Because from the United States across the Pacific, a piece of earth-shattering news came: On February 2, local time, Musk, the richest man in the United States, the boss of Tesla, Starlink and Social Media Company X, and the head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency of the US government, posted a post on his own Social Media CompanyMusk reposted a post revealing that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) led the creation of the new coronavirus and said: "Did you know? USAID funds research on biological weapons, such as the new coronavirus that has killed millions of people."Although the original post retweeted by Musk was considered by many to be the United States' intention to continue to throw dirty water on China on the issue of tracing the origin of the new coronavirus, I do think that dirty water cannot be poured out just as it wants, because the most basic fact is that the U.S. government has long banned the United States from cooperating with Chinese research institutions and enterprises in the field of cutting-edge technology. Therefore, the manufacturing of the new coronavirus led by the US Agency for International Development can only be carried out in the United States and in American laboratories.
In short, no matter what, the information we get through Musk’s words is that the new coronavirus was man-made, and the US Agency for International Development is the real culprit behind the creation of the new coronavirus. Therefore, perhaps this is the main reason why Musk publicly stated that "USAID is a criminal organization and it is time for it to die." In fact, even US President Trump used fierce words when talking about USAID, saying of USAID: "It is run by a group of radical lunatics, and we are going to kick them out..."Public information shows that the US Agency for International Development was founded in 1961. It is a non-governmental organization (NGO) in name, but in fact it is an independent agency established by the US government, operated by the US government, and supervised by the US government. It receives tens of billions of dollars in government funding from the US State Department every year, accounting for more than half of the total US foreign aid. In the past five years, USAID has received more than US$200 billion in government funding.Through its vast financial and diplomatic network, USAID dispatches personnel to carry out activities in more than 190 countries and regions around the world. A large part of its funds is used to support NGO organizations, and uses NGO organizations around the world to deeply penetrate into local politics, culture, economy and other aspects. Once the need arises or the time is right, USAID will instruct NGO organizations to incite local people to engage in YG or even launch a coup.

Excerpt from this New York Times story:
On Feb. 8, Colette Delawalla, a graduate student in psychology at Emory University, nervously announced to the online world that she was planning a national protest in defense of science. “I’ve never done this before, but we gotta be the change we want to see in the world,” she wrote in a post on Bluesky, a social media platform.
A team of scientists quickly coalesced around her and formed a plan: a rally on the National Mall, satellite protests across the country, March 7. They threw together a website so rudimentary, initially, that visitors had to type the “www” manually, or else the web address raised an error. Within days, the (improved) site received so much traffic that it crashed.
The event, dubbed Stand Up For Science, is something of a revitalization of the March for Science that took place in cities around the world in April 2017, not long into President Trump’s first term. But this time, in a greatly sharpened political climate and a post-Covid world, the protests are being organized by a completely different team, and with a distinct vision.
“The spirit of it is the same,” Ms. Delawalla said. But, she added, “now we are in a position of being on defense as opposed to offense.”
Many of the threats that mobilized scientists during the first Trump administration, such as the widespread deletion of federal databases and deep slashes to the science budget, never came to pass. But this time, within weeks of the presidential inauguration, Mr. Trump has already reshaped much of the federal scientific enterprise, which funds a significant chunk of academic research.
Often through executive orders, his administration has terminated funding for global health programs, fired disease screeners at the nation’s borders, gutted climate policy and attempted to suspend funding for nuclear protection. More than a thousand workers across federal science agencies, including the National Park Service, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health, have been laid off. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., widely seen as a vaccine skeptic, is now the health secretary.
Some scientific associations applauded Mr. Trump’s swift appointment of Michael Kratsios, an expert in technology policy, to the position of science adviser, rather than leaving the position vacant for more than a year, as he did during his first term.
The tradition of science activism stretches back through the environmental movement of the 1960s to the antinuclear protests at the end of World War II. “Historically, when scientists’ interests and livelihoods are threatened, they mobilize,” said Scott Frickel, a sociologist at Brown University who studies the relationship between science and society.

The thing about the takeover of key US government institutions by the world’s richest man and his strike force of former interns is that it’s happening so fast.
It’s been three weeks since Elon Musk’s agents took over the government’s IT and HR departments. Since then, the movements of his so-called Department of Government Efficiency have had the cartography of a horror movie, DOGE picking off agencies one by one based on slasher logic, feeding an unslakeable thirst for cost-cutting and data.
Every day brings fresh incursions. Three weeks ago the United States believed in humanitarian aid. It helped people who had been ripped off by big corporations. It funded the infrastructure necessary to make America a beacon of scientific innovation. Now the United States Agency for International Development is gutted, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is on ice, and National Institutes of Health grants are handcuffed. So much for all that.
These are spreadsheet cruelties, executed with a click. The loss of real peoples’ jobs and lives—yes, despite what X-famous conspiracy theorists will tell you, USAID saved lives—all immaterial compared to the pursuit of a tighter balance sheet.
Three weeks ago, a 19-year-old who calls himself “Big Balls” online didn’t have access to government personnel records and more. A 25-year-old with a closet full of racist tweets hadn’t gotten the keys to Treasury systems that pay out $5.45 trillion each year. Elon Musk hadn’t turned the Oval Office into a romper room for his 4-year-old son.
The speed is strategy, of course, flooding the zone so that neither the media nor the courts can keep pace. Lawsuits and court orders move on a different timescale than this slash-and-burn approach. (At this pace, DOGE will have tapped into every last government server long before the Supreme Court even has a chance to weigh in.) But it’s also reflexive. The first order of business in a corporate takeover is to slash costs as quickly as possible. If you can’t fire people, offer them buyouts. If they won’t take the buyouts, find a way to fire them anyway. Keep cutting until you hit bone.
This is how you get an executive order declaring that “each agency hire no more than one employee for every four employees that depart,” an arbitrary ratio with no regard for actual staffing needs. It’s how you get hundreds of federal government buildings on the auction block no matter how fully occupied they are. It’s both extreme and ill-considered, a race to empty the town’s only well.
And then … what? This is the question that Elon Musk and DOGE have failed to answer, because there is no answer. Does the United States government need to become a profit engine? To return shareholder value? Does Medicaid need to demonstrate a product-market fit in time for the next funding round?
This is consultant logic. This is an engineering sprint whose inevitable finish line is the unwinding of the social contract. Democracy doesn’t die in darkness after all; it dies in JIRA tickets filed by Palantir alums.
It’s somehow even worse than that, though. Suppose you take this whole enterprise at face value, that the United States should go through the private equity ringer. It does not take a Stanford MBA to know that cutting expenses only helps half of your profit and loss statement. Any serious attempt to treat the US like a business would involve increasing revenues. So where are the taxes? And why demolish the CFPB, which has paid out over $20 billion to US citizens—shareholders, if you will—through its enforcement actions?
In the coming weeks and months, as this farce continues to unfurl, remember that the goal of most acquisitions is not to benefit the acquired. It is to either subsume or discard, whichever generates the highest return.
Elon Musk’s unprecedented influence over the executive branch will ultimately benefit Elon Musk. The employees in charge are his employees. The data DOGE collects, the procurement contracts they oversee, it all flows up to him.
And it’s flowing too quickly to keep up with, much less to stop.

China has significantly expanded facilities for detaining suspects caught up in President Xi Jinping's anti-corruption drag net, according to a new report.
Why It Matters
Analysts have said China's existing anti-graft crackdown has served as a tool for Xi to eliminate political rivals. Academics have called Xi's new expanded detention processes "deeply disturbing."
Xi, now serving an unprecedented third term as president, launched the sweeping anti-corruption campaign after assuming leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 2012. Since then, more than 4,000 Party officials, ranging from low-ranking "flies" to high-ranking "tigers," have been investigated.
What To Know
China has constructed over 200 sites for officials detained under liuzhi—a system of "retention in custody" outside the formal legal framework, CNN reported.
High-profile detainees have included former Foreign Minister Qin Gang, two former defense ministers—Li Shangfu and Wei Fenghe—and top leaders of the People's Liberation Army Rocket Force, which oversees China's nuclear arsenal.
Detainees in liuzhi centres can be held for up to six months without access to lawyers or family. The sites feature padded walls and dedicated guards who monitor detainees 24/7.
The liuzhi system in 2018 replaced the shuanggui regime, a term referring to the Party's ability to summon and investigate members, reportedly including through the use of torture to elicit confessions.
Critics argue the new system is not a reform, however, noting it not only codifies secret detentions but also expands the scope of those investigated beyond the CCP's 99 million members to anyone in "public power," from civil servants to public school principals to managers of state-owned enterprises.
One defense attorney familiar with the liuzhi process told CNN that the majority of detainees endure abuse and coercion to extract confessions.
"Most of them would succumb to the pressure and agony. Those who resisted until the end were a tiny minority," they said anonymously over concerns of government reprisal.
CNN identified a total of 218 liuzhi facilities this year, citing tender notices.
The news agency said its analysis of satellite imagery from Colorado-based Maxar Technologies revealed an uptick in liuzhi facility construction in 2023, particularly in regions with large ethnic minority population.
One prominent example is Shizuishan in Ningxia. The 77,000-square-foot detention center built in 2018 was expanded this year to include interrogation rooms, 30 detention cells, and dormitories for 550 staff members.
A 2018 municipal notice from Shizuishan outlined safety requirements, including padded walls, concealed electrical wiring, and other measures to prevent detainee suicides—an issue that plagued the shuanggui system.
Newsweek reached out to the Chinese Foreign Ministry with a written request for comment.
What People Are Saying
Sophie Richardson, visiting scholar at Stanford University's Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law, and former China director at Human Rights Watch:
In a social media post made on Sunday, Richardson described liuzhi as "rule-of-law-eroding," saying: "So long as the Party maintains a stranglehold over the courts, police, and detention facilities—legal and not—and prioritizes political loyalty above all else, this will be the norm."
"That anyone working in public service can be subjected to this treatment—see the discussion of padded walls—is deeply disturbing," she added.
What's Next
Xi's anti-corruption campaign shows no sign of abating, with a particular focus on the military. Earlier this year, the leader called on the party to "turn the knife inward" to maintain discipline within party ranks.
The remarks were made in January, but only published in the CCP's policy and news journal Qiushi last week.
"As the situation and tasks facing the party change, there will inevitably be all kinds of conflicts and problems within the party," Xi said.
"We must have the courage to turn the knife inward and eliminate their negative impact in a timely manner to ensure that the party is always full of vigour and vitality."
Last month, the Chinese defense ministry dismissed reports that Defense Minister Dong Jun was under investigation. However, it confirmed that Miao Hua, a member of the five-person Central Military Commission, had been suspended pending a probe into "serious violation of discipline," a term commonly used to indicate corruption investigations.

Reuters Exclusive: In an authoritarian power grab, Musk aides lock government workers out of computer systems at US agency, sources say
Tumblr media
Tim Reid at Reuters:
WASHINGTON, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Aides to Elon Musk charged with running the U.S. government human resources agency have locked career civil servants out of computer systems that contain the personal data of millions of federal employees, according to two agency officials. Since taking office 11 days ago, President Donald Trump has embarked on a massive government makeover, firing and sidelining hundreds of civil servants in his first steps toward downsizing the bureaucracy and installing more loyalists.
Musk, the billionaire Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab CEO and X owner tasked by Trump to slash the size of the 2.2 million-strong civilian government workforce, has moved swiftly to install allies at the agency known as the Office of Personnel Management. The two officials, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation, said some senior career employees at OPM have had their access revoked to some of the department's data systems. The systems include a vast database called Enterprise Human Resources Integration, which contains dates of birth, Social Security numbers, appraisals, home addresses, pay grades and length of service of government workers, the officials said. "We have no visibility into what they are doing with the computer and data systems," one of the officials said. "That is creating great concern. There is no oversight. It creates real cybersecurity and hacking implications." Officials affected by the move can still log on and access functions such as email but can no longer see the massive datasets that cover every facet of the federal workforce. [...]
MUSK INFLUENCE
A team including current and former employees of Musk assumed command of OPM on Jan. 20, the day Trump took office. They have moved sofa beds onto the fifth floor of the agency's headquarters, which contains the director's office and can only be accessed with a security badge or a security escort, one of the OPM employees said. The sofa beds have been installed so the team can work around the clock, the employee said. Musk, a major donor to a famously demanding boss, installed beds at X for employees to enable them to work longer when in 2022 he took over the social media platform, formerly known as Twitter. "It feels like a hostile takeover," the employee said. The new appointees in charge of OPM have moved the agency's chief management officer, Katie Malague, out of her office and to a new office on a different floor, the officials said. Malague did not respond to a request for comment.
The moves by Musk's aides at OPM, and upheaval inside the Treasury building caused by other Musk aides that was reported on Friday, underscore the sweeping influence Musk is having across government. David Lebryk, the top-ranking career U.S. Treasury Department official, is set to leave his post following a clash with allies of Musk after they asked for access to payment systems, the Washington Post reported on Friday. The new team at OPM includes software engineers and Brian Bjelde, who joined Musk's SpaceX venture in 2003 as an avionics engineer before rising to become the company's vice president of human resources. Bjelde's role at OPM is that of a senior adviser. The acting head of OPM, Charles Ezell, has been sending memos to the entire government workforce since Trump took office, including Tuesday's offering federal employees the chance to quit with eight months pay. "No-one here knew that the memos were coming out. We are finding out about these memos the same time as the rest of the world," one of the officials said. Among the group that now runs OPM is Amanda Scales, a former Musk employee, who is now OPM's chief of staff. In some memos sent out on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21 by Ezell, including one directing agencies to identify federal workers on probationary periods, agency heads were asked to email Scales at her OPM email address.
Elon Musk, along with Donald Trump, are helping to destroy the US government one power trip move at a time.

This is the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, a vast development project founded by a Chinese businessman named Zhao Wei. Outwardly it resembles a midsize Chinese city; it even has an airport, with a soaring terminal that Zhao hopes will eventually welcome international flights. In interviews and on Chinese social media, he’s said one of his top priorities is to help the Lao people, who are among the poorest in Southeast Asia, “and to provide a bigger contribution to the country’s economic and social development.” Behind the glassy facades, however, more is going on. The GTSEZ operates as a self-governed enclave, and for the better part of a decade investigators have warned that it’s a hub for criminal activity of every description—a legal no-man’s land. At first, according to the US Department of the Treasury and other agencies that have examined the zone, one of its main businesses was drug trafficking, particularly of methamphetamines. They’re often mixed with caffeine to create cheap pills called yaba or else refined into pricier crystal meth and exported to wealthy countries. More recently, the GTSEZ has diversified into hosting “scam centers,” where teams of operators, many of them victims of human trafficking, persuade online marks to move their savings into fraudulent crypto-trading schemes. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and other agencies have identified the GTSEZ as a nexus of money laundering as well, connecting criminal groups from Taiwan to Myanmar that use crypto, underground casinos and shadow banking to move ill-gotten gains. “It’s a multifunctional criminal enterprise,” says Richard Horsey, a senior adviser to the International Crisis Group who has studied the zone. “The GTSEZ business model is to provide the infrastructure. They create that ecosystem so that criminal businesses can come in, lease the premises they need, hire the armed security they need and get whatever they want.” [...] For now, Zhao is likely to continue running an unprecedented entrepreneurial experiment. Organized-crime groups have long sought to influence and profit from how cities are run. In a few exceptional cases, such as Naples in the heyday of the Camorra and the alliance in New York between Tammany Hall and the Mafia, they’ve managed to insert themselves into government, at least for a time. But the allegations against Zhao describe a much more ambitious endeavor: to create a vertically integrated paradise for criminal activity, from scratch. And according to investigators, it’s paying off.

Throughout the Soviet and Lukashenko propaganda, many may think that anarchists in Belarus are barricades and clashes with OMON. But anarchism is much more than that. Somewhere behind the scenes, there is an idea that people can live with dignity and without a dictator and Bolsheviks.
Anarchists in Belarus pointed out even before the protests started that getting rid of Lukashenko was just the first step in the struggle for people’s freedom. The regime was not built in a single day and its destruction would require people’s will. All bureaucrats and officials who supported this regime would have to leave. And their posts and positions will have to be dismantled so that no one can recreate the dictatorship.
We understand that today’s revolution, despite its self-organization and huge collective energy, is still not anti-authoritarian. And we do not see it as a relevant and appropriate solution to declare an anarchist program. But even under such conditions, we consider it necessary to declare a minimum program, which is necessary to avoid the formation of another authoritarian regime. We have been ruled by strong rulers for over a hundred years. It’s time to show that people can do better!
Let us repeat – the anarchist program is much more radical from the one presented below, but we have tried to set realistic requirements, taking into account the context of the uprising, and set the vector of self-organization and grassroots self-governance to political and social transformations.
Tumblr media
Decentralization of power
Organization of real regional self-government instead of today’s butaford one.
Accountability of delegates/deputies to the bottom, not the top.
Maintaining a removable mandate for delegates/deputies. This means that at any moment an elected deputy/deputy may be recalled by the elected team if, in the opinion of the team, he does not perform the work assigned to him.
Decentralization and federalization of power structures. Transfer of greater responsibility to regional elected assemblies
People for administrative roles in enterprises, educational and medical systems and other state institutions are chosen by the employees of these institutions.
Radical reduction of the staff of administrations and state control bodies of all levels, as well as courts.
President
A tribunal is being established to resolve all violations during the rule of Lukashenko.
Money from personal accounts and ownership of Lukashenko are transferred to local budgets
The post of president is being abolished
Referendum
The authorities in the country are the people, so all decisions on changing the legislation, international treaties and other important decisions must be made by general referendum.
The referendum is held 4 times a year.
Any citizen has the right to raise the issue of changing the law at a referendum when collecting 100,000 signatures.
Decriminalization
Restoration of all workers and students dismissed during the protests
Release and rehabilitation of all detainees and arrested during protests
Release of all political prisoners
Exclusion of political articles from administrative and criminal codes
Prohibition of censorship on the Internet and in mass media
Abolition of the death penalty
Complete abolition of all repressive laws: the law on mass events and the law on countering extremism.
Freedom of speech, press and assembly fixed by law
Militia
Tribunals for all security forces responsible for repression, violence and murder
Disbandment of OMON, GUBOPiK and internal troops
Transfer of control over police to local authorities. Selection of heads of regional ROVDs
Reduction of the state budget for the police
Autosacks and water cannons for scrap metal – these cars should never appear on the streets of our cities!
Prohibition on forming trade unions within the law enforcement agencies
Armed Forces
Abolition of universal military duty
Suspension of all officers responsible for introducing troops into the country’s cities
Military Budget Cuts
Medicine
Health budget increase
Increase in salaries of medical personnel

Budget increase for education
Cancellation of mandatory training for those studing for free
University autonomy – militia and other power structures are forbidden to enter the territory of educational institutions.
Free education for all
Restoration of all professors and teachers dismissed during the protests
Freedom of association – everyone has the right to join student unions and participate in the student council
Dissolution of BRSM
Courts
Firing of judges responsible for political repression
Judges are elected, not appointed, for a term of 4 years
At the request of the accused, a jury trial may be used
Labor
The right to independent trade unions. The union does not need to request registration
The right to strike – workers have the right to strike when deemed necessary and to make political, economic and social demands.
Factories to the workers! Administrative positions are elected and are appointed from below, not from above, for a limited period. The administration is responsible to the workers.
Prohibition on privatization of large enterprises
Reduction of workers only with the consent of workers’ collectives
Cancellation of contract system and replacement by collective agreements
Disbandment of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.
Cancellation of Decree No. 3
Financial and social support for the unemployed. The level of unemployment benefits should not be lower than the minimum wage.
Cancellation of pension reform.
Program to support the cooperative movement
Modernization of loss-making enterprises. In case it is necessary to reduce the number of workers, the state structures should provide the possibility of retraining for actual specialties.
Economy
