I want to start off by saying that the title of this episode (”Family Shatters”) has no business being that funny. I thought of a sad pun of “they should have entitled this episode Clay to Stone” but the actual title is so much funnier and so much sadder, give someone a raise. But we do get to officially meet the Clay family! It went off with only a few hitches. Further thoughts, notes, and liveblogs about Campaign 2, Episode 96 of Critical Role are below and below the cut!

- The continued adventures of Taliesin trying to shield Laura and himself from Sam’s advertisement bits dfghjkl once again, a noble but futile effort

- I should not be surprised that this thing has legendary resistances and actions but here I am, surprised 😭

- 68 POINTS OF DAMAGE?!!?! WHAT IS THIS DISINTEGRATE SPELL AND HOW HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE NOW

- Also everyone’s reactions to it are so funny, ya BIG mood guys! (Side note: new meme format?):

- Wait is Beau turning into stone?? Uhhhh Mr Stark!!!

- The fact that Matt had statue crumbles prepared is so mean lol  😭

- Every time Nott uses an explosive arrow I get flashbacks to that time she literally killed Caduceus and my alarm senses go off

- “I’m Eremis Stone, yes.” Me, knowing full well that Stone was just a random name given to Fjord at the orphanage: Oh it’s Fjord’s family! :(

- I’M SO FOND OF THE CLAY FAMILY, I HOPE WE GET TO SEE THEM AGAIN. This entire Campaign I’ve been dubious of them because I thought they abandoned Caduceus and were neglectful and not good people but they are so good and I am so fond  😭

- Side note: Everyone thinking of the Clay family as a “big family” even though he only has three siblings was making me a bit confused until I remembered that most of the Mighty Nein don’t even have a family at all so of course they would see his family as a big one 😭 

- Also, Caduceus kept talking about how he’s going to go home soon, and Nott keeps talking about how she’s going to return to her family, and it really makes me think that the Mighty Nein is going to disperse soon/that there might be a time skip sometime so that they can go their seperate ways or something, even though it makes me sad to think of... I guess I can see even more clearly where Beau was coming from before, with volunteering to leave maybe before she can be hurt again

Voices of the Vanguard: Bungie Destiny 2 Beyond Light Reveal

What is coming in Destiny 2: Beyond Light?

We learned a lot about what is coming this fall in Destiny 2: Beyond Light. The first big reveal is that the Exo Stranger [aka Elsie Bray] is coming back into the world of Destiny. It’s been years since we’ve seen or heard any trace of her and the kicker is that we learned she is not forged in light and instead of a ghost the Exo Stranger’s familiar is a flying jellyfish type creature.

The story will be taking place on Europa where we find another pyramid ship. From what we can tell the Fallen have taken over and a new Fallen leader has risen up named Eremis who claims they are the Kell of Darkness.

Another big reveal was a new subclass called stasis that looks like it involves ice powers with all the ice shards that are in the trailer. We also learned that stasis is not a subclass forged from the power of the light. Instead, we will be wielding darkness as a power for the first time.

The endgame for this new expansion is a raid on the Deep Stone Crypt that was previously speculated to be on Enceladus.

What is coming in Year 4?

Bungie has two major focuses for year 4. Bungie will be attempting to build out Destiny’s core activities and aspirational content, in addition to, keeping the size of game just over 100GB. Their plan for this is to remove content that is no longer being played and placing it in what they call “The Destiny Content Vault” and replacing it with older content that hasn’t been seen in a long time. This year we know for certain that Bungie is planning on releasing Vault of Glass, the first-ever Destiny raid. There is no mention of what the loot will be but editorializing I’m hoping they are just bringing back old raid gear including the exotics.

What else was announced?

Bungie came out ahead and in addition to Beyond Light, Bungie announced two other expansions following Beyond Light. The first one is Witch Queen releasing in 2021 which heavily implies that we will be facing the long-awaited Savathun. The year after the title of the expansion is Lightfall which could imply any number of things.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is scheduled to release on September 22nd 2020.
