Tumblr media
𝑠𝑢𝑚𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑦: In order to placate your anxious mother, you agree to return to your hometown to participate in a mating run—knowing full well that betas rarely get chased, never mind betas nearly old enough to age out of the practice. You’ve decided to treat it like a vacation, a chance to visit with your childhood friends, the mating run itself a nice relaxing hike. All in all it’s a solid plan—until alpha Todoroki Shouto, your best friend's little brother, steps in and blows it all to pieces. 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡: omegaverse, no quirks au, alpha!shouto, beta!reader, mating rituals, age gap, best friend’s little brother, older reader, afab reader, some class differences, aged up characters, semi-public sex, slight small town romance vibes, background implied dabihawks for some reason, smut, 18+; mdni! 𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑡ℎ: 4.7k | chapter 2 of 4

Then
The Todoroki house was the most interesting place you had ever been.
At home it was just you and your mom, and most of the time she was working, or recovering from working, but the Todoroki house was packed with children from wall to wall. There was almost never a dull minute—except when Todoroki Enji came home and everyone got stiff and weird—but when he wasn’t around, you found you preferred the Todoroki mansion to the loneliness of your own empty house.
Touya seemed to sense this, and deigned to invite you over often, enough that you found yourself following him home after school at least once a week.
After the first time, you’d been introduced to his other siblings, Fuyumi and Natuso, who were both much nicer than Touya, and notably far more talkative. Shouto was a near-constant too, almost always propped on his mother’s hip when you arrived home, and always eager to be handed off to you, enough that you could tell Touya was annoyed.
“You’re not even related,” he complained, and you hid a smile at his barely-couched jealousy.
“I’m just better than you,” you told him, sticking your tongue out, dodging when he tried to grab it. You’d never had siblings, and you’d been forced to learn quickly that nothing was off-limits to people with younger siblings. Revenge would always be exacted.
Even when Shouto got older, old enough to talk in complete sentences and toddle about on his own, he seemed to prefer your company. You and Touya were almost never left alone to play on your own, Shouto always in the room with you, almost velcroed to your side.
He was on the floor next to you in the living room on one such occasion, Touya absolutely destroying you in Super Mario, when Rei called Touya in from the kitchen.
Touya rolled his eyes, pausing and flinging his controller at your head with the manner of someone who hoped it actually connected. “Don’t restart while I’m gone or I’ll kill you.”
You saluted him as he stomped out, taking a minute to stretch out from where you’d sat hunched over your controller. You bumped Shouto as you did, and he looked up at you from his coloring book, where he was shading in a pair of penguins in hot pink.
“Nice choice,” you told him, and Shouto looked a little bit like he was trying not to preen.
“Izuku in my class says penguins mate for life, like us,” he said, authoritatively.
You blinked, your brain snagging on the like us. Alphas, betas, and omegas could mate for life, and were generally expected to, but that didn’t always quite play out if you didn’t find your life mate. Your mother was a near-hand example, your father having left her while you were still in swaddling clothes, only to pass away a short few years later. They hadn’t been life mates, you’d come to realize recently—though your mother still believed in them. You hoped she’d find hers still, someday.
You thought maybe, however, that you were not going to hold out hope for your own, if it was as tricky as it seemed.
“You know not everyone does, right?” you asked, peering down at Shouto.
Wide, guileless eyes stared back up at you. Shouto had lost a little of his baby fat recently, but absolutely none of his sweetness.
“Who does not?” he demanded, sitting back on his haunches.
You fiddled with the controller in your fingers, wondering suddenly if you should have brought this up with him. “Some people. My parents didn’t,” you said, cautiously.
Shouto’s eyebrows rose a fraction of an inch. “Your parents?”
You shook your head. “Sometimes people don’t find them even after all of the mating runs.”
Shouto did not look pleased with this. His eyes roved over you, pinning on you with a sort of sudden, unnerving intensity. “Sometimes people go on mating runs. And their life mate is not there because they are too young to go yet.”
You blinked, surprised by the specificity of this conclusion. “Sometimes, probably, yeah.”
Shouto’s tiny frown deepened, and he carefully arranged himself up against your side. “You will wait though, right?”
Your hand found its way unthinkingly into his hair, ruffling it. He was a sweet kid. “I mean, people usually go through more than one mating run, right?”
Shouto pressed more insistently into your side. “You will keep going until your life mate is there, though.”
You had an image of yourself, greying and eighty, slowly wobbling on your cane through the preserve. You suppressed a laugh. “I’ll go as I can until I age out, how about that?”
Shouto nodded, satisfied. His crayon resumed on the penguins, fiery pink streaking across the page. “I will be there,” he pronounced definitively.
His decisive tone startled a laugh out of you. You grinned down at him, unable to help the urge to ruffle his hair again. “I’ll stick around until we can run together. Although you better get good at climbing trees.”
Shouto blinked, his mouth pursing in puzzlement. “Trees,” he repeated to himself.
You nodded. “If I’m not an alpha, and I have to hide somewhere, I’m going to find the best tree in the preserve and go up it and not come down until I find my life mate.”
You would not be like your parents. You would not settle, and you would be realistic about your prospects.
Shouto’s eyes tracked across your face once more, like he was committing the statement to memory.
“You’re welcome to come up with me,” you said. You couldn’t imagine Shouto as anything other than an omega like his mom, not with that sweet little face. You didn’t like the idea of some alpha trying to get at him, so it was better he stay safe in your tree with you.
The thought suddenly rankled, and you decided you were done with this discussion. Better not to think of Shouto all grown up and spirited away from everyone until you absolutely had to.
You tapped a finger on Shouto’s coloring book, turning him back to it. “Anyway. Tell me about the other animals in here? Did Izuku tell you about any of these?”
Shouto looked down at the page, his expression shifting seriously. “This is a killer whale,” he said, pointing to a corner of the page he’d colored in with a blob of forest green. “They are related to dolphins. They are the biggest dolphin in the world.”
You nodded, relaxing back on your hands, gesturing for him to go on.
Shouto took his job very seriously, explaining solemnly and in great detail all the animals on the page, the way he sometimes described all his toys to you. You let him go on, finding that you liked listening to Shouto talk—he was rarely so wordy, but he was easy and familiar and funny in how seriously he took everything.
You laid back and listened to him, hoping Touya took a little extra time in the kitchen. Shouto looked pleased to have your attention, and soon enough you found yourself dozing, your head against his little thigh, content with Shouto’s sweet little voice washing over you.
In Shouto’s company, the Todoroki house felt a lot like home.

Now
Your beloved mother woke you in the morning ramming the vacuum into the door of your old bedroom-turned-storage room.
You groaned from your air mattress, your old bed frame sold off already to pay a gas bill. You missed that thing.
“Only a week together and you were out all day yesterday,” your mother said when you emerged from your old room, shooting you a look that immediately made you feel like a teenager again. She was wearing one of your old sweatshirts, that she’d clearly commandeered because she’d missed you.
Your heart squeezed a little at the familiar sight of her, but not enough to curb your morning fussiness.
“Maybe I was out scoping alphas to pounce on during the run,” you said, shuffling towards the kitchen and the promise of coffee.
“You were out with the mayor’s son,” she said, sniffing. A small smile pulled at your mouth—she had pettily refused to call Touya by his name for years.
She’d been thrilled by your friendship with him when you were kids. From the outside, Touya had looked like a beautiful little boy from a well-to-do family. You knew she’d once held out hope for your friendship to turn into something more, to see you settled into a well-off family and taken good care of.
For your part, however, you’d been drawn to Touya but never interested in that way, and you knew Touya felt the same. And things had only gotten more complicated when Touya’s mental health had crumbled like dirt under his father’s heel, and even worse when the Todoroki family fire broke out; Touya’s extensive burns damaged his glands and destroyed any evidence of his secondary gender before he’d even presented. Though, personally, you’d always suspected he was an omega. He was showy, flashy, possessed of that classic omega need for praise and attention—not quite to your tastes.
You thought you probably preferred someone a little more lowkey, someone steady and easy. Definitely not Touya.
There was also the fact that his efforts as of late seemed directed at the one quarter of your friend group with blonde, fluffy hair. Though you knew Touya would rather burn his remaining skin off before admitting it.
Either way, your mother’s hopes of a marriage into the Todoroki family were dashed, along with her opinion of Todoroki Enji when things finally came to head, and she’d never quite forgiven Touya for it.
“Touya says hello,” you answered distractedly, fiddling around with the coffee machine, though of course Touya had said no such thing. “I saw Rei though, and Natsuo and Fuyumi and Shouto. Did you know Shouto is a firefighter now? He’s gotten so big.”
“An alpha?” your mom’s voice floated out from the living room, her eagerness not quite suppressed.
You laughed, though a tiny, strange sort of spark lit up your spine. “Mom, I’m a couple years too old for him. I’m like his grandma.”
“Oh you are not, you dramatic thing,” you heard her sniff.
“Our first date could be at my bingo hall,” you carried on over the hiss of the water boiling, the dribble of coffee into the pot. “And we could get drunk on our prune juice, and I could slide out my dentures waiting for him to kiss me—”
“I’m going to sell you,” your mother said, her vacuum starting up again pointedly. You heard the distinct thump of it being rammed into a couch leg and grinned.
You knew she wanted to see you settled because she loved you, wanted to see you taken care of in all the ways that she hadn’t been. Your father had let her down years before he’d even passed, which you thought should have besmirched any alpha’s good name in your mother’s book. But she was determined to believe in love and life mates despite it all, and you admired her for it. She was a stubborn thing.
You spent the morning helping her do chores, clambering up onto the counters and getting all the places she couldn’t regularly reach, hauling out her trash and googling your way through some low-level repairs. You shared a quick breakfast in between, dodging more questions about the mating run, before returning to cleaning.
You were covered in dust and a thin layer of Lysol by the time you remembered you’d promised to meet Shouto at the fire station for lunch. There was not enough time to change or shower if you wanted to pick something up on the way, and you supposed it was well enough that Shouto did not actually possess the level of interest in you that your mother might have wanted him to.
“Going to see my child bride,” you told your mom on the way out, laughing and dodging a sponge.
The walk to the fire station took the better part of forty-five minutes, including a long interlude spent hemming and hawing over the prepared foods section of the grocery store before you finally settled on cold soba—Shouto’s favorite from when you were younger, if you remembered correctly.
The fire station itself was an older, whitewashed multi-story building, set back from the main road. The garage doors were open in the warming spring air, the bright red of the fire engines clearly visible from blocks away. You must have been visible from blocks away, too, because Shouto stepped out as you turned onto the drive, the dark blue of his stationwear stark against his skin.
Your heart did a strange lurching motion in your chest, and you pointedly did not let your eyes linger on the way his uniform belted in at his hips, highlighting the trimness of his waist and the breadth of his shoulders. Nope.
“Hi Shouto,” you said, holding up your bag of spoils. “You still like soba, right?”
Shouto blinked, his eyelashes fluttering. Long fingers touched the bag, hefting it carefully from your grip. “You remember.”
You grinned up at him. “How could I forget? Especially because I was there when you had it for the first time. You flung some at Touya from your high chair and it ended up on me instead.”
Shouto looked embarrassed, a pink flush spreading prettily across the tops of his high cheekbones. “I do not believe you.”
“Uh huh,” you said.
Shouto’s mouth pulled into what might have been a nonexpression on anyone else, but was most definitely a pout on him. Cute.
“I can reassure you there will be no soba flung today,” he promised, his deep voice earnest. Then he paused. “Touya is not in range.”
A surprised laugh escaped you, and the edge of Shouto’s lips pulled. He looked pleased with himself for having drawn it out of you. He’d always made you laugh, even as a kid—though mostly for how incongruously serious he was as a child, even about the silliest things. But also for how he seemed able to press people’s buttons—Touya’s especially—just by existing.
Shouto gestured you inside, and you studied the firetrucks as you passed them, mostly so you did not watch the way Shouto’s shoulders shifted beneath his shirt.
When he caught your look of curiosity, Shouto led you over to one, opening the door for you to take a look inside. You peered at all the knobs and switches interestedly, leaning into the cab. It looked complex, and yet very familiar. It actually looked a lot like the toy fire truck that once spent a fair amount of time occupying the inside of baby Shouto’s mouth.
You glanced back, opening your mouth to tell Shouto as much, when suddenly two large hands were at your waist, warm and sure. They lifted you right into the driver’s seat like it was absolutely no effort.
You fell into the cab, suddenly winded. You whipped around to stare at Shouto, heart hammering with the casual display of alpha strength, unable to help the wide-eyed look you knew you were giving him. That was—that was—not allowed.
“Am I—can I be—in here?” you garbled out, trying not to make obvious the real reason for your sudden disorientation.
Shouto stepped up onto the wheel plate to lean into the cab beside you, bringing in a puff of that scent like campfire on a cold day. “Yes,” he answered, looking unbothered with how close his face was to yours.
You watched him helplessly, brain fogging with his proximity and his scent. He was very, very pretty up close. He’d grown into what had to be the most beautiful person you’d actually ever seen—his mother’s looks, dialed up to an eleven. The deliberate alpha edge to him should have been at odds with that delicate sensuality—but instead it was like his secondary gender sat on him like a beam of sunlight, highlighting his beauty.
It was totally at conflict with the round, pudgy little thing he’d been when you’d first seen him, the lanky preteen you’d left him as.
He felt so familiar and yet so strangely new. It was disconcerting.
You quickly averted your gaze, making a show of leaning in over all the dials and buttons. Shouto leaned right over your lap, his chest warm against your legs, patiently explaining what each one did in his low, calm tone. The depth of his voice was so shocking, but the tone so similar to what it had been—you could remember him explaining animals in his coloring book to you in much the same level of careful detail once.
Your head spun with the dichotomy. Baby Shouto, a lifetime away, and adult alpha Shouto here in front of you—
You hurriedly pushed the thought of adult alpha Shouto down before you could think too deeply on it. That was off limits.
When you’d had your fill and Shouto had managed to make sure you didn’t accidentally deploy the ladder in the station itself, he helped you down from the cab, his hands hot on your waist.
“I’m old but still spry enough to get myself down, young man,” you told him as he settled you back on the station floor. Your heartbeat felt like it was somewhere around your throat.
“I did not hear your bones creak at least,” Shouto said, startling you into a laugh again.
His mouth twitched as he led you further into the station, giving you a short tour of the gear racks, the office, the laundry room and fitness room stuffed with several of his coworkers, a room that smelled overwhelmingly of clashing alpha scents, none nearly as good as Shouto’s.
A cheery red head waved to you from the leg press, that Shouto introduced as Kirishima, and a blonde alpha greeted him with a towel whipped directly at Shouto’s face. Shouto ducked it with the ease of long practice.
“Oi halfie, who the fuck told you you could eat the cookies I brought in?” the blonde demanded, barely sparing you an acknowledging glace as he reracked a mind-bogglingly enormous set of weights.
Shouto introduced him anyway, in a deliberately bland tone that you immediately recognized as one he deployed to rile up Touya. “This is Bakugou Katsuki.”
“Answer the damn question,” Bakugou said.
Shouto blinked long and slow and absolutely meant to annoy. You hid a smile. “Am I expected to fight fires on an empty stomach,” Shouto said, flatter than a question.
“I’ll fucking show you an empty stomach when I rip out your—”
“You must be Y/N,” Kirishima said loudly from the leg press. You instantly clocked a beta disruption technique at work and smiled at him.
“Nice to meet you,” you said, searching for something to reply with, uniting in his peace-keeping mission. “That’s—an impressive amount of weight.”
“Thanks!” Kirishima said brightly.
Out of the corner of your eye you caught Shouto’s head snapping towards you, and you looked back to find his eyes narrowed on you.
“I can press as much,” Shouto said, his tone insistent. He crowded a little closer to you.
Your eyebrows crept towards your hairline, mystified. “I—that’s—great?”
A tiny frown pulled at Shouto’s mouth, and a disgusted sound issued from Bakugou’s corner of the gym. “You gotta be fucking kidding me. Take this shit right outta here,” Bakugou demanded.
Shouto ignored him, still staring at you. He pressed closer, his shoulders shifting so that he was angled between you and Kirishima, obscuring most of your line of sight.
“I—mean you definitely look like you can press, um, a lot,” you continued, bewildered. “The only pressing I do is, uh, french press.”
The frown evaporated from Shouto’s expression, something suddenly pleased descending over it instead. Beyond him, you thought you could see Kirishima smiling, mouthing you look like you can press a lot to Bakugou, and an answering eye-roll from Bakugou. Oh god. Had you said that?
Your face heated, and you immediately decided an evacuation was in order. “Well thanks for letting us interrupt you. Nice to meet you guys. Shouto—should we—?”
Shouto’s hand found the small of your back, gently guiding you. All thought of Kirishima and Bakugou suddenly evaporated under the feeling of that hot palm, and you barely managed another wave as Shouto shadowed you out of the room. He led you up a flight of stairs to the dorm area, where several more of his coworkers were arrayed, chatting over their own lunches.
Face still sort of warm, you helped Shouto unpack the soba and the various side dishes you’d grabbed. He disappeared further into the kitchen and returned with glasses of water and the appropriate utensils, arraying everything in front of you.
“So this is going to be your first run,” you said conversationally, after you’d taken your first bite of soba. “Got any lucky omega in mind?”
Shouto’s eyes darted up from his chopsticks to your face, grey and blue pinning you. “I have… someone in mind,” he said, after a moment.
A strange twinge made itself known in your chest again. You ignored it, shoving more noodles into your mouth determinedly.
“I am sure you will have absolutely no trouble, but I am happy to give you a quick rundown of all the usual hiding spots anyway,” you said. “Most omegas actually end up not too far into the preserve because they want to be caught, so it should be pretty easy.”
One of Shouto’s brows quirked the tiniest bit. “I have reason to believe I’ll need to follow at least a few miles.”
You felt your own eyebrows lift. Not too many omegas went super far in, unless they were looking to avoid someone or pose a real challenge. You went miles in specifically for that reason as well—to steer clear of the action, not that it was likely to find you anyway—and get up your tree before anyone came looking.
“There’s fewer spots that far out because the brush gets all scraggly at the coast,” you said. “There’s a few outcroppings though that I’ve seen omegas go for. You really think your intended will go that far?”
Shouto considered you for a long moment, those mismatched eyes roving over you. “I do.”
Whoever it was, they were going to make him work for it, huh? You suppressed a growing spot of offense on his behalf.
“And you’re sure about this person?” you asked.
Shouto nodded. “I have been sure since I was very small.”
Your heart skipped a beat at the same time as your stomach seemed to drop. That was very sweet—and also strangely disheartening to hear.
Why was that disheartening?
“Then—do you think they’re for sure your life mate?” you asked, taking a careful, studied sip of water.
“I do,” Shouto answered. The simplicity of his statement spoke for itself. You were a beta and did not have quite the same capacity to detect your mate as an alpha, but you knew alphas always knew. You wondered if he’d always known he was going to end up an alpha if he’d had that instinctive understanding since he was young.
You wondered why he’d never said anything, all those years you’d grown up together.
Your heart did a strange dip, sinking at the same time it lifted for him.
“I’m really happy for you Shouto. I’m glad I came back just in time to see you find happiness, when it feels like I have already missed so much else,” you told him.
Shouto leaned forward, catching your eye. His gaze was serious where it caught yours. “I am glad you came back, too. You have been… missed,” he said.
Your heartbeat fluttered, and you gripped the edge of the table, trying to quell the feeling. It would not do to be too overwhelmed by Shouto. Not now.
You managed a smile, and quickly rerouted the conversation back to the hiding spots you knew, and the forest trails you’d seen most omegas utilize. Shouto watched you carefully, and you hoped he was committing the information to memory.
After that the conversation turned to more innocuous topics, a rehashing of some of your shared childhood memories, some picking on Touya. The soba disappeared between the two of you, as well as all the side dishes you’d brought. Shouto was incredibly easy to talk to, you found—a fascinating blend of the earnest, slight shit-stirrer of a little boy you’d known and a blandly funny adult man. He had some of Touya’s underlying propensity towards intensity, and some of his mother’s thoughtful sweetness—and you liked the way the familiar traits blended into something faceted and interesting.
He really had grown up.
After lunch he let you explore more of the station, showing you all the compartments on the fire engines, explaining all the equipment. On the way to the door he also let you rifle through the gear bays, showing you his own rack of turnout gear.
He even let you try his jacket on, looking like he was suppressing a smile when the heaviness of it weighed your arms down, watching you flap your arms around, marveling as what was easily twenty pounds of heat-proof fabric resisted you.
No wonder he needed such an intense workout routine.
You couldn’t help but be amazed by it all—who Shouto had turned into, and the fact that he had such an impressive job, one that fit him so well. The fact that he was an adult now, with goals and ambitions that were a lot more grounded than yours. The fact that he was an alpha of all things, and could lift you up into a firetruck as easily as you’d once lifted him off Touya’s hip.
It was so much to contemplate, and you watched him, helplessly fascinated, as he led you around.
You lingered for long enough that the sky was tinging pink and orange by the time you left, and Shouto saw you to the door, insisting on plugging in his number to your phone so you could text when you got home. You could still feel his eyes on you as you turned the corner down the street, a strange warmth suffusing you as you walked. It kept you warm the entire way home, despite the cool evening air.
It was only when you arrived at your mother’s front door, shooting off your promised text to Shouto that you realized that you were mooning like a girl returning home from a date—a completely embarrassing, inappropriate tact for your mind to take with someone who had been your childhood friend. Your childhood junior.
Besides, Shouto had explicitly said he had someone in mind already, someone he intended to follow during the run. And you were too old for him, and a beta as well. Alpha-beta couplings were rare—and if Shouto had known who his life mate was since he was very small, and never given any indication it was a beta—well that spoke for itself.
You shook your head as you let yourself in through the door, trying to slough off the feeling as you called a greeting to your mother. It was sad you’d never get to haul him up a tree after you, the way you’d promised when you were kids. But such was life, you guessed.
Shouto may have grown up into an admirable man and a beautiful alpha—but he was off limits to you. You’d make sure you treated him with nothing but the respect and friendly fondness he deserved. Nothing else.
Absolutely nothing else.

Meet the Todorokis
Tumblr media
@supernatural-hunter1 @dabisangle
Dabi told you about his family before he did the reveal to the whole of Japan. He told you about how abusive his father was, how his mom did nothing to help, how his siblings didn't understand what it felt like to be in his position and how he hated his youngest brother. From the little information he'd give you, throughout the months of being together, you.cpuld tell there was some serious trauma and his home life and family were anything but loving. Aside from the physical scars, you knew there was some pretty bad mental scarring, even though he tried to play off the hurt and pain by being cocky and nonchalant.
When the heroes found out you were involved with the league and Dabi, especially romantically, you became a top priority for Endeavor to capture and lock away, so that's what happened. When you were caught, you were sent to Tartarus and servailenced 24/7, heavily armed guards would be posted in your room and right outside of it. The room littered with cameras, there was an inch of privacy in that tiny space you now called home. But you knew, you knew Dabi would save you, it would just take a little time, until then, you had to grin and bare it.
It was the same routine everyday, sitting in that small, padded room with cameras covering inch after inch, doing nothing but letting your mind drift away and thinking about the league but especially Dabi. How was he doing, what was he doing, did he miss you, was he even thinking about you? You didn't doubt he was but curiosity was eating at your brain and heart, taking over your thoughts. So, it was a big surprise when you were told you had visitors and the Todorokis, nonetheless. They were all there, Rei, Fuyumi, Natsuo, Shoto.... and I guess the man that Touya had to call father was there too. It would've been sweet too have such a messed up family if you didn't know their dirty little secrets and the reasons for visiting in the first place. They all looked empty- heartbroken even, their eyes full of sorrows and regret while Reis eyes leaked salty tears ,only to be comforted by daughter... huh, you wonder if any of them tried to comfort Touya that way. Then again, given the family and their dynamic, you highly doubt it. But, sat in front of this fucked up family as they stared you down and asked invasive questions, you started too understand it wasn't out of love for Touya, it was because of guilt and that just pissed you off a lot more. They weren't trying too right their wrongs, it was because they knew that they were horrible for what they did and they tried too quiet their guilt. So you can't really blame yourself for snapping and going off on that horrible man- thing. That horrible thing. "What would you say you're relationship to my son is." You scowled at Enjis question, a scoff falling from your lips unintentionally but you didn't try too stop it. Your eyes narrowed at that abusive man, only obsessed with the image of the so-called greater-good. He didn't even ask how Touya has been, how much the thought of his old man being praised for being a hero when in actuality, he was more of a villain then most were, ate at Touya every night, kept him up for days- weeks even- on end. "Don't. Call him that, Touya is no longer your son, he is no longer the boy that yearned for your praise and approval, no longer the boy that was willing to kill himself too make you happy. He's better, different now. His eyes have been opened to your disgusting ways of bullshit parenting." It was said more aggressively then you thought it was but, he needed too understand Dabi would never be Touya- their Touya, ever again, he was your Touya now and forever.
Endeavors hands tightened into fists at that, while his wifes eyes dropped, looking away and squeezing tightly as she breathed in a stuttered inhale. "He's still my son, I wasn't the best fath-" there's a quick cut off from you as you shifted in your seat. "No. You weren't even a father to begin with, so don't give me that bullshit speech that you're sorry and you regret what you did because I don't care to listen to it, you can give your traumatized family that bullshit but I won't listen to it." It's spat at him, your voice raising in pitch towards the end of your sentence as you scowled at the false hero. You didn't mean to go on a tangent rant but.. it happened. "You, Enji Todoroki, abused your children. You attempted to use them for your own selfish desires and make up for your pathetic failures and all your overwhelming undoings. You. Are no man- especially not a father. No father would ever. Force their child to take on such a burden, so young in their life. No man would ever put his hands on a woman- much less their wife. The woman who gave you those children in the first place. The woman who took care of them and bathed them, dressed them, read them bed time stories while you chased after a dream you, yourself acknowledged would never happen on your own, so you tried to live through your children. And you, Rei Todoroki. The first time that man put his fucking hands on you or your children, you should've left him. Don't ever let a man put his fucking hands on your children. Ever. You. Are no mother. No mother would throw boiling water on her sons face because she couldn't stand the piece of shit man that she was forced too marry. Your kids are their own people and have their own dreams. The reason the both of you even have kids was selfish from the get-go. I'm happy Touya got out- got away. None of your kids deserved that, but especially Touya. Now leave." By the end of it, Rei was in tears and Enjis teeth were clenched so tight, you thought they were gonna break as his fists were tight and shaking, his knuckles turning pale, ghost white as his eyes became wet and started too sting. The family left quickly after that as the door slammed behind them.
You couldn't wait for Dabi to end Enji Todorokis pathetic life of lies.

If you're still taking requests.
How would Endeavor and Hawks react to a broody (like when chickens are incubating eggs) phoenix child reader only to find out that the eggs in the nest are fertilized?
I hope that makes sense.
Whose the father? That’s their immediate reaction
After all, you couldn’t have fertilized them yourself
Any time Hawks tries to get near your nest, you immediately start trying to attack him
Enji has to hold you back so you don’t kill him
Hawks is not allowed near you since you attack him
For the sake of this to make sense, let’s just say that Tokoyami is the father. Or at least, he fertilized the eggs.
Hawks and Enji had no idea that you and Tokoyami were so close
You built a nest of blankets, sheets, pillows and clothes. You have two eggs that are fertile
Tokoyami has to bring you food and water since you refuse to move from your eggs.
You shed a lot of your flight feathers and have grown feathers that are slightly more downy and soft. The shed feathers are tucked into your nest
You have a heat lamp in your room that you use to keep the eggs warm when you leave to use the bathroom
You never leave the eggs for more than 30 minutes, ever
Natsuo checks the eggs often to see how they’re developing
Since your instincts are strong, you ‘decide’ to keep the babies. Not like your instincts would let you get rid of them
It takes 7 months in total for the babies to grow and hatch. In that time, Fuyumi and Natsuo are bragging about how their going to be Aunts and Uncles.
Shoto asks questions about the eggs and helps you plan for their future, where their rooms will be, how you plan to raise them, etc
Everyone in the Todoroki family already considers the reader as their sibling so they see themselves as the Aunts and Uncles of the reader’s eggs
Enji is stoked and yet horrified to be a granddad. He knows he was a terrible father to his own kids and he’s terrified that he’s gonna ruin his chances with his grandchildren, if he’s even allowed in their lives
Hawks is stoked and is already bragging about his niece and nephew, assuming the eggs are a boy and girl (you can change the babies’s genders) he’s gotten them so many gifts already and even plans out how to help raise them
Once the fetuses start to move and you feel it, you tell Tokoyami. He’s amazed and is slightly teary eyed. Dark shadow is bawling his eye out and proclaiming that he’ll never leave the eggs’s sides
Shoto just stares with a slightly amazed look and a soft smile when he feels the eggs move. Fuyumi is excited and happily smiles while giggling as tears run down her face. Natsuo just smiles and talks about what you might have to expect and writes down what’s happening for his medical experience and references
When the babies finally hatch it’s at 3:42 am in the morning. The babies are 6 1/2 lbs each
It takes 3 more months of you constantly taking care of them for them to fully absorb their yolk sacs, grow to standard baby weights, start suckling and to start developing feathers
Sorry if it’s short. If you want a part 2 of this or want to hear about the babies growing up, leave a comment please and thank you

CHAPTER FOUR
WARNING: SMUTTTTTTTTT
You and Aizawa watched the students as they sparred together. He strategically placed the students with each other, their partners having what they don't have. Whether it's patience, strategic skills, or being a team player, all of the matches work.
"Has Shoto ever said anything to you about his dad?" You lean back in the bleachers.
"Not really. He stays to himself a lot, but any time anyone ever mentions the new #1 hero, Todoroki rolls his eyes. Why?"
"Enji is trying to rebuild his relationships with his kids, and I have a feeling that one is gonna be tough to crack."
"You and Endeavor are close?" Aizawa sounded genuine.
"You could say that. He does tell me a lot about his past, and all of the mistakes he's made. One of them being so hard on Shoto."
All Aizawa does is nod as he continues to watch the students. "You know, about our past-" He began to speak.
"What about it?" You turn to look at him, your mind getting lost in his dark chocolate brown eyes.
"I, I've always -" He turned his knees towards you as he spoke.
"MR. AIZAWA BAKUGO IS GOING TO KILL MIDORIA!" Iida ran to the bleachers. "I'M NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED BUT BAKUGO IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE. LITERALLY."
You and Aizawa immediately jump onto the ground to find the pair. Bakugo looks like he wants to destroy anything in his path. Aizawa turned into Eraserhead to stop him from going any further.
"You got off easy because they're here." Bakugo said to Midoria. "Whatever your quirk is, mine is better and I WILL beat you."
"Um... okay." You press your hands to Midoria's shoulders. "Midoria, why don't you take a breather." You turn to look at Midoria, who is a bit shorter than you. His eyes are big and glossy, like he's about to cry. He nods and turns to go to the bleachers.
You turn your attention to Aizawa. He's lecturing Bakugo with his back to you. Your eyes scan over his body - his broad shoulders, muscular arms, smaller waist, and his long legs. His wavy hair was pushed back against his goggles.
You caught yourself staring a bit too long.
Shit.
What is this feeling?
_______________________
For the rest of the week you tried your best to focus on planning out your classes. After all, next week you'll be on your own.
You also avoided Aizawa. You would leave class before him, and leave your room after him in the morning so you wouldn't have to talk to him.
You had some feeling in your stomach when you looked at him. A feeling that was unwanted by your brain, but your heart continued.
Keigo, however, you have not been avoiding. You had fun when you hung out with him. Actual fun. He's very sweet and takes note of everything you say.
He also made it a habit to call you during your lunch every day.
"So I was thinking we could go out on a date tomorrow night." Keigo said as you pressed the phone between your ear and shoulder.
"Where were you thinking?" You open your container, mixing your salad with your fork.
"I was thinking we could do dinner downtown and then talk a walk around the park. It should be a nice night out."
"Pick me up at 7." You smile and take a bite of your caesar salad. "No flying, though. I don't want to get sick."
"Aw come on, I wanted to show you how high I can go."
"Fine." You roll your eyes, flickering your gaze up to the tall man in front of you. "I'll see you tomorrow." You hang up the phone.
"You've been avoiding me." Aizawa sat down across from you in the teachers lounge.
"I would never do touch a thing." You placed your hand on your chest. "You're my absolute favoriteeeee person, why would I do that?!"
"I don't know." He placed his arms on the table in front of him. "Is the bird telling you not to talk to me?"
"Shouta why would you say something so stupid." You dug your fork in your food. "I don't belong to anyone, so I can talk to whoever I want and if Kiego ever even suggest that I don't talk to a particular person, he will no longer be in my life."
"Mm." He nodded, watching you put your fork in your mouth, your lips wrapping around the utensil. You take note of his eyes on your lips, but you don't say anything.
You want to see how far you can get him. How much you can make him... want you.
You can't even deny it anymore. The thought of Aizawa getting turned on by you gets you turned on.
You're single. You can date whoever you want. However many men you want.
You purposely got some dressing on your lips and didn't wipe it off. Knowing that Aizawa would point it out.
"You have dressing on your face." He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Oh! Thank you." You pull out a compact mirror and dip your finger in the spot with the dressing, then sliding your index finger in your mouth to lick off the dressing.
Aizawa watched as your full lips wrapped around your index finger. His eyes scanned your dainty hands, your baby pink almond shaped nails perfectly manicured. He's careful not to show too much emotion, but he can't help the excitement growing in his pants.
"Oh, lunch is over. I'm gonna go train a bit, I feel a bit rusty." You stand up quickly and shove your lunch container in your bag. "See you Monday, Eraser."
___________________________
You decided on a white square cut crop top with straight leg jeans that fit you just right, accentuating your curves. Paired with your white platform converse and gold accessories - you were ready.
You stared at yourself in the mirror, making sure your hair is in place and your makeup is just the way you like it. Clear lip gloss topped the entire look off, leaving you looking juicy and glowy.
At 7 on the dot, there was a knock at your door. Keigo was wearing a black shirt with a black jacket, similar to the one he wears with his hero uniform. His wings are on full display - you can tell he takes great care of them. They're shiny and voluminous.
"You look beautiful as usual." Keigo pulled a bouquet of flowers from behind his back. Two dozen red roses. "More beautiful than these flowers."
"Keigo, you are so sweet." You grab the fur lining of his jacket, pulling him closer to you. You pressed your lips against his, to his surprise. The smell of roses flooded your nostrils as you kissed him with a mix of his sandalwood cologne. "Let me put these in a vase before we go." You turn and walk back into your apartment.
You place the vase in the middle of your kitchen island, making sure there's enough water. "Okay. Ready." You pull your purse over your shoulder and walked to Keigo in the doorway.
He held out his hand for yours, his fingers intertwining with yours. "You ready to fly?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
Keigo took you in his arms bridal style and took flight. His wings allow him to gain height at insane speeds - your mind almost coun't comprehend it. Your grip on him tightened as you got higher.
"It's okay. I'm not going anywhere." Keigo kissed the top of your head. "Open your eyes."
Reluctantly, you opened your eyes and saw the night sky. You were in the clouds, the stars shining above you.
"Wow, this is breath taking." You leaned your head on his shoulder. You felt his hands tighten around your legs, his thumbs grazing your skin.
"This is how I feel when I'm with you." His eyes analyzed your face as he spoke. You tilted your head up to meet his eyes, letting your mouths crash together. Your hand presses against his cheek as you deepen the kiss with your tongue. You hear his breath hitch as your tongue dances with his.
"We can't do this up here. I can't promise I can stay focused on flying." He pecked your lips quickly before he started the descent back to the ground.
The rest of the date was great. You and Keigo always have fun together and this time was no different. Laughs and smiles are mandatory when you spend time together.
He would steal kisses during dinner when you weren't expecting it. It was adorable.
Keigo is incredibly sweet, caring, kind, and outwardly shows his interest in you. He's what you need.
When the date was over and it was time to drop you off at your place, you didn't want the night to end.
"Do you want to come in?" You lean your back against the door. Your voice was low, almost a whisper, and your mouth formed into a smirk.
"I'm not sure I'll want to leave if I go in." He leaned in, hovering his lips over yours.
"It's not a school night." You tilt your head up to graze his lips. He held himself back from attacking your lips right then and there. You turn your key into your door and grabbed his hand, bringing him into your place.
Keigo wasted no time taking off his jacket and taking you in his arms. You wrapped your legs around his waist as his lips attached to yours. He was so needy, which you love. His hands planted on your plump ass as he walked to your bedroom.
Giving it a squeeze before laying you down on your bed, he left kisses on your neck down to your chest. Your buried your hands in his hair as he kissed every inch of your chest.
His lips sucked on various spots on your chest as his hands pulled your shirt down inch by inch until your nipples were revealed. "May I?"
You only nod, your hands almost cradling his head as he attached his lips to your hard nipple. He took one hand to the other tit, kneading it gently as he sucked on the nub.
You could feel your panties soaking at this point. Keigo likes to take his time and enjoy every inch of you. But you wanted him now, at this moment.
It's been years since you've had sex. But you haven't felt like this in... a long time. The heat from your desire taking over your brain.
"Kei," You moan softly as his wings expand.
"Yes?" His honey eyes are magnets to yours.
"I need you." You held yourself up but your forearms as you watch him slide his shirt over his head and wings. His abs were shining from the slight sweat leading down to his pants.
"These need to come off too." You pulled on his jeans.
"Are you sure? We don't have to. I don't want you to feel-"
"Keigo." You pressed his chin between your thumb and index finger so he had to look at you. "I said I need you."
Without another word his pants were off along with yours. You're both only in your underwear at this point but you can see his thick cock outline through the fabric.
He pulled his length out of his boxer briefs. Your eyes grew wide at his size, he wasn't overly big but he is thick.
"Do you have condoms?" His body hovered over yours.
"Yes." You grab the box out of your nightstand and pull one out, handing it to him. He slid it on quickly before kissing your lips gently.
"We don't have to do this."
"Keigo, I want to. Stop worrying." You hook your finger onto the lace of your underwear to pull them down.
He positioned himself in front of your soaking entrance. He locked his eyes with yours as he gently, inch by inch, slid his length into you.
Your pussy was wet and tight around his cock as it adjusted to his size. Your eyes rolled back as Keigo watched his length disappear inside of you.
Once he was all the way in, he developed his rhythm. His left arm was next to your head as he thrusted into you, his bicep caging you in. You bring your hand to the back of his head and tangle your fingers in his honey locks. He loved when you touched his hair - it made him want to pound into you even more.
"Fuck, Kei." Your pussy clenched around him. Your other hand landed on his back, your nails dragging along his skin leaving scratch marks. His strokes were deep as he almost slammed into you. He's quiet when he fucks apparently because you were the only one talking.
His pace quickened as he earned moans from your lips. He planted his mouth on your neck, sucking and biting simultaneously. There were no kisses, this man was straight up marking you.
You feel his cock twitch inside of you when he pounds into your pussy, assumingely because he's close. The thought of him coming sends your brain on a high. Your gummy walls pulsate around him as you came undone around him. He's still thrusting into you, focused on your face.
He kissed your lips roughly as he thrust into you one last time. He moans your name, finally speaking as he reaches his high.
He's still inside of you as you both come back down to earth. He reluctantly slides his cock out, then taking off the rubber.
He comes back from the bathroom with a towel as he lays next to you. No words were exchanged, but he was all smiles. He patted your sweaty skin with the towel as he kissed your forehead.
"Baby bird, you're gonna be the end of me."

holding you, holding me
⤷ enji todoroki x fem!reader
summary: No one said being a hero would be easy. Especially not with the title of Number One. Endeavor’s worked to the brink and comes home to his wife, doing what she can to comfort her husband the way he deserves.
tags: crossposted on ao3, fluff, domesticity, enji and rei are divorced and his children no longer live with him, hurt/comfort, nudity, no smut, sharing a shower

The bed creaked in protest under Enji’s weight as he sat on the end with a sigh, knees spread apart allowing himself to rest his forearms against them. His eyes were downcast towards the carpet as he stared at his feet.
Work had practically killed him today. For some reason, every villain within a 30-mile radius seemed to want to wreak havoc all at once. Of course, he knew as a hero, he didn’t get to complain.
He knew what he signed up for the day he decided to follow in his father's footsteps and join this line of work. He knew what he’d go through to bring safety to his country.
But still, he yearned for a break.
Feeling the mattress dip under your husband’s weight, you pushed yourself up to sleepily crawl towards him. This wasn’t a rare occurrence for you, seeing him come home late with shoulders as tense as boulders.
It never got any easier, having to wait here and watch him work himself to death, unable to take away his burdens. Not to mention the change in emotions. Enji was already a stoic and reserved man, but with all these immense stressors baring down on him, he became essentially emotionless.
Your knees pressed against Enji’s lower back, your covered chest following suit so you were able to gently bring your arms over his shoulders and connect near his pectorals.
“Bad day?” You questioned in a quiet voice, not wanting to disturb him with unnecessary volume.
Enji’s shoulders dropped slightly with a deep release of breath, the tension and stress he had been holding onto all day struggling to fade even with your comforting touch. His aching muscles reluctantly stretched when he brought a hand up to carefully hold onto your wrists, keeping your hands near him.
“You have no idea,” he muttered.
“It’s just one thing after another— I’m so damn tired.”
His stress was even evident in his voice, appearing deeper and huskier than usual.
You pressed your lips comfortingly on the back of his neck, resting your head there for a long moment for you both to soak up the physical affection. Your arms gently tightened around his broad shoulders— a consoling attempt at soothing him with reassurance that you were there for him, both physically and emotionally.
On bad days like this where Enji grew frustrated and closed off, it was best to let him decide if and when he wanted to open up. Therefore, you didn’t pry any deeper. That was his decision to make and his alone.
You knew his journey of self betterment wasn’t easy, especially considering all the guilt and pain he holds within himself— you did the best you could from an outside point of view to offer support on his terms.
“M’ sorry,” you murmured against his neck, your lips growing warm from his body heat.
At the press of your lips against his neck, his muscles relaxed and he allowed himself to lean back into you. The way your biceps flexed instinctively over his shoulders assured him that he was safe to melt into you— fully trusting you to hold his weight as you had done many times over. He stayed in this position for a few moments, eventually opening his eyes and leaning forward with a sigh.
“I think I’ll take a shower,” he finally spoke, his voice less strained than before, “care to join me?”
“Mhm.. course,” you hummed as he pulled away— his hand letting go of your wrists, allowing you to drag your hands back over his shoulders and give them a gentle squeeze before removing them altogether. You used Enji’s shoulder to push yourself off the bed and make your way over to your shared wardrobe.
You grabbed a clean pair of sweatpants for your husband to wear after his shower and folded them up, placing them next to him on the bed so he could easily change when he came out.
“Ready?” You asked, bringing him out of his thoughts by placing a hand on his cheek, your thumb gently caressing over his stubble— eyes kind as they stared into his from where you stood between his spread legs.
In your eyes, Enji saw the most love and adoration he had ever seen anyone look at him with. It was a strange sight, accompanied by the unfamiliar tightness in his stomach. It worried him at first.
Love was a foreign feeling for him and he accepted early on in his life that he would most likely never feel it, and just as easily, never receive it. But then you appeared. So suddenly and unexpectedly. You taught him how to feel and that it’s okay to feel in the first place.
Despite everything.
His eyes traveled up your frame as he reached forward, a large calloused hand gently resting on the curve of your hips. His thumb brushed back and forth on your smooth skin, the smooth texture somehow working to bring him back to reality.
“Yeah,” he responded quietly, tilting his head into her hand briefly, relishing in the affection he was starved of for so long. With a final squeeze to your hip, he guided you back so he could stand to his full height and stretch his tired bones.
A smile spread across your face, watching him grunt and groan when his back popped.
“Careful, old man,” you teased him, “we wouldn’t want you breaking anything.”
This earned a well deserved glare from over his shoulder, something you couldn’t help but laugh at. At the beginning of your relationship, you couldn’t imagine joking with him like this. He was still somewhat closed off when you met.
But now, you don’t need to worry about a filter for your words. He loved every bit of you, including the bold way you spoke.
Once you both made it into the master bathroom, you turned your back to Enji and began taking off your jewelry whilst he turned on the water and set the temperature.
The only reason it wasn’t scalding, was because you were here. Not everyone can withstand molten.
“Come here,” you said softly, turning to face him and holding your hand out, palm up. His hand fit into yours like a puzzle piece despite the difference in size. You complimented each other in a way.
Slipping off his wedding band, you set it next to your own on the counter— making sure to place it in the decorative jewelry dish by the sink. You had lost an earring down the drain once before, so now neither of you took any chances.
The next few moments were spent undressing with interrupted glances at each other’s bodies. You both knew that sex was out of the question tonight as he was too exhausted, but that didn’t mean you couldn’t admire the beauty your husband presented.
“Is that new?” You asked, pointing to a never before seen scar right on his elbow— almost completely out of sight.
”Yes. I think it was a month ago from the villain who could manipulate metal,” he explained calmly, knowing you were just worried about him.
He wasn’t used to that either. Even after being together for this long, he wasn’t used to being fussed over. He was raised to take care of himself and that worries like these were pathetic. He silently thanks his children every day for teaching him differently.
You as well. Oh, what would he do without you?
”Well, I’m just glad you’re alright,” you replied with a smile, brushing your hand over the scar. Yes, you worried over him. It was only natural— but he could handle himself, and if there was something seriously wrong, he would tell you.
You trusted him like no other.
During your shower together— you held him in your arms before any washing could partake. The water beat down on his back while the warmth of his body made up for the lack of steaming water on yours.
You washed his hair for him, and helped him scrub his back and his arms while he rinsed out the shampoo from his hair. Then he did the same to you.
If someone had told Enji that he would have a chance to experience this level of domesticity and affection years ago, he would’ve never believed them.
Probably accusing them of being a villain. Poor hypothetical citizen.
Enji dressed himself in the bedroom while you stayed in the bathroom to take care of your hair, running the blow dryer for a limited amount of time so as to not be too loud and disturb the peace.
Once you were finished, you folded your towel and tossed it into the hamper along with yours and Enji’s clothes. You didn’t shy away from being nude around your husband— not having any reason to. You were both adults and have seen the ugliest parts of each other. Why not show off the beautiful?
“Let me help,” Enji’s deep voice finally reached your ears when he watched you approach your lotions sitting on top of your dresser.
“It’s okay, honey. You don’t have to,” you spoke to him reassuringly, really not wanting to make him feel entitled to help you. He was way more stressed than you have ever been, he deserved to rest.
“I want to.”
His assurance was firm— he wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
“You’ve done so much for me, it is my turn to return the favor.”
That was one of Enji’s flaws. He always felt like he had to pay people back when they offered him help, even if he never asked for it. He didn’t like feeling like he was in debt to people. He wanted to help. His job was to help. Not be helped.
A small smile spread across your lips and you nodded once to him, giving in and accepting his offer.
He ended up on his knee before your spot at the end of the mattress— insisting you settle your foot against his lower thigh so he could rub the lotion into your legs more efficiently.
His hands were strong and heavy upon your skin. His warmth combined with the rare softness the lotion gave him was almost heavenly.
While you were nowhere near as active as he was, you still spent your days on your feet— ending them with your calves sore and thighs slightly burning— and not the good kind of burning.
It was then that you realized the reason Enji had offered to do this in the first place. He knew that. He notices the way you lean against the kitchen counter when you think he isn’t looking. He knew how sore you were because he saw those same mannerisms in himself.
”Oh so you’re sneaky now,” you said in a mockingly accusatory tone, rolling your eyes at the way he glanced up at you— giving you nothing but a sly smile to go off of.
Either way, you were stuck now. The roles have been reversed and there was no fixing it until he decided he was finished.
Admittedly, being under the covers with Enji could sometimes be a pain— considering how warm he was. But it was a cold night tonight. Cold enough to give you a perfect excuse to huddle up in your husband’s strong arms and hide your face against his chest.
It was intimate, in a sense. The lights were off, only having the occasional glare of moonlight through the window— legs and arms tangled with Enji’s low breaths and hushed snores adding ambiance.
The sounds of him did wonders in lulling you to sleep. You even believed the calm atmosphere to affect your dreams.
You haven’t had a nightmare in years.
Thanks to Enji.

Okay okay, time for me to word vomit an idea:
So imagine that after Dabi does his whole vengeful arc, kills dozens of people and publicly calls out Enji's abusive ass, my man just gets caught by the cops and he's like put in a psychiatric hospital (because obviously Enji pulled some strings to save his son from death row to ease his own guilt).
Anyways, Dabi is like majorly depressed obviously and he's like "well, I've done everything I wanted to, so I might as well off myself" and cue reader's entry.
So basically, reader could be a nurse/doctor(NOT A PSYCHIATRIST) and she's all warm and fuzzy and a literal Ray of sunshine and Dabi hates her, but he doesn't give a crap atm.
And like everytime Dabi tries to kill himself, reader is there to stop him. It obviously started with "nooo, please don't kill yourself🥺 you are precious🥺🥺" to reader just swooping in and foiling his plans like "can you not die during my shift? I need an early night off🥱". Dabi is actively trying to kill himself, like he's standing on the ledge to jump, and reader is tackling him down and then punching him for making you run all the way up to the roof.
And like reader is bandaging him up with great gentleness and care and Dabi is staring at her being all close to him (he is mesmerised), and he goes-
"I'll be successful in my suicide one day."
And you just smile and shake your head. "Not as long as I'm praying." And at first, Dabi is super annoyed because he's think you're into the whole religious mumbo jumbo, but he actually caught you one day praying (insert whatever religion) and he's bewitched by the sincerity you pray for his (and others) well being. As if you believed with your whole heart that someone up there is listening to you.
He doesn't know what or when exactly he fell for you, but he did. And he decides that he'll confess to you after he gets out of psychiatric hospital (after tugging at Rei's and Enji's heart strings and them using money and influence to free their menace son). After spending 6 years in the hospital, 6 years where you were the only one who truly cared for him, he'll finally confess to you.
But then you don't come. Not even the next day, or the week after that. Turns out, you left your job.
Out of the blue? Dabi's suspicions rose.
He got out of the hospital and began doing his own research on you until he found your address and well... he sort of came in unannounced (look he knocked, you didn't answer, so he melted the lock and let himself in. At least he came in bearing flowers and wine).
He wasn't expecting you to be at home, but there you were, lying in your bed, a little too still for someone to be asleep.
He throws the covers off you, eyes narrowing on the red stains on your sheet before moving to your bleeding wrists.
Dabi's world stops, every cell in his body stops before every fiber in his being screams and makes him move. He doesn't check for pulse, doesn't check if you're still breathing, perhaps he'd die himself if he didn't like the answer he found. He picks you up and immeadiately goes to the nearest hospital, which fortunately was near.
While you were being operated on, Dabi sat outside, heart thumping as he prayed to whatever deity you did.
Please... not yet.
His prayers were answered as tge doctors told him that you're going to be alright... physically that is. Mentally? Well, Dabi is about to figure it out.
He sat by your side waiting for you to wake up. When you finally did, he saw how different you looked. Obviously he had noticed that you were physically weak, but your eyes... they lost their shine.
Your eyes turned to confusion when you looked at him. "D-Dabi? What are you-"
"I found you." That was enough for you to put together what he meant. You turned your eyes away from him, ashamed.
"Why?" He asks in a quiet tone. "What made you do it?"
"My choices." You whispered. "Bad decisions in the past."
Dabi wanted to pry more out of you, but he knew you wouldn't explain more. So, he takes matter into his own hands and leaves the hospital, telling you that he needs to run some errands, but he's actually going back to your apartment and starts rummaging through your stuff to find some clues as to what exactly caused you to do this.
He didn't have to look around too much because he found your phone and snooped through your messages. Someone was blackmailing you. They had some explicit pictures of you, seems like a toxic ex who was threatening to share these photos with your family and social circle.
So Dabi pays a visit to your ex, takes care of him and the pictures he had, making sure to get rid of all the copies too. All in a day!
By night he had returned to the hospital, you were asleep. He slept there too, in the uncomfortable hospital chair, heart at peace as he watched your chest rise and fall steadily.
Next morning, when it was time for you to leave, Dabi helped you and took you home. You thanked him for everything, and Dabi made sure to tell you that he'll be picking you up for lunch later. You agreed hesitantly. And at lunch, he finally revealed that he came to you because he wanted to ask you out.
You look surprised, more so when he reveals that he had fancied you for a while and that he understands that relationships might not be a priority for you at the moment but-
"I understand if dating is not a priority for you right now but if you ever do consider falling in love, know that I've been on the top of your wait list for the past 6 years and will wait another lifetime if that's all the time you need."
You're in tears at his words, and you have a hard time not breaking down as he takes your hands in his, his thumbs carefully tracing over your bandaged wrists as he promises to wait by your side, that he'll always be there to help you with anything, that if you gave him a chance, he'll spend the rest of his life trying to make you happy.
"Dabi, i- I am not good for you." You say, voice wobbly. "My past, it'll always haunt me and I care too much about you to let it haunt you as well."
"Your ex? His pictures?" He asked watching shock appear on your face. "You won't ever have to worry about him, Y/n."
You shook off your surprise. "That's not it. It's not the only problem I have!"
"Then tell me. I'll fix all of your problems." Dabi promises with such sincerity that you're compelled to believe him.
You don't tell him obviously, saying that it is your burden, your mess to deal with. Dabi doesn't push more, only because he knows he'll figure it out later anyways. Hey, he may be a criminal but he was once the son of the top hero who trained him, so Dabi's IQ is through the fucking roof.
And a man in love has no limitations.
Had a DUI? He deals with it. Parents disowned you? He'll make them regret it. Killed someone? He'll make sure you have an alibi to prove your innocence. Cheated off a test in grade 2? He'll make sure there are no witnesses alive. He'll burn the world- burn himself if it means keeping you warm.
You don't wanna date a criminal? Fine, he's working a cooperate job and since he's so smart, he'll be a fucking CEO in no time and have enough money and time to spend on you. Youre crying because you feel ugly when you see your scars? Dabi makes sure to kiss them every day and pulls out his turtleneck (aka the trademark Todoroki fit) for you, while he buys the best treatment money can buy for your scars. Mental health is going down? He's taking you to the best therapist in town. You're sad he's an atheist because it means you won't be with him in heaven? Damn, he's a convert now.
I just adore men in love :(
Tumblr media
Okay but I don't think we're focusing on how scary smart Dabi actually is😳😳😳 I just know it, I KNOW he's super smart but he downplays it all the time because he's depressed or whatever.

how about a canon divergence where Dabi didn't have to deal with the humiliation of sharing his deepest traumas in an effort to make the general public be more critical of the heroes and wasn't as a result condemned for his sincerity and made a scapegoat not only for the Todoroki family but now for the entire Japan.
let his plan be more refined than traumadumping on tv and don't make him paint a giant target on his own back he will never be able to get rid off by revealing his identity to everyone. let him act according to his knowledge of endeavor and manipulate him, let his plan have an end goal and not be a last desperate scream for sympathy and attention to the horrors he went through.
say, instead of a broadcast he releases a video on an online platform. in that video he starts telling the life story of Todoroki Touya, Endeavor's eldest son who disappeared under mysterious circumstances. he says that ten years ago he found that little boy all alone, crying his eyes out on Sekoto peak. that boy was so pathetically lonely and desperate for validation he told him his entire life story. little Touya was so heartbroken he said that Endeavor abandoned him, didn't want to have a son he couldn't train to become a hero, his quirk and body incompatible, set up from the start by unfortunate quirk marriage. he begged Dabi to kill him. and so he did just that. the oh so fast and efficient number two hero was so slow to the rescue of his own son, by the time he got there only ashes remained of him, and oh how loudly Touya screamed for him...
Dabi has white hair in that video. it's a challenge - one he knows Enji won't take. he knows that his death was a mystery no one has been able to solve, and he presents an answer. it's a lie, of course, but it still hurts seeing how eagerly Endeavor jumps at the offered out. well, at least his little stunt gave even more publicity to the League, propelling him from a nobody of a villain to the one number two hero has personal vendetta with. the attention is nice, really.
when he comes to take the noumu and Endeavor almost kills him on sight, he almost chokes himself on his laughter without any help from his father.
'i will tell you a secret, Endeavor. not even Shigaraki knows this, so consider yourself special', he drawls and points to the noumu's charred remains. 'these things, you know what they're made of? top secret info, right here!'.
he takes his sweet time making a pause for dramatic effect, his insides fluttering at the look of pure hatred on his father's burned, bleeding face.
'the raw material is children with strong quirks. Touya was quite a find, you know!'.
he can't help grinning at how quickly anger transforms into shock.
'he is... alive?' the unbelieving, earnest hope that Enji can't contain despite his caution makes his glee turn sour.
Dabi wants to spread his arms wide, do a twirl, maybe, push his hair away from his face. 'Look at me, Endeavor!' he wants to scream at his father, an ancient unanswered prayer to his idol, 'look at me and see me!'.
the fight in him is gone. he shrugs, and calls for Ujiko.
'dunno', he replies to Enji before leaving. 'far as i know they're still keeping him'.
later, when when a visibly ruffled Shigaraki asks him why is he doing this to himself, Dabi bites on his tongue but can't hide the steam that starts coming out of his seams. he still does a good job of pretending to be unbothered and with all of Compress' flair says:
'why, it's all for the sake of the League's glory, of course'.
Shigaraki, in turn, doesn't even bother hiding his expressive eye roll.

New Baby Pt. 1 | Yandere!Todoroki Family x Reader
Tumblr media
Inspo: @i-cant-sing
You weren't woken up by the familiar sound of a heart monitor or the chatter of nurses. You were woken by something much more unexpected.
You felt the sun's shining warmth against your face. Someone was gently attempting to shake you awake. Their hand felt huge in comparison to your shoulder and you fought to get yourself to wake up.
"(Y/N), it's time to wake up now." A deep voice told you when you let out a tired whine.
Finally, your body cooperated and allowed you to flutter your eyes open.
You immediately took in the stranger sitting in the bed beside you, then the pastel bed sheets and the feeling of silk pajamas that you definitely weren't wearing the day before.
You scrambled back in shock, your mind screaming danger.
This wasn't the hospital and the red-haired man sitting in front of you was neither a nurse or a doctor that you recognized, and he wasn't wearing anything that told you he was a medical professional.
He didn't seem very shocked at your behavior either, just a little worried.
"Who are you?!" You asked, now standing at the opposite side of the queen sized bed you'd just been sleeping in, "And where am I?! This isn't the hospital!"
Your heart rate was picking up and your chest was beginning to hurt. You knew that you needed to sit down but how could you when you'd just woken up in a strange place with a strange man?
The man didn't answer either of your questions, only glancing at you in concern, "I'll answer your questions, but you need to sit down and lower your heart rate before you pass out."
How did he know about your heart condition, you wondered. Was he actually a nurse?
No, that couldn't be right.
You were very obviously in someone's house; most likely his.
Taking a deep breath to calm yourself, you asked again, "Who are you and where am I?"
You could tell the man wasn't happy about you not sitting down but he relented, "My name is Todoroki Enji, but you will address me as 'dad'. And we're in your room in our home."
You faltered at the new information and shook your head like it was reflex, "You... you're not my dad though. My dad looks nothing like you... What's happening?" Tears welled in your eyes, anxiety springing back into your body, "I want my mom! Please take me back to her!" You pleaded.
Enji only sighed, softly shaking his head, "I know this a lot to take in, but this is your home now. Your biological parents decided to leave you in our care-"
"No!" You snapped, "No, they didn't! We were supposed to go to the movies today!" You recalled the day prior and gripped at the silk cloth over your chest, heart drumming and chest beginning to grow tight, "Tak-" You gasped out, "Take me to my parents! Right now! Right now! Right now!"
Enji stood up at your screeching and your voice got caught in your throat.
He was so large and intimidating. He could probably kill you with ease.
And having that knowledge in mind had you second-guessing if you could just scream your way out of this situation.
"(Y/N), I will not tolerate this behavior. Either you calm yourself down or you can take a nap and we can try again later. What will it be?" He questioned.
Oh, how you really did want to calm yourself, but how could you?
It felt like someone was squeezing your chest like a tube of toothpaste. No matter how hard you tried to take a deep breath, your lungs remained clamped shut like a clam.
Heart drumming in your ears, your sight blurred significantly and spots began to decorate the fuzzy world around you.
Next thing you knew, your knees buckled from beneath and you dropped to the ground like a ragdoll.
Enji cursed under his breath, strolling around the bed and settling you back under the pastel comforter.
He knew you wouldn't take any of this easily, you were young after all, younger than Shoto, now that he was thinking about it.
But he was sure that once you met the rest of the family, you would warm up to them in no time.
Once he made sure that you were sound asleep, he left your room and was immediately greeted by the rest of his family gazing at him expectantly.
Shoto glanced up from his phone, "That didn't sound too good." He commented.
Rei stepped forward, hand clutched to her chest worriedly, "Is my baby okay? She sounded so upset."
With a nod, Enji explained that your first awakening went just as smoothly as he thought it would, "I'll make sure to show her the 'letter' her parents left for her. Hopefully, she'll be more at ease around us thinking that her parents really did leave her in our care."
Rei gave an agreeing nod, "Absolutely, anything to get her to trust us."
Natsuo grumbled, clearly frustrated, "Damn, I was really hoping we could meet her today and have dinner together like a family."
Fuyumi kept a hopeful smile on her face, "Don't worry, she'll be ready tomorrow and we can have a nice breakfast together! Right, dad?"
"Of course. (Y/N) is the key to fixing our broken family. She'll be ready tomorrow." He said knowingly.
They quietly left your door, leaving you to sleep for the rest of the day.
You'd need your energy for tomorrow.

born to die.
⊹ ࣪ in which touya todoroki was born to die.
⤷ masterlist ; requests open
Tumblr media
enji todorokis first mistake was marrying based on quirk.
his second, was touya todoroki.
a fire burning hotter than his father’s, and a body running colder than his mothers.
it was as if he was born to die.
“y’know,” the voice murmured, and in the dim light of the bathroom, you felt like you were hallucinating. your boyfriend sat on the edge of the tub, the air heavy with the scent of burnt flesh and antiseptic. his body was a canvas of agony, a tapestry of third-degree burns, scattered like cruel constellations across his already scarred and tortured skin. “you don't have to do this.”
you knelt beside him, touch gentle but firm, pinning his limbs down everytime he jolted or moved away. “y’know.” you shot back, dipping a cloth into a bowl of ice water, before pressing it down on a particularly angry burn on his abdomen. “i want to do this.”
you bit your lip as dabi winced, a low whine escaping his lips as he white knuckled the tub. his eyes never strayed from yours, the blue reminiscent of the flames that did this to him piercing straight into your soul. his breath was ragged, as if he was forcing himself to breathe, and you couldn't help but worry.
“so, what happened this time?” you asked, as dabi fidgeted and fiddled with your hands, a silent demand for you to hold his.  you took it in yours and pressed a kiss to his knuckle, his fingertips, his palms. anywhere you could reach.
he grunted, shifting uncomfortably, and in the pale light, you could see the flush on his face. “had a bit of a run in with endeavor’s sidekicks,” dabi admitted, and before you could ask—
“don't worry, i got out fine. just a few burns. nothing major.”
“just a few burns?”
“yeah. just a few,” he retorted, but you could sense his tenseness. “i’ve had far worse than this,”
you knew him well—and you knew he only ever grew tense with his emotions when you started questioning. but you couldn't help yourself.
“touya, please,” you pleaded, tugging on his hands. to your surprise, he relented, sighing as he leaned down. his forehead met yours, the intimacy of the moment not escaping either of you. “tell me the truth.” you demanded.
“...i was careless.”
you knew he hated to admit it, but you knew better too. this was his coping mechanism, one not only unhealthy, but toxic. he sounded pained just to say those words, as if it was a confession he would rather die than make.
“i saw him on patrol, and i—i just got irrationally angry.” dabi murmured, and you squeezed his hands in sympathy. “i made the first move, i charged in without a plan or even thinking. im just lucky he was more focused on protecting the civilians than me.” his eyes met yours, and you could see the anguish in those pools of sapphire. “i shouldn’t have done that. im an idiot.”
he didn't have to say his name. you understood. you always did, and always would. this wasn't the first time he had lost his cool after seeing his father wandering the streets on patrol, the man who ruined his life without lifting a finger.
“dont– dont die on me,” you murmured, pulling down his head to press a small kiss on his lips. “i don't know what i’d do.”
“im not gonna die,” dabi hissed, tugging his hands away from you to bring them to your face.
his touch had always been warm—comforting and inviting, yet dangerous and destructive. he could kill you in an instant, burning your body hotter than you could comprehend, charring your body and blood to ash in a fraction of a second.
somehow, you didn't seem to mind.
your face burned as dabi pressed his forehead against yours, blue eyes burning a hole through you. “i’d be crazy to let death take me before i marry you, love.”
marry… me?
dabi rolled his eyes, a huff of amusement escaping his lips as you stared up at him in shock. “are you deaf, sugar?“ he teased.
the flush on your face burned brighter, as dabi grinned back at you, before suddenly pulling you up from your crouch. in your surprise, you fell onto his lap as he balanced on the tub edge, hands bracing his scarred shoulders. he wrapped his hands around your waist, legs caging him in on either side. “im saying,” he murmured, lips brushing against yours, “im planning to marry you.”
“n if it were up to me i’d marry you right now.” his teeth snagged your bottom lip, biting down gently on the soft flesh. he soothed it with a kiss, before his words came in a low, seductive whisper. “i’d have you wearing my ring, and my name. no one could touch you.” his eyes darkened, teeth scraping against your earlobe.
“..really?”
dabi nodded against your neck, lips brushing against your exposed skin. “absolutely,” he muttered, placing open mouthed kisses along the column of your throat. “id give you everything you ever dreamed of,” dabi whispered.
you shuddered, hands tangling into his messy, haphazard hair. one of his hands strayed to your waist, pulling at the hem of your shirt as his mouth found its way to the sensitive dip just below your jaw—
“– touya!”
“sorry, sorry, baby.”
dabi winced, pulling away from your neck as you pulled particularly hard on the bandage you were wrapping him with. “watch it sweetheart,” he muttered, as you gave him a disapproving frown. “you might be my next burn victim.”
“it’s your own fault for getting injured,” you muttered, ignoring his empty threats and finishing the last of your wrapping, securing the ends by tucking it in, and under.
dabi rolled his eyes, gingerly picking at the ends of his bandages. “you worry too much,” he mumbled, “i’ve been doing this for years. its nothing i can’t handle.”
“you’re literally falling apart at the seams, love.”
“like i said, nothin’ i cant handle.”
a frown found itself on your face, as your fingers wrapped around his bandaged wrist. you felt him tense for a moment under your touch, and in the dim lighting of the bathroom you could see his adam’s apple bob as he swallowed. letting go, you reached for another roll of bandages, starting on the large wound on his calf.
“i know,” you said softly, “but im still going to worry about you.” your thumb brushed against his pulse, the beat of his life steady against the pad of your thumb.
dabi groaned, head falling back against the tub. “gods,” he muttered, blue eyes meeting yours. “you’re not gonna drop it, are you?” you shook your head, and he let out a long, exasperated groan.
he let go of you, and you tumbled to the ground with a dramatic groan. “you’re the most stubborn man i’ve ever met,” dabi muttered, as you rolled your eyes fondly.
"and you love me for it." you rummaged through the first aid kit "now don't move, i have to sew you up."
his eyes watched you work, admiring the way you moved with practiced ease. your hands, though they were shaking slightly, pulled the needle through his burnt flesh with the precision of a surgeon. one that specialized in over the counter bathroom surgeries.
“so,” your boyfriend drawled, pointedly ignoring your words as his fingers tracing invisible patterns across your shoulders. “about that proposal–”
“what about it?”
dabi rolled his eyes at your dry response. “come on, sugar,” he teased, “dont be so cold on me. just imagine it. y/n todoroki.” he grinned at the way you froze under his gaze. “you’d love it. everyone would know whose husband you are. everyone would see the ring on your pretty fingers, and know that you’re mine.”
“and just imagine, waking up next to me every day,” dabi murmured, pulling your chin to his. his lips brushed against yours as you stared at him, frozen in shock and disbelief. “we’d have a big house, with plenty of extra room for kids...”
your heart pounded in your ears, but dabi only smirked at the clear effect he had on you. “you'd be a great parent,” he whispered, lips ghosting along the crown of your head.
you shut your eyes and turned away from him, clenching the needle tightly as if it was your lifeline. you wanted nothing more to fulfill that wish of his. dabi– no, touya, didn't ask for much, if anything, and you felt like you owed it to him after sticking by your side for so long.
“be quiet and let me do my job.”
dabi tensed as the needle sank into his skin, a low hiss of pain escaping his lips. despite the pain, however, he continued to watch you. “y’know,,” he muttered once you finished the first stitch, “i was planning to do some elaborate proposal,” he murmured.
the needle pulled through, and you tied off the stitch. “what kind?” you murmured, moving to the next injury.
dabi shuddered at the prick of the needle, eyes falling close as he thought. “well...,” he began, voice low. “probably a big gathering of everyone we knew... and then i’d get down on one knee—”
“i’m pretty sure you’d never do that,” you muttered, pulling the thread tight just to hear him hiss in pain. “it hurts me just thinking about it.”
dabi scowled, shoving you teasingly. “i would!”
“you’d probably propose to me in the middle of a battle, love.”
dabi snorted. “how did you know?”
he yelped as you tightened the thread to a borderline excessive tension, shooting you a glare through squinted eyes. “i’d be on the ground, at all those stupid heroes’ feet, you standing next to me. i’d turn to you, and say in my loudest villain voice, ‘will you marry me?’” you couldn’t help but giggle.
“and then everyone would watch you say yes,” he grinned, blue eyes gleaming. “and all those heroes would know you’re my everything.”
he paused, looking off into the distance. “id take you back to the league’s hideout,” dabi mused, eyes meeting yours. “take care of you then, kiss you till you’re breathless,” his fingers traced the curve of your cheek.
“you’d wear something pretty,” he said softly, thumb brushing along your lower lip. “and we’d spend that night together. i’d kiss every inch of you, worship you.”
you knew he was getting far too into the scene from the flush of his cheeks, but couldn’t find it in you to stop. it was far too interesting, listening to his ideas. “quit it, love.”
dabi pouted at your demand, but obligingly stopped all movement. you grinned, satisfied, and went back to work. humming a song to fill the silence, it wasn’t long until dabi joined in. his deep voice rumbled in his chest, making your own hum shudder and stutter.
you finished the last stitch, tying it in a neat bow before clipping the excess string. dabi grinned as your fingers brushed against uninjured skin, a shiver running down his spine.
smiling softly, you laid your head on his knee, tracing the shapes of the burns on his hand with care. “i love you,” you whispered, hoping he heard the depths at which you meant it.
dabi didn’t reply for a long moment. instead, you felt him lift you up and press his lips against the crown of your head. “i don’t think,” he mumbled, “you get how much i love you.”
“but im going to spend every day of our lives together to show you,” dabi muttered. “you’re mine, and i will do everything i can to make you happy.” he pressed another kiss to your temple, eyes closing as he breathed you in.
“you want to travel the world?” he whispered, lips brushing against your hair. you shifted to sit on his leg, resting your head on the space between his shoulder and head.
“I’ll take you to france, and italy.” he muttered, eyes opening to meet yours.
“i’ll buy you all those pretty dresses and shoes,” his hands roamed under your shirt, his touch leaving goosebumps in their wake. “and you’d be so gorgeous in them…”
“–can we go to the states?”
dabi raised an eyebrow at you, amusement dancing in his eyes. “you want to go to that hellhole?”
you nodded enthusiastically, eyes sparkling with excitement. dabi shrugged, pulling you closer to him as he continued listing off places. “then we’ll go to hawaii,” dabi declared. “i’ll buy you a nice little swimming costume, and we can eat those… what are they called. pineapples.”
“..pineapples?”
“yeah, the little yellow fruits.” dabi grinned, a sparkle of mischief in his eyes. “we’ll spend all day on the beach, lying in the sand…” his mouth descended to the space between your neck and shoulder, pressing a gentle kiss to your skin. “we’ll drink those little cocktails. and at night,” his voice dropped to a low murmur, “i’ll make you scream till your hoarse.”
“you’re gross.”
dabi merely raised an eyebrow, fingers dancing along your skin in a way that had your heart rate stuttering. “i promise you, sugar,” he muttered, “you wouldn’t be saying that at all in my hypothetical scenario.”
you rolled your eyes, holding up his hands to fidget with the metal embedded into his skin. “is that so?”
dabi flashed a mischievous smirk, hands slipping under your shirt to run up the expanse of your skin. “yes,” he murmured softly, teeth grazing against the skin of your neck, “it just might convince you to marry me.”
you felt yourself flush, heat filling your cheeks at the implication. dabi knew exactly what he was doing to you, you thought, as he continued to trail his fingers up and down your stomach. he had you pinned underneath him, his weight pressing tantalisingly against you. dabi was so close, and yet not nearly close enough.
“maybe instead of daydreamin’ about travelin’ the world, we should settle down here, for once.” you murmur against his skin. “maybe get an apartment. or somethin’”
dabi hummed as his mouth roamed just along the underside of your jaw, teeth nipping at your earlobe. “yeah?” he murmured, hand moving to rest on your waist. he nuzzled into the crook of your neck, lips brushing delicately against your skin.
“i’d like that,” he mumbled, and you felt more than heard the admission against your skin. “i’d like that alot.”
“no more living in the hovel that is this bar,” dabi muttered as he pressed a kiss to your chin. “no more having to be quiet when we’re alone together…” he pressed a kiss under your jaw, mouth trailing down the column of your throat.
he hummed against your adam’s apple, sending a shiver down your spine. “we should get a place with a big window…” dabi murmured, breath hot against your skin. he moved to press kisses along your collarbone. “--why so?”
dabi pulled his mouth away from your skin, moving up to look at you. his eyes were dark as he looked at you, voice low and husky as he responded. “so then i can have breakfast waiting on the table in front of it.. and i can see you slowly waking up as you drink your coffee,” he muttered, kissing every place he could reach.
“still hazy under the sun…” dabi pulled away to press another kiss to your jaw. “and i can kiss you against the window.”
“and if anyone’s looking,” dabi said teasingly, eyes gleaming as he looked up at you through his lashes. “they can see you belong to me, sugar.”
you let his words hang, content with the silence that filled the room. you don't know how many times you’ve found yourself in the league’s bathroom, tending to your boyfriend's wounds. but this time, you felt it was different. that maybe this might be the last time.
“would you let me?”
“would i let you do what?”
dabi shifted slightly, his mouth moving to that sweet spot behind your ear. “put a ring on your finger,” he said lowly, voice low and deep, “and promise to worship you forever till we’re old.”
one of his hands trailed up your shirt, tracing the contours of your side as he gently pressed open mouthed kisses to your skin.
“i think id rather shoot myself than get married to a bitch like you.” you hum, moving your head so he could get better access to your neck. he smelled good. burnt, but good. you’d have to ask him if you could use his body wash sometime.
dabi’s mouth moved up to bite at your lob, his teeth pulling deliciously at your skin. “im not kidding, sugar,” he murmured, voice low and gravely. “you’d be the only person in the whole world who would get a ring from me. and you’d be the only person i’d ever kneel for.”
you stopped at that. “not– not even shigiraki? or stain ? or even all for one?” is this guy out of his mind?
dabi’s lips quirked up, and you could see the edge of a mocking smile. “no,” he muttered, one hand traveling up to tilt your face to his. “just you.” he flashed a small smile, his lips brushing against yours. “the only person worth kneeling for.”
“..then why are you part of the league? just for fun?”
dabi huffed out a laugh, rolling off of you and onto the empty space beside you. “well,” he murmured, voice low and slightly raspy. “you have to work for those expensive vacations, sugar. a man can dream.”
he flashed a grin as your face lit up with laughter, pulling you into his chest. “don’t laugh like that,” he muttered against your skin. “ill get addicted.”
you let out a laugh at his admission, fingers tangling into the strands of his hair. “then get addicted,” you murmured, voice low as you pressed a kiss to his lips.
dabi hummed, his arms wrapping around you and pulling you tightly against him. “i already am,” he muttered, teeth nipping at your lower lip.
“you’re everything i’ve wanted, sugar,” dabi whispered lowly, one hand tangling in your hair as he pulled you onto his lap. “and everything ive needed.” he pulled you into another dizzying kiss, all tongue and teeth.
his hands roamed all over your body, fingers tracing every dip and slope of skin he could reach as he kissed you till you were breathless.
and then there was no more talking. just lips against lips, and heat in the cool, dark night.
it was a transformation, a revelation. under the layers of pain and trauma, was the heart of a boy desperately craving love and acceptance. and now, finally, he had found it in you.

𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 : 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐢 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐨 𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫
𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: 1.7k of unedited alien prince shouto thoughts based on this post from the other day! sfw, gender neutral reader. several elements of this universe were borrowed from my fave sci-fi novel; see end notes for deets!
Tumblr media
he's beautiful—the todoroki prince. tall and strong in his high-collared uniform, strapped with lean muscle and handsomely humanoid. he's the first thing that snares your gaze as your party is guided into the hall of the sun—the reception dome that overlooks the rise of the star yuuei in the morning sky, used by the ruling family to receive visiting dignitaries.
it is morning, in endeavorian planetary time, and the sun has begun to rise. its light is weaker than you remember from back home—almost watery, pooling like quicksilver in the panes of the dome's ceiling.
up at the front of the hall, it catches in the strands of the white half of the prince's hair. from what izuku has told you, it's the half that indicates he's part of the himura bloodline. the himura dynasty has ruled the yuuei system from its capital planet of endeavor iv for tens of thousands of earth-years. it's the second longest line of unbroken rulers in mapped galactic history, an impressive feat.
the other half of the prince's hair is a fiery red, like that of the man who stands next to him—todoroki enji, the general of intergalactic renown, who donated half of prince shouto's genome as well as his clan name. each time a himuran royal from the main line marries, izuku had explained, talking at lightspeed in the podship, they take a branch name, typically sourced from the primary gene-donator. it helps keep inheritance lines clear.
prince shouto looks like he's inherited empress rei and todoroki enji's genes in exactly half—his coloring split down the middle, though his features are perfectly, almost hauntingly symmetrical. he wears a pin of flint at his collar that symbolizes his gender—one of yuuei's thirteen official designations. from what you understand from izuku, it most closely aligns with earth designation "man".
it's embarrassing how much you notice about the prince as you file into the hall, stationing yourself right at the gap between izuku and tenya's shoulders, so you can still see todoroki shouto.
"you don't think they'll reject the treaty and kill us all, do you?" denki mumurs nervously as he presses in behind you.
"no, i don't think so," izuku's gentle voice drifts back to you. he's a three-star ethnologist, studying for a command ethnology post. subsequently he's the most informed of any of the cadets that have been sent along with the treatise party. you and denki are just mechanics, sent along in case anything goes wrong.
"the alliance would be too much trouble for the yuuei," izuku explains. "they have good relations with the surrounding galaxies and tight control over a lot of resources. but the alliance is really large now, compared to the last time they approached the yuuei. they'll likely want to accept at least a loose federation with the allies."
up on the platform at the front of the hall, prince shouto blinks long and slow, like an earth cat. you realize with a start it's the first time you've seen him blink at all, and the subtle reminder that he is not just an extraordinarily handsome human man but the prince of an alien species makes your skin prickle.
"don't you think it's weird they are all this pretty?" denki asks. "it's weird, right?"
"definitely weird," you laugh, your eyes trailing over prince shouto's blade-straight nose, his pert, perfect mouth. "possibly illegal under intergalatic law."
prince shouto stills all of a sudden, and there is the tiniest tilt of his head. two heterochromatic eyes flick over your way, and you are completely embarrassed by the way your stomach swoops in response. you just manage not to grab onto tenya's uniform to steady yourself.
one of the prince's eyebrow arches almost imperceptibly, and you wonder if he's heard you from this distance—but no, that would be insane.
denki picks up his commentary, emboldened by your playing along. you think the prince's eyes linger just a little too long on the gap between izuku and tenya's shoulders, but then you're distracted by the reception beginning.
the alliance treaty officer strides forward, flanked by a few of the other officials your crew had ferried here. she performs an elaborate bow, as do the other officials. from izuku's muttering you gather it's some sort of ritualistic greeting, and empress rei at least looks pleased with it, waving a gentle hand to gesture the party forward.
there is some shuffling as various aides set up a table and a series of holo-tablets, along with various inks, a leathery roll of endeavorian traditional parchment, and—
"is that a knife?" you ask, peering at the long obsidian blade placed on the table in front of the officials.
izuku's fluffy head of green curls inclines. "treaties are sealed twice. once in the alliance fashion and then again in the local custom, to make it binding per both systems. blood pacts have been used in yuuei for millennia."
the brush of something over your face has your gaze turning back to the prince—to find him staring straight at you, those unblinking eyes boring into you.
"izuku, weird question. can the yuuei hear across rooms?" you ask, suddenly self-conscious.
a green eye peers back at you. "only in the event of their pair bonds—the yuuei are documented hearing their matepair across approximately ten earth-kilometers. i think we're safe over here though. why?"
matepair. the world settles strangely under your skin, as the prince's eyes brush across it.
"uh, matepair?" you echo.
tenya gives both you and izuku a quelling look, but it's not enough to deter izuku from ducking down to explain in slightly quieter tones. "the yuuei look human but they pair differently. they form a parapsychic bond with only a single partner, which they maintain and uphold for life. it's not just cultural—it's like a physical compulsion. they cannot take another pair, and they cannot be separated for long periods or they grow sick."
prince shouto is still staring straight at you, and it's not quite comforting enough to know that he cannot possibly hear you.
it's only his role in the ceremony that seems to eventually break the prince's weird focus in your direction. he steps forward to perform his duty as empress rei's chosen heir. you almost flinch as the knife draws across the pale skin of his palm, and he adds several drips of silvery blood to the parchment, symbolizing yuuei's intent to uphold the treaty across future monarchs.
the flesh of his palm knits itself back together in seconds, and another little shiver goes up your spine. those mismatched eyes flash back your way as he steps back, and the various aides and officials once again converge on the documents.
there is a brief flurry of activity, various bows and oaths, some stilted endeavorian verse. the chief treaty officer looks relieved when it's all over, and the royal family steps down from the dais to greet the rest of the visiting party, as is the customary honor granted to allies to the yuuei. tenya ushers you into the queue near the back with denki, a symbol of your lower status as mechanics.
you don't mind, as the thought of reaching prince shouto has your stomach doing what feel like backflips in your gut. the longer the delay the better.
izuku had walked everyone through the appropriate greetings on the podship, a few murmured words and a hand touch at chest-level—extremely hard to mess up, even for you. but nevertheless your pulse kicks up the closer you draw to the royal family.
there's a long line of them you greet first. offshoot branch members, then general todoroki enji, whose enormous palm burns hot against yours and who looks he'd rather take your party's hands off than touch them. then rei's unchosen heirs—the princess fuyumi, prince natsuo—and a gap where prince touya would have stood, were he not offworld.
and then you're standing in front of prince shouto, your pulse pounding in your ears. he's extremely tall up close, clearing six feet easily, broad across the shoulders and handsome in a way that almost makes your teeth ache. the yuuei look deceptively human, but this near you can see the tiny details that separate them from you—the slight double-point to their ears, the silvery undertone to their skin, the prolonged space between their breaths and their blinks.
and of course their inhuman beauty. they don't quite look like regular people, and it sparks a tiny note of wariness in the primeval part of your human hindbrain.
prince shouto's mismatched eyes pin you, silver and blue, as a sudden, silvery flush creeps across his face. you hold your hand out in greeting, trying not to wonder if you've somehow managed to offend him already—but instead of pressing his palm against yours, his long fingers suddenly grasp yours, clasping tightly.
beyond him, empress rei freezes too. all at once you can feel every single himuran noble turn to look at you, hundreds of eyes pinning on you.
reflexively, words tumble out of you. "shit did i—what did i do? were you supposed to get a different hand thingy?"
you can hear the treaty officer's horrified inhale at the terms shit and hand thingy, deployed in crass galactic standard in front of a literal prince. you immediately wish you could take them back, but from the look on the prince's face, he's already heard them.
something at the corner of his mouth twitches, like he's trying not to smile.
"y/n," he says, in a deep tone. it's crisply accented and just as beautiful as the rest of him.
it takes you a second to realize prince shouto has used your name, which he could not possibly know considering the uniform you'd been issued for the yuuei visit has no unique identifiers on it. you glance down at yourself, then back up at him, befuddled.
"how did you—? where did you—?" you garble out. "did denki put you up to this? how do you know me?"
prince shouto's fingers smooth over yours, delightfully warm, calloused and sure. "i would know you in any universe," he says, voice soft. behind you, you hear princess fuyumi make a tiny sound of delight.
you blink. "universe? what—uh, what universe? how would you—?"
but shouto leans in, tugging you closer with those deceptively strong fingers. he's so very warm up close, and so beautiful it makes your brain short circuit, especially as he lowers his face to yours. a shiver rolls down your spine as his other hand takes you gently by the chin.
and then he murmurs a single word before pressing his mouth to yours—
"matepair."

Izuku to Shoto : "Because you're so caring yourself... it's like you're waiting (to forgive him)..."
Izuku to Tomura: "Everything you did... I couldn't let it stand. That why I fought (and killed)..."
Either Izuku is a hypocrite or he got character development that he never directed toward Enji. Favoritism TM.
As much as I love Izuku and the potential his character had I personally believe that he just never had any worthy development in the series. Honestly his actions make no sense to me sometimes and he ends up contradicting himself so much it boggles my brain.
I like to think that izuku isn't a hypocrite and that horikoshi is just making him out of character and bending his character in ways to satisfy what he wants to say.
Look Izuku being angry at tomura makes sense considering that shigaraki has put Izuku's life and the lives of izukus loved ones in danger trying to kill them so that makes sense. However, I think the way the whole izuku and shigaraki thing was handled was horrible from both sides. They lacked development so yes Izuku saying that he wants to save shigaraki made no proper sense because he doesn't know shigaraki and shigaraki doesn't know Izuku. This is the reason why hori had to speed run the memory sharing thing that prioritised shigarakis memories instead of having it be a two way thing (aka it was only there for izuku to learn about Shigaraki and his backstory). In the end the whole shigaraki and izuku thing is underdeveloped from both sides and leaves a bad taste in my mouth while making me question what Izuku's point ever was (like I don't think Izuku did it out of pride but it was so horribly executed that I don't think Izuku just did it to help shigaraki)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have already talked about my opinions on what izuku said about enji and how I think it's out of character for him and hori again bending his character to say such things but what irritates me most is that izuku isn't oblivious he is also an abuse victim. Izuku a character that gets robbed of agency and autonomy is controlled to say that an abuser has developed and deserves to be forgiven which makes me so livid especially because Izuku has never gotten the chance to confront his own abuser or even acknowledge his own abuse so this is just straight up cruel from hori.
Tumblr media
In the end this also sends a horrible message of you have to forgive and be the perfect victim to be saved and have a chance at life while witnessing your abuser never getting concequences for their actions.

I've been looking at some old Japanese villain fan tweets about Toga from Chapter 395, and most of them seem pretty okay with Toga's ending - her dying on her own terms. Which is 😕 to me but.
The overwhelming conclusion from both japanese hero and villain fans alike that no matter what, the League will be getting the death penalty. Maybe life in prison, but most agree it's the death penalty for Shigaraki, Toga, Dabi had he been less burned. Even Spinner and Compress, the less notorious members, might be getting it, because they were part of the terrorist cell. Not immediately that we would see in the epilogue, but eventually.
From the book The Culture of Capital Punishment in Japan:
...Murakami noted that “as a general argument, I adopt a stance of opposition toward the death penalty” but then said “I cannot publicly state, as far as this case is concerned, ‘I am opposed to the death penalty’,” because he had acquired “a painful awareness of the feelings of some bereaved families.”
By arguing that he opposes capital punishment but not in this case, Murakami is articulating a sensibility—the death penalty is “unavoidable” (yamu o enai)—that is ubiquitous in Japan’s culture of capital punishment. [...] Japan’s government uses it to ask citizens whether they support capital punishment (a typical survey question asks “Do you agree that the death penalty is unavoidable in some cases?”). The “unavoidable” expression simultaneously suggests that the death penalty “cannot be helped” and that the speaker is ambivalent about this purportedly “inescapable” outcome. The reservations wrapped in the expression suggest that Japanese capital punishment continues to operate because agents of the state (prosecutors, judges, politicians) and citizen-onlookers represent themselves, to themselves and others, as cogs in a machine over which they have little control.
This punishment simply is. Even in this fictional world. Even though a lot of the League were victims. Even if the villains we saw locked up in Tartarus are never put to execution, and the death penalty is only offhandedly mentioned.
And if this is inevitable in the League's future, then why not go out on your own terms? If death is certain, you might as well die by your own hand (Toga), or go out in battle (Shigaraki). (Never mind that Toga's death was preventable, and Shigaraki was possessed and all he got to do was help punch-kill AFO.) Japanese villain fans are upset about Dabi's fate, but from what I saw, it's mostly because he's meeting such a quiet end.
Another thought: perhaps it's because the Villains were saved, they also had to die. If you stay a unrepentant mofo, like Muscular, then you don't have the decency to recognize your sins and allow yourself to die. But if you were saved and recognize your sins, you have no choice but to die for all the deaths you caused.
(Again, I don't think that works quite for the League, who stay pretty unrepentant about the upheaval they caused??? especially Toga, who states that she was gonna skeddadle; but in a way, she recognized that she hurt Ochako, so she gave up her blood.)
(also. to say nothing of Enji and Hawks being alive. or even Nagant. But some japanese fans are at least upset that Enji and Hawks aren't going to receive any in-universe official punishment for what they did.)

Words: 1619
Summary: Uh oh, looks like Dabi has finally caught you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Pretty girl” Dabi cooes before his tongue makes a long, flat strip along the slit of your pussy making you meal and arch your hips up to meet his mouth “My pretty girl.”
God how corrupt he was. So much so that he didn’t care that he dragged his baby sister along to damnation.
Fuck did it feel good though as his fingers dig into the swell of your ass, controlling your movements. The strong, long muscle of his tongue fucking your cunt into oblivion. You didn’t care about forsaking your family when Dabi was between your legs having himself a grand ol’ time making you cry out his name.
He was cruel in his affections. Though Dabi made sure it was a cruelty that had your thighs quacking and ass clenching in his palms.
You feel like your clit is about ready to combust from his abuse of it. Dealing it nips with his teeth when you tried to move away from him. A small punishment compared to the lovebites that trail along the inside of your thighs. There’d be no way to hide them with the tights of your usual costume. Dabi dealt with them quickly.
Face burning from the intensity of his lips. The slight slippery texture of the staples along his mouth felt every now and then.
You try and crawl away from him for the upteenth time, but Dabi's fingers dug harder into the muscles of your thighs. He made sure you weren't going anywhere until he was done.
You tried fighting against him. The entirety of your fight you mentally chastise yourself for falling for Dabi's trap. For a while you'd been able to evade him in this cat and mouse game. Shoto would be able to talk you out of confronting Dabi in whatever dark corner he was lurking in.
Wanting to apprehend him before he hurts the rest of your family drove you to seek him out. As long as he lived you and Shoto would never be able to break free from the harm Enji Todoroki as long as Dabi lived. He would hold this against not just the man he had main beef with, but harmless Natsuo and Fuyumi too. Dabi would keep reminding the public what Endeavor did to his wife and kids and how the world would now pay for it.
Tried resisting the urge to fall for his taunts, his mocking little names that he attached to you. Your older brother needed to be stopped. And if anyone could go toe to toe with Dabi, it was possibly you. Endeavor was still wary about fighting his own son whom he'd thought dead. And while Shoto possessed his half and half quirk, the heat of his flames couldn't compare to Dabi's bright blue.
However, the heat of your blinding white flames could give Dabi a run for his money.
Heat and combustion converge to birth a transcendent luminosity. Well, that was how Shoto often described it. You never knew he was a poet.
That night just wasn't your night.
You were already running low on fumes by the time you encountered Dabi.
It was like he was waiting for this perfect opportunity where you weren't in peak condition to detect his footsteps approaching. Not even the reek of cigarettes that clung to him tipped you off.
Now you found it near impossible. Body betraying every rational thought that was trying to breach past the surface as he devoured you from the inside out. Plus he threatened using a quirk-destroying drug on you. The very same that robbed the now pro-hero known as Lemillion when he was younger.
The prospect of losing your quirk was worse than being assaulted. You didn't know what he would do once you were caught. Never thinking it could become reality. Initially you think maybe he'll kill you and throw your corpse at Endeavor and Shoto's feet. Rub in another victory for the villains.
Hungry. So fucking hungry Dabi was when the moment came where he finally caught you. You were fast, like a shooting star, when you used your fire quirk to propel yourself through the sky. Like Endeavor did. But Dabi wanted it more. Since first reconnecting with his beloved sister, it was all Dabi could think of. His dreams were plagued by your sweet mewls.
Fingers rip away the material of the bottom of your uniform with vengeful talons.
The same fingers that now delve past your sopping wet folds that have a vice squeeze around the digits as you squeal, attempting once more to put distance between you and Dabi yet also bucking your hips against his fingers.
What scared you most about this whole thing was how mind numbingly amazing he was making you feel.
Oh it was fucked up for sure that he made you sob and cry from the pleasure that choked you. His obscene slurping of your pussy actually accomplished in making you more wet.
The first man to touch you like this. . . and it was Touya of all people. Your older brother. Someone who was supposed to protect you.
You feel sick like you're on the verge of throwing up. But each time you think you were going to hurl, a surge of pleasure courtesy of Dabi's tongue and fingers pulled you from the brink. Felt like he was giving you whiplash as you went from crawling out of your skin in disgust and earth shattering ecstasy.
Did you want him to stop? Yes. . . No. . . You didn't know anything anymore. Your life was already terrible in the past and you barely just finished healing from what Endeavor put the family through. This was something not even your therapist should know about.
When you try to cover your face from the heat of your own shame, Dabi hisses and viciously bites your labia. Up until then you'd been moderately quiet but that bite caused you to cry out loud.
"Nuh-uh. Let me see your fucking face, Miss Hero. Wanna see the dumb expression on it when I make you come." He takes another vicious nip to your labia, making sure you would obey unless you wanted your pussy to become his chew toy. Tremors run through your arm as it slides away from your face to reveal the beads of tears that accumulate in your eyes and the bright red hue of your cheeks. Your bottom lip is chewed raw from your efforts to remain quiet.
How pathetic. You were supposed to be a prohero yet there you were splayed out in front of your villainous brother.
When your thighs seize and your body quakes, your head grows hazy and so light that you think you'll faint. Your orgasm ricochets in your bones, slick walls of your cunt convulsing around Dabi's fingers. That shit eating grin flaming wider across that it puts stress on the staples that hold his face together.
"Haa. . ." A breath is exhaled from him as he cruelly slides his finger out of you, fighting against your vice grip on them. "What would our father have to say about your behavior?" The crotch of his pants grow uncomfortable, the head of his cock smooshed against his zipper. Oh, the thought of Endeavor finding the both of you in this compromising position got him even harder. The shock that would seize the face of Japan's number one hero.
And if the rest of the world found out, well better for Dabi. Everyone would know that you belong to him. That he alone tainted the baby of the Todoroki family. The Spare Twin that no one cared much for. Your big brother doubts there's anyone in the world who adores and loves you more than he does.
His thumb smears the mess of your pussy across your puffed and tender. Enjoying the way you whine and squirm as he continues to overstimulate your already tender cunt. He knew you would be delicious, but never anticipated you being this fucking good. Dabi didn't want to pull away but there was more fun to be had before anyone goes looking for you.
For a moment he thinks back to the phone in his back pocket. A titillating idea comes to his mind of taking a picture of you in this state and anonymously sending it to Endeavor's agency.
Dabi wanted to enjoy this moment though. Possibly for the first time in years, Dabi manages to push Endeavor far out of his mind. Instead he lets himself be consumed by the sight of your chest heaving and the bright red that rose to your cheeks. You half-heartedly glare at him. He had half the mind to steal you. Take you away. Tomura highly advised against it. While you weren't the show stopper like Shoto, you were still very important to the public eye. They didn't need the heroe's efforts growing tenfold because a fellow prohero was kidnapped by them.
Instead, Dabi would just have to take what he could get and attempt to display discipline though he felt like a ravenous animal as he grazes his teeth against your skin. Your body radiates heat against his tongue, salt from your sweat delighting his taste buds. How on earth was it possible for someone to taste so good? It made him contemplate cannibalism. Would your meat taste just as good?
His hand lands on his belt, contemplating the pretty mess he's made of you. He'd have to wait until next time to truly claim you.
Leaning down to your pussy lips one more, Dabi gives it a passionate kiss that has you squealing once more. "Until next time, Miss Hero."

Drabble-A-Thon Prompt #14
Pairing: ShigaDabi
Rating: Explicit
Prompt: Octopus!Shig/Human!Dabi from this post
Contents: Character Death (Minor character, off-screen), Suicide Idolization, Suicide Attempt (drowning), Dub Con, Fuck Or Die, Tentacle Sex, Anal Sex, Breath Play (Drowning), Fear Play
He already nearly killed himself by burning, how bad could it be to do it intentionally this time by drowning? Standing on the precipice of the ocean with that in mind makes the chilled air and choppy water of early spring feel all the more desolate and cruel. Dabi didn’t think he wanted to die. He wanted to come back as a ghost to haunt his father, the skeleton in his closet that had sharpened his ribs to knives and slit his throat in a display for all the world to see.
And then Enji had gone and died without his permission.
Dabi goes over that fight again and again. He doesn’t know how it could happen. How he could have gotten overwhelmed, which blow must have caused the internal organ damage that had gone unnoticed at the end of the fight, and only killed him half an hour later when he was helping the police save people from the rubble that the ambulances on site couldn’t help with. He’d needed an OR twenty minutes before, and he died before he even knew there was something wrong. He’d died and stolen away Dabi’s revenge the same way he stole everything else.
Today is the funeral. He thought about showing up anyway, thought about burning his corpse, and standing on the ashes, and screaming to the whole world what Enji Todoroki had done to him. But what would really be the point? His father died saving people. He had no evidence of his claims, and his siblings wouldn’t know him anymore. Enji Todoroki died too soon and now Dabi doesn’t know if he’s supposed to die too.
The water is cold as he takes his first few steps into it, fully clothed, but his quirk rushes up to meet the chill, keeping him insulated against it as his body seems to want him to live. He keeps walking anyway. Knees, hips, waist, shoulders. He’s treading water when he gets that far out. All he has to do is stop. He just has to let a wave crash over him and take a deep breath. He doesn’t think that this will hurt nearly as much as burning.
But he stays there, treading water, for a long time. His thoughts ebb and flow like  the water around him, and he can’t find a way to move forward. He can’t even decide if he should try or if he should just make it all stop.
He still screams when something coils around his ankle tightly and drags him through the waves, seeming to make the choice for him as he can’t keep his limbs coordinated and his head slips under the waves, blasting him with icy water.
Dabi is sputtering when he comes back up from the dark, saltwater burning in his eyes and nose, and hands gripping him tightly around his arms as he tries to get his bearings. He’s not expecting for a white-haired man with bright red eyes to be looking at him with such naked fury and disgust as he holds him tight and forces him to stay afloat. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” He snarls.
“Let go of me,” He tries to raise a hand, raise his temperature, but his skin is so chilled by the water, so soaked by every wave that crashes against their bodies, that he can’t actually light himself on fire.
“So you can kill yourself? On my beach? No.” Dabi thinks the man is going to kill him himself when he holds onto him tightly, one of those strange iron-clad coils around his waist, and he drags him through the water faster than Dabi has ever been able to swim on his own, until he’s suddenly being hit by much choppier waves and he’s sumbling as he ends up fumbling through as much sand as he is water. The man shoves him hard up onto the shore and Dabi is coughing water from his throat as he lands hard against the sand, turning back to look at him. It’s only as the tide pulls the ocean back in preparation for spraying them both again that he sees that a scarred, pale, muscled chest makes way for smooth black skin at his waist and a mess of tentacles beneath. He slips back into deeper waters and calls back to him, expression grim and angry, “If you want to die, do it somewhere else,” Before he ducks back into the water and disappears.
And for the first time since the news broke, Dabi doesn’t have a single thought about Enji Todoroki in his head.
///
Dabi goes back to his apartment that day. He’s dry by the time he gets there, and he doesn’t turn on the TV to see what the news says about his father’s funeral. That guy must have been a heteromorph. He had to have been. He couldn’t have had an actual run-in with an actual mermaid– merman?-- or something. Right? He’s sure he couldn’t have.
But it doesn’t stop him from going back the next day too. The strip of beach he chose is off of the edge of a cliff, the water too dangerous here for swimming, and a good section of the beach is completely blocked from sight because of the way the cliff overhangs it. Dabi thought it would be a good place to go if he didn’t want anyone to see him or try to stop him. And the next day, he doesn’t know if it’s more curiosity or despair driving his actions when he walks right back into the cold waves, but it’s some sort of awe when the same octopus-man as before finds him and sneers, dragging him back up to the beach and telling him to fuck off.
He does it again the next day, and the next, and the next.
A month passes like this. Dabi uses his morning ‘swims’ as a heavy tarp over the agony and rage he feels in his veins every time he thinks of his father. He gets a bathing suit that he wears as spring turns to summer and starts to warm the water, and the strange man who keeps stopping him from drowning, stops snarling at him, and starts looking at him with some kind of curiosity, that the self-destructive thing inside of him tells him to stick around for. His self-preservation burned alive when he was twelve.
///
It’s going to rain today. A heavy thunderstorm that is brewing and already making the waves so much choppier than normal that Dabi doesn’t risk going any further than waist deep when he goes out into the water for his morning swim. The white-haired man slips through the water, closer, circling him, but not breaching the surface yet, but Dabi waits. He always comes up, always pushes and pulls at his skin before he drags him back up the beach before he disappears in the dark water again.
But he lingers around Dabi for a lot longer today, and when he does come close, he doesn’t show his face, watching him from under the waves as his tentacles move to twist around Dabi’s legs. He shivers. He never gets used to the sensation of those, the suckers always putting little points of suction against his skin, and the entire length of the appendages always feeling unnaturally slick and cold as they move. But he’s been touched by this man plenty of times. He knows what to expect.
Until he doesn’t.
Dabi yelps, and rears back when the other creature brings a tentacle up his thigh, slithering up the trunk of his swimsuit deliberately. He’s not expecting the other to take advantage of him when he’s off-balance, but he pushes him over as he does, making Dabi fall back and his head go under. The water rushes over his face and he thrashes as his breath is suddenly taken away from him, trying to regain his footing. But the octopus-man doesn’t let him. He pins him into the sand, his torso solid over him as he holds him down, as his tentacles wrap around his legs, having more than enough of them to hold him in place and more to pull his trunks halfway down his thighs. Panic surges through him, but before he can try for his quirk, the other man pushes his head down below the water, mouth sealing against his as the saltwater floods his nose and eyes. It’s instinctive for Dabi to bite at his lips, hard enough that he tastes the barest flicker of blood among the briny water before it has pulled away from him again.
The octopus-man pulls back too red eyes glaring at him, blood dripping down his lip as a tentacle presses up between his legs, suckers immediately latching onto his cock and balls with soft kisses that are sensations that might feel good if Dabi wasn’t filled with panic as he anticipates the next wave and whatever pain this monster might bring to him. “What is more important to you? Biting me, or breathing?”
He makes Dabi choose right then as he catches his lips again, just as the wave crests over them both. Dabi tries to push at his skin, tries to light up his quirk, but they’re both so soaked, and his body is so smothered that he can’t manage it. He bites him again anyway, too stubborn for it. The other man pulls away from him, and Dabi hopes to get some relief, but he’s strong and he uses one of his extra limbs to hold Dabi’s wrists tight, and uses his hands to hold him down below the water, even after the wave passes over them. Panic roars through his body as he does his best to get out of the grip, but he doesn’t manage it. He is held there, his chest aching for air, his heartbeat pounding in his ears, a burning that rivals the heat of his quirk is starting to scream through his body.
He’s drowning. The creature who told him again and again that he wouldn’t be allowed to die on this beach is killing him.
Black spots burst across his vision and Dabi has one sharp moment of pure terror where he realizes that he doesn’t want this. He outlived his bastard father. He lived through someone that no one thought he could handle. He survived for eight years without anyone to rely on. He already was better than Enji Todoroki. He can’t kill him to prove that now, he just has to keep being better than him and stay alive. Show the world he has the most powerful fire quirk that exists.
The octopus-man presses his lips back to his and licks at the seam of them, trying to get him to open. Dabi does, and his lungs fill with air as he breathes it into him. He is immediately dizzy from the relief, his body flooding with endorphins as the other creature doesn’t just give him his air, but licks inside and kisses him. He doesn’t think he means for his muscles to go slack with relief, doesn’t think he means for that spinning in his head to turn into some kind of distant pulse of pleasure, but he’s kissing him back, breathing through his indulgence as his extra limbs move between his legs. The air that he’s getting from the other is still thinner than he likes, he feels like he’s hiking at a high altitude, but he’s getting enough to survive, and that’s all he needs.
The tentacle that rubs against his cock, teases him for a moment before it coils around his length as many times as the thick limb can, engulfing him from root to tip, and making Dabi even dizzier as he’s met with a pressure and texture unlike anything else he’s ever had against him there. He doesn’t mean to moan, but it… feels good. His cock is starting to harden.
The other pulls him up from the sand enough for his head to breach the water, and parts from his lips, letting Dabi take in as many deep, gasping breaths as he can before the next wave comes.
“I’m going to fuck you, or you’re going to drown like you’ve been trying for a month. Make your choice.” He lets go of Dabi’s hands, so confident that he won’t be able to get away no matter what he tries, and from how his limbs feel like steel cables around his body, Dabi doesn’t think he will either.
And he can’t die now when he’s just decided how badly he wants to live. So when the next wave comes, Dabi reaches up and tangles his hands in the other’s long, wild hair, and yanks him back in to steal his breath again.
Once he’s made his choice, the octopus-man doesn’t relent. He kisses him hard and deep, his hands roaming Dabi’s body, fingers finding the different textures of his skin, scars, and staples, as his tentacles tighten and stroke everywhere else along Dabi’s body. He never puts his whole hand against him, always only ghosting four fingers over his skin and Dabi isn’t sure if he’s ever touched him with all five at once. He isn’t sure if it’s the danger, the thinness of the air he’s getting, or the fear that is all going through him, but there is a heady cocktail that is spurring his arousal on. Every time he gets enough breath to waste, he’s moaning softly, whining as his hands end up pinned into the soft sand above his head, the grit of that against his scars irritating, but not something he can escape. He can’t escape anything that the other man decides to do with his body.
Dabi isn’t sure if he wants to go slower or faster because his body is overwhelmed or if he just wants it to be over, but it doesn’t get any easier to determine when he feels one of the tentacles move up between his legs, pressing his cheeks open so that it can flick against his hole. The coldness of that appendage touching him there, the fear he’ll push it inside and tear him apart, make his muscles tighten, but through the water, he hears the octopus-man churr at him softly, his kiss going a little sweeter as he touches him. He moves slowly, working the tip around and against him, and Dabi only then realizes that it’s shaped differently than the other tentacles, seeming to taper but having a wider flare an inch or two from the tip before tapering again, curved up against his hole like a spoon. Not the same smoothe tapered shapes of his other limbs. Something different, something that secretes a fluid so viscous that it clings to him even through the unrelenting rhythm of the crashing waves, and makes him slick. A cock, or whatever the equivalent that octopus mermen have he supposes.
The slickness and soft touches are enough for his muscles to relax, and Dabi lets out a soft whine against the other’s mouth as he starts to press inside. His tentacle is less rigid than a cock, and it is thin enough at the tip that he can take him without anything else. But he hasn’t fucked anyone in… a long time. Certainly never thought he would be in a position like this where he had to choose this or death.
He doesn’t want it to feel good, but the creature keeps every nerve of Dabi’s body alight as he starts to feed his cock inside, going deeper and deeper because there is so much of it. The tentacles around his cock squeeze and stroke him, his suckers kissing his length and everywhere else where their bodies are touching. His mouth stays on his, his tongue finding the places that take away the breath he’s supposed to be giving back to him. And when he’s got so much of his cock inside of him that Dabi thinks that he’s deeper than anyone else has ever gone, he starts to thicken the appendage. He knew that octopuses could change the girth of their limbs in some ways, but he didn’t know that they could do the same for their cock. The limb thickens and fills him even more, stretching his hole and not fucking him the way he’s used to, but moving inside him more like a finger, undulating and stroking his walls. When his strangely shaped head finds his prostate, he cups it over the gland and starts to pull and push against the layer of flesh and muscle separating it from his touch, until Dabi feels so sensitive that he’s twisting against him again, grinding more sand into his seams, and unable to care because he feels like he’s drowning in the pleasure of the touches as much as he was when he was being held beneath the water.
It doesn’t take long against that onslaught of pleasure and terror for Dabi to lose it, his cock twitching in the creature’s grasp before he’s splashing his cum against the tentacle holding him tight.
He knows that the other must be able to feel it because he can feel how burning hot his release is against his cool limb before the water takes that away too. And then he starts to move his cock inside of Dabi more deliberately, chasing his own pleasure. Dabi is already exhausted from what has happened, sapped from his orgasm, and much weaker than the octopus-creature. So the only surprise that comes when he pushes him back down beneath the waves and holds him there, is that he keeps his head above them, watching as Dabi realizes he’s not going to let him breathe. He’s going to kill him anyway.
The terror of drowning comes back to him at full force and he tries to fight again, reaching out and trying to sink his fingers into the other’s gills, but he barely gets his hand on his skin before a tight four-fingered grip is pushing his wrists back into the sand. His body seizes up–
And he feels the tentacle inside of him twitch and then a thicker fluid than the water around them start to flood his walls as the appendage keeps moving in the same maddening rhythm.
His lungs begin to burn again, stars bursting behind his eyes, and darkness starting to come in at the edge, his body begging him not to hold his breath anymore, while his brain screams that the relief will only exist for a split second and then there will be nothing–
And then he’s pulled up from the water, pulled up as the tentacles pull out of him and pull him away from where they were. Dabi struggles, unable to make sense of what’s happening until he’s being dropped onto the cold, wet sand where only an inch of water reaches as the waves roll in. The octopus man doesn’t stop. He keeps moving forward, and Dabi sees black tentacles come back together and morph into human legs, as scarred as his torso and arms. He gasps for breath, coughing up the water that still got into his mouth and nose from being held under, sure that his eyes would be streaming tears if he could do that from the fear and the burning salt water.
The now-human man who Dabi is finally sure just has a strange quirk, half turns to him.
“My name is Tomura Shigaraki. I saved your life, I spared it, now you’re going to share it with me.” His tone leaves no room for argument, and for a moment Dabi just stares at him. They’re out of the water now. He doesn’t have the advantage anymore. Dabi can light him on fire faster than he can close the meter of space between them. He could kill him for doing that to him.
“Fuck you, I don’t owe you shit.”
“We’ll work on your manners. Get up, I have more important places to be today.”
It still takes him a second, but Dabi pushes himself up from the sand, sure that he’s an absolute mess with it stuck to him, hoping that he’s not covered in a mixture of their cum as he tries to pull his trunks back up over his legs, though Shigaraki doesn’t seem to have any qualms about his own nakedness. “You’re a piece of fucking work, you know that?”
“Hurry up.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fucking going, I’d like to see you try to walk after taking your big fucking octopus dick up your ass.” He stumbles a little, but he does move up the beach towards the other man. “Who the fuck even are you?”
“I already told you my name. You should learn some manners and give yours before asking me for more.” Once Dabi is at his side, he moves towards the cliff and Dabi hesitantly follows after him.
“...You can call me ‘Dabi’.”
“I’m going to be the most prolific supervillain in Japan.” He says as he leads Dabi to a small cave that he never even knew was here. There’s a towel, neat bundle of clothes folded there, and a slick black phone on top. He starts to dry off, wiping the sand from his skin as he turns red eyes on him again. “Is that going to be a problem, Dabi?”
“...Works for me.”
“Good boy. Come here, you’re a mess.” There’s a second towel and Shigaraki wraps his around his waist before reaching for it, his red, and the one that he uses to start to clean and dry Dabi’s skin blue. The touch is far, far more gentle than he would have expected as he starts to try and get the sand away from his seams.
“Yeah, and who’s fault is that?” He grumbles. But he lets the other clean him, lets him dress and bundle Dabi in the towels as his body tries to warm itself after that chill, and then follows him to a car that’s been parked off the road a mile away. He lets him offer a hand as he climbs inside, and they drive away from the beach.
It’s six years later as he’s lying against Tomura’s chest in their bed, Japan theirs at last, when he realizes that they never went back after that day.
