What is Working?

Personalised fitness programmes: Users are responding favourably to customised exercise regimens and dietary plans, which aid in the achievement of their unique objectives.

Technology Integration: The app's progress monitoring tools and user-friendly layout are raising user motivation and engagement.

Partnerships with gyms: We are reaching a wider audience and giving people more options for their workouts by working together with gyms such as Fit4Less and GoodLife.

What is not working?

Marketing Strategy: To more effectively target our audience and raise brand awareness, we might need to hone our marketing strategy.

User Retention: Although we are drawing in new users, we still have to work on keeping them around for the long haul.

How do you feel the project is coming?

The project is moving along nicely, and our technological integration and individualised approach are receiving excellent reviews. To secure long-term success, we are aware that we must enhance our marketing and user retention tactics.

What are you learning about running a business?

Adaptability: The significance of being adaptable and changing in response to consumer input and market trends.

Strategic Planning: The requirement for a sound company plan that identifies the target market, sets clear objectives, and uses efficient marketing.

Understanding the business's finances, such as pricing, revenue generating, and budgeting, is known as financial management.

What are you learning about yourself?

Resilience: Having a business has made me realise how crucial resilience is when dealing with obstacles and failures.

Leadership: I'm learning how to effectively manage and inspire a team as well as my own leadership style.

Self-Reflection: This trip has been a process of introspection that has helped me recognise my entrepreneurship-related strengths and opportunities for development.

Pride 2021: Paris is Burning

Released in 1990, Jennie Livingston’s Paris is Burning was, for most of the world, the first glimpse of the famous “Ball” scene of New York, a queer social scene predominately featuring African American and Latin American members of the community.

The documentary, which featured no narration and very little dialogue from the interviewer, introduced the world to now-common terms such as “shade” and “realness”, as well as providing a prominent portrait of trans life at the time, particularly for people of colour. 

While facing criticism and controversy from its release for several reasons, Paris is Burning is nonetheless a seminal piece of queer film and remains influential to this day with the creation of shows such as Pose and, more notoriously, Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
