it's been raining all day here and I've been drawing with 2008 doctor who in the background

#envy me #anyway last night I went to get started making wip pages #but then I ended up changing my blog theme #and then I finally added a background to my icon so you can see it lol (although it's not showing the latest version for some reason?)#and then I browsed for page themes and tried a couple #but I couldn't find one I wanted so I think I'm going to try to do it from scratch #(well not entirely from scratch more like skeletonize a few and then frankenstein them together and build from there)#but then I was like #you know what I'm going to want to put on the page? character portraits #so now I'm doing that lol #I would chastise myself for getting sidetracked but that's the point of a low-stakes creative endeavor #I am just here to make things and have fun

#i’ve been thinking abt that cringe post #i think the latent feelings behind ‘cringe’ are shame and sometimes envy/bitterness #same vibes as when six year olds say ‘those toys are for babies’ if they’ve been shamed for their age by older kids #anyway. i think part of the healing process is realizing that shame puts you at war with yourself bc part of yourself is a social being!#and that part of you wants community and acceptance (maybe love). shame is the absence of acceptance #unlearning shame means learning self-love and gaining the confidence to find your people #jerma #cw jerma #(someone asked me to tag lol)

It's so genius that Inside Out 2 uses Anxiety as an antagonising character that opposes Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Anger without making her an antagonist, or villain. She is trying to protect Riley just like they are, but she is so caught up in her own ways that she doesn't see the bigger picture. And that's exactly what anxiety feels like.

When she realises this, it causes a panic attack (which is also beautifully depicted) and she spirals.

Anxiety is a genius character, and it is so important to me that the other emotions don't attempt to push her out of Headquarters or out of Riley's life but instead find ways of coping with her.

Because Anxiety shouldn't control your life, but she will still be in your life. And it is possible to live with anxiety.
