Midwest Comix Collective told them it would work.

Episode 12, Battle Of The Clubs. Homecoming night and Bill, Josh and Pete confront Aaron, James, Jaybird and Rodney. They argue and exchange side eyes. Jerry tries to talk to Agnes but she refuses to. He decides to just go home. A girl called Mandi offers to walk him home. They leave just before a massive fight breaks out between both clubs. Bodies are thrown, people are knocked over, lighting fixtures are damaged. Bill is trapped between bleachers and sets the building on fire with Pete's lighter. Zoom in on a cheerleader's mouth as she screams. Darkness. Eyes opening. We cut between POV shots of each of the seven being scolded for what they did. Bill ignores his mother to watch TV instead.

Escape The Night: Season 4, Episode 9 Reactions!

All reactions and overall thoughts, as usual, will be posted under the cut!

We have cavemen! And dinosaurs?

Wait...those aren’t supposed to exist at the same time...

For this episode: One must seriously put aside the fact that this is very historically inaccurate. I think that’s fair to say.

Ro sticking her hand in that stuff is a total callback to the toilet incident in the Season 3 premiere XD

WHOA WHOA JOEY! I thought you and Ro reconciled! What’s with the notion of voting her in? WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU VOLUNTEERING YOURSELF INTO A CHALLENGE TWO EPISODES AGO AND VOTING YOURSELF IN THE EPISODE BEFORE THAT!?

I 100% expected Colleen and Bretman in this challenge. Not Ro and Bretman. I am not happy about this.

Ro might be screwed. Bretman’s already ahead.

AND WE HAVE A BETRAYAL, EVERYONE

Overall thoughts:

1. RIP for Rosanna Pansino.

Eaten alive by dinosaurs cannot be fun. She did not deserve to go into that challenge. Just because she hasn’t gone in all season up until now doesn’t mean that she hasn’t proved herself to be a survivor. She was cooperative, and helped out when she could, including this episode. Sure, she had a fight with Joey due to her voting him for the Episode 5 death challenge, but they reconciled two episodes later. I expected Colleen to be more salty about being shoved in a box of spikes and killed because Ro was one of the ones voting for her, but given Colleen’s focus on getting revenge on Bretman, I didn’t expect Joey and Bretman to quickly turn on Ro instead (I thought Bretman might just vote Colleen in).

Also, this robs her and Matpat of getting reunited alive in the real world (at least within the context of this show). I don’t think Matpat’s going to be thrilled when he finds out.

2. Am I disappointed? YES.

I’m going to be honest, I’m definitely disappointed with Joey’s decision this episode. I feel like Joey turning on Ro and voting her in, effectively and partially sealing her fate in the death challenge, was a complete 180 from what I saw in Episodes 6 and 7. Episode 8 is exempt from this criticism given that there was no vote involved and everyone had to fight for their own survival, which is similar to Episode 8 of both Seasons 2 and 3 (save for Ro and Colleen, who were immune at the time), but seriously, Joey? There was some good character development he had going on, and he turned back on it within one episode.

No, this does not give you the right to give him hate for this in real life. Joey within the show is different from Joey IRL. Disliking him in the context of the show is fine, but don’t trash him in real life over it. Same goes for all the rest of the characters and guests this season.

3. Is it bad that I fully expected the Sorceress to turn on the party, almost like a call-back to Season 1 where Arthur betrayed the party?

I do think it was meant to be a call-back to Season 1, Episode 9′s betrayal, but at the same time...it didn’t feel well-executed? I’m not sure how else to put it. I expected more of a fight between the Collector and the Sorceress, too, so that was a bit disappointing.

Let me explain the first bit: Even back in Season 1, back when most of us figured that Arthur and the staff were actually evil before it happened, the cinematic lead-up to that reveal wasn’t as obvious for the characters in the show. They were aware that someone in the house was working for the evil, sure, but they didn’t know who and technically, neither did any of us for sure. We viewers in reality could theorize that the staff was evil, but that wasn’t confirmed until Vincent pointed it out for everyone in Episode 9 (which is one of the reasons I love him as a character, bless his soul).

Even when Mortimer betrayed the party with the Carnival Master corrupting him and all in Season 3, Episode 9, it wasn’t that obvious for the party, either, that it would ever happen. Matpat was smart to ask about this in Episode 8, for good reason, but at the time Mortimer was still working with them closely, even with his cryptic conversation with Calliope. Even in Episode 9 when Mortimer did betray them, all the party knew before that was that Mortimer was captured by Lucy, was tortured by her, and clearly wanted the pain to end. Even if they were worried he would betray them, all of the things that happened to him within that episode put that betrayal issue far from their minds and they worried about his safety instead, as well as the death challenge they had at the time.

However, in Season 4...we as the viewers explicitly knew that the Sorceress planned to take over the museum, and admits that to Mortimer as early as Episode 2. This same plan is also mentioned again, in conversation between them in Episode 4 or 5 as well, if I’m not mistaken. Even when the guests had no idea, we already had the idea that the Sorceress would betray them. Heck, even in Episode 1 when she starts working with them, she says that she’s on their side “for now,” meaning that her working with them would be temporary. All of those factors led to a not-so-shocking or twisty-feeling reveal for me as a viewer, at least.

Will our remaining guests defeat the Sorceress and get back alive? Could more people die? What do you think of this episode’s death? Let me know!

When you and Eddie first met, you were on the verge of taking your life just wanting to escape from feeling like you weren't important, good enough, pretty enough. You were sitting on the railing of the bridge with your feet dangling over as you watched the water rush underneath it as you thought about what you were about to do and wondered if anyone would care if you were gone.

Eddie was on his way back from a deal when he saw you sitting on the railing of the bridge upset, making him slam on his brakes as he climbed out of the car. He wondered what someone like you was doing sitting on the rail of the bridge, cautiously approaching you not wanting to scare you anymore.

"Hey, are you alright?" He asked cautiously walking over to you.

"Do I look alright?" You asked him quietly.

"No, you don't. I can see something's bothering you, I can listen if you like." He offered as you looked at him.

"Why would you do that? You hardly know me." You asked him.

"Well that's not technically true, I know you enough to think that you are one of the kindest souls I've met and it would be a shame if we lost someone like you all because the world was suffocating you. If you take my hand, we can go get something to eat and talk, and if you don't want to talk that's fine too." He said as you looked at his hand.

You hesitantly took his hand and made it safely to his car where you two got something to eat and found somewhere quiet to eat and talk. You felt a huge relief when talking to Eddie because he never judged or criticized you, he only offered the best advice he could meanwhile Eddie sat there listening to you thinking about how strong and amazing you are to go through the things you went through and yet somehow still survive.

That was the day you fell for Eddie Munson. He saw you for who you were and now some version everybody except you to be.

Every night in my dreams

You have come to show you go on

Ever since Eddie died saving you and Dustin, you got to see him in dreams alive and well still perfect as you remember him. Sometimes you could see and feel him beside you as you tried to navigate life without him which was hard to do because you really missed him and wished he was here with you graduating and pursuing music.

"'86 baby, this is my year." He said beaming at you.

"It is your year baby, your gonna graduate and we're gonna get out this town." You said wrapping your arms around him.

Near, far, wherever you are

I believe that the heart does go on

Once more you open the door

And you're here in my heart

No matter where you went, you always felt him beside you and it was the only reason why you kept going on with life was for him even if you missed him terribly. You moved out of Hawkins and to California where you and Eddie had planned on moving.

A few weeks into dating Eddie you found out that Eddie was a talented artist, so after some convincing, you asked him to draw you to which he agreed but you had a little surprise for him. You were going to be wearing his guitar pick necklace and only that and you couldn't wait for his reaction.

"Eddie I want you to draw me, wearing this." You said watching as his mouth dropped open at the sight of you only wearing his necklace.

"Al...Alright." He stammered out trying to focus on the task at hand.

"Wearing only this." You said.

Love can touch us one time

And last for a lifetime

And never let go till we're gone Love was when I loved you

One true time I hold to

In my life we'll always go on

You knew that you would never find a love like Eddie, he was the love of your life and you guys had so many plans for the future including marriage and kids, you both knew that your love would last forever. You could never love anyone the way you loved Eddie.

It hurt to try to move on with life after Eddie, it really did, it felt unfair and selfish at times but you also knew that Eddie wouldn't want you sitting there mourning him forever. You knew that Eddie was always with you, so you slowly but surely started going on with life and trying to enjoy it again even if he wasn't here.

Go on, I'll get the next one

I'll be alright

Listen, I'll be fine, I'm a survivor, alright

"Go on sweetheart, I'm right behind you and Dustin." Eddie said as the bats started making their way towards you guys.

"No not without you." You pleaded not wanting to leave him behind.

"I'll be alright. Listen I'll be fine, I"m a Munson nothing can kill us alright?" He said pushing you towards Dustin.

"Don't worry about me, you two get out of here." Eddie said as you and Dustin started heading towards the trailer.

You three barely made it before the bats reached you, and you all cheered for now that you outsmarted them. You pulled Eddie in for a long and passionate kiss because you were afraid that you were gonna lose him just then.

"I'm still here sweetheart." He said wrapping his arms around you.

You're here, there's nothing I fear

And I know that my heart will go on

We'll stay forever this way

You are safe in my heart

And my heart will go on and on

Eddie was safe in your heart and that's all that mattered, as long as he was with you, you could navigate life. Your dreams were your favorite part of the night because you always got to see him and it was like nothing changed.

You must promise me that you won't give up

No matter what happens

Promise me now Rose

I promise

And never let go that promise

I'd never let go, Jack

I'll never let go

You sat there with tears streaming down your face as you held Eddie's bloody body in your arms, wishing this had been the one time he didn't choose to be a hero.

"Sweetheart, promise that you won't ever give up, no matter what happens." He said holding your hand as the tears fell even harder.

"Promise me now sweetheart." He said coughing up more blood.

"I promise Eddie." You said.

"And never let go of that promise. I love you, sweetheart." He said as he took his final breathe making you and Dustin cry harder.

"I'd never go, I love you eddie. I'll never let go." You said leaning your head against his as you fully broke down.

an unedited, unrequested steve blurb. set in episode 9 so season 4 spoilers below!

Your nimble fingers tremble as you sort through the piles of donated clothing, the plethora of sounds from the busy crowd swarming you from where you stand in the centre of the gymnasium. Your head is all over the place, fatigued and somehow simultaneously hyperactive as you try to piece together the mess of what had happened over the course of the last few days. The last few months. The last few years. All of the above.

Just vaguely, you can make out Steve’s voice; he’s standing beside you, constantly leaning over your body to reach towards the boxes of clothes cluttering the table beside you. Everytime he reaches over, you catch a waft of his cologne; it calms you. You’re not really sure why you can’t listen to him, why you won’t listen to him. He hasn’t done anything wrong, you’re not upset with him. You just wish that time could stop for a moment.

Eddie’s dead, Max is comatosed, the ground holding your entire town together was split open for reasons you can’t say out loud without sounding like a total maniac. Everything is a mess, a complete and total mess, and you can’t escape it. None of that is Steve’s issue, so why can't you just turn to talk to him? Everyone else seems fine; Steve’s still looking out for everyone, Robin’s still making quippy remarks, Nancy’s still as neat and put together as ever; even Dustin, who was forced to watch his new found hero die in arms only two days ago seems to be holding it together better than you. Why were you such a mess?

Sure, you’ve always felt as though you had a strong bond with Max. The urge to protect her from all possible forms of harm had been looming ever since you met her; she was your kid sister, blood or not. Eddie and you seemed to click upon first meeting, you never really knew him in high school; you wish you did. Even though you didn’t know the guy for that long, he might’ve been one of the greatest people you had the pleasure of knowing. He was a good person, and an even better friend. You hate that everyone’s formed their own opinion of him, you hate that he can’t defend himself, you hate that you can’t tell them the truth.

“Hey.” Steve’s jean clad hip nudges your own, eyebrows furrowed as he peers down at you. “You okay?”

No, not okay. I’m not okay. None of this is okay. How are you holding it together so well? “I’m fine.”

He nods slowly, not believing you for even a second. He doesn’t want to push it, you’d only shrug and brush it off. “You want me to come over tonight? I know your parents are out of town, figured you might not want to be alone.”

And you don’t want to be alone. You really truly don’t. In fact, you want Steve to come over and stay with you because the mere thought of having to spend another night alone with your thoughts in that empty house in this eerie town makes you want to hurl. Yet, the thought of him having to watch you when you become the anxious, emotional wreck that you seem to morph into everytime you get more than ten seconds alone makes you even more nauseous.

“Uh.” You pause, sweeping a hand over your forehead as you fold the last pile of clothes from one box, sorting them into sections and placing a fresh box filled with garments on the table in its wake. “I need to get some things for Max from her trailer and bring them to the hospital. Her mom wants me to bring some things for when she wakes up.” If she wakes up.

“I’ll probably stay at the hospital until late.” You continue, placing a yellow blouse in the section labelled ‘womens’. “So…”

Steve gnaws down on the inside of his mouth. Why don’t you want him around? You’re struggling, and it seems as though the last person you want to see is him, when you’re the person who’s been holding him together since this whole thing happened.

“Can I go with you? To the hospital— and the trailer. I know you don’t like driving in the dark anymore; and I don’t really want you to go over there on your own.” He’s rambling, he knows he is. He sounds like an idiot; why is he panicking? He’s your boyfriend, he’s allowed to care.

Please don’t shut me out, he thinks to himself. His eyes pierce holes into your temple as he watches purposely avoid his gaze.

“Erm—“ Your voice wavers, cutting yourself off. You feel like you’re about to cry, because he’s so perfect; so caring and kind and loving and you’re here self sabotaging because you don’t want to burden him. You’re driving yourself crazy and worrying him sick. “I don’t—“

You look at his face, the way his eyebrows are knitted together, the way his under eyes are darkened, the way his right arm is hovering in the air because he wants to pull you in close to him but doesn’t want to smother you. Your eyes water. “Actually, yeah. Yeah, I’d really like that.”

“Yeah?” His face lights up, he tries to bite back the grin on his face but he can’t stop it; he’s getting through to you. You nod. Your tears fall. Great, now you’re crying.

He coos at you, heart aching as your face crumples and you wrap your arms around his neck, burying your head in the crook. He sighs, one strong hand around the back of your head to support you, the other wrapping around your waist to keep you close to him.

Across the room, Robin gazes over at you. She gives Steve an encouraging thumbs up, and he shoots her a weak grin, before he’s pressing gentle kisses against your hairline. It’s almost pathetic to you how easy it is for him to ease your worries. Not everything is fixed, you know that; but having him around makes things a lot easier.

The crowds around you don’t seem as loud, the room doesn’t seem as small, you can breathe again. So can he.

“Steve?” Your head’s nudged against his chest, hands still clutching the fabric of his cotton shirt. He hums. “Can you stay over tonight?”

He lets out an airy chuckle, pulling you in close to him. “‘Course I can.”

(this is literally just me venting about how i feel about s4 ending and steve giving me the comfort i needed bc i’m not ok sorry bye)

For Nick and June: We manifested a lot and at the end it was for nothing, so so sad.

i'm glad i finally got an ask i feel like i can answer. for the record, i have been keeping up with the spoilers, i know what's up, but i like to keep my tumblr relatively spoiler free, so i make it a point to not publish asks that have big mega spoilers in the asks themselves because i can't hide that under a cut. chances are, if you censor whatever you're trying to say in the ask, i'll understand what you mean and answer under a cut.

so anyway, to this i say- i certainly understand why you feel this way. i also had a spiral on friday night to the point i completely lost my appetite. but i have since surfaced and i'd like to share some thoughts under the cut!

so... ok. does everything seem bad right now? yes. does it seem like we're backtracking in a way that doesn't make sense? yes. but this is how osblaine is, and always has been. i've actually been here before, i had this same level of meltdown when eden was spoiled for me. lost my appetite, cried in the shower, was convinced it was the end of osblaine. and it wasn't. it wasn't anywhere near the end of them, and i think it actually only made them stronger. did it feel like an insurmountable obstacle at that time? yes. but it wasn't.

another thing i'd like to point out is the spoilers are only for the first 8 episodes. lets think back on s4 for just a moment. if we had gotten spoilers in a similar fashion for season 4, i'd imagine this is what it would sound like:

"nick arrests june at the end of ep2 with a unit of guardians. he hands her over to lydia who tortures her, until they decide to send her to a breeding colony. nick has june brought to see him on a bridge and they kiss goodbye. june escapes and makes it to chicago with janine, and nick is ordered to bomb chicago knowing june is there. june gets out of gilead and makes it to canada and reunites with luke and holly."

like... does any of that sound good for osblaine? if we only had spoilers through ep 8 for last season the same as is happening right now, i'd probably have felt pretty hopeless at that point too. hell, after ep 9 spoilers started leaking, there was still a lot of hopelessness. and then look what eps 9 and 10 gave us once we actually saw them.

and this all still actually tracks pretty similarly with s4 in that we will have one osblaine moment (i wish it was in person and not just a phone call, but it will be interesting to see them talk over the phone! they've never done that before) in the first 8 eps before we get to the (hopefully, fingers crossed) epic content at the end of the season.

now as far as the wife and the pregnancy surprise... this is actually what upset me the most. it is the absolute last thing i wanted, it was the thing i was most afraid of happening, and i'm still pretty unhappy about it. but i think there's a LOT more to it than what's being presented at face value. there are a lot of things that could be happening. just off the top of my head - the wife could be a widow and she's pregnant from the previous marriage, she could be making it up (and nick is in on it too) to prevent them from having to have a handmaid. she could just be making it up and nick ISN'T in on it to make him feel like he has to stay (if anyone watched timeless, i'm imagining a situation like what happened with lucy and wyatt when jessica showed back up).

there are many, MANY things that could be going on here and it's not what it seems like right now. of course, i could be wrong and it is also exactly what it seems, and at that point i will go cry in the shower for about three days straight. but i just think, especially knowing bruce and how he likes his twists, there has to be more to it.

anyway, to conclude, i just want to say i absolutely do not think all of our manifesting was for nothing, and we are not at the end of their story yet. we still have another whole season left to go. we just need to keep focusing on manifesting the way we did last season, because look how that turned out for us.

Summary: You’re living life with Firehouse 51. But, you begin to feel feelings for your Paramedic-in-charge; Sylvie Brett. You don’t know how to tell her, understanding the history of her past relationships. Most of all, you don’t want her seeing you differently, should you tell her. You only told your fellow paramedic; Gianna Mackey and your best friend and firefighter; Stella Kidd. However, you beg them both to not tell Brett. However, once Hermann’s fill-in comes in, you believe you’ve waited too long to tell Brett how you really feel about her.

As you close your locker and bid Hermann a farewell and to enjoy his vacation you pass by Brett, but a familiar face.... Grainger....

"Hey, I remember you, Y/n Y/l/n right?" He asks, smiling

Hiding your emotions well, you casually salute three fingers to him before hearing the alarm go off.

"Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, structure fire,"

As you heard the address you head to 61 to deploy for the call.

"Hey why don't you ride shotgun Y/l/N," Mackey suggests, smiling

"Sure, thanks Mackey," you say, opening the passenger side door

"Mackey wanted to ride back?" Sylvie asks

"Yeah, I guess so," you sigh, not looking at her

"Hey, are you alright? You've seemed to be moping for a little bit." Sylvie asks

"Oh I'm fine, a little tired. Lack of sleep," You lie

You were kind of accurate but also very inaccurate. You realized when Sylvie and Grainger were flirting before the call.

"Tell you what, why not tonight after shift I treat you to Molly's?" She suggests

"You sure?" You ask

"Totally," Brett smiles

81, Squad 3 and 61 arrive at the fire. You notice Grainger giving orders out already however, Casey angrily tells him to wait for his orders. Both you and Sylvie watch that unfold but you think nothing of it as Casey is Captain. But you're assuming 40 doesn't have a captain.

After the call, 61 running a severely burned mother to Med, you voluntarily hopped in the back, to avoid Brett seeing your emotions become unfolded. Although they could hear you, you were crying on the inside.

Brett's POV "Hey Mackey do you think Y/l/n is okay?" She asks

"What makes you think that?" Mackey replies back

"On our way to the call earlier she wasn't very talkative like she usually is," she says, "I just wanna know if she's talked to you about anything."

"Nope, she's been quiet about that," Mackey says

Y/n’s POV You lay down on your bed in the quiet area of 51, contemplating life choices. With a handful of Med runs n such, nothing happened out of the ordinary.

"You doing okay kid?" Stella comes over

"Well aside from my jealousy of Grainger easily wooing Brett, I'm fine," you sigh

"You need to tell her before anything happens Y/n," she replies, "You're going to regret it once you decide to tell her when its too late."

"She is inviting me out to Molly's after shift if that means anything.." you say

"That’s the perfect time to do it" Stella smiles before walking away

Once the end of shift came and you make your leave. You try to avoid Brett as much as possible.

"Y/l/n!" Brett calls

You silently sigh to yourself but put on a happy face for her.

"You ready to go love?" She asks, slinging her arm around yours as she drags you along

"For sure," you force a smile

"Hey why don't you join us later, once your done with inventory?" Sylvie suggests to Grainger

"I'd love to," Grainger smiles

On the inside you were freaking out. But you also believed this was the time to tell her, as Stella says.

"Have you been doing okay y/l/n? You're not as talkative as you usually are," Sylvie asks

"Just a long day, like I said this morning Brett, I have had a lack of sleep," you sigh, "Hey I'm gonna get a drink from Stella do you want anything?"

"Just a beer," Sylvie smiles

You smile back, you realize that's the first time you've smiled around Brett.

"Have you told her yet Y/n?” Stella asks, coming over to you

"No," you sigh, "I don't know. You are right by telling her now but I’m just so-"

You notice Stella looking over your shoulder, "Grainger is there isn't he?..."

Stella nods, "Sorry Y/n."

"Two beers," you request, "Might as well be a peace offering."

"Are you gonna stick around?" She asks

"I'm just gonna give them the beers and pretty much lie," you say, "Hey, I'll text you if anything happens."

Stella nods, in approval to your plan. She walks over and gets the beers. You slip her a $10 tip.

"Half of it is working in a full house, the other is... Well, being my Partner in Crime," you smile as you shake off your sadness and force a smile onto your face as you put the beers between the two supposed lovebirds.

"For me?" Grainger smiles

"That's a thanks for today, Welcome to 51," You forcefully smile

My god I want to leave! You begin to feel an inferno build up inside of you. You wanted to punch him in the face but that would not look good on a report.

"Hey, I just remembered I left something at the station. I'm going to run and go grab it and I’m gonna call it a night," you lie, "see you later Boss."

You take your jacket and your helmet and make your leave, putting on your helmet and then gloves. You first make your stop to your apartment, which wasn't too far from Molly's. Grabbing a backpack that would be big enough to store clothes in and essentials. You leave everything clean. As if no one was there. You make haste getting out of your apartment and to your motorcycle, making another leave.

You knock on the door to Boden's office. Which he looks up and greets you how he always does.

"Chief I need to talk to you, if you have a minute," you say, sitting in a chair

"What is it Y/l/n?" He asks

"I know you’re probably not one to listen to somebody's relationship life but um.." You stammer, figuring out how to tell him, "I don't know who else to turn to but only two other people know; Mackey and Kidd. I told them-I told them I really like Brett. However, I’m beginning to see her attraction towards our fill-in Lieutenant; Grainger. But the point is, I'm beginning to feel jealous. On the call this morning I was barely in it until either Mackey or Brett brought me back. I'm not sure if I've ever requested to take time off work. But, I feel that this is the time to. I don't want my emotions getting the best of me again Chief."

"Who else knows about this kind of request?" Boden asks

"Just you and me sir," you reply

"I appreciate the heads up Y/l/n and I appreciate your need to work with your emotions," he says, "How long do you want me to make you absent for?"

"One month," you request

"That's um... That's quite a big request Y/l/n," He sighs

"I understand that completely Chief, but Brett and Mackey are doing an excellent job as a two-person Ambo team, I strongly believe they can do the work in my absence," you say

"If you strongly believe it then so do I," He says, adjusting something on his laptop, "Is there anything else you need?"

"Yes," You sigh, "Don't tell Brett anything of what I told you in this moment. I don't want her feeling guilt over this when she and Mackey have lives to save. But if she does happen to ask, just tell her that I have a family emergency. If-if that's too much I can-"

"It's okay Y/l/n," Boden says, "Go clear your head."

"Thanks Chief," you smile, making your exit

You stop at a gas station to fill up on your motorcycle and eat before your long drive. As you wait for the gas to fill your tank, you hold your phone up to your ear.

"Hey, Stella, it's me," you start

"Hey kid. You doing okay? What's the update?" She asks

"Well, I first went to my apartment to get some things. I then went to the station and requested the Chief for some days off." You say

"How long?" She asks

"A month," you say

"A MON- oh, sorry. A month?" Stella says

"Yeah," you say, "I told Boden that Brett and Mackey and manage without me. It's not like I'm leaving 51."

"That's true," Stella sighs

"Hey, can you pass the word to Mackey too? I told her about this whole thing too," you say, "But neither of you tell Brett. I'm not having her feel guilty over this. This is for me."

"Got it kid, I gotta get back to work. Call me if you wanna talk at all," Stella says

"Noted, bye." You say, hanging up the phone as the gas had just filled up

As you pull off into a parking spot, you make another call.

"Hey, it's me," you smile, "Do you have any space in your house for me to stay in for now? You do? Okay, I'll be there in... God, 3-4 hours. Pull off into a hotel for the night? No, I'm good thanks. I'll make the drive. So long as I'm not in the city anymore. Thanks man, I'll try to keep you posted."

You put your helmet back on and set up your maps into the destination and ride off into the night. Though, you really only made stops at 24-hour gas stations.

Brett's POV The next morning at 51, Brett comes into the station right next to Grainger however, split once they go to their respective engines.

"Hey where's Y/l/n?" Sylvie asks Mackey when she noticed she's not in the ambo

"Family emergency," Mackey replies, clearly lying

"Oh... She didn't tell me," Brett sighs

"She was in a rush, she only figured out last night," Mackey adds

She walks over to Stella, "Hey did Y/l/n tell you-"

"She has a family emergency," Stella says, exactly the same story as Mackey

"She told you too?" Brett asks, "How come she didn't tell me?"

Stella looks at Brett, feeling bad she has to lie to her best friend. However, it was for the best for both you and Brett.

"Who didn't tell you what?" Grainger comes up behind Brett and hugs her

"One of my paramedics had a family emergency and didn't tell me," Brett says

"Well let's not worry about that right now," Grainger smiles as he gives Brett a cheek kiss

"If you guys kiss I’m gonna puke," Stella gags as she walks to the common room, Mackey following

Stella's POV "You're doing a great job Mackey," Kidd says, high-fiving her

"I'd never tell someone's personal info, unless they told me I could. This isn't one of those times," Mackey smiles

"Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Battalion 25, multiple hostile situation at 600 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611"

"That's Navy Pier," Stella realizes

51 deploys to the coordinates that are set in and by the time they get there, different firehouses and police stations are lined at the entrance.

"Voight, talk to me," Boden demands as he walks with them

"Seems like there's more than one perpetrator in this situation," Voight explains, "No casualties thus far, but possible injuries."

Y/n's POV As you get yourself some coffee you pull up the Chicago news radio on your phone.

"This just in, a multiple hostage situation is currently happening at Navy Pier. All civilians near the vicinity must evacuate immediately." The news reporter explains, "All CPD departments and multiple CFD houses are here at the scene.

"Sounds like one crazy adventure," your sister says, "glad your home and away from that."

"Sis, I'm worried," you sigh

"Is it about that Brett girl?" She asks, "forget her. She's missing one hell of an opportunity."

"Thing is I don't know if she's Bisexual." You state

"Even if she is and still sees you differently, she's missing out on a cool little sister," she says, messing up your hair, "I have to head out for work, if you're going out just lock the door and you remember where the spare key is?"

"I do sis," you smile

"See you later," she smiles and she closes the door

You turn back to your phone for the love broadcast of the situation back across Lake Michigan. Your sister was pretty much right on the edge of Michigan, great view of the lake. However, you look out to the window and hope, your house is doing okay. You wish you saw the situation happen from right across it but it was too wide for you to see it happen with your eyes. You sigh, wishing you could leave already. However, you realize your sister has a power boat. You quickly write down a note saying you'll be back and that you're borrowing her power boat. With no sailing experience, turnout gear or medic supplies. Only your bag and communicator, you rush out the door.

"Where's Y/l/n?!" Brett demands Mackey

"Brett you're so blind, Y/n is so into you!" Stella says, blurring out, "She left because she didn't want you to press her into talking to you about it. She didn't want you to see her any different if she told you. Let alone questioning if you like girls and you're beginning to go with hot-shot Grainger over there, so she wanted to get her mind off of her emotions."

Brett stands there, dumbfounded. Why didn't you tell her.

"Stella!" You call into your walkie

"Y/n?" Stella calls back

"On your six!" You say, smiling, "can't stay away."

She runs up to you and gives you a big bear hug.

"Listen up 51, I'm no commanding officer but I do sure know the place on the back of my hand. Captain Casey and Chief Boden... With your permission may I give the orders?" You ask through the walkie

"Yes ma'am," Casey answers

"What's your plan Y/l/n?" Chief Boden asks

"Okay, I scouted the perimeter and there's only, assuming they're away from the windows. Squad 3 you take the Northside, you try to get CPD officers into the building to clear the field for you. Engine 51, to Grainger with any room you have, get your hoses ready should any form of fire start. Truck 81, if shots are fired, move in, get as many civilians out as you can. I'll move in with you guys and give extra arms to help." You announce

You take a giant breath as you finish out your speech. Stella, Brett and Mackey look at you in awe as you've never taken initiative before.

"Y/l/n, I thought I have you on vacation," Boden comes up to you, "And you're not usually one to give orders."

"Apparently can't stay away sir," you sigh, adjusting your belt, "And I know this place all too well."

"Very well Y/l/n," Boden smiles, "You heard the lady men."

You watch Squad 3 and follow Truck 81 as you meet up with Burgess and Ruzek.

"You're gonna need this," Burgess heads you a 9 milimeter

"Thanks..." you say, taking it and concealing it

You hear screaming and gunshots. And hear a blaze begin.

"Grainger fire! I don't know where it is! Find it!" You demand

"You got it kid," he says

"Move in!" The muffled walkie screams as you, along with 81, Burgess, Ruzek and many other CPD officers barge into the building, ringing shots, killing nearly all the perpetrators.

"Hey kiddo it's okay it's okay," you tell her, checking for any signs of injury

"Y/l/n!" Kim yells, you immediately shield the kid as a shot rings out

You let out a strangled scream as your arm is bleeding; a severe gunshot wound. It didn't go into your skin and damage your bone however, the bullet made a real "good" indent in your skin as it rang out. Kim pulls the trigger on her glock 17 and kills the guy immediately. Kim helps you cover your wound as you still hold onto the kid, hoping any parental unit would claim her.

"Mommy," the girl cries

You turn over and see the mom, on the ground. You hand the kid over to Kim as you go to help Severide and Casey. You all get her onto the board to get her to 61.

"Brett, Mackey need the Ambo ready," you speak into your walkie

"Hey Burgess, you can let the girl into the ambo," you say as she helps the little girl into the back

"Aren't you coming with us?" Brett asks

"Can't, I have to take my sisters' power boat back across Lake Michigan," you sigh, "My sister is a doctor over at her local hospital, I'll drive myself over there."

"You're gonna bleed out, you need to get to med," Brett demands, calmly

"I can take care of myself Brett, don't worry about me I'll be fine." You say, trying to walk away

"Y/n!" Brett yells your first name

You never heard Brett call you by your first name. You shake it off before settling back to your stoic self.

"Let me go, please," you say calmly, "I'm only gone for a month."

"Did you tell Stella and Mackey to lie to me?" She asks you

"I didn't want you worrying about me," you sigh, "Besides, I'm going to be fine."

She lets go of you as you walk back to your sisters boat. She felt tears welding into her eyes.

"Brett, we gotta go," Mackey calls out

Mackey shuts the doors as Brett hops into the driver's seat and activates the sirens.

You arrive to your sisters workplace as a nurse rushes over to you.

"What happened?!" She asks

"Zoomed across Lake Michigan and helped my firehouse, but unfortunately I got grazed," you sigh

"Y/n?!" Your sister calls out to you, "oh my god Y/n you took my power boat?!"

You nod, "They needed my help."

"You have never changed," she laughs, "I can check you out."

Once your sister had stitched up your wound she discharged you from the hospital. Once you get back to your sisters place, you open your Chicago news app. The first article that comes up is the one from earlier.

"Firehouse 51 paramedic makes a chief-status plan while on this call today," The news reporter says, "According to 51s' Captain Matt Casey, it was an astounding plan. Girl's a hero."

You sigh as you don't really feel like a hero, just another day as a paramedic.

Your sister comes home late at night however, doesn't find you anywhere.

"Called Chief Boden and told him I changed my mind on my one month vacation, I'm heading back to 51 right now." Your sister read aloud, "Bought you something that’s in the fridge for taking care of me for a short time."

You park your motorcycle in one of the street parking slots as you keep your helmet on for secrecy. Without knowing it was you, Brett walks past you. Once you get to your locker, you try to make a quick haste to get yourself ready.

"In a rush?" Stella smiles

She comes up to you and gives you a big bear hug.

"Missed you kid," she smiles

Before you could say anything else you hear arguing from afar. You and Stella go to the garage and notice Brett and Grainger arguing.

"So you led me on?" He asks

"Not exactly, I wasn't aware of Quinn's feelings and I wasn't sure how to process it," Brett starts, "I just-"

"Just what Sylvie?" He asks, angrily

You notice she's beginning to falter.

"Y/n left, and for what?" He asks her, "She isn't a Lieutenant, Captain, or Chief! What makes her so special?! I don't think you made the right choice of making her on your paramedic team. How are YOU even the paramedic-in-charge?"

You've had enough, "HEY!"

They both turn to you, Brett almost crying years of joy. You place a gentle hand onto her shoulder, reassuring her that you'll settle this.

"You have NO RIGHT to question her position as Paramedic-in-Charge Mr. Hot shot Lieutenant." You spat in his face

He was about to open his mouth to say something else, but closes it when you give him the look of: 'oh I'm not done mister!'.

"She’s one of the GREATEST PICs I have ever worked with in my years of being in the Fire Department service. She’s one of the VERY few, that I am honored to be working with, one I come to know and love." You continue, "You question that position? And for what? The most beautiful Paramedic is beginning to question herself and what SHE wants? No, one should always be supportive. No matter what, you should leave my guy."

"Hate to tell you rookie, I'm not leaving yet," he tries to sound smug

"Oh you're leaving alright buddy," Hermann says, walking into the firehouse

He doesn't say anything else but give you one last look of disgust before leaving. You let out a breath of relief. Stella and Mackey applaud for you.

"You stood up for me?" Brett asks, looks at you, "Don't you hate me for hurting you?"

"Brett," you smile, "I never did hate you. I left so I could clear my head."

She smiles as she hugs you, "my god oh how I've missed you."

Your head drops down and rests on Brett's shoulder for your head to be cradled.

"I'm sorry Sylvs," you call her by her nickname, "You remember how I used to act... I didn't want that happening again."

"You could've just talked to me love," Brett whispers

After shift you head over to Molly's with Stella.

"How's your arm kid?" She asks

"Hurts but my sister stair to be careful, and then just have someone at med undo the stitches." You say

"That's good, that's good," Stella states, "You know, Brett was worried sick on that call this morning."

"Really?" You ask, leaning in towards Stella

"Speak of the Devil, there she is," Stella smiles, waving her over

"You look great Quinn," Brett smiles

"You look beautiful Sylvs," you smile back, sipping your whiskey

Stella looks at you, a look you know too well. That says, "go get your girl!"

You make fun if her look and then turn your attention to Brett.

"So Brett, how you been doing the last couple of days?" You ask

"Worrying about you," she sighs

You nearly choke on your drink as that though has never crossed your mind. You only thought that Sylvie had eyes for Grainger. Of all people, she worries about you.

“Really?” You ask, clearing your throat, “Why’s that?”

“you didn’t talk to me before heading off to your sister’s,” She says, “Also for telling Stella and Mackey to lie to me.”

“I didn’t want you to worry about me,” You say, “I wasn’t about to have my emotions get the best of me again.”

“You remember last time?” Sylvie asks

“Of course I do,” You say

“Do you want to get out of here?” Sylvie asks, “I know you don’t want that kind of thing to be talked about in public.”

“Sure,” You smile

You get a glance at Stella and she gives you a face of ‘go get your woman girl!’

Once the both of you reach your apartment, you follow Sylvie into hers.

re: your tags on that one post abt plotholes in rnm: what are the plotholes that make you lose the most sleep?

Hi! Okay... strap in, because there are a lot of little and big things that wiggle into my thoughts and makes me wonder ...am I the only one who couldn't follow that plotline?

In my opinion RNM suffers more from abandoned narratives and continuity errors than plot holes I guess, since we only have 2 seasons, with at least 2 more to go I guess I can hope they come back to these issues... but: [Under the cut plus some spoilers for season 3]

Things I would like explained :

1. What did Jesse Manes fund with family money in 1x08 ? I'm guessing it was surveillance of the town and the search for more aliens that could have escaped the military in 1947-1948. The idea that Jesse funded Caulfield is just laughable to me, along with how he was able to get his Army-assigned son moved from Germany to New Mexico for 5 years and no one noticed?? Caulfield has to be separate from whatever Jesse was doing in Roswell. Clearly there is still an ACTIVE military project focused on aliens because Flint isn't AWOL, Flint also takes Noah's body to Area 51, so where was Jesse in violation of his orders (Alex's threat to Jesse in 1x08 and then shipping him to Niger)? Surveilling citizens and setting up cameras all over town?

2. Did they ever build an Air Force base on the Fosters Homestead Ranch? (1x01-1x02) ...then it's never mentioned again.

3. I am aware I am the only one who cares about this little bit, but the show seemed to set up a narrative in season 1 about the spotlight Roswell shined white victims of crimes - like Katie and Jasmine, that the town of Roswell holds quite a lot of racism regarding justice- vilifying Rosa for over 10 years, ignoring the deaths of people around Ranchero Night, and then Noah kills Wyatt Long's best friend Hank Gibbons in 1x13. I dunno, I was expecting more from Wyatt in season 2 about this than picking a fight with Michael over Mimi's missing persons sheet and showing up with a crossbow in 2x04. And like, there was a theme of people going missing in season 2!! Mimi, Jenna, the weird twins from 2x06, Charlie -- but yet, no closer scrutiny by Sheriff Valenti other than her focus on Max Evans and the story about Mexico- Like this felt not like a plot hole, but a dropped narrative -- to wrap up the fate of Racist Hank in a missing persons sheet in 2x01. To treat him weirdly like all of Noah's other victims (who were women and men of color and poor), but for a few factors like he was white, he had actual lines in the show over a couple of episodes, and he's one of the few townspeople we learn his first and last name still sticks out in my mind as strange. The Doylist explanation is the actor wasn't available for season 2, but the Watson-perspective of this is just someone the in-show universe doesn't care about ...? Okay. I will keep that in mind, and try to ignore the fact that the town of Roswell swings wildly back to caring about white victims again in 2x13 with Jesse Manes.

4. The Alighting from 1x13 - just how far away was it from happening? Noah was ready to stick a sheriff's deputy, the town event planner and Michael (who probably would be been the only one to go missing without much fanfare, except maybe by Alex) into a pod...for how long? Months? Years? What was his endgame? how did he expect to go unnoticed by the town while he waited for his alien salvation/alien UBER to arrive? Could he just mindwarp everyone into forgetting about the pod squad? Since we didn't see any alien ships show up in the six months from 1x13 to 2x13, and no further follow up by any of our heroes about what Noah was babbling about... I'm going to say this should come back into play for season 3, otherwise it's the most egregious plot hole from season 1.

5. Why did Flint want to work with Helena? Jesse had this master plan that Helena knew all about apparently but she never shares the plan with Flint? Jesse never shares this plan with Flint either? Why? As far as I can tell from the plot of season 2, Jesse takes the console piece from Alex, he was going to kill Alex to keep him out of the way, use the console to blow up civilians, he created a paper trail that pointed the finger at Max, and then when everyone knew the truth about aliens, he was going to use HIS atomizer bomb to release the toxin that Charlie had already developed for Project Shepherd to kill all the aliens.... WHY would Flint want to stop that, especially since they fight in 2x11 over how slow Jesse was moving in his plans? Other than objecting to killing Alex, why would Flint turn Alex over to Helena to blackmail Michael into building a second atomizer bomb? He should have just kept Alex out of the way until it was all over and let Jesse proceed with his plans. Flint's desire to work with Helena Ortecho remains a plot hole to me, that is explained in the most flimsy way of he thinks his dad isn't serious about killing all the aliens even though he has the means? And if he takes Alex from Jesse's control so easily, why not steal the bomb Jesse had too?

6. These are more gripes about continuity, not really plot holes, but the fact we have this loose timeline of events but it doesn't match the weather of filming.... Like Heather Hemmens looked so gorgeous in that little silk outfit in 2x01, but she's wandering outside in Dec in Roswell New Mexico looking like that. I get that it was filmed in August/Sept of 2019 but come on... so my main frustration is I have no idea what season and month is supposed to be on screen. Universe timeline says Winter but filming schedule meant it was early fall with still having the heat of summer there...then the show ends in May/June in the universe, but we all know RNM wrapped in Dec 2019/Jan 2020 so they are all bundled up in winter again.

7. Also on continuity, small things like Rosa's birthday being wrong, the fact her astrological sign isn't Pieces for either date, openly letting Greg Manes see Rosa, not seeming to care that Liz's ex-fiance hears that Rosa is alive - like i'm sure her "dead" sister came up in conversation between Liz/Diego

- the show gives us this beautiful conversation with Michael sharing his background with Alex in 1x10, but then Alex completely forgets it in 2x04 by dropping some line like "this is what you do with family" when Michael expresses confusion about a height chart. Also, on the same note- the jabs about the Library being a dive bar, also felt like a drop in continuity because Alex knows that Michael just lost his mom (1x12) , the government IS studying aliens, and his brother is in a pod, so like, he has some very valid reasons to drink if that's what he wanted to do with in his life in early season 2!! but, also he knows Michael is a genius??

- Why Alex never mentions Rosa, Isobel's blackouts/why Michael gave up UNM, or even hint about what happened with his dad in the shed during his conversation with Maria in 2x05 is also beyond bizarre to me. It was an "information" dump conversation that Alex still doesn't share all the information he has about a situation and just ends up looking kind of judgmental in my opinion.

- the truck conversation in 2x06 between Maria and Alex, why Maria prompts a girl's name when Alex says he's never been in a real relationship INSTEAD of addressing the very real elephant in the room, Michael Guerin, that they had a conversation about in 2x05- also feels like a gap in continuity.

8. Science wise- the pathogen that Charlie developed? It was supposed to be so specific that it could kill a leader of Al Quada and all of their direct descendants but leave the rest of the population unharmed. [Which um, that's a war crime, but whatever!] How was Maria affected? the DNA they had at Caulfield to develop it - like, Maria was descended from Louise and Louise lived free. The only person that pathogen SHOULD have affected was Michael (if they used Nora to base it on) Unless you're telling me that there's some protein in "alien dna" that is so specific to aliens, that no other human shares it, but also so completely undetectable that Kyle couldn't find it in Maria's blood... ? I suppose it's possible. I hope we get more explanation about that in season 3. It makes me wonder why Caulfield/Project Shepherd ever let Patty Harris go after she volunteered for some study then, and remained content to just pay her medical bills through a fake insurance company? [But also didn't flag Mimi and all the doctors that Maria took her to???]

9. Michael's hand. I'm going to reserve judgment about this, because some of my salt on this is based on season 3 promo pictures, but I really thought that moment in 2x13 when he takes off his hat, while Alex is singing, you see him without the wrapping on his hand, that maybe he found some peace with Jesse dead and demolishing the shed with Alex. But then it looks like the hand-danna is all over season 3, right up until the finale of season 3, so... was that a mistake in wardrobe AND not a beautiful moment of character growth??? I wish I could extend some grace to RNM about that, but alas... see above for why I have trust issues.

10. Perhaps I wasn't watching season 1 closely, but I thought Noah's madness was brought on by the fact he was stuck in his pod? That it was "lower class travel accommodations" and Isobel's scream at 13 got his attention? I assumed that he stayed in the pod, possessing Isobel on and off, right up until he used her body to kill Rosa in 2008, absorbing enough power to break out. So how did Noah find Jim Valenti so quickly? If it was through Isobel's memories, then why did Jim not immediately have Noah, some random alien approaching him about his recently dead daughter, hauled off to Caulfield? Jim pays $1,000 for Rosa's body, putting her in a pod [Noah's broken pod??] and stores her, waiting for...something? An alien to come along to bring her back. So did Jim know about The Savior? Why would Jim work with Noah and vice versa? Again, I'm hoping we get more about this in season 3.

11. Was there a point of keeping Alex in the Air Force? He arranges a place for them to work on bringing Max back, but I feel like anyone could have done that? Like Isobel had money, she could have rented a storage facility. All of the equipment was borrowed from the hospital, not the military. The information about 1947-1948 was from the drives decoded from Caulfield or the AAR report left by Flint in the Project Shepherd bunker (which again was decommissioned, not an active military installation). I could support the decision if it had provided some richness to the plot or some conflict within the character, neither of which really happened. Alex hacking the government and going undercover in the Air Force to protect Michael is basically fanon. I love that fanon, but alas...

12. Finally, the time jump. What year are we jumping into? 2020? 2021? Why does it make me think none of those questions above will be answered.

The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Episode Titles Revealed

During yesterday’s Netflix‘s Geeked Week announcements, The Umbrella Academy creator and showrunner Steve Blackman has revealed the official titles for the hit superhero series’ upcoming ten new episodes. There is currently no release date yet for the highly-anticipated third season of The Umbrella Academy, but it is still in production in Canada.

The Umbrella Academy Season 3 episode titles are listed below:

Episode 1: “Meet the Family,” teases the Hargreeves siblings’ highly-anticipated introduction to their father’s new children, The Sparrow Academy.

Episode 2: “World’s Biggest Ball of Twine”

Episode 3: “Pocket Full of Lightning”

Episode 4: “Kugelblitz,” which is a term used for a radiation-formed black hole.

Episode 5: “The Kindest Cut”

Episode 6: “Marigold,” which according to showrunner Steve Blackman means something to fans of the graphic novels, which might potentially be a reference to how the siblings’ powers were created.

Episode 7: “Auf Wiedersehen,” which is the German word for goodbye.

Episode 8: “Wedding at the End of World,” teasing the one of the characters will be taking his/her relationship to the next level.

Episode 9: “Six Bells,” which Blackman noted will mean more to viewers once they’ve started watching the upcoming new season.

Episode 10: “Oblivion,” teasing another End of the World scenario for the Umbrella Academy, with Blackman described it as “ominous,” and “terrifying.”

Based on the popular, Eisner award-winning comics and graphic novels created and written by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, The Umbrella Academy stars Elliot Page as Vanya/Number Seven, Tom Hopper as Luther/ Number One, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison/ Number Three, Robert Sheehan as Klaus/ Number Four, David Castañeda as Diego/ Number Two, Aidan Gallagher as Number Five, and Justine H. Min as Ben/ Number Six.

Last season, Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right – the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three-year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which – spoiler alert! – turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?).

Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.

Season 3 will also introduce the Sparrow Academy consists of Justin H. Min as a different Ben, Justin Cornwell (I Am the Night) as Marcus, Britne Oldford (Hunters) as Fei, Jake Epstein (Suits) as Alphonso, Genesis Rodriguez (Big Hero 6) as Sloane, and Cazzie David as Jayme as well as an Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube playing the role of Christopher.

Reacting To: The Hollow (Season 2 Episode 4)

Episode Title: Puzzled

Spoiler Warning: Kindly proceed if you’ve already seen the episode or are able to tolerate spoilers.

1. Continuing on from the cliffhanger in the previous episode, the gang tries to evade the green lasers being shot by the Stormtrooper-esque army and they manage to find safety in the building Mira is in. But the inside of that building isn’t so normal; They’ve actually entered a weird dimension of some sort with floating objects all around.

2. We get mini reunions between Mira and the rest of the guys. We also see Mira and Skeet having a cute little moment together with Skeet hugging and addressing her as “Meerkat”, just like her parents. And say what? Skeet is actually a nickname given to him by Mira; His real name is Bernard! Fascinating...

3. Mira wants their help to escape this dimension (in which gravity seems to work differently here) and go back to the real world. They follow her lead into a colorful building with loads of staircases that go in different directions. Adam fills Mira in on everything that’s happened since they got separated.

4. Skeet is still confident in his theory that everything will go back to normal once his avatar dies in the game. So he foolishly jumps off the platform but drops right back onto it; It’s probably due to how the laws of Physics don’t apply to this place right now. Adam and now, Mira try to drill into his head that they’re most likely not in ‘The Hollow’ anymore and that he shouldn’t take such a risk. But judging from his facial expression afterwards, I’m pretty sure he will make another attempt.

5. Mira takes them to a purple section with two wheels on its wall. She thinks it’s a puzzle that they should solve. Suddenly, this strange person in a suit with a multi-colored cube for his head pops up on a cloud (see picture above) and starts mocking Mira as she’s already been acquainted with him.

6. They start investigating and experimenting with the two wheels on the purple wall, which if you turn them in different ways, they move portions of the floors and walls. They believe they are supposed to form the missing section of the path they’re on. The weird cube-head guy start messing with Mira and tries to trick her into thinking she’s doing the wrong thing.

7. But after working on the puzzle some more, they are successfully able to create a path that leads them to an empty room. Ugh, great. More puzzles. The cube-head guy reappears and he gives them a riddle about them falling and sure you know it, the floor gives way and they all start to fall.

8. As everybody else is focused on getting themselves onto a tower’s platform, Skeet still doesn’t give two effs and is just relaxing whilst falling to his death. He should be glad that Kai is able to fly because I’m starting to get annoyed with him trying to purposely die all the time.

9. Just when I thought they’re all done with obstacles, the tiles of the platform they’re standing on start jumping up and down vigorously and they eventually form a huge cube with cube-guy’s face on it. It’s time for their final test. The cube then re-configures itself into a Rubik’s cube puzzle. Mira instantly knows that they’re supposed to form the logo of ‘The Hollow’. But they need to solve this puzzle quickly because the tower is about to collapse.

10. With their combined effort, they manage to form the logo. But cube-head guy just has to rain on their and mine’s parade and says that they have one more game to play. OMG! Just stop! Can we please move on from these puzzles and games?

11. A portal opens and they all need to go in as quickly as they can. They are then taken to another world, where everything is empty and yellow? We find out that they’re now supposed to play a game show called ‘Find That Portal’ with Andy Kuma aka Akuma as it’s host. So Akuma’s back! The last time we saw him, he fell off the edge of the mountain after battling Adam for the Ishibo in season 1.

12. However, he doesn’t seem like his old self. That’s pretty concerning. Anyways, he tells the group that they need to choose one of three doors that would lead them to freedom. And if they were to choose the incorrect one, well...I’m pretty sure it’s game over for them. Before they could discuss as a group, Kai blurted out, “Door No. 1″. *Face palms....Kai..

13. Akuma reveals what’s behind Door No. 2, which is just a donkey. So, the portal is behind one of the 2 remaining doors. He gives them the chance to switch their answer. The guys don’t think they should switch because to them, the odds of winning is still 50:50. But Mira, being the supposed probability genius tells them that they should switch because that would make their odds to now be 75:25. Isn’t this conditional probability or something? I kinda understand her frame of mind.

14. Let’s see if she’s right....NOPE! Our girl is wrong. Ugh, how disappointing! The door reveals Katsuro, the beast that Adam had also beaten in Season 1. They try to forcibly open Door No.1 but it wouldn’t budge. It looks like it’s a rematch between the beast and Adam....and Adam wins again! And lucky for them, the beast accidentally breaks open the door and they are able to escape into the portal.

15. They are pulled into a peaceful forest at night time. They want to keep moving but aren’t sure where to start. How about y’all use your map? And they do LOL. But wait, it has reset itself and it’s empty again! Adam thinks that the reason for this is because they’re not players in this game anymore. I’m so confused as to whether they’re in the game or not. I want to know what really happened to them after winning the game last season. They need to find Weirdy to make sense of all of this.

16. Bernard, I mean Skeet spots a flashing light somewhere in the distance and they all make their way over there. Adam accidentally slips on a path of slime on the way. They think it’s left by a slime monster, which is probably true. Skeet randomly slides on the path of slime and I guess everyone else decides to do the same?

17. As they’ve stopped sliding, Skeet notices that the hill they saw a couple of minutes ago, changed positions. Is he sure that’s a hill? I’m pretty sure it’s a monster. How does a hill have spikes all around it?

18. And it turns out to be a giant snail, with razor sharp teeth! That explains all of that slime they just slid on. They battle the snail but it’s really strong and it takes out Adam and Kai in the process. It troubles me how they’re having such a hard time beating this dumb snail, especially after all the other enemies they’ve faced in the past. The snail then grabs hold of Mira and as it’s about to eat her, Skeet saves her and apparently sacrifices himself? What did the snail do to him? It was off camera.

19. I love it when we see someone like Skeet do something heroic for the first time. But I hope he’s gonna be alright...even though it was always his intention to purposely lose the game.

20. Mira becomes very angry and emotional and starts yelling at the snail. Umm, do what you need to do girl. All of a sudden, a man somewhere in the distance calls out for the snail (his name is Louie?) and it leaves. Was that the snail’s owner or something?

21. They go over to Skeet, who’s lying unconscious on the ground. They try to give him the medicine that was left by the team who pixelated last episode but it isn’t working. OMG! I’m starting to get emotional just by watching this. I know he’s gonna be alright (I think) but it’s so sad watching Mira cry like that. And I say that because if he’s really dead, he would have pixelated by now. He’s probably just unconscious or really hurt. Basically, it’d better be a false alarm. If not, I don’t know what Mira would do; Would she take her revenge against the snail or the snail’s owner?

S4 Rewatch - Investigation

Autopsies: Scully does autopsies in 9 episodes this season, similar to last season. Memorable autopsy moments include: the autopsy on the baby in 4x02 Home where Mulder and Scully are squished into the closet (and making inappropriate jokes in a cut scene that is canon at this point); Mulder checking the collarbone of the skeleton of the little girl and Scully assuring him it’s not Samantha in 4x10 Paper Hearts; and Mulder breaking the tail off the desiccated corpse in 4x20 Small Potatoes.

Rule-Breaking: Some pretty epic rule-breaking from Scully this season: in 4x08/09 Tunguska/Terma she refuses to tell Congress where Mulder is and is held in Contempt of Congress - LEGEND; she hides Mulder’s inappropriate actions in 4x10 Small Potatoes; she again covers Mulder’s inappropriate actions (sensing a theme here) and destroys evidence when Mulder is implicated in murders in 4x23 Demons; and (although - spoiler alert - we don’t know this yet) she lies to the FBI in the finale that the body discovered in Mulder’s apartment is Mulder. Go off Scully.

Scully’s in Danger: This is a baaad season for Scully. She is attacked and held hostage by the Alien Bounty Hunter, is abducted and narrowly misses being lobotomized, is attacked and almost thrown in an incinerator by her one night stand, is chased by guard dogs, is shot at, is almost hit by a plane during a car chase, narrowly escapes being sexually assaulted by a shapeshifter masquerading as her partner, is threatened at gunpoint by her partner, is pushed down the stairs, and is attacked by suspects in 7 episodes. She is choked, beaten up, suffers from minor cuts and bruises, is knocked out at least twice, is diagnosed with an inoperable nasopharyngeal tumor, suffers from nosebleeds in 4 episodes, and her cancer metastasizes.

Mulder’s in Danger: It’s not great for Mulder either. This season he is hit with a poison dart, is imprisoned in a Russian work camp, is experimented on, crashes the truck he’s driving, is threatened with an arm amputation, is hit by an oil explosion, is shot at a couple times, is chased by guard dogs, is almost hit by a plane during a car chase, is chased by the military, is on an airplane intercepted by aliens, is imprisoned in a closet, undergoes an experimental treatment to reclaim memories, is attacked by suspects in 5 episodes, and (according to Scully) commits suicide. He is beaten up, temporarily paralyzed, is whipped, knocked out, given an experimental alien virus vaccine and exposed to the black oil, suffers a head injury, suffers from minor radiation burns, and takes ketamine and gets a hole drilled in his head, resulting in amnesia, seizures, and suicidal behavior.

Hospitals: Not much hospital time this season - surprisingly given the injuries described above. They’re at the hospital with Mrs. Mulder in 4x01 Herrenvolk. The big one is 4x14 Momento Mori with multiple key hospital scenes: Mulder bringing Scully flowers when she tells him about her cancer; Scully’s mom coming to see her in the hospital; Scully’s hospital bed journal (aka love letter to Mulder); the final beautiful scene in the hallway where they hug and give each other the most loving looks I’ve ever seen.

Driving: Mulder is the driver with Scully as passenger in 16 episodes. This season Scully is the driver with Mulder as passenger in 4, which is twice as many as the previous seasons. She drives in 4x04 Unruhe when she is disturbed by the lobotomization of the victims and wants to get out of there, NOT debate theories with Mulder. She drives in 4x08 Tunguska so that Mulder can jump out to chase another lead. She drives in 4x11 El Mundo Gira. And she drives in 4x23 Demons because Mulder is suffering from seizures. This is where we see why Scully doesn’t usually drive: she is a TERRIBLE parker. Between this and Syzygy last season I suspect the more stressed Scully is the faster she drives. She also made a 6-8 hr drive from D.C. to Rhode Island in under 2 hours so...

Line of Duty?: Mulder kills 4 people (in 4x02 Home, 4x04 Unruhe, 4x10 Paper Hearts, and 4x12 Leonard Betts) this season - compared to 1 or 2 the previous seasons. Scully kills 2 people (in 4x02 Home and 4x12 Leonard Betts). Fun fact: they both kill Leonard Betts, but only Scully’s sticks. (Actually not really sure why shocking him killed him ostensibly permanently when other methods didn’t?)

Investigation: They spend only 2 episodes investigating primarily together this season, 19 investigating both together and separately, and 2 primarily apart. And 1 (4x07 Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man) that they’re barely in. As usual they spend most of the mytharc episodes separated, often coming together just for a few key scenes.

Solve Rate: 62% overall solve rate at the end of the season, about the same as last season. 58% solve rate for this season. Again I’m counting the two-part mytharc episode individually, and most of them go unsolved. Only 3 MOTW cases went unsolved this season - 4x05 The Field Where I Died, 4x06 Sanguinarium, and 4x11 El Mundo Gira. We got to see Skinner’s reaction to that last one so just assume that goes down on all of these cases - whether solved or not.

SPN Season 15 Spoiler Sheet, update 9/9

Hope everyone enjoyed the gag reel today! This week brings us a few tiny tidbits about 15x5 and a few general (although confusing) spoilers from Dabb.

General Info (oldest to newest)

There is likely to be 20 episodes

They are filming the 4th episode 1st, which Jensen is directing

Returning this year are: Rowena, Ketch, Eileen,Amara, and Adam

Jared and Jensen know the ending. Jensen struggled with it at first. Misha does not know the ending as of SDCC

Matt Cohen and Richard Speight Jr. will direct

Sam, Dean, and Cas will struggle with the concept of free will and if they ever really had it

The focus will be more on Hell than Heaven

There is hope to wrap up some Wayward Daughters storylines in the back half of the season

They are adding a whole extra day to filming to do the final scene (Implies logistics- lots of returning people?)

Brad Bucker used the word “romance” when asked about Sam and Dean’s arcs. Did not specify who.

Chuck will be more of an absent protagonist in the 1st half of the season (but he in in ep 4)

At the beginning of the season Dean and Cas will still have a rift. They will reconcile “at some point”. Jensen claims as of script 4 they still have friction. This has been repeated several times, from Misha as well. He indicated Dean is still mad at Cas, but Cas doesn’t feel to blame for Mary’s death.

In an interview, Kripe indicated that the series ending would have “peace” for Sam and Dean

Not much new at the TCA’s, but it was said it is “unlikely” Jeffery Dean Morgan will be back since his last appearance was such a good end note. There were some jokes about a Castiel spin off. Hell, I’d watch.

There will be a special tribute ep, not clear if its one of the 20 or additional

Misha will be in 15 out of 20 episodes this season

According to Dabb, Sam and Dean are going to start to lose people who, in past seasons, we would’ve never lost — and lose them in a very real way. Our guys are going to realize there’s a certain finality, and some of the things they’ve relied on to get through the day — people, talents, things like that — they are no longer going to be able to roll out. And that’s going to throw them for a loop (Unfortunately, my guess in Rowena)

Also according to Dabb, Jack is still in the empty and “he’s not coming back in the near future” (this makes no sense. He’s on set for several episodes- interacting with the boys)

Cas’ deal with the Empty may come up later in the season.

Misha posed with the John Wayne Gacy clown

Jensen posted a series of pics- one clean shaven, one vid of him shaving, and one where he appeared to be in character with blood and dirt on his face and in Dean plaid, but with his beard… confusing.

Jensen was photoed filming (wearing an FBI jacket)outside with Alex!

Misha and Jared filmed outside with a woman and young girl. They were running from the clown guy and a few other zombie looking creatures. CAS WAS NAKED (haha just no trench) and holding a shotgun. It could have been rehearsal and there was no camera in the clip shared by a fan which might explain the coat? Another fan said it was hot and Misha kept taking the coat off, so I’m sure this just a piece of rehearsal footage.

Alex was filming in white sunglasses. Other set photos indicate he had makeup on his eyes making them look burnt out. There is some spec that Jack will come back blind.

According to Variety, the boys will escape the zombies in a temp shelter. They are working together, but Cas feel “detached.” Misha seems to indicate that Cas feels unfairly blamed in Mary’s death and is deeply upset about Jack.

Jensen mentioned a guest star “fan favorite” that hasn’t been seen since season 7 that is no longer in the business. Guesses include Becky, who hasn’t acted in a while but isn’t exactly a fan favorite, Meg, who hasn’t acted but she was in season 8, and Balthazar or Frank or Jo or Rufus, but all act frequently. Jensen doesn’t always have the most accurate season memory, so he could be off on the season. Since this seems like a Chuck episode, my guess is Becky but I hope for Meg. SOURCE UNCONFIRMED- I haven’t seen this in a reliable source, so take it with a grain of salt.

There was a beaver mascot on set… it looks like they are filming at a school called Beaverdale

Another Round of Fanfic Asks

Again I know that these are supposed to be asks, but I’m taking a break from editing my latest fic and this seemed fun to do. It’s these questions that I’m doing this time.

Behind the Scenes of Fic Writing: 30 Questions for Authors

1. What was the first fandom and/or pairing that you wrote fic for?

I first started writing fanfic for the 2012 CW reboot of Beauty and the Beast for Vincent and Catherine. But these fics have since been deleted. I didn’t write fanfic again until 2015.

2. Do you participate in any writing events or challenges throughout the year? If so, what do you like about them?

No, I don’t. I would like to one day, but right now, I’m content just writing whatever I want to write, whenever I want to.

3. Do you write fics from start to finish, or skip around?

Start to finish. I need to go in order of events or I get all confused.

4. Do you outline before you start writing? If so, how far do you stray from that outline?

I create some form of outline. For the most part, I don’t stray, but every once in awhile it will happen.

5. What is the perfect environment for you to write in?

I prefer to write in the comfort of my own home, but I can write from anywhere. The only thing is that if I’m writing in public, my back and the screen NEEDS to be facing a wall, so that people can’t read over my shoulder and the screen brightness is turned all the way down.

6. If you’re really concentrating, how many words can you write in a day?

I don’t have an exact number, but it’s a lot.

7. Which part of writing do you struggle with the most?

Connecting things from plot point A to plot point B, and so on. This is where writer’s block tends to come in the most.

8. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that’s been inspiring you lately.

I need background noise while I write whether that be the TV or music. I can’t have silence. But if I’m listening to music it’s either a playlist or a Taylor Swift album.

9. Do you prefer to write AU’s, canon divergence, or canon-compliant fic?

AU’s. I think I would fuck up writing anything canon, especially for Les Mis. I know for a fact that I would never get the voice/language right for writing 19th century France.

10. Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?

Plot first (I spend a lot of time thinking about it), dialogue second, and exposition third. Exposition is the hardest for me.

11. If you could only write angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your life, which would it be?

I love all three very much, but if I have to choose it would be fluff.

12. Is there a trope you haven’t written yet, but really want to?

A story about going away to war, with the love letters, and then the despair/grief when the person you love is MIA and waiting for them to hopefully come home.

13. Is there a trope you wouldn’t write if it was the last trope on earth?

I’m sure there are, but I can’t think of any right now.

14. If you were stuck on a desert island with only two character, which would you pick?

Enjolras and Grantaire, hands down.

15. A Hollywood producer tells you that they want to film just one of your fics. Which fic would you want it to be?

Enemy of Love

16. What is your most underrated fic?

I personally believe it’s Forever Was In His Eyes.

17. What fic are you most proud of?

My upcoming fic, Beating of Our One Heart, because I pushed myself out of my comfort zone.

18. What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.

The scene where Thierry appears to Enjolras as a ghost.

Commentary: This was the scene that spawned the whole story. It was always going to be Thierry that forced Enjolras to admit that he has fallen in love with Grantaire. Forcing him to come to terms that Thierry wasn’t coming back. Without this scene, the story would have been incomplete. This is the scene that is probably the turning point in the story. The point in the story where Enjolras lets go of his dead lover, and sets out to earn Grantaire’s forgiveness, love, and make up for the pain he’s caused him.

19. Who is the easiest/hardest character to write about? Why?

It’s both easy and hard to write Enjolras because my version of him is me half projecting myself on him (the easiest part to write) and the other half is making sure to get his passion for his country, people, and his activism in the story (the hardest part to write).

20. This question was originally what’s your favorite minor character you’ve written, but I’m changing it to who’s your favorite original character that you’ve created?

I have three. Casey from Begin Again. Thierry from Enemy of Love. Cameron from Beating of Our One Heart who no one, but me has met yet.

21. What is the one fic that got away?

I’m not 100% sure what this question is asking, but no fic has really ever gotten away from me.

22. Have you cried while writing a fic?

YEP! I cried writing Forever Was In His Eyes, and I still cry whenever I re-read it.

23. If you had to remix one of your own fics, which would it be and how would you remix it?

Um...I’m not really sure, tbh.

For the next few questions, I’m going to do all of my fics. To avoid spoilers, I’m leaving Beating of Our One Heart off of these lists.

24. How did you come up with title for [x fic]?

Where He Went: The title came from the book, Where She Went by Gayle Foreman (which this fic is very loosly inspired by), so I just changed the pronoun, and voila, I had my title.

Forever Was In His Eyes: This title is a lyric from the song “Cry” by Mandy Moore, but the lyric is originally “forever was in your eyes”, so once again I just changed “your” to “his” and I had my title.

The Enjolras Guide to Weddings and Love: I just took the title of the musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and changed it fit my story.

So Let the Words Slip Out of Your Mouth: A lyric from the song, “The Words” by Christina Perri.

Right Seems Wrong, Wrong Seems Right: Taken from Marius’s line in “Red and Black��.

Somethings Are Meant to Be: E and R were pre-destined mates in this story, so they were “meant to be”.

Poison and Wine: I was listening to the song of the same name from The Civil Wars, and it just seemed perfect for this story.

Enemy of Love: The title came from a quote from episode 22 of season 3 of Once Upon a Time.

I’m Falling, but Who Will Catch Me?: I had the plot planned, so I just took the plot and turned it into a title.

Wildest Dreams: The whole plot is a dream, so...I think that’s self-explanatory.

Begin Again: E and R were being united after years apart, so they are beginning again. Very cliché, but I don’t care.

Will You Love Me Tomorrow?: It took forever to come up with a title for this story, but one day I was listening to the song of the same name by Carole King, and it just seemed right.

Never Let Me Go: Grantaire is first with Christian, and then with Enjolras. One of them is abusive; the other is not. Christian is relentless in letting Grantaire go; even though it would break his heart, Enjolras would let Grantaire go if he was asked to.

25. Which idea came to you first in [x fic]?

Where He Went: the conversation on the Brooklyn Bridge, E and R were separated, and Grantaire was a musician

Forever War In His Eyes: the whole fic came at once since it’s based on A Walk to Remember.

The Enjolras Guide to Weddings and Love: I knew there was a wedding and a fake relationship, that was all.

So Let the Words Slip Out of Your Mouth: I knew Enjolras wasn’t able to say I love you, that was it.

Right Seems Right, Right Seems Wrong: I don’t really remember, but what I knew was that it contained a teacher-student relationship and a one night stand.

Somethings Are Meant to Be: E and R were mates and they were going to have a baby.

Poison and Wine: Enjolras wasn’t Grantaire’s soulmate, but they still found love in each other.

Enemy of Love: As mentioned above when Thierry came to Enjolras as a ghost.

I’m Falling, but Who Will Catch Me?: E and R going round and round in a dance of pining and feelings for many and many years.

Wildest Dreams: It was inspired by another fic, so I can’t take credit for the idea.

Begin Again: the moment Enjolras realized that the reason Grantaire left was because he was pregnant and the following conversation.

Will You Love Me Tomorrow?: Grantaire had amnesia and he and Enjolras were engaged to be married.

Never Let Me Go: Grantaire had an abusive boyfriend and needed to escape him

26. What part of [x fic] was the hardest to write?

Where He Went: keeping the elephant in the room as long as possible as E and R explored NYC.

Forever Was In His Eyes: This was easy for me to write

The Enjolras Guide to Weddings and Love: this too was easy for me to write

So Let the Words Slip Out of Your Mouth: Again easy to write.

Right Seems Wrong, Wrong Seems Right: Nothing was really hard to write, but I had to grapple with the fact that the type of relationship that is in this story was one that people, as well as myself, deem inappropriate.

Something Are Meant to Be: Not having Enjolras reveal that he loved Grantaire before he was ready.

Poison and Wine: This was pretty easy to write too

Enemy of Love: Enjolras fighting his feelings for Grantaire

I’m Falling, but Who Will Catch Me?: Making Enjolras’s reluctance to be with Grantaire because of fear, and not because he didn’t love him, believable.

Wildest Dreams: Again fairly easy

Begin Again: Again fairly easy.

Will You Love Me Tomorrow?: Keeping the dual/alternating timelines straight

Never Let Me Go: the moments when E and R tell each other of their respective abusive relationships

27. If you were ever to do a sequel to [x fic], what would happen?

*Most of these I’ve never thought about what a sequel would be, so...yeah.

Where He Went: A sequel is coming, so I can’t talk about it.

Forever Was In His Eyes: Grantaire being reunited with Enjolras in the afterlife.

The Enjolras Guide to Weddings and Love: E and R navigating the change in their relationship from friendship to romantic.

So Let the Words Slip Out of Your Mouth: They would still be together, but Enjolras still wouldn’t say “I love you” very often.

Right Seems Wrong, Wrong Seems Right: E and R navigating their relationship now that it’s not a secret anymore.

Something Are Meant to Be: Them raising their sons to the best of their ability.

Poison and Wine: Grantaire finally starting to believe that Enjolras loves him, even though they aren’t soulmates.

Enemy of Love: I have no idea.

I’m Falling, but Who Will Catch Me?: Again, no idea.

Wildest Dreams: Them in a relationship, working toward the life in Enjolras’s dream

Begin Again: A sequel one-shot collection is coming, so I can’t talk about it, either.

Will You Love Me Tomorrow?: No idea.

Never Let Me Go: The sequel for this would probably be what would happen if Enjolras’s abuser got out of jail early and him coming after Enjolras.

28. In [x-fic], what is a happy, post-fic headcanon you have about [pairing]?

*I’m leaving the ones that have definitive sequels coming off this list.

Forever Was In His Eyes: R and E getting to live together in the afterlife. Finishing up Enjolras’s bucket list with the things they couldn’t do before he died.

The Enjolras Guide to Weddings and Love: E and R going on their first date

So Let the Words Slip Out of Your Mouth: E and R having a lie-in the morning after Enjolras tells him he loves him.

Right Seems Wrong, Wrong Seems Right: This one is more takes place in the fic, but you don’t see it, E and R going to IKEA and picking out furniture for their apartment.

Somethings Are Meant to Be: Them introducing Jace to Sébastien (the new baby) that is mentioned in the epilogue of this story after Enjolras gives birth.

Poison and Wine: This one takes place in the fic before Enjolras comes home with it, Grantaire writing his name on every inch of Enjolras’s skin in Sharpie to make sure his name is somewhere on Enjolras

Enemy of Love: The morning after the fic ends, Grantaire spends it drawing Enjolras in the nude.

I’m Falling, but Who Will Catch Me?: The proposal where the promise ring becomes the engagement ring.

Wildest Dreams: Enjolras explaining to Grantaire what he saw in the dream

Will You Love Me Tomorrow?: Their honeymoon

Never Let Me Go: Grantaire finishes moving his stuff from his apartment to Enjolras, then them spending the night christening the apartment that is now officially theirs.

Since I have no word, I’m just going to choose a sentence from Beating of Our One Heart to use, but there will be NO summary.

Grantaire arrived at headquarters at 8:45 A.M. with coffee in hand, the next morning.

30. Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future.

This is a story that I already have a basic plotline for, but I want to do a Prince and the Pauper AU where Grantaire is mistaken to be a French socialite and gets swept up in the world, falling in love with Enjolras in the meantime.
