I love this art. It's entirely how I imagine Jurai when she's in her third year of Duel Academia/s4 of Ennead GX.

What are your current HCs (that you can talk about) for Jurai and GX?

Yuki Jurai, will be a powerful Duelist and Mage. However, as of the current moment in time, she's only about 6 years old and hasn't grown the strength to harness her full strength, or had any training.

She looks up to Mutou Yugi, the Queen of Games, who takes an interest in her after meeting her just after the Battle City finals, when Hanaq, the dark wrath of Ishizu Ishtar given life, defeated Kaiba Seto by kidnapping and using his brother against him, and stole the souls of everyone in the theme park who wasn't protected from the Shadows.

Yubel protected Jurai, who then met up with Yugi and got her number. The Queen of Games protected Jurai by sending her to V.I.P. Box One, where she met up with the Kobayashi triplets, whose older sister was the reincarnation of Kisara and whose dragonic form protected the children until the situation was resolved and she could return to her parents.

Jurai will meet up with Yugi again before she leaves the island and again after, but I won't give details here other than to say that Yugi gives Jurai permission to stay in contact.

During his recovery from the incident on the island, Kaiba will launch his competition to 'teach aliens to duel' and Jurai will take part. She will design cards that get sent to space. However, because Yubel is jealous of Yugi's mentoring of Jurai, she destroys Jurai's phone in a fit of rage, cutting her ties to Yugi and accidently hurting Jurai, leaving her unconscious.

While she's out cold, Jurai's parents take Yubel's card and sends it with the other cards, to protect their daughter, and when Jurai wakes up, she's concerned but believes her parents when they say it's for the best. That removes the danger from the household, but after a couple of months, Jurai starts having nightmares that can't be calmed down.

However, due to a later incident in Ennead, magic isn't exactly a secret, just ignored by those who choose not to believe, so instead of taking Jurai for the brain surgery that her parents do in canon, her parents instead show up on Yugi's doorstep and ask her if she can help.

Yugi, who at the time is a student studying Game Design in Tokyo, agrees to teach Jurai and when Jurai is allowed to apply Yugi's teachings, she doesn't get nightmares, but Jurai's parents don't like magic at all and don't want it in the house. So they don't always allow it and the severity of the nightmares scare them until they drop Jurai on Yugi's doorstep for good.

And Yugi takes Jurai in as her daughter.

Jurai gets raised, from age 8 to age 14 by Yugi, her husband and the family she's built around her, with her mother, aunts and uncles teaching her a lot.

The day she goes for the Duel Academy test is the first day she calls Yugi 'Okaasan' or Mother.

When she goes to Duel Academy, it's under the name Yuki Jurai, not because she's embarrassed to be a Mutou, but because she both doesn't want to embarrass her mother by being a failure and an Osiris Red, and because being known as a Mutou will make making friends hard.

There she meets Marufuji Shoko, the little sister of Marufuji Ryu, the Kaiser of Duel Academy and makes friends, as well as earning the respect of others and when the Shadow Rider/Seven Star Assassins start throwing magic around she steps up.

Say for Jurai's adoption, is hers Shinken or Kangoken? (I am honestly hoping for Shinken) Reading Jou's adoption process and the different kinds of adoption process got me thinking 🤔

Jou is probably going to be a good influence for her regardless if he ended up dad or uncle

Jurai's parents came to Yugi, offering Shinken. They couldn't deal with Jurai's nightmares any more and if Yugi didn't take Jurai, they were going to go the medical route that they went in canon to sort it out.

Of course Yugi took her on.

Jou joint-adopted her as his daughter after getting to know her, and Yugi granted him partial Shinken, so they're both Jurai's legal guardians. Even if he wasn't though, Jurai would be able to go to him any time for anything within reason.

And sometimes outside of reason.

He's the one Jurai goes to when Yugi is busy with the twins later on and he always ensures that Jurai feels as loved as the babies do and helps Yugi out with the twins so she can get mother-daughter time with Jurai too.

There's three girls in Jurai's dorm in Osiris Red in S1, yes, these are Judai's canon roommates, but genderbent.

Jaden Yuki/Yuki Judai ➡️ Yuki Jurai

Jurai is going to be more interested in her studies than canon Judai, purely because she doesn't want to let her mother down. that doesn't mean she tests well in class. I figure she's probably a more active learner than book learner, so she does well in lessons when she can do things, but the lectures bore her and she learns more outside class time. It drives Professors like Crowler/de Medici nuts, because she's awful in class, but keeps getting passing grades in exams which means he can't kick her out.

Syrus Truesdale/Marufuji Sho ➡️ Marufuji Shoko

Shoko is as nervous as canon to start with. Ryu isn't any softer with her than he is with Sho, but Jurai is patient with her and tries to help. She in exchange, helps Jurai with keeping up with classwork. She is SUPER nervous after she finds out Jurai is Yugi's daughter, because she doesn't think she's worthy of hanging out with Yugi's DAUGHTER, also Jurai is a little frustrated by her assumption that of course she's good at dueling, she was taught by her mother, when Jurai was good before she got adopted.

As she gains confidence, she's more solid in herself, more confident, and actually stands up to her brother, who's proud of her for finding her backbone. She also stops fritzing about the Yugi thing when Yugi comes to assist with the Shadow Rider/7 Star Assassin thing and Shoko learns she's a human like them.

Also instead of Aniki, older brother, Shoko calls Jurai, Anesan, older sister.

Chumley Huffington/Maeda Hayato ➡️ Maeda Hayami

A heavier set koala girl with space buns trying to persuade her overbearing mom to let her be an artist. Yes, there is a koala plush on her bed.

I like the idea of Hayami coming to Pegasus's attention because she draws something for Yugi after she learns who Jurai's mom is (she's being infinitely less weird about it than Shoko) and Yugi has it as her phone background and Pegasus harasses her for the name of the artist

That draws him towards Hayami, and then, when she wins the card competition, which isn't biased because he doesn't know she's applied, he decides he needs to have her for I2 because she's an amazing artist.

Also, everyone who likes the Ennead versions of the GX crew, please check out the incredible @gx-gameon whose version of Jaden lives with Yugi is absolutely awesome. I've been planning my version for a while and its quite different, but I very much recommend theirs, and look forward to seeing more.

Future Proof When darkness consumed Kaiba's theme park, Jurai finds herself one of the few people still walking around. Thankfully she has her guardian at her side and her idol is there too… (Posting, 1 Chapter so Far)

Wait wait wait this is important for the Ennead GX timeline because it changes ages!!

I already knew the 1998-2002 thing but this changes ages by GX

So this is an interesting thing to note, cause it’s like, the only time in YGO we actually get a hecking date and can pinpoint when it takes place.

There’s a 2004 on Judai’s student sheet, and on Kaiser’s sheet it says Graduated 2004, which means Judai started at DA in 2004.

And since they stay for three years that means as of S3/4 it is 2006.

That also means that DM took place around 1999/2000 (since GX takes place ~7 years later, the 10 yrs later is a dub thing).

Also I worked it out backwards and Judai would have been born in 1989 (since he’s about 17/18 here). Which means he’s 2 years older than I am.

Okay, so, now things have calmed down, I'm back on my bullshit with this.

Jurai spends the first part of S1 making friends, getting used to the classes and trying her hardest because she's Yugi's daughter and doesn't want to let her down. She's even happy to help with the Spirit Duels with the Duel Spirits who cause issues.

During this time Shoko finds out whose daughter Jurai is because she walks in on a video call between Jurai and her family. To start with Shoko is freaking out but she keeps her promise and doesn't say a word to anyone.

Then the duel at the volcano happens.

Of course, because Jurai is hospitalized, her mother has to be called. Yugi and one of Jurai’s aunts come running to the island with Kaiba’s help, while Jurai’s father stays on the mainland, with their two year old twins, Jurai's siblings, Suguru and Shizuye.

And they get involved in the incident. Teaching the kids how to deal with magic and handling the Shadow Items. They're furious that another set was made and want to lock it down. They're also mad about the false Gods in the basement and do everything they can to help.

During this time Shoko realises that the Queen of Games is just as human as they are and stops being weird.

Also during this season we meet Tragiodia, a survivor of the Kul Elna massacre who was the one to get Ba-Khu-Ra to a city for her own safety and was warped into a demon after he tried to take revenge on Akhenaden and Jurai helps lay the last soul of Kul Elna to rest by defeating him.

S2 Jurai has to handle things alone after a certain point. When the Society of Light appear on the scene, Yugi and co are going to help, but Yugi's jumped by a rather large group of duelists and when every lifepoint lost allows the Light to seep in and taint a soul further, there comes a point where she just can't keep resisting and she uses the last of herself to send a warning to her husband and daughter.

And then she's on the other side.

That means Yugi's friends and family are distracted trying to purify her without getting caught in the light themselves, leaving Jurai and her friends to handle things on Duel Academy. Jurai's dad still keeps in contact while he can but there is a point where all Jurai is getting is a few messages from aunts and uncles.

This is the stepping up point for Jurai. She knows her family love her, she knows her mother's last thought before losing herself to the light was of her. And she knows that she has to handle things if she wants her family back.

And of course she wins.

I'm not doing the Bastion/Daichi Misawa falling in love with a tiger thing, and I'm also not doing the he gets ignored thing. Jurai would know better and as upset as she is about her family being unable to help her, she wouldn't ignore a friend.

S3 would be multiple books. There's so much going on that it would need to be. Jurai is more independent, there's less calls home, she's not angry at them for leaving her mostly alone to handle things, but she doesn't feel as confident that they'll always be there.

That slight bitterness leads into the Dark World arc. Jurai has always known she has powers. Yugi was helping her train them and so was Yubel. But it's during this arc that she learns more about her kingdom and how she was betrayed by the people who feared her after she saved them and it ties into the hurt that came from being abandoned by her birth parents and (not deliberately) by her new family and let's the darkness take over.

This is how we end up with the Evil Queen.

Haven't worked out all the details for turning Jurai back again yet. Sorry, but she does come back to her senses, with her full powers unlocked, and runs into Yubel on the way back.

And she remembers Yubel. Her birth parents sent Yubel away without Jurai's say so but Yubel is still hurt and furious and how dare the Egyptian Queen steal their Queen. So when they return to the human world, Jurai is forced to tame Yubel and merge her soul together to protect those she loves, including her dearest friend and partner, Yubel.

I haven't seen S4 yet, it was never dubbed but I'm working my way through the subs so I can see it and work out where I'm going with it.

However I have a rough idea.

Jurai in this season is quiet. Withdrawn. Her family try to teach out but she's ashamed of her actions as the Evil Queen and she's expecting to be cast off for them by family and friends. Duel Monsters no longer appeals and she takes a break from Duel Academy to go home.

And while she's heading there, the Darkness thing happens. And Jurai is furious, this is her home. Her family. And this asshole, this knockoff brand Zorc or Zorc fragment or whatever it is, is messing with her family and as angry, as hurt as Jurai is, she realises that this is her home and her family and she doesn't want to lose them.

So she kicks its ass.

Ennead GX would end with Jurai graduating out of Duel Academy and then going on a tour of the world. Trying to find herself and settle her mind. Yugi would encourage it, though she'd miss her daughter a lot and would try and meet up with her at points their paths cross.

And with Jurai rediscovering a love of the game by playing against people across the world who love the game for the game, not for the magic behind it, she even gets to duel Pegasus at one point.

Eventually she'd become a produelist. One of the first Speed Duelists in fact, and she adores her siblings and their kids, but that ties into Ennead 5ds so I won't go too far into that because other that knowing how my universe sets up for that series, I know nothing about it.

I need to watch 5ds before I do more than set up. XD

A small, completely spoiler free piece from False Light

“You seem to think I have something against you, Kaiba-boy.” Pegasus sounded almost disappointed as he took his own place, shuffled and set his deck and drew his opening hand. “Despite me putting all Industrial Illusions’ weight behind your little park and tournament.”

Ignoring those who gathered on the balconies above the arena to watch the duel as Pegasus turned the now outdated system on, he shuffled his deck and slammed it into place.

“After what you pulled? You know exactly why I don’t trust you, you snake.” Seto hissed back, drawing his own opening hand, “Just make your move.”

Pegasus just waved his order off, glancing up at the balcony to check who was watching and relaxing when it was Gekko and Scott, two of his sons, along with Scott’s girlfriend, a woman Pegasus didn’t particularly like, but knew everything about Duelist Kingdom because she had been with Scott when he had gotten the call about Pegasus’s hospitalisation.

Then a red headed child, no more than five or six, poked her head over the railing, standing on her tiptoes, trying to watch her new, adoptive father, play the game he was so proud of.

Scott, seeing her straining to see over the solid oak railing, scooped her up and set her upon his shoulders, where she giggled and waved at Pegasus.

The soft but slightly nervous look on Crawford’s face as he waved back, warned Seto that he should watch his words around the child.

(Samantha Presler, aka Sam, is the same age of Jurai, she was born on Halloween and can see Duel Spirits and ghosts. She will be at Duel Academy when Jurai is. Pegasus will introduce the kids after Yugi adopts Jurai)

Series Description:

Yugi was born a girl, inspired by the fact that I found out that Atem is in  fact commonly used as a girl's name. Yes I am aware of the fact that  mythology states that there was an Atem who was the father of Bast, but  once my brain had started ticking, well… here you go. There will be 9 main stories in the part of this series based on Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, 6 of which are posted or being posted, but I make no promises how many side stories and one shots will pop up by the time the series ends. This lines up with the 9 Gods and Goddesses of the Egyptian Ennead and is the reason for the series name. The main 9 arcs are: Truth (Ancient Egypt) Season Zero For Those We Love (Duelist Kingdom) Kin (Dungeon Dice Monsters) Kismet (Destiny Arc) Battle of the Gods (Battle City) False Light (Pyramid of Light) Orichalcos (don't have a working title for it) Eternity (Dark Side of Dimensions) Thanks to some friends, I am now planning Ennead GX, though how much of it I'll write after I finish Ennead DM is questionable. For Those We Love -  A sudden attack out of nowhere leaves Yugi with no choice but to travel  to an island in the middle of nowhere and compete to save her Ojiisan's  soul. Can she defeat Pegasus, save everyone and somehow, finally, work  out how to interact with Oneesan, all without getting herself killed? (Complete, 27 chapters)

Refrain - Duelist Kingdom was hard on the Kaibas and Seto can't sleep.(Complete, 1 shot)

Kin -  After surviving Duelist Kingdom, Yugi is looking forward to getting back  to normality. Well, what passes for normal when you're the one who  completed the Millennium Puzzle, one of your friends is the host for the  spirit whose rampage ended your elder twin's reign back in Egypt and  old adversaries of your grandfather have moved into town.   (Complete, 15 chapters)

Kismet -  After a close call in a raging inferno, Yugi is left with more questions  than answers.  One thing is certain: as she is, she cannot win the  oncoming fight and with the future of the world at stake, she needs to  know more. Thankfully, looking to the future can sometimes give you  answers to the past... (Completed, 19 chapters)

Unwind -  A little relaxation is good for the soul.  (Set between chapters 5 & 6 of Kismet. Complete, 1 shot.)

Semestral - A collection of drabbles and one shots set in the time skip between Kismet and Battle of the Gods (Complete. 44 chapters)

Fantasia - A game to be tested, a set of rules changed and an unfair plot interrupted lead a set of adventurers into trouble. (Being written, will update VERY slowly because this arc hates me, 2 chapters so far)

Battle of the Gods - Battle City has arrived. Yugi and her twin sister, the Spirit of the Puzzle, need to compete to earn the keys to unlock the Pharaoh's missing memories and powers, but there is danger on the horizon. Will they reach their goal or will the sun set on them, and the world? (Posting, 50 chapters so far...)

Side B - The King A dip in the ocean at the end of the worst day of Yugi's life, leads to a trip from which there may be no return... (One shot, Complete)

Side B - The Pawn The cost of self sacrifice burns deep, and Amane, having risked her life and soul to protect a friend, finds herself making a journey that could end badly... (One shot, Complete)

Side B - The Knight Jonouchi Katsuya knew it was a bad move the moment he made it, but coming back from it could be more challenging than he knew… (One shot, Complete)

Side B - The Bishop There's nothing more important to Kaiba Seto than his little brother, and when protecting him means making the ultimate sacrifice, Seto suddenly finds himself on trial for the future of his very soul… (One shot, Complete)

How true to post canon Ennead is Cherished? Because there's a lot of spoilers there. So you shouldn't be worried about posting Ennead GX parts because it's already out there.

Cherished is not actually canon to Ennead post Truth (Millennium world), there's ideas I might use in it but it's not canon.
