Day 3 - cloak thankfully Obi-Wan's robe cloak is big enough to wrap around a certain Commander who might've been tossed into the freezing river during a mission oh and when there's a chance to make something even more Codywan? ofc I'll do it, here's a bonus

i don't know who needs to hear this today but the jedi would not be body-shy
especially during the war. some would be uncomfortable, sure, or even heavily dislike being nude and/or bathing around others, but the point of that is that would be respected as a choice. there is a very large difference between preferring not to be nude around others, for cultural religious or personal reasons, versus being ashamed. nothing you can do can convince me jedi would be ashamed or embarrassed of their or others' bodies.
why. why would the jedi think nudity undignified. why would they turn their noses up at it as unseemly, rather than a choice and preference

Obi-Wan: *waiting in the healing halls for a healer to come see him and Anakin* 😐
Anakin: *is only 10, just stuck 5 jelly beans up his nose cause him and Aayla wanted to see how many would fit* 🤡
Bant: *getting handed Anakin’s chart and feeling sadder and sadder as she goes through it* Again?
Che: Yes. I don’t think I can handle his little wheezes without either yelling or laughing at him.
Bant: Yeah. That’s fair 😔

it’s like baby gorl there’s no way I, the author who wrote the fic you’re commenting on and who is the intended audience for this comment, am gonna agree with you 😿🙏 some things can just stay on your chest 🙏
#there’s a threshold I think of what I accept in comments about characters#and their actions or about who is in the wrong or what should happen#because I do like reading people’s opinions#and sometimes when someone is like I didn’t like obi-wan in this fic#I’m like makes sense! maybe you weren’t supposed to or maybe the argument they had was supposed to not be clear cut on who is right#because arguments in real life don’t always have a clear cut winner or morally superior person lmao#I’m ok with that I’m ok with comments saying boo this character is annoying#because sometimes they just are (eg the amount of people who just don’t like obiwan in pbatmb like?? yeah of course he’s not gonna be nice#but I digress lol#anyway but there’s a threshold of when comments about not liking a character go too far and you’re just like.#saying mean things about the writing itself and that’s not something lm gonna allow to be normalized#no matter the intention behind it#you do not type a comment like this knowing it wil be send to an author#who will get an email notification about a comment#click on it and go oooo long comment :D and then go oh.#you don’t do that it’s rude it’s being a jerk#I’ve been here for like 3 almost 4 years I feel ancient in this fandom sometimes#and I’ve gotten so much feedback on my work through that time and so many nice comments and community#but mean comments can really hurt especially new writers#and they can make people who maybe would write fic for a fandom decide to not#like this isn’t even that mean I can almost see the writer just wanting to say how they feel#but sometimes you do not have to 🙏#also I just think this understanding of the characterizations in the fic and probably their understanding of the characters in the films#is a wee bit trash but that’s for me to say in the long tags of my own blog post and not for me to comment on their fics for the fandom#(they don’t have any but I did check because 3am kit felt nosy)

When Maul and Obiwan touch foreheads in a piece of writing, my lifespan increases.
This was partly based on a scene in @nicolabarth's fic, Rage and Hope. Go check it out if you haven't already :)

I really really really love Master and Apprentice, not least because Claudia Gray is standing as a lone bulwark against the mass woobification of young Obi-Wan Kenobi and letting him be the sullen, snappish teenager (with the tendency to lash out when he feels he’s been wronged) we deserve.
This is not my first time through this book but this time around it’s just cracking me up how incredibly, utterly seventeen he is in it, how the whole book is full of Qui-Gon’s guilt-ridden internal monologue about how he’s failing Obi-Wan as a teacher and it’s all his fault, how can he ever fix what’s gone wrong - and then we snap into Obi-Wan’s mind and he’s like, yeah. yep. he is. I’m so frustrated with him and it’s all his fault. his Special Interests are annoying and he doesn’t understand me and I don’t understand him and I wish he’d leave me alone but also how DARE he leave me I need him I admire him I wish I understood him why is he like this???
and of course neither is 100% right and neither is 100% wrong and it is about finding understanding and learning to communicate and learning to listen and how affection and love can exist even when understanding has yet to be reached, but SPECIFICALLY the teenage angst in it is extremely funny to me, because Obi-Wan being mean on purpose (and on accident) is frankly one of my favorite things about him and bless this book for giving it to me.

*Hits Obi-Wan with disability & scar beam*
Anyways I can't sleep so fuck it Obi-Wan post Kenobi series if Disney weren't cowards and let him actually have scars & disabilities with everything he's gone through. Also he's trans.
Rambling about his scars & disabilities under the cut:
The cane & limp come from his battle with Dooku in Attack of The Clones when he gets his leg sliced with a lightsaber because there's no way he walked away from that so easily.
Tumblr media
The scar on his chest is from when he literally got shot at the start of the Deception Arc. His death was fake but him getting shot wasn't!
Tumblr media
The back scars are from the Zygerria Arc because we saw him get whipped and tortured on screen. He definitely has scars from that
Tumblr media
The burn scars are very clearly from Vader setting him on fire. He's not walking away from that without scars! He's severely burned!
Tumblr media
While the blindness & deafness in his right ear are caused by the burns, as well as the tremors, his hearing loss in his left ear is not! Obi-Wan is often very close to explosions during The Clone Wars and being that close is definitely going to damage his hearing. Therefore he would have hearing loss, prior to the burns he already had hearing loss in his right ear too, in fact it was the same as in his left. Now he's completely deaf in that ear, he can still somewhat hear things in that ear but it is entirely muffled to the point he can't always make out what's being said.
We see that in canon Obi-Wan does in fact suffer from PTSD, as the Kenobi Series clearly depicts. But alongside this he deals with both Depression and Anxiety as well.
I also think he might be on the autism spectrum as well.

The Rattatak origin for Asajj and Ky is very important to me because there's something so special about this bond between someone who's been raised to fight, whose parents were warlords, and a Jedi, a peacekeeper. That part is present in the canon origin, but not as much, and is only brought in later on, with Dooku: Jedi Lost's expansion on their story (which draws from the Rattatak origin so much!!!). I also think that, while Asajj is lost as a character, she should think she's right. She should think she has things backing her, at all times. Having her legacy of war and becoming a warlord herself on Rattatak means so much to her and TCW just... misses that point. The way I understand her, which is my interpretation from everything about her in Legends, she strives for power even though she has a lot of it. She has a castle on Rattatak, at least one loyal guard, a prison, and a life. Republic #60 presents this unexplored part of her story that actually adds so much to the depth of the character. She didn't choose it, not at first, but she uses the power Dooku gave her, and she has power of her own.
There's something about her in her (only) 12 Legends comic issues that gives her much more independence and character depth than I feel TCW has ever done. She is a blind servant of power, of Dooku, yes, but there's more of her. another thing that almost doesn't exist in canon, and doesn't exist in TCW at all, is Asajj and Ky's role on Rattatak.
"On her own, Asajj would have died. Left to his own devices, the stranger would have undoubtedly been captured and killed. But together they became something our world had never known... They became heroes. They ended wars and united armies. And as their legend grew..." -Osika Kirske, Republic #60
In TCW, Ky's a savior to her most of all. Rattatak isn't that much of a hostile and unfamiliar environment, and Dooku: Jedi Lost even implies he could have taken Asajj to Coruscant. But here, it's their partnership that saved them both. And they weren't only partners, they were heroes to Rattatak, a land of war and conflict. It's important that she's more than a Jedi. Rattatak was her life, not a place she as taken to as a baby. It's also important that she is from Rattatak (while Ky isn't), to not be a, you know, foreign (white) savior story. Another quote from Kirske in Republic #60 while I'm at it, about Asajj after she met Dooku.
"After her mentor's death, Ventress assembled an army. She learned new tricks from other off-worlders. She waged war on us all... She killed or captured all who would oppose her..."
Again, I don't think her being from Rattatak gives her any more right to conquer the planet (which she didn't do in TCW because god forbid she does anything but look sexy while fighting Obi-Wan in season 1), but it does make sense for her. Meeting Dooku changes her perspective, and while she still views herself as a Jedi, she feels she has more right to be a Jedi than Obi-Wan or anyone else (calling him a false Jedi). I don't think George Lucas thought all of that through when he said he wanted to make Asajj a Nightsister. Hell, I don;t think he read Republic #60. I think elements from that issue were even incorporated into the show in the first place because they just had to fill the gaps. Still, I talk a lot about how I hate that retcon and I truly do, but I never really explained it. Can't imagine this was clear as a rant but I did just want to write some of this down.
Lastly, just the concept of a fully grown Jedi learning from and teaching this feisty child how to fight in this war and how to be on this planet is. priceless. I love it.

Question from here
22. Why the actual fuck did Obi-Wan let Vader live on that unnamed moon and does that make him just as culpable for his atrocities?
The short answer to this (other than 'Vader has plot armour' which, duh), is that Obi-Wan lets him live because he finally let go of his attachment to Anakin.
It's the culmination of his story throughout the series, the final Release from the weight he'd yoked around himself for a whole fucking decade. As a Jedi, why would he kill an unarmed (disarmed) man who can barely breathe?
Even during the war, Obi-Wan captured Separatist leaders whenever possible, he didn't kill unless given no other option. That's the Jedi way. As an individual, you don't decide that people deserve to die.
We obviously know, outside the GFFA universe as we are, that Anakin does go on to commit further atrocities, but Obi-Wan doesn't have that certainty. And killing on the basis of "I think he might—" is how you wind up killing innocent people, actually. There's a reason the death penalty has been abolished in so much of the world.
Does letting Vader live make Obi-Wan culpable for his atrocities? No. No more than the bacta technician is culpable because he didn't poison Vader's bacta, no more than any of us are culpable for the violence or damage done by people we used to know, once, a decade and a lifetime ago.

Obikin body swap idea: getting to see how the other half lives. Anakin just being super flustered by the idea that when he touches himself he's touching his master even for innocent things like running his fingers through his hair or getting to touch his beard.
Meanwhile Obi-Wan is trying to cope with how overstimulating Anakin's connection to the force is and even the best shields only dampen it slightly. Inner peace? He doesn't know her.
ooo i feel like when we talk about obikin body swap, this is always what we go with (overwhelmed by his master's body! anakin and overwhelmed by how anakin experiences the force! obi-wan), and it's good it's great i think these are great interpretations of the characters and i can see why it's such a popular take on obikin body swap
so what if that but also:
anakin overwhelmed by how little time obi-wan actually has to himself and how busy he is and him realizing that it's not that obi-wan purposefully doesn't spend as much time with him as he wants it's that obi-wan's body walks down a corridor and two younglings want him to give them a sparring demonstration, four Council meetings are scheduled, and one archives padawan is coming incessantly wanting to ask if he's ready for book club this week because she has thoughts on the last chapter
+
obi-wan unused to how strong he feels, how easy the Force suddenly is to manipulate; sure it's loud and i have a soft spot for that sort of headcanon about how anakin experiences the force, but i think we can't forget it wouldn't just just be overstimulating for anakin: it makes him powerful as fuck. obi-wan feels tired and the mechno arm hurts and it's straining his shoulder so he decides to use the force to call his datapaad over from its charging spot, but it zooms over so fast it shatters on impact with the wall
+
anakin overwhelmed by the new and unfamiliar aches and pains of obi-wan's body, the way he hurts when he wakes up, the way long space travel makes him feel sick and stiff
+
obi-wan realizing how persistent the chancellor is when it comes to comming and meeting anakin for lunch--oh lunch won't work what about tea oh tea won't work what about opera----
+
anakin trying spicy food for the first time in obi-wan's body and he's.... actually fine???? cue realizing that obi-wan was just pretending when he was younger to not like spicy food the bastard. (upon confrontation, obi-wan says, 'well it just seemed to mean so much to you on a personal level that i wouldn't be able to handle the heat of tatooinian food, i didn't want to disappoint you but you should really try stewjoni cuisine')
+
obi-wan realizing quite quickly that uh. anakin was not ever faking his very low alcohol tolerance
