Always a perfect and proper girl, Estela didn’t like her mermaid side at first, but a trip to Sulani helped her accept herself. She was the first Legacy to go to uni, where she learned about political activism, met Matías and his comrades and saw her world taking a 180 degrees turn.

Episode 11 ~ Narcos

Estela spent most of the tour being impressed by the place and especially my two boys. She didn’t get to properly meet them though as they were fast asleep and being a mother herself she knew better than to selfishly wake them. She’s a mother of two and once I discovered that we bonded over it. She has a boy and a girl that are around the same age as Marcos and Felipe so I think I might have found two playmates for them already.

“Like you, I mostly stay at home, but I hear you do a bit of yoga?” She said, eventually we moved off the subject of our children.

“Yes! Well, I have not done it in a while but we do have a little club going.”

“I’ve met Irene the other day actually and she was telling me all about it.”

Irene is Ian’s girlfriend and a best friend of mines. Ian is Alonso’s brother and so he’s family as well. That makes him the uncle to my boys. It’s amazing how fast a new family tree is made and the strong connections that come from it.

“She was saying I could join but that your leader is sort of obsessed with yoga,” Estela continues.

“Ah, Alejandra, Allie, as we call her. Yeah, she’s pretty strict about the yoga thing but she’s taking a break from it too because of her own pregnancy.”

“Mmmhm, that makes sense. Still, I’d be interested in joining. I guess we are all family in a way, we have to create a strong bond so that we can support each other and defend each other. We are not ordinary wives, to be sure-”

“I’m engaged so-“

“You know what I mean. These men that we are dating are dangerous people with dangerous jobs. They will need our support but more than that, our loyalty. You, me, Alejandra, and Irene, we need to be tight, we need to make sure nothing we do puts our men in danger but more than that because it isn’t just about us, right?”

“Ummm,” I smile a little nervously because I feel like I’m being scolded.

“It’s about our children too, right? After all, what happens if some one tells on Alonso? What happens if the police comes knocking on your door Ines? You might be able to slip free of guilt but he won’t, what happens to all this? What happens to your children?”

“Yea, I’ve thought about this already,” and it is a sobering thought. This is why I never dive too deep into Alonso’s line of work. The less I know, the better.

“I don’t mean to scare you or anything,” she smiles herself but even I can tell it’s more of a mask. “I just want you and the others to understand, the family always comes first. I think you believe that too, Ines, I have a really good feeling here that your priorities are where they should be. Your children and what is best for them comes first and then after that, what is best for your family, that includes all of us, Ines. If Alonso goes down it likely means my husband goes down with him.”

Well, she’s made her point very clear but she’s right. We are all tied into this thing together now. This reminds me that perhaps we should be very very selective about who joins our yoga club and also scrutinize whose still in it. There has been one member who has been asking a lot of suspicious questions lately…

She is the daughter of a bullring president over at Seville; the same one Querardo's father has performed for a huge chunk of his life. Like an eagle in the sky, the president's duty is to look from above at the whole spectacle in the ring, and be able to determine the fate of both the bullfighter (By choosing whose awards to give them) and the bull itself (By choosing to spare its life -'Indulto'- or not). Like little Que admired his father since childhood, young Es has often daydreamt to take over her father's position when older. However unlike Naval she never developed any second thoughts, in fact her goal is still clearer than ever.

Estela and Querardo, although separated, did have some interactions in previous trips from Navarre to Seville. Their relationship had always been in decent terms, although both León and Es' father have joked many times about their children marrying as adults. Hell, in many occasions it had been remarked to Querardo over and over again how much of a "perfect bride" Estela could be for him. I mean, she has a fine appearance, she's clever, has good reflexes, and overall supportive of future matador Que. Add to this some slight feelings he actually had for her on the past, and you got a perfect couple. Or so it seems.

Although Querardo admits Estela is pretty, truth is he has been losing interest on her for a long time. In fact, his ever growing conflicting feelings for bullfighting as a whole also have affected his view on her for the worse. Estela is aware of this, but she isn't willing to accept it. Within Querardo, she sees a great matador inside, a man that could even surpass the legacy that other famous figures left behind. For him to leave it all, just because he can't bring himself to finish the bull... How dare he!?

...I'll actually confess that while I do like what I wrote with Estela, I actually have NO idea if she'd be part of the line of events I've written with Red Matador's story. I have a lot of mixed feelings about adding her to the plot, and even more with the ideals she represents 🫤 Nonetheless, I'll confess that I like her as a little drama machine. That's why I wanted to briefly talk about her despite her irrelevance </3

An idea that I had for her though was that she could be a manager for RM; being sent to Liocott due to her superb observation skills. But I'm not sold yet. Then again, Episode 102 made us clear that the spanish most likely don't have any managers around... Sad 😭

Bonus, more art. Reusing a discarded WIP since I cannot draw much. Her eye shapes are heavily based on the picrew image above; I just really like how they look on her. Though there's still things I'm not determined on her design, such as her hair color (either red or almost fuchsia) and texture.

Fun fact, but her flower is loosely based on the Carnation, one of Spain's national symbols.

Mariette Lydis (1887–1970) was an Austrian-Argentine painter. Lydis was born in Vienna, Austria on August 24, 1887, under the name Marietta Ronsperger.

She was the third child of Jewish merchants, and the sister of Edith Ronsperger, creator of Opera books who later died by suicide...

At the end of the 30s she escaped Paris and the ensuing Nazi roundup of Jews to be briefly in England and from 1940 in Argentina.

From 1940 until her death in 1970 she lived in Argentina, with her partner Erica Marx.

Lydis lived openly as bisexual.

She is best known for her book illustrations and paintings. Mariette died on April 26, 1970, and rests in the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires.

LEGACY

Mariette Lydis operated a workshop where she trained future artists including Estela Pereda.

Her work was included in the 2019 exhibition City Of Women: Female artists in Vienna from 1900 to 1938 at the Austrian Gallery Belvedere (Österreichische Galerie Belvedere). via Wikipedia

Quarter-Finals will take place at Yamato Arena, Osaka, on Monday July 15

The eagerly awaited return of Prizefighter has officially been confirmed for Monday, July 15 – shown live on DAZN (excluding Asia).   The Quarter-Finals of the tournament will be held at Osaka’s Yamato Arena with WBC-OPBF Middleweight Champion Kuzuto Takesako replacing Anauel Ngamissengue in the line-up.    Japan’s knockout artist Takesako (16-2-1, 15 KOs) will be boxing in front of his home fans in his native Osaka when he collides with Britain’s Mark Dickinson (6-0, 2 KOs).   The Japanese Middleweight Title will be on the line too in an exciting rematch as Japan’s all-action. (WIP) Prism Legacy, S1E1 Preview

Fandom: Choices: Stories You Play multi-book crossover (Endless Summer, Hero, The Elementalists, High School Story)

Pairings: All CIU pairings, plus: Olivia (F!MC) x Emma, Jordan (M!MC) x Maria, Priya (F!MC) x Caleb

Genre: High School, Slice-of-life, Sci-fi/Fantasy, Adventure

Note: The latest project I've decided to start in my CIU adventure! Set about 20 years post-Convergence, this is a loose adaptation of High School Story starring the children of the main story's heroes as they navigate Berry High. It will be done in a TV-show format, so a little different from my movie scripts. This is a brief preview from the first "episode." Enjoy!

As for who's who: Olivia is Estela and Ian (ES!MC)'s daughter (who we have met as a child earlier), while Jordan is Eva and Sasha (Hero!MC)'s son. This preview takes place on Olivia's first day as a transfer student to Berry High, as she is forced to introduce herself to the class...

OLIVIA (nervously): Uh... well, I’m Olivia Czasa. Yes, that ‘Czasa.’ I... uh, I guess my favorite subject is probably Literature, unless lunch counts?

She laughs weakly at her own joke. A few other students laugh along with her, most prominently a young man around her age, JORDAN ESPERANZA-STEVENS, sitting near the middle of the classroom.

JORDAN (loudly): Lunch is the best, am I right?

A few of the students around him laugh harder. He smiles and winks at Olivia, who continues:

OLIVIA: Fun fact about myself? Uh... well... you all probably guessed this already, but yes, I do have my dad’s powers. And no, I’m not gonna demonstrate. Okay?

Some of the students clap as Olivia tries to take a seat at one of the desks. The others all start shouting:

RANDOM STUDENT 1: Wait! Do a trick!

RANDOM STUDENT 2 (simultaneously): You’re, what, the Granddaughter of Time?

RANDOM STUDENT 3: Show us what you can do!

RANDOM STUDENT 4 (simultaneously): Give us a demonstration!

A red-headed boy with a smarmy expression, BRIAN CRANDALL, stands up from his desk and starts chanting:

BRIAN: De-mon-strate! De-mon-strate!

Most of the other students quickly join in on his chant. Even Ms. Maddox does a brief happy dance at the idea while Olivia grows visibly more and more uncomfortable.

MS. MADDOX: That would be excellent. Our classroom would surely enjoy a demonstration of your time abilities--

A shimmering golden outline surrounds Jordan, and a moment later, he has teleported in front of Olivia, standing in front of the class for all to see. He strikes a pose dramatically.

JORDAN: Ta-da! Did somebody ask for a Prism demonstration?

MS. MADDOX (exasperated): Jordan, we have all seen what you can do--

JORDAN: Sha-zam!

He thrusts an arm out, teleporting one student’s tablet to above his head, then catching it in a Prism field and sending it floating gently back on to his desk.

JORDAN: Ka-pow!

He teleports himself to several feet in the air, near the ceiling; a field of Prismic energy keeps him suspended where he is. A few of the students whoop, and several others burst into applause.

RANDOM STUDENT 1: Yeah!

MULTIPLE STUDENTS (chanting): Jor-dan! Jor-dan! Jor-dan!

JORDAN: And now, Ms. Maddox...

With a flash, he teleports himself back to the ground, in front of Olivia. He turns and whispers to her:

JORDAN (whispering): Might wanna take a seat.

Olivia nods gratefully as she starts to sneak toward the desks while everyone is distracted. Jordan turns and approaches Ms. Maddox’s desk, then crouches to lift it up effortlessly.

JORDAN: I’d say your desk could use a ‘lift!’

I am actually pretty happy to have Estela around here because she’s proving to be a fast friend. We just have so much in common when you think about it and she could be like a sister to me! For her, family is the most important thing and since I didn’t have much family growing up it is nice that I’m marrying into such a large and quite frankly successful one.

“I really should bring my two over, have the kids all meet,” she’s talking about her little guy and little gal. I don’t quite remember the names. “Jose and Doria!”

“I am so eager to meet them both but I admit to being a little nervous-”

“Oh your boys are sweet, I’m sure it’ll be fine.”

“I’m a little jealous too, I’ve always wanted a daughter and from what you’ve shown of Doria it makes me want one even more.”

She eyes my belly at that and grins. “I say give it a go until you get one!”

And I can’t help but laugh at that. “The house is big enough I suppose but honestly the whole thing is exhausting.”

“I told Felix two was it and he can’t touch me unless precautions are taken before hand.”

“I think after this one I’ll be making the same rule with Alonso! By the time one of mines says their first word I’m already buying another crib for a new one at this pace,” I say jokingly but I’m pretty serious at this point. Three children, that’s enough. Actually, maybe one more if this one is a boy...

Ha pasado un año desde que el nuevo Hotel Transilvania abrió, todo va de maravilla, muchos monstruos han llegado de todo el mundo, con Mavis y Jonathan como los nuevos dueños del hotel. Drac y Ericka se habían ido de viaje por un año, y ahora regresaban para su boda. Un año de planeación, no porque Drac lo hubiera decidido, si no fue por parte de Ericka, quería que Drac conociera el mundo. Y así fue, recorrieron gran parte de Asia. Y pasaron un buen tiempo en Japón, conocieron la nieve de sus montañas, allá donde el sol no sale en invierno y las nubes lo cubren. También viajaron a América, y regresaron de nuevo a Brasil. Todos en el hotel estaban sorprendidos del tiempo que tardaron en casarse. La manada estaba entusiasmada, iban a ver a su mejor amigo contraer nupcias con alguien quien primero quería matarlos y ahora estaba al cien por ciento de su lado. Cuando llegaron estacionaron el dirigible cerca del lago, y ambos fueron hasta el hotel, en la entrada principal su hija, su yerno y su nieto los esperaban con gran alegría. Después de ponerse al tanto del viaje ambos fueron llevados hasta su dormitorio. Una habitación super amplia. Mavis llegó para asistir a Ericka y pronto se le unieron las demás chicas. Para Drac la manada fue quien se encargaron de todo. En la habitación, ya era la hora de la verdad, Mavis estaba a solas con Ericka, Ericka se veía en el gran espejo y Mavis quien estaba a un costado la veía con una gran sonrisa.

- ¡Mírate! Me recuerdas a mí el día de mi boda con Jhony. Espero que el ser parte de esta familia te llene de orgullo como yo lo siento al verte con papá.

- Y el mío es el mas grande Mavis. – dice Ericka, pero al volver a ver su reflejo una pequeña estela de tristeza se le dibujo, al recordar que ella que al igual que Mavis su madre no estaba allí.

- Vamos Ericka es hora. – dice Mavis.

Drac estaba en el mismo lugar donde Jhony estuvo una vez. Para este día especial cambió sus ropas casi en su totalidad. Un traje de color morado profundo con una camisa blanca y un chaleco del color de su pijama, su corbata negra favorita, su clásico pantalón negro al igual que sus zapatos y no podía faltar su capa.

Ericka apareció en la puerta nupcial y toda la atención pasó a ella en un abrir y cerrar de ojos.

Su hermoso velo blanco sostenido por una diadema a cuentas de oro lucia sobre su cabello. Su hermoso vestido blanco como la nieve en straple, con un cintó estilo faja que resaltaba en color plata y dorado caía en doble cola a sus costados. Y sus zapatillas en un color blanco a juego con su vestido. En su muñeca un brazalete de oro con su nombre que su bisabuelo le regaló. De hecho el vestido y todo fue obsequiado por su bisabuelo, algo curioso ya que cuando era joven, lo único que le había obsequiado eran libros y armas.

Cuando llegó hasta donde estaba Drac nunca dejó de mirarle a los ojos, la ceremonia transcurrió de lo más lindo. Mavis estaba tan feliz por su padre, después de tantos años solo, por fin había regresado el amor a él.

El que estaba oficiando la boda era Blobby ya todo un crack oficializando las bodas. Fue hasta que pidió que ambos dijeran sus votos. Pidiendo a Drac que fuera el primero.

Drac volteó a verla y tomándola de sus manos, para luego regalarle una sonrisa pura.

—Ericka Van Helsing, hoy en este día quiero que sepas que…

Me alegro de haber encontrado esto contigo.

Todos ustedes, me ayudaron a encontrar mi corazón.

Antes ni siquiera sabía mi nombre y me cegó la oscuridad.

Y De un río a una inundación, A la luz mientras cae la noche, Veo amor a mi alrededor, un amor que he encontrado en la luz de tu mirada.

Drac termina y muchos de los presentes, en especial las feminas comienzan a lagrimiar por tan dulces palabras, Ericka se le salen las lágrimas y Drac le limpia.

Ahora es el turno de Ericka.

Controlándose en lo bello que le acaba de decir Drac, toma una fuerte bocanada de aire y luego la suelta para recuperarse.

Luego lo mira a los ojos y comienza a decir sus votos.

— Amas esa canción pillin, y se que la has tomado como un himno a nuestro amor. Así que Conde Drácula, hoy en este día, quiero que sepas que todo lo que he aprendido sobre ti en toda mi vida es completamente falso, tú me enseñaste a dejar en claro eso, y por ti dejé mi vieja yo en el pasado. Y quiero que sepas que…

Yo iba navegando sola por el mar,

Pensando, "Dios, ¡qué complicado es esto del amor!". La noche se me hizo día, pero no se fue la luna, ella Se quedó a vernos y apoyada en el hombro del sol, Alúmbrales con fuerza, brilla todo el día. Y, cuando llegue la noche, ella sellará nuestra pasión.

Fuimos Dos extraños bailando bajo la luna,

Y nos convertimos en amantes al compás,

De esa extraña melodía que algunos llaman destino Y otros prefieren llamar casualidad.

Yo prefiero llamarlo Destino.

Nuestras vidas se entrelazaron en un hermoso destino. Y ahora tu y yo en este momento haremos que el amor que nació entre los dos sea aún más fuerte. Para protegerte y proteger a mi nueva familia.

Drac quedó sin palabras. Un semblante de abrumado por tan bellas palabras revoloteaban en su corazón. Miró a Blobby y este comprendió que debía seguir.

Blobby dice que los padrinos de anillos se presenten, Frank su amigo del alma aparece con los anillos en una cajita de madera negra con felpa roja en su interior y se divisan dos anillos color oro. El anillo de Drac tiene escrito en su interior

I lͦoͭvͯeⷥ yͫoⷥuͬ Erͣiͤcⷨkⷦaͦ.

Mientras que en el interior del otro anillo decía:

I lͣoͨvͩeⷮ yͤoⷮuͮ Drⷡaⷬcⷥuⷬlͬaͣ.

Drac toma el anillo de Ericka y se lo coloca en su dedo y finaliza con un TÉ AMO. Luego Ericka toma el anillo y lo coloca en el dedo de Drac y finaliza con un TÉ AMO.

Blobby dice las últimas palabras y el beso final que simboliza el sello de matrimonio se da.

Drac toma a Ericka y recrea una de las poses más famosas llamada “El Beso”.

Todos aplauden y celebran la unión de ambos. Denis corre con su abuelo y lo felicita, todos comienzan a acercarse para felicitarlos, después se dirigen a la fiesta.

Al estar en la boda llega la hora del brindis, Mavis se levanta de su asiento y pide la palabra. Su padre la mira y le regala una sonrisa.

Mavis toma el micrófono y levita para luego quedar enfrente de la pareja.

— Padre. Ahora que te miro veo que has cambiado mucho en todos estos años. Siempre estuviste para mi en todo momento, vi tu evolución, de odiar y temerle a los humanos, luego pasando por la aceptación hasta al grado de amarlos.

Nunca pensé verte con alguien aparte de mamá, y se que ella no hubiese querido que estuvieras en las sombras. Y como dijo Ericka, el destino los unió para llevar un capituló nuevo en sus vidas. Ericka me alegro que estes como parte de nuestra familia. Al igual que tu bisabuelo. Me enorgullece verlos hoy juntos. — termina Mavis y vuela para abrazarlos.

Luego Frank se levanta y grita a todo pulmón.

— POR DRÁCULA Y ERICKA!

HECHALE A LA MÚSICA BLOBBY!

Todos gritan ¡viva! Por la pareja y Blobby pone la rola y complace a una petición que Drac le había hecho antes, y se escucha la rola de Drac I SEE LOVE, todos toman a su pareja y bailan.

Drac toma a Ericka y la levita entre la multitud al compás de las líneas de la canción. Ericka no puede acostumbrarse a ello. Termina la canción y vuelven a dónde empezaron uniéndose sus frentes.

Después de eso todos aplauden y Drac dice que sigan disfrutando de la fiesta.

Luego Mavis se acerca a ellos y pide hablar con Ericka.

— y eso mi tlacuachita que deseas hablar con ella?— pregunta curioso.

—déjala Gordo. Vamos Mavis soy toda tuya. — dice y ambas se retiran hacia él área de la mesa de postres.

En eso Abraham se acerca a Drácula y lo mira seriamente.

— Drácula, podemos hablar en privado un momento.

Drac lo mira y asiente, ambos salen al área de la alberca y Drac es el primero en hablar.

— muy bien Van Helsing que quieres ahora? — le pregunta intrigado.

— Drácula, solo quiero decirte que… hemos pasado mucho en todo este tiempo. Y aún sigo disculpándome por haber causado problemas hace un año. Pero quiero que sepas que todo ese odio quedó atrás. Y aunque mis disculpas no llenen los huecos que he hecho mis disculpas son sinceras. Y solo quiero que me prometas a mi que cuidarás de mi bisnieta. Quiero que me jures a mi que la protegerás cuando llegue a faltar yo. — termina de hablar el viejo.

Drácula lo observa y mira que su actitud y presencia se siente diferente a todo lo que ha sentido anteriormente.

— Lo prometo Abraham. Te prometo que ella estará bien. — termina su respuesta y le coloca una mano en lo que alguna vez fue un hombro.

Abraham le sonríe, sabe que su enemistad terminó cuando Drácula le salvó la vida. Pero ahora aceptaba que todo lo que aprendió en su vida había sido la verdad a medias.

Aún dentro en la fiesta Ericka y Mavis siguen hablando.

— espero que este regalo les guste. Y no se preocupen, todo el itinerario lo escogió Jhony, así que seguro lo van amar.

— Eso no lo pongo en duda Mavis. Y Mavis… gracias por todo. — le dice y la abraza.

Todos vuelven a la fiesta, en la pista de baile hay un caos de diversión y todo mundo está como loco. Entonces mientras todos están despistados y en sus cosas Drac jala a Ericka y se escabullen entre la multitud para tomar las escaleras a un lado del asensor.

— ven vamos… hoy hay luna llena. Vamos a verla. — dice Drac pícaramente. Ericka ríe en complicidad.

Drac la toca en brazos y sube a toda velocidad. Ericka siente el tirón mientras cierra los ojos por la fuerza de la velocidad al subir.

Drac la baja y luego salen corriéndo hasta llegar al cuarto que da al ventanal por donde salieron la misma noche que le pidió matrimonio.

Drac la dirige y la sienta y él se coloca detrás de ella. La abraza y le da un fuerte beso en su mejilla. Ericka suelta risitas.

— oh estate Drac me haces cosquillas — dice mientras sigue riendo.

Ambos se toman una actitud seria mientras se miran a los ojos perdidos.

Drac la toma del rostro y luego la gira y la recuesta sobre las tejas y la besa apasionadamente.

— Te Amo Ericka Van Helsing y me haces el monstruo más feliz. Llegaste para quedarte. Gracias por todo. — le ha dicho en voz baja en su oído.

Luego Ericka lo mira a los ojos y le responde suave y dulce.

— ay Drac! Eres un durazno suave y aterciopelado cuando hablas — termina y lo besa.

Pero no se da cuenta que Drac se quedó serio por un momento.

Ella se separa y observa que se ha quedado pensativo.

— sucede algo Gordo? Te pusiste serio. —.

Drac ha tenido un dejavú muy raro. Ha sentido que esa frase se la han dicho pero no logra traerla en su totalidad. Ericka lo toma del rostro y vuelve a hablarle para sacarlo de su trance.

Drac vuelve en si y deja de lado ese efímero pensamiento y le sonríe y luego le devuelve ese beso.

La luz de la luna llena se hace presente cuando una nube solitaria empieza a alejarse por la leve brisa que se siente.

Drac le coloca su saco sobre los hombros de su amada y luego ambos se recuestan para observar la hermosa luna qué hay.

El color dorado es tan bello que los hipnotiza tanto a Ericka como a Drac.

Después de una hora de estar platicando Jhony se asoma por la ventana, les avisa que bajen para partir el pastel y que ya era hora de servir la comida.

Drac le dice que enseguida bajan y Jhony se retira.

El resto de la velada fue pura fiesta hasta casi amaneciendo. Los que vinieron a la fiesta se retiraron y los demás que estaban hospedados se fueron a sus habitaciones.

Y así fue la boda que ellos tanto habían pospuesto.

This Sunday, as sisters Estela and Candi Reyes mark Father's Day, they will be thinking of their dad, Juan, who died in 2010.

Juan Reyes was born in Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. in the 1940s, eventually settling his family in El Paso, Texas. Estela, 50, and Candi, 46, adored their dad, and at StoryCorps in 2012, they recall the lasting influence he had on them.

"Papito era lo máximo," Estela said. "He was everything to us."
