Eternity, Bang Chan - 2024 // Eternity, Arthur Stace - 1932 to 1966.

In 1932, residents all over the city of Sydney started noticing something interesting, the word “Eternity” written on the pavement or wall, over and over again. The word was seemingly written by the same person each time, in a beautiful copperplate script. The mystifying and intriguing presence of graffiti before graffiti was commonplace had Sydney residents pondering who this "Eternity man" could be. In 1956, the mystery was solved- Arthur Stace, a former soldier and alcoholic, turned man of faith, had inscribed the word over Sydney's suburbs more than half a million times between 1932 and 1966. He chose to write the word in the early hours of the morning, when few people were around, managing to keep his identity a secret for over 20 years. Something about the word eternity, written in fleeting chalk on the ever-changing city streets, seemed to compel locals- Newspaper writers published account after account speculating on the identity of this unknown man and the occasional false confession helped to maintain the air of wonder and mystery that surrounded the anonymous "Eternity man". Even after his identity had been revealed, Mr. Eternity, as he came to be dubbed, continued writing his eponymous "Eternity" across the walkways and walls of Sydney for another decade, becoming a beloved character in the city until his passing at the age of 82, in 1967. Now, nearly 60 years after the final "Eternity" by Arthur Stace was written, his message of eternity still manages to permeate the minds of Sydneysiders- becoming a representative word of the city.

I saw a YouTube short asking which one of these albums was going to win album of the year. I added Cowboy Carter to the list and was curious how you felt about these albums

How are you feeling about the election currently?

My views haven't changed. Harris's polling has stabilized such that she seems to be in a slight lead, which reflects better the other indicators like special elections and the Washington primary results. AIUI crosstabs are still kinda wonky, but in that respect I think polling now is less out of whack than before the Biden dropout (which also, I think, tells you something about how the polling has been miscalibrated this whole time). Barring a big surprise I don't expect the race to change much between now and election day. I think any systematic error in the polls underestimating Democrats is still more likely than the reverse, but I wouldn't care to speculate at this point at how large such an error may prove to be.

Found a 3oT text dump and I'm reading through it now because it's a much faster way to pick up bits I'd forgotten when I last played Trio of Towns to collect for inspiration and future bits in Earth and Rebirth.

And I just came across this gem from Ford's dialogue:

Brad and I have been friends since I first moved to Westown. He was one of the first to come up and speak to me when I arrived. In fact, he would barge into my house and leave meals on my table on a daily basis. Eventually, I caved in and began going to his restaurant instead.

And I just KNOW from the moment Brad met Ford he looked at him and immediately clocked "This man is not eating enough, and wouldn't know flavor if it bit him on the ass. I have to fix this!" and decided the best method of "fixing" that was to just casually barge into Ford's house, without invitation and I imagine actually break in once or twice, to ensure he had real food and honestly.

Gotta respect that energy.

Bet Ford only caved and started going to the restaurant because Brad's intrusions were unpredictable and happened whenever he had a few spare minutes to run a take out box of the daily special across town for Ford.

Wait, aww does dipper sometimes cook for bill? (Well saying making spicy instant noodles is cooking is a little far fetched but still)

In the Familiar AU, Dipper and Mabel basically grew up with Stan - and experienced the cooking skills thereof. When faced with choosing a life of glitter in his digestive tract, or earnest but burnt waffles, Dipper figured he might as well learn to cook. He's not winning any culinary awards or anything, but he can follow a recipe and make a decent pasta dish.

Besides. The alternative to Dipper cooking for Bill - is Bill cooking for Dipper. And since Bill's idea of delicacies involve terms like 'unholy abomination', 'unbearably spicy', or 'still squirming', Dipper's more likely than not to shove him out of the kitchen.
