Paper Carmelo Series: Meet The Characters
Tumblr media
Carmelo Cannavaro: He is the main protagonist and the titular character of the series. A carefree yet courageous youth, he is a Keyblade wielder who embarks on adventures and travels to different worlds with his team.
Goombario: He is a young Goomba who travels and goes on adventures with his friends. Full of knowledge, he can be analytical and boastful, but when the going gets tough, he is always there to help anyone in need.
Kooper: He is a blue-shelled Koopa with a passion for adventure. He is a rookie archaeologist with a bold personality. Although he can be sarcastic sometimes, he is a dependable friend who genuinely cares about those closest to him and makes an effort to spend quality time with them.
Tumblr media
Bombette: She is a pink Bob-omb buddy with a strong-willed yet friendly nature, she is eager to socialize and often appears bubbly. However, she sometimes struggles with her anger. Despite this, she genuinely wants to connect with others and hopes not to be judged based solely on her appearance.
Parakarry: He is a cyan-shelled Koopa Paratroopa who works as a mailman, delivering letters to people from near and far. Although he is sometimes described as a worrywart and can be timid, his caring nature makes up for it, as he always looks out for his friends and allies.
Lady Bow: She is a mint-colored Boo that looks like an aristocrat and has a unique style. She is confident but can be snooty and strong-willed at times. Despite this, she has a kind-hearted nature. Even though she is a "ghost" without a physical heart, she is always willing to help those in need, showing her caring spirit.
Tumblr media
Alvin Seville: He is an Eastern Chipmunk and a singer/musician who leads a trio with his brothers. He can be charming and self-centered, which sometimes makes him act impulsively. However, he is kind and friendly at heart, especially to those who are close to him.
Estevan Clark: He is a human from the same world as Carmelo. He is a warrior and swordsman with a strong sense of integrity. He stays calm and serious, but he can also be funny. No matter how tough his opponents are, he works hard to keep a sharp mind in battle.
The Mysterious Three: A trio of masked individuals operates in secrecy, with one member focused on seeking revenge against Carmelo and his friends. The other two act under the direction of their leader, who has a larger plan that goes beyond mere revenge. This dynamic suggests a deeper purpose at play, hinting at intriguing developments ahead.

DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP! The Yankees take both games of their day-night doubleheader with the Red Sox and have now tied Boston for 4th place (lol) in the AL East.
Carlos Rodon, despite allowing a leadoff home run, bounced back with a solid start tonight. Nine strikeouts over five innings of one-run ball is an outing you’ll certainly take from the left-hander right now. Really need to see him finish this season strong as he is obviously still be a huge piece to the 2024 rotation.
Estevan Florial had his first hit of the year — an RBI single to tie the game in the 5th. Jake Bauers, Gleyber Torres, and Austin Wells all added RBI’s as well.
Following Rodon was three innings of effective relief from the recently added veterans in Zach McAllister, Anthony Misiewicz, and Matt Bowman. Nick Ramirez would lock it down in the 9th for his first save this year.
Game three of this four-game set is tomorrow night at 6:05 ET. Clarke Schmidt on the bump. LETS GO YANKEES!

How Yankees’ Luke Voit is trying to put injury issues behind him
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — After battling core muscle injuries last year when he was limited to 118 games and underwent multiple MRI exams, a visit to a Philadelphia specialist has provided Luke Voit with a concrete reason why his body bothered him during the season and resulted in postseason surgery.
“He told me I tore everything down there,’’ said Voit, who had two injured list stints.
The first was in July when he suffered an abdominal strain in London against the Red Sox. He went back on the shelf later that month and stayed there until late August with a sports hernia. Voit was active but did not play in the ALDS against the Twins and was left off the ALCS roster versus the Astros.
Voit had a bloop single in three at-bats in Sunday’s 9-7 loss to the Rays at Charlotte Sports Park.
Voit, who hit 21 homers and drove in 62 runs a year ago, said he hasn’t felt this good in a long time, that he is far more athletic and has dropped five to 10 pounds.
Luke VoitGetty Images
He didn’t give Gerrit Cole a fight for the No. 45 that Voit wore the previous two seasons, but he didn’t reveal what the pitcher gave him for the swap. Voit switched to No. 59 to honor his brother, John, who wore it while playing football for West Point. John Voit is currently an Army Ranger at Fort Drum in upstate New York preparing to go overseas, according to Luke.
Aaron Boone still doesn’t have an exact date for Aaron Judge’s spring training debut in a game, but there are steps to be taken before the right fielder gets into the lineup.
First comes taking flips, working in the cage, followed by hitting outside.
“We will take it slow because of the calendar,’’ Boone said of it being late February.
In Boone’s mind, Estevan Florial’s medical history the past two years doesn’t mean the center fielder’s glow has dimmed.
“The injuries have been frustrating for him and cut into his development, no question,’’ Boone said of Florial, who went 0-for-3 Sunday. “What hasn’t been lost is he is still a special talent, still a very young man. Still feel he has a chance to be an impact player at the big-league level. It is important for him to go out and have that clean season where he [gets 400] at-bats, stays healthy and the development starts happening. It keeps getting interrupted.’’
Health hasn’t been the 22-year-old Florial’s calling card the past two seasons. He was limited to 84 games two years ago after undergoing hamate bone surgery. Last spring training he ran into the wall in center field and came away with a non-displaced fracture of the right wrist. Florial didn’t return to the field until June 3 and participated in 75 games for Single-A Tampa.
“Everything we have seen … in both spring trainings, you see the dynamic player he is capable of being,’’ Boone said.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound left-handed hitter is above average defensively, but the strikeouts (484 in 1,507 minor league at-bats with 412 hits) have to decline. Last season, he whiffed 98 times and collected 65 hits. In five minor league seasons, Florial is a .273 hitter with 42 homers, 213 RBIs and a .700 OPS.
Clarke Schmidt — who several Yankees voices believe will be a solid big-league starter, possibly as soon as next year — worked a scoreless inning. The Yankees’ No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft, who missed all of that season due to Tommy John surgery, allowed one hit and a walk in his first ever big-league spring training appearance.
Three Yankee relievers who don’t figure in the big-league plans gave up five earned runs in 2 ²/₃ innings late the game. David Hale, who started seven big-league games last season, was victimized for three runs and four hits in the second inning.

Yanks Eliminated from Postseason Contention, But Win Series
NYY vs. AZ
Game 1
RHP Luke Weaver got a second chance as a starter for the New York Yankees vs. RHP Brandon Pfaadt and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In the bottom of the third inning, RF Aaron Judge hit a three-run HR off Pfaadt, scoring LF Oswaldo Cabrera and 3B Oswald Peraza as well as Judge himself.
The Yankees took an immediate 3-0 lead against the D-backs.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, CF Estevan Florial hit an RBI 2B off Pfaadt, scoring Peraza. The Yankees extended their lead against the D-backs to 4-0.
Later during that inning, Judge hit another HR – a two-run shot – off Pfaadt, scoring himself behind Florial. The Yankees now led by 6-0 against the D-backs.
In the bottom of the seventh, Judge hit his third HR of the game – a solo HR off reliever Slade Cecconi – which added an insurance run to the Yankees’ lead. It was now 7-0 Yanks.
youtube
In the top of the ninth inning, 1B Christian Walker hit a solo HR off reliever Jhony Brito, putting the D-backs on the scoreboard. The D-backs trailed the Yankees 7-1 and lost by this score.
Weaver pitched 5.1 innings for the Yankees, giving up only four hits and no runs/earned runs. He also struck out the D-backs three times.
Game 2
LHP Carlos Rodón got the nod for the Yankees versus RHP Zac Gallen and the D-backs.
In the top of the first inning, DH Tommy Pham hit a sacrifice fly to Florial in center field off Rodón, scoring C Gabriel Moreno from third base. The D-backs led 1-0.
In the next at-bat and plate appearance, Walker also hit a sac fly – this one was to Cabrera in right field – off Rodón, scoring RF-LF Corbin Carroll. The D-back padded their lead to 2-0.
Fast forward to the top of the seventh inning, veteran 3B Evan Longoria hit a two-run RBI 1B off Rodón, scoring Pham and Walker. The D-backs extended their lead to 4-0.
In the same inning, Geraldo Perdomo hit a sac fly to LF Isiah Kiner-Falefa off reliever Randy Vásquez, scoring PR-RF Jake McCarthy. The D-backs now led 5-0.
In the top of the eighth inning, Walker grounded out to Peraza at third base and was thrown out at first base, causing Carroll to score with Vásquez still pitching. The D-backs led 6-0.
In the top of the ninth inning, Moreno hit an RBI 2B off Vásquez, scoring Perdomo. With this insurance run, the D-backs extended their lead to 7-0.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Judge as the DH in this game worked a bases-loaded walk via reliever Luis Frías, scoring PH-RF Jake Bauers.
The Yankees were now on the board and trailed the D-backs 7-1. However, this rally was short-lived and the Yanks lost by this score.
With this loss to the D-backs, the Yankees were mathematically and officially eliminated from postseason contention as an American League wild-card team.
Game 3
The Yankees looked to right the ship by winning the rubber game of this series and salvaging whatever dignity they had left since they will miss the postseason for the first time since 2016.
RHP Clarke Schmidt went on the bump for the Yankees against RHP Merrill Kelly and the D-backs.
In the top of the first inning, CF Alek Thomas hit a two-run RBI 2B off Schmidt, scoring Moreno and Walker. The D-back took a 2-0 lead.
Fast forward to the bottom of the fourth inning, C Austin Well hit a two-run HR – his second MLB career homerun – off Kelly. 2B Gleyber Torres scored as well as Wells, tying the score 2-2.
youtube
In the top of the seventh inning, Moreno hit an RBI 1B off reliever Nick Ramirez, scoring Carroll. The D-backs led 3-2.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Peraza hit a solo HR off reliever Ryan Thompson, tying the score 3-3.
In the top of the eighth inning, Carroll hit an RBI 1B off reliever Ian Hamilton. LF Lourdes Gurriel, Jr. scored and the D-backs led 4-3.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Peraza walked with the bases loaded and reliever Kevin Ginkel on the mound. Torres scored and the game was tied 4-4.
Next, Florial hit a sac fly to Carroll in left field off Ginkel, scoring Wells from third base. The Yankees took a 5-4 lead.
After that, LF Everson Pereira hit an RBI 1B off reliever Miguel Castro, scoring SS Anthony Volpe. The Yankees extended their lead to 6-4 and won by this score.
In this series-winning game against the D-backs, Schmidt pitched for four innings, so he didn’t qualify for the win. Instead, the win went to Hamilton in relief of Schmidt and company.

Clark to rep Cubs in Saturday's Fall Stars Game
The World Series may have just ended, but there's still meaningful baseball being played. The Arizona Fall League is showcasing several of the game's top prospects, and the best of those best will compete against each other in the Fall Stars Game on Saturday.
The World Series may have just ended, but there's still meaningful baseball being played. The Arizona Fall League is showcasing several of the game's top prospects, and the best of those best will compete against each other in the Fall Stars Game on Saturday.
:: 2018 Arizona Fall League Fall Stars Game ::
A dozen of MLB Pipeline's Top 100 prospects will take the field on Saturday at Surprise Stadium, the Spring Training home of the Rangers and Royals. MLB Network will broadcast the 13th annual Fall Stars Game live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. MST, and MLB.com will stream the contest live.
• Complete rosters: East | West
This year's Fall Stars Game features baseball's best prospect, Blue Jays third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and its best pitching prospect, Astros right-hander Forrest Whitley, both of whom have been spectacular in the first half of the AFL season. Guerrero, who won the Minor League regular-season batting title with a .381 average as a 19-year-old, is second in the Fall League in hitting at .458/.491/.604 and has struck out just once in 55 plate appearances. Whitley (No. 8 on the Top 100) whiffed the first seven batters he faced in his first start and tops the developmental circuit with 23 strikeouts in 17 innings.
Video: Guerrero Jr. impresses in 2018 Arizona Fall League
Each team includes six Top 100 Prospects:
West 1. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 3B, Blue Jays 30. Keston Hiura, 2B, Brewers 39. Keibert Ruiz, C, Dodgers 44. Luis Robert, OF, White Sox 45. Estevan Florial, OF, Yankees 68. Cristian Pache, OF, Braves
East 8. Forrest Whitley, RHP, Astros 17. Taylor Trammell, OF, Reds 37. Carter Kieboom, SS, Nationals 55. Andres Gimenez, SS, Mets 58. Peter Alonso, 1B, Mets 80. Jon Duplantier, RHP, D-backs
Video: Forrest Whitley on experience in the Fall League
The West could add a seventh Top 100 Prospect in Rangers outfielder Julio Pablo Martinez (No. 56). He's one of three West candidates whom fans can give the final spot on the roster via the Fall League Bowman Final Vote, along with Yankees shortstop Thairo Estrada and Orioles outfielder Ryan McKenna. For the East, fans can select from among three shortstops: Jazz Chisholm (Diamondbacks), Arquimedes Gamboa (Phillies) and Nico Hoerner (Cubs).
• Vote for the Fall Star Game's Final 2
Seven Fall Stars also played in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Nationals Park: Alonso, Gimenez, Hiura, Kieboom, Ruiz, Trammell and Padres outfielder Buddy Reed. Alonso homered in that showcase and is tied for the AFL lead with four homers with Hiura, who also has a Fall League-best 24 RBIs in 12 games.
The Fall Stars Game annually serves as a preview of coming attractions, with potential National League Rookie of the Year Ronald Acuna Jr. singling and showing off his strong outfield arm in last year's Fall Stars Game. Cody Bellinger homered in the 2016 contest, a prelude to slamming a NL rookie-record 39 homers in 2017. Gary Sanchez went deep and threw out a basestealer in 2015 before becoming the first big leaguer ever to homer 20 times in his first 51 games the next summer.

A Salvaged Win, But A Series Loss
NYY vs. TOR
Game 1
RHP Clarke Schmidt got the nod for the New York Yankees against LHP Yusei Kikuchi and the Toronto Blue Jays.
In the top of the first inning, RF George Springer hit a leadoff solo HR off Schmidt, giving the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first inning, 2B Gleyber Torres hit an RBI double off Kikuchi, scoring RF Aaron Judge. The score was tied at 1-1.
In the top of the fourth inning, 1B Cavan Biggio hit an RBI single off Schmidt, scoring SS Bo Bichette. The Blue Jays took the lead by 2-1.
In the top of the fifth inning, Bichette hit a two-run HR off Schmidt, scoring Springer and Bichette himself. The Blue Jays extended their lead to 4-1.
In the top of the ninth inning, C Alejandro Kirk hit a two-run HR off reliever Zach McAllister, scoring 3B Matt Chapman and Kirk himself. The Blue Jays’ insurance runs extended their lead to 6-1.
In the same inning, DH Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. reached first base on a fielding error by SS Anthony Volpe, which caused CF Kevin Kiermaier to score. The Jays now led by 7-1.
The final score would be 7-1 in favor of the Jays and Torres’ double proved to be the only run in this game.
Game 2
RHP Michael King – the stretched-out starter – pitched for the Yankees against RHP Kevin Gausman and the Jays.
The scoring began in the top of the third inning with Bichette hitting an RBI single off King. Kiermaier scored and the Jays struck first with a 1-0 score.
The scoring ceased until the top of the eighth inning with DH Spencer Horwitz getting a bases-loaded walk from reliever Tommy Kahnle. Springer scored and it was 2-0 Jays.
After that, 2B Whit Merrifield walked while the bases were still loaded with reliever Ian Hamilton now pitching. Biggio scored and it was 3-0 Jays.
In the top of the ninth inning, Bichette hit an RBI single off Hamilton, scoring Kiermaier. The Jays extended their lead to 4-0.
Later in that inning, Horwitz hit an RBI single off Hamilton, scoring Springer and Bichette. The Jays padded their lead even more with a score of 6-0.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, C Austin Wells hit a solo HR off reliever Erik Swanson. This was Wells’ first MLB homerun and the Yankees trailed by 6-1.
youtube
6-1 Jays would be the final score for that game. Even though King was unfairly tagged with the loss, he was dominant, striking out the Jays hitters 13 times and only giving up one earned run in seven innings.
Game 3
RHP Gerrit Cole pitched for the Yankees versus RHP José Berríos and the Jays.
In the bottom of the first inning, RF Jake Bauers hit a three-run HR off Berríos, scoring 1B DJ LeMahieu and Torres along with Bauers himself. The Yankees took a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, CF Estevan Florial hit an RBI 2B off reliever Tim Mayza, scoring 3B Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The Yankees extended their lead to 4-0.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Judge as the DH hit an RBI 2B off reliever Nate Pearson, scoring LeMahieu. The Yankees now led by 5-0.
youtube
In the top of the eighth inning, Cole threw a wild pitch, scoring Chapman from third base. The Jays were now on the scoreboard and trailed by 5-1.
In the top of the ninth inning with reliever Clay Holmes to close the game, Guerrero, Jr. grounded into a force-out causing Kiermaier to score. The Jays trailed by 5-2.
In the same inning, Chapman reached first base with a throwing error by Torres. Bichette scored and the Jays now trailed by 5-3.
However, the Jays’ rally would end right there and the Yankees won this game by the score of 5-3.
