"I can't believe you got him to agree to this." You say, shuffling a few papers on your desk in the Monaco apartment you share with Max.

Max looks at you, brow raised. "Are you kidding me? I didn't have to do any convincing. That man loves you. Honestly, I should probably be a little jealous of how eagerly he agreed to come on the show."

You roll your eyes, knowing that Max is being ridiculous. "As if I'd ever look at anyone but you." You tease, rising from your desk chair before crossing the room to sit on Max's lap.

When you had moved in with Max earlier in the year, one of the things he had insisted on was turning one of the spare rooms in his (well, now it was yours too, he had insisted on putting you on the deed to the property after your engagement, much to the dismay of his lawyer) apartment into a dual recording studio and office for you.

Tucked away in one of the corners was a large mahogany desk that you spent most of your time at. On the other side of the room that's decorated in tones of gold and champagne pink sits your podcasting setup with 2 comfy sitting chairs, microphones, and side tables. It's the perfect cozy setup. You didn't use this room all the time for your guests, a lot of the time you were traveling to meet them. This room was used for when you did your 'bonus session' episodes and when you had more personal friends on the show, like today's guest.

Max wraps his arms around your middle, pulling you closer into his chest. "Have I ever told you that I love you?" He murmurs, breath tickling the shell of your ear.

You hum, small grin spreading across your face as you lean your head further into the crook of his neck. "Not in the last ten minutes."

"Well, let me remedy that terrible fact." Max's lips skate over your jaw before they find their home. "I love you beyond words, schatje." His words are mumbled against your lips but you understand them all the same.

When he slips his tongue into your mouth you can't help the sigh that leaves your body. It doesn't matter how many times Max kisses you because every time his lips land on yours, it feels like the first time.

The make out session continues for several moments before you're interrupted by a buzzing on Max's phone. "Looks like he's here. You ready?"

You glance down at your outfit, casual but put together for the interview that you're sure will make some waves in the F1 world. Not only because of who it is but also because of what you got him to agree to discuss today. "I hope so!"

Max leaves the office to retrieve your guest as you begin prep on the room. You had decided to just run the entire episode by yourself today, giving Steve and Shannon the day off from filming since it was in your home and you liked to keep this environment as relaxed and low key as possible.

Voices float towards you as you finish up the last bits of preparation. And then, they're standing in the doorway.

"I hear congratulations are in order!"

"Lewis!" You croon, setting down the papers in your hands before crossing the room to your friend's opened arms. "Thank you so much."

Lewis chuckles before holding you out at arms length, "Let me see that rock. I'm sure Instagram did it no justice."

You happily hold out your left hand for Lewis to take, grinning like an idiot over his shoulder at Max, who is leaning against the door frame with the same goofy grin on his face. The word 'proud' didn't seem to do what he felt for you in this moment justice.

"He did good, didn't he?"

"Ma'am, that man is so wildly in love with you." Lewis chuckles before looking over his shoulder at Max. "Good taste there, mate."

Max nods. "Thanks. Can I get you anything before you guys get started?"

Lewis shakes his head and just like that, you go into work mode. You give Lewis a brief explanation on how it's going to work, just like you did for Max over a year ago. Meanwhile, Max sits at your desk and watches you work. In the last year, he hasn't really had the opportunity to watch you film and record a show because he's always felt in the way but this time is different. He had been the one to ask Lewis onto the show and it had been Lewis that insisted he stay to watch the entire interview when he had tried to excuse himself moments before.

You were so in your element is left Max in awe. The way you moved around the room with such confidence, setting up the cameras and microphones, talking to Lewis like he was a brother or an old friend, you really commanded the room and made both of these drivers, who were used to wrestling flying torpedos around hairpin curves going fast enough to kill someone was just awe inspiring.

"Okay, but seriously, before we wrap this up we need to talk about one more thing." You giggle a bit, watching as Lewis reaches down to scratch Rosco on the head.

"Shit." Lewis hisses while Max laughs from his spot at your desk where he's been watching the entire interview quietly. "I thought you were going to forget about that."

You toss your head back, laughing maniacally. "And blow the chance at having two fan bases hate me? As if, Hamilton. Max, do you want to join us?"

Although you have the air of someone who couldn't care less about the upcoming topic, secretly, your stomach twists with anxiety. When Max had suggested the finale to your landmark interview with Lewis and when Lewis had agreed to is, you had been confident that you could handle such a touchy subject but now? Now that you were face with actually having to talk to your friend about it on camera to be released for the entire world to see? You were having second thoughts.

Max stands and sits next to you in the chair that you had pulled out moments before.

"And before we even get started, I want to preface this final segment by saying that you both agreed to this before hand and I am not blindsiding anyone, right?"

Both men grin at you where you sit between them and nod. "We both agreed to this." Lewis says.

"Well I, for one, feel a bit like a hostage here having to agree to this on camera." You reach across and smack Max on the shoulder, causing him to smile even wider. "Yes, of course. We both agreed to this."

"We're a few years removed from the 2021 season. Lewis, looking back do you think there's anything you could have done differently to change the outcome?"

Lewis shrugs, "If you would have asked me that a year ago, I would have probably said yes but as we get further away from it I think we did everything we could have. Sometimes, there are decisions made and things happen that are outside of your control. As a racing driver, you want everything to be under your control and even when it's not, it's in our nature to take on everything as if it is under our control."

"Are you calling me a control freak?" Max quips from your other side.

"We're all control freaks, man." Lewis says with a chuckle.

"What's that saying? Hindsight is 20/20? Looking back, there are always things you see and go 'well that was a terrible decision." Max says, smiling over at his rival. "But at the time, we all made what we thought were the best decisions we could with the information we had in front of us. I don't think there was anything either of us could have done to have change the outcome based on what we knew then and there."

You nod, grinning at both of the men. "Can we talk about Abu Dhabi for a second? I don't want to talk about the race, that's been done to death. But, can you walk me through what was going through your head in the days after?"

"I isolated big time." Lewis says, looking down at his hands before reaching to scratch Rosco's head. "I took off and spent time alone and just did a lot of thinking. I hated that my championship came down to the decisions of one man. Had we been better and more consistent the entire year, it wouldn't have come down to the last lap. That was on me and no one else. I had to take that on and figure out how I was going to face the team after letting them down."

"But you didn't let them down." Max insists. "That entire season was a masterclass in never giving up and making something out of nothing. I mean, sure I was the beneficiary of that final call from Race Control but it could have easily went the other way. I don't know what I would have done had I been in your shoes after that race."

"You would have been fine." Lewis says. "You've always been better at compartmentalizing things on the track. I take a lot of my work home with me. It's why I struggle to let people in. I'm often caught up in my own world focusing on what I need to do to perform better and improve, racing takes up my whole life and I'm content with that. You're a different breed. You don't take work home with you and that's how you were able to land this gorgeous girl."

"Hey, lay off the flirting with my fiance." Max snaps good naturdly, reaching for your hand and giving Lewis a wink. "Your singular focus is how you've won so many championships though and no one can fault you for that."

The rest of the interview continues for a few more minutes before you begin to wrap things up. It's been almost two hours at that point and the last 30 minutes of the interview is just Max and Lewis talking racing, Max threatening to retire, and Lewis threatening to pull an Alonso and never retire.

When the episode it released, it is a complete surprise and incredibly well received by everyone inside and outside the F1 community, which was somewhat surprising to you as you know what a hot button issue the 2021 season was and how polarizing discussing that very last race could be. In the end, it's one of your more favorite episodes and it opens up the doors to many more sports interviews, including a partnership with F1 TV for some mid-season post-race work that has you doing even more of what you love: getting to know the people beneath the sheen and shine of their own celebrity.

"I honestly can't believe that this is actually happening"you told Charles as you sit down on your couch with your laptop.

The past few days have been a lot of preparation for the three most important dish of your life. You have been replicating and timing yourself to make sure that you are a perfectly well-oiled machine during the competition proper.

Charles is currently in Abu Dhabi for the final race which is a complete bummer. He wanted to be there but work is work. So that's why he spends most of his available time doing a facetime with you. It was pretty helpful since his conversations with you helps soothe your nerve and helps avoid overthinking the whole process.

"You got this mon amour. You know I always believed in you since day 1" Charles grinned.

"I really hope that everything goes well tomorrow"

"It will and I will be watching all the way from Yas Marina to hear that my girlfriend is a MasterChef winner"Charles proudly states "I'm really getting so excited, is this how you feel when you watch me race?"

You laughed "Oh mon ami, you are much more stressful to watch with your high speed corners and those wet race misshaps"

"But doesn't this technically make me your WAG if you win? Don't they have WAG gossip accounts that I could be part in?"

It was moments like this that Charles made everything lighter by focusing on trivial things. It helps a lot with the building pressure that everyone has been placing on your shoulder.

Final episode.

Former contestants lined up at the balcony with some of your friends and close relatives. It was a very surreal moment because you used to watch this sitting in the comforts of your own home and now you are actually the one being watched.

The moment that the clock starts ticking, you started to work. There was no room for any delays today as you were creating dishes after dishes. You have to use your time wisely so that you can finish the dishes you have in mind.

"Charles, were going out to drink, are you coming?"

"You guys go ahead, I'm going to watch something" The minute that the cars were back in the garage and the ceremony was over, Charles couldn't wait to go back to his hotel room. He was to turn on his TV to watch the live broadcast of the MasterChef Australia.

He was just on time with the last five minutes of the appetizer round, technically he haven't miss much. You were focused in tasting everything and ensuring that all the flavors are there. You plated really well and it shows how much you have grown. Charles is extremely proud of you.

"Aren't you a little worried to be working on the octopus so early on?" the judges wondered. The judges were currently tasting the soup that you have given them.

"I know that its a lot of risk but I have to push for it to show my talent"

The judges find the soup beautifully seasoned but their only slight flaw with the dish is that the octopus is a little bit tough due to the water not boiling hot enough. Its that flaw that sets a 2 point difference with your fellow contestant.

Charles could feel his eyes getting heavier from all the events earlier that day but he really wants to stay awake. He believes that Y/N could do it. The main course was a stronger dish for Y/N which is how she tied the score with her fellow contestant.

The dessert is the make and break for Y/N. Charles knew that its also her greatest opponent as you prefer savory over sweet. However, seeing the way that you are cooking right now that you have massively improved your skills in the sweets department.

It was tense as you run back and forth to the freezer to make sure that the pana cotta is chilled enough while you went back to your work station to mix the pot. Charles almost had a headache after seeing you trip over in the last 20 minutes of the session.

But all in all you pulled it off. The dessert was stunning and exquisite as the judges noticed. It was an elevated traditional pana cotta

"I believe we have made a decision and the scores are very very close with each other" one of the judges concluded.

The guests from the balcony went down to join the homecooks and Charles wishes that he could have been there for you. Instead, he records the moment through his phone. The announcement will be here in any seconds now.

"And the MasterChef Australia winner is....."

ok let's go over the facts about the alpine situation ~

anyone who is reading this feel free to add any information/event i haven't included and may be relevant for this timeline.

june 3rd: they announce that esteban leaves alpine

june 24th (ish): racingnews says that alpine sent an offer to carlos sainz (x) which later we know would join williams. also, we will learn in december through briatore that the alpine negotiations failed because "alpine wanted a longer commitment than carlos was willing to offer (he was only willing to sign for two years meanwhile alpine/briatore wanted four)." (x)

july 1st: franco is announced to drive the fp1 at silverstone using logan's car. it's the first and only time he gets a fp as a reserve driver. (JV says this)

july 29th: carlos is finally announced as a full time driver for williams from 2025 onwards which meant the alpine seat was still "available".

july 31st: an italian outlet announces that jack is soon to be announced/sign for 2025.

august 23rd: alpine announces jack with what it seemed one year contract.

august 27th: williams announces franco would race for the remainder of the season and that they were dropping logan (yes, in that order).

september 1st: franco debuts on f1 where he gains 6 places (fun fact: one of his overtakes was on gasly x) + alex finishes p10 while he ends p12 - it was the closest gap timewise between williams drivers in 2024. he ended the race above the two alpine drivers (esteban p14, pierre p15).

september 15th: franco gets into q3, outqualifies alex (the fan incident) and scores points in a williams. (another overtake on gasly btw). williams passes alpine in the constructors championship.

september 22nd: another overtake on pierre. (x) + the divebomb + the pitlane mistake

october 20th: austin - fourth race ever. he gets into the sq3, spins during sq3, then qualifies p15 for the main race. climbs 5 positions (yes, another overtake on pierre - i love pierre, but it's funny and relevant for this, sorry (x) and the unfamous THE FRENCH STOLE FROM ME THE FASTEST LAP

november 6th: here's a video (x)

november 7th: after brazil (sixth race)

november 30th: franco is seen with briatore and his manager (+ the netflix crew).

december 2nd: after the race: alpine "fires" esteban ?? and jack steps up to replace him.

december 3rd: during the abu dhabi gp weekend, williams releases an episode of team torque where alex is kind of sus talking about alpine (x) - i tried to look for it in the youtube version but i couldn't find it.

in my opinion, flavio never stopped looking for a driver he liked more or someone he saw as having greater potential. alpine already has jack’s data, and he has been their reserve driver for two years. I don’t want to speculate, but it seems like they might not be fully convinced about his performance based on that.

franco made his debut just days after alpine announced jack, which means the contract was signed before franco emerged. as briatore said, franco came out of nowhere for the non-williams teams.

it’s not franco’s fault. if anything, it might be alpine’s mistake for rushing into a decision when they thought they didn’t have - what they might consider - a better and "cheaper" option available.

also it seems odd that briatore talks about committment when talking about sainz, but they signed jack for only a year...

i don't what will happen in this telenovela because we can't even compare franco vs jack :/ abu dhabi is not a valid parameter because yes, jack qualified far behind franco who was driving a barely breathing joint by duct tape williams, but it was also his first f1 qualy which seems "unfair" to judge that. also franco was out of the race because of oscar bumping into him under vsc so well, i guess we will see...

DISCLAIMER: this is all for fun and should be taken very lightheartedly. Not all drivers were included, but I am open to suggestions as well as constructive criticism.

Without further ado:

CHARLES LECLERC - I Can Do It With A Broken Heart

Absolutely suicidal lyrics that should be mildly concerning but all in all very upbeat and makes you want to run around doing side quests. Such as write an album, or open an ice cream shop. I'm thinking this is specifically 2022 Charles when he trusted no one at Ferrari, or mid-2023 when everyone was calling him washed and calling for his teammate to be n1 driver, and then he proceeded to put it on pole in a tractor multiple times and still hasn't finished outside the top 5 since. Either way, I am looking forward how this song will hit when Charles gets his eventual championship.

MAX VERSTAPPEN - Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?

This one is for Mad Max, who was thrust onto the world stage as an untested young prodigy at seventeen, who was called too young and immature and proceeded to win a GP upon debut in a top team, who was called Crashtappen from 2015-2019 and labelled as overly aggressive to his detriment, who was painted as a villain by every media outlet and documentary and DTS episode, who said "fuck the haters" and won championships anyway, who broke records, and made his own national anthem the expected song for every podium. A driver who is fast approaching greatest of all time status, for his win streaks alone. A driver that most others now just shrug about, because there's no shame in not choosing to fight the inevitable.

LEWIS HAMILTON - So Long, London

Ah, the heart-wrenching track of letting go of your long-term British relationship that doesn't serve you anymore. So many lyrics from here I could apply to the rumoured break down of amicable relations between Lewis and Mercedes, the team he won six championships with. From "My spine split from carrying us up the hill" to "I didn't opt in to be your odd man out. I founded the club she's heard great things about" to "you say I abandoned the ship But I was going down with it. My white-knuckle dying grip. Holding tight to your quiet resentment". Honestly, I could copy and paste all the lyrics here and they would apply to Lewis' Merc swan song. Taylor wrote "you swore that you loved me but where were the clues, I died on the altar waiting for the proof." about Abu Dhabi 2021.

CARLOS SAINZ - The Prophecy

Carlos has been delivering some of the best drives of his career this season, but it doesn't matter because he's not the chosen one, he's not il predestinato, he's not the son of Maranello. No matter what he does, he would never have kept that Ferrari seat over the mythos of Charles Leclerc. "Let it once be me. Who do I have to speak to, to redo the prophecy?"

LANDO NORRIS - Guilty as Sin?

Specifically given for half-flirting with Red Bull for most of last season, only to shake himself out of it and re-sign with McLaren, but I have one eye on him, not entirely sure he's given up on the Red Bull daydream, and Red Bull have been open about wanting to get him, if they can. It's all on Lando to stay faithful.

OSCAR PIASTRI - Fresh Out the Slammer

Piastrigate continues to inspire and compel an entire generation of F1 fans, and as such should form the basis of Oscar's song selection. What was the promises that Alpine made him, if not "Gray and blue and fights and tunnels Handcuffed to the spell I was under For just one hour of sunshine"

FERNANDO ALONSO - Florida!!!

Florida!!! is a big and powerful song about being a Shakespearean villain with a History and questionable morals and motives. Who is that if not Fernando Alonso? "Tell me I'm despicable, say it's unforgivable." "Is that a bad thing to say in a song?"

LANCE STROLL - But Daddy I Love Him

Yeah this one is self-indulgent and too good to resist. He's singing it about Fernando btw. Next.

DANIEL RICCIARDO - Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus

Someone is getting that Red Bull seat next year, and every name is on the list except Daniel Ricciardo. "As the decade played us for fools, you saw my bones out with somebody new." Who knows what would have happened if Daniel hadn't left Red Bull, all those years ago? "Just say you loved me the way you were" Oof. We could spend years living in the What Ifs of it all.

Amelie tossed her heels onto the carpet and collapsed face-first onto the plush hotel bed. The adrenaline from the weekend was finally fading, leaving her with a cocktail of exhaustion and emptiness. She hated how returning to the F1 world had stirred up so many old memories—and old wounds.

There was a knock at her door. Soft at first. Then louder. Then relentless banging.

—Amelie! Open up!— George’s unmistakable voice called, accompanied by the sound of Alex’s exaggerated groan.

—Come on, Am!— Alex added. —You’re not hiding in here all night. The gang’s back together—don’t ruin the vibe!—

Amelie groaned into her pillow. The last thing she wanted to do was go to an afterparty, especially knowing who else would be there.

—Go away!— she shouted, but her voice was muffled by the duvet she’d pulled over her head.

—Nope,— George shot back. —We’re not leaving until you let us in!—

The banging continued until Amelie caved. She dragged herself off the bed and opened the door, her glare meeting two very determined—and slightly smug—faces.

—You’re both children,— she muttered, stepping aside to let them in.

—And you’re boring,— George quipped, flopping onto her bed like he owned the place. Alex followed, sprawling out dramatically.

—You’re not getting out of this,— Alex said, propping himself up on an elbow. —It’s been forever since we’ve all been together. You’re coming to the party, even if we have to drag you there kicking and screaming.—

Amelie crossed her arms, glaring at them both. —Why do you two care so much?”

—Because,— George said, grinning, —this is the first time in ages the gang’s back together. And because you’ve been sulking all weekend, and we’re not letting you wallow.—

—I’m not wallowing,— Amelie shot back defensively.

—Sure you’re not,— Alex said, smirking. —Now go get dressed. Something hot. You’ve got, like, five minutes.—

With a resigned sigh, Amelie grabbed her makeup bag and stomped into the bathroom. —You’re both insufferable!— she shouted through the door.

—We know!— George called back, unbothered.

As she touched up her makeup and changed into a sleek black dress, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of excitement—despite herself. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. Maybe she could survive one night without thinking about him.

Amelie emerged from the bathroom twenty minutes later, her makeup flawless and her dress hugging her figure in all the right places. George and Alex, who had made themselves far too comfortable lounging on her bed, wolf-whistled in unison.

—There she is!— George declared, dramatically clutching his chest like he’d been struck by Cupid’s arrow. —Amelie, you look stunning. If I weren’t already spoken for…—

—You’d still be shit out of luck,— Alex interrupted, grinning. —But seriously, you look great.—

Amelie rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress the small smile tugging at her lips. —Alright, let’s get this over with. The sooner we get there, the sooner I can leave.—

George hopped off the bed, clapping his hands. —That’s the spirit! Let’s go, party queen!—

They piled into a car and headed to the afterparty. The night air was crisp, the city lights of Abu Dhabi glinting like a promise of trouble. Amelie leaned her head against the window, letting George and Alex’s chatter fade into the background. She could do this. Just one night. She didn’t have to talk to him—or even look at him.

When they arrived at the venue, the music was already pulsing through the walls, the heavy bass reverberating in her chest. The room was packed with familiar faces—drivers, team members, and a handful of celebrities who always seemed to pop up at these events. George and Alex led the way, weaving through the crowd with ease, while Amelie trailed behind, clutching a glass of champagne someone had handed her on the way in.

The party was in full swing, and Amelie tried her best to blend into the chaos, sipping her champagne and nodding politely at the occasional greeting. It wasn’t long before George and Alex dragged her toward the center of the action, their infectious energy impossible to ignore.

—Come on, Amelie! Dance a little!— Alex shouted over the music, already swaying with exaggerated moves.

She rolled her eyes but couldn’t help laughing. —You look like a dad at a wedding!—

—And you’re the grumpy aunt!— he shot back, grabbing her hand and twirling her. George joined in, the three of them creating their own little dance circle. For a moment, Amelie allowed herself to forget—forget the tension, the memories, and the lingering ache in her chest. She was here, surrounded by friends, and it felt good.

Then she saw him.

Lando was perched behind the DJ booth, his hands on the turntables, headphones around his neck. He looked... different. His hair was slightly messier, like he’d run his fingers through it a thousand times. His jawline was sharper, his smile more confident. The Lando she remembered had always been boyishly handsome, but this version of him—older, more self-assured—was undeniably striking.

Amelie froze, her breath catching in her throat. She hadn’t been this close to him in over a year, and seeing him now, she hated how her heart reacted. She quickly turned away, focusing on the champagne glass in her hand as if it held all the answers.

—Hey, you okay?— George asked, noticing her sudden shift.

—Yeah,— she lied, forcing a smile. —I just need another drink.—

She slipped away before he could press further, weaving through the crowd to the bar. As she downed a vodka soda, she couldn’t shake the image of Lando from her mind. It wasn’t fair. He wasn’t supposed to look like that—like he’d spent the last year thriving while she’d been trying to piece herself back together.

Hours passed, and Amelie found herself leaning heavily on the buzz of alcohol to dull her nerves. She danced with Alex and George, laughed at their terrible jokes, and even posed for a few photos with other drivers. But no matter how much she tried to distract herself, her eyes kept wandering back to the DJ booth.

Lando was no longer there.

Her stomach twisted in frustration. She shouldn’t care where he was or what he was doing. But the alcohol had a way of softening her defenses, and despite every ounce of her willpower, she found herself scanning the room for him.

It didn’t take long to find him.

He was in the middle of the dance floor, his arms wrapped around a blonde girl who looked like she’d stepped out of a modeling campaign. Lando was laughing, his signature smile brighter than the neon lights flashing around him. The girl pressed herself against him, her hands sliding over his shoulders, and Amelie’s chest tightened as she watched them move together.

She told herself to look away. To go find George or Alex or anyone else who could distract her. But her feet were rooted to the spot, her eyes glued to the scene unfolding before her.

Lando caught her gaze.

It was brief—a flicker of recognition in his eyes as he noticed her standing on the edge of the room. His smile faltered for half a second before shifting into something else entirely. A challenge. A dare.

Amelie’s breath hitched as his gaze lingered on her, bold and unrelenting. He knew she was watching. And he didn’t look away.

Instead, he leaned down and kissed the girl.

Amelie’s heart plummeted. The kiss wasn’t soft or hesitant. It was deliberate, meant to be seen. Meant for her to see.

Her hand tightened around her glass, the cold condensation biting into her skin as a rush of anger bubbled to the surface. She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks, the telltale signs of too much alcohol and too many emotions she couldn’t control.

—Fucking Lando,— she muttered under her breath, downing the rest of her drink in one go. The vodka burned, but it was nothing compared to the sting in her chest.

Amelie turned on her heel, determined to put as much distance between herself and the dance floor as possible. The air inside the venue suddenly felt suffocating, the bass of the music pounding in her chest like a cruel reminder of everything she was trying to forget.

She made her way to the bar again, hoping another drink might help drown the mess of emotions swirling in her head. But as she leaned against the counter, waiting for the bartender to notice her, George appeared at her side.

—There you are,— he said, his voice tinged with concern. —You disappeared on us.—

—I’m fine,— Amelie replied quickly, too quickly. She didn’t meet his eyes, focusing instead on the bartender as she ordered another vodka soda.

George wasn’t convinced. —Am, what’s going on? You’ve been off all night. And don’t say you’re fine, because I know you’re not.—

—I don’t want to talk about it,— she said, her voice sharper than she intended.

She forced a smile back, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. —Let’s just go dance.—

George didn’t argue. Together, they rejoined Alex on the dance floor, throwing themselves into the music with reckless abandon. Amelie danced like she was trying to outrun her thoughts, her movements wild and unrestrained. For a while, it worked. She laughed, spun, and lost herself in the rhythm, surrounded by friends who cared about her.

But no matter how much she tried to ignore it, she couldn’t shake the weight of Lando’s gaze. Every so often, she’d glance across the room and find his eyes on her, his expression unreadable. It was like a game neither of them wanted to admit they were playing—a dance of avoidance and confrontation, fueled by unresolved feelings and too much alcohol.

By the end of the night, Amelie was exhausted—not just physically but emotionally. She stumbled out of the venue with George and Alex, their laughter ringing in her ears as they helped her into a car. As they drove back to the hotel, she leaned her head against the cool glass of the window, her thoughts a tangled mess.

Lando Norris was trouble. He always had been. And no matter how much time passed, no matter how much she tried to move on, he had a way of getting under her skin like no one else could.

But tonight had reminded her of one thing: she couldn’t let him win. Not again.

The interviewer asked the Ferrari driver who seems quite impressed to the asked question, she had been waiting for this question for far too long now.

"Hmm, some things to expect are sexism and dating rumours, like tons of it! " the audience and her fellow drivers had laughed on what the 23 year old driver had said "Hey it's true though, Sexism is expected since you have a career in male dominated industry, people will doubt you, hate on you and will analyze whatever you are doing, even if you are getting so much hate from everyone don't let it get in your head." mutters surrounded the room as the Ferrari continued to answer the question

"Dating scandals or rumours will be your doom while being a female formula 1 driver, you cannot be seen hanging out with male drivers it will automaticaly be a headline on many news outlet, like look at these gentlemens I had been reported to either be dating or being engaged to these four which is unfortunate for me" The girl had her palm point to the drivers seating on her left side, Lewis had whispered something to Daniel's right ear, which causes the Australian to speak on the microphone

"oh okay cheater, actually everyone, she's four timing us" The female driver fake gasped "oh my gosh, how did you know!, my secret is revealed." the girl exclaimed putting a hand on her mouth pretending to be shocked

"we saw your schedule, lewis occupied your Monday and Tuesday, Charles occupies your Wednesday and Sunday, me and Lando occupies your Thursday, Friday and Saturday, you player." The Australian pretending to count on his fingers,

"Like how can you do that to your husband of 2 years" Lewis pointed to Daniel "your fiancé, me" "and your boyfriend and ex for 3 years" the British pointed out to the two who are now giggling like little girls "See they're now backstabbing you"

"I swear she can star as the player on one of the sza's song called, what is it called again?" Lando suddenly spoke to his mic in which the Mercedes driver answered

"the weekend, My man is my man, is your man, Heard it's her man too" The Mercedes driver sang a verse from the song clearly singing it to the 23 year old driver who's rolling her eyes

"And...AND out of all things you can replace on my behalf you chose a personification of a Greek god, a seven time world champion and has a whole three season of a Netflix show dedicated to him. I. Cannot. Believe. This." The Belgian driver acclaimed as he looks at the audience pretending to cry "this is why we don't fall in love people." Lewis announced to the audience while 'comforting' the younger McLaren driver.

"especially when it's a 23 year old female Ferrari driver who adopted a Maltese saying she can take care of it but in fact she can't even take care of herself " Charles finally spoke up, dropping the biggest bomb, in which the drivers and people laughed except for the 23 year old Ferrari driver

(Y/n) had thrown a middle finger to her older friend "Girl shut up nobody cares, anyways to all little girls who are watching this and dreaming of becoming a formula 1 driver, not just dream it make it real, and if you ever see this men like here don't be afraid to cuss them out"

the crowd erupts in a flood of laughter clearly enjoying the skit that happened in front of them, as the laughter dies down, another question had been asked.

A/N : Finally, we've reached the conclusion of the first season of "Down The Road." I feel deeply touched that there are still people joining in to read both the old and new chapters. I'm delighted that you've enjoyed the stories from my head.

I must confess that SMAU fics aren't really my thing because I tend to focus more on narratives. That's why I've included captions under every image. I felt that without these extensions, it would be quite frustrating for me.

One thing you might have noticed is that I didn't use chat format to narrate the first season. because I wanted the readers to have a sense of the mockumentary format from different perspectives and then piece it together. I feel that the chat format might destroy the mystery of the story. so I decided not to include it (However, in George Russell's part for Next Season, I thought I should add a chat element).

I'm still excited to continue this series. As long as I have inspiration and support from everyone, however, this fic consumes a lot of my energy. I've been consistently writing for a full month, with only about 4 hours of sleep a day throughout the week, to write these fics for you to read. and it's affecting my health significantly. So, I need to take a temporary break before I continue with the new story in Season 2, which is about Max Verstappen x Reader (spoiler: enemies to lovers). I hope you won't forget about me and will eagerly await Season 2.

Apart from keeping an eye on the new champion, what has everyone on edge is the rumor that Hamilton might retire. Is it true? Or is there something else we don't know? This is the final episode of Season 1, "Down The Road" that viewers must watch closely!

The championship has become the most closely watched position this year, with three drivers who can score points closely and have equal chances of winning this year. Will Verstappen maintain his fourth championship? Or will Hamilton succeed in claiming his eighth title? Or could it be Y/N who makes history as the first woman to win The Formula 1 Championship? So here are some of the main talking points heading to Abu Dhabi...

How possible is it for Y/N to beat the two best male drivers in the world? 

It's undeniable that Y/N plays a crucial role in propelling her team to be on par with Ferrari and Mercedes in terms of total points. However, defeating Red Bull, which boasts a superior engine, remains a distant possibility, especially considering her relatively limited experience in Formula 1, having just one year under her belt. This differs significantly from Verstappen and Hamilton, both of whom have already clinched world championships and managed the pressures on the track more effectively than Y/N.

There's another aspect to consider, and that's the complex dynamic between Hamilton and Y/N in their roles as mentor and protege. They share a close and highly respectful bond. Flashbacks to 2023 at Suzuka Circuit come to mind, where Y/N made a stunning debut by narrowly defeating Hamilton. The young driver received genuine congratulations from him. However, will he be as gracious if Y/N triumphs this season, especially given Hamilton's clear intention to secure his eighth world championship after missing out to Verstappen in 2021. There are reports that Lewis Hamilton might be considering retirement after successfully clinching his eighth championship. 

These rumors began circulating after an interview during the United States Grand Prix 2024, where the seven-time world champion responded to media inquiries about his plans for the future, saying, "I have many things I want to do in the future. One of them is to start a family because I'm 39 years old now, and it's time for me to lay down some roots." 

While there hasn't been a clear confirmation from Hamilton, this is seen as a potential sign of retirement for one of this generation's greatest drivers.

And about the two prominent contenders who have a chance to vie for the World Championship, Max Verstappen and Y/N YLN, Hamilton acknowledges that both of them are formidable rivals with the potential to become the next world champion. However, Hamilton makes it clear that he's not willing to give up the championship for an eighth time easily.

“Their team has great engines, and it's clear that they also have talent. That's something everyone agrees with when they see them both racing in competition, especially Y/N. I hope to see her become the World Champion because, as the first woman in Formula 1, it would be a tremendous achievement for all of us to see a woman in that position. However, it won't be easy this year because I'm determined to secure a win as well, and I'm not one to give in easily.”

Important Announcement from Me

This is a difficult decision for me, but I need to announce a temporary retirement from being a Formula 1 driver to focus on the most important thing for me, which is building our family.

Lewis Hamilton and I have known each other for a long time since my days as a driver at the F1 Academy. Our relationship began with mutual respect. He is the only driver who has cared to involve women more in the world of Formula 1, and due to his strong support, I got the opportunity to compete in Formula 1 as a full-fledged driver, which is a significant achievement in this sport.

Throughout my time in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton and I developed a close and strong relationship. He has become my idol, my mentor, my competitor, and my love. We always intended to keep these stories secret to maintain our privacy and allow us to focus on Formula 1 without distractions. However, being falsely accused by the media forced us to distance ourselves and go our separate ways. But strangely, the distance made both of us realize how much we love each other and how much we want to spend the rest of our lives together.

Lewis Hamilton and I had a private wedding ceremony in Italy, surrounded by friends, family, and other Formula 1 drivers. It was the happiest time of my life because I married the one I love and discovered that I had been pregnant for two months.
