Heidi was my favorite part of the show. There were some very funny parts to the show, especially if you are a theater buff. There are about 10 mins of total blackouts, which is mostly a chunk in within the first 13 minutes. Depsite that, a nice capture and the audience was very into the show. Filmed nearly entirely through close-ups, which means a fair bit of the action is missed. Tootsie - Broadway - December, 2019 (theaterfan64's master) FORMAT: MOV (HD) CAST: Santino Fontana (Michael Dorsey/Dorothy Michaels), Lilli Cooper (Julie Nichols), Andy Grotelueschen (Jeff Slater), Sarah Stiles (Sandy Lester), John Behlmann (Max Van Horn), Julie Halston (Rita Marshall), Reg Rogers (Ron Carlisle), Michael McGrath (Stan Fields), Britney Coleman NOTES: Full stage shot of the show during it’s run on Broadway. There is washout, as it’s a full stage shot, but it is very very watchable. About 8 minutes is missing right before the Act 1 finale. Tootsie - Pre-Broadway / Chicago - September 11, 2018 (Preview) (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT: MP4 (HD) CAST: Santino Fontana (Michael Dorsey/Dorothy Michaels), Lilli Cooper (Julie Nichols), Andy Grotelueschen (Jeff Slater), Sarah Stiles (Sandy Lester), John Behlmann (Max Van Horn), Julie Halston (Rita Marshall), Reg Rogers (Ron Carlisle), Michael McGrath (Stan Fields), Anthony Wayne, Britney Coleman, Diana Vaden, Drew King, Harris Milgrim, James Moye, Jeff Kready, John Arthur Greene, Katerina Papacostas, Leslie Donna Flesner, Paula Leggett Chase, Shina Ann Morris NOTES: Excellent HD capture of the first PreBroadway preview performance. Just A Crush
Chapter 8: Letting You In
Castielxreader
Word Count: 3,692
Warnings: none... Cas still doesn't know yet, but something might happen sooner than you think...
Summary: Something inside of you clicks after your mother made a simple statement... How have you not realized how far gone you've been? Not only that, but is Cas acting a little... different with you?
“Hey Mama, we’re here,” you called out as you walked in the door, Cas following behind. You waited and slid your hand into his nonchalantly as the two of you shuffled down the hall, missing the stare he gave at your entwined fingers.
“In here,” she raised. You followed her voice into her sewing room, her hands at work with the machine. She glanced up as the two of you entered and she couldn’t help but smile wide.
“Good morning,” she gave, moving her gaze between you and Cas; deftly noticing your interlocked hands. After finishing her last stitch, she stood to hug you both; holding you a bit longer than what would be perceived as a standard hug.
“Are you hungry?” she quizzed, wondering if you had the most important meal of the day.
“We ate at the hotel. I didn’t want you to have to cook for us,” you explain, smiling when you saw her pass you a quick scowl.
“Once upon a time I would have praised you for that. But you’re never here, I miss cooking for you. Cas, you’re both staying for lunch. Don’t let her talk you into eating out,” she ordered playfully but with full seriousness. He smiled down at her and nodded rather shyly. Turning back to you, your mother gave you a playful tap.
“I like him. He seem’s to listen to reason,” she chuckled, sending him a soft smile.
“Oh yeah? That’s what you think? I’ve always thought he was kind of a pushover,” you tease, turning to him and wrapping your arms around him. Looking up at him, you smile; a light giggle escaping your lips. Not going to lie, holding him and being this close to him kept sending tingles within you; head to toe. If it wasn’t for the ‘fake boyfriend’ charade, you definitely wouldn’t be this close to him; let alone be holding him the way you were. If just to place the cherry on top, you raised up on your tiptoes and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. His face reddened and he couldn’t help but look towards the floor.
“I like this,” your mother smiled warmly, looking up at Cas.
“What? Teasing my boyfriend?” you chuckle, sending Cas a silly face that caused him to laugh with you.
“Seeing you happy,” she admitted softly. Your smile fell and so did Castiel’s, all at once. You watched her for a moment, but she didn’t noticed your frown. She had turned away from you before she could see it plastered on your faces.
“You weren’t like this with Erin,” she sighed, taking her current sewing project to put away. Your arms fell from Cas and he couldn’t help but watch you curiously. Just the mere mention of Erin made you seem… broken almost.
“I was happy,” you declared, voice low almost mute.
“Honey, I don’t want to argue with you…,” she pursed her lips with a slight frown; sadness taking over her features. Things with Erin had been complicated. You had thought you loved him but after everything you’ve felt for Cas? The feelings you had for Erin weren’t even close. But you had been happy. Erin made you happy… perhaps not all time… but sometimes… didn’t he? Certainly not the night before graduation, that was for sure. Everything was just so confusing and it frustrated you. If anything, you didn’t love him, you knew that much…but were you really happy with him? When you were together during school? Before your whole break down?...
No. You weren’t happy. How could anyone be happy with someone who constantly brought them down all the time. How could you have been happy living that lie? You weren’t in a fairytale, Erin Andrews was not your knight; not like Jim was with Jenna, not like your father was with your mother, nor like you wanted Cas to be with you. Erin meant ...nothing to you… if anything, you used him as an excuse. You wanted to live that picture perfect life, but the whole time you were with him you were miserable. Why had you been lying to yourself this entire time? Those four years were the worst years of your life, how did you not realize it sooner?
“No… you’re right,” you admit hesitantly, going over everything in your head, “I wasn’t happy… was I?” your eyes finally met her gaze. It felt like an invisible weight had been lifted from your shoulders. Your mother made her way over to you slowly, realizing what you were finally admitting and knowing just how painful it was to feel. Cas stood beside you, reeling in everything you felt. It was a relief to know that you hadn’t given someone like Erin the power to hurt you, but it was devastating to know how much pain you kept causing yourself. Erin having a baby with someone else might have just been the most liberating thing you’ve experienced in your entire life. Because no matter how ideal it sounded, living a life with your ‘high school sweetheart’ wasn’t something you really wanted; it wasn’t in your cards. To be honest, you hated it here; the school, the town…not because of the people, but because… you weren’t happy here… living this cherry pie life… with someone you pretended to love. If you would have stayed… if he hadn’t cheated on you… you would have been consumed in this emptiness your entire life. You would have never met Cas; you would have never known what it was like to truly love someone… you would have never been... happy.
“Are you okay?” your mother pressed, worry coating her tone as she pulled away to give you a once over. Backing away, you couldn’t help but smile; a single tear rolling down your cheek.
“I’ve never felt better,” you whisper, sighing happily before wiping that tear away. Cas pulled your hand into his, the same worry coating his features as your mother's; a more concerned gesture rather than for the ‘fake boyfriend’ act. But you didn’t mind, because the truth was beginning to set you free and in order for it to take full effect, you needed to accept who you were and who you’ve become. You were someone who adored your family; who enjoyed nature and life; you were creative, honestly artistic. You loved to paint and draw; you loved playing board games and video games and carelessly singing the wrong words to every song, making up your own version. You enjoyed exploring new places, being and living in the moment. Erin took all of that away from you, you became bland… and somehow, being here with Cas… pretending but pleading for it all to be real… Cas was giving this all back to you; all you had to do was let him in, even if it was just a little bit at a time.
“I think I’m going to show Cas around,” you explain, squeezing his hand in yours as you took in the room around you; viewing it as if you were seeing it for the first time in over a decade. Both your mother and Cas were still etched with concern, neither of them really understanding the process and moment of clarity that just passed through your mind.
“I would really enjoy having lunch here, Mama,” you tell wholeheartedly. Her concern decimated quickly, joy consuming her. You missed this; the reality of just how much, was setting in. This was your home... and though you’d come back a few times in the past, this was the first time it felt like you were really there; it felt like it had been forever.
“Okay sweetheart,” she managed to whisper. She noticed the sudden change in you and even if it were just for a moment, she saw a glimpse of her old daughter; it made her feel whole again. She slipped past you and Cas, hiding the tears trapped in her eyes. Castiel was bringing you back to her; an angel sent by God himself.
“Your father is working in his study. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you interrupted him for a moment; to let him know you made it in again,” she explained, stopping in her tracks but not turning back. You could hear her hurt within her voice, you recognized it because you felt it too. You had been gone so long, a stoic version of yourself took control for so many years; almost, but not quite, as soulless like Sam had been…
“We’ll check in on him,” you agree, giving her ease. She continued on into the kitchen, more than likely going to decide what she was going to make for lunch. You began to head towards your father, when Cas pulled against your joined hands. Turning to him, he looked confused; tilting his head the way he does.
“Whats wrong?” you ask.
“You sure you’re okay?” he didn’t hesitate with his question. Smiling up at him you nodded.
“I am, I promise. Are you?”
“If you are,” he gave hesitantly.
“I want to show you who I was before Erin. After we see my dad of course,” you explain, preparing yourself; you were going to introduce Cas to a girl you hadn’t seen for a very long time.
“I would like that,” he stated flatly, concern still within him. How could you go back and forth with your emotions so quickly? Not that he minded, as long as you were being honest about being happy; he didn’t like seeing you upset. Tugging on his hand like he had yours, you walked him towards the study. Growing up, your father stayed busy here, leaving occasionally on business trips though he worked from home most of the time. Upon entering, you slid your hand from Cas’ to greet your father. When you hugged him, you held on longer like your mother had done you earlier. It confused him mostly, but he held you until you let go first. He welcomed Cas in, both of them shaking hands with one another. You could tell your father was still having questioning the idea of Cas; not because he didn’t like him, but he still didn’t know him yet. Sure you had mentioned quite a bit, but your father was wanting to see for himself. After a few minutes, the desk phone began to ring; your father claimed he could call back but you didn’t want to interrupt his work. Telling him, you and Cas, would be at the house the whole day and you could visit more later. He answered the call, sending a friendly wave toward you both as you left.
“Whats wrong?” Cas asked as you shut the doors behind you, giving a sigh.
“I think we’ll start in my old room,” you express, giving him an attempted smile. He followed you upstairs, curious as to why you avoided some of his questions at times. You slowed down as you approached the closed bedroom door. Sighing again before you pushed the door open, allowing Cas to enter first. He watched as he passed by you; you weren’t sad, no, this was a different emotion. He went into the room, instantly becoming fixed on everything your walls held. You hung your paintings and drawings up, but you also had band and movie posters along with song quotes and a few poems; some you had wrote and some you just liked. Cas was transfixed on everything, he had yet to notice your hesitation to come into the room. Your eyes were searching too though, some of the things you had created you had completely forgot about. Your eyes were glued on a piece of your artwork when Cas finally turned back to you, noticing you were still in the hall.
“What are you doing?” his hands were at his sides, fingers fiddling with a loose string on the sleeve of his shirt.
“I haven’t been in here since my sophomore year,” you tell, suddenly finding an interest to the floor by your feet.
“Why not?” he proceeded with his adorable little head tilt and furrowed his brows.
“Freshman year Erin asked me out for homecoming and things between me and him grew from there…. But he was really good at football. During sophomore year he somehow managed to be put on Varsity; he couldn’t have an artistic nerd as a girlfriend…, it would have ruined his ‘reputation'. So I changed instead of giving him a reason to dump me… I switched from my art and music classes to athletics. I started dressing fancier and waking up a whole hell of a lot earlier so I could fix my hair and put on makeup. I moved some of my things downstairs into the guest room, like my new clothes, and I just started staying down there. I was going to throw all of this stuff away but Mama said she would clean it up and move her sewing stuff up here. She never did it though. The years went by, she kept her room downstairs and I stopped coming up here altogether. I knew she hadn’t moved her room but I figured she just got rid of all of this stuff and used this space for storage,” you explain softly. Cas listened to every word you said, piecing together a puzzle you didn’t even know he was working on.
“When I came back the first time after leaving with Sam and Dean, she said everything was still here, in the same place I had left it. I’ve never came up here though.”
“Why are you showing me then?” his head straightened but his eyes were still scrunched.
“I’m letting you in, … this is something…,” you explain, glancing around the room as you recollected so many good memories, “… this is who I was Cas… it’s a part of me.” You wanted to go into the room, but it were as if you needed a little push. After a few seconds Cas raised his arm, extending his hand out and holding it open for you to place yours. You didn’t move, his eyes were glued to your’s as if he were waiting. He had no reason to hold your hand, unless it was just for moral support; none of your family members were up here with you so there was no reason for any affection. Something in you took control and your feet carried you to him; your hand slipping into his, your eyes tracing his blue ones. He gave your hand a soft, reassuring squeeze and you couldn’t help but look away. You wanted to kiss him, to hold him and never let go of this moment, but he wasn’t yours. Taking in a huge breath, you turned and sat on your bed; Cas still grasping your hand so you wouldn’t pull or slip it away. He watched you, making sure you were okay. A few moments passed before he decided to sit next to you.
“Thank you Cas,” you whisper, leaning your head onto his shoulder. You honestly weren’t sure what you were thanking him for specifically, Cas was just everything you needed him to be, whether he knew it or not. When you rested your head on him, his whole figure stiffened; not that you were even paying attention. You stayed against him for a little while, both of you taking in the beauty of your earlier creations. Cas was transfixed on a painting that hung above your door, but a poem that laid on your night stand, drew your attention. Slipping your hand from his, he turned his attention back to you; curious as to what you were doing. Leaning over, you grabbed the sheet of paper and brought it closer to you. Upon reading the poem, your face heated as you felt Cas’ leg simply resting next to yours; it wouldn’t have been so bad, if it had been a different poem…
“What does it say?” Cas questioned. Resting your hands and the poem in your lap, you turned towards him; your mind scattered.
“It’s nothing, just a poem that probably fell from the wall. Mom must have sat it here on the table,” you nod your head in the direction of the table but your eyes stayed glued to his.
“Will you read it?” he pressed.
“I’m not good at reciting poetry… it’s been a while,” you tried to persuade him to let it go.
“Please?” When Cas had been an angel, that one single word held little purpose. If Cas was down to business, you didn’t mess around with silly, irrelevant words like please. Now, occasionally you would hear it, but it wasn’t something he said often. When he said it, he was being sincere in his actions. How could you say no? Just read it, it’s only a poem…
“Okay,” you sigh the word. The butterflies inside of you were becoming more active; too late to dismiss the feeling. Holding the paper, you cleared your throat before reading the lines.
“ 'I choose to love you in silence…
For in silence I find no rejection,
I choose to love you in loneliness…
For in loneliness no one owns you but me,
I choose to adore you from a distance…
For distance will shield me from pain,
I choose to kiss you in the wind…
For the wind is gentler than my lips,
I choose to hold you in my dreams…
For in my dreams, you have no end…’
Rumi (1207-1273).”
“That’s rather… gloomy…,” Cas said, leaving you speechless for a moment before you drew yourself together.
“It’s beautiful,” you claim.
“It’s sad.” Cas was quick to counteract.
“Well… like I said yesterday, sometimes... things are better left unsaid."
“If you love someone, why would you not want to tell them?” Castiel was beginning to turn this into a debate. You kept your mouth sealed as you arose from the bed, feeling his glare on you as you walked over to an empty space on your wall. The piece of paper in your hands that held the poem still had tape on the edges. Carefully, you smoothed the sticky strip back to the wall, using your thumb to smooth out all the edges. After the wall held it firmly, you took a step back and glanced at the wall as a whole; you truly were something while growing up… Shrugging the thought off your shoulders, you moved over to your desk and opened the top drawer, skimming through the stack of poems you had written down.
“There’s a poem in here that you may like instead. It’s about bees,” you explain, your attention lost in the endless pile of words you kept looking over. Cas had his head tilted, confusion gripping him tight.
“Why do you ignore my questions?” You paused for a moment; clearly evident and it didn’t go unnoticed.
“I don’t, ... I answer you,” you declare, knowing full well what exactly he was talking about.
“Not all the time,” he stood from your old bed and walked to you, taking in your frazzled state as you seemed to be looking for something rather frantically.
“Earlier you said you loved someone,” he continued, making you shut the desk drawer rather harshly at his statement. You couldn’t find what you were looking for and you had no clue where he was going with this; it scared you.
“Yeah,” you said, nodding your head to agree with your words. If you didn’t oblige, you’d literally be contradicting yourself within a matter of seconds.
“How long?” You turned to him after he asked, eyes meeting his instantly and immediately you felt nauseous. What was he doing? Of course the voices inside you were yelling, persuading you to draw this out and maybe it wouldn’t end up the way you thought it was going to.
“How long for what?” you return, face as stoic as could be. Cas' brows drew together, as if he knew you were avoiding the question.
“How long have you loved them?” His jaw clenched, not out of anger but in a way to show you he wasn’t backing down. You sighed, not knowing what to do. You couldn’t tell him, it would lead him to finding out the truth. Not that the truth was a bad thing because you needed all the weight to be off of your chest, but because you didn’t really want to be in a solitary room, isolated away from other people, when he found out; you couldn’t bare being alone for that… you wouldn’t make it when he were to reject you.
“For a very, very… long time…,” you gave without giving specifics. Your eyes fell down to his hands, they were fiddling with a loose string on his jeans again.
“(Y/n),…” he called to you, almost as if he were pleading for you to look back to him, “… I,” but your mother interrupted, calling for you from down stairs.
“Sweetheart? Can you come here please?” Glancing at Cas, his attention was focused towards the door from where she had called. You walked closer to the door, looking back only to see if he would be following you down, but you couldn’t seem to get his attention.
“Cas… are you coming?”
“I’m going to stay,” he gave, moving his eyes over to read another poem on your wall. You sighed, wanting to know what he was going to say but also what he might be thinking; what was going through that head of his? Your mother called out for you again, checking to see if you had heard her.
“Coming,” you raise, not annoyed but so she was able to hear. Taking one last glance at Cas, you left the door opened behind you and began to shuffle down the stairs towards your mother. The conversation between you and the ex-angel still swimming around your head. What would he have said before your mom unknowingly interrupted? Where would the conversation had lead to? Perhaps your mother saved you from the one thing you weren’t quite ready to hear.

Patrick Mahomes’ knee injury sucks for not only the Chiefs, but all NFL fans
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports
If Mahomes misses extended time, the West could belong to the ... Raiders?
The NFL may be without its reigning Most Valuable Player for a while.
Patrick Mahomes, one of the league’s most electric young stars and a frontrunner to defend last year’s MVP award, left Week 7’s clash with the Denver Broncos with a knee injury. The third-year quarterback had to be helped off the field in the second quarter after a fourth-and-inches sneak gave the Chiefs a fresh set of downs — but cost them the heart of their offense in the process.
Mahomes was quickly ruled out for the game after walking to the locker room. Replays showed his team’s training staff working on his knee before picking him up from the turf.
No good replay because the bodies were just piled on Pat Mahomes. But there was this. Yikes. #Chiefs pic.twitter.com/5l6bHFKkVt
— Michael Giardi (@MikeGiardi) October 18, 2019
Early reports said it was a dislocated kneecap, but that there were no fractures in the afflicted leg. While no timetable has emerged for Mahomes’ recovery, head coach Andy Reid told sideline reporter Erin Andrews he thought his star was “going to be OK,” and that the quarterback told him he was “going to be fine, Coach.” But the situation on the field and Kansas City’s willingness to rule him out for the game shortly after entering the locker room suggest this may be a malady that keeps him off the field for more than three quarters.
Even if he only misses a game or two, his absence will be a significant blow to the Chiefs, who have two big cross-conference matchups looming. Losing Mahomes, no matter for how long, sucks for Kansas City. It also sucks for anyone who likes a unique brand of football that occasionally borders on superhuman.
No quarterback in the league can replace what Mahomes does
Mahomes’ big arm and penchant for highlight-reel plays made him a perfect fit in Reid’s freewheeling offense. Surrounded by lightning-quick wideouts and a do-everything tight end, the 2017 first-round pick was a revelation in his first season as a starter last fall.
Mahomes’ ability to scramble out of trouble and improvise put him on a God Tier among NFL quarterbacks in just one full year behind center. He could extend plays long enough for his receiving help to find gaps, then launch pinpoint rifle shots downfield as though he were standing still. He’d fake out defenses with no-look passes. He could convert third downs with his left, non-dominant hand.
youtube
That led to a 5,097-yard, 50-touchdown campaign in 2018 and a runaway MVP award. And somehow he was more prolific through the first six weeks of 2019. He’d set career highs in passing yards per game (350.7) and yards per pass (9.1) while on pace for a career low in interception rate (just one in 230 attempts, and it was kinda due to some nonsense). On Thursday, he became the first player to pass for 7,500 yards in his first 24 games — besting Kurt Warner’s old record of 27.
But there was one big concern looming in the middle of that big start. An ankle injury suffered in the opening week of the season resurfaced in each of his last three games, robbing him of some of his mobility and leading to his three worst starts of the year as the Chiefs went on a 1-2 skid. He was looking to snap a two-game losing streak — and had completed 10 of his 11 passes — when he was forced out of game in Denver.
That turned the offense over to Matt Moore, who is absolutely not Patrick Mahomes.
What can Matt Moore do in Mahomes’ stead?
Moore has traditionally been one of the league’s better backup quarterbacks. He’s only started more than five games in a season just once in a 12-year career, but he’s got a respectable 15-15 record in those games, split between the Panthers and Dolphins.
However, his last start came in 2017 — a season where he threw more interceptions (five) than touchdowns (four). He’s also 35 years old now, so it’s fair to expect a little bit of dropoff from an aging passer who had thrown only a single pass in his last 22 games. He didn’t even expect to play football this year; he’d spent much of the offseason as a member of Miami’s coaching staff and was only signed by Kansas City in August after Chad Henne suffered a season-ending injury.
But Moore has also never played with a receiving corps as talented as the one he’ll sling passes to in western Missouri. He’ll have the chance to work with a pair of All-Pros in wideout Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce. Rookie Mecole Hardman is averaging more than 18 yards per catch and hauled in a 21-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes before the QB left the game. Sammy Watkins hasn’t been able to match his Week 1 explosion (nine catches, 198 yards, three touchdowns), but should provide additional support once he’s back to full strength after missing the last two games. Byron Pringle and Demarcus Robinson are both depth options who are each capable of putting up 100+ yard games.
Reid and the Chiefs are going to give Moore a chance to shine while Mahomes recovers. The question is whether he can be the guy who outplayed Ryan Tannehill and had a 105.6 passer rating for the 2016 Dolphins, or if he’s the quarterback who’s thrown more interceptions than touchdowns and averaged an Osweiler-ian 6.7 yards per attempt in the two-plus years since.
Who else can the Chiefs sign or promote to either back up Moore or replace him?
The current free agent quarterback market is thin, though the XFL Draft just dug up a bunch of names who’d likely jump at the chance to sling passes to Hill, Kelce, and Hardman. Former starters who aren’t signed heading into Week 7 include:
Cody Kessler
Tom Savage
Kevin Hogan
and Matt Cassel
There is another name who could give a contending Chiefs team a boost behind center. Colin Kaepernick hasn’t played a snap in the NFL since 2016, but has reportedly kept in game shape while waiting for a team willing to even give him a workout. He still wants to play football — but the question is whether Kansas City will be willing to reach out to the famously divisive former NFC champion.
If Mahomes isn’t set to miss much time, the club could look in-house for its backup to Moore. Rookie Kyle Shurmur, an undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt, would be an easy promotion from the practice squad should the club need a stopgap solution and want to plug a developmental prospect into a bigger role.
What does this mean for the rest of the NFL?
Should Mahomes miss extended time, this division is back up for grabs. That’s good news for the Chargers, Raiders, and Broncos. The Chiefs’ AFC West rivals will have the chance to pull the defending division champion back to earth, a process started by the club’s recent two-game losing streak. Oakland, out to a surprising 3-2 start, could affirm Jon Gruden’s expansive rebuild by pushing their way to the top of the division. A Mahomes injury would likely give Los Angeles a much-needed break after the franchise shot itself in the foot repeatedly to start the season 2-4.
Denver probably has too many flaws to overcome this year, but hey, maybe the Broncos will surprise us.
This injury, as bleak as it is for the Chiefs, is also great news for the NFC North. Their next two games are circled dates on the calendars of the Packers and Vikings, respectively. While this means the cruel indifference of the football gods has robbed us of the first (and possibly only) Patrick Mahomes-Aaron Rodgers shootout as well as a showcase against Minnesota’s solid defense, it also means the top of a stacked division may only get stronger.
And then there’s the rest of the AFC, which looked like a two-team race after Week 4 but now appears firmly in New England’s control. Any losses the club takes under Moore’s guidance will dig a deeper hole in the battle for homefield advantage come playoff time. While a Week 14 trip to Foxborough will provide an opportunity to close that gap, the Patriots’ easy schedule and dominant defense may make Thursday’s injury too big an obstacle to overcome in the race for the top spot in the conference.
The Chiefs will have to wait and see what the prognosis is for their MVP. Mahomes is due for an MRI Friday, at which point we’ll better know his recovery timetable. But even if he misses a week and Green Bay’s trip south, this is a massive loss not only for Kansas City but also anyone who loves watching a borderline superhero throw footballs into orbit.
We’ll have more updates as they become available.

With Carson Wentz Rolling, Eagles Are Best Team in NFC Least
Bill Kostroun/Associated Press
Over the past several days, we've learned a couple of things about the NFC East.
The first is that the division isn't especially good. Entering Week 6, there was all of one team in the NFC East playing .500 football—and that was a 2-2 Washington Redskins team that just got pounded into paste on Monday night by the New Orleans Saints.
The second is that those Washington Redskins are not the best team in what might be the NFL's worst division in 2018. That honor belongs to the Philadelphia Eagles, who demolished a hapless New York Giants team 34-13 to move to 3-3 on the year.
And if the Eagles are going to make another deep playoff run and get back to the Super Bowl, it will be because quarterback Carson Wentz carries them there.
Julio Cortez/Associated Press
Wentz, who missed the first two games of this season while recovering from the torn ACL that ended his 2017 season, had a second straight stellar effort. After lighting up the Minnesota Vikings for 311 yards and two touchdowns last week, Wentz went one better—278 yards, three scores and a passer rating of 122.2 on 26-of-36 passing.
The third-year pro was positively lethal on third down. He was 10-of-10 on his first 10 attempts on third down for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
That's called getting it done in crunch time.
In some respects, a quarterback is only as good as the receivers catching his passes, and Wentz had plenty of help. Tight end Zach Ertz was his typically stellar self, hauling in seven passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Nelson Agholor had a season-high 91 receiving yards—including a 32-yard reception that looked like something out of a backyard game.
The big winner on the night was wideout Alshon Jeffery. For the second time in three games, Jeffery was a huge part of the Eagles' passing game, reeling in eight passes for 74 yards and a pair of touchdowns—including a nifty 13-yard strike in the back of the end zone.
Wentz has steadily improved since taking the field for the first time at home against the Indianapolis Colts back in Week 3. Where he looked tentative and more than a little rusty against Indy, Wentz was decisive and sharp against the Giants.
While speaking with Erin Andrews of Fox after the game, Wentz credited a fast start against New York for helping the team find its rhythm.
"I thought it was big for us to come out early and get on the board," Wentz said. "The defense made a heck of a play on that first drive, we had great field position and capitalized early. That's something we preach all the time is starting fast, and we were able to do that tonight."
Long story short, Wentz looked like Wentz on Thursday—like the young quarterback who was an MVP front-runner before tearing his ACL in December. And the Eagles looked less like the herky-jerky offense of a month ago and more like the unit that moved up and down the field with impunity against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
The Eagles gained a relatively modest 379 total yards against the Giants, but the team made the most of them. Philly was an outstanding 9-of-16 on third down, largely because Wentz just didn't miss when it mattered. The Eagles scored more points in the first half against the G-Men than they had in any full game this season.
Wentz told Andrews after the game that the key to the offensive turnaround was simple—better execution.
"There's just [been] lots of little mistakes," he said. "Obviously we played some good teams that did some things. But we had a lot of little mistakes. There's still some things we've got to clean up, but man, it feels good to get back in the win column."
Wentz is right. One win over a bad team doesn't fix all that ails the Eagles. There's a reason they entered the game 2-3, and before anyone starts making travel plans for Atlanta, there are problems that need to be addressed.
A ground game that lost Jay Ajayi for the season in last week's home loss to the Vikings struggled a bit against the Giants, gaining just 108 yards and averaging only 3.5 yards a carry. The pass defense (or more specifically, the part of the pass defense named Jalen Mills) continues to be inconsistent. And an offensive line that keeps letting Wentz take more than a few shots lost starting tackle Jason Peters to a biceps injury.
Given how quickly Peters was ruled out for the remainder of the game, there's reason to think that could be a multiweek injury, although he told Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Inquirer that his biceps is "OK."
To say this team is ready to take on the Los Angeles Rams or New Orleans Saints right now is stretching it.
Corey Perrine/Getty Images
Saying that the Eagles are the best team in their division, however, is not. The Giants are a dumpster fire that's occasionally interrupted by a Saquon Barkley highlight. The Dallas Cowboys wouldn’t have the best wide receivers in the Big Ten. And the Redskins can't seem to decide whether they want to be good or bad, instead settling on mediocre.
The 2018 Eagles might not be as good as the 2017 iteration (at least right now), but Thursday night they looked better than they have all season. They looked like the team to beat in the NFC East.
And they looked that way for one primary reason.
Their franchise signal-caller appears to have gotten his groove back.

LAMDA 2nd First Round Audition
My last audition! (?) What a lovely spring day travelling down with Erin, and once again being there to support each other. I must admit in the hours leading up to our audition, it felt as though we should have been gearing up for a cocktail by the river, not a brutal pounding from some enthusiastic LAMDA directors. Anyhow, we soon screwed our heads back on ready for 4:15. It was lovely to experience auditioning in the new building, which is almost completely finished, and my friend Amy from second year on the 2 yr course, found me before I went in to wish me luck. I sat outside two large, beautiful open rooms with a panel in each. I had Hannah Eidinow who is an acting teacher and director at LAMDA on my panel, and a man, who's name I can't remember (Andrew??) but I think he was an outside director. Stuart from first year showed me in and introduced me to them. Hannah asked me, "What have you been asked to prepare for today?" - 3 speeches, so I reeled them off (Juliet, Angry Brigade, Imogen). "So would you like to show us Juliet and the Angry Brigade first, take your time and then we'll have a little chat about what we want to do with you- be it redirection or we may want to see your 3rd speech." I moved back in to the space, planted my feet and took a few breaths. I was talking to Erin about this afterwards; we've known our speeches now for approximately 7 months and between my Guildhall recall and LAMDA, I didn't want to over-rehearse my monologues in fear of them falling flat or losing inspiration. So sometimes it feels nicer to go in to the space with a fresher mind, new ideas and see where the words come from that day. Yesterday, Juliet happened to be less outwardly enthusiastic and more like she was sharing a secret, which was interesting to play with. I tried to be more specific with my eye contact, as I worry it can be too general not being direct address. The Angry Brigade was more difficult to play than at my Guildhall, as it's useful to have a human being there to talk to as opposed to a wall. I always get something from that. After finishing both my speeches, they whispered among theirselves as I took a drink. "Ok we're going to work on your Juliet." She asked me several questions including: "What's just happened? Who would she be telling this to if she was talking to someone?" I answered and also spoke a little bit about the array of emotions that would come up for her before having sex for the first time. So they got me sprinting round the room, bouncing off the walls and when Hannah clapped I had to go in to it. I love this redirection. If I was to run around outside and come in to the room with that kind of energy before my speech, 1) I think they would be a wee bit overwhelmed and 2) they'd probably think it was a bit too much, so when I've been asked to do it as an experiment, I have the chance to really show them how far I can go in a safe environment. Mid-way through my first attempt, I must have been 'too sweet' as she made me run again with the idea that 'she is not a good girl'. I discovered some lovely new moments this time through. When I finished, they asked me how it was/how it felt. Goodness knows exactly what I said but it was along the lines of breath/energy helping with urgency, raunchiness, passion and that it felt amazing. I left the room with a lot of adrenaline, and with all the excitement, forgot my cute socks that I'd left outside the room whilst retrieving my belongings! (They were saved soon after!) I gave it my everything. They said we'll get an email in 2-3 weeks. It's easier said than done, but I'm going to try and forget about it. I did my best, that's all I can do! Peace and love X

Dave gets canceled
I don't want to say that this feels sweet, but it does feel particularly vindicating that Dave is now being called a racist after doing nothing when Ellie Schnitt called me a racist.
Adding to this state of affairs is the fact that I am not a racist, while the things that Dave said were seriously fucked up, certainly worse than calling a sideline reporter a bitch (in jest).
Erin Andrews is not a bitch. I called her that as a joke to satirize men who would say she is a bitch. That my critics could not understand the humor is their own problem.
Dave and Kevin Clancy, already reeling from the scandal where he cheated on his pregnant wife, will be on the hot seat going forwards if they can't represent the company properly.
I would expect Dave to dial things down for awhile. We'll try to get him on the show the week we come back.

For theatre goers “of a certain age”, the mention of Sunset Boulevard may very well conjure up images of beloved comedienne Carol Burnett’s loving homage to this classic 1950 Billy Wilder film. Burnett’s entrance as the faded Hollywood film star Norma Desmond slowly –at first—descending the staircase of her mansion to the applause and adulation of her faithful butler (played to perfection, of course, by the stalwart Burnett sidekick Harvey Korman) remains one of her many “Most Memorable” moments.
With this production of Sunset Boulevard, veteran Mac-Haydn Producing Artistic Director John Saunders has created his own Most Memorable offering; indeed this show may very well turn out to be the crown jewel of the season. With a glorious score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, performances soar as high as the HOLLYWOOD sign that looms over the set.
Intertwining the stories and lives of long-forgotten silent film star Norma Desmond and the desperate and virtually poverty-stricken screenwriter Joe Gillis, the plot develops, unfolds and ultimately unravels to a tragic conclusion . Underscoring the seduction of the young screenwriter by of the fading film star is the “B reel” plot of Joe’s attraction to, and eventually reciprocated, love for Betty Schaefer, and of course we cannot overlook the faithful to a fault Max , butler-cum ex-husband to the vulnerable, delusional, Norma Desmond as he protects with unwavering loyalty “The Greatest Star” who lives in a world where only she hears the echos and whispers of the applause that surrounded her in her heyday.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
As the aging, faded from glory and memory silent film start Norma Desmond, living in a mansion as dilapidated and tattered as the shreds of the wardrobe she clutches around her, Elizabeth Ward Land’s performance is a true tour de force. From her entrance as she intriguingly inquires “Are there any laws against burying him in the garden?”, she captures and mesmerizes the audience, who are not released from her spell until the final flicker of spotlight leaves her face at her last “close-up.” Her hand gestures through the performances are absolutely mesmerizing—the flick of a wrist, crook of a finger, wave of a hand– each and every movement adds a depth to the character she has become.
Her voice is as perfect as her presence, capturing the pathos and the delusion of the world in which she lives. Her vocal presentation more than holds its own against the Norma Desmond’s who have gone before her …Patty LuPone, Betty Buckley, Glenn Close —yes, Glenn Close ! In what is probably the “signature” musical number of the show, her performance of “As if we never said Goodbye” is a show stopper in the truest sense of the word. As Norma arrives at Paramount Studio, which long ago and far away was her home and her life, she is both labored and sustained by the illusion that her triumphant return to film is upon her. She gives voice to the memories of her glory days and the soon to be unrealized dreams of a triumphal return in an opening night performance not soon to be forgotten. The single split second of total silence at its conclusion, before the audience, rightfully, gave her the applause due such a bravura performance, and testified to the magic of the moment. For 2 1⁄2 hours, Land IS Norma Desmond, and the audience in Chatham ARE the adoring fans she remembers from her glory years.
As the ultimately doomed screenwriter Joe Gillis, Pat Moran holds his own against Land’s Norma. His spiraling ascent and descent from a slightly jaded, debt-ridden screenwriter on the run from debt collectors to “a kept man” who ultimately shatters the mind and the life of his keeper is well-played and believable; he has both the voice and the presence to play against Land’s larger than life Norma. Their scenes together are fraught with increasing ardor—on Norma’s part-, and a gradual abandonment of principle and to some extent self-respect, as Joe yields to the pathetic passionate yearnings of the aging star, clinging desperately to the remembered vestiges of the youth she long ago left behind. In a rather awkward ending to Act 1, Joe yields himself to Norma following yet another suicide attempt thwarted and tended to by the faithful Max. As the music swells, and the lights begin to dim, the “couple” come together in an embrace that leaves little to the imagination as to its inevitable climax. Cue the less than subtle hints of writhing undulations…and was that “Mrs. Robinson, You’re trying to seduce me” we heard as the lights faded to black? A little more subtlety, a little less graphic detail would have made the point of the moment sufficiently.
In the almost obligatory sub-plot romance, the relationship between Joe and would-be screenwriter Betty Schaefer develops almost as slowly as the movie script they attempt to write together. Fortunately for the audience, the chemistry between Moran and Rachel Pantazis provides a much-need touch of reality and innocence amid the decay and delusion swirling through Sunset Boulevard and beyond. Their duet “Too Much in Love” showcases Pantazis’ lovely voice already on display in “Boy Meets Girl”. Hopefully Pantazis will offer her talents in other roles during the season.
James Zennelli as the faithful- to- a- fault Max guards the faded star and her memories with the intensity of a pit bull; you can almost hear the merest hint of a growl should anyone dare to threaten the fragile mindset of his beloved “Madam”, as she lives in her world of fan mail (that comes no more) and fawning, adoring fans (who never call). With relatively few musical moments, Zennelli nonetheless creates a full-bodied character whose presence is as essential to the production as it is to Norma Desmond.
As frequently is the norm at the Mac, production values hold their own against the performances. Original productions of Sunset Boulevard were encumbered and in some cases hampered by the huge and expensive set pieces, including a grand staircase which is essential to the plot and the “look” of the piece. Saunders has worked with Scenic Designer Erin Kiernan to use the theatre’s in-the round space to best advantage. The staircase integral to plot and action dominates in its permanent placement off to one “side” of this theatre in the round, and occasionally “doubles” as Betty’s office on the movie lot .
For the most part scene changes are made effortlessly if occasionally a bit slowly . Such is almost a necessary evil in the available space. Clad in black, stage crew shift the center stage from the house on Sunset Boulevard to Paramount Studios to with relative ease.
Jimm Halliday’s costuming is especially noteworthy, with his almost exclusive use of black and white attire for Norma Desmond, subtly reflecting her past and passed life in the silent film era. Costumes for the ensemble cast, representing the would be stars and starlets, casting directors, and players in the Hollywood business world perfectly capture the 1950s “movie biz” atmosphere. Special kudos go to the staging, choreography, direction, and costuming efforts that went into the “transformation” of Joe when “The Lady is Paying” for a new wardrobe for her soon-to-be lover. A full and complete change of clothes, top to bottom, inside and out, was performed with an ease and grace that would make many a backstage dresser envious.
Lighting designer Andrew Gmoser generally “shines” with his use of lighting to capture both the teeming, cut-throat world of Tinsel Town in 1950 , and the decaying, faded glory of Norma Desmond’s mansion. The classic “HOLLYWOOD” sign towers over Sunset Boulevard and the theatre in the round stage, reminding all comers they are living in a world where the camera rules, records, and cannot repair or , a world of illusion and of dreams both realized and shattered.
There are, however, several literally glaring miscues which not only detract from the impact of the scenes underway, but have the potential to negatively effect audience members with a particular sensitivity to their use. Strobe light effects throughout the performance, particularly in Act 2, are strident and overly extended, causing more than one audience member to remark on the almost painful impact. The use of the strobe is so prevalent and so frequent that perhaps it would be valuable, in a program note, or even included with the pre-show announcement, to let the audience know of its heavy and frequent presence. In another unfortunate moment, lighting in the final climactic murder scene is entirely too harsh; a spotlight aimed directly into the audience effectively blinded those unfortunate enough to be seated in Section 2. If I had not already been familiar with the action taking place in this moment, I would be left wondering “what happened?”
Also somewhat perplexing is the over-zealous use of atmospheric haze effect, which permeates the theatre from pre-show through curtain call. While a fan of the effect, in moderation, it seems in many moments of this production to be more gratuitous than
Under the guidance of Music Director David Maglione, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s soaring score is given the tender loving care this production needs and deserves. With violin, reeds, percussion and horns, the orchestra does justice to Webber’s work; it is always astounding how big a sound comes from the tiny corner of the theatre where the musicians ply their trade and their instruments.
Despite its few flaws, Sunset Boulevard at Mac-Haydn is a must-see show. Big, bold, and over the top in performance and production, this IS classic musical theatre done almost to perfection. The standing ovation given Leading Lady Land on opening night was more than justified; hers was a triumphant performance. The cast was collectively and individually a match for her talents, performing flawlessly with energy and empathy from start to finish. As a side note, the English major/Grammar Nazi was thrilled to hear cries of “Brava”, rather than the typical “Bravo,” as Land took the accolades and applause so rightfully earned .
A trip to Sunset Boulevard, via Route Route 203 in Chatham, is highly recommended. Almost assuredly, this production will be remembered and talked about for quite some time.

Promo images for Marvel's The Gifted season premiere â 'eXposed' | Pretty Little Liars
Cheryl Blossom may be the ideal fit going forward. The Liars would, on occasion, go from Rosewood to the spooky town of Ravenswood. Yes, it's Dancing with the Stars time, and this season we have Pretty Little Liars, two Lacheys and Agent Cody Banks. Writing on her website Bottles & Heels on Tuesday, the Pretty Little Liars actress wrote: 'A burnout, I thought. After seven years of dramatic twists and turns, Pretty Little Liars wrapped for good. The Brisbane actor, who rose to fame in The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars, was just 20 when she moved to Los Angeles with friend Phoebe Tonkin following their stint on Gold Coast fantasy series H20: Just Add Water. She's the Australian actress who made a name for herself on hit TV programs The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars. Considering its large and super passionate fanbase, the idea of a reboot has naturally been something viewers have been hoping for since the show ended.

This Is Not Your Fault | Story Excerpt (mature)
This is based on a dream I had last night. Well, it occurred more like this morning since this was the disturbing dream that woke me up at 6 AM and left me unable to go back to sleep. Oh, no, not because it was twisted, but because it was the answer to a story I’ve had in my head for a few days now, and I made myself get up and write this.
And yes, before you ask, I am a little fucked up. Mentally, that is.
Enjoy. If you dare...
- { 2,597 Words // Mature Scenes Ahead // Trigger Warning } -
(There’s more to the story here, but all you need to know is that Adam and Erin both live in abusive homes, and they’re running away from home this night in Adam’s mom’s stolen Buick. A pickup truck starts to follow them and then begins trying to ram them off the road for seemingly no reason. All characters present are 16-17 years old.)
When their pickup rammed the back of the Buick again, Adam lost control, unable to keep the bulky car on the road. The wheel spun hard to the right, tearing free from his hands. He panicked and clutched at the wheel with frantic hands while Erin bounced around in the seat beside him. Her hands gripped the dashboard in front of her with white knuckles, and a look of absolute fear trapped in her eyes. Grabbing the wheel, he jerked it back to the left, hoping to straighten out the vehicle, but he over-corrected, sending the Buick into the ditch on the side of the road.
The car slammed into the dirt, sending fragments of earth scattering onto the hood as it sank into its final resting place. Panic ignited his senses, and he searched glanced through the back window to see the pickup truck screech to halt behind the car. He shook Erin, who reeled back from the dash with a line of blood running down her temple.
“Shit,” he groaned. “You’re bleeding.”
She rubbed at her forehead, smearing the blood across her fingertips. “I--I’m fine. I just hit my head on the dash.” She saw the fear in his eyes and glanced back to see their followers climbing out of the truck. “We have to get out of here.”
“The car’s trashed. We’re on foot.” Adam shoved open the driver’s side door, and it creaked with weariness as he climbed out. Reaching back, he helped her crawl over the center console and land on solid footing outside the car. He grabbed her hand and led her at a full run away from the vehicles while their followers began to pursue them.
They ran toward a massive warehouse in the distance, the only place in sight. Adam knew it well. This was the town’s storage for the maintenance and restoration of the school buses. Any school buses that needed a fresh coat of paint or some engine work were brought here to be fixed. The place was large--large enough to hide in.
Adam led her toward the warehouse, and they stormed through the side entrance and into the darkness waiting inside. He pushed the door shut and flipped the lock, ensuring they couldn’t be followed inside. As he turned away from the door, he felt her hands grip his arm tight.
“What’s happening, Adam? Why are they doing this?”
“Maybe somebody has a real problem with us leaving this town.”
“They’re just punks, assholes from school. They couldn’t know what we were doing tonight.”
“O.K.,” he laughed, always a fan of her honesty. “Then they’re just assholes. Either way, we gotta wait ‘em out in here.”
“Wait who out?” a voice boomed above them as the lights snapped on.
Squinting against the burn of sudden light, Adam surveyed the area for the source of the voice. The warehouse was emptier than he had expected it to be. There was an office to their left, just beside the door where they’d entered and a commercial paint booth sat in the far right corner. But the rest of the warehouse was open space aside from two buses spaced half a mile apart. Plastic lined every inch of the concrete floor to protect from paint and oil splatters, and standing on top of the bus nearest to them was Anthony Milbrew, the pride and joy of the football team. His twin brother, Andrew, stood on the far side of the warehouse next to the fuse box that controlled the lights.
“You two didn’t think you were gonna slip away that easily, did ya?”
“What do you want?” Adam asked with a snarl in his voice, disgusted that they were trapped by the Twins. They were known for being cruel and strange, but the fact that their parents were the wealthiest in town didn’t help to simmer their egos and self-righteousness. He shuffled Erin behind him to keep her from harm, dreading what they planned to do. “We didn’t do nothin’ to you.”
“You hear that, Drew? Should we let ‘em go?”
“Nawh,” Andrew retorted as he started stalking toward them. “We caught wind of what you guys have been doing up in that old tower.”
“And we want a taste.”Anthony finished his brother’s statement as he crouched on the edge of the bus and slid down onto the ground below.
Together, the Twins strolled toward them and began encircling them like prey stuck in a snake’s grip. Anthony stepped away for a second to unlock the side door, allowing four backups--two boys and two girls--to enter the warehouse. Under the orders of the Twins, the two boys grabbed Adam and shoved him to the ground. When he tried to resist, the boys punched him in the stomach, ensuring he would stay on his knees while the Twins gripped Erin’s arms and guided her to the center of the warehouse.
The Twins held her down on her knees in the pose of an execution while the two girls stood on either side of her and held her arms outstretched, trapping her under the twins’ grip. Tears poured from her eyes as she shook her head, rustling her short, blonde waves now smeared with dirt. She sobbed silently, her chest jumping in quick movements as her lungs struggled to breath through the choking constrictions.
The boys dragged Adam to the center as well while he mumbled pleas they refused to hear. The other boys held him pinned in the same position as Erin, forcing him to his knees to watch his love cry alone and just too many feet out of reach. The hands of the boys were hot against his arms as they tightened like the coils of a snake around his skin.
“Please,” Adam begged in a cracking voice, broken with tears. “Leave us alone.”
The Twins glanced up at him and laughed in unison, a chilling hiss that made his eyes widen and his heart still. One of the Twins dropped his hands off of her body to retrieve a box cutter from his back pocket. Plastic clicked against metal in a rattling noise as he extended the blade from its shell a solid three inches. The Twin paced around Erin’s trapped form and danced with joy in his heart like a court jester. And then he began to drag the knife’s blade across her tender flesh, leaving shallow red tears in his wake.
Erin’s screams of pain filled the warehouse as he cut her again and again. Adam wrestled against his captors, but they only held tighter, squeezed tighter like the vipers they were. His shouts of agony joined hers in a symphony of pain as he watched, helpless.
Twenty-eight cuts later, the Twin retracted the knife which now dripped with a heavy stream of blood, marking a trail across the floor as he continued his taunting dance. Only then did he turn the knife toward her clothes. Laughing, he gripped the collar of her shirt and yanked it down, allowing clearance for the blade. He stabbed the blade through the fabric and began sawing through the shirt with short, rushed, and jagged movements until the clothing fell open. The girls pinning her arms took turns peeling the torn shirt from her back until it was free from her body, and they tossed it aside, leaving Erin exposed in her bra.
“Stop,” Adam screamed again, never taking his eyes off of Erin’s downturned face. “Let us go.”
“Not now,” the Twin still holding her pinned replied. “You don’t want to miss the main event.”
The second Twin continued slicing away her clothes until she remained only in her bra and panties with her shoes still on. She began to squirm a bit more beneath their touch now, sensing the doom lingering in her future, and Adam began shouting incoherent words, desperate to distract them because he sensed the same end awaiting her.
“D-d-don’t do this, please,” he begged through new tears. “Don’t hurt her. Hurt me instead. Leaving was my idea. Please. Don’t. Let her go.”
“Where would be the fun in that?” the Twins mocked with more laughter as the girls holding her arms smiled wide and evil.
The Twin with the knife severed the latch on the back of her bra then held each strap in his grimy, sweaty palms as he cut them loose from her body. The bra crumpled to the ground below without resistance, and the Twin turned his attention to her panties. He gathered the majority of the fabric into his fist, just below her hips, and dragged the knife through it, opening her up to attack. He then cut the seam from her waist, releasing the panties from her body completely so that they could join the bra on the plastic-covered concrete floor below.
She screamed as his hands settled on her hips, and Adam dropped his head, looking away. He couldn’t stomach watching this, and he felt bile rising in his throat, wishing he could silence his ears as easily. But the boys holding him grabbed his chin, forcing him to stare straight ahead. With defiance, he held his eyes shut tight until he felt hot air brush across his face.
“You’re going to watch this,” the Twin said. “Or I’ll slice off your eyelids and make you.”
Trembling, Adam opened his eyes slowly to see the Twin smile proudly. With a laugh, the Twin retracted the knife and returned to her. He settled onto his knees behind her, unzipped his jeans, grabbed her hips, and forced himself inside her as she screamed.
The other’s held Adam’s face frozen in place, stripping him of his ability to look away. With open, wet eyes, he watched the rape, growing deaf to all the sounds in the world other than the dry clapping of his body slamming against hers and the heaving grunts leaking from his upturned lips. And when the first Twin finished, Adam felt some relief, praying it was over, but the Twins simply switched places, and the torment continued.
She was broken. The girls still held her tired arms outstretched, but the first Twin had no reason to hold her down. She wasn’t resisting anymore; she wasn’t crying or screaming anymore. She had grown silent and numb to their assault, and so the Twin turned his attention to Adam. He lifted the knife from his back pocket and passed it off to one of the boys holding Adam in place.
“Cut off his clothes,” the Twin ordered. “Let’s see if he’s enjoying himself.”
The boy to his right released him, but before Adam could slip free, the Twin moved into his place, holding him even tighter than the first boy. He felt the knife eat away at his clothes as it was dragged across his body. His shirt fell open and then his jeans were cut from the zipper, through his thighs, and up the back so the legs could be torn off one at a time. Then the boy sawed at his underwear, peeling its white fabric away from his nudity in the same as his jeans.
Handing the knife back to the Twin, the boy resumed his original task of holding Adam still. The Twin didn’t retreat, though. Instead, he lingered before Adam with that same sinister grin. He watched the Twin bobble back and forth in front him like a cartoon, too eager to control himself and so eager he might explode. Haunted by the continuing thumps and grunts echoing from behind the Twin, Adam begged in silence for any release, any freedom from this madness. And in response, the Twin began slashing at his skin with the blade, leaving shallow red marks just as he had done to his love.
Stepping away from him, the Twin wiped the blood from the box cutter against his jeans and shoved the knife into his pocket as his brother finished. The Twins stood side-by-side and motioned for everyone to leave. The girls holding Erin stepped away first, and her weakened and sore body slumped over to the side, trapped in a permanent stillness that shattered his heart. Then the boys holding him moved away, but Adam didn’t fight them. His only concern was for her, and destroying them wasn’t a task he could accomplish right now. He had to be there for her first.
Laughing a harmonic rhythm, the group of six retreated, leaving them to their sadness, to their death. Adam sat on his knees for a long time, trying to catch his breath and numb his stinging muscles at the same time. Once his racing and fractured heart eased its battle inside, he crawled on his hands and knees toward her body. He stared at the cuts that leaked thin lines of blood all over her body, and he saw the blood and early-forming bruises spreading across her inner thighs. He wanted to feel hate, but he pushed that raw emotion away to let his love for her consume him. She mattered now. She was the only one who mattered now.
“C--cover--” she stuttered, struggling to speak through her dry throat and her cracking lips. “Cover me up.”
He slid onto his side against her bare body and pulled her underneath him. He wound his arms around her back and dragged her into him, cradling her as close as possible within his warmth. He whispered meaningless apologies, promising false hope, and she lifted a shaky hand toward his mouth to press her fingers against his lips, silencing him.
“T--they--” she wept freely, unable to stop the flow of tears running down her cheeks. “They c--cut too deep.”
His eyes narrowed as he stared at her, not understanding until he felt a sudden wave of warmth settle against his hip. Lifting his body away from hers, he stared down between their bare forms to where her other arm was pinned, lying lax against the plastic. And he stared at her slit open wrist in horror as the flood of blood poured from her severed vein at an alarming rate.
“No no no,” he mumbled as he grabbed her wrist and clamped his fist against it, wishing with all his might he could halt the red river from its rushing path. “Please, no. Don’t leave me. D--don’t make me stay here without you. Please.”
A soft smile tugged at her lips as her body grew weaker. Her hand fell away from his face, and her muscles began to grow still, too weak to continue living. But before she left, she met his eyes, steadied her senses, and whispered: “This is not your fault.”
He shook his head wildly in disbelief, but before he could react, before he could say all the things he needed to say, her body slumped backwards, slipping from his arms and falling still against the plastic. He was silent, unable to move as he stared at her body--her corpse. All he could do was cry. He bowed his head, resting it against her shoulder, and he wept, open and free, until all of his energy drained from his body. He collapsed into unconsciousness, letting the darkness surround him with the only mercy he would be granted tonight.

Phil Mickelson, caddie Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay ‘mutually’ part ways
A true stunner — Phil Mickelson will no longer have his man Bones on the bag after 25 legendary years together.
Phil Mickelson and caddie Jim “Bones” Mackay have decided to part ways — one of the more unexpected and stunning splits in recent golf history. Superstar golfers tend to go through multiple caddies over the course of a career, and non-superstar golfers can go through multiple caddies in the course of a season. But a Phil and Bones divorce never seemed remotely possible.
Bones had been on Phil’s bag since early 1993, looping for the Hall-of-Famer essentially from the start of his professional career. He’s been there for all five majors and all but one of Phil’s 42 PGA Tour wins. The two were thought to have an unbreakable working relationship. They seemed destined to ride it out together until the end.
Just last week, Bones flew to Wisconsin to scout Erin Hills over the course of a few days even with the chance of Phil unlikely to play the U.S. Open. He walked the course taking notes and hung around until it became 100 percent certain that Mickelson would have to withdraw. There was little sign of discord or a possible separation.
But Bones issued a statement late Tuesday afternoon announcing the separation.
Statement from Bones and Phil. They are parting ways after 25 years. http://pic.twitter.com/FVI3vSvIA9

Beyond the success, the relationship became one of the most entertaining in golf. The regular Phil-Bones strategy sessions and debates picked up by a broadcast microphone were some of the most enjoyable reasons to watch golf.
While many player-caddies relationships can get testy on the course, Phil and Bones never got edgy with one another. Bones infamously held “veto power” — the ability to go beyond arguing and debating and put his foot down once per year to simply prevent Phil from attempting a crazy shot.
Bones’ wife was introduced to him by the Mickelsons. The two had offseason surgeries on the same day, working to get back onto the course on the same timeframe. Phil repeatedly professed his love for Bones’ work and the relationship they had. And Bones obviously reciprocated the love, recently and most notably when he broke down walking off the 18th green at the 2013 Open Championship. It was Phil who had to grab Bones, who was overcome after watching his guy play the round of his career to win it at Muirfield.
That Muirfield win remains Phil’s last, an almost four-year drought that is the longest of his career. Mickelson has been close repeatedly during that stretch, including in a record-setting second-place finish at that absurd duel in last year’s Open. But he’s been unable to close — a hard-to-believe nugget that is often tossed out is that Tiger Woods has won on the PGA Tour more recently than Mickelson.
Even with the winless streak, the relationship seemed as strong as ever. Phil has gone through swing coaches, changing from Butch Harmon to Andrew Getson in late 2015. But Bones on the bag seemed like it would be the one constant until the end of Phil’s career. It seemed like one of the few constants and certainties in the game. We’re reeling!

The crew caught a bigger pickerel, 25-inches long, that could have swallowed the first one whole. Zen shuffled over to every tip line when a flag went up, helping Kaneski rebait the hooks with squirming medium shiners. He caught more fish and lost a big one. His feet cold and wet, he asked lots of questions and watched me ask them, too. You like deer jerky? one fisherman asked him. Zen shrugged. Turns out, Zen loves deer jerky. He went back for seconds. STEVEN FALK / Staff Photographer My 10-year-old son, Zenon Nark, pulls out a pickerel.
