ANCESTORS
So, these are my guys ancestors!
Pheres’s ancestor: Thetis Dysseu, Deadeyes, and the founder of the Dyssue/Cuckoo line. She was bought to serve the gladiator rings shortly after leaving the caverns, where she worked for the majority of her adult life, even after she paid off her bag. She was only enticed away from the business when a blueblood aristocrat hired her to serve as her matesprit, the Courtier Vavavoom,’s personal guardian, and the captain of a guard - a proposition that ultimately ended in tragedy, as Thetis fell pale for her charge, and when her charge began to dabble in rebellion against the Empire, felt obliged to help cover her tracks. Thetis’s intervention was discovered, and she was publicly executed.
Rmeros’s ancestor: Medeia Cuckoo, the direct descendant of Thetis. She was plucked from the caverns to serve as a part of a helmsfleet at a young age, which is where she grew up: coddled and educated, with broken fingers and injured legs to ensure that she could entertain her buyer, but couldn’t actually escape. In her adolescence, the fleet facility was raided by a faction of the Summoner’s rebellion, and whereas the rest of the helms fled to freedom, she chose to join with them instead, using her training and her accumulated knowledge to infiltrate a major spaceport and research station as the head of bioengineering’s personal assistant. When her deception was discovered, Daedal set a trap for Medeia that backfired: Medeia used her body-jumping ability to escape, stealing Daedal’s and sacrificing her own, and her current whereabouts are unknown.
Sipara’s ancestor: Daedal Nzinga, one of history’s greatest bioengineers despite her caste. She cut off her own arm as a teenager and incorporated biowire directly into it, creating an ability to hook directly into the brains of helmsmen through it, and setting the first stages of simply forcibly rewriting the brains of helmsmen instead of bothering with traditional conditioning. By the time she was in her sixties, she was one of the leading researchers on the planet, and was the head of her own facility and space-port during the Summoner’s Rebellion. When Medeia joined the facility as her personal assistant, the two of them quickly became matesprits - but that fact didn’t stop Daedal, as soon as she realised Medeia had rebellious tendencies, from setting up an imperial sting and attempting to lead Medeia into it. It failed. Medeia stole her body, killing her mind in the process.
Liyiji’s ancestor: Sayyid Jiahuu, the Luckless.  She spent her early childhood in Mentra’s country, fleeing when it fell to the Empire into the Kirog Leth, where she became the brief squire of Neirin Orpheo: when he betrayed his queen and the country fell, she barely managed to escape with her life, setting what would quickly become the theme of the rest of it. To deal with her anxiety, she leaned into drinking and aggression, which led her to dominating most of the coastline at the time with her fleet of pirates, hassling the newly formed Tyrian Empire as well as any states foolish enough to hold out. During one brief arrest, she met Aioane Tasend, helped her escape from their scheduled executions - and found herself actually lingering afterwards, soothed by her presence into a moirallegience she couldn’t quite bring herself to address. When Aioane fled from the coastline to join Sayyid’s fleet and drowned before reaching her, Sayyid reacted badly, and retreated further into her alcoholism. She died on sea.
Riccin’s ancestor: the Boneseer. They were a powerful psionic who lived in the countryside of Kirog Leth, where their lusus brought them when they were very, very young. Lowbloods were rare enough in the area that they were captured in their youth and placed into one of the Kirog Leth travelling side-shows as a novelty until they managed to escape: subsequently, they were incredibly leery of strangers, utterly convinced their own powers were witchcraft, and tended to identify as “it”, as, given they were one of a scarce handful of lowbloods in the region, they were clearly a product of the divine, and no troll at all. Capricious and prone to aggressive fronting, but averse to actual conflict: more keen to hide away from strangers, until their curiousity got the best of them. They befriended Neirin Orpheo and his apprentice, Sayyid Jiaahu, prior to his death and the fall of his kingdom, and after it, stayed hidden in the forests for the rest of their life.

My Fancestors
Following Mirk's lead, here's a brief intro to my fancestors
Vatrra's ancestor: Dierum Asilas/Forgeman was a hyper-aggressive blacksmith who hated her job and her life. She was in an unstable flush/pale smear with Keihas Hestur until his untimely death, which caused her to abandon society in favor of screaming into nature for a few years before eventually calming down coming back to her job on her own terms. She was known as a great weaponsmith and provided weapons to (and maybe got involved with) Freyon Harjax/Warmaster, sort of had a strange pseudo-friendship with Eriyali Rennis, and many others. Dierum was known for being ill-tempered and brutal, but her weapons and her armor were finer than almost anything out there at the time. Dierum moved far from where she and Keihas had lived.
Vittez's Ancestor: Keihas Hestur was a young soldier who joined a watch to keep his city safe. He was killed in an unexpected attack from a rivaling city. Keihas was in an unstable pale/flush smear with Dierum Asilas, and most of his spare time had been spent keeping her in check for the good of other people.
Warron's Ancestor: Azaron Taucer/The Botanist/Revanent was once a simple botanist, though aggression from neighboring highbloods demolished her village and left her stranded far away from her former home. A good chunk of her life in between that point and the point where she began hearing about Aioane Tasend are vague, though she was rumored to have been killed and revived. They became matesprits and began a very big revenge scheme on all those who had wronged them. Their rampage ended in arson, murder, and the two planning to escape the trouble to Sayyid Jiaahu's fleet, though they never made it due to an unnatural storm and horrorterrors.
Sorrja's Ancestor: Arvaas Uhruhz. ???
Ennkoh's Ancestor: The Martyred/Tienne Poulpe is hailed as a clowny saint for her martyrdom in the early days of the empire. She was known for being huge, in control of terrifyingly strong voodoos, and being very capricious. Tienne was staunchly against seadwellers conquering the land, but grew to see the benefits of the mirthful working with the budding empire. She set out to be a bridge between the two, and was gladly martyred for it, which did in fact help the empire and the mirthful come together for the purpose of subjugation.
(Sielan, Rannen, Clavis, Corvus, and Scurra all have ancestors as well)

FANCESTOR INTRODUCTIONS
Late to my own event, but here we go!
1. Eryali Rennis [ancestor to Videle] [alias Pythoness Farsight, Priestess Pythonhair, Portress Seawatch, etc., etc.] [pre-Imperial Era; various locations on the continent]
Deeply paranoid and commitment-shy, Eryali felt unsafe constantly. She tried to present a mysterious and aloof vibe and keep people at arm’s length to hide her anxiety and surprising tendency to emotions; however, she was also incredibly lonely and couldn’t help becoming attached to one person or another. Inevitably, however, she’d decide that she was in too deep and that whoever she’d developed feelings for was going to betray and murder her -- so she’d fake her death in some dramatic and high-profile way, run as far away as she could get, take on a new identity, and begin the cycle again. She passed through many other people’s stories like a ghost, growing increasingly wracked with guilt and loss as she went.
2.  Neirin Orpheo  [ancestor to Widsth] [alias Lyricist Rendheart] [during the Tyrian conquest of Alternia; Kirog Leth]
Neirin was court bard to a pre-Imperial warlord, one Adicia Thengl, who had fought her way to the top of the heap of tiny, warring kingdoms in the mountainous north. When she rode out on hunting parties and raids upon their neighbors, Neirin rode at her side, carrying her banner and singing songs in her honor. As his liege, he considered her far too far above him to propose any quadrant -- so he kept his enormous crush on her a secret, never guessing that she was hiding similar feelings for him. His supposedly unrequited pining increased his melancholic tendencies, which were only matched by his proclivity for vicious gossip. When the Fire Nation Tyrian Empire attacked, Neirin betrayed his kingdom for the promise that Adicia would be spared, but was betrayed in turn: Adicia was nearly the first to die, and most of her warriors followed her within minutes in a brutal ambush. Filled with grief and rage, Neirin gathered his few remaining countrytrolls and led a guerrilla revolt against the Empire. It failed, of course, and both Neirin and his liege have been purged thoroughly from history as a result.
3. Aioane Tasend [ancestor to Taz]  [alias Comtesse Goldhand] [post-Sufferer Rebellion, pre-Summoner Rebellion; Llunegloirs/Unnamed Capital City]
Officially speaking, Aioane Tasend died in a remote prison in the East Alternian sea for crimes against the Empire. Crimes that were never specified, to be sure, but the bright violet of the signature on her warrant ensured no questions were asked, except, perhaps, why she was imprisoned rather than executed. Regardless, there was no reason for anyone to connect an officially-deceased criminal with the glittering indigo heiress who swept into the Empress’s planetside capital some sweeps later, rapidly becoming famous for her eccentricity and her lavish parties. Wild and mysterious, unbelievably open-handed with her friends and viciously ruthless with her enemies, she dazzled the aristocracy for a sweep and a half before vanishing with all her treasure, her employees, and her personal yacht just at the peak of an inexplicable rash of arson that ravaged the city. The victims of these fires appeared to have nothing connecting them, and the entire incident is shrouded in uncertainty even today -- after all, who would have bothered to see if the victims had anything to do with Aioane’s imprisonment?
4. Ssilda Tialye [ancestor to Sgt. Firewall] [alias Redeemer Senmorta] [pre-Imperial era; Malaltaj]
In ancient nights, Ssilda ruled a city. The head of a horrorterror-worshipping cult, she controlled thousands with promises of eternal life, of power beyond their wildest dreams granted by the Elder Gods. In time, war with nearby cities and increasingly dark rituals eroded her people’s faith in her: she was cast out into the wilderness, with only her most slavishly devoted followers remaining to her. But Ssilda’s pact with the horrorterrors ran deep even then; she built a lair in the wilderness and began, slowly, to gather strength and minions and sacrifices while remaining undercover, until she became almost a creature out of nightmare for the surrounding regions. Most importantly, her claims of immortality seem to be at least partially true, because Ssilda and her cult are still very much alive.

✍17,18,16,19 for Aioane!
For every ✍ + a number I receive, I will share one headcanon for my muse about…
17. …how good they are with technology. For her time, fairly good! She made it a point to stay on top of all the latest scientific and technological discoveries, on the basis of staying on top of fashion. And also making sure nobody had invented something that would unmask her yet.
18. …how they would describe their personality.“Ravishing,” in a heavy French accent, while winking at you so the light catches the jewels on her false eyelashes.
16. …what really scares them.Aioane was terrified of failing at her plans! She could have lived with virtually anything except vanishing into obscurity and futility – she saw it as proving the troll that imprisoned her right in assuming that she was insignificant and powerless.
19. …what makes them happy. She would say vengeance! But actually, she just loved giving people things. She showered her quadrants in gifts whenever possible.

⁇⁇ and ancestor edition version!
>:D
Eryali -> Boneseer
Why won’t you leave me alone?
Who died and made you Empress of the fortunetellers, huh?
You don’t… actually buy what you’re selling people, do you?
What’s that supposed to mean?
Do… do you eat bones?!
Aioane -> Sayyid
Did you leave anyone behind when you went to prison?
Don’t you think you’ve had enough for tonight?
Do you miss sleeping on the floor sometimes?
Is it irresponsible of me to want to be with Azaron, for a while, before this whole thing goes down?
Am I doing the right thing?

🎁ancestors of choice >:D
Omg omg omg >:D
Aioane gets Sayyid a custom sapphire-and-lapis chessboard, with the pieces made of whale ivory and carved to look like individual ships in Sayyid’s fleet. And a machete in a jewel-encrusted sheath with a fancy hilt. Because Aioane thinks moderation is something that happens to other people.
Earlier, Neirin gave Sayyid a harp suited to her smaller hands, which he’d made himself.
He probably never gave the Boneseer anything except their survival, because he’s horrible.Though maybe he left them like, some meat he hunted or something
Eryali is also horrible! But she may well have given Boneseer a shiny pebble, or else a perfectly articulated bird skeleton, hung in front of their cave door in hopes of spooking them when they walked out.

💬 for Aioane, when she met Azaron?
Comtesse Goldhand16 sweeps || ~34 Earth yearsThe City of Falling Stars, southwestern Imperial Spaceport and cultural hub
You know the moment that she enters your ballroom – though your servants do not announce her, though she makes no sound as she passes the great doors. She is a flash of vibrant red in this sea of blues and violets, and around her, your guests turn to stare. Silence spreads across the room in ripples until all conversation has ceased; even the music falters to a stop.
“Ah, Mademoiselle Botanist!” You straighten up from your customary sprawl; your voice rings out clearly in the sudden still. “Pray enter and be welcome.”
Her blood is near the lowest the spectrum has to offer, but she carries herself as proudly as an Heiress as she crosses the floor to where you sit. Whispers spring up behind her – tight knots of trolls hide their mouths behind fans or hands or glasses, their eyes flicking from you to your latest guest and back. She reaches you: she stands across the banquet table from you, looking down into your eyes, and she does not curtsy.
The whispers grow louder.
Your lips twitch involuntarily and you rise, skirts flaring, before anyone takes exception to her discourtesy. “I am la Comtesse Goldenhand,” you announce in the rich, exotic accent you yourself have popularized. “As you must, of course, know. I confess, your attendance was a pleasure that I had hoped for, but had not dared to expect.”
The Botanist Vinescar smiles at you, eyes glittering above her dimpled cheeks, and your bloodpusher does a complicated leap. She is beautiful, as you have heard: short curls and soft curves, a few inches shorter than you.  Moreover, she is a lowblood living in this city of highblood glamour, and you are not the only one who burns to know why – merely the only one who dares invite her into your hive.
Even you, with your spies and bribed officials, know nothing of her earlier life beyond what rumor relates, and rumor is very dark indeed. Your watching guests are sure to be whispering tales of witchcraft and necromancy, of razed cities and slain nobility – Revenant, they name her, though never where she can hear. And just lately, your informants tell you, she has been asking questions… about you.
“How could I refuse?” she says now. “Such an exclusive invitation from such a fascinating hostess… I could not fail to be intrigued.” She turns to survey the block – her eyes pass through the audience as if they are of less merit than even the wallpaper, and land back upon you with an intensity that is almost palpable. “And your hive… it is quite lovely.”
“It is made so by your presence.” You give a predatory smile. “I have heard much about you, mademoiselle.”
“And I about you.” Her own smile is just wide enough to show fang. “But please, call me Vinescar.”
“Vinescar, then. Perhaps you ought not to believe all you hear; gossip can be such a dangerous thing.” Everyone is watching, far too closely for any freedom of inquiry. A turn upon the floor might offer you some scant privacy, and the added notoriety of having stood so close to the Revenant. Smoothly, despite the racing of your pulse, you step around the table and extend your hand – the flesh one, not the gold. “Would you honor me with a dance?”
Her smile grows almost mischievous; her long ears flick forward. “A dance without music sounds an awkward one, Comtesse.”
Your eyes do not leave her face as you raise your hands and clap briskly. You are rewarded by another sparkle of her deep orange eyes when the musicians scramble into position and begin once again to play. This time, you say nothing – merely reach out to Vinescar again.
Her hand, when she rests it in yours, is the warmest thing you’ve touched in decades, and her first steps onto the floor are practiced. Investigation, you decide, will have to wait.

Best booty for the ranking thing?
I… lol what booties? I’m… I’m not even gonna try and explain these much, but this is the question i’ve been asked and by jove I’m bound to answer.
1. Adicia. Decent booty. Maybe a solid 6/10.
2. Minthe.
3. Aioane.
4. Eryali.
5. Neirin. Pancake.

Least self-preservation?
1. Minthe. Oh god, Minthe. The woman passed out drunk in the middle of an open alleyway just before dawn. She fell in some complicated form of love with and subsequently courted the troll responsible for the loss of her arm, while attempting to get revenge on them. She jumped off of the wall of Eryali’s lighthouse routinely. She was made of unsafe decisions.
2. Aioane probably should have not made jokes about her revenge schemes to the people she was scheming about. Also, possibly less arson and less falling head over heels for dangerous ladies… would have been better for her health… possibly.
3. Adicia was a mature and responsible adult with duties to her land and vassals to think of, and therefore wasn’t foolhardy or reckless with her life. But she did like fighting and she did like hunting and she did have more or less unlimited authority – so she took any available opportunity to just wreck stuff. And/or boarhunt.
4. Neirin was a pretty cautious dude for his time – but then, caution wasn’t exactly a defining trait of Kirog Leth culture. Maybe he wouldn’t jump at the chance to put himself in harm’s way, but he was no stranger to the adrenaline rush of, say, riding in a charge on another kingdom, or insulting a boorish member of the court to their face.
5. Despite myriad Bad Decisions, Eryali at least tried to stay out of trouble, and so claims the coveted “least deficit of self-preservation” spot on this list. That’s what happens when even the potential of getting hurt has you faking your death and moving across the continent, I guess.

Most appearance conscious!
1. Aioane! By a long shot, tbh. She put considerable effort into maintaining her image of artful and opulent dishevelment – the sort of “my clothes are still worth more than your life, but I can afford to pass out in the dirt while wearing them” vibe.
2. Neirin liked to be well-put-together and got extremely fussy about it – right up until the point when something made him furious enough to wade into mud and gore himself. His clothes were always the latest fashion, usually from outside Kirog Leth.
3. Adicia cared about appearances only insofar as they related to how much her subjects respected her. A liege of Kirog Leth was expected to wear bright colors, lots of jewelry, and long hair – left to herself, she would probably have mostly worn deep orange/one bracelet/a few earrings, and shaved her head.
4. Eryali didn’t care about her physical appearance (except that she got anxious when people paid attention to it), but she was very conscious of how she was perceived by others. Hence freaking out at PDA.
5. Maybe Minthe had once been proud, or at least bothered to comb her hair once in a while. But by the time she stumbled into Eryali’s life, she could not care less what she looked like, as long as she got what she needed.

random Aioane things, as I write this drabble
I mentioned in a skype conversation months ago that this image is the most Aioane/Azaron thing I’ve ever seen, and it still is. (Also kind of Taz/Warron, but their ancestors are classier.)
Aioane’s golden hand had claws made out of diamond, but if you think she didn’t replace the ring-finger one with ruby/some red-orange gemstone after she started dating Azaron, IDK what to tell you.
(at the same time, she replaced the middle-finger one with sapphire. She did not explain why.)
She really, really liked candles, and had an average of a hundred in any given room at any given time. She Phantom of the Opera’d her decor, basically. It’s hard to tell if this was independent of her inclination towards arson or not.
The vast majority of her treasure is in a giant, dragon’s-hoard-esque pile in the lowest room of her secret island hideout, because she thought it looked cool. Taz wishes she would have bothered to organize it, at least a little. >:1

Kronos for Neirin, Thanatos for Eryali, Hera for Aioane!
Kronos: What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever eaten?
The ſtill-beating Heart of a Troll… ‘Twas nowhere near as exhilarating a Moment as the Legends wouldſt portray it, however. I had Great Diffi€ulties in €onſuming it entirely, and I €are not to repeat the experien€e.
Thanatos: Is there anyone you just really, really hate?
Mn. Xometimex I hate the thief-girl, for her curioxity and her xnooping and her following me everywhere. But that never laxtx long. Xhe ix too pathetic and dixaxtroux to properly hate.
Hera: Are you the jealous type?
–>↑ must adm→t that ↑ am, cher→e. ↑ s→mply cannot ab→de any attempts to come between me and my beloved!
–>But ↑ also trust my beloved without reservat→on. She →s her own troll, and no one’s possesson –> and →f she says ↑ have no cause for alarm, then ↑ do not!

💗💌💖 for all three, or just the girls if you have a pref!
💗 What advice would they give a potential partner about making their relationship last if they could with no judgment?
Neirin would say that making the relationship last was unlikely in the extreme, and accepting that would be the best way to have as much fun during the relationship’s course as possible.
Eryali would say not to try to figure anything out about her, or assume that she was going to stay with them forever, or try and possess her in any way, or tell people that she exists, or claim that she’s their quadrant, or switch quadrants or– (Eryali was not very good at relationships)
Aioane would say that their political views have to align with hers, and they have to be prepared for a life of danger, since she was essentially running a long con that targeted the nobility.
💌 When was their first serious relationship?
Aioane had a kismesis that she got together with at maybe 7-8 sweeps old, and stayed with until she was imprisoned. Said kismesis did not get the memo about Aioane’s escape, and presumed her dead.
Neirin didn’t really have serious relationships, just a series of torrid flings – primarily in pitch and ash, but occasionally in the red quadrants. (The difficulty with red flings is that Adicia tended to get… jealous.)
The seriousness of Eryali’s relationships was likewise debatable, but the first relationship she had that made her panic enough to fake her death would have been when she was about… nine? Maybe?
💖 How do they say ‘I love you’ without really saying it?
Eryali’s is answered here!
Aioane lavished gifts on people she cared about, spent a lot of time with them, draped herself across them when tired, and… also made their enemies her business, often “disappearing” people who threatened or offended her loved ones.
Neirin would be more attentive to their preferences and desires, stop gossiping about them, and compose songs more in their honor than ridiculing them. But usually he avoided showing much interest! Because the only person he really, deeply cared about was Adicia anyway.

Speaks the most languages?
1. Minthe probably spoke at least eight – being an ex-spy, she was expected to, and retained fluency even after she fell from grace.
2. Eryali was somewhere in the 3-5 range, due to hopping around the world all the time. She liked Hindi best.
3. Aioane spoke three – Imperial, French, and her home dialect of Catalan. She spoke mostly Imperial in her later sweeps, with French for the #aesthetic.
4. Neirin spoke Imperial, the Kirog Leth dialect, and whatever smattering of Mandarin he picked up from his squire Sayyid
5. Adicia spoke only the Kirog Leth dialect and did not bother to learn more than like two words of Imperial
