No Running in the House by alonelywriter. It's incomplete, but I like what it offers so far. Reader gets yoinked from modern times by Miss Pauling after Reader loses a sexual harassment/assault case against her boss, and ends up stuck back in the 1960's working for the RED team as a sort of caretaker. It's really interesting and I need more of it.

Burning Fast by 2bad2write is on my "to read" list, so while i haven't read through the available chapters yet, I do like how the grammar and paragraph structure looks at a first glance. Just Sniper x Reader

Another "i need to read this" is Tidying Up by EldritchKaiju. AFAB, NB!Reader this time. Looks promising, and at almost 50,000 words, you and i shall have much to read

Unfortunately, a lot of what's available is 100-500 word fics, so finding good, high quality, longer fics is a bit of a challenge, but I hope you find something you like from what i've offered.

THOUGHTS on the new #3 etude thing that just got translated. marina acht confirme

ooohhhh my goddd oh my god you have no idea

etude #3 aligns basically perfectly with what I interpreted about Acht and Marina's characters and relationship. especially what I believed about Acht's self esteem issues and how they were treated as an outcast.

I've always thought Acht had a crush on Marina, that they strongly admired her, and strongly believed they were never good enough for her. I think a lot of their avoidant and seemingly apathetic attitude in the story is somewhat in attempt to keep Marina at arm's length. They've internalized other people's perception and treatment of them (in addition to their CANONICAL dysphoria), and want to spare Marina of being dragged down by association. Acht sees themselves as tainted almost.

But despite believing they're not worthy, they still want to be close to Marina. And that's why the idea of her finding somebody more suited for her (in their eyes) makes them upset. I dare say even a little jealous. Acht wants the best for Marina because they believe she deserves it, and they themself do not. But the selfish part of them still loves her I think.

It makes their awkwardness about Pearl and Marina's relationship much more complex. There's multiple times where Pearl is referred to as amazing or incredible by Marina, and even Acht themself.

I'm sure even after all this time, it stings, because Marina really did find someone as interesting as her. Someone she should be with. Someone who's amazing, and incredibly incredible. Someone Acht has never seen themself as.

A very important part to Acht's character, in my opinion, is their purposeful indifference. They try to be more stoic and hide how they feel. They wear shades because they don't like how their face looks "too cute". They act aloof and laid back, but really they're just awkward and shy.

I need whoever gave Acht dysphoria a kiss on the mouth. It's amazing enough to have a nonbinary character in this series, it's a whole different level to talk about these kind of personal issues that a multitude of real trans people experience daily.

Acht tries to be their idea of cool. And they really are cool! But I love that their confidence is paper thin. I love that they're committed to self expression through their clothes and their piercings and their music. I love that they struggle with self image nonetheless. etude has only cemented these traits we could've caught in side order itself.

All that being said, I've been seeing some Marina hate (mostly in jest), for leaving specifically Acht behind when she left the domes. I think this is wholly unfair vfnjdk we know exactly why Marina left, and that was also reiterated in etude. Octarian society is strict and harsh, and punishes those that stray outside of the mold, like Acht. Marina, though exceptional and diligent, understood that her elite standing could be ripped away swiftly if she too were deemed "a delinquent". This clearly put a lot of pressure on her, and pushed a wedge between her and her oldest friend.

Marina sacrificed a lot to be happy. And yes, her friendship with Acht was one of those things. But truthfully, it seemed apparent to me that no matter what, they were going to drift apart and eventually stop talking, despite how neither of them would've wanted it to be that way. At this point, Marina had no idea this was really going to be the last time she saw Acht (until side order, obs), but they both knew on some level that her reassignment to the Octavio unit would be the end of their time together, or at the very least, the beginning of the end.

I don't think Acht holds any resentment towards Marina at all. I think if Acht had been brave enough they would've left too, given the chance. I think they're just happy to be able to put the past behind them, and be close with Marina again, something that was unlikely to be if they had both stayed in the domes. I would, however, be interested to see if anything about it will be mentioned in future stories. I'd love to see Marina and Acht talk and interact more on their own. A detail I really loved in side order, is if you sit in the elevator before deciding a color chip sometimes, you can see them actually talking indistinctly in the background. They both even laugh now and then, it's incredibly sweet, they have so much to catch up on!

Sooooo yeah! That's some of my thoughts adjacent to #3 etude! Thank you for thinking of me, and being curious... hehe.... I'm sooooooooo so so so happy more people are seeing the potential in Acht and Marina's relationship, platonic and romantic!

I'm going feral. The stuff revealed in the new eps is so in line with Betty and Simon's characters, but god. I wish Simon's had picked up on it earlier. I wish he'd gotten on that bus with her. I wish he'd been more insistent that she take credit with him for the discovery of the Enchiridion. I just. The tragedy of it all. The lack of communication despite the mutual obsession. I'm going to be insane over this for months

goddd i know. they strike me as the type of couple that will talk about anything and everything except their own relationship, in part because they think they've got it all figured out (they love each other so what else do they need?), and in part because they're afraid to pry too much and end up messing things up.

i think episode 8 made it very clear that simon was always passive on their relationship, and that passiveness spurred betty to keep things moving between them at every turn, escalating it as time went on. she always chose to do what would make simon happy, because that did make her happy as well, but it also meant putting herself in second on her list of priorities. but, to her, that's a small price to pay if it means keeping simon's attention.

simon, on the other hand, never realized that this was how betty handled their relationship and mainly kept following her lead precisely because it's what he thought she wanted him to do - after all, betty always appeared to be so bold, smart and strong. she certainly wouldn't stop herself from doing anything she wanted to do, and especially not for him. he was lucky enough to get her attention at all in the first place.

that's why getting in that bus with betty was something he never even considered doing, even after all this time, because surely, if betty wanted to go with him, she would have just told him... right?

i was actually so indecisive about this when i started plotting the fic because while i enjoy reading fics with alternating povs just as much as fics without them, i've never written one with them and i wasn't sure if i'd enjoy/be good at switching mindsets like that!

i ultimately decided to stick to john's pov for that reason, but also because i thought as the reader, having to see things through his eyes and only being able to guess about gale the way john does would be more intriguing, especially with john's view of the world/interactions warped and/or rose–tinted by youth, inexperience, emotional dysregulation, etc.

BUT sooo much of what i have written in my drafting doc is from gale's pov because i love picturing this bucky through his eyes too, it's just such a fresh and new dynamic for me to explore as someone who primarily writes mota–verse buckbucky, and what we see from john's pov is so different from how gale sees things of course lol.

like it drives me insane thinking about how this poor man was literally just living his peaceful life, fine with being solo, going through the routine every day of work and then bike club and then home, and suddenly he's got this golden retriever of a boy attached to him like a magnet, and he's being kept on his toes dealing with the bundle of energy, and each day is now unpredictable and as exciting as it is stressful and he has no one to blame but himself lol. and the way we don't get to see the self–restraint he has to have and the struggle to be responsible and do what's 'right' while also dealing with his own feelings, because john isn't aware that's going on inside gale's head!

i could go on and on about his side of things aughghgh so i think eventually i'll end up doing a pretty lengthy oneshot sorta thing of certain events in the actual fic through gale's eyes (kinda what i plan on doing with yadiym for john's pov) bc goddd i have so many thoughts about how all of this would be playing out from his perspective!!! if not a oneshot, then drabbles like this one i hope.

if i had the time and if it wouldn't be boring to read i would honestly just rewrite the whole fic from gale's pov once it's done because with every scene i write, i'm like ooo i wanna dive into his pov and talk about what he's thinking and seeing so BAD but i can't bc we're in john's head </3 i just love analyzing john through his eyes and ik i've yapped ab this so much in past posts but gale does see so much of his younger self in him, that's why he has a lot of patience and takes a liking to him so fast, even if he doesn't realize that right away. :')

at the very least i definitely want to write pwp oneshots/drabbles set in the TAS universe from gale's pov so i can gush over describing how pretty and sweet and mouthy john is LOL i'm sure i'll add the fic itself to a series like with my dog–coded fic so that i can build on the au with oneshots once it's done >:-)

if you could create another Goal Of The Nuclear/Normalcy storyline/arc for sam, would it have a romantic relationship? if yes, who would the person be (existing character or a new one)? if not, what would the circumstances be and would it surround a narratively Third person at all? and which point in the series do you think it would work the best? (as an aside, are there any existing characters like cas or gadreel or crowley or rowena that you would want to involve in this arc?)

even though i never really find myself focusing on romantic relationships in spn, i think it would have to include a romantic relationship eventually. they tend to be critical to the winchesters' idea of Normalcy and the goal of the Complete Nuclear, and sam would only feel as though he's completely achieved that if he had a romantic relationship of some kind. however, i do think it would start without a romantic relationship though, with that as the eventual goal. i think sam would have to leave before he would be able to find someone, so he wouldn't necessarily start with that as his explicit, main goal, but he would find himself gradually ending up with a romantic partner.

i think the hard part about creating a storyline where sam strives for normalcy again is that they really only do work when dean and sam are separated (because of death or of their own volition) because of the nature of their dependency on each other and how all-consuming it is. there are a couple that work if you mess more with canon (s9/10 post-dean's death comes to mind, i've read a couple great fics where he ends up staying dead and sam & cas have to deal with that) but i think the timeframe that works the most with canon would be post-09x10. i would really enjoy a situation where sam’s anger and his struggle with his loss of autonomy is expressed by returning back into his initial, pre-series/s1 goal of achieving normalcy and safety. i would probably write it as a situation where sam increasingly begins to struggle with reality again, isn't really able to hunt effectively, and decides to take a step back. that could be a weird time frame in some ways because his choice to continue hunting in s9B could be interpreted as sam trying to prove that he still deserves to be alive / has a purpose that can be used for good, but I think if it was framed in a way through an injury or through a storyline where it’s unsafe for him to be hunting, then it could work. he would probably be eventually pulled back in by demon!/moc!dean but that’s to be expected of course <3 there is just so much s9 sam potential that the broader fandom tends to brush over, mostly because of avoiding dean’s actions / disliking that sam’s anger is towards dean, but i LOVE this time-period & i wish we’d gotten more about sam’s personal struggles after gadreel, including ones that don’t involve dean.

in terms of characters i would include — cas would probably have to be one, especially given his relationship with sam in s9/s10. i’ve always been really interested in his opinion before 09x10 (“you were stupid for the right reasons”) and whether it changed during/after 09x11 when he saw the effect it had on sam, which could be interesting to explore. and maybe also jody? only because i’m thinking about the deleted scene where sam tells her that he thinks smth is off before gadreel takes over again and i think she’s a less dean-biased character, which would be needed if sam wanted to step away. oh and gadreel ofc. their relationship that also isn’t a relationship at all is SO fascinating to me and i think he should just Lurk <3 figuratively and literally <3

also my bestie is the same with human AUs so i completely get it, and am so pleased & proud my work can be considered so in character to bypass that worry. i agree that the 6,000 years of pining, as well as their separation from the rest of humanity, is a massively integral part of what makes aziraphale and crowley. but imo their lil everyday interactions are just as important, like their flow of conversation and all the temptation vs resistance.

so as long as human AUs recreate that dynamic in some way, they can be sooo fun to read. and then you unlock a whole new range of stories for when you get tired of the same/similar End Of The World narrative. it's hard to get it right, especially when writing a completely different medium like twitch chats and discord messages, but soooo rewarding when it lands 😭🙏 thank you again.

Oh my goddd they'd love anything that survived WWIII that provided more insight into the little mundane things of daily living they might have read about in books. Imagine them finding a betamax or CD player, or a built-to-last, old school refrigerator or sewing machine; the latter they end up gifting to Gilda, Anna, Gillian, or Vincent. Any older video game systems, especially ones with working digital libraries or those 250-in-one collections, would be a hit with the kids.

Lowkey obsessed with the scenario of the kids having a Mario Kart tournament that Norman and Ray aren't even a part of originally, but somehow they get roped into joining, and after like one or two races they're aceing it and eventually it's just like, deadass silent except for the rapid button mashing these two are doing because they don't shit talk each other but are just being absolutely vicious to each other on the screen, calculating more and more difficult angles to hit each other with green shells, drifting in front of each other just to throw back banana peels on the most precarious of turns with no edges, etc. Winds up the same way as their chess matches do:

You said if you have scenarios send an ask and I don’t have anything concrete but I will say I love the idea of John and George being Paul’s babies.

I think George’s oral fixation (how much he loved food and his ciggie addiction) would translate well to like, sucking on dummys and of course sucking dick, but I still like the idea of him being the “older” of the littles. It would be an interesting dynamic where George has some power over John but still has to answer to Paul, which I think would kinda mindfuck him because he had such a big hero worship of John IRL and hated Paul treating him like the kid brother. Also idk just the way you portray John as such a sensitive baby (still able to be bratty but also very sensitive and sweet and quick to cry) would contrast really well with George being more grumpy.

As for baby Johnny I think having a second little would bring a lot of emotions! First of all he doesn’t want to share his daddy, and it’s embarrassing that even with another little around he’s still the youngest babiest who can’t control himself (I imagine George wouldn’t be into messing at least not for a long time). At the same time I see George being extremely obstinate to the idea even if he wants it, which would in turn make John - who is very resistant himself but also more used to the dynamic, now more likely to cry than misbehave - seem especially good in comparison. Maybe Johnny gets more praise for wetting and messing his nappies or eating baby food or playing horsey and in turn it makes him fall deeper and deeper into his baby mindset and he’s able to really enjoy himself.

I also like the idea of the littles playing with each other like jumping through their nappies, which depending on Paul’s instructions could end up with them being punished or encouraged. I like the idea of like, Paul putting John in mittens so he begs George to rub him through or under his nappy.

Also just for John and Paul idk if they’re playing their baby game I like the idea of John slowly wanting to do more childish things but being scared to admit it. Like I like the idea of him maybe wanting to “accidentally” start weeing while his diaper is being changed like how babies do, and trying to articulate this to Paul.

Also the idea of “potty training” but like the point is the John is still too young, like he’s given pull-ups and stuff but they both know it’s not gonna be enough. The idea of him getting too desperate and wetting himself and it runs down his legs- especially hot if they’re at home and he’s only in a pull-up and shirt. Or they have a potty training chart but it’s perpetually empty of stars because Johnny cant ever make it. OR a sort of un-potty training chart at the beginning when John is still really apprehensive where Paul actually rewards him with a gold star if he wets himself without fussing about it.

Bless you, darling, I adore all of this!!! If I ever get around to writing a sequel to The Sum of Them, it will basically be just that plot of George babying John with Paul again, then allowing himself to be babied for the first time and John’s red hot jealousy of Paul babying someone besides himself. I love the idea of John acting like an even bigger baby to draw Paul’s attention, omg. The whole experience would be so mortifying for George, but I think it would also be one of the most intimate experiences of his life. I have this scene in my head where John absolutely loses it and has a full-blown tantrum, and ends up wetting himself when Paul is spanking him. George feels so bad for John and how humiliated he obviously is that he wets himself on purpose so Paul will also spank him. John and George are put into a bath together and John quickly gets over his grumpiness so he can have some playtime with his new big brother. 😏

Goddd I also love the idea of John wanting to act more childish during their games and being too scared. The diapers would have been a big step for them and I’d understand if John was afraid to push the boundaries, like if he goes too far he’ll turn Paul off. I can see him having more and more accidents on purpose just so Paul will diaper him, being naughty so Paul will spank him, and acting totally helpless, asking Paul to cut his food and dress him, acting like a dumb little baby who doesn’t know what anything is… Paul would catch on and play along, but Johnny likes his new lifestyle so much that it’s hard to stop pretending even in front of other people. 😳 Jesus Christ, the image of piss running down John’s chubby thighs when he’s just wearing a pull-up and a shirt, omfg, it’s gonna haunt me! 🥵🥵
