i am :pinched_fingers: THIS CLOSE to blocking the hazbin/helluva critical tags. its so fucking irritating to read that shit, cause most of it is just nonsense! things that don't matter! "Oh no viv likes the main character and his love interest! is this why people who hate the main character are portrayed as antagonists?" like holy shit its so annoying. the show is called "helluva boss" guess who the boss is.

and then with hazbin hotel, some of the criticism i understand (like specifically the parts about racism are points i can't argue against. cause every POC i see is agreeing with it and im white so like,, who the fuck would i be to say "erm actually" about it) but the other criticism is like... "theres too many stereotypes" "angels theme song is too stereotypical" like ok some things are stereotypes but look at the parts of the characters that you're laser-focused away from. people talk shit about the bad queer rep, but like. idk man, hazbin hotel as a show hasnt come out yet. Helluva boss has some criticism against it i guess, not as much as hazbin... that might be because there's less to criticise, but i also feel like that might be because hazbin isn't out yet lmao.

and this is the thing i hate about the internet, they dont enjoy new media, they analyse it to see if theres anything that annoys them, and then if too much annoys them they shit on it endlessly because shitting on things as a group is fun.

literally people are seeing how a24 is agreeing to the asks of the unions and the first thing they do is post about how they hope vivziepop promotes the show more.

maybe wait until the show comes out! stop making yourself stressed about the future of the show! have a little patience! I know its been "yeeeears" but for fucks sake we GOT a release date. vivziepop never promised a release date before now, and now we have an estimated release date, so why not chill? why feel so entitled?

i swear. whenever a new episode of helluva boss comes out, i race to the socials to just have fun with the community that enjoys the same show i do. i think "oh boy i sure do hope i've gotten here before the haters". if it wasn't like this, maybe i'd be less irritated about the more general discourse, but this is the situation we are stuck with. Do these people realise there's an actual... regular fanbase? Like, there's a fanbase for this show that engages with it normally. We speculate on where it might go, we talk about what we like about the show, and some of the things that missed the mark (in discord servers etc). Then inevitably a viv anti comes in the discord, causes a storm in the "discussion" channel, and leaves declaring that we are brainwashed. chill maybe

I thought this was supposed to be the "be indulgent and as OOC with your fav medias as you want" website? I'm just so sick of fans taking canon to heart so fucking much, that they can't even give enough room for headcanons or AUs to exist. Follow the Media Bible or be smited, I guess?

I'm sure there's TONS of other examples of this type of thing in other fandoms, but it's still so fucking annoying to see.

i felt the same way about todays episode tbh- like i thought it was just me because ive been watching a lot more watcher lately so i thought i just forgot that bfu has a slightly different vibe but something did feel kinda off. i think maybe the best thing to do here is just wait for the next couple episodes and see if it keeps feeling like this or if it goes back to normal but idk im new to this this is the first bfu episode thats come out since i started watching them

i was just scrolling thru the bfu:tc/bfu tags to see if anyone else was mentioning it but i didnt see anything so i was legit about to delete that post until you sent this in so now i know im not crazy 😅

ive been watching them for awhile now and honestly i cant really tell if they had become a little more forced throughout the eps but we never noticed it because the changes were so subtle over time or if its just weird to be back watching bfu after there hasnt been any eps for a bit. watcher definitely has allowed them to really deep dive into what content they want to create and the space they want to make on the internet... i think maybe just buzzfeed as a company is just a bit.. erm,, for lack of better term, problematic, and possibly it may be that because of the popularity of the show and the attention it has picked up over the years they kinda have to finish it out?

im not sure. i dont wanna push what i personally think onto what is reality because honestly thats just my perspective on it and it may just be so that it couldnt be further from the truth. maybe its just weird energy having returned to bfu after such a long break, doing a second true crime season in a row, and actually getting out of the damn house and back on a set! either way im sure it will be a great season as always 🙃

erm im not the original ask-er about leviathan but jsyk that isnt a spoiler? like the finale ended with the mention of leviathan and them being some ominous group or at least pulling strings with eve? i think? idk i dont read spoilers too and stay away from them mostly pretty well cause i dont watch the promos or sneek peaks or anything but i like guessing sometimes or hc stuff and thinking about what could be. do you not want questions or to hc any stuff we dont already know going forward?

Okay, so here's the thing: I have to be super vigilant about spoilers. 

Because if I get even a nugget of information about what's gonna happen in a season (be it a casting announcement for a new character, bts photos of a set or action scene, episode stills/synopsis, or any of the other numerous ways the CW spoils tf out of itself), my brain will latch onto it, and then spool out until it's mapped out the entire season.

At the risk of tooting my own horn, I have some really AWESOME ideas, and even if no one else agrees, I get really attached to my version of events, and I get LEGIT ANGRY when canon diverges from my perfect fantasy of how the season should go. 

That's what happened in Season 3, and that was a difficult season for me to watch as a result. Reducing my expectations down to zero improves my enjoyment of the series, and helps me focus more on what the show does right.

So what does that mean? I’ll still be posting my usual stuff, and I’ll still headcanon the crap out supercorp, and guardiancorp, and agentcorp, and pretty much every other ship, but I won’t be trying to fit it into canon, if that makes sense.

Since it’s actually going to happen this season, I will go ahead and clarify that the reveal/confrontation headcanons don’t count as spoilers and I will be happy to continue exploring the myriad ways it could play out (unless some detail is leaked by the show, in which case, I don’t want to know about it). Anything using the details we have as of the end of S4 is totally fair game.

Moving forward, all I ask is that y’all be mindful of your S5 spoilers and tag them appropriately. I have it blacklisted, but that only helps if the content is tagged! And the spoiler tag should be used for official content too-- whatever the CW releases is a spoiler until the episode airs.

It’s unlikely I’ll ever write it, I have way too many series and long fics going already, but I had some more thoughts. (Erm, this got longer than expected.=

So the two of them have acquired some information vital to the Rebellion, but their cover have been blown and the have to escape cross country on foot to get to the capital where they’ve left their ship.

Half way there they’re ambushed by an Imperial patrol. They split up while running one step ahead of the patrol, each carrying a copy of the data, to maximize the chance of the information gets to the Alliance.

After Bodhi takes off, Cassian makes a choice. He destroys his set of the data and allows himself to be captured planning on tricking the Imperials into thinking he was the only rebel agent and banking on his suicide back up. He knows that it’ll break Bodhi’s heart if he dies, even more so if he dies this way, but to him the mission, the need of the Alliance, will always come first.

Well Bodhi isn’t quite as far off as Cassian had thought he was and sees that Cassian is captured and knows that he won’t see Cassian alive again. But there’s no chance to save him and with a broken heart he continues to the capital.

When he finally gets there though there’s new all over the place that the Empire not only captured an Alliance agent, but when he tried to kill himself they stopped it, that this will lead into major breakthrough in the fight against the terrorist organization that calls themselves the Alliance. (You know the usual bs propaganda)

Bodhi is both overjoyed at the news - Cassian is still alive! - but also terrified. He knows how much Cassian knows about the Alliance, how much damage it could do to them and that the Empire will stop at nothing to get it out of him. He has to get Cassian out and it has to happen before he’s transported off planet for interrogation. (Btw Kay is there too, he’s the one who’s picked up much of the information about Cassian’s capture and him surviving his suicide attempt.)

In the mean time Cassian is getting increasingly desperate in his captivity. They’re watching him like hawk bats as he’s already tried to kill himself once and nearly succeeded. He first tries going without water, but that’s discovered and the guards make sure he consumes enough water and food that he won’t die.

After that, he gets aggressive. He attacks his captors every chance he gets - he¨s kept in isolation, so no chance of l picking a fight with another prisoner - hoping that when subduing him one of them will land a blow that kills him. But all of it to no avail.

On the outside Bodhi and Kay are scoping out the Imperial compound, trying to find a weakness, an attack vector. Bodhi manages to come up with a plan that might work, only problem is that he needs at least one, preferably two, more sets of hands to pull it off.

He knows he can’t ask Draven. The man won’t expend the resources needed to free an agent from Imperial custody and is more likely to declare Cassian a security risk and have him assassinated in his cell.

[From here my ideas get a bit more sketchy, I haven’t really thought much further so I’m making most of this up as I type. Bear with me.]

Rough outline is that Bodhi runs into Chirrut and Baze.

The two Guardians left the Rebellion soon after Sacrif for reasons I haven’t really settled on, but they did, and the two of them agree to help Bodhi and Kay rescue Cassian.

Queue, the rescue which, while they are successful, they only escape by the skin of their teeth.

Once they’re safely away and Cassian have been patched up, Chirrut and Baze leaves him and Bodhi alone to talk. All Cassian says is, “I’m sorry”.

And he is. He’s sorry that he broke Bodhi’s heart, that he’s caused him so much stress and pain. But he doesn’t apologize, because he can’t. Can’t because he knows, they both know, that given the same situation he’d do it all over again.

Bodhi thought he’d be relieved when Cassian was safely away, but seeing him sitting there on the bandaged and unapologetic, all he can feel is anger. And rather than say something he’ll regret he just turns around and walks out.

After this follows two conversations.

The first is between Cassian and Chirrut. It’s about being committed to something greater than yourself and what that can do to a relationship.

Cassian tells Chirrut that he can’t ask Bodhi to always put himself after the mission in a relationship, that that isn’t fair.to him. Chirrut tells him that that isn’t his choice to make, it’s Bodhi’s. And that whatever Bodhi decides Cassian should respect that, but that if Bodhi decides to stay, then he’s doing so not out of duty, but out of love for the man Cassian is. Commitments and all, and to always remember that. Though Cassian may end up paying a greater price if Bodhi do decide to stay than if he packs up and leaves.

The second is between Bodhi and Baze. This one about loving someone who’s committed to something else and how you deal with that. That it has nothing to do with them not loving you, or not wanting to prioritize you, but in their hearts they heart something and that trying to ignore that would break them, make them less than they could be.

Bodhi tells Baze that he doesn’t want Cassian to compromise himself, to lose that intergal part of who he is, but that he himself isn’t sure if he can live like that even if Baze can. Baze replies that only Bodhi can ever answer that question, bbut no matter what both he and Cassian will pay a price.

Bodhi asks him if there's anything that Baze regrets. “Yes,” Baze says. “That I left him for five years. That is time we’ll never get back.”

That night, while Baze and Chirrut are sound asleep and Kay powered down as well, Bodhi slips into Cassian’s room. He hovers just inside the door until Cassian, who was only dozing and heard him, turns over on the bed to face him.

“Can I sleep here?” Bodhi asks.

Cassian doesn’t answer in words, but scoots back on the bed until he’s up against the bulkhead, giving Bodhi room to slip beneath the covers. It isn’t until Bodhi has settled down, curling up against him that Cassian speaks.
