Odysseus is king of Ithaca, right?

He never pulls the "I am your king, I order you to blah blah blah" card on his crew. He totally could've pulled that out when Eurylochus was about to kill the cow, he could've ordered his men not to open the bag because he's their king, he has that authority

But he never does. If anything, him being king has only been mentioned 3 times to my knowledge so far, he says it once to the cyclops, Posidon says it, and Zeus mocks him with his title

He never ever pulls the king card out on his crew, and ya wanna know why I think so?

He has respect for his crew, and to him, he's their captain, not their king

So a little detail in Epic the musical that has me in in a goddamn chokehold.

In WYFILWMA Penelope's first lines are

Is it you? Have my prayers been answered? Is it really you standing there, or am I dreaming one more?

And that's absolutely killing me. Yes, I know that's a perfectly normal thing for a woman to miss and dream of her husband coming home, but it's still shattering my heart into pieces everytime I hear it.

Because imagine; Penelope's laying in the wedding bed, it's late at night, she can't even fall asleep because she misses Odysseus, she's worried about Telemachus and stressed about the suitors in her home. She finally falls asleep, and starts dreaming. She dreams about Odysseus returning home, and she swears she can feel him hugging her even though she knows he's not there. She has this dream multiple times, and it's so vivid and she wakes up with tears in her eyes every single time.

An add-on to this, in ICHBW, Telemachus' first few lines are

All my life, I'd have died to meet you, thought about your name so much it hurts, for 20 years I dreamt of how I'd greet you

So on the other hand, while Penelope's got tears falling from her eyes as she sleeps, Telemachus is awake, laying in his bed and thinking about what he'll say when his father finally returns home. He isn't even sure if he ever will, but he's got hope. Penelope's told him that someday he'll meet his father, she's sure of that. He trusts what his mother says, so he keeps hope that someday, he'll meet Odysseus. Maybe sometimes he even imagines fighting off the suitors with his father.

Epic Thunder Saga and the musical generally has got me in a chokehold so I designed Zeus and Helios!

Very sketchy designs but! I had so much fun. I tried to make Helios look as eldritch/inhuman as possible because he is the Sun personified in myth. Though I’m not sure if Helios is actually in Epic because Jay just said “the sun god” and Apollo appears in God Games, likely has a grievance with Odysseus, associated with the sun and with cows (Hermes myth), so Helios could’ve just been merged with Apollo in Epic. But Idk.

you step outside of the burrow, the warmth of the sun wrapping around you like a comforting blanket, but it does nothing to soothe the cold ache in your heart. It's been exactly nine days since fred's laughter had filled these very grounds, and now, all you're met with is a deafening silence, broken only by the distant chirping of birds and the rustle of leaves whispering secrets to each other. the vibrant shine of your hair seems to have lost its luster in the wake of his passing, and you feel like a ghost wandering through a world that's lost its color. your eyes are drawn to the horizon, where the sun is playing peek-a-boo with the tree line, casting long shadows that stretch out like arms reaching for something just out of grasp.

the twin's room, once a bastion of laughter and camaraderie, is now a silent tomb. the door remains closed, a stark reminder of the unspoken pain that lingers within. every day, you hear the muffled sobs and the occasional outburst of rage from george, but for the most part, the only indication of life is the soft glow of light that seeps through the cracks. meals are left outside his door, untouched and growing cold. the twins' mischievous pranks are a thing of the past, replaced by a palpable heaviness that sits in the very air you breathe. the burrow feels like a ship without a rudder, adrift in a sea of grief, with no map to guide you to calmer waters.

you decide to escape the oppressive atmosphere for a while and go for a walk. you amble through the garden, passing the gnome pebbles that now lay still and the plants that seem to droop with sadness. the sun kisses your cheeks, but it feels more like a gentle nudge of encouragement rather than a warm embrace. as you near the end of the garden, you spot a familiar path that you and fred used to take on your adventures. it's tree-lined, with the sun peeking through the canopy in patches that dance across the dirt as the branches sway in the breeze. you take a deep breath, filling your lungs with the scent of earth and leaves, and begin to walk.

you miss the way fred could make you laugh with the silliest of jokes, his eyes crinkling at the corners with mischief. you miss the comforting weight of his arm slung around your shoulders, the way he'd whisper sweet nothings into your ear that somehow felt like everything. you miss his enthusiasm for the most mundane of things, turning a simple walk into an epic quest for the perfect stick to poke at things with. as you stroll down the path, you imagine you can almost hear his footsteps beside you, the rustle of leaves echoing with his laughter. but when you look over, there's only the empty space where he should be, and it hits you like a punch to the gut. you'll never again feel his hand in yours, never share another secret whisper or inside joke, never see the world through his playful, magical eyes.

the ache in your chest swells until it feels like it might consume you whole. you miss his fiery spirit that could brighten even the darkest of days, the warmth of his smile that could melt away your worries. you miss the way he'd challenge you to be braver, to live louder, to love deeper. every tree, every stone, every dappled ray of sunlight is a silent reminder of the joy he brought to your life, and now, the stark reality that you'll never experience it again with him at your side. it's as if the very essence of your existence has been torn in two, and you're left trying to navigate a world that seems to have lost its color and meaning.

you pause, reaching up to gently trace the deepening scar on your cheek, a grim souvenir from the battle's chaos. the skin is still tender, a constant reminder of the moment when the wall had exploded, the moment when fred was taken from you. you remember the searing heat, the deafening roar, the sudden weightlessness as you were thrown back. and then, the silence. the world had gone mute except for the ringing in your ears and the distant wails of those who had been hurt or lost. it's a scar that tells a story of pain and loss, but also of survival and resilience. it's a battle scar, a testament to the price you paid for the world's freedom.

as you make your way back to the burrow, your thoughts drift to the life you had before, the life where fred's laughter was a constant melody in the background. you recall the countless hours spent in the kitchen, trying to perfect a new joke or prank together, his brown eyes alight with excitement as he whispered the latest idea. the burrow feels like a different place now, like a book with a torn page, forever changed and never to be whole again.

as you open the door to the kitchen, your heart skips a beat. for a fleeting moment, you think you see fred sitting at the table, his hair a fiery halo around his face, his grin wide and welcoming. but as you blink away the tears that threaten to spill over, the mirage fades, and you're left staring at george. his eyes are red-rimmed, his face etched with pain and exhaustion. your hand flies to your mouth to stifle a gasp, the sudden realization crashing over you like a wave. it's not fred. it's never going to be fred again.

I was going to write a pretty long post about Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and post it on my main blog, but I didn't think anyone would want to read that, and then it led into me just making this blog. Haha. So I guess if you're here, you do want to read my long rambly thoughts. Here is what I think of the game...

I feel like we're living in a time where creativity is kind of running thin. All we're getting from the industry (and by that I mean Disney because they have a chokehold on everything) is remakes, remasters. Retellings. It's gotten to a point where indie projects feel more creatively sound than projects worked on by huge companies that have ten times the staff. I'm not particularly huge on video game remakes... there's very few remakes I prefer over the originals, and a lot of the times it feels like remakes are just being created to capitalize on the nostalgia people have for it without really enhancing or trying to fix the flaws in the original game. COUGH POKEMON BD/SP COUGH

And in that regard. Epic Mickey (2010) is a very flawed game. It has a lot of objective problems with the platforming mechanics and visuals and such. Mickey is pretty difficult to control... the slow platforming combined with the awkward camera combined with the extremely dark hard-to-navigate visuals made certain parts of the game either very boring or very frustrating. I consider Epic Mickey to be a pretty great game that just suffers from inconsistent difficulty spikes and unclear objectives (which is almost exactly how I feel about Undertale, one of my favorite games ever! so don't take it personally Epic Mickey, heheh)...

Now that Rebrushed is out, I have to say... it turns Epic Mickey from a good but flawed game into a really really excellent game.

Mickey is so fun to control, I'm triple jumping and dashing everywhere and having a blast. I never realized how lackluster the motion controls of the original game were until I played Epic Mickey mapped to a conventional game controller!! He's got a sprint... a more efficient spin attack... a ground pound, a dash... Mickey just feels so much more mobile now, and I never thought such a small change could improve the game so much... the platforming is fun now!! And the visual overhaul really really helps with that, too. Some people were upset that the atmosphere is less dark, but I welcome it with open arms. Who knew that being able to see the the world and the things around you... would make the gameplay easier to understand? Gamechanger...

Besides the platforming overhaul, I really really like how they handled the quest system here. I'm gonna be honest, I rarely did the non-story important quests back in the original game because it was just so hard to keep up with-- and I don't even remember what the original organization system for the quests were. But now they're so incredibly easy to do!! The game lets you know exactly where you need to go to do the quest, what you need to do, and who you need to return to when it's finished. And I ended up doing just about every quest in the game!! Even the boring ones like painting in the plants in each hub world and fixing the Bog Easy bridges. I did end up missing a few quests... a couple of characters showed up as Lost Souls in the final level, which only makes me more determined to do all of the quests in my next Paint route playthrough. And that's crazy!! I hate side quests!!

I just really appreciate how hard the game works to make sure that you're not without an objective to reach or thing to do. The map shows you exactly where you need to head in each level, along with the updated quest journal, along WITH being able to talk to Gus in the overworld (which I'm sure was a thing in the original and I just don't remember it, he seems much easier to locate now..), in general it feels like the game is working with you to ensure that you don't get lost. Maybe it's just doing it to make the game easier on young kids, but is that so bad...?

Quality of life updates... being able to skip the projector stages is pretty convenient. Originally those stages didn't bother me as much as they did other people, but I will say that I did skip them just about every time, heheh. Along with the small changes made to particularly frustrating missions... I noticed a lot of the time-based mini objectives were either eased or removed completely. That's nice! And turned enemies converting other enemies with Paint, now, instead of thinning them out is very nice. Also... the hub worlds staying painted / thinned out!! It really makes the game feel like it's dynamically changing with your choices. I feel like I'm making a difference in this world when I walk into a completely painted Mean Street-- and on the opposite end, it's super eerie to enter a completely empty one on the Thinner route.

On that note... I see people complaining that the morality system of the game wasn't changed, and it makes me scratch my head a little bit. This is a problem people have with the original game-- that the differing routes of the game feel underbaked, and while I can understand that perspective I don't really agree with it.

Epic Mickey is a game that is meant to dynamically change with the choices you make. In that regard, you're not railroaded down any certain path. There is one singular main story, one main objective-- to get the rocket parts and go home-- and that doesn't change depending on what path you take. How you get there is what matters, and the world changes to reflect how you've affected it. The music changes, the townies carry themselves differently and have different dialogue, (the overworld now sticks to your modifications!!) your relationships with characters progress in different ways... and, in that sense, the Thinner Route is not meant to be a giant, bombastic smokeshow of violence and chaos... it's a subtle degradation of the world around you. It's something you're meant to FEEL, even if you can't see the effects immediately. It's a story about decay and neglect. Which is also what the Paint Route is about, but in a different way.

And, even further in that regard, I don't think anything needed to be changed about it. There's no need to change the cutscenes; Oswald's going to give Mickey back his Heart no matter what he does, and I feel like that aspect of his character only enhances the Thinner Route and its consequences. Oswald may hate you if you're a Thinner crazed mouse that goes around destroying and neglecting everything... but he also loves you!! Because, at its core-- Epic Mickey is a story about love. Changing that for the purpose of making a more "satisfying" morality system just kind of goes against what the game is.

...I think that pretty much wraps up all of my important thoughts on the game. It's no doubt the definitive way to play it. Even if I advocate for the grimy, unpolished look of the original game... Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a clear example of what a good remake IS. It was definitely a game that NEEDED to be remade.

And not just because I love it so much! But that may have influenced my thoughts, too, heheh.

EPIC: The Musical has me in a chokehold so I made a TBOSAS AU where the tributes are all eldritch creatures whose true might was dormant. Maybe reaping them at the same time was a rebel plot, maybe it was divine intervention, but it happens. It happens and the stress of the situation causes one of them to snap. The others soon follow.

All have eldritch forms tied to an element. Ones that aren’t the traditional four count (so metal, void, light etc). They have minor control over that element aside from the eldritch form and can spawn whole realms where their inner creature thrives which only they can access. So a creature tied to the element fire can be resting in their own personal badass volcano lair and then spawn in the ‘real’ world via a portal in the form of a flame. They can create the flame too, but they can’t travel very far and there are ways to mess with the teleportation. Also, the kids retain a version of their human form even when they’re ‘transformed’ because their eldritch form isn’t an alternate form, it’s more an extension of them that’s hidden until they reveal them. I’m using the word transformation because it’s easier. I’ve got many ideas but I’ll start with what inspired this AU: Treech as Scylla in the song Scylla.

I’m going with snakes over the dogs sometimes used in mythology because I think it’s more terrifying (and also I’ve seen one animatic with adorable serpents and fell in love with the big eyes and boopable snouts and massive razor sharp teeth dripping with blood). Treech’s eldritch form is a base with six ginormous serpents sticking out of it. If his human form’s attached to it, he’s a part of the base, usually with only his upper body visible. He has scales with a gradient of forest green, indigo, and Persian blue. When fully transformed, all of his eyes are a glowing icy blue or maya blue (I want to make them fully black but with all the dark shades that’s less terrifying imo) and his human form has lines of scales going in spirals down his body and creeping up on the edges of his face. When Treech starts his transformation, his pupils turn into predator slits and his irises turn light blue. The blue spreads out until it takes up the whole eye. When he gets mad, it might bleed into the veins around his eyes. The serpents themselves start out as glowing outlines all over his skin like tattoos that start to peel off and slowly grow to the terrifying size of his full eldritch form.

The part in the song after Scylla says “hello :)” is the part where he transforms, his voice slowly sounding more and more inhuman (he can sound like a human but like- go big or go home right?) and instead of just killing six people he massacres whole squads of peacekeepers (though he spares innocents like kids because he’s determined to rub it in the Capitol’s face that a literal man-eating serpent monster is more compassionate than they could ever hope to be) in his quest for both vengeance and freedom. It’s not even the biggest slaughter in the big revenge spree the tributes go on together, but still. I’m giving Treech vague siren-like aspects (his singing voice can cause a loss of focus and amply emotions like fear) instead of the telepathy Scylla has in EPIC. A little nod to the song that started this AU.

I might continue this and I’m working on some art for this AU (might post, might not, I’m not sure yet).

I’m just kinda rambling here - that’s what Tumblr has become for me - a place to ramble 😂😂

I’ve just been having a lot of thoughts about what I want to write this year and I’ve had lots of inspiration lately. I’m very excited for my Fengqing Assassins AU, but I think I’m going to write my Angel/Demon AUs first. Idk 2025 is giving me Angel/demon vibes 😂😂 Plus I think it will be a nice way to ease into that Assassins AU because it’s going to be a lot.

What do I mean by a lot? Lots of world building (I have a map drawn and lore written already) and a very intricate plot with hopefully good twists and turns. It’s also going to be pretty dark and angsty - similar to my Evanescence fic. And I just want to do this story justice so I’m going to take my time outlining and fleshing it out. It’s going to be pretty dark and gritty, and the ending might be more bittersweet than happy, but if you know me, Feng Xin and Mu Qing will always find a way to be together. There’s just going to be a lot of heavy subject material - war, manipulation, betrayal, sacrifice, death, loss, self-hatred…

I’ve been inspired by so many things I love for this fic - Lord of the Rings, Breath of the Wild, Ghibli. It’s going to be a wild, epic ride (in my completely biased opinion 😂) and I can’t wait to share it with everyone but it will take time to plan everything out - especially since Feng Xin and Mu Qing are both very difficult and stubborn characters.

Pretty sure I’ve decided on a name: Take Me Back to Eden. It’s a Sleep Token song. Each chapter will be named after a Sleep Token song because their music also greatly inspired me for this fic. All their lyrics are so heavy and beautiful and profound - it really got me thinking. And A LOT of their songs are soooo Fengqing coded (Higher, Granite, Chokehold, Give, Take me back to Eden, Rain, The Summoning… ugh they all remind me of Fengqing). If you can’t tell I really like Sleep Token. Evanescence, Within Temptation, and Sleep Token are my favorite music artists. I could write essays about how beautiful, lovely, deep, soul-crushing their music is 🖤🖤🖤

I want this fic to be a love letter to all these things I love, but especially Fengqing. They are going to go through a lot in this fic, but they’ll find each other through the pain and trauma (still working out how they’re going to do it though 😅).

Anyways, there’s my ramble for the day. Stay tuned as I’ll have my next fic up probably in a month or two. I want to finish my Angel/Demon AUs this year and hopefully start my assassins AU 👀. We shall see how it goes and how much time I have. Especially once I find a full time job and have to work 40 hours a week again. Why can’t I write for a living?!?!! 🥲

☆ Twisted Love

1. This book was amazing. The plot twists will blow your brains out.

2. Alex Volkov. That's it. Just him. Like he is just amazing.

3. Pretty words and pretty faces don't equal pretty souls. This line. This. Freaking. Line. It had me crying.

4. Also the way he just walked her home for a year without them talking.....AAAAHHHH just everything in this book was amazing.

5. In book 2, 3 and 4 there relationship just was so pretty even if they were there for like 1 page.

3. The possibility of you is better than the reality of anyone else. This quote people it was just amazing. I was like dayum I need to take two minutes and scream.

4. Overall the plot was actually pretty lit in this book but the one thing I didn't like about this book was how they fucked every two pages literally but they were kinda friends with benefits but I'm a hopeless romantic so when I was expecting a cute angry confession I got an angry sex....

5. I also love how they actually struggle with money lowkey because all the other book the characters were loaded with cash so that was a bit realistic yk

4. Also the way all the other 3 men just made fun of Christian and the scenes where all the characters were together was just really funny.

Overall all the books are amazing. These people live rent free in my head. But the fact that all of them got a happy ending and are successful and shit is like probably the fakest shit ever but then again it's books so eh. But on a real note photographer, queen, lawyer and fashion designer like are ya kidding me??? And the diversity their friend group has like Asian, European, American like wow. I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the smut in the book but then again that's just my personal opinion a lot of other people loved the smut tho so idk. Reincarnation trope! Ahh, love this one. It says it contains mature content, but I don't remember seeing anything—just keep it in mind before you decide to read this one. With miscommunication and pining, the ML really isn't a bad guy; he's just a traumatized eldest child.

Call Me The Devil [ ongoing - currently: 107 ] A plastic surgeon by day and a devil by night, Hyunshin has the power to seduce anyone with his eyes, but somehow, his irresistible temptation does not work on “Lee Na”, who suddenly appeared one day. 

The ML is a devil in this one. I loved it so much. The supporting characters really make this one, though. The little family, all of them together, makes my heart palpitate.

My God Is A Lustful Man [ ongoing - currently: 50 chapters ] Hye-sal, a timid ethics teacher who has lived her whole life without desires, finds that a neighbor who exudes desire and pleasure has moved in next door.

Dionysus is the ML in this, and this Greek mythology manhwa adaption is peak. I love the pining and mythology references. Initially, I found this comic on Webtoon, but I found a better source to read from.

I Can't Wait To Eat You [ ongoing - currently: 59 chapters ] I swore to resent her all my life when I was a kid, so I’m going to stick around to make her life impossible, I’ll make sure to eat her happiness away.

OOO, the ML in this one starts off as a little shit, but he definitely grows on you once he realizes his feelings and becomes the best boyfriend/boss ever.

Extroversion of an Immortal [ ongoing - currently: 55 chapters ] A fairy ‘Cheon Moran’, who killed a woodcutter for stealing her wings and lived like a celebrity while trapped in the human world, was discovered by ‘Sa Jeha’, a detective in charge of a murder case in which she was involved.

This one took a while for me to get attached to because I was constantly getting cliffhangers. I really like what it is so far. I'm heavy into speculating what the angst will become, but so far, the characters are so pretty, and that's my main argument.

Pure Love Operation [ ongoing - currently: 108 chapters ] I saw my boyfriend kissing my best friend. if that wasn’t enough, I was with a guy whose guts I hate from my class, Go Eun-Hyuk.

I'm sure many people have already seen this one, but if you haven't, you should. This was one of the stories that got me back into reading webcomics. The art is beautiful, the plot is gripping, and the romance is literally to die for (because I will never experience Dohwa falling in love with me and I'm so envious of Soo-Ae).

What I Decided To Die For [ completed - currently: 98 chapters ] Cha Gyeol, who met Ji Oh while having all sort of bad thoughts, is completely swoon over by Ji Oh with her dazzling smile. However, the people around Cha Gyeol are somehow dangerous for her to go head over heels with him.

This modern reincarnation romance is so good. I was experiencing turmoil rooting for the ML but it all played out right in the end and I should be so happy for the author LOL

I love the author, instantmiso. She also wrote Where Tangents Meet and Siren's Lament, both are completed and I've read. The pining and Dae's character were so satisfying.

The Mafia Nanny [ ongoing - currently: 45 chapters ] Being an Elite Nanny is simple: protect the charge, obey the principle, and don’t get emotionally attached. Easier said than done when Davina’s first client is a dangerously compelling Venetian underboss who’s determined to get under her skin.

The leads in this one have me BARKING. I love a good mafia romance, and this manhwa adaption has me sat and waiting every week for the update. Davina is a badass, and her Venetian employer is such a good father. Some (his son) might even call him daddy. Hehe

Down To Earth [ ongoing - currently: 203 episodes ] Kade lives his average life alone and undisturbed... until a cute alien girl crashes into his backyard! 

I initially read this one because my friend kept harping me about it. It's a very cute, wholesome romance between a depressed dude and a sweet, gorgeous, lovable alien girl who crashes on Earth.

Of Swamp And Sea [ ongoing - currently: 100 chapters ] When a monster hunt gone wrong sets two strangers on the same path, they discover their relationship may be more than strictly professional.

I'll be honest and say I am not entirely caught up on this one, only because it went on hiatus after I got caught up. The relationship between the FL and ML was a little off to me at first because I really thought the FL was a teenager until it was revealed she was in her twenties. But, overall, the development between them is lovely.

I Love Yoo [ ongoing - currently: 254 episodes ] Dogged by pain and misfortune from the very beginning, Shin-Ae decides she wants nothing to do with people nor anything to do with romance.

Another extremely popular one, which should take first priority if you haven't started yet. A modern romance with modern-day problems, but the anguish that each character individually experiences keeps me hooked. I hope they all work through their issues and become their happiest selves. Also, the dad is a little bitch boy.

Act Like You Love Me [ completed - currently: 150 chapters ] When a mix-up at a temp job has her spending a day as famous actor Doyun Nam’s personal assistant, she takes her anger out on a doll... which turns out to have the magical ability to control him at her every whim.

This one was so, SO good. I really loved the second ML, but of course, the primary ML is still a heartthrob. The FL was such a lucky girl to have two successful hotties after her.

it took me only two days to read fourth wing and now i wanna cry for way too many reasons.

fourth wing spoilers below!! (ONLY the first book, i haven't read iron flame yet, so please don't spoil anything)

first off, i got WAYYY to attached to liam and paid for it dearly. i was literally sitting here "I HAVE ONE SINGULAR CHARACTER I NEED TO LIVE THROUGH THIS BATTLE" because i already obviously knew violet SOMEHOW survived since there is a book two and xaden, because the author is likely too addicted now. but liam??? no plot armor and it made me sad.

secondly, xaden's backstory has me in a chokehold and i wanna write about it so bad but im holding back because i have to read iron flame first to learn what canon is so i can say "fuck canon" knowledgeably. like the 107 scars?? (it is 107, right?) im so sad for him. and his mom and dad?? and the rest of the rebellion-children??? sobbing uncontrollably.

im also interested to see what the other squad members do now that violet has joined the revolution with all the other rebellion children. like, i need my rhiannon (sorry if that spelling is wrong) and i want to meet this mysterious girl she keeps going "on off" with.

oh and DAIN. OH MY GOSH. at first, i liked him. then i hated him because he kept getting in the damn way. and now i officially hate him. like the execution of amber?? when he tried to read her memories?? that was the last straw. when he actually did it before the climax of the book? yeah, buddy, you ain't digging out of that hole. you're like a tamlin now. you ARE tamlin. first love, and way too protective.

also i just love how tairn acts like a dad lmao. andarna is just adorable but terrifying in her power.

also, ngl, but i think i caught most, if not all, of the foreshadowing in the book. like, they start talking about this black dragon? yeah, he's gonna be relevant later. they start talking about a feathertail? yep, important. or the FABLES? that book, as soon as it couldn't be found in the archives, I KNEW. I KNEW. BRO I KNEW

i loved brennan from the beginning also. like, he just sounded so cool and epic and honorable?? i did NOT expect him to be alive but yknow, he was awesome and im very glad to see him alive. i just wanna know how tf he is.
