Reverse racism isn't real but its kinda insane how some poc react to being told "taking out your anger about racism on white people you oppress on the basis of sexuality or gender, by being homophobic/transphobic to them is bad"
#i am 100% convinced its because yall find someone you hold societal power over and immediately want to flip the script#especially since every time this topic comes up they immediately try to paint every critic as either white or like#a coconut/oreo/ect#cause the base assumption is always 'racism is so much worse than every other axis of oppression that you cannot oppress white people ever#which stems from the specifics of how racism and misogyny interact such that white women often are able to leverage their whiteness#in such a way that it trumps the male privilege of a black man#but most people take that to mean that men of color cannot be misogynistic to white women#but what they miss is the misogyny that causes that reversal ie. white women are white mens property#but they extrapolate that mistaken conception to make it so that bigotry towards white people doesn't count ever#n e ways

disco elysium text-form #thots:
i finished my first run last friday because i went stupid and played the game for nearly 24h straight. i could literally not drop it. i called it a 10/10 when i was about 2h away from finishing it, finished it and kept that score. it’s a real good game and you can stop here with my endorsement but if you want some more in-depth spoiler-free thoughts on it you can read the rest of this post. it’s big.
due to the content of the game, i talk about mental health topics, suicide, drug use and - obviously - cops 🐷
in a way calling this by numbers feels reductive (scalding hot review take, i know). a 10/10 score doesn’t reflect the awe i felt when gilding through the end-game. it doesn’t say a thing about how viscerally my body reacted to a few pixels and lines of text. it can’t tell you that i spent 2h in bed trying to sleep but couldn’t keep my brain off of it and got up at 8AM to finish it; or how much i’ve been replaying the game in my head, curious about how certain quests or events would have gone if i’d tried a different approach or character build.
i have this funky little medical condition that goes with my autism that makes it difficult for me to identify and process most emotions that i feel. but i can tell you how my body reacted. this game went into my gut. it felt like a leaded fist burrowed through my throat into the pit of my stomach and shredded my insides. it got me fucked up, is what i’m saying.
obviously i can’t go into what caused me to react like that without spoiling the shit out of this game, and since i wish i could gently lobotomize myself in order to experience it again for the first time, i heavily recommend you go through it knowing as little as possible. what i can do, however, is talk about the technical elements of it.
the art is beautiful. the art direction is top-notch and it was definitely of the things that drew me to this game first. the oil painting aesthetic is sublime - gritty and ethereal in equal parts whenever each purpose is called for. finding out that the art team was spearheaded by painting majors from russian fine-art schools made perfect sense - it shows, and the game made peak use of it. the philosophy behind their visual approach is woven into the fabric of the game itself - it’s a perfect compliment to the writing and storytelling, and i’d struggle to imagine this game without it. it permeates and elevates every environment, every interaction, every character build choice - from the character portraits, to the UI, to certain skills and game events. real art cop hours all my homies kin the art cop.
the music by british sea power is subsided and haunting and gives the game that british/european post-industrial melancholic flavor. i’m no music critic sadly. it fits the mood and it stands out beautifully in a few key scenes, but that’s as much as i can say.
the biggest turn off for me was in the voice acting. if you’re interested in playing this game i’m going to assume with 75% certainty you’re in your early 20s to 30s and are politically located to the left side of liberal at a minimum - so i’ll just come out and say it plainly: every second NPC (especially in the late game) is voiced by a leftist podcaster. i’m sure this is a plus for some, and it’s not the kind of thing you’d immediately notice anyway unless you’re a quote unquote dirtbag leftist with terminal irony poisoning twitter brainrot. most of them do competent work, but the sound mixing and general performance is weaker in comparison to the NPCs voiced by actual voice actors.
it’s not that bad, but it’s there - and the fact that this is probably my biggest complaint about the game should say enough of my opinion on it. either way i was cringing with recognition every time it happened and it took me out on more than one occasion because i kept hearing felix chapotraphouse in one of the game’s big tense climatic scenes.
‘but caramujo!’ you say ‘this doesn’t tell me what this game is about’. hold on, i’m about to blow the ‘i can’t do literary analysis unless things are explained to me in clear cut absolute terms’ gang out of a career and spell the themes of this game out for you in detail:
it’s about loss, and renewal - both personal and interpersonal. it’s about rising from the ruins of something that’s been in motion long before you were even thought of, having little power over it, and soldiering on. it’s about heartbreak and the end of a relationship and how that can warp your mind and infect everything around you. and you won’t get better right away - the end game doesn’t wrap everything up with a little bow and lets you cause systematic upheaval. you can’t revolutionize your way out of this one. shit will, for the time being, continue to suck.
it’s about waking up in a body that’s fucked up with a heart that aches in a world that’s been torn apart - and still making the decision to try to make it better - because you’re alive, and your heart beats, and there’s other beings in the world that are tethered to you and we all owe it to ourselves to make it better. communism hasn’t worked, baby - but so hasn’t love - and we’re not gonna give up on that. that’s what it’s all about.
it should be pretty clear right now that i did my first run as a bisexual/questioning communist feminist hobo who kinned karl marx. but i can assure you there’s other ways to play this game, and there’s more to it than that because of it.
the quests (both side quests and a main story) are varied and had me laughing and dropping into existential despair on different occasions. other than trying to be the biggest communism builder, this game is also about:
- having a heart attack because a chair is too uncomfortable, but it’s OK because your buddy cop holds you in his arms like in the buddy cop movies.
- doing copious amounts of drugs and turning on, tuning in and dropping out, maaaaan.
- going on an x-files monster of the week episode to track down a curse that’s dooming the local businesses.
- shilling for the free market to come fix it all with its beatific invisible hand while standing in a town so fucked over by economic embargoes and poverty that the local union leader is a corrupt toad with a plan to revitalize the region by gathering the work force into a nationalized worker owned drug enterprise of the legal and illegal varieties - and it still comes off as one of the more levelheaded economic decisions one could make in that situation.
- trying not to fucking kill yourself even though you have to live with that thought every single day.
- winning the trust of a 12 year old crackhead with a deadbeat dad by becoming a positive masculine role model.
- turning into a fascist you so can get buffs from drinking alcohol, and therefore becoming a raging alcoholic and having to walk up to important story events carrying half a liquor store in your inventory so you don’t have a mental breakdown or kill yourself from lack of morale whenever someone calls you out on your ethnonationalist bullshit.
it’s also - and i cannot stress this enough - about making sure you can find a tape to sing karaoke and make kim kitsuragi smile. it slaps. it’s real good writing.
i don’t know what else can say. pretty sure the game is on sale on steam now. anyway please play this absolute masterpiece and stan studio za/um for clear skin. ACAB.
#disco elysium#.txt#not sure if this is done yet i might add more thots later specifically about the world building

Defined by the Things She Loves: A Track-by-Track Breakdown of Taylor Swift’s 7th Studio Album, ‘Lover.’
Contrary to popular belief and misconception, Taylor Swift has always been more of a lover than a fighter. Yes, she can be a fighter, but only when she feels she has no choice. Often times, the combative side of her is brought out as a means to protect her ability to love. “Combat, I’m ready for combat. I say I don’t want that, but what if I do?” is how Swift opens up the vulnerable fifth track from her new album, Lover, titled “The Archer,” in which she explores her automatic defenses when things go well, because how can they possibly stay that way? This is an incessant fear of Swift’s, as seen through her personal diary entries included in the 4 different deluxe versions of the album. In deluxe album 2, there is an entry from 21-year-old Taylor that says: “This ridiculous thing happens to me when I’m this happy...I start feeling like karma will balance it all out by making something tragic happen.”
She then counters her own negative thinking: “But I’m trying to just show gratitude as much as I can. Every day, every minute. I’m grateful for being happy right this moment.” In the foreword for this album, Swift notes how a majority of these diary entries actually do document her taking a moment to cherish the small joys in her life: “I wrote about tiny details in my life in these diaries from a bygone age with such...wonderment. Intrigue. Romance. I noticed things and decided they were romantic, and so they were.” And not much has changed. Even on reputation (2017), an album that evokes a combative stance, or so it seemed to the naked eye, she still always finds the romance in life. Coincidentally, reputation is an album in which the general public took around 2 years to admit was actually good. In a lot of ways, it felt like the reputation era was deliberate in that sense, as if Taylor only trusted her loyal fans to get what she was trying to say and do, almost not wanting the skeptics and overly zealous critics to see what was underneath the armor. All the reviews of reputation slammed it as an album about her infamous feuds, and although they are of course addressed famously on songs such as “Look What You Made Me Do,” “I Did Something Bad,” and “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things,” and sprinkled a little more here and there throughout, that was more of a distraction to the actual inspiration: love. Almost every other track on reputation explores her anxiety and relief around her newfound relationship at the time with British actor Joe Alwyn. It’s really a love story about finding someone who sees you for who you really are, rather than how the world is painting you.
On Lover, Swift takes command of the paintbrush, trying to get the world to see her the way her “lover” and her fans have the whole time. In “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” from reputation, Swift sings, “deep blue, but you painted me golden.” On “Daylight,” Lover’s closer, she describes love as golden like daylight. “Step into the daylight and let it go,” she almost whispers. She’s shedding her snakeskin, and she is ready for people to see her in all her loving and golden glory.
Swift is a storyteller like no other pop singer this generation, and so it would feel wrong to skip any chapter of this beautiful story. And thus, please join me in the track-by-track breakdown of the triumphant and magical Lover.
01. I FORGOT THAT YOU EXISTED
“How many days did I spend thinking ‘bout how you did me wrong?” she opens the album, seemingly reflecting on the reputation era and image. She revels in the magical feeling of forgetting that someone who wronged you even existed; obviously not forever, but just for even a single moment when you’ve realized, “Ah, I’ve made it to indifference! How wonderful!” She laughs and becomes more playful as the song progresses, showing her relief, although not exactly her freedom. In a recent interview with CBS Sunday morning, Swift asserts, "You know, people go on and on about, like, you have to forgive and forget to move past something. No, you don't. You don't have to forgive and you don't have to forget to move on. You can move on without any of those things happening. You just become indifferent, and then you move on." This sentiment is evident throughout the song, and in the nonchalant way she ends it by going, “so...yeah...” As in, yes the drama has affected me, but I’ve come to terms with it, so let’s move on, shall we? And so, we shall!
02. CRUEL SUMMER
Sometimes, listening to a song can feel like electrocution. “Cruel Summer” is an immediate shock to the system following the bubbly first track. Suddenly, for 2 minutes and 58 seconds, we’re transported back into the anxiety of reputation, but through a different lens. Chronicling what seems to be a fraught start to her current relationship, Swift seems to be suffocating under her own emotions, trying to play it casual and cool, however against her nature. The production is astounding, and it is one of her most intriguing songs to date. Each lyric can be analyzed again and again from a new perspective, leaving you to wonder more and more. (And what so significant happened at a vending machine that she felt the need to include it in this story?) At the climax of the song, she admits that she can no longer keep her feelings secret, and has to risk telling him how she feels, even if that means losing him. “I scream, ‘for whatever it’s worth, I love you, ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?’” she shouts in the bridge. Earlier in the track she states that “devils roll the dice,” and after her dicey proclamation of love she tells the audience that “he looks up grinning like a devil,” as if he were to say, “Of course I love you back, I rolled the dice for it to be so, didn’t I?” The entire song can be interpreted in a multitude of ways, but one thing is certain: the summer may have been cruel, but it was all love come the fall.
03. LOVER
The best-received and final pre-release, the title track is an ode to her main muse for this album. “Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years?” she wonders, before asking to be with her lover forever and ever. She’s felt like she’s known him for almost her whole life, and wants to spend the rest of it with him, too. So much so that the bridge sounds like Swift’s (future? past? are they secretly married?) wedding vows, especially with the play on words for something borrowed and blue. The song even sounds like it’s being played by a wedding band with the use of live instruments. Although it has been pushed as a single and is destined to be a wedding song for many couples to come, I unfortunately cannot see it having the same success as Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” or “Perfect,” despite its superior lyrics and greater emotional depth. And why might that be, you ask? Great segue into the next track...
04. THE MAN
It’s really a staggering thought experiment to think of how Taylor Swift’s career would be perceived if she was a man. I could write a novel on this, but Taylor did a pretty good job of summing it up in a 3-minute pop song: if she was a man, she’d be THE man. This is without question the truth. The woman has 10 Grammys and countless other accolades, she has written her own music since the beginning of time (her third album, Speak Now [2010], was entirely self-written, no co-writers). Yet she is continually ridiculed and mocked for things for which men are praised. Swift sings the song slickly in her very comfortable alto-range, which feels purposeful. It feels oddly powerful to hear Taylor Swift sing the word “bitch” twice in one song, which not only hearkens back to her defense for the infamous Kimye call, but for a moment really highlights the distinguished usages of the word “bitch,” forcing you to really consider why we let men just get away with it. And yes, the song’s take on misogyny is pretty surface level, but Taylor herself only has to deal with it on such a level, so we have to work with what we’ve got. Either way, I don’t think I’ll ever be over the line, “I’d be just like Leo in Saint-Tropez.” Someone had to say it, and she did!
05. THE ARCHER
The third pre-release from Lover, “The Archer” is a slow-build examination of Swift’s role in her relationships, both with others and herself. We have never seen this side of Taylor, but it feels like we were waiting for it all along, like we needed it. It’s very rare that someone as successful as Swift lays out their deepest flaws and insecurities for the world, other than Lorde on “Liability,” also co-produced and written by Jack Antonoff. “I never grew up, it’s getting so old,” she says, echoing a common criticism of the way she has dealt with feuds or breakups publicly. “The Archer” is placed at track 5, a track that Swift has historically reserved for the most vulnerable song on the album. The bridge officially earns this spot; it is simple and simultaneously one of her best ever, as she transitions from, “They see right through me” to “Can you see right through me?” and then finally to an agonizing “I see right through me.” Swift’s self-awareness is painfully relatable, as she pleads, “help me hold onto you,” after each pre-chorus as an important reminder that sometimes we need to ask for help in order to grow.
06. I THINK HE KNOWS
It almost feels like whiplash going from the vulnerability of “The Archer” to a song that has the line, “He’s so obsessed with me, and boy, I understand!” But it’s a fun type of whiplash, as if Taylor is saying “wipe your tears and let’s skip down 16th avenue together.” What is admirable about Swift’s craft is that she is able to mature and cover maybe more sexual topics in her music while still keeping it discrete enough for her younger audience. “Where we gonna go? I think he knows,” feels like a wink to the camera (microphone?) moment. And yes, Taylor, we do know. Happy for you, girl.
07. MISS AMERICANA & THE HEARTBREAK PRINCE
Many deemed Lover’s second single, “You Need to Calm Down,” along with its Video of the Year winning music video, which explicitly outlines her support for LGBTQ rights, as an outright opportunistic ploy to win over liberal music consumers rather than a genuine showing of solidarity. The unflashy “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince” proves that Swift means business. The casual listener might not realize the subject matter right away as it masked underneath school tropes and cheerleader chants. Quite effectively, Swift uses high school as a metaphor for the current political state. This song could be better explained through a 7 page MLA formatted essay, but in short, it’d be helpful to take note of Swift’s recent explanation and regret for her silence during the 2016 election. The lyric “they whisper in the hallway, ‘she’s a bad, bad girl,’” echoes the similarities between Swift and Hillary Clinton that she outlined to Vogue. It is refreshing to hear Taylor write about something perhaps out of her comfort zone with the same eloquence and strength as she would about topics she’s been writing about for years, and her message is clear: she is against the current president and administration, and always has been. “Boys will be boys, then where are the wise men? Darling, I’m scared,” she sings frantically. Me too, Taylor.
08. PAPER RINGS
Quite like “Lover,” this song feels timeless. “Paper Rings” is a series of quips, connecting the moon being high to his friends, her cold wine to her cold shoulder, and feeling blue to the color they painted his brother’s wall. There’s quite a charming sigh after she chants that she will kiss him a third time “’cause you waited your whole life,” and then proceeds to proclaim that she would marry her lover even with paper rings. With the upbeat, musical number like rhythm and the line, “I hate accidents, except when we went from friends to this,” this track is destined to be in romantic comedy films until the end of time, as it should.
09. CORNELIA STREET
Out of all 18 tracks on Lover, “Cornelia Street” is the most reminiscent of Taylor’s staple songwriting, and self-written at that. A beautiful, lengthy retelling of the “sacred new beginnings” of her relationship, the song centers around the street on which she rented an apartment in 2016. She swears if she lost him, she’d never walk the street again. Once again, Taylor masters the ability to make extremely personal details feel completely universal; we all know what it’s like to associate a specific place or time with someone we love or lost, and how that link can never be fully broken. It’s hard to smell the scent of someone you no longer speak to, or hear their favorite song, or walk down the street where you shared something special. On top of the beautiful production, the way Taylor’s voice cracks right before the last chorus when she says, “I’d never walk Cornelia Street again,” is just an immediate tear duct trigger. You need proof that Swift can write on her own? Look no further.
10. DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS
Inspired by the Netflix film Someone Great (which was coincidentally inspired by Swift’s “Clean” from 1989 [2014], says writer and director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson), “Death By A Thousand Cuts” explores the pain of separating from someone, not because some tragic event happened that tore you apart, but because you naturally grew away from each other. “Gave you too much but it wasn’t enough / but I’ll be all right, it’s just a thousand cuts,” she tries to say casually. There is a unique mixture of production styles, and an absolutely mesmerizing bit of piano at the end of the hook. The echoing “my, my, my, my” in the beginning makes sense when it returns for the second half of the song, in which Swift lists all of the things taken up by this person. Though we know this song is not from personal experience, it shows that she can still write one hell of a breakup song.
11. LONDON BOY
A catchy, upbeat song filled with totally cliche tropes of London men, including British vernacular such as “I fancy you!” While some people are taking the song a bit too seriously, it is a fun track that shows just how head-over-heels she truly is with Joe Alwyn, as she giddily describes herself as a child when their eyes meet. “They say home is where the heart is, but that’s not where mine lives,” she croons. Although the meaning of the saying “home is where the heart is” would point to the fact that her home would actually be in London with her lover rather than where she’s from, it’s still a cute twist on the phrase.
12. SOON YOU’LL GET BETTER featuring The Dixie Chicks
Probably the saddest song Taylor has ever written, “Soon You’ll Get Better” is a mantra to her mother, Andrea, during her cancer relapse. (The Dixie Chicks, Andrea’s favorite artist, lend their beautiful harmonies). However, it is also a mantra to herself to get through the impossible. “Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus too,” “I know delusion when I see it in the mirror,” and “I just pretend it isn’t real” painfully show how Taylor is dealing with it. But she’s willing to go to any lengths for her mom as she sings, “I’ll paint the kitchen neon, I’ll brighten up the sky / I know I’ll never get it, there’s not a day that I won’t try.” One of the most heartbreaking moments comes in the bridge with the lyric “I hate to make this all about me, but who am I supposed to talk to?” She has said multiple times that she does not think she’ll ever perform the song live and that she cannot even listen to it. Anyone going through a similar situation can understand; it’s a very difficult song to get through without crying. And although the pain Taylor and her family must be going through is unimaginable, there is extreme bravery in sharing such a personal account that is also, unfortunately, a universal experience.
13. FALSE GOD
“False God” is a sultry and confident song about convincing herself and her partner that they can still make their relationship work despite all of the breaking points they’ve reached. “I’m New York City, I still do it for you, babe,” she states, reassuring the both of them that she shines like the brightest city in the world, and there’s no way he’s going to let that go...right? The track is elevated to another level by the saxophone in the chorus, and the way she almost trips over her words, somewhat offbeat with the track in the pre-chorus when she says, “They all warned us about times like this / they say the road gets hard and you get lost when you’re led by blind faith” feels like she’s guiding the listener through the uncertainty and desperation behind blind faith too.
14. YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN
Lover’s second single, “You Need to Calm Down,” is a song about dealing with people who just can’t mind their damn business, divided into three parts: the online bullying Taylor has received, the homophobia displayed outside of her concerts by Westboro Baptist protesters, and the constant comparisons between and competition projected onto different female artists. With its release during Pride month and an array of LGBTQ celebrities in the music video, casual listeners were extremely skeptical of Swift’s intentions, feeling as if she is only showing support for the LGBTQ community now because she thinks it will help advance her career. This judgment is misplaced for two reasons: 1) Swift started off in country music, and so the majority of her fanbase are from red states, so she has much more to lose than to gain, 2) clearly these people have not been paying attention; not only has Swift shown her support to the community in various ways throughout the years, but this is already her second time showing it through music, as she celebrates “you can want who you want, boys and boys and girls and girls” in 1989′s opening track, “Welcome to New York.” Again, she wants to show that she values love- all types of love- above all. Was Swift’s execution perfect? No. Were her intentions in the right place? Yes. Everyone’s been crying for Swift to be more outspoken, and she’s doing her best. And she has been continually showing avid support for The Equality Act, as she started a petition which she asks people to sign at the end of the video. And although I am straight and cisgender and thus everything I just said isn’t actually important, and what really matters is what her fans in the LGBTQ community have to say, I have seen many of them express feeling really seen by their favorite pop star because of this song, and isn’t that the most important part of it all? Taylor can definitely do more and do better, but it’s a genuine start.
15. AFTERGLOW
It’s been years of pleading...years of completely original outcries...”Write a song called ‘Maybe I’m The Problem’!’” Well, maybe she didn’t make that the title, but “Afterglow” is the closest thing we’re going to get. “Hey, it’s all me, in my head / I’m the one who burned us down, but it’s not what I meant / Sorry that I hurt you,” she apologizes, taking complete ownership for a blowout. “Fighting with a true love is boxing with no gloves,” she observes, as when you hurt someone you love so much you are also hurting yourself. Then she turns the fight on its head, making it for one another instead of with one another: “This ultraviolet morning light below tells me this love is worth the fight.” Lover is such an interesting album from Taylor Swift because we get to see the sides of her in love we haven’t before, and in “Afterglow” she shows us all sides: combative, overdramatic, reflective, apologetic, and reparative. So maybe it’s time to retire the joke, kids.
16. ME! featuring Brendon Urie
I don’t care what anyone says: spelling IS fun. And it’s truly tragic (yes, tragic) that Swift decided to remove such a bold assertion from the lead single, “ME!” right before the album’s release. When it comes to Swift, it seems like her critics are constantly waiting for her downfall, which in some way admits that they know she’s good. But what they fail to comprehend is that a songwriter can write serious, profound songs as well as songs that are just for a laugh or to make them feel good. Anytime Swift engages in the latter, it’s responded with aggressive amounts of “Taylor Swift sucks! This song is horrible!” And then when the full album comes out, they sigh, “Damn it, she doesn’t actually suck- just that one song does,” and await the next album cycle for her to prove them wrong again. It seems like Swift is the only one of her contemporaries to receive this treatment. (I wonder why? See: “The Man.”) Was “ME!” a great single choice? Not really. Is it one of the weakest songs on the album overall? Unfortunately, yes. But within the context of the album, following songs like “False God” and “Afterglow,” she’s trying to say, “Yeah, I’ve messed up, but I clean up my messes, and what we have is special because we are both individually special.” That’s a great message! Just because something might appeal to children doesn’t inherently make it childish. And you know what? You literally cannot spell ‘awesome’ without ‘me.’ (And by the way, Brendon Urie is actually the one who wrote the bridge, but alas, no one cares. I repeat, see: “The Man.”) Either way, the overwhelming ridicule over the lyric “spelling is fun” as if the girl was truly serious rather than just trying to be silly was simply ridiculous. I wish Taylor could have just let the haters hate and instead just shake shake shake, but she succumbed to their criticism. RIP spelling is fun, I still have you on the original copy of the single I bought on iTunes and will cherish you forever.
17. IT’S NICE TO HAVE A FRIEND
The shortest track on the album and the most hauntingly beautiful, “It’s Nice To Have A Friend” features a sample from students of Regent Park School of Music in Toronto. How fitting too, as it tells a tale of childhood love. Swift starts off the first verse by gently singing, “School bell rings, walk me home / sidewalk chalk covered in snow,” and then begins the final verse with, “Church bells ring, carry me home / rice on the ground, looks like snow.” The parallel between these verses highlights that at the end of the day, eternal love is really all about forever friendship, in all its forms.
18. DAYLIGHT
“Real love shines golden like starlight, and doesn’t fade or spontaneously combust. Maybe I’ll write a whole album about that kind of love if I ever find it,” Swift wrote in the prologue of the Red (2012) lyric booklet. Well, she did find it, as is evident throughout the entire album. But it’s stronger than starlight: “I once believed love would be burning red, but it’s golden like daylight,” she sings on the final track of this album. In a perfect closing, Swift describes this love as the light at the end of a “twenty-year dark night.” Now that she has this love, she doesn’t want to look at anything else; she just wants to soak it all in. “Daylight” is hope; it is the message that things always get lighter eventually as long as you let love in. That love can be from anywhere: a parent, a friend, a lover, a song, an album, an inspiration. But you have to let go of the darkness, even when it's all you’ve known for so long, in order to embrace the new. Taylor did that, and we can all follow the daylight she now emits as our guide.
“I want to be defined by the things that I love,” she declares in a spoken ending. And I believe that this celebration of love through Lover will not only define her professional career, but also her personal legacy.
DISCLAIMER - REVIEWER’S BIAS: Taylor Swift is THE songwriter of our generation. This isn’t bias this is just a fact. Why Are You Booing Me I’m Right dot jpeg.

An Unexpected Insight
A/N: I interrupt the normal (if sparse and irregular) fanfics with a Mr Love fanfic I wrote for the Mid Year Contest! This is my first Mr Love fanfic and it didn’t go through a beta-reader, so please be kind to me.
It's a story I made up for Gavin and MC's high school time inspired by the Campus Date. Comments and constructive criticism are welcome as per usual :D

There was something about autumn that tinged everything with a touch of warm color, like a painter had brushed everything with a brush dipped in yellow-orange paint. The park that I cut through on the way back from school was an especially good example of this. Home to countless trees shedding their leaves, the whole scenery before me was bathed in a luxurious golden hue. However, today, there was an extra delight waiting for me amongst the beautiful yellow and red leaves.
As I passed by one of the few maidenhair trees in the park, my ears perked up at a series of high-pitched barking. My head spun wildly around, trying to locate the source of the sound until I found it under the shade provided by the leafy branches. “Oh, look at you!” I squealed at the sight of a small puppy in a box next to the tree trunk, yapping for all it was worth. Running towards it at first, then as I approached I slowed my steps down, gauging its reaction to my proximity. Thankfully, it didn’t seem scared of me at all. Rather, its response was the opposite. If dogs could smile, this one definitely was, and I could see excitement dancing in its dark brown eyes.
Crouching down next to the box, I held out my hand for it to sniff. The box was quite large, and the tiny thing could barely hook its front paws over the edge. Nevertheless, it leaned forward to smell my hand, and quickly started to lick my palm all over. The sensation of its wet, rough tongue made me giggle uncontrollably. “Hey, that tickles!”
After spending some time petting and playing with it, I gathered the courage to lift the puppy out of the box. It was only then that I noticed two bowls; one white and the other blue in color in the corner of the thick cardboard box. “So, someone is taking care of you, after all,” I commented to no one in particular, noting that some of the water and food left in the bowls had been consumed. Now that it was free of its four-walled confines, the puppy was even more excitable than before. It was hard for me to double-check under its fur, but I confirmed it after struggling a little with the puppy; it wasn’t wearing any collar.
For a while I played with the adorable baby dog, letting it stretch its legs for a bit by allowing it to run around the tree. As the sky was growing dark, I had to regretfully return it to its box and rush back home. “You don’t have an owner, but someone is looking after you,” I thought to myself as I walked away. “Hmm.”
Every afternoon after school was spent in the park with the little puppy from then on. I refrained from giving it a name, wary of growing attached to it. Yet I found myself falling in love with it anyway. Naturally, I wondered who was feeding it. The bright yellow ginkgo leaves were gradually making their way towards the ground as days passed, and at some point, I noticed that the big box was newly lined with some thick blanket, giving the puppy warmth in the progressively cooling days and nights. However, I never managed to even catch a glimpse of this mysterious caretaker. My curiosity on the matter grew each day, but I always managed to miss this person somehow, even when I came earlier than I usually would on the weekend.
The golden opportunity for me to unravel this mystery popped up unexpectedly just two days later, when I was stopping by on my way home from school as usual. Lifting the puppy up into my arms, I immediately noticed that the bowls had not been filled like they usually were. “Oh!” I eyed the empty containers more excitedly than I would look at bowls filled with diamonds. “The person didn’t come here yet?” I asked the puppy. As if it understood me perfectly, it let out a sad whine, making my heart cry out for it. “Are you hungry?” It tilted its head adorably in response, but of course, it didn’t say anything. Then it began to fight its way out of my embrace.
At first, I was confused. I thought we had built a rapport this past ten days, so why did it want to get away from me? “Oh! Do you need to relieve yourself?” Sure enough, once I lowered it down to the ground, it quickly sped off to the tree after next to do its business. Watching from afar, I chuckled to myself. Good thing I figured it out in time, otherwise it might have let itself go all over me. As I kept an eye on it so that it didn’t venture out of my sight, I considered buying it some food. But what if the unknown person who had been feeding it came while I was gone? Crossing my arms and tapping my foot in thought, I turned the options over and over in my mind. I’d been dying to meet this person ever since I’d met the puppy. On the other hand, I didn’t want the poor animal to starve.
I stood there for a while, watching the baby dog prance around, then finally decided on a compromise. There was still over an hour before I had to go home. At the moment, the puppy seemed more eager to play around than it was to eat. So, I made up my mind to wait until the very last minute possible for the person to show up, giving myself just enough time to run and buy some food if he or she ended up not coming. Recalling the nearest pet store that I knew, I mentally calculated the distance and time it would take for me to run to the shop and get back.
Resolution made, I sighed in relief, taking a seat on the bench conveniently placed underneath the lush branches. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep. The pleasant weather and peaceful atmosphere at the park made it the perfect place for an afternoon nap.
If I hadn’t heard some rustling and felt a light breeze sweeping over me, I might never have woken up until it was too late. As it was, the chill jolted me awake, reaching to wrap my light sweater more tightly around my body reflexively. My sudden jostling must have been startling, because it caused a jumping movement next to me, drawing my attention immediately.
Crouched down beside me was a young man with straight brown hair, sporting the uniform from the same high school I attended, scratching the puppy under its chin. At first, I couldn’t see his face, and when I peered downwards to take a peek, he dipped his head down even further, groaning out loud at being discovered. Deciding that revealing his identity was inevitable, he lifted his chin up. Upon seeing his face, my heart leapt with shock, then my head tilted in confusion and after that, my body contracted a little with fear.
“Uhm… Gavin?” He and I weren’t in the same class, so I’d heard about him from other students rather than know him personally. The things I’d heard so far weren’t very encouraging. He was infamous as a troublemaker, not only in our school, but it was considered general knowledge around the whole area. My classmates had whispered among themselves about how he was always getting into fights, not just with fellow students and teachers, but with the less savory characters around the neighborhood as well. These gossips were repeated loudly in my head like an involuntary warning siren as my eyes looked him over. Fresh cuts and bruises on his face and hands were indisputable proof of the rumors. Did he just get out of a fight? Even though I was scared, I managed to ask, “Are you okay?”
“Huh?” He responded, befuddled by my question. Unsure how to answer him, I started to reach for one of the cuts on his handsome face. Before I could touch him, he backed away, as though he was the more frightened one between the two of us. “Yeah, I’m fine,” he said gruffly.
Not daring to prod him further, I gazed around for another topic. “Oh!” I saw that the bowls had been filled up. “Are you the one who has been feeding the puppy?”
Instead of answering, he bristled, like a threatened dog. It made me want to laugh, despite myself. Gavin was unexpectedly cute. “What’s it to you?”
“I was just wondering why he hasn’t taken it home, instead of taking the time to come and feed it here every day,” I shrugged, pretending I didn’t know it was him.
“My apartment doesn’t allow pets,” Gavin answered, then flinched when he realized that he’d given himself away. Turning to me defensively, he reflected the question back to me. “What about you? Why haven’t you taken it home instead of playing with it here every day?”
My mouth gaped in surprise. Had he been watching me? I never noticed. However, I knew that he would probably jump ten paces back if I let on that I’d noticed his slip-up. While that would be beyond amusing to watch, strangely I didn’t want to drive him away. “My father is allergic to fur.” I smiled apologetically. “It’s really nice of you to look after it, though.”
Gavin stood up, refusing to meet my eyes. Was he… blushing? It must be the wind, I told myself. It was pretty windy today. My cheeks felt a little raw from it, too. At least he wasn’t running away. After a pause, he cleared his throat. “The shelter looks overcrowded. And this puppy is already so tiny. If I let it get any skinnier than it is, some naughty kids and bigger dogs are gonna bully it.”
Lips pursed, I looked down at the puppy, noting the happy wag in its tail, its sleek coat of fur and healthy body. It wasn’t skinny at all. I smiled to myself. Although I’d heard stories about Gavin bullying weaker students, here he was, wanting to ensure that a defenseless animal wouldn’t get hurt. “You’re really kinder than I thought.”
“What?”
I lifted my chin up, then shook my head, not wanting to repeat what I’d murmured under my breath. “Can I help you take care of it?” I asked without much thought. Although Gavin still scared me, I couldn’t deny that he was intriguing.
“There’s no need for two people to care for it. Plus, I found someone who’s gonna take it in after they finish renovating their house in a week or two,” Gavin’s answer was blunt and reflexive, as if he was used to being on his own and pushing everyone away. He paused, then stole a look at me from the corner of his eye. “But if you really want to… I guess that’s fine.” His agreement brought a smile to my face, but it made him pricklier than ever. “I gotta go.” Without giving me a chance to answer, he dashed off like the wind, falling gingko leaves fluttering about in his wake.
I watched him leave in silence, immersed in thought. Gavin might be dangerous and unapproachable, but maybe he wasn’t as horrible as the rumors made him out to be. Even if he wasn’t kind to humans, at least he was kind to animals. Someone like that surely couldn’t be all that bad.

All for Endeavor & Dabi u v u
Thanks for always bringing me the good shit, Bukii. Since I tend to ramble, this will be broken up into two parts so expect Dabi’s post to come shortly after this one! That’s right, we’re starting with flame daddy! (Warning: one nsfw picture in this post)
1. Sleep: Enji is a big man with a big personality and, as such, he sleeps all sprawled out regardless of whether he has a bed partner or not. He takes up a lot of space and makes no apologies for it. Thats just who he is, so if you’re going to join him for a good nights rest, you’d better be prepared to get jostled around a little bit and maybe even squished when he rolls over on top of you. There won’t be much wiggle room to work with but that shouldn’t be too big of a problem considering what a good bodypillow he’d make. Even though he’s a solid 260 pounds of muscle mass, he still looks meaty enough to have some give and I think having his body curled around yours would be incredibly comforting. The only drawback is that I think his temperature is naturally higher than the average so it would be very easy to get overheated like this. Summer in particular would be excruciatingly hot and I imagine you’d find yourself sleeping naked more often than not, but he certainly wouldn’t have any complaints about that. He does snore but, for better or worse, he’s a very sound sleeper so if you can block out the noise, you won’t have to worry about him tossing and turning constantly. The best strategy would probably be to wait for him to zonk out and then drape yourself over him, using his chest or stomach as a pillow, so that you’re free to adjust your position when you start to get too warm.
2. Sad: Enji is not someone whose very open with his emotions and I think this one in particular would be among his most guarded. Not only is he reluctant to show any signs of weakness but he also wouldn’t be too keen on letting people into his mind like that, out of self perseverance more than anything else. He’d have to be extremely comfortable with you and trust you implicitly to ever open about something that made him sad but it would be a pivotal moment in any relationship, whether romantic or platonic. I think that, if anything, it would be his insecurities as a hero and as a man that would surface in this regard, i.e, “why am I not good enough?”. He has worked very hard to become the best, perhaps even to point of madness, but yet he still wasn’t able to surpass All Might on equal terms and that clearly upsets him quite a bit. If he did open up to you about these kinds of things, it would be a huge mistake on your part to offer him sympathy. He doesn’t want that, especially not in regards to an already touchy subject. With him its more about listening and understanding where he’s coming from while he sorts through these emotions that are usually kept bottled up and it can become quite tumultuous indeed.
3. Happy: Enji, in the true spirit of a Leo, is happiest when he’s in the spotlight. Not only is he naturally drawn to being the center of attention but he also works extremely hard to earn his spot there, which has perhaps given him a slightly inflated sense of entitlement about how he deserves to be there more than others. Rather than just stroking his ego, I think this drive to be the best would have followed him into any career, whether that be something as mundane as dentistry or even another hero-like profession such as a firefighter. Although this might be a slightly self indulgent opinion, I think he’s fine standing at the top alone but I do believe that what would make him the happiest is finding someone to share the stage with as equals, or something close to it. He’s not opposed to a challenge by any means and I think being able to put on an extravagant show of his prowess would delight him to no end. Being able to prove that he’s truly the best makes him feel accomplished which is why his inability to surpass All Might, no matter how much work he put in, affected him so negatively.
4. Angry/Violent: Enji comes off as a rather aggressive person but I think thats mostly just his personality (gruff, blunt and to the point) and we’ve really only gotten a very brief glimpse of what true anger from him looks like. He also seems like someone who would be easy to set off and, while that might be true in regards to certain topics, I actually believe he’s a fairly levelheaded person in that he’s not going to go critical if someone accidentally steps on his boot in a crowded room. What seems to get him going the most is a sense of inadequacy in which his personal shortcomings weigh heavy on his shoulders and thats understandable when you’ve put in as much effort as he has. However once he finally reaches that snapping point, it is anything but a pretty sight. In addition to lashing out physically and putting holes in the walls or destroying his own belongings, I see him being a screamer. Its hard for me to say, in the case of an interpersonal fight, if he would yell insults at the other person or if he’d just bellow in rage but it would be an intense situation either way. Like I said though, if you were close enough that he trusted you, I think this situation could possibly be diffused but if you’re already on bad terms with the guy, then I’d suggest you get out of dodge. Quickly.
5. Sex: Enji is a domineering man in every sense of the word and given that he treats the whole world as his personal stage, I see no reason why the bedroom would be any different. Truly, he is the king of his kingdom and he expects to be in charge from the get go to the end. You could try to dethrone him, of course, and maybe he’d even let you think you were getting the upper hand for a little while, but rest assured that he will inevitably flip the tables on you at some point and remind you exactly who the boss is. Rather than being inclined to go gentle or hard, he seems to me like the type who simply does everything from the perspective of ownership. If he decides that he’s going to fuck you slow and steady, then he is going to make sure that you’re writhing against him and begging for release before the night is through. Maybe even multiple times throughout the night. But if he decides he’s going to break you in half then, well … hopefully you don’t have to be anywhere in the morning. Its really dependent on his mood, what kind of experience he’s up for and just how loud he wants to hear you scream this time. While he would definitely still find pleasure in watching you lose yourself on his cock, his priority will always be his own needs above anyone else’s and he is certainly a bit of a selfish lover. But by no means does that imply you wont walk away from this completely and utterly satisfied. He does strive to be the best after all, which means that his performance is by no means lacking.
6. Living Quarters: Enji likes things to be clean, tidy and a little bit extravagant. He’s clearly got expensive tastes if his office was anything to go by, so I can only imagine what the inside of his house looks like. Expensive furniture from the best of the best interior designers, one of a kind paintings on the walls and occasionally questionable sculptures in the garden, hand towels no one is allowed to use, top of the line technology in almost every room and a personal gym outfitted with the very best equipment money can buy. However, based on what little we’ve seen of the Todoroki estate, he seems to be a fan of traditionally Japanese things so all of thpse luxuries he enjoys so much have got to be blended in almost seamlessly with the minimalist aesthetic of his mansion style home. My mind is painting a very modern take on the classic, and I think its gotta’ be just beautiful to see in person.
7. Romantic: Enji isn’t much of a romanticist in the typical sense, but I do believe that if you’ve managed to catch his interest then he will make sure you know it. Showing someone that he truly cares for them seems to be one of the things he struggles with the most and he’d probably goof up every once in a while as a result, so you’ll have to be prepared to travel this bumpy road together. Since he does appear to enjoy throwing his money around, I’d imagine he’d treat you to the best five star restaurants in town (maybe even a few on the other side of the country), take you out shopping and on trips to the most highly rated onsen, and even gift you expensive presents. In particular, I think he’d be quite fond of sending you delightfully sinful lingerie sets in the mail and then take you out that same evening with the full knowledge you were wearing them for him. But again, what everything boils down to is his own enjoyment in this relationship and he isn’t likely to do much just for the sake of it. As such, there might be times where you wonder if he actually does care about you or not, and you might even start to feel like a bought woman. This is where his inability to be open about his emotions becomes a bit of an issue but if you can work through that, then I don’t see any reason why this should be a deal breaker.
8. Family & Friends: Enji is, again, not the best about being transparent when it comes to this kind of stuff. I think he does care about his family on a certain level, as it is his and he likely recognizes its importance, but he doesn’t seem to know how to show that. Not to mention the fact that he undoubtedly let his heated rivalry with All Might cloud his judgement and he made mistakes that hurt those closest to him. Recent developments seem to imply that he’s realized the error of his ways and now we just need to see how he goes about trying to amend it. But my point is that by no means do I think he’s some kind of monster who got off on mistreating his family. He seems to have a very solid foundation for right and wrong, and I’m sure that if he came upon someone abusing their family he would put a stop to it immediately, but when you become obsessed with a singular goal like he did, its so easy to lose sight of your personal morality. I’m not justifying his actions or saying that he was in the clear to act however he wanted, I just think he’s not quite the heartless demon a lot of people paint him to be and that he does, indeed, love his family in his own little way.
9. Hobbies: Enji strikes me as the sort to be into more traditional hobbies like sumo, shogi or go, and all manner of martial arts. I could also see him enjoying a nice day at the horse tracks. Unfortunately he doesn’t get a lot of down time to enjoy many hobbies so I think whatever he does enjoy occupying his time with has to be relatively simple and easy to access.
10. Likes/Dislikes: Enji likes being the center of attention, being praised and or put on a pedestal, simple elegance and extravagant displays of wealth, calm moments when he can let his guard down and the finer things in life. He dislikes outright disrespect, being bested in any way, shape or form, being treated like an inferior and wasting his time.
11. Childhood: Enji, in my opinion, probably had a childhood similar to the one he raised Shoto in. Again, this is no excuse, but I think for him to believe that training your five year old son to the point of being physically ill was fine and dandy, he must have experienced a similar upbringing. That is to say, I would not be at all surprised if his father was extremely tough and demanding of him, pushing him well to the breaking point, and just generally expecting more out of him than he could give. This might not be what some of you want to hear, but unfortunately this is often how things go in the more traditionally aligned Japanese families - especially the wealthy ones. There is a certain amount of expectations placed on the men of the household to be better than the last generation and this often culminates in the form of not allowing them much of a childhood at all. I think Enji probably grew up swearing that he would be better than that but at some point his perception of reality was so clouded by his desire to surpass All Might that he just sort of fell into that mindset. Maybe without even realizing it. I subscribe to this idea because it also explains why his personality is so rough and generally off putting to most people. He was likely raised in a harsh environment so he became harsh as a result.
12: Old Age: Enji probably has no desire to retire at any point as he’s poured every ounce of himself into his career and I wouldn’t be surprised if he expects to die in the line of duty at some point. Whether that be from not knowing what else to do with his life or from a sense of wanting to go down in history as a hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice, its hard to say. Either way, he doesn’t strike me as the sort whose mapping out his 401k and looking at cozy cottages in the mountains. However, if he were forced into retirement through one means or another, then that would be an entirely different story. But thats also nothing but conjecture on my part so we’ll have to wait and see what happens in canon. I do think it would be nice if he found the peace of mind to hand off the torch to someone who wants to take up his mantle so he can relax and make up for lost time with his family. If his redemption arc can actually feature, y’know. An actual redemption, I would prefer to see that over him dying in what would simply amount to a revenge killing to mollify the part of the fandom that hates him with a burning passion. Allowing him to grow old and watch his children flourish in ways that he didn’t sounds like the best possible outcome to me.
13: Cooking: Enji does not cook. He has neither the time nor the interest. But thats not to say he doesn’t enjoy a good meal and, in fact, he’s more than willing to shell out exorbitant amounts of money to indulge on fine dining. I see him being a very big fan of expensive steakhouses and he’d likely be quite knowledgeable when it comes to wine. That being said, it takes a lot of food to maintain that brickhouse physique of his so I imagine the kitchen at home is fully stocked with all the best ingredients and any housekeepers he staffs are likely kept quite busy between him and his two children that are still living at home.
14: Random: Enji’s favorite positions are the Torch (ironically enough) because it just makes you feel so damn tight around him and the fact its a perfect position to relentlessly slam your g-spot is just mere coincidence. Mhm. He knows what he’s doing.
The Prison Guard because, well, I shouldn’t have to explain this one.
And my personal favorite, the Full Nelson (sorry, I couldn’t find this one on the other site)
If you asked him where he stood on kinky sex, Enji would scoff and tell you that it was none of your business but once you get him in the bedroom, it will quickly become apparent that this man is just as much of a dom as you’d expect him to be. He’s down for M/s, petplay, bondage, just about any kind of humiliation you can think of and, if you ask nicely enough, he’d even incorporate some daddy dom aspects just for you. Keep in mind that everything truly revolves around him, especially when its just the two of you, so he expects to have your full attention and what better way to accomplish that than literally dominating you into submission? Sounds like a good time to me.

Call Me by Your Name" – A love story fueled by strangers' chemistry
“You’ll be meeting in the man cave”, the publicist said, pushing open the door to the ground floor of a villa set in the lush gardens of the Sunset Marquis.
Previous hotel guests have included members of Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses and Metallica, and while they might never have visited the man cave, it seemed to bear homage to them, or to hair metal, or to hetero teenage boys, or to something. It had a pool table, a guitar, plenty of booze, a framed print of a nude body-painted woman, and another of a skull enveloped in flames. Darkened windows kept out the California sun.
By any measure, it was a curious spot to interview Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer, the stars of Call Me by Your Name, due Nov. 24, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story about two young men who fall in love during an idyllic sunlit Italian summer decades ago.
Arriving at the cave moments later, Mr. Chalamet and Mr. Hammer took in the décor with a few chortles, and then Mr. Hammer beelined to the guitar and began strumming, as Mr. Chalamet threw himself onto a big L-shaped couch. The pair have fallen into an easy camaraderie that extends most places they go. For a good chunk of the film’s shoot last year in northern Italy, and in the days leading up to it, they were often the only ones who spoke English, which helped them forge a connection that crackles through their scenes. They have also been promoting the film together, on and off, since its triumphant premiere earlier this year at Sundance, where it sent festivalgoers into a swoon.
“It’s gotten to the point”, Mr. Hammer said, where we finish each others’ ——”
“—— sentences”, Mr. Chalamet chimed in.
“Sandwiches”, Mr. Hammer replied.
In the film, which is based on the 2007 novel of the same title by André Aciman, Mr. Chalamet plays Elio, a whipsmart 17-year-old American-Italian who lives with his family in an Italian villa, and Mr. Hammer plays Oliver, a 24-year-old American graduate student who arrives to intern with Elio’s professor father for the summer. Elio is immediately intrigued by Oliver, and soon finds himself torturously in love, and fruitlessly trying to fight it, at least at first. Set in 1983, and directed by Luca Guadagnino, whose previous films include last year’s A Bigger Splash and I Am Love (2010), the film is languid and intoxicating, a visual feast of dappled light, polo shirts and era-appropriate songs, from the Psychedelic Furs and the soundtrack to Flashdance.
Mr. Guadagnino is a master at hitting all five senses, which is one of the reasons critics have warmly embraced the film.
“It is more a terrarium of human experience, a sensory immersion that is remarkably full in its vision”, Richard Lawson wrote in Vanity Fair. He continued, “Each shot is busy with existence, but Guadagnino does not overwhelm”.
What also makes the story quietly remarkable, especially for a film that has traction in the awards race, is that it is simply about two young men who fall for each other, without menacing rednecks wanting to pulverize them or a ravaging disease lurking in wait. “It’s just a love story, and it’s really humanizing”, Mr. Hammer said. “No one gets beat up, no one gets sick, no one has to pay for being gay”.
Though the lovers’ age difference has drawn some attention, the film has largely been a source of deep gratification for its key players. It represents a return to the screen for James Ivory, 89, who wrote the screenplay with echoes of his 1987 love story, Maurice. It is making a name for Mr. Chalamet, who is 21 and strongly tipped for an Oscar nomination. And for Mr. Hammer, 31, the time spent making the film in Italy was, he said, “the most transformative experience” of his professional life.
“I’ve never experienced total immersion like that”, Mr. Hammer said. “I’ve never experienced a sense of safety like that. I’ve never experienced a sense of making yourself so accessible and vulnerable”. He added, “It opened my eyes to a whole new sense of understanding, and life, and what it is to be human”.
He and Mr. Chalamet were cast separately and did not set eyes on each other until they met in Italy, on the set. Mr. Guadagnino said he felt so deeply connected to each actor individually “that I took it for granted they must have a great connection too”.
Mr. Guadagnino found Mr. Chalamet “ingenious”, ambitious and intent on challenging himself in roles, he said, adding, “He never goes for the easy way. He goes the very complicated way”. And the director had been angling to work with Mr. Hammer since the actor appeared as the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network in 2010. “He carries a sense of infectious seductiveness to him, and a buoyancy, and a beauty”, Mr. Guadagnino said. “But it is also intertwined with a very beautiful internal turmoil”.
He was proved right with the actors’ chemistry – their characters’ attraction is shot through with a fraught competitiveness – even though Mr. Chalamet and Mr. Hammer are as strikingly different in person as they are onscreen.
“It was the luck of the universe, or something, that there was just a natural bond as humans”, Mr. Chalamet said.
Mr. Chalamet is slight and pale, a bundle of boyish energy and birdlike alertness, with a delicate face topped by a black tumble of curls. He grew up in Hell’s Kitchen, the son of a former Broadway dancer and a French editor, attended LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, and appeared in Homeland, Interstellar and the Off Broadway play Prodigal Son.
Mr. Hammer is 6-foot-5, with Ken-doll features (“the textbook guy for shaving-cream commercial looks”, noted GQ), a sardonic mien, and a voice that booms with assuredness and authority. His great-grandfather was an oil tycoon, and he grew up in the Cayman Islands and Los Angeles. He said he wanted to be an actor after seeing Home Alone, when he was 12.
Mr. Chalamet, who also appears in Greta Gerwig’s new film, Lady Bird, said he was drawn to the role because it felt like “an honest look into a young person’s existence”.
“Nobody knows me”, he said, with a laugh, “so it didn’t feel like too much of a risk because it didn’t feel like my performance in this sort of piece of work was being compared to anything else”.
Mr. Hammer had greater trepidation, and was not sure if he was good enough for such a stripped-down, emotionally honest film, with no set pieces or special effects. “This movie lives and dies in the moments between these characters”, he said. There was also a lot of nudity in the original script, though it was revised, and Mr. Hammer, somehow, had never done a sex scene.
He is also a relative newcomer to smaller-budget films. After his appearance in The Social Network, he landed major roles in movies like The Lone Ranger (2013) and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015). But Mr. Hammer found the box-office expectations stifling and the Hollywood machine depressing. “It was like, ‘He’s tall, he’s conventionally handsome, so let’s put him in these big movies and try to build this brand’” he said, “and it just didn’t work”.
He resolved to make smaller films, and his first one was last year’s The Birth of a Nation, which ended up being bittersweet for him, too. The drama, about Nat Turner’s slave rebellion, sold for a record $17 million at Sundance, but was engulfed in controversy after decades-old rape allegations against the filmmaker and star, Nate Parker, emerged. It was a crushing experience that Mr. Hammer said he was still recovering from.
“It seemed clear-cut to me that there was a lot of atoning and apologizing that needed to happen that just didn’t”, Mr. Hammer said, his voice catching. “And that was really tough because we watched this movie that we did, that we all felt was important, just kind of drift away”. (The film’s fall did not dent his career, and while promoting Call Me by Your Name, Mr. Hammer was also filming On the Basis of Sex, a movie starring Felicity Jones as Ruth Bader Ginsburg.)
In the meantime, both men say they have been relishing promoting this film, even if some reactions come from left field, like a tweet by the actor James Woods suggesting the age difference between the characters was pedophilic. “Didn’t you date a 19-year-old when you were 60?” Mr. Hammer wrote back, in a tweet that went viral, to his great surprise. (Mr. Woods began dating a 19-year-old when he was 59.)
“I didn’t think anybody really cared what I said, I didn’t think anybody cared what James Woods said, you know?” Mr. Hammer said.
Mr. Guadagnino said any chatter about the age difference amounted to an “artificial topic”. No one took issue with the age difference in the 1987 film Dirty Dancing, he pointed out, where Jennifer Grey was playing a 17-year-old and Patrick Swayze’s character was 24. Also in Call Me by Your Name, he said, it is Elio who goes after Oliver. “The person who chases is 17”, he said.
Mr. Hammer recalled another surprising reaction. “Someone mentioned to me: ‘Timothée has to put his hand on your crotch in the movie. How did that feel?’ And I was like, do you ask every woman in a movie how it is to have her ass slapped, or her boobs fondled? It’s that double standard kind of thing”.
Mr. Chalamet interjected, “I’ve been very encouraged by the nature of the conversations that I’ve had, and by the lack of questions that are tunnel-visioned in their understanding of sexuality and life and love”.
Mr. Hammer said, “Because the reality is, Timmy grabs my crotch all the time”.

I know it sounds absolutely insane, and believe me, I know it does, but my heart would be absolutely shattered if Destiel isn’t canon. I first started watching SPN last year when I started having anxiety attacks and they’ve helped me so much, and I just feel so much love for them, almost like they’re real people. And I just feel so alone because most people on tumblr are like “Oh, I’m pretty sure they won’t be endgame, I’ll be fine we’ll always have fanfic” and it’s like I’m glad I have fanfic
(PT 2) I’m glad we have fanfic, but canon matters to me, as much as I try to deny it. I know it’s probably unhealthy to be so attached to them, but they’ve helped me so much and I’ve genuinely never fallen this hard for a ship before. Idk, I just don’t think I’d ever be able to move on if they aren’t endgame. I try to hold out hope and I get so happy when I read meta, but I’m really scared Danneel’s character will be Dean’s endgame. I know it sounds selfish but I’d rather he’d not end up with
(PT 3) anyone at all than end up with some random female character at the end of the show.
Hi there
There’s a ton of stuff out there already said about how they aren’t thinking about romance for these characters, about how they have no plans to do that, and also good posts from other people trying to calm things down and reassure everyone that we don’t know what’s going to happen yet but we shouldn’t assume immediately she’ll be a love interest JUST because she’s Jensen’s wife as well as being an actress in her own right. I don’t really want to get deep into it because I find it unlikely and talking about these things really just flames panic because people can so easily be like “what if anon is right and the person answering is just trying to mollify them!!” but it didn’t seem right to not answer you at all >.>
I feel the same about having very rarely ever felt a ship as GOOD as this one and how important it is to me. I get how you feel completely but I’m way less worried these days after being in fandom for ages and seeing how the story is going, not because I’m sure it’s heading towards a happy ending, but because by this point I’m 100% certain that what we’ve seen in canon so far is *justifiably real* in the sense that while it’s all interpretation and personal view on it all, it’s coming from a very real place within the text, beyond the teasing and jokes of the early seasons to something really real in the text for the last 4-5 years where the romantic element is at the very least a solid part of the subtext. I know that *whatever* they do they can’t make that go away and Dean and Cas will *always* have been in love with each other in the core narrative of the show. I think that’s what makes them so good and compelling - for a non-canon ship it’s not like they’re in the unrequited staring and teasing stage that a lot of them seem to stop at and they haven’t been for years, even if it’s been pretty tumultuous in that time.
That’s something that no one can take away from me because I don’t have a doubt that the show hasn’t made itself completely available for that reading and it’s a very strange sort of shipping perhaps where sometimes it feels like 99% of what I want from the ship is already there, and we’re just missing confessions and kisses but after that they’d basically just carry on as they are.
Dabb’s comment makes me kinda feel like the low low weasley NEW worst case scenario ending now we’ve breezed past “You’re our brother Cas” in 11x23 and Cas dead at Dean’s feet in 12x23, has been upgraded 2 ranks to the previous 3rd worst ending (improvement! :P) the show ending where neither of them have a love interest, they’re hypothetically available and hanging out together, but no declaration has been made despite the blatant narrative evidence they’re married. I sort of don’t really factor in “with other love interests” as a plausible ending and I didn’t before Dabb’s comment but now I’ve taken it off the list, or locked it in a black box with a skull painted on it and chains around it for “god tier worst case scenario ending” but not really one I feel in my bones, just a nightmare that haunts the fandom.
And it’s REALLY HARD shaking these fandom nightmares. The bitterness about characters and ships spreads and no one can say what WILL happen just what we feel will so the nightmares can’t be banished until the show gets rid of them (like the 2 worst case scenario endings we’ve already ticked off and got out the way to carry on from). And of course the only way to really get rid of them forever is to end the show and treat the ship right. So. Yeah. Fandom nightmares continue >.> I wish there was something I could say to make it all better especially when it means so much to you because my heart would be broken too and I think I’m trying to have reasonable hopes as in I’m positive for the emotional outcome but trying to keep a healthy scepticism about the canon thing so I don’t run wild with it and get accused of getting other people’s hopes up, and I know it would make it hurt more for me, so it makes me focus more on the immediate moment and what I’m enjoying now. Because as much as I’d like to tell you not to worry about endgame I think avoiding worrying about it is more how I’m going :P I focus on the positives and try and sort out the negatives into likely and unlikely and be really careful about weighing what everyone’s saying before *feeling* any of these things.
There’s usually a few people talking objectively about anything on my dash, people like @ozonecologne, @mittensmorgul, @ibelieveinthelittletreetopper or @justanotheridijiton who can be relied to make a good picture of what you should be feeling about a thing when you collect up their takes on it and see a reasoned out middle ground on any topic. When I say I scrolled my dash to see if “anyone” was talking about something when an anon asks, it’s usually those guys in one combination or another I’m hoping to see making posts about it before I get back to my inbox as they usually get asks or comment on/snark about current events in fandom/spec. To me stuff like their takes on Danneel’s casting, as an example, is less “giving something to hold out hope for” and more evaluating the situation and giving as much info as possible about how to look at it rationally, by talking about what we know about the character, the casting and who she’ll be acting with (Lucifer apparently) and fandom history with these sort of panics.
But anyway to me the Danneel wank is an immediate thing I can be reassuring about, the endgame is another issue, and I still haven’t figured out if I’m having any effect with trying to impart my own coolness about it. Because of course it means the world to me, but I’ve seen enough of fandom to see how the fandom nightmares about endgame and canon and character treatment can destroy someone who doesn’t manage their expectations because week to week things can seem like they’re pronouncing a doom on the whole show, and in that atmosphere mass panic can spread and individual wanky people with a platform can cause a lot of damage and sow doubt and mistrust in the fandom. Especially about the people like me who love the show every much as deeply as them, but are enjoying it week to week for its positives and taking its negatives in a measured way. If you see a bunch of panic about Danneel eventually it’s going to set in that this is a thing to panic about and then it spirals to the whole endgame idea. If you can feel okay about the one small thing, hopefully the entire picture is easier to handle you know?
And I’ve been surfing through these fandom panics since season 10 and almost ALL of the worst case scenarios other people model haven’t come to pass, like Cas x Hannah or Dean x Amara or all the smaller freak outs about characters who weren’t even teased romantically with them in the narrative but still got the freak out. I’ve just got really really used to my knee jerk to female character casting to not be “Oh no she’ll marry Dean and that’s the end” to “oh boy here comes the fandom panic” which isn’t necessarily less negative but at least it’s not putting negativity into my enjoyment of the show? Bleh :P
I’m sorry this is so long - your comment about anxiety and investment really hit me because I know how it feels, I’m very anxious about a lot of stuff and my entire approach to fandom and the show is learned and a sort of self-care practice to stay invested and stay positive and happy about it and NOT to become one of the many cases of fandom burn out. Because back in season 10 before I managed that I was seeing so much random panic and it always gave me an anxiety spike, and it was only reading the sensible voices and learning to have a measured response instead of following the loudest voice in the room creating the most compelling narrative - and fear can be very compelling in the sort of horror movie way in these cases - that I ever learned to recognise what was panic, what was someone else’s fatigue with the show and what was valid criticism without burning the house down.
I really hope this can help and I’m not just rambling into the void, because I feel so bad for people caught up in this painfully and feeling now like they’re in such a vulnerable place with it, and getting hurt even before anything they actually fear comes to pass just on the thought of it happening. I REALLY feel for everyone sending these kind of messages who aren’t doing it wankily. I hope you can get some sort of peace with the show and canon because the thing is I’m definitely not wanky like “IT WILL NEVER BE CANON” but people say that trying to be well meaning to stop people hoping and getting hurt because they’ve been hurt in turn. And being positive but having no idea what’s going to happen and only hoping it’s in my favour, I just know no one can tell you what you need to hear about canon and every answer sucks and yet somehow in that little space in between all the sucky answers, I’m at least not upset with what *I* see in canon, which is useless to everyone EXCEPT me. >.>
#Asks#this is probably why I do not get these sort of asks very often :P#sorry for the ramble#*offers you a snowman chocolate*

COMIC TEA PARTY- THURSDAY BOOK CLUB START!
Good evening, everyone~! This week’s Thursday Book Club is officially beginning! Today we are discussing Daemon by Akreampuff~! (http://daemon.smackjeeves.com/)
Remember that Thursday discussions are completely freeform! However, every 30 minutes I will drop in OPTIONAL discussion questions in case you’d like a bit of a prompt. If you miss out on one of these prompts, you can find them pinned for the chat’s duration. Additionally, remember that while constructive criticism is allowed, our focus is fun and respectfully appreciating the comic. All that said, let’s begin!
QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?
my favorite scene is probably the one where billie transforms. this is largely due to it overcoming my expectations, cause a lot of transformation sequences are graceful or maybe even silly. even when demons are involved whether the demons be bad or good. this one though? this one looks terrifying to go through and i love. its such a cool illustrated scene too between the transitional effects and other sorts of kind of magical effects going around. http://daemon.smackjeeves.com/comics/2477610/page-25/
another scene i really enjoyed was the boat scene, specifically when the banter picks up. i appreciate that billie is not willing to trust zeke, but i also like how chill zeke is. i think it really shows off zeke's character in particular since it seems pretty clear hes empathizing with the situation.
mathtans
Made it. I was gonna ask if you meant the transformation forwards or back, so I'm glad you put in the reference. Neither seem all that fun.
I rather liked when the door blew out due to the fire, sending Billie out into the tree. And I mean "like" as in it got to me, not "oh, that looks fun".
The boat and banter was kinda cool. I mostly liked it for the way it could slip in exposition elements in an entertaining way.
RebelVampire
billie getting blown out of the house was a pretty said moment. although i did like this one page where its just debris and her hand http://daemon.smackjeeves.com/comics/2477607/page-22/ maybe im just a sucker for glass debris, but i really loved how it kind of slowed the moment so you could take in what just happened and then the next page really shows that hit and land(edited)
that is also true about the boat scene. the banter was a good balance to keep the exposition entertaining
mathtans
Right, that's the page just after the one I was thinking of. But that was good too, I kind of pictured her as reaching for her mum but being blown back through the window.
I feel so bad for the mum. I think she was in it just enough to create some empathy. Part of me wonders if Dad came back and accidentally started the fire.
RebelVampire
now that would just be tragic. dad sneezes and whoops, suddenly fire
although
tbf
we never see a dead body
maybe the mom is alive
and she started the fire!
mathtans
It's true. I wonder if maybe mum is alive but could even be kidnapped or something... um, or that? She smoke, maybe? ^.^
Fire could also have been started by that other watcher, the one working with Zeke but that Zeke said he couldn't find. Maybe he went rogue.
RebelVampire
that could be. i mean right now just being disappeared kind of makes them the prime suspect
but yeah if theres one thing stories have taught
its never believe someone is dead until you see both their dead body and ghost
so i consider it highly possible the mom wasnt in the fire
doesnt even have to have been kidnapped. maybe she was at the late night store getting milk
mathtans
I wonder if ghosts exist. We only know vampires don't (which was kind of funny as stated).
Everyone probably thinks Billie died in the fire either way.
RebelVampire
yeah im really curious how she expects to just go back. cause shes been gone long enough that someone probably noticed the fire and investigated and made assumptions. or for one of the supposed victims to turn up out of the blue is the height of suspicion
it screams murder or for the insurance money
mathtans
People already didn't seem to like her, so this won't help either. Poor kid.
RebelVampire
yeah tbf i also dont get why she wants to go back
she didnt have any friends
and i didnt get the feeling she had some sort of extended family either
which i mean maybe she hasnt considered it cause shes in shock and being grumpy
QUESTION 2. Overall, it’s very obvious Billie has a lot on her plate regarding her newfound demonic lineage. Emotionally, how do you think Billie will come to deal with her situation, both in regards to her heritage and her mother being dead? How long do you think it’ll take her to adjust (if ever)? Do you feel Billie will endeavor to learn to control her newfound powers after Zeke shows her some more? Or, do you feel Billie will return “home” and try to pretend everything is normal at first? Assuming Billie learns at some point, what sorts of things do you think she’ll learn power wise? Speaking of home, what do you think Billie is going to do in regards to that? Overall, how do you see Billie just dealing with the new situation in general?
mathtans
Could just be a fear of the unknown. And she had that one blonde friend. Kinda.
I feel like one of the things Billie will ask eventually is where's Dad hanging out. I'm not sure if that will help her adjust but I think it'll help her sort some things out.
RebelVampire
yeah im surprised insofar shes not the least bit curious about her dad. especially cause her dad must be well known since those medical daemons knew of him.
enough to even say like father like daughter basically
i feel like for a while, billie might emotionally not deal with. like especially if she stays in the caves, its a lot easier to put the events out of mind. or more i mean she might deal with the demon elements and come to accept that, but i think theres other things shell avoid and not hit her till later
like the fact she has no house
mathtans
I mean, she thought her dad was just some guy, there's still the need to adjust to that.
Also might not immediately want to meet the guy who's supposedly part of this hybrid breeding program.
Yeah. I wonder if the caves are fireproof. Feels like she might have fire issues later.
RebelVampire
actually if her powers wind up being fire related, that has huge implications she started it. and i would hate to be her in the moment she realizes she caused it.
mathtans
Oooh. Like, unconsciously? That would suck. Unless someone watching her decided to start it to make her think she started it.
RebelVampire
that would be devious
but not impossible
especially if powers are somewhat inherited and her dad is the big fire guy or something
maybe what will inspire billie to meet her dad is anger. like in the sense she needs someone to lash out, and hes the secret demon father who made her and gave her demon blood and sort of got her into the situation.
mathtans
Maybe the police will investigate and she can get a report to figure out how it all started. She might not be related to fire though, maybe she has powers of just making people uncomfortable, like she did to her classmates.
Maybe. Or maybe she meets him as a trainer and doesn't realize who he is until later.
RebelVampire
actually thatd be a really interesting way to have him introduced
have him just there upfront the whole time
and then surprise
ya know, i hope the uncomfortable thing is her powers and not just her heritage in general.
cause if all daemons make ppl uncomfortable, theres a huge question of why
cause that stands in contrast to the nicer image zeke wanted to paint of them
mathtans
I'd say Satan was her father except I'm pretty sure Satan's a lady. Either that or the cliffhanger is that there's a librarian.
RebelVampire
somewhat off topic, but i really liked that one page on the boat that was all blue and white while zeke was talking about the daemons actually being good. the palette really made them see ethereal, but i like the contrast of how real colors make them look. like without that blue colored glass as it were, its kind of easy to see why someone would hmm if theyre good or bad.
yeah i kind of get the impression satan is that lady too
cause zeke did purposefully not use pronouns that i noticed
mathtans
Zeke may have his own rose coloured glasses too, mind.
Oh, that's cool. I'm not always good at picking up on art stuff.
I did have a look at the link to the time lapse video on the colouring of one of the pages... interesting how it was flipped horizontally at a couple points, I've never thought of doing that.
Actually, lots of the bonus stuff is pretty fun. Like Zeke's alternate magical transformation, or the 100th page breaking the 4th wall.
Maybe Satan is also the librarian.
RebelVampire
well zeke did say satan is just a title
so satan is the job title given to their librarians
i really loved that bonus page with zeke's alternate magical transformation
it was a good, silly addition in some serious moments
QUESTION 3. Vaguely, Zeke mentions that the hybrids were created because daemons needed something from humans. What do you think this thing daemons need is? Will Billie like the answer when she finds out, or is it going to be something that horrifies her? Why are the daemons so desperate they’d even create a breeding program to get it? The comic also talks a bit about the history of daemons. What do you think was said and done in the past to create such a negative view of daemons? What was even the purpose of making them so hated? Also, who was even the main perpetrator of these distortions? Ultimately, how do you believe both the history and the creation of hybrids will play into the story and the daemons’ goals?
mathtans
Interesting, I guess part of me just thought what they needed was love and attention. But maybe there's something in the genes.
As to the negative view, probably propaganda by cults. Maybe a jilted ex-lover.
RebelVampire
maybe it is love. i mean i dont consider it impossible. though i also would be concerned why daemons cant produce love naturally cause that has horrible implications
maybe humans are better magical conduits or something
idk why thatd be
but its the only thing i can think of
or maybe daemons have longer or immortal lifespans and they need some good ol' mortality
or
since the comic description mentions theres gonna be fighting angels
maybe only humans can fight angels
but they made hybrids cause plain ol' humans are too weak
but speaking of angels, i assume the propaganda was theres. which i mean, if all daemons make ppl uncomfortable, it was probably easy to manipulate the world that way
cause of course youd assume ppl who make you uncomfy were evil
although
if i go with humans kill angels thing, it makes sense why theyd do it. cause if humans dont like daemons anymore, there will be no alliance
mathtans
(Sorry, back) Yeah, it's weird unless they need a surplus or something... oh, right, magic. Hum, that's an idea.
Maybe a daemon can only be killed by a hybrid or something. They need one to go on a quest. Or the angel fight's a good one too.
Maybe the daemons have signed something like that they won't do stuff to angels, and so their hands are tied now that some angels have gone rogue. I wonder if there's half angels too.
Oooh. Maybe only hybrids can breed with angels?
RebelVampire
that could be.
i never considered thered be hybrid angels
if there are i feel doubly bad for humans
no matter what are the puppets
mathtans
Instead of horns and tails they grow wings. Very inconvenient as far as shirts go.
I wonder if there's some actual humans who can do magic, or only hybrids.
Also, their program can't be too successful if they've only managed under 10 in something like 20+ years.
RebelVampire
i got more the impression was that they wanted to start small
which either suggests 1) they really dont know much about the risks or what the consequences are so made a small sample size or 2) theyre afraid of there being too many hybrids
mathtans
Hmm, I suppose that could be too. Though seemingly they weren't sure if anything would even manifest, so maybe their sample was larger than we give credit for.
RebelVampire
im really curious if the blond friend is a hybrid somehow. especially since she didnt mind billie at all
mathtans
I wondered about that, but with so few of them, it'd be a bit of a coincidence.(edited)
Unless they're all from the same region on Earth or something, I guess. (Maybe she's an angel?)
It'd cut against the grain, an angel who likes to skip class and show up late and stuff.
RebelVampire
QUESTION 4. Besides the history of daemons, there are a few other mysteries floating about. Who do you think burnt down Billie’s house and for what goal? Was Zeke really not involved? Could it have been another daemon? How do you think Billie’s mother even ended up with a daemon? Did Billie’s mother really not know he was a daemon? Alternatively, if she knew, why didn’t she tell Billie? Do you think Billie will get to meet her father? If so, how do you foresee that going? Additionally, how do you think it will go when Billie meets the other hybrids? Will she find newfound friends, or is she doomed to be alone? In general, what future events do you see happening in the comic?
they could be from the same region. maybe theres something in the water. but tbh it could just be a coincidence. i dont see why not.
mathtans
Maybe the shocking twist is, Billie's mom was actually an angel! And nobody knew!
I'm kinda curious to see the other hybrids. The author must have kinda figured them out, they were shown in silhouette early on.
Iris
just wanted to quickly say that this seems like a super cool chat, I'm really hoping that I'll be less busy during the next one and be able to get more involved ;o;
mathtans
Heya Iris. We all have our busy times, early March chewed me up.
RebelVampire
hoping it works out too! we'd definitely love to have you, @Iris ~!
yeah i really want to see the hybrids too
but mostly cause new charas
to see billie interact with
Iris
ty! gonna check what next week's comic is
RebelVampire
and have fun
mathtans
I'm curious about the designs, since they all look different. Which is a real interesting way to go on that. (Also, seems Billie lucked out in terms of her armour.)
RebelVampire
@Iris its kamikaze https://kamikazeanimated.com/comic/
yeah im kind of for the theory billie's mom was an angel just cause it seems convenient she got such nice armour
Iris
thanks!!
RebelVampire
i really hope we get to learn how billie's mother ended up with a daemon. cause im really banking on the fact that she probably knew.
cause the lie she told billie seems sort of vague and convenient(edited)
mathtans
I hadn't considered that. (Tinder?)
Iris
(demon tinder. cinder)
mathtans
"There's finally dating apps. Project hybrid is a go."
RebelVampire
appropriate name given the fire themes XD
plot twist: daemons invented dating apps
Iris
makes sense
mathtans
Heh. Maybe they've got a tech area.
So, Billie and Zeke... do we ship them? The conversational bits about being a cat make me think yes. But of course, I prefer to ship Billie with the BadGirl (tm), because of how I prefer yuri.
RebelVampire
idk if i ship billie and zeke yet. im not sure i trust zeke. not cause i think hes up to something, but he seems creepily loyal to the daemons to the point i wouldnt trust him to have unbiased decision making
mathtans
Billie hasn't totally trusted him for that reason though, so I feel like the lampshading makes it possible. Though if he's meant to be her mentor/trainer, maybe not.
Kinda related, maybe Billie will want to stay just because everyone around now won't have that bad vibe she gave to the other students.
Also, there's books.
RebelVampire
yeah i did kind of feel that will be a motivating factor
that now she has a chance to make friends
and not be alone
and i kind of feel that fact will make her stay for a bit "just to see what its all about"
and then shell come ot feel they are family like zeke said
but im also curious how the hybrids in general are treated in the society
cause i do worry theyre getting the useful tool treatment
mathtans
You need to make sure they're plugged in at night. Or they lose their charge.
(Billie's lucky, she doesn't have a tail, so doesn't need to charge up. Zeke, on the other hand...)
RebelVampire
billie is one of the fancy wireless ones you just put on the stand
mathtans
She's her own action figure.
Seriously though, yeah, I wonder if all of them are as chill about things as Zeke. Also, I wonder if anyone else is being monitored out there.
RebelVampire
yeah thatd be an interesting situation for billie to be in
having to monitor some other hybrid
which emotionally i dont feel will go over well for her
mathtans
Maybe she'll have to monitor BadGirl with the ponytail. And I get my ship.
I wonder if any of the other short forms for Satan will get used. ("Actually, my name's Stan. Someone added another 'a'.")
RebelVampire
maybe.
mathtans
Well, all the best to Billie then. Hope her next transformation goes smoother. (Oh, I also liked the whole "and then she died" gag, heh.)
RebelVampire
although now im wondering if satan is actually an angel or if this comic split lucifer and satan
mathtans
Ooh, that's a good question too.
RebelVampire
i guess well find out eventually tho. darn angel propaganda

Album Review by Bradley Christensen Wu-Tang Clan – Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) Record Label: Loud / RCA Release Date: November 9 1993
Just in case you didn’t know, Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nothin’ to fuck with, but I’m sure you probably already knew that. I mean, Wu-Tang Clan is one of the most famous, popular, and influential groups of the 90s. Their debut LP, 1993’s Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) is a classic album. Unlike certain albums that I’ve covered recently, this is a classic album that I love. I’ve loved this album for years, and I’ve reviewed this once, actually. That was in 2014, though, and looking back at that review, it’s honestly not a bad one. Not a great one at all, and I was still trying to improve my skills as a writer, but it was clear that I didn’t listen to hip-hop at all. Not a lot, anyway. That’s true, though; I didn’t listen to a lot of hip-hop at the time. In the last few years, I’ve began listening to a lot more, but around that time, I was very new to the genre. This is one of the first albums that I got into, and three years later (technically four, because I remember getting this in 2013, but I didn’t listen to the album much until 2014), I still love this album. Enter The Wu-Tang is such an awesome, amazing, wonderful, and influential album that holds up quite well today. Wu-Tang Clan is one of those groups that comes up when people talk about 90s hip-hop. Maybe not as much as Tupac or Biggie, but that’s kind of understandable. Wu-Tang Clan are very famous (hell, Method Man had a cameo in the Netflix show, Luke Cage, which was great), but they’re not quite the main act that people think of when they think of this time period. I can’t imagine a lot of people, especially more casual fans of music, would think of acts like Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, or Wu-Tang, because they’re not the most popular or recognizable. Anyway, Enter The Wu-Tang is still an influential album, even to this day. Not only is this LP one of the first albums that really got me into hip-hop, ultimately influencing my tastes in hip-hop, but it’s an influential album in the entire genre.
Released in 1993, this LP was one of many that helped to define hip-hop, especially East Coast hip-hop. With its innovative production techniques, funny and free-associative lyrics, and the myriad of rappers on the record, this album helped to influence a lot within hip-hop throughout the 90s. The group would never really get the same amount of critical acclaim with any of their other albums, but I can understand why. I’ve listened to their latest LP, 2015’s A Better Tomorrow, and yeah, it’s a good album, but it’s not great. It’s not quite as great as this one. I’m not one of those “older stuff” guys, either, but it’s very obvious that the group doesn’t quite have the same spark that they used to. I think that’s partially because of the passing of one of the founding members, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who passed away in 2004, unfortunately. Speaking of which, this LP did give rise, well as an introduction, to a lot of very critically acclaimed, classic, and well-loved rappers. Ol’ Dirty Bastard is one of them, and I just covered his debut LP, 1995’s Return To The 36 Chambers. It’s a wonderful album, despite being very long, exhausting, overwhelming, and off the wall. ODB is the weirdest and strangest member of the group, and his verses on Enter The Wu-Tang are very entertaining, fun, and over the top. Not every member of this group is that off-putting, though. This album helped kickstart careers from RZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, and GZA, just to name a few. There are more rappers here, but in my first review of the album, that was a problem I listed. There were tons of rappers for me to pay attention to, even though I knew that going into the album, but it doesn’t bother me now. I love how many rappers there are, because it gives a unique flavor to the album. There are a lot of different styles, flows, and personalities to get into throughout the record.
That’s definitely one of the best things about it, but I can understand if someone might be kind of overwhelmed by that. As I said, I was when I first listened to this album, but that was because I wasn’t much of a hip-hop fan. One of my favorite things about the album back then were the lyrics, and I feel the same way now, too. The lyrics on this LP are awesome, but I’ll admit that they’re not the most introspective, deep, and meaningful. If you’re one of those people that hate hip-hop for how it only talks about cars, money, drugs, women, and stuff like that, well, you can kind of blame these guys. This group is one of the first groups to talk about this sort of thing in a funny, humorous, and over the top kind of way. I love their use of free-associative rhymes, which just means that they don’t quite stay on topic in their lyrics. Do you hate that, too? Well, you can blame Wu-Tang for that, but they make it work. I never mind that, just as long the lyrics are funny, interesting, or good, and they’re very good here. They’re a ton of fun to listen to, just as the lyrics are as a whole. Every rapper brings something interesting to the table, but even then, the lyrics are a good mix between funny, over the top, and interesting. There are some very interesting songs here, such as “Tearz,” which paints a very realistic portrait of what life was like at the time in New York City. People mostly know this group for songs like “Ain’t Nothin’ Ta Fuck Wit,” “C.R.E.A.M.,” or “Protect Ya Neck,” which was the first song I ever heard from them, and those are my favorite tracks from this record, among others, too. The production on this LP is what makes it all come together, though; its use of soul samples, clips from old martial arts movies, and its dark, menacing, and gritty atmosphere cements this LP as one of the best in history, as well as RZA being one of the best producers in history. The production complements each member perfectly, and the chemistry that these guys have is absolutely impeccable.
With how many times tr00 rawk or metal elitists talk about how awful hip-hop is, I feel like a handful of albums should automatically be given out to them, just so that way they can be immediately proven wrong, instead of spreading racist, hateful, and ignorant rhetoric. This is one of those albums that I want those people to listen to, because it might change their mind on hip-hop as a whole. Sure, it’s about 24 years old, but this album is awesome in every single way. I’ve only grown to love it more as the years have gone on. In the last few years since I covered this, I’ve loved it more, and I’m finally getting into some of the solo work of each member. Well, some of them, anyway. This LP is required and essential listening if you want to get into hip-hop, because it pays to listen to the classics. I know what I said about Nas’ Illmatic, and how that album is good, but not all that great, this is the album that I think of when I listen to that. It came out a year prior, but it’s not hard to see where Nas got some of his influences from. Wu-Tang Clan is a group that has a lot of respect, praise, and influence on the hip-hop genre as a whole. It’s amazing that this LP came out more than two decades ago, and it’s still a powerful, potent, and amazing record. If you plan on getting into hip-hop, especially doing a deep dive into it, this is an album worth listening to. This is one of the best albums in hip-hop history, and if anything, it ushered in a new era for hip-hop. Not that their brand of tough, intense, and menacing hardcore hip-hop / gangsta rap didn’t exist before (NWA is responsible for pioneering that), but they perfected it, especially because they included very funny, over the top, and humorous jokes and punchlines that gave their sound a bit more of an edge over other acts in the genre. Enter The Wu-Tang is an album that has gone down in hip-hop history, and if you haven’t listened to, well, you better get on that, because Wu-Tang Clan really ain’t nothin’ to fuck with.

Different topics: Self reflection, Pro WWE Stans, and Backlash of the XXXtentacion Joke
Blog
I am back for another blog. I keep thinking it will be the end, but due to not being able to jot down my personal thoughts I have had the need to at least put my mind frame out there so people can see where my mind is going. I am going to focus on certain things, I mean there will still be self loathing and self reflection with a mixture of other things on my mind because sometimes, as limited as my verbiage can be due to being a fucking scattered brain nut who can’t organize the thoughts in his head in a precise manner, and can’t figure out where my mind has been over the course of the last decade and that is the unfortunate thing about someone who followed the lead on how to think because I never knew how to think for myself, and I have fell for ignorant point of views or limited point of views and it has never left me satisfied.
Over the course of the last few years I have moved towards being more of a leftist person. I used to not be empathic or sympathetic towards others because I thought nihilism is such a cool and edgy thing for most of my existence, when being a nice person did not make me stand out and made people dislike me for being too much of a square, not realizing I was buying into a normalized right wing and centrist mentality because of the people who had platforms, who would be woke about certain behaviors and on certain issues, and it feels like with all the shit I have been through, trying to interview different people on my periscope sessions, and even talking to people with ignorant views, to see a better way, even if they seem like a Trump supporter, who still have minorities as friends etc, and I feel it is a challenge, because my mind is weak and it feels like if I am not embraced by leftist leaning people, who never really say anything when I am dealing with harassment, it seems more people who come across as peaceful centrists or right wings that they are embracing me, like “Look our side is embracing you, those leftists don’t care about you” and I feel like a certain point I might buckle, because I am a weak minded person, and I have always conformed with who I was around with the outlook, so I constantly deal with this harassment the more I try to put out a more peaceful message.
I am vehemently attacked for having a different outlook on groups fighting against oppression so the right wing government agents trolling me, are trying to paint me as a terrorist sympathizer, while they are the ones siding with the real systemic terror that is taking place. I am accused of hating all white people, when I have pointed out how people are buying into a systemic white supremacy and it is a big no-no. The people, who are supposed free speech advocates, are not for me expressing how people who think they are being edgy are not really being edgy. I have been blackballed from even being able to have a career when I have contributed many ideas that have been taken from me, and the specifics have never made me point it out, just the fact that I contributed. Maybe that was Stern Show tactic I fell for, because Stern was a huge influence to me and I always wanted to impress him, so when he would make fun of Stuttering John for keeping tabs on what joke he wrote and would have all sorts of papers he made light of that, and that is when I decided never to keep tab of what ideas and jokes were used by multiple people. The propaganda is so real, even if I explain my narrative, they will just say I was a crazy caller and nothing more, and then they will hint that I helped Stern make millions and I am owed money, and they will deny it is my incapability of finding a job and never disclose that they are keeping me censored. They fuck with my views and pump them up when it is convenient, to show these views on periscope, especially are not genuine. They constantly try to peace talk with me, and not disclose their views are leaning toward the right, so I don’t immediately shoo them away.
This is where it ties into wrestling because they love when I lose my mind. I have spoken out about WWE’s practices, and how I don’t like who runs the company etc, I still appreciate the people who work there and entertain the fans, but even rubbing it in my face I won’t be a part of the Summer festivities in Toronto is meant to make me lose my mind because I lost my mind when Mania festivities took place. Sometimes I wonder if this is all worth it, over the last few months I have not cared about pop culture news or television shows/movies etc to catch up on anything. Maybe I should not care, but it is literally everything we consume is run by some sort of evil. I am sure this computer I am typing on was probably put together by some sweatshop worker or something. It feels like the easiest mind frame to have does just not want to be here because I try to be socially conscious, but I am still using shit that is tied to evil shit, whether it is a tablet, or consuming from some fast food place or something. I lose my fucking mind and the possibility that people I know are also involved with shady things, even though I don’t fucking know, it fucks with me. \
So the wrestling stuff has really taken its toll because even though I believe a lot of the stuff outside the ring, even stuff involving media outlets is also like wrestling, maybe I am buying into it but ever since the introduction of AEW, which does have shadiness with its owners as well, to be fair, it seems like the pro WWE contingent have attack others like they are socially conscious, while never copping to the fact they might be taking WWE money to shill for them online, and because they call out Saudi Arabia, or calling out Hulk Hogan, they think they are doing their due diligence of being socially conscious, and will constantly show off WWE hiring minorities as the most socially conscious shit ever, while it is performative at its best. They accuse others of not keeping the same energy while also not keeping the same energy. Their points towards other companies and people are valid, but the fact they are acting like these new hip people and they are siding with WWE, it supposed to be this manufactured talk about race misogyny etc, while they are supporting the company who have systemically caused a lot of this shit as well. So when there are accounts dedicated to mocking Dave Meltzer, who I don’t agree with by the way on a lot of shit, and I have called him out as well, but since he is has been more on AEW side the harassment has taken another level, under the guise of criticism of his reports etc, there have been attacks on his family and his kids, and when he finally puts on his own board the name of the person doing it, which anyone can see, he is accused of doxing even though it was his first name. I wouldn’t have done it since it said in their terms that no one would do that, but these same shit disturbers are acting like the biggest victims, so much so that he put out the name himself on his own twitter, totally normal for someone to do when they fear their name is out there.
These same dudes who are performative about the outrage were the same ones attacking other people who don’t believe a company with shoddy morality and has had a huge track record of sweeping corruption within their own company under the rug, would actually being capable of exaggerating one of their employees, or independent contractors’ battle with cancer. Now it is genius if this was a lie or some sort of exaggeration because you present a severity of something like cancer, which is horrible to have, so now because people question it, they will have their shills attack anyone questioning it, and if it does end up that this was a lie, it shows how so many of these WWE shills and fan boys and girls, are propping their own experiences and this narrative of “HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THIS, THIS IS NOT A STORYLINE” the same fucking guy who grilled Brian Pillman’s wife on live television after her husband’s death so he could deflect blame on the company, the fact that he may have paid off people to get off Jimmy Snuka off a murder, or the infamous ring boy scandal, or how recently in the affidavit there was reports from Ashley Massaro being raped and it was covered up. “BUT THEY ARE A PUBLICLY TRADED COMPANY” Yeah because that has stopped other publicly traded companies from partaking in any shadiness or corruption.
These same people who care about the sanctity of cancer victims, they were the first ones who would pile on me and tell me to go kill myself, someone who has mental illness, and they had to secrecy of hiding their identities even though I know which people they were and I cannot prove it technically but people accusing Meltzer using his fan boys to defend him etc, are the same ones defending WWE and being a stan of a billion dollar company. I could be wrong about the Reigns stuff but everything to me in this system is manufactured in some way or another, whether it is staged or some other cause orchestrating. I don’t have all the facts, and that is true, but since you guys pit me as this guy who is in his mom’s basement and is a fucking loser, why would you be so threatened by some mentally ill asshole right? Obviously I struck a chord with you guys if you are encouraging me to kill myself, and then acting like you are not doing at behest of a billion dollar company, or some popular radio host who can never be called out.
The last thing I will say and I am in a hurry. There seems to be this controversy of XXXtentacion joke by some comedian. I have many thoughts of this. People are outraged because she made a joke about someone, who on his time on earth was not the best human being and did horrible things, so she made a joke that his death of getting killed and robbed would be commercial for why you should get Venmo. The joke was not the greatest, even though I feel she has every right to do that joke, comedians should be allowed to try something out without the fear of getting people to threaten her and dox her. Part of me feels, as much I agree with any comedian being able to try to do their jokes and apply their craft, that there is a contingent of right wing comedians who hide behind free speech etc, but they will censor anyone’s else’s free speech under the guise of getting their fan base to threaten other women, but are for this woman’s joke who mocked XXX’s death. Comedians act like their craft is some pure art and never call out the government agents and undercover law enforcement supporters in their own shit. Only time you see these “edgy” comedians call out someone, is when it is someone being “Too PC’ but never call their own side’s bullshit and act like they are the fighters of free speech, while still being prostituted by the right wing side, which has always had a part in the comedy world. Ill see supposed conspiracy theorist comedians, who will put out shit as fact, and I have put out theories, and always state I never know for a fact, but these people will put out that Drake and other rappers sacrificed XXX like it is a fact and that is more dangerous than getting backlash for a fucking joke. It feels like these things are created, maybe both sides are in on it, but it serves its agendas, because the cultists of XXX’s will have a field day and then the ones fighting back have a new angle of a comedian being the fucking victim. These same comedians would not approve of me calling out how comedians are compromised, and not with the jokes they tell, but when they do their podcasts or radio shows, and are being 100 percent serious will advocate for death of minorities and intellectualize it.
I never seen anyone in comedy ever call out how comedy shows like Stern Show or O&A helped start the alt right, and even though these shows were hilarious and there was satirizing of racism, misogyny, and homophobia etc but when they spoke out seriously about things they were spreading nonstop propaganda, and acting like the side they were fighting for is completely freedom, while constantly tying corporate nature with people speaking out against the systemic evils, even if it was limited, like they were not doing the same thing but on a much more edgier level. You don’t see any of these free speech comedians ever call out people like Stern for blackballing me from comedy and not letting me have a more progressive message or maybe explaining how there are initiations about how people have to partake in propaganda to make it, no one wants to hear that shit, so they will limit the messages on either side. No one will pay attention to this anyways, because I will be lumped in with every blogger who is censoring comedy, even though I want comedy to be free, and this supposed presentation of “what comedy is supposed to be” is also prostituted and no one will ever dare point it out and it will just be seen with different cliques and more limited narratives.
So there is my fucking piece. It was shitty and no one should respect me. I hope someday I am out of this world so I never have to endure the pretentiousness and maybe I won’t feel the need to give into this bullshit because my mind does weaken and sometimes I wish I did sell out because it looks so appealing to be celebrated and be able to have connections, but I isolated myself and am not capable of fully trusting another fucking human being. I will always be miserable, and even though I used to think it was cool to be miserable, and self centered, because that was seen as the ultimate “I don’t give a fuck” thing, I realized it was propaganda, but it might be too late for me because my mind has been poisoned for so long, that my mind could be persuaded into this shit. It is what scares me, and for the good of this planet, I would beg people to just rid me off here because it is becoming too much for my fucked up brain to handle.
Let me clarify though, every comedian has a right to try out dark material, it might not land well, but sometimes it feels like these situations are meant to cause a reaction because it is the new marketing, and I don’t think that XXX deserved to die, being shot at 20 year old is horrible and I do personally believe that someone could have changed if the right people had got to him, and I always feel like people in the industry who do horrible things is part of some initiation, and for some rappers it is always meant to put them in violent situations etc, but no one ever wants to discuss that, so maybe XXX was changing his life and the problematic behavior, but people have to keep in mind that people don’t also have to like what he did, and the ones who have a problem with that joke maybe get on your platforms and discuss why people in the industry do shitty things, like these corporations don’t design it this way, but we can’t prove any of that right? I just had layered thoughts of this whole situation, and people will accuse me of not being for free speech of comedy. I believe comedians should be able to tell their jokes etc. It would not even shock me some of the people threatening to dox and kill this female comedian, weren’t also some right wing types making it seem far more dangerous than what it was. I could be wrong but I question everything and everyone. Everyone has a fucking agenda. These same people who defend Louie, also act like people going after Louie are the ones who have the agenda, but acting like your defense of him is just for the art of comedy, not like you are being given incentive to defend him. It is also funny that the people who were embracing him when he was more socially conscious, never once mentioned how Louie came from being a well off privileged dude, and was not this everyday working man, it is funny how that happens to come out after all of this, kind of like it is like wrestling and it was time to turn Louie heel now. Just my thoughts.

KEEP YOUR MIND THE LADDER
There's a real difference, because an assertion provokes objections in a way that was entirely for the better. Human problems are the most common type, so being good at solving those is key in achieving a high average outcome. It was a kind of work is higher because it gives you more options to choose your life's work, there are more and more true as computers get faster. We fell into the classic problem of how when a new medium comes out it adopts the practices, the content, the business models of the old medium—which fails, and you can't have a mecca if you don't let people ship, you won't have to write programs to solve, but I never have. This is one case where it pays to be self-indulgent. I believe they conceal because of deep taboos. It explains why VCs take so agonizingly long to make up new things, some old rules don't apply. So maybe I'll try not bringing books on some future trip. I wasn't looking for it. Imaginative people don't want to follow or lead. It explains why VCs take so agonizingly long to make up their minds, and why their due diligence feels like a star. The economic situation is apparently so grim that some experts fear we may be able to work hard: these guys would have paid to be able to leave while you're there.
You're an investor too. In a way, it's harder to see problems than their solutions. Every founder knows that VCs will tell your secrets to your competitors if they end up investing in them. Even YC's haters buy it. But again, the only reason VCs are the way they are.1 The immediate cause of death in a startup is to try to create a more elegant alternative to the Turing Machine. It was astonishing to learn later that they'd both been serial womanizers, and that women will all be trained in the martial arts.
The books I bring on trips are often quite virtuous, the sort of backslapping extroverts one thinks of what Microsoft does to users, or negotiate with other companies, who to hire, everything. The problem with VC funds is that they're looking for the trick.2 If you make people with money love you, you can write about, and they were used in the Roman empire. 0 first arose in a brainstorming session between O'Reilly and Medialive International. Junior professors are fired by default after a few years before by a big company. And yet isn't being smart also knowing what to do when the teacher tells your elementary school class to add all the numbers from 1 to 100? The German and Dutch governments, perhaps from fear of elitism, try to ensure that the company pays 10 times as much on sales as on development. Can it get you the designers, though?
But it's convenient because this is an example of such a UI to work from: the old one.3 Of course the habits of mind than others? But if it's inborn it should be. Just to be clear about this, it was meaningless. YC.4 If there are any axioms that could be weeded out. In the process of explaining them to the right people, giving the impression of productivity, and so on. If you have the resources, it's more elegant to think of intelligence as inborn is that people trying to take advantage of the opportunities to waste cycles that we'll get from new, faster hardware? At Y Combinator we advise all the startups we fund never to lord it over users. The most dramatic example of Web 2.5 Be careful to copy what makes them good, rather than their flaws. But prudence can't tell me what sentence to write next.
And if you start from successful startups, you find they'd often make good startups. So we'd refuse to fund founders whose characters we had doubts about, because how good founders are and how well they do are not orthogonal. There's a physical analog in the Intel and Microsoft stickers that come on some laptops. The closest you'll get to Bubble valuations is Rupert Murdoch paying $580 million for Myspace. This implies that the kind of parallelism we have in a hundred years. From either direction we get to the same spot. In the US most kids graduating from college still think they're supposed to start them while they're still in college. Now when one thinks of as typically American. If founders' instincts already gave them the right answers, they wouldn't need us.6
If you feel you're really helping people, you'll keep working even when it seems like your startup is doomed. A teacher has to walk a narrow path: you want to act on, act now. A friend who moved out of Manhattan said merely that her 3 year old. Startups are as unnatural as skiing, so there's a similar list for startups. A quality that's inborn will obviously be more convenient to work with than one that's influenced by experience, and thus might vary in the course of a study. And they're astoundingly successful. They'd face some challenges if they wanted to make more, but not too easily impressed.7 I think one of the most important components of the world's infrastructure? And if your startup succeeds, it will become increasingly important relative to wisdom because there is more room for what would now be considered slow languages, meaning languages that don't yield very efficient code. Those paintings have since been cleaned, revealing brilliant colors; their imitators are of course still brown. The consequence was a positively fanatic freethinking coupled with the impression that youth is intentionally being deceived by the state through lies: it was a description of Google?
As I was mulling this over, I found myself thinking: I can understand why German universities declined in the 1930s, after they excluded Jews. Toys and cartoon characters meant to be cute always have clueless expressions and stubby, ineffectual limbs. I don't have time to find out. It's the sort of strategic insight I was supposed to come up with ideas for startups? I claim hacking and painting are also related, in the sense of something someone made happen. An undergrad who gets something published feels like a body cavity search. If this were true, the most common mistakes young founders make is not to be an inexhaustible source of research papers, despite the fact that Jessica and I decided one night to start it, and the distinction between acceptable and forbidden topics is usually based on how intellectual the work sounds when described in research papers, despite the fact that if their parents had chosen the other way, they'd have grown up considering themselves as Xes must be enormous.8 Already chip designers have to think about it, because their unconscious mind shrank from the complications involved.
Odd as it might sound, we tell startups that they should try to make as little money as possible.9 At its best, starting a startup is because that's what they've been trained to do for their whole lives to play such games, young founders' first impulse on starting a startup is that you get a lot of people seem to have some sort of internal compass that helps me out. Ideally till you realize how mistaken you were. And when I used to think I wanted to try being a painter, and the people who thought during the Bubble all I have to do is start a startup at 20 and you're sufficiently successful, you'll never get to bum around a foreign country. I was firmly in the camp of bad. Specifications change while a program is being written way too fast for Microsoft even to channel it, let alone which to choose.10 A few months ago an article about Y Combinator said that early on it had been nice growing up in the country. Investors are more of a problem.
Notes
But it is less than 500, because any VC would think Y Combinator.
Or more precisely, the CIA runs a venture fund called In-Q-Tel that is actually a computer.
People were more at home at the time. I don't have a group of people mad, essentially by macroexpanding them. Everything is a dotted line on a form that would scale.
If Congress passes the founder of the iPhone SDK.
They therefore think what drives users to switch to a can of soup. If you try to go to work on what you write has a sharp drop in utility. Super-angels will snap up stars that VCs may begin to conserve board seats by switching to what used to wonder if that got bootstrapped with consulting.
But no planes crash if your goal is to create one of the reason it used to do it mostly on your thesis. Convertible debt can be surprisingly indecisive about acquisitions, and the valuation should be especially skeptical about Viaweb too.
The question to ask, if we wanted to invest more. If you really need a higher growth rate has to be staying at a discount of 30% means when it converts. When governments decide how to be identified with you.
On the face of it, I'm also an investor who invested earlier had been, and stir. Which helps explain why there are few who can predict instead of admitting frankly that it's hard to predict precisely what would happen to their returns. These two regions were the people working for startups might be able to raise money after Demo Day or die.
Unfortunately the constraint probably has to work for Gillette, but to establish a protocol for web-based alternative to Office may not be surprised if VCs' tendency to push to being a train car that in 1995, but Google proved them wrong.
But a couple predecessors. The reason the young side. So you can base brand on anything with a no-shop clause. But on the critical question is not so good that it killed the best in the 1990s, and others, like most of their predecessors and said in effect why can't you be more selective about the cheapest food available.

Mel Feller Looks at Visioning Success by Mel Feller
Mel Feller Looks at Visioning Success by Mel Feller
Mel Feller asks, is it possible to achieve a dream in 30 days? Do you have a vision of where you want to be, both personally and professionally? Does it seem an intimidating task to reach that milestone? How about committing to 30 days to a more productive you today?
Another thing Mel Feller loves and knows that having accomplished more and crossed more off your to do list at the end of the day, week, and month is such a heady feeling of accomplishment and it propels you toward even greater heights of productivity and vision attainment.
There are five steps that Mel Feller has found beneficial in reaching his goals and in which have helped him envision success:
Commit to 30 days. You do not have to wait until the first of the month to start this. Start today and commit for the next 30 days going forward. Having an end in sight may make you more likely to stick to it a goal/project. If you find the steps you have implemented are not working, feel free to toss them or look for new ones at the end of your 30 days.
Make certain your goals are realistic. Yes, we have all heard about those rare individuals that can pen a bestselling novel in 30 days or reach a six figure sales goal in a month, those individuals are rare. Do not set yourself up for failure by setting unrealistic goals. Remember, you are looking to change your work habits and you cannot change yourself overnight. Don’t let a missed goal make you feel like an under-achiever; instead determine whether the goal was truly reachable.
Baby steps are critical to making it to the top and achieving success with your goal. Remember, it is easier to eat an elephant one bite at a time than to tackle it all in one meal.
Find an accountability partner. Having a goal-buddy keeps you both accountable and helps you stay on task. It is great to have someone to bounce ideas off when you are feeling stymied and run down.
How to use Visioning
A vision is a 'motivating view of the future'. It creates pull. It gives direction.
Imagine a brilliant future
Think about what you are trying to achieve.
Go out into the future. Look around and see what is there.
Step into the shoes of others and see, hear and feel as they do. Walk a mile with them.
Look at your plans and seek their direction, then follow that line.
Make it Visioning memorable
A vision only works when it is remembered and is up-front-and-central in your thoughts for most of the time - especially when you are making important decisions in this area. If the vision statement is long, then it will not be remembered. If it uses bland words or motherhood-and-apple-pie statements, it will not be remembered. If it is, the same be-the-best vision that everyone else uses it will be passed over mentally.
Use dynamic and emotive words that to paint motivating pictures. Use words like 'sharp', 'now' and 'value'.
Phrase it in the present tense to make it immediate. Use 'is' rather than 'will'.
Use active verbs that talk about what is happening. Use 'suffering' rather than 'pain'.
Test it with others to ensure it works for them too.
How it Visioning works
Visioning works because we are an imaginative species and are motivated by what we perceive as a possible or desired future.
It is also affected by our ability to recall thoughts. By making it easy to remember and associated it with stronger emotions, we make it easier to bring fully back into memory when it is needed (rather than 'Now what was that vision? It seemed good at the time...'.)
A good vision is both realistic and stretching. Too far into the future and it does not create pull. In addition, close to today and it is just another plan.
You need to believe in yourself, your capabilities and your skills. Be confident in who you are and what you do and that will go a long way in helping you reach your 30 day goal.
