Aioane gets Sayyid a custom sapphire-and-lapis chessboard, with the pieces made of whale ivory and carved to look like individual ships in Sayyid’s fleet. And a machete in a jewel-encrusted sheath with a fancy hilt. Because Aioane thinks moderation is something that happens to other people.

Earlier, Neirin gave Sayyid a harp suited to her smaller hands, which he’d made himself.

He probably never gave the Boneseer anything except their survival, because he’s horrible.Though maybe he left them like, some meat he hunted or something

Eryali is also horrible! But she may well have given Boneseer a shiny pebble, or else a perfectly articulated bird skeleton, hung in front of their cave door in hopes of spooking them when they walked out.

I… lol what booties? I’m… I’m not even gonna try and explain these much, but this is the question i’ve been asked and by jove I’m bound to answer.

1. Adicia. Decent booty. Maybe a solid 6/10.

Least self-preservation?

1. Minthe. Oh god, Minthe. The woman passed out drunk in the middle of an open alleyway just before dawn. She fell in some complicated form of love with and subsequently courted the troll responsible for the loss of her arm, while attempting to get revenge on them. She jumped off of the wall of Eryali’s lighthouse routinely. She was made of unsafe decisions.

2. Aioane probably should have not made jokes about her revenge schemes to the people she was scheming about. Also, possibly less arson and less falling head over heels for dangerous ladies… would have been better for her health… possibly.

3. Adicia was a mature and responsible adult with duties to her land and vassals to think of, and therefore wasn’t foolhardy or reckless with her life. But she did like fighting and she did like hunting and she did have more or less unlimited authority – so she took any available opportunity to just wreck stuff. And/or boarhunt.

4. Neirin was a pretty cautious dude for his time – but then, caution wasn’t exactly a defining trait of Kirog Leth culture. Maybe he wouldn’t jump at the chance to put himself in harm’s way, but he was no stranger to the adrenaline rush of, say, riding in a charge on another kingdom, or insulting a boorish member of the court to their face.

5. Despite myriad Bad Decisions, Eryali at least tried to stay out of trouble, and so claims the coveted “least deficit of self-preservation” spot on this list. That’s what happens when even the potential of getting hurt has you faking your death and moving across the continent, I guess.

Most appearance conscious!

1. Aioane! By a long shot, tbh. She put considerable effort into maintaining her image of artful and opulent dishevelment – the sort of “my clothes are still worth more than your life, but I can afford to pass out in the dirt while wearing them” vibe.

2. Neirin liked to be well-put-together and got extremely fussy about it – right up until the point when something made him furious enough to wade into mud and gore himself. His clothes were always the latest fashion, usually from outside Kirog Leth.

3. Adicia cared about appearances only insofar as they related to how much her subjects respected her. A liege of Kirog Leth was expected to wear bright colors, lots of jewelry, and long hair – left to herself, she would probably have mostly worn deep orange/one bracelet/a few earrings, and shaved her head.

4. Eryali didn’t care about her physical appearance (except that she got anxious when people paid attention to it), but she was very conscious of how she was perceived by others. Hence freaking out at PDA.

5. Maybe Minthe had once been proud, or at least bothered to comb her hair once in a while. But by the time she stumbled into Eryali’s life, she could not care less what she looked like, as long as she got what she needed.

Eryali would rather die than participate in PDA, she could not stand the thought of anyone knowing that she had feelings and relationships. =:-[

Neirin had a pale crush as a wee bab, but it did not work out, and he left his crush behind when he went journeying to Kirog Leth.

💗 What advice would they give a potential partner about making their relationship last if they could with no judgment?

Neirin would say that making the relationship last was unlikely in the extreme, and accepting that would be the best way to have as much fun during the relationship’s course as possible.

Eryali would say not to try to figure anything out about her, or assume that she was going to stay with them forever, or try and possess her in any way, or tell people that she exists, or claim that she’s their quadrant, or switch quadrants or– (Eryali was not very good at relationships)

Aioane would say that their political views have to align with hers, and they have to be prepared for a life of danger, since she was essentially running a long con that targeted the nobility.

💌 When was their first serious relationship?

Aioane had a kismesis that she got together with at maybe 7-8 sweeps old, and stayed with until she was imprisoned. Said kismesis did not get the memo about Aioane’s escape, and presumed her dead.

Neirin didn’t really have serious relationships, just a series of torrid flings – primarily in pitch and ash, but occasionally in the red quadrants. (The difficulty with red flings is that Adicia tended to get… jealous.)

The seriousness of Eryali’s relationships was likewise debatable, but the first relationship she had that made her panic enough to fake her death would have been when she was about… nine? Maybe?

💖 How do they say ‘I love you’ without really saying it?

Aioane lavished gifts on people she cared about, spent a lot of time with them, draped herself across them when tired, and… also made their enemies her business, often “disappearing” people who threatened or offended her loved ones.

Neirin would be more attentive to their preferences and desires, stop gossiping about them, and compose songs more in their honor than ridiculing them. But usually he avoided showing much interest! Because the only person he really, deeply cared about was Adicia anyway.

Speaks the most languages?

1. Minthe probably spoke at least eight – being an ex-spy, she was expected to, and retained fluency even after she fell from grace.

2. Eryali was somewhere in the 3-5 range, due to hopping around the world all the time. She liked Hindi best.

3. Aioane spoke three – Imperial, French, and her home dialect of Catalan. She spoke mostly Imperial in her later sweeps, with French for the #aesthetic.

4. Neirin spoke Imperial, the Kirog Leth dialect, and whatever smattering of Mandarin he picked up from his squire Sayyid

5. Adicia spoke only the Kirog Leth dialect and did not bother to learn more than like two words of Imperial

💖 How do they say ‘I love you’ without really saying it?

She might tolerate you touching her, or (less likely) touch you herself – combing your hair, brushing her hand against your arm as she passed. She’d also spend more time around you, actually remember things that you tell her about yourself, and take an active interest in your well-being (despite actively pretending she’s not interested at all.)

😕 Have they ever said ‘I love you’ without meaning it?

Very, very often, to a lot of people, without many qualms. Eryali wasn’t particularly good at feelings, and would tell people their sentiments were reciprocated to avoid any hassle (and then “die” shortly afterward).

How would Taz and Vide feel about each other's ancestors?

Taz would understand Eryali’s penchant for paranoia and approve of it, but then she’d realize the amount of melodrama with which Eryali goes about her daily business and be… just completely flabbergasted. “Like… do you need help faking your death? Because there’s way more efficient ways to do this – wait, you’re doing this WHY? –Aaand you’re gone again. Okay then.”

Vide would be deeply horrified by Aioane’s murderous and arsonous ways but would also think she was impossibly hot, because of the teeth and the scars and the aura of mystique. She’d try and meddle politely to prevent Aioane’s schemes, slip up and call Aioane pretty, panic, pap her directly in the face –  and then Aioane would realize what was going on, be like “…no, nope, you’re like twelve, I’m not dealing with this” and ditch her immediately.

WE’RE LIMITING THIS TO TROLLS because I don’t wanna go back to the dark place that was pre-troll RP. Vide, Nexus (her first moirail), and Cephas (Nexus’s auspistice) were the first trolls I ever designed, all at more or less the same time! In, like. Mid-2010.

📌 7. Do you have characters that you know you’ll never use, but can’t bear to get rid of/recycle?

Answered (twice), but ALSO: Adicia (Neirin’s Liege) and her hypothetical descendant are some of my favorite designs that I’ve ever made, and I can’t use them because Adicia’s dead and her descendant was never born ;n;

Answered! It’s Weeds. It’s always Weeds.

🖤 9. Is there a character that embodies your bad traits? Several characters? Which ones and what traits?

Like Mar, these are traits that I work on when I can -- but my flaws are the ones I know best, and I think flaws are the most interesting part of a character anyway so, yeah, I do this a lot.

VIDELE has my desire to be liked by everybody and the “if I’m not the best at X then my life is over” mentality I’m STILL wrestling with. Also, when I was younger I had a Real Problem with hero-worshipping an older sibling/friend/teacher that’s echoed in Vide’s treatment of her first moirail and Jerath -- but I think we’re both developed out of that, haha.

WIDSTH borrows my tendency to overshare and/or drag every conversation towards myself/my interests and....... not much else, since his flaws are borrowed from someone else :p

TAZ and ERYALI both have my anxiety which leads (in their cases and mine) to caginess and acting aloof as a way to avoid being hurt. Taz also gets the bonus GET REALLY DEFENSIVE AND MAD WHEN PEOPLE TREAT YOU DIFFERENT BECAUSE OF HOW YOU DRESS that was... my entire middle-school persona :’)

Neirin, Aioane, and Adicia do not have any of my flaws apart from the ones the former two share with their descendants
