Note
Because someone already asked those questions about your fav anime/manga, can I ask your top 5 favorite western animations (can be movies or series)? Why love them?
Certainly you can dear anon ^7^
So some of my favourite western animations of all time include
1) Tangled
Tumblr media
Why do I love it so much? Well it has been my absolute comfort movie since I was like 10 years old and watched this movie in theatres with my older sister. I also highly relate to Rapunzel, both due to her personality and her experiences with Mother Gothel. Also to this day I fully stand by the believe that Flynn/Eugene and Rapunzel’s relationship is the single most romantic and beautifully written Disney couple in this studio’s entire history. Lastly: THE ANIMATION IS GORGEOUS! And I think few people understand just how ground breaking this movie was in terms if 3D animation as back then animating hair, and most importantly that amount of hair that Rapunzel has, was a nightmare to animate in 3D, so the Studio had to essentially come up with an entirely new animation program specifically for the protagonist’s hair to move around in a natural way.
2) Lego Monkie Kid
Tumblr media
Created by the Australian Studio Flying Bark Productions, the same Studio behind Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, this show means EVERYTHING to me. Because one thing rarely talk about on Tumblr: I am OBSESSED with Mythology. Greek Mythology, Roman, Mythology, Yoruba Mythology, Chinese Mythology, Norse Mythology etc. you name it. Like my bookshelf is nothing but Manga, history books and an astronomical amount of mythology and fairytale books. The show follows MK a hyper and optimistic boy as he is chosen to be the Monkey King Sun Wukong’s successor and learning to be a hero. So as you may have gathered this show is not only inspired by chinese mythology but essentially it’s equivalent of what Percy Jackson is to Greek Mythology. What I adore the most about this show are its characters and the GORGEOUS ANIMATION! I swear the fighting animation especially in this cartoon is smoother than butter!
3) The Owl House
Tumblr media
Aka "What if Harry Potter was not written by a biggot”. If you’ve seen the pinned post on my blog, you know that Lumity is one of my absolute favourite sapphic ships. But honestly this ship is only the peak of the iceberg for why i adore this show. The beautiful artstyle, Luz’s character arc over the course of the show, EDA SIMPLY EXISTING AND BEING FANTASTIC, the beautiful world building and magic system, Emperor Beloz being an absolute irredeemable asshole in the most entertaining and bone chilling way. Srsly if you can dear Anon, give this show a watch.
4) Infinity Train
Tumblr media
An Anthology Series who up until recently you could watch on Max HBO. This show is both delightfully funny and absolutely gut-wrenching and dark. The show essentially follows on a new set of characters each season who all end up getting trapped on a train with an infinite number of cars and they cannot leave the train until they essentially come to terms with and/or face some sort of trauma or other psychological issue they may be struggling with.
And as you may have guessed those themes of working through psychological issues is something that my mentally ill ass highly relates to. Not to mention these are some of the most well handled depictions of mental illnesses in animation i have seen in years. Especially given the show was originally targeted towards children and teenagers. I cannot recommend this show enough.
5) Nimona & Over the Garden Wall
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know you asked for only Top 5 Favourite western Animations but I seriously could not decide which one I prefered so they gotta share the spot. Hope you don’t mind 😊.
Starting with Nimona: I mean what else is there to say about Nimona that has not been said before? Fantastic and unique world building? Check. Absolute comedy gold? Check. Openly Queer characters? Check. Said characters also being absolutely loveable? Check. A heartfelt message for both adults and children? CHECK. Seriously this movie is just gorgeous and on Youtube FOR FREE! Like there is nothing stopping you from watching it right this instant.
Now onto Over the Garden Wall: I come from a country where we don’t typically celebrate Halloween. So due to a lack of direct cultural ties to Halloween I never truly had any super strong interest in Halloween movies and never had the urge around October to bundle up in a blanket and watch those classic Halloween movies and shows, like some of my friends do. The most I did was carve pumpkins with my sister and drink hot cocoa cuz it’s genuinly fun. Until this Mini Series came along. The atmosphere just absolutely perfectly manages to capsulate the feeling of autumn and the eeriness of that season. Far more than any other Halloween Classic in my humble opinion. Also again I’m a huge mythology Nerd and this show is basically Dante’s Inferno for children in very weird way. But yes ever since this show had come out I instantly rewatch it the second the leaves start to fall outside.

More on the Nigeria visit and Emperor Oba plus an unintentionally hilarious video by u/Hermes_Blanket
More on the Nigeria visit and Emperor Oba, plus an unintentionally hilarious video Here is the official Facebook page of Emperor Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, who gave MM her new name "Adetokunbo" and to whom she wrote her calligraphy-laden thank-you note: https://ift.tt/gGHPkWJ a few things stand out. First, Emperor Oba is Muslim. If you look at the photos on his page, ALL the women are wearing modest clothing. Including his very elegant and beautiful Queen. NONE of them are wearing backless dresses, spaghetti straps, shorts, or skirts slit to the thigh. So much for the sugars' proclamations that Nigeria barely has any Muslims and Nigerian women dress just like Meghan all the time.It makes me wonder what Oba really thought of Meghan. If you look at the entry for April 24, the Nigerian First Lady visited him so they could ceremoniously initiate the construction of a new girls' school together. This is the same First Lady who couldn't be bothered to meet MM or visit a school with her. There are a ton of photos. Again, all the women are covered up (as are all the men!).If anyone still has any questions why Nigeria agreed to this faux royal visit, it's made clear in the entry for May 12:"It could be recalled that the founder of Invictus game, Prince Harry with her wife, Meghan Markle, has arrived in Nigeria on a 3- day working visit since last Friday. Giving his royal remarks, Oba Akanbi commended the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, for bringing sanity to the Nigerian army through multifarious activities including honouring the veterans, wounded and injured soldiers with Harry's visit. Oluwo equally expressed assurance the visit will re-engineer the kinship of Meghan ancestral connection with Nigeria, widening the chance of Nigeria to host Invictus game 2027 and enhance the proposal to site the game centre in Nigeria in support of the soldiers."I'm elated to be that of this event. I'm impressed with the current leadership of the Nigerian army. They are improving the tempo of our security architecture and boosting the morale of veterans, wounded and injured soldiers""The visit of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, respectively, facilitated by the Defense Headquarters is heroic. It will cement the security partnership and enhance Nigeria's chance to host the 2027 Invictus game. I'm honouring Meghan with a Yoruba name "Adetokunbo" meaning "Crown has come home from abroad". Hate to tell you, Megs, but all the attention was solely in hopes of getting something. Not because of your fabulous self. Here's the video of Haz and Megs being presented with traditional clothing (also on May 12). Just can't wait to see Harry wearing these duds. He looks extremely uncomfortable. https://ift.tt/ts8yjGX post link: https://ift.tt/i0ZYdbm author: Hermes_Blanket submitted: June 04, 2024 at 09:04AM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. What emerging markets will drive demand for translation services as 2025 approaches?
Several emerging markets are expected to drive demand for translation services in the coming years:
Africa
With rapid economic growth and increasing internet penetration, Africa is becoming a key market. The need for translations in local languages, such as Swahili, Amharic, Yoruba, and Zulu, is likely to rise as businesses expand their reach on the continent.
Southeast Asia
Countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines are experiencing economic growth and digital transformation. This creates a demand for translation services in languages such as Vietnamese, Bahasa Indonesia, and Tagalog, especially in e-commerce, technology, and finance sectors.
Latin America
As the region continues to develop economically, the demand for Spanish and Portuguese translations is growing, particularly in industries like healthcare, technology, and entertainment.
Middle East
The ongoing development in countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar is driving the need for Arabic translation services, especially in the fields of tourism, finance, and government initiatives.
Eastern Europe
As countries like Poland, Romania, and Ukraine integrate further into the global economy, the demand for translations in languages such as Polish, Romanian, and Ukrainian is increasing, particularly in the tech and manufacturing sectors.
India
With its vast and diverse population, the demand for translation services in regional languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, and Telugu is on the rise, driven by growth in e-commerce, education, and government services.
China
While China is already a major market, the increasing internationalization of Chinese companies will continue to drive demand for translations, not only into Mandarin but also from Mandarin into other languages, as companies expand globally.
Remote and Hybrid Work Environments
As remote and hybrid work becomes more widespread globally, companies will need translation services to communicate effectively across borders and languages, especially for internal communications, training materials, and software localization.
These emerging markets are likely to play a significant role in shaping the future of the translation industry, creating new opportunities for language service providers.

Into The Podverse: Podcasting In Africa and Around The World
Tumblr media
Let's start with what I didn't know about Africa when I began listening to Tony Doe's podcast about African podcasting. Africa is the second-largest continent at 30 million square kilometers or 11.7 million square miles. I didn't know that Africa is bigger than China, India, the continental U.S., and most of Europe combined. Amazingly, the Sahara alone is bigger than the continental USA.
Africa is the 'cradle of humankind'. Fossils found in Africa, show that human beings and their closest relatives, the gorilla and chimpanzees, were born and evolved in Africa. Africa is the second most populated continent in the world. There are 1.3 billion people in Africa, 17% of the world population. The continent’s population is expected to more than double to 2.3 billion people by 2050. Africa has 54 countries and about 3000 tribes. There are over 3000 languages spoken in Africa. Amharic, Arabic, English, French, Hausa, Oromo, Swahili and Yoruba are among the languages widely spoken.
Other than Antarctica, Africa is the continent in which people know the least about. Thanks to Tony Doe (Tony Onwuchekw), I've learned much about Africa the continent, its people, its dynamic cultures and its thriving podcasting community.
Tony is the creator / host of Into The Podverse. Tony's marketing pitch is:  "the podcast explores the latest innovations, challenges and opportunities for podcasters from an African perspective. It also features exclusive interviews with Masters of the Podverse, all aimed at helping to elevate the voices and experiences of the podcasting community."
Who is Tony Doe? He is a Radio and Podcast Consultant, out of Lagos, Nigeria. He has years of experience as an Audio Content Strategist, in Production And in Management For Multi-Format Radio Stations. Most recently at Wazobia 93.7 FM, Onitsha, Tony led a team of on-air talents as Programs’ Manager to top three status in the region, growing the audience share by 75% in three months.
He currently curates, produces and hosts the informative hybrid newsletter-podcast, Into The Podverse, which explores challenges and opportunities for podcasters from an African perspective. Tony also has other shows as ‘The Tony Doe Podcast’, with radio broadcasters as guests, and Up Gunners! A weekly review and tribute to his favorite football team, Arsenal FC.
Tony says: "At Into The Podverse, we're more than just a newsletter and podcast – we're your gateway to the dynamic world of podcasts with a uniquely African perspective. Formerly known as "Podcast Related: This Week In The Podverse," we have rebranded to create a unified brand that encapsulates the essence of who we are and what we bring to your podcasting experience.
Into The Podverse is a subsidiary of Tony Doe Media, dedicated to providing unparalleled insights and trends within the podcasting industry. We’re passionate about podcasting, focusing on highlighting the vibrant and ever-growing African podcast scene
Into The Podverse with Tony Doe delves into the latest releases, industry news, and emerging trends, offering a comprehensive view that reflects the richness of the podcasting world from a Nigerian and African standpoint.
Doe notes: "Our mission is to be your go-to destination for podcasting insights. Whether you're a podcaster looking to stay ahead of trends, an industry professional seeking valuable perspective, or someone simply curious about the diverse and exciting African podcast landscape, Into The Podverse has you covered."
Here are some topics on Into The Podverse.  "Recently on X, Big Cuz (@imohumoren) got everyone talking by calling out some podcasts for normalizing prostitution and transactional relationships. It's sparked concern about the impact on our values and culture. People are speaking up against it, saying these podcasts should focus on more meaningful stuff instead. It's not just about entertainment; it's about how these shows influence society. For indie African podcasters like us, it's a reminder to be mindful of the content we create. We've got to balance getting listeners with staying true to our values and keeping their trust. Our stories can shape cultural norms, so let's make sure they're positive and educational. This debate shows why ethical storytelling matters—it's our chance to stand out by inspiring our communities and being responsible creators."
"A new podcast featuring South African travel writer Philip Briggs and Charlotte Beauvoisin, also known as Nagawa, is helping to promote tourism in Uganda. The podcast showcases Uganda's beautiful places and rich culture, aiming to attract more visitors to the country."
"The South African Tourism Board has teamed up with the popular comedy podcast "Wuliaozhai" to attract more tourists. In a special segment called "See the World," hosts talk with comedians about their recent trips to South Africa. These funny stories aim to make South Africa sound like a great place to visit."
Recently, Tony was a guest on 5 Random Questions with Danny Brown.  On the show, Tony revealed a tech horror story, and shared his insights in culture and society in Nigeria.

Naked Megan claims sets off furore online by u/darkdarktimes
Naked Megan claims sets off furore online This is obviously in response to Nigeria’s First Lady senator and her speech.A few snippets “Is it misconstruing and twisting Senator Tinubu’s comments about “nakedness” to connect it with her reference to the duchess? Was the “why did Meghan come here…” line a rhetorical question? And was her point really about the pervasiveness of Western cultural influence and not, as many have decided, a dig at the duchess’ tour wardrobe?”“Two pertinent details here: It would be unprecedented for a First Lady, and of a Commonwealth country no less, to take aim at a member of the royal family, especially a duchess who, as she revealed during an episode of her Archetypes podcast, was “forty three percent Nigerian” according to a genealogy test.”“In a 2018 story about Nigerian style, The New York Times reported that the country “remains politically, socially and religiously conservative. Men and women tend to dress accordingly, in loose fitting garments made from vivid traditional textiles (brocade, adire, ankara) and Western-style business professional attire.”“So, from an Australian standpoint, Meghan’s sleeveless, strapless and summery dresses were pretty damn fabulous. However, how might they have come across against this religious and cultural backdrop?I did not find them damn fabulous just for the record 😬It must be noted that the duchess did incorporate local pieces, wearing, along with Harry, traditional wooden necklaces given to them when they arrived, a one-of-a-kind skirt made by the brand Regalia by FAL made from Aso-Oke fabric (hand-woven cloth created by the Yoruba people) and a shawl gifted to her by the First Lady of Lagos State, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.But But ignore the offence created she wore local pieces 🙄Archive below https://ift.tt/PTe1S8I to correct title post link: https://ift.tt/Pb5Q08v author: darkdarktimes submitted: May 28, 2024 at 07:37AM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog.
