the Light of Miquella incantation Eng description is so confusing to me, so i decided to look at the JP text, still confused (i asked both my native speaker friend and American friend working as a translator in JP, and even they are confused and i couldn't just give them a wall of text on Elden Ring lore so they could translate 1 paragraph), so i turn to the CN translation which follows the JP one... and it's so clear??????????? im shocked

(please note im not native CN speaker either, but my mother tongue is built based on their language and i double check with my friend who is fluent)

it presents a paradox of him wanting to become a God to save people & bring compassion, but to be a God he HAS to eliminate all other candidates for Godhood. he has to be the only one.

it sheds light on why Marika's age also started with conflicts. it's something demanded of the new God. and also us when we fight to become Elden Lord (+ line up with why Ansbach is not mad at us for killing Mogh, as he too understands that rule).

I’m having a throat infection on hardcore mode, and it got me thinking about Ice. Like, I’ve been in the worst pain of my life for two days now (and i wish i was exaggerating), and that was probably that man’s everyday reality.

I may have cried during a losing fight with a mashed banana, and I imagined Ice feeling something similar. And how absolutely terrifying that must have been for the people around him.

Like, Maverick could be standing there, begging:

“Please, Tommy, just eat the soup.”

And Ice, weak after not eating for days, just shakes his head, whispers, “No. Hurts.”

And Mav? He’s so scared because this man—who’s been through literal combat situations—is losing a fight with a bowl of soup.

You just know Maverick would be googling “soft food for throat cancer,” turning into some kind of blender bender, trying everything to help. Smoothies, pudding, soup, whatever. But none of it’s enough because Ice could outstubborn an ox, and that love-of-his-life stubbornness is exactly what’s working against him now.

Anyway, if you want to write a fic about this, please do. I will continue to scare my roommates with my tears while eating a cup of kisiel.

i feel like im missing sth because everyone keeps saying the DLC confirms the Greater Will doesn't interfere with things in the Lands Between, but all i see is description saying it just doesn't communicate with Metyr anymore.

items in Eternal City still namedrops Greater Will as the force directly dealing punishment to them (Nox armor description + Fingerslayer Blade), not Metyr. it's like a situation where GW is only home when it sees a camp moving funny, then fuck off again after dealing with said problem without saying hello to its kid.

if anything i just think the DLC clears up why ppl in the Eternal City has Fingerslayer blade in the first place, to be able to go after GW and its vassals as an act of revenge / rebellion, since we know now the Fingers are GW's grandchildren (and Marika, as a God sanctioned by the Two Fingers, bearing the golden light power that could expunge the night entirely per Jolan's ash description, also has a target mark in red on her back 💀)
