I did get the disclaimer and I think I perfectly understood what you were saying but my point is you listed a number of things which taekook or Tae does that look like what queer people do and listed another number of things that they do or say which makes people call them straight. So u were trying to say that even though Tae or taekook do all these things which could point to them being queer people ignore it and focus on the other things just to call them straight right? I'm inside my own head and I still haven't worked out all the complexities of my own sexuality. So I just say I'm queer because I think that's a great umbrella term. But the first passage I pulled from your ask shows even you think there are things on that list that miiiiiight point to someone maaaaybe being queer. Or not. Or maybe, they might. And if so we agree on that point. I'm a Taekooker, and this is a Taekook blog. I think based on what I know that they are together and therefore queer. But they might not be. Just to be clear: I have seen 20 minutes one end and 30 minutes the other. 40 mins in the middle was school run.

I read it as banter that is a hangover from a time when perhaps they were more engaged in fanservice. (That's fanservice in the context of k-pop where everyone does it and it's not a criticism.)

Ok so I think we need to just assume Jimin was mistaken? Like in the same breath he realises he was mistaken so let's just take that as it is. It does us no favours to discredit him when he's literally there saying he was wrong.

Because what you'd have to believe for this to be conscious shipper feeding is that Jimin made that trip up and I actually don't think anything is made up. I think certain details are amplified, certain angles are shown, certain pictures emerge. Like, for example, Yoongi being with Jimin either in person - there's evidence to suggest in person - or on the phone on Billboard Hot 100 Dynamite night but it evolving into "I was with Jungkook."

It's twisty but I don't think it's point blank lying.

The problem is the shippers who aren't activating their critical thinking and running with the idea that Jimin was hanging out with JK's friends without him and that means they're married.

Assuming this trip was one event, 7 years prior to 2023 was 2016. Didn't JK first start hanging out with his 97 Liners in 2016? So when he says JKs friends... yeah sure, in retrospect they're his close friends but possibly less of an established relationship in 2016, no?

Taekook moment: I feel like hanging out with Tae's best friends of 7 years when you're in your mid 20s and they're in their 30s is a super different vibe to a bunch of idols hanging out in their youth but I am biased and can't be trusted. haha. And less said about it being snowboarding the better really. 🤐

I did see this bit. I think that's just Jimin and the shirtlessness is just secondary. I don't think it's particular to JK. Whether or not JK is that happy to be touched depends on the moment, it seems.

The whole show has an awkward vibe of being a hangover from people they no longer are. It was my opinion after NYC, it was my opinion for Jeju and it remains my opinion now.

i agree about BV, ITS, Run BTS being minly bts’ way of promoting themselves without having to go to other variety shows, but their way of promoting IS showcasing and strengthening the members’ bonds. the staff even said it themselves whenever they paired them or put them in specific units to do activities together, they chose the pairs/units based on which members they thought needed some bonding time. it's why they paired taegi and namseok in the first place. they also sometimes pair members based on their dynamic and how well it'll fit with the assigned activity, eg yoonjin and fishing.

the point is, the taekook ITS talk doesn't really strike me as anything special or weird or whatever. jungkook and taehyung obviously have different personalities than namjoon, hobi or yoongi; and they share a different dynamic, so their way of working out their awkwardness/issues was expectedly different than how namseok or taegi went about it. jungkook is an introvert who avoids confrontation, and tae is an extrovert who doesn't like to leave things unsaid. tae tricking asking him to join him for a drink and talk because jungkook himself wouldn't initiate it is pretty normal.

I mean, you kinda realize yourself that staff pairs up certain duos for different purposes.. that too is manipulation. I don’t think the members’s strong bond comes from what they have done in official content, I think their strong bond comes from what they have go e through collectively, from how they manage themselves as a group and not how staff manages them as a group. Sure BV, ITS, and Run are great for experiencing things and cultures, but I think nothing has made more of an impact on them as much as just being BTS and touring, and recording, and dealing with fandom, and dealing with pressure, and discussing breaking up, has. Real, daily life struggles and successes are what forms bonds the most imo.. and not bungeejumping, or walking around in Malta together (though I’m sure they look back at those memories with great feelings). Members don’t just talk and bond on official content, they do that all the time when being together.. most times not on official content probably.

If Tae and Jk really had had those struggles I’d think Tae would have talked to Jk about it in private, and not jump it on him knowing it would have been filmed. Tae knows Jk. The thing Tae adressed in ITS was Jk having called him to go out for a drink and them not having had time. Tae, did not actually go into them drifting apart and things feeling awkward. Without the editing of Jk’s solo interview, that conversation would have had a different meaning. Which means it’s manipulated.

Now tell me that's not a whole different vibe. Tae mentioning "it's nothing serious", just wanting to have a drink together finally, having been busy. They're reminiscing about their time as trainees.. don't even talk about the time after debut really. Imo this conversation was intended to establish them as normal friends, close but with a normal distance. I think, without the solo Jk stuff, it looks as though Jk called Tae to hang out, like normal friends would recah out to each other. Jk immediately switching the convo to them as trainees also fits with the "we're friends" part, not with the we've been distant part that has not been brought up. They'r pushing the "we're friends with a healthy distance, what you saw of us before was our special patners-in-crime-got-scolded-together-vibe". Nothing about having been distant or awkward. At the end Tae says: 'we'd have hung out together a lot more' after which he looks straight at the camera (mission accomplished?).

The twist is Jk's interview. Because that is what makes it look like them having been distant and awkward. It was a delibarate choice to add that throughout their conversation. It was manipulative. Jk's part even came with a forshadowing of what we were going to see from then on. 'Worked things through. Things are back to how they used to be, but not quite" (at that point he wouldn't have even known if thing were back to how they used to be).

I am a pjm and I haven’t had time to go through your blog so I don’t know if you’re an anti- jm but I might do that later. That being said I don’t believe any bts ship is real but this taennie issue got me curious because I want to see how both sides of shippers are reacting to it. I will say, the two biggest ships in bts both include Jungkook, and sometimes there can be a rivalry between the shippers among the more immature fans. In regards to Jimin getting hate from tkkrs, I'm well aware that must happen, and I hate that it does. I truly wish we could ban all toxic fans who spread hate and bitterness. Jimin doesn't deserve anything but love and respect. All the members do. I've seen tkkrs hating on Jimin, and I've seen jkkers hating on Taehyung, let's not forget it goes both ways. The lives do seem somewhat planned. Not in terms of content, but in general the lives on the whole. So to answer the other anon who talks about the house in JK's lives, it is probably a plan to expose that as the place as the one he lives. On one hand normalise his outings/sightings with Tae and on the other establish that they live separately. They are close friends who hang out but just friends kinda narrative. This gives them the freedom to be with each other, have a normal life in general and also the cover needed in conservative SK.

Exactly, this makes perfect sense to me. I've always thought every Live a member does have to be planned, not least to monitor bandwidth and where there are any issues, and considering there were up 15 million people watching JK last time, is good to consider. Additionally, the fact that Tae (and other members in other lives) joined in the comments, normalises their interactions, even though they sometimes come off as flirtatious at times. Either way, I would not be surprised to discover this is the whole point of JK's constant live streaming. Also, watch Weverse soon have shared live streams where we get Taekook live streaming together from different locations, as Tae 'predicted' after their Insta-live.

Hey, so I saw this post screenshotted on Twitter and being discussed among some Jikookers who are not fond of Tae and I realized something. I think your a safe space for the Jikookers who don’t like Tae but don’t want to publicly mingle with known fandom ‘Tae antis’ or criticize him in a way that would get them cancelled. I know you aren’t a shipping blog and your reasons for not liking Tae are not exactly the same as theirs but I feel like there are these in between Jikookers (they wouldn’t fit in with full blown Tae antis but they are not OT7 either) who find some relief in your blog. Most Jikook blogs here are OT7 and would never tolerate any negative asks about Tae so it seems to me like they’ve found some form of comfort in your words because your blog is not labelled as an anti but at the same time you have no issue sharing your strong opinions on things you don’t like about the boys. I don’t know if I’m making any sense but I’m trying to say that even though you aren’t a shipping blog, many Jikookers seem to be attracted to your blog because you speak favourably about Jimin and Jungkook, you sometimes entertain carefully worded shipping asks, you sometimes clown Taekookers and you aren’t afraid to speak negatively on Tae, all this without being seen as an anti by the vast majority of people on Tumblr. This is basically what the Jikookers I saw on Twitter were saying about your blog.

Please don't get this the wrong way, I'm aware of what the internet is capable of doing in online discourse, but my blog is not a safe space. That term was coined for minorities who actually need it. Sharing some opinions about BTS does not require a safe space. I just want to be clear from the start. I fully understand what you actually mean, but before we're going further, it's best to establish accurately what this place is.

I am aware jikook shipping blogs follow me and I guess some twitter jikookers pay attention. I see the thumbnail photo. I don't think they are a majority, but since I do talk about JM and JK (even from a non-shipping perspective), my posts are in their area of interest, so to speak. Do I know what each and everyone believes about the BTS members and Tae? Nope. I don't check, I don't care. I've said it before, everyone is welcomed here as long as they act reasonable within the parameters of this fandom.

Your description of how my blog is regarded is something that I don't think about. I have no idea what reach it has, let alone to those on twitter. I run a small blog. Definitely smaller than the shipping ones. I see the numbers in notes. I am nowhere near that and that's fine for me. More than fine, actually. With the type of platform such as tumblr, is difficult to know exactly where one is situated within a specific space. All that you described is new to me. I had no idea. And I also thought I'm some certified anti anyway, so I can do and say what I want.

I've been seeing bts related blogs long before I made this one. And I know the ot7 jikook shipping blogs. It's hard not to come across them when my focus has always been on JM and JK. I know they don't tolerate any sort of negative talk. That's their policy and their own space. I don't subscribe to that mentality, but that's me. I believe that being open and more truthful is better. Some of them are actual ot7s, while others not so much. But when you have a high engagement, you don't wanna lose that. Tumblr may not show the number of followers, but if you look at the notes, you can easily figure out the type of influence they have. The space is sort of monopolized, compared to what I used to see in early 2020. A lot has changed. So I can see why others use my blog to talk openly because I allow that. I don't tell people what to think. I want them to do that for themselves. And I don't discriminate instantly. I had perfectly reasonable talks with RM fans, Tae lovers, taekookers, yoonminers, jikookers. I've been blocked by jikookers and called out by pjms and jjks at the same time, which is so ironic.

All in all, we should remember that at the end of the day, we're nothing but a bunch of fans talking daily about men. It's enough coming to terms about that, fighting over it is next level waste of time.

Hi everyone, I see all your asks and will get to them in the next few days. 💜 Be patient with me. Lately I’ve been super busy with work and life and will be traveling for most of today and tomorrow. Once I’m settled at my destination and have closed the deal, I’ll finally be able to have more time for Tumblr. I’ll respond fully when I can, but to quickly answer some now:

- Yes, I caught snippets of J-Hope’s performance at MAMA and it looks like he did really well. I’ll watch the full thing soon.

- Yes, I heard about how ARMYs forced first the AMAs and now Spotify to do the right thing. The way the media establishment has always treated BTS needs to be studied and I reckon is about 60% of the reason why the BTS fandom is the way it is.

- I’m listening to Indigo right now (for the 9th time or so since release) while on my way to the airport and I really like it. It’s the sort of sound I was expecting from Joon and every collaboration delivered as close to perfection as is possible with that sound. I do have some problems with it though (lol), and I wish Joon tried out more genres but overall, it’s an absolutely solid first instalment given; the sound, lyrics, production quality, performance potential, etc. I’m seeing it’s also doing very well critically as several music critics just seem wowed by it.

- The deleted Reddit thread is yet the latest example of the same tired old conspiracy theories k-pop stans use to cope with the idea of BTS and ARMYs. It could give taekooker theories a run for their money. Those theories haven’t changed in years and they get a sort of renaissance every 2 years or so with every new wave of entrants into k-pop spaces, ironically a wave that’s primarily driven by BTS’s musical reach.

- For the people who sent in asks recently highlighting their concerns with New Jeans treatment from k-pop stans after noticing more similarities after MAMA, I meant what I said when I asked those who were curious to pay very close attention to how k-pop stans and the wider k-pop establishment treats New Jeans, because I saw some similarities with the response to BTS 9 years ago. Yes I think the reception to the group is predictable given what that group seems to represent. But your eyes aren’t lying to you, what you’re seeing is really happening and yes k-pop stans have done that and significantly more. But the girls will be fine.

What's your opinion on jkk enlisting together? For me, it's just that they wanted to be able to support each other. I think neither was ok with the fact that they had to enlist and being together probably brings some comfort. Jm seems to take JK side a few times before and he said himself that he sees JK similarly to his rl brother. In my fanfic head, Tae messed up and keeps hyping JK in an attempt to make things better between them. All I see since ~2020/21 is them having some kind of tension, and maybe a fwb dynamic, but with some discomfort about their rs and where they stand.

I think saying they wanted to support each other is fair. I just don't agree with framing it as Jungkook choosing it because- cue all the Taekooker excuses. As we've already established nothing was stopping Taekook from using the buddy system and none of them needed to use the buddy system either. Even in my peak Taekooker phase I never really had an explanation for why Jikook is promoted and this enlistment thing is an extension of that. I guess, I'll just have to conclude that Jikook prefer each other🤷🏻‍♀️. This isn't me saying they are a couple though, maybe there was a Busan Bros offer at the buddy system counter, Idk, so let's...not lol.

Hoseok lightly drummed his fingers along the steering wheel as Taehyung vaguely guided him down some streets, making a note of the road and complex’s names that he needed to look out for.  

Taehyung had already made a weak explanation - that had sounded vaguely apologetic and shy - about the size and area of his apartment. Apparently two university students - one studying at an expensive, unique magic academy and the other supposedly starting his freshman year - weren’t  rolling in cash. What a tremendous surprise. 

Hoseok wasn’t even fazed when Taehyung had mentioned it, in fact, he was more surprised when they’d finally pulled up to the place and it seemed better than what he’d been living in for his years of studying. 

The building, while extremely plain and repetitive, looked clean and sturdy with 8 stories and  what looked as if there was a spot for gardening if the entire area wasn’t covered in a layer of snow. There was even a decent fire escape and great parking space. Hoseok wasn’t even sure why Taehyung would be embarrassed about staying here.

“This home?”

“Ye’hh.. He’ERSHHEW… H’EESHH!” Taehyung snapped into his hands, tissues at the ready. 

“ ‘Ye’ is enough confirmation for me. Bless you.” Hobi teased. Although Taehyung didn’t seem to notice. 

The inside of his car had become surprisingly warm, even with two of the windows ever so slightly open to try stop any misting on his windshield, but the welcomed heat hadn’t seemed to ease Taehyung at all. The witch just huddled into the blanket he had been given and tried not to sneeze or cough on anything besides his dwindling supply of tissues. 

“S’cuse me.” Tae sighed after he’d blown his nose for the tenth time throughout the car ride, feeling utterly gross. “We stay on the third floor. You can park over there.” He gestured to where a familiar looking car was parked. One he’d seen Tae driving before. “They allot one visitor parking for each apartment. I think this would be the first time we’ll actually be using it.”

 “Not a lot of friends with cars?”

“Mmm, Jungkook and I are the designated car friends.” Taehyung sniffled, muffled a groan as he wiped at his nose. “God, this is such a mess.”

It didn’t seem like that much of a mess to Hoseok, although teaching kids had probably forced him to overlook some pretty gross things sometimes. Not that Taehyung was anything close to being gross but it was obvious that the witch was deeply embarrassed as he fiddled with his long fingers, slipping the used tissues under the sleeve of his jacket as if ridding himself of any evidence. 

Upon instruction he pulled into the parking and shut off his engine. Hopefully the snow stayed light, since he wasn’t sure exactly how long he was going to stay. It could be a minute, it could be longer. It mostly was up to Taehyung. And also maybe on how he himself was feeling. His whole body was somehow warm, too warm, and he couldn’t help but let his mind drift to Jungkook and wonder if that's what was making him feel so heated.

Taehyung had mentioned him alot, being completely open about his steady relationship with the hybrid and completely open with his intentions, but Hoseok still worried. 

What if what Taehyung says about Jungkook is merely rose tinted… or what if the hybrid doesn’t want anything to do with him? Surely something like that would cause a rift in his budding relationship with Taehyung. Or what if Jungkook is everything that Taehyung has said he is and more, but Hoseok still doesn’t feel anything worth trying? What then?

“Can I bring this blanket with me? I’ll give it back once we’re inside.” 

“Yeah.” Hoseok blinked, jerked from his thoughts. “Yeah, let's go.”  

Outside was a shock of cold. Immediately missing the warmth he had built up before. He locked up once Taehyung was out and joined him to start the walk up. Oddly enough, the closer he got to the shivering witch, the warmer the air seemed to change. When finally standing beside him, the change was significantly different.

 Maybe it hadn't been his nerves about Jungkook earlier.

“Taehyung, are you alright?”

The younger, who had been about to start forward eager to get inside, frowned. His red nose and rose tinted cheeks glaring angrily in the soft winter setting as he sniffled relentlessly. “I’m … sick?”

Hoseok would have laughed at the confused tone if the odd heat wasn’t starting to stress him out. Instead he shook his head before resting a hand on Taehyung's forehead. It burned before he even reached his skin. “No I mean, I think you’re emitting heat. Like serious heat.”

Taehyung’s mouth dropped into a surprised ‘o’, then he swung his bag off his shoulder and onto the bonnet of Jungkook’s car to scratch urgently into it - sacrificing Jimin’s blanket to the floor without even a glance back to it. 

“Tae, is this normal? This can’t be normal. What..”

Taehyung twisted away with a shiver. A deep, surprisingly desperate sneeze tearing at his throat. Then again, with enough force to bend him at the waist.  

Hoseok reached out, putting a steadying hand on Taehyung’s waist while the witch pitched forward once more. He had just begun to ask if he was okay when Taehyung had straightened up again with his previous tissues pressed to his nose, but a bright glow burst in his peripheral vision caused him to falter.  

Taehyung’s bag was on fire.

What the hell… 

“What the..”

Taehyung groaned, muttering a soft ‘not again’ under his breath before grabbing a strap that was yet to catch alight completely and tossed it swiftly into the snow. As casually as one may toss a ball to the floor.  

What the hell did he mean ‘not again’? 

Hoseok was frozen on seeing the bag. He just couldn’t break himself from staring with wide eyes. Watching Taehyung fling the bag around without fear of burning himself, muttering curses in between a few coughs that started from the sharp scent that had mingled with the rising smoke. 

“Damn it… “ Taehyung whined, coughing a bit more before stumbling back to sit in the snow.

 It was slow, but Hoseok could already tell the snow around him was starting to melt. Even more so when Tae decided to fall onto his back so that he lay completely on the ground after his bag had stopped blazing. Not that there was much left of the bag. Which didn't make any sense because he didn't remember seeing anything remotely flammable in there - all just consumables and medicine. All of which were now gone.

Taehyung rubbed at his nose with his sleeve, coughing in soft irritated bursts. His eyes, much to Hoseok’s surprise, had changed from their usual warm brown and instead glowed a deep violet colour. That wasn’t something witches could do.  He took a wary step back, forgoing any attempt of appearing calm and allowing himself a few panicked seconds to understand that he had no idea what was going on..

“ ‘m sorry.” Taehyung murmured, taking in Hoseok's shaking frame and wide, unblinking eyes. The man looked more nervous the longer he stared. “That wasn’t supposed to happen. I must have done something wrong. I’m so sorry.”.

“It’s… H-hey, you shouldn’t be in the snow like that.” The jerky reply came. 

Taehyung shut his eyes before any building tears could escape, because this was not how today was supposed to go.

Of all the days for his powers to act up, why would they pick the day that he was with the human? When he needed to be put together and in control. When he needed to be normal. 

He should have listened to Jungkook and just stayed at home. Or better yet, he should have listened to the ancient prick of a professor when he had told Taehyung to just give up on trying to master anything and just live off of magic suppressants. Then he wouldn't be here. Scaring people he cares about.

“... Taehyung? Are you listening?”

“I’m sorry.” His voice cracked as a single tear broke free, followed by another. 

Hoseok frowned with confusion, because what he knew of witches from witches, was that they needed something to help guide magic from their surroundings or objects to be able to use it, and his friends had never said anything about their appearance being able to change. So clearly Taehyung had been lying about something, but as stunned as he was, Hoseok couldn't leave the witch - or whatever he was - crying in the snow. Even if he was currently a furnace. 

That was even more concerning.

 Taehyung kept mumbling broken apologies that Hoseok couldn’t even tell if the other realised he was doing it at this point. What was he even apologising for? For lying? For somehow setting his bag on fire? Or was it just a habitual reaction as he started to feel worse?

It doesn't matter. 

Not at that instant, at least. So he just picked up Jimin’s blanket from where it was dropped and nudged Tae to sit upright before draping it around his damp shoulders. He still felt like he was shaking with shock but he forced himself to get Tae standing, wrapping an arm around his waist to stabilise him as Taehyung tried not to sob. The next step was to get inside. 

Although the bag was a small problem too. He couldn’t exactly leave it out here, what if something happened again and someone got hurt because of it?

With a deep breath, he gingerly grabbed a corner of the thin material and lifted as far from his body as possible. 

“Okay, let's go.”

Hoseok was halted immediately upon moving forward because Taehyung refused to walk. The witch (witch?) was taking a deep trembling breath before pulling the bag back, hugging it to his chest like it hadn't been in flames just two minutes before. He had started to shrug the blanket off as well but Hoseok was quick to secure it in place with a questioning frown.

“You should leave.” Ice seemed to run up Hoseok’s spine at the words. “ I'm sorry, I should never ha-have tried to date you. I don’t want to hurt you.” 

“Enough. You won’t hurt me.” Hopefully. He had tried to make his voice as soft and gentle as possible, but it only seemed to cause another sob to break out of Tae. “Tell me which apartment and let's get you inside. I think there is some information that I am missing here and I have a feeling Jungkook can fill in some gaps while you calm down, okay? Once I understand better and if you still want me to leave, then I will.”

“I don’t want you too..” Taehyung whispered brokenly, rubbing his sleeve along his running nose. 

He looked absolutely miserable. A part of Hoseok just wanted to hop back in time so that they were back at the cafe. Wanted to wrap his arms around him and hold him tightly, even with how unnerving Taehyung’s eyes currently were.    

“Let's go up, Tae.” 

Hoseok tugged the other until they were both moving at a steady pace up the stairs of the building. Careful to not slip on anything. He had even managed to get Taehyung to stop crying, only having to bear the soft, yet constant apologies that were still tumbling out of him. 

The heat was sweltering by the time they had reached the door Taehyung had pointed out and Hoseok had to wipe a sleeve across his face to manage the sweat that had begun to build. 

Around them the sky was still a stormy grey, dropping down the fine ice as if wanting to blanket the world in cold. Although it felt more like droplets of rain on his skin. The heat was not allowing it to stay solid enough to reach either of them.

 Taehyung knocked softly on the door without bothering to check for his own keys and they were met with immediate shuffling and a deep, almost sleepy ‘hello?’, just before the door opened.

It was only two seconds before Taehyung burst into tears again upon seeing the bunny hybrid, and he would have fallen to his knees too if Jungkook hadn’t tugged him into his arms. A hot wind that seemed to have come from Tae surged out in all directions. Hobi could barely breathe until he had yanked off his scarf. 

Taehyung seemed to be just as affected but in the opposite way, clinging closer to his boyfriend as if searching for heat. Jungkook was the only one that seemed to be acting normal, or as normal as Hoseok could assume he’d be. 

The hybrid murmured soft reassurances into the damp, messy curls at Taehyung’s neck, dragging him inside before letting his eyes rest on Hoseok who had just been about to enter after them.

If Hoseok thought he’d been hot before, he was now set aflame. Like the bag had been outside. Maybe worse. 

Because if looks could kill, then Jungkook would be hitching him up to whatever torture device that he could get his hands on. He hadn’t thought it possible to see a hybrid look so angry, much less a bunny hybrid. Sure he’d seen Jimin get angry before, but never enough for him to feel genuine fear and unease. 

Taking a deep breath despite the hostility that he could only assume was a protective response, he stepped into the apartment and shut the door behind him. 

Jungkook gave an annoyed glare over his shoulder which Hoseok merely swallowed hard to and tried to seem peaceful while standing awkwardly in their doorway. Then the hybrid’s features did a complete flip, melting into something so fond that Hoseok couldn’t begin to describe it. Having decided to momentarily ignore the human, Jungkook lead Tae to their old couch, scrunching his nose at the blanket around his boyfriend's shoulders but choosing not to question it just yet. 

“Tae, did it not work again?” Although it was pretty obvious that something had gone wrong with the potions Taehyung had made if he was heating the place up like this.

“They exploded.” Tae forced out, eyes glancing to where Hoseok was still hovering. The bag that Tae had been holding before had been discarded on the floor. 

Well, that explained why the smell of smoke lingering in the air. 

Jungkook handed him a tissue box from its previous place at the foot of the couch and Tae merely buried his face into the first handful he had grabbed. Gone was any semblance of control and put togetherness, he just wanted to hide.

 “M-ahh.. My magic trihih’h’ triggered it, I think.”

Jungkook sighed and ran his hand through his boyfriend's hair, gently scratching at his scalp as he thought about what to do. They didn't have more and Taehyung wasn’t going to be able to make any in this state.And it wasn’t like they had anyone that they trusted to make the suppressants that Tae needed for them either. Dammit. 

Jungkook wasn’t sure of everything that happened but Taehyung had not been this bad when he’d left. He can barely remember the last time they hadn’t managed to suppress his magic once he’d lost control of it. Being fully prepared is the only way to cope when neither of them had many witch friends, and the witches and few warlocks at Tae’s fancy academy had always preferred seeing him fail than be willing to lend a hand. So they weren’t much help either. 

“Okay… Okay, we still have those fever reducer things. The ones that we bought back home. Why don’t we get you in the bath and put one in the water, and you can stay there for a bit and just try to cool down.”

“Hobi..”

“Hobi will wait here.” Jungkook spoke gently but Hoseok was still well aware of the steel that laced his voice. “Come on, Tae. You can’t enjoy feeling this way.” 

He lowered Taehyung’s hands from his face and pressed a soft kiss to his quivering lips, then again in the crook of his neck. Ridding the other of that unfamiliar blanket and taking deep pride in having already enveloped the elder in his own scent, like usual. Completely overpowering the scent of whatever hybrid had hung on him faintly since entering.  

“Is there anything I can help with… I- I don’t know what’s happening… ” Hoseok asked quietly. Not quite sure where he stood despite not having done anything wrong.

Jungkook didn't trace a hint of a lie in his words, which was odd since he’d been under the impression that Taehyung had told him everything that had needed to be said.

Had Taehyung not told him? 

The hybrid shook his head and instructed Hoseok to just stay where he was while he pulled Taehyung to his feet and dragged him to the bathroom.

It didn't take five minutes like he had hoped it would. Rather, Jungkook had left Hoseok alone in the apartment a lot longer than he had originally planned, but Tae had proven to be uncooperative as soon as he had felt the "icy" water in the tub. It had taken a lot of manhandling and petty reminders that if he didn’t get in and let the magic inside do its job, there would be a higher chance that another fire would break out. Which had resulted in more tears that Jungkook had felt immensely guilty for, but it had gotten Tae moving. 

That was the important thing right now.

Eventually Jungkook was able to leave him settled in the water, the heat still pulsing from his body as he did his best not to shiver.

 It wasn’t often that this happened to Taehyung, and regardless of what the elder often said, Jungkook could tell that the witch was able to control his powers better than when he had still lived with his grandparents. [That had been a bit of a disastrous patch in his life when it came to magic… ] The progress he had made was huge, but Taehyung just didn't seem to realise it. 

Which unfortunately left a lot of self deprecating thoughts that he just tried to ignore and not tell anyone about. But they were working on it. 

Or at least Jungkook had thought they'd been working on it, but apparently the witch was still keeping key details of himself a secret from people instead of embracing it as he had said he would. 

Granted, Taehyung was entitled to his privacy and secrets when it came to general life, but in theory, Jungkook had assumed that Hoseok had become intertwined enough in Taehyung’s life to be deserving of important facts. Being honest would just gain him another person that cares completely. And if - the slim chance - Hoseok reacted badly, then Jungkook would be sure to be the pillar of support for his boyfriend. He would also make the human regret his life choices, but again, slim chance.

“Can I ask what’s going on now? Is Taehyung alright?”

“He will be.” Jungkook chewed at his inner cheek. “This happens sometimes, he’s usually more careful but I’m guessing he was thinking about too many other things to see the signs.”

“He isn’t a witch.” Hoseok said firmly. Because he was certain of that. “His eyes changed, and I can’t sense magic or whatever but I know witches have to perform things through types of rituals and that fire …”

Jungkook grimaced, glancing back to where Taehyung was hidden with an aching worry before nodding towards the couch. Hoseok stayed standing for a few awkwardly long seconds before following through with the silent instruction to sit. 

“I don’t like speaking for him.” Jungkook sat beside him. “I was under the impression that you knew everything important about him but apparently not.”

“Please give me some answers. He… he scared me a little, I’ll admit that, but it was even more frightening to see him break after telling me to leave.”

“He told you to leave?” Jungkook frowned deeply. Taehyung had always been one to cling to the people he cared about when he was stressed or unwell. In fact he tended to cling to the people he cared about at any chance he could get no matter the circumstance. He is a man that thrives from attention. “Well that doesn’t make sense…”

“Jungkook-ssi, I know we don’t know each other well but please help me out here. He set a bag on fire from sneezing.” 

Jungkook took a moment to just observe the man. Despite Jungkook not being pleased with the state of Taehyung when he got home, his boyfriend was brought home safely, and the human did seem honestly concerned. He really hoped that Jung Hoseok was the man Taehyung thought him to be. 

"You can't treat him any different." Jungkook stated. "He had his reasons for not explaining, even if most of them are because of past fears. You have to promise to be open minded, because he really likes you."

"I'll do my best." Hoseok answered softly, his hands tightly wrung together. 

“Taehyungie-hyung is a witch." Jungkook confirmed this firmly. "It’s what he’s confident to work as since his mother and grandparents raised him as one, but he wasn’t meant to be one or rather.. I don't know. I don't know how to explain this…" 

He moved to sit beside Hoseok, not close but enough to try and show a more friendly approach than before. 

"He is a witch. He’s just not only a witch. He was born as a warlock, like his father - but like I said before, he was raised by his mother and grandparents and their relationship with warlocks after Taehyung's father was… rocky at best. He has an affinity for witchcraft but it's almost like it’s not enough and with his magic growing there's this constant imbalance that affects his craft. He tries his best but he can’t really control his witchcraft or magic very well. I can’t say for sure, because I’m not experiencing it, but I think people are more scared of his potential power than his lack of understanding and that's why they choose not to help him learn. The potions that were in his bag were types of suppressants that he’d made to try and limit his magic access but sometimes because of that imbalance in his magic the end results are tampered with. If that makes sense? An example is what you saw today."

It made sense, although he didn’t quite understand why Tae’s guardians would completely disregard him studying the magic he was born with - he would at least not have to ever be as despaired as he was earlier. Hoseok was definitely still going to get a migraine from over thinking it all later, but for now he would just have to accept it as a thing that happened. More importantly, why couldn't they just get someone else to make the potion thing for him? Or surely there was someone that was willing to teach him… had they tried everyone in the area? Hoseok wasn’t overly aware of the magic side of life in the town himself, but he did have a few friends within that community and they always seemed to have never ending contacts to call on for help.

"Forgive me if this comes off as, uh.. stupid but, why doesn't he just buy suppressants? If he wants them or needs them, why doesn't he just go to one of the potion shops here?"

"You want him to trust a stranger with something that could potentially be what makes him a bomb or not?"

That… was a fair point. 

“It’s also not very easy to make. There aren’t many witches in the area that can make it and those that probably can, don’t want anything to do with him.” Jungkook sighed. They had gone to every shop they could find that held a high rating, but nothing had ever panned out. Apparently being seen as a warlock playing ‘dress-up’ as a witch was a mildly offensive act for the townspeople. Taehyung hadn’t even been surprised. He’d just smiled reassuringly and kept trying to make the suppressants himself through trial and error [and a bucket load of luck].

“And if it was a warlock? Can’t they make it?” Hoseok prompted. 

If only it were that easy.

“Hoseok-ssi-”

“You can call me Hyung. You called me Hobi earlier.” Hoseok interrupted, then sheepishly shrugged. “Sorry, continue.”

A sliver of a smile appeared to catch on Jungkook’s lips. “Hoseok-hyung, then. Warlock’s aren’t exactly easy to find. They're often reclusive and particularly tricky to find. The few that Tae knows from the academy he goes to are all entitled little brats that refuse to help him. So unfortunately, this is the best we have at the moment.” Jungkook’s ears perked at the distant sound of coughing and gentle splashing - no doubt Taehyung was shifting restly as the fever reducers hopefully helped cool him. He turned briefly towards the direction of the bathroom - waited for Tae to relax again before returning his gaze to Hoseok’s. His previous protectiveness drained away with how much concern and confusion filled the elder man’s eyes. “I’m sorry that he scared you. Taehyung really doesn't have a dangerous bone in his body, I’m sure you must know that.”

What he had assumed would be reassuring only seemed to bring a wave of guilt onto the human as his features scrunched and he chewed at his inner cheek. After a moment Hoseok shook his head. Then again more determinedly, reached to drag his phone from his pocket. 

“I shouldn’t have even been afraid - those few seconds that I was. I’m just really worried, if he had told me sooner I really would have made him stay home so that he could rest properly.”

Jungkook chuckled with only a hint of amusement, yet a little endeared that there was at least one other person that felt the same as him about the health of his boyfriend. “Over time you come to learn that very little will stop Taehyung from doing what he wants.”

Hoseok hummed, thumbing through his phone until he reached a name in his contacts. “I have a colleague, Jimin - well, he’s my best friend - anyway, he’s the one who kind of introduced me into the world of magic. Like it had always been there, I just never really saw it, you know? But through him, I have a few friends now in the witch community that I can maybe call and ask? I actually know a warlock as well..” he grimaced at his phone before continuing. “Although I’ve only met him a handful of times. He's Jimin’s boyfriend so I can ask Jimin and see if Yoongi-hyung is interested in helping out as well?”    

“You’d do that?” Jungkook asked softly, almost in disbelief. “You have someone that could help?”

Taehyung had been struggling with this for years, basically refused by his own people, and this human that had happened to stumble into their lives may just potentially solve it with merely a phone call. This human that hadn’t even known about Taehyung’s true self until now despite dating him.

How was that even possible?

“Of course I would.” The reply was firm, the most confident thing Jungkook had heard from Hoseok since the moment they’d met. “I can’t make any promises on an outcome but it’s rare that my friends ever say no to me, and I know that Yoongi-hyung has never been able to say no to Jimin. Honestly, it would be pathetic if they weren’t so obnoxiously in love with each other.”

Jungkook didn't know what to say other than a hushed ‘thank you’ as he watched the other dial his friend. 

If this worked and Hoseok's friends could make the suppressant, then Taehyung would be able to focus properly on his craft without having to stress and use most of his time on trying to make them himself. He’d be able to form an apprenticeship with someone once he’s gained more control and routine - maybe he’d be up to learning about his own magic instead of just his craft. Maybe he’d even find some form of self acceptance.

“Kook?”

Jungkook looked up from his notes to where Taehyung stood hesitantly in the passageway. Tae’s hair fell in dark wet tangles in front of his dimmed lilac eyes and his nose cheeks held a deep rosy glow that probably had nothing to do with the bath he had just had, and he was dressed in the warm oversized clothes Jungkook had set out for him. If he wasn’t so sick Jungkook would have definitely cooed at him. 

“Did .. Did Hoseok leave?” 

Jungkook shook his head, reaching out an arm that encouraged Taehyung to move towards him and sink into his lap - a mess of limbs and damp skin. 

“He’s just outside making a few calls.” He reassured gently, running a hand up and down his boyfriend’s back as he felt the other gradually relax. “I told you he’d wait for you. Are you feeling a bit better? The heat isn't as intense as before but we’ll have to keep an eye on things. You should sleep with me tonight, just in case.”

Taehyung sniffled and buried his face into the crook Jungkook’s neck, but the hybrid could feel the tired smile that pressed against his skin. 

“We should also dry your hair before you get any worse.”

“Wet hair doesn’t cause colds, Kookie.” Taehyung mumbled, before turning abruptly to cough away from his boyfriend. 

Jungkook hummed, tightening his grip around Taehyung as he groaned. “Maybe, but I would feel better knowing that you are completely dry. Your Hobi-hyung has some friends that might be able to make some potions for you, so you will hopefully be feeling better soon.”

Taehyung gave a confused croak, twisting to read Jungkook’s features while hovering a hand over his mouth to cough into again. Yet before anymore could be said the sound of the front door being opened and shut caused an uneasy tension to sink back into the witch. It physically  hurt to see his boyfriend so unsure when he was usually so bright, so easy to give love. Taehyung almost looked like he was trying to blend into Jungkook’s side to not be noticed by the human entering his home. 

Obviously it was in vain. Hoseok’s eyes dimmed with what Jungkook could only guess was some type of misplaced guilt.

“My, uh… my friends are going to come by later, if that's okay.” Hoseok shuffled awkwardly before deciding to act like he usually would and stepped a bit more confidently to the couch to sit so that Jungkook was centred between them. “They are making some, quote on quote, “Basic” remedies for now. Apparently they’ll need to know more about you, Tae, before they can do anything more… I hope that's… okay?”

“I think that’s great.” Jungkook said softly, letting Taehyung pull away just a bit. “Is there anything else that you want to know? Baby, maybe you want to speak? There isn’t anything to be nervous about, I promise.”

It was a tough decision to kind of toss Taehyung under the bus like that, especially since he was clearly nervous to see how his date had reacted to everything he assumed Jungkook had told him. But insecurities or not, the hybrid wasn’t going to continuously act like the go-between when discussing personal matters. 

“He doesn’t need -”

“No he does.” Jungkook said firmly, but there was still something tender in his voice. Taehyung hesitated before rubbing at his nose with a decisive nod. “Good. I’m going to the store to restock everything that burnt up in that bag earlier, call if you need me but I won't be too long.” 

The hybrid cupped his hand around Taehyung’s cheek and guided his mouth to his own, kissing him hard before brushing feather light kisses to his boyfriends cheeks and nose. Taking joy in watching the elders' eyes flutter and glow just a little brighter than before. 

“Hoseok,” Jungkook stood and inclined his head briefly towards the other who was shifting with nerves. “It's been a pleasure, please look after him for me for a bit.”

That seemed to ease off at least some of the tension as Taehyung let out a low rumbling whine, stuttering off into a surprisingly pitchy sneeze that had all three of them chuckling softly. Then he was moving quickly to let them have their privacy. 

If it had been anyone else Jungkook would have probably laughed at the idea of leaving his boyfriend alone with them while he was feeling this unwell, but something gave him the idea that Jung Hoseok was someone he could trust.

And if he happened to have seen the pair cuddled up sleeping on his own bed with two empty mugs, a half eaten bowl of ramen stacked on his nightstand and a discarded hairdryer losing a battle to scattered tissues on the floor by the time he had returned home, he would be able to say with 100% certainty that he did not mind it all.

Like clockwork, everyone's bitterness about Jungkook becomes apparent as lowkey/highkey shade thrown at him because his solo success is the biggest outlier. People wrongly interpret this as him being the fandom priority. He is not. I've been Jungkook biased the entire time I've been in the fandom, and he's the target of hate from every other member's akgaes as well as the group fandom because of his perceived privilege. There is a large part of the fandom who think he gets enough and so they don't push for him, or they'll favor every other member to try to balance against Jungkook's numbers. Everyone has their favorite. This is natural. They're all established solo artists with their own fandoms, in addition to ARMY who each have their favorites as well. So the numbers are never going to match. Even if every ARMY gave the same energy to all of them (which would be extremely difficult on an individual and group level) their numbers are not going to match. Unless you stomp out their solo fandoms entirely and forbid anyone from being a fan of them as solo artists (some ARMYs are trying this) the numbers will never be the same. When I see people complain about the numbers their favorite is getting, it's usually comparing to Jungkook and thinking he's getting all of the fandom attention. He actually gets treated like shit though because of the resentment anyone who has another bias feels. He's had fandom lead campaigns to boycott his music, and the fandom at large supported those boycotts. The only one that had the fandom trending hashtags to kick him out (not solos trending hashtags to leave). He gets just as much fuckery "from the company", like song credits disappearing from streaming sites, as any other member. BTS gets credited on his solo releases so they can funnel his numbers to the group. When the company tried to add BTS to the Seven credits, that was the literal definition of sabotage. It would have blocked him from ever charting higher than the group. But it's hard to defend or even praise Jungkook without some perceiving it as slight to the others. As I saw someone rightly point out, every Jungkook stan has at least once thought about tweeting praise and decided not to to avoid getting jumped by not just stans of other members, but even supposed "OT7"s. This is how it is, but I'm not going to try to argue that people should be doing anything different other than not being hateful. There's no use in trying to argue that the fandom should do more. Never Let Go was made for ARMY to release during festa, and yet it got carried by the solo fandom. OT7 funding accounts only gathered a few hundred dollars, while Jungkook's biggest solo fanbase raised $30k. The infamous radio "payola" was actually an extreme uphill push from his solo fanbases who had people organizing specifically for that (see link below). He didn't get radio play immediately, even with Seven's huge success it took weeks. So my suggestion is to focus on your fave in the most positive way you can. None of them is getting success handed to them, they are all working so hard. The fans also work for this. As far as streaming goes, I "work" for Taekook. But I also listen to what I like. I think RPWP is a masterpiece, it may be overall my favorite solo release so I streamed that a lot. I just found Taekook/RPWP playlists. Focusing on inequality in numbers as an injustice perpetrated by everyone else against your fave is a fast track to becoming an akgae. It also turns every release into an absolutely miserable experience. I can't imagine that any of them would be happy if they saw the way these things go every time, and the amount of hatred that gets aimed at the other members.

Do you think taekook went to the fortune teller together? Like at the same time? Coz in that video where they were debating about the perilla leaf, Tae mentioned that he went to a Saju and was told he doesn’t have enough fire, and JK was surprised and said you and I might be a match. It seemed like it was the first time he heard of it.

Tae seems pretty explicit when he says "so we consulted a fortune teller". That was 6th March 2022.

JK doesn't seem THAT surprised to me, it seems a bit like he already knew. But he also asks Tae if it was fire he was missing as if it is fairly new information. (Though that could also be him misspeaking and correcting himself.)

I wouldn't call it a sensitive matter, but if a particular segment of the fandom (cough, Taekookers, cough) is feeling upset about this, I don't see any issue with that as long as it doesn't lead to hatred toward other members. That's where I draw the line. This isn't your typical BTS content where all members are expected to be present. It's a bit more complex. I think the issue arises from the company's focus on specific pairs most of the time. I'm not implying a conspiracy, but content related to YOONMIN, NAMKOOK, MINIMONI, VMIN, NAMGI, etc., could have been included and celebrated with same enthusiasm over the 10 years.

I believe Jungkook is telling the truth when he mentioned that Jimin wanted to do this, and the company seized the opportunity. If Taekook shippers have an issue with it, they have a right to be. Jikook and Taekook are two of the biggest ships in the fandom. So, if the company focuses solely on one pair and not the other, it's not fair to Taekook enthusiasts or even ARMY who want to see Taekook content. It also sets a certain narrative that can lead to unwarranted hate towards Taehyung (even by OT7). There's no concrete proof or statements regarding any pairing's realness; it's mostly fan speculation, which may or may not be accurate. But to overlook Taekook as a pair for official content, especially for ARMY who believe no member is in a romantic relationship, is setting the stage for unnecessary criticism.

As you've mentioned before, and I agree, Taekook has matured and can handle being on camera together just fine. I can understand any concerns up until 2018, but beyond that, it seems like it's taking a long time to establish that Taehyung can do something for Jungkook without people jumping to conclusions. When people wonder why Taehyung gets more hate, this is a part of the answer. Even now we see Taekook more together in ads than company content. I'm not accusing the company of any malicious intent; they likely made these decisions to protect the members and themselves, but that doesn't mean these decisions can't be flawed. I apologize for the lengthy rant, but it's clear that the company did dirty to Taekookers in this regard.

And people say we are unhinged when most of the things we get are either from the artists or third party sightings. Trust me I understand why jkkrs looks so delulu.

Mmm, that is a complex thing actually right? Because the way we look at this kinda has to do with which perspective we take (though perhaps the outcome is the same on all accounts, just the way we get to it might differ). Gonna think out loud a bit..

If we take the most neutral perspective, that would be that of Armies who don't believe in ships. I kinda wonder if they even think about stuff like this. Do non shippers miss company Taekook content? I really don't know. I think perhaps some might have the same reaction some Tkkrs have to Jkk content. They associate Taekook with Tkkrs and are therefore more busy with fandom reaction than with the actual content. But then again, I follow some (I think..though you never know) neutral blogs and those are always happy to see Tae and Jk together. In general my take is that neutral army does not have the same call for Tkk content as we do... whereas I have seen a call for Vmin content when there was a lack thereof. I'm sure neutrals would love to see Tae and Jk together in something, but I don't know if the demand is actually that high.

Now, let's take the company's perspective... I am of the opinion that the company does not treat both ships equaly, because they know one is not actually a ship. That does change things, because there is the adition of having to keep it a secret.. and.. extra Tkk content will surely get huge fandom reactions. Taking into account that there's arguably more Tkkrs than Jkkrs already.. I'd say they perceive it as an actual risk. That does not necessarily mean that the risk is as high as they perceive it, but they will always base their decisions on worst case scenarios. They protect their business and a part of that is keeping 'scandals' away. Is that unfair? Definitely, the whole closeting situation is unfair. Is it with bad intentions? I mean.. partly? It does actually protect Tae and Jk's privacy and relationship, because imagine the whole world and media being all over them. I'd say the worst thing is that they aren't allowed to be openly queer. Privacy and openness about sexuality should be up to them, and I think the company does have a say in that. I don't know how much of the pairing of Yoonmin, Hopemin, Vmin we got this year is the company's idea or the result of members preferences. I tend to believe Jimin and Yoongi and Jimin and Hobi are actually close and that therefore them being in official content together is natural. But, there's also obviously pr benefits there. People hate me for this, but Jm at Tae's fanmeeting was pr for both.. does that mean their connection is less real? No. Things can be both and it was clear that they both enjoyed being able to do this together. Same goes for Jm and Jk's travelvlog stuff. It's nice that they get to do that together and I think they had a blast and both wanted to do it. But the purpose of it is to entertain Army. And that is where the difference becomes clear in how the company treats Taekook... because I am fairly sure we would never have gotten a Taekook travelvlog (omg how hilarious would that be.. for us 😂)if Tae and Jk had wanted to do it. Sure we get them interacting on lives and they might even do a live together at one point, but actual company released footage... I don't think it's in the stars for us. But... then again you never know and we might just get lucky someday. Sure, not all members get to pair up.. we don't really see Namjoon do anything with anyone as much, but the thing is that Tae and Jk are amongst the closest (if not closest... yes, closest!) pairing and they do not get put together on official content. Unfair or protection? I don't know.. maybe also both.

So our perspective (as Tkkrs) we will always think of it as unfair. We want as much as we can get and we are [rotective of them and we think we know what they themselves would want at times. Do Tae and Jk actually want to be doing something offical together? And to what extent? I still have some hopes for Tae going to support Jk publicly somewhere. I think him being in Suchwita (which could have been edited out) was a step. But I don't think it's going to be much bigger steps than that. Perhaps they'll go to some awardshows together, or with Jimin as well? I think their relationship with Tkkrs is complex. Though it might feel justifying in some way, us screaming too loudly will increase their unsafety. Tkkrs in comments being too bold is annoying for that same reason. They can't come out, so don't push them. I think the company's relationship is equally complex, but obviously not emotionally based. They too have to walk a line between making use of them and keeping them a secret.

Lastly, we have the perception of other ships, mainly Jkkrs. To them, Jm and Jk doing a travelvlog together is proof. I mean, it's probably gonna be worse than the Tokyo GCF. That sucks because I already know the amount of straws in my inbox will be insane and their takes on it will make me cringe out of embarresment and annoyance. But.. that does not mean Jk and Jm shouldn't be able to do this stuff. They want to, they enjoy it.. and I will just avoid straws for a while until things have settled.

I am gonna enjoy seeing Jm and Jk together so much. I love them, love the way they interact and I think it's gonna be super funny. Sure things might be unfair on some level (I don't actually think I have a strong conclusion in here somewhere), but to me that does not stand in the way of enjoying whatever content we get. I think this whole situation makes it hard to be fair to everyone in all aspects.

I completely agree with you that a lot of these videos are and so called 'proofs' are being systematically released to enforce the thought in the mind of the fandom that Tae and JK are close. May not be this ramen video though, it was just too generic and vague to make any impact. However, we will be seeing many such 'proofs' in the future too. This is damage control for all those years of awkward and distant narrative.

That's what makes the most sense to me too.

On reflection, I do think the leaking of it now is a little sus, I mean why has it took 14 months for this to leak CCTV footage isn't usually kept for that long as far as I'm aware. So, it makes me think, someone deliberately got and held onto it until now, for some unknown reason.

But because we've been seen more personal social interactions via leaks makes me think that this too, like you say, could be part of this pre-planned effort to change people's idea about Taekook and how close they are as a opposed the the established narrative.
